Ever Heard of the Prophecy of the Popes?
A reflection 🪞 by Rev Walter Mwambazi

Let me warn, this post is for those like me who are eschatology students and study the end time trends. If not, just skip! ☺️

And when I posted this three years ago, it raised a small storm on my page. I post it again because I am a student of eschatology and do watch current affairs with a “prophetic” eye. As it stands, Pope Francis is literally on his “death bed” and so the question comes, does it mean another Pope will come and no “son of perdition” will be revealed, or is he about to appear, thus confirming this prophecy?

Let’s delve now, shall we?

Now, ever heard of that prophecy?

Well, this began when Pope Benedict XVI resigned some years back. It was such a momentous deed that only those who understand that institution and it’s workings would realize just how significant the event was.

At that time, the obvious question was, “Who will be the next Pope?” Of course we now know it’s Pope Francis. But what is so significant about this?

Let me show you…

What most people don’t know is that many Catholic scholars and followers believe that the successor will be “the last Pope”.

For more than 800 years scholars have pointed to the dark augury having to do with “the last Pope”.

The prophecy, taken from St. Malachy’s ”Prophecy of the Popes” (who by the way was a devout Roman Catholic!), is among a list of verses predicting each of the Roman Catholic popes from Pope Celestine II to the final pope, ”Peter the Roman”, whose reign would end in the destruction of Rome.

First published in 1595, the prophecies were attributed to St. Malachy by a Benedictine historian named Arnold de Wyon, who recorded them in his book, Lignum VitĂŠ. Tradition holds that Malachy had been called to Rome by Pope Innocent II, and while there, he experienced the vision of the future popes, including the last one, which he wrote down in a series of cryptic phrases.

According to the prophecy, the next pope (following Benedict XVI) is to be the final pontiff, Petrus Romanus or Peter the Roman.

Mmmm 🤔

The idea by some Catholics that the next pope on St. Malachy’s list heralds the beginning of “great apostasy” followed by ”great tribulation” sets the stage for the imminent unfolding of apocalyptic events, something many non-Catholics would agree with.

This would give rise to a false prophet, who according to the book of Revelation leads the world’s religious communities into embracing a political leader known as Antichrist.

In recent history, several Catholic priests—some deceased now—have been surprisingly outspoken on what they have seen as this inevitable danger rising from within the ranks of Catholicism as a result of secret satanic “Illuminati-Masonic” influences.

These priests claim secret knowledge of a multinational power elite and occult hierarchy operating behind supranatural and global political machinations. Among this secret society are sinister false Catholic infiltrators (Army of Darkness) who understand that, as the Roman Catholic Church represents one-sixth of the world’s population and over half of all Christians, it is indispensable for controlling future global elements in matters of church and state and the fulfillment of a diabolical plan they call “Alta Vendita”, which is set to assume control of the papacy and to help the False Prophet deceive the world’s faithful (including Catholics) into worshipping Antichrist.

Catholic and evangelical scholars have dreaded this moment for centuries. Unfortunately, time for avoiding Peter the Roman just ran out – that is IF this prophecy holds water.

Only time will tell.

Whatever the case, ladies and gentlemen, we are living in very interesting times indeed. Oh, and for those of you who have never known this, Pope Francis makes the first ever Jesuit Priest to ascend St. Peter’s Seat in Rome.

That in itself is monumental.

The Jesuits (or society of Jesus) are a very unique order of priests in the Catholic Church who’s work includes “going into the world” and working as professionals in various fields for the advancement of their work.

Founded by Ignatius Loyola in the 1500s, it has grown to wield great influence in many walks of society. Unfortunately, they have also been the subject of much suspicion in many conspiracy theories hence always casting a dark shadow over their often noble work.

Whatever the case, it makes for very interesting speculation when it comes to one of them ascending to the Papacy.

Now there is something to ponder on! ☺️

PS: As we all know, Pope Benedict XVI has since passed on. Are you aware that the past pontiff was very clear about who can and cannot attend his funeral ceremony? Do your own research and find out who was on the “banned” list.

That will be an interesting find for you.

The bigger question you need to find an answer to is “why”? I leave that to you.

PPS: As mentioned earlier, Pope Francis is gravely ill, this then raises the question, will this Prophecy fall apart?

As some of you may be aware, the anticipated 5 Heifers ceremony is about to take place in Jerusalem marking the start of the works to rebuild Solomon’s third/fourth temple!

Those who are students of what is going on in the middle east and specifically Jerusalem know the implications of such a project. It would have to be built on top of the dome of rock or Al Aksa mosque! Why? Because that was where the the threshing floor of Jezreel was, and that’s where David purchased the field to build the first temple!

No other ground can be used. Yet, it hosts Islam’s third most holy site after Mecca and Medina.

We can only wait and see.

THE  ZAMBIAN PEOPLE WILL ALSO WALK AWAY FROM YOU IN 2026- KAFWAYA TELLS UPND

THE  ZAMBIAN PEOPLE WILL ALSO WALK AWAY FROM YOU IN 2026- KAFWAYA TELLS UPND.

LUSAKA……Friday, 21, 2025 [Smart Eagles]

Lunte Member of Parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya has slammed the UPND MPs for running away from debating a motion on the High Cost of Living.

Speaking at a media briefing today, Hon Kafwaya  said it was careless for the UPND goverment to ignore calls to reduce the high cost of living.

He said the High Cost of Living affects both UPND and the opposition hence the need to tackle it effectively.

Hon Kafwaya said it is sad that even after different stakeholders  are disappointed by the walk-out, UPND have insisted that they do not regret the walk-out.

He said the people are feeling the pinch now but the tide will change in 2026 when they go to ask for votes.

He said the same way the UPND walked away from discussing a pertinent issue affecting the majority, is the same way the Zambian people will walk away on the UPND in 2026.

“I want to tell the members of the UPND that you did not walk away on me, you walked away on the zambjan people. The same way you walked away in Parliament, that is how the Zambian people will walk away from you,” he said.

Hon Kafwaya has further explained what he wanted to highlight about the High Cost of Living.

“I am concerned because the subject under discussion was for the Cost of living and the suffering of the Zambian people. The Minister stated that they walked away from lies, there ought to be decency, the Hon Minister is the one who disrespected the then Vice President Inonge Mutukwa Wina……….  The issues of ambulances, 48 houses but the story of ambulances has not stopped now. Then it was about the cost, now it is about procurement. Why are those UPND MPs quiet on the subject matter,” said the Lunte Lawmaker.

He said he is grossly unhappy with the Corruption and Middlemen introduced almost everywhere.

Hon Kafwaya has also reacted to Vice President Mutale Nalumango’s response to the Cost of Living that Government cannot reduce the prices.

“It was my strong intention to speak about your tax policy, non-tax policy and expenditure prioritisation. I Intended to come with specific recommendations on your current tax policy so that you modify the tax policy now so that people can quickly begin to benefit from your interventions.

I was also going to tackle the MPR, Export policy with regards to mealie meal and Electricity, ……….  We could have expanded these issues for our people to benefit from but what we had was the executive Government walking away and causing the quorum to collapse,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hon Kafwaya has urged the UPND Government to moderate their appetite for Tribalism and regionalism.

He has challenged the Government to publish the names of the over 400 Civil Servants who have been removed from their positions, and the people they have been replaced with.

“The UPND government should moderate on the appetite for tribalism and regionalism. Zambian people do not want tribalism. If you won’t heed to the advice of the Bishops on tribalism, then we are in trouble.  I want to challenge the Vice President to release a list of all the people who have been parked at cabinet office so that the issue of tribalism can be seen whether people’s claims are true or not,” Hon Kafwaya said.

LEAVE FAZ ALONE- Dr Canisius BANDA

LEAVE FAZ ALONE
__________

Football in Zambia is a powerful force. It is second only to Christianity in influence.

It is an existential balm, a balm so strong which not only unites citizens but it also sedates them.

In the right hands, football is a potent governance tool, an effective wand for managing people.

Millions of poor Zambians, who daily are mocked by the high cost of living, starving and suffering to the core, find comfort and solace in football.

It follows that football in Zambia is akin to religion, it keeps people calm, together/united and under control.

Zambians love a leader, such as a Republican  President, who associates himself with sport in general and football in particular.

Explains why our national football team was at one time called the KK XI.

The world football federation, FIFA, is the second most powerful organisation in the world after the Catholic Church.

FIFA is more powerful than any of its individual member countries. It runs itself and abhors interference from anywhere.

This explains why against all odds, ignoring extremely powerful influence and lobbying from the West, with even the British prime minister David Cameron in attendance, FIFA took the World Cup to Qatar.

The West was incensed and went mad but Qatar eventually successfully hosted the World Cup.

Andrew KAMANGA is a football administrator par excellence. He has no equal.

For a living, Andrew KAMANGA  does not get kickbacks from players, a corrupt practice of some of its administrators of old, a vile practice which is part of the history of FAZ and which FAZ itself is well aware of and outlaws.

Andrew KAMANGA passes the FIFA Integrity Test.

Andrew KAMANGA was a wealthy man way before he became the lead man at Zambia’s football house. Ask Northwest Energy., a private and prosperous power company.

However, Andrew KAMANGA’s early years at FAZ were fraught with difficulties.

Three times in a row the Zambia National Football Team failed to qualify to the Africa Cup of Nations.
This failure was raucously celebrated by Andrew KAMANGA’s detractors who themselves might have invested in it and contributed to its happening.

But then the beginning of anything new has its teething problems and this was Andrew KAMANGA’s case.

Unfazed and undeterred, Andrew KAMANGA remained focused on his long term football development plan. As they say, he kept his eyes on the ball.

And Andrew KAMANGA’s long term football development plan is now bearing fruit. The fruits are evident. The fruits of his focus, planning and prowess in football administration are there for all to see.

Andrew KAMANGA’’s administrative success has shamed his critics, it has now put egg on the faces of his detractors.

A feat that no soccer administrator has ever achieved in the entire history of not only football in Zambia but Zambia itself, nearly all levels of national football teams in Zambia, both men and women, have now qualified for the respective Africa Cups of Nations at the same time.

To add other snippets, under Andrew KAMANGA’s reign, Zambia today has produced one of the best and most successful football coaches in Mr Bruce MWAPE. Say what you like.

And it is Andrew KAMANGA who qualified a Zambia national football team to both the Olympics [twice] and the World Cup.

Under his reign, football has grown in Zambia.

It is only under him that Zambia has today produced this many female football professionals who presently add value to Zambia’s economy through remittances.

No administrator in the history of Zambia’s football has scored such a wide array of remarkable football milestones than Andrew KAMANGA. Not Tom MTINE , David PHIRI, Teddy MULONGA  or Kalusha BWALYA, all of them legends in their own right.

And with the right coach, though not likely, he just might win us the next AFCON.

As if possessed with demons, some self-centred and corrupt people continue to scheme to bring this noble son of Zambia down.

This must stop.

Despite being a leading football nation not only on the continent of Africa but in the world as well, Zambia is now risking a FIFA ban.

Now Zambia might be banned from taking part in any/all FIFA sanctioned football events because of political interference.

When I was by his side, as we discussed power and strategic positioning, I told Hakainde HICHILEMA that FIFA was the second most powerful organisation in the world. Agreeing with me, he emphasized that the Catholic Church was number one. Ask him.

Now if it is true that Zambia’s attorney general has ordered FAZ to hold elections on a given date, then this reflects gross naivety on the part of the attorney general himself and the UPND.

Only FIFA gives directives to its affiliates, football associations and federations.

No attorney general in the whole wide world has such authority.

As a matter of fact, if it is true, Advocate Mulilo KABESHA should be told that no country president in the world has authority or power to order FIFA around.

The UPND has weaponized many public institution for its self-interest and not that of the nation. In the process, things have fallen apart.

The police is gone.
The judiciary is gone.
Parliament is gone.
Soon Zambia might go

Perhaps I am being melodramatic. Nonetheless, I see that you get the point.

Before the whole country is destroyed, please leave our football alone.

Leave FAZ alone.
Leave Andrew KAMANGA alone.
Stop persecuting Andrew KAMANGA.

Presently, persecuting Andrew KAMANGA, a man in good standing with FIFA, is viewed by FIFA, as persecuting FAZ.

Stop it NOW!,
Or FIFA will ban us and when that happens, the UPND will further lose its already lost political power.

