Tayali denies encouraging soldiers to be rebel

CHILUFYA Tayali of the one-man Economic
and Equity Party (EEP) has denied fanning the flame for military personnel to rebel against the Head of State over delayed wages.

The 49-year old acting bachelor who resides at house no.38 Ngwezi road Roma township in Lusaka, is facing a charge of inciting mutiny, before the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that between March 1,2022 and April 4,2022, the accused using his Facebook advisedly attempted to seduce persons serving in the defense force from their duty and allegiance to the President by writing that ;“I don’t remember advocating for the defense force, because they have always been paid on time, but now, they are calling on me to speak for them, it is shame. These guys keep our security, you can’t be frustrating them or trying their patience”.

Appearing before magistrate Kelvin Soma yesterday, Tayali pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Trial commences on April 5.
