MAZABUKA MAN SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR KILLING HIS WIFE
The High court sitting Mazabuka district has sentenced a 43 year old man of Monze’s Kaumuzya East to eight years imprisonment with hard labour for manslaughter.
This follows Hetrone Sikawala’s conviction for causing the death of his wife, Eunice Kaunu contrary to section 199 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Byta FM Mazabuka Court Journalist reports that Sikawala is believed to have caused the death of his wife the night of 30 and 31 July 2019.
He is believed to have used sticks to beat Kaunu, leaving her with bruises all over her body and severe head injuries before she later died.
Meanwhile, Livingstone High Court Judge in charge sitting in Mazabuka Lady Justice Chilombo Bridget Maka slapped Sikawala with eight year jail term effective the day of arrest.
Maka says the sentence should deter would be offenders.