By interfering in the administration of football in Zambia, the UPND is scoring a match-deciding own goal. Keep the cheap politics out please!

Forewarned is forearmed..

You may rig Zambia and its elections but please leave our beautiful game alone.

I support Power 90.
And to emphasise the point, I even generate my own electricity only because I don’t want to miss a single game of football.

Next, West Ham here we come! I hope that Mikel MERINO will save us again. It’s Arsenal I am talking about now.

MPs Should Not Claim Credit for CDF Projects, Says Ndola Mayor

MPs Should Not Claim Credit for CDF Projects, Says Ndola Mayor

Ndola
 Saturday February 22, 2025

Ndola Mayor Jones Kalyati has criticized Members of Parliament (MPs) who take credit for Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects, stating that their role is limited to being part of the committee that receives and proposes development initiatives.

In a statement, Kalyati emphasized that MPs should not present CDF-funded projects as their personal achievements, as the actual implementation and supervision of these projects fall under local councils.

He explained that the process begins with Ward Development Committees (WDCs) and Area Councillors, who submit development proposals to the council.

From there, the council oversees the entire project lifecycle, including contractor selection, budgeting, supervision, and final commissioning.

“It is the council that receives proposals, advertises for contractors, appoints engineers, supervises the works, and approves completion,” Kalyati stated.

He added that upon completion, projects are handed over to relevant government ministries, such as the Ministry of Health for hospitals and the Ministry of Education for schools.

The mayor expressed concern over MPs imposing themselves as “Guests of Honour” during project handovers, questioning how an MP, who represents the constituency, could be considered a guest.

He specifically mentioned Ndola’s MPs—Hon. Frank Tayali (Ndola Central), Hon. Mwambazi Warren Chisha (Bwana Mkubwa), Hon. Lloyd Lubosha (Chifubu), and Hon. Kanengo Bernard (Kabushi)—stating that none of them should claim credit for CDF projects.

According to Kalyati, recognition for CDF projects should go to President Hakainde Hichilema for increasing the fund, the Ministry of Finance for releasing funds promptly, the Ministry of Local Government for overseeing council works, and local authorities for ensuring prudent use of resources.

The mayor further reminded MPs that their primary responsibilities are to make laws, provide budget oversight, and lobby for development, rather than taking credit for projects managed by local councils.

He urged the public not to allow MPs to mislead them, noting that CDF has existed since 1995 under the MMD government and has steadily increased over time.

“My 2025 campaign is to remove MPs from CDF and bring them to serve as councillors,” declared Mayor Kalyati.

PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA: A BEACON OF NATIONAL PEACE & UNITY – LEVY NGOMA

PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA: A BEACON OF NATIONAL PEACE & UNITY – LEVY NGOMA

President Hakainde Hichilema’s Special Assistant for Political Affairs, Levy Ngoma, has commended the President for his continued efforts in uniting the country through traditional leadership.

Speaking at Laweni when government officials paid a courtesy call on Paramount Chief Mpezeni this afternoon, Mr. Ngoma stated that since assuming power in 2021, President Hichilema has demonstrated his commitment to national unity through love, peace, and oneness.

He emphasized that the President firmly believes development can only be achieved when people embrace love, peace, and unity as the foundation of progress.

“We should not look at our brothers through a political or tribal lens but view each other as one family of Zambian people.”

Mr. Ngoma highlighted that the values of the Nc’wala Traditional Ceremony reflect the spirit of unity in diversity and contribute to national development through hard work.

According to Mr. Ngoma, President Hichilema remains pleased with the growing significance of traditional ceremonies in preserving Zambia’s rich cultural heritage.

He further stressed that traditional ceremonies play a crucial role in passing down customs, values, and histories from one generation to another.

“President Hichilema has continued to foster unity and social cohesion by bringing together people from different communities to celebrate shared traditions.”

Meanwhile, Patriotic Front (PF) President Robert Chabinga echoed Mr. Ngoma’s sentiments, stating that traditional ceremonies serve as a platform for dialogue between traditional leaders and government officials.

Mr. Chabinga, who is also the Leader of the Opposition, commended Paramount Chief Mpezeni for successfully hosting the 2025 Nc’wala Traditional Ceremony.

He noted that Nc’wala remains one of Zambia’s most significant traditional ceremonies, as it gathers people from diverse backgrounds in the spirit of unity.

“We need to be united through traditional ceremonies as emphasized by President Hichilema.”

Mr. Chabinga urged opposition political parties to refrain from politicizing traditional ceremonies and instead recognize their role in promoting peace and national harmony.

Four-Year-Old Accident Survivor Reunites with Family After Heartbreaking Tragedy

Four-Year-Old Accident Survivor Reunites with Family After Heartbreaking Tragedy

In a story of resilience and hope, four-year-old Given Nyoka has finally been reunited with his family after surviving a devastating road traffic accident that claimed the life of his grandfather.

On February 14, 2025, Given and his grandfather, Mr. Piyela Nyoka, embarked on what was meant to be a journey of new beginnings. The two were traveling from Lundazi to Lusaka, where Given was set to be enrolled in nursery school—a milestone his family had eagerly awaited. However, fate took a tragic turn when their vehicle was involved in a horrific accident along the way.

The crash claimed the life of Mr. Nyoka, leaving Given alone, scared, and in desperate need of medical attention. In the chaos that followed, the little boy was rushed to Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital (UTH), where a team of dedicated doctors and nurses fought to save him.

For days, Given lay in the hospital, surrounded by unfamiliar faces but receiving unwavering care from medical professionals who refused to let him suffer alone. With no immediate family to claim him, the hospital staff and concerned citizens worked tirelessly to trace his relatives, spreading word across communities and social media in a heartfelt plea for information.

Then, a breakthrough. Given’s father, Mr. Never Nyoka, from Chimwendo Village in Lundazi District, was finally located and rushed to Lusaka to embrace his son. The emotional reunion brought tears to the eyes of hospital staff, who had grown attached to the brave little boy during his recovery.

“He is so strong, and despite everything he has been through, he still manages to smile,” one nurse said. “Seeing him with his father again is truly heartwarming.”

Though his physical wounds are healing, the emotional scars of the tragedy will take time to fade. Given is now recovering at home under the loving care of his family and will continue to receive medical check-ups as he regains his strength.

Levy Mwanawasa UTH has expressed deep gratitude to everyone who helped locate Given’s family and ensured that no child is left alone in times of crisis.

As the Nyoka family mourns the loss of a beloved father and grandfather, they also find comfort in the miracle of Given’s survival—a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is always hope.

Nigeria ex-military leader Gen Ibrahim Babangida for first time admits regret over cancelled poll

Nigeria’s ex-military ruler Gen Ibrahim Babangida has expressed deep regret for the first time for annulling the results of the 1993 presidential election.

The poll was supposed to bring about an end to military rule after 10 years and the cancellation of the outcome threw the country into turmoil. The date of the vote – 12 June – is now remembered in Nigeria as Democracy Day.

Gen Babangida was forced to resign. Moshood Abiola, widely believed to have won the election, was later imprisoned and his wife assassinated.

Nigeria’s current President, Bola Tinubu, said Gen Babangida had shown courage by admitting what took place.

The former military leader, 83, expressed his regret at the launch of his autobiography A Journey in Service in the capital, Abuja, on Thursday.

“Undoubtedly credible, free and fair elections were held on 12 June 1993,” he told the audience made up of the cream of Nigerian society, including Tinubu, two former presidents – Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan – and two other ex-military leaders, Abdulsalam Abubakar and Yakubu Gowon.

“However, the tragic irony of history remains that the administration that devised a near-perfect electoral system and conducted those near-perfect elections could not complete the process.

“That accident of history is most regrettable. The nation is entitled to expect my expression of regret.”

Gen Babangida, popularly known as IBB, also acknowledged that Abiola, who died in 1998, won the election.

However, in 1993 as results were being collated, the military government abruptly stopped the process – an action that triggered widespread protests and a political crisis.

For three decades, the circumstances surrounding the 1993 election have been shrouded in controversy, with conflicting accounts emerging overtime.

This new admission, seen as reopening old wounds, has triggered fresh debates rather than closure.

Many people will be expecting the former military ruler to also provide answers to some questions relating to his policies at the time.

Gen Babangida, who overthrew another military leader Muhammadu Buhari in 1985, led the county for eight years.

Multiparty democracy did eventually return to Nigeria in 1999 with the election of Obasanjo – who had also been a former military leader – as president.

Veteran Ugandan politician Kizza Besigye charged with treason

0

Veteran Ugandan opposition politician Kizza Besigye has been charged with treason in a civilian court after his controversial case was transferred from a military tribunal.

Treason is a capital offence in Uganda and if found guilty the 68-year-old cold be sentenced to death.

He was charged alongside two other suspects, but they did not enter a plea on the grounds that the charges against them could only be heard in a higher court.

Besigye, who has run for president against long-serving leader Yoweri Museveni four times, has been in detention since he was dramatically abducted in Kenya in November and taken back to Uganda to face a military trial.

But a landmark ruling by the Supreme Court last month said that trying civilians in military courts was unconstitutional and ordering all such cases to be transferred.

The move angered President Museveni, who called it “a wrong decision”.

At the start of last week, Besigye had begun a hunger strike over his continued detention.

The charges stem from accusations that he was plotting to remove Museveni from power by force.

Friday was the first first time Besigye had appeared before a civilian court for formal charges, after the Supreme Court ruling.

Visibly frail, he was wheeled before the Nakawa magistrate court in the capital, Kampala, alongside his aide and co-accused Obeid Lutale.

The opposition politician has now called-off his hunger strike, his lawyer Erias Lukwago told journalists.

According to the charge sheet presented before court, Besigye is accused of holding meetings in Switzerland, Greece and Kenya between 2023 and November last year in a plot to overturn the government.

He was also accused of soliciting for military, financial and other logistical support to topple Museveni’s government.

Besigye was charged alongside Mr Lutale and Denis Oola, a military officer.

Previous charges heard in the military court of illegal possession of ammunition and treachery were not included in the new charge sheet.

During proceedings, Besigye’s lawyer asked the court to order that he be transferred to a better health facility outside the prison but Magistrate Esther Nyadoi dismissed the application, saying she was unable to grant such a request.

She ordered the accused to be remanded until next month to allow the prosecutor to finish the investigation.

Besigye used to be a personal doctor for Museveni, who has been in power since 1986.

The veteran opposition figure has previously accused the Ugandan authorities of political persecution.

He has been less active in politics in recent years, and did not contest the 2021 election.

Zanu-PF admits employing internet trolls to attack opponents

Zanu-PF has confirmed that it employs a group of internet trolls under the Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit to attack its opponents and amplify its messages, according to a document obtained by ZimLive.

The unit, which is reportedly led by the party’s legal secretary, Patrick Chinamasa, has been the subject of controversy after six members were dismissed for allegedly attacking senior party officials. The dismissals were announced in a letter dated February 11, 2025, addressed to the party’s national political commissar, Munyaradzi Machacha.

Chinamasa detailed the disciplinary action in the letter, stating that following a meeting with President Emmerson Mnangagwa on February 3, the decision was made to permanently remove the six individuals from the unit. The individuals dismissed include Jonasi Mandiwisa Musara, Tafadzwa Mawire, Tinotenda Gachange, Felix Muzondo, Pardon Mangwende, and Herbert Mathe.

Chinamasa explained that the members had violated party guidelines by attacking the leadership of the Varakashi4ED unit and senior officials within the party. As part of the disciplinary process, Chinamasa also announced that the unit would now be the sole Zanu-PF-recognized social media affiliate and urged the expedited implementation of a social media management policy across the party’s various departments.

Chinamasa appointed Norman Mbimbi as the new administrator for the Varakashi4ED unit, with Dereck Goto taking on the role of director of operations. He also emphasized that he would continue to oversee the unit in his capacity as executive director.

This marks the first time Zanu-PF has officially acknowledged the existence of the Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit, although it has long been rumored that the party employs online trolls to counter its rivals and promote its political agenda.

The Varakashi4ED unit was reportedly established following Mnangagwa’s directive ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections. One of the dismissed members, Jonasi Mandiwisa Musara, who goes by the name Jones Musara on social media, responded to his removal by announcing his return to law school, indicating that he would be reducing his time on social media.

