“Marijuana brings Lungu, Sinkamba together”

MARIJUANA-loving Green Party president Peter Sinkamba has made the Patriotic Front “greener” with an endorsement of President Edgar Lungu for the August 12 vote.

Sinkamba said although his party will field parliamentary and local government candidates, it would back President Lungu at presidential level.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka this morning, Sinkamba said he saw no need to be on the ballot paper when the PF was already moving to actualise his long-held dream of legalizing marijuana for medicinal and economic reasons.

Last week, health minister Dr Jonas Chanda told Parliament that Zambia National Service (ZNS) had been identified to be the first growers of cannabis for medicinal and industrial use on a trial basis.

Sinkamba said he was thrilled that that the PF-led government had decided to work with the Green Party to implement the legalization of marijuana businesses.

He said President Lungu should be allowed to continue beyond 2021 in order to keep the policy and implementation of the cannabis production on track.

According to Sinkamba, if managed properly, the cultivation of Marijuana was a lucrative economic undertaking that could help to demolish Zambia’s mountainous debt levels.

He expressed fear that voting out President Lungu would reverse the gains so far won in getting marijuana legalized.

Sinkamba said he also chose to endorse President Lungu because he didn’t feel any breeze indicating an imminent change of government.
