Is UPND dead scared of UKA?

0

THE MAST COMMENT

Is UPND dead scared of UKA?

When some opposition parties announced formation of the United Kwacha Alliance, the new dawn government swiftly reacted belittling it but declared that they will not stand in the way of its registration. One month and counting, UKA is facing a brick wall. The new dawn administration is putting every spanner and all manner of excuses to delay the alliance’s registration. They want to render the UKA a stillbirth. And this is a government that calls itself democratic and governing by the rule of law. But we remind the UPND that rule of law is the foundation for all our basic rights. We all clearly recall where we are coming from. When the PF decided to hijack the rule of law, voters showed them the exit door. While this administration can abuse state institutions to stifle citizen’s rights including keeping opposition political parties immobile, the power they wield today is transient.

RJ Intindola said, “If you love freedom, then you are going to have to pay for it. Not only by paying taxes but by making the commitment to live by the principles that are essential for freedom to survive. That includes respecting the rule of law and if you have set that aside for political reasons, then you are a threat to our democracy and our freedoms.”

Today, PF member and lawyer Makebi Zulu says come rain come sunshine eventually the government will have to bow to the wishes of the people,

He says fighting UKA will mean fighting Zambians.

“They (Zambians) are the ones that have called for the checks and balances in this country. They are the ones that do not want to see a fragmented opposition. They want an opposition that speaks with one voice, because they realise that when you speak with one voice, government is almost on their toes to do the right thing. The moment government divides the opposition, then they are free, they think they are free to do whatever they want to do. But so far government having failed to do whatever they want to do, they know that this force that is coming, this UKA that is coming, they have got nothing to say against it,” said Zulu. “The only thing the government can try to do is stop it from registering. But they can’t stop it, they can only delay it. That is the comfort that I can give the Zambians out there. I would really love to delve into issues relating to UKA presently because its another story that shows how undemocratic our country is becoming. It’s an annoying subject. Whereas UKA is welcomed by each and every Zambian that was looking forward to an alternative voice, each and every Zambian that was looking forward to the opposition coming together, we have seen machinations by the government to stop the registration of UKA. Now, I am going to give you this example, Miles Sampa holds a supposed conference on the 24th of October, a public holiday. His conference finishes at about 21. The police, IG, are in the office waiting for Miles Sampa and his people to go and have their fingers uplifted and they clear them before midnight, on a public holiday. UKA goes to the police for clearance, and it has taken over a month. So, who is fooling who in all this? So, you can see that the rule of law as it were or indeed the interference of the executive in trying to ensure the opposition does not thrive. In trying to ensure that dissenting voices are not heard…”

Indeed, UPND is shooting itself in the foot in matters of democracy. When Hakainde Hichilema’s UPND teamed up with Edith Nawakwi’s FDD and Tilyenji Kaunda’s UNIP in the 2006 elections, then president Levy Mwanawasa did not stand in their way. They called that alliance United Democratic Alliance (UDA). And this UDA was later registered with the Registrar of Societies and became the umbrella body for these three political parties. And their presidential candidate was Hakainde himself. The Electoral Commission of Zambia also recognised UDA as a sponsoring organisation for a presidential candidate in Hakainde. Why is Hakainde’s government today not allowing the same liberty to UKA members to have the oragnisation registered? If, indeed, UKA is not a threat to the UPND, why are they using every trick in the book to delay registration of this organisation? They have held on to their project of demolishing PF using Miles Sampa, but it seems UKA has detracted them. They seem to have realised that they can have PF in their hands but UKA is in fact more viable than Miles’ PF. This is politics. When you do mingalato, you definitely don’t expect others to sit back and watch you. They are bound to react. And true to Makebi’s words, UKA has got supporters who are watching Hakainde’s manouvres. And uit’s a fact that if elections were to be held today, UPNDF would lose terribly. This is because people have seen through UPND’s failures to deliver. UPND has made people’s lives more unbearable, hence the fear of allowing the opposition to mobilise. But the danger with this scenario is that it is annoying voters more than opposition parties. What UPND is doing to the opposition is exactly what PF did to them. It therefore means that the fate PF suffered in 2021 is the exactly the same fate UPND is likely to suffer in 2026. And for them it will be embarrassing because they will be a one term government. Anyway, since they are used to scoring a first, it will probably be a plus on their governance record. UPND is digging its own grave with this breeding of dictatorship. The earlier they stop, the better.

Tanzania opposition has failed the democracy test, study says

0

Tanzania’s opposition parties have been accused of preaching water but drinking wine after a study revealed a lack of internal party democracy during their elections and primaries.

The study on intra-party democracy in Tanzania, commissioned by the University of Dodoma and published last month, concluded that party elections are usually stage-managed to endorse the incumbent, particularly in cases where party constitutions do not specify clear succession paths.

“The possibility of another candidate defeating the incumbent chairperson is generally very low and the candidate selections mostly feature one aspirant who amasses almost all the party membership votes,” the study says.

Intra-party democracy in Tanzania’s opposition camp has been a regular talking point among political observers for quite some time amid reports of leadership manipulation or power struggles afflicting majority of the 19 registered political parties.

The consensus is that the majority of party leaders preach water but drink wine as they rarely embrace democracy within their parties as they demand at the general election.

The latest study findings, which were authored by UDOM political science lecturer Melkisedek Kaijage under the theme Assessing Competitiveness of Political Party Leadership Selection in Tanzania, brought the subject back into sharp focus ahead of Tanzania’s local government elections in October this year and general election in 2025.

The country’s second most popular opposition party ACT-Wazalendo recently gained plaudits for achieving a smooth change of leadership which saw long-serving leader Zitto Kabwe step down in line with the party’s constitution that fixed term limits.

Mr Zitto, who held the topmost post of Party Leader for 10 years before handing over the baton to Dorothy Semu in internal elections earlier in month, said in his farewell address that transforming the party into a genuinely democratic institution was what he was aiming for as his legacy.

“We taught other political parties how to organise an internal election and bring in new leaders in a civilised manner,” he said in what appeared to be a veiled reference to the main opposition party Chadema where chairman Freeman Mbowe has held the position for 24 years.

Civic elections

Chadema is expected to hold its internal elections in June this year with all indications showing that Mr Mbowe will be endorsed to continue as chairman, especially after the party recently resolved to go ahead with preparations for the civic elections despite reservations over the recent passage of new election laws that appear to favour the ruling CCM.

The party is currently in the process of installing new leaders at ward, district, regional and zonal levels nationwide to oversee the exercise of selecting candidates for the civic polls, and Mr Mbowe has issued instructions for credible candidates to be fielded for all seats that are up for grabs in the elections “without fail.”

The Chadema boss, however, is not the only opposition party leader who has been accused of overstaying and clinging on to power. Others are John Cheyo of the United Democratic Party and Hashim Rungwe of Chama cha Ukombozi wa Umma (Chaumma) who have led the parties they founded for 30 and 11 years respectively without elections.

Prof Ibrahim Lipumba has stayed at the helm of the Civic United Front (CUF) since 2019 when he toppled the late Seif Shariff Hamad in an internal party coup that resulted in Hamad’s departure to ACT-Wazalendo, taking about 150 CUF members with him.

NCCR-Mageuzi, at one time Tanzania’s strongest opposition party, is still trying to put its house in order following the 2022 ouster of chairman James Mbatia, which was only confirmed after a bruising court battle.

Mr Mbatia had been the chair for 22 years after taking over from party founder Augustine Mrema who spearheaded a spirited NCCR-Mageuzi presidential campaign in 1995, finishing runners-up to the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi’s Benjamin Mkapa with 30 percent of the vote in Tanzania’s first elections under a restored multiparty system.

But an internal powerplay also saw Mr Mrema surrender the party leadership mantle to Mr Mbatia and at the same time switch allegiance to the Tanzania Labour Party (TLP) where he remained chairman until his death in August 2022.

TLP is scheduled to hold a long-delayed internal election on March 27 to fill the seat of chair that has remained vacant ever since. The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties blamed the delay on internal power struggle, which necessitated its intervention.

According to the UDOM study findings, “candidate selections (for intra-party elections) are generally not competitive when assessed against parameters such as incumbent success rate, number of candidates and vote share among them, and the role of party conventions.”

It cited Chadema and CUF as examples of parties that “occasionally feature more than one candidate in leadership elections in order to camouflage competition” while noting that “single candidacy” remained a strong tradition in CCM.

“Relevant laws should be redefined while also strengthening their enforcement mechanisms to compel political parties to cherish democratic principles in their internal businesses,” it proposed.

SIWALE, MUTALE CALL FOR FAZ PROBE

SIWALE, MUTALE CALL FOR FAZ PROBE

By Bright Tembo

FOOTBALL administrator Blackwell Siwale says he expects the police to investigate and prosecute Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga despite government’s position that it will sort out the matter administratively.

And his Mufulira based counterpart Damiano Mutale has questioned government’s decision to sort out what he termed a criminal matter administratively.

Siwale had written to Inspector General of police Graphel Musamba, asking him to institute investigations and prosecute Football Association of Zambia FAZ president Andrew Kamanga for instructing his general secretary Reuben Kamanga to pay for non-FAZ member’s travel to the just ended Africa Cup of Nations (AfACON) tournament in Ivory Coast.

Prior to the tournament, Kamanga instructed Rueben to write to the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, recommending three officials to travel to Ivory Coast as advance party sponsored by the government with full knowledge that two of the three officials were not part of the FAZ structure.

According to a letter dated March 5, 2024, Siwale asked police to investigate and prosecute Kamanga for instructing the secretariat to put two non-FAZ officials on the advance party at government cost.

Government has since asked FAZ to refund a sum of K341,902.00.

Sports minister Elvis Nkandu also announced that the matter will be sorted out administratively.

“I don’t understand what he (Nkandu) meant when he said the matter will be sorted out administratively, If he had elaborated we could have understood. Administratively, does it mean he is the law himself to punish FAZ or it will end at counselling FAZ? That said, I have reported the matter already to the police,” Siwale told The Mast Sport. “For us we are seeing fraud, for us we are seeing crime and us who are seeing crime we will go ahead. The ministry can go ahead and sort the issue administratively but we will involve law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and conclude it in a manner it is supposed to be concluded where we suspect crime has been committed, Who is going to payback that money? Is it FAZ ? And if so how? FAZ is highly indebted, why would it use money on individuals who are not FAZ excutive members or secretariat?”

Siwale said he expects nothing but prosecution of the culprits.

“We are seeing crime, we are seeing fraud; let the law take its cause. The administrative matter at the ministry ends at warning them or writing them a letter not to repeat and we are taking it as a crime,’’ said Siwale. ‘’The law enforcement [agencies] will need to investigate and if need be prosecute, I am waiting for a response from the Inspector General of police after writing to him, but I expect nothing less than prosecution.”

And Mutale called the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to join in the investigation.

‘’Thisis a criminal matter, so there is no way the minister can say they will sort it out administratively. Where is the ACC? This is a criminal matter so we expect the ACC and other investigative wings to take keen interest in it,’’ said Mutale.

REFER TO HIM AS ‘YE,’ AS ARTIST FORMERLY KNOWN AS KANYE WEST DENOUNCES ‘SLAVE NAME’

0

Kanye West is no more. The artist now known as “Ye” is demanding that the music industry follow suit on his name change.

His chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulous, allegedly sent a letter to various media outlets on Feb 26. urging this to oblige this request. In the letter, Yiannopoulous referred to the decision as not one made in vain, given the immense recognition of “Kanye West” as a brand. A fan account for the rapper reported a picture of the document.

The Chief of YEEZY staff is sending a letter to various platforms and entities, directing them to stop using “Kanye” and instead use “Ye”

“He [Ye] has on several occasions referred to it as his slave name. Ye is a black man in America who wants the right to full… pic.twitter.com/OkpLGEZrt3— Donda Times (@dondatimes) March 23, 2024

“Ye is one of the most recognizable people in the world, on par with presidents and popes,” shared Yiannopoulous. “He didn’t take the decision to change his name, potentially sacrificing some of the immense value captured by the brand ‘Kanye West’ lightly. The change was made fully, legally, and permanently. The is who he is now. His name is Ye.”

The letter later states that West refers to his old moniker as his slave name. The Yeezy employee shared how, as a Black man, West has a right to self-determination in America. It should also be noted that Yiannopoulous is a former alt-right political commentator.

