UPND Tribalism is as bad as the PF Tribalism and it should not be tolerated- Saboi Imboela

Saboi Imboela
If this list is true then we have a serious problem on our hands. UPND Tribalism is as bad as the PF Tribalism and it should not be tolerated. We need to have leaders that will really change and heal this country and not just changing the colours of problems we had from green to red and now even worse in some areas.

34. Officer In Charge KKIA . Mubita – Lozi.

17 of the above are new appointments and transfers done between 10th and 18th August.

In a more serious insight, Moonde Evans who four months ago was demoted not on political grounds but because of his mischief and wrong doings, bounces back to office as PIO Human Resource (HQ Lusaka).

The said (Moonde Evans) officer, was not demoted by PF government but the UPND government after his case passed through Ministry of Home Affairs and his demotion was deemed fit for him. However, today the same person who has been on disciplinary since is promoted and taken to Immigration Headquarters without any reformatory. The question is, has he proved within four months that he has reformed and fit for duty? Moreover, his ID was given to someone else, can the Immigration Director General clarify which post ID he has been promoted on.

Assuredly, such happenings will soon be seen in all the departments as it seems they chose to start with a silent department like Immigration.

The Home Affairs Minister should come out in public and explain this because he is the person behind all this fracas. Does it mean in this department there are no other tribes who can take up the mantle of leadership apart from tribes we are seeing?

This has never happened in the history of immigration but only under the UPND leadership and it has happened too early. We have been well informed that all these Regional Immigration Officers are under serious instructions to go and sweep (make changes) from officers-in-Charge level to Provincial level once they report.

QUICKLY TAKE KATANGA TO COURT
…instead of trying her in media, lawyers asks DEC

By Kombe Mataka

FORMER deputy inspector general of police Charity Katanga’s lawyer hopes his client will be prosecuted as quickly in the same manner Drug Enforcement Commission took her matter to the media.

Isaac Simbeye told The Mast that DEC had been quick in taking every little thing they were doing to the media.

Simbeye said he would not discuss the offence on which his client was arrested for but prayed for justice.

“In the first place, we do not discuss these cases with the media. I just hope the way they have been quick in arresting her and making statements that they will be quick enough to take her to court so that the law can take it’s course instead of trying her in the media,” said Simbeye.”They are trying her using the media. That is unfortunate but we hope she will appear in court and will have a fair trial despite the stance taken by DEC of publicising the little things they are doing.”

DEC spokesperson Mathias Kamanga, in an interview, said Katanga was arrested because she could not account for properties in her custody.

“In this case, the charge is under section 71 of the forfeiture of proceeds of crime Act. This is where you first of all find the property. We try to do what we call a Net Worth Analysis. This is when we look at all your known sources of income. How much do they amount to at a particular period. If I have worked for five years and all my income is coming to 2.5 million and then I have property in the same period that is worth maybe 10 million, then we need to question ‘where is the difference coming in?’’ he explained. “If you are failing to account they will arrest you for being in possession of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime. We may not really know what crime you were committing but the fact that we found you with properties that you cannot account for.”

Kamanga said Katanga would appear before court by next week once the Director of Public Prosecutions conclude it’s processes.

On Friday, the DEC through its Anti-Money Laundering Investigations Unit (AMLIU) has arrested Katanga for being in possession of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds.

“Charity Masambo Katanga, aged 45, of Plot Number 401a/611 in Makeni, has been arrested for being in possession of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime valued at US D2,030, 000.00 and K1,522,005.00 contrary to Section 71 of the forfeiture and proceeds of crime Act No. 19 of 2010 of the laws of Zambia,” announced the DEC. “Particulars of the offence are that Charity Masambo Katanga jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown, on dates unknown but between 1st January, 2017 and 6th June, 2022 in Lusaka Province, did buy 10 Higer buses at the purchase price of US D203,000.00 each using funds reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime. The commission has seized the buses and also cash in her company bank account in the sum of K1,522,005 money reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime. The suspect is on Police bond and will appear in court soon.

Lusambo says he had oral agreement with

Lusambo says he had oral agreement with
Zamtel to deduct rentals from cost of repairs

By Mwaka Ndawa

FORMER Kabushi PF member of parliament Bowman Lusambo claims that he had an oral agreement with ZAMTEL chief executive officer Dr Mupanga Mwanakatwe to use his own money and refurbish the dilapidated house which was rented to him by the telecommunications company, on a condition that the same would be deductible from the monthly rentals.

Lusambo is reclaiming K2,050,327.80 from ZAMTEL which he spent on repairing the house.

This is in a matter where Zamtel sued Lusambo for non-payment of rentals amounting to K590,000.

Zamtel charged that Lusambo has been a problematic tenant as he has neglected to pay rentals after it refused to pay him K2 million for the cost of repairs which he made to the house without its approval.
In an affidavit in opposition to an affidavit in support of originating notice of motion, Lusambo said he entered into a lease agreement with Zamtel for house no. 68 Kabelenga Road, Ndola on April 24, 2017 which was signed after he had already effected renovation works on the property.
Lusambo said he took possession of the property between August 2016 and October 2016 and at the time of taking possession, the house was in a deplorable state as it was deserted for a very long time.

He said based on the oral agreement which he had with Dr Mwanakatwe he proceeded to rehabilitate the house and the works were concluded between December 2016 and January 2018 and he moved into the house in January 2018.

“It was only after I had completed the renovation of premises that ZAMTEL proposed that we execute a lease agreement and the said lease agreement was only executed on April 24, 2017,” he said.

“The renovation I effected on the property amounted to K2,050,327.80 and that on December 17, 2017 and January 29, 2018 I did communicate to ZAMTEL via letter correspondence where I demanded that they settle the K2,05,0,327.80 or alternatively, offer to sell to me the said property.”

Lusambo said Zamtel rejected his demands for payment of the sums due to him and the request to purchase the property in a letter dated January 13, 2018.

“The applicant in rejecting my proposal drew my attention to provisions of the lease agreement which provided that as a tenant, I could not effect any renovation to the premises without prior consent from the landlord, being the applicant herein,” Lusambo said. “Zamtel resorted to rely on the lease agreement which had been executed after renovation works had commenced and concluded following my initial oral discussions and understanding with them.

He said efforts to resolve the dispute which had ensued proved futile as Zamtel was determined to negate its earlier position to allow him to renovate the property and instead maintained that the lease agreement which came much later should be a guiding document despite the fact that he had already effected substantial renovations to the property.

Lusambo said he is entitled to a refund of all funds spent on repair and Zamtel is stopped from forgoing its earlier agreement and that if allowed to do so it would amount to unjust enrichment on its part.

He said he uplifted the property as the same is what was agreed upon with Zamtel and the clause which it now seeks to rely on was introduced after renovation works had been concluded.

“The agreement I had with Zamtel was that the cost of renovation effected by myself would offset any accrued rental arrears,” said Lusambo.

GOVERNMENT SHOULD COMPENSATE CHINGOLA RESIDENTS WHOSE HOUSES WERE DEMOLISHED – KAUNDA

GOVERNMENT SHOULD COMPENSATE CHINGOLA RESIDENTS WHOSE HOUSES WERE DEMOLISHED – KAUNDA

……says the matter should have been handled in a humane way

Lusaka…. Monday, August 22, 2022 (Smart Eagles)

Why should the government see it necessary to preserve that space for the airstrip and sacrifice the investment which our poor people have been able to put up over the years, Kelvin Kaunda laments.

The Socialist Party (SP) National Chairperson in charge of Youths and Security bemoaned the demolishing of houses in Chingola for the poor residents by the government.

Mr Kaunda is saddened that a government which promise to protect its people would wake up and in a blink of an eye, demolish the houses belonging to the poor people.

He wondered why the houses in Forest 27 haven’t been demolished yet the poor have been left without shelter.

“The question which begs answers is why is it that the houses in forest 27 have not been demolished? Is it because those occupying those houses belong to a particular class? Is it because the owners of those houses belong to an elite class? Why is it that the houses for the majority poor in Chingola have been demolished? Is it because they are poor? We have been given a reason to understand that the only reason these houses were demolished is because they were built in a reserved airstrip,” he said.

“Who is going to benefit from this airstrip? Can our people in Chingola afford an air ticket even? Can they afford an aircraft? So if the people in Chingola themselves they don’t see the need to have an airstrip within their vicinity, why should the government see it necessary to preserve that space for the airstrip and sacrifice the investment which our poor people have been able to put up over the years?”

Mr Kaunda however demanded that government should compensate all the victims.

He said the act by government to demolish the poor people’s houses is evil adding that it must be condemned by all well-meaning Zambians.

“Is this government telling us that they have no interest for the poor people in this country? We want answers from this government. As Socialist Party Youths, we are demanding that government should be able to compensate these families without exceptions,” he said.

“Surely, in the face of these harsh economic realities, how then can you even think of taking away a roof for your neighbor. Let His Excellency the President who promised the Zambian people in 2014 that there is a much more humane way of dealing with these issues if confronted with such kind of challenges.”

Mr Kaunda lamented that “if this country is not safe for any of us, it can never be safe for all of us to live in.”

He wondered how government would claim they are a government for all Zambians yet some people are left in the cold.

“Let him come out and tell us what is it that has changed. The President in 2014 condemned these kind of acts. So what is it that has changed? Is it because now he has an aircon in his office that he has forgotten about the promises he made to the Zambian people?”

“Surely, if this country is not safe for any of us, it can never be safe for all of us to live in. If our neighbor has no shelter, how can we safely say it’s One Zambia One Nation? When other families are meant to spend a night in the cold and then you claim to be a government of the people. We feel that this government would have handled this matter in a much more humane way,” he said.

PF Allege That President Hichilema Is Not Being Truthful About Presidential Fleet

PF Allege That President Hichilema Is Not Being Truthful About Presidential Fleet.

Patriotic Front acting president Given Lubinda says President Hakainde Hichilema has made scandalising of the former ruling party his number one priority.

Lubinda says President Hichilema’s recent pronouncement that he rejected a requisition of $1.3 million for State House to purchase new fleet was clear manifestation of his obsession with the desire to destroy the Patriotic Front.

Lubinda says President Hichilema has made it his daily bread to blame and accuse PF for all his lies and failed promises.

“While meeting district and local government authorities, Mr Hichilema made wild allegations against President Edgar Lungu and the Patriotic Front. The man claimed that he refused to append his signature to purchase presidential motor vehicles worth $1.3 million dollars which he alleges was approved by his predecessor, Edgar Lungu.

“The aim of Mr Hichilema’s unfounded claims is to make right thinking Zambians believe that he is a prudent manager of national resources and make President Lungu appear as a reckless and extravagant man who was squandering public resources self aggrandisement,” he said.

Lubinda says the PF Central Committee has resolved to expose President Hichilema for his wild claims and make it clear to the public that the Head of State lied when he claimed that he refused to append his signature to purchase new presidential motor vehicles. Here are the fact.

“1) the approval and purchase of motor vehicles is purely a preserve of the Special Division and the Zambia Police. The President has nothing to do with the purchase of presidential vehicles.

“2. The President is NOT a procurement officer; there is NOWHERE were the President’s signature is required in the purchase of presidential or government vehicles. To claim otherwise is a pure lie.

“3. Zambians must be made aware that contrary to his posturing as a prudent manager of our resources, President Hakainde was bought a new fleet of presidential vehicles which he is using. He is not using the old vehicles that President Edgar Lungu was using as he has been trying to make our people believe,” he said.

Lubinda says all senior Government officials including Ministers and State House officials have bought brand new vehicles that they are currently using.

“Further the recently approved Supplementary Budget included purchase of brand new luxury vehicles for several government officials,” he said.

Lubinda says State House does not need renovations but doing so was an unnecessary expense.

BoZ Governor Gets Constitutional Protection

BoZ Governor Gets Constitutional Protection

Lusaka 22.08.22 President Hakainde Hichilema has signed into law a new legislation that will protect the Central Bank Governor and his deputies from being fired without valid reasons.

The new law – Bank of Zambia (BOZ) Act No. 5 of 2022 – will require the President to setup a three-man tribunal headed by Judge or former Judge to probe any allegations leveled against the Bank of Zambia (BOZ) Governor or his deputies before being sacked from their positions.

“The President shall remove the Governor or Deputy Governor from office if the tribunal recommends to the President that the Governor or Deputy Governor should be removed,” reads section 13(7) of the Act.

Other two members of the tribunal should be persons with knowledge and experience in the field of central banking or economics, finance, law or any other field that is related to Central bank.

Unlike in the past where President could fire the Governor without reasons, the new law states that Governor and his deputies can only be sacked for “gross misconduct, incompetent, bankrupt” or if he is convicted and imprisoned for a term of not less than six months.

