Meek Mill is speaking out in the wake of Ye’s “White Lives Matter” controversy.
Following criticism from Diddy and Boosie Badazz, the Philly rapper is the latest to take Ye to task. In a post on his Instagram Story, Meek said he can no longer sit back and watch Ye go against his own.
“I used to listen to ye every night and jail for motivation on god!” he began. “And came home and watched him shit on my name and brand like nothing… I ain’t say nothing … but I been knew you was on that nerd tryna shit on street Ni**as you just said it to boosie…”
He shared a clip from a 2019 interview Ye did with Big Boy where he seemingly criticized Meek. “The culture has you focused so much on fu**ing somebody bitch and pulling up in a foreign and rapping about things that could get you locked up and then saying you about prison reform,” Ye said, a possible reference to Meek’s REFORM Alliance.
Meek continued to blast Ye for his antics. “It hurts my heart to even know some of y’all this crazy and lame… ion need no verses from no ni**as because I been hot since 13.”
He added, “@justinlaboy don’t invite me to none of them weird ass parties wit bro … I go off person not fame for money…Speaking from a nia that been buying support ye since he came out .. but what you be doing for fame driving you crazy … look how hard you came at me nias know I’m vocal it’s like you hate your own people.”
He also cited Ye’s lack of support for Vory, who appeared on DONDA. “You ain’t even post @vory album after all that work he did for you and he look up to you,” Meek said while questioning Ye’s public support for Jack Harlow.
“You made sure you said Jack Harlow was the hottest in Kentucky overlooked EST [Gee] and Vory,” added Meek.
It’s been a drama-filled week for Ye. After debuting his controversial “White Lives Matter” shirt during his Yeezy Season 9 show at Paris Fashion Week, he faced backlash from his peers including Diddy, Jaden Smith, and Boosie Badazz.
Ye didn’t take kindly to the criticism and fired back, unleashing on both Diddy and Boosie. “Never call me with no bullshit like that again unless you ready to green light me. Cause anybody who got on that tee is me,” he told Puff while taunting Boosie: “COME SMACK ME OR COME SHOOT ME IM THE ONE THAT GOT BULLIED BY THE ENTIRE BLACK CELEBRITY COMMUNITY NOW IM BACK TO SHOOT THE SCHOOL UP.”

Zambia has come to the rescue of Zimbabwe with 200 000 tonnes (t) of maize to feed millions currently facing hunger in the country, NewsDay has gathered.
Plans by Zimbabwe to import 200 000 tonnes of maize from Malawi in May did not bear fruit after the deal was contested by the Malawi Parliament in Lilongwe because tender procedures had reportedly been flouted.
Zambia’s Consumer Association confirmed the maize deal to NewsDay.
“According to the information, it’s more like a controlled export because we have some companies which have memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Congolese and Zimbabwean companies in order to fulfil the MoUs,” the Zambian consumer body said in response to questions from NewsDay.
Insiders close to millers and the Zimbabwean government say there have been hurdles around importation of Malawian and Zambian maize.
“The Malawi delivery is proving to be a problem, but the Zambian one will soon be here because all permits have now been finalised,” a source close to developments told NewsDay.
A high-ranking official at the Grain Marketing Board said: “This maize is being imported by the Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ).”
Contacted for comment, Lands and Agriculture ministry secretary John Basera said: “This maize is certainly not being imported by the government; it has to be private players.”
He said Zimbabwe had enough grain.
“We have 1,5 million tonnes of maize from harvest this year plus 300 000t in small grain, then 500 000t carryover stock from last year that puts us at 2,3 million tonnes of grain versus our demand of 2,2 million tonnes,” Basera said.
He said millers who failed to fund 40% of their local requirements locally were importing grain from neighbouring countries.
Efforts to get an official comment from GMAZ president Tafadzwa Musarara were fruitless.
Despite gobbling billions in various agriculture handouts and subsidy schemes, like the Presidential Inputs Scheme, Pfumvudza and the Command Agriculture Programme, Zimbabwe remains food insecure with 5,4 million (36%) of its citizens facing hunger in the current season, according to the World Food Programme.
Zambian social media influencer and politician with the ruling United Party for National Development Joseph Kalibwe last Monday tweeted: “… tonnes of our Zambian maize will be received by our friends, the Command Agriculture publicity proponents on Thursday. Congratulations to our farmers who keep Zambia fed, exporting the rest to other lands and bringing the export money home for further growth.”
WHILE it is unclear whether Sampa The Great will appear on the full soundtrack to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, a sequel to 2018’s Black Panther, it has been difficult not to celebrate her latest feat.
It is her latest feat because the Zambian rapper has proven to be something of a phenomenal success on the international scene. Her latest feat sees a track from her new album soundtracking the first official trailer for the new Ryan Coogler-directed movie that will arrive in cinemas next month.
The track, titled Never Forget, features Chef 187, who raps in Bemba, her younger sister Mwanje and Tio Nason. It was the second single from Sampa’s latest album, As Above, So Below, has the input of Mag44 as the producer.
But more about that later. The story here is Never Forget soundtracking the first official trailer for the upcoming Marvel Studio’s film. You cannot help but marvel. President Hakainde Hichilema knows the feeling.
“How amazing to hear our very own Sampa The Great, Chef 187, Tio Nason and Mwanjé on the Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer,” he posted online yesterday. “We are so proud of you.” The trailer includes snippets of scenes featuring actors Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright and Danai Gurira. All the scenes are soundtracked by Never Forget, which is no ordinary song if you have followed the Zambian scene.
The song, a sonic homecoming with a message about carrying on African legacies, seeks to honour Zamrock, which is experiencing a renaissance through Emmanuel ‘Jagari’ Chanda, who fronted the Witch, the most popular band of the 1970s. Sampa knows what she is onto. She also knows that soundtracking Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is epic. As she herself put it, this is from someone who is yet to chart on Billboard, has no viral video, no sold-out arena tour and is an independent artist. “This is how God works,” she said. The soundtrack to the original Black Panther was produced by Kendrick Lamar and gave rise to the hits All the Stars featuring SZA and Pray For Me on which the Weeknd featured.
In July, a three-track EP titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Prologue was released, featuring contributions from Tems, Amaarae and Santa Fe Klan, along with Ludwig Göransson, who has returned to compose the music for the new film. Sampa was born in Zambia but grew up in Botswana although she built her career in Australia. Her 2017 mixtape, Birds and the BEE9, won the Australian Music Prize and gave way to her debut album, The Return, released in 2019, which earned her three ARIA Music Awards, including Best Female Artist and Best Hip-Hop Release. If you like, you can consider the ARIA Music Awards as the equivalent of Grammys in Australia.- Zambia Daily Mail
After going at Hailey Bieber, Gigi Hadid, and Vogue‘s Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Kanye West has a new target–Diddy.
During his appearance on “The Breakfast Club” on Wednesday, Diddy weighed in on Ye’s controversial “White Lives Matter” shirt.
“Kanye my boy is a super, super free thinker and a lot of times what he means is misconstrued,” Puff said. “We don’t have to condemn Kanye or cancel him. But at the same time, you gotta understand your actions.”
He later clarified that he did not support Ye’s messaging. “I will always support my brother Kanye as a free thinker. But the White Lives Matter T-shirt, I don’t rock with it. I’m not with it.”
But Ye, who presented Diddy with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards in June, apparently felt betrayed. He shared a series of text messages in which he called out Puff for refusing to get behind him.
“I didn’t like our convo. I’m selling these tees. Nobody gets in between me and my money,” he wrote. “Never call me with no bullshit like that again unless you ready to green light me. Cause anybody who got on that tee is me. Out of respect for everything you’ve meant to me I’ll be quiet as Virgil. But now I know how I’ve hurt people I love with threats.”
Ye even taunted Diddy, writing, “Come do something illegal to me noooow pleeeeeeeeease.”
Diddy said he wanted to meet with Ye once he landed, prompting Ye to respond with a defiant message. “NI**A FUUUUUK YOU. YOU FED,” he told Puff, who told him to send his address and “stop playing these internet games.”
“This ain’t a game,” Ye added. “Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me. I told you this was war. Now gone get you some business.”
Puff tried to reason with him, writing, “I’m just trying to talk to you as a black man. And I’m talking to you because this is hurting our people. Stop.”
But Ye wasn’t having it. “Anything you text I will post. I love you. And you guys are breaking my heart. I accept your apology in advance.”
Ye also took aim at Boosie Badazz after he called him out. “DON’T SPEAK ON ME LIL BOOSIE SPEAK TO ME,” Ye wrote. “YEAH LITTLE NERD ASS ME COME SMACK ME OR COME SHOOT ME IM THE ONE THAT GOT BULLIED BY THE ENTIRE BLACK CELEBRITY COMMUNITY NOW IM BACK TO SHOOT THE SCHOOL UP.”
On Thursday night, Kanye sat down with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson for an interview in which he addressed the controversy.
“The answer to why I wrote ‘White Lives Matter’ on a shirt is because they do,” West said while recalling a conversation he had with his father. “I said, ‘I thought the shirt was a funny shirt; I thought the idea of me wearing it was funny.’”
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Russian government officials have begun to “prepare their society” for the possible use of nuclear weapons, saying the world must act now even though he doesn’t believe that Russia is ready to use them now.
In recent weeks, the Ukrainian army has recaptured large swathes of territory in a successful counter-offensive that has forced Russian troops to abandon long-held positions. In what Kyiv describes as Moscow’s response to its defeats, President Vladimir Putin has incorporated four partially occupied regions of Ukraine.
The annexations, widely dismissed as illegal, have raised fears of a possible escalation in the seven-month war. President Putin and other senior Russian officials have suggested that nuclear weapons – possibly smaller, tactical weapons – could be used to defend those areas, although Western officials say there has been no evidence Moscow is prepared to do so.
Russians are being prepared for Nuclear war, world must act now – Zelensky
Zelensky denied calling for military strikes on Russia, to prevent them using weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine, claiming that an earlier interview he granted had been mistranslated.
“You must use preventive kicks,” he said, referring to sanctions, “not attacks”.
Speaking in English at the president’s office in Kyiv, President Zelensky said to BBC: “They begin to prepare their society. That’s very dangerous.
“They are not ready to do it, to use it. But they begin to communicate. They don’t know whether they’ll use or not use it. I think it’s dangerous to even speak about it.”
Then, in Ukrainian, he said through a translator: “What we see is that Russia’s people in power like life and thus I think the risk of using nuclear weapons is not that definite as some experts say, because they understand that there is no turning back after using it, not only the history of their country, but themselves as personalities.”
The initial comment by Zelensky was denounced by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as “an appeal to start yet another world war”, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said it demonstrated why Russia was right to launch its operation in Ukraine.
“After that translation,” President Zelensky said, “they [the Russians] did their way, how it’s useful for them, and began to retranslate it in other directions.”
President Zelensky said action was needed now, as Russia’s threats were a “risk for the whole planet”. Moscow, he claimed, had “made a step already” by occupying the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Europe’s largest nuclear station which President Putin is trying to turn into Russian property.
Around 500 Russian troops were at the plant, he said, although the Ukrainian staff still operate it.
“The world can stop urgently the actions of Russian occupiers,” President Zelensky said. “The world can implement the sanction package in such cases and do everything to make them leave the nuclear power plant.”
President Zelensky said Russian forces were putting up a “good enough fight”, but that Ukraine had received weapons – “I won’t say we have enough now” – and soldiers were motivated to push forward.
Amid the losses, President Putin announced the mobilisation of hundreds of thousands of reservists, which led to rare anti-war protests in Russia and to a huge exodus of military-age men.
Zelensky urged Russians to “fight for your body, rights and soul”, saying: “These mobilised kids now, they come without machine guns, armoured jackets, they are just cannon fodder…. If they don’t want to be kebab… they need to fight [for their lives].
“All Putin is afraid of is not a nuclear strike,” he said. “He’s afraid of his society, of his people.
“Because only these people can replace him, strip him of his power and give it to another person.”
Following news of one of Botswana’s favourite couple’s divorce, Odirile ‘Vee Mampeezy’ Sento has accused his wife Kagiso Sento of binge drinking and infidelity.
In his affidavit, the Kwaito Kwasa sensation tells the court that he has been staying in hotels and friends homes for some time.
The two have been married to his since 2014 in community of property. However in March 2022, the two filed to vary marital regime to that of out of community property.
Vee Mampeezy tells the court he vehemently believes his wife was cheating on him. “The plaintiff has solid suspicion of the defendant’s infidelity. The above behavior has killed all the love and trust that the plaintiff has for the defendant and it accordingly has killed the parties marriage.”
The Taku taku hitmaker further accuses Kagiso of drinking too much alcohol and physically abusing him.
“The defendant has a habit of excessively consuming intoxicating substances, thereby affecting the lives of the parties, which usually ends with disagreements and assaults by the defendant and police officers are called to de-escalate the situation.”
“For the past years, the plaintiff (Vee Mampeezy) would be flee the matrimonial home seeking residence from friends homes and hotels, and then return to the parties matrimonial home when the parties had reconciled,” reads Vee Mampeezy’s declaration in part.
The celebrity couple have between them two minor children, whom Vee Mampeezy pleads with the court that their guardianship should be given to his parents. “It would be in the best interest of the minor children that custody be awarded to the plaintiff’s parents.