“He has on several occasions referred to it as his slave name,” detailed the letter. “Ye is a black man in America who wants the right to full self-determination just like everyone else. My colleagues and I are reaching out at his urging and hope you can assist in this effort by bringing any and all instances of his name into line on your services.”

In 2021, a Los Angeles Judge legalized the name change. West listed “personal reasons” for the name change in court documents obtained by Page Six.

The father of four has abandoned his birth name for years now. However, it is evident that media platforms and music streamers have not made the switch quickly enough for his liking.

Xiomala Mapepa’s Moves To Galatasaray Is Illegal – The Elite Ladies

MAPEPA’S ILLEGAL MOVE TO TURKEY

The club has been made aware of the player’s move to Turkey without our knowledge through social media reports though we were aware that she was out of the country.
1. Mapepa is not a free agent. She is contracted to The Elite Ladies FC up to 31st May 2025. Mapepa’s said termination of her contract with the club is not on record and FAZ never wrote to us on that. And her move to Turkey could only have happened if she has been given a temporary registration pending determination of her status or if FAZ proceeded to issue the ITC without both the knowledge and permission of the club.

2. Mapepa’s ITC, if issued by FAZ, has no blessing from the club. We told FAZ not to proceed with the ITC. Records are there. On Friday, Mr Cuthbert Thuwa was told to cancel the ITC request since the club did not have access to the FIFA TMS at the time. He responded that he could not do so but never gave any reasons why. Later he said that he didn’t have power. We believe FAZ can operate even with loadshedding on matters of urgency and importance. This means he neither cancelled the ITC request nor gave the club access to the FIFA TMS as requested. Without access to the TMS for us to cancel the ITC request, only Mr Thuwa had the power to protect The Elite Ladies FC. We have since written to FAZ and we will also write to FIFA over the illegal move. It’s not the first time players have been stolen from clubs in Zambia and taken to Europe despite clubs here doing everything right. Sometimes it is our very own people who are complicit in these thefts of players. If anyone committed fraud this time around, they will be punished appropriately and severely.

3. The club has been up-to-date with payments and this includes payments this month of March 2024 and FAZ has been given proof of payments to the player.

4. The player has not been playing because she was on suspension for substance abuse just after her last game for the club. We have decided not to give details to the public in order to protect the player and give her chance to be a better person and make it in her career both abroad and even in the national team. It is not in our nature to damage what we studiously put together. We choose our battles wisely and know that some arguments are not worth winning, hence our silence over this matter all along. But her suspension was reported to the FAZ.

5. Mapepa was taken to Turkey by an agent called Chileshe Darlton who signed a representation contract with her on 22nd December 2023 when Mapepa already had an official agency contract signed with ProSport International and Kinetic Sports Consultants valid from 28th February 2022 to 27th February 2024. This is the agent under whom she travelled to Sweden for trials in August 2022. Mapepa never terminated the original contract signed by Michael Macaab of South Africa before signing with Darlton. This makes her move illegal as it was done by someone using a contract which is void ab-initio. Even if this contract was valid, Darlton has not shown FAZ that she is a registered and licensed agent. And we never had her mandate signed by the player on our files. Only FAZ can prove whether she should be allowed to work as an agent and if she is both registered and licensed.

6. We leave FAZ to address the public in full on this matter to show how they allowed this move to happen without the knowledge and blessing of this club. We believe in the leadership of Mr Andrew Kamanga and we believe that FAZ will not allow our club to be swindled of its most prized player. At the end of the FAZ case and the FIFA case, we believe that we shall receive every coin due to us and that a transfer fee of not less than USD 10,000 plus compensation for the illegal transfer.

7. This is our last statement on Mapepa. We believe that all we need is our transfer fee as we have since moved on from her on the pitch. She did very well for us and we appreciate her services over the years. We wish her all the best once her move has been regularised and we have been paid.

Thank you,

Shalala Oliver Sepiso
CEO
The Elite Ladies FC

WOMAN TOLD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN MARRIAGE AND NURSING COURSE

WOMAN TOLD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN MARRIAGE AND NURSING COURSE

A married woman pursuing a nursing course in Ndola has been asked by her husband to choose between marriage and her studies, the Ndola Main Local Court has heard.

Christine Mulenga, a student nurse of Kabushi Township, sued Josphat Sambilu, a driver, for divorce due to marital disputes.

The case came up before Presiding Magistrate Bizzere Nyoni. The two got married in 2018 after Sambilu paid K200 as dowry and over K8,000 bride price.

The couple has one child. Mulenga told the court problems started in 2022 when she started going to school.

She said after the couple got married in 2018, she started selling rice and managed to raise about K8,000 to start pursuing her nursing course.

Mulenga said when she began going to school, she observed that her husband, who agreed to continue sponsoring her studies, started coming home late.

“When I asked him why he was coming late, he told me that it was her fault as she started going to school. My husband started sleeping out and would go for a week without coming back.

Sometimes when I tried to call, a woman would answer the phone that he was also her husband,” she said. She said the situation got worse as her husband stopped sponsoring her at school and also stopped providing at home.

“When I tried to reason with him, he told me to choose between school and marriage,” she said.

She said when she threatened to divorce him, Sambilu showed her a charm and said if she went ahead with the divorce, she would not have children if she decided to remarry.

Mulenga said her husband also stopped paying rentals and at some point the owner of the house wanted to grab their household goods.

“I got the properties from where we were staying while he was not at home but when he came back, he told me that if I don’t take the chairs back to our house, I will die and people will sit on the same chairs,” she said.

In defence, Sambilu told the court he did not want the marriage to end. “Our child being six years old is too young and is going to suffer when we separate,” he said.

Magistrate Nyoni adjourned the case for continuation of hearing and judgment.

MMD Reaffirms Commitment to National Development and Political Renewal

0

The Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) has reiterated the importance of forward momentum as a fundamental step towards contributing to the nation’s development and reshaping its political landscape.

In a recent address to the Party’s leadership during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on March 21, 2024, MMD President Nevers Mumba emphasized the imperative of moving beyond past grievances. Dr. Mumba underscored the need to refocus efforts on revitalizing the Party’s vision and reputation, urging members to let go of lingering resentments and concentrate on rebuilding and reclaiming their political space.

Furthermore, Dr. Mumba announced plans for a nationwide tour across all ten provinces of Zambia, aiming to engage with members and supporters to fortify the Party’s presence and efficacy. He expressed optimism that this mobilization effort would mark a significant turning point for the MMD, enabling it to reconnect with its base and forge ahead with renewed vigor.

Meanwhile Dr.Mumba has also highlighted the looming threat of drought and its potential impact on food security in households across Zambia.

Expressing concerns over the situation, Dr.Mumba referenced OXFAM’s report indicating that up to six million people could face food insecurity due to the impending dry spell. He emphasized the necessity for proactive measures and preparedness to mitigate the anticipated hardships, urging for solutions to be implemented before the full impact is felt.

Dr.Mumba expressed confidence that Zambia could overcome these challenges, rallying the nation with the resolute declaration, “ZAMBIA SHALL BE SAVED.”

JONAH TO TARSHISH THAN NINEVEH IN 773 BC… JONAH TO LUSAKA THAN LONDON IN 2022 AD

JONAH TO TARSHISH THAN NINEVEH IN 773 BC

JONAH TO LUSAKA THAN LONDON IN 2022 AD

Like the Jonah of old in about 773 BC who took the boat to Tarshish instead of Nineveh; the Jonah of new in 2022 AD took the plane flight from BBC Broadcasting House, in Portland Place and Langham Place, London, England to Diamond TV House, Bwinjimfumu Road, Rhodespark, Lusaka, Zambia.

Jonah of old was during a seastorm thrown overboat and swallowed by a whale that rerouted him to Nineveh for his mission while Jonah of new during the climate change national disaster declaration social media storm, social media enthusiasts want to throw him onboard a flight to BBC London mission.

As a (distant) follower of Jonah of new I thought I heard when he won BBC Komla Dumor Award that the choice was actually his to either stay and work in London or return and work in Lusaka.

Therefore, there was no news to this or his boasting.

I was also reviewing my rejected job offers or resigned jobs that I am not obliged to debate with either family or social media when social media presumes I am on some desperate job hunt from UPND and HH after Prime TV fired me when I had resigned and rejected job offers.

Or that Prime TV rejected my resignation as the current job status before it sued me.

I actually unfriended a few presumptous Facebook friends, shut off one by telling him not to reply by inbox and almost blocked him after overzealous unsolicited advice of my need to take a UPND job than antagonising my UPND “enemies”.

Well, Jonah is Jonah whether in Tarshish or Lusaka; whether 773 BC or 2022 AD; whale or (Jesus) tomb before easter or plane flight.

Ave, Jonah for producing the job appointment letter without police abducting and detaining any doubting Thomas for three days in the belly of the police cells.

Let Jonah be, glory be.

BBC Offer Letter To Dingindaba Jonah Buyoya

BBC OFFER LETTER TO DINGI

Dingindaba Jonah Buyoya shares:

Journalists don’t make news, unless in American media.🤦🏿‍♂️😂

Here we are though. I would just like to state from the onset that I don’t think that people should always fall for the headlines. Most times, they tend to be different from the story.

A couple of months ago, I was contacted by a young journalist, whom I must say is passionate about her craft. She said she wanted to do an article about me and my career and I think my upbringing too. She sounded very young on the phone and typically, I’d actually refuse to do it because I don’t like such things. You’d be surprised that even when I won the Komla Dumor Award, I deleted all my social media apps, because the attention gives me anxiety. I did the same when I first hosted Focus on Africa.

I agreed to the interview because she sounded young and I assumed that she was probably someone inspired by my work (I get that a lot from my younger colleagues). I didn’t want to disappoint her.

My interview with her lasted something between 40 to 60 minutes. We talked about A LOT of things. We talked about my parents, my education, my career progression and along the way, the lady asked me if I’d ever want to join the BBC. I responded to the affirmative. I said yeah, definitely, I would. I also added that some things in the past made it difficult for me to accept an offer (that I actually applied for myself). The context of this is completely out.

After I came back home in 2022 from the BBC, I had to weigh several of my options. A lot of very personal things happened during that period and I truly wasn’t ready to accept the gig at that time. This is funny because I’m the one who applied for the job, so you can imagine how difficult that must have been. I had so much faith that more opportunities will come ( and they have) and I honestly was a little frustrated that with all the work I’ve done in my field, it only got attention when I was to work away from home.

When Costa and I sat down to discuss this development, he even told me that he will never understand my decision. I forwarded him all the emails and letters. To date, he says he doesn’t understand me. Maybe I’m a bit crazy, but I know what I’m doing.

Of course I didn’t say it how the headline reads, but the principle remains the same, I guess.

I want to state though, that this is not something I’d have wanted to even be discussed. It would never come from a place of spite and I am a little frustrated that context has been completely ignored.

It makes me wonder why people try so hard to find something to criticize about me. Most times, it is my age they don’t believe. Today, they’ve found something new.😅

I hope this adds context to the story though.

Ziggy Marley Praised Actor Quan Dajai Who Played Young Bob Marley In ‘One Love’

0

Ziggy Marley praised first-time actor Quan Dajai Henriques, who played young Bob Marley in the One Love biopic. The actor is being lauded for his stellar performance in the film that shattered some box office records upon its release on February 14. A lot of Jamaicans called his casting one of the best in the movie.

Ziggy Marley, who was instrumental in Henriques landing the role of a young Bob, says the actor really impressed him on the screen and on set. Quan has never acted in any role before but comes from a musical lineage, being a cousin of dancehall legend Sean Paul.

“Quan took this opportunity as a first time actor to really impress us with his natural talent and charisma but also with his willingness and humbleness to listen and learn. Everyone loved working with him,” Ziggy wrote. “There was so much Love shared amongst the cast and crew, positive vibes all the way thanks to youths like Quan. A bright future lays ahead brother. Don’t let them change you . JAH. #bobmarley #onelove.”

Quan Dajai Henriques showed great humility in what Ziggy Marley said in his comment thanking the film’s producer.

“My respects mi general!, It’s a divine honor, being chosen to help still amazes me and yknow I’m grateful and glad that I even could’ve. Anything to do with the light that your legacy, Rasta, Bob and your mom shines I’m there,” he wrote.

Quan was a fan favorite in the Bob Marley: One Love playing the role of an adolescence Bob Marley meeting Rita Marley for the first time and being introduced to Rastafarianism before rising to worldwide fame in the 1970s. Some fans of the film even suggest that he could’ve very well played the older Bob Marley as well given his close resemblance to the reggae legend and his stellar performance in the film.