In short, the Governor and his deputies have been given security of tenure like that of the judges and the DPP so that they can perform their functions without interference.

The new BOZ Act came into effect few weeks ago following the assent by President Hakainde. The law was recently unanimously passed in Parliament and was only waiting for the presidential assent to become law.

The new BOZ Act has also put the tenure of office of the Governor as six years, which will be renewable for further term of six years.

The passing of this law follows the Constitution amendment of 2016, which among other things, restricted the position of Governor to few professionals. Under Article 214 of the Constitution, only person who is an economist, banker, accountant, finance or lawyer or a field related to banking can be appointed Governor of BOZ.

The new law has replaced the 1996 BOZ Act and it looks progressive and has interesting and innovative provisions that will enhance the performance and independence of the bank.

With these new amendments, politicians will have difficulties to interfere with the operations of the bank.

Lusaka man with “disappearing powers” loses marriage

A MAN in the nation’s capital with monthly disappearing powers inspired by his salary has lost his marriage of six years.

It is reported that 42-year old Sonny Siwale of Garden Compound does not need the dark forces of black magic to become invisible to the eyes of his wife and three children but that all he requires is to receive an SMS notification on his mobile phone, informing him that his salary has hit his bank account.

Siwale then vanishes from his matrimonial home and reappears at the house of his side chick where he camps until the last coin of his earnings is spent.

After running broke, Siwale then staggers back to his poverty-stricken matrimonial home in a drunken stupor using his hoarse voice to sing Yo Map’s hit song ‘Mr Romantic’.

For most of the time, Siwale’s disappearing acts means his wife Hellen Chewe aged 38 and the couple’s three children go hungry for days.

Unamused and fed up of Siwale’s unmagical disappearances, Hellen decided she had come to the end of her matrimonial journey with her spouse and petitioned the Lusaka Boma Local Court to end her marriage.

“Every time it’s month end my husband leaves home for a week to his girlfriend’s house and only comes back after finishing the money,” Hellen complained to the court.

She said the times Siwale does not disappear, his usual arrival back home is midnight and instead of going to sleep, wakes up everyone in the house to take them through military drills which include, marching, press ups and frog jumps.

In response to the divorce petition, Siwale defended his disappearing acts saying they were meant to punish his boastful and loudmouthed wife who usually bragged that she could manage to care for the family without him.

Siwale said another reason he was in the habit of leaving home for days was to outsource bedroom pleasures which Hellen denied him whenever the couple had a misunderstanding.

Further, Siwale said Hellen was in the habit of raising her high pitched voiced for all neighbors to hear whenever the couple had a quarrel, something he found embarrassing.

Ruling on the matter, Senior Local Court Magistrate Lombe Chibesakunda divorced the couple on grounds that the two parties lack seriousness.

The Magistrate ordered Siwale to maintain his wife for twelve months with K500 which he could stop paying if she married before the twelve months.

Judge Chibesakunda also ordered Siwale to maintain the three children with K1500.

Lt Gen Sikazwe heads to Turkey, asked to help end Ukraine war

Lt Gen Sikazwe heads to Turkey, asked to help end Ukraine war

By Fanny Kalonda

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has appointed former army commander Lieutenant General William Sikazwe as Ambassador designate to Turkey.

Others are former Livingstone Central UPND member of parliament Mathews Jere to head the mission in Tanzania while former Katombora UPND member of parliament Derrick Livune becomes Ambassador to Zimbabwe.

Swearing the trio at State House yesterday, President Hichilema asked Lt Gen Sikazwe to help resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
He said Zambia wants to be part of the solution as the country does not support war stressing that “instability anywhere is instability everywhere”.

“The specific assignments that have been accorded to you by the Zambian people, Ambassador to Turkey General Sikazwe, and honourable Jere to be High Commissioner in Tanzania, and Hon Livune to be Ambassador in Zimbabwe next door. Being an ambassador in Turkey is an important role. It is a rare opportunity to serve the people of Zambia. General Sikazwe, you have been in public service for a long time. I think you joined as a young person. You see service and the meaning of service to the people. You have been in harms’ way before but you continue to offer your service to the people. Turkey is very important nation you are going to. Its geo-position. Asia, Europe, it’s been a route to deal with migration from Asia or Middle East into Europe,” he said.

“And Turkey was involved in various agreements to help stabilise that region. And you are going to a country which has made a lot of economic strides, in agriculture, in construction, infrastructure. Just a few weeks ago we found Turkish businesses working in Tanzania. I think some people are not aware of the advances that Turkey has made and we ourselves are working on continuing the relationship with Turkey in a manner that will enhance the benefits that Zambians derive from there and you will be sitting at the centre of that. You will be going to Turkey when the Ukraine-Russia war is ragging. Loss of human life, property but also trade. The challenges that have arisen, arising, from that war are many. In addition to the loss of life and property is the increase to crucial commodity prices such as food, petroleum, fertilizer. So your going there is to contribute to the part of the solution. Zambia wants to be part of the solution. We don’t support war. We have said it before, instability anywhere is instability everywhere. We had evacuated a lot of our citizens there and it costs money which was never budgeted for. It’s the same example of how conflicts create problems. So, now we have to deal with increased fuel prices almost making it difficult for us to manage our macro variables because of the cost push on the fuel. The time is very hard to keep the cost manageable. So as you go there, diplomats, let us engage and work with foreign affairs minister and work with the government here to ensure that we can assist in whatever small way in bring that conflict to an end like yesterday. So that we can retain to normal within those areas and also the negative impacts or impact of the war can be ameliorated.”

President Hichilema asked Lt Gen Sikazwe to deal with the corruption at Zambia’s embassy in Turkey.
He said the diplomat was well selected because of such issues adding that the country needs strong people in such places.
“You are aware right now that our embassy in Turkey, there, became a conduit for corruption. You are very much aware of that and we would like that to come to an end and to facilitate so support Ministry of Foreign Affairs to spot the oversight institutions here whatever work they need to do in there,” he said. “The separation must always be there. Public resources must always serve the public and private resources, private. I thought I should say these things to you and the reason you are going there. You were well selected remember because of those issues. We need a strong person. A person who understands the meaning of service to citizens. A person who was going through difficulties, you are one. You will do well there, keep in touch.”

On Jere, he urged him to ensure trade and investment come in the country.
He urged him to relate with Tanzanians in the manner that would add value to citizens adding that the one-stop boarder post at Nakonde is realised.

“Tanzania is very important to us. I was there not long. We want to revive, modernise the TAZARA. The dilapidation, years of service from the seventies, remember? So it is going through challenges. TAZAMA pipeline is going through challenges. We are going at a time we are converting the TAZAMA pipeline from carrying the feedstock to carrying finished products, petroleum products. So your involvement in those issues will be very important,” he said.

On Livune, President Hichilema reminded him of economic diplomacy.
“Politics is important, relationships are very important. The more you have economic diplomacy, it will bring investment, it will actually bring investments here. There are issues there. I don’t want to return to issues legacy issues of Zambia and Zimbabwe. People cross those boarders sometimes some lose lives. We want to stabilise that situation. We are one family, Zambia and Zimbabwe,” said President Hichilema. “The message is to go out and to serve the people of Zambia and that is our duty.”

I Campaigned For Shameless Thieves, Crooks, Criminals And Corrupt Beings- PF Cadre Chanda John Chimba

0

I CAMPAIGNED FOR SHAMELESS THIEVES, CROOKS, CRIMINALS AND CORRUPT BEINGS

CHANDA JOHN CHIMBA.

UPND has 2.8 million praise singers while PF has us the 1.8 million MAZAFAKAS who foolishly worked hard to make people multi millionaires and benefited nothing other than the woods, Vitenge and tshirts and beating up innocent people.

Little did i know that all that time I was busy singing, campaigning, trying to convince people to vote for Edgar and PF, I was just making noise campaigning for corrupt people with no shame.

Only now have I realised after ACC that while we were battling it with UPND, there was this David son of a Lodge owner somewhere of my age who was home relaxed popping champagne and eating pork chops while in bed with cool $5million in account. While us the Mazafakas were trotting from one Constituency to another not even with a k100 thousand. The nigga has his father with connections to PF and keeping money.

One would wonder that If David the son of the Lodge owner has $5million in account with massive property and his mother has massive cash , Then how much does his father has? Further how much does the Children to the PF man have before we even think of his wife and himself? It’s true that PF was shameless.

Bane it bleeds my heart when I hear people say we will bounce back in 2026. Lets be realistic to ourselves and the citizens of Zambia. Lets have a heart of mercy. The damage was too much.

If you walk round the nation today, whichever beautiful structure you see you will hear it belongs to such a PF leader or his child or his wife and even his girlfriends.

While we were busy convincing people that HH is a bad man, our friends were buying ma 6 bedrooms houses for wives as Birthday presents, buying ma land cruisers on competition at will. Our friends spent ma K500,000 on condoms, beer and sex almost every weekend.

While we were suffering, being insulted, little did I know that there was money hiding in a lady in New kasama. The lady we thought was just singing. Ala lesa amipale bane. Today there is nothing i can even show off for that i was in PF, i was close to who and who including the President. How was I blind to see that those close to state house were getting rich everyday.

There is nothing like political persecution by DEC and ACC, let the people of this country know the true. Surely we were taught a lesson by God.

The question then is How did President Lungu fail to know what was happening?, How President Lungu didn’t know that his close association had over 150 properties each, had huge money in bank accounts, their wives, children, girlfriends had named properties and huge money? How was the President not able to see?

Anyway life goes on. Lets see how far ACC and DEC will go. Lets see the shocking events.

I will not win with 50% +1 BUT 60 PERCENT – President Edgar Lungu

0

…I will not win with 50% +1… BUT 60 PERCENT

11th June, 2021.

PRESIDENT Edgar Chagwa Lungu has boasted that come 12th August, 2021 he will not only exceed the required 50 percent plus one but will safely bag 60 percent of the Zambian vote.

Delivery a vote of confidence instilled in him probably by multitudes of crowds thronged his motorcade, and passive walk in Chipata, President Lungu on Breeze FM conclusively said he will win this year’s election with at least 60 percent of the votes because Zambians have chosen to continue with his government which has shown positive development.

President Lungu said he has carried on a mantle of good leadership and all the corners of Zambia have applauded him.

Citing various infrastructure development that have turned the face of Zambia and made services of education, health, housing, transport and so on by not only making services available but of quality, President Lungu said in all his travels across the country, the request is for a continued leadership.

“… We first embarked on infrastructure development and we did just that and now we are working on rebuilding the economy,” he said.

President Lungu cited various mechanisms that the Patriotic Front was putting in place to rebuild the economy and noted that his government which is a tried and tested government would also deliver on this promise.

He also observed that some opposition political leaders exhibit very violent characteristics that have made them very unattractive to Zambians.

“Moreover, Zambians want peace imagine I am the only one and a few others talking about peace, talking about not wanting violence in these campaigns. Yesterday, I saw some disturbing pictures on social media that were very annoying breaking vehicles, beating people in full of even one opposition leader and I know Zambians cannot vote for such a guy, Zambians love peace,” he said.

“So pano palibe chake [There is nothing for him here], so the truth of the matter is that we are winning and I have no doubt about that in my mind,” he said.

And on a very pomp note President Lungu said, “When I first came in 2015 we won by 27 000 votes and 2016 we got 100 000 plus votes, this time 2021 we are getting 60 percent votes plus… it won’t be 50 percent plus it will be 60 percent plus and if they want a recount they will even find that it was 70 plus.” he laughed off.

Mcdonald Chipenzi has warned PF that he will go to Court if Malanji, Lusambo file in nomination papers this week on Thursday

0

DARE THE LAW AND WE MEET IN COURT ON FRIDAY.

Since yeterday, some people are agitated over my move to send a warning shot to challenge the nomination of the trio adopted by PF on account of their seats being vacant due to estbalished facts of corruption, violence, malpractices, and non possession/ production of the Grade 12 academic qualification certificate.

By the fact that the Concourt upheld the High Court ruling that nullified their elections on account of corruption and malpractices, and non possession/production of a Grade 12 academic qualification certificate, using backdoors to recontest these by-elections is undermining electoral integrity and legitimacy.

The nullification of their seats proved that the trio offended the provisions of the Constitution and the prescribed code of conduct i.e.electoral code of conduct, which is not only a ground for vacating one’s seat but also an offence, punishable by law.

Art 72(2) (b) and (h) guide us all that the office of a member of parliament becomes vacant if the member acts contrary to the prescribed code of conduct in this case the electoral.code of Conduct and/or is disqualified as a result of the decision of the Constitutional court among other pieces of legislation, will be summoned to support the challenge we are drafting.

Indeed the prescribed electoral code of conduct was violated with impunity by the tro and lessons must be drawn from the nomination challenge on friday this week when we file.

