‘I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH’ – GUARDIOLA FACES DAUNTING AND MAJOR REBUILD

Pep Guardiola says his sleep has suffered during Manchester City’s deepening crisis, so he will not be helped by a nightmarish conclusion to one of the most stunning defeats of his long reign.

Guardiola looked agitated, animated and on edge even after City led the Manchester derby through Josko Gvardiol’s 36th-minute header, his reaction to the goal one of almost disdain that it came via a deflected cross as opposed to in his purist style.

He sat alone with his eyes closed sipping from a water bottle before the resumption of the second half, then was denied even the respite of victory when Manchester United gave this largely dismal derby a dramatic conclusion it barely deserved with a remarkable late comeback.

First, with 88 minutes on the clock, Matheus Nunes presented Amad Diallo with the ball before compounding his error by flattening the forward as he made an attempt to recover his mistake. Bruno Fernandes completed the formalities from the penalty spot.

Worse was to come two minutes later when Lisandro Martinez’s routine long ball caught City’s defence inexplicably statuesque. Goalkeeper Ederson’s positioning was awry, allowing the lively Diallo to pounce from an acute angle to leave Guardiola and his players stunned.

It was the latest into any game, 88 minutes, that reigning Premier League champions had led then lost. It was also the first time City had lost a game they were leading so late on.

And in a sign of City’s previous excellence that is now being challenged, they have only lost four of 105 Premier League home games under Guardiola in which they have been ahead at half-time, winning 94 and drawing seven.

Guardiola delivered a brutal self-analysis as he told Match of the Day: “I am not good enough. I am the boss. I am the manager. I have to find solutions and so far I haven’t. That’s the reality.

“Not much else to say. No defence. Manchester United were incredibly persistent. We have not lost eight games in two seasons. We can’t defend that.” [BBC News]

Unreleased Michael Jackson Songs Found In Abandoned Storage Unit

The only thing that comes to mind when Michael Jackson is mentioned, is the fact that he is known widely as the “King of Pop.”

With this in mind, it would be unheard of to hear that some of the works of such a legendary and iconic musical career have been discovered in the unlikeliest places.

This revelation came to light when a storage hunter, a retired 56-year-old California Highway Patrol officer, Gregg Musgrove, chanced upon something he never thought would happen when he started his “treasure hunting” journey.

Gregg certainly never imagined he’d end up with a king’s bounty; Michael Jackson himself.

These inventories include a trove of cassette and DAT tapes containing unreleased Michael Jackson tracks found in a storage unit deep in the San Fernando Valley.

Musgrove’s journey to the tapes began when an associate contacted him about a storage unit he’d recently bought in Van Nuys.

The unit once belonged to Bryan Loren, a music producer and singer.

According to Musgrove, Bryan’s whereabouts are currently unknown. Bryan Loren is also believed to have worked with Michael on his eighth studio album, (1991), and has also collaborated and written for artists such as Whitney Houston, Sting, and Barry White.

Speaking of the Hollywood Reporter, Gregg Musgrove said:

“I’ve gone to all the fan sites. Some of [the songs] are rumored to exist; some of them have been leaked a little bit.

He went on to say that:

“A couple of the tracks aren’t even out there in the world.”

The full inventory shows the collection of unreleased tracks.
Among them is a track titled “Don’t Believe It,” which seems to reference the rumors that would circulate about the pop star in the media.

Another track on the tapes is titled “Truth on Youth,” which is seemingly a rap duet between Jackson and LL Cool J.

The rapper has spoken in the past about working with Jackson, confirming they had recorded music together.

The song stands out for many reasons, but largely due to Jackson’s rapping on it.

On another tape, Jackson can be heard explaining the intended meaning of a song called “Seven Digits,” which references the identification number of bodies received in a morgue.

Alongside snippets of other unreleased songs.

Jackson, and presumably Loren, can be heard discussing the recording and creative process on the tapes.

“I’m listening to this stuff, and I would get goosebumps because nobody’s ever heard this stuff before,” Musgrove says.

“To hear Michael Jackson actually talk and kind of joke back and forth, it was really, really cool.”

It is sad to say for the fans of the King of Pop, it’s likely Gregg will be one of the few people to ever hear these tapes.

He told the outlet that he and the attorney he brought on approached the Jackson Estate with their findings earlier this year.

However, the Jackson estate, which Gregg says did their research into the tapes, declined to purchase them for reasons known to them.

But did provide him with an official letter stating that the Michael Jackson estate does not claim ownership of these specific cassettes.

They, however, made it clear in the letter, that he and anyone else who might purchase these tapes down the line do not own the copyright on the recordings or the compositions; the estate does.

This means that these tapes can never be released publicly.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, in response, the estate clarifies that these tracks are not new, as the master recordings are currently housed in the estate’s vaults.