Kingsley Ben-Adir, who played Bob Marley as we know him in the movie, also received a lot of praise for his performance in the film with some attributing his role for the tremendous success.

Bob Marley: One Love has had a stellar run in theaters worldwide and is now heading to digital streaming platforms, including Paramount Plus. More details on that to come, stay tuned to Urban Islandz.

Refusal to share girlfriend with visitor earns Ndola man knife stabs

AFTER being hosted overnight by a hospitable friend, a cheeky man of Ndola paid his colleague’s hospitality with several knife stabs to his neck.

The host’s only offense was that he refused to handover his girlfriend for the guest’s pleasure for the night.

24-year-old Abyshai Kaluba stabbed his friend Danny Tembo with a knife after he refused to share his lover with him.

The incident happened in August last year and has landed Kaluba an immediate adoption certificate to become one of General Fredrick Chilukutu’s orange dressed children behind bars.

Zambia Daily Mail reports that on the material night, Tembo, while home with his girlfriend, was visited by Kaluba, whom he gave a room and bed for him to spend the night.

But his sexual appetite could not let him sleep, and he started thinking from below his waist.

What Kaluba did next shocked even the devil, the ungrateful guest wanted to chew from the master’s pot of soup.

He woke up and started demanding to sleep with Tembo’s girlfriend which led to a confrontation and an exchange of offensive bemba vernacular that could even upset the Pope.

Who could have known that a night that started with Tembo welcoming Kaluba under his roof, offering a place to rest, concluded with the glint of a blade and a desperate struggle.

Kaluba shattered the guest-host bond, turning their quarters into a battleground and turned a Kitchen knife into a sword of war stabbing Tembo on the neck.

Tembo’s girlfriend later helped him to report the matter at Jacaranda Villa Police Post before being treated at Ndola Teaching Hospital.

The matter appeared before Ndola Magistrates Court and Kaluba admitted to the charge of unlawful wounding.

United States of America to leave military bases in Niger?

0

A top Pentagon official told Congress on Thursday that the U.S. has not received a formal request from Niger’s junta to depart the country, saying it has received mixed signals on whether the hundreds of U.S. troops there are no longer welcome.

Celeste Wallander, assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs, told the House Armed Services Committee that so far Niger’s ruling military council, known as the CNSP, has not formally asked the U.S. military to leave.

Wallander said the CNSP has said the status of forces agreement, which sets the terms of a U.S. military presence in a country, is now null and void. However, she said the junta has “assured us that American military forces are protected and they will take no action that will endanger them.”

The U.S. military has about 650 troops and another several hundred support personnel still in Niger, which in the past has been a critical hub for counterterrorism operations. But last July mutinous soldiers ousted the country’s democratically elected president and months later asked French forces to leave.

Wallander said the U.S. is continuing to look at ways to conduct operations against violent extremist organizations in the region.

In Niger, U.S. personnel have largely consolidated to one base and continue to run drone operations, but those are limited to force protection, Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said.

“There are ongoing conversations with the CNSP to discuss the path forward,” Singh said.

The quick turn of relations had some U.S. lawmakers questioning how Niger could go from a strategic ally to being run by a junta in such a short time.

U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Michael Langley, the head of U.S. Africa Command, said that disinformation has played a huge role in Niger and in a number of governments that have fallen across the Sahel in recent years.

There are more than 600 million people across the continent on social media now, compared to just a very small minority who had access just a decade ago, Langley said. Russia has actively and strategically saturated that audience with disinformation, Langley said.

“What we teach, the law of armed conflict and civilian-led governance is failing because it’s being drowned out,” Langley said.

Langley said he has asked the State Department for additional resources to counter Russia’s disinformation campaign.

Captured Somali pirates arrive in India to face trial over ship hijacking

0

India has brought 35 captured Somali pirates to Mumbai to stand trial, days after its navy recaptured a hijacked bulk carrier and rescued several hostages.

The destroyer INS Kolkata, which led the rescue operation, docked in India’s financial capital early on Saturday, a navy statement said.

The hijacking of the Maltese-flagged MV Ruen in December, east of Socotra in the northern Arabian Sea, was the first time since 2017 that any cargo vessel had been successfully boarded by Somali pirates.

Indian naval commandos took control of the vessel on March 17, some 260 nautical miles (480 kilometers) off the coast of Somalia, and rescued 17 crew members – nine from Myanmar, seven from Bulgaria, and one from Angola.

The Somalis are expected to be transferred to police custody later on Saturday.

At the peak of the Somali pirate attacks in 2011, the navy used to prosecute and jail in India those involved. But in recent months the navy has taken to recapturing vessels and rescuing crew but leaving the disarmed pirates at sea.

Navy spokesman Vivek Madhwal said this week that this marked the first time in more than a decade that pirates captured at sea would be brought to Indian shores to face trial.

Under India’s anti-piracy laws, the men could face the death sentence if they are convicted of a killing or an attempted killing, and life imprisonment for piracy alone.

Last Saturday’s rescue was the culmination of a 40-hour operation. Commandos parachuted out of a military C-17 aeroplane to board the vessel in an assault that “successfully cornered and coerced” all 35 pirates on board to surrender, an earlier navy statement said.

Bulgarian vessel owner Navibulgar called India’s rescue a “major success”.

‘Mother ship’

Somali pirates have in the past sought to capture a “mother ship” capable of sailing greater distances so they can target larger vessels.

The European Union Naval Force said the MV Ruen could have been used by pirates for their successful hijacking of the bulk carrier MV Abdullah off Somalia on March 12.

The Bangladesh-flagged MV Abdullah has since been steered into Somali waters, with its 23-member crew still held hostage.

India’s navy has been deployed continuously off Somalia since 2008, but it stepped up anti-piracy efforts last year following a surge in maritime assaults, including in the Arabian Sea and by Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in the Red Sea.

India has deployed at least a dozen warships in the Gulf of Aden and the northern Arabian Sea since December, which enables it to assist vessels east of the Red Sea.

In January, the navy rescued all crew members from a Liberian-flagged merchant vessel after its attempted hijack in the Arabian Sea.

At least 17 incidents of hijacking, attempted hijacking and suspicious approaches have been recorded by the Indian Navy since December 1.

At the peak of their attacks in 2011, Somali pirates cost the global economy an estimated $7bn, including hundreds of millions of dollars in ransom payments.

At least 18 other suspected pirates have been captured by India’s navy this year, including in operations to rescue three Iranian-flagged fishing vessels.

Information on the fate of those hijackers has not been publicly released.

Since the start of the Houthi attacks, launched in response to Israel’s war on Gaza, many cargo ships have slowed down far out at sea to await instructions on whether to proceed. Experts say that has left them vulnerable to attack.

University Of Zimbabwe Lecturers Earn US$2.50 Per Hour

0

Adjunct lecturers in the Law Faculty at Zimbabwe’s most prestigious university, the University of Zimbabwe, are earning US$2.50 per hour.

This was revealed in a memorandum dated March 13, 2024, on the “Remuneration of Adjunct Lecturers” that was addressed to the Deans of Faculties and Chairpersons of Departments by one Thulani Sheila Makamure. Part of the memo reads:

Please be advised that the Vice Chancellor approved a blended remuneration of Adjunct Lecturers with effects from 9 March 2024.

Adjunct Lecturers (formerly Part-Time Lecturers) will now be paid their salary claims in both local currency and in United States dollars on a 50/50 basis.

The United States dollar component will be calculated at two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour while the Zimbabwean dollar component remains the same.

This means that half their claims will be paid in Zimbabwean dollars and the other half in United States dollars up to a maximum of sixty (60) hours a month. Claim forms for Adjunct Lecturers must henceforth be denominated in both currencies as explained above.

Deans and Chairpersons of Departments should ensure that Adjunct Lecturers receive the necessary support to open Nostro accounts with their banks.

Commenting on the development, respected lawyer Fadzayi Mahere, who is also a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Mt Pleasant (CCC) said the low remuneration for lecturers may negatively affect the quality of teaching at the university. She wrote on X:

How can a university lecturer, even a part-time one, be paid US$2.50 an hour? Is this not an insult?

How do you expect to attract competent academic staff on such a slave wage? What impact will this have on the quality of teaching at the university?

Imagine teaching at the country’s biggest university and your hourly rate can’t even buy you a coffee? This nation is broken.

Do you expect any teaching to take place on such a slave wage? At which point will Govt feel embarrassment at its irrational, broken policies?

Do you send your children to these universities or are the poor just left to deal with whatever insulting crumbs you throw at them?

However, self-exiled former ZANU PF politburo member Jonathan Moyo said the letter had been misinterpreted.

Moyo argued that the letter is not about the “earnings” of UZ lecturers who are full-time or permanent or tenured members of the teaching staff; but about part-time teaching staff, whom UZ now calls “Adjunct Lecturers”.

He said it is also not true that the letter says part-time lecturers at UZ “will now be earning US$2.50 per hour. Added Moyo:

… rather the letter clearly says, “Adjunct Lecturers (formerly Part-Time Lecturers) will now be paid their salary claims in both local currency and in United States dollars on a 50/50 basis”.

In other words, the letter says half of the earnings of part-time lecturers at UZ will be paid in local currency, and half in foreign currency.

In this connection, the letter says foreign currency has been pegged at “two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour while the Zimbabwean dollar component remains the same”.

Because they are teaching on a part-time basis, the part time lecturers are authorised to work for a maximum of 60 hours per months, which translates to an average of 15 hours per week. They cannot do more hours, like full-timers.

This stands to reason because, by definition, part-time lecturers work or have commitments at other workplaces where they may, in fact, be working full-time and making more money there.

Moyo further argued that teaching time is done for a range of reasons; which include but are not limited to supplementing one’s income, keeping abreast with developments in one’s professional field or building one’s professional curriculum vitae, among others.

“89% of Malawians believe the nation is going wrong direction under Lazarus Chakwera”-Afrobarometer

The country’s research think-tank Afrobarometer survey shows over 89% of Malawians believe that the nation is going to the wrong direction under President Lazarus Chakwera’s leadership.

The survey further reveals that over 85% Malawians say Chakwera has failed to manage the economy and have lost trust that he can fix the economy again.

The research adds that eight people in every 10 people they feel the economy has crushed. Poverty levels has gone up.

Afrobarometer surveys which has been released on Thursday, March 14, 2024 adds that a sample of this size yields country-level results with a margin of error of +/-3 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.

Previous surveys were conducted in Malawi in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2017, and 2019.

Key findings of the survey including;
1.Large majorities offer negative assessments of economic conditions: 85% describe the
country’s economic situation as “fairly bad” or “very bad,” and 74% say the same about their personal living conditions.

2.Looking ahead, Malawians are pessimistic about the country’s economy: Only 16% think things will get better in 12 months’ time, while 63% expect them to get worse.

3.More than eight in 10 citizens say the government is performing “fairly badly” or “very badly” on management of the economy (85%) and other key economic tasks. Management of the economy tops the list of most important problems that Malawians want their government to address.

  1. Almost two-thirds (63%) of citizens say they went without a cash income “many times” or “always” during the previous year, and 35% frequently went without enough food.
  1. Almost four in 10 Malawians (37%) experienced high levels of lived poverty during the past year, while another 38% experienced moderate lived poverty.

THE SURVEY COMES BARELY A MONTH AFTER MALAWI CATHOLIC BISHOPS REBUKED CHAKWERA FOR TAKING CITIZENS TO BAGAMOYO INSTEAD OF PROMISED CANAAN.

Afrobarometer is a pan-African, non-partisan survey research network that provides reliable data on African experiences and evaluations of democracy, governance, and quality of life.

Nine survey rounds in up to 42 countries have been completed since 1999.

Round 9 surveys (2021/2023) cover 39 countries. Afrobarometer’s national partners conduct face-to-face
interviews in the language of the respondent’s choice.

The Afrobarometer team in Malawi, led by the Centre for Social Research, interviewed a nationally representative sample of 1,200 adult Malawians in April 2022.

Chiwenga Grabs Zim Military Power

0

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has regained military control after the new Air Force of Zimbabwe Commander Air Marshal John Jacob Nzvede occupied office.

Nzvede took over from Air Marshal Elson Moyo, who was fired by President Emmerson Mnangagwa two weeks ago.

