UPND names its candidates for next month vote
THE governing UPND has announced its candidates for the April 14, 2022 mayoral and ward by-elections.
Party elections committee chairman Gary Nkombo made the announcement at a media briefing at the UPND secretariat in Lusaka today.
Nkombo, who is Mazabuka Central member of parliament and local government and rural development minister, said the ruling party will go and campaign without any violence.
The adopted candidates are Peter Chanda for Lukutu ward of Lubansenshi Constituency of Luwingu district in Northern Province and Brian Chingula for Katimba ward of Monze Central Constituency of Monze district in Southern Province.
Meanwhile, Nkombo named Nyambe Muyumbana as the candidate for the Mongu mayoral race.
Filing in of nomination papers will be done on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