The plaintiff’s parents have been the minor children’s primary caretakers of the firstborn since 2008 and the second born since 2020.”
Vee Mampeezy continues to reveal that the children have not been living with the couple due to the toxicity of their relationship.
“The marriage between the plaintiff and the defendant has broken down irretrievably on account of the defendants unreasonable behavior.
“This unreasonable behaviour has made it unbearable for the plaintiff to continue living with the defendant. Moreover, the plaintiff cannot be reasonably expected to continue living with the defendant.”
ECZ MUST HOLD FRESH NOMINATIONS AND CONDUCT KABUSHI AND KWACHA BY-ELECTIONS BEFORE 2ND NOVEMBER, 2022. SAMUEL BANDA
Zambia is about to run into a constitutional crisis with ECZ failing to conduct by-elections in both Kwacha and Kabushi Constituency within 90 days provided by the Constitution, Advocates For National Democracy and Develoment (ANDD) has observed.
ANDD Executive Director Samuel Banda notes that this is where the vigilance of our Courts must always come in.
“The Court can emulate their South African counterparts in not waiting for the violation to take place before they can come in” Mr Banda has said.
He said the unpredictability of holding elections has now been surrounded by the resignation of candidates in Kabushi and Kwacha which the Electoral Commission of Zambia accepted and now the alleged retractions of resignations.
“Luckily, the issue of constitutional resignation and retraction was already determined by the Constitutional Court, and there is a fixed principle on this matter. It is not about facts being the same with precedents but the principle” he said.
“In actual sense, the rescinding of resignations has no legal effect based on the principle the Constitutional Court has already set when it comes to constitutional resignations” Mr Banda has further said.
He said Zambia should take a leaf from how South Africa enforce the 90-day period for holding elections as required by the Constitution.
In 2021, the Electoral Commission of South Africa applied for an order postponing the holding of Local Government Elections which section 159(2) of the Constitution required to hold within 90 days at the expiry of the terms of the existing municipal councils.
The Commission argued that, due to the pandemic, it was unable to organise a constitutionally compliant local government election.
The Commission submitted that it was impossible, due to the risks associated with the pandemic, to meet the demands that have been set by the Constitution, namely:
that the elections must be held within 90 days of the expiry of the terms of the existing municipal councils,
that the elections must be free and fair,
that the election must respect, protect, promote and fulfil the rights of the voters to life, bodily integrity and access to healthcare.
The Commission asked the Court for an order to the effect that it could hold the local government election then scheduled for 27 October 2021 in February 2022.
It also sought an alternative remedy: an order declaring that its failure to hold the local government elections on 27 October 2021 was unconstitutional and a suspension of that declaration of invalidity to allow it until 23 February 2022 to correct the constitutional defect.
The ANC suggested that the election should be postponed until April 2022. The IFP asked that the election should be postponed to 26 May 2022. Their submissions are premised on the anticipated fourth wave of the pandemic and time constraints.
The DA, F4SD and OSAM opposed the application on the basis that this Court has no power to postpone the elections because it would amount to a constitutional amendment and that the power to do so is exclusively held by Parliament.
The majority judgment of the Court delivered on 3rd September, 2021 held that the Commission’s constitutional duty in the circumstances of this case was to conduct the elections within the 90-day period, making them as free and fair as circumstances reasonably permitted, and that our courts do not, save in rare and exceptional circumstances, have the power to relieve the Commission of this duty.
The Court also said that a challenge to the freeness and fairness of the elections must take place after the elections have been held, with reference to events as they actually unfolded.
Woman Marries Two Men, Shares Same Bed With Both Husbands
A Congolese woman has left social media users tongue tied after revealing that she is married to two men and are living in the same house with their children.
Francine Jisele lives with her first husband Remi Murula and her second one Albert Jarlace under the same roof in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Woman Marries Two Men Congolese Woman Marries Two Men (Cred: Afrimax) Circumstances leading to this polyandric setup arose when Jisele’s first husband Remi left and disappeared for three good years.
“Just because life was not easy, the man went on a trip and never came back. I found myself alone out here, I spent three years and a half in a single life without my husband,” she told Afrimax in an interview.
“After those years I lost him I fell in love with this other man. After one year with the second husband, the first one came back,” she revealed.
Jisele hadn’t expected her husband to come back after being away for all those years.
“I met this woman when I was working in the mining industry and she told me that she had another husband and how that man left her saying that he was going to find a life,” explained Albert Jarlace.
“I felt I had no choice because we were already together since I had lived with her not knowing she had another man,” he added.
When Murula came back he fought Jarlace arguing that Jisele was his woman.
“The woman asked me not to leave her. So I felt that it was necessary to stay with her and for now we have one child together,” said Jarlace.
“Tuko watatu ( there are two men here and here) . We get along well, this woman is our wife. Since I left I didn’t talk to my wife once. When I came back I found my wife with another man,” added Murula.
Murula had initially asked his partner to go but Jarlace insisted he had nowhere else to go.
“At first I threw a tantrum but I realized if had talked to my wife she wouldn’t have done anything like that. I had no place to go and I was at fault,” he said.
We eat at the same table, sleep in the same bedroom and on the same bed. I love them both. We live at peace at home,” said Jisele.
The men share the work and bring home the bacon while the lady respects both of them. The concern they have is not being able to tell the children apart.
When it comes to intimate moments, one of us leaves the other to enjoy. The woman is the one who identifies who the father of the children is.
“My family knows my situation and advised me to calm down because I abandoned my wife,” said Murula.
Jisele says it’s hard for her; she wishes each man had a home and she would go to them. She doesn’t want the three of them to keep meeting in the same bedroom at the same time.

ROBBIE APOLOGIZES
So Robbie who is one of the girls rescuers sent me a text this morning apologizing for having sent me a text last night to ‘halt’ our attempts to appreciate him.
I then realised that he has been captured by some selfish people only thinking about themselves and not him and other two boys that helped him to rescue the girls.
I have since done my own research and established the following;
1) Robbie’s biological mother died when he was 3 years old.
2) one auntie who does not stay with Robbie was against him doing an interview with Diamond TV and Boba TV2. Apparently her son was also present at the rescue area but for some reason not being noted so.
This one auntie amongst many is also looking at me as ‘a PF member ‘ and not as a citizen keen on ubuntu projects and heroes appreciation. She may may have ordered the boy to text me to stop raising funds for him as he was busting her at the time. She even sent me a rude voice note using Robbie’s phone.
3) There are some Civil servants that been reaching out to this auntie to tell Robbie “not to accept Ubuntu gestures from Miles Sampa”. Since I am in a good mood today, I shall not ‘Name & Shame’ them.
My message to the auntie and the civil servants trying to capture Robbie away from our Ubuntu projects is that helping the vulnerable and rewarding heroes is not a game of competition but complementing each other. Not all topic are not for politics but humane and Christianity calling.
Please feel free to help Robbie as you please and our deeds should not hinder you in any way. As for the auntie, please show Robbie love and in the same you may have been doing it since his mother died when a baby. If he happens to jumpstart his career and life to another level from our deeds, it’s not us but him, your son and yourselves that will benefit ultimately.
As for Robbie and since you were a man enough to appologies, I forgive you.
I will therefore continue to raise funds for you until end of next week. A gentle reminder that you are 21 years old. You are now a man and adult. Meantime please get me phone numbers of the other two boys that assisted you in the rescue operation.
To the auntie that lives with Robbie, thank you for encouraging texts not to give up in our Ubuntu gesture towards Robbie.
We are still compiling funds thus far but may I mention that Hon Lilian Mutambo from the UK made contact today and has pledged K10,000 towards the Appreciation fund for Robbie.
Our Robbie funds contribution numbers are 0964007007 and 0973516192. Please play your part if willing so as to encourage all other youths to be vigilant against crime and support or partner voluntarily with the noble works of the ZP.
RESCINDING RESIGNATION & WITHDRAWAL BY THE DUO IN KABUSHI & KWACHA: MUST BE LEGAL & ELECTORAL RELIEF TO ECZ
Today, the country is greeted with new developments that the duo, Yobwe and Kasonde, candidates for Kabushi and Kwacha, who earlier announced their resignations from participating in the Kabushi and Kwacha parliamentary by-elections have rescinded their decisions.
Their decision provoked a court action from stakeholders to move the court to interprete Art 52(6).
With the new developments, this means that the court case on the interpretation of Art 52(6) cannot be pursued any further until further NOTICE.
Following the duo’s resignations, the Electoral commission of Zambia (ECZ) never cancelled the election as per Art 52(6) and the decision of the duo to RESCIND their earlier decision to resign after being duly nominated does not affect the nominations done on August 25 including the by-elections thereof.
The nominations are valid and intact awaiting for a new by-election date from ECZ since ECZ never accepted or denied their resignations and withdrawals.
With the COURT OF APPEAL staying the decision of the HIGH COURT to suspend the by-elections, the by-elections are expected to proceed as per nominated list of candidates.
Actually, this means that the HIGH COURT decision to suspend the holding of the by-elections which was suspended by the COURT OF APPEAL which set Oct 20 to hear the main matter is considered intac therefore, there seem to be no longer a blockade on ECZ to hold the by-elections, in my view.
The argument that a resignation or withdrawal from race cant be withdrawn is not true.
This is a mix up with the court decision on whether or not an elected person esp Councilor can withdraw a resignation or withdrawal submitted before the ECZ, which matter was clarified by the CONCOURT.
It does not affect the withdrawals and resignation ocassioned by a duly nominated candidate to ECZ after nominations.
We await new developments as the week dies and a new one rises on Sunday.
A top Tanzanian football official, Haji Sunday Manara, has gifted his wife, Rubyana, a brand new car as consolation after he married a second wife.
The spokesperson of the Tanzanian Premier League side, Yanga Sports Club, married his second wife, Rusha in April, 2022.
According to Manara, he bought the car for Rubyana, to wipe away her tears as his decision to marry another wife was very painful for her.
“It’s not normal for me to gift someone in public. We have a culture that we inherited from our great-grandfathers; when you marry a new wife, the culture of the Dar es Salaam people dictates that you should give the first wife something to wipe her tears away. The culture dictates that she is given something in front of her family and her friends. When you look at my first and second weddings they featured prominently online and that is why I thought to gift her here,” said Haji
Manara went on to say that his new marriage was difficult for his first wife but she is a Muslim woman who is obligated to adhere to the teachings of Islam.
“I thought of buying my wife a car …it’s not very expensive but I gave her after seeing that she had desired it while on the road,” said Manara
“I do this to ensure that my women are happy just like I am. Marrying another wife when you have a wife is very painful. We do not do this to hurt them but we do so for biological and physical reasons,”
On her part, his wife, Rubyana said she was happy about the new gift.
“As the first wife and leader, I am not only welcoming her but also the two others on the way. I am very happy my husband,” she said.
Meanwhile, taking to Instagram on Friday, October 7,2022, Manara shared photos of himself with his wives.
“If you hear a debate stop me, this is it now. And now I have changed my number, hahaha why joy!!. When God blesses you with such good wives, what else do you need other than to continue thanking and worshiping him? I feel like a king between two queens, and by the power of God I pray that they die for me these creatures, so that I meet them in heaven Insha’Allah. Nb; Two are enough so what purpose are the others?”
WATCH| ‘Being A Slay Queen Is A Calling From God’ – Zimbabwean Prophet Passion Java Leaves Followers Dumbfounded
Controversial Zimbabwean prophet and social enthusiast Passion Java has sparked controversy after declaring that being a slay queen is a calling from God.
While most preachers are known for speaking against adultery and homewreckers, Passion Java took an unconventional approach to the issue leaving his followers dumbfounded.
In a video posted on Facebook, Passion Java warned people against criticising slay queens saying they are necessary especially for men with insatiable appetites.
Java said:
I am here to impart important teaching. There are people who look down on ladies known as slay queens. Let me tell you one thing; Of course, s_ex drive differs from one person to the other. Others want to have it ten times a day so one wife will not be enough. That’s why King Solomon had 1000 wives in the Bible, Jacob had 2 wives and 3 maids, and Abraham had two wives to satisfy their matrimonial needs. There are others who had one wife each and there is Paul who did not have a wife. People are different…
Passion Java goes on to say that being a slay queen is a calling from God and they are the reason why some marriages have not collapsed.
Java said:
But I want to tell you this, being a slay queen is a calling from God. Do you know that if there were no slay queens most marriages would have collapsed? Be thankful to slay queens. Sometimes God calls you to be a slay queen and you start living a life of quenching the’ thirst’ of people in need.
He narrates a story of a married Prophet who started speaking in tongues while he was having relations with a slay queen. Passion Java said most slay queens have an in-depth knowledge of God more than men of the cloth. He said:
You find there are people who look down on slay queens but it is a calling that comes from God. Do you know that there are slay queens who know God more than pastors?
He, however, said that while there are those called to become slay queens, there are those who are possessed by demons to destroy other people’s marriages.
‘No Shaking Hands’: Here Are Some Of The ‘Weird’ Rules At FIFA 2022 World Cup In Qatar
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is just 50 days away, with fans and players geared for the forthcoming global showpiece.
The tournament will kick start on the 20th of November in the Middle East, Qatar. As the world awaits the contest, here are some of the rules that fans and players are compelled to observe to avoid being jailed or fined during the World Cup.
