OPPOSITION MPs VOW TO REJECT RATIFICATION OF ZNBC BOARD

Acting leader of the opposition Hon Davison Mung’andu has charged that all opposition members of parliament will not ratify the appointed board of ZNBC today.

Hon Mung’andu said this board was not appointed on merit as it was dictated by President Hakainde Hichilema based on political inclination of the members announced by Information and Media Minister Chushi Kasanda.

In February, a list of ZNBC board members comprising Dante Saunders, Mato Shimabale, Mazuba Monze, Nchimunya Hachandi, Bernadette Phiri, Leopard Kantumoya, Ophelia Nyambe, Bishop Joseph Kazhila and Nalituba Mwale was announced, subject to ratification by parliament.

Parliament will this morning debate the ratification of the ZNBC board appointed by the Minister of Information and Media.

But Hon Mung’andu said, this board will not be supported by opposition MPs because those appointed are UPND cadres and appointment was made based on regionalism.

Hon Mung’andu who is PF Chairperson for Muchinga province said President Hichilema has been making most of the board appointments personally, when it is supposed to be the duty of ministers, who now just sit and wait until Bally imposes his own board members.
