Fellow citizens,

With my wife Mutinta, we have arrived in our beautiful tourist capital, Livingstone, Southern province of Zambia.

This is ahead of our counterpart, His Excellency, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda’s two day State visit starting tomorrow.

With President Kagame, we will discuss how the two Nations can tap into each other’s potential in order to spur economic growth.

We are optimistic that before we look elsewhere in pursuit of development, we must first look within, neighbouring countries, the region, Africa and the globe at large.

Zambia and Rwanda share a warm relationship in various sectors and while in office, we will ensure that this is grown even further.

In whatever we do, know that we do it with your best interest at heart and we have no doubt in our mind that the challenges before us, will definitely be overcome.

Zambia is not landlocked but land-linked and therefore, we are working round the clock to ensure that this God given geography position can benefit our country.

Zambia is getting better and indeed will be better.

May God bless Zambia and May God bless our brothers and sisters of Rwanda.

Hakainde Hichilema
President of the Republic of Zambia