Alcohol and drugs
In Qatar, it is legal for anyone aged 21 and above to consume alcohol.
The government of Qatar has prohibited selling alcohol within the stadium during matches. This doesn’t mean fans won’t be allowed to drink alcohol.
The State outlined that beer will only be served to fans before and after matches at fan zones situated at the stadiums. However, drinking in public is prohibited, and if found guilty, one will face a possible three-year jail term or a heavy fine.
Clothing
Regarding dressing, fans are prohibited from wearing revealing outfits during the tournament. Despite the scorching temperatures in the Middle East, fans are barred from wearing sleeveless tops and shorts.
Qatar government urged fans to dress ‘shyly’ with their shoulders strictly covered.
E-cigarettes Banned
Smoking is prohibited in public spaces, including museums, sports clubs, shopping malls and restaurants, and a heavy fine in the region of around £740 has been put in place for violators of such regulation.
Apart from prohibiting fans from smoking in public spaces, the Qatar government also banned the importation, selling and use of e-cigarettes in the country. Qatar crafted this law in 2014.
Violators of the law mentioned above will be sentenced to three months behind bars and fined QAR 10,000 (around £2,400) for the crime.
No Fornication
Fans have criticized the Qatar government for imposing a strict rule prohibiting unmarried lovers from quenching their ‘thirst’- known as making love in Hollywood romantic movies.
The State also prohibited couples from kissing, which is punishable by a heavy fine and imprisonment.
Shaking hands with Qatari women is also prohibited; this gesture is deemed culturally disrespectful in the country.
Kanye West has defended his “White Lives Matter” t-shirt after receiving backlash for it.
The rapper sat down for an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Thursday, October 6.
During the interview, he said he wore the “White Lives Matter” t-shirt at a Paris fashion show because “they do.”
The 45-year-old rapper also appeared shocked by the backlash the stunt caused.
Ye said: “I do certain things from a feeling. I just channel the energy, it just feels right. It’s using a gut instinct, a connection with God and just brilliance.”
Kanye said his father had reached out to him about the shirt, and told him he thought it was funny.
Kanye said: “I thought the shirt was a funny shirt. I thought the idea of wearing it was funny. And I said ‘Dad why do you think it’s funny?’ And he said ‘just a black man stating the obvious.'”
Kanye went on to speak to Calson about the public outrage in reaction to the T-shirt.
He said: “They’re looking for an explanation — as an artist you don’t have to give an explanation but as a leader you do.
“So the answer to why I wrote ‘White Lives Matter’ on a shirt is they do. It’s an obvious thing.”
When Carlson asked Kanye what he thought made the “White Lives Matter” statement so controversial, West blamed “a group mob” of “liberal nazis” as well as the media, which he said pushes white societal norms.
He said: “Because the same people that have stripped us of an identity and labeled us as a color have told us what it means to be black and the vernacular you’re supposed to have.”
He told an anecdote about his father, a former Black Panther, facing racial discrimination growing up in Delaware as one of the only, if not the only, black families around. When his father attended a black university, West said his father was told by his black classmates that he “talked white.”
Kanye said the controversy behind the shirt stemmed from a black girl saying she “felt traumatized,” after seeing it.
Ye said: “It’s like a black girl saying ‘I felt traumatized when I saw a black man wearing something he wasn’t supposed to wear.'”
He compared it to the movie Quinten Tarantino’s 2012 film “Django Unchained,” in which Samuel L. Jackson’s character, a house slave, is upset with Jamie Fox’s character, a free black man, for riding on a horse in antebellum America.
“If we saw ourselves as a people and not a race then we would treat our people better,” West said.
“In America, we as blacks we’ll look down each other on how good we speak. But we’re speaking English. There’s nothing whiter than English. We’re not in our native tongue, actually. So we judge each other on white goal lines, not based on exactly what our culture is based on.”
Kanye, who wore a MAGA hat during his visit with former President Donald Trump at the White House in 2018 and previously wore a jacket with the Confederate flag on it back in 2013, told Carlson that the support he’s expressed for President Donald Trump and other issues has isolated him from friends and even put him at risk of violent attacks.
“My so-called friends/handlers around me told me if I said that I liked Trump that my career would be over. That my life would be over. They said stuff like people get killed for wearing a hat like that. They threatened my life. They basically said that I would be killed for wearing the hat,” West said.
“I had someone call me last night and said anybody wearing a white lives matter shirt is going to be green-lit. That means they are going to beat them up if they wear it. I’m like, you know, okay, green light me then.”
Suspension Period for Hon. Munir Zulu for 30 days is Illegal
By Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba
The suspension of Lumezi Constituency MP, Hon. Munir Zulu for 30 days is clearly illegal and is against the provision of Parliamentary Standing Orders.
I am not discussing the merit of the allegations against Mr. Zulu but the punishment meted on him.
The Speaker derives his/her powers from the Standing Orders. The Standing Orders are also drawn from the Constitution under Articles 77 and 78 which states that the National Assembly shall regulate its own procedures and make Standing Orders for the conduct of business.
This particular suspension has breached the Standing Orders.
STANDING ORDERS 2021
DURATION OF SUSPENSION OF MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT
If a member is named under Standing Order 208,the suspension period shall be as follows;
A). On the first occasion, for seven sitting days excluding the day of suspension.
b). On the second occasion in the same or subsequent Session, for fourteen sitting days excluding the day of sus0ension; and
C). On the third or a subsequent occasion in the same Parliament, for thirty sitting days excluding the day of suspension.
I recognise that this is the second suspension that Hon. Munir Zulu is saving. Even in the first instance, Zulu was given 30 days instead of seven days.
According to the Standing Orders, Hon. Zulu must be given 7 days or 14 days at most. However, Hon. Zulu has been given the maximum 30 days of suspension.
Further, the actual decision to suspend Hon. Zulu may also be subject to contest as the Speaker was not taken to the Privilidges Committee and was not heard, the suspension was arbitrary and is outside what is provided for in the law.
Hon. Zulu must contest this illegal suspension period.
And on Unparliamentary Language as provided in Article 66, the Speaker may have used more Unparliamentary Language on “fondling” than Zulu’s “shaving”.
The assassination of Muammar Gaddafi was reported across the globe, but recent revelations confirm that the reports were false. It was evident that there was an agenda against Gaddafi – even in death.
Announcing his assassination, the Human Rights Watch headline read; Gaddafi: Death of a Dictator | Bloody Vengeance in Sirte, Libya. ABC News shared a gruesome video of his death titled – Moammar Gadhafi: Death of a Dictator. For Reuters, it was Gaddafi caught like “rat” in a drain.
Reports in the media claim that Gaddafi died after he was beaten and shot several times by Libyan rebel fighters. Well, it appears that there is more than meets the eye, and the world was made to believe what France wanted it to.
According to reports, the 2011 military intervention in Libya, which began on 31 March 2011, records that NATO flew 26,500 sorties in Libya. The operation continued until 31 October 2011, after the death of Muammar Gaddafi was announced.
A somewhat conflicting aspect of this so-called “military intervention” is the confirmation that NATO and its allies only carried out air strikes and have no record of foot soldiers in Libya during the operation. What this denotes is that the mission was clear – assassinate Gaddafi!
The highly documented and promoted media reports further claimed that ‘Gaddafi was found west of Sirte after his convoys were attacked by NATO aircraft.’ It continues that ‘He was then captured by National Transitional Council (NTC) forces and was killed shortly afterwards.’
The reports further claim that the reason for the invasion of Libya was to protect and support the yearnings of Libyans who were protesting against the tyranny of Gaddafi.
The news report that backs the 2011 military intervention in Libya reads:
“On 19 March 2011, a multi-state NATO-led coalition began a military intervention in Libya to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973 in response to events during the First Libyan Civil War.
“With ten votes in favour and five abstentions, the UN Security Council’s intent was to have “an immediate ceasefire in Libya, including an end to the current attacks against civilians, which it said might constitute ‘crimes against humanity’… [imposing] a ban on all flights in the country’s airspace — a no-fly zone — and tightened sanctions on the [Muammar] Qadhafi regime and its supporters.”
This was the script that was sold to the world, but the leaks by Wikileaks reveal that this was not the case. Indeed, Gaddafi’s assassination was orchestrated by France because they perceived that the ‘one African currency backed by gold’ movement by the African leader was a threat to France’s currency imperialism in Africa.
The True Reason Why Gadaffi Was Assassinated
In December 2015, Wikileaks released over 3,000 personal email messages of the then United States of America Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. In one of the emails dated 2 April 2011, the truth about why Gaddafi was assassinated and who was responsible was revealed in white and black. A part of the email read:
“Gaddafi’s government holds 143 tons of gold and a similar amount in silver. This gold was accumulated prior to the current rebellion and was intended to be used to establish a pan-African currency based on the Libyan golden Dinar. This plan was designed to provide the Francophone African Countries with an alternative to the French franc (CFA). “According to knowledgeable individuals this quantity of gold and silver is valued at more than $7 billion. French intelligence officers discovered this plan shortly after the current rebellion began, and this was one of the factors that influenced President Nicolas Sarkozy’s decision to commit France to the attack on Libya. According to these individuals Sarkozy’s plans are driven by the following issues:
A desire to gain a greater share of Libya oil production,
Increase French influence in North Africa,
Improve his internal political situation in France,
Provide the French military with an opportunity to reassert its position in the world,
Address the concern of his advisors over Qaddafi’s long term plans to supplant France as the dominant power in Francophone Africa.”
As revealed in the email communication above, the aide to the former United States Secretary of State clearly briefed her boss about the reason Gaddafi was actually assassinated. The email also reveals a huge possibility that NATO and its allies were deceived into fighting a war for France to maintain its stronghold in Africa.
How France Deceived NATO to Assassinate Gaddafi
France deceived the other members of NATO into believing there was an uprising in Libya and that the protesters on the streets were ordinary Libyan citizens and local rebels.
France supplied false intelligence on which NATO acted – this is evident in the September 2016 report published by the British parliament. In the report, the United Kingdom revealed that the NATO-led intervention in Libya, tagged Operation Unified Protector acted on wrong intelligence.
“It was thanks to the 2016 publication of Hillary Clinton’s emails that the reason behind NATO’s entry into Libya was revealed. It was to prevent the creation of an independent hard currency in Africa that would free the continent from its economic bondage under the dollar, the IMF and the French African franc. That hard currency would have allowed Africa to shake off the last heavy chains of colonial exploitation.” (Brown 2021)
ZAMBIA AND NAMIBIA SIGN GAS AND OIL PIPELINE AGREEMENT
BY: PETER CHIBWE KAPALA
Namibian Mines and energy minister Tom Alweendo and I yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation on the construction of a natural gas pipeline project from Zambia to Walvis Bay to Swakopmund.
This project, led by the private sector, is expected to take three to four years to complete and, when its done, the gas, which will be pumped to Zambia, will be used for power generation while the oil pipeline will help reduce the cost of petroleum products in Zambia.
Given the volatility of international oil and gas prices, there is a need to take advantage of means that reduce the cost of delivering petroleum products and natural gas to our respective people. It is for this reason that I’m glad that our two countries have achieved this milestone of agreeing to cooperate in supporting the development of such key infrastructure.
Once completed, the pipeline will supply between 100 000 and 120 000 barrels of refined petroleum products per day to Zambia and beyond.
The MoU was signed during the 10th Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) session in Swakopmund, Namibia’s coastal western city. During the official opening of the this session of the Namibia-Zambia Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation on Wednesday, Namibia’s deputy prime minister and minister of international relations and cooperation Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said that it was good news that Namibia had discovered oil and gas.
“We will discuss how this resource can be of benefit to the people of the region. The new pipeline will further benefit both people of Namibia and Zambia by creating value chains and employment creation,” she said .
On Wednesday, our ministerial delegation visited the port of Walvis Bay and toured Namport, the oil storage facility and the Zambian Dry Port, which was built on land donated by the government of Namibia. The dry port has not only made Zambia sea-linked but has also been a key contributor to the increased import and export volumes at Walvis Bay. Of all the dry ports at Walvis Bay, Zambia’s is the most active in terms of volumes.
Meanwhile, Minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation Stanley Kakubo acknowledged that Namibia and Zambia enjoy close bilateral relations and share membership in organisations such as SADC, the African Union and the United Nations.
LUMEZI independent member of parliament Munir Zulu will have more than ample time to shave following a 30-day suspension handed to him after telling the house “everyone in here shaves their pubic hair.”
Zulu caused shock on the floor of parliament last Tuesday as he told the house he was an adult who also had the ability to trim the lawns of his groin area.
The juvenile parliamentarian was reacting to being called young man by another lawmaker.
And Following his parliamentary performance, prior to the suspension Zulu took to Facebook wondering; “How does ‘pubic’ become an insult?”
But Moomba member of parliament, Fred Chatila lodged a complaint about the conduct of Zulu of using insulting language in the house which led to the decision today.
Zulu is not new to parliamentary controversy and this is not the first time that the independent Member of Parliament is being suspended as he suffered a similar punishment before.
In March this year, Zulu was suspended for ten days for uttering a statement which reflected negatively on one of the members of parliament and when he was directed to apologise, he misconduct himself once more which led to the punishment on 23 March.
And on a different matter in July, Zulu was also suspended for ten days on grounds of gross misconduct after he threatened the Sergeant at Arm and disrespected the speaker by attempting to grab her mace.
