France-bound Businessman Excretes 93 Heroin Wraps At Abuja Airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a 40-year-old businessman, Sherif Egbo, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja while attempting to board an Air France flight to Paris, France.

This arrest was made after anti-narcotics agents detected that he had ingested illicit drugs during a body scan.

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA spokesperson, disclosed that Sherif Egbo, based in Madrid, Spain, was apprehended on October 14. A body scanner revealed that he had ingested wraps of illicit drugs in his stomach, leading to his arrest.

Babafemi said, “He was subsequently placed under observation at the agency’s exhibit recovery room where he excreted 93 pellets of heroin weighing 2.222 kilogrammes. In his statement, the suspect claimed he works at a chicken hatchery farm in Madrid, Spain, and also in the drug trafficking business.”

In addition, the NDLEA’s weekly communique reported that on October 16, at the NAHCO imports shed off the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, NDLEA operatives seized a consignment containing ten cartons, which held 500,000 pills of tramadol 225mg, branded as tapentadol.

This cargo, shipped from India through Qatar Airways, was supposed to be a transit cargo to Monrovia, Liberia. However, collaboration and real-time intelligence sharing between NDLEA and its Liberian counterpart revealed the true nature of the shipment.

Furthermore, another passenger, Ngene Chinecherem, attempted to export 11.100 kilograms of skunk and 600 grams of tramadol, concealed in foodstuffs, through the Lagos airport on Qatar Airways but was thwarted by NDLEA officers. Chinecherem was arrested, and the illicit substances were seized.

In another operation, NDLEA officers attached to courier companies intercepted 1 kilogram of methamphetamine concealed in containers of body cream intended for New Zealand. They also discovered a consignment of 2.5 kilograms of cocaine and phenacetin hidden in the walls of a carton destined for Saudi Arabia.

In another operation, 112 grams of Dimethyl Sulfone and 583 grams of cocaine and phenacetin were seized in Lagos.

In Imo State, operatives recovered 168 bags of skunk, weighing 1,854 kilograms, from an abandoned Mercedes Benz container truck. Additionally, in Edo State, multiple interdiction operations led to the seizure of 1,381.3 kilograms of the same substance in various locations.

Three individuals were arrested in Kano State, and 106 kilograms of cannabis were seized. One of the suspects, Aminu Suleiman, had previously been arrested with 22 kilograms of cannabis, convicted, and then re-arrested. In Kano, four other suspects were arrested for dealing 75.3 kilograms of skunk.

Operatives of the Zone J Command of the NDLEA seized 478 kilograms of cannabis in Ikere Ekiti, while the Ondo State Command recovered 928 kilograms of the same substance in different locations.

Lastly, in Borno State, a suspect named Sani Mohammed was arrested with 182 kilograms of cannabis at Njimtilo, along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road on October 21.

“Leaving a Man Because He Slept With Another Woman is Foolishness”: Shadaya Tears Into Lupita Nyong’o For Breaking Up With Her Boyfriend

0

Zimbabwean controversial social media influencer Shadaya Knight Tawona has launched a savage attack on Black Panther actress Lupita Nyong’o.

This comes after she announced her breakup with her South African boyfriend, Selema Masekela after 1-year relationship.

Lupita Nyong’o Breaks Up with Selema Masekela Over Cheating

In a lengthy post on her Instagram page, Lupita Nyong’o revealed that she has separated from Hugh Masekela’s son, Selema Masekela after he allegedly cheated.

While she did not divulge the full details about her breakup, she hinted at feelings of deception and betrayal.

Shadaya Criticizes Kenyan Actress Lupita
Taking to his X account, Shadaya argued that Lupita Nyong’o was delusional for breaking up her boyfriend.

“Lupita Nyongo in her 40s, walking away from her relationship because her man cheated is peak female delusion. Of course, the sisterhood will support such stupidity with the rhetoric “you deserve better queen” as if there’s any high-value man out there waiting to pick up a 40-year-old woman”

Shadaya argued that women walk away from relationships over cheating thinking the grass is greener on the other side, instead of resolving their issues.

“This is the problem today, many women actually convince themselves of walking away from their relationships instead of actually working on resolving issues, because they think the grass is greener out there”

He went on to make reference to South African actress Enhle Mbali who divorced her husband Dj Black over infidelity and later found herself in a complicated relationship situation

“Reminds me of Black Coffee’s wife Enhle Mbali, she walked out on her marriage because he cheated, and she convinced herself she deserved better. Now she’s a side chick to a married man. It’s sad, how they all end up on the same trajectory of self-destruction.”

Shadaya on How Men Are Polygamous By Nature
Furthermore, Shadaya emphasized that men are polygamous in nature. He went on to elaborate on some of the reasons why men cheat, arguing that it is a natural urge that is biologically embedded in them.

“Modern women truly lack the understanding of how a man behaves, something their mothers & grandmothers understood very well. Men are polygamous by nature, a man cheating at most has nothing to do with his woman, it doesn’t mean she lacks something or he doesn’t love her anymore

It’s simply the natural urge biologically embedded in them to seek variety, the urge to satisfy their libido. And the only thing that can stop a man cheating is cutting off his manhood, other than that, he will cheat at one point or the other”

He argued that leaving a man just because he has cheated is foolish.

“And there’s the need to understand that, men and women are not the same, they’re biological differences. It is foolish to hold men to the same standards of fidelity as women are held to

For a woman, fidelity is being sexually exclusive to one man. Whilst for man it’s something totally different. A man’s fidelity is being able to provide the 4Ps – provision, protection, proffer solutions & penetration to his woman

Leaving a man because he slept with another woman is foolishness. Learn OR perish!!!“

Suge Knight has announced that he is starting a podcast from prison that will address his beef with Snoop Dogg, Warren G and many others.

Suge Knight Announces Collect Call Podcast Recorded From Prison

On Friday (Oct. 20), Suge Knight’s Instagram account announced the official launch date for a new tell-all podcast titled Collect Call With Suge Knight. The currently incarcerated founder of Death Row Records will join Breakbeat Media CEO Dave Mays from prison to deliver “raw and unfiltered” conversations between Suge and what’s being described as “hip-hop culture’s most influential figures.”

The first episode of Collect Call With Suge Knight is set to premiere in audio form on Tues., Oct. 24, across all streaming platforms. The video version drops on Tues, Oct. 31 via the Breakbeat Media YouTube channel.

What Will Suge Knight Talk About on the Collect Call Podcast
In announcing the Collect Call podcast on IG, Suge and Breakbeat Media also shared a teaser trailer of what’s to come. The video below hints that Knight will offer his first-hand insight into the many controversies his name has been associated with through the years including the notorious history of Death Row Records and the murder of Tupac Shakur.

Apparently, a large focus of the prison-recorded conversations is placed on Suge Knight addressing longtime beef he’s had with hip-hop notables such as Snoop Dogg, Warren G, Master P, Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine.

Suge Knight Claims Tupac Shakur Was Not Killed by Orlando Anderson
The announcement of Suge Knight’s new podcast comes two weeks after the former Death Row CEO spoke out regarding the recent developments in Tupac Shakur’s murder case. After Duane “Keefe D” Davis was arrested for his role in the rap legend’s slaying late last month, Suge told TMZ that despite Keefe D’s admission that he was present during the 1996 shooting, he does not believe Orlando Anderson pulled the trigger.

“I’ll tell you this,” Suge Knight told the celebrity gossip site on Oct. 2. “I never had nothing bad to say about Orlando. No. 1, he wasn’t the shooter. No. 2, he came to my hearing and told [expletive] to let me go and told the truth. They still didn’t let me go…It wasn’t Anderson, that’s all I have to say about that part.”

Zimbabwean Woman “Wanted” In SA After Incendiary TikTok Video ‘Instigating’ Violence

TikTok Firestorm: Zimbabwean National Hunted for Allegedly Inciting Violence in SA

In a sensational turn of events, a Zimbabwean woman, Tsitsi Sharon Chihombori, has found herself at the centre of a social media storm after a TikTok video emerged that allegedly “instigated violence” in South Africa.

The controversial video, which has ignited outrage and a nationwide hunt for Chihombori, has taken social media by storm.

Incendiary TikTok Video Sparks Outrage

The explosive controversy began when TikTok user @Thulisilendabalin came forward with startling accusations. According to @Thulisilendabalin, Tsitsi Sharon Chihombori had produced a video that, in their words, “encouraged Somalians and other foreigners to kill South Africans.”

In her own words, she states,

“An illegal Zimbabwean Tsitsi Sharon Chihombori is wanted for instigating violence in South Africa. Tsitsi made a TikTok video encouraging Somalians and other foreigners to kill South Africans.”

The claims were shocking, raising concerns over potential violence and racial tensions in South Africa.

However, it is essential to clarify that she did not explicitly call for violence against South Africans. Instead, she urged foreigners to defend themselves against unruly South Africans.

Social Media Manhunt Commences
The TikTok video quickly gained attention, sparking a flurry of activity on social media platforms. South Africans took to social media to identify, locate, and report Tsitsi Chihombori to the authorities. In one striking TikTok video, user @thee_honourable_speaker exposed details about Tsitsi and her alleged husband.

@thee_honourable stated,

“Wreckless! This woman has already been found. Social media is not your friend. She is based somewhere in Germiston, and the supposed husband is a truck driver.”

This revelation further fueled the controversy surrounding Tsitsi Chihombori’s alleged actions.

Authorities Launch Investigation

As the TikTok scandal continues to unravel, South African authorities have reportedly launched an investigation into Tsitsi Chihombori’s actions. The potential consequences of her video and the ensuing social media manhunt remain to be seen.

South Africa’s government and law enforcement agencies are reportedly taking this incident very seriously.

The Power and Perils of Social Media

This incident underscores the incredible power and perils of social media in today’s society. While it has the ability to bring injustices to light and mobilize communities, it can also be a platform for spreading misinformation and inciting controversy.

This case serves as a reminder of the responsibility that comes with using these platforms.

The TikTok video controversy surrounding Tsitsi Sharon Chihombori has taken South Africa by storm, igniting outrage. While the accusations of inciting violence remain contentious, the power and perils of social media are on full display.

As the investigation unfolds, South Africa watches with bated breath to see the resolution of this sensational and potentially dangerous situation.

China investigates iPhone manufacturer in Taiwan

0

China is looking into Foxconn, a company that manufactures iPhones in Taiwan, according to Chinese state media.

According to the Global Times, who did not reveal their names, officials checked the taxes of Foxconn companies in two provinces in China.

Foxconn will work together with the investigation.

The company is the biggest producer of iPhones for Apple and is one of the largest employers globally.

The Global Times reported that China’s department responsible for natural resources visited and inspected the land use of important Foxconn businesses in Henan and Hubei provinces.

The company Foxconn says that following the laws in every country where they operate is very important to them.

“We will work together and assist other groups in the tasks and operations,” it stated.

Terry Gou, the person who started Foxconn, is now running for president in Taiwan on his own, without the support of any political party. The election is scheduled to happen in January.

As Beijing has become more forceful in claiming power over the self-governed island, presidential candidates are sharing their different ideas on how to react.

Mr Gou has established himself as a different option compared to the current Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). He gained this position because of his many years of working in China. The DPP is viewed as unfriendly towards Beijing.

However, he said he was not afraid of China when he announced his intention to run for office. He explained that if the Chinese Communist party threatened to take away his assets from Foxconn if he didn’t obey them, he would actually welcome it.

He quit being on Foxconn’s board in September when he said he was going to run for president. He gave control of the company to someone else in 2019 when he said he wanted to be president, but he still owns 12. 5%

At that time, he belonged to a big political party in Taiwan called the Kuomintang (KMT). The KMT is known for having friendly relations with Beijing.

The Global Times said that in Taiwan, some people think that Foxconn is being looked into because its boss, Mr. Gou, is running for president.

But the government newspaper also said that Chinese experts believe the investigation is normal and legal, because all companies have to go through tax inspections.

The Global Times mentioned experts who think that the investigation might affect the elections. If the people who want Taiwan to separate from China win the elections, it would be very bad for the peace and stability of the area. Chinese people from both sides, including those in business, should join forces to avoid this disaster.

Beijing says countries can’t be friends with both China and Taiwan, so Taiwan only has a few countries it can officially be friends with. The US is Taiwan’s biggest supporter, even though it only has formal diplomatic relations with China.

Some people think that China is investigating Apple as a way to retaliate against the US for imposing sanctions on them.

Rachel Winter, an investment partner at Killik & Co, told the BBC’s Today program that it seems like this could be a response to the sanctions imposed by the US.

The US has put many restrictions on China to try and reduce their technological power, and it seems like by targeting Foxconn, they will also be hurting Apple, which is one of the most successful American companies.

