A 27-YEAR-OLD man of Mkushi district has died after the vehicle he was driving overturned and hit into a tree.
Stephen Simwaba was driving along the Great North Road in Mkushi district, when the fatal road accident occurred.
Mkushi Town Council Public Relations unit which confirmed the tragic accident said it occurred yesterday around 23:30 hours.
“A 27-year-old man, identified as Stephen Simwaba, a resident of Mkushi District last night died in a fatal road accident after a vehicle he was driving overturned and hit into a tree.
The tragic incident happened near Rubis Filling Station, former Samfuel Filling Station, along the Great North Road at approximately 23:30 hours,” reads the statement.
The statement further state that fire and rescue team led by leading fire fighter Billy Chiyangi rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 23:48 hours.
“Upon arrival at the accident scene, the rescue team found the body of the deceased already retrieved by on-lookers from the motor vehicle, Toyota Mark X, registration Number BLB 5129.
The rescue team managed to recover the deceased’s driving license among other identity cards from the extensively damaged motor vehicle,” the statement read.