However, barely two months the cycle has repeated itself and Zulu has been handed a 30-day suspension from the August house which he may use to reflect on how to conduct himself in parliament.
Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti disclosed that the history of the Lumezi law makers misconduct shows that he was unrepentant and meant to put the reputation of the house in disrepute.
The matter was subjected to a vote and 63 MPs voted for Zulu to be suspended for 30 days while 33 disagreed.
Opposition Zambia Must Prosper has condemned the recent arrest of its interim party President Kelvin Fube Bwalya for alleged money laundering.
Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) on Wednesday arrested Mr. Bwalya, a lawyer and politician, for failing to report a suspicious transaction involving property worth over K6 million.
Mr. Fube has since been released on Police bond on account that he will never travel out of the country without notifying DEC.
In reaction, Zambia Must Prosper Secretary General Ruth Chikasa has accused the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) of suffocating the opposition because the Hakainde Hichilema – led government is failing to meet citizens’ expectations.
Ms. Chikasa said her party has bemoaned the prevailing political space in Zambia.
Ms. Chikasa said the UPND government is intimidating opposition leaders in order to steal people’s attention from it’s failures.
“It is sad to see what is happening in the political arena in as far as the way opposition party leaders are being treated. The UPND government is intimidating opposition leaders because it has failed meet it’s promises to the people,” she said during a live programme on Diamond TV on Wednesday night.
Mrs Chikasa observed that after believing that Zambia would have a level playing field, where both the ruling and opposition parties would play their roles in the governance of the country, the opposite is happening.
“To maintain democracy in any nation, there is need to have a ruling party and the opposition to ensure checks and balances, without which, there is a risk of jeopardizing democracy,” she noted.
She said months ago while in the UPND Alliance, there were no issues as regards investigations or prosecutions of opposition leaders but it is surprising that such matters have arisen since ZMP opted to leave the Alliance.
“Some of our members in the UPND are on record as saying we have a dossier on KBF and he should not be speaking. What do they mean? That everyone must tow the line? Where is democracy in the country? This is not the democracy that we fought for. This is not the democracy we want for our country. The ruling party has a role to play just as the opposition also has a role to play”.
She called on Zambians to stand up against oppressive manoeuvres by the UPND government, warning that Zambia risks falling into a one party State.
Ms. Chikasa urged the opposition to work together in providing checks and balances and never allow the ruling party to do as they wish.
Mr. Bwalya has been a critic of the New Dawn Government after leaving the UPND Alliance to form Zambia Must Prosper.
KBF has also in the recent past dared to arrest him saying he has never committed any offence related to corruption.
The former senior PF official last month said he left the UPND Alliance because the New Dawn government of President Hakainde Hichilema has not respected the agreement that made him work with the alliance.
Mr. Bwalya alleged that President Hichilema has failed to unite the nation, to respect rule of law and to completely end cadrelism in markets and bus stations.
“We agreed to work together for a particular cause mine to protect and defend the constitution. The UPND whatever motivation they had that was their business. So that was the answer. I would not be appointed unless I had joined UPND. I am a practical man. Anybody who is going to claim he is not working under UPND today but he is in UPND government is lying through his teeth and you (Presenter) and I know that. Which policies are you going to be promulgating? Your own? No. You have to follow the policies of the party in power. Anybody who says he is a President of a political party but he is going to be in a government of another government, what are you doing? So for me our agreement was very simple. We need to protect the constitution,” he told Radio Phoenix.
“This was always the plan (forming a political party), this was always the plan. I never ever joined UPND. Let’s get that clear. I think there has been a lot said about how, why. Let me give some background to this. I stood against the PF on principle and that principle was I was not going to allow a third term to go against the constitution of this country. That I believed from the bottom of my heart that Edgar Chagwa Lungu was running for a third term. I didn’t not mind the Constitutional Court ruling, they had their views but that was my inner most gut feeling. That was a third term; we were not going to allow that. On principle that was my motivation for going against the Patriotic Front, a party which I had basically helped to grow, helped to expand and helped to live with,” Mr. Bwalya added.
FAZ ENGAGES POLICE, FIFA ON SEX SCANDAL ALLEGATIONS
FAZ president Andrew Kamanga says Football House has opened an inquiry through the Zambia Police and FIFA over the social media driven sex scandal involving the women national teams.
Featuring on SuperSport’s popular Soccer Africa program in South Africa, Kamanga said although FAZ had not received any official complaint from anyone over the alleged sex scandal, an inquiry had been opened encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
Kamanga said those that were not comfortable bringing evidence to FAZ could either utilize the Zambia Police route or the FIFA independent inquiry.
“What happened was that there was a lot of social media comments around the stories and obviously we had to investigate internally, and I can state here that from where we stand, we have never received any complaint other than what we have read in social media,” he said. “But what we also did, as a responsible federation, was to open an investigation so we have now asked all those who may have evidence to bring it forward. We have also gone further because this is a very sensitive issue, we have had to write to FIFA to ask them to carry out an independent investigation. We have also, as you would expect, these are matters, which are no longer football related matters but border on crime, we had to ask the Zambia Police to go and investigate and whoever is found wanting will obviously have to face the consequences.”
Kamanga said FAZ had learnt of the many avenues within FIFA for dealing with various challenges as was the case was with the controversial gender verification regulations prescribed by CAF during the WAFCON that excluded some of Zambia’s best players.
He said that FIFA had a wing that could independently dig into the sex allegations that were being bandied within the Zambian game.
“So, it will be independent, and this is why we feel as a federation, we do not want to be the ones running the process because tomorrow we will be accused that we are taking sides. So, we prefer that an independent body such as FIFA which has the capacity to do it will be able to handle the inquiries,” he said.
“Definitely we are going to take sanctions, we have enough rules and regulations within football which we can deal with.” Kamanga said the police had been engaged on the premise that some of the matters being alleged bordered on criminality which was a preserve of law enforcement agencies.
“As I said some of these matters border on crime and have nothing to do with football and it will now be the state police to deal with. This is why we have openly said that those who can report to us, feel free to come in, those who can go to the police feel free to do that because we want to get the bottom of this,” he said.
He also disclosed that there were enough safety nets around some women national teams with trained security personnel and managers to detect some of the transgressions being alleged.
“Just to give you a bit of comfort in terms of what normally happens when a team is in camp all teams have matrons (manager) and police officers who are women, so we expect that even when these things are happening there will obviously be a way in which they can find their way out,” he said. “But I can assure whatever has happened will have to be interrogated to get to a point where we are very clear with where we are going.”
On the status of the search for the long-term Chipolopolo job after Croat Aljosa Asanovic jumped ship in the aftermath of Zambia’s failure to qualify to the CHAN, Kamanga said the association will trigger the process soon.
“We will obviously start the search; we have enough time before the next round of qualifiers. It was quite strange because what happened was the coach was in the middle of the CHAN tournament and one of the key performance criteria for his contract was to qualify the team to CHAN. So, the day he did not qualify he just jumped on the plane, and he has never been back,” he said.
“Whilst he was away, he sent a demand that we had not paid him and as far as our records are showing, we owe him nothing and unfortunately you will agree with me that if you have not worked, there is no basis to be paid.”
He added: “From the time I have been president of the FA, this is the coach we have never missed to pay, of all the coaches.”
The opposition PF has complained that the graft fight by the Hakainde Hichilema Administration is a tribal hunt.
On its Facebook page, PF has outlined a number of people arrested just this week and those arrested since UPND formed Government.
The PF says:
Its not only a witch-hunt against the Patriotic Front but a tribal hunt!

Today, let us take a step back and engage in a thought experiment.
In this experiment, we shall assume and imagine a world wherein you and I are born gay. In our assumptions, let us leave aside the issue of gay intimacy and focus instead on what kind of society would we choose to live under. Assuming you and I were born gay, what kind of society would we want to live under? Would we want to live in a homophobic society that discriminates and constitutionally criminalises against gay persons? Or would we want to live in a society which does not do so?
To help us think about and answer this question, let us adopt and adapt an idea known as the Veil of Ignorance given by John Rawls (considered the most important political philosopher of the 20th century).
The basic idea behind the veil of ignorance is that it is one way in which we can endeavour to make decisions which are just and fair, not only for ourselves, but for everyone in society. The veil of ignorance entails that we deliberately blind ourselves from certain facts about us and the world around us. Facts which may influence the outcome of the decision making process. In this regard, the veil of ignorance blinds us from information pertaining to such things as our race, age, religious affiliation or lack of it thereof, level of education, sex, gender, you name it.
Just think about it for a moment… when it comes to matters of homosexuality, most of the decisions coupled with attitudes we have towards persons that identify as homosexual, are largely influenced by our background circumstances, knowledge and information which we have. For instance, most of us identify as heterosexual and religious. We know these facts about ourselves. Because of this, we may easily make judgments and carry discriminatory attitudes against persons who do not identify as heterosexual, seeing that doing so does not negatively affect us. However, it would be a different thing altogether if we instead imagine ourselves under a position of ignorance, wherein we do not know whether we identify as religious, heterosexual or homosexual, among others. In such a position, would we still make anti-gay judgments and carry discriminatory attitudes towards persons that identify as homosexual?
The obvious answer is that most persons wouldn’t want to make decisions or carry attitudes which would disadvantage them when the veil of ignorance is lifted off them. The forgoing would be the case seeing that persons within that position simply do not know whether they identify as heterosexual or homosexual. The underlying assumption behind persons under the veil of ignorance is that they are characteristically self-interested, implying that they typically make decisions which advantage them, while at the same time avoid those which disadvantage them.
At this point, one may argue by saying that even if persons under the veil of ignorance do not know whether they identify as homosexual or heterosexual, they would still want to live in a society which discriminates and criminalises against homosexuality; for the reason that homosexuality is a bad thing for human society, comparable to vices such as theft, gender based violence, and rape among others. However, when one looks closely at such reasoning, one notices that there are fundamental differences between homosexuality and vices such as theft, gender-based violence, and rape.
One obvious difference may be seen in light of the difference which nineteenth century philosopher John Stuart Mill makes between Self-Regarding and Other Regarding activities. Self-regarding activities are those that when one does them, they do not affect other persons. For instance, if one is listening to music at low volume using earphones in their privacy, this does not in any way affect other persons. On the other hand, Other-Regarding activities are those that affect other persons when one does them. For example, if one is playing loud music in a densely packed residential area. Mill reasons that persons must be completely free to engage in self-regarding activities, seeing that these do not affect anyone except the persons doing the said activities. In this regard, restrictions in the form of legal legislation should only apply when it comes to Other-Regarding activities, primarily for the reason of protecting other persons from potential harms which may be resultant of actors engaging in Other-Regarding activities. For instance, it is justifiable to criminalise theft for the reason that the act of thieving negatively affects persons who are victims of the aforesaid theft.
However, the same thing cannot be said about homosexual acts that are done between consenting adults in the context of their privacy. Just think about it for a moment… How does it negatively affect you and I if two consenting adults are having an intimate moment in their privacy? Of course, the sober answer would be that it doesn’t. Needless to say, it would be a different thing altogether if homosexual activities involve non-consenting adults, or indeed young children below the age of consent. This would be unjustifiable and ought to be condemned in the strongest terms possible. The forgoing also applies to sexual activities within the context of heterosexuality (sexual activities involving persons of the opposite sex). Having said all this, we ask for your indulgence and leave you to reflect on the questions we started with. What if you and I were born gay? Would we want to live in a homophobic society which discriminates and criminalises gay persons? Would we choose to live in a society which discriminates and criminalises homosexuality, assuming that we didn’t know whether we would end up being homosexual or heterosexual after the veil of ignorance?

State House silence coupled with the confusion of Minister Home Affairs and Internal Security and Police IG seems beyond incompetence to suspicions or conspiracy theories.
The UPND New Dawn Government internal confusion on the investigation and rescue of the abduction of 13 women in Chalala, Lusaka is like the PF government confusion when in 2017 police-guarded government markets, including one of two wings of Lusaka City Market, started to catch fire.
Firstlly, while abductors already identified themselves as abductors with a stated purpose of ransom of K15,000, through their initial and follow up contacts, the Police or the government, neither settled the ransom nor informed the public about its decision nor allowed the public or families to settle the ransom but instead assured the public of around the clock investigations of the abduction albeit at a slow process.
In an abduction is, on one hand, abductors demand ransom and conditions, while on the other hand, police issue wanted persons posters, reward or bounty for the public or community for cooperation with the police or successful arrest of the police wanted person.
As said, the abductors’ purpose was clearly ransom as stated without police wanted person notices or police reward or bounty while it is known commonsense to the police or its VSU or public that abductions, like GBV, rapes and defilements, among other crimes, are by villains who are familiar or related or have history with victims.
Apart from abductors and abductees familiarity or school relationships, the police and the minister omitted the information abductors’ house or family is a police family or familiar with the police or police operations or investigations.
Further, there was no surprise with the police omission of the above, the lack of purpose, lack of a dedicated police special unit, as the C5 anti robbery squad or the lack of leader of the operation or the lack of police wanted person notices or the lack of short code phone hotline or most of all, the lack of reward or bounty or recognition for the public or rescuers for successful rescue of abductees and arrest of the abductors.
