The opposition UPND and the ruling Patriotic Front in Ndola District have signed a peace accord to denounce political violence and tribalism ahead of the August 12th elections and have pledged violent free campaigns for the remaining campaign days.

In attendance during the signing of the agreement in Ndola this morning was PF Aspiring candidates for Kabushi Bowman Lusambo, Ndola Central’s Brenda Mwamba and Kondwani Winga for Chifubu and the candidates for Kabushi Bernard Kanengo, Brian Phiri for Bwana Mkumbwa and Frank Tayali for Ndola Central.

Speaking at the event, PF Kabushi aspiring Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo said the signed accord is also in honor of late first president Dr. Kenneth Kaunda who preached and unity.

Mr. Lusambo said despite being in a competition, there is need to campaign on party manifestos and not engage in political violence, stating that the two parties have a relationship beyond politics.

And UNPD Ndola Central aspiring candidate Frank Tayali has advised all aspiring candidates in the district to desist from instructing their followers to engage in political violence.