Nzvede is Chiwenga’s close ally, just like Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) commander Lieutenant-General Anselem Sanyatwe.

Nzvede and Sanyatwe were on Chiwenga’s wedding committee in December last year.

‘Insiders’ quoted by Newshawks were cited as saying Chiwenga’s wedding to military intelligence officer Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi (47), 20 years his junior, was a major political affair.

The wedding is said to have been a political statement and an endorsement of Chiwenga’s power ambitions and strategic manoeuvres.

Sanyatwe represented the military, while the Air Force was represented by retired Air Marshal Shebba Shumbayawonda, now ambassador to Egypt, and Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services by Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu.

The Military Intelligence Directorate, where Chiwenga’s wife works, was represented by its commander Major-General Thomas Moyo.

Together with deputy Senate president retired Lieutenant-General Mike Nyambuya and Sanyatwe, Shumbayawonda was part of Chiwenga’s bridal team.

Chiwenga’s best man retired Lieutenant-General Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah (71), is a Namibian diplomat and former military commander.

Ndaitwah is said to be critical in terms of Chiwenga’s regional power matrix and manoeuvres.

He is married to Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Namibia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, who is also the current SWAPO vice-president.

Before his death, the late Namibian President Hage Geingob named Nandi-Ndaitwah as the SWAPO presidential candidate in the November 2024 general election.

She will almost certainly become the new President of Namibia in November, and this will be a major boost to Chiwenga’s political prospects.

Sanyatwe, former Presidential Guard commander, who was removed with other commanders in 2019, is back at the helm of the Zimbabwe National Army.

This means Chiwenga now has a firmer grip again on the army after his allies were removed following the November 2017 coup which brought President Emmerson Mnangagwa to power.

Chiwenga is said to be locked in a fierce power struggle and delicate political brinksmanship with Mnangagwa.

Chiwenga is tightening his grip on the army, aiming to regain political clout and position himself for power.

Meanwhile, Mnangagwa maintains control of the situation through Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) commander General Philip Valerio Sibanda, who is expected to leave the army soon.

Mnangagwa tried to appoint Sibanda a member of the ZANU PF decision-making politburo last year at the ZANU PF annual conference in Gweru, but his political move was deemed unconstitutional and unlawful, forcing him to retreat.

The President’s reported allies are said to be still in charge in the second layer of the ZNA command element, although there was an attempt to remove them recently through an internal corruption investigation.

The Zimbabwean army, intricately entwined with politics, has wielded significant influence over the nation’s political and military trajectory during pivotal historical moments — from the Mgagao Declaration in 1975 to the November 2017 coup.

If Sibanda goes and Chiwenga appoints his ally, retired Lieutenant-General Engelbert Rugeje, as ZDF commander, Chiwenga will gain full control of the military and position himself as the likely next President after Mnangagwa.

Trump claims he has ‘five hundred million dollars in cash

0

Donald Trump claimed he has half a billion dollars in cash ahead of the deadline to pay the $454million New York fraud fine.

The former president disclosed this during a series of rants on Truth Social.

He didn’t mention paying the bond and insisted that a ‘substantial amount’ of the huge haul of money was set aside for his campaign.

Trump also hinted that New York Attorney General Letitia James and Judge Engoron chose the huge fine to stop him from running for president.

The rant came hours after it was revealed James had made her first moves to seize properties in Westchester and after his lawyers asked the court to delay the judgment or lower it to a fraction of the amount, citing the inability to obtain underwriting.

The attorney general formally registered judgements in Westchester County where Trump has the two properties just north of Manhattan on March 6.

According to the county clerk’s online database, the judgements were registered against Trump, the Trump Organization, and his two adult sons Don Jr. and Eric. The action was first reported by Bloomberg News.

That could be a signal that James intends to slaps liens on Trump’s luxury Seven Springs property or his golf property in the county.

Trump has until Monday to pay the fine, or his accounts could be frozen and the process to seize his assists could begin. Trump’s prized Manhattan assets, from his stake in the Art Deco skyscraper at 40 Wall Street to Trump Tower could be at risk.

In the all-caps message on Friday morning, Trump wrote:

‘THROUGH HARD WORK, TALENT, AND LUCK, I CURRENTLY HAVE ALMOST FIVE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS IN CASH, A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF WHICH I INTENDED TO USE IN MY CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT.

‘THE OFTEN OVERTURNED POLITICAL HACK JUDGE ON THE RIGGED AND CORRUPT A.G. CASE, WHERE I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG, KNEW THIS, WANTED TO TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME, AND THAT’S WHERE AND WHY HE CAME UP WITH THE SHOCKING NUMBER WHICH, COUPLED WITH HIS CRAZY INTEREST DEMAND, IS APPROXIMATELY $454,000,000.

‘I DID NOTHING WRONG EXCEPT WIN AN ELECTION IN 2016 THAT I WASN’T EXPECTED TO WIN, DID EVEN BETTER IN 2020, AND NOW LEAD, BY A LOT, IN 2024.THIS IS COMMUNISM IN AMERICA!

He added: THE NEW YORK A.G. USED A STATUTE TO GO AFTER ME THAT HAS NEVER BEEN USED BEFORE, NOT ONCE, FOR SUCH A PURPOSE. IT, IN AND OF ITSELF, IS SOOO UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND UNFAIR.

‘UNDER THIS STATUTE, I GET NO JURY AND HAVE NO RIGHTS. All DECISIONS AND RIGHTS ARE GIVEN TO, IN THIS CASE, A CORRUPT, TRUMP HATING JUDGE, WHO CAME UP WITH A CRAZY, OUT OF THIN AIR AWARD, IN ORDER TO DAMAGE ME POLITICALLY, AND NOT ALLOW ME TO USE ANY OF THE LARGE AMOUNT OF CASH I HAVE BUILT UP OVER THE YEARS, THROUGH HARD WORK, INSIGHT, INSTINCT, AND DILIGENCE, ON MY POLITICAL CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT.

‘THAT IS JUST WHAT CROOKED JOE BIDEN WANTED THIS POLITICAL HACK, COUPLED WITH A CORRUPT AND RACIST ATTORNEY GENERAL, TO DO. I DID NOTHING WRONG!

‘THIS IS SIMPLY A “TAKING.” MUCH LIKE WHAT IS DONE IN COMMUNIST COUNTRIES, AND WILL LEAVE AN IRREPARABLE STAIN ON NEW YORK STATE AND ITS JUDICIAL SYSTEM. IT IS TOTALLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL, INCLUDING THE HARSH GAG ORDER IMPOSED.

THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS WAS ALREADY RULED ON, FOR ME!’

His claim to have almost half a billion in cash smacks up against arguments in legal filings by his lawyers, who claim Trump has been unable to obtain underwriting for a bond.

THEY ARE NOW LOOTING MINES USING THEIR FRIENDS- HON MUNDUBILE

0

THEY ARE NOW LOOTING MINES USING THEIR FRIENDS- HON MUNDUBILE.

…….slams the UPND for violating the Constitution regarding the Mopani Transaction.

Lusaka…..Saturday, March 23, 2024. [SMART EAGLES].

We have leaders who are looting our Mines, bringing in friends and handing over state assets free of charge using ‘imingalato’, Leader of Opposition Hon Brian Mundubile has charged.

This comes in the wake of the Handing Over of Mopani Copper Mines to Delta Mining Limited (Delta) of Dubai whose details have been shrouded in secrecy.

And Hon Mundubile has slamed the UPND Government for violating the Constitution in the manner the Mopani transaction has been done.

Article 210(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia states that; (2) A major State asset shall be sold, transferred or otherwise disposed of, as prescribed, subject to the approval of the National
Assembly signified by a vote of at least two-thirds of the Members of Parliament.

For the purposes of this Article, “major State asset” includes a parastatal and equity held by the Government, as prescribed.

However, Government has sold 51% shares of the Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines-Investment Holdings (ZCCM-IH) in Mopani Copper Mines, with no regard to the mentioned provision of the constitution.

Speaking Friday, Hon Mundubile said the lack of Transparency regarding the Mopani deal is by design because the real owners of that Mine will soon be Known.

“Our worry is that because of the lack of transparency in that transaction, the operations will be shrouded in secrecy and because of that, we may start facing problems not too long from now.

There was no mention, of the consideration of what Zambians will get in exchange with the asset. We are interested to know. We expected the President to come to parliamnet to announce the transaction , and come to parliament for approval. Our concern has been the violation of our Constitution,” he said.

Hon Mundubile said it is shame that looters of Mines are walking Scott free while innocent Citizens are trooping in and out of court for merely owning a House.

He said the real criminals are making shadow companies to loot the mines.

“They are walking the street of Zambia without being followed by security agencies. We have our brothers in and out of that court by merely building a house. The real criminals are seating behind in Government today. They make shadow companies to come and loot our Mines.

When the members of Parliament went to KCM and found mining operations called sensele Mine, at the point the ownership of that company could not be ascertained. There is a nexus between those individuals who were mining there and the owners of the mine,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hon Mundubile said if the Republican President is serious about fighting corruption, the country must know how much he is worth.

“We want to agree with Musa Mwenya that that there should be penal sanctions for failing to declare assets. If they are serious about fighting corruption, they must come forth and declare what they have. We have brothers and sisters accused of proceeds of crime for merely owning houses today we have leaders bringing in friends by handing over state assets free of charge using mingalato,” he said.

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO ZAMBIANS – KALABA

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO ZAMBIANS – KALABA

… for condemning them to hunger and poverty by selling maize in the national reserves.

MAZABUKA, SATURDAY, MARCH, 23, 2024 [SMART EAGLES]

Citizens First President Harry Kalaba says the move by President Hakainde Hichilema and his Government to sell maize in the strategic national reserves was very reckless.

Speaking when he featured on Maz FM special program in Mazabuka yesterday, Mr. Kalaba said the move has subjected Zambians to hunger and poverty.

He said had the UPND heeded calls from stakeholders against offloading maize to neighboring countries the hunger situation caused by skyrocketing mealie meal prices could have been avoided.

Mr. Kalaba said the honorable thing for President Hichilema to do is to apologize to Zambians for the reckless decision which has condemned many households to poverty and hunger.

” President Hakainde Hichilema should apologise to Zambians for condemning them to hunger and poverty by selling the 1.5 million metric tonnes reserve maize stocks causing food shortages and looming hunger in the country, ” Mr. Kalaba said.

And Mr. Kalaba said the UPND Government should be ashamed that after recklessly selling maize to neighboring countries, they now want to play victim by parading themselves before international media and begging for help.

The CF President also also castigated President Hichilema for lying that the entire country had not received any single drop of rains in two months and that the drought being experienced in the country is the first one in 100 years.

He said President Hichilema should learn to be truthful instead of telling lies even to the International community.

” President Hichilema should stop playing the victim by parading himself before international media houses and begging for help after ignoring advise from experts and the opposition against selling and emptying maize stocks in strategic national reserves, ” Mr. Kalaba.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kalaba took time to interact with Mazabuka residents who complained about the high cost of living and hunger in their homes.

Mr. Kalaba also sympathized with farmers in Southern province whose maize fields have dried up due to drought in the area.

A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT BY CATHOLIC FATHERS ON THE COPPERBELT….👇👇👇

Congratulations President Hakainde Hichilema on fixing issues which affected the operation of the Mine Mopani.

By Fr Emmanuel Bwalya

The world is increasingly becoming a global village with ever growing nation to nation interdependency on so many fronts. A nation, no matter how wealthy it might be, can not sustain it’s level of wealth without trading and cooperating with other nations. Zambia is no exception in this regard and for this reason, it is vital that we rethink and refine the way we conduct ourselves in regards to international business relations.

During Patriotic Front Party in Government, we failed to clearly determine what our strategic goals are as a nation and what we needed to achieve from engagement with foreign players in regards to our strategic goals.

There was lack of moral or ethical back bone by our PF officials and negotiators to insist on what is best for our country.

DR Congo is the richest country in Africa in terms of resources, has far bigger population than Zambia but can not attract quality investors because of their political challenges as a country. Zambia has less resources and market access than congo, but it has attracted more investment per capita than congo from the time you became President Sir simply because Zambia has offered a better business environment and security than congo. The opposition do not seem to understand what capital resources is, no wander we are seeing people like Fred M’Membe SP bitter about the money which was injected in mopani. But let them not distract you Sir as you produce good results!

Mauritius, Botswana and Rwanda were attracting better foreign direct investment per capita than Zambia under PF simply because they created a reputation as better managed countries than Zambia. Leadership was the issue back then.