Therefore, besides the internal confusion, of delayed reaction, withholding facts or names or failure to say anything new or important, the data analysis from the above is that abductors actually intensified abduction in the period of seven months when the police also intensified its investigations.
For example, the Minister’s statement showed, but didn’t say, that Pamela Chisumpa’s abduction, in April, was not the first but about the third or fourth abduction, in the first phase of four abductions followed by a break of one and half months.
In the second phase of August and September abductions doubled from four to nine.
In the end, the President or the Minister or the IG must review or investigate the police investigatiions or abduction operation that exposed government and police incompetence and failure of the Constitutional mandate (Article 193) of detection and prevention of crime as well as building public confidence or police public (society) relationship or familiarity. Most of all, Chalala abduction was a result of degeneration of the security situation over many years.
ABDUCTION OF 13 GIRLS A WAKE-UP CALL FOR RESTORATION OF FAMILY VALUES AND POLICE CAPACITY BUILDING – MDC
Firstly, we wish to express our commendation on the successful rescue of the thirteen young ladies who were abducted and kept captive for periods as long as seven months in Lusaka, by men whose ill motive is yet to be ascertained. The young lady and young man who were at the centre of the rescue are the true hereos and must be recognized as such. Furthermore, the show of collaboration between alert members of the public and the Zambia Police Service cannot go unnoticed in this ordeal.
However, we take note of revelations by Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister, Hon. Jack Mwiimbu yesterday, that nine nursing students among the abducted were thought to be in school by parents, while school authorities assumed they could have gone home.
The minister’s statement read in part that “Nine nursing students from a named University in Chilanga district were abducted from their boarding houses. This made it very difficult as parents thought their children were in school as well as authorities assuming that students could have gone home.” This in itself goes to show eroded family values in our communities, where constant communication in the interest of others’ daily welfare should have been everyone’s concern.
The abduction of the nine nursing students occured between 15th, August and 20th September, 2022 only to be rescued on 3rd October, 2022 in Lusaka’s Chalala area. The approximately two months of school authorities and respective families not reporting the missing individuals to relevant institutions is evidence of broken communication systems and family values of looking out for family and one another’s wellbeing.
The church, political and traditional leaders and the community at large needs to ensure that the country gets back to the basics of family values and being vigilant of everyone’s wellbeing on a daily basis. Neighbors also need to begin taking interest in unusual acting or sound in the community, as it is our belief victims could have been screaming for help but ignored. The nation needs to rebuild strong family values and friendship bonds that will be interested in the everyday welfare of others.
We are concerned that the investigative process by the police was prolonged before the thirteen ladies were rescued this week. This is because we are told, phone calls were made to some contacts of the victims from the same premises yet systems employed by ZICTA and police could not timely zero in on the suspects.
Both the police and ZICTA need capacity building in investigating cases of such nature which they described as alien to Zambia. It should not take over seven months to capture abductors who were keeping their victims in one location where demands of ransom were made.
Our concern as a party is that from the minister’s statement criminals can now easily impersonate police officers as two men in Makeni Simson area abducted one victim on the pretext that they were tracing a stolen phone, thereby coercing her to follow them to a police station which led to her disappearance.
We call upon the police to employ new tactics and identification measures so that more victims do not fall prey to criminals of similar or different nature. The security and safety of every citizen should be made paramount and it is the responsibility of the police command to ensure this. We also call upon the relevant authorities to ensure that the abductuctors who committed this heinous crime are severely punished to serve as an example to would be future offenders.
Signed// Joyce Chembe Musenge Acting Secretary General Movement for Democratic Change MDC
Abductors targeted nursing students and mobile money agents
ABDUCTORS of the 13 recently-rescued young ladies in Lusaka targeted nursing students and mobile money agents investigations have revealed.
What is even more bizarre is most of the victims went to the same school as the abductors who were headboy and deputy headboy respectively.
While using that familiarity as a magnetic field to pull in their agenda, the suspects lured the girls into a trap which will take time for them to recover following a horrific experience with high possibility of rape and abuse.
It was discovered that James Bwalya and Charles Sikaonga, both 22 year-olds were in the same secondary school with some of the victims in Kabwe.
During a press briefing yesterday, minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Jack Mwiimbu disclosed that Police had arrested five people so far in connection with the abduction cases.
Among the suspects include James Bwalya and Charles Sikaonga whose photos on wanted posters were released by Police after they fled the crime scene following the uncovering of their atrocities but were eventually caught in Nkeyema district in Western Province through the help of the public.
It was earlier suspected that the abductors had killed and buried one person within the yard which they used to hold the young females.
However, Mwiimbu revealed according to information gathered by police thus far, there was no dead body found at the premises where the ladies were held captive.
The minister appealed to members of the public to be calm and join forces with the police service in the fighting against crime.
He identified four female mobile money agents Faith Muluti aged 28, Pamela Chisumpa aged 21, Paxina Chanda aged 22, and Macwani Nalukui aged 21 were abducted while the nine were kidnaped between August 15th and September 20th.
Mwiimbu narrated that the first victim was Muluti who had been abducted by two men in makeni Simson area where her abductors impersonated police officers who were trying to trace a stolen phone.
In Chisumpa’s case, she was approached by Bwalya a former classmate around 14:00 hours on April 13 and in the process she was abducted.
The next victim was Paxina Chanda on May 14, who was abducted whilst working at her booth situated along Lumumba Road by Bwalya who was also a former classmate.
And the fourth mobile money agent victim Macwani Nalukui was taken by abductors in June whilst operating at her booth along Lumumba road she was approached by a person she identified as Jordan – a usual customer at her booth.
Other victims included nursing students from a Gideon Nursing School in Chilanga district.
Priscilla Mapulanga aged 23 years old who was abducted by her former classmate and suspect, Bwalya.
The other six students from the same school including Onesta Lungu aged 25, Grace Siabeula aged 22, Ruth Banda aged 21, two juveniles aged 17, abducted Agness Kapwaya aged 22 abducted and Chungwe, 24, were abducted on different dates between August 15 to September 20.
UGANDA’S PRESIDENT SORRY FOR SON MUHOOZI KAINERUGABA’S THREAT TO INVADE KENYA
Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has asked Kenyans for “forgiveness” after his son – a senior military officer – tweeted about invading their country.
His apology came a day after he sacked Muhoozi Kainerugaba as commander of the army’s land forces.
But Mr Museveni softened the blow by promoting him to the rank of general, and retaining him as his adviser.
Mr Museveni has long been suspected of grooming the 48 year old to succeed him when he eventually steps down.
Gen Kainerugaba has increasingly been entering the political arena, with his critics saying this was in breach of the military’s code of discipline.
His latest intervention came on Monday when he sent out a series of tweets – some serious, some in jest – about Kenya.
He said he had spoken to Kenya’s former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and expressed regret that he had stepped down at the end of his two terms in August.
“My only problem with my beloved big brother is that he didn’t stand for a third term. We would have won easily!” Gen Kainerugaba said.
In a later tweet to his more than 600,000 followers, he said: “It wouldn’t take us, my army and me, 2 weeks to capture [Kenya’s capital] Nairobi.
This led to an uproar on Twitter, with people accusing Gen Kainerugaba of being “reckless” and jeopardising relations between the neighbouring states.
It led to him urging Kenyans to “relax”.
“I would never beat up the Kenyan army because my father told me never to attempt it! So our people in Kenya should relax!” Gen Kainerugaba tweeted.
Although the Kenyan government did not comment, Uganda’s foreign ministry issued a statement saying Uganda treasured its “strong bilateral relations” with it “brotherly neighbour”.
In the latest attempt at damage-control, Mr Museveni said he had spoken to Kenya’s President William Ruto, and he was “very sorry” about his son’s tweets.
“I ask our Kenyan brothers and sisters to forgive us for tweets sent by General Muhoozi, former Commander of Land Forces here, regarding the election matters in that great country.
“It is not correct for Public officers, be they civilian or military, to comment or interfere in any way, in the internal affairs of brother countries,” Mr Museveni said.
He added that despite his son’s “mistake”, he had promoted him to the rank of full general because he could still make “many positive contributions”.
“I know for a fact that General Muhoozi is a passionate Pan-Africanist,” Mr Museveni said.
His son is known for his controversial tweets, including expressing support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and Tigrayan rebels fighting the Ethiopian government.
He also tweeted that he would give 100 cattle – apparently as a bride price – to Italy’s incoming far-right Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for being “fearless and true”.
“I know Europeans give girls they like flowers? I have never understood it. In our culture you give a girl you like a cow,” he added.
His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, State House, Lusaka.
Greetings.
We have noted with grave concern the continued and systematic abuse and harassment of former President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu through the illegal actions and activities of the law enforcement agencies particularly the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
It is now clear that these law enforcement agencies have unlawfully initiated criminal proceedings against President Lungu when he enjoys full immunity from prosecution.
May we hasten to point it to you that as things stand, no criminal proceedings can be initiated against President Edgar Chagwa Lungu as he enjoys immunity from any such proceedings. For avoidance of doubt please refer to Article 97 (4);
“Subject to clause (9), the President or a person performing executive functions, as provided in Article 109, is immune from criminal proceedings which immunity continues after that person ceases to hold or perform the functions of that office.”
Further, Article 99 (5) is unambiguous and very instructive on the procedure that must be followed if criminal proceedings be instituted against a former Head of State;
“Where there is prima facie evidence that a person who held the office of President or who performed executive functions committed an offence whilst in office or during the period that person performed executive functions, the President shall submit a report, outlining the grounds relating to the offence allegedly committed, to the National Assembly, requesting the National Assembly to remove the immunity from criminal proceedings of that person.”
As explicated above, the searches against President Lungu that the named law enforcement agencies have been conducting are arbitrary, unlawful, malicious and vindictive and we demand that they henceforth be STOPPED!
We implore you as the appointing authority and chief custodian of the Constitution of Zambia to ensure that all law enforcement agencies respect the Constitution and strictly adhere to the tenets of the rule of law and that they cease turning Zambia in to a banana republic.
DEC and ACC are setting a very dangerous precedence that will haunt you once you leave office. We wish to remind you that as you preside over the affairs of the nation always remember the words of Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount: “Do unto others as you would wish them to do unto you.”
The continued abuse and harassment of President Lungu is not only illegal but inhumane, unnecessary and is causing a lot of anguish and tension in the country. We beseech you to take a leaf from statesmen and noble leaders like Nelson Mandela and President Ruto who have used the Presidency to unite and pacify their countries in the wake of political battles and electoral victories.
Yours faithfully,
Hon Given Lubinda Acting President Patriotic Front
THE WITNESS IN THE KAOMA 2019, LAWRENCE BANDA MURDER CASE
THE third witness is the driver Christopher Mapulanga, who drove the GX belonging to Sylvia Masebo, to the place where the crime is alleged to have been committed from.
The prosecution calls third witness, Christopher Mapulanga to the witness box.
Prosecution: Can you tell court your name, what you do, your age and where you live?
Christopher Mapulanga: My name is Christopher Mapulanga, a driver, I am 29 years old. I live in Chawama in Lusaka.
Prosecution: I believe you know why you are here… tell the court what you know
Mapulanga: In 2019, in October, I Christopher Mapulanga and my leader in the UPND together with provincial chairman, Brian, Lawrence Banda, Fanwell, Kalufyanya, Opalana among others, we started off from Lusaka to Kaoma.
Prosecution: Proceed
Mapulanga: My boss Chitanga was driving the vehicle. The vehicle was a GX Landcruiser and we were 9 in total. We were going for a by election in Kaoma.
Prosecution: What is the number plate of the vehicle you were using?
Mapulanga: I can’t recall the number of the motor vehicle.
Prosecution: Proceed
Mapulanga: We came to Kaoma to help our colleagues in the by election, the motor vehicle we were using had the PA system. When we reached Kaoma we lodged at General Sitwalas Lodge, and that is where we used to sleep. We had a camp where we used to eat from. It was my first time to be in Kaoma, so I cannot state where the place was as I didn’t know.
Prosecution: Then what happened?
Mapulanga: What happened, we were in camp preparing for Mangango, while, we were inside, we heard gunshots outside. Me and my friends, farewell, Brian, Chichi, Kalufyanya went outside and found that the vehicle where the gun shot came from had driven away. We saw the motor vehicle going. The vehicle was a four doors Hilux white in colour, so we sat, even the villagers from there came out and we were surprised about the event. So, as we were there, we went back to continue preparing for Mangango, the same vehicle came back, and after it came, we saw it, that it was the same vehicle that came first. We stopped them and parked. We saw that on the dashboard there was a pistol. And we told them that you came and fired gunshots. They refused that they were not the one who fired the gunshot. Then when we were exchanging words, police officers came, police promised to deal with them. We continued with preparation for Mangango, and we moved to go to the secretariate in Kaoma, Me, Brian, Lawrence Banda, Fanwell, Chichi and Opalana and other people from Kaoma.
Prosecution: Then what happened at that time?
Mapulanga: Brian my boss received a call from the caretaker where we eat from, informing him that the PF cadres have attacked our camp.
Prosecution: Proceed
Mapulanga: We resolved that we shall not watch others destroy our camp, that is when Brian said we need to check on the same people who have destroyed the camp. Brian, instructed that I get the keys I drive to go to the camp, we started off, myself, Lawrence Banda, Brian, Fanwell, Opalana and Kalufyanya. Others were at the back. We went to the camp we found that they had looted, and destroyed everything including scattering the food. We decided to find out where they had done. Some people there informed us that they had just left that place.