So we urge the trio not to dare the law. It is the rule of law and must be respected. The rule of law has no fear or favour and is blind to such.

We are determined to invite the Constitutional Court again to interprete the trio’s eligibility to recontest the by-election after their elections were nullified on established facts that violated the Constitution and the electoral law and code.

Those claiming that I have been bought to push for electoral integrity, be assured that, *Yes am bought with a price by the blood of Jesus which he shed already for me on the Cross.

I will Never compromise on electoral credibility, legitimacy and integrity. It is my calling as i Will not allow the electoral law to be breached for fear of being called names by the same people who had called, perceived me and continue to do so to me to date and had held that views since their birth, some upto death.

It is their birthright to do what they do but now they must be assured that we are challenging their nomination in the Concourt on friday, this week, if they file successfully, whether they like it or not.

Those trying to harass, intimidate or threaten me, surely they must know by now what type of a human being am made of?

Am i a type that get scared on doing what i believe is the right thing or one who easily get silenced?

I fear defeat not death.

Can The Concourt Review And Reverse Its Own Decision On Malanji & Lusambo To Nullify Their Elections?

0

CAN THE CONCOURT REVIEW AND REVERSE ITS OWN DECISION ON MALANJI & LUSAMBO TO NULLIFY THEIR ELECTIONS?

With the insatiable appetite for the DUO to recontest their seats after the ConCourt nailed off the nullification of their election on account of corruption, violence and malpractice, and non possession/production of Grade 12 academic qualification certificate at trial stage, will the Concourt rescind its decision by allowing them to recontest when it will be petitioned under Art 52 to disqualify the duo?

I have serious doubt on this as precedence has been set already in the case of the stay on of Ministers in office against the Constitution and also the eligibility case of ECL where gymnastics were tried by many of us to sway the Court change its earlier DECISIONS on the two cases but to no avail.

The COURT stuck its guns to its earlier DECISIONS and see a non controversial decision on the duo once the court is petitioned on the eligibility of the two recontest if the ECZ decides to accept their nominations.

Should the duo decides to file in their nominations and ECZ accepts them, petitions are waiting, if not already drafted, for lodgement before the Constitutional Court to as per demands of Article 52(4).

This will be like revisiting the Concourt’s earlier decision on both and the best is for them stay away and not swayed by catcalls of them being deied justice and treated unfairly.

Mind you, the decision of the Concourt is final and non appealable

The duo made a huge political mistake to appeal to the ConCourt when they knew its decision is on their cases would be final, non appealable and that a petition under Article 52 of the Constitution is before the same Concourt.

I see the Court disqualifying both based on its earlier decision to nullifying their electons on established facts of corruption, violence and malpractice, and non possession/production of the G12 certification.

CONCOURT decisions are non appealable and final and therefore attempting to lodge in nominations by the duo is an indirect way of attempting the Concourt to review/revise its DECISION, which is impossible.

The filing in of the nominations by the duo is like appealing the earlier decision by the Concourt which is attempting it to violate the Constitution which categorically demands that the Concourt’s decision is final and non appealable.

We wait for August 25 which is just nex week for the nominations to take off and the drama to unfold.

Am not a prohet but i can see from distance that some people will be permanently disqualified to hold any public position/ poistion in the next 4 years.

I am ready to challenge and test the LAW in this case. I hate corruption more than i hate the devil.

‘This Situation Is Unique’: Marry Mubaiwa’s Mother Speaks On Daughter’s Health, Lawyer Fees, Reconciliation With VP Chiwenga

In an emotive interview, Marry Mubaiwa’s mother Helga Mubaiwa has finally spoken on her daughter’s legal issues and her deteriorating health.

Giving an update on Marry Mubaiwa’s health, she said her daughter is neither walking, talking nor eating.

Marry Mubaiwa’s mother Helga, revealed that they have so far paid her daughter’s lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa, US$20 000 in fees since 2019. She denied reports that they pay her US$7 000 per court session.

Helga Mubaiwa said they have never received an invoice from Mtetwa’s office. She said they paid the US$20 000 out of gratitude for the work she has done so far.

Speaking with HStv‘s Blessed Mhlanga at her residence in Harare, Helga Mubaiwa revealed why as a family they had, until the interview this week, stayed silent.

She said they have chosen to remain silent because they are powerless and voiceless. Helga Mubaiwa said:

Because we are powerless. We are helpless. We are voiceless.

When asked if she believes she has constitutional rights, Marry Mubaiwa’s mother said:

I don’t know about that. I don’t know whether there is anything of the sort.

When pressed on whether she was saying Zimbabweans have no constitutional rights, Helga Mubaiwa said her daughter Marry is being treated differently. She said:

No, I’m saying, personally, I have got access to health, to what have you. But I’m saying Marry is being treated differently. So it’s difficult if you’re in this situation. This situation is, I would say it’s unique.

Later on in the interview, Helga Mubaiwa refused to comment on whether there has been an effort to reconcile with Marry’s former husband Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. She also refused to give a comment on whether there have been efforts to get assistance elsewhere.

She said that she prays with Marry several times a day, even when she is not responding. Helga Mubaiwa said:

I pray with her. Even if she is not responding. I pray with her, several times a day and I just tell her to be strong and keep going on because I know the Lord is on our side and one day is one day. God will answer us.

Helga Mubaiwa said she does not believe women are treated equally in Zimbabwe and urged all women in the country to stand up for their rights.

Ukraine mocks Russia as it parades hundreds of destroyed Russian tanks on the streets of Kyiv ahead of Independence Day celebrations (photos/Video)

0

Ukraine paraded destroyed Russian tanks and armour along the streets of Kyiv on Saturday August 20, to mock Russia’s invasion as it prepares for Independence Day celebrations.

Before Saturday, the vehicles most of which were destroyed in the first weeks of the war, were set up outside the iconic St Michael’s Monastery as a reminder of Russia’s aggression.

However, on Saturday morning, they were moved by cranes and lorries to Khreshchatyk Street, in preparation for Ukraine’s independence day on 24 August.

Last year the road was the site of a large patriotic rally and military parade as a show of strength.

Russia initially planned to use the street to celebrate if it had captured Kyiv during the early stages of the war.

The Ukranian ministry of defence posted videos of Ukranians touring and taking pictures alongside the destroyed tanks and armoury.

PF Adopts Malanji, Lusambo For Kwacha And Kabushi Constituencies

0

For immediate release

20th August, 2022

The Central Committee of the Patriotic Front met today to discuss several pertinent Party and national issues.

The Central Committee made several resolutions which include but not limited to the following:

1. ADOPTIONS

Following the nullifications of the Kwacha and Kabushi constituency seats and the Lungwa District Council seat, the Central has officially adopted Hon Bowman LUSAMBO, Hon Joseph MALANJI and Mr Lawrence SHAWA as Patriotic Front candidates for Kabushi, Kwacha and Lungwa, respectively.

The Central Committee wishes to put it on record that Hon LUSAMBO and Hon MALANJI are duly ELIGIBLE and no amount of political machinations from any quarter to try to disqualify them shall be entertained.

Further, Hon Micheal Katambo has been appointed as Campaign Manager for Kabushi. He will be deputised by Hon Dr. Frank Ng’ambi and Hon. Emmanuel Mulenga.

Meanwhile, Hon. Kampamba Mulenga has been appointed as Campaign Manager for Kwacha Constituency. She will be deputised by Hon Alexander Chiteme and Hon Kalobo Pavyuma.

For the Luangwa District Council election, Hon Christopher Shakafuswa has been appointed as Campaign Manger. He will be deputised by Hon Emmanuel Tembo and Hon Japhen Mwakalombe.

2. MEETING BY PRESIDENT HICHILEMA WITH DISTRICT AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

On 16th August, 2022, President Hakainde Hichilema held a meeting with district and local authorities officials. Those in attendance included Principal Officers (116), Directors of Finance(116), Director of Engineering and Works(116), Mayors/Council Chairperson (116), Provincial Local Government Officers (10), Provincial Planners(10), Povincial (10) and Local Government Association of Zambia (4)

It has emerged that this meeting was solely to discuss the implementation of Constituency Development Fund(CDF).

The Constituency Development Fund is established by Act No.11 of 2018. The CDF Act provides for the management, disbursement, utilisation and accountability of the Constituency Development Fund. The Act further establish Constituency Development Fund Committees in constituencies and provide for their composition and functions; and provide for matters connected with, or incidental to CDF.

The attempt by President Hakainde Hichilema to circumvent the law and propose to make disbursement and composition of CDF outside the Act is GROSS VIOLATION of the law and raises serious concerns with regards the President’s appetite for doing things outside the law.

The directive by the President to have District Commissioners (DCs) sit on CDF Committees is ILLEGAL; it is not supported by any law and it shall NOT be condoned.

Further, the failure by Hichilema and his Government to disburse CDF, eight months down the line is a result of his incompetence and failure to provide leadership.

It was hypocritical and a sheer waste of public resources for Hichilema to call for a meeting with our local authorities to discuss the CDF Guidelines when his own Party and Government recently shot down a motion in Parliament to review and revise the said guidelines. The country lost over Two million Kwacha in allowances and other logistics from that one meeting, money which could have been used in providing urgent needs such as the provision of medicines in our clinics and hospitals which is actually a national emergency.

The challenge is that Mr Hichilema has very little knowledge and understanding of governance; the man thinks CDF and the Decentralisation Policy are synonymous! CDF is not decentralisation policy; it is simply an activity under decentralisation. The sooner Mr Hichilema takes time to acquaint himself with how government and statesmanship works the better for himself and all of us as Zambians.

3. AFRICOM

I wish to inform the general public that owing to the gravity and nature of the decision by the UPND Government to host AFRICOM on our soil, I on behalf of the Patriotic Front wrote to President Hakainde Hichilema and his Government to make public, the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding between our Government and the US Government with regards to AFRICOM.

Owing to Government’s failure to make the contents of the MoU public, the Central Committee has resolved to embark on peaceful public protests against the establishment of AFRICOM on Zambian soil and pursued Government to publish the contents of the MoU.

HICHILEMA’S PRONOUNCEMENTS ON THE PF AND ITS LEGACY

President Hakainde Hichilema has made scandalising of the Patriotic Front as his number one priority. His obsession with the desire to destroy the Patriotic Front has made the man to blame and accuse PF for all his lies and failed promises.

While meeting district and local government authorities, Mr Hichilema made wild allegations against President Edgar Lungu and the Patriotic Front. The man claimed that he refused to append his signature to purchase presidential motor vehicles worth $1.3 million dollars which he alleges was approved by his predecessor, Edgar Lungu.

The aim of Mr Hichilema’s unfounded claims is to make right thinking Zambians believe that he is a prudent manager of national resources and make President Lungu appear as a reckless and extravagant man who was squandering public resources self aggrandisement.

The Central Committee has resolved to expose Mr Hichilema for his wild claims and make it clear to the public that the man lied when he claimed that he refused to append his signature to purchase new presidential motor vehicles. Here are the fact;

1) the approval and purchase of motor vehicles is purely a preserve of the Special Division and the Zambia Police. The President has nothing to do with the purchase of presidential vehicles.

2. The President is NOT a procurement officer; there is NOWHERE were the President’s signature is required in the purchase of presidential or government vehicles. To claim otherwise is a pure lie.

3. Zambians must be made aware that contrary to his posturing as a prudent manager of our resources, President Hakainde was bought a new fleet of presidential vehicles which he is using. He is not using the old vehicles that President Edgar Lungu was using as he has been trying to make our people believe.

In fact, all senior Government officials including Ministers and State House officials have bought brand new vehicles that they are using.

Further the recently approved Supplementary Budget included purchase of brand new luxury vehicles for several government officials.

On rehabilitation of State House, again costs incurred arises from his own preferential decisions as Nkwazi was recently rehabilitated by the previous occupants.

On the international front, the Central Committee has welcomed the election of President William Samoe Ruto of Kenya. The Central Committee recognises Mr Ruto as a panAfricanist who is committed and loyal to the interests of Africa and not the imperialist forces and their allies.

The party has resolved to strengthen our working relationships and deepen our bilateral engagements with Mr Ruto and his governing coalition.

A Presidential Perspective On Mumbi Phiri’s Incarceration- Sean Tembo

0

Sean Tembo
A PRESIDENTIAL PERSPECTIVE ON MUMBI PHIRI’S INCARCERATION

By Sean Tembo – PeP President

1. In his commentary when he featured on a Hot FM radio program yesterday, President Hakainde Hichilema stated that the reason Mumbi Phiri was arrested and charged with murder is because she issued a statement that she was present when the alleged victim; Lawrence Banda was shot. And also that she said Lawrence Banda was shot because he had tried to grab a hand bag.

2. Well, if what the President said is the only evidence which the State has against Mumbi Phiri, then why was she arrested and charged with murder? Because at the most, her alleged statement makes her a witness to the alleged crime, and not an accessory or a perpetrator.

