Nick Cannon is preparing to start introducing his 12 kids to each other

0

Nick Cannon has a lot of kids. 12 is the exact number at the time of writing. A lot has been said about Cannon’s proclivity for procreation, especially by Cannon himself. This has often landed him hot water, when he has joked about impregnating women like Taylor Swift and Bianca Blair.

What has also gotten him in trouble is the issues that come with having so many children with so many women. In chronological order from the last few months, Cannon has forgotten the name of one of his children. Furthermore, he admitted that he may have sent some Mother’s Day cards to the wrong people. Additionally, he’s been accused of not paying child support to certain women because of how many kids he has.

Cannon Reveals The Steps He’s Taking To Introduce His Family To Each Other

However, Cannon is having to navigate the waters of telling his kids that they have a lot of siblings. “As much as that may be a wish of mine, I’ve got to respect that’s not a wish of everyone’s,” Cannon said about getting all 12 kids in the same room. “I think that we’ll get there. One of the things I’ve witnessed from some of my elders in the game, once the children get of age to make their own decisions, it’ll happen. Because they’re currently under their mothers’ jurisdiction, I’m trying to play by the moms’ rules. But once they can make their own decisions, I would hope and pray that we’ll have established a strong enough relationship that they’ll want to come hang out with me.”

Apparently, the issue has come up recently regarding his six-year-old son Golden. “I think he’s kind of already figured it out. He knows he has other siblings. Even within his own house, he’s not an only child,” Cannon continued. “He knows about his older siblings. He’s been around the younger ones. He’s been around them, just nobody talks about it. It’s not like, ‘This is your brother or your sister. And I think the school that he’s in, he’s on the internet. He knows his dad is known for having a lot of kids,” he noted, though he said the second grader has never asked. The time is now before another kid at the school says [something],” he suggested. “But I think it’s not going to be a difficult conversation.”

Sexyy Red Calls Out Woman Who Farted Near Her At The 2023 BET Awards

0

Everyone seemed to have a great time at the 2023 BET Awards, and though Sexyy Red might agree, it wasn’t all peaches and cream. Sure, she enjoyed herself a lot alongside Chrisean Rock, twerking barefoot in the seating aisles. However, one particular unnamed woman set her off when she walked past the St. Louis native and allegedly let a fart out. Soon after, Red shared a hilarious video calling out the mystery tooter and reacting to the stinky smell. Even when you’re in a star-studded arena at a grandiose event, those real-world everyday issues still seep through the cracks.

“So, I’m pissed off right now,” Sexyy Red expressed in the clip from the comfort of her BET Awards seat. “Some stanky booty-a** bh just walked past me and farted, and it smell like a. You nasty as fk, bh. Don’t ever disrespect a queen by going to walk past me and fart. B*h, fk you!” she concluded with a laugh. Unfortunately, the 25-year-old is facing much stronger (but fortunately less smelly) hate coming her way. This time, though, it’s a direct attack and not just an isolated incident at an awards show.

Furthermore, conservative commentator Ben Shapiro blasted Sexyy Red’s latest track with Nicki Minaj, “Pound Town 2.” Moreover, he hilariously tried to read some of the more vulgar lyrics in the song with a straight face before going in on the song’s themes, as any offended hater would. Not only that, but this even elicited a direct response from Minaj on Twitter, who quote-tweeted a clip of the critique with a special message. “Roman said leave his a** out of it sir! No pun intended,” she expressed on the social media platform.

Meanwhile, the “Female Gucci Mane” is celebrating the recent release of her latest full-length project, Hood Hottest Princess. With that aforementioned hit plus other bangers like “Born By The River” and “Strictly For The Strippers,” she gave fans a nice and concise set of summer jams. Hopefully we see her career go to even further heights in the future, as she’s well on her way to an upper echelon. For more news and the latest updates on Sexyy Redd, come back to HNHH.

All Of A Sudden The Opposition Are Lecturing Zambians About The Debt Restructuring And Not The Importance Of The Deal

ALL OF A SUDDEN THE OPPOSITION ARE LECTURING ZAMBIANS ABOUT THE DEBT RESTRUCTURING AND NOT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE DEAL …***

By Stembridge Sikalundu

It is sad that the private media houses were not the ones to carry the flag and imform the zambians the greatness of the the debt restructuring deal . The media in Zambia have the right to do business but the country must come first , it should not be because UPND is power , this country will always have a govt at every particular time . That is why the international media houses like CNN , ALJAZERA etc have grown their industry because of being assertive on global and national issues .

If some people are not going to change carreers , they may run politically insane because president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has intellectually retired the political old guards , which includes new opposition leaders who thought following what the former ruling party was doing politically against the head of state was the best way to create checks and balances in this nation .We don’t need to know what debt restructuring is now from the opposition , they should have been explaining it when the country defaulted or probably when the guys were borrowing carelessly , one of the former ministers of finance said zambia still had room to borrow beyond $14 billion dollars , and the opposition were busy telling the nation, it was impossible for president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA to restructure the debt if he became president . What are they talking about when they have resorted to explain what is past and we are looking forward to the future ?.

What are they trying to mean ?, that president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has not done anything good for the country after sealing the debt deal ? ,when others failed and they were not concerned with the future effects on the country and the people . Zambians want the benefits that will come along with this advantage. We should be imagining in what state the country would have become after defaulting and failure to restructure the debt , this past election was a solution for the country . If we did not vote out the ones that are now debt lecturers zambians would have been blinded by propaganda , it is very important also among zambians to realise that in 2021 we saved the country from allowing the govt that was going to continue borrowing expensive foreign loans without parliamentary approvals.

Very recently the opposition were saying president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA should go to CHINA and they intimated that zambia was going to fail to seal the deal to restructure the debt if president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA continued to engage the west , the recent trip to FRANCE was the most CRITICISED because they knew president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA was on course and on the verge of pronouncing success for the country , how can we have an opposition which criticises a govt which is finding solutions for the country , just like they would do if truly they formed political parties to govern the people of zambia and improve their lives .

It is surprising after the deal was sealed all of a sadden many opposition politicians have become lecturers about the debt restructuring components .This deal is good for foreign direct investment , the country is opening up opportunities to have industrial revolution and create employment , wealth creation will allow govt use an expenditure frame work which is not over stretched , service delivery will be adquate and that is why change if govt was inevitable . God bless mother Zambia .

FREDRICK T.J. CHILUBA: From Musangu to Plot One

By Boyd Chipili

The month of June should not just elapse without talking about this great leader of the soil.

Fredrick Chiluba finished his race on earth on the 18th of June, 2011 and was put to rest on the 27th of the same month. Just like Kenneth Kaunda, Chiluba died at a period when the Zambian political field was becoming very tense as the country was preparing for the September 20th general elections.

By the way, Kenneth Kaunda died on the 17th of June, 2021 during the campaign period for the 2021 general elections. As proud and free Zambians, it is important to look back, take a sigh of relief and critically think about the social-economic contributions that our present and past leaders have made to mother Zambia.

But who is Chiluba? Blessed with a litany of names, Fredrick Jacob Titus ‘Mpundu Kafupi’ Chiluba, was Zambia’s second republican president who occupied plot one from early November, 1991 to early January 2002. President Chiluba hailed from Musangu, a small village along the Luapula Valley in Mwense district on the Mansa–Nchelenge highway.

There is about 20 kilometres from Mwense town to Musangu village and about hundred and fifty kilometres from Mansa town. Reaching the newly opened Mwense Trades School is a clear indication that you are few metres away from Musangu. The village is not only home to Fredrick Chiluba and his relatives but also a village to Professor Dickson Mwansa, founder of the Zambian Open University and other prominent figures.

The diminutive president Zambia has ever produced stood at 1.5m tall. Many referred to him as the master dribbler and stands out as one of the cleverest presidents Africa has ever had. His speech ever tucked in charismatic poetry was forever eloquent and distinct. He spoke with an accent of European derivation that pierced through the ear to make love to the listener’s heart with shire conviction.

Chiluba knew how to address the crowds and would tell them exactly what they wanted to hear at every opportune time. He was a tactician and deep thinker right from his early years. He declared Zambia a Christian Nation and re-introduced multi party in Zambian governance system.

Frederick Jacob Titus Chiluba was born on 30th April, 1943. He was only 21 years at the time Zambia got independence from the British colonialists. Records of evidence might not be enough and well archived but by the virtue of his character, there is no vacuum for doubt that he participated in one way or the other in the freedom struggle of Zambia.

FTJ did his primary education at Mambilima Special School and he went to Kawambwa Boys Secondary School in the early 1960s. Oral tradition and written records still confirm that Chiluba was a controversial pupil at Kawambwa Boys who on countless times influenced learners to ‘rise against’ the school management.

From Luapula, Chiluba trekked to the Copperbelt where he spent good years operating as a bus conductor and later became a councillor in the local government. Due to his gifted brain box and cunning approbation, FTJ became an accounts assistant at Atlas COPCO and it was here where his fame began to develop wings. He further went on to work for National Union Building in Ndola and all this was during the Kenneth Kaunda regime.

Climbing the ladder, Chiluba became president of the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions, the position which helped him push a thorn in Kaunda’s seat. He was arrested on some occasions but came out stronger than before.

The long process of returning Zambia to multi-party democracy had started especially towards the end of the 1980s. On 20th July 1990, a conference was held at Garden House Hotel in Lusaka and a new organisation was formed under the name Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD). Some of the early members and founders of the MMD were Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika, Arthur Wina, Levy Mwanawasa, Edith Nawakwi, Mbita Chitala (then as Derick Chitala), Vernon Mwaanga, and others.

A committee was elected to spearhead the campaign for the re-introduction of multi-partism. The committee chairperson was Arthur Wina, while Frederick Chiluba and Vernon Mwaanga were elected vice-chairpersons and Akashambatwa Lewanika was elected secretary.

Following the meeting the team had, Chiluba came out as MMD presidential Candidate for the 1991 presidential and general elections.

Following the elections which were held on 31st October 1991, Chiluba defeated Kaunda; making him the second president of Zambia. Chiluba got 75.77 per cent of the total votes cast, giving Kaunda only 24.23 per cent. 29 December 1991 saw Zambia taking a new trajectory in matters of faith and worship. President Chiluba who was barely two months in office, while addressing the nation at State House, declared Zambia a Christian Nation.

The country was offered to Jesus in all its entirety; from political, social and economic. Since then, the declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation has been enshrined in the Constitution and the country is known as one that practises Christian morals.

Even if he did not own any church, FTJ was a ‘pastor’ in his own right. Given an opportunity at any occasion to give a word of prayer, Chiluba would pray fervently, touching emotions of the crowds or congregants. On one occasion during the burial of the football team and the crew (Gabon disaster victims) at the Independence stadium in Lusaka, Chiluba gave a moving prayer which sent the entire crowd wailing in sorrow.

During his tenure as president of Zambia, Chiluba worked with four vice-presidents namely Levy Mwanawasa, Godfrey Miyanda, Christon Tembo, and Enoch Kavindele. FTJ tried to push for the third term of his office but parliament and other civil society organisations didn’t tolerate his agenda.

Chiluba hanged his boots and handed over the presidential gloves to Levy Patrick Mwanawasa his first vice-president.

There are several achievements attributed to Chiluba which should be appreciated and cherished. He re-introduced the multiparty democracy system. This resulted into the formation of many political parties in the country and freedom of speech was guaranteed to some extent. Up to this day Zambia has embraced multi-partism, thanks to FTJ and colleagues.

He liberalised the economy through the introduction of free market economy. He followed the capitalist system of the economy; citizens and the private sector were at liberty to participate in the economy of the country and free to own property. Transport and communication greatly improved.

Private sector participated in the transportation system. Enough buses for public transport were imported for the first time since independence and other forms of transport were seen on the Zambian roads.

Chiluba also embarked on infrastructure development by constructing public amenities such as schools, hospitals, and roads. The Katima Mulilo Bridge in Sesheke, Western Province linking Zambia and Namibia was constructed during the reign of Chiluba.

He declared Zambia a Christian Nation and it has been enshrined in the Zambian Constitution.

We need to honour Fredrick Chiluba by building a national infrastructure especially in Luapula or Lusaka. He was a true son of mother Zambia and he should be remembered well. Indeed we are proud and free.

CBU SUSPENDS CLASSES AFTER FATAL RTA CLAIMS THE LIVES OF TWO STUDENTS

CBU SUSPENDS CLASSES AFTER FATAL RTA CLAIMS THE LIVES OF TWO STUDENTS

The Copperbelt University –CBU- has suspended all academic activities following the death of 2 students who died in a Road Traffic Accident –RTA- metres away from the gate of the institution yesterday around 21:30 hours.

Copperbelt University Student Union President Castro Mulilo has confirmed the incident to Mafken FM radio that the deceased, who have been identified as Thabo Mumbi a third year student and Bwalya Christian Henscel a second year student both from the School of Engineering, together with another individual who has been identified only as Josphat, a former student from NORTEC were involved in an RTA as they were walking from campus through East Gate to their boarding house in Nkana East.

