TENSION is building up in Mazabuka’s Magoye Constituency, where UPND members have besieged the party’s electoral body over adoptions.
The UPND’s electoral body is yet to announce the candidate for Magoye Constituency which is heavily contested with members saying without Mweemba Malambo as candidate, they will teach the opposition a lesson.
Supporters of Mweemba Malambo are protesting, saying they will not accept the current MP Emmerson Machila whom they have described as selfish.
“No Mweemba, No Candidate for UPND in Magoye.”
The proterstors demanded that the party leadership gives Malambo Mweemba adoption certificate.
Mweemba is among shortlisted candidates in Magoye with incumbent, Emmerson Machila and businesswoman, Nacoombe Kabunda being favorites.
The supports have charged that Mweemba won the primary elections from ward to the province and should therefore be the candidate.
Magoye, Namwala, Siavonga and Chikankata are some of the constituencies whose candidates are yet to be announced in Southern Province.