3. President Hakainde Hichilema went on to say that Mumbi Phiri should have been arrested way before the UPND ascended to power, because she had admitted to being present when Lawrence Banda was shot. Is the President now telling us that merely being present when an alleged murder is taking place makes one a murderer too?

4. Additionally, you could see the amount of disdain in the President’s eyes when he spoke about Mumbi Phiri, which shows that he personally hates Mumbi Phiri with a passion. Suffice to mention that such apparent deep-rooted hatred by a person who wields so much power as a Republican President, against an ordinary citizen, is extremely dangerous. The President has so many avenues available to inflict pain and suffering on Mumbi Phiri, in furtherance of his hate for her.

5. Evidently, President Hakainde Hichilema decided to use his powers to cloth Mumbi Phiri with a murder charge based on very flimsy grounds, going by the evidence adduced by the President himself yesterday on Hot FM radio. It appears that the President then went on to directly or indirectly ensure that Mumbi Phiri is not taken for trial any time soon, so that she can suffer in prison as much as possible, before the courts acquit her.

6. Indeed, if the only evidence which the State has against Mumbi Phiri is what President Hakainde Hichilema stated on radio yesterday, then there is no doubt that when Mumbi Phiri is finally taken for trial, she will be acquitted. Or in order to save face, the State will enter a nolle prosequi against her. However, even when that happens, Hakainde Hichilema will still be a happy man because he would have already inflicted adequate extra-judicial punishment on Mumbi Phiri, by incarcerating her without trial for close to a year.

7. It is a shame that instead of using the power that was bestowed on him by the people of Zambia on 12th August 2021, to improve the people’s welfare, President Hakainde Hichilema is using his presidential powers to fight petty battles against his perceived enemies. Instead of pursuing development, he is pursuing vengeance. But for how long will the people of Zambia feed on Hakainde’s persecution of his opponents, given that there is a lot of hunger and growing anger among the masses due to lack of employment and increasing cost of living? Only time will tell.

Ugandan Businessman Undergoes Vasectomy After Five Kids

A Ugandan businessman, Aita Joel, has revealed he has undergone a vasectomy after having five children.

In a Twitter thread on his handle on Friday, the entrepreneur revealed that sometimes a man has to take responsibility for birth control.

He said, “VASECTOMY. After birth of kid 5, I decided to end the journey and concentrate on giving them quality life.

“At times the man has to take responsibility for the birth control and besides a good quality life for the children can only be given to a number you can manage. It’s simple.

“If you want real good education for your children, you have to pay a very good school. Definitely when a primary school charges you over 20m per term per kid. Then you need to have a number you can manage. In my case, I can manage five. Someone else can manage ten. Another less.”

In an update on Saturday, the author added, “The process is a simple OPD operation and within hours you are jumping in the car and driving off. You can also opt to store sperm in case you have wasiwasi.”

Stop Being Alarmists; It’s Not President HH Who Is After You But The Law- Percy Chanda

0

PRESS STATEMENT

20 TH AUGUST 2022

STOP BEING ALARMISTS; IT’S NOT PRESIDENT HH WHO IS AFTER YOU BUT THE LAW

We have observed of late how people like Bowman Lusambo have become so desperate by reporting himself to the Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and other Agencies about his corruption. What Mr. Lusambo must understand is that so far no Law has been broken concerning his corruption allegations. All what the UPND administration has done is to question him over his unexplained riches.

President HH respects separation of powers and so the Judiciary has been left to carry out its mandate in a professional manner. PF has refused and are still refusing that they are not thieves. They have continued blaming the UPND government for the economic mess they have left behind. PF has continued refusing that they brutalized innocent Zambians. But in Mr. Lusambo’s thinking, PF has now become the champion of human rights and good governance. Stop being alarmists; it’s not President HH who is after you but the Law.

Why do we say Bowman Lusambo is just reporting himself to International bodies and Embassies? Some of the money that was stolen by the PF thieves was donations from the same Countries he is now writing to. In 2020 the Auditors General’s Interim report showed that K1.3 billion was stolen from the Ministry of health. This is the money that was donated by the International Community to the Zambian people to help the Country mitigate the impact of the pandemic. Yet, in PF’s myopic thinking they now think the owners of such donations have forgotten.

Bwana Lusambo you cannot drag Amnesty International in a matter that is going through a legitimate Court process. Equally You can not report to the Human Rights Watch about your criminal cases that are before the Courts of Law.

In case you have forgotten President HH was incarcerated for 127 days on a trumped charge of treason. As PF you chased away the Commonwealth Secretary General, Patricia Scotland and Professor Ibrahim Gambaro in unceremonious manner. You arrogantly told these envoys that Zambia is a sovereign state. Now that you are being questioned about what you stole from the Zambian people, Zambia has ceased to be a sovereign state? You are simply displaying your immaturity and ignorance.

UPND – Chairman for Mines and Freedom Fighter

No quid pro quo in Malanji, Lusambo support – M’membe

0

By Fanny Kalonda

SOCIALIST Party president Fred M’membe says decisions by the courts on the Kabushi and Kwacha constituencies were absurd adding that his party has decided to support PF candidates without expecting anything in return but out of principles.

And party general secretary Cosmas Musumali said the SP is the fastest growing party on the Copperbelt Province.

Dr M’membe said the SP support does not mean the party is an alliance with the PF stressing that his party would not support injustice.

“Political ideas are worthless if they are not inspired by noble sentiments. Likewise, noble sentiments are worthless if they are not inspired by correct ideas, selfless ideas, just ideas, humane ideas. This country is not going to be a good place to live in for any of us if it is not a good place for all of us to live in. Our party believes in justice, equity and peace. We have principles on honesty, humility, and solidarity. Based on these values, based on these ideas, the central committee this morning (Wednesday) took a decision to act in solidarity with Hon Joseph Malanji and Hon Bowman Lusambo. We feel Hon Malanji has not been treated fairly. The decision of the Constitutional Court we don’t agree with it. And we are not the only ones. A judge of that court also disagrees with it. It’s an unfair decision. It’s an unjust decision. It’s a decision that is not humane. We are not vultures. We believe in acting in solidarity with those who have been unfairly treated,” he said. “…Those who have been unjustly treated and in accordance our party has decided not to field a candidate in Kwacha, but to support Hon Malanji in his quest to regain, to reclaim, his seat. We will campaign with him. All our structures in Kwacha will be mobilised to support his candidature. We know there are attempts to make sure that does not stand but we will…decision to the end come may. This is not a decision taken out of a tactical political move. But it is a decision that is anchored on our principles. Those who are Christians will agree with us that to be like Christ is what Christianity is about. And would ask ourselves what would Christ to do in the situation. Would he wash his hands like Pontius Pilate and say crucify Malanji? Similarly, we have looked at the situation of Hon Lusambo in Kabushi, and we feel there has been an attempt to squeeze hon Lusambo at any cost and in every aspect of his life.”

Dr M’membe said his party has principles which it would live by supporting the PF candidates Malanji and Lusambo “who have been unfairly treated by the courts”.

“This support for Hon Lusambo, for Hon Malanji, is unconditional. We ask nothing in return. I personally has never met Malanji. We do so out of principle and not out of reward. It’s not quid pro quo. We sincerely believe it was a wrong decision. It is actually an absurd decision. There is absurdity in that decision. There must be justice and justice without compassion is not justice. It’s barbarism. Again, some will say stone him, finish him off, what would Christ say in this situation? Stone Hon Lusambo to death? Equally, we will not field a candidate in Kabushi. We will support the candidature of Hon Lusambo. Again there are attempts to make sure that he like Hon Malanji should not contest these elections. We also hear that there are attempts, there are plans to charge them with unbailable offences. Theft of motor vehicle, murder, and so on so that they don’t contest or recontest these seats,” said Dr M’membe. “Again, this is injustice that we will not support. We will not wash our hands like Pontius Pilate and say ‘finish them off’. This does not mean and I emphasise it does not mean we are in an alliance with the PF. There is no alliance between us and the PF. We are simply supporting individuals who we feel they have been unfairly treated, unjustly treated, and they deserve our support. And they deserve the support of all those who believe in fairness and justice. To us this is not a happenstance decision, it is a matter of principle. We have principles which we have to live by. Yes it would benefit us to have a seat in Kwacha or Kabushi but not at the expense of justice. All our party structures will be mobilised to support the candidature of Mr Malanji and Mr Lusambo.”

And Dr Musumali said Zambian politics can learn a few things from what the Socialist Party has done adding that even where there are chances of doing well, choose principles.

He said despite the party being the fastest growing opposition party on the Copperbelt, it has chosen to support another party on principles.

“Over the past six months, we have done some considerable work. Some significant work on the Copperbelt. We have provincial structures, we have district structures. We have constituency structures, and we’re working towards ward structures in a number of areas. Our Socialist Party branches are still intact. But to these is also a rapid growth of new structures. If you talk of the fastest growing political party on the Copperbelt, that’s the Socialist Party. We have experienced huge growth on the Copperbelt. The second issue is that as soon as the problems were becoming visible in Kwacha and Kabushi, our leaders were in the forefront, they started already making recommendations in terms of who would be the most likely candidates and we have credible people that could have stood on the Socialist Party ticket. But again, we are not opportunists. We work on principles,” said Dr Musumali. “All this effort that we have put in would have gone to good use in the enhancing the visibility and even ensuring a win for the Socialist Party on the Copperbelt. But we are saying our principles are intact. Our principles are very important to us than a win. And we have reached at that decision, as the president has alluded to, not to stand. So definitely this decision that’s going to be immediately communicated to the masses is going to be communicated to our supporters, is going to be communicated to the structures. It is the principles of socialism. And we also hope that Zambian politics can learn a few things that even where you have chances of doing well, at times that’s not the most important issue. This country must be led based on values. This country must have a different culture. Winning is not everything. And that’s the message we’re also sending home with this experience, with this decision that has been taken today by the central committee.”

Meanwhile, party treasurer Dr Chris Mwikisa urged political parties to ensure they are guided by principles.

“We should be guided at all times, irrespective of what position we are in, irrespective of circumstances, we should at all times be guided by principles and our principles as Socialist Party are very clear. And in this case, as my comrades have indicated, we are going to go this way guided by our principles not by selfishness by saying, we have an opportunity now to win, let’s go and stand. But let’s stand for what is right at all times. Let’s be guided by principles, irrespective of which party we belong to. Irrespective of our associations. We must at all times uphold the principles. That’s what will save our country,” said Dr Mwikisa.

Use ZNS, leave army to its mandate – Changala

By Fanny Kalonda

BREBNER Changala says government should put its act in order as the country has a lot of challenges that needs an organised system to manage them.

Changala said President Hakainde Hichilema’s directive to the military to engage in council work because the country is not at war would need a lot of consultation and guidelines as the military is not wired to deal with civilians like the council.

On Tuesday, President Hichilema said the Zambia National Service must begin to support councils to make the work of the local authorities effective and less costly.

He said the country was not at war and that defence forces would be stopped from doing council work if war was imminent.

But Changala said the military is a disciplined force, which cannot be easily moved to mingle with the civilian administration like the local government.

“The new dawn administration must put its act together. This country has got a lot of challenges and it needs an organised system to manage and overcome those challenges. …the military is a disciplined force, which cannot easily be moved to mingle with the civilian administration like the local government. They can in matters of emergency. To move the military from the barracks, to go and carry out civil engineering in the councils and townships will need a lot of consultation, and guidelines as to how we should use the military in this time to help the challenges that the country face,” he said.

“The question that begs answers before the military moves to mend potholes and roads and other necessary construction, how much study has been done that there would be no conflict of interest for the city councils or indeed, councils around the country have got their own mandate and guidelines? These are institutions that are run by elected officials. These are the bedlock of our constitutional democracy. The military is command based. Do the work and ask the questions later.”

Changala suggested that the President looks at the Zambia National Service in the meantime and leave the army to its mandate.

He however said trying to militarise the council would not do as there may be resistance.

“…need to deal with the question of circumstance. To put it plainly, other than the Zambia Army, Zambia National Service has a department that deals in construction, specifically construction. These bridges, roads, it is highly mechanised with full of equipment. I would rather the President looked at the Zambia National Service in the meantime, leave the army to live with their mandate. And don’t mix them with civilians,” he said.“…townships, city councils, those are civic organisations. They deal with people, businessmen and other residents. So trying to militarise our councils will not do. There will be some resistance because you cannot move armed men to go and live among unarmed citizenry because the charter of military is different from the charter of city council.”

Meanwhile, Changala has called on the government to ensure they make the Constitution work for the people and allow institutions of governance to be independent.