Sir with your leadership our country will become the ultimate investment destination, I know within this year, your Government will take drastic steps towards being ranked in the top 5 African countries in terms of the rule of law, security, ease of doing business and tax rates.

May God Bless You President Hichilema!

It shouldn’t surprise us if we wake up tomorrow to find Mr Kakubo is back as Minister of Foreign Affairs- Fred M’membe

WHEN YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW

It’s a script. A sequence of events are being rolled out as per plan.

This is what happens to leaders when power corrupts them and corrupts absolutely. They get detached from reality.

And the sense of fear and respect for the people who elected them and the state systems vanishes. They begin to force things. They do what they want and in the manner they want it done, regardless of the consequences.

Sadly, such leaders can never be advised about their actions or their misjudgments. They think they’re shrewd, but we have seen such things in this country before and how they’ve ended disastrously.

That said, can Mr Hakainde Hichilema reappoint Mr Stanley Kakubo back to his previous portfolio – Minister of Foreign Affairs – which he has kept for all this time. It shouldn’t surprise us if we wake up tomorrow to find Mr Kakubo is back as Minister of Foreign Affairs! All these auditions, scripts, and monkey tricks Mr Hichilema is doing are just a waste of time.

Zambians are not fools. They know what is happening and where this whole Kakubo saga is heading and how it will end.

And let them not even cheat themselves that they’re clever and sophisticated enough to hide their intentions. Nothing about Mr Hichilema and his administration is surprising anymore. By now, Zambians know that they’re a fraudulent and lying leadership. And so, not much of decency, integrity and honesty is expected from them.

So, whatever they do with this matter, the joke is on them. Which government, donor agency, or international partner will respect and take Mr Kakubo seriously in whatever portfolio they may return him in, worse off, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

International relations and diplomacy are very serious undertakings and states, and leaders are treated and judged based on the character, decency, and CV of the individuals they present to the world as their face.

With the litany of stories, explanations, and scandals around him, is Mr Kakubo the right face for the job? Time will tell.

When I stood as a Mayor for Lusaka, Simon Mwewa Lane was part of my sponsors- Chilufya Tayali

0

EEP President Chilufya Tayali

I AM BEING SPONSORED BY ZAMBIANS, LIKE SIMON MWEWA LANE, NOT BA-EDGAR LUNGU

I have read what BaChitambala has written that;

“CHILUFYA TAYALI’S SPONSORS

“Expensive hotel bills, food and transport in a foreign country…eventually ba Edgar will get tired of sending Tayali money and very soon Tayali will be washing dishes in restaurants as an illegal alien 👽” – SMLtv”

My source of money has always eluded many, 😂😂😂, yet some of them, among those who speculate, they are part of my sponsors.

Don’t get it twisted, by what Simon Mwewa Lane says, that man is one of my big sponsors and I am grateful to him, that’s why I can’t speak bad of him, kuti watuka big buyer.

When I stood as a Mayor for Lusaka, Simon Mwewa Lane was part of my sponsors. The man gave me money for campaigns.

When I was about to go to jail, Simon Mwewa Lane didn’t just come kuma cells to see me, he gave me money as well.

Of course BaLungu was the first to send the money but Simon Mwewa Lane also sent me money. Bishop Lungu also sent me something.

In my business of advertising, on social media, BaChitambala has been one of my big clients and records are there to show.

So, while BaChitambala maybe confusing you about my sponsors, the man has been very generous to me and I am highly grateful.

Of course he has not yet sent me ka-something for my travels or upkeep whilst in the diaspora, but I know BaChitambala will not let me suffer, he will help out.

Truth be told, it is not easy living out here and I miss my family, my home, my life and everything, including Chilenje, Salama Park and Ibex Hill, (okonja mukutushisha ngomwaume).

I have a great life back home, driving my Hilux, selling vegetables from my gardens, dancing with my Kiya. It’s really nice back home.

Unfortunately, BaHakainde is causing us to scatter due to his dictatorship. The man is ruthless, vindictive and bitter, but only for a while.

I actually doubt HH will live in Zambia after his tenure, because he is sowing so much hatred against himself.

Anyway, I will be back sooner than you think, but remember me nga mwabeula.

TSHISEKEDI REGIME , STATE HOUSE LINKED TO MOPANI COPPER MINES DEAL- Fred M’membe

TSHISEKEDI REGIME , STATE HOUSE LINKED TO MOPANI COPPER MINES DEAL

It is reported that the Democratic Republic of Congo regime of Felix Tshisekedi introduced Mopani Copper Mines’ new equity partner – International Resources Holdings (IRH) – to Zambia’s State House.

It is also reported that Abu Dhabi- based IRH is currently engaged in a legal dispute with some Congolese firms whose concessions have been illegally taken over by the Tshisekedi regime and handed to IRH in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Yesterday, we announced that there were stories flying around that Mr Hakainde Hichilema has sold to himself, Mopani Copper Mines.

According to the stories circulating, it is being reported that around June 20, 2023, four firms were shortlisted as successful bidders for the acquisition of a stake in Mopani Copper Mines. These firms were Sibanye, Zijin Mining, Norinco Group, and a Consortium of exGlencore officials.

And that around July 2023, it was rumoured that Sibanye Still Waters and Zinjing were the only two remaining successful bidders contending to acquire equity in Mopani Copper Mines after Norinco Group and a Consortium of ex-Glencore officials were dropped.

It is also being reported that around August 2023, a “secret” company threw in a late bid through State House, and this delayed the announcing of the successful bidder for Mopani Copper Mines. Can this government explain why the “secret” company’s bid came through State House? Can they also explain the relationship between this “secret” company and the Tshisekedi regime?

And that On October 17, 2023, it was announced that Jubilee Metals Group and Mopani Copper Mines formed a JV for the Slag Project in Mufulira, targeting 13 Mt of historical slag with estimated copper and cobalt deposits.

That on December 1, 2023, ZCCM-Investment Holdings announced that an affiliated company of Abu Dhabi conglomerate International Resources Holdings (IRH) is the preferred bidder to take over Mopani Copper Mine (MCM)

And that on December 12, 2023, it was announced that Jubilee Metals Group had formed a strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi-based International Resources Holdings (IRH) to recover copper from a historic waste dump in Zambia. This partnership entailed that “Under the funding term sheet IRH undertakes to provide all capital to the tune of $50m required by the special purpose vehicle through a combination of equity in the special purpose vehicle and shareholder loans.

On March 6, 2024, it was announced that Jubilee Metals Group plc, a leading diversified metals processor in Africa, with a substantial contribution to global chrome concentrate production in South Africa (SA Operations) and expanding copper operations in Zambia (Zambia Operations), has announced the formation of dedicated executive subsidiary boards to better reflect the current levels of business maturity attained by the South African and Zambia operations and capture and implement the various growth opportunities. The Zambian Board will include Jubilee’s Chief Executive Officer, Leon Coetzer, as chairperson of the Zambian Board and joined by current Chief of Energy Metals, Ricus Grimbeek, as Managing Director. Mr Muna Hantuba, a businessman offering a wealth of local industry and country knowledge, will also join the Zambian Board.

Who is Mr Muna Hantuba? Mr Hantuba is a long-time close business associate, agent, and confidant of Mr Hichilema and is said to be the man running some of his businesses.

It’s being reported that the above sequence of events starting from the coming of the International Resources Holdings late bid for Mopani Copper Mines through State House and eventual success of the same bid and then the Jubilee Metals Group’s JV with Mopani Copper Mines vis a vis the partnership of Jubilee Metals Group with the International Resources Holdings (IHR) and the $50 million loan by IHR to Jubilee Metals Group to the appointment of Mr Hantuba is something that should raise eye brows as it can be a case of a deal by State House disguised in investment into Mopani.

It is being questioned if this is a mere coincidence that Mr Hichilema’s confidant and business associate and agent can be associated with the sale of Mopani and have an indirect stake in the slug dump by virtual of sitting on the Jubilee Metals Group Board?

Further, can this government disclose to the nation the current valuation of the current assets such as the Henderson shaft, the scycronoriam, the new smelter, the concentrator, and the Mindola shaft?

It is being reported that all these facilities are new and state of the art, built at a huge cost, and that at the point of exit, all these facilities were supposed to be commissioned. Also, let them explain what the value of the 51 per cent consideration is and what has been paid so far? And how did IRH, a company established in 2022, slightly after Mr Hichilema and the UPND took over office, become the preferred bidder for a strategic national asset like Mopani Copper Mines? What criteria did they apply?

Like we said yesterday, all these stories, reports and revelations about this transaction deserve explanations from Mr Hichilema, since he has sold a huge stake in Mopani Copper Mines without parliamentary approval in blatant violation of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.

Let Mr Hichilema come clean on these issues. Zambians deserve to know the truth.

PF MPS TELL POLICE IG TO RESIGN

PF MPS TELL POLICE IG TO RESIGN

…..for calling police officers as Junkies

Lusaka….Friday, March 22, 2024 [Smart Eagles].

Graphel Musamba must resign as Inspector General of Police for calling police officers as Junkies, the Patriotic Front Members of Parliament have said.

Mr Musamba has been known for making statements which many stakeholders have deemed to be political.

He recently said that some of the police officers recruited under the previous regime are ‘Junkies’.

But Leader of Opposition Hon Brian Mundubile said Mr Musamba must pave way for new and fresh minds who will respect the dignity of the Police officers.

He said the country cannot allow the IG to demonize his fellow officers who were trained by the Government at a great cost.

Hon Mundubile said the police officers have served the country with patriotism.

He said there is need to look back and appreciate the services these officers have rendered to the nation and Condemn the statement by Inspector General of Police.

Hon Mundubile argues that had there been junkies in the police service, there would not have been a smooth transition of power in 2021.

“There is only one thing he can do, which is to resign so that new people can assume that leadership and begin to respect the officers… in 2026 when there is a change of Government, it will become very difficult for the officers to remain in service because then Musamba would have declared them to be UPND. He should do one thing that is Honourable which is to resign so that new people can be appointed in that position, ” he said.

Meanhwile, Hon Mundubile is concerned with the rate at which the UPND Government is ignoring Constitutional provisions.

He has cited the sell of Mopani Copper Mines as one of the many instances the Current Government has done the opposite of what the constitution says.

“A National asset must be sold subject to approval by parliament through a vote of atleast 2/3 majority in parliament. But this never happened in the Mopani deal. we are concerned that lack of transparency is becoming the order of the day. The lack of transparency at Mopani is by design, because the real owners will be Known. Because of lack of transparency, the proceeds will be shrouded in secrecy. Article 210 (2) has been violated in this transaction,” he said.

PF To Be Evicted From Its Head Offices For Failure To Pay K1,180,000 Outstanding Rentals

Main opposition PF offices at verge of being grabbed

The moves to decimate the main opposition andbimmediate former ruling party – Patriotic Front (PF) has now gone into high gear with a new move to grab and evict them from their head offices in Lusaka.

According to a notice of demand, Juldan properties, the company which owns the property used as the PF head offices in Lusaka have given the Patriotic Front (PF) a 7 Days ultimatum to pay in full a sum of K1,180,000 outstanding rentals failure to which, the former ruling party will be evicted.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Zambian Business Times -ZBT, A. Mbambara legal practitioners representing Juldan properties confirmed the development and noted that the PF’s failure to pay the overdue amount owed to Juldan properties will attract legal action and possible eviction.

“Our client leased the premises to them and they didn’t pay their rental arrears and we don’t know where their current legal office is. We’ve been unable to serve the notice personally to the PF secretary General and that is why we advertised it in that notice to the press before we actually sue them.” the associate revealed but asked that their name be withheld.

Meanwhile, according to a notice dated 11th March, 2024 from A. Mbambara legal practitioners addressed to the PF Secretary General seen by ZBT, the PF have been given a 7 days ultimatum to pay their office rental dues failure to which will attract embarrassing and tedious ligation.

” We act for Juldan properties (hereinafter referred to as “our client”), kindly note our professional interest. Our client informs us that you are in default of payment for office rentals, and that despite numerous reminders, the above due sum remains unpaid. In view of the foregoing, we have been instructed to demand from you, as we do now the immediate payment of the overdue sum of K1,180, 000 to be paid in full within 7 days”.