Israel-Hamas conflict could spread to the Middle East – Sunak

0

Rishi Sunak stated that the actions done by Hamas are terrible, and there is no good reason for them. He said this while a large number of people were protesting in central London against Israel’s restriction of movement in the Gaza Strip.

The prime minister came back from a very fast tour of the Middle East where he had urgent discussions with the leaders of Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt about how to stop the situation from getting worse and war from happening.

He emphasized that the fighting between Israel and Hamas could lead to more conflicts in the surrounding area.
The Prime Minister said that everyone they talked to this week strongly believes that we must do everything we can to prevent a spreading conflict in the area.

‘We should continue to aim for a future with peace and stability as we unite against terrorism. ‘

He left just as President Biden announced that President Sisi of Egypt agreed to open the Rafah crossing so that 20 trucks of aid could enter Gaza.

Sunak said that the opening represented what is possible through diplomacy.

He said: ‘The opening of the Rafah crossing into Gaza shows how diplomacy can work, with the US, Israel, and Egypt making an agreement to make sure that essential help gets to the Palestinian people. ‘

We are working closely with Egypt to make sure that the UK helps provide Palestinians with the important things they urgently require, such as food, water, and medicine.

The Prime Minister and the foreign secretary both went on separate trips to Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar at the same time.

James Cleverly said that he wants British people currently stuck in Gaza to be able to leave by using the Rafah crossing. He acknowledged that it is currently not safe for them to do this.

‘At the end, we want the Rafah crossing to be safe enough so that people from other countries in Gaza can go away,’ he said to the Sunday Times.

We will only call British citizens forward to leave Gaza when we are sure they will have enough time to leave safely. But right now, we are not able to do so.

He mentioned that they were working closely with the Egyptian government, Qataris, and other countries in the area, like Israel, to create a stable situation for a considerable period of time. This stability would allow British citizens to have a real chance of leaving the region safely.

Two of Donald Trump’s former attorneys enter guilty pleas over election meddling

0

Two lawyers who used to work for President Donald Trump have admitted they did something wrong to interfere in the 2020 presidential election.

Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro admitted their guilt about six crimes related to scheming to disrupt election duties.

Powell and Chesebro were among 19 people who were accused by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in August for trying to change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

The people being accused are the former President Trump and the former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Powell became well-known right after the 2020 election when she appeared with Giuliani and other Trump supporters, strongly claiming that the election was stolen through fraudulent means.

Powell said she would file many lawsuits in states that Biden won, like Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona.

She said, ‘I am going to let loose the Kraken,’ during a well-known interview on Fox Business in November 2020.

Most of the lawsuits that Powell filed were either dropped or dismissed by the courts.
The charges filed in August said that Powell helped plan a plan to hack into voting machines in Coffee County, which is a small countryside area in southeastern Georgia.

Chesebro was accused of trying to make a fake group of electors for Georgia, hoping that Vice President Mike Pence would choose them instead of the real electors chosen by the state.

The indictment says that Chesebro made a plan for 16 people from Georgia to sign fake certificates saying they were elected and qualified.

The vice president did not agree to accept Chesebro’s other electors in the end.
Both Powell and Chesebro said they would not agree to a plea deal if prosecutors suggested it.

Powell made an agreement with the court that she will be put on probation for six years and have to pay a fine of $6,000. She also said she would help prove Trump’s guilt in court if asked.

Also, Chesebro will have to follow certain rules and be supervised for five years. They will also have to help the community for 100 hours and give $5,000 as a punishment.

Venezuela opposition conducts vote to select candidate for unity

0

Venezuela’s opposition is having a vote to pick someone to run for president in 2024.

Opposition parties have arranged the poll without any assistance from the National Electoral Council, which is led by a close friend of President Nicolás Maduro.

MrMaduro, who has been the leader since 2013, is likely to try to become the leader again in the 2024 election.

The opposition believes that their best way to defeat him is by coming together and supporting one candidate.

Opposition parties have not participated in previous presidential elections because many of their candidates were either imprisoned or disqualified from running. But they want to participate in 2024 even though they know it will be difficult.

They discussed their plan to have a primary election as soon as May 2022 and officially shared the news in October 2022.

But when they asked the National Electoral Council (CNE) for help to organize the primary, the CNE, which is mostly made up of people who support the government, did not respond until September 2023. At that time, the CNE recommended delaying the primary until November.

The opposing group said no and decided to plan and hold the primary election on their own. It says there will be over 3,000 places where people can vote.

The group of 13 candidates has become smaller to just 10 people. This happened because Henrique Capriles, who has tried to become president before but didn’t succeed, Freddy Superlano from the Popular Will party, and Roberto Enríquez from the Copei party, decided to not participate in the race anymore.
Polls show that the clear favorite is María Corina Machado, a 56-year-old former politician.

Although it is highly likely that Ms. Machado will win the primary, it is uncertain what will happen if she is selected.

This is because Ms Machado has been forbidden from being in charge for 15 years. She was banned in June by the comptroller-general, Elvis Amoroso, who is a friend of Maduro and now leads the CNE.

MsMachado is sure that if she wins the primary election, the government will feel so much pressure that they will put her back in her previous position.
On Tuesday, there was an agreement signed in Barbados between opposition negotiators and government representatives. However, there was confusion about a certain aspect of the agreement. The opposition negotiator believed it allowed disqualified candidates to participate in elections, while the leader of the government delegation disagreed with this interpretation.

The United States made some of its restrictions on Venezuela’s oil and gas industry less strict because Venezuela agreed to let international observers monitor its presidential election in 2024.

The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, was happy about the agreement, but gave a warning that the US could put sanctions back if the government of Maduro in Venezuela does not start allowing opposition presidential candidates by the end of November.

Israeli Arabs detained after postings on Gaza’s social media

0

Many Arab citizens of Israel have been taken into custody because of what they said on social media about the war in Gaza.

One of them is a famous singer and influencer named Dalal Abu Amneh from Nazareth. She was kept in police custody for two days before being let go on Wednesday after paying bail. She is currently not allowed to leave her house until Monday.

As per Abeer Baker, her lawyer, she was accused by the police officers of behaving badly. They claimed that her posts could make her followers become violent.

The picture that caught the police’s attention was a photo of the Palestinian flag with a saying in Arabic that means “Only God wins. ”

Ms Baker says the singer, who is famous in the Arab world for singing about Palestinian culture, was expressing her religious beliefs. Israeli authorities believed that the singer’s post was encouraging Palestinians to take up weapons.

Since the war began between Israel and Hamas, the police in Israel have taken a strict approach towards social media posts that show support for Hamas. Hamas is a group that wants to destroy Israel and is considered a terrorist group by Israel, the US, UK, and other countries.

Ms Abu Amneh, who is an Arab citizen of Israel, was arrested along with many other people for posting about the war on social media.

A lot of people have been stopped from working or fired from their jobs, or face punishment from their universities.

Israeli Arabs, also known as Palestinian citizens of Israel, make up about 20% of the population in Israel.

The police have looked into and arrested over 100 individuals for their online activities since Hamas attacked. Sixty-three people have been arrested and questioned in Jerusalem only.

Israel’s Police Commissioner, Yaakov Shabtai, said that if anyone encourages others to oppose or harm Israel, its government, its elected officials, its military, or its police, the Israel Police will respond strongly and without being lenient.

Adalah, an organization that advocates for the rights of Arab minorities in Israel, thinks that more people are being held in custody because there have been more recent arrests.

During the Israel-Gaza conflict in May 2021, a report from Adalah stated that only 16 individuals were charged with inciting violence. Out of these 16 people, 15 were Arab.

Human rights advocates are concerned that the recent increase in arrests is because the police are now considering more behaviors as potentially encouraging violence.

In Rahat, a city in the desert, the police have arrested a person named Dr. Amer al-Huzail He was running for mayor in the past. He posted on social media a map of the Gaza Strip, along with his thoughts on what might happen if Israeli forces were to start a mission on the ground there.

Because of this, people have accused him of helping the enemy during a time of war.
However, some people in Israel are still experiencing severe outcomes for their social media posts, even if they are not charged with any crimes.

According to lawyers from Adalah, they have received more than 40 cases where Israeli Arab workers were suspended or fired from their jobs unexpectedly.

Salam Irsheid, a lawyer at the organization, said that sometimes people’s jobs and way of making a living are in danger just because they give a like to a social media post. We have a worker who might lose their job for liking a news report about the Gaza situation on social media.

Arab students in Israel’s universities are also being disciplined by their schools.

Last week, the president of Tel Aviv University, Ariel Porat, mentioned that a small number of students were identified for showing “approval of the terrible actions by Hamas”.

“We will be very tough on these few students,” he wrote on the university’s website, “and if we believe their actions are against the law, we will inform the police. ” We will respond quickly, as needed in this sensitive situation, but we will make sure that every student gets a fair investigation.

Lawyers from Adalah have heard from 83 students who were suspended from schools in different parts of the country. In certain situations, these students were also asked to leave their housing suddenly.

None of the situations are about doing things, showing things, or taking part in things that are against the law. Hassan Jabareen, the general director of Adalah, says that they are mostly focused on the things people post on social media.

He says that most of the posts are against the war and Israel’s actions in Gaza. They also support the victims of the war in Gaza.

10% of the posts can be seen as indirectly supporting the actions of Hamas against innocent people.

“In usual circumstances, those posts wouldn’t be understood in that way, but nowadays Israel has a tendency to interpret them in the most severe manner. ”

The public is very angry about the attack by Hamas, which killed over 1,400 people, mostly innocent people, in areas close to the Gaza Strip. They are also upset with Jewish Israelis who are asking for things to calm down.

On the previous Sunday, Israel Frey, a well-known journalist from the left-wing ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, had to be taken away from his home in Tel Aviv by the police to keep him safe.

A group of people gathered outside the building and fired flares at his apartment because he posted a video on social media where he was praying for the people in Gaza.

And on Wednesday, Ofer Cassif, who is a Jewish lawmaker for the Arab-led Hadash-Taal alliance, was temporarily removed from the Israeli parliament for 45 days because he strongly criticized the bombing of Gaza.

He recently posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) and criticized the police for not acting quickly to protect Mr. Frey

“Police with weapons are sent to arrest anyone who displays even a small amount of understanding or compassion for the killings in Gaza,” he wrote.

However, the police do not want to keep a left-wing journalist safe when their life is at risk.

Ukraine worries about drone shortage after Chinese restrictions

0

Drones have had a big impact on the war in Ukraine, used a lot by both sides. China’s decision to limit the amount of goods it exports has raised worries that there might be a shortage of supplies.

A lot of these things are made in China and bought ready to use. We need more supplies because many of them get lost in the fighting.

However, it seems like there may be fewer Chinese drones and drone parts accessible to both Ukraine and Russia.

Based on a report by a London think tank called the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi), Ukraine loses around 10,000 drones every month.

Many volunteer groups have used donated money to help the Ukrainian army get new supplies.

Commercial drones are used together with military drones that are specifically made for fighting, like the Turkish Bayraktar drones used by Ukraine and the Iranian Shaheds used by Russia.

The Chinese government recently put new rules in place starting from 1 September. These rules are for bigger drones that weigh more than 4kg. They also apply to certain equipment like cameras and radio modules that are used with drones.

Chinese manufacturers of this equipment now have to ask for permission to sell it overseas and give certificates to show who will use it. The government in Beijing, which has not criticized Russia for invading Ukraine, says Chinese drones should only be used for business, not military, reasons.

Ukrainian volunteers and soldiers are not greatly affected by the recent Chinese restrictions on drones. The popular lightweight Mavic drones made by DJI are still easily available.
But, they are saying that there is a problem getting the parts they need, and they are also worried that it might get even worse later on.

Lyuba Shypovych, the leader of Dignitas, a big Ukrainian volunteer group that provides the military with drones, said that the only difference for now is that they are buying the remaining stock in European warehouses more actively. “But we don’t know what we will be doing in the future. ”

She is very concerned about whether there will be enough thermal imaging cameras available.

The shorter days and longer nights are affecting our military supplies and how we conduct warfare because we have fewer thermal imaging drones. She said our units cannot see well at night. This impacts both drones that are already made and come with thermal imaging cameras, as well as the individual parts used to build drones.

It is especially important to have enough parts for people who build their own drones or make upgrades on ones they bought.

The effect is being noticed. According to a drone operator named Oddr, China’s license restrictions have reduced Ukraine’s ability to acquire drone parts. “However, we are searching for other options to ensure that our drones continue to function just like they did previously. ”

This is the most recent problem that volunteers have in getting drones for the Russian and Ukrainian armies.

The biggest company that makes drones for business, DJI, stopped selling directly to both countries two months after the big attack started in February 2022. They also stopped their distributors everywhere in the world from selling DJI products to customers in Russia or Ukraine.

Ms Shypovych said that there were a lot fewer Chinese drones for sale in Europe between August and September 2022.