Prosecution: What did you do?
Mapulanga: We followed them, they were just near, we found them in a motor vehicle the same white Toyota Hilux that earlier came at the camp. The registration of the vehicle was BAD 5864, we parked 20m away. Brian disembarked from the motor vehicle together with Lawrence Banda, Chichi, Kalufyanya and others followed them to ask why they looted our camp. I was the driver, at the time I wanted to came out, the music was off and windows were open, so I saw the guy opening the door, he was short and dark. He shot twice, he came out of the car, and fired twice. So, I heard the gunshot and closed the doors, I called friends to come back into the motor vehicle, I saw the mother I know Mumbi Phiri, she was getting out of the passengers’ door shouting shoot these mother fuckers…she shouted loudly that is when I saw the guy shooting at our friend.
Prosecution: How did you know that it was Madam Mumbi Phiri?
Mapulanga: Ba Mumbi Phiri is a public figure; she is a well-known person. I kept on telling my friends that I will reverse the vehicle, so many will die, the driver she was with I know him, there were other people behind their vehicle wearing PF legaria.
Prosecution: how long did that happen?
Mapulanga: It was just few minutes.
Prosecution: So, after that incidence what did you do?
Mapulanga: My friends left the guy down and got in the motor vehicle and reversed. I went to park the motor vehicle at general Sitwalas’ premises.
Cross examination Makebi: good afternoon Mapulanga, do you remember the date you came to Kaoma? Mapulanga: I remember Monday Makebi: Do you remember date? Mapulanga: It was in a month of October. Makebi: What was Lawrence Banda wearing? Mapulanga: Red t-shirt Makebi: What was Mumbi Phiri wearing that day Mapulanga: I didn’t pay attention Makebi: …and yet these are the people you spent time with the whole day. Makebi: You were not scared Mapulanga: That is why we went outside Makebi: You even followed when you were scared Mapulanga: We wanted to find out Makebi: You stopped the vehicle Mapulanga: Yes Makebi: You were not scared Mapulanga: No Makebi: You saw the gun on the dashboard and you were not scared Mapulanga: No
Makebi: So, I put it to you that people you met were not hostile. Mapulanga? No Makebi: Do you remember giving a statement to police at any time Mapulanga: No Makebi: You said on the same day you came to the police and explained to them Mapulanga: No, we did not go there, but they found us there Makebi: Do you remember saying that you found cartridges? Mapulanga: No, it’s police officers. Makebi: So, you did not see the cartridges? Mapulanga: No Makebi: You and Brian in November, 2021 you went to Lilayi Police and gave a statement. Mapulanga: Yes
Makebi: Did you listen to all what he said to the police Mapulanga: Yes Makebi: Is this your statement and signature? Mapulanga: Yes Makebi: And you signed that this is your statement you signed for? Mapulanga: He made a call. Makebi: So, you never said this. Mapulanga: I did not say that. Makebi: Brian took a stand, that he heard you say that, when he was asked about Mr. Chola. Mapulanga: No
Makebi: So, the statement should come out Mapulanga: Police found us there Makebi: When the police came, in two Landcruisers, you said you picked one Cartridge and Chitanga picked one Cartridge, did you say that? Mapulanga? Police picked the cartridge Makebi: So, you lied when you said you did not pick the cartridge? That was a lie you told Court that you did not pick cartridge. Mapulanga: It was on a second time. Makebi: At the first scene you did not pick the cartridge, you only picked after Lawrence Banda was shot at. Mapulanga: Kumankala kuibala (Sometime there is forgetting) Makebi: So, you forgot?
Mapulanga: You can’t trust your memory? Makebi: You could have forgotten other things. Do you want me to repeat the question? Mapulanga: I picked the cartridge the second time. Me, I was just giving a statement and the person who was writing was someone else. Makebi: Okey, let’s follow your version. Mapulanga: I stopped the vehicle. Makebi: Did the police come and stopped the vehicle? Mapulanga: The police didn’t get the fire arm but they saw it. Makebi: When you told the court, you said they told you that they will go and see them. But (now) your statement has changed from the earlier statement… Mapulanga: No
Makebi: Do you remember saying that you were in a group Mapulanga: Yes Makebi: Who was the leaders of the group Mapulanga: Chitanga Makebi: Who was the leader in the absence of Chitanga Mapulanga: Brian, he is the one who said drive, let’s follow them, I followed the instruction given by Brian Makebi: Do you know where PF were supposed to campaign that day? Mapulanga: I don’t know Makebi: Where were you supposed to be? Mapulanga: We were supposed to go to Mangango Makebi: So, you followed them? Mapulanga: We wanted to ask them? Makebi: You didn’t go to police
Mapulanga: We didn’t go anywhere Makebi: Instead, you decided to confront PF Mapulanga: Yes Makebi: You were not one of the people who went to ask. Mapulanga: No, I was watching what happened. Makebi: And you saw Madam Mumbi Phiri coming out, you remember what the driver was wearing and you can’t remember what madam Mumbi Phiri was wearing.
Mapulanga: No Makebi: Interestingly Makebi: Did you hear what Lawrence Banda and others were asking people in the vehicle? Mapulanga: They were shouting, they were angry. Makebi: You were all angry the time you were going that side? And out of that anger Brian and Lawrence Banda went to the PF motor vehicle to attack them. Mapulanga: No, they went to ask. Makebi: Lawrence Banda and Brian Mulenga went there, Brian went to the driver’s side and Lawrence Banda went to the passengers’ side. Mapulanga: If that is what he said its true… Makebi: Your people approached PF in anger Mapulanga: They went complaining Makebi: Shouting?
Mapulanga: I never came out of the vehicle, I only heard gunshots Makebi: Were you scared? Mapulanga: Yes, I was scared Makebi: So, you were scared, in a state of fear you saw a person like Mumbi Phiri Mapulanga: yes Makebi: And you drove away Mapulanga: He shot at someone Makebi: You drove back (reversed), did you meet the police? Where did you go? Mapulanga: To park the vehicle Makabeio: Why were you parking the vehicle Mapulanga: I was scared
Makebi: Do you know who took him to the hospital Mapulanga: No Makebi: Do you know when he died? Mapulanga: We were just told that your friend has died, me and my friend ran into the bush we left others me and chichi. Makebi: You ran away because you were scared that your car would be destroyed Mapulanga: No, not because of the motor vehicle Makebi: After parking
Mapulanga: We went to into the bush. Makebi: You didn’t go to the police. It would be different if you went to police Mapulanga: We didn’t have trust in the police Makebi: …the whole time you were in Kaoma, did you report any matter to the police? Mapulanga: No
Makebi: The only time you went to police was on 8th November 2021, 2 years 2 months later in Lilayi with regards to this matter? Mapulanga: Yes Makebi: …do you remember that President Hakinde Hichilema in September, 2021 he said Mumbi Phiri knows people who killed Lawrence Banda and has to be held responsible? Mapulanga: I was at the farm, I cannot remember, the just called me that I should give a statement. Makebi: You never spoke to any police about this matter since 2019 until 2021 November? Mapulanga: They told me to give a statement Makebi: You were able to remember the registration of the motor vehicle and what Shebby was dressed in? Mapulanga: What happened (that day) I can’t forget the incident. Makebi: Yet you have forgotten the number plate of the vehicle you had. Mapulanga: Just said I drove the vehicle from the secretariate, I can’t remember the number plate. Makebi: Do you have an explanation where the police did not witness your statement? Mapulanga: I don’t know, they just said sign here, Makebi: Just confirm, that no one witnessed your statement Mapulanga: No one my lord.
Makebi: That is, for this witness me my Lord… Jonas Zimba comes to cross examine Mapulanga. Zimba: Mapulanga, Is, it your desire that if a government leaves others should get in trouble? Mapulanga: No Zimba: Do you remember that whilst in Kaoma you parked the vehicle and ran away into the bush? Mapulanga: Yes Zimba: You ran away because you were scared that you would be arrested. Mapulanga: We were scared that they will kill us. Zimba: Look at your group, it’s only UPND and they just went to report, you are the ones that went to make statements. Mapulanga: It’s only me and Brian and Chitanga Zimba: You are all UPND cadres, and if someone came and said these statements were made from Headquarters, they will be lying because of they made them at Lilayi. Mapulanga: They will be.
Done for this witness my Lord…. Court: Re-Cross examination Prosecution: Nothing my Lord. Court: Witness stand down…

CITIZENS’ HERO APPRECIATION PROGRAM (Braveheart Robby & other two)
I have had numerous requests that I undertake a fundraising venture to raise funds from willing citizens towards our young man hero Robby Chitambo.
Young at 20years old, he was key in rescuing Pamela and other 12 girls out of their 8 months abduction ordeal.
This venture meant to be similar to the successful fundraising project we undertook a few months ago for our 400m champion Muzala Samukonga when citizens appreciated him with a total contribution of circa K70,000.
Our role is to respond and give the people what they demand. Donate towards the BraveHeart Robby so as to appreciate his unique acts that has resolved the emotional pain of the girls, parents and Nation at large.
This more so that it will encourage residents in most of our compounds and locations in all Constituencies to be alert and help curb crime. They will be aware than ordinary citizens may appreciate them handsomely if they go an extra miles to help or rescue another citizen or citizen out of all sort of physical, mental and emotional form of torture.
We are aware young Robbie was assisted in the rescue by two other boys or so. Fundraiser will therefore be shared equally amongs all the other youths that responded to Robbie’s call of support to rescue the girls.
We also note the girl who risked jumping the wall fence out of the hostage house to access Robby across the road for SOS help. I am however constrained to include her in this fundraising Ubuntu venture as her circumstances and disposition are still under Police investigations.
We wish to stay clear of the ongoing police investigations so that when they eventually announce their full findings, it would have been free of any interference from any one of us be it individually or collectively. Speaking from experience here as some may find it fit to find room for evil propaganda.
Therefore please donate to young Robbie and other two boys on the following numbers ;
Those that wish to donate in person may text or Whatsup so. We will meet them in person if they so wish.
This fundraising project will run for the next 7 days and as per usual, We will avail periodic updates (after obtaining individual consent) of names and amounts contributed.
As not to ask anyone to do what I cannot do, I start with a K5,000 contribution nganafola (on my pay day from the Speaker).
Please play your part in appreciating our young Robbie and other two so as to promote citizen vigilance in ensuring security in our various residences. This more so if it’s to protect vulnerable innocent girls from evil minded boys or men predators.
Lusaka, October 5 2022, ZANIS —–French President, Emmanuel Macron has invited President Hakainde Hichilema to visit France in early 2023 in order for the two countries to strengthen their long standing bilateral relations.
And visiting French Minister of State for Development Francophone and International Partnership, Chrysoula Zacharopoulou has congratulated Zambia for managing to secure an International Monetary Fund (IMF) credit facility.
Dr Zacharopoulou was speaking at State House in Lusaka today, when she delivered a letter containing a special message from President Macron when she paid a courtesy call on President Hichilema.
She explained that France as the deputy Chairperson for the committee on the common framework for Zambia’s debt restructuring will continue to support all the efforts that Zambia is undertaking to successfully manage its debt.
“We wish to congratulate you on the excellent outcome of the approval of the IMF credit facilitation, and as France as part of the common framework committee will continue to support you going forward,” she said.
She also noted that while in Zambia, she has managed to meet the Ministers of Commerce, Trade and Industry, and Green Economy and Environment and a number of issues on how best the two countries can work together in improving the different sectors of economy were discussed.
Dr Zacharopoulou cited collaboration in forestry restoration, energy and trade and investment as some of the topics that have been covered.
She said to this effect France will make available loans that can be accessed by Zambians in these sectors, adding that the two Ministers have since been invited to visit France by the end of the year to further engage with French business persons.
She noted that her country is planning on organizing an investment and trade summit, which Zambia can take advantage of and explore its further investment opportunity within the French economy.
And President Hichilema has held the strong bilateral relations that Zambia and France have continued to enjoy as evidenced with an active role that France played to help Zambia secure an IMF bailout package.
President Hichilema explained that France, China and South Africa are an important part of Zambia’s debt restructuring process by virtue of them being key members of the committee of common framework on debt restructuring programme.
“We are happy that France supported us towards our debt resolution, it is extreme important for us to successfully manage to get a credit facility from IMF for our debt which will help us better the lives of our people,”
He explained that Zambia has embarked on a robust economic transformation agenda as enshrined in its Eight National Development Plan which is about building a resilient economy that supports growth.
He pointed out that to achieve this, Zambia is working with different stakeholders, including countries like France in order to grow its trade, investment and Foreign Indirect Investments.
President Hichilema further informed the French delegation that Zambia is committed to upholding the rule of law and respect for human rights.
Bob Marley’s wife, Rita Marley, has spent more than 20 years residing in Ghana. In the 1990s, she relocated to Ghana with Bob Marley’s family. In 2013, she petitioned for and was granted citizenship in Ghana. Rita Marley now has a Ghanaian name — Nana Afua Abodea.
In Ghana’s Aburi, she also has a home. In Accra, Ghana, Rita Marley created a studio in memory of her deceased husband, Bob Marley. The name of it is Studio One. In Ghana, she runs a nonprofit organization. Her foundation, The Rita Marley Foundation, supports charitable endeavors.