The revelation raises questions about the extent of social media manipulation by political parties in Zimbabwe, particularly as the country approaches future elections.

Zambia has a president surrounded by shadows. If he does not wake up and clean house, the people will do it for him in 2026- Dr Mwelwa

When a Leader Surrounds Himself with Shadows

By Dr Mwelwa

A king is known by his court. A leader is judged by those he appoints. And yet, in Zambia today, we are witnessing a presidency surrounded not by the sharpest minds, but by placeholders, political loyalists, and professional cheerleaders who add no value to the governance of the country.

Laura Miti puts it bluntly—Zambia has seen a steady decline in the quality of leadership appointments since the MMD era. Back then, whether one agreed with their policies or not, Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, and presidential advisors were selected based on competence. Today, as Emmanuel Mwamba also notes, President Hichilema has built a system where silence and incompetence reign supreme, where ministers hide instead of defend, where MPs flee instead of debate, and where the Chief Government Spokesperson has no information worth speaking about.

A government that cannot answer the cries of its people is a government that has already lost its way. The high cost of living is the fire burning in every household, and yet those in power act as though discussing it is beneath them. Zambians ask why mealie meal is now beyond reach, but instead of answers, they get State House bloggers posting propaganda. Zambians ask why the Kwacha is collapsing, why fuel prices are unbearable, and why basic commodities have become luxuries—but instead of a national address, they get a government that walks out of Parliament. If leadership is about problem-solving, then what exactly is UPND solving?

A leader without a strong support system is like a lion leading a herd of goats. Ministers are supposed to be warriors, strategists, and defenders of government policy. But instead, Hichilema’s team is missing in action. Where are his sectoral ministers? Why are they not taking the lead in explaining the government’s policies? Why is Zambia being governed by faceless propaganda pages and self-proclaimed consultants instead of competent officials who can articulate policy and provide solutions?

Laura Miti is right to ask: how does a man with a corporate background get it so wrong when it comes to hiring and firing? How can a leader be so comfortable with incompetence? If loyalty is the only qualification for office, then failure is the only outcome for governance. A government that fears competence is a government that is afraid of accountability.

Emmanuel Mwamba mocks the UPND’s inability to outmaneuver a so-called dead PF, and rightfully so. What does it say about a ruling party that struggles to politically defeat an opposition it claimed was finished? What does it say about the government’s media team when it has no coherent strategy apart from insults and distractions?

The truth is simple: Hichilema is running a government where no one is in charge, where those in office are more concerned about protecting their jobs than fixing the country, and where incompetence has been institutionalized as a culture. The silence from his team is not by accident—it is because they have nothing of value to say.

A leader is only as strong as his team. And right now, Zambia has a president surrounded by shadows. If he does not wake up and clean house, the people will do it for him in 2026. The clock is ticking.

CHRISTOPHER KANG’OMBE: A. POTENTIAL CONTENDER FOR THE 2026 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

CHRISTOPHER KANG’OMBE: A POTENTIAL CONTENDER FOR THE 2026 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

Kitwe… Friday February 21, 2025

Political commentator Emmanuel Khantafu Zulu has identified Christopher Kang’ombe as a promising candidate for Zambia’s 2026 presidential elections.

Mr Zulu described Kang’ombe as a rising figure in the country’s political landscape, highlighting his track record as the former Mayor of Kitwe and the current Member of Parliament for Kamfinsa Constituency.

Mr Zulu noted that Kang’ombe had gained a reputation for being pragmatic and development-focused, with a leadership style centered on grassroots engagement, youth empowerment, and infrastructural growth.

He suggested that these attributes positioned Kang’ombe as a potential alternative to Zambia’s current political establishment.

WHY KANG’OMBE COULD BE A STRONG CONTENDER

Mr Zulu pointed out that Kang’ombe’s youthful and visionary leadership set him apart from the traditionally older figures dominating Zambian politics.

He argued that the politician’s ability to connect with young voters, particularly on issues of employment and education, could strengthen his candidacy.

Additionally, Zulu highlighted Kang’ombe’s leadership experience, particularly his tenure as Kitwe Mayor, where he was credited with improving service delivery and advocating for the needs of ordinary citizens.

He stated that Kang’ombe had demonstrated a commitment to good governance and efficiency in public service.

Economic recovery was also cited as a crucial factor in Kang’ombe’s appeal.

Mr Zulu stated that Zambia faced significant challenges, including debt and unemployment, and that Kang’ombe’s approach—focused on small businesses, infrastructure development, and local industries—positioned him as a leader who could help steer the country toward economic stability.

Mr Zulu further observed that Kang’ombe had maintained political independence, making him an attractive option for voters looking for a leader unaligned with traditional political structures.

He explained that this independence allowed him to appeal to supporters from both ruling and opposition parties, potentially making him a unifying candidate.

Hon Kang’ombe’s grassroots connection and popularity were also emphasized.

Mr Zulu said that his work in Kitwe and Kamfinsa had earned him a strong following, particularly in urban and peri-urban areas.

He noted that Kang’ombe’s hands-on governance approach and focus on real issues affecting citizens had enhanced his credibility as a people’s leader.

CHALLENGES AHEAD

Despite these strengths, Zulu acknowledged that Kang’ombe would face several challenges in a presidential bid.

He pointed out that, while Kang’ombe had excelled at the local and constituency levels, leading the nation would require broader experience in national and international governance.

However, he added that Kang’ombe was gaining this experience as a Member of Parliament.

Mr Zulu also mentioned the need for strong political backing, stating that a successful presidential campaign would require support from a well-organized and broad coalition.

Additionally, he observed that Zambia’s political landscape was highly competitive, meaning Kang’ombe would need to build strategic alliances and run a robust national campaign to gain traction against well-established parties like the UPND and PF.

CONCLUSION

Mr Zulu concluded that Christopher Kang’ombe represented a new generation of Zambian leaders who could provide an alternative to the country’s political status quo.

He said that Kang’ombe’s emphasis on youth empowerment, development, and grassroots engagement made him a formidable potential candidate for 2026.

However, he stressed that Kang’ombe’s success would depend on his ability to build a strong national movement, secure broad political support, and navigate Zambia’s complex political environment.

ACC SUSPENDS TOP OFFICIAL AS CITIZENS PUSH FOR REMOVAL OF 3 OTHER BOSSES

ACC SUSPENDS TOP OFFICIAL AS CITIZENS PUSH FOR REMOVAL OF 3 OTHER BOSSES

TOP Anti-Corruption Commission boss Ivor Mukwanka has been put on ice by the Commission following his arrest on Tuesday for alleged abuse of authority.

Mukwanka who is secretary to the Commission was arrested and subsequently suspended from duty following his quizzing on Tuesday by his juniors, for allowing his son to drive a government vehicle contrary to Government’s transport policy.

According to a source, the Ford which is a pool vehicle for ACC offers in Chipata Eastern Province, was involved in an accident when Mukwanka allowed his son to flaunt it around town.

A junior officer,  Nerver Sakala earned himself a transfer to Solwezi, North Western province, when he made revelations about the vehicle’s involvement in an accident during a management meeting.

Mukwanka was also quizzed for 500 litres of fuel which he and three other directors misused in the newly purchased pool vehicles by ACC.

Meanwhile following a story published by Kalemba on February 18, 2025, concerned citizens have lodged a complaint against three directors of ACC, director legal Stella Mulenga, director Investigations Raymond Chibola and director corruption prevention Glenda Mungalaba seeking that they step down pending investigations for the alleged breach of fiduciary duty to the commission.

The citizens are apprehensive that the three may influence the outcome of investigations whilst serving in their top positions.

“On 18th February 2025, the nation was showered with news of how the Commission Secretary who is the controlling officer abused his authority of office. We as concerned citizens are aware that Ivor Mukwanka has since been arrested and yet to appear in court for misusing a Commission vehicle,”read the complaint seen by Kalemba.

“As if this is not enough, the director legal Stella Mulenga, director Investigations Raymond Chibola and director corruption prevention Glenda Mungalaba were named as having misused fuel in the quantity of 500 litres each.”

The concerned citizens said though the said directors are entitled to fuel allowance by virtue of their positions, they owe a fiduciary duty to the Anti-Corruption Commission not to cause detriment to the institution; and are expected to place the interests of the Commission before their own.

“We are aware that the Commission bought vehicles from Toyota Zambia which were delayed to be supplied.  As a way of compensating the Commission for the late delivery of the vehicles, all the vehicles came with fuel coupons. The fuel was therefore property of the Republic,” the citizens said.

“However, the mentioned individuals personally used the fuel coupons even though they were at all times entitled to fuel allowances which they actually received. Since directors owe a fiduciary duty not to cause detriment to the Commission, they ought to have declined that fuel.”

The concerned citizens said the trio’s decision to use fuel coupons knowing very well that they got fuel allowances, fell far below what is expected of them in their capacity.

“It would have been different if the breach of fiduciary duty did not result into personal benefit but in this case, they benefitted from their breach of fiduciary duty,”the Citizens complained

They said the said directors are still occupying office, despite the alleged glaring breach of the obligation to act in the best interest of the public.

The citizens want the three directors to step aside and pave way for investigations in their alleged breach to prevent the institution’s credibility being brought into disrepute.

“We are aware that director investigations and director legal by virtue of their positions can influence the outcome of the investigations directly or indirectly,” the citizens said.

“We are also aware that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands and that these directors were so comfortable abusing authority when Thom Shamakamba was Director-General and it was predictable that Shamakamba
would represent Ivor Mukwanka knowing very much that he is conflicted.”

The citizens urged the Commission to set the standards high by doing the right thing against its own top officials.

“They must step down while investigations are going on otherwise the commission will be setting a bad example to the would-be offenders,”said the concerned citizens.

“Should your office have any doubt about the matters that have been raised herein, we implore you to institute an audit with the aid of the office of the Auditor General to have these matters be brought to finality.”

Bowman Lusambo accounts for wealth, challenges ACC’s bid to forfeit his properties

Bowman Lusambo accounts for wealth, challenges ACC’s bid to forfeit his properties

Former Lusaka Province Minister, Bowman Lusambo, is taking a stand against the Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) request to have his five properties forfeited to the State.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1DDdWPwdhw/?mibextid=oFDknk

The properties, located in Lusaka’s Chamba Valley and Silverest Gardens, are under scrutiny due to claims they were illegally acquired.

In a court application to the Economic and Financial Crimes Court (EFCC), the ACC argued that Lusambo, along with his wife Nancy Manase, business associate Mukuka Mukonge, and the ZDA-Henann Guoji Development Co. Limited, obtained the properties through illicit means.

However, Lusambo has strongly disputed these accusations, asserting that as a former Member of Parliament (MP), minister, and successful businessman, he had the means to lawfully acquire the assets.

The five properties in question are located in two prime Lusaka neighbourhoods—Chamba Valley and Silverest Gardens.

In his affidavit filed in response to the ACC’s claims, Lusambo stated that the allegations are unfounded, asserting that his wealth is the result of years of hard work, business acumen, and government service.

Lusambo recalled that between 2007 and 2009, he worked as a professional salesperson for G-TV, where he earned between K8,000,000 and K10,000,000 (unrebased).

After the company shut down, he ventured into business and continued to grow his wealth, generating between K9,000,000 and K15,000,000 (unrebased) through careful financial management and strategic savings.

His extensive network and business success caught the attention of then-President Rupiah Banda, who appointed Lusambo as the national youth chairperson for mobilisation under the MMD.

He shared that this role brought additional financial rewards, including allowances ranging from K50,000,000 to K150,000,000 (unrebased).

These funds, Lusambo says, were critical in enabling him to acquire the properties in question.

The properties mentioned are property No.  F/609/E/44/B/9,  no. F/609/E/50, HT: T3 HN# 248 , 249 AMD 482 situated in Chamba valley and Silverst Gardens in Lusaka .

“When I was minister and an MP employed under the Government, I also conducted extra economic activities and managed to acquire property No. F/609/E/44/B/9 with an extent of 892  square meters  although the certificate of title was officially issued in 2016,” he said.

He therefore said the allegations of the properties being tainted with corruption were baseless and without merit.

Lusambo submitted that the attempt to attribute suspicion of proceeds of crime  to assets that have been lawfully acquired and are properly accounted for was unjustified.