It’s doubtful that it occurred randomly. “She says European countries are where Ukrainians get drones from. ”

When the BBC asked DJI, they couldn’t say for sure if the number of drones they were giving to distributors in Europe had changed or not.

None of the 10 UK companies that sell DJI products and were asked by the BBC were able to comment on the issue.

A recent investigation by The New York Times found that Chinese companies have reduced the number of drones and parts they sell to people in Ukraine.

However, other countries are also impacted by this situation, not just Ukraine.

Russia’s Kommersant newspaper said that the regulations put in place by China’s government on drone exports have made it very difficult for Russia to receive the supplies they need. This has caused a shortage of certain parts, like thermal imaging cameras.

When Russian buyers can’t get drones directly, they often go to other countries like Kazakhstan to buy Chinese drones. However, it has become tougher for them because Kazakhstan has made its own rules about importing drones.

To reduce the effects of the Chinese restrictions, Ukrainian volunteers have been working hard to find other options made in different countries, both in the West and Ukraine.

Anatoly Polkovnikov, who assists in getting drones, shares that a Ukrainian start-up is getting ready to start producing drone motors.

He believes that the Chinese restrictions won’t affect the overall situation and is hopeful for the future. I think that in the future, they will encourage more production in Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine is the first time drones have been used in a big way, and both sides want to continue using them a lot.

OPENING REMARKS MADE BY THE PATRIOTIC VICE PRESIDENT AT THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON SUNDAY 22ND OCTOBER 2024

THE NATIONAL CHAIRPERSON, HON. DAVIES CHAMA

THE SECRETARY GENERAL, HON. RAPHAEL NAKACINDA

MEMBERS OF THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE

MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA PRESENT AND TO OUR DEAR AUDIENCE WATCHING US ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

WE HAVE LEARNT WITH DEEP SADNESS, THE PASSING ON OF A GALLANT PUBLIC OFFICER, HON, AMUSA MWANAMWAMBWA.

AFTER SERVING THIS COUNTRY DILIGENTLY AS A DIPLOMAT, JOURNALIST, LAW MAKER, CABINET MINISTER AND SPEAKER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, HE HAS PASSED ON AFTER BATTLING WITH CANCER AND HAS NOW GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD.

MAY WE STAND AND OBSERVE A MOMENT OF SILENCE IN HONOUR OF HON. AMUSA
MWANAMWAMBA.

THANK YOU.

WE ARE HOLDING THIS SPECIAL CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING TO ATTEND TO VARIOUS ISSUES DESIGNED TO STRENTHEN OUR PARTY AND TO HELP BUILD UNITY ACROSS THE STRUCTURES OF THE PARTY.

WE HAVE EXPRESSED CONCERN AT THE UGLY DEVELOPMENT OF INDISCIPLINE IN THE PARTY. IN MANY INSTANCES, THE INDISCIPLINE HAS BEEN PERPETRATED BY SENIOR MEMBERS OF THE PARTY.

BE ASSURED THAT THIS DEVELOPMENT WILL BE ARRESTED AND PERSONS PROMOTING DIVISIONS, INDISCIPLINE AND ACTIVTIES MEANT TO UNDERMINE THE PARTY WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

ZAMBIANS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE OPPOSITION AND TO THE PATRIOTIC FRONT IN PARTICULAR, TO SAVE THEM FROM THIS RUTHLESS, OPPRESSIVE AND DIRECTIONLESS GOVERNMENT.

IT IS THEREFORE INCUMBENT UPON US TO BUILD AN ALTERNATIVE PARTY THAT ZAMBIANS CAN LOOK UP TO WITH HOPE
AND ENTHUSIASM THAT THERE IS A PARTY THAT CAN RESCUE THEM FROM THE SHACKLES OF IMPERIALISM, POVERTY, DISEASES, UNEMPLOYMENT AND HIGH COST OF LIVING.

KCM/VEDANTA DEAL

THE ANNOUNCEMENT IN PARLIAMENT BY MINISTER OF MINES AND MINERALS DEVELOPMENT, HON. PAUL KABUSWE THAT GOVERNMENT MADE A VERBAL AGREEMENT, A GENTLEMAN’S AGREEMENT TO FACILITATE THE RETURN OF VEDANTA TO KCM IS A DEEP SCANDAL.

FOLLOWING THE ANNOUNCEMENT,
MR. ANIL AGARWAL OWNER OF VEDANTA RESOURCES ANNOUNCED THAT HE WOULD MAKE AVAILABLE THE RECLAIMED 79.4% SHAREHOLDING IN KCM TO SHORE UP THE BOOKS OF VEDANTA RESOURCES THAT IS LADDEN WITH A DEBT OF OVER US$6-US$9BILLION.

WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT A FORENSIC AUDIT WAS DONE THAT EXPOSED THAT VEDANTA WERE CHEATING ON TAXES, WERE ENGAGED IN MINING METHODS THAT DEGRADED THE ASSETS OF THE MINE, HAD FAILED TO DEVELOP KONKOLA DEEP MINING AS AGREED AT INVESTMENT STAGE, OWED
ZAMBIA REVENUE AUTHORITY, ZESCO LTD, CEC, NAPSA AND CONTRACTORS AND SUPPLIERS. THE TOTAL DEBT WAS OVER US$1.5BILLION.

THIS WAS THE BACKGROUND THAT IN 2018, NECCESSITATED THE DECISIONS OF GOVERNMENT ON KCM.

SO, WHAT HON. KABUSWE IS DOING IS A CRIME AND MUST BE TREATED AS SUCH.

WE UNDERSTAND THAT VEDANTA RESOURCES HAS DEMANDED THAT GOVERNMENT TAKES UP THIS LIABILITY OR CAUSES THE WRITE-OFF OF THIS US$1.5BILLION TO THE BENEFIT OF VEDANTA.

HOWEVER,DESPITE THE ZEAL BY HON.KABUSWE TO CAUSE THIS HUGE LOSS TO THE COUNTRY. WE UNDERSTAND
ALSO THAT THERE ARE PATRIOTIC ZAMBIANS IN GOVERNMENT THAT HAVE REFUSED TO BE PART OF THIS
HIGH-LEVEL CRIME.

ZNS MEALIE MEAL

WE HAVE NOTED THAT FOOD RESERVE AGENCY HAS ONLY PURCHASED 345,000 METRIC TONNES OF MAIZE AS AT 26TH SEPTEMBER 2023. IN THE PRECEDING YEARS, BY SEPTEMBER THE AGENCY WOULD HAVE BOUGHT ALMOST ONE MILLION METRIC TONNES EVEN IF WE ONLY BUDGETED FOR 500,000 METRIC TONNES.

DESPITE THE HIGH PRICE OFFERS AND CASH INCENTIVES ON THE SPOT, FRA HAS ONLY BOUGHT 345,000 METRIC TONNES,
OUR FOOD SECURITY IS THREATENED AS NEW HARVEST IS ONLY EXPECTED NEXT YEAR.

WE KNOW THEREFORE THAT THERE IS NO ENOUGH MAIZE IN THE COUNTRY INCLUDING NATIONAL FOOD SECURITY, ZAMBIA CONSUMES ABOUT 200,000 METRIC TONNES PER MONTH FOR BOTH HUMAN
AND ANIMAL CONSUMPTION.

QUESTIONS HAVE RISEN OVER THE ZNS MEALIE-MEAL;

  1. UNTIL RECENTLY ZNS HAS BEEN SELLING MEALIE-MEAL AT K150. WE HAVE NOTED THAT THE DEAL WITH SHOPRITE RETAIL CHAIN SELLS MEALIE-MEAL AT K230! WE MUST EMPHASISE THAT EVEN K230 THE PRICE IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE.
  2. IN MAY 2023, AT THE HEIGHT OF THE SHORTAGE OF MEALIE-MEAL, GOVERNMENT FINALLY HALTED BOTH MAIZE AND MEALIE-MEAL EXPORTS AFTER MONTHS OF RELENTLESS EXPORTS.

THESE EXPORTS HAVE DEPLETED OUR NATIONAL MAIZE GRAIN RESERVES. HOWEVER, GOVERNMENT GAVE AUTHORITY TO BUSINESSPERONS TO IMPORT DUTY FREE MEALIE-MEAL FROM SOUTH AFRICA.

DESPITE PROTESTATIONS FROM STAKEHOLDERS ESPECIALLY THAT THE
ZAMBIA BIO-SAFETY ACT OF 2007 BANS THE IMPORTATION OF GMO AND GMO PRODUCTS,ESPECIALLY THOSE CONNECTED TO NATIONAL CROPS OF INTERESTS LIKE MAIZE. GOVERNMENT CLAIMED THAT THIS IMPORT WAS IN YTRANSIT AND DESTINED TO THE DRC. OF COURSE, IT DIDN’T MAKE SENSE.

GOVERNMENTWHERE IS THIS MEALIE-MEAL? THERE ARE STRONG
ALLEGATIONS THAT THESE IMPORTS ARE BEING RTEBAGGED. IF THIS IS TRUE, THIS WILL BE CRIMINAL AND WOULD AMOUNT TO FEEDING THE COUNTRY ON GMO PRODUCTS AGAINST THE LAW AND AGAINST THEIR CONSENT. WE DEMAND TRANSPARENCY.

SALE OF ASSETS BY NAPSA

WE HAVE NOTED THAT NAPSA HAS PUT UP PRIME BUILDINGS AND PRIME PLOTS FOR SALE. THESE INCLUDE YORK FARM BEING SOLD AT K466M ($23MILLION), UNDEVELOPED LAND IN NYUMBAYANGA
HOUSING COMPLEX, PRIME PROPERTIES IN LUSAKA CBD AND OTHERS.

WE ALSO NOTED THAT AFRICA LIFE FINANCIAL SERVICES, A COMPANY LONG ASSOCIATED WITH PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA WAS GIVEN THE US$40MILLION ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION FUND
UNDER THE MINISTRY OF MINES AND MINERALS DEVELOPMENT.

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA IS BACK TO FINISH WHAT HE DIDN’T DO IN THE 1990S WHEN HE PARTICPATED IN THE PRIVATISATION PROGRAMME OF STATE ASSETS.

WE SHOULD RECOGNISE THAT THIS PROGRAMME RUN BY THE IMF DE-INDUSTRIALISED OUR COUNTRY, OUR MANUFACTURING AND INDUSTRIAL BASE WAS DECIMATED AND THE HIGH RATE OF
UNEMPLOYMENT WAS SPAWNED FROM THIS PRGRAMME, ZAMBIANS BE AWARE.

IN THE PAST, PRESIDENT HICHILEMA WAS PERIPHERAL TO GOVERNMENT, BUT
NOW HE IS PRESIDENT.

UPND CONSOLIDATES PARTY TO PARTY TIES WITH CPC OF CHINA

October- 22, 2023.

$15 BILLION DOLLARS ZNS COPPER SMELTER ON CARDS

$15 BILLION DOLLARS ZNS SMELTER ON CARDS.

Zambia National Service (ZNS) will in two months’ time commence the setting up of a USD 15 billion dollar copper smelting plant in Kabompo district of North Western Province, Zambia National Service Commander Lieutenant General Maliti Solochi has disclosed.

Lt Gen Solochi said the Government has already secured the funds from China for what is expected to be the largest copper smelter in Africa and cannot wait to commence works on the project.

And Special Assistant to the President for Policy Compliance, Mr Joseph Lungu says President Hakainde Hichilema’s agenda is to transform people’s lives through enhanced economic activities and improved livelihoods.

Mr Lungu says the establishment of smelter in Chief Sikufele’s Chiefdom will see the creation of a community development trust that will enable residents of the area to directly benefit from resources generated from the plant.

“It is important that projects such as this one are allowed in your community in order to break the cycle of poverty,” the Special Assistant to the President said.

The two were speaking at an interactive forum with some residents of Kabompo, led by their village headmen, yesterday in Kapona area.

The ZNS Chief disclosed the project is expected to commence before the end of this year and that it will run side by side a robust agricultural production venture the Service will also establish in the same District.

He further revealed that the project will be a joint venture with some Chinese investor.

On the other hand, Mr Lungu assured the residents that Government will ensure employment opportunities are first given to the local people in line with the President Hakainde’s thrust of attracting businesses that positively impact the lives of those living in areas where they are situated.

The two allayed possible fears that residents could be displaced as a result of the planned investment, stating that the project once implemented will help to support continued productivity extension services.

Meanwhile, Kabompo District Commissioner, Mr Albert Chinyanga and area Council Chairperson, Mr Makayi Presley both expressed delight at the prospect of such a huge investment being set up in their District.

The duo asserted that the project will not only enable ZNS to contribute to the growth of country’s Gross Demostic Product (GDP) but will also bring development to the area and create many employment opportunities for the locals.

And residents have overwhelmingly welcomed the project saying it is going to bring about improvements in their lives.

