REHABILITATED KASAMA AIRPORT ATTRACTS PRIVATE AIRLINES

Government says Kasama Airport in Northern Province has attracted private airlines that wish to start servicing the area using the facility.
This follows the completion of the rehabilitation of the airport after 9 years of on and off work.
This came to light when Ministry of Information and Media Director Spokesperson Thabo Kawana toured the airport in the company of Kasama District Commissioner, Elizabeth Goma.
Mr Kawana said that Kasama is ready for business and investment following the completion of works at the airport.
Meanwhile, Kasama District Commissioner Elizabeth Goma expressed confidence that the airport will attract tourists and investors who previously had to land at Mansa airport in Luapula Province.
She appealed to the local people to safeguard the facility from vandalism as it is the pride of Kasama that will improve the economy of the district.
The airport has the capacity to accommodate the 737-800 version aircraft.