A Reality Check – Understanding the Emerald Mining Sector

GUEST ARTICLE: A Reality Check – Understanding the Emerald Mining Sector

As president of the Emerald and Semi-Precious Stones Mining Association of Zambia (ESMAZ), I feel compelled to respond to misconceptions and misunderstandings circulating about the emerald mining sector. It’s alarming to see critics who have no grasp of the industry’s complexities, making assertions that are far from the truth.

The emerald mining sector is not a playground for the faint-hearted. It’s a high-risk, high-reward industry that demands resilience, perseverance, and a deep understanding of its dynamics.

We pose two critical questions to our critics:

1. Why do local and international investors shy away from investing in emerald mining despite its potential?
2. Why do investors with substantial resources often abandon their projects after a few years, citing uncertainties and losses?

The experiences of Chinese investors, who built the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, are a case in point. They invested heavily in the emerald industry but abandoned their project due to uncertainties and losses. Five other Chinese companies followed suit, citing unprofitable operations.

So, how have some companies, like Grizzly and Kagem, managed to survive? The answer lies in their ability to take calculated risks, endure losses, and persist in the face of adversity.

It’s essential to understand that the emerald mining sector is not a guaranteed success story. Many small-scale miners hold onto their licenses, despite incurring substantial losses, because they’re inspired by the likes of Grizzly’s proprietor, who embodies the spirit of a risk-taking entrepreneur.

In this context, the suspension of the 15% gemstone export tax is not a “fluke” or a result of corruption, as some critics would have you believe. Rather, it’s a well-informed decision that takes into account the industry’s complexities and the potential consequences of sustaining an unfriendly tax regime.

We must remind our critics that this tax was introduced in 2018/2019 by the PF government and was subsequently suspended after consultations with stakeholders. The current government’s decision to reintroduce and subsequently suspend the tax is beneficial to the country, as it ensures that the gemstone sector remains viable and continues to contribute to the national treasury through mineral royalty, corporate tax, and presumptive tax.

To our fellow Zambians, we urge you to remember that the emerald mining sector is not a simplistic issue that can be reduced to armchair criticisms. It’s a complex industry that demands a nuanced understanding of its challenges and opportunities. Let’s focus on promoting informed discussions and supporting policies that benefit the nation rather than spreading misinformation and negativity.

We invite all those critics calling innocent people corrupt to come and form partnerships with license holders so as to understand the dynamics of the industry and the rationale behind the suspension of the 15% gemstone export tax.

Furthermore, we would like to remind our critics that the 15% export duty was not only restricted to emeralds but also applied to all kinds of other gemstones mined by the Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) sector.

Finally, we call upon the police to investigate and request evidence from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Secretary-General, Changala Siame, to substantiate his claims of corruption regarding the suspension of the 15% gemstone export tax citing the Minister of Finance as being corrupted.

Signed,

Victor Kalesha

HOSTING OF FIRST NC’WALA ACTIVITY ANNUALLY IN LUANGWA – FEIRA TO BOOST LUSAKA TOURISM

0

HOSTING OF FIRST NC’WALA ACTIVITY ANNUALLY IN LUANGWA – FEIRA TO BOOST LUSAKA TOURISM.

GOVERNMENT is happy and optimistic that the staging of the first day of the Nc’wala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni speaking people of Chipata eastern province in Luangwa, will bring about cross cutting economic benefits to Lusaka Province.

Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Robert Kamalata says the provincial administration was impressed by the huge numbers of people who turned up in Luangwa-Feira to witness the crossing of the Zambezi River by Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV of the Ngoni from Zimbabwe to Zambia as thousands of people overwhelmed Feira for the cultural spectacle.

Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people crossed the Zambezi River from the Zimbabwean side to Zambia in Feira-Luangwa just around the confluence of the Luangwa and Zambezi Rivers in a spectacular movement that excited the huge crowd as the occasion reminisced the crossing of the Ngoni King Zwangendaba who crossed with his people into modern day Zambia as he trekked from South Africa fleeing from King Shaka on November 19, 1835.

And Dr Kamalata has described the hosting of the Nc’wala’s first day in Lusaka Province as a success despite coming at short notice, as the province was up to task to successfully host the ceremony.

“We were trying to see how we can help this to become a success. The government came in very strongly, we brought in the marine, the divers here to make sure that there is free passage from across into Feira. These marines you are seeing here actually came a few days ago,” He said.

Dr Ksamalata said this a sign that the government attaches great importance to the ceremony and culture in general.

“We knew that the numbers from outside Luangwa district would were going to swell because this place has got not so many people. We put in a lot of security as you can see on the ground to match the numbers that were going to come here,” He said.

He expressed optimistic that for Luangwa to have all its accommodation facilities such as lodges full including some houses, is a good indicator of the economic value that the Nc’wala will take to Feira as business opportunities will be opened up.

The Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary said therefore, Lusaka Provincial administration is ready to take up the hosting of the first pat of Nc’wala every year and cement the cross-cutting beneficiation of the province economically and culturally.

“For us in Feira and Lungwa we are so excited regardless of what time they want it to be happening whether it happens in February or November, we are ready. You can see this was just a short notice for us and we brought everyone on board and it has been a success, there was no calamity or accident on the river,” Dr Kamalata said.

The staging of the Nc’wala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni people will from 2025 start from Feria in Luanga into Chipata eastern province toward its climax at Mutenguleni as a five days event.

Zambia Army Employs Footballer Lydia Shamalima as a Civilian Emplyee

Zambia Army Employs Footballer Lydia Shamalima as a Civilian Emplyee.

By Buffalo Reporter

Lusaka

Commander Zambia Army Lieutenant General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele has offered employment to 19 – year- old footballer  and Zambia Under 20 Women’s National team player, Lydia Shamalima in the Army as Civilian employee.

Lydia, an orphan who has been struggling to make ends meet and support her 84- year- old grandmother, is a determined young footballer who hopes to play professional football but her dreams almost hit the snag as she had to balance playing football and raising money to support her family and  pay rentals.

As an institution, Zambia Army has shown commitment to empowering Zambian youths through the provision of solid platform upon which they can thrive and better their lives.

As a result, the Army has recognised Lydia’s exceptional potential, resilience and determination and has shown pride to offer her a supportive and inclusive work environment that will enable her to blossom, probably something that will help her also excel in her football career.

Lydia who currently plays for ZISD Football Club, has expressed happiness that she is now an employee of the Zambia Army, a development she adds will help her take care of her grandmother and other family members.

“I am extremely happy today that I am now an employee of the Zambia Army, a reputable institution in the country.

Allow me to say thank you to the Commander Zambia Army, Lt Gen Zyeele for this once in a life time opportunity to serve in the Army as a civilian employee” she said with a smile.

And Zambia Army Deputy Director General of Sports, Commerce and Community Services, Colonel Priscilla Katoba has thanked the Commander Zambia Army for swiftly coming to the aid of the girl.

Col Katoba who is at the same time Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Women’s Representative, reiterated her call to the Corporate World to come in and support women football in the country, stating that Lydia’s case is among many challenges that female footballers face and need to be addressed.

“This is something that is so pleasing I think to everyone, to the Army itself and the country at large. First of all let me appreciate the Commander Zambia Army for coming to the aid of this girl.

I think it’s something that will please the whole nation,” she said.

Lydia has since been enrolled at Chisenga Lumbwe Primary  School where she will continue with her Education.

Musokotwane, Kalyalya, a Failed Pair- Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

Musokotwane, Kalyalya, a Failed Pair

Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba wrote;

The Monetary Policy Rate (MPR), also known as the Bank Rate, is the interest rate set by the Central Bank Central banks raise rates to fight inflation, and lower rates to encourage economic growth.

Despite implementing a tight monetary policy stance by constantly raising the Monetary Policy Rate and increasing the statutory reserve ratio there is NO dent made on inflation target and stable foreign exchange supply on the market.

In all three major functions, the use of the MPR has failed to fight inflation and spur economic growth.

Recently the Bank of Zambia failed to effectively implement the Export Proceeds Tracking Mechanism, an electronic system designed to monitor and record all export earnings generated by Zambian companies, primarily focusing on the mining sector, ensuring that these funds are repatriated back into the country and properly accounted for within the Zambian financial system.

This failure has adverse effect on foreign exchange supply from the mining sector, and the the depreciation of the Kwacha against the US dollar has continued significantly and between December 2023(K24) and todate the Kwacha standing at K28.

This is partly because, on the fiscal side, Minister of Finance, Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, will not allow it.

He gives all sorts of tax and other incentives to the mines including encouraging the mine houses to avoid adhering to the export proceeds tracking mechanism.

●He abolished windfall tax.

●He abolished non-deductible mineral royalty tax that was earning Zambia $1.1billion every year since 2019.

●He has abolished export duty on precious stones and other metals ( Musokotwane must publidh the list of metals excluded from export duty).

● he has relied in racking up more loans, extensive borrowings to run the economy, racking up the foreign debt from $11.9 billion as at August 2021 to $14.9 billion and domestic debt from K78 billion to K236billion in December 2024.

This pair has taken the economy to its doldrums, failing to curb high cost of living, grow the economy, curb unemployment, alleviate poverty, and curb the rising social, political and civil tensions that have continued to rise.

This pair is only taking President Hakainde Hichilema to one destination- out of power.

HH HAS MISERABLY FAILED AND HAS NO FURTHER BUSINESS BEING IN GOVERNMENT BEYOND 2026- Nason Msoni

By Nason Msoni

HH HAS MISERABLY FAILED AND HAS NO FURTHER BUSINESS BEING IN GOVERNMENT BEYOND 2026

HH has no further business being in government beyond 2026. He has no further business for seeking an earned second term of office.

He must show what he has achieved in the last four years before reaching out for another term of office in August 2026.

The second term of office is not an automatic entitlement even when you have failed to deliver deliverables to public expectations.

For avoidance of doubt we challenge him to clearly point out what he has delivered before seeking another political mandate. Political mandate is not absolute but relative to performance.

In a nutshell he has no legitimate basis for seeking a second term of office as he has clearly nothing to show for the time he has been in office.

The misery and suffering amongst our people speaks for itself.

The man has lamentably failed even just to make credible inclusive decent appointments in government and state quangos.

He has not had a proper cabinet reshuffle since constituting his government 2021 save for the transferring of one allegedly corrupt Minister to another Ministry even when he or she has had overwhelming evidence of wrongdoing in a particular Ministry.

Surly even just reshuffling his own cabinet has been a challenge.

He himself had told us that he had corrupt Ministers in his Cabinet and the ACC had similarly confirmed that they were investigating corrupt Ministers in the UPND government. To date nothing has come out it. In totally one gets the impression that he is protecting them for crimes that he himself knows too well.

When you are a leader you can’t have your finger in every pie. Otherwise your subordinates will hold you hostage and then you can’t fire them for the obvious reason. In the end you have an incompetent government that can’t deliver.

In the end, Zambians will certainly vote out a do-nothing incompetent President and replace him with a man who will deliver. Nothing has come out of it in totality.

UPND MPs’ Walkout of Parliament: A Shameful Abdication of Duty Amidst a National Crisis

PRESS STATEMENT

UPND MPs’ Walkout of Parliament: A Shameful Abdication of Duty Amidst a National Crisis

The decision by UPND Members of Parliament to walk out of Parliament rather than debate the crippling cost of living is a national disgrace. It is a blatant act of betrayal against the very people who entrusted them with the responsibility to lead. At a time when Zambians are struggling to put food on the table, facing unacceptable 24-hour load shedding, and dealing with record-high fuel prices, the UPND has chosen political cowardice over accountability.

The motion tabled was not about Mutotwe Kafwaya or the PF it was about the people of Zambia. Zambians voted for the UPND based on their promise to lower the cost of living, not to run away from responsibility. Today, instead of providing answers and solutions, they are walking out of Parliament like scared children avoiding hard questions. This is not leadership it is deception, arrogance, and an outright insult to the millions of Zambians suffering under their rule.

Under UPND’s watch, the cost of mealie meal, fuel, and essential commodities has skyrocketed. Families are suffering, businesses are collapsing, and the economy is in turmoil.

Yet, rather than facing reality, this government is more concerned with dodging accountability and suppressing dialogue. How can a government that promised relief now run away from discussing the very crisis they swore to fix?

The UPND must stop taking Zambians for a ride and take full responsibility for the economic hardships they have caused. If they cannot provide solutions, why should Zambians keep them in power?