Senior Chief Sikufele’s representative Mr Caphas Kathongo Sitenge said his Royal Highness together with majority of the headmen and residents were anxious to see the commencement of the project.

20,000 hectares of land has been allocated to ZNS to set up a smelting plant and engage in agricultural production.

President Hichilema Pays Tribute to Archbishop Peter Ndhlovu

0

President Hakainde Hichilema has eulogized Archbishop Peter Ndhlovu, the founder of the Bible Gospel Church in Africa (BIGOCA), describing him as a selfless man who served the Church with dignity. He also noted that Archbishop Ndhlovu played a significant role in uniting the nation during challenging times.

During the funeral service at the Holy Ghost Center in Lusaka’s Matero area, President Hichilema praised Archbishop Ndhlovu for his involvement in the transition of governments in Zambia in 1991, 2011, and 2021. He explained that the late clergyman provided valuable spiritual advice and prayers during these important political transitions.

President Hichilema acknowledged Archbishop Ndhlovu’s contributions to peaceful political transitions in the country, emphasizing that the Archbishop was part of the clergy who played a crucial role in ensuring a harmonious shift in power.

The President also highlighted Archbishop Ndhlovu’s decision to continue preaching in the Reformed Church in Zambia after his excommunication in 2001, showcasing his lack of hatred for his previous church. President Hichilema urged Zambians to learn from the late Archbishop, underscoring his qualities as a hardworking, loving, and unifying figure.

Furthermore, Former Electoral Commission of Zambia Chairperson Esau Chulu spoke about his strong friendship with Archbishop Ndhlovu, emphasizing their deep social bond cultivated over many years. He noted that their friendship extended beyond formal occasions, with the two often taking time to enjoy tea together.

Former Church of God Overseer John Mambo also shared his memories of Archbishop Ndhlovu, highlighting the late clergyman’s crucial role in offering prayers for the sick. Bishop Mambo recounted how Archbishop Ndhlovu had visited him on five separate occasions, including late-night visits, to pray for him during near-death experiences.

The funeral service for Archbishop Peter Ndhlovu was an occasion for many to remember his contributions to both the Church and the nation, as well as his personal qualities as a unifier and spiritual guide.

CAPITALISM HAS FOR CENTURIES FAILED OUR PEOPLE- Fred M’membe

CAPITALISM HAS FOR CENTURIES FAILED OUR PEOPLE

Socialism is about a better life for all our people anchored on equity, solidarity, humility and honesty. And socialism has shown how poor nations can get out of poverty in the shortages historical times. Look at the achievements of Cuba – a country fought and blockaded for over 63 years. Without the minerals Zambia has, Cuba in 2020 had a GDP of around 107.35 billion U.S. dollars. GDP is an important indicator of a country’s economic power.

GDP in Zambia was expected to reach 24.00 USD Billion by the end of 2021. In the long-term, the Zambia GDP which has been pursuing unbridled neoliberal capitalist policies for more than 30 years is projected to trend around 27.00 USD Billion in 2023, according to some econometric models.

India’s socialist state of Kerale is leading in many economic and social indicators and scientific achievements. Whatever their attempts to credit China’s achievements to capitalism, that is a great socialist state pursuing socialism with Chinese characteristics. And this what its leaders say. They attribute their economic successes to socialism. We also have the successes of Vietnam.

The ignorant attempt to smear socialism and socialists to hide their greed and corruption quest to become billionaires won’t do. No matter what they say or do socialism will one day triumph in our homeland. Capitalism has for centuries failed our people. Let them show us where capitalism has succeeded in Africa?

And more interesting is the fact that the most achievements scored in Zambia can be attributed to certain socialist inspired principles that were implemented in the country. The creation of free education, infrastructure development, creation of state-owned enterprises that employed many and some which still stand today are as a result of having a human face towards national economic development which in itself is socialism. Most leaders today who are a product of free education and other socially oriented programmes want to ridicule a system that moved them from poverty and then support imperialist policies that only benefit a few foreign interests.

Zambia definitely needs a citizen led economic development agenda which under a socialist government will be attained.

We want Zambians who can have genuine businesses and not these crooked dealers, tenderpreneurs calling themselves businessmen. Like China, Zambia will manage to free its people from poverty through socialism with Zambian characteristics. It’s socialism and only socialism that can guarantee us a better life and prosperity.

33 Year Old Kapiri Mposhi Teacher Jailed 12 Months For Threatening To Shoot Fellow Teacher

0

33 YEAR OLD KAPIRI MPOSHI TEACHER JAILED 12 MONTHS FOR THREATENING TO SHOOT FELLOW TEACHER

A 33-year-old Kapiri Mposhi class teacher has been sentenced to 12-months imprisonment for threatening to shoot to death another man, using his father’s gun, whom he accused of having an affair with his girlfriend.

ZANIS reports that before Kapiri Mposhi magistrate Arnold Kasongamulilo was Mwenya Yambala of Kawama compound who was charged with one count of threatening violence contrary to Section 90 (a) of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Particulars before court were that on August 18, 2023 Yambala accused Kalunga Kunda, 26, a fellow teacher of having an affair with his girlfriend and picked a quarrel with him.

Later in the day, Yambala went to Kunda’s home in Hilltop residential area with a pistol loaded with three rounds of ammunition which he pointed at Kunda and threatened to shoot and kill him for allegedly flirting with his girlfriend.

However, some members of the public in the neighborhood restrained Yambala before he left Kunda’s residence.

The court heard that Kunda later reported Yambala to the Zambia Police for threatening violence on him, saying his life was in danger which led to the arrest of Yambala who was subsequently charged with the subject offence.

At the end of the prosecution case, Yambala was placed on his defence.

And In his defence, Yambala refuted allegations that he threatened violence on Kunda using a pistol telling the court that he just used a word of mouth and that he had carried a firearm because he was going hunting the time he confronted Kunda.

But Yambala’s father, George Mwenya, 67, who was his witness in the matter acknowledged that he had noticed that his gun was missing from his bedroom for some time and he reported the matter to the police for the missing firearm.

Mwenya testified that he only learnt that his son is the one who took the gun following his arrest for threatening to shoot at Kunda.

He told the court that at no time did his son ask him for a gun to use for hunting.

In mitigation, Yambala begged the court to exercise leniency on him stating that he was the only one keeping his father and a brother who are living with disabilities adding that he was also looking after a child that he has with his girlfriend.

But in passing judgement, magistrate Kasongamulilo observed that the behaviour that Yambala exhibited was unacceptable and if the court does not mete out a custodial sentence on him, people’s lives would be at risk.

Magistrate Kasongamulilo stated that the offence of threatening violence, whether by word of mouth or using a gun attracts a custodial sentence of five years imprisonment with hard labour.

” I will send you to jail so that you can reflect on your behaviour. I’m sentencing you to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour,” Magistrate Kasongamulilo said.

President Hichilema Take A Visit Shoprite Stores Checking The Prices Of Essential Commodities Including Mealie Meal

Hichilema goes to see for himself

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema spent part of his Saturday afternoon in Shoprite on Lusaka’s Cairo Road checking the prices of essential commodities including mealie meal.

In the wake of rising mealie meal prices, Government has recently offloaded cheaper Zambia National Service-produced mealie meal.

The Head of State and his team say they are working to make the price of the staple food even lower.

As weekend shoppers were going around the business, they were shocked to see an unlikely face in the chainstore.

Lo and behold, it was the President himself pushing a trolley.

Straight from attending the funeral service of Bible Gospel Church in Africa (BIGOCA) overseer Archbishop Peter Ndhlovu, President Hichilema went to Shoprite.

In the spirit of the approaching festive season, the President bought a few bags of mealie meal for his fellow shoppers.

Upon hearing that it was raining free cheap ZNS mealie meal in Shoprite, hawkers who sell plastic bags to shoppers outside the store threw away their merchandise and thronged the store to get their paws on the costless commodity.

But while others queued up for the free mealie meal, others insisted they could afford and all they wanted was a selfie with the man who had brought peace to the streets of the capital city.

And in his Facebook posting President Hichilema said his government will implement different stratagem to see to it that there is an upswing in the economy.

“It is gratifying to see that citizens recognise our efforts to reduce the price of commodities such as mealie meal, under the Zambia National Service. We will not shy away from doing everything possible and within our means, to work for our people and set our country’s economic path on the right trajectory,” he said.

The President further called for joint effort and diligence for a speedily economic upturn.

China and Philippines exchange accusations over collisions in South China Sea

0

China and the Philippines blamed each other for causing crashes in a disputed part of the South China Sea. This is just one of many clashes between the two countries in the area, which has made tensions in the region worse.

The Philippine government said that a ship from the Chinese Coast Guard did dangerous moves that made it crash into a Philippine boat bringing supplies to soldiers stationed in Ayungin Shoal, also known as Second Thomas Shoal, in the Spratly Islands chain.

China’s action was called “provocative, irresponsible, and illegal” and it put the crew of the Philippine boats in danger, according to the National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea.

On Sunday, another incident occurred where a ship from the Chinese maritime militia collided with a ship from the Philippine coast guard. Both ships were involved in the mission to resupply the BRP Sierra Madre. In 1999, Manila intentionally put a navy ship on Second Thomas Shoal, and Filipino marines are now stationed there to protect their rights to that area.

The Chinese Coast Guard said on Sunday that the Philippines broke international sea rules and put the safety of Chinese ships in danger.

It accused the first Philippine ship of going into the waters of what it calls the Nansha islands and Renai Reef without permission. This prompted a Chinese Coast Guard ship to stop the Philippine ship, which led to a small crash.

In another incident, the Chinese Coast Guard stated that the Philippine Coast Guard boat intentionally tried to start a problem and turned around, resulting in crashing into a Chinese fishing boat.

Beijing says that it completely owns most of the South China Sea, including the islands and sandbars in it. They even claim ownership of areas that are far away from China’s main territory.

In 2016, a court in The Hague decided that the Philippines were right in a big argument about the ocean. The court said that China doesn’t have any legal reason to say that they own most of the South China Sea.

Beijing disregarded the decision.

No one was hurt in either crash on Sunday. This is the latest of many recent arguments between Beijing and Manila over the disputed waterway.

In September, the Philippine Coast Guard showed a video of a Filipino diver removing a barrier put up by the Chinese in a disputed area of the water. This barrier had stopped Filipino boats from going into the area.

It happened a few days after the Philippine Coast Guard claimed that China’s marine militia had caused extensive damage to coral around the Palawan islands, making it look white and ruined.

China’s foreign ministry said that those accusations are not true and have no basis.

Russian military aircraft carrying unknown load erupts in tremendous flame

0

A plane from the Russian military blew up in a big ball of fire while trying to fly away from a far away airbase. It was carrying something unknown.

The Il-76 plane was on the runway when one of its engines caught fire, causing the plane to move off the runway. The fire quickly started spreading.

According to reports, it is believed that there were eight people on the craft. They were transporting some military cargo, but managed to escape before the craft caught fire.

A video showed a Russian military aircraft on fire at a base in Tajikistan called Ayni airbase (also known as Gissar air base), which is near the capital city Dushanbe.
According to reports on Telegram, the plane’s identification number was not initially revealed.

However, the crashed plane is thought to be RF-86900. This plane was previously used to deliver supplies for Putin’s war in Belarus.

A comment from a source said that they are not revealing the information about what is in the cargo for political reasons related to war.

He also mentioned that the airplane might have been owned by Vladimir Putin’s special Pskov airborne troops. It is said that Ukraine attacked and destroyed five Il-76s.

“He said it’s a real disaster if it’s the Pskov regiment because we have already lost five. ”

Based on what the person saw, the fire first started in the engine and then quickly spread to the rest of the vehicle.

The big airplane is the second one to blow up on the runway in the last month.
In September, a plane made in Russia was recorded as it went out of control and crashed off a runway in Africa. It then burst into flames and exploded. People suspected that the jet might be connected to the Wagner Group.

The jet caught fire in Mali, where Wagner’s soldiers are based. This happened a few weeks after their leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, died when his plane exploded during a flight near Moscow.

People who know about Wagner said that the Russian mercenary group is not connected to the flight, even though they are currently working in Mali.

However, they did not say for certain that Wagner was connected to the plane.

Law addressing gender identification in schools passed by Canadian province

0

This bill says that young students need to have their parents’ permission to use different pronouns at school.

Saskatchewan used a special rule to pass the bill after a court stopped the policy temporarily.

An LGBT organization raised an issue against it.

The bill explains that a parent has the main power to make decisions about their child’s education.

Bill 137 was approved on Friday after a long 40-hour discussion this week.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe said on Friday that the bill was intended to give parents the ability and choice to help their children during the important early years of their life.

This means that parents will be told about things like how often their child attends school, how they behave, if they get in trouble, and how well they’re doing in school. However, some people got upset about the rule that says parents need to agree if a student who is younger than 16 wants to use a different name or gender identity at school.

