TUJILIJILI DEATHS WORRY STATE
About two people die every week after allegedly consuming illicit tujilijili alcohol at Lusaka’s COMESA, Soweto and City Market, traders at the said markets have said.
And Government says it will soon hold a national strategic meeting with all local authorities to find a lasting solution to the worrisome drinking habits, especially among young people.
Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Wisdom Bwalya said the challenge has been enforcement of the already existing by-laws dealing with drinking potent spirits like tujilijili.
He said the drinking of tujilijili is a problem not only in Lusaka but across the country. “We have a problem especially that lives are lost due to excessive drinking.