President Hakainde Hichilema himself, while in opposition, stated that if a government fails to change people’s lives, the people should change that government. And that time is now!

By walking out of Parliament, the UPND has admitted their failure, proving that they have no solutions to the suffering they have caused, and fail that to  address the plight of millions of Zambians who are wallowing in abject poverty.

Enough is enough! We cannot continue to entertain this mediocrity and allow incompetent leadership to keep destroying our country.

These are the same failures who granted mining houses unnecessary tax holidays and carelessly sold maize, depriving Zambia of much-needed revenue.

As if that wasn’t enough, they have now gone further to remove the 15% duty on precious stones and other minerals decisions that have only benefited foreign investors while leaving ordinary Zambians to suffer.

Now, when given the opportunity to debate real issues affecting the people, they run away like cowards. What a disgrace!

Ex- PF commander Francis Muchemwa appeals conviction, seeks retrial

Ex- PF commander appeals conviction, seeks retrial

Former PF Inter-City Bus Terminus commander, Francis Muchemwa, has requested the Lusaka High Court to overturn his conviction and sentence, citing an error in law by the subordinate court.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19seEGUYhU/?mibextid=oFDknk

Muchemwa argues that his conviction was based on his failure to submit documentary evidence due to a technicality, which he claims unjustly impacted his defense.

Muchemwa, convicted in 2024 on six counts of possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime, is seeking a retrial in the interest of justice.

He believes that the failure to present key evidence was caused by the trial court’s refusal to admit his documents.

Muchemwa argued that chief resident magistrate, Davies Chibwili misdirected himself at trial in law when he found him guilty in count 1 to 6 on the basis of failure to submit documentary evidence due to a technicality.

The appellant said he was charged and convicted in six counts of the offence of possession of property reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime on properties namely; L/26392/M, located in Silverest valued at K2.5 million, L/26395/M, located in Silverest valued at K5.7 million.

Other properties include; Property Number L/28477/ and L/28477/Y, both located in Silverest valued at K2.6 million and a FAW Truck with Registration No. BAR 9058ZM, valued at US$62,000.

Muchemwa further argued that the trial magistrate, Chief Resident Magistrate Davies Chibwili, wrongly relied on a lack of documentary evidence to determine guilt.

However, Muchemwa in his submission argued that the failure for him to discharge his evidentiary burden was occasioned by the refusal of the trial court to admit his bundles of documents to aid his defence.

Last year, Magistrate Chibwili convicted and sentenced Muchemwa to three years imprisonment with hard labour after he found him guilty of corrupt practices worth over K12 million.

Muchemwa was jointly charged with two persons in the name of companies namely Friltech Networks Zambia Ltd and Altitude properties Ltd who were fined K200,000 each.

He applied for a bail application which was denied on grounds that it did not not raise mitigating factors for him to be released.

“As the Record of Appeal shows at pages 188,189,190,193 and 196 the Defence had made several applications to adjourn the hearing on the pretext that some of the pertinent documents favourable to the Appellant’s case was in the possession of the Prosecution, who had seized them in 2022.”

Further, the appellant has invited the court to consider page 197 of the record, at which the defence made an application to extend the time within which to file the appellant’s bundles of documents.

Muchemwa complained that the trial court did not accord him a fair trial having refused him an opportunity to produce documents to aid his defence.

“The trial court took cognisant of the fact that Section 71 (2) of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act required evidence to show that there was no reasonable ground for suspecting that the property owned was derived from unlawful means,” he submitted.

He further submitted that by taking cognisant of the fact that the Economic and Financial Crimes Court Rules, 2024, took effect after the Appellant had been put on his defence, the trial court should have exercised its discretion to allow the appellant to lodge in his bundles of documents, despite any obtaining technicalities or delays, as such was in the interest of justice.

Muchemwa said the prosecution failed to provide additional evidence to prove their case other than the assertion that he did not submit written reports of his activity.

“It is our prayer that this court sets aside the conviction and sentence imposed by the trial Court. This is in line with the provisions of Section 327 (1) (b) (i) of the Criminal Procedure Code Chapter, 88 of the Laws of Zambia,” he submitted.

GOVT RISK HAVING ZAMBIA BANNED – MILES SAMPA

GOVT RISK HAVING ZAMBIA BANNED – MILES

The Zambian government risk having the country banned from international football, Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa has warned.

Commenting on the impasse at the ongoing election process at Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and government warning that it will not recognize the Andrew Kamanga led executive after February 28, Sampa observed that FIFA will not tolerate any interference from government.

Sampa said Zambia will be banned from international football and the Fans will be angry with the Hakainde Hichilema administration.

Kamanga went Unopposed after eight of his opponents had their nominations invalidated, a situation that has gone well with government.

Government through the National Sports  Council has since demanded that FAZ provides the reasons for the invalidation of the candidature of the eight.

Here is Samoa’s take on the matter:

ABOUT FAZ & ITS LEADERSHIP DEBACLE

MBS20.02.2025

I can safely  say that I have a loci standi (sufficient interest or stakeholder) as far as Zambian football goes.

Firstly as a fiercy striker of chimpombwa (home made ball ) bare foot football when was a boy in Matero. Then a ball boy at Matero and Independence stadium. Name them; parted them all on the back with ‘ well played’ after each game. It was showing off point to my buddies. I touched him on the back !
These were likes of Ucar, Jack Chanda, Jones Chilengi, Alex Chola, Peter Kaumba, Kalusha Bwalya etc.

Would later on in life own (and still do) a football team. Then I became  a FAZ Committee member during the Kalusha Bwalya reign as President at FAZ.

I know Andrew Kamanga from way back during our Round Table days to when I was the deputy Minister of Finance & he a consultant for various international investors. Andrew is a colleague and so is Keith Meeemba who was once my lawyer  and represented me very well in the cases he handled for me. Godfrey Chikumbi I got to meet him then as a young soccer enthusiast via Kalusha when I was at FAZ as Committee member. I am rather impressed with how he has grown into a football influencer or stake holder.

It’s however not the reason why I am not taking sides in the current leadership saga. It’s because I am fully aware that as an elected official, it’s safer to play neutral because the matter is highly polarized (split in two) amongst those that voted for me or those l wish to vote for me in future .

Based on my experience in the management of the game however,  I can share my impartial views on the FAZ status quo. The basics and foundation point to consider as a Nation is that only FIFA has the first and last say on all football matters. It’s not a government, minister, sports council or President issue to resolve. Actually the more they get involved; the more they will upset FIFA.

FIFA loath any acts that can be deemed as third party interference in the running of football in a Country. It does not matter the gravity of the matter at hand but they only listen and respond to their affiliates and in this case FAZ.

Firstly it should not be in anyone’s interest to get Zambia banned given that we have both our women and men teams qualified to various continental cups tournament. Who knows; we could qualify to the World Cup if we play and win all games remaining. Never say never.

My take is that the aggrieved 8 applicants should follow the enshrined processes by first appealing to  the FAZ Apeals committee. This if only to exhaust the laid down channels and then after which they should apeal to CAF and FIFA. If these channels do not work to their satisfaction, then high Court of Zambia would be the option.

Otherwise best wishes to all 9 applicants and may the very best of them all emerge as the FAZ President after March 2025.

May football be the ultimate winner that Zambians so love and will not forgive anyone (be it Andrew, the 8 applicants, Governement or the President) that will lead to Zambia being banned by FIFA. It can easily happen if emotions will be used to resolve the impasse instead of due FIFA set processes of football conflicts resolutions.

As for the government and unfortunately for them, their only role starts and ends at providing logistical resources and finances for the coaches and the National teams. They however stand to get the wrath of the fans and Zambians for all the potential negative outcomes or losses both on the playing field and at FAZ. Always tempting to over step as a result.

In the end all that ordinary Zambians and fans want to see is a FAZ that will have our National football teams for male and female be able to win games, Cups 🏆 and Championships.

As Dennis Liwewe once put it; Football is not just a game in Zambia, but a religion of its own kind. All stakeholders should play their roles carefully and decisively for the good of the game and for the sake of the majority if not all Zambians that love the game.

NDOLA PATIENT CONFIRMS BEING PINCHED BY HUSBAND’S EX, A NURSE

NDOLA PATIENT CONFIRMS BEING PINCHED BY HUSBAND’S EX, A NURSE.

A nurse from a named hospital in Ndola has proved heartbreaks never heal after allegedly pinching a pregnant woman who is now married to the man she dearly loved in college.

According to information available, in the early hours of the morning today, a pregnant woman with her husband reportedly drove into the hospital premises and walked in like an ideal couple despite the other sleeping in the kitchen the previous night.

However, everything turned upside down when the man realized the person in charge was his ex, the wife did not notice the moving of the cards.

The nurse suddenly changed, her smile disappeared, the tight uniform became loose, her make up was already wearing out exposing the man hidden underneath, who even allows them to wear make up?

In no time, the husband walked out excusing himself to inform his father that he was at the hospital. The nurse helped the wife to sleep on the bed and gave her the first pinch on the butt then followed her ex outside.

It is believed the two had a talk outside before the alleged nurse came back into the ward and started pinching the pregnant woman every chance she got.

At first, the woman did not care trusting the ability of hardworking GCE nurses but after noticing that the pinching was getting out of hand and there was no type of massage like it, she asked what was going on.

The nurse did not respond but even got worse. The woman started calling for help and this was when other pregnant women and nurses got concerned and asked what was happening.

The pregnant woman narrated what the nurse was doing but she refused saying it was probably the baby kicking in her womb.

The woman got furious saying no baby kicks in the butt, I am not a child you have been pinching me all this time. Let me get out of this hospital she continued to shout trying to remove the cannula which was also wrongly inserted.

When the husband came back, he released the cat which was tied for ages; is it because of our past that you have stooped so low getting revenge on my sick wife.

Meanwhile, after causing this kind of drama, the nurse remained quiet and walked out of the ward. The pregnant woman has confirmed being pinched on the butt, hand and neck by the angry and envious nurse.

Zimbabwe Defence Industries removed from EU sanctions

THE European Union Council has removed the Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI) from its restrictive measures imposed in 2002, but maintained its embargo on arms and equipment that could be utilised for internal repression, underscoring its commitment to monitoring the situation closely.

The council also announced the renewal of its framework for restrictive measures concerning Zimbabwe, extending them to February 2026.

In a statement on Tuesday, the EU expressed its readiness to adapt its policies in response to evolving conditions in Zimbabwe, particularly concerning human rights.

“The council today renewed its framework for restrictive measures in view of the situation in Zimbabwe for a further year, until February 20, 2026,” the bloc said. “The council also delisted the last remaining entity, the Zimbabwe Defence Industries. The embargo on arms and equipment which might be used for internal repression remains in place.”

Political commentator Rejoice Ngwenya said the EU was closely monitoring the situation in Zimbabwe to remind its leaders that the bloc would never allow it to perpetrate human rights violations.

“Zimbabwe is yet to undergo a full 360-degree democratic evolution. We still have a President and captured MPs who connive with the Judiciary to defeat the cause of freedom,” he said. “Therefore, that the EU will continue following developments closely is an appropriate way to remind Emmerson Mnangagwa and his cronies that, in Liverpool’s lingua franca, ‘we will never walk alone’.”

However, political analyst Effie Ncube said relations between Zimbabwe and the EU were improving as the bloc pushes for democratic societies that uphold the rule of law, human rights, and fundamental freedoms in the best interests of both sides, their economies, and their citizens.

“To get to a stage where all restrictive measures on legitimate economic and trade relations between Zimbabwe and the EU are lifted will take sustained and practical engagements on contentious issues and a willingness to take the necessary decisions,” Ncube said.

“Excellent relations between Zimbabwe and the EU as free and democratic societies that uphold the rule of law, human rights, and fundamental freedoms are in the best interests of both sides, their economies, and their citizens. Therefore, the steps taken by the EU, though not wholly lifting all restrictions, is a step in the right direction that should encourage further engagements. With the necessary will on all sides, better relations are possible.”

The EU imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe in response to the escalation of violence and intimidation of political opponents and the harassment of the independent press in 2002. These measures included an embargo on arms and equipment that could be used for internal repression, travel bans, and asset freezes.

The designation criteria were expanded in 2008 in response to violence during the Zimbabwean presidential election campaign. However, in response to progress made in the Zimbabwean constitutional referendum in March 2013, the EU suspended travel bans and asset freezes imposed on the majority of individuals and entities on the sanctions list.