“Should you neglect to pay the said amount, we hold firm instructions to proceed to court. Further, note, that should the matter go to court, you will be liable to pay not only the above captioned amount with interest, but also legal costs and other attendant expenses in connection thereto. We trust you will act prudently and avert the costly, embarrassing and tedious ligation,” read the notice.

The main opposition PF has had their office holders record amended with a creation of two factions in what looks like the historical trend or political play book were the ruling party embarks on destroying their main opposition in the hope of securing a second term.- Zambian Business Times -ZBT,

Tasila Lungu likely to lose Sinda farm to the State

Tasila likely to lose Sinda farm to the State

CHAWAMA constituency member of parliament Tasila Lungu is likely to lose her Sinda farm to the State as judgement has been set for next month by the Economic and Financial Crimes Court after she failed to defend her property.

In this case, the State wants to grab Tasila’s farm no. F/2278 in Sinda district which has fish ponds constructed at K13, 950, 378.83 which is said to be way beyond her income.

The Court had set hearing for the case on February 14, 2024 but Tasila filed an affidavit in opposition to the forfeiture weeks after hearing claiming she did not engage in crime to acquire the property.

Tasila claimed that she was not aware that the Court had already set hearing for the main matter, as her lawyers were not notified about the hearing date a month before.

The expecting Tasila said she was unwell and unable to give her lawyers instructions to go and get pictures of the farm in Sinda so that they can adequately prepare to oppose Emmanuel Khondowe’s findings.

Tasila charged that the request by the DPP to have her Sinda farm confiscated is evil-intentioned just because her father lost superior authority after having been rejected by 2.8 million Zambians in the August 12, 2021 poll.

Lungu’s most prominent baby argued that the price of her farm no. F/2278 in Sinda district of Eastern province is K300,000 and not the inflated price of K13, 950, 378.83.

The law maker further raised preliminary issue seeking determination on whether the Director of Public Prosecutions has the legal capacity to sue and be sued.

She wanted the Court to ascertain whether public prosecutors can represent the Director of Public Prosecution who is legally nonexistent among other issues.

During hearing before Judges Susan Wanjelani, Pixie Yangailo and Vincent Siloka, Tasila’s lawyer Nkhula Botha argued that the Court had no authority to hear the matter as the DPP Gilbert Phiri has no legal capacity to sue and be sued.

Botha said since the DPP was non existent State advocates from the National Prosecutions Authority,(NPA) cannot
represent such a person.

He also argued that the case was wrongly commenced under Order 30 Rule 15 and 17 of the High Court Rules.

Botha said DEC should have anchored its application on clear provisions that allowed
it to institute matters by way of Originating Notice of Motion and not just loosely picking on the words “motion”.

He added that the process was bad and had no legs to stand on.

In reply State advocate Margaret Chitundu argued that by virtue of Article 180(😎 of the Constitution the DPP can delegate his functions to a legal practitioner or public prosecutor.

She said the matter was correctly before before Court.

Chitundu added that the originating notice of motion was not bad at law as the defects which were identified can be corrected.

Botha reiterated that Article 180 of the Constitution creates a portfolio of the DPP but it does not create or give him legal capacity to sue and be sued.

Ruling on the application judge Wanjelani said the matter was properly commenced bythe DPP.

She said Botha misdirected himself by trying to divorce the function of the DPP from the National Prosecution Authority.

“In conclusion we find that all the preliminary issues raised are bereft of any merit and are dismissed,” ordered judge Wanjelani.

“Consequently, and following our directive at the last hearing that if we dismiss the
preliminary issue, we shall proceed to render Judgment based on the record before us as the substantive matter is unopposed.”

The Court set April 19, 2024 for judgement and condemned Tasila to costs, which will be taxed in default of agreement…

Zambia Betrayed

0

The IMF MD, Kristalina Georgieva has turned Zambia into a bad case study of “how not to negotiate deals with creditors”. She has advised Ghanaian President to keep national interests in mind when negotiating deals with creditors and avoid being arm-twisted like what was done to Zambia!

Is this is not betrayal? The IMF has been touting Zambia as a good example of frugal managers of national debt and debt restructuring icons. But the IMF MD statement in Ghana means only three things:

(1) Zambian negotiators did not take into account national interest when dealing with bondholders, hence the bad results of those negotiations.
(2) Zambia is incapable of resisting arm-twisting by international creditors.
(3) Zambia has reached bad agreement with bondholders, and she blames the country for such bad deals (the type that Ghana must avoid at all costs)

But how can this be when we have hired best international transaction advisors to lead our negotiations with creditors (including private bondholders and other commercial lenders)? So our money has been wasted?

Lesson to Zambian leaders.
Learn to listen to your nationals on matters of national importance. You lose nothing and you have everything to gain. The IMF MD knew all along that our debt-restructuring efforts lacked the most important ingredient- defense of our national interest. We have just been obsessed with reaching agreement without regard to consequences, simply to show that we are better than those who contracted the debt in the first place!

My advice- reverse what is going on in the mining industry before it is too late. Everything being done in that sector is devoid of defense of national interest. The Mopani, KCM and Kansanshi mine deals are all devoid of care for the future of this nation, care for the needs of our future generations. We don’t need the IMF and the World Bank to use us again as a case study of bad investment negotiators.

All these deals being made in the mining sector are a betrayal of our national interest and they are simply setting up foundations for their future reversal. Even those investors agreeing to enter into such deals must know that the future of such investment is impaired. They will last only as long as the UPND Government lasts.

SENIOR BRE INDUNA INETE PUT TO REST.

22nd March, 2024

LIMULUNGA- Senior Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) Induna Inete has been put to rest.

Mr Mwangelwa Akapelwa Silumbu was laid to rest at Silumbu Family Cemetery behind Mukola School.

And UPND Secretary General Mr Batuke Imenda was today among hundreds of mourners who attended the burial of the the Inete.

Mr Mwangelwa died on Sunday night at his house in Limulunga Royal village after been shot at his house by unknown People.

The burial was attended by Electoral Commission Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis, Minister of Water and Sanitation, Mike Mposha, Deputy Secretary to the cabinet, Dr Oliver Kalabo, UPND Deputy Secretary General, Getrude Imenda, Western Province Minister, Kapelwa Mbangweta, UPND National Youth Chairperson, Gilbert Liswaniso, State House legal Advisor, Christopher Mundia, Zambia Correctional Services Deputy Chairperson, Sibote Sibote, Former Minister of Western Province, Richard Mwapela, UPND National Trustee, Patricia Nawa, Prince Nkomeshya and other Several Government and Party Officials.

Induna Inete was the one heading SAA KUTA in Mongu District where appeals from all Chiefdoms in Mongu and Limulunga districts are determined.

There is two Court system both at Lealui and Limulunga Palaces. Induna Inete presides over SAA KUTA (Court) while the Ngambela Presides over SIKALO KUTA where appeals from all District traditional Courts (Mileneñi) are determined. SIKALO KUTA is the appellate and final traditional Court in Western Province

When both SIKALO and SAA KUTA meet to discuss traditional matters of Western Province, this is what is referred to as KUTA ya MBOO.

The Powers or status of Induna Inete is equivalent to that of the Ngambelas of District traditional Courts such as Lyashimba of Mwandi Palace in Mwandi, Imangambwa of Naliele Palace in Kaoma, Yutanga of Namayula Palace in Lukulu, Muleta of Libonda in Kalabo and Mutundwalo of Kaunga-mashi Palace in Shangombo. However, the status of Induna Inete is unique since Mongu district has no chief for the District and he is presumed to be acting as chief for Mongu but he is just an Induna from the commoners.

Furthermore, he is closer to the Ngambela and the Litunga.

One thing you can’t take away from HH is that he’s a shrewd and resilient politician, like an Impala in the Jungle full of hungry lions – Sean Tembo

ABOUT UKWA: OUR DETAILED POSITION AS PeP

By Sean Tembo – PeP President

1. When the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) was first announced a few weeks ago, a number of media houses reached out to us and sought our position as Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) on whether we shall be joining the alliance in question. Our response was very brief, and purposefully so. We said that we support the formation of UKA and that in future we may consider joining them, but for now we shall only be with them in spirit.

2. However, about four weeks later, it has now become necessary that we state our detailed position regarding this alliance. Let me start by making it very clear that as PeP, we strongly believe that an alliance is the most sure way of unseating the UPND party from office in the upcoming 2026 general elections. Let there be no question about that. Also, there is no question that President Hakainde Hichilema and his UPND party have completely failed the Zambian people and there will be a huge appetite to remove them from office in the 2026 general elections. So as opposition, we are actually walking a slope.

3. Nonetheless, my considered view is that it is not just any form of opposition alliance that will unseat the UPND party from office. It has to be a sellable alliance that will appeal to the people. Mind you that the Zambian voter of today is much more sophisticated and awake and is not as naive or gullible as the Zambian voter of yesteryears. That means if we are going to unseat the UPND in 2026, we need to present a united opposition package that will make sense to voters. Of course if we do not unite as opposition ahead of the 2026 polls, what is likely to happen is that the votes will be split in 2026 and that will benefit the ruling party. However, even in the unfortunate event of split votes in 2026, one of us will definitely emerge as a clear favorite to the people, and that is the party that will most likely unseat the UPND in 2031. The point that l am trying to make here is that an alliance that does not make sense to the people is more detrimental to the opposition than no alliance at all.

4. So then, what is our detailed position regarding UKA? Well, let me start by saying that l have utmost respect for each of the individuals that currently make up UKA. In fact, a good number of them are my personal friends. However, l personally see the UKA project as a comedy of errors. That is largely because of the presence of former President Lungu in the alliance, as well as the model that has been adopted to create UKA whereby it is made up of leaders of individual political parties. It is a well known fact that Hon. Miles Sampa has stolen the PF party, of course with help from the ruling UPND. It is also common knowledge that the court wrangles in PF are unlikely to be resolved before the 2026 general elections, again with the help of the ruling UPND party. Therefore, by President Lungu being in UKA in his capacity as PF President, he is effectively transmitting the wrangles which are in PF into UKA. Therefore, instead of UKA providing an alternative platform to the hijacked PF, it is instead facing the same dilemma as the hijacked PF.

5. Coming to President Lungu himself, my considered view is that any alliance involving the PF has to be devoid of Former President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, if it is going to be sellable to the people. I have no doubt in my mind that the majority of the Zambian people want President Hakainde Hichilema gone after 2021, but l also have no doubt in my mind that the majority of the Zambian people do not want Former President Lungu to go back to State House. Mr. Lungu had seven years to run the affairs of this nation, and he did what he could. Apart from diehard PF Supporters, l do not think the Former President can convince any reasonable Zambian that there is something that he omitted or forgot to achieve while in office, for which he needs to be elected back.

6. Of course it has become fashionable on the world scene for former leaders to seek re-election and to in fact be elected back into office. But our local circumstances here are quite different. For starters, the Former President currently does not have a political party. Hon. Miles Sampa is officially in charge, and l have no doubt in my mind that he is working day and night to ensure that he completely destroys the PF party, of course with the guidance, collaboration and support of the Government. I would not want to delve into how the Former President lost the party to Hon. Miles Sampa, that is a discussion for another day. Suffice to say that in African politics, opposition leaders are endangered species. The ruling party is constantly working to undermine and eliminate you. For you to survive, you need to constantly think and act one step ahead of the ruling party.

7. Although Mr. Hakainde Hichilema unfortunately turned out to be the worst President that Zambia has ever had, one thing that you cannot take away from him is the fact that he was a resilient and shrewd opposition leader. As an opposition leader in Africa, you are like an Impala in the jungle, and you need to act like one. Even when drinking water, an Impala will take one sip, then look right, look left, look behind, look up, then take another sip. If you are an Impala but you have the attitude and arrogance of a lion, then be rest assured that you cannot survive for long. Unfortunately, that is the tragedy that has befallen most PF leaders. They lost the power but they kept the arrogance.

8. The other aspect is that political support is something that heavily relies on sympathy. In fact there is no greater driver for political support than sympathy. But for people to sympathize with you, they need to see you as a victim. We have all been monitoring the updates from UKA leaders regarding their attempts to register the organization and how the Registrar of Societies and the Zambia Police have been sending them from pillar to post. Ideally, that is supposed to elicit strong condemnation from various stakeholders, except for the fact that barely 30 months ago, those were the exact schemes which one of the UKA members was exacting on others. So it becomes a problem for people to condemn when someone is given a taste of their own medicine.