Mr Mulilo discloses that sadly, Mumbi died on the spot while Bwalya died few minutes after being rushed to Kitwe Teaching Hospital and Josphat survived with minor injuries.

He says the 3 were hit by a speeding motor vehicle that was coming from campus heading in the direction of Nkana East which was being driven by Esther Mponda aged 26 who allegedly lost control and hit students who were walking on the other side of the road.

Mr Mulilo says the bodies of the deceased were yesterday deposited into the Kitwe teaching hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile, Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Peacewedll Mweemba says early this morning around 02:00 police dispersed suspected CBU students who ran amock after hearing about the death of their colleagues.

Mr Mweemba tells Mafken FM radio that, after hearing the information of the RTA some students blocked Jambo drive road with big stones as well as set up of fire in the middle of the road.

He reveals that, they further went on to loot shops as well as burn some mobile money booths located near the main gate.

Mr Mweemba says the student only dispersed after police officers fired some tear smokes on them, adding that, the value of property looted is not yet known.

The Police Chief has disclosed that Esther Mponda, the driver of the vehicle involved is currently in detention at Nkana East Police Station.

PF trying to alter constitution for 1 person… they did not learn from Bill 10 – Miles Sampa

PF trying to alter constitution for 1 person – Miles
… they did not learn from Bill 10

THE PF is trying to change its constitution to suit one person, the party’s presidential aspirant Miles Sampa has charged.

Following its Central Committee meeting on Saturday, the party announced that it had set October 28, 2023 as the date for the elective General Conference to choose its new leadership but that would be preceeded by what they are calling a Constitutional Conference on July 29.

According to a statement issued by PF chairperson for information and publicity Raphael Nakacinda, the projected cost of the conference would be K5.7 million.

“The Constitutional Conference will be held under a hybrid arrangement where it will be both an in-person and virtual conference,” Nakacinda revealed.

However, Sampa has smelt a rat from the resolution of his party’s central committee meeting.

He believes the party is trying to alter the constitution to accommodate an individual although he says he doesn’t know who that individual is.

Sources have told Kalemba that former president Edgar Lungu is using every trick in the book to return to the helm of the PF after his associates convinced him that he was capable of easily winning the 2026 presidential election.

After the Central Committee meeting on Saturday, the gathering shifted to Lungu’s residence in Lusaka’s Ibex Hill where the former president led them into off-tune praise and worship songs.

Reacting to the decision of the Central committee, Sampa wondered why the PF wanted to change its Constitution.

“Why change the constitution during elections just to suit an individual, one would have thought they learnt enough lessons over Bill 10,” Sampa told Kalemba in an interview.

He said while he agreed that the party’s constitution may need amending, he said the timing set by the central committee was suspicious.

“…they should have done it all this time or better still while we were in power before 2021,” he said.

Sampa said when the party announced the general conference and presidential aspirants paid their nomination fees, the next thing would have been elections not changing the constitution.

“So to change the constitution to suit the election that’s coming defeats the purpose, that never wins. To change the constitution of a club, party or country to suit an individual,” he said.

“They want to tailor make it to suit who, I don’t who they want it to suit but it that won’t work,” Sampa added.

He demanded that the party should just hold one conference to elect its leadership.

“We should have just one conference, either in July or October. Do everything and come out with a leader. Where will the money come from to hold two conventions,” he asked.

He cautioned the PF, saying, “Even doing the two conventions is the process to dribble, but they should be aware that we will not allow them.”

Sampa also said the party’s announcement of the conference also vindicated former PF media director Antonio Mwanza who said the ongoing court issues were not to blame for the delay of the PF general Conference.

ABOUT ZAMBIA’S OVER-RELIANCE ON IMF AND WORLD BANK: A CASE OF NAIVETY OR LACK OF PATRIOTISM?- Sean Tembo

ABOUT ZAMBIA’S OVER-RELIANCE ON BRETTON WOODS INSTITUTIONS: A CASE OF NAIVETY OR LACK OF PATRIOTISM?

By Sean Tembo – PeP President

1. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group (WBG) are collectively referred to as Bretton Woods Institutions, named after Bretton Woods County in New Hampshire, USA where 43 countries met in July of 1944 to come up with a post-war international economic order. The history of these Bretton Woods Institutions in Africa and other developing nations the world over has been bitter-sweet in the sense that they have been used to influence and control the economic agenda of these poor nations in return for paltry financial aid in one form or another.

2. In other words, these Bretton Woods Institutions dictate to Governments in poor countries, who should exploit their natural resources (which in the case of Zambia is mainly copper and related minerals) and on what terms, and in return provide these poor countries with just enough financial aid to keep them yearning for more, but not enough for them to transform their economies and become self-sufficient. This is for obvious reasons, because an economically self-sufficient country will not find it necessary to deal with these Bretton Woods Institutions and to be subjected to their dictates in terms of economic policy and natural resource exploitation.

3. Put simply, it is in the best interests of Bretton Woods Institutions that a country must remain poor, which to some extent explains the bizarre nature of some economic policies that are imposed on “beneficiary” countries like Zambia, which in my considered view are meant to undermine, rather than build our economy. Take for instance the insistence by the IMF that Government should obtain a $1.3 billion loan from them, as a precondition to debt restructuring? If our biggest problem is over-borrowing, then why should the IMF tell us that borrowing more, albeit from them, is the solution? Additionally, what was the rationale of the IMF pushing Government to give tax holidays to the mines, there by diminishing our internal revenue base, especially given the fact that the majority of beneficiary companies of the tax holidays are companies that come from key members of these Bretton Woods Institutions? How does it benefit us as a nation to give up tax revenue in return for a loan from the IMF?

4. Other bizarre IMF conditions include the insistence that Government should review fuel prices on a monthly basis, which creates a fundamental uncertainty in our economy, and we all know that there is no economy that can grow in an uncertain environment. Is this a deliberate ploy by the IMF to ensure that we do not attain economic independence and are forever enslaved to them as they continue to use their proxies to extract our minerals without paying tax? Also look at the other IMF conditions such as the increment of tariffs by ZESCO which has resulted in the closure of several energy-intrnsive businesses such as manganese mines, steel companies etcetera, thereby increasing unemployment levels as well as causing untold hardships on domestic consumers.

5. Why should we be told not to subsidize a key production input such as electricity when the US Government spent more than $200 billion in the previous fiscal year subsidizing what they call “clean energy” but energy nonetheless? It is a matter of common sense that the benefits to an economy of subsidizing energy far outweigh the cost. So why are we being told otherwise? Why are we being compelled to practice the purest form of capitalism which even the founders of these Bretton Woods Institutions do not practice in their respective countries? Do these Bretton Woods Institutions have our best interests at heart, or they are here to sabotage us? Should our Government blindly embrace each and every economic policy imposed on us by these Bretton Woods Institutions or we need to begin to question some of their senseless policy proposals? Does our Government have the backbone to stand up to these Bretton Woods Institutions? Is it possible for foreign institutions to have Zambia’s best interests at heart?

6. Which brings us to the issue of debt restructuring. Out of our current external debt portfolio of about $14 billion, approximately $4 billion is with Bretton Woods Institutions, about $3.5 billion with commercial lenders such as Eurobond holders and approximately $6.5 billion with bilateral lenders such as China. The debt restructuring agreement recently reached by President Hakainde Hichilema in Paris is not for the entire $14 billion of our external debt, but merely $6.5 billion owed to bilateral creditors, which is mostly China. The reason this so-called debt restructuring agreement took very long to be reached is because of the insistence by Bretton Woods Institutions that only bilateral debt should be restructured, while China insisted that all debt should be restructured including the $4 billion or so that we owe to the Bretton Woods Institutions themselves. When the US Treasury Secretary; Janet Yellen was in the country a few months ago, there was a public spat on this issue with the Chinese Embassy in Zambia.

7. If you ask me, l think the position taken by China was more sound and reasonable. I mean, why should the Bretton Woods Institutions insist that other creditors must restructure their loan portfolio to us while they themselves are refusing to do so? Is it a question of these Bretton Woods Institutions wanting others to reduce their debt portfolio on us while they themselves increase theirs so that they can have sole and absolute sway on us and our economic affairs? Does that explain why they forced an IMF loan of $1.3 billion on us while we were already heavily indebted? Does our Government have the eyes to see through these machinations? Anyway, China eventually yielded to economic blackmail ochestrated by the Bretton Woods Institutions and finally agreed to restructure the $6.5 billion of bilateral debt while the $4 billion owed to the Bretton Woods Institutions themselves remained intact, as well as the $3.5 billion owed to commercial lenders affiliated to Bretton Woods Institutions.

8. Am l advocating that Zambia should not do business with these Bretton Woods Institutions? Absolutely not. If we as a nation are going to thrive and prosper, then we need to do business with everyone, including the Bretton Woods Institutions themselves. But we need to know when to say no and when to say yes. We need to be shrewd. We need to constantly advance the interests of our nation. We need to stop believing that a foreign individual, entity, institution or nation can put the interests of Zambia above their own interests. We need to open our eyes and stop being naive. We need to remember that we live in an extremely shrewd world, and if we are going to demand and earn fair trade for our mineral and related resources, we need to adopt a posture of strategic arrogance similar to that adopted by Arabic countries which has enabled them to resist systematic exploitation by western countries thereby allowing them to earn a fair return for their oil wealth which has enabled them to gradually diversify their respective economies and bring prosperity to their people. Zambia can only be developed by Zambians. But again, we need to be wary of the fact that it is not every Zambian who has Zambia’s plight at heart. Some Zambians are sellouts and are only interested in lining up their pockets. Such Zambians should not be put anywhere near the management of our national affairs. If by some accident they have already been put there, then they must be removed at the earliest possible opportunity. Anyway, the Future is SET ✌️✌️✌️

MY RESPONSE TO EFF’s STATEMENT ON THE MONUNENTAL US $6.3bn DEBT RESTRUCTURING DEAL BY PRESIDENT HH AND HIS ADMINISTRATION

Debt is debt a way out had to be found to save the situation a relief is must as you pay back .

One does not need to explain that the most important of all is that the deal has unlocked funds needed in critical ministries that’s the fact. Our country needed that.

Get Kaloba and see how it is going to affect your household
You will see how many of your friends you will ask for help.
You will be all over even asking for loans from banks and other financial services.

Which wife can allow a husband to idle with a pending Kaloba because the creditors will grab all your properties. Remember that no one can suspend feeding the family, paying School fees, landlord, electricity. Put yourself in HH’s Shoes who inherited an economy that was in ICU aweeeee let’s be real when dealing with issues of our beloved country Nkongole ni nkongole you cannot be at peace NEVER and you know it.

Let us look at things in reality and not create theories to just give a reason all because it’s HH and UPND mulakwa. Let HATE not distract you from reality because the huge debt affected the economy badly.

HH tried to mitigate the effects of the bad debt they left by increasing CDF, employing more teachers and nurses, Free education, mealie meal allowance for students , paying retirees, increasing civil servants salaries, 20 per cent partial NAPSA withdraw imwee tuletasha.

It wasn’t easy ask PF who borrowed and left it hanging why they defaulted and think if at all they were going to manage amidst loss of investor confidence, Corruption and break down in the rule of law e.t.c

Find out why they borrowed Eurobonds like said by others they knew they were not going to meet the demands such as respecting the rule of law and good governance

But Bally has scored more than a hat trick because he met all requirements needed to qualify for restructuring remember this huge debt affected many areas.

Batata ba Bally muli BAKULEKAFYE for SHUWA

ENERGY PROSPECTS BRIGHT AFTER HH’S FRANCE TRIP-ENG KAISALA

By Alex Vumba

President Hichilema’s recent trip to Paris, France, which culminated in the commencement of the country’s highly sought-after debt restructuring deal has injected new life into the country’s energy sector, says Eng. Charles KAISALA.

President Hichilema, who arrived back from France amidst a thunderous welcome, made history last week Thursday when he secured a debt restructuring deal amounting to US$6.3 billion.

Eng. KAISALA who congratulated the President on the milestone achievement, notes that the feat breathes fresh air for Zambia’s economy.

The breakthrough, according to Eng. KAISALA, who spoke on the significance of the milestone shortly after witnessing the President’s return, said the historic feat marked a turnaround in Zambia’s persuit for economic emancipation as it spurred investor confidence.

Also hailing the milestone as ‘historic’, Eng. KAISALA said the feat comes at a critical time when the global community grapples with energy crisis across the global community emanating from the Russia war, pandemic and climate change.

Eng. KAISALA, who chairs the ruling UPND’s Energy Sector, said with commissioning of the the 750 MW Kafue Gorge Lower Hydropower plant in late April were crucial steps in mitigating the power deficit in the country.

He said the COP27 Climate Change Summit on energy and transport deals held in Egypt in November 2022 and attended by President Hichilema was a key highlight in ensuring energy efficiency not only for Zambia but the world at large.

