Nawakwi, stepchildren drama continues
Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) Edith Nawakwi’s step-children have asked the Lusaka High Court not to entertain the politician’s application to have them cited for contempt of court.
Mulundu Hatembo, one of the step children, has urged the court to dismiss with costs Ms Nawakwi’s ex-parte (one-sided) application to have him and his younger brother, Mweemba, cited for contempt of court because it allegedly lacks merit.
Ms Nawakwi has filed contempt of court proceedings against her stepsons for allegedly interfering in a civil lawsuit she filed against them in the High Court.
Ms Nawakwi contends that contrary to the Lusaka High Court’s directives for the two sons not to perform any functions as estate administrators, they filed a lawsuit against her in the lower court.
She says the reliefs the children are seeking in the subordinate court are similar to the ones she wants in the High Court. The 62-year-old widow of late businessman Geoffrey Hambulo submits that Mweemba and Mulundu’s actions allegedly amount to contempt
