TIZ RATES CORRUPTION FIGHT IN LAST 6 MONTHS AS DISJOINTED, ARCHAIC AND LACKING RESULTS

By Michael Kaluba

Transparency International Zambia-TIZ- has rated the fight against corruption in the past 6 months of the UPND as disjointed, archaic and lacking results despite the numerous high profile cases before various investigative wings.

TIZ President Sampa Kalungu says law enforcement agencies must begin to administer a result oriented fight against the vice even as they continue to raid, impound property and detain suspects.

Mr. Kalungu says despite the existing zeal to fight corruption, stakeholders especially the investigative wings need to re-plan the fight against fraud while ensuring the country does not trade human rights for the fight against graft.

He adds that there is need for a predetermined system of how to use proceeds that will be recovered from the amnesty as was the case with the Faith Musonda case so that these resources are put to good use.
