OVERNMENT SPOKESPERSON REVEALS DR. KABUNGO JUST COLLAPSED AS HE WASN’T FEELING WELL
CHIEF Government spokesperson Chushi Kasanda has dispelled social media reports that Confederation of African Football -CAF and FIFA Medical Officer Joseph Kabungo died in a stampede by fans at a stadium in Nigeria.
Dr. Kabungo died in Nigeria where he was the CAF anti-doping officer.
Ms .Kasanda says Dr. Kabungo died after collapsing as he was walking to a doping room with some players and officials at the stadium.
She says the Zambian High Commissioner in that Country says Dr. Kabungo had earlier informed other officers on duty that he was feeling tired.
Ms. Kasanda says the public should therefore ignore a statement suggesting that Dr. Kabungo died as a result of the stampede.
She says the death of Dr. Kabungo is a loss to the nation and government has sent its condolence to the family and FAZ.