“The correlation between the debt deal and the persuit for investment in the energy sector cannot be overemphasized. That deal, which raises Zambia’s international image, is also good for this sector as it allows both electricity and petroleum subsectors to benefit. That’s why it’s important to clinch such deals. Such deals enhances investor confidence,” said Eng. KAISALA.

In 2020, the copper-rich country became the first African nation to default on its debt payments during the pandemic. It was burdened by loans and high interest rates that severely restricted the government’s ability to invest in critical social programmes and infrastructure development, both crucial for economic growth.

President HH should have stayed away from this peace mission

By Aaron Ng’ambi

The purported peace mission to Kyiv and Moscow, was a very interesting initiative and undertaking spearheaded by the President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa.

However, this trip evidently had major hiccups from the get-go, including but not limited to the fact that it failed to meet even by biblical standards the bare minimum of what is required for two or more people to come together. The scripture in Amos 3vs 3, is quite instructive and asks a fundamental question, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Unfortunately, it did not make sense overall, that the seven countries involved in this so-called peace mission had taken different official positions on the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The blatant truth is that when the United Nations (UN) General Assembly took a vote to condemn what was referred to as Russia’s full-scale invasion; Zambia and Egypt voted in favour of the resolution, Senegal refused to participate, while The Republic of Congo, Uganda, the Comoros, and South Africa abstained from resolution ES-11/4. This clearly shows that perhaps Zambia and Egypt should have taken time to reflect whether they should have been apart of this delegation in the first place or not. Sometimes we are left to wonder, as to who are the experts and advisors to President Hakainde Hichilema (HH), on matters of international relations and geopolitical strategies. Otherwise, it is very clear for any objective minds to notice in retrospect, that President HH should have stayed away from this mission trip and saved the county some tax-payers money. Actually, this was one of those occasions where his foreign affairs minister could have ably represented him and the country without fail.

According to the U S Department of State, “since 1978, the United States has provided Egypt with over $50 billion in military and $30 billion in economic assistance.” This kind of aid to one country by the US is unprecedented. Additionally, the US has invested $604 million to grow and digitalise Egypt’s telecommunications sector, imported $5.9 billion in U S commodities to construct, expand, and modernise Egyptian infrastructure. Thus, due to this strong bilateral relationship that has existed between Egypt and the US, President Abdel Fattah Sisi of Egypt did not go on this peace mission trip, but rather sent his prime minister to go meet with Valdimir Putin. In the same breath, why HH decided to go and meet President Putin himself, after condemning Russia within the walls of the UN is beyond comprehension. Perhaps, this is why Putin kind of gave our President a cold shoulder, as he welcomed the delegation to Moscow.

The video footage from Al Jazeera and other prominent media houses says it all. The body language of the President of the Russian Federation, shaking hands with President Ramaphosa, then sitting down with him and giggling, was indeed something to behold. At the same time, President Putin just gave President HH a firm grip, took a few pictures and then showed him where to sit. As for some other leaders on the delegation, Vladimir Putin was even seen not only giving them a handshake but also gave them a big hug as well. This is telling for anyone who knows and understands body language, later on understands the mind of President Putin.

Regrettably, as the African leaders met with President Zelensky in Kyiv, before proceeding to Moscow; the media reported that Russian increased its bombing of Ukraine with at least two explosions which rocked the capital and set off air raided sirens. If anything, this was a sign from the Kremlin expressing how the Russian government truly felt about this visit of African leaders. Unfortunately, it is becoming evident that President Putin is determined to fight this protracted war for as long as he has breath. There are no indications of him slowing down or completely withdrawing from Ukraine any time soon.

In fact, according to the former US Secretary of State Robert Gates’ book entitled Exercise of Power, he explains that at the 2007 Security Conference in Munich, Germany, the President of Russia made it clear to world leaders in attendance while gazing specifically at the newly appointed Secretary Gates, that should the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) attempt to expand an inch eastward, Russia will retaliate in defence of its interest. Therefore, the application of Sweden and Finland to join NATO and Ukraine’s application for membership in the European Union is unacceptable by any means.

This peace mission called for by Cyril Ramaphosa was misplaced and will achieve very little or no results at all in terms of ending the Russia-Ukraine war at a time when the African continent is engulfed with so many wars and conflicts.

Sadly, it appears that Africa tends to ignore her own problems at home, while doing everything to try and help the rest of the world in putting out their fires. Today, the Sudan is burning and we have not seen a delegation of heads of states from within Africa flocking to Khartoum in an attempt to arrest the situation. The sad case of perpetual instability in Somalia demonstrates that African leaders have continued to pay a blind eye to yet another serious problem at home. Also, the bloody civil war which broke out in Ethiopia would not have lasted longer than it did if African heads of states had descended on Addis Ababa, like they are excited to do so in Moscow and Kyiv. Another conflict which is worth mentioning and needs all the efforts and energies of African leaders, is the ever-on-going civil war in the Eastern DR Congo between the government forces and the M23 rebels.

Furthermore, lest we forget that President Ramaphosa has everything working against him at home from high levels of unemployment, increased crime rate, load shedding for extended hours every day, and his Phala Phala cash gate scandal. Hence, he hopes that this mission which he has championed will help him save face at home especially as South Africa goes to the poll next year. Otherwise, the much talked about peace mission to Moscow and Kyiv is definitely a misplaced priority, and simply a skillful international relations scheme for President Ramaphosa’s political survival.

In the final analysis, the naivety of our President and his international relations team must be done away with. Otherwise, this lack of sophistication rendered HH an embarrassment or rather a cold welcome by Vladimir Putin, which will make things even more awkward as President Hakainde Hichilema returns to St. Petersburg, sometime soon for the Russia- Africa summit.

Dr. Nevers Mumba Affirms Commitment to Politics and Religion

0

MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba has vowed to continue practicing both politics and religious matters.

Dr. Mumba is a veteran pastor with over four decades of experience in the preaching ministry.

The former Republican vice President is the founder of a Pentecostal Church called Victory Bible Ministries International.

Featuring on ZNBC Television’s Frank Talk Show, Dr. Mumba said he loves both politics and Church matters.

The Senior Clergy said he wants to ensure that the values of God are injected within the very body of the Zambian politics.

Dr. Mumba added that through politics he encourages the governments or the people entrusted with power to equitably deliver goods and services to every Zambian.

“When I speak, I do not speak just to preach the gospel which I do and I have done for 44 years but I also want to make sure that we encourage the governments or the people entrusted with power to govern to equitably deliver goods and services to every Zambian regardless of who they are. So that is where the politics and church comes in,” he told Frank Mutubila.

Dr. Mumba served as the eighth vice-president of Zambia from 2003to 2004 under Levy Mwanawasa.

He was Zambia’s High Commissioner to Canada after his dismissal as Republican vice president.

“Just like you look after your home, you look after your business and other things, it is very easy for me to do what I do because I love both Church and politics. I love to preach but I also love to participate in the political process to ensure that the values of God are injected within the very body of the politics of our country,” he said.

In 1997, he founded the National Christian Coalition, a Christian political movement which was registered as a political party in 1998.

NCC participated in the 2001 General Election, where Dr. Mumba emerged 5th out of over 11 presidential candidates.

“God allowed me to be born in Zambia. God told us to occupy the earth and change our world,” Dr. Mumba continued.

He has been serving as MMD president since 2012, a year after the party lost power to the Patriotic Front (PF).

Besides politics, from time to time, Dr. Mumba takes to the pulpit to preach the Word of God locally and abroad.

WE WILL SET THE BAR HIGH FOR THE NEXT MPs TO REPRESENT KATOMBOLA CONSTITUENCY TO KNOW THAT WE GO TO PARLIAMENT TO SERVE OUR PEOPLE NOT TO ENRICH OURSELVES – ANDELEKI

A mere meeting that turned into an interactive event has left the people of Kachabula in Sikaunzwe Ward of Katombola Constituency happy after the Member of Parliament Honourable Clement Andeleki donated Ten Thousand Kwacha (10,000) for purchasing of iron sheets for Ungwe Community School and 100 pockets of cement for building of toilets at Kachabula Primary equivalent to K20,000.

Honourable Andeleki, who emphasised the need for servanthood leadership, reminded his people of how entitled they are to his money and position as he went to parliament to serve them. He further assured them that his office would always be there to offer necessary support for their betterment.

In the same vein, he urged his people to apply through CDF to have their money released towards opening up and construction of Kachabula road even as he assured them of construction of deep tanks in all the 16 wards of the Constituency.

Reacting to complaints of cattle theft, Honourable Andeleki assured his constituents that a police station will be constructed as was done in Mukuni and Nyawa to reduce on criminality even as he guaranteed them to advocate for a stiffer punishment for people who steal cattle with a minimum of fifteen (15) years sentence under category of non-bailable offences.

BANK LOANS – INTEREST RATES ADJUSTMENTS- Dickson Jere

BANK LOANS – INTEREST RATES ADJUSTMENTS

By Dickson Jere

A miner got a personal loan of K108,000 from Stanbic Bank Zambia. This was after the bank signed an MOU with Lumwana Mine to allow its workers access loans from Stanbic. The loan was to be repaid within 60 months with an interest rate of 21% per annum.

All was well until after 26 months of prepaying the loan, he discovered from his pay-slips that monthly installments which was K3,077.56 had slightly gone up to K3,733.94. He sincerely believed the interest of 21% was fixed and therefore thought the bank had shortchanged him.

He sued in the High Court demanding for damages for breach of loan agreement as well as refund of all monies deducted “illegally” from him. He also wanted the bank to render an account of all interest charged above 21% per annum.

However, the bank argued that interest rates changes were subject to Bank of Zambia (BOZ) policy rate and that Stanbic reserved the right to vary the interest rates. The bank insisted that the loan agreement had in fact the conditions that allowed adjustment and the miner signed the document in agreement.

The High Court sat at Solwezi and made the following determinations after hearing from both sides.

“I must hasten to state here that it is trite law that when parties willingly enter into an agreement, they are bound by the terms and conditions of the said agreement,” said Judge Mulenga.

He then determined that the having obtained a fixed term loan, the interest rate, monthly deductions and tenure of the loan cannot remain constant. In fact, it fluctuated between 21% to 40% during the loan period.

“The reason is simple, the interest rate which is determined by BOZ policy rate as agreed by the parties…was adjusted upwards and downwards several times thereby affecting the said loan,” the Judge said.

The Court further dismissed all other claims.

“I, therefore, find and hold that the Plaintiff (miner) has failed to prove on balance of probabilities his claim that the Defendant (bank) illegally deducted money which should be refunded,” the Court ruled.

At the time of the case, the loan was fully paid.

This is an important case to borrowers to always pay attention to all the terms and conditions in loan agreements before signing so that you understand. If in doubt, seek legal advice on the clauses especially on interest.

TOP FIVE COUNTRIES LIKELY TO WIN 2024 AFCON

0

TOP FIVE COUNTRIES LIKELY TO WIN 2024 AFCON

1. Morocco

Morocco is slowly becoming a force to reckon with not only in African football but global football. They reached the semi finals of the World and will obviously aim to win the next AFCON to be hosted in Ivory Coast. They have the best squad with massive experience.

2. Zambia

Zambia is slowly regaining it’s prominence on the African continent with the export of excellent talent into major European leagues like English Premier League, Spanish LaLiga, Scottish Premier, Italian Serie A and many prominent leagues. With an experienced gaffer like Avram Grant who still has unfinished business with AFCON, Zambia is likely to win the 2024 edition. They are underrated but they have the best side to beat everyone including the calculator boys of Ghana.

3. South Africa

Many underrate South Africa but that country is doing something you don’t realise. They have drilled a formidable squad with their wrestler. They can conquer any team in Africa except Zambia who consider them their daily bread. But South Africa can win the next AFCON. Countries that go all out local at AFCON with few professionals usually win such your tournaments.

4. Ivory Coast

Being the host, Ivory Coast will play to the massive crowds and would want to win the tournament. They will be incentivised by their government, corporate world and others since it is on their turf. Expect Ivory Coast to be a force at the AFCON. The only problem will come in when they meet their nemesis Zambia. The latter has impressive record over the elephants. In most cases, when Zambia beat Ivory Coast consider them Champions of Africa.

5. Senegal

Senegal is on fire and will likely go all out with their feet to defend the AFCON. They have the best and determined squad ready to beat everyone in Africa. Just like Ivory Coast, Senegal’s problem comes in when they meet Zambia. It will be kerfuffle for the champions. In 2012, the Senegalese squad with Demba Ba was beaten blue black and Zambians knew they were champions. However, Senegal is too dangerous and will be a threat to every team especially South Africa which is full of local and inexperienced talent.

CHIPOLOPOLO QUEENS SHOULD ENGAGE HH FOR PRECISION

CHIPOLOPOLO QUEENS SHOULD ENGAGE HH FOR PRECISION.

by Mbolela Chate.

Twice we have watched our Chipolopolo Queens squander their lead and come out as losers.ln games against South Korea and lreland.lt shouldn’t be like that because the levels at which we are operating requires steadfastness and strategy.Matches are known to be won with a one goal margin. What is a problem with our girls? They are failing to defend their insight victory.

