GOVERNMENT DETAIN SOLDIERS FOR ALLEGED MUTINY FOR DEMANDING THEIR UN PEACE KEEPING MISSION ALLOWANCES

Lusaka-22nd March 2022

DP President and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Harry Kalaba has called upon President Hakainde Hichilema to immediately release over 100 soldiers that have been detained and are being investigated for mutiny for demanding their allowances.

The soldiers who serve in the United Nations Peace Keeping Missions have demanded that their institutions release their UN allowances paid through the Ministry of Defence.

But it has emerged that after their demands, the army moved in and detained them charging them with the offence of mutiny.

Mutiny is a charge commonly used for a rebellion among members of the military.

Harry Kalaba Wrote;

“Please pay our men and women in uniform their 100%allowances who went for peace keeping missions. You Promised Mr President. Why detain them????”
