PROMOTE MAJOR GENERAL NYONE TO LT GENERAL
We join many Zambians in congratulating Major General Humphrey Nyone of the Zambia Army who was recently appointed Force Commander for the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced the appointment of Major General Nyone to succeed Lieutenant General Daniel Sidiki Traoré of Burkina Faso.
We are proud to learn that Major General Nyone is a distinguished career Army officer with vast experience of military leadership and United Nations operating experience. We are sure as Force Commander Major General Nyone will help create new opportunities and market Zambia in the United Nations community.
Major General Nyone, as the first Zambian to get to this high position in the United Nations, deserves a promotion to Lt General since he succeeded a Lieutenant General.