“One of the issues I called on the new dawn administration when they assumed power was to work on the Constitution first and foremost. To make the Constitution work for the people, not the people to work for the Constitution. They should have allowed institutions of governance to be independent. We are in a situation where the entire country, is subordinate to the President. Subordinate to the Executive. The President is the chief of the armed forces, the President is the chairman of the Cabinet and Executive…” noted. Changala.

Man who killed bride on their wedding night and stuffed body in suitcase is jailed for life

0

The man who murdered his new bride just hours after they tied the knot has been handed a life sentence.

Dawn Walker’s body was found stuffed into a suitcase and “dumped” in a field near the couple’s house.

Her husband Thomas Nutt had severely injured the 52-year-old’s face and neck before he killed her, stuffed her body in a cupboard, and enjoyed a short holiday.

Nutt then phoned police to report his wife missing after he murdered her.

Neighbours originally became suspicious when they noticed Dawn’s absence in the town of Lightcliffe, near Halifax.

Locals found her body four days later.

The trial into the horror killing heard how Nutt, also 52, killed Dawn sometime between October 27 – the couple’s wedding day – and October 31, 2021, but the judge later said the killing took place on their wedding night itself.

He was found guilty of her murder earlier this month.

Today, August 19, 2022, he was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years, less 289 days he has spent on remand.

There were cheers from the public gallery as he was sentenced.

In sentencing, his Honour Judge Johnathan Rose told Nutt: “The impact of the sudden and violent death at a time which should have been filled with happiness will no doubt have an effect on those that knew her. The victim impact statements lay bare how this has been for them.”

Judge Rose branded Nutt a “bully” and said he did not accept the killer was genuinely remorseful.

He went on to explain why he believed the murder took place on the night of their wedding.

He said: “I am quite sure that is the night you killed her. She didn’t answer calls from Kiera on morning of 28th. It was said she had lost her phone in the pub. There was no way of knowing whether that was true or whether you disposed of the phone.

“I am satisfied the texts sent to Kiera at 1am were sent by you. Kiera said the text was not in the language or style of her mother and of your admission you text her pretending to be Dawn on 31st October. Malcolm Crawshaw said at 11pm that evening he heard noises, bumps and thumps. He heard no voices. This went on for about an hour before there was quiet for the rest of the night.”

Judge Rose said he was sure this was the brutal attack that took Dawn’s life. He also outlined the lengths Nutt went to to cover his tracks, including resisting pressure to ring the police at first and trying to hide the tracks left by the case he dragged her body out in.

He added: “It remains a mystery why you killed this woman who you had hours earlier took as your wife.”

Dawn had previously been to the police over an assault she suffered at Nutt’s hands but later tried to retract her statements, which Judge Rose told Nutt was “evidence of your control of a woman, even after you had used violence towards you and even after Kimberley Allcock warned her, a warning she tragically chose to ignore.”

Kimberley Allcock, who is the former partner Thomas Nutt, had previously told The Mirror how Nutt is an evil woman hater who nearly killed her too and of how she tried to warn Dawn.

Kimberley Allcock bravely tried to warn Dawn Walker after Dawn contacted her on Facebook asking why she had taken a restraining order against him.

Kimberley, 41, explained about Nutt’s brutal rages and sent photos of her injuries from a savage beating.

Dawn, 52, told Kimberley that Nutt “scared the hell out of her” but tragically, she could not persuade her to leave him. The judge referenced Nutt’s abuse towards Kimberley during the trial.

Dawn’s daughter Kiera Lee told jurors her mum had a feeling “something bad” would happen in the lead-up to her wedding and a neighbour said Dawn had messaged asking if she should “run.”

In the trial at Bradford Crown Court, Nutt admitted to killing his wife by pleading guilty to manslaughter but denied murder. However, the jury returned a unanimous verdict of guilty after a few hours of deliberation.

The judge made a small reduction to Nutt’s sentence because he pled guilty to manslaughter.

Dawn’s family cheered as the verdict was returned.

As he was led away, Nutt muttered “f*** you”.

Murder convict cries after being handed death sentence

A 23-YEAR-OLD man of Chipata’s Mchini compound wept uncontrollably after being sentenced to death for murdering a Malawian bricklayer.

Christopher Mphanza, a businessman was sentenced to death by Chipata High Court resident judge Mercy Makubalo for murdering Samson Banda.

The convict started crying after he was ushered into the court’s holding cell.

One of Mphanza’s relatives who was in court when judgment was being passed also wept after the ruling.

It took one elderly woman to stop Mphanza’s relative from crying within the court premises.

The convict murdered Banda on unknown day but between 3rd and 4th August 2021.

According to the arresting officer Philip Mwanza, he received a report of murder on August 4th 2021 while operating at Mchini police post.

Mwanza said Joseph Phiri of Kalongwezi compound reported that Sam Banda had been murdered.

“After receiving this report, I rushed to the scene, Joseph Phiri identified the body of the deceased who is a Malawian and came to Zambia to work as a bricklayer. I inspected the body and it had a deep cut on the hand and bruises. A sharp instrument was used,” he said.

Mwanza said the body was found in an unfinished building.

“I interviewed Amos Chisale who was staying with the deceased. Chisale said on 3rd August 2021 around 22:00 hours he was with the deceased. He explained that as they were going home, they met three people in Garden compound and that one of them broke a bottle on the road and they scampered in different directions,” he said.

Mwanza said local people apprehended the convict and took him to police in connection with the murder of Banda.

“People apprehended Buba Mphanza and they brought him to the police post. I then came to know him as Christopher Mphanza and I detained him. I noticed that his trousers had some blood stains,” said Mwanza.

Charles Banda, a witness, said he heard some noise outside his house and when he checked as he had a torch, he saw some people attacking the deceased and identified Mphanza.

Kenyan lady drowns in Canada while live-streaming herself swimming
Hellen Wendy, a Kenyan woman, perished in a Canadian swimming pool while live-streaming on Facebook.

Before the sad incident on Thursday, August 18, Wendy, whose Facebook page says she was a nurse residing in Toronto, Ontario, was in a good mood.

“Nimetoka job, I’m feeling good,” she said moments after she went live.

“It’s 2 o’clock here,” she said while responding to viewers in the comment section.

At exactly 5:45 minutes, Wendy took a dive in the waters several meters away from her recording gadget.

She kept taking the dives while holding her face beneath the water for several seconds before swimming back to read comments.

This went on for several minutes until the tenth minute when she took the final leap into what appeared like the deep end of the pool.

At exactly 10:33 minutes, Wendy started gasping for air as she made gurgle sounds while kicking and screaming in a futile effort to swim away from the danger zone.

At exactly 11:54, she made the last sound before it all went silent.

From this point, the camera kept rolling for 3 hours before a man came around at the 3:09 hour mark.

Two minutes later, another man came around and asked the one in the pool what was in the water.

I thought it’s a poodle or something,” the man said.

“What if it’s actually someone dead?” the other man asked.

He went round the pool and confirmed that it was indeed a person at which point he went to call the caretaker of the facility.

As at 5:30pm on Friday, August 19, the recorded live stream had over 8000 comments,7000 Likes and has been shared over 1,400 times.

Police said after the militants detonated two explosives outside the hotel, they entered the building and opened fire.

An affiliate of al-Qaeda, Al-Shabab has engaged in a long running conflict with the Somalian federal government.

The group controls much of southern and central Somalia and is now trying to control Mogadishu, the capital controlled by the government.

The attack on Friday marks the first attack in the capital by the group since Somalia’s new president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, was elected in May.

Somali security forces have surrounded the hotel and are trying to safely rescue hostages.

In a statement, the Islamist group claimed to be in control of the complex and said they “are shooting everyone”.

“Two car bombs targeted Hotel Hayat,” a police officer told the Reuters news agency in a statement.

“One hit a barrier near the hotel, and then the other hit the gate of the hotel. We believe the fighters are inside the hotel.” the officer added

Family sues Mark Zuckerberg for wrongful death of security guard who collapsed and died while guarding his Hawaii property

0

The family of Mark Zuckerberg’s security guard who died from a heart attack after walking up a steep hill is suing the Meta founder for wrongful death.

Rodney Medeiros, 70, was found with his hand on his chest while working a shift at Zuckerberg’s property at Kualoa Ranch in Kauai, Hawaii. He was rushed to hospital, and died later the same day.

He was working at the bottom of a steep hill on Pilaa Beach when it started to raining, forcing Medeiros to walk up the cliffside hill alone on August 4, 2019.

The heart attack the security guard suffered after attempting to climb the hill was so severe that it ripped a hole in his heart and he started to bleed out, according to his family.

After being approached by Zuckerberg’s security manager following his tragic death, Medeiros’ family was offered money to support funeral expenses. They declined.

But the next morning, they received a check for $7,500 as a contribution ‘given by Mark [Zuckerberg] and Priscilla [Chan].’

The family is now suing the Zuckerberg-owned company, Pila Land LLC, for negligence and wrongful death.

Ziba Medeiros, Rodney’s daughter, told Hawaii News Now: ‘It’s $7,500 for our father’s life. Is this supposed to make it OK?’

‘When he had that heart attack, it ripped a hole in his heart so he was bleeding out.’

Because of the intensity of the rain, staff was not able to pick up Medeiros via ground transport. He was found leaning against a tree holding his chest, just hours before he died.

Routinely, the retired sugar cane worker would be taken down the hill on a four-wheeler and would be brought back up the same way.

Medeiros’ heartbroken daughter said: ‘They would take him with a Kawasaki Mule and drive him to his post.

‘And then when his shift was over, they would go down and pick him up and bring him back up.’

A spokesperson for Zuckerberg’s family, Ben LaBolt, said on-site medic support was provided to Medeiros, who was transported to Wilcox Hospital.

The hospital’s cardiologist added that Medeiros’ heart attack was because of ‘the physical stress of climbing the hill was a substantial factor that caused the acute event.’

Michael Green, an attorney representing the Medeiros family, said it would have cost the ranch $1,000 to upgrade the tires on the four wheelers that would have transported him to the top of the hill.

‘It didn’t need to happen,’ Green said. ‘(He) wouldn’t have had to walk.’

He was the best example we had at the club – Former United Coach, Sir Alex Ferguson takes the stand to give evidence in Ryan Giggs assault trial

0

Former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a stand in court to give evidence in Ryan Giggs’s domestic assault trial.

The legendary ex-football boss who helped convince a teenage Giggs to join the football club, arrived at Manchester Crown Court this afternoon.

The former Manchester United manager, 80, spoke about his relationship at the club with Giggs, who is on trial charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville.

Sir Alex told Manchester Crown Court on Friday August 19, that Giggs had a “fantastic temperament”, adding: “To have a career as long as he had in a difficult position, in terms of energy, he fulfilled everything we ever wished for.”

Sir Alex said: ‘He was being compared to George Best. There was a lot of press and media attention on him. I saw him every day, I was his manager. The boy was great, he was no problem.

‘As he got older he had a wonderful temperament. In the dressing room, I used Ryan as an example a lot. I would lose my temper over performances. Sometimes he got the sharp end of my tongue. But I knew he could take it, he was strong enough.

‘Everyone in the dressing room would think, if Ryan Giggs can take it, we all can take it.’

Asked by Giggs’s barrister Chris Daw QC if he had ever seen him “lose his temper or become aggressive”, Sir Alex replied: “No.”

When asked to describe his temperament, Sir Alex replied: ‘Fantastic, wonderful temperament. To have a career as long as he did, in terms of energy and attitude he was the best.

‘He was the best example that I had. Everyone looked at Ryan as the number one.’

Giggs’ barrister, Chris Daw QC, also asked whether Giggs was a player who had ‘a number of girlfriends and lady friends?’

To which Sir Alex answered: ‘Well at that stage (his teenage years), I don’t think there was. When he was older we did dinners at the end of the season he would bring a friend with him, yeah.’

Giggs, 48, is accused of ‘headbutting’ his ex-girlfriend Kate Greville during a row at his £1.7million mansion in Worsley, Greater Manchester, in November 2020.

The ex-United star is also accused of assaulting Ms. Greville’s sister Emma during the same row and using coercive and controlling behaviour. He denies the allegations and is on trial.

This morning, the trial heard how loved-up Ryan Giggs messaged his ex-girlfriend: ‘You are the jam in my doughnut, the truffle in my pasta, and the salt in my tequila’.

In a series of toe-curling love notes, read out in court this morning, the former footballer compared ex-girlfriend Kate Greville to Fort Knox, ‘because it’s full of gold’.

The former Wales star also signed off one text to the PR executive referring to himself as ‘Giggsy’ – a nickname commonly used throughout his football career – and told her ‘reiterate is a big word for this time of day’ during an early morning texting session, the court heard.

In another exchange, Giggs told Ms Greville he had made ‘scrambled eggs a la chef Giggsy’ for breakfast, and messaged his former flame saying: ‘I think you’re fandabidozi’.

