TSHISEKEDI HAS LOST AGAIN: Court Rejects Ploy To Postpone Elections By Dismissing ‘Hired’ Opposition Candidates’ Request

The Constitutional Court in the Democratic Republic of Congo have thrown out an appeal by seven (7) opposition candidates requesting for the postponement of the 2023 General Elections.

Scared of the fierce competition, outgoing President Fèlix Tshisekedi had paid off seven candidates to file for the rescheduling of the election in order to prolong his stay in power.

The seven candidates led by Martin Fayulu of the ECiDe party and independent candidate Dr. Denis Mukwenge had citied irregularities in the electoral process as cause behind their request.

However on Thursday 14 December, the Constitutional Court, sitting on matters of constitutionality and interpretation, declared as unfounded the petition filed by the seven presidential candidates.

Meanwhile, the Independent Electoral Commission (CENI), through its President Denis Kadima, have once again confirmed elections will hold as scheduled on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. https://drcnewstoday.com/tshisekedi-has-lost-again-court-rejects-ploy-to-postpone-elections-by-dismissing-hired-opposition-candidates-request/