Nana Rita Marley started her musical career in the early 1960s as a vocalist with the all-female group The Soulettes, which performed with the Four Tops, Johnny Nash, and other performers of the time. Her single ‘One Draw’, which she released in 1982, was a major hit in Europe but Jamaica said it was not fit for airplay. One Draw was the first reggae single to top the Billboard Disco chart, according to Jamaica Observer.
Rita Marley was born to Leroy Anderson and Cynthia “Beda” Jarrett in Cuba and raised in Trenchtown, Jamaica. She writes in her book No Woman No Cry: My Life with Bob Marley about growing up on Greenwich Park Road with her aunt Viola. She has never regretted moving to Ghana with her family in the 1990s. “This is heaven,” Rita Marley reportedly said. “I see myself still as a Jamaican, but Africa is our roots and I was always looking forward to this transition,” she said. “Nigeria is more like New York, but Ghana is a lot more like what we expect Africa to me.”
In honor of her contributions to Ghana, she was awarded a Ghanaian passport. Her philanthropic foundation in Ghana supports initiatives for the betterment of Accra, Ghana. She helps the pupils of the Methodist Local Primary and J.S.S, both schools in her community, by rehabilitating old school buildings and constructing new ones, as well as by giving scholarships and providing meals for elementary school students to improve their nutrition.
Rita Marley planned to exhume her late husband’s body and bury it in Ethiopia, where she believed he had a “spiritual resting place,” in 2005. She intended to make a month-long event out of the day he would have turned 60. She had hoped to bury him in a Rastafari settlement that had been granted land by the nation’s previous ruler, Haile Selassie.

When the matter came up before the Lusaka Magistrate Irene Phiri, Tayali’s lawyer , Mwansa Chambaila made an application for his client’s bail pending trial.
“It is our humble Application that the accused be granted bail pending trial as the offence he has been charged with is a bailable offence. Further your honour, if the accused is granted bail, he will attend court proceedings on all given dates and he will not interfere with witnesses in the matter,” he said.
Mr Chambaila added that the accused was ready to abide by conditions the court would impose.
In response, State prosecutors did not object to the application, however, urged the court to attach weight to the conditions to ensure that Tayali attends court.
Magistrate Phiri granted bail in the sum K5, 000 cash in their own recognisance with two sureties of traceable residences .
Meanwhile, Mr Tayali’s lawyer, Mr Chambaila in an interview with journalists said Tayali was initially charged with Defamation of the President when he was in custody and for that particular offence, he was given police bond.
“Unfortunately whilist in custody, there was an incident involving a female police officer and after that incident he was charged with Assault on a police officer contrary to the laws of Zambia. So what happened is that when he was given police bond, he was supposed to remain in custody and so we proceeded to put up a case of habeas corpus, but then he was brought to court and we made an application for bail. And bail has been granted and so at least you can say that justice has been served,” he said.
Mr Chambaila further added that for the initial charge, which was Defamation of the President, the matter has not been brought to court.
UPND HAVE BEEN LYING…we thought they had the idea, plan – KBF
By Fanny Kalonda
ZAMBIA Must Prosper president Kelvin Fube Bwalya says the 2023 national budget is a populist one to make UPND look good. He argued that the UPND lost it when they agreed to IMF conditions and end up framing a consumption-oriented budget.
“They are not thinking straight. They have had one year plus now. We gave them time. This is their budget. Last year, they could probably argue and say ‘that was a PF budget or part thereof’,” Bwalya said. “But this is their budget. Is this the best they can come up with? I’m disappointed. We thought they had it in the bag. We thought they had the idea. They have been lying all this time, you and I know. They were lying, they lied because they were so desperate to get into power.”
Featuring on Diamond TV’s Costa programme on Sunday, Bwalya said the new dawn administration lost the game the point they gave a consumption budget to Zambians.
He said the UPND had enough time to plan when they were in opposition and “this shows lack of policy direction”. Bwalya argued that the employment of an additional 4,500 teachers and 3,000 health workers is not creation of employment but filling in vacancies.
He said the budget has not indicated production but has chosen to continue with the same mining regimes they introduced last year. “Whenever a budget is presented, the first things you should look at are the indicators and one of the greatest indicators is what is going to stimulate growth. If sweet language, flowery language was what to go by then this is a very sweet budget. But this is not going to make Zambia move. This is a stagnation budget. It is not going to move us anywhere. It is not to make us prosper. It is not going to give us movement in terms of job creation. It terms of stimulation in the mining sector, energy sector, tourism, manufacturing, no,” he said. “This is one of those budgets, which is consumption oriented. I had time to read the budget part of yesterday and today, and I am sorry to say to the Zambians, this is not a budget that you would have expected from a party that was in opposition for over 21 plus years. And with 15 years being run by an economist as president, in the name of Hakainde Hichilema and now a current Republican President. This is not the kind of thinking we want to see in terms of leadership.”
Last Friday, finance minister Situmbeko Musokotwane unveiled a K167.3 billion budget representing 31.4 per cent of gross domestic product.
But Bwalya said the government lost it on the negotiating table when they agreed to the terms and conditions of the IMF “thereby giving Zambians a consumption budget”.
“The difficulty we have here is an economist as President who told Zambians he had solutions. 15 years as head of opposition, now as head of government. You should have answers now. What answers do you have? Nothing on the table! Nothing to sing home about. Let’s talk about agriculture, fisheries, livestock. They’re talking of recreating, reopening farm blocks. What’s that?” he wondered. “In politics, you lose your negotiation at the negotiating table. And this government lost its negotiations when it was negotiating with the IMF on the negotiation table. The moment they agreed the terms and conditions which were given, the moment they agreed that they were going to do a consumption budget, the moment they agreed that they were going to remove subsidies on electricity, on fuel, and then give a consumption budget to the Zambian people, they lost the game. Mining according to the minister accounts for 17.5 per cent of our GDP in this country, and you’re not taxing the mines. What are you doing to the Zambians? What are you saying? What are you saying to Zambian people who you’re supposed to be visiting? What are you saying? Tax holiday? Nobody does that to the biggest foreign exchange earner in your country. You give tax holiday! They are continuing with the tax regime, which they had since last year? What does that mean?”
CONGOLESE traders are now throwing stones at police officers who are trying to calm the situation happening at Kasumbalesa border post, following a sitting protest by Zambian truck drivers who have denied going into the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) because of harassment being faced.
The truck drivers in doing a sitting protest have blocked walking traders from the DRC, who in return have now started throwing stones towards police officers who are trying to apply Law and order in the area.
Copperbelt Province Commanding officer Sharon Zulu said the security status at Kasumbalesa is quite hostile, despite security wings monitoring the happenings in which truck drivers have continued their sitting protest.
Ms Zulu said the area is facing challenges, because the tucks parked by drivers have gone as far as riverside check point towards Chingola, a situation which is not safe because any criminal will take advantage by trying to steal from the goods in the trucks.
She has however, said police are patrolling the area to ensure that the trucks are not tampered with.
“Coming to the happening at the border right now , we have a situation where by the Zambian side which is called no man’s land has been blocked, so trucks coming from DRC are not supposed to enter Zambia as it is the case also for trucks going into DRC.
We also have an extra stretch where now the Zambian side, truck drivers have blocked parts for people trading who walk in through using the paths and so the Congolese coming into the country to trade are blocked,” she said.
Ms Zulu said that to retaliate with being blocked by the truck drivers, the traders are stoning police officers who are trying to contain the situation at Kasumbalesa border post.
“Surprisingly, the Congolese traders continue to throw stones even to the police at Kasumbalesa police post. As police we are not stopping traders to come into Zambia, but Zambian truck drivers do not want the traders,” she said.
She has stated that the police only want to ensure peace and safety is maintained as the drivers do their sitting protest.
UPND live in an exaggerated self-bubble of praise – Silavwe
By Fanny Kalonda
Golden Party of Zambia president Jackson Silavwe says the PF lived in corruption and breathed corruption.
He warns that the UPND are treading on the same path as that of the PF.
“They live in an exaggerated self-bubble of praise that when they just do one thing, when they just wake up in the morning, when they just walk one step, they are praising themselves and yet they have not even reached the office to look at the work of that day,” he noted. Silavwe claimed that he has information that some UPND officials are going to businessmen that supplied government during the PF administration to ask them for money in exchange to be excused from prosecution.
“Within the UPND, you have got a section that now were calling for the SG (secretary general Batuke Imenda) to resign. For us in GPZ, all this smacks of indiscipline. That we are being led by one of the most undisciplined party that has ever ruled this country. PF was the most violent party that has ever ruled this country, but the UPND is going to be the most undisciplined. There is no discipline among the rank and file of the UPND,” Silavwe told The Mast. “And where you see such indicators, know that underneath corruption is taking place. We have received reports that senior UPND officials are going to businessmen, businessmen that supplied government, that were doing business with the previous government and going to them and asking them that we will remove you from the list of people to be investigated by ACC and DEC – and if you only pay us 10 per cent, it is happening in this administration. Senior government officials, some who have been paid, some of them who have found themselves in good graces of the UPND and the new dawn administration!”
He said the government cannot fight corruption when it is double-tongued.
“So as we have called on the UPND, fight against corruption should be genuine. And at the moment, it does not look genuine. The fight against corruption that is being led by the new dawn administration is extremely emotional. At the rate they are going, I don’t think they are going to… And you see the problem or should I say we are putting ourselves in a situation, the UPND has put itself in a position where the republican President has come out fuming and discouraging caderism but today we have a cadre who is not putting on military fatigue, we have cadre who is now putting on a jacket but his language betrays him,” he said. “So we have all these. You can see reports from within the UPND fighting in the media. That they have not benefitted from ushering in the UPND into power. You had three senior UPND officials, address the media saying ‘no, we don’t get jobs through demonstrations’.”
Silavwe said the corruption fight is based on vindictiveness “that is why one year after being elected into office there is no clear case they have prosecuted”.
He wondered where the UPND is taking the country.
“It is based on vindictiveness, it is not based on hard facts and merit. No wonder they are wallowing in just nonsense if I can call it that way. Even one year after being elected into office, there is no clear case they can point to us that they have successfully prosecuted in the courts of law with hard facts. We have got deals here and there regarding the former KCM liquidator. They have struck a deal which has become a terrible mess,” he said. “You are prosecuting and vindicating. And prosecuting the very person who is supposed to be at the core of prosecuting corruption, the DPP. You are busy fighting them. The question I ask the UPND, where are you taking us? Where are they taking this country? It seems those who are leading us are in need of leaders themselves to show them the right way to govern our country.”
Silavwe said at the moment, the UPND are off tangent with the Zambian people because of self-praise.
Celebrated Zambian singer Elton Mulenga, otherwise known as Yo Maps, has congratulated in-form Chile One Mr Zambia on his bagging of five awards.
Chileshe Wanga, alias Chile One Mr Zambia, scooped five awards at the Sun FM-organised Kwacha Music Awards on Saturday night in Lusaka.
Social media users got animated with Chile One’s winning of the awards and, for whatever reasons, threw all manner of mocking innuendos at Yo Maps, who didn’t win any award on the night.
Reacting to the matter, Yo Maps told Kalemba that Chile One deserves the awards he won.
Yo Maps is encouraging Chile One against being complacent but instead work hard as there is no smooth road in the music industry.
“I’m very happy for him that he is doing it and won an award. It is a good start but he needs to focus and be careful; he will go a long way,” Mulenga said.
The commando hit maker commended the organisers of the Kwacha Music Awards for initiating them.
He, however, said there is need to ensure that the price attached to the awards benefits the winners, as opposed to winners merely being handed trophies.
Meanwhile, Yo Maps said it is unfortunate that some people have set a standard on how they want him to live his life.
He said he cannot manage to be told how to live his own life as many people are expecting him to.
“I’m not going to live a life based on people’s opinions; I can’t manage to live the way people want me to live. As long as I’m doing what I think is right…. I can’t please everyone because people have their own opinion. So I’m really not paying attention to negativity,” Yo Maps said.
Yo Maps also said he is working on penetrating into other countries to win BET awards, among other foreign musical awards, as that will help Zambia.
He has since encouraged upcoming artistes to consistently work hard and believe in their music before anyone does.
“Mu Zambia tamwaba Illuminati; the only Illuminati we have is hard work and God,” said Yo Maps.

MUMBI PHIRI, SHEBBY CHILEKWA TRIAL STARTS IN A MURDER CASE OF LAWRENCE BANDA
By Nelson Zulu
INCARCERATED former PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri has today appeared in the Mongu High Court for the offence of murder of a UPND cadre Lawrence Banda, who died in 2019 in Kaoma during a council chairmanship by-election. Together with Phiri, is former president Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s barber Shebby Chilekwa who is jointly charged together with her for the shooting down of Lawrence.
Three witnesses so far among them UPND cadre, Brian Mulenga have testified in the matter. Opening the prosecution in the matter was a Lusaka businessman, Frank Mwamba 48, of Chelstone and owner of Master Source company who testified that last year, Police officers called him in connection with one of the vehicles registered in his name that it was involved in some crime.