MrMoe’s decision to use the notwithstanding clause to pass a policy has received a lot of criticism, including from the human rights commissioner in Saskatchewan.

Earlier this week, Heather Kuttai quit her job as commissioner because of the policy.

Ms Kuttai said in a letter that she and her husband have a child who identifies as trans. Ms Kuttai also mentioned that the policy being enforced is negatively affecting the rights of trans, nonbinary, and gender diverse children.

Carla Beck, the opposition leader from the left-leaning New Democrats party, said that the decision is a step in the wrong direction for Saskatchewan politics.

Some students didn’t like the policy and protested by walking out of their school in Regina and other cities.

Earlier this year, New Brunswick, a province in Atlantic Canada, introduced a similar policy.

MrMoe used a special clause called the notwithstanding clause to make Bill 137 pass. The clause lets provincial legislatures and parliament change some parts of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

It basically allows provinces to give up some rights for five years.

The province said that the school’s rules will be different this summer.

The UR Pride Centre for Sexuality and Gender Diversity asked the court to stop the measure because they believed it went against people’s rights and could cause teachers to use the wrong gender for students. The court agreed with them and made a decision.

The rule was not used often in the past, but it has been used many times in recent years.

One recent example that caused disagreement is when Quebec used a rule to make a law in 2019 that says civil workers cannot wear religious symbols at their job, like the hijab and kippah.

In Canada, there is a heated discussion about how schools should handle matters relating to sexual orientation and gender. Last month, there were protests in big cities against educational policies that support LGBT rights, and there were also some opposing protests.

Former arch-rival of Pakistani army Nawaz Sharif returns

0

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has returned to Pakistan after living abroad by his own choice. He has come back in time for the upcoming general elections.

Not many people would have predicted that someone who has been a constant annoyance to the powerful military throughout their career would experience such a remarkable change of fortune.

When he was recently in Pakistan, Mr. Sharif was in prison for doing something wrong. However, in November 2019, he was allowed to get out of jail because of health reasons.

Now it seems like the military is ready to welcome the person they removed from power in a sudden takeover – and there is a possibility that he might become the Prime Minister once more.

And there’s more – in a surprising change of positions, his opponent Imran Khan, who took his place as prime minister in 2018, is now in prison after having a disagreement with the military.

Even though it feels like we’ve experienced this before, we are not sure about what will happen next.

What will occur when Sharif arrives?

The ex-Prime Minister has been in London for the last four years. He was given permission to leave jail in an air ambulance, supposedly for medical care.

He has been increasing his involvement in politics since 2022, when Imran Khan was removed from power through a parliamentary vote.

MrSharif’s party, PML-N, became the governing party of Pakistan at that time, with his younger brother Shahbaz in control. Now, my older brother is returning home. He is supposed to come from Dubai to Islamabad on Saturday, and then go to our home city Lahore for a public gathering.

He has some unresolved court cases, but he will not worry about being taken to jail because he has been granted bail until the next court hearing, which will take place next week.

Mr Sharif has come back from exile before.

In 2007, he and another opposition leader, Benazir Bhutto, made an important agreement with the military. This allowed them to participate in elections for the first time since he was removed from power in a coup in 1999.

All the main opposing parties agreed then, unlike now – Ms Bhutto’s Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) won by a large margin, weeks after she was killed at a campaign event.

Will Sharif become the Prime Minister again?

His party has stated that he will be their candidate for Prime Minister in elections scheduled for this year but have been postponed until 2024.

However, the 73-year-old man has many problems to deal with – especially a struggling economy, which his political party is mostly held responsible for, and widespread beliefs that the election will not be conducted fairly because his main rival is imprisoned.

The military plays a significant role in governing Pakistan.

When he was overseas, the former Prime Minister spoke out against the military at times. He specifically accused a former leader of the ISI intelligence agency and the previous army chief of staff for causing political unrest, but they denied these claims.

MrSharif claimed that false cases had been filed against him and accused the judges in the country of working together. He said that this had caused a weak democracy in Pakistan where none of the prime ministers have been able to finish their time in office as dictated by the constitution.

Two US hostages, mother and daughter released by Hamas

0

Hamas let go of two American captives who were taken during their attack on Israel.

Israel said they accepted mother and daughter Judith and Natalie Raanan from Hamas at the Gaza border.

The two people were released by Hamas because of their compassionate nature.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, expressed great happiness about their freedom and mentioned that he had talked to the Raanan family on the phone.

These people were the first to be let go after the attackers invaded Israel on October 7th. The attackers killed 1,400 people and took about 200 hostages.

Palestinian leaders say that over 4,000 individuals have died in Gaza due to continuous attacks from Israel.
Brigadier General Gal Hirsch and IDF members collected the two hostages from Hamas at the border of the Palestinian area on Friday evening, according to the Israeli prime minister’s office.

The Raanans were brought to a military base in the middle of the country, where their family members were already waiting, according to the Prime Minister’s office.

The mom and daughter were at a place called Kibbutz Nahal Oz in southern Israel. They were taken away by force during an attack by Hamas.
The mother is 59 years old and her daughter is 17 years old. They both live in Evanston, Illinois, which is a suburb of Chicago. The daughter has just finished high school.

Natalie’s half-brother, Ben Raanan, told the BBC that he felt extremely thankful for the many people from all over the world who have been thinking about and praying for his sister. He mentioned that people from different religions and beliefs have shown their support.

Natalie’s uncle, Avi Zamir, said the family was very happy.

Evanston Rabbi Meir Hecht was very happy when he spoke to the BBC. He said that the Jewish community in the area felt very excited and happy. He also mentioned that since the people were released, he has been receiving many phone calls non-stop.

Rabbi Hecht said that we are very thankful to God for this miracle. He also mentioned that we still feel very sad for the hostages who are still there.
“Caption with media”

The leader of the church where the hostages were freed says the community is thankful.

At a gathering in Evanston on Friday night, close friend Yehudis Hecht said that Judith and the others were living a terrible life after hearing that they were taken by Hamas.

“She said that we hope they recover quickly from everything they went through, and we are praying for the safety of Israel and for all the hostages to come back safely. ”

The Raanan family were captured while they were celebrating Natalie’s graduation and her grandmother Tamar Ranaan’s 85th birthday. Tamar Ranaan had survived an attack from Hamas.

Tamar Ranaan and her partner, Yehiel, stayed safe and alive by hiding in a special room in their house.

MrBiden thanked the government of Qatar for helping to settle the situation and release the two women on Friday.

He said that US officials have been working thoroughly day and night to rescue American citizens who were captured by Hamas.

A spokesperson for Hamas, Abu Ubaida, said that the mother and daughter were let go because of humanitarian concerns. They wanted to show the American people and the world that the statements made by Biden and his oppressive government are not true and without evidence.

CNN said that the mother was not well and was getting help from the Red Cross.

Judith Raanan, who was born in Israel, worked in the US as a person who enhances people’s appearance and a person who helps others with their lives, and frequently used her Hebrew name, Yehudit, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, said that he is excited to bring the people back home who showed incredible strength and courage during a very scary and unimaginable situation.

Until Friday, the US state department stated that at least 32 American citizens had been identified as dead in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict this month. However, there are still 10 American citizens whose whereabouts are unknown.

The US and UK are both cooperating with Qatari officials to bring back their citizens safely.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: “We will keep talking to both the Israelis and Hamas, and we want these talks to help free all civilian hostages from any country. ”

Some other countries that have citizens currently being kept in Gaza are Argentina, Germany, France, Thailand, and Portugal.

The Ranaans were a big family that was involved in the attack.

There are eight more family members who cannot be found in Kibbutz Be’eri. Three people died, one of them was a carer.

BBC News has confirmed the names of the other family members who are believed to have been taken against their will in Gaza.

Dr Shoshan Haran, who is 67 years old, along with her daughter Adi Shoham, who is 38 years old, Adi’s partner Tal Shoham, also 38 years old, and their children, Naveh, who is 8 years old, and Yahel, who is 3 years old, are thought to have been taken away from their house.

Dr Haran started a non-profit organization called Fair Planet. They found out that a phone owned by her husband, Avshalom, was traced to Gaza. They suspect that the entire family was kidnapped.

Economist Avshalom Haran, who held dual citizenship in Germany and Israel, has passed away, as confirmed by the BBC. He was sixty-six years old.

Sharon Avigdori, who is 52 years old, her 12-year-old daughter Noam, and Lilach Kipnis, who is 60 years old, are thought to have been taken away without consent.

Lilach’s partner, Eviatar Kipnis, who was 66 years old and had Italian citizenship, sadly passed away, according to the family’s statement.

Paul Vincent Castelvi, the person who took care of Eviatar Kipnis, was also murdered.

Actress Lupita Nyong’o breaks up with Hugh Masekela’s ‘deceitful’ son

Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has announced that she has broken up with Selema Masekela – the son of the late South African jazz legend Hugh Masekela – with the relationship coming to an end because of what she termed his “deception”.

In an Instagram post announcing her heartbreak, the actress did not specify what had happened between the couple who went public with their relationship in 2022.

Since that time, Nyong’o has actively shared their love on social media but following the post, the actress has scrubbed her Instagram account of him.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the Wakanda Forever actress said she wanted to publicly end her relationship with a man that she said she could no longer trust.

“At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust…,” she wrote.

The actress she had decided to disclose her heartbreak because she wanted to face her pain head on.

“I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception. I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when I have regained my strength enough for me to say, “Whatever, my life is better this way.”

“But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love. And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass,” she said.

She continued: “The promise, they say, is that a tender heart is what gives birth to fearlessness. I hope it’s true…

“I share this to keep it 100, and hoping that the knowledge of my experience might be useful to someone else out there experiencing the grip of heartbreak who is poised to try and escape from the pain and miss out on the wisdom that comes from it,” she ended.

Indian cop fired following significant online gaming victory

0

An Indian police officer has been fired from his job because he won a large amount of money on a fantasy sports website.

Somnath Zende, a police sub-inspector in Pune district of Maharashtra state, recently won money by playing Dream 11, an online fantasy league game.

Officials say he was temporarily not allowed to work because he broke the rules for how police officers should behave.

Mr Zende has denied or proved false the statement. He will have to go through an investigation by his department.

The police department in the Pimpri Chinchwad area of Pune suspended Mr. Zende for playing a game without permission and giving media interviews while wearing his uniform.

Mr Zende expressed that he felt he was being treated in a way that was not fair.

The police officer said he started playing games on Dream 11 website a month ago. On October 10th, he received a cash prize of 15 million rupees for winning a game on the platform.

Dream 11 says it is a game where skill is important, not just luck. They mention a recent court decision on their website that allows them to operate legally and not be considered gambling.

In India, gambling is against the law. However, some people in the gaming industry believe that “online skill-based gaming” is different. They argue that in this type of gaming, the skill involved is more important than luck.

The app has a famous cricketer, MS Dhoni, as its ambassador and has included Bollywood actors like Aamir Khan in its advertisements.

Users make virtual groups using names of actual players. After that, they get points depending on how well these players perform in real games.

Mr Zende was the winner of the game during a match between Bangladesh and England in the ongoing Cricket World Cup held in India.

After winning, they say Mr Zende wore his police uniform and talked to the media for interviews.

Amold Thorat, a worker of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which also holds power in Maharashtra, sent a letter to the chief minister and his deputy. In the letter, Thorat demanded action against Mr. Zende for participating in illegal gambling activities.

Mr Thorat said that Mr. Zende was playing the game instead of doing his job, and he called it not doing his duty properly.

Zende complained that pictures of him in his police uniform became very popular on the internet and gave people a negative impression of the police department in the state.

But Zende said he did not play the game while he was working. He claimed that other police officers also played the game.

A lot of people enjoy playing this game. It is a game or physical activity. “He said they play for a long time,” in simpler terms. It is not a game of chance, but I am still being punished.

Mr Zende said he will use his prize money to pay off his mortgage and open savings accounts for his children.

During Mr Zende’s departmental inquiry, he will have the opportunity to share his side of the story. A high-ranking police officer said they will make a decision about what to do next after they receive the report from the inquiry committee.

Hamas spokesperson including other people arrested in occupied West Bank

0

Israel has arrested over 60 members of Hamas, a militant group, including a spokesperson, during overnight raids in the West Bank. The West Bank is an area that Israel occupies and is being greatly affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

In a military operation by Israel in the Nour Shams refugee camp in Tulkarem city, some Palestinians were killed, as confirmed by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The security agency of Israel, Shin Bet, has confirmed to CNN that they arrested Hassan Yousef, who is the spokesperson, because they suspect that he was acting on behalf of Hamas.

“The occupation forces have arrested Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a leader of Hamas, from his home in Beitunia. This is part of a large-scale arrest campaign in the occupied West Bank,” says the statement from the Palestinian Prisoners Club.

