PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFULS SHOULD EMULATE PRESIDENT LUNGU
As the country hits on the campaign trail for 2021 polls, we expect presidential aspirants to emulate President Edgar Lungu who has demonstrated commitment to preaching peace and promoting unity at every fora before during and after elections.
Indeed,we are alive to the fact that the willingness by losers to gracefully concede defeat as well as the winners’ ability to magnanimously accept victory are both not only tenets of democratic polls,but also ingredients of peace as democracy thrives on the rule of law.
It’s for these reasons we are urging prospective presidential candidates to refrain from issuing war-mongering statements as they hold the potential to disrupt peace and trigger anarchy in the country that well-known as an Oasis of peace.