The longest reigns: Africa’s presidents who have defied term limits

0

Africa’s political landscape has been shaped by a handful of leaders who have managed to maintain their grip on power for decades.

These individuals have overseen significant events, made pivotal decisions, and left an indelible mark on their respective countries. However, their extended tenures have also raised concerns about democracy, human rights, and the concentration of power.

At the top of the list is Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who has ruled Equatorial Guinea for an impressive 46 years. Since seizing power in 1979, Obiang has become one of the longest-serving heads of state in the world. His presidency has been marked by allegations of human rights abuses, electoral fraud, and the suppression of political opposition.

Paul Biya, Cameroon’s president since 1982, is another long-serving leader who has maintained his position for 43 years. Biya’s tenure has been marred by controversy, including allegations of electoral manipulation and human rights abuses. Despite these concerns, Biya remains one of the most enduring figures in African politics.

Yoweri Museveni, Uganda’s president since 1986, has been in power for an impressive 39 years. Museveni’s presidency has been marked by significant economic growth and development, but also by allegations of human rights abuses and electoral manipulation.

Other long-serving African presidents include Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea (34 years), Denis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of the Congo (41 years), and Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti (26 years). These leaders have managed to maintain their positions through a combination of constitutional changes, electoral manipulation, and the suppression of political opposition.

The legacy of these long-serving presidents is complex and multifaceted. On the one hand, they have overseen significant economic growth and development in their respective countries. On the other hand, their extended tenures have raised concerns about democracy, human rights, and the concentration of power.

Critics argue that these leaders have used their positions to entrench themselves in power, often at the expense of their citizens’ rights and freedoms. They point to allegations of electoral manipulation, human rights abuses, and the suppression of political opposition as evidence of their authoritarian tendencies.

Supporters, on the other hand, argue that these leaders have brought stability and continuity to their respective countries. They point to significant economic growth and development, as well as improvements in healthcare and education, as evidence of their effectiveness.

Ultimately, the legacy of Africa’s longest-serving presidents will depend on how their tenures are evaluated by history. Will they be remembered as visionary leaders who brought prosperity and stability to their countries, or as authoritarian figures who suppressed democracy and human rights?

As the continent continues to evolve and grow, it is essential to reflect on the lessons of the past. What can be learned from the experiences of Africa’s longest-serving presidents? How can their successes and failures inform the development of more effective and democratic leadership in the future?

These are questions that will continue to shape the debate about leadership and governance in Africa. As the continent moves forward, it is essential to prioritize democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. Only by doing so can Africa’s leaders ensure that their tenures are marked by prosperity, stability, and the well-being of their citizens.

2Pac Murder Trial Delayed To 2026 After New Evidence Allegedly Supports Keefe D’s Innocence

0

2Pac‘s murder trial has been delayed until next year after new evidence was discovered, allegedly supporting Keefe D‘s not guilty plea.

Originally scheduled to start next month in Las Vegas, the trial was postponed to February 9, 2026, by Judge Carli Kierny during a hearing on Tuesday (February 18).

The ruling came after Keefe D (real name Duane Davis), who is the only person to ever be charged with the killing of the rap legend, filed a motion to delay the trial, citing new witness testimony which apparently helps to prove his innocence.

Judge Kierny said during the hearing: “It looks like there are quite a few things that are left to be done to get this case prepared so that Mr Davis can have effective assistance of counsel.”

The judge also asked Keefe D if he agreed to the delay, which he did.

In the aforementioned motion, Keefe D’s legal team argued that they needed more time to interview witnesses and do investigative work that was critical to their case.

According to the defense, investigators have discovered witnesses who can prove that Keefe D was not at the scene of the murder, which occured in September 1996 on the Las Vegas strip.

Keefe D has been in police custody since September 2023 when he was charged with orchestrating the fatal shooting of 2Pac, which marked the first arrest in the decades-old case.

He also recently attempted to get his murder charge dismissed, claiming that he had previously agreed an immunity deal with law enforcement.

The former Compton Crip told detectives in 2008 that he was involved in ‘Pac’s murder, but his lawyers argued that he made this admission as part of a proffer agreement, meaning anything he said could not be used against him in court, and that this agreement should still stand.

Prosecutors denied that there was any evidence of such an agreement, which the judge ultimately agreed with, ruling in their favor.

Keefe’s legal team have also said that various other statements he has made about 2Pac’s murder were just for “entertainment purposes.”

Army checkmates Mnangagwa?

After President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Monday told selected editors at State House that he will not extend his rule beyond his 2028 second-term constitutional limit, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s military-backed Zanu-PF faction played checkmate, bringing the ED2030 campaign to a screeching halt.

Chiwenga’s faction had already unleashed war veterans to pressure Mnangagwa into abandoning his third-term project while also demanding his departure, accusing him of dismal failure. The war veterans further charged Mnangagwa with nepotism, mismanagement, cronyism, corruption, and incompetence.

Mnangagwa’s allies fought back against the war veterans, particularly targeting Blessed Geza, who became their most vocal critic. Geza has since fled the country after facing backlash from Mnangagwa’s allies, officials, youth league leaders, and ministers. Police are currently hunting for Geza, who now faces four criminal charges, including allegedly undermining the authority of and insulting the President. Authorities are also contemplating a murder charge against him.

Following Monday’s turning point, the display of armoured personnel carriers in Harare yesterday was widely interpreted as a show of military strength amid the ongoing succession power struggle between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga. The unresolved leadership tensions have been simmering for some time, with Chiwenga reportedly consolidating support within the military and Zanu-PF to block Mnangagwa’s attempt to extend his rule beyond two terms.

Although Mnangagwa repeatedly denied any intentions to remain in power beyond 2028, his actions often contradicted his statements. Chiwenga has moved to tighten his grip on the military, evidenced by the recent appointments of his allies, Zimbabwe National Army commander Lieutenant-General Anselem Sanyatwe and Air Marshal John Jacob Nzvede, as the army and air force chiefs, respectively. These strategic moves are seen as efforts to position Chiwenga’s allies in influential roles, paving the way for a major political challenge to Mnangagwa.

Mnangagwa, however, still retains some influence through Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander General Philip Valerio Sibanda, whose tenure he recently extended by a year. Sibanda had been expected to retire, presenting an opportunity for Chiwenga to further consolidate his power. Mnangagwa attempted to transition Sibanda into mainstream politics by appointing him to the Zanu-PF decision-making politburo as a counterbalance to Chiwenga, but the move failed due to constitutional restrictions.

Having allowed his allies and supporters to campaign for a third term, and after forcing through a crucial resolution at the Zanu-PF annual conference in Bulawayo last October, Mnangagwa’s plan has now unraveled. The display of military hardware in Harare was seen as a clear show of force by Chiwenga’s faction, signaling their readiness to take control.

Military sources and analysts viewed the show of power as a significant moment, highlighting the army’s leverage in Zimbabwean politics. Armoured personnel carriers, typically used to transport troops and equipment in combat zones, were displayed publicly, demonstrating military strength. While such displays are common for ceremonial purposes in many nations, in Zimbabwe’s politically charged climate, the parade carried deeper implications.

The brandishing of military hardware can influence public perception, serving as both a demonstration of strength and a potential tool for coercion. Given Zimbabwe’s history of political instability and human rights concerns, the military’s involvement in this power struggle is cause for concern.

Ultimately, the parading of armoured personnel carriers in Harare underscores the complexities and nuances of Zimbabwe’s political landscape. While it signals Mnangagwa’s apparent checkmate, it also raises broader questions about the military’s role in governance.

This development heightens concerns over the country’s stability, already undermined by severe economic challenges. As the power struggle between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga escalates, Zimbabweans are left uncertain about their nation’s future.

Serena Williams Slams “Petty” Criticism Of Her Super Bowl LIX Appearance

0

Retired tennis pro, Serena Williams, has addressed allegations that her appearance at the Super Bowl LIX Apple Music Halftime Show was intended to attack Drake.

Serena reportedly supported her husband, Alex Ohanian, who came to her defense after her performance at the show.

In the course of the programme, which aired live last Sunday, February 9, 2025, Williams closed out the set with a cameo during Kendrick’s Not Like Us.

However, some viewers found the decision to be controversial, as Williams previously dated Drake, who Kendrick addresses on the Mustard-produced track.

The following day, Ohanian shared a portion of the performance on X, alongside a news clip of sports reporter Jason Whitlock criticizing Williams. In Whitlock’s view, Williams’ cameo was akin to cracking a tasteless, X-rated joke inside a church.

“Some of y’all have no idea how criticized Serena was for this same dance at Wimbledon 13 years ago and it shows
. This is bigger than the music,” Ohanian captioned the post.

His partner responded by posting: “That there my baby daddy and husband. Always got my back. I Love you 🥰 Gosh I’m so late to the game (I’ve been sick) & busy investing in billion-dollar companies and running @WYNbeauty
def not dancing to be petty lol. I think I proved 23 times over (not counting 4 gold

In an earlier report, DJ Mustard, the producer of Kendrick Lamar’s trending song, “Not Like Us”, has shared a tip or two with Drake, about how he can bounce back, following Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl.

The Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show saw the Compton MC reportedly embarrass the Canadian hitmaker on all levels. The performances of Euphoria and Not Like Us are predicted to be major timestamps in the ongoing beef between the two hip-hop titans.

Overall, they were incredible moments to witness, a sentiment that DJ Mustard can agree with. He expressed just how thrilling it was to be there with Lamar on the field in an over-the-phone interview with radio host, Big Boy.

Also, TNT has an agreement with ESPN to license Inside the NBA in exchange for a package of Big 12 college football and basketball games. What is more, the deal keeps the show alive and also ensures its legendary cast stays intact.

Often called “Shaq’ or “The Big Aristotle”, the NBA legend was only an infant when his father was jailed on drug charges in Kentucky. When his father was eventually released from prison, he left his son’s life. And so he grew up with his mother and stepfather, Phillip Harrison.

Man Murders His 7-Month-Old Daughter ‘To Spite’ His Baby Mama After Their Break-Up

A 30-year-old man, Hloniphani Trust Sithole, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after he murdered of his seven-month-old daughter, Ntokozo Mokoena to spite his baby mama after their break-up. The Gauteng High Court delivered the verdict last week, marking the end of a tragic chapter that has left the community reeling.

According to Phindi Mjonondwane, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Sithole had been in a romantic relationship with Ntokozo’s mother. The couple lived together in Kagiso, located on the West Rand, until their relationship came to an abrupt end just two weeks before the devastating incident.

Man murders his daughter and sends pictures to mother
Investigations led by Sergeant Andrew Maswanganyi revealed that on February 26, 2024, Sithole took his daughter under the pretense of going shopping. However, he never returned with the child. Distraught, the mother reported her daughter missing. Over the next two days, Sithole sent voice messages and photos to the mother, directing her to the location of the child’s body. Law enforcement officers and community members followed these clues and discovered the lifeless body of the infant in an open field.

Paramedics later confirmed that Ntokozo had died due to strangulation. The details of the case painted a grim picture of the events that unfolded, leaving the community in mourning and outrage.

Sithole was involved in another crime in a separate incident on March 7, 2024. He robbed a victim at knifepoint, stealing their cellphone and wallet. He was later apprehended by members of the community policing forum, who found him in possession of the stolen items. This additional crime further highlighted Sithole’s disregard for the law and the safety of others

Mother’s Heartbreaking Victim Impact Statement
During the trial, Ntokozo’s mother delivered a powerful victim impact statement, expressing the profound emotional trauma she has endured since the loss of her daughter. She pleaded with the court to ensure that Sithole spends the rest of his life behind bars, emphasizing the irreparable damage he has caused.

State Advocate Zamikhaya Staffa echoed her sentiments, urging the court to impose a severe sentence. He highlighted the alarming increase in violence against women and children in South Africa and stressed the importance of a strong judicial response to deter such crimes in the future.

Court’s Decision and Additional Sentences
The court agreed with the prosecution’s arguments, acknowledging the prevalence of such heinous crimes and the need for justice to be served. In addition to the life sentence for murder, the court imposed a five-year sentence for kidnapping and a 15-year sentence for robbery. These sentences will run concurrently, ensuring that Sithole remains incarcerated for the foreseeable future.