We are agree staying on top may be tricky but that is the essence of engaging in a competition.Work hard to stay afloat.

Ever since UPND and HH won the 2021 general elections they have not sat back.Yes like in a football match you celebrate a bit and get down to work.We have a duty to defend our leadership style. We were attacked over load shading and shortage of Mealie Meal. These two are things of the past.We defended well.

Chipolopolo Queens needs to be told that the best way to defend is to continue attacking mounting pressure on the opponent.Just two days ago we won debt restructuring programme for part of our external debt. The opposition is but dismayed by the UPND’s ability to win the confidence of the lMF and other Creditors. Now they are on defensive as to why they (PF) lamentably failed to score in their time.

Apart from the National Funerals following the Gabon disaster of 1993 and Gabon Victory of 2012,it was the second time l saw people lining up the route from the Airport to town to show appreciation.
The first was in 1990 when late President Nelson Mandela made the first trip outside South Africa after being released from prison. This is the landmark achievement for a sitting President. Not former Presidents; Late Chiluba, late Mwanawasa, late RB,late Sata and ECL anchieved this feat.Highly unprecedented.Keeping the opponents on defensive. The strategy of HH.

I don’t care and l don’t mind what % HH got in 2021, what matters to me now is that he is assured of 80% victory in 2026.l say so because he is kept on constantly scoring for UPND and is more than likely to score more. This is the philosophy that Barbara Banda and the team should emulate.Always be attack minded.

The challenge for the Chipolopolo Queens is to perform wonders as our Ambassadors in Australia and New Zealand.Like we lined up for our Chief Ambassador HH when he came back from Paris, France yesterday we shall equally line up for you when you come back.lt is a challenge for you my girls.

HH needs to give a lecture to our girls about precision to maintain a hard won lead.

Girls you are our Ambassadors. All the best.

Happy Sunday.

Breaking Boundaries and Reaching for the Sky: Man Spends $81K on Limb-Lengthening Surgery to Become Taller After Facing Rejection for Being Short

In a bold quest to overcome rejection and transform his life, an Atlanta-based Navy veteran, Dynzell Sigers, spared no expense, shelling out an impressive $81,000 for a limb-lengthening surgery.

Driven by a deep desire to be taller, Sigers embarked on an extraordinary journey that would push the boundaries of his physical limitations.

Childhood Insecurities and Lingering Rejection
27-year-old Dynzell Sigers’ transformed his height from 5’5″ to 6’0″ through an unconventional method – limb-lengthening surgery. His transformative journey to becoming 6’0″ began with deep-rooted insecurities stemming from past rejections.

“I was always a very shy and reserved child and was always afraid to be myself for fear of being judged or not accepted,” he revealed.

Sigers vividly recalled a pivotal rejection during his teenage years, when a crush deemed him “too short and too young.”

“In my teens, I was once rejected by a girl I had a huge crush on, and although she found me attractive, her reasoning was that I was too short and too young for her,” Dynzell Sigers through his TikTok account, @mrbrokenbonez.

This rejection stayed with him, causing him to harbor self-consciousness about his height and affecting his confidence in approaching women.

He admitted,

“I clung to that and always considered my height before approaching women, which often caused me to miss out on opportunities.”

A Bold Decision and an Expensive Investment
Motivated by a lifetime of feeling judged and rejected, Sigers made the life-changing decision to undergo limb-lengthening surgery.

The procedure, informally known as the “BBL for men,” presented a realistic option for him to increase his height. Without hesitation, he booked his appointment, embarking on a journey that would require both physical and financial sacrifice.

From Atlanta to Turkey: Two Transformative Surgeries
To achieve his desired height, Sigers traveled to Turkey, where he underwent limb-lengthening surgery twice. The grueling process involved stretching his limbs to add an impressive seven inches to his stature.

Post-surgery, Sigers faced the daunting task of relearning how to walk not once, but twice. However, he described the recovery process as “smooth” and expressed no regrets.

My recovery process has been very smooth… I had to relearn how to walk twice, but both times it didn’t take long,” Sigers shared confidently.

MNANGAGWA PLEDGES ECONOMIC REVIVAL AS ELECTION CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF

MNANGAGWA PLEDGES ECONOMIC REVIVAL AS ELECTION CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF

HARARE — Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa vowed to do “what we can to remain in power”, promising to revive an economy that has collapsed under his watch as he launched his bid for a second five-year term.

Zimbabwe will hold presidential and parliamentary elections on Aug. 23 which are expected to pit Mnangagwa, 80, of the ZANU-PF party against pastor and lawyer Nelson Chamisa, 45, of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

The election comes amid a raging economic crisis, with high inflation and a currency that plunged more than 50% this month against the U.S. dollar.

In remarks aimed mostly at his rural support base at the weekend, Mnangagwa pledged infrastructure developments.

“ZANU-PF is unstoppable. It will continue governing Zimbabwe as other parties continue to split assunder,” he told a large crowd of supporters in Chipinge, about 500 kms (311 miles) east of the capital Harare.

“We fought for our democracy, no one will stop us.”

Mnangagwa toppled independent Zimbabwe’s first president, Robert Mugabe, in a coup in 2017, eding his 37-year rule.

He was hailed as a pragmatic leader shortly after taking power, but he scored only a narrow win in 2018 elections over Chamisa, who is still considered the strongest challenger to his re-election bid.

Zimbabwe’s economic crisis tops voters’ concerns, with a 100 Zimdollar (Z$) note – the country’s highest denomination – not enough to buy an egg. About Z$10,000 fetch US$1 on the parallel market.

The opposition CCC party enjoys considerable support in towns and cities, while ZANU-PF’s supporters are mainly in rural areas.

A bullish Mnangagwa said his government had made strides in infrastructure development, power generation and grown the mining economy from $3 billion in 2018 with hopes to generate $12 billion in revenue by the end of 2023.

“We are building roads and dams and recently we started installing solar boreholes in every village across the country,” he said, speaking mostly in the Shona language.

Mnangagwa is pitted against 10 other presidential aspirants amid criticism that his government is closing the democratic space, following the passing of the so-called Patriotic Bill which opponents says outlaws criticism of the state.

Zimbabwe has endured over two decades of economic failure following land seizures by Mugabe, plunging the southern African country into an economic crisis. BBC

ANC Goes To War Against Nelson Chamisa

By Wilbert Mukori | Long before war is declared and the first guns are fired, the body bags of the first casualties—the truth, always the truth—start to mount. South Africa’s ANC government is fighting for its political survival, and the truth is its first sacrificial lamb.

Successive ANC governments have ruled the country for the last 29 years and have screwed up big time. SA is now well on its way to becoming yet another failed African state; some people say it is a failed state already.

South Africa’s economic meltdown is caused by gross mismanagement, on the one hand. The ANC government went for the vote-winning strategy of connecting more and more electricity consumers to the grid and neglected the less noticeable part of investing in the generation and transmission plants, for example. The chickens have finally come home to roost, and the country is enduring wide-ranging electricity power cuts, emphatically euphemistically called loadshedding. The power shortage is so bad that even the country’s wealth-generating mines, industries, and essential services like hospitals were switched off too!

The major cause of South Africa’s economic meltdown is undoubtedly corruption. Everyone knows of the well-documented “State Capture” by the Gupta Brothers with the connivance of former ANC President Jacob Zuma. A recent “Gold Mafia” Al Jazeera documentary revealed that Zimbabwe was losing a staggering US$1.6 billion per year to gold smugglers. Many South African citizens and institutions were named in the gold smuggling and/or money laundering cases.

The ANC government has promised to end load-shedding and stamp out corruption. Easier said than done!

South Africans are going to the polls next year, and given the country’s history of holding free, fair, and credible elections (Nelson Mandela’s legacy), the ANC government is worried that the people will give the party the boot.

President Cyril Ramaphosa and his ANC friends are particularly worried should the ongoing 2023 Zimbabwe elections result in the Zanu PF regime being booted out of office. Zanu PF’s 43 years in power has been disastrous for Zimbabwe, so much so the country is a failed state – an undisputed a historic fact. The very fact that Zimbabweans have finally successfully booted out Zanu PF will galvanise South Africans to want to do the same.

If Zimbabwe was to notch up some significant economic recovery after booting out the corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF regime, this will turn the wave of ANC must go into an unstoppable tsunami! A modest economic recovery is certainly possible given the seriousness of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown today, which is not a far cry from that in 2008. The Zimbabwe economy recovered to register a 12% growth rate in 2009 compared to a negative 6% in 2008 following the formation of the 2008–2013 GNU.

The ANC government is engaged in a pre-emptive rearguard fight to stop regime change in Zimbabwe at all costs!

In November last year, the ANC resolved that the party would not allow the West to achieve regime change in Zimbabwe through its imposition of economic sanctions. And ever since, the party, particularly Secretary General Filike Mbalula has returned to this theme with passion boarding on hysteria.

“Americans want regime change. Even here in Zimbabwe, Mbeki stood firm. They wanted Mugabe to change over night, and then they attacked us on quite a scale. The Americans can move in the afternoon, and by dinner time, Mugabe would be finished.” SG Mbalula told the ANC Western Cape 9th Provincial Conference on Friday, June 23, 2023.

“We do not subscribe to the regime change policy. That government must be changed willy-nilly through undemocratic means, through military power. We opposed the sanction and said these sanctions against Zimbabwe will be detrimental to the economic growth of that country.”

Zanu PF has never held free, fair, and credible elections since the country’s independence in 1980, and ANC leaders know that. In the watershed 2008 elections, Zanu PF’s blatant cheating and wanton violence were so outrageous that even the AU and SADC, which had turned a blind eye to Zanu PF vote rigging, could not do so then. It was none other than SADC leaders themselves who forced Zanu PF to agree to the need for the country to implement democratic reforms to ensure free and fair elections.

It is a great tragedy that the 2008–2013 GNU, whose primary task was to implement democratic reforms, failed to implement even one token reform. And so the Zanu PF regime emerges out of the GNU with all its dictatorial powers intact, including the power to rig elections. Zanu PF rigged the 2013 and 2018 elections and, in a similar fashion, is rigging these 2023 elections.

It is nonsensical that SG Mbalula should object to undemocratic regime change as a matter of principle when he knows the regime the ANC is protecting rigged the elections and therefore, per se, is politically illegitimate in the first place.

Zimbabwe was already in serious economic trouble, as evidenced by the country adopting the two five-year Economic Structural Adjustment Programmes (ESAP), 1990–94 and 1995–99, meant to revive the flagging economy. The much-hoped-for revival never happened. In 1999, the WB, IMF, and most Western country-related financial institutions stopped giving Zimbabwe any financial assistance because the country was failing to service its debts, much less repay them. This all happened well before the sanctions that were imposed in 2001.

The root causes of Zimbabwe’s economic ruin are gross mismanagement, rampant corruption, and brazen lawlessness, such as the seizure of white-owned farms to give to party loyalists. Zanu PF has enjoyed absolute power for the last 43 years because the party rigs elections, giving these problems time to spread and grow.

Zimbabwe is a failed state for the same reasons SA has been marching relentlessly towards the same goal: mismanagement, corruption, and lawlessness. Zimbabwe had a 14-year head start and no restraint forces thanks to the dictatorial powers ability to rig elections and claim absolute power.

The sanctions’ contribution to Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown is very small. Zanu PF propaganda has made sanctions a mountain out of a molehill.

What Zimbabwe needs to get out of this economic and political mess is implement the democratic reforms and thus cure the nation of the curse of rigged elections and bad governance.

The sanctions’ contribution to Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown is very small. Zanu PF propaganda has made sanctions a mountain out of a molehill. It is totally unacceptable that this ANC government should seek to impose this failed Zanu PF dictatorship on Zimbabwe under the pretext of fighting the Americans’ sanction-initiated regime change agenda.

“Mnangagwa conducted a coup d’etat and removed Mugabe. He implemented some reforms. And they will still not be satisfied until they get their puppet into power; they will never be satisfied. They want Chamisa, or is it Chancer?” ranted ANC SG Mbalula.

The military coup was just a musical chairs game; no one expected it to produce any meaningful economic changes, much less grand political changes such as free and fair elections. No one, that is, except SG Mbalula.

This ANC regime is hell-bent on keeping this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship in power against the democratic wishes of the people of Zimbabwe.

The tragic reality for Zimbabwe is that both Zanu PF and the CCC do not care about democracy, free and fair elections, or good governance. All they care about is power, and they will use all means, democratic or otherwise, to secure it. Zanu PF will never implement the reforms to ensure free and fair elections; the party knows its 43 years in power were only possible because it rigged elections. Zanu-PF will never reform itself out of power.

Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends wasted the golden opportunity to implement reforms during the 2008–2013 GNU because they were corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. They have since given up all hope of implementing reforms and settled for a share of the spoils of power because they are still corrupt and breathtakingly competent.

