PRESIDENT HICHILEMA REAFFIRMS ZAMBIA WILL NOT SUPPORT GAY AND LESBIAN ACTIVITIES

By Michael Kaluba

President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed his position that Zambia will not support any gay and lesbian activities and will maintain the law forbidding such unnatural acts as opposed to widespread messages from the opposition insinuating otherwise.

Speaking in Chingola today when he met over 400 clergy from the entire Copperbelt province, the head of state also reaffirmed that Zambia will remain a Christian Nation as declared previously by President Fredrick Chiluba because he believes this is the core of the country’s existence.

President Hichilema has also advised Zambians not to pay attention to falsehoods that his government supports Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer-LGBTQ- activities saying this is just a message from detractors who are misleading Zambians aimed at derailing the country’s progress.

He adds that the constitution is clear on gay and lesbian activities and intends to uphold the provisions of the law as well as normal standards and norms of Zambians who have rejected LGBTQI activities.

And speaking earlier, Life Gospel Ministries International General Overseer Joseph Kazhila pledged that the church will spearhead national reconciliation while supporting the head of state’s resilient stance against LGBTQI activities, hate speech, tribalism and other vices.