The NPA has expressed its approval of the court’s decision, reiterating its commitment to combating violence and abuse against women and children. The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.

JAY-Z Claims He’s Lost $20 Million Over Rape Lawsuit Drama

0

JAY-Z has claimed that he has lost $20 million as a result of the recently dismissed rape lawsuit filed against him and Diddy.

While the lawsuit was dropped by the anonymous accuser last week, Hov claims to have suffered significant financial harm due to the explosive nature of the allegations.

cuser, the rap mogul claimed that he lost out on contracts totaling $20 million as a result of the lawsuit.

“Mr. Buzbee’s actions undermined my relationship, and my company Roc Nation’s relationship, with other businesses in the sports and entertainment space,” the filing reads.

“We have agreements to produce entertainment programs for certain sporting events. After Mr. Buzbee filed the lawsuit, the media reported that other businesses could end their deals with Roc Nation, and forced one to speak out and address whether these false allegations would end our business relationship,” it adds, alluding to the NFL.

“Immediately after Mr. Buzbee went public with his false accusations, my company Roc Nation also lost other contracts in the sports and entertainment space that would have generated revenues of approximately $20 million per year.”

JAY-Z also accused Buzbee of deliberately timing the lawsuit to coincide with the premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King, which stars his wife BeyoncĂ© and daughter Blue Ivy, to “put me in the position of having to choose between supporting my daughter or hiding to avoid the negative press.”

He added: “I was harshly criticized by others for accompanying my daughter to the premiere of her movie a day after Mr. Buzbee filed the Jane Doe lawsuit against me. Media outlets reported that Disney was hesitant over my attendance at the premiere because of the accusations.”

The lawsuit, which accused JAY-Z and Diddy of raping a 13-year-old at a party in 2000, was dismissed without prejudice last Friday (February 14) after the plaintiff voluntarily withdrew the suit.

Hov celebrated the move as a “victory,” despite the damaging impact of the allegations.

“The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims,” he said in a statement. “I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loves ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”

He also hit out at Buzbee, adding: “This 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit hiding behind Jane Doe, and when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions. The system has failed.

“The court must protect victims, OF COURSE, while with the same ethical responsibility, the courts must protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally.”

Diddy’s legal team also welcomed the move, saying: “Today’s complete dismissal without a settlement by the 1-800 attorney is yet another confirmation that these lawsuits are built on falsehoods, not facts,” referencing the vast number of other sexual assault allegations against the Bad Boy boss.

Rihanna releases statement after A$AP Rocky found not guilty in felony assault trial

A$AP Rocky has been found not guilty of firing a gun at a former friend. The rapper, 36, faced two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm in connection to a 2021 shooting incident.

Terell Ephron claimed the rapper shot at him during an argument on a Hollywood street on November 6, 2021, grazing his knuckles with one of the shots.

But Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, argued that the weapon was a prop gun and that his former friend, Ephron, otherwise known as A$AP Relli, was only after money.

On Tuesday, a jury in Los Angeles acquitted the Grammy-nominated hip-hop star, who could have faced up to 24 years behind bars if convicted.

As the first not-guilty verdict was read, Rocky rushed to embrace his partner, who was seated alongside Rocky’s mother, Renee Black, and sister, Erika B. Mayers.

“Thanks y’all for saving my life,” the rapper told the jury as he left the courtroom, according to the Associated Press.

Not too long after the verdict, Rihanna took to Instagram to react, writing: “THE GLORY BELONGS TO GOD AND GOD ALONE! THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!”

Rihanna was a constant presence in the courtroom throughout the trial. She even brought along their two sons, two-year-old RZA and one-year-old Riot, for Tuesday’s verdict.

Rocky was arrested in April 2022 upon returning to Los Angeles from Barbados with Rihanna. He faced two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic weapon but pleaded not guilty. Before opening statements in January, Rocky rejected a plea deal that included six months in jail, a seven-year suspended sentence, and three years of probation.

The rapper was expected to take the stand in his trial but chose not to testify in his defense. He maintained that he was carrying a prop gun for security on the night of the alleged incident.

Rocky’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, supported his client’s claim, stating that the gun involved was a starter pistol that only fired blanks. Earlier last week, Rocky’s tour manager, Lou Levin, testified that he advised the rapper to carry the prop gun following a break-in at his home by a stalker and other security concerns.

Levin testified that he obtained the prop gun from a video shoot in the summer of 2021, months before the incident. He returned it to the co-director, but after Rocky’s arrest, the gun was no longer available.

The defense stated they did not have the starter pistol, which authorities also failed to recover. Levin also confirmed that an ammunition magazine found at Rocky’s home belonged to him.

Prosecutors, however, called Levin’s story a lie, while Levin insisted it was the truth. The prosecution alleged that on November 6, 2021, Rocky pointed a gun at his former friend during a confrontation and shot at him, causing minor injuries.

Ephron testified against Rocky, claiming the rapper pointed a gun at his stomach, threatened to kill him, and fired at least four shots. Ephron said one shot hit his hand, and he reported the incident the following day. Ephron recovered two 9mm shell casings from the scene, but the weapon allegedly used by Rocky was never found.

Ephron, a former friend and collaborator of Mayers, said their relationship began in high school but soured as Mayers’ fame grew, especially when he started backing out of business deals.

At pre-trial hearings in November, Rocky’s attorneys sought to exclude surveillance footage of him holding a gun, arguing it should not be admissible. Prosecutors contended the video shows Rocky firing the weapon, a claim his lawyers denied.

Detective Frank Flores of the Los Angeles Police Department testified that the footage showed a gun in Rocky’s hand, but under cross-examination, he admitted the weapon was never recovered.

Rocky, a member of the A$AP Mob collective, which was formed in 2005, joined the group in 2007.

He is now set to release his first solo album in almost a decade and will co-chair the prestigious Met Gala in May alongside Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, and Pharrell Williams. He will also headline the Rolling Loud festival in March and star opposite Denzel Washington in Spike Lee’s upcoming film Highest 2 Lowest.

Diddy Attempts To Dismiss Federal Sex Charge, Calling It ‘Racist’

0

Diddy is moving to dismiss a charge in the superseding indictment filed against him, alleging that the law itself is “racist.”

The mogul’s motion, filed on Tuesday (February 18), focuses on the charge of transportation to engage in prostitution, one of three counts in the indictment along with sex trafficking and racketeering.

It claims that there has never been a similar prosecution under the Mann Act and no white person has ever been targeted with the law, which has been in place for over 100 years and was designed to prohibit the transportation of women for sex.

The filing claims that Diddy is the victim of racism from the government, saying: “Mr. Combs has been singled out because he is a powerful Black man, and he is being prosecuted for conduct that regularly goes unpunished.”

It adds: “What was racist in its inception has often been racist in its operation.”

The filing also reiterates the defense’s argument that all sexual activity involving Diddy and others was consensual: “The government has concocted a criminal case based primarily on allegations that Mr. Combs and two of his longtime girlfriends sometimes brought a third party — a male escort — into their sexual relationship.”

It also repeats the accusation that federal prosecutors have been leaking information about the case to the media: “The government’s handling of this case demonstrates bias and animus. It has gone out of its way to humiliate Mr. Combs and to prejudice the jury pool with pretrial publicity that plays on racist tropes. It has leaked damaging (and often times false) material to the press.”

The prosecution have yet to respond to Diddy’s motion to dismiss the charge or the allegations of racism.

The government previously rejected claims that they were discriminating against the Bad Boy boss based on his race.

During a pre-trial hearing last October, a prosecutor called similar accusations made by Diddy’s legal team “baseless” and claimed that they posed a “serious risk” to the conduction of a fair trial.

Puffy, who has been in jail since his arrest last September, has denied all allegations against him and has repeatedly claimed that all instances of sexual activity were consensual.

His trial is currently scheduled to begin on May 5. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

MINISTERIAL STATEMENT ON THE HEALTH STATUS OF EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU AND EDITH  NAWAKWI DELIVERED TO THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF ZAMBIA ON 20TH FEBRUARY 2025

MINISTERIAL STATEMENT ON THE HEALTH STATUS OF EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU – FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA
AND MS. EDITH ZEWELANI NAWAKWI – FORUM FOR DEMOCRACY AND DEVELOPMENT
DELIVERED TO THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF ZAMBIA ON 20TH FEBRUARY 2025
February 2025

Madam Speaker,
You requested Government to render a ministerial statement to this August House on the health status of the 6th Republican President of Zambia, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu and Ms. Edith Zewelani Nawakwi, President of the Forum for Democracy and Development.

Government cannot divulge and discuss the health status of any citizen because every Zambian citizen is entitled to privacy. Further, such a discussion would be against the medical practitioners’ ethics, as it borders on betraying the Doctor-Patient relationship which is sacrosanct.

Madam Speaker,
Allow me, however, to state that every Zambian is entitled to access to quality medical services as enshrined in the Zambian Constitution. I want to emphasize that matters to do with the health status of an individual are personal and confidential in nature within the laws governing Medical Practice. As such, this statement will not delve into personal information concerning the 6th President and the President of the Forum for Democracy and Development.

Madam Speaker,
I wish to state that the Government of the Republic of Zambia has been looking after the former President, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, whenever he has requested for medical intervention, both locally and abroad.
1|Page

The last appointment Government made for the former President, was for him to travel to Pretoria, South Africa on medical grounds in September 2023. He was, however, unable to travel due to personal commitments. As Government, we are committed to providing medical support to every Zambian, including all our former leaders regardless of their political affiliation.

Madam Speaker,
The House may wish to note that on 10th January 2025, Cabinet Office was informed that the former President would be travelling to the Republic of South Africa for medical attention. Upon receipt of the notification, and as per established practice and procedure, Government immediately initiated the process of having the 6th President evaluated at the Maina Soko Medical Centre for possible evacuation to the Republic of South Africa.

However, on 17th January 2025, another correspondence was received by Cabinet Office from the 6th Republican President, indicating that, the former president would meet all costs related to his travel and medical attention. The correspondence further emphasized that the earlier communication had been merely informational to the Government of the Republic of Zambia.
Madam Speaker, Government has also come to learn, with sadness that our mother, Ms. Edith Zewelani Nawakwi,
2|Page

President of the Forum for Democracy and Development Party, has not been well lately. In the same vain, Government is committed to doing everything possible to assisting the former Minister. Government is in constant contact with both the former Minister and her relatives to appreciate and/or understand what needs to be done in order to remediate the situation. We will keep the nation informed about any developments.

Madam Speaker, we ask that every Zambian wishes the 6th Republican President of Zambia, Madam Nawakwi, and many other Zambians in similar circumstances, good health.
I thank you, Madam Speaker

Economic Sabotage—an own goal in a game where other nations are strategically securing their wealth – Linda Banks

Economic Sabotage—an own goal in a game where other nations are strategically securing their wealth – Linda Banks

She wrote✍️

This decision is a betrayal of Zambia’s future. The scrapping of the 15% export duty on emùrálds and precious mínerals is nothing short of economic sabótage—an own goal in a game where other nations are strategically securing their wealth. While countries like Botswana and Burkina Faso leverage their mineral resources to build resilient economies, Zambia is throwing away its bargaining chip, all because a few well-connected elites whispered in the right ears.

Let’s not mince words: this was not a decision made in the interest of Zambians. It is well known that Kagem Mining Limited,a foreign entity has long operated with undue influence, allegedly greasing palms across the political and law enforcement spectrum to maintain its stranglehold on the emerald industry. And now, we see the result: a government bending over backward for corporate interests while leaving its people to struggle in mineral rich poverty.

Jito, I have immense respect for you and you know that. We can talk anytime, and I consider you a friend. But friendship does not mean silence in the face of national betrayal. This decision is reckless, shortsighted, and utterly lacking in a broader economic vision. No serious country caves in to corporate whining so easily. Businesses are profit driven, they will always resist taxation. That is why strong leadership is necessary, to stand firm and ensure that Zambia benefits from its resources.

Look at Botswana, where diamond taxation and strong local ownership have turned the nation into one of Africa’s most prosperous. Look at young Captain Ibrahim TraorĂ© in Burkina Faso, refusing to be bullied by foreign powers and instead ensuring that his country retains control over its natural wealth. Meanwhile, in Zambia, we act like beggars at our own table, allowing our emeralds to enrich foreign investors while our mining communities wallow in destitution.