“If the elections are so flawed and illegal, then why are Zimbabwe’s opposition leaders participating in these elections in droves?” Mnangagwa has often argued Of course, he has a point. Meanwhile, he has increased the benefits of winning the few gravy train seats on offer to entice the opposition to participate in these flawed elections.

Since 2013, SADC leaders too have used the opposition’s greed as an excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy. And the ANC will be banking on the same excuse to get the regional body to once again grant Zanu PF legitimacy and thus unwittingly deliver the ANC’s objective of no regime change in Zimbabwe.

The real big losers here are the ordinary Zimbabweans, who have paid dearly all these years for the reality of Zimbabwe as a failed state. Another five more years of this chaos, economic meltdown, and hopelessness are unthinkable. But with Zanu PF, the CCC, and now the ANC working to perpetuate the Zanu PF dictatorship, it is fait accompli!

SA is the regional superpower, but still, that does not give the ANC the right to usurp the people of Zimbabwe’s right to decide who governs Zimbabwe! The last thing we want is another Russia in our neighbourhood!- SOURCE:zimbabwelight.blogspot.com

LIONEL MESSI: ARGENTINA GREAT SAYS RELATIONSHIP WITH PARIS ST-GERMAIN FANS ‘FRACTURED’

Lionel Messi says his relationship with Paris St-Germain fans “fractured” after a “significant” number of supporters started to treat him differently.

Messi, who won the World Cup with Argentina in December, left PSG at the end of last season after two years and has joined Inter Miami.

In the second half of last season, Messi was repeatedly booed and PSG had to increase security around his house.

“I think in the beginning it was something wonderful,” said Messi.

Speaking to beIN Sports, the 36-year-old said: “But then some people started to treat me differently, a part of the Paris supporters. I think the vast majority still see me and treat me as they did at the beginning, but there was a fracture with a significant group of the Paris fans, which obviously wasn’t my intention, far from it.

“It happened just as it had happened before with [Kylian] Mbappe, with Neymar. I know that’s the way they behave.

“I’ll take away with me the people who respected me, as I always respected everyone since I arrived and that’s all.”

Messi said he did not know if Argentina beating France in the World Cup final was a factor.

He was booed by some PSG fans after being suspended for an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia, and again during his final match for the Ligue 1 champions.

In a wide-ranging interview, Messi also said he found it “very difficult” to adapt to life in Paris on and off the pitch following his 2021 move from Barcelona, having missed pre-season and then later having a month out mid-season with the pandemic.

In contrast, he said he felt “very comfortable” at the start of his second season at Parc des Princes but the mid-season winter World Cup “affected the whole season for everyone”.

‘I’ve achieved everything’
In winning the World Cup – Argentina’s first in 36 years – Messi added football’s biggest prize to a list of trophies that includes a record seven Ballon d’Or titles – awarded to the best footballer each year – four Champions Leagues, one Copa America, 10 La Liga titles with Barcelona and two Ligue 1 crowns with PSG.

In May, he broke Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the most goals scored in Europe’s top five leagues and, to date, has scored a combined 807 goals for club and country.

“I have nothing left to achieve, I’ve achieved everything,” he said.

However, Messi said his individual achievements were secondary to those won with his teams, though he did concede they were “nice recognitions”.

“I achieved the most important goal I had, which was to win the World Cup with my national team and it was something extraordinary, the way everything happened,” he said.

“I never thought about individual awards and I never gave them more importance than the collective awards.

“To have achieved the objectives with the Argentina national team and to have achieved everything at an individual level, at a team level, for me it is to close an extraordinary career.” BBC News

Response To Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba’s Criticism Of Debt Restructuring- Alexander Nkosi

RESPONSE TO AMBASSADOR EMMANUEL MWAMBA’S CRITICISM OF DEBT RESTRUCTURING

By Alexander Nkosi

AMBASSADOR MWAMBA: It is a bad deal.

ALEXANDER NKOSI: What was a bad deal was borrowing heavily without growing the capacity of the economy to pay back. The biggest lesson from all this is that we need to ensure that borrowed funds grow the economy significantly so that we are able to pay back. Zambia defaulted in 2020. We are lucky that we benefited from debt service suspension following the negative impact of the pandemic. Anything that helps us reduce the current burden brought by this huge debt is good for the country, be it reduction in interest rates, increase in period of repayment, increase in grace period or haircut.

AMBASSADOR MWAMBA: In the last 3 years, Zambian Government has not been servicing it’s debt since December 2020. What have we done with the resources and savings that should have been directed to debt service? What happens now as we begin to pay the interests?

ALEXANDER NKOSI: It is not correct to say Government has not been servicing its debt. Government has been servicing multilateral and domestic debt. It is commercial and bilateral debt that has been affected by debt service suspension pending completion of debt restructuring. Regarding how government used funds freed by debt service suspension, take a close look at the annual budgets, the allocations will show you how government used that money. In the absence of debt service suspension, we could have either failed to do most of the things in the budgets or borrowed heavily to do them. Perhaps the question should be: how did we accumulate USD31.74b in total debt and interest arrears as at end of 2021 and ended up with a shrinking GDP and without capacity to pay back? We need to learn from this experience so that we can do better moving forward.

AMBASSADOR MWAMBA: Concentrate on raising domestic revenue by cancelling tax holidays and unnecessary incentives that have been given to the mining sector. By 2021, Zambia was earning over $1.1billion in tax revenue but is now earning $400million from this sector.

ALEXANDER NKOSI: The figures you used are not correct. I assume that you are comparing earnings for 2021 and 2022 because 2023 data is not complete. The correct figures are that in 2021 Zambia earned K25 billion from mining company income tax and mineral royalty tax while in 2022 the figure reduced to K22.7 billion. However, note that the average copper price in 2021 was USD9,301 while in 2022 it reduced to K8,813. Also note that production in 2021 was 837,996 metric tonnes of copper while in 2022 it reduced to 800,696 metric tonnes. While deductibility of mineral royalties did contribute to the reduction, you should have explained other key factors like reduction in copper production, prices and ore grade which played a huge part.

AMBASSADOR MWAMBA: So far total public and publicly-guaranteed debt has jumped from USD23 billion in December 2021 to USD32 billion in 2023.

ALEXANDER NKOSI: The figures you presented are not correct. In 2021 total public sector debt (including public guaranteed debt) was K30.93 billion and it increased to K31.63 billion in 2022. If we include interest arrears, in 2021 it was K31.74 billion and in 2022 it increased to K32.8 billion. Note that this increment is largely driven by disbursements to ongoing projects and programmes that were not cancelled.

AMBASSADOR MWAMBA: Negotiatiate for total debt cancellation, this deal offers no immediate benefits and merely postpones the problem.

ALEXANDER NKOSI: We need debt relief now. We cannot go on waiting for total debt cancellation that may take many years, it is a process we have no control over. Hence, the relief we have gotten is welcome as it will give us breathing space to grow the economy and be able to pay back.

Thank you.

DEBT RESTRUCTURING, A REBIRTH FOR ZAMBIA

June 25, 2023

LUSAKA – Government says the recently reached 6.3 billion U$ Dollar agreement on the restructuring of Zambia’s debt with its official creditors is a rebirth that gives the country an opportunity to correct the debt situation.

Ministry of Information and Media Director Spokesperson Thabo Kawana says the country went into borrowing beyond its capacity to repay hence falling into a debt burden.

Speaking yesterday when he launched the Impact Connect News Makers Forum in Lusaka, Mr. Kawana said the accrued debt created a mountain that was choking the Zambian people.

“The debt became like a Python around our neck and squeezing the life out of us while we were looking,” Mr. Kawana said.

He said the debt restructuring program will allow the country to pay back the debt without affecting service delivery to the citizens.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kawana said the country has recorded alot of positives because of the right Managers running the affairs of the country in reference to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and his New Dawn Government.

Mr. Kawana cited the introduction of free education which has given the Zambian children an opportunity to be in school guaranteeing them a better future.

” When you have children that are uneducated and keep growing from childhood into adulthood without an aorta of education, you are breeding a nation of junkies,” he charged.

When asked on the sustainability of some policies like free education and students meal allowances, Mr. Kawana said these are sustainable and permanent because government budgets for them.

And a beneficiary under the CDF Skills Development Component Newton Monze said the sponsorship has transformed his life as he used to abuse alcohol due to lack of funds to go to school.

Another student from the University of Zambia Moses Besa persuing law said the student loan facility and reintroduction of meal allowances has enabled him to be the only family member to study at the highest institution of learning.

He commended President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and the New Dawn Government for creating equal opportunities for all youths in the country.

The impact Connect News Makers Forum is an initiative under Blind Tiger aimed at assisting the government in amplifying its developmental works.

Present at the event was Blind Tiger Executive Director Sikazwa Luyando who pledged his organization’s commitment in providing a platform for beneficiaries of government services to share their success stories.

6 NABBED IN CONNECTION WITH STOLEN COPPER CATHODES IN NDOLA
By Nonhlanhla Phuti/Tellah Hazinji

Police on the Copperbelt have apprehended six suspects for staging a fake robbery in connection with the 32.9 tons of copper cathodes that was reported stolen last Friday at Michael Chilufya Sata toll plaza in Ndola.

Copperbelt Police Commander Peacewell Mweemba says the suspects were nabbed after they faked a report of aggravated robbery purporting that the named truck which they were in charge of was robbed at gunpoint by unknown criminals when in actual fact, they were the ones behind the robbery and that main driver had organized with other criminals to steal the copper cathode he was carrying.

Mr. Mweemba explains that brief facts of the matter are that Ndola Police District Anti-Robbery squad on Friday, 23rd June 2023 received information from a concerned member of public who reported that suspected activities of theft were taking place at a named garage in Ndola near Trade Fair grounds and that acting on the said information, the anti-robbery squad rushed to the place and found copper cathode kept in an incomplete building within the garage in readiness to be laden on a volvo tipper truck.

He says upon arrival, police officers found that some members of the public had already apprehended the driver identified as Mwiza Simwizye, 35 of Kalulushi who bought the contraband at the said garage who when briefly interviewed confirmed that he had taken over the truck Mitsubishi Fuso from Michael Chilufya Sata toll gate along Ndola Kitwe dual carriage way from unknown driver.

Mr Mweemba says according to the driver, Mwiza Simwizye was engaged to drive the truck by a male only identified as john of Kalulushi District and that under the instruction, the truck was driven from Michael Chilufya Sata toll gate to a named garage in Ndola were the copper cathode was offloaded and truck abandoned next to bridge shipping company located along Kabwe Road.

He says also impounded at the scene was a tipper truck operating under a company named Copart Trading and Construction which was being driven by a male identified Kelvin Kabonga of riverside in Kitwe who has disclosed to police that he was hired by mr john of Kalulushi to ferry the copper to a place he was going to be directed within Ndola.

Mr Mweemba says two other suspects also hired by mr john to offload the contraband in Ndola have been apprehended and that police have managed to establish the rightful owner of the copper belonging to Sico Mines of Democratic Republic of Congo.

Meanwhile, Mining expert Edward Simukonda says the stealing of a truck carrying copper calls for the re-introduction of armed escorts for safer movement of the high value goods.

Mr. Simukonda tells phoenix news that this unfortunate incident is an eye opener to the realization that truck drivers especially those carrying high value goods are at risk hence the need for armed escorts.

2023 Zimbabwe Elections: Linda Masarira And Elisabeth Valerio Launch Appeal Against Presidential Candidacy Disqualification

2023 Zimbabwe Elections: Linda Masarira And Elisabeth Valerio Launch Appeal Against Presidential Candidacy Disqualification

The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) recently lodged two appeals with the Electoral Court challenging the Nomination Court’s decision to dismiss the candidacies of Linda Masarira and Elisabeth Valerio for the upcoming general elections on 23 August.

ZLHR has taken this legal action to contest and overturn the ruling, advocating for the rights of these individuals to run for the position of President.

Masarira and Valerio were unable to fulfill the registration requirement of paying the mandatory US$20,000 fee before the deadline on Wednesday, resulting in the disqualification of their candidacies for the upcoming election.

Despite being granted an additional two hours by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) on Thursday to make the payment, they were still unable to meet the financial obligation.

Masarira serves as the leader of the opposition party, Labour, Economists, and African Democrats (LEAD), while Valerio holds the position of President within the United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA).

Valerio has recently expressed her concern about the Zimbabwean Parliament’s decision to uphold the high nomination fees set by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).

She emphasized the substantial obstacle they pose for aspiring candidates who lack the financial resources to meet such requirements.

She contended that the imposition of high nomination fees restricts political participation solely to individuals with financial means, thereby eroding the political rights of citizens.

Linda Masarira and Elisabeth Valerio Launch Legal Battle to Restore Their Presidential Candidacy
According to a statement by the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, Elisabeth Valerio and Linda Masarira are advocating for the acceptance of their candidacies by the Nomination Court.

