Human Rights Commission Chairperson Mudford Mwandenga has expressed surprise by a strange statement issued by its Spokesperson, Mwelwa Muleya who claimed that Pheluna and Milton Hatembo were not abducted.
In his statement, Muleya claimed that according to preliminary investigations by the Human Rights Commission, the Hatembos were not abducted and their where-abouts were not as a result of a case of abduction or kidnapping.
The Police have since challenged Mr. Muleya to help the Police with the where-abouts of the Hatembos as there is an official report of missing persons.
HRC Chairperson Mudford Mwandenga said the Commission has not been briefed about the claims by Mr. Mwelwa.
He also said that the Commission has since not seen Mr. Muleya following his contraversial statement.
When contacted for comment, Muleya claimed that his statement was issued based on official information obtained by the Commission.