‘Thankless job’ – Why trainee Kenyan doctors are taking their own lives

Dr Desree Moraa Obwogi’s family wants the government to take responsibility for her death
A sombre mood engulfed a village in Kenya’s Rift Valley last week as dozens of medical interns joined other mourners at the burial of their colleague who had taken his own life.

Speaker after speaker lamented the loss of Francis Njuki, a 29-year-old trainee pharmacist, whose family told the BBC about his feelings of exhaustion and frustration over the non-payment of his salary by the government since he started working as an intern in August.

He is the fifth medic to kill themselves in Kenya in the last two months because of “work-stress hardships and lack of responsive insurance cover”, according to Dr Davji Atellah, the secretary of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) – adding it was not something the union had ever recorded before.

There had also been five attempted suicides by KMPDU members this year, the medical body said.

No figures are yet available on the number of suicides nationwide in Kenya this year.

Njuki was doing his internship at a public hospital in Thika town near the capital, Nairobi, when he took his life last month.

He had reported hallucinations and depression due to sleep deprivation, his uncle Tirus Njuki told BBC.

“In his suicide note he mentioned that the four-month salary delay was among issues that aggravated his mental illness, pushing him to end his life,” the uncle added.

The first-born in his family, the intern had been battling depression and had been receiving treatment, according to a police report.

Njuki was among hundreds of interns who were posted to health facilities in August to do their mandatory one-year training to qualify.

But the interns say they had not received their salaries for the first four months, with the government citing financial constraints.

This is despite the fact that interns are a crucial part of the workforce in public hospitals – used by many Kenyans who cannot afford private medical insurance.

Trainees make up about 30% of doctors in the state health sector.

They do most of the work in public hospitals, but under close supervision. They are on call, sometimes for 36 hours, and provide most of the health services that patients need.

“Like many of his colleagues, Dr Njuki faced insurmountable challenges in meeting basic needs such as rent and utility bills,” KMPDU said in a statement.

The government has been in a long-running dispute with unions over the pay and working conditions of interns.

The government has proposed cutting the monthly salary of interns to $540 (£430).

The union wants it to remain at $1,600 as had been agreed with the government in 2017.

But President William Ruto has said that the government cannot afford to pay such an amount, and “we must live within our means”.

“We cannot continue to spend money we don’t have,” Ruto said in early April.

Following mounting pressure and strike threats, the government last month released $7.4m to pay more than 1,200 interns who had not received their salaries since August.

Some of the interns say they are being paid “peanuts”.

“After spending six to seven years of study, we had to wait for several months to get internship. And then with all the long working hours, the government decided to pay us peanuts. We are really suffering,” Dr Abdi Adow, an intern at Mbagathi hospital in Nairobi, told the BBC.

Dr Adow is among hundreds of young medics who are torn between leaving the country to seek jobs overseas or abandoning their profession for better-paid careers.

Another intern, who spoke to the BBC on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, said: “I have sworn to save life, at the very least, and restore health, at the very best, but the government is doing everything to kill my zeal and undermine my oath of service.”

Experts point to the death last month of Dr Timothy Riungu as an example of how stressful working conditions are for medics.

He was a paediatrician at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi, who collapsed and died at home after a round-the-clock shift; he had repeatedly complained of exhaustion to his supervisor that day, local media reported.

The 35-year-old was diabetic and had not taken leave for the two years, according to his family.

A post-mortem revealed Dr Riungu had died of hypoglycaemia, caused by the blood sugar level dropping below normal. It also showed he had not eaten anything for more than 48 hours prior to his death.

In May, Kenya’s government reached a deal with one medical union to end a 56-day strike, but the key issue of the salaries of interns remained unresolved.

The strike had halted operations in public hospitals, with dozens of patients reportedly losing their lives.

Several rounds of talks have collapsed over the pay and working conditions of interns.

Last week, the KMPDU ordered all intern doctors to stay home as it issued a fresh 21-day nationwide strike notice, accusing the government of reneging on the agreement reached in May.

In September, a 27-year-old medical intern at the Gatundu Level 5 Hospital in central Kiambu county took her own life.

Dr Desree Moraa Obwogi had just finished a gruelling 36-hour shift that had taken a toll on her mental-health status, according to her workmates.

They said she too struggled to pay her rent and utility bills.

Dr Muinde Nthusi, the chair of KMPDU’s Internship Liaison Committee, blamed financial hardships and a “toxic” work environment for her death.

During the burial, Obwogi’s family asked the government to take responsibility and account for the life lost, local media reported.

The other recent suicide cases noted by the KMPDU include Vincent Bosire Nyambunde, an intern at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital; Collins Kiprop Kosgei, a fifth-year medical student at the University of Nairobi and Keith Makori, a 30-year-old medic in central Kiambu county.

