MOTORBIKE RIDERS IN CHIPATA GIVEN UP TO 1ST APRIL TO REGISTER THEIR BIKES

Motorbike riders in Chipata have been given up to April 1st 2023 to have their motorbikes registered.

This is in an effort to bring sanity on the road as the majority of the motorbikes are not registered.

Chipata Central Police Station Traffic Accidents Investigation Officer Inspector Wilson Mukanzu said the traffic department is aware that the high number of riders come from rural areas and might not fully understand requirements needed on the road.

He said this during a radio program on Breeze FM dubbed “the road user”.

He said all motorbike riders were given a grace period to have their motorbikes registered, saying failure to do so will result into penalties.

Inspector Mukanzu further added that for the first two months of the first quarter of 2023, the department recorded 70 Road Traffic Accidents compared to the first two months of 2022 where the department recorded a total 105 accidents showing a reduction in the number of accidents.