Giggs also wrote an acrostic poem using the first letters of Ms Greville’s surname, including ‘Gorgeous’ for ‘G’, ‘Vivacious’ for ‘V’ and ‘Everything I’ve Ever Wanted’ for ‘E’.

Meanwhile, Ms. Greville wrote her own explicit poetry to the ex-Premier League star, including one message which read: ‘I’m counting down the days, I’m thinking of all the ways. I’m going to make that gorgeous c*** of yours raise.’

Many of the gushing messages, read out over more than an hour and a half this morning, contained a number of kisses at the end.

Lawyers had initially read them out saying ‘kiss, kiss’ at the end of each text. But Judge Hilary Manley eventually intervened, saying: ‘Sorry to interrupt but we probably don’t need the kiss, kiss, kiss’.

The barristers, who are acting as Giggs and Ms Greville as they read out the exchanges, laughed and both agreed.

Judge Manley also intervened when one of the lawyers began reading out a message from Ms Greville to Giggs, which read: ‘I love, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.’

Judge Manley said: ‘I think ‘I love you repeated’ would do.’ She said: ‘We need to keep the gravity of this situation.’

The court heard how in February 2020, Giggs messaged Katie Harvey, who his then-partner was with.

Ms. Harvey told Giggs that Ms. Greville had broken her phone. He thanked Ms. Harvey for being so ‘kind’ to him, and said: ‘I know I can be a pest.’

She replied: ‘You are, but you love her.’

Yesterday, on day nine of the trial, lawyers read out a cringeworthy poem from Giggs to Ms Greville and shared messages in which he made grandiose proclamations of his love during the course of their rocky relationship.

In one particularly explicit poem, read out in court as part of the former footballer’s domestic assault trial, with Giggs’s 66-year-old mother Lynn present, the former Wales midfielder wrote to the PR executive: ‘My darling Kate, Unequivocally our love was fate.

‘I fell in love with you at first sight. I remember cos I was as high as a kite. Those beautiful eyes made me shiver. I’m not going to lie I think of you I dream of you. Can’t help thinking pulling you was my greatest ever coup.

‘That stomach, those abs, those pictures you send so I can keep tabs. You make me feel funny down there. Especially when you’re there and you look up and stare.

‘I am beginning to think you are always right. That’s ok it will keep us tight. I’m gonna end by saying you are my love, my friend, my soul. And most of all you believe in me which makes me as hard as a totem pole.’

Manchester Crown Court heard the father of two sent the poem on August 31, 2017 – the day the coercive control is alleged to have started.

It was sent in response to a poem from Ms Greville in which she wrote: ‘You make my heart flutter because you are a nutter. Every day you do me proud not just because you are well endowed.’

The court also heard how, during their ‘toxic’ six-year on-and-off relationship, Giggs wrote several texts making strong declarations of love.

In one, the ex-football star, who made 632 appearances in England’s top division, wrote: ‘I love you to the next planet those clever f at Nasa finds. Plus all my Premier League appearances, which is a lot. Love you baby.’

The ex-Premier League star is accused of assaulting Ms Greville – who claims Giggs ‘deliberately’ headbutted her – during the incident at his home in November 2020.

He is also accused of assaulting Ms. Greville’s sister Emma – who was dog sitting on the night of the incident and who claims Giggs elbowed her after she tried to intervene.

Giggs denies the charges, as well as using controlling and coercive behaviour towards Kate during their ‘toxic’ six-year on-and-off relationship, and is currently on trial at Manchester Crown Court.

‘I’m getting f****d tonight’ – Woman who claims she was raped three times by Benjamin Mendy in locked room ‘messaged friend’, court hears

0

A woman who claimed she was raped three times by Manchester City star, Benjamin Mendy messaged a friend on the same night saying, ‘I’m getting f*d tonight,’ a court heard today.

The woman, 20, also sent another message to friends saying: ‘If I’m ever going to get pregnant, it’s going to be tonight,’ the footballer’s lawyers told jurors.

Eleanor Laws, QC, representing the French international, 28, insisted during cross-examination that sex between the woman and the footballer was consensual.

They also claimed the woman had lied about the £52million defender bragging about sleeping with ‘10,000 women’ during the alleged rape.

Mendy is on trial at Chester Crown Court accused of eight counts of rape, one of attempted rape, and one of assault, relating to seven women. He denies the allegations.

Today the woman, giving a graphic testimony, told the jury how Mendy used a ‘fingerprint touchscreen’ to lock her in a bedroom before raping her.

She told the court the star acted like it was a ‘privilege’ to be raped by him, that he boasted about sleeping with thousands of woman as he carried out the sex attack and told her: ‘Don’t tell anyone and you can come over every night’.

But in cross-examination, Mendy’s barrister asked if the woman was lying about the incident, which is alleged to have taken place at Mendy’s £3million Cheshire mansion.

The woman insisted: ‘Absolutely not. He said I was shy, that’s when he said about sleeping with 10,000 women.

‘I’m certain. It’s in high definition in my mind. It’s the most traumatic thing that’s happened to me.’

Asked about the impact of the alleged attack, she said: ‘The hardest thing is how many times I said no, it makes me upset. I felt petrified after it happened.’

On the fourth day of the trial, the court heard how the woman had followed the French international into his room after he allegedly snatched her phone from her hands.

She told the court that once inside, Mendy closed the door to the bedroom – which she claimed was fitted with a special locks and could only be entered using fingerprint technology.

She told jurors that after telling Mendy she did not want to have sex with him, he replied: ‘The door is locked anyway’.

The woman provided details of Mendy’s bedroom, claiming that it was lined with wood, had an en suite bathroom and a large bed which had a blue and gold Versace pillow.

She said that Mendy was dressed in chocolate-coloured trousers, a black top and was wearing three diamante chains around his neck.

Giving evidence in the trial, she said: ‘He (Mendy) took my mobile phone off me and I followed him up two flights of stairs to try and get it back.

‘I was saying ‘that’s my phone, I want it back.’ He was going through it looking at private pictures of me that I’ve sent before.

‘He saw pictures of my bum and was saying how much he liked it and he also said he liked my t**s.’

Referring to Mendy’s bedroom, she said: ‘It was a big wooden door that had a black handle, like you have in a hotel. It had some kind of touch screen finger print thing on it.

‘I followed him in to get my phone then the door shut behind me. I said listen, I want to go home, I don’t want to have sex with you.’

The alleged incident took place in October 2020 after the woman met Mendy and a group of friends in Alderely Edge and was then then invited back to his mansion for a party.

She was sitting in the basement of his home close to the swimming pool sending messages on Snapchat when Mendy snatched her phone from her.

The woman revealed that once in the room Mendy asked her to remove her clothing.

She said: ‘He said he just wanted to look at me. He said: ‘I promise, I won’t touch you. I just want to see your t**s.

‘He said again, I promise, I just want to look at you. You can’t get out any way.’

The woman revealed that she reluctantly took off her clothes because she wanted to get her phone back and go home, she was just left standing in a thong.

Mendy then threw her mobile phone onto the bed and as she bent over the pick it up, the footballer grabbed her from behind.

She said: ‘He came around behind me and pushed me on the bed so I was on all fours.

‘I told him: ‘No. I don’t want to have sex with you.’ He said he would not touch me, he just wanted to feel me.

‘I was on all fours with my bum in the air. He was pulling my bum towards him and I kept saying ‘I don’t want to have sex with you.’

The woman revealed that Mendy then moved her thong to one side and first raped her.

She said: ‘He moved my thong to one side. I was trying to wriggle to get free but he had a hold of me. He kept on coming back.’

The woman’s evidence was video recorded and played to a jury of eight men and four women.

She said: ‘I said I don’t want to do that (have sex). I told him that my sister is waiting for me, I need to go, she’s probably looking for me.

‘He had his pants down fully, his top off and three diamante chains around his neck.’

‘He said: ‘You’re too shy. I’ve had sex with 10,000 women.’

The jury heard she was raped three times by Mendy in the next 20 minutes or so, as she told him: ‘I don’t want to do that. I don’t want to have sex with you. I need to go.’

She told the court: ‘My body was so tense. It was just this pain.’

The woman revealed that she met Mendy at a restaurant called Parea in Alderley Edge and that it was a Sunday evening.

Mendy was accompanied by three friends while she was with four female friends and they started chatting and drinking with the footballer’s group.

The woman revealed that at around 10.30pm as the restaurant was about to close, Mendy and his group invited them back to The Spinney, his mansion.

She told the court that she did not know that Mendy was a Premier League footballer when she first met him at the restaurant.

Following the alleged rape, the woman said that she put on her clothes and Mendy left the bedroom.

She said: ‘I just wanted to stay calm, get out and not cause a scene. I just put on my clothes and went out.’

The woman told the court that she confided in her sister and a colleague about what had taken place at Mendy’s mansion and that she also referred herself to a rape crisis centre as she had suffered trauma.

The next day at work she was waiting for a meeting when a colleague came over.

Mendy’s accuser told police: ‘She just looked at me and said, ‘Is everything all right?’ I just started crying my eyes out. I just said I was in a situation last night. I don’t know what to do but I don’t feel OK about it.’

She added: ‘What makes me really upset is how many times I said no.’

The woman told the officer interviewing her at Macclesfield Police Station that after raping her three times, Mendy said to her: ‘Don’t tell anyone and you can come here every night.’

The day after the alleged rape she got a Snapchat message from Mendy with lots of question marks, and one from Louis Saha Matturie, Mendy’s co-defendant, saying: ‘Are you OK? Please can you call me so we can discuss?’

She took screenshots and blocked both their numbers. This afternoon, the woman was cross-examined by Mendy’s lawyers.

Asked to explain why she took her clothes off once in Mendy’s bedroom, the woman replied:

‘He gave me a choice, you can’t leave so take your clothes off. He said ‘I won’t touch you.

‘I was trapped in any way. I made it very clear that I didn’t want anything to do with him. Taking my clothes off was my only choice.’

She added: ‘It’s all absolutely true. He said I was locked in and told me that I was not allowed to leave.

‘He said that I would not be able to leave. He said if you take your clothes off, I promise I will not touch you, I just want to look at you.’

Ms Laws asked the woman why she did not immediately alert her friends following the rape.

The woman revealed that after the attack, she got dressed, went downstairs to join her friends and then asked to leave. It was not until the next day that she confided in a work colleague and her sister about what took place.

Ms Laws said: ‘If you had been raped you would have been out of you wits. But you never said anything, not in the house and not in the car after you left.’

The woman replied: ‘I had not processed it, I just wanted to get home. I was in shock. I didn’t have the words to say that I was raped.’

Ms Laws revealed that on the night the woman met Mendy and his friends in a bar in Alderley Edge, former Manchester United footballer Jessie Lingard was also there.

He was not part of Mendy’s group and was accompanied by another man, who the woman admitted in court, may also have been a United footballer but she was not sure.

Ms. Laws asked her: ‘You were dancing with one of Lingard’s friends?’

The woman replied: ‘Yes.’

Ms. Laws said that the woman was ‘happy’ to be in the company of footballers and messaged one of her friends during the night out saying: ‘I’m sat with footballers.’

Ms. Laws read messages to the court from the woman to friends during the night out, which ended up at Mendy’s mansion.

In one she wrote: ‘I have decided. After my first drink, I’m getting f**ked tonight. Why not?’

In another, she said: ‘If I’m ever going to get pregnant, it’s going to be tonight.’

Mendy is accused of eight counts of rape, one count of attempted rape and one count of sexual assault, relating to seven young women.

Mendy’s co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, 41, the footballer’s friend and fixer, meanwhile, denies eight counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault relating to eight young women.

IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE A PRESIDENT AS BITTER AS PRESIDENT HH- HIS COMMENTS ON HON. MUMBI PHIRI ARE VERY SCARY

We call God a God of Love, a God of Mercy, among many titles. He is the King of Kings. A King/ President needs to have mercy amongst his many qualities. That’s why even the Constitution gives Presidents the Prerogative of mercy to exercise on anyone and anytime. THE COMMENTS the President made today on hon. Mumbi Phiri are very scary. We cannot have a president being bitter like that.

That seat is too powerful to have a person being bitter like that. The fact that God made you win the Presidency should be enough pay back for your enemies, both perceived and real. God is a JUST God. Never fear your fellow man but God when you are being unjust to another person. Mr. President sir, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema the PF and its officials paid for the injustice they unleashed on you by losing their seat. God will also not allow you to go unpunished for the injustice you are matting out on others. Walk away from this wicked path.

Your heart is too bitter sir. You just cannot continue on that path. Have mercy, if not for your own Christian values, but for the responsibility that comes with your seat. Besides, that woman has suffered too much already by being in that prison all these months. Some blind supporters will praise you, but you have a responsibility given by God and He expects certain things from you.