Yousef was arrested multiple times by Israeli forces. He has spent a total of 24 years in Israeli jails for different reasons, like encouraging violence, going into Jerusalem without permission, and being a member of Hamas.

He has been frequently appearing on international media recently. This week, he spoke to Canadian news outlet The Globe and Mail and said that he believes Hamas would be willing to release around 200 hostages if Israel agrees to a day-long ceasefire to allow aid to enter Gaza.

The Israeli military said that Israeli security forces carried out an operation.

The statement said that many people who were wanted by the authorities were arrested in the West Bank, including a large number of Hamas members.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners Club, 850 Palestinians have been arrested in the West Bank since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. The people mentioned are lawmakers, important people, journalists, and former prisoners who have spent a long time in Israeli jails.

Mustafa Barghouti, who is in charge of the Palestinian National Initiative, told CNN that Israel is conducting a big operation to arrest a lot of Palestinians.

They are catching and taking more people into custody every night. There are currently 6,300 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, according to Barghouti. “They are not accused of a crime, and they do not have to go to court. ” There is no fair legal process, and this is called administrative detention. This includes at least 200 children who are currently in Israeli jails.

The Israeli government is taking strong action because the violence from the Gaza conflict has started to affect the West Bank.

Israeli forces killed several Palestinians during clashes in the West Bank on Thursday, as reported by the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Health. The government told CNN that they have confirmed the deaths of six people, and they expect the number of deaths to increase. Fights have happened between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers at many places.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said their workers were trying to help the injured people in Nour Shams. They mentioned that it was hard to reach some of the injured individuals, and that ambulances with injured people were being stopped by Israeli occupation forces.

CNN has asked the IDF to react to this claim.

Israel gained control of the West Bank in 1967 after the Six Day War with Jordan. Since then, Israeli civilians have moved to live in parts of the West Bank and have been protected by the Israeli military. The people who live there hope that the West Bank will be part of a future Palestinian state.

Many countries believe that these settlements are against the law worldwide, but even so, Israeli governments have promised to support them.

Israel sees the West Bank as an area where there is a disagreement, and it believes that its policy to build settlements there is allowed by the law.

41 Canadian diplomats expelled from India over murder of Sikh activist

0

Canada removed 41 diplomats and their families from India because India said they might take away their special protection as diplomats. This happened because there is a growing argument between the two countries about the killing of a Sikh activist.

The decision comes after both countries kicked out each other’s diplomats as a response to the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen and important Sikh leader. Nijjar was shot by two masked attackers in British Columbia.

A rift between the countries started because Canadian leader Justin Trudeau said that his intelligence services were investigating “believable accusations” that the murder could be connected to Indian government agents. India strongly denies any involvement in Nijjar’s death and accuses the claims of being ridiculous and driven by ulterior motives.

Apart from the reciprocal removal of diplomats, India has stopped issuing visas to Canadian citizens due to concerns about the safety of Indian diplomats in Canada.

Last month, India announced that it would request some Canadian diplomats to depart from the country, in order to have equal diplomatic representation.

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly said India’s recent actions were not fair when she talked about the removal of the 41 diplomats on Thursday.

I always prioritize the safety of Canadians and our diplomats. Joly said at a press conference in Ottawa that because India’s actions could put our diplomats’ safety at risk, we have helped them leave India safely.

Joly mentioned that most diplomats and their families have left India, but 21 Canadian diplomats are still staying there.

Joly said the Canadian government will not respond in the same way, as it would break international law.

Joly said we are only asking India to follow the rules of the world.

Nijjar strongly supported the idea of creating a separate Sikh homeland called Khalistan, which would be made up of certain areas in India.

The World Sikh Organization of Canada says that Nijjar often led peaceful protests against what the group believes are human rights violations happening in India and in support of Khalistan.

The Khalistan movement is not allowed in India and the government sees it as a danger to the country’s safety. Some groups related to the movement are labeled as terrorist organizations under India’s Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Nijjar was listed by the Home Ministry as a UAPA terrorist.

In 2020, the Indian National Investigation Agency accused him of attempting to influence Sikh communities worldwide to support the formation of ‘Khalistan’. They also said he tried to encourage Sikhs to vote for independence, protest against the Indian government, and carry out violent actions.

Nijjar’s followers have refused to accept the terrorist label. They believe this label is being used to harm Nijjar’s reputation. Nijjar’s death has caused great shock and anger among the Sikh community in Canada, which is one of the biggest Sikh communities outside of India. In Canada, there are over 770,000 people who belong to the Sikh religious minority.

Chinese social media rife with discussion and nationalism over Israel-Hamas conflict

0

The conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas has caused a strong argument on China’s strict social media. This has created a divide between those who believe Israel should defend itself and various voices supporting Palestine. Unfortunately, there has also been an increase in antisemitic opinions.

A lot of people in China have been watching what is happening in the Middle East and sharing their thoughts online since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th. This attack resulted in the death of over 1,400 people and the capture of around 200 civilians and military personnel who are now believed to be held in Gaza.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has caused arguments among people using Weibo. Just like in other countries, the war has created different opinions among users, and posts about it are frequently seen by millions of people on Weibo.

But even though there are a lot of posts that support Israel, more people are starting to criticize the things Israel does. At the same time, there is also an increase in very extreme views that are against Jewish people. China’s online censors, who are very influential, have let these extreme views spread.

Deputy Chief of Mission Yuval Waks, who works at the Israeli Embassy in Beijing, mentioned that people in China have been showing strong disapproval towards Israel and, in many situations, expressing hatred towards Jewish people.

“We are worried that this would create a harmful environment that could seriously endanger both Israelis in China and Jews living in China,” expressed Waks.

Last week, a foreigner stabbed an Israeli diplomat in Beijing. The suspect is a 53-year-old businessman and the police are still trying to figure out why he did it.

Waks expressed gratitude for China’s help in taking care of the hurt diplomat and keeping his coworkers safe. However, he requested that the Chinese government strongly denounce Hamas.

China has criticized actions that hurt innocent people, but it hasn’t specifically blamed Hamas or mentioned the group in its statements, unlike many Western countries.

“We are a little sad to see that a country we have a good relationship with is not strongly condemning the situation,” Waks said. He also mentioned that the government’s stance often influences how people talk online.

While Beijing has tried to stay impartial in official statements, the media in China has shown a more biased perspective, often highlighting Israel’s bombings in Gaza and the resulting destruction.

Recently, the government of China has increased its criticism of Israel’s blockade of the Palestinian area. Their top official, Wang Yi, said Israel is going too far in defending itself and demanded a quick end to the fighting.

The United Nations and other groups that help people in need are asking for the fighting to stop in Gaza. They say the situation is getting worse and may become uncontrollable. Palestinian health officials say over 3,700 people have been killed in Gaza since the fighting began. This number includes over 1,500 children and 1,000 women.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke in Beijing on Wednesday. He said on live TV in China that what is happening in Israel cannot be used as a reason to punish all the Palestinian people together.

On Weibo, a lot of popular nationalist influencers who don’t like the West often post messages against Israel that get shared a lot.

Some people have criticized Israel’s actions in the past and during their current war with Hamas. However, there are also others who have spread hateful comments and anti-Semitic conspiracies.

A famous nationalist page with over 2 million followers has shared funny pictures with Adolf Hitler and some of its followers have admired the former leader of Germany, who caused the deaths of millions of Jewish people during World War II.

Some well-known accounts have criticized the close relationship between Israel and the United States.

This well-known account with 6. 6 million followers claimed that Israel did not support China when the US imposed sanctions on it. The account questioned why China would now support Israel.

Xiao Qiang, a research scientist from the University of California Berkeley’s School of Information, explained that in China, big accounts that support the government usually control the online discussions. These accounts try to get attention by making outrageous claims and competing with each other.

“You do everything possible to get people’s attention. ” “He explained that there is a business motive behind it. ”

Xiao said that not having correct information adds to spreading harmful stereotypes. “There isn’t much understanding when you rely solely on government-provided information. ”

There is a problem with hatred towards Jewish people on the internet in China, and it is also seen in some parts of the country’s official media. Lately, some false ideas have become popular, and even official media sources have mentioned them.

Galia Lavi, who helps run a center in Israel focused on Israel-China policies, said that when hateful messages attacking Jewish people are not addressed by authorities online, it is like silently supporting those messages. She made a comparison to China, which has also not criticized Hamas.

She said that when Chinese officials do not criticize Hamas, it means they are supporting it.

More and more people who study China and Israel have noticed that there is more hate towards Jewish people in China. Some Chinese diplomats seem to have noticed this too. On Sunday, Hua Chunying, an Assistant Foreign Minister, wrote on X, a platform similar to Twitter, that “during World War II, China gave home to 20,000 Jewish people in Shanghai. ”

Many people online are critical of Israel, but not everyone feels the same way. On Weibo, some people have criticized Hamas’ “acts of terrorism” and want it to be defeated, while others have felt sorry for both sides.

“Support Israel,” a user wrote in a recent comment, getting 1,600 likes on a post by the Israeli Embassy. This has increased the Embassy’s daily post count.

The Israeli diplomatic outpost has been using Chinese social media, according to Lavi from the Diane & Guilford Glazer Israel-China Policy Center in an interview with CNN.

Lavi said that it is expected for the Israeli Embassy to be more busy during these times, as they are trying to inform the world about what has happened.

The Israeli Embassy shared several posts about Noa Argamani, a young Israeli woman who has both Israeli and Chinese heritage. In the videos, she was forcefully separated from her boyfriend by militants during a music festival attack that caused over 260 deaths. Both are now thought to have been kidnapped.

However, although some people had a positive reaction to the post, it also received a lot of negative feedback. A person who strongly supports their own country and has a lot of people following them on social media asked why they should worry about what is happening to Argamani.

The commentator asked if she should ask the Israeli government for help because her whole family is Israeli.

The post got 24,000 likes and was shared over 500 times. Some people said that the Israeli Embassy was using women and children to receive sympathy.

Wendy Zhou, a student doing a PhD in the Chinese internet at Georgia State University, explained that the war has become a big topic of discussion in China online. This is because it allows people to express their political views in a space that is normally controlled tightly by the government.

China does not allow foreign social media platforms and controls or deletes comments that the Chinese Communist Party considers slightly sensitive. Because of this, she said, people who talk about it often say things that “go beyond just the event, mixing in their thoughts about what the Chinese government thinks, what the country’s important goals are, and how the government and society relate to each other. ”

China has been supporting Palestine for a long time, even before it built a strong economic relationship with Israel in recent years. Beijing was one of the first nations to support and acknowledge the Palestinian Authority, and they have consistently supported the Palestinians in voting at the United Nations.

According to Zhou, some of the opinions posted on Weibo can be linked to the widespread dislike of the United States and China’s long-standing backing for the Palestinian cause.

Many comments also mention China’s efforts for peace and make comparisons between the struggles of the Palestinian people and China’s own experiences with colonization in the past.

Styling himself as CCC interim Secretary-General, Tshabangu recalled 14 MPs from Parliament. The party, however, claims Tshabangu is not a CCC member and has since dragged him and the Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda to court.

Mnangagwa on Friday gazetted the Statutory Instrument 188 of 2023, Proclamation 8 of 2023, announcing dates for by-elections.

“WHEREAS, in terms of section 129 (k) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the seats of members of Parliament for Beitbridge West, Binga North, Bulawayo South, Cowdray Park, Lobengula- Magwegwe, Lupane East, Mabvuku-Tafara, Mpopoma-Mzilikazi and Nketa have become vacant by reason of ceasing to be members of CCC of Morgan Ncube, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, Nicola Jane Watson, Pashor Raphael Sibanda, Ereck Gono, Bright Moyo Vanya, Febion Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi, Desmond Makaza and Obert Manduna on 9th October, 2023, who were the elected members of Parliament for the respective constituencies;

“AND WHEREAS it is provided by section 39(2) of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13], that after the President has been notified in terms of the said section of vacancies in the membership of Parliament, He shall issue a proclamation ordering a new election to fill the vacancies in the same manner, mutatis mutandis, as is provided in section 38 of the said Act in regard to a general election;

“AND WHEREAS, the Speaker of Parliament notified me on 9th October, 2023 in writing of vacancies for the aforementioned constituencies:

“NOW, THEREFORE, under and by virtue of the powers vested in the President as aforesaid, I do, by this proclamation—

“(a) order new elections for the constituencies of Beitbridge West, Binga North, Bulawayo South, Cowdray Park, Lobengula Magwegwe, Lupane East, Mabvuku Tafara, Mpopoma Mzilikazi and Nketa; and

“(b) fix Tuesday the 7th day of November 2023, as the date on which the nomination court shall sit, commencing at 10 o’clock in the morning…..”

