Sishuwa Sishuwa

Petitioners against the nomination of President Edgar Lungu as Patriotic Front candidate to contest the August 12 general election have insisted that the incumbent does not qualify to compete this year because he has twice held office as stipulated under Article 106 clause 3 of the Constitution.

The petitioners, Dr. Sishuwa Sishuwa and Chapter One Foundation Limited have argued that the issues raised in the cases cited are not the same as the issues which were raised in the Danny Pule and Bampi Kapalasa case.

They further argue that apart from the Attorney General Likando Kalaluka, none of the parties to the petition were parties in the Pule and Kapalasa case.

The Petitioners argue that the Constitutional Court have not yet answered the question on whether President Edgar Lungu is eligible for election as a President for another five year term following his current term of office which commenced on September 13,2016.
