WYNTER KABIMBA ADVISES ON PRESIDENTIAL STATEMENT TO EXPEDITE AND CONCLUDE CORRUPTION CASES WITHIN 90-DAYS

Leader of the opposition Economic Front Party Wynter Kabimba says expediting and conclusion of corruption cases within 90-days will only be possible when government addresses the major challenges affecting the judiciary.

During the national address on the progress made in the application of national values and principles recently, President Hakainde Hichilema disclosed that corruption cases in courts will now be concluded in 90-days.

Reacting to this prouncements, Mr Kabimba who is also former justice minister says in the absence of responsiveness and accountability in the judiciary, it will be impossible to handle corruption cases within 90 days.

Mr Kabimba has told Phoenix News that government must now actualize the putting in place of systems and conditions that can ensure corruption cases are handled in a speedy and conclusive manner.

He explains that the timely disposal of cases in courts depend on several factors such as the availability of adequate number of judges and judicial officers, supporting court staff and physical infrastructure, co-operation of stakeholders such as investigation agencies, witnesses and litigants and proper application of rules and procedures.