God will not let you go unpunished. Repent from your bitter leadership antics and let the rule of law prevail. It is a fact that you cannot use your Prerogative of Mercy on Hon. Mumbi Phiri because the matter has not gone to court and she has not been convicted yet, BUT use it to ensure that she has her day in court and has a free and fair trial. Why keep someone in prison for so long without trial if you know that she’s guilty? Do unto others what you would want them do unto you. And read the Bible to find out how leaders like yourself normally end up. This will not end well.

Eagle One HH7 on Hot FM was neither hot nor cold for both news and entertainment- Kasebamashila Kaseba

Kasebamashila Kaseba
HOW HH7 WAS UNPRESIDENT’IAL, FLAT, PREDICTABLE, UNCREATIVE, UNIMAGINATIVE, UNQUOTABLE AND UNCONVINCING IN NEARLY THREE HOURS OF 365 DAYS OF NEW DAWN UPND HH MORE LIKE SITLL OPPOSITION UPND HH

—- when eagle one couldn’t fly high on hot fm number one for news and entertainment —-

Eagle One HH7 on Hot FM was neither hot nor cold for both news and entertainment as by the station’s motto.

In trying to relax him about entertainment or sports, HH who previously featured on Hot FM “Top 10 at 10” in some guest DJ capacity his time said he sings to himself in the shower as entertainment or takes walks or loves nature.

HH also featured by phone on the same Hot FM station and programme to deny causing the ZAFFICO riots that it ruined their relationship with Hope Chishala. UPND cadres went for Hope.

HH also once phoned Hot FM Hot Seat featuring FDD Edith Nawakwi for accusing him of buying a Lima Bank iin Kabulonga.

He performed very well against her except for being unstrategic or indecisive.

He later hosted Hot FM at his Community House through dozen other relay stations for an interview on the same Lima Bank Kabulonga House.

While 09:00 was good time for a press conference, it was outside Hot FM’s “Red Hot Breakfast” from 06:00 to 09:00 programming.

Meaning the presenters were ready for work shift at 06:00 for yet all-work-and-no-play workaholic HH was not.

Instead, the presenters were disturbed from both their schedule and station to suit HH at State House.

I once had a meeting with one PF MCS Deputy Minister who gave me a 07:00 appointment. I was impressed. His reasoning was that Ministers without escort or sweepers could easily get stuck in after 07:00 traffic.

On the other hand, I have had about five opportunities to produce HH on Prime TV and elsewhere.

HH has serious problems with time or is now unbound by time and his words.

First opportunity in 2015, he cancelled the scheduled Prime TV flagship Oxygen of Democracy after his advance people were already at Prime TV.

Later when on the second attempt, he asked that we reschedule to much earlier than 20:30 to before 19:30 Prime TV Main News for security.

That disturbed programming as he worked with or through the owner without an iota of editorial independence separating the owners from the producers.

Another one was with other party presidents when I mainly produced Mulongoti including through Muvi TV.

Another was at his initiative when we met at some function.

He came through and featured on Prime TV Oxygen of Democracy time after 09:30 news.

He waited and was jovial to tease me to news analyse him on location or in his presence.

When I once interviewed KK for Times of Zambia at UNIP Freedom House after his release from prison for treason, in 1998, I was impressed with his answers and knack to unload questions.

HH one improvement is he allowed journalists to interrupt him before he reverted to his usual hang on.

Today, HH was as usual predictable, rambling for about three hours and uncategorical say on six nagging or overhanging questions he failed to answer or put rto rest or bed or close.

1. Community House to State House shift and wife cooking for him as president.

He talked about high cost of renovations of delapidated Nkwazi House of 1974 as opposed to State House of 1935 as well as seeing no need to shift.

He also said his wife still cooks for him. Reports are also that he actually goes home for wife-cooked lunch with the presidential motorcade than carry packed or delivered lunch. This is a state security matter.

2. Constitutional and law reform.

He was non-committal and without clear timeframes. He is still promising, ill-iinformed and contradictory of Zambia Law Development Commission (ZLDC) he failed to accordingly name especially on defamation of the president.

3. HH assets and liabilities declaration (as petitioned by Sean Tembo in the Constitutional Court) as well as relinquishing of management of his riches.

He generalised and went to EL and 2015 decoration or nomination. The same he did with Kabulonga Lima Tower House until it was too late. He declined and saw no need or conflict in being president fighting corruption and private property proprietor.

4. Mumbi Phiri murder detention without trial.

He waxed general.even self contradictory with his 127 days improvement example plus MP culpability referred to PF and subordinates.

4. Disgruntled youths insults of him and soldiers brutality.

He seened to condemn the youths and commend the soldiers at the same time. He saw more offense in the youths more than DEC director Mary Chirwa moral corruption. The same way he sees marijuana being more harmful than alcohol when the case is vice versa.

5. UPND cadreism I’m station, markets and streets.

As above he was self contradictory commending with old habits die hard and condemn with self praises of restoring peace and rule of law.

6. Greg Mills CEO the Brenthurst Foundation and the caprtive president and puppet of the west.

He again defended, rationalised and generalised and globalised a specific question.

Philip Mukuka Is Not On The Run, He Will Avail Himself To The Police On Monday, Says His Lawyer

Mukuka not on the run, says his lawyer

By Edwin Mbulo in Livingstone

PHILIP Mukuka is not on the run, he will avail himself to the police on Monday, says KBF’s Major Isaac Masonga.

In a letter to Livingstone police criminal investigations officer dated August 17, 2022 and copied to Inspector General of Police Lemmy Kajoba, Southern Province criminal investigations officer, The Mast Newspaper, and complainant Enia Kachana Kaingu, Maj Masonga said Mukuka who is allegedly to have attempted to rape Kaingu would return to Zambia over the weekend.

Police last Friday impounded Mukuka’s black Range Rover Discovery vehicle registration KP8 8VB GP which was the conduit of the alleged crime.

30-year-old Kaingu, a lawyer, reported to the police that Mukuka attempted to rape her in Songwe near the Gorge Swing Expedition.

According to Kaingu’s police statement Mukuka allagedly subjected her to a horrendous ordeal after he left her in the Buffalo infested World Heritage Site when she refused to have sex with him.

Kaingu had to walk naked over two kilometres to safety in pitch darkness around 03:09 hours.

Kaingu narrated that Mukuka requested to have oral sex with her after driving to Songwe Gorge after a drinking spree at Dry-Manzi, Bee-Hive and also at the Royal Livingstone Hotel.

She indicated that she gave in to his oral sex demands in fear for her life after she had noticed Mukuka behaving strangely at the Royal Livingstone where he had masturbated in full view of her and another friend.

Kaingu told the police that while he was having oral sex, he suggested to have sexual intercourse, a request to turned down.

Yesterday, Masonga informed the police that Mukuka has retained KBF and a consortium of advocates in Livingstone to defend him.

“We refer to the above captioned subject and The Mast Newspaper edition No. 3003 and 3005 dated 12th August 2022 and 14th August 2022 respectively…as a follow up to our earlier informal communication with you we wish to categorically reiterate that our client is not on the run as purported but that he went to attend to a prior scheduled business meeting out of the country and he was scheduled to return on Wednesday the 17th August, 2022 on which date he did request that he be availed to the police for interrogations in connection with the aforesaid reported purported event,” Masonga explained.

He indicated that however, Mukuka has since informed his lawyers that he would only be back “this weekend because he could not manage to do so as earlier indicated due to circumstances beyond his control”.

“In view of therefore he has requested that he be availed to the police on Monday the 22nd August, 2022 for your investigations in the matter at which time he will give an account of his side of the said purported event,” said Masonga.

He had sex with me ‘hundreds of times’ from the age of 15 to 18 – R Kelly’s ex goddaughter tells jury

A woman who has been pivotal to R. Kelly’s legal troubles for more than two decades testified on Thursday, August 18 that the R&B singer had sex with her ‘hundreds’ of times before she turned 18 years old, starting when she was just 15.

Jane – the pseudonym for the now 37-year-old woman at Kelly’s trial on child pornography and obstruction of justice charges told jurors that in the late 1990s when she was 13, she asked the Grammy award-winning singer to be her godfather because she saw him as a mentor.

She said few weeks after, Kelly started calling her to say sexual things.

She said he first touched her breasts when she was around 14 at a Chicago recording studio, and that around that time, he ‘started penetration’ at his North Side Chicago home.

Jane said she was 15 when they first had intercourse. Kelly, 55, would have been around 30 years old at the time.

Sometimes, they would have sex with other teenage girls she would recruit at Kelly’s request, she testified,

With her testimony on Thursday, Jane served as the first former victim to speak out about what she allegedly endured in the R&B star’s ongoing child pornography trial.

He stands charged in Chicago federal court with enticing of minors for sex, producing child pornography and rigging his 2008 pornography trial.

Prosecutors allege that R. Kelly paid off and threatened Jane and her family to ensure that she didn’t testify at a similar 2008 trial. She didn’t testify and he was ultimately acquitted.

Kelly, 55, is serving a 30-year prison sentence for his conviction in a New York court earlier this year on other federal charges alleging he used his fame to sexually abuse fans over several decades.

Two other minor victims are also expected to testify in the Chicago trial, which is expected to last about a month.

Jane said she was in a music group at the time, and Kelly — a friend of her aunt’s — attended one of their performances, and gave her good feedback.

‘It made me feel happy that such a successful person was saying I was gifted, so I was excited,’ Jane testified, according to the Chicago Tribune.

She said her aunt then advised her to ask Kelly to be her godfather. According to her, her aunt said ‘I should sit on his lap and rub his head and ask him to play that role in my life.’

Jane said she obliged, and Kelly ‘chuckled a bit, and said “yes.”

But soon the relationship became sexual.

In at least one case, WGN-TV reports, she said Kelly asked her what color her underwear was, and told her he was pleasuring himself as they spoke.

Kelly then gave her alcohol for the first time when she was 14, Jane said, and she began drinking heavily.

‘It would help me loosen up, kind of take me away from the moment,’ she said.

By the time she was 15, she said, they started having sex, and when asked by a prosecutor how she knew her exact age, Jane replied: ‘Because that’s when I lost my virginity.’

From there, Jane said, they would have intercourse in Kelly’s home on West George Street, at his Near West Side recording studio, on tour buses and in hotels.

Asked by a prosecutor how she would know what to do sexually, Jane answered: ‘He would tell me what to do.’

And when asked how many times they had sex before she turned 18, she answered quietly: ‘Uncountable times…hundreds.’

Unlike at the 2008 trial, Jane is now cooperating with prosecutors and is a pivotal witness.

Prosecutors say Kelly shot an explicit video of Jane in a log cabin-themed room at his North Side Chicago home between 1998 and 2000. In it, the girl is heard calling the man ‘daddy.’

Prosecutors say Kelly, who rose from poverty on Chicago’s South Side to become a star singer, knew a conviction in 2008 would effectively end his life, so he conspired to fix that trial.

According to prosecutors, Kelly told Jane and her parents to leave Chicago, paying for them to travel to the Bahamas and Cancun, Mexico.

When they returned, prosecutors say Kelly sought to isolate Jane, moving her around to different hotels. When called before a state grand jury looking into the video, Jane, her father and mother denied it was her in it.

On June 13, 2008, when he was acquitted on all counts of child pornography, some of the jurors told reporters after the trial that they weren’t convinced that the female in the video was who state prosecutors said she was.

Kelly, who has denied any wrongdoing, has been trailed for decades by complaints and allegations about his sexual behavior. The scrutiny intensified after the #MeToo era and the 2019 six-part documentary ‘Surviving R. Kelly.’

Kelly also faces four counts of enticement of minors for sex – one each for four other accusers. They, too, are expected to testify.

Prosecutors also say they have evidence of at least three videos showing Kelly having sex with underage girls.

Russia rejects call to demilitarise Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant area despite UN warning of impending disaster

0

Russia has rejected appeals by the United Nations, EU, G7 and Ukraine to completely demilitarize the area around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in southern Ukraine.

The Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant is Europe’s largest nuclear plant and has been under the control of the Russian military since March this year after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine.

UN Secretary General António Guterres made the call after meeting Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Lviv on Thursday.

“Any potential damage to Zaporizhzhia is suicide,” Guterres warned.

Guterres added that “the facility must not be used as part of any military operation”.

Turkey’s Erdogan echoed the UN chief’s concerns, telling reporters that he was worried about the danger of “another Chernobyl” disaster erupting at the plant. Erdovan said an impending disaster could be averted if both sides demilitarize the region.

Zelensky then criticised “deliberate” Russian attacks on the power plant accusing Moscow of turning the facility into an army base.

But Ivan Nechayev, deputy director of the Russian foreign ministry’s Information and Press Department, rejected the call.