9. The other prominent aspect of UKA in its current form, that is worth mentioning is the inherent hypocrisy. We have people who resigned from Former President Lungu’s Government on the basis that it was a corrupt Government, proceeded to form their own party and are today rallying behind Former President Lungu. The question is; what has changed? Also we have people who were fired from Former President Lungu’s Cabinet after referring to fire tenders as wheelbarrow’s, today telling us that they worked very well with their former boss, as they are unveiled as UKA Chief Executive Officer. Really? Then we have others who are complaining about the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act and yet the person who signed it into law is seated right next to them?

10. The bottom line is that as Patriots for Economic Progress, we have a very high appetite for collaboration with other opposition political parties. We strongly believe that in order to remove the UPND party from office in 2026, and deliver a better Zambia for the people, there is an inevitable need to create an alliance. But any such alliance must be one that creates synergy among the participating political parties. The total package must be one that is appealing and sellable to the people. There is no question that, as the immediate past ruling party, the PF is still very strong on the ground. Just like UNIP was still very strong on the ground in 1994 and MMD in 2014. The true value of the PF party to the political discourse of the nation will depend on how well it rebrands itself, if it rebrands itself at all. Anyway, the Future is SET ✌️✌️✌️

Neymar’s father distances himself and his son from Dani Alves’ court trial

Neymar Santos Sr, father to Brazilian-born footballer, Neymar Jr. has revealed that his family won’t be involved in the court case of the convicted former footballer, Daniel Alves.

Neymar da Silva Santos Sr. said in a statement on behalf of his family that they financially supported Alves during his trial, but that they won’t do it again since the former player was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in 2022.

“For us, for my family, this matter is over. Full stop,” Neymar da Silva Santos Sr. said.

The 40-year-old Alves was sentenced to four years, six months in prison. He is being held at a jail outside Barcelona.

Neymar’s father didn’t specify how much they gave Alves but added that it’s a “different situation” now because the three-judge panel at the Barcelona Provincial Court ruled against Alves.

“With the Spanish court ruling for his conviction, there’s speculation and an attempt to associate my name and my son’s to a matter that is not within our reach any longer,” Neymar’s father said in the family’s statement.

He added that he hopes Alves “can find all the answers he looks for in his own family.”

The prison term is near the lowest sentence for a rape conviction, which when the attack took place was penalized by four to 12 years under Spanish law. The court in its sentence said it considered favorably for Alves that he had “before the trial paid the court €150,000 to be given to the victim without any conditions attached.”

Neymar Jr. and Alves were teammates at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain and for Brazil. Neymar now plays for Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

Alves, who has denied wrongdoing in the case, has remained in custody since being arrested in January 2023.

Alves’ prior requests to be released on bail were denied because the court deemed him a flight risk.

Brazil does not extradite its own citizens when they are sentenced in other countries.

As a bail condition, Alves would be required to hand over his Brazilian and Spanish passports. He is prohibited from leaving Spain. He still has a residence near Barcelona.

Bianca Censori’s father demands she and Kanye West fly to Australia to address concerns over X-rated outfits

0

Kanye West has reportedly been summoned to spend time with his wife Bianca Censori’s father in Australia over her near-naked outfits and controversial relationship with the rapper.

Bianca Censori

This comes after it was recently reported that Bianca’s father Leo was keen to confront his son-in-law, who married the Aussie designer in December 2022 just one month after finalizing his divorce from ex-wife Kim Kardashian.

Now, Leo has reportedly requested that Kanye fly out to meet him in Australia after his wife voiced fears about his ‘intimidating’ demeanor when she visited earlier this month

‘Kanye has been invited to go to Australia and Bianca is hesitant to allow this to happen because she knows how her father will react,’ a source exclusively told DailyMail.

‘Her dad still plans to have a sit down with Kanye, and Leo will not be intimidated by Kanye’s power or control. No one is expecting this to be all rainbows and family portraits.’

The demand comes after Bianca’s mother Alexandra flew to the US with the intention of ‘saving’ her child, but seemingly failed to get through to the pair.

‘Bianca’s father was not necessarily pleased with his wife’s visit to see their daughter because he feels like she enabled Bianca to continue doing what she is doing,’ the insider continued.

‘Yes, Bianca dressed provocatively while her mother was there, but it was nothing in comparison to some of the outfits she has worn prior to and since the visit.’

Since her mother departed, Bianca has made headlines with her flesh-flashing fashion choices.

Earlier this week she exposed her bare butt cheeks in a metallic silver micro miniskirt and thong which she teamed with a triangle bikini top.

Another explicit outfit saw her dressed in see-through, neon green tights, which she paired with a skimpy beige tube top.

The outfit became even more X-rated when her husband proceeded to pull her tights down in order to reveal the top of her bottom.

Bianca’s father is said to have been disappointed by Alexandra’s inability to help her daughter see through Kanye’s influence, with the source adding: ‘Alexandra wanted to do this alone and her dad was under the impression that she was going to speak to her about how she is presenting herself.

‘She was so caught up in the attention and fame of it all that she became slightly intimidated by Kanye’s influence.’

Earlier this month Alexandra reportedly flew out ‘to see for herself’ whether her daughter is in of her control of her life.

‘Bianca’s mom had to see for herself after Bianca told her family she has this under control,’ a source told DailyMail.com. ‘This has been a wonderful opportunity for Alexandra to get to spend time with Bianca and assess the situation for herself.’

The insider continued: ‘Alexandra was lowkey believing she would come to save her daughter. But this is not the case. Kanye has started to turn things around since the release of Vultures in the sense that he is not going off on as many unhinged rants.

‘He also knows how to sweet talk a mom. This has been really a good experience, and everyone is so relieved to see her with Alexandra.’

Alexandra’s visit came days after sources told DailyMail that Bianca had insisted to loved ones that she is not being coerced by her husband like many have feared.

‘Bianca has talked to her family and she has told her friends the same thing since she was last back home, namely that she knows what she is doing and she has this under control,’ they said.

Michael Jackson’s mom has received over $55MILLION since his death – Late King of Pop’s estate reveals

The late King of Pop’s estate has filed legal documents in their dispute with Katherine, 93, over the cost of her attorney’s fees, which she wants the estate to cover, according to a representative who spoke with TMZ.

The estate claims that Katherine has gotten a large amount of cash and other benefits since Michael’s death in 2009, alleging it totals over $55 million in nearly 15 years.

A significant portion of the money comes from a monthly allowance that’s over $160k and amounts to $33 million of the $55 million, according to the estate.

It comes after Michael’s son, Blanket ‘Bigi’ Jackson, 22, filed legal papers seeking to block his grandmother from using estate funds amid an extended legal battle with the estate executors.

Michael Jackson

The latest filing claims that Katherine is well taken care of by the estate and that they have spent more than $15 million to buy and improve her luxury home, and have paid for her transportation, a private gardener, a chef, and security.

The estate executors believe that Katherine can afford to cover her own attorney’s fees in their legal dispute.

Her fight with Michael’s estate seemingly centres on a disagreement over a multi-million deal struck by the estate for the sale of a portion of Michael’s music rights.

Katherine reportedly objected to the deal and now she wants the estate to cover her legal fees.

On Wednesday it was reported that Michaels’ son Bigi, formerly known as Blanket, filed paperwork with the court earlier this week, as per TMZ.

It’s the latest chapter in a legal battle over the Beat It singer’s estate nearly 15 years after the June 25, 2009 death.

The latest court action comes in contrast to recent efforts on legal fronts, according to the outlet, as Blanket and Katherine had been in sync amid ongoing family efforts focused on issues circulating through the court system.

While the legal docs TMZ reviewed did not identify the specific issue on hand, recent headlines have indicated that the Man in the Mirror singer’s survivors oppose efforts made by his estate executors to sell a large portion of the late artist’s catalogue.

Blanket and his grandmother were on the same page in stating their resistance to a potential sale, according to legal documents reviewed by TMZ, but Blanket was not involved with Katherine’s subsequent appeal of the court’s eventual ruling to let the executors proceed in exploring further options for a sale.

Attorneys for Blanket told the court that he feels the appeal will not be a successful one and doesn’t want to depreciate the value of the estate with expensive legal bills, the outlet reported.

Blanket’s legal team requested the court ‘use its best judgment’ in ruling for Katherine to be reimbursed for ‘reasonable attorney’s fees’ she racked prior to appealing the court’s ruling.

Attorneys for Blanket said in docs submitted to the court last June that Blanket had hoped to keep his position on the matter under wraps, encouraging the court to maintain confidentiality on certain aspects of the legal conflict.

Blanket ‘is a very private person and may have said nothing if he knew that his words or positions could become public,’ his lawyers said. ‘That, in turn, would have denied the trial court of the ability to hear and consider all aspects of the proposed action.’

In legal docs obtained by Dailymail earlier this month, the two executors of the estate, John Branca and John McClain, filed paperwork in Los Angeles Superior Court asking it to stop Katherine in her pursuit of $561,548 from them over a legal dispute tied to the late Thriller singer’s catalogue.

Katherine filed court documents requesting the six-figure sum in a motion, as she said she spent the total on legal fees seeking to prevent Branca and McClain from selling her late son’s work.

Branca and McClain sought court approval in 2022 to sell Michael Jackson’s catalogue, leading his mother to file documents objecting to the potential sale.

Katherine told the court in a hearing on the topic that her late son – who famously feuded with Paul McCartney in the mid-1980s over his purchase of publishing rights of a chunk of Beatles material – made clear he never wanted his catalogue to be sold, as he felt it was his lifeline, Radar reported earlier this month.

Branca and McClain told the court that Katherine has an established track record of opposing business transactions that would be profitable for the estate; and said the timing was right to put Jackson’s work for sale, as it would command maximum value amid current market conditions.

Branca and McClain told the court that Jackson’s estate badly needed the cash infusion, as it ‘was teetering on the verge of collapse,’ Radar reported after reviewing legal docs.

The estate, according to the executors, had ‘more than $400 million in debt that encumbered Michael’s most significant assets and little or no liquidity or means to service that debt.

‘Through creative thinking, hard work and business savvy and, of course, Michael’s extraordinary creative legacy – the Executors transformed the MJJ Business into a profitable enterprise.’

The judge in the case eventually granted Branca and McClain permission to pursue a sale of the catalogue, which Katherine filed an appeal against, saying the executors were overreaching in their authority, Radar reported.

Branca and McClain filed papers in response objecting to Katherine’s appeal, citing their rights as executors. The court has yet to issue a judgment on the appeal.

Last month the estate announced a partial sale, as Sony purchased the rights to half of Jackson’s material for $600 million amid Katherine’s objections.

Michael’s eldest son Prince, 27, said through his legal team that he preferred to keep his position on the situation private.

Lawyers for Prince described him last June in court docs as ‘a private figure who never sought or invited attention as to this specific proposed transaction or, more broadly, the details of his position as far as this transaction is concerned.’

They added that ‘whether an individual beneficiary is supportive, opposed, or indifferent to this transaction is information that, if publicly disclosed, would likely have a negative impact on the ability to consummate this transaction or negotiate/renegotiate a different transaction in the future.’

HICHILEMA HAS SOLD MOPANI MINE TO HIMSELF… because Mr Hichilema doesn’t disclose what he owns- Fred M’membe

HICHILEMA: RESPOND TO THE ISSUES BEING RAISED ABOUT MOPANI COPPER MINES

There are stories flying around that Mr Hakainde Hichilema has sold to himself, Mopani Copper Mines.

These stories will not simply disappear because the public doesn’t know what Mr Hichilema owns or does not own, what Mr Hichilema has bought or not bought. Mr Hichilema doesn’t disclose what he owns. This is also complicated by the fact that Mr Hichilema doesn’t own everything he owns directly – he has often used proxies or all sorts of fronts.

It is being reported that around June 20, 2023, four firms were shortlisted as successful bidders for the acquisition of a stake in Mopani Copper Mines.

These reports, observations, and questions being raised deserve a response from Mr Hichilema, especially that he has sold a huge public stake in Mopani Copper Mines without parliamentary approval in blatant violation of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.

Selling Reserve Maize was ´reckless´ and unforgivable…HH must resign for the action-UKA says

Selling Reserve Maize was ´reckless´ and unforgivable
…HH must resign for the action-UKA says

22.03.24
President Hakainde Hichilema must resign and apologise to Zambians for pushing them into poverty by selling reserve maize stocks causing food shortages and looming hunger says Harry Kalaba of UKA in an interview with Kbntv.