Taking to its Twitter page, the ZLHR wrote:

On behalf of @LEADZim2023 leader @lilomatic & @uzalliance leader @PresValerio, we filed 2 notices of appeal at Electoral Court appealing against the decision of the Nomination Court, which rejected their nomination as candidates for election to the office of President in general elections scheduled for 23 August. We want Electoral Court to set aside the decision of the Presiding Officer of the Nomination Court, who rejected the nomination of the 2 opposition political party leaders’ nomination as candidates for election to the office of President We also want the Electoral Court to declare the duo as having been validly nominated as candidates for election to the office of president.

Wagner Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin will leave Russia and won’t face charges after calling off his troops’ advance on Saturday

0

The chief of the rebel Wagner mercenary force will leave Russia and won’t face charges after calling off his troops’ advance on Saturday, Moscow said, easing Russia’s most serious security crisis in decades.

The feud between Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin and Russia’s military brass came to a violent head in the past day, with his forces capturing a key army headquarters in southern Russia and then heading north to threaten the capital.

Within hours of Prigozhin’s about-face, the Kremlin announced he would leave for Belarus and Russia would not prosecute either him or the group’s members.

It had been a dramatic day of developments, with President Vladimir Putin warning against civil war, Moscow telling locals to stay off the streets and Kyiv revelling in the chaos engulfing its enemy.

The tide shifted suddenly when Prigozhin made the stunning announcement that his troops were “turning our columns around and going back to field camps” to avoid bloodshed in the Russian capital.

Prigozhin, who has feuded bitterly with Moscow’s military leadership even as his outfit led parts of Russia’s Ukraine offensive, said he understood the importance of the moment and did not want to “spill Russian blood”.

Wagner troops cheered

By early Sunday Wagner had pulled fighters and equipment from Rostov-on-Don, where they had seized the military headquarters, said the regional governor.

But before they left, dozens of residents were cheering and chanting “Wagner! Wagner!” outside the military headquarters they had captured.

Authorities in the southern Lipetsk region announced the lifting of restrictions after earlier reporting Wagner fighters in their territory, where the local capital is just 420 kilometres (260 miles) south of Moscow.

Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko said he had negotiated a truce with Prigozhin, drawing thanks from Moscow.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov later told reporters that the “criminal case against him (Prigozhin) will be dropped. He himself will go to Belarus.”

Peskov also said that members of Wagner who had taken part in what authorities termed an “armed rebellion” will not be prosecuted.

“Avoiding bloodshed, internal confrontation, and clashes with unpredictable results was the highest goal,” Peskov added.

Kyiv revelled in the chaos that engulfed its enemy.

“Prigozhin humiliated Putin/the state and showed that there is no longer a monopoly on violence,” presidential aide Mykhailo Podolyak said on Twitter.

While Russia claimed the rebellion had no impact on its Ukraine campaign, Kyiv said the unrest offered a “window of opportunity” as the nation pressed its long-awaited counter-offensive.

Moscow’s warning

The United States and its allies publicly stayed on the sidelines as officials waited to see how the revolt would play out.

US President Joe Biden spoke with the leaders of France, Germany and Britain amid concerns that Putin’s control over the nuclear-armed country could be slipping.

Moscow issued a stiff warning to the United States and allies to stay back.

“The rebellion plays into the hands of Russia’s external enemies,” the foreign ministry said.

Before Prigozhin’s climbdown, Russian regular forces had launched what one regional governor called a “counter-terrorist operation” to halt the Wagner advance northwards up a main highway towards Moscow.

In the capital, the mayor urged Muscovites to stay indoors and declared Monday a day off work.

Security was tightened in the city centre, with armed men in flak jackets guarding the parliament building and Red Square closed off to the public.

“I don’t know how to react. In any case it’s very sad this is happening,” 35-year-old Yelena told AFP, declining to give her last name.

The measures came after Prigozhin announced his troops had taken control of the military command centre and airbase in the southern city of Rostov-on-Don, the nerve centre of Russia’s offensive in Ukraine.

‘A blow to Russia’

Responding to the challenge in a televised address, Putin accused Prigozhin of a “stab in the back” that posed a threat to Russia’s very survival.

“Any internal turmoil is a deadly threat to our statehood and to us as a nation. This is a blow to Russia and to our people,” Putin said, demanding national unity.

“Extravagant ambitions and personal interests led to treason,” Putin said, referring to Prigozhin, who began building his power base as a catering contractor.

Another Putin ally, Chechen strongman Ramzan Kadyrov, declared that he had dispatched his own units to help quash the Wagner rebellion.

Armed Wagner fighters deployed around administrative buildings in Rostov and tanks were seen in the city centre.

As the insurrection force headed north through Voronezh and Lipetsk towards Moscow, the capital’s mayor announced that “anti-terrorist” measures were being taken.

Critical facilities were “under reinforced protection”, TASS reported, citing a law enforcement source.

While Prigozhin’s outfit fought at the forefront of Russia’s offensive in Ukraine, he repeatedly blamed Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and Valery Gerasimov, chief of the general staff, for his fighters’ deaths.

President William Ruto voices concerns over genocide in Sudan

0

President William Ruto of Kenya has called for an immediate halt to the ongoing armed conflict in Sudan, expressing deep concerns about the signs of genocide emerging in the country.

Speaking to France 24 TV from Paris, where he participated in a Summit for a New Global Financing Pact, Ruto attributed the destruction of Sudan and the loss of civilian lives to rival generals in the region.

“The war is senseless. The war is not legitimate in any way,” emphasized President Ruto, who also serves as the leader of the IGAD quadripartite mechanism for resolving the Sudanese crisis.

He stressed the urgent need to cease clashes in the Khartoum and Darfur regions, stating, “There are already signs of genocide. What is going on in Sudan is unacceptable.”

President Ruto highlighted that both parties involved in the conflict employ military power to devastate the country and perpetrate violence against innocent civilians.

However, despite being appointed by the East African bloc to chair the quartet consisting of Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, and South Sudan, President Ruto faced rejection from the military leadership in Sudan.

Addressing Sudan’s explicit rejection of Kenyan leadership for the quartet, President Ruto responded that al-Burhan had made similar statements regarding the IGAD, the UN, and the Jeddah talks.

Furthermore, President Ruto dismissed al-Burhan’s accusations that Kenya was harbouring RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, also known as Hemetti, in a hospital in Nairobi.

He firmly stated, “This is not true. It is all a false narrative.”

Also, Sudanese officials have accused the Kenyan leader of lacking neutrality in the conflict due to suspicions of business dealings between Hemetti and President Ruto.

Following the eruption of fighting in Khartoum, Ruto condemned the Sudanese army’s airstrikes on RSF positions, as these attacks also impacted civilians.

President Ruto’s reference to genocide in Sudan reflects the alarming pattern of systematic attacks on civilians in West Darfur by RSF-backed militiamen.

Emphasizing the necessity for a resolution, the head of the IGAD quartet underscored the importance of bringing together al-Burhan, Hemetti, political leaders, and civil society groups for negotiations.

President Ruto remained optimistic, stating that such an endeavour is “feasible.”

Brace yourself for harder times ahead as we begin to service the debt beginning 2024- Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

Facts about this deal-Why We Must Chart a Different Path

By Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

• No Debt forgiveness or debt cancellation has been achieved in the deal.

• Brace yourself for harder times ahead as we begin to service the debt beginning 2024. It’s maturity dates due and interests that were negotiated and deferred to 12-20years.

• the last 3 years, Zambian Government has not been servicing it’s debt since December 2020. What have we done with the resources and savings that should have been directed to debt service? What happens now as we begin to pay the interests?

•Lazard despite the repeated political scandalisation by Government and it’s official, was part of the Creditors Committee and led the negotiations on behalf of Zambia!

•Some incidental good news to this deal, support will immediately come from as the second release of $188million will be made by the IMF. An outstanding balance of $924million of the Extended Credit Facility (ECF)will be released in due course after every successful staff-level review and board approval. The ECF was designed as a 38month program.

• Zambia received a loan from the World Bank of $750million in 2022. What was this money spent on?

ITS A BAD DEAL

My Recommendations;

1. Concentrate on raising domestic revenue by cancelling tax holidays and unnecessary incentives that have been given to the mining sector. By 2021, Zambia was earning over $1.1billion but is now earning $400million from this sector

2. Develop and take control of other mining opportunities and low hanging fruits in the gold, sugilite and gemstone sub-sector.

3. Stop the grand corruption in Government large procurements in fertiliser, medicine, oil and other sectors currently bleeding the Treasury.

4. Plan to produce and export food for 400million people around SADC by utilising the industrious small-holder farmers and develop the farming blocks that already have free and available one million hectares of land.

5. Focus on the Economy and not your political opponents. Stop the rot of abusing human rights. Promote the Rule of Law and stop undermining Democracy.

6. Stop and stem the numerous and unnecessary foreign travels by the President, his Ministers and others. Implement austerity measures, stop wasteful expenditure.

7. CDF has potential to bring development at local level but sadly, it has now degenerated to a partisan feeding and corrupt frenzy where loans, contracts and grants are benefiting targeted cooperatives. Regulations around purchase of capital equipment by every constituency as this may lock up huge resources in equipment that may provide limited return.

8. Implement constitutional requirement that obligates government to seek parliamentary approval every time they are contracting foreign debt. So far total public and publicly-guaranteed debt has jumped from $23billion in December 2021 to $32billion in 2023.

9.Negotiatiate for total debt cancellation, this deal offers no immediate benefits and merely postpones the problem.

9 . Join and Sign the international petition and campaign to cancel Zambia’s total debt currently being pioneered by Debt Justice.

A BAND-AID ON A SEPTIC WOUND
[The curious case of Kings and paupers]

THE solution to Zambia’s development and prosperity, as a function of its sovereignty, remains, through fair trade, its judicious management of its resources and the translation of these into forex, silver and gold.

With this policy, as its anchor for the recovery of its economy, Zambia would then be able to pay back its debts or maintain the requisite debt-carrying capacity.

Placing band-aids on economic abscesses is folly.

Curiously, note that, for reasons of power, control and leverage, the West is NOT interested in debt-free countries.

Besides, under the current financial world order, the world does NOT have enough money to enable a debt-free existence of corporate entities, nations and individuals.

Nonetheless, note that Zambia is among the top ten most-resorced countries in the world.

What it lacks only is COGNITION and COURAGE.

For now, debt restructuring, is a distraction.

Debt restructuring must never be a priority for any country. The priority must remain wealth translation as a sustainable occupation for that country’s balance of payments’ health, socio-political wellbeing and the security of its sovereignty.

In the absence of building sustainable capacity for the debtor to generate his or her own income security, debt restructuring, even actual cancellation, is akin to placing a band-aid on a septic wound.

It perpetuates poverty and dependence.

It does NOT address the root problem, the idiocy of the borrower. To state it politely, it does NOT address the incapacity of the borrower to fully comprehend his environment and adapt to it.

You see, Zambia has not been servicing its debt since it defaulted in 2020. In 2022, the IMF gave us an initial USD 185 equivalent of SDRs. Did Zambia get better? No.

Statistics show that poverty in Zambia has actually increased by eleven percent in the last two to three years.

Money velocity is slow, inflation is high, the private sector is bleeding jobs, teenage pregnancies are on the rise, prostitution has increased, divorce rates have soared and crime rates have skyrocketed.

The Bank of Zambia is now running out of money [imports cover] and the Kwacha’s strength isn’t helping citizens.

The Zambia Revenue Authority in Q2 reported an unprecedented drop in its targeted collections.

Investor confidence has fallen as evidenced by the recent under-subscription of Zambia’s bonds.

All these indicators of economic malaise and social collapse or a failing country are occurring at a time when health facilities remain without medical and surgical supplies, and the quality of education has plummeted.

Zambia is not only a vassal State but it is currently also a pauper country.

Paradoxically, Zambia is intrinsically wealthy but without money.

Zambia is now surviving NOT on its own ability to stay alive and vibrant but on the mercy and crumbs of its masters, the West.

A tutored eye will see that the West has sensed political danger.

This explains why it has lobbied that debt serving for Zambia focusing on the principal repayments should be delayed until after 2026 to help their agents here in Zambia stay in power.

The West has noticed real political and power-threatening tectonic shifts in Zambia today.

Note that the West has its own serious interests to secure in Zambia.

Zambia is presently a veritable THEATRE of geopolitical war between the West and the East.

Explains why ECL was pushed [read lost].

To what end should Europeans through the EU be financing Zambia’s social sector budget? You will ask.

What sovereignty is there if your healthcare and education have to be financed through THANDIZO from others.

For instance, such consumptive expenditure which Zambia ought to finance itself will now come through an EU Euro 60 million donation towards healthcare and education.

And our expenditure might just be of the kind to require additional bailouts.

Quite shameful, if you ask me.

Note that anyone whose survival is sustained by another often gets screwed.

What many Zambians are ignorant of is that the Euro 60 million coming to Zambia is part of the EU’s Euro 300 billion Global Gateway Initiative whose chief aim is to diminish and displace the presence of China in Africa.

Observe that the just-ended Paris meetings did NOT achieve any specific milestones for the development of countries of the South as a promotion of their sovereignty.