“Their implementation will make the plant even more vulnerable,” Nechayev told reporters.

The appeals come as Ukrainian staff, who are working at the plant under Russian direction, warned of a potential nuclear catastrophe at the facility, saying in the past two weeks it has become “the target of continuous military attacks”.

“What is happening is horrific and beyond common sense and morality,” Zaporizhzhia staff wrote in a Telegram post (in Ukrainian).

Three of the four power supply lines linking the plant to the Ukrainian national grid have been damaged by shelling and Ukraine’s nuclear regulator has warned that a complete loss of power supply would mean that “nuclear fuel will begin melting, resulting in a release of radioactive substances to the environment”.

Despite concerns, the site is said to be far more secure than the Chernobyl plant – the site of the worst nuclear incident in history.

The reactor is in a steel-reinforced concrete building that can “withstand extreme external events, both natural and man-made, such as an aircraft crash or explosions,” according to military experts.

The President’s Interview On Hot FM

Mr President are you a Puppet for the West?

THE PRESIDENT’S INTERVIEW ON HOT FM

Its a breath of fresh air to have a President answer tough questions and being held accountable by the public. Zambia you are a blessed nation and may God richly continue blessing our President HH. I can write pages on the good things he said for a week; However, ours is not to praise but critic kabili insala. Praise singers will cover the singing side.

The interview started on a slow note with questions about his personal life to make him feel comfortable. But the questions that followed caught him off guard to be fair. “Have you declared interest in your companies and who is running them?” He refused that he has not done so and down played the issue like it’s not important. This is ethically wrong by all governance levels bordering on “corruption”, it’s a thin line to walk. He has worked with audit firms, he knows it’s wrong. How can a President be running companies? He has inside information. This is wrong ..

The follow up question was also not answered to my gratification. “Mr President why have you not declared your assets to the public?” In no exact terms he said he has declared and it’s not his job to make them public, but we should get interested. This again sounded untruthful to me because it has not been made public even after asking for it for over a year now.

He furthermore encouraged people that are being called by ACC about their properties, to simply comply and answer and not cause a fuse. But he never used to do that himself, he would go with a rally.

Hope Chishala was on fire today and un apologitic, she grilled the President on Gill Mills and state capture. Sorry but here the President was allover the place and almost turned emotional. “What’s the relationship” she insisted but he kept giving examples of friendship. This is worrying. The follow up question was brutal…ARE YOU A PUPPET?

Then came the voice notes, the chaps were basically praising and requesting . The other thing that interested me, was for the President to acknowledge PF works he has been commissioning. He refused to acknowledge their works but attributed it to government , yet was just praising himself and the UPND for what they have done in less than a year

The issue of Mumbi Phiri did not come out very well though he had a point. Especally that he is the President and now we have a court date. It can be debated as to whether now Mumbi Phiri can receive a fair trial.

To end on a lighter note, the President claimed he had finished load shedding and made the mistake of asking Hope if she experiences loading shedding …. She answered that she is still experiences load shedding. Lol it was abit awkward

It’s was an exciting interview and we will continue digesting it. It was a champions league match, the interviewers lived up to our expectations for it’s not easy to interview the President. For the President this is probably his best interview ever and he should continue facing tough questions, we leave it to praise team.

God bless Zambia God Bless our President.

Religion has left Zambians stuck in life, says Siamunene

Religion has left Zambians stuck in life, says Siamunene

By Ben Mbangu in Choma

RICHWELL Siamunene says religion has left many Zambians stuck in life owing to outdated teachings.

Welcoming the new dawn government’s plans to overhaul the school curriculum, Siamunene observed that the manner in which religious education was taught in schools had no meaning in terms of complimenting other subjects.

He said the subject should be realigned with sciences since there was an act of transformation involved during the process of prayer as opposed to only talk about Jesus who lived 2,000 years ago.

“Majority Zambians are stuck in life because of the outdated religious education teaching we have continued receiving in schools and churches about Jesus who lived 2,000 years ago. Let’s now talk about what that attitude of Jesus can bring about in our lives so that the spirit becomes science as it is written in the book of Romans 12 verse 2 where Paul says be transformed by renewing your mind,” Siamunene suggested.

He proposed that religious education be relooked from the aspect of change it can bring about to other subjects or skills training.

“For example, let it be a science because we engage into prayer in order to be answered. For the answer to be given there must be a transformation on the person who is praying. Instead of being religious it must be turned into a spiritual science subject,” Siamunene suggested.

He said religious education teaching must bring about renewal of people’s mind so that they can create or innovate good things that they envision.

“The major problem is on the religious teaching we get from our churches, homes and schools and we are stuck with the teaching that it’s only Jesus who was given the power by God to change things. Yet Jesus is telling us that there is power in us as human beings,” he said. “So if we teach people that there is power in them it means that as we are going to reintroduce skills training subjects they are going to say ‘I can do anything’. But as things stand now we are stuck because the religious teaching we have tells us that only when the kingdom comes that’s when we will enjoy and this has a psychological bearing on us.”

Siamunene said the government particularly the Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima and his team must be supported in their quest to overhaul the entire school curriculum by giving them more ideas on what to change.

“You can train people about life skills and entrepreneurship but if they don’t change their mind, if there is no mind transformation that they can achieve anything, they will still be workers to those people who owns companies related to skills that they have undergone. And this is why we are suggesting that even RE should be looked at as they overhaul the curriculum,” explained Siamunene. “Let it be a science because it deals with change of mind. It brings about change just like multiplying two by two which is four. If we add science to it people will appreciate change. We must change the way people think. We must not look at the aspect of skills training only but also how we teach religious education.”

UPND Alliance has potential to undo other parties in 2026 – MNT

By Oliver Chisenga

THE Movement for National Transformation says the UPND Alliance has the potential to undo any political party in the 2026 general elections.

MNT leader Daniel Shimunza, whose party is a member of the alliance, says the 2021 general elections provided Zambian politics a pattern and precedent setting UPND-Alliance council of presidents which had the potential to undo other parties in 2026, but “if only managed well”.

“The way forward in breaking the stalemate of under-development is political partnerships and alliances, not hegemony,” Shimunza said in a statement titled ‘Beyond politics of hegemony’. “This partnership must be based on mutual national interests, above partisan interests or self-seeking interests.”

He said if Zambia desires development and transformation, which brings about the fourth industrialisation, now was the time to craft a new state and government.

Shimunza said a business as usual approach of hegemonic politics would not suffice.

He said men and women with leadership qualities must rise to champion political alliances and partnerships.

Shimunza also noted that Zambia’s presidential terms are likewise restrictive of continuity in terms of planning and execution of national development.

“Furthermore, human fallibility can only be curbed by collective responsibility, and wisdom of like minds, to advance a first world development for Zambia. Self- preservation and hegemony are the devil and demons keeping us on the path of national suicide and self-destructive practices of insults, partisanship, caderism, bootlicking, rivalry, division, tribalism and under-development,” he said.

Shimunza said transformative leadership would require a breaking away from hegemony, and foster a presidency worth true national vision, character, inclusive, and with proportional representative governance systems.

He said failure to advance such a system of state-craft and government would sabotage all efforts to be a 21st Century “bastion of regional and global free-market economy, and political models of first world free societies, instead of Third World mediocrity”.

“The question is, do we have men and women willing to die to self and put national interests above partisan interests for posterity? The nation is advised accordingly, and the wise will always learn,” said Shimunza.

DPP appeals McPherson Chanda’s two-year jail term

DPP appeals McPherson Chanda’s two-year jail term

By Mwaka Ndawa

THE Director of Public Prosecutions has appealed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Court before the Lusaka High Court against the two-year jail term imposed on former postmaster general McPherson Chanda and two others by its sibling court in Ndola, for theft by public servant.

Lillian Siyunyi on behalf of the Anti-Corruption Commission argues that the convicts’ sentence is compassionate and not in conformity with the rules of sentencing.

On July 7, 2022, Ndola magistrate Kaunda Sakwanda sentenced Chanda and his accomplices Best Mwaiche, director finance, and Isaac Kawimba, director operations at Zampost, to two years simple imprisonment in a matter where they were facing 13 counts of theft by servant for diverting Social Cash Transfer Funds amounting to K335,108,834 without lawful authority.

Magistrate Sakwanda entered a statutory judgment in favour of the Attorney General to reclaim the K335 million.

The convicts withheld Social Cash Transfer Funds in a fixed deposit account whenever the money was due for payment to the intended beneficiaries for seven days to amass interest, without consent from the Ministry of Community Development and Social Security.

The three challenged their conviction to the EFCC on four grounds.

They argued that magistrate Sakwanda erred in law and fact when she found that the prosecution had established a case against them beyond reasonable doubt.

Chanda and his accomplices said the trial court erred in law when it held that Section 90 of the postal services Act did not apply to the case.

The three said magistrate Sakwanda erred in law and fact when she entered statutory judgment in favour of the State to recoup the K355 million having found as a matter of fact that Zampost had only received K98 million as Social Cash Transfer Funds from the Ministry of Community Development and Social Security.

“The learned trial court erred in law and fact when she entered statutory judgment in favour of the Attorney General in the sum of K355 million contrary to clear evidence on record that none of the convicts personally benefited from the said funds,” argued the trio.

However, the DPP has equally appealed magistrate Sakwanda’s judgment on grounds that the court was sympathetic in meting out punishment on the convicts.

In her ground of appeal, Siyunyi said: “the learned trial court erred in law when it failed to follow sentencing principles and arrived at a linient sentence that does not reflect the seriousness of the offence.”

She indicated that she will avail the court with more grounds of appeal.

The Man Who Pulled Out A Gun On DEC Officers And Sent Them Scampering To Safety speaks out!

Armed DEC suspect speaks out!

THE man who pulled out a gun on Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) officers and sent them scampering to safety last Monday has protested his innocence, saying the Commission has been attempting to implicate him.

Allan Muvundo of Lusaka’s Roma township has told #Kalemba that he is neither a criminal nor a drug dealer but an ex-prisoner who was trying to earn an honest living through a taxi business.

The 29-year old explained that his troubles with DEC begun a month ago when he was ambushed by armed men after parking his Vitz at East Park Mall in Lusaka.

Although he was was armed at the time, Muvundo says he took to his feet because he did not want to get involved in a shoot out with the people he thought were criminals but later found out that they were in fact DEC officers.

He said the the DEC officers took his vehicle to the Commission’s headquarters in Lusaka but because he believed they were corrupt, he sent his Lebanese friend who had loaned him the very vehicle to engage them in retrieving it.

Muvundo said although his friend was made to pay the officers K15,000, they did not release the vehicle after which he reported the matter to Kalingalinga Police Station.

The police officers from Kalingalinga Police Station agreed to engage DEC officers and last Monday went with Muvundo to DEC with the objective of retrieving the vehicle.

Muvundo said on arrival at the DEC offices, the Commission’s officers had a private meeting with the police while he waited in another room.

Muvundo said after the meeting, the cops were asked to leave because DEC had a job offer for him, which excited him.

Muvundo said he was, however, shocked when the conversation took a different turn with officers accusing him of selling drugs and handcuffing him.

Muvundo said when his pleas of not implicating an innocent man fell on deaf ears, he pulled out his firearm to save himself from DEC.

It is at this time that he ran out of the DEC headquarters and hiked a vehicle on Government Road.

Muvundo denied opening fire on officers saying he only grabbed a fire arm from a DEC officer who fired at him.

DEC has not commented on the matter while Muvundo remains a free man.http://kalemba.news/…/08/19/armed-dec-suspect-speaks-out/

PF DISOWNS CADRES WHO STOLE LUNGU’S TVS

By Scoop Reporter

IN a dramatic turn of events, the Patriotic Front (PF) has played Pontius Pilate over the cadres that stole former president Edgar Lungu’s television sets saying the said thieves are not their member.

Yesterday, Inspector General of police Lemmy Kajoba disclosed that it was Lungu’s cadres who stole his two television sets a fortnight ago.

Mr. Kajoba disclosed that one TV was retrieved from a well-known PF cadre Angel Chipasha and that Chipasha told the police that the other TV is with another notorious PF cadre, Emmanuel Bwalya who is suspected to be on the Copperbelt where he is suspected to have sold it already.

But Lusaka Province PF youth chairman Christopher Shakafuswa says the purported suspects that the police claim to have arrested are not members of the PF adding that the party has checked and verified its registers and that there are no such names in its records.

Mr. Shakafuswa branded the statement from the police careless, unsatisfactory, and unprofessional.

“It is shocking that the police could be dragging the name of our party in the mud when they could have simply reached out to our party secretariat to verify whether or not the said suspects are indeed members of the Patriotic Front,” Mr. Shakafuswa said.

But Chipasha’s pictures in full PF regalia have filtered through social media where he was captured at different party functions.

The PF membership is not by card by by mere registration.
