M’MEMBE PLAYING POLITICS ON ISSUE OF BAROTSELAND

GOVERNMENT says Socialist Party (SP) president Fred M’membe is playing politics on the issues of Barotseland and, as such, it will not waste time debating the issue.

According to a statement released by SP media director Brian Hapunda yesterday, Dr M’membe has promised to issue a Statutory Instrument on the day he will be sworn in as President to declare Western Province as Barotseland.

Mr Hapunda said this came to light when Dr M’membe paid a courtesy call on Ngambela Mukela Manyando, Prime Minister of Barotseland, at Limulunga Palace.

“For us, we are not going to respond to a pipedream, we are not going to respond to a proposal that is intended to be carried out by an imaginary government of the Socialist Party,” Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa said.

The minister said the New Dawn administration led by President Hakainde Hichilema will continue to promote peace and unity in the country.