Here is the verbatim Witness Frank Mwamba: 48, I live in a Chelstone, Lusaka, I am a businessman Prosecutor: Kindly tell the court about what you are here for : Mwamba: I recall in 2010, I decided to form a company which I called Master Source, so I registered a company with PACRA and my line of operation was to offer external accounting services and supply. In the course of doing my business I heard about Star Shell Zambia limited, that company was located along Kafue Road in Lusaka and were selling both used and none used vehicles and I started working with them. One day I received a phone call from Ephraim Simwanza that he was administrative assistant at Star Shell, he told me that Assan Muhammad on that day wanted to speak to me.
Prosecutor: When did you receive the call? Mwamba: that was about 2015, I met Muhammad and we discussed business, he later on brought a matter of motor vehicles which were not registered and asked me if I would be interested to register one of his motor vehicles in my company name. He said that he would want to sell those vehicles in future, I got interested in the business and I requested him to register his Toyota Hilux in my company name. I gave him the PACRA papers and after few months towards 2016, I went to him to find out if those vehicles were registered and where they were. He told me that the vehicles were taken by the PF, then he told me that after the 2016 elections he would take me to see someone if I could buy off the vehicles. After the elections in 2016, when I made a follow up, he did not take me to the person he talked about and informed me that he would tell him later.
Few months later I received a phone call from Lusaka Centra Police asking about a Toyota Hilux in white in colour registration number BAD 5864, he told me that the people who had the vehicles around Kabangwe Ten Miles got drunk and started fighting …. Defence lawyer, Jonas Zimba interrupts.. Zimba: My Lord, we have issues, in so far the relevance, this particular matter (issues raised by witness) not covering matters that are before court.
Prosecutor: We are raising the foundation Judge Charles Zulu: Will allow the witness to proceed Prosecutor: Proceed, what did you do? Witness: I rushed to Star Shell to inquire who was with the vehicle, and Mr. Assan Muhammed gave me the number of Amos Chanda, an employee at State House. I called the officer and gave him the number for Amos and was told they will handle the issue administratively. I received another call from Police Headquarters and the same officer asked about the same vehicle. This time he wanted to know who was driving the vehicle in Bauleni, he said people who had a vehicle started fighting after they got drunk and later started shooting and sped off. Prosecution: What did you do?
Mwamba: When I heard that the vehicles where with PF, I went to see the PF secretariat, I met the SG Davis Mwila, I met him in the presence of madam Mumbi Phiri with Sunday Chanda. Then Mr. Davis Mwila advised me to put my concern in writing which I did. Mr. Mwila then called a Mr. Soko on phone and asked him if he could facilitate change of ownership of vehicles from my name to someone, I was informed that it would be done. Since them I never received any notification and I assumed the change was done. Not until 2021, in November, I received a call from police Headquarters asking me about the same vehicle. It was at that point I realised they never changed ownership. The police interrogated me about how the vehicles were registered in my name, they visited a place where the vehicle came from. At no point did I ever see the vehicles or white books. I was later told by police that the vehicle was found in a crime. Prosecutor: You said you were advised to put it in writing? (Prosecutor shows Mwamba the letter) Mwamba: Yes, this is a letter I wrote, this is my signature and phone number. Defence lawyer
Charles Changano: The law on production of evidence is based on two things, custody and authenticity, the witness has not told this court whether the letter was in his custody, he can write it…we have just seen it from the desk of the state now, he has not laid the foundation about who wrote it and who kept it, we don’t know whether the letter was in the custody of the police or him, it is in that line of custody my lord that we object to this evidence. Yes my lord I agree with the principle of Kajara and Nobbu…. Prosecution: The law of evidence in the production of evidence require that it should be produced by the author or (someone) in custody and the witness is the one who authored the letter. He is capable to producing the document, we pray that the document be presented by this court as it was done by the witness.
Changano: in this matter we are talking about the author did he had custody of the letter, the state has not state that? Court rules The discretion of admitting evidence is on the Court, there is substantial satisfaction, the witness is the one who authored. I allow it. P1.
Cross Examination Changano: Frank Mwamba, have you have come to this court merely to talk about the vehicle registered in your name? Mwamba: yes my Lord Changano: and you told this court that the vehicle was involved in a crime, I heard you say that Mwamba; a Police officers told me that. Changano: did police tell you the crime Mwamba: no Changano: will agree with me that in this matter before this court you know nothing Mwamba: yes, I know my Lord. Changano: Do you know that the matter before court is murder? Mwamba: I know nothing about the murder in Kaoma. Second Defence lawyer cross examining Mwamba. Jonas Zimba: Witness you have talked about registering the company. Mwamba : Yes my Lord Zimba: You have not submitted before this court documents in support of your claims that you are the one that registered the company and you are among the directors’ shareholders Mwamba: No my Lord Zimba: In the absence of those documents, it will be difficult for this Court to believe that you are shareholder: Mwamba: Maybe Zimba: The narration you have given here today, it doesn’t form part of the statement you gave to the police? Mwamba: I don’t think so. Zimba: have you been to the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to answer on vehicles registered … MWAMBA: Yes Zimba: You told the police that you don’t know anything about the vehicles Mwamba: No Zimba: You told this court that you allowed him to register your vehicles in your company name Mwamba: Yes my Lord. Zimba: let’s move on In your narration in this court, you have talked about phone calls to police Mwamba: Yes my Lord Zimba: You have not mentioned any name of police who called you Mwamba: No, just kept number and not name: Zimba: Witness do you know a company called bellam trading Mwamba : Yes Zimba: Witness do you remember you are the one who started taking police showing them about vehicles, who was running Bellam? Mwamba : No Zimba: Did you do any works of Bellam Mwamba : Yes Zimba: Was he your friend? Mwamba: Yes Zimba: You betrayed your friend Mwamba: No Zimba: Are you saying that because betraying a friend is a bad this Mwamba: Yes Zimba: And you don’t want to be associated with it Mwamba: No Makebi Zulu ; You mentioned that you spoke to police twice Mwamba : Yes Makebi: You have not brought those numbers before Court Mwamba: No Makebi: You cannot confirm what they told you whether it is true or not, what you were told about the kabangwe? Mwamba: Yes Makebi: You can’t confirm the phone number Mwamba: No Makebi: Are you able to confirm that the Bauleni incident was true Mwamba: I was not there. Makebi: You mentioned that you agreed that 2 vehicles registered in your company name, what is the registration of the second vehicle? Mwamba: I don’t know. I was just told the registration number but I didn’t see it. Makebi: Did you bother to go to RTSA Mwamba: Yes I did Makebi: You have not brought the print out Mwamba: No Makebi: Have you brought any evidence about the fines Mwamba:No Makebi: It is also true you don’t know who had the vehicles (in question) Mwamba: No Makebi: You said you were given the number for Amos Chanda Mwamba: Yes Makebi: Have you come with that number? Mwamba: No, I had it on the phone. Makebi: Where is the original of the ID 2, (Certificate of Incorporation of the Company) Mwamba: I left it at the office Makebi: Is it available? Mwamba: Yes Makebi: In conclusion, is that the substance of the matter is what was told to you… Mwamba: Not told but also what I saw. Makebi: What did you see? Mwamba: I saw the photo copy of the vehicle. Makebi: The only thing you saw was the registration of the vehicle. You have not brought it Mwamba: No.

FINANCE minister Situmbeko Musokotwane says fuel price increase after the reinstatement of VAT and excise duty is not as high as people anticipated.
On Nansanga Farming Block which he began under the Rupiah Banda regime, he said “if I had been there Nansanga would have been a different story altogether. So thank God I am back. Now we have the money”. Speaking when he featured on ZNBC’s Sunday Interview, Dr Musokotwane, who on Friday proposed unveiled a K167.3 billion 2023 budget, said fuel would only hit the K28 or K30 mark if there is an increase on the international market and not because of the VAT and excise duty.
“Yes this is the fear but I must also say that you have seen that the increase is not like what people said. There are people who were saying the price of diesel and petrol will go to K28, some were even saying K30. Has it gone to that? No it has not,” he said. “If it goes up, it will not be because of taxes. It will be because where the oil is coming from the prices have gone up. Some people are saying the customs duty is going to come on this. There will be customs duty. There are only two taxes – Value Added Tax and the Excise Tax and as you can see the increase is far away from what people were saying.” Dr Musokotwane said the taxes the government was collecting from Zambians would be put to good use.
“All these things that we have talked about, providing support to our aged in the rural areas, the [social] cash transfer, the issue of paying for school children up to grade 12, the issue of pushing more money into the rural areas, it is this money and of course other sources. So yes we are paying taxes but this government is not using this money for flamboyant expenses. We are getting money from you like what we do in cooperatives. But then we give it back to you so that we can send our children to school, we can have water, the classrooms. So it is our money that is working. The money we are paying on fuel taxes,” he said. And Dr Musokotwane said the removal of meal allowances by the PF was unfortunate.
“I know some of the children who are coming out of these rural constituencies from very poor families that sometimes can even hardly afford to feed themselves. So if a child like that comes to Lusaka, especially a girl child, and you say ‘we will just give you tuition, but food feed yourself’ what are you saying?’ My dream, our dream is that as the economy begins to pick up more jobs will be created. Then we can have a situation like what we see in other countries where students during their spare time, they can go and wash dishes in the restaurants. They can be waiters, they can be salespeople in shops. We have seen this with universities abroad where we were studying,” he said. “The loans under the loan scheme also is increased. So we have done both but it was also necessary to do this.”
Dr Musokotwane said the government would generate the money to fund the budget within the budget. “This is not magical money falling from somewhere. These are part of the budget. So contrary to those who were saying that with IMF in place we will not be able to hire teachers, we will not be allowed to hire nurses, we have hired them. We will not be allowed to provide bursaries to children, we are doing so,” he said. Dr Musokotwane however said the government would borrow “soft loans”.
“Borrowing is a continuous process but what we are saying is you cannot stop abruptly. For example, these projects that are close to completion what will be the logic in stopping them if we can still borrow a little bit of money? So those must continue. That means of course that the borrowing must increase. Now these new loans that we are getting, they differ from the ones that were acquired before in the sense that these are concessional loans. Concessional means they are on softer terms. Typical loan that you get now; there is a grace period of five years. In other words, you don’t pay anything for five years when you acquire the debt then the interest rate is very low. Sometimes half a per cent. In some cases zero per cent like the money that we getting from IMF, there is no interest on it as well. Then the repayment is long term,” he said.
Dr Musokotwane said he was happy that after the slackened progress of Nansanga Farming Block which he began under the Rupiah Banda regime, would now be revamped including many others which the government plans to open up.
“If I had been there Nansanga would have been a different story altogether. So thank God I am back. Now we have the money and $300 million. So already we are looking at various places together with the Minister of Agriculture [Reuben Mtolo Phiri] and by the way this is not only an agriculture issue. A number of ministries will be involved. The Minister of Energy [Peter Kapala] must come and seen how he is going to provide power in this area,” he said. “The Minister of Infrastructure [Charles Milupi] must come in and see how we are going to plan the roads in these farm blocks. The Minister of Water [Mike Mposha] must come in. Communication comes in, even education and health. We are talking at creating new towns based on agriculture.”
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni fired his son as commander of the nation’s infantry forces Tuesday after the son tweeted an unprovoked threat to capture the capital of neighbouring Kenya, drawing widespread concern in East Africa. Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, dubbed ‘the tweeting general’ of Uganda, in recent months had sparked anger among some Ugandans who see his frequent posts on Twitter as provocative and sometimes even dangerous.
He has tweeted in support of the Tigray rebels fighting Ethiopian federal troops. He’s voiced support for violent rebels fighting in eastern Congo. He said all Africans support Russia in its war in Ukraine. Bizarrely, he recently said he was offering 100 long-horned cattle — apparently as bride price — for Italy’s incoming female prime minister.
Some of Kainerugaba’s supporters say his tweets are attempts at humor and shouldn’t be taken seriously. But many others see a bigger problem. As an army officer, he is constitutionally barred from engaging in partisan politics and some Ugandans point out that any other soldier tweeting like Kainerugaba would be court-martialed.
“It wouldn’t take us, my army and me, 2 weeks to capture Nairobi,” he tweeted Monday.
That threat to seize the capital of Kenya went too far for his father, an authoritarian leader who has held power since 1986.
Kenyan President William Ruto, who took power last month, is friendly with Museveni, whom he described as the region’s “father” during his inauguration.
Kainerugaba’s tweets exasperated many Kenyans, and the foreign minister tweeted Tuesday that he had a meeting with the Ugandan ambassador. Uganda’s foreign ministry dismissed Kainerugaba’s tweets in a statement that spoke of a “harmonious relationship that we value.”
Kainerugaba, the pillar of his father’s personal security apparatus, has been the de facto head of Uganda’s military, with his allies strategically deployed in command positions across the security services, according to observers. Although he was sacked from his post as head of Uganda’s infantry forces, Kainerugaba still was promoted to a four-star general and will remain a military adviser to his father, according to a statement issued by the military Tuesday. He was replaced as infantry commander by Lt. Gen. Kayanja Muhanga.
Many Ugandans believe Kainerugaba is being groomed to replace Museveni as president, allegations the president has long denied.
Kainerugaba’s associates describe him as a dedicated military officer who often eschews ostentatious displays of power and wealth. He attended military schools in the U.S. and Britain before taking charge of a presidential guard unit that has since been expanded into an elite group of special forces.- ctvnews
