Suspected serial killer pleads guilty to 14 counts of murder, rape
A 27-YEAR-OLD suspected serial killer of Kitwe charged with 14 counts of murder and rape has pleaded guilty to all the offences in court.
Miguel Musonda, a businessman of Kandabwe Township, applied before Kitwe High Court to take a fresh plea early this week and when all the charges were read out, he admitted to having committed the offences while shedding tears.
“The court has recorded a plea of guilty in all the 14 counts and your matter has been adjourned to March 21, 2023 for written facts,” Kitwe High Court Judge Annie Musonda said.
Having pleaded not guilty to the charges initially, trial was supposed to commence on Tuesday but the suspect, charged with 11 counts of murder and three for rape, applied to take a fresh plea.
Musonda is accused of murdering Agnes Mwansa, Sylvia Mukosha, Edina Mubanga, Diana Mushibwa, Cynthia Bwalya, Cynthia Kapalwa, Lucy Kalowa and two unknown women and also of raping and killing Vivian Ngulube, Miriam Musonda and Agnes Musonda in January 2021.
He was initially subjected to a medical examination to ascertain if he was medically fit to stand trial and the report proved that he could do so.
