UPND ALLIANCE THANKS ZAMBIANS FOR MANDATE
Government has thanked Zambians for the mandate they gave the UPND Alliance to govern the country on August 12th, 2021.
Chief Government CHUSHI KASANDA says the UPND Alliance with the support of the people has worked hard to transform the country for the wellbeing of citizens during the two years in office.
Ms. KASANDA says the UPND found a huge debt that had suffocated the country’s economy, resulting from over-borrowing by its predecessors.
She adds that the UPND government has addressed the debt challenge by reaching a debt restructuring deal with the country’s official creditors.
Ms. KASANDA, who is also Information and Media Minister, adds that Government has also cleared the backlog of retirees who had not been paid for year by the previous administration.
She says government has also amended the law to enable those still in employment to access part of their pension contributions from NAPSA while meal allowances have been re-instated for students in public universities.
The Chief Government Spokesperson further notes that government in the past two years has also introduced free education.
Ms. KASANDA has also pointed at the increased Constituency Development Fund -CDF- from 1.6-million kwacha per constituency to the current 28.3 million kwacha in this year’s budget.
In a statement to ZNBC News, Ms. KASANDA has further pledged government’s commitment to do more to uplift the lives of citizens through provision of quality health care, ensuring households and national food security.