The CCC has already disengaged its remaining MPs, Senators and councillors from government business protesting against the recall of its members.

CCC spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi questioned why Mnangagwa proclaimed the election date when the matter is still pending in court.

“How does one make a proclamation on a matter that is still before the courts unless they know the outcome of the courts beforehand?

“I hope the courts are not in complicit with this constitutional ravage,” he asked.

Avoid taking relationships on Facebook, Simon Mwewa advises!

A prominent Lusaka social media blogger and Lusaka Clean activist, Chitabala Mwewa, who’s well known on social media as Simon Mwewa, has advised people, particularly young people, against posting about their relationships on Facebook since everyone will be watching for when they break up.

Reacting to an 11-minute and 44-second video he made on his Simon Mwewa Lane Television Facebook page about the alleged breakup of Kadochi, a famous social promoter of Yango and his girlfriend Natasha Miyanda.

He began by advising young people not to invest in a relationship where there is no commitment or covenant but rather in a relationship that is foreseeable and must be at their doorstep, not just a mere boy-girlfriend relationship.

“It is never wise to invest in a relationship that has no commitment and it is never wise to invest in a relationship that has no covenant.” Mr. Simon Mwewa said.

He said that life should be calm and that the term “girlfriend” is an insult to young people who continue to flaunt their relationships on Facebook, the majority of which have resulted in breakups.

As everything is going on, a video of Kadochi’s girlfriend, Miyanda, is making the rounds on social media, sparking accusations that Mayinda has cheated on Kadochi. In the video, Mayinda is seen with another guy peering at her from her side.

However, there is also a recording audio of Kadochi allegedly elegiac and sobbing to Mayinda about how much he had spent in her, including her three-year nursing programme, and how he felt she had deceived him, much like the well-known Bible reason of Delilah betraying Simon.

“Yes, I had my own flaws in our relationship,” Kadochi said on his Facebook page, “But I never knew that Miyanda would do me this badly.” He has also pleaded with his followers to stop tagging him in videos, as he has already seen them and needs time to recover in peace.

While Miyanda has urged people not to leap to conclusions since she will be active on Facebook at approximately 18:00 today, requesting to hear her side of the story.

The Hidden Costs Of Today May Burden The Taxpayer Tomorrow – The Case Of The ZNS Mealie Meal Programme- Edwin Lifwekelo

THE HIDDEN COSTS OF TODAY MAY BURDEN THE TAXPAYER TOMORROW – THE CASE OF THE ZNS MEALIE MEAL PROGRAMME

Lusaka Province……At ZNS Headquarters….Saturday 21st October 2023

The widely heralded cheap mealie meal from Zambia National Service is actually not cheap but very expensive except that no one behind the programme is ready to reveal the hidden costs of the programme. We submit that any programme from any of the security wings is subsidised by the Zambian Tax payer and therefore, to proclaim that mealie meal from the Zambia National Service is cheap, is not only misleading but tantamount to taking the Zambian people for granted.

We submit that the Zambia National Service programme to provide cheap mealie meal is a heavily subsidised programme still heavily paid for by the Zambian people in addition to other costs the zambian people still bear, in their daily lives through heavy Taxes they pay to sustain the Zambia National Service as a security wing of Government and a service provider to the Zambian people

The Zambia National Service Mealie Meal programme that provides affordable mealie meal has gained attention and is being promoted as a better option to deliver cheap mealie meal to the Zambian people. The programme’s goal to provide affordable mealie meal may, on the face of it, be seen as a better option to the Millers’ supposedly expensive mealie meal but the reality is that the Zambia National service mealie meal is actually not cheap and even if it may appear to be cheap, it is still expensive because the hidden costs are still covered by the Zambian Tax payer.

The Zambian people are still paying heavily to make the ZNS mealie meal cheaper. Put simply, the Zambian people through Taxes, paid for the machinery and equipment used for milling, they still pay for mantainance of the machinery and equipment, Vehicles, transportation, fuel used and all the manpower used at every level to produce the mealie meal and deliver to the supply shop.

To the contrally, the Miller, who still pays all forms of Taxes to maintain the ZNS, paid to build the buildings he uses to produce mealie meal, pays for Maize from Food Reserve Agency and other suppliers, pays for maintenance of buildings, pays for electricity, pays for vehicles and maintanance of those vehicles and employs and pays the workers who end up paying Taxes to maintain the ZNS so that it provides the so called cheap mealie meal.

The grave responsibility the millers hold in the nation as producers of mealie meal and direct and indirect providers of jobs to the Zambian worker must never be underestimated. It is therefore important that those in authority do not demonise the miller without taking into account, the duties and responsibilities of the miller in the zambian economy.

He who pays the provider of a service cannot be compared to the service provider. Zambia National Service is a service provider and the miller together with his worker pays Taxes to sustain ZNS. Any holistic view of ZNS mealie meal is myopic and may end up disrupting the Food industry and in turn the economic and social fabric of the Zambian society. The task of the ZNS programme must be to supplement and not to disrupt the cornerstone of the milling industry. Millers provide direct and indirect jobs in the Zambian economy and therefore, any disruption in millers’ work places caused by overzealous actions and unwarranted condemnation of the millers will result in great loss of jobs with economic and social repercussions with dire consequencies.

Government must come clean on the ZNS cheap mealie meal programme with a clear message that the programme is not a panacea but a temporary measure to cushion off immediate impact on the Zambians while working on a long solution to the high prices of mealie nmeal in the market place. Propaganda should never be used to run the country for propaganda works for a short while and then leave you without a permanent solution and that has serious consequencies. Transparency in running affairs of State is a litmus test of a focused leadership ready to lead the people to the expected end.

Ultimately, the citizens of Zambia deserve to have a clear picture of the true nature and impact of the Zambia National Service Mealie Meal programme so that they may make well informed decisions about the direction of the nation.By being transparent, it may help Government buy time to come up with a permanent solution to the present predicament.

ZAMBIA DESERVES BETTER

ABOUT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY OR LACK THEREOF: A CASE OF THE MEALIE MEAL PROBLEM- Sean Tembo

0

ABOUT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY OR LACK THEREOF: A CASE OF THE MEALIE MEAL PROBLEM

By Sean Tembo – PeP President

1. For the past two years or so, Government’s policy towards agriculture in general and maize production in particular, has been very chaotic, largely in two ways; firstly the failure to deliver farming inputs on time and in right quantities and secondly, an insatiable appetite to export maize and mealie meal to neighboring countries without due regard to our national consumption needs. The end result of these haphazard policies has been shortages of maize on the market and high prices of mealie meal which have almost tripled from around K120 per 25kg bag when the UPND took over, to around K320 today.

2. But the question is; how did Government find itself implementing these haphazard policies that have undermined our maize production capacity and by extension our food security? Well, it all started with the IMF programme. As part of it’s conditionalities, the IMF required Government to implement certain policies including getting rid of the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP) which has been the lifeline of subsistence and peasant farmers since as far back as 2003, in terms of receiving farming inputs. FISP has been the cornerstone of our agriculture here in Zambia. Of course, like many Government run programmes, it was plagued with inefficiency, corruption and fraud, but the right thing to do was to clean it up and not scrapping it out.

3. The Minister of Agriculture’s recent announcement that FISP will be replaced with a loan scheme might look good on paper, but in reality it cannot work because the majority of our subsistent and peasant farmers are not doing farming as a business, but as a means to feed themselves. They only sell what they consider to be excess, if any at all. So how are they going to pay the loan for farming inputs when they have eaten what they produced? Like we have argued before, the main problem with IMF policies is that they are formulated by people sitting in a boardroom in New York City who have insufficient information of what obtains on the ground here in Zambia, and what can and cannot work.

4. Similarly, the IMF instructed Government, as part of the conditionalities of the IMF loan, to export maize to neighboring countries like DRC, Kenya, Angola etcetera where the commodity has been in very high demand. The reasoning was that we needed to expand our export base and possibly diversify away from our traditional mineral exports. Again, this looks good on paper, but in reality you need a very vibrant system in place to monitor the quantity and location of maize stocks nationally before you can embark on massive exports of the commodity. Between earning forex and ensuring food security for the Zambian people, the later should be prioritized. But to the contrary, the UPND administration embarked on a blind export of maize and mealie meal without any regard to local consumption needs. The end result has been the current high prices of mealie meal on the domestic market.

5. Instead of taking responsibility for these poor policy decisions however, President Hakainde Hichilema and his Government have instead decided to politicize the issue. They have introduced a superficial variable which is the ZNS mealie meal, which is said to be selling at K230 per 25kg bag and therefore cheaper to the current shelf price of around K320. However, what Government is failing to tell the people is that ZNS only has a capacity of less than 2,000 metric tonnes per month against a monthly national consumption of approximately 100,000 metric tonnes. That means ZNS mealie meal accounts for less than two-percent of the total market and therefore has an insignificant impact on reducing the high cost of mealie meal.

6. The ZNS mealie meal was merely introduced to make an unsubstantiated political argument that commercial milling companies are over-charging the market on mealie meal. But everyone knows that ZNS employees who produce the mealie meal have their salaries paid by taxpayers whereas commercial millers have to foot the salaries of their employees including related costs such as NAPSA, Workman’s Compensation, Council Levy, NHIMA, Skills Levy etcetera. Therefore, the argument by Government that since ZNS is able to sell it’s mealie meal at K230 versus a market price of about K320, then commercial millers are exploiting the market, is lame and lacks substance. The ZNS mealie meal prices might be self-pleasing and provide superficial relief to President Hakainde Hichilema, but it is not the solution. The ZNS mealie meal policy is like masturbation. The Zambian people do not want a Government which masturbates on important national matters like food security. President Hakainde Hichilema should stop masturbating on this mealie meal issue. The Zambian people want real solutions not silly politicking. The President should grow up and provide sound leadership to the nation. He is no longer an opposition leader who used to thrive on lies and innuendos. He is now the Head of State. He must stop the ongoing nonsense and politicking on mealie meal and provide sound guidance on our country’s food security. People are hungry. Very soon, the people will be angry.

PF And Edgar Lungu Neglected Andrew Ntewewe- Chilufya Tayali

0

EEP President Chilufya Tayali

ANDREW NTEWEWE HAS DIED BUT MY FIRST REACTION, I WANT TO VENT OUT AGAINST PF AND EDGAR LUNGU, I WANT TO TELL THEM THAT HERE IS A GALLANT SOLDIER WHO LOST EVERYTHING TO FIGHT FOR YOUR FAILING POLITICAL LIFE, BUT YOU NEGLECTED HIM TO HIS DEATH
====================
I remember my last face-off with Andrew Ntewewe was on Radio Phoenix when PF had rose against Mary Chirwa as FIC Director General. They were discrediting FIC and Mary Chirwa for releasing ferocious reports against their corruption.

I defended Mary Chirwa and FIC but PF unleashed Andrew to fight against me. We ended up in Radio Phoenix studios and it was a battle that raised dust and smoke where by we almost punched at each other.

This was not the only time, Andrew and I stood in opposite sides, he was a very good soldier to counter my offensives against the PF.

Andrew has been sick for a long time, but ask all those hypocrites, from PF who are now offering condolences, when they last called Andrew to check up on him or offer him the help that he so much needed.

Remember at one point Andrew led protesters into State House and President Lungu personally received the petition in support of his 2021 bid.

So, President Lungu knows Andrew personally and benefitted from his advocacy. But they never helped him when he needed them the most.

You can say whatever you want, but the fact is they you are not helpful, to some people like Andrew, you just use SOME people to run your agenda and dump them when it suits you.

Like I have said, most of the times we were against each other with Andrew, to a point that it was almost personal such that I even failed to visit him when he was sick, because I was not sure how he was going to take it.

Nonetheless, today, I feel very bad, that this guy, who was thought of my equal opposite force. Really sad

Andrew I look forward to arguing with you over whatever politics in heaven.

Changala Lacks Wisdom , He Must Listen To Himself- Mark Simuuwe

0

CHANGALA LACKS WISDOM , HE MUST LISTEN TO HIMSELF .

By Mark Simuuwe

Brebner Changala says HH must reach out to ECL in the spirit of reconciliation. But Changala himself is a misguided old man who goes to dine with Edgar Lungu and as soon as he leaves the dining table , he calls for a press conference to insult HH . There is nothing wrong with dining with ECL because that is Changala’s lifestyle.

When he is full at ECL’s home , he begins insulting HH and calling for regime change . Today , he believes he is the right man to call for HH to reach out to ECL yet he spends more time with ECL and could ask ECL to reach out to HH .

If Changala himself has failed to reach out to HH and attempted for his selfish reasons , he believes he could blocker a strong affair . I do not know how many times HH will do that .

ECL has been invited by HH many times and ECL has refused to be available. HH has called ECL on phone , and ECL opted to tell lies to the public that HH never talks to him , because that is the skill he prominently uses .