Kalaba said President Hichilema must stop playing the victim by parading himself before international TV cameras and begging for help after ignoring advise from experts “not to sell reserve maize abroad.”

“Stop mourning you (HH) mismanaged the food issue,” Mr Kalaba said, “you sold the maize you must stop lying. Its not the drought that is putting six million Zambians at risk of starvation and poverty it is you President Hichilema who is pushing Zambians into poverty. If you didn’t sell the reserve maize the story would be different.”

Kalaba said sadly, “we must buy back expensively the same maize we sold cheaply just because one man ignored advise. President Hichilema has failed he must resign as our chairman Sakwiba Sikota SC has earlier said.”

“The problem is we have a President with an attitude of ´I know it all´ and we have no tools to cure his attitude problem it’s a serious problem,” said Kalaba.

UKA ON JEAN CHISENGA MP FOR MAMBILIMA AND HH LIES
Mr Kalaba has come to the aid of Mambilima legislator Ms. Jean Chisenga who faces possible censure by the Nellie Mutti parliament for calling President Hichilema a ´liar´ in parliament.

“Hon. Chisenga has privileges and her calling President Hichilema a liar,” Mr Kalaba said, “she´s simply echoing what many Zambians feel about President Hichilema because has told so many lies to Zambians…he is a liar.”
Mr Kalaba instead asked women lobby groups to protect Ms. Chisenga whom he believes is being targeted for censure ´just because she is a woman.´

ON THE SALE OF MOPANI COPPER MINE TO INTERNATIONAL RESEOURCE HOLDINGS OF UAE

Mr Kalaba warned that President Hichilema and any government officials that have participated in the offloading or sale of 51 percent shares in Zambia´s mining company Mopani Copper Mines will face legal action in future for breaking the law.

“The law says when you are selling a state asset beyond a certain price two thirds of parliament must approve the sale and, in this case, not only wasn’t parliament involved but the company that bought the company didn’t even participate in the deal,” said Mr Kalaba.
Mr Kalaba said, although President´s don’t sign sale deals, anyone who has signed the deal to sell 51 percent shares in Mopani against the laws of Zambia will pay the heavy price once Mr Hichilema is no longer President.

“In a good month Mopani can generate $300 million from its operations,” Mr Kalaba said, “how then do we celebrate a cash injection of $40 million from a company that was handpicked and NEVER participated in the bidding process?”
IS THE MOPANI DEAL GOOD OR BAD FOR ZAMBIA

Mr Kalaba described the deal being ´celebrated ‘by Mr Hichilema as, “ a bad deal right from the start it’s a very bad illegal deal because laws are not being followed.”
He said the deal is as bad as the Konkola Copper Mines deal that saw Vedanta take back the troubled mine without resuming production and pumping new investment resources.
“The law has been broken here (in Mopani sale) but in future what the President has done has ramifications whoever has signed this will be trouble you can’t skip parliament,” Mr Kalaba said.

ON POLICE CHIEF GRAPHAEL MUSAMBA

Mr Kalaba said it is UKA´s belief that police chief Graphael Musamba must be moved from the police inspectorate and placed at the UPND headquarters.
“Mr Musamba doesn’t deserve to wear a police uniform he must wear a UPND party chitenge because he is a partisan police chief,” said Kalaba.

DEC SEIZES OVER K1.1 MILLION WORTH OF BUSSES AND A HOUSE

DEC SEIZES OVER K1.1 MILLION WORTH OF BUSSES AND A HOUSE

…. suspected to be Procured from Illicit Activities; Rounds Up Several Illicit Trafficking and Cultivation Activities.

Lusaka, Friday 22nd March, 2024

The Drug Enforcement Commission has seized five commercial buses valued at over K1.1 million and a fully furnished house of unknown value in Lusaka suspected to have been obtained from proceeds of crime.

DEC Public Relations Officer Mwenge Mulenga says the seizure follows a series of intelligence investigations by the Anti Money Laundering Investigations Unit (AMLIU) that have connected the said properties to an arrest that was done by the Commission in July 2023 involving seven suspects who were found with hard drugs, including Cocaine, Heroin and Diazepam.

Mr Mulenga said the seized assets, including buses bearing registration numbers AID 734, BAH 1188, AQB 957, AIC 1975, and BAV 2165, were registered in the names of unidentified individuals who have since switched off phones and gone into hiding including the individual that used to receive the cashing from the drivers of the said buses.

“Furthermore, the Commission’s investigations revealed that the house in question, whose records do not exist with local authorities, was registered under a power utility company using the details of a known individual who has since denied ownership of the property. It is imperative to note that individuals associated with these assets, including those involved in receiving cash from the bus drivers, have gone into hiding, prompting the Commission to therefore extend notice to the members of the public who wish to claim the properties mentioned above that the forfeiture process to the state, of the, said tented properties has since been instituted,” he stated.

“The Commission shall proceed to surrender the assets to the state within six (6) months specified period where no proceedings or claim takes place.”

Meanwhile, the Commission in Livingstone District, in collaboration with the Chirundu officers, conducted an operation at the Victoria Falls border where they intercepted Two (02) trucks belonging to a named company which was carrying a total of 142 boxes of Benlyn with Codeine en route to Zambia from South Africa.

Mr Mulenga indicated that the suspects involved have been identified as Kenneth Nsofu, male, aged 47, of Kitwe township and Micheal Musonda, male, aged 45, of Lusaka, both truck drivers of a named company.

“In Lusaka Province, the Commission has apprehended a Somalian national identified as Abduiqadie Habib, male aged 31 of Emmasdale area, for trafficking in four (4) bundles of Khat Miraa. DEC has seized the drugs and the vehicle that was used to commit the illicit activity.
Furthermore, DEC in Western Province has arrested Liwanga Liwanga, male aged 45, of Nongungu village of Limulunga District, for illegal cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 152 kilograms and for possession of dry loose cannabis weighing 620 grams.
All suspects involved in the illegal drug activities have been charged and are awaiting court appearances,” he continued.

“The Commission remains steadfast in dismantling criminal networks and seizing assets derived from illegal activities. We urge the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activities or information that may assist our ongoing investigations. Our vigilance across the country has resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of illegal drugs. These actions highlight the Commission’s dedication to disrupting drug trafficking networks and protecting Zambian communities. Working together with the communities will help ensure a safer and healthier Zambia.”

ALEYA ‘GLORIA’ WHETHER ALEFWAYA NANGU TALEFWAYA- FRED M’MEMBE

ALEYA ‘GLORIA’ WHETHER ALEFWAYA NANGU TALEFWAYA, SAYS FRED M’MEMBE

….as he castigates the ruling UPND over their lies

Lusaka… Friday, March 22, 2024

Leader of the opposition Socialist Party (SP) Zambia Dr Fred M’membe has assured Zambians that whether the ruling UPND likes it or not, they will be voted out come 2026.

Dr M’membe observed that there are so many evil people who prey on people’s ignorance, as well as the inability to read and write.

He said during the graduation ceremony of over 350 learners under the Fred M’membe Literacy and Agroecology Campaign which was held at Chris Mall Lodges in Lusaka, Thursday, that he was thrilled seeing the eradication of illiteracy in the country.

“For the first time I have been to a room in this country, to a hall in this country where everyone can read and write. This is a liberated zone today. Liberated from illiteracy and ignorance. The joy comes from having over 300 predominantly being women from the bondage of illiteracy. It is not a small thing. Imagine for a second, that you are not able to read and write. Imagine how your world will be today,” he said.

“How would you proceed with this life? I can even say you are not able to speak English, because English dominates today. All your prescriptions for medicines are in English… What you don’t want for yourself you will never want for another person.”

The opposition leader said he believed that the highest level of political thought was reached when some people came to a realization that the knowledge of each individual, of each group of people should reach all others.

“The experience you have, the things you have learnt, should reach other people. No human being should be a wolf to other human beings. This is the essence of socialism.,” he said.

“There are so many evil people who prey on your ignorance, who prey on your inability to read and write. They can lie to people who can read and write, what more to people who can’t read and write? When you cannot vote for yourself they have to vote for you. This work must continue. you cannot talk about liberation without wiping out illiteracy. We still have a huge population which cannot read and write.”

He said 10 years of the SP in power, illiteracy, hunger, being cheated to, being lied to must disappear.

“Comrades, we have a lot of work to do and no time to lose. We have people in government today who have lost the legitimacy to govern but still want to govern. When people fail the resort to repression. Only them want to assemble. And when they assemble its lies and repression of their political opponent,” he said.

“Where there is repression there is always resistance. When you resort to repression, expert heavy resistance. Gloria, alefwawya or talefwaya aleya.”

Lessons taught in the Fred M’membe Literacy and Agroecology Programme include agroecology-cooperativism, family and housing without domestic violence, food and nutrition, diseases transmitted by vectors and solid waste.

Other topics include citizenship, government and national symbols, culture, family and work values including the comprehension of education as a human right.

ARRESTING THE YOUNG BOY THAT SHOUTED “THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES!”

22 March 2024

A story is told of a conman that came into a town and sold the emperor a ‘cloth’ that one could only see if he was truthful. Everyone, including the emperor, wanting to be seen as ‘truthful’, pretended that they could see the material. The conman made the emperor some clothes from the piece of cloth.

On the set date, everyone was invited to see the emperor’s new clothes. The emperor put on the clothes and went to parade himself to his people. In a bid to appear to be truthful, all the people pretended to love the emperor’s new clothes. One little boy who had come with his father, not seeing any clothes, shouted “The emperor has no clothes!!!!” It was at that point that everyone, including the emperor, stopped pretending and realised that they had been conned.

Pretty much like in our country Zambia. It had to take Zambia’s youngest lawmaker Honourable JN Chisenga, to shout “Ubufiii!!!! Mwalikwata ubufi” for us to admit to ourselves that as country, we have a person that is very economical with the truth for a President.

We have noted that a complaint has been raised by a Mr Emmanuel Banda MP, against the young lawmaker. We also took note of the fact that the Minister of Local Government had also indicated in an interview, that Hon Chisenga, would not go unpunished.

How do you punish someone that is merely telling the truth? Why has our President earned himself the names of ‘Liar’, ‘Bashi Promise’ and ‘John Tushimi’? These are observations made of him by the citizenry!!! Sad as this may be, this is the reality of what our people have observed and now believe of our President.

Please leave umwaiche Jean N’gabwe Chisenga, Mambilima Constituency MP, alone – she is merely expressing the views of her Constituents and others in the country.

High Court Allows Miles Sampa To Proceed With Contempt Case Against Emmanuel Mwamba

HIGH COURT ALLOWS MILES SAMPA TO PROCEED WITH CONTEMPT CASE AGAINST EMMANUEL MWAMBA

THE Lusaka High Court has granted Patriotic Front (PF) president Miles Sampa’s application for him to start contempt of court proceedings against PF faction information and publicity chairperson Emmanuel Mwamba after the former diplomat hosted a podcast where guests allegedly commented over an active court case.

Commenting over an active court case is deemed contempt of court and can attract imprisonment.

“It is hereby ordered and that leave be and is hereby granted to the first respondent [Mr Sampa] to commence contempt of court and committal proceedings against the alleged contemnor Emmanuel Mwamba,” the court ordered reads in part.

Mr Sampa wants Mr Mwamba to be jailed for contempt of court after he recently hosted Victor Kapungwe and Chama Amerika on his podcast and the duo allegedly commented on Mr Sampa’s election as PF party president.

This prompted the PF Matero MP to start contempt of court proceedings against Mr Mwamba for hosting guests who commented on the legality of his election as PF president while knowing well the matter to do with his ascendency to the presidency was still in court.

Mr Sampa contends that Mr Mwamba, in a one minute 57 seconds video, directed political commentators, Mr Kapungwe and Chama Amerika to comment on his election as party president.

He submits that the podcast in question was titled: Miles Sampa’s illegal conference.

“That the declaration of my election as party president was illegal, null and void during the podcast hosted by the second petitioner (Em- manuel Mwamba) has potential to bring the court in disrepute,” Mr Sampa adds.

He submits that Mr Mwamba should have respected the due process of the law and allowed for the matter to be adjudicated upon fairly without presenting a narrative to the public that might cause conflict and embarrassment to the court.

He further adds that the alleged contemnor (Mwamba) had no excuse for his unlawful conduct and should therefore be cited for contempt of court and committed to prison.

Mr Sampa then applied that the High Court should allow him to start contempt of court proceedings which the court has since granted.