And for what? So one man can lobby the government on behalf of a company that has already sucked millions out of our land? Victor Kalesha’s advocacy for Kagem is not just disappointing but also a slap in the face to his own Lamba people, who continue to live in conditions worse than the worst Kenyan slums. My last visit to my ancestral home was heartbreaking, no running water, impassable roads, and grinding poverty. Yet we are told to celebrate tax breaks for multinationals. Who benefits from this? Certainly not the ordinary Zambian.

The most painful part is the sheer lack of foresight. This policy was not even properly communicated to the people,it was thrown at them without context, leaving room for speculation, propaganda, and public frustration. Why wasn’t there a proper briefing, a clear explanation with figures and case studies showing how this benefits the nation? Instead, the government has handed a victory to those who thrive on misinformation and political opportunism.

President Levy Mwanawasa, in his wisdom, once said, “If we have failed to run the mines, let us leave them for our grandchildren. They can do a better job.” This government should take those words to heart. Zambia cannot afford to keep selling itself short, making rushed, poorly thought-out decisions that mortgage our future for the benefit of a few. Parliament must move to ensure that such critical policies are not made in secrecy, at the whims of individuals, without broad consultation and economic justification.

Jito, you and your colleagues in the Ministry of Finance must wake up. The President’s job is hard enough without his advisors and policymakers making it even harder. Zambia deserves better, and history will not be kind to those who sell it out.

A Nation Abandoned and The Betrayal of Zambia’s Citizens by UPND MPs.

A Nation Abandoned and The Betrayal of Zambia’s Citizens by UPND MPs.

*By Owen Chiyaya Chitapankwa III (OCC)*

Today marks a profoundly disheartening chapter in Zambia’s political history.

Honorable Mutotwe Kafwaya, the MP for Lunte, moved a motion of adjournment—a procedural mechanism intended to catalyze debate and mobilize practical solutions to the skyrocketing cost of living.

Yet, in a shocking act of political abdication, members of the ruling party, UPND, walked away from parliament, thereby collapsing the quorum and stalling any meaningful discourse on one of the nation’s most pressing crises.

The motion on the floor was not an abstract political maneuver. It was a clarion call for urgent intervention against the relentless rise in the prices of essential commodities—a burden borne most acutely by our vulnerable citizens.

With every passing day, the cost of  Meali Meal edges toward K500, a 5-liter bottle of cooking oil now sells for K300, and even 2 kg of sugar is priced at K100. These staggering figures are symptomatic of a government disconnected from the reality of its people.

Rather than addressing these escalating challenges head-on, the UPND MPs chose to abandon their legislative responsibilities. In doing so, they not only thwarted the opportunity for constructive debate but also underscored a disturbing truth: a government that prioritizes its own comfort and preservation over the welfare of its citizens is fundamentally unfit to lead.

It is unprecedented—perhaps even unparalleled in the annals of global parliamentary history—for ruling party legislators to deliberately dismantle the democratic process by undermining quorum.

Such a maneuver is not only a breach of parliamentary duty but a flagrant demonstration of political cowardice.

By walking out, these MPs have signaled that they care little for the plight of the ordinary Zambian.

Their actions suggest an allegiance not to public service but to the interests of self-enrichment and power retention.

Political analysts and governance activists alike have long warned against the perils of a government that shuns accountability and transparency.

The decision to collapse the quorum represents the ultimate betrayal—a stark confirmation that the UPND, in its current incarnation, has strayed from the noble path of public service.

Instead of engaging in a substantive discussion on the urgent measures needed to alleviate the financial burden on Zambians, these politicians have chosen to hide behind procedural technicalities and partisan gamesmanship.

The repercussions of this legislative impasse are dire and far-reaching. Unprecedented load shedding has persisted for a year, paralyzing economic activity and compounding the hardships faced by households nationwide.

This chronic energy crisis has not only sapped the productivity of our industries but has also sent shockwaves through the cost structures of everyday commodities.

With the government’s inaction exacerbating these challenges, the poor are left to grapple with an ever-deepening economic malaise.

In the face of such adversity, the citizens of Zambia have grown increasingly disillusioned. The stark reality is that while taxpayers’ money is being squandered to fatten the pockets of a privileged few, the vast majority of Zambians are forced to choose between basic necessities.

It is no wonder that an increasing number of our people are calling for a decisive change in leadership—a rejection of a system that treats the populace as collateral damage in a relentless pursuit of self-interest.

This deplorable episode must serve as a watershed moment for Zambia. The time for complacency is over. Political leaders who have betrayed the public trust through inexcusable acts of negligence and arrogance must be held accountable. As political analyst and governance activist, it is imperative to demand that those in power remember their sacred duty to serve the people. Citizens deserve not only promises but tangible actions that address the crippling cost of living and restore faith in democratic governance.

We must confront the uncomfortable truth: the UPND’s self-serving behavior is a glaring symptom of a broader malaise within our political system.

The deliberate collapse of quorum, under the guise of parliamentary procedure, reveals a leadership that is more concerned with protecting its interests than with grappling with the immediate needs of the nation.

This is not the time for political gamesmanship—it is the time for bold, decisive, and transformative action.

UKA STATEMENT ON MINISTERIAL STATEMENT ON HEALTH OF FORMER PRESIDENT

UKA STATEMENT ON MINISTERIAL STATEMENT ON HEALTH OF FORMER PRESIDENT

It appears that Deputy Speaker of National Assembly may allow a ministerial statement in the house on the health of former president Edgar Lungu. Ministerial statements are followed by questions relating to the same.

This is going to be a first in the commonwealth. Debates on the health of an individual are extremely rare and typically are with the consent of the individual. One notable example is the debate surrounding the mental health of a member of parliament in the UK which was discussed in the context of parliamentary procedure and support systems. This debate is handled discretely and cannot be found in parliamentary records.

RIGHT TO ACCESS INFORMATION IS PROVIDED FOR IN ACCESS TO INFORMATION ACT 2023

Section
6. (1) Subject to this Act and any other written law,a citizen or a residence permit holder has the right to access information held by, or under the control of, an information holder.

21. Despite section 8, an information holder shall not publish information where the information holder—
(a) is satisfied that the information or part of the information is exempted from disclosure under this Part; or

General limitation on right to access information

23. (1) Subject to subsection (2), an information holder shall not grant access to or disclose information if the disclosure of the information would involve the disclosure of confidential personal data of a third party, including a deceased person.
(2) A request may be granted or information disclosed under subsection (1) where—
(a) the third party consents to the disclosure;

27. (1) Subject to subsection (2), an information holder shall not grant a request if the information requested for is privileged under any written law.

In Zambia, the confidentiality of medical records is protected by several laws and regulations:

1. The Medical Practitioners Act, Cap 398 of the Laws of Zambia
This Act requires medical practitioners to maintain confidentiality of patient information.

2. The Nurses and Midwives Act, Cap 305 of the Laws of Zambia
This Act also emphasizes the importance of maintaining confidentiality of patient information.

3. The Health Professions Act, No. 24 of 2009
This Act regulates health professionals and requires them to maintain confidentiality of patient information.

4. The Data Protection Act, No. 3 of 2020
This Act regulates the processing of personal data, including medical records, and requires data controllers to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and security of personal data.

5. The National Health Services Act, Cap 214 of the Laws of Zambia
This Act establishes the National Health Services and requires healthcare providers to maintain confidentiality of patient information.

6. The Zambia National Health Policy (2019)
This policy emphasizes the importance of confidentiality and privacy in healthcare services.

7. The World Health Organization’s (WHO) International Code of Medical Ethics
Although not a law, this code is widely adopted and respected in Zambia, emphasizing the importance of confidentiality in medical practice.

8. The Zambia Medical Association’s (ZMA) Code of Ethics
This code also emphasizes the importance of confidentiality in medical practice.

These laws and regulations collectively provide a framework for protecting the confidentiality of medical records in Zambia.

UPND cabinet and back benchers, by introducing a ministerial statement on former President Lungu’s health, want to discuss what would clearly go against not only our laws but even international conventions that we are party to.

They would rather do this than discuss the high cost of living.
On the 19th February 2025, we saw the entire front and back benches of the UPND walk out when debate of the high cost of living was due to be heard.

It seems more important for the UPND to discuss an individual’s health than the national health crisis of all Zambians brought about by the high cost of living.

Speaker of National Assembly, Nellie Mutti, on 8th November 2022 ordered that all the opposition Members of Parliament who walked out during the Vice President’s question time would not get their sitting allowances.

Speaker Mutti ordered the clerks to take note of the MPs who had walked out of the house to ensure that they did not get their allowances.

The Speaker of the National Assembly must show consistency and order that all the cabinet ministers and members of parliament who walked out yesterday do not receive their sitting allowances.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

All MPs are equal and we do not believe some MPs are more equal than others.

Not to do so will take away from the credibility of the Speaker and the House.

UPND’s 2026 Victory Is 100% Certain

*UPND’s 2026 Victory Is 100% Certain*

*By Magret Mwanza*

The 2026 general elections will not be a contest—it will be a landslide victory for the United Party for National Development. The writing is on the wall, and even the most vocal critics of the ruling party cannot deny the reality that the opposition remains weak, disorganized, and riddled with greed.

The Zambian people, having endured the brutal economic mismanagement of the Patriotic Front regime, are in no hurry to return to their vomit.

Since taking office in 2021, President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration has embarked on an ambitious transformation agenda that has delivered tangible development across multiple sectors.

Unlike the deception and corruption that characterized previous governments, the UPND has prioritized service delivery, economic recovery, and the rule of law.

*Delivering Real Change*

Under UPND’s leadership, Zambians have seen unprecedented progress:

*Free Education:* The implementation of free education from primary to secondary level has lifted the financial burden off many struggling families, allowing thousands of children to access schooling without hindrance.

*Increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF):* With the CDF significantly expanded, local communities now have greater autonomy in addressing their developmental needs, a shift from the bureaucratic inefficiencies of past regimes.

*Employment Opportunities:* The recruitment of over 30,000 teachers and healthcare workers has not only bolstered service delivery but also reduced unemployment, demonstrating the government’s commitment to job creation.

*Economic Growth:* Unlike the reckless borrowing and mismanagement of the PF era, the UPND has secured better debt restructuring deals and increased revenue from mining, ensuring long-term economic sustainability.

*Improved Healthcare:* The sector has seen an increase in drug availability and infrastructure investment, correcting the chaotic state left by the previous administration.

These are not mere political slogans—they are verifiable achievements that resonate with the ordinary Zambian.

*The Opposition’s Self-Inflicted Collapse*

One would expect a credible opposition to present an alternative vision for the country. However, what we have instead is a confused, fractured, and self-serving political setup.

The Tonse Alliance,  which was hastily put together by opposition leaders desperate for relevance and a breakaway from UKA has proven to be nothing more than a marriage of convenience.

With no ideological cohesion, the Tonse alliance remains a ticking time bomb, plagued by internal power struggles.

At the heart of the opposition’s failure is the unchecked ambition of its leaders. Everyone wants to be president, even those who barely command a following beyond their households.

Instead of building a solid, issue-based campaign, the opposition has resorted to mudslinging, conspiracy theories, and outright fabrications, hoping that negativity alone will secure them votes. But Zambians are no longer easily deceived.

The PF, the largest opposition party, now broken into three factions, is still haunted by its past sins—massive corruption, economic collapse, and a culture of political thuggery.

Edgar Lungu’s attempt to re-enter the political scene is a desperate move by a man whose legacy is one of national betrayal. Zambians have not forgotten the suffering they endured under his leadership, and they will not allow his party to return to power.

*The Path to 2026*

The strategy for UPND’s 2026 victory is clear: continue delivering results, expose opposition incompetence, and remind Zambians of the dark days they left behind.

While critics will attempt to downplay the government’s achievements, the facts speak for themselves.

The opposition, on the other hand, has a mountain to climb. With no unified front, no clear policies, and a tainted past, they will struggle to convince the electorate that they are fit to govern.

The people of Zambia are not interested in recycled politicians who failed them before. They are looking ahead, not backwards.

*Come 2026, the choice will not be difficult. UPND’s victory will be an affirmation of progress, stability, and a brighter future for Zambia.* The opposition will only have themselves to blame for failing to offer a credible alternative.

The people have spoken before, and they will speak again—loudly and decisively.