To the contrary, another USD 100 billion was made available as loans [read yokes] through the IMF to poor countrues ring-fenced under the guise of climate aid.

Barring the policy outlined in the opening paragraph of this treatise, Zambia will remain in economic choppy waters, citizens will continue to be disgruntled and the UPND’s hold on power will remain tenuous going towards 2026.

When the managing director of the IMF, a Western construct, Kristalina GEORGIEVA, patronising and condescending, refers to our Republican President as her brother, then you know what is at play.

Such friendly banter is not only scary but it is also demeaning and revealing.

Similarly, you should wonder why many Westerners, some of them diplomats stationed in Zambia, have now gone into a PR overdrive for the UPND, rejoicing at the turn of events.

Zambia remains a colony.
Zambia remains a vassal State.

It is not FDI alone with its anticipated but elusive trickle-down benefits which will improve the per capita income of Zambians and end their poverty, but this must be coupled with a deliberate policy by the government of the Republic of Zambia to, say, create about 200 sector-specific US dollar [reserve currency for now] millionaires that are indigenous citizens by 2031 each with an annual turnover of not less than USD 100 million through targeted investments from commercial and concessional debt, aid-for-investment, tax and non-tax government revenue [dividends from SoEs].

Zambia, as it steadily translates its resources into other forms of wealth, must formulate policies which, as a priority, aim to sustainably empower its citizens through ownership of various means of production.

This is how we will drain the pus from the worsening septic national economic wound and facilitate its healing.

Placing band-aids on economic abscesses is folly.

For now, pepani abale ndi alongo, we are NOT on track.

As 20 million Zambians, in exchange for our national integrity, sovereignty and liberty, the paltry USD 188 million support now coming our way, primarily to shore up our forex reserves at the BOZ, which our own economy ought to do, is only equivalent to a footballer’s transfer fee 😭.

We pray 🙏.

Zambia to Pay 1% Interest After ‘Mission Impossible’ Debt Deal… Interest rates will rise after 14 years to a maximum 2.5%

Emmanuel Mwamba

Details of the Zambian Deal

Terms of Zambia’s debt restructuring deal. Interest rates start at 1%. 40% Net Present Value reduction.

Zambia to Pay 1% Interest After ‘Mission Impossible’ Debt Deal

  • Interest rates will rise after 14 years to a maximum 2.5%
  • Deal sets a precedent for other nations with unaffordable debt

Zambia will pay interest rates of as low as 1% until 2037 as part of its debt restructuring deal secured with nations including China this week, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The southern African country will push out maturities on $6.3 billion in bilateral debt to 2043, representing an average extension of more than 12 years. Rates will increase to a maximum 2.5% after 14 years under the baseline scenario, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the details weren’t public. Zambia was paying an average of 3.9% on its Chinese bilateral loans, according to estimates by Debt Justice, a UK organization that campaigns for loan cancellation for poor nations.

The Zambian government announced the landmark deal in Paris this week under the Group of 20’s Common Framework mechanism for traditional creditors of the Paris Club to negotiate deep relief alongside new lenders, especially China. The nation must now get its private creditors to agree to comparable treatment.

It’s a major breakthrough for a process that had been mired in delays, just as the number of countries needing restructuring expanded. Zambia became Africa’s first pandemic-era sovereign defaulter in November 2020, and has been in talks with its official creditor committee for about a year.

“It was like a mission impossible,” Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema said Saturday to a cheering crowd of hundreds at the airport on his return to Zambia’s capital, Lusaka. “It wasn’t a straight line. It was zig-zag, sideways, forward, backwards, down, up. But we kept our eyes on the ball.”

While the deal doesn’t include debt cancellation, and rather pushes out maturities at much lower interest rates, people including International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva welcomed what she described as “deep debt relief.” Chinese lenders resisted writedowns, preferring to extend payment terms.

The Zambian finance ministry couldn’t immediately provide comment when asked to confirm the details. A London-based spokesperson for Lazard Freres, the government’s financial advisers, declined to comment. The Chinese embassy in Lusaka didn’t respond to requests for comment.

The deal includes a contingency for if Zambia’s economy performs better than expected, at which point creditors will get paid more. Zambia said in October it’s seeking to revamp about $12.8 billion in loans out of its total external public liabilities that grew to more than $18 billion by the end of 2022.

Other key terms of the deal, reported here for the first time, include:

  • Under the baseline scenario, the reduction to net present value of the debt equals about 40% using a 5% discount factor.
  • If Zambia is judged to be upgraded to a “medium” debt carrying capacity, interest rates rise to a maximum 4%.
  • Principal repayments are to begin in 2026, at 0.5% or about $30 million yearly, until 2035.
  • A loan for the Kafue Gorge Lower hydropower plant will be included in the restructuring, even after China requested it be ring-fenced.

While the IMF put Zambia’s bilateral debt at nearly $8 billion by the end of 2021, the government said it’s restructuring $6.3 billion in official loans. The reason for the difference is that some Chinese debt was reclassified as commercial, the people said. These loans will still get comparable treatment.
Zambia now needs to seek restructuring terms at least as favorable from its commercial creditors, including the holders of $3 billion in eurobonds that are also more than $500 million in arrears.

Hichilema in his speech on Saturday thanked French President Emmanuel Macron and Chinese President Xi Jinping. China and France co-chaired the official creditors’ committee. Zambia’s leader said in an interview on Friday that he plans to visit China within the next three months or so, in what would be his first trip there since winning power in August 2021.

HICHILEMA AND HUMAN RIGHTS
by Fred M’membe

Mr Hakainde Hichilema seems disturbed by the revelations made by his friends – the United States government – on the deplorable state of human rights practices in Zambia under his leadership.

Recently, the US State Department released a detailed report – USA 2022 Country Report on Human Rights Practices: Zambia – which brought to light the following human rights abuses committed by Mr Hichilema’s administration:

– unlawful or arbitrary killings, including extrajudicial killings
– torture and cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment by the government
– serious restrictions on freedom on freedom of expression and media, including violence and threats against journalists, censorship, or enforcement of threat to enforce criminal libel laws to limit expression
– substantial interference with the rights of freedom of assembly and association; serious government corruption
– impunity for excessive use of force by law enforcement agencies, particularly the police who have remained a problem and that;
– although the government took steps to identify, prosecute, and punish officials for corruption, impunity remained widespread.

The violations listed above are just a few among the numerous abuses highlighted by the US government. However, in a typical clumsy UPND government style, Mr Hichilema through the acting Minister of Information Mr Makozo Chikote has jumped to the defence of their illegal acts with a plethora of bare denials.

Mr Hichilema should know that this report done by their friends embodies hard facts on what is obtaining in the country today and pedestrian statements will not be sufficient to save his government from this exposure. Let it sink in that the report from the US State Department mirrors the status of our governance under Mr Hichilema’s stewardship and it is worth reiterating as follows:

1. This UPND government, through Mr Hichilema, has always projected itself as a strong adherent to the rule of law. Unless this concept means something different to them because currently there is no rule of law to talk about under this government. For instance, we have witnessed an increase in the tendency to detain suspects without charge and arraignment before the courts of law. In most cases, this is targeted at individuals that have peddled a contrary view or have been overly critical of this government. Mr Hichilema’s critics are now being abducted and assaulted.

2. A perusal of the affidavit in support of an application for bail pending trial in the case of Dr Chris Zumani Zimba, the former political advisor to Mr Edgar Lungu discloses very disturbing things. It is revealed that some of the co-accused were taken to some locations and endured excruciating torture. Most of it was inflicted on their private parts. This represents some of the findings made in the US government’s 2022 human rights practices report on Zambia. So what is Mr Hichilema through Mr Chikote denying?

3. While Mr Hichilema beats his chest about the progressive repeal of Section 69 of the Penal Code on defamation of the President, his government has found an alternative to that repealed law. Mr Hichilema’s government now seeks solace in the repressive law housed in the Cyber Security and Crimes Act. This has become a tool of repression in the hands of this government for purposes of curtailing free speech and expression. Just in the last few weeks the country has witnessed arrests and abductions of bloggers who are critical of Mr Hichilema. Surely, this is not what promotion and adherence to human rights looks like.

4. The case of the Kabushi and Kwacha by-elections remains fresh in our minds. We all saw the arm-twisting of the ECZ until Mr Bowman Lusambo and Mr Joe Malanji were handed a knock-out. The deprivation of one’s political and civil rights does not resonate with the ideals of the rule of law.

5. Mrs Josephine Mumbi Phiri endured the humiliation of a murder charge for 376 days in jail only to see the entry of a nolle prosequi on judgement day. Total irrationality! This rampant abuse of the criminal justice system for political ends has nothing to do with adherence to the rule of law.

6. Now Rizwani Patel of Petauke says he was tortured and beaten like a dog. In a video of yesterday (Friday, June 23, 2023) Patel said: “I was beaten, put on a Kampelwa, and in the night, I was taken into a bush and threatened that I will be shot dead if I didn’t confess to the charges. Bullets were fired over my head.”

What’s very sad is the hypocrisy and double standards of these people. They themselves are running Koswe, Watchdog and a horde of lawless fake accounts playing dirty with absolute impunity. They want to be the only ones playing dirty while everyone else is being forced to play clean. It won’t work. Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you.

It is very clear that Mr Hichilema has not only weaponised selected laws of the land which he is shamelessly selectively applying but also decided to handle law enforcement in a gestapo style to obliterate political rivals. Mr Hichilema, together with his hitmen, led by Deputy Inspector General of Police in-Charge of State House, Mr Fanwell Siandenge, who is working in cohorts with known UPND cadres drafted into State House security are determined to violate the law by handling law enforcement matters arbitrarily and without regard for human rights and dignity.

My advice to Zambians as we head towards 2026 is that, be prepared for the worst repression ever seen in the political history of this country because it is more than clear that we are dealing with a petty, highly vindictive, cruel and desperate regime.

He said this was to allow for informed and productive national debate.

He said the debt reschedule must help lower the living standards of people or it will be deemed ineffective.

He lamented that Government had failed to demonstrate how it had utilised savings from the suspension of debt service where the country has not paid for its debt since December 2020.

He also condemned the repeated attacks and abuse of the law by the State and Law Enforcement Agencies against members of the Opposition.

He condemned machinations being perpetrated to question the legitimacy of the election and leadership of Citizen First President, Mr.Harry Kalaba and his elected team.

And the Central Committee was informed that the Disciplinary Committee had began to handle the disciplinary cases of Mafinga MP, Hon. Robert Chabinga and Chama South MP, Hon. Davison Mung’andu and the affected MPs were responding to the process.

SPEECH BY PRESIDENT HICHILEMA AT THE AIRPORT UPON HIS ARRIVAL FROM FRANCE

SPEECH BY PRESIDENT HICHILEMA AT THE AIRPORT UPON HIS ARRIVAL FROM FRANCE.

Fellow Citizens,

Today, I stand before you as the President of Zambia, humbled and inspired by the potential that lies within our great nation.

It is with a sense of purpose and optimism that I address you on a matter of utmost importance – the debt restructuring agreement between Zambia and its official creditors. This agreement, I firmly believe, will be a game changer for Zambia, setting us on a transformative path towards sustainable development, prosperity, and economic sovereignty.

As we embark on this new chapter, let us remember the words of Nelson Mandela, who once said, “It always seems impossible until it is done.” Indeed, our journey towards debt restructuring may have appeared daunting, but through unwavering determination, collaboration, and the spirit of partnership, we have achieved what was once thought impossible.

The Official Creditors which comprise the G20 countries and China, have demonstrated their commitment to our nation’s progress. Together, we have engaged in open and constructive dialogue, resulting in a landmark agreement that will alleviate the burden of our debt and create a foundation for our economic revival. This agreement reflects the mutual respect shared among our countries, founded on the principles of transparency, fairness, and long-term sustainability.

The significance of this debt restructuring cannot be overstated. It provides us with an opportunity to chart a new course for our nation, unburdened by the weight of unsustainable debt. By reducing our debt obligations, we can redirect resources towards critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and job creation.

This, in turn, will empower our people and stimulate economic growth, fostering an environment of shared prosperity for all Zambians, and most importantly human capital development, which is the cornerstone of any 21st century nation.

Furthermore, this agreement underscores our commitment to responsible fiscal management and economic governance. We are embarking on a journey of fiscal discipline, transparency, and accountability. Through prudent financial practices, we will rebuild confidence in our economy, attract foreign investment, and unlock the potential of our natural resources. The debt restructuring is not simply a temporary fix; it is a catalyst for long-term stability and sustainable growth.

Together, we will continue redefining Zambia’s place on the global stage. With these measures we are already moving towards a nation that is economically independent, socially inclusive, and environmentally sustainable. Our young people will be at the forefront of this transformative journey, equipped with the skills and knowledge to shape Zambia’s future.

In conclusion, I would like to thank the Co-Chairs of the Official Creditors Committee (OCC), France and China, the Vice Chair, South Africa and all the members of the committee for their tireless efforts to ensure that Zambia’s debt issues is resolved and set the benchmark for debt resolution under the Common Debt Treatment Framework beyond DSSI. We can now get to work. Let’s do this fellow Zambians!

