PF acknowledges debt deal achievement

OPPOSITION, PF party in Nakonde district has commended President Hichilema for securing a debt restructuring agreement with Eurobond holders.

Government recently announced sealing a deal with the Eurobond holder to restructure over US$3 billion of Zambia’s debt, a development termed as a huge milestone to spearhead economic activities.

ZANIS reports that Nakonde’s PF youth treasurer, Brian Chisha, hailed the deal as a milestone for the country, acknowledging the PF’s unsuccessful efforts to reach a similar agreement while in government.

Chisha urged other opposition parties to act patriotically and support the achievement, believing it will attract investment and development.

UPND’s Nakonde chairperson, Fredrick Chimeya, welcomed the PF’s support and expressed hope that other opposition parties would follow suit.

Chimeya encouraged constructive criticism from the opposition to aid the government’s progress.

Zambia reached the debt restructuring agreement, exceeding US$3 billion, on March 25, 2024n

  1. How Imperialists put our people in small groups so that they should not see each other as brothers and sisters is quite disturbing!
There must be a time when we come together and celebrate our common identity as Zambians!
We must acknowledge the good things PF did and also the good things UPND has done.
We should not dwell too much on Negatives because we are all not perfect!
What is critical is to uphold peace!
We in government should make sure there is transparency in whatever we do and also ensure we are within the Legal framework to avoid problems in future when we are out of office!
Those who lost power should get over their loss quickly, avoid the spirit of bitterness and antagonism and give honor and respect to those in positions of authority now!
If there are any questions regarding any oversights in the Mopani deal, it’s not a bad idea to get things corrected by getting Parliament to ratify the deal.
There should be no slothfulness or drudgery in the ratification process because many lives depend on this asset and we cannot prolong the pain our people are going through on the Copperbelt.
What the New Dawn government should do is to be transparent in their handling of public assets and affairs!
The worst thing Zambians don’t like is “Ubufi” na “Bukabolala!”