When ECL attends a function with HH on an invitation , instead of building a relationship, he begins politicking , calling his friend a hypocrite.

ECL ‘s public display and conduct whenever he mingles with the carders explains a lot about him . Reconciliation does not extinguish law breaking by those that were entrusted with leadership.

In fact God does not like law breakers. If HH had a grudge against ECL , ECL could have been in Prison by now , especially given what he made HH go through.

HH spent 127 days in Prison , and got arrested about 15 times on ECL’s directive, went through the rooftop just over a radio interview at Sun FM , escaped live ammunitions in Sesheke and Copperbelt , ethnically demonized and called all sorts of names , and ECL saw nothing wrong with all that .

ECL even demonstrated further when he said he would handover power to himself in 2021 , that he would arrest HH and that this time , it would be very serious . He called HH an incorrigible man .

How many African leaders especially in West and East Africa are entertaining former heads of state in the manner HH is doing to ECL ? You would think other countries in the region have no former heads of state because they know what a former head of state is like, and how they should conduct themselves.

We have a situation which is uncommon in Africa , Where a former head of state can freely organize carders and begins jogging everyday without any problem or serious threats from the government ? In which country are we seeing such in African ? Only in Zambia off course!

With the freedom that ECL is enjoying to even go pray in various churches , which he could not allow his friend to do. So , who is a problem here ? Who is supposed to reach out to the other between one who wanted to kill his friend in Prison taking him to strange prison cells , Lilayi , Lusaka Central Prison and Kabwe Maximum Prison, commonly known as ‘Mukobeko ‘, and isolating him deliberately from his co-accused, and cheated him that his relatives were looking for him , then whisked him away with intent to fly him to Kamfinsa , alone for unknown action ?

ECL sent Police to HH ‘s home , tear-gassed everyone , children and beating up workers broke into his house in the night , arrested workers , Brian Mwiinga and whoever was on the scene , including journalists ?

A president who ruled with an iron fist and saw citizens killed with a gun for no reason ; Mapenzi Chibulo , Nsama Nsama , Joseph Kaunda , are gone and they will never come back . Some youths are still moving with bullets in their bodies , yet ECL believes he needs more time to go back into leadership.

Mukula was exported illegally, KCM liquidated, Indeni closed indefinitely, meal allowances for students scrapped off , violence and unregistered guns among PF carders , tyrants in market places , media houses closed ,many media houses captured , bloodshed on TV everyday , council workers no salaries and so many arrears , stopped creating jobs , overborrowing of money with few projects done , projects stalled , debt trap approached , Zambia defaulted in 2020, extreme corruption, country’s GDP was in negatives , inflation went up , Shops in Malls started closing , youths on the street packed their certificates , was all ECL thought was good leadership .

ECL fired all those coming from UPND strongholds based on tribe and ran a regional cabinet and was determined to further acquire more power through bill 10 to subdivide provinces without approval from parliament – he was determined to completely wipe out those provinces he believed he could not control. Many of us were locked up on trumped up charges .

Today , ECL wants to play victim ?

So can one say Changala is a wise old man worth providing wisdom to the young generation? Can we rely on Changala as an elder to counsel the young ?

Clearly , Changala is not behaving like and elderly man. He lacks wisdom . He is not behaving like a source of wisdom . Rather he is a source of confusion and division. He has completely lost his moral campus .

Changala himself called ECL and his friends corrupt and tyrannical when they were in power . I am not sure if he is enjoying stolen money when he meets them . How can an old man be respected by young ones if today he calls one Corrupt , tomorrow they are together eating , drinking and cheating each other on coming back to run the country even after they ran down the economy?

The corrupt by the corrupt and for the corrupt organization has now become a savior ? Are these the old men worth tapping into for wisdom ? I do not think so . Clearly , it is difficult to respect such an old man like Changala .

Lopsided old men who want to survive on propaganda to earn a living and don’t want to retire from politics? Wearing different jackets in a second to remain politically relevant, yet he is becoming more and more irrelevant . Who would listen to Changala when he believes HH is a bad man and ECL has stopped being tyrannical and crooked as Changala purported earlier??

Challenges and Disadvantages of Buying Earth Moving Equipment Without Proper Management. A Case Study of Local Authorities in Zambia

Challenges and Disadvantages of Buying Earth Moving Equipment Without Proper Management. A Case Study of Local Authorities in Zambia – By David Mbulo.
*******************************************
Introduction.

The purchase of earth moving equipment is a significant investment for local authorities in Zambia. However, acquiring such machinery without implementing a robust management system and practices can lead to a host of challenges and disadvantages.

In this write-up, we will explore the issues associated with the hasty purchase of earth moving equipment without proper planning and management.

1. Financial Burden.

One of the foremost challenges of buying earth moving equipment without a management system in place is the financial burden. These machines are expensive to purchase, operate, and maintain. Without a strategic plan, local authorities may strain their budgets, which could lead to financial instability.

2. Inadequate Maintenance.

Proper maintenance is crucial to ensure the longevity and efficiency of earth moving equipment. Without a management system that includes maintenance schedules and procedures, the machines may experience more breakdowns and downtime, resulting in increased repair costs and project delays.

3. Skill and Training Gaps.

Operating earth moving equipment requires specialized skills and training. Without a structured training program and an efficient workforce management system, authorities may struggle to find qualified operators, leading to accidents, inefficiency, and lower productivity.

4. Underutilization.

Failure to integrate earth moving equipment into project planning and scheduling can lead to underutilization. Idle machinery incurs operational costs without contributing to project progress, wasting valuable resources.

5. Inefficiency and Project Delays.

Inadequate management practices can cause inefficiency and project delays. Earth moving equipment, when not coordinated properly, can disrupt project timelines, resulting in additional costs and inconvenience to the community.

6. Safety Risks.

The improper use of earth moving equipment poses significant safety risks. Without a structured safety management system, accidents and injuries can occur, harming both operators and other personnel on the construction site.

7. Lack of Accountability.

Without a management system in place, it becomes challenging to hold responsible parties accountable for the maintenance, operation, and efficiency of the equipment. This can result in a lack of transparency and accountability within the organization.

8. Environmental Impact.

Improperly managed earth moving equipment can have adverse environmental consequences, such as soil erosion, pollution, and habitat disruption. Effective environmental management practices are essential to mitigate these impacts.

9. Shortened Equipment Lifespan.

Lack of proper maintenance, monitoring, and management can significantly shorten the lifespan of earth moving equipment, reducing the return on investment and necessitating more frequent replacements.

10. Public Dissatisfaction.

Local authorities that fail to manage earth moving equipment adequately may face public dissatisfaction and criticism, as poorly executed construction projects can inconvenience and disrupt communities.

Conclusion.

In Conclusion, buying earth moving equipment without a well-structured management system and practices can lead to a plethora of challenges and disadvantages, including financial strain, operational inefficiency, safety risks, and environmental impact.

To ensure that such investments are optimized, it is imperative for local authorities to develop and implement comprehensive management systems that encompass equipment maintenance, operator training, project planning, and safety measures.

This approach will not only mitigate the challenges but also maximize the advantages of owning earth moving equipment for infrastructure development.

NO GOVT OR UPND HAND IN DISMISSALS AT ZAMBIA DAILY MAIL ZDM-Kalani Muchima

NO GOVT OR UPND HAND IN DISMISSALS AT ZAMBIA DAILY MAIL ZDM-By Kalani Muchima.

The PF sponsored hullabaloo and a narrative created on Facebook by well known PF hired guns that the UPND GOVT has fired six journalists at ZDM are unfounded.

The one who has suffered allegations of being on the centre of these purported dismisals is the current Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Media Mr. Thabo Kawana.

Not only at ZDM, but in all government institutions, the UPND has not fired anyone since assumption of authority and i can confidently say that again. If there are those who were fired, they were dismissed by their managements for indiscipline among others.

If anything PF aligned public and civil servants are enjoying and bragging that they are still in charge of the entire system despite UPND being in Government, much to the annoyance of UPND members and this is a fact

What the public don’t know and ought to know now about these lies of dismissals at ZDM being splashed on Facebook is that they emanate from within ZDM by PF aligned journalists who have refused to heed to President Hakainde Hichilema’s advice to change and embrace change.

As a way of embarrassing UPND, they are formulating lies which they share with their long standing cherished PF masters and other agents for a wider dissemination to the public to consolidate their propaganda.

When the six journalists were fired from ZDM at different times, but between January last year and July this year, some PF aligned senior journalists accused Acting MD of being unfair with the journalists and interfering in their work, yet they knew that they had committed punishable offences.

The said journalists are Linda Nyondo, Collins Phiri, Coillard, Stafrance Zulu and Chongo Sampa.

Here are briefs facts on each one of them leading to their dismisals.

1. Linda Nyondo was at loggerheads with her supervisor, unfortunately one day she slapped her supervisor.

She was charged and summoned by the disciplinary committee to appear before it on appointed days, unfortunately she failed to attend all sessions. If you were in management at ZDM, what action would you take? you can answer for me.

However in the case of ZDM management, the disciplinary committee found her guilty and recommended for her dismissal, and the management fired her. No GOVT hand.

2. Collins Phiri was employed on contract. When his contract expired, the ZDM management decided not to renew it. So, he was not fired. No GOVT hand.

3. Stafrance Zulu was a photographer employed on contract and based in Ndola, Copperbelt Province. He breached the editorial policy by taking a photo which was in bad taste and not in tandem with editorial policy. All of us work in institutions with clear rules. In the media fraternity we are guided by what is called Editorial policies and breaking one rule is punishable.

All practicing journalists operate in line with, and within the confines of the editorial policy of institutions they work for.

4. Conrad… was an online section staff. He posted the photo in bad taste which Stafrance Zulu captured on Facebook. No UPND hand. The due process of disciplinary procedure was followed by ZDM and our colleagues appealed to the Ministry of Labour who guided them to proceed to court. No further comment on this case.

5. Chongo Sampa was not an employee of ZDM. He was a correspondent or unsalaried worker. Management has no obligation to such a worker and does not need to write him an official letter to discipline him. Again No GOVT hand.

I personally dont support dismisals of young and vibrant people coz they have families but again when a wrong has been committed an action either in your favor or against you has to take effect.

Some people have come to me asking me why that one and that one at ZNBC havent been fired. My answer has been consistent, President Hakainde Hichilema has on many times without number guided on this issue urging those who still want to serve the PF to reform to avoid certain consquencies.

To date no one has been fired at ZNBC Today, Not even those that called him a DOG who will never rule this country. I know these people but because they have been embraced, they are enjoying their lives.

The Importance of Embracing Diversity in Political Parties

0

By Musamba Barbrah Chama

The Importance of Embracing Diversity in Political Parties

In a world that is increasingly divided, it is more important than ever for political parties to embrace diversity. This includes diversity of thought, opinion, and background. It also includes diversity of ability.

People with different abilities bring a wealth of perspectives and experiences to the table. They can challenge us to think differently and to see the world in new ways. They can also help us to connect with a wider range of voters.

For example, a person with a physical disability may have insights into the challenges faced by people with disabilities. A person with a mental illness may have insights into the challenges faced by people with mental illness. And a person with a learning disability may have insights into the challenges faced by people with learning disabilities.

By embracing people with different abilities, political parties can ensure that they are representing the needs of all members of society. This can help them to build stronger relationships with voters and to develop more effective policies.

Of course, not everyone will agree with every decision that a political party makes. But by embracing diversity, political parties can create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone. This can help to build trust and understanding, and it can make political parties more effective in achieving their goals.

In the case of Chellah Tukuta, his “folly” may not be seen as a valuable asset to the UPND, but it helped and still is helpful to a party where people are not ready to defend its Leaders. His willingness to defend his boss, even in an unappealing way, shows that he is a loyal and committed member of the party. He is also not afraid to speak his mind, even if it is not what others want to hear.

This type of loyalty and outspokenness can be a valuable asset in politics. It can help a party to stay united in the face of adversity, and it can help to ensure that the party’s message is heard.

The story of Chairman Mao and the sparrows is a cautionary tale about the dangers of intolerance. When we exclude people from our society, we not only harm them, but we also harm our Party. We lose out on their unique perspectives and contributions.

Not too long ago, the Party were up in arms against, the “Fimba Upoke” duo who volunteered to defend the party against PF propaganda and create a positive image around the President by constantly referring to him as ” Umufyashi Wamano ” translated as a wise Leader.

The guys were so consistent that an image was created. People that have not been useful to the party opted to quench this fire and after their silence, nobody is doing it leaving a very big room for the PF propaganda machinists to operate. Tiktok is now on fire because the people we fought as a party created a trend that is working in pushing the “Alebwelelapo” agenda.

In a world that is increasingly complex and interconnected, we need to be more open to diversity than ever before. By embracing people with different abilities, we can build stronger and more resilient communities.