Thank you, and may God bless our Republic.

CROWDS GIVE PRESIDENT HICHILEMA WARM WELCOME AS HE ARRIVES BACK HOME FROM PARIS

By Tellah Hazinji and Leah Ngoma

President Hakainde Hichilema says Zambia should celebrate the restructuring of the $6bn debt because the country will now be able to redirect its resources to growing the economy and job creation.

Addressing crowds who welcomed him at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport upon arrival from Paris, France this morning, President Hichilema says the debt restructuring has been made possible because of his government’s commitment to growing the economy.

President Hichilema says his government’s actions are intended to resolve issues that stand in the way of growing Zambia’s economy.

The Head of State says part of the actions required the government to make decisions that made Zambians less comfortable in order to achieve the right goal but that deliberate moves such as increased Constituency Development Fund-CDF, free education and reintroducing of meal allowances for students were put in place to alleviate some of the pain people have been subjected to.

And President Hichilema has commended his France counterpart Emmanuel macron for involving Zambia in the global financial system and that he is hopeful that African countries will get a fair deal in accessing capital at reasonable costs.

Meanwhile, the Advocates for National Development and Democracy-ANDD- has observed that the debt restructuring agreement will help boost investor confidence and attract more investment into the country.

Organization Executive Director Samuel Banda has however called on government to avail the terms and conditions of the debt restructure agreement to enable stakeholders to adequately advise government the issue.

And Operation Young Vote Executive Director Guess Nyirenda has also commended the new dawn government for reaching an agreement on a comprehensive debt treatment with the country`s official creditors and has since urged government to ensure it plans correctly and deploy resources for the rightful cause in all circumstances.

Zambia has reached an agreement on a comprehensive debt treatment with its official creditors under the G20 common framework which is believed to be a significant step towards restoring Zambia’s long term debt sustainability.

Debt Restructuring Was Not By Chance, It Was Difficult, Mission Impossible But We Remained Focused And Today We Are Celebrating – HH

0

HUNDREDS of Zambians from all walks of life gathered this morning at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport to greet Republican President Hakainde Hichilema and accord him a heroic welcome for his efforts to have Zambia’s 6.3 billion USD dollar debt restructured.

The airport, which was masked by dance troops representing Ngoni warriors, Bemba dancers, Makishi, Soli, and so on and so forth, drove a frenzy of gratitude to President Hichilema as he has managed to push Zambia forward into the ‘League of Nations.’

Upon his arrival, his cabinet applauded him and issued a single message: ‘Doubting Thomas’ have been put to shame.’

Meanwhile, addressing the crowds after what he termed as a difficult mission, President Hichilema compared the debt in which his administration had found the country to be a python that was squeezing the life out of Zambia.

President Hichilema stated that while not being the ones who coordinated the reckless borrowing that lead Zambia into a massive debt, his administration did not turn a blind eye and promptly sought a solution.

“We knew that the change we were voted on included restructuring the economy, reforms and something was standing in our way. Something that was behaving like a python conscripting us in the neck, conscripting us in the ribs and tying our legs together and we could not move as we wanted, that was the debt mountain. We promised that we will work very quickly to restructure the debt and today we return home, two days ago that was done in Paris and we had to be present to make sure that is done and done properly,” President Hichilema said.

“This was not easy, debt restructuring of a mountain proportion, humongous debt. The debt was borrowed recklessly, a liability was acquired, there was no asset to the other side, the economy went down, and we all know what happened to that money. But we did not say we know nothing about it, we had to do something about it. Although it was orchestrated by others who I am told went on social media a day ago to demean what was achieved,” he said.

The Head of State admitted that obtaining the 6.3 billion dollar debt restructure was no small feat, nor was it simple.

“It was not easy, it was difficult I must confess. Many of you did not understand this fellow for a very long time and I saw it from the names I was called, the things that were said about us and I said ‘wow one day they will know us and they will know us properly.’ Our actions are intentional they are not by chance. They are intentional to resolve things that stand in our way so that we can run the economy and better the lives of those students,” he said.

President Hichilema questioned the boldness of Patriotic Front supporters and bloggers to disparage the debt restructuring, stressing that they lacked the capacity to do what his administration had.

“Now why didn’t they do it themselves? First why did they take us into debt? And when they realized they had taken us in the wrong direction why didn’t they change direction? Why didn’t they clean the mess? The truth is that they had no capacity, that’s the truth. Anyway I want to be polite it’s a happy day today, let me remain polite,” he said.

He reminded the crowd that he would continue to walk the talk.

“When we were still in opposition we made commitments to the people of Zambia, we offered to the people of Zambia our vision and what we intended to do for this country. We explained over and over, our competitors said ‘uyu HH alitemwa ifya ku landa landa, ifyo alelanda bufi teti akwanishe’ (HH likes talking, what he speaks are lies and he cannot manage),” President Hichilema boasted.

“We said we would offer free education and we have done it. Someone took away meal allowances and we said we will restore meal allowances. How can our children be in class attentively if they are hungry? We said it, so we delivered. Walking the talk! We said people die before they receive their benefits… and we said partial withdraw, ‘ka NAPSA kanangena!’ Against all odds in a very difficult financial environment.”

Zambia’s 6.3 billion USD dollar debt to China and other Western nations has been restructured by the UPND government. Zambia’s debt restructuring feat has earned widespread praise, including an ovation from International Monetary Fund Chief Kristalina Georgieva.

“Today we will talk about Zambia, which I think is a great case of celebration….” Georgieva said at a roundtable discussion.

Husband accused of ‘dr*gging his wife and rec0rding at least 83 men r3ping her

0

A French man has been accused of dr*gging his wife and recording at least 83 ‘aggressors’ raping her in a horrific abuse spanning ten years.

The man, ‘Dominique P’ is said to have recruited his wife’s attackers from an online forum called ‘Without Her Knowing,’ where users discuss performing sex acts on unwitting partners and storing evidence on a USB drive in a file called ‘ABUSES’.

Fifty-one men, aged 26 to 73, have been identified and charged with raping his wife of 50 years, pseudonym Françoise, with investigators finding 92 cases between 2011 and 2020, according to Mail Online.

The husband is alleged to have used the drug Lorazepam to sedate his wife by mixing it into her meal, before inviting men to have sex with her while she was unconscious at their home in Mazan, near Avignon.

Investigators learned of the horror after arresting Dominique in 2020 for filming up the skirts of customers in a supermarket in nearby Carpentras, with a search of his Provence home uncovering camera equipment and ‘dozens of videos’ of his wife’s abuse.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Dominique used an internet forum called ‘à son insu’ (‘without him/her knowing’) to organise the abuse of his wife while she was sleeping.

Investigators have identified 92 cases of rape of Françoise, drawing up a list of 83 ‘aggressors’ – but have yet to identify all of the alleged assailants.

Those charged include a fireman, a municipal councillor, a prison guard, a nurse and a journalist.

In 2021, it was reported a total of 33 had so far been jailed, with nine under arrest.

Louis-Alain Lemaire, a lawyer for some of the suspects, claimed at the time that some believed the wife was ‘simulating’ being unconscious as part of a sex game.

Detectives argued the suspects must have known the woman was drugged, because the husband claims to have briefed them before each episode of abuse.

The alleged assaults occurred between 2011 and 2020, with the prosecution claiming that Dominique insists none of the attackers ‘gave up going through with sexual acts on his wife given her state’.

They say Dominique ‘never used violence or threats’ to ensure the rapes took place, adding: ‘Each individual was in possession of his free will to stop these acts and leave.’

Some of the rapists are understood to have come to the home multiple times. Many allege they were unaware that Françoise had not consented to the encounters.

‘Guests’ were allegedly asked to park away from the house and to avoid bringing strong smells into the house, such as tobacco or perfume, that could wake her.

One, denying rape, reportedly said: ‘It’s his wife, he does what he likes with her.’

Police learned of the videos during a preliminary investigation into Dominique in 2020 after he was suspected of using a hidden camera to film women getting changed in a supermarket.

A trial is expected to take place next year.

Zanu PF Infiltrates Chamisa Camp, Causes Confusion

0

The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party has accused ZANU PF of confusing by fielding double and sometimes triple nominations across the country.

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere alleged that ZANU PF forged signatures on nomination papers to cause chaos after it failed to penetrate the party’s systems.

During a press conference in the capital on Thursday, Mahere said they discovered double nominations in 20 provinces and reported the matter to the police. The CCC has also filed an appeal with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), objecting to people whose names appear as CCC candidates but were not signed for by the party. Mahere said they have sufficient evidence of fraud and would be going to court. She said:

ZANU PF failed to penetrate our systems and what did they do, they went and forged our signatures and created 20 odd double candidates that you see across the country for National Assembly and a number of them in wards across the country.

We have filed objections in terms of the Electoral Act to people whose names appear as our candidates and were not signed for by us. The second issue is (that) criminal reports have been made to the police in Masvingo and other constituencies because this is a fraud, it’s criminal.

In some cases, we have a candidate who says well my money was paid and papers filed but not by me, I don’t know who filed these, there is someone clearly behind that

Meanwhile, ZANU PF has distanced itself from the chaos and said it was satisfied with its own nomination process and expecting victory in the August 23 polls.

Former Information Minister, Jonathan Moyo, responded to accusations that ZANU PF was responsible for the CCC’s double nominations. The Political Science Professor argued that the CCC was criminalizing politics and that the fact that the double nominations involved CCC members who participated in the party’s opaque candidate selection process indicated a lack of internal structures and processes to deal with its own members. Moyo criticised the CCC for abusing the criminal justice system and urged the party to develop a constitution and structures to manage its internal politics. He said:

CCC CRIMINALISING POLITICS The fact that Triple C’s triple and double candidate nominations actually involve individuals who are its “members” and who as such participated in its opaque candidate selection process – and some who won in that process which used the archaic but visible ‘Bereka Mwana’ method – means that CCC should ‘cry foul’ to and about those individuals, meaning its “members”, and no one else. Those individuals who in Triple C’s triple or double nomination saga are supposed to be CCC members. The fact that CCC is crying foul, point fingers to outsides like ZanuPF and FAZ clearly means CCC does not have structures and processes to deal with its errant or wayward members. So, CCC is now turning what is political into ‘criminal’ conduct, alleging “fraud” against its “members” and whomever is alleged to have connived with them, hoping to get @PoliceZimbabwe to help it manage its structureless internal politics. But this is absurd. As a political party, CCC is abusing the criminal justice system simply and only because it has no structures to deal with its alleged ‘members’, who were so wayward as to register themselves as Triple C’s triple or double candidates. CCC should stop criminalising politics and come to terms with the consequences of not having a constitution and not having structures based on that constitution!

Zimbabwe goes to the polls on 23 August to elect a new president, members of Parliament (MPs), Senators and Councillors.

Mnangagwa Unleashes Police On Kasukuwere

The Zimbabwe Republic Police said they would arrest former Cabinet Minister Saviour Kasukuwere once he sets foot in Zimbabwe.

The police said they would arrest Kasukuwere under two arrest warrants hanging over his head, issued way before he expressed his intentions to contest for the presidency.

Kasukuwere is among 11 candidates that successfully filed their nomination papers to contest the presidential elections on August 23.

He will stand as an independent candidate.
In interviews with the South African media where he is based, Kasukuwere sought to paint a picture of persecution by the Zimbabwe Government and alleged that he feared arrest on political grounds once he lands in the country to campaign ahead of elections.
However, The Herald can reveal that a warrant of arrest was issued on January 18, 2019 by retired Harare magistrate Mr Hosea Mujaya after the former Cabinet minister and key G40 figure in the late President Robert Mugabe’s Government, failed to appear for trial on four counts of criminal abuse of office.

Another was issued after Kasukuwere failed to resubmit his passport to the clerk of court during the agreed period.
The disgraced former Cabinet minister has been making feeble attempts to play the persecution card as he has been portraying his charges as politically motivated, but the fact of the matter is that he was issued with warrants of arrest after he skipped court proceedings and after he proved untrustworthy.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told The Herald last night that police were in possession of two warrants which had not been cancelled.

“We have two warrants of arrest that have not been cancelled yet. The first warrant was issued by magistrate Mujaya on January 18 2019 where he was facing criminal law charges under Section 174 (b) (a) of the criminal law code because he defaulted court under number CRB HarareR842/18.

“The second warrant is under 39/18, he was given his passport but failed to submit it back within the stipulated period so the police should execute these warrants they are currently in possession of and so far there are no indications that they have been cancelled,” he said.
In a separate interview, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Permanent Secretary Virginia Mabhiza said Kasukuwere should submit himself before the laws of Zimbabwe.

“When someone is issued with a warrant of arrest, they should submit before the law. What he should do is submit himself before the law and seek cancellation of the warrants. He has his lawyers, so they should advise him on what he should do. His submission to the law is standard procedure,” she said.