Young doctors have been mobilising on X under the hashtag #PayMedicalInterns to push for better pay and working conditions. They marched to the offices of the Ministry of Health last week to vent their frustrations.

“Our doctors and nurses shoulder the weight of a broken system, yet their cries are drowned by the greed of those in power,” Dr Kipkoech Cheruiyot posted on X platform.

Health officials did not respond to a BBC request for comment.

But reacting to the increasing suicide cases in September, Health Minister Deborah Barasa said it was “a stark reminder of the silent struggles that many, including those in the healthcare profession, often endure”.

The minister announced plans to introduce “robust workplace mental wellness” programmes for healthcare workers nationwide to “ensure that support systems are strengthened and that those facing challenges don’t feel alone”.

Medical experts said many young doctors also experience “moral injury”, or psychological trauma as they feel guilty for not doing enough to treat patients, even though they tried their best under difficult conditions.

“The thought that you could have done something to save a patient’s life but you couldn’t, can lead to feelings of guilt, shame, and helplessness, contributing to mental health issues,” Dr Chibanzi Mwachonda, a psychiatrist, told Kenya’s Standard newspaper.

Trainee doctors told the BBC that most medical schools do not adequately address the topic of suicide, leaving new and fatigued physicians poorly equipped to deal with traumatic ordeals – and this is compounded by poor pay.

“A healthy doctor builds a healthy nation. When I am stressed or depressed as a doctor, I might even forget how to perform resuscitation on a patient, which could lead to loss of life,” said one intern doctor.

“A demotivated doctor is a dangerous person to serve you. It’s becoming a thankless job.”

About 1,400 Kenyans die by suicide each year, according to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics. But some analysts believe that the actual numbers might be higher.

Suicide remains criminalised in Kenya, where those found guilty of attempted suicide can face up to two years imprisonment, a fine, or both.

This law has been widely criticised, with some rights groups calling for its repeal, arguing that it further stigmatises mental-health issues and prevents people from seeking help.

“How many doctors are we going to bury for the government to act?” asked Dr Adow.

Barcelona’s Yamal Out Of Action For Four Weeks

Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal has suffered an ankle injury, and he is expected to be ruled out of action for four weeks in a major blow to the club’s shaky title aspirations.

The Blaugrana suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Leganes at home on Sunday, and they also lost their key player, Yamal, who has been a shining light for the team this season.

Yamal suffered the injury in the first half of the encounter before he was hooked off in the 75th minute due to discomfort.

The club has now confirmed in a statement that the young star is expected to be out of action for four weeks, missing the title-defining clash against Atletico Madrid next week.

The statement read: “The first team player Lamine Yamal received a blow to the right ankle during the game against CD Leganés on Sunday.

“Tests carried out on Monday have revealed that the player has a grade 1 injury to a ligament in the ankle. The player is expected to be out for 3 to 4 weeks.”

Yamal’s absence is a blow to Barcelona, whose recent form has been below par after suffering their fourth loss in La Liga.

The last time he was out of action in November, Barcelona failed to win the three games he missed.

The 17-year-old has been a standout player for the Blaugrana this season with six goals and 11 assists in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick opened up on the reason behind the defeat to Leganes.

He said: “The team did not start the game focused and that led to the goal,” Sorg said at his post-match interview.

“The team have found it difficult in the league and despite having chances we failed to take the win.

“Defeats like today are hard to take but it’s all part of the process and we have to work hard so things turn out as we want them.”

Up next for Barcelona is a clash against Atletico Madrid at home on Saturday.

The Blaugrana are currently on top of the log with 38 points from 18 games.

At least nine killed in drone attack on hospital in Sudan’s Darfur

0

At least nine people have been killed and 20 others injured following a drone strike that hit a hospital in the city of el-Fasher in Sudan’s northern Darfur region.

The Federal Ministry of Health blamed the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for the attack, which took place on Friday. Officials say the group fired four rocket-propelled grenades towards the city’s main healthcare facility.

A resistance committee in el-Fasher, involved in relief efforts, said the attack targeted the Saudi hospital, forcing it to suspend medical services. It was the last remaining open hospital in the city.

The Sudanese army and RSF have been fighting in el-Fasher since May 10. The city has been a hub for humanitarian efforts in Darfur by the United Nations and other international aid agencies.

Waves Of Conflict

Friday’s strike was the latest in a wave of devastating attacks in the region this week.

On Monday, more than 100 people – including women and children – were killed in an air strike on an open-air market in Kabkabiya, a town in northern Darfur, about 180km (111 miles) from el-Fasher, according to the rights group Emergency Lawyers.

Human rights groups condemned the Sudanese army for the attack.

“Bombing a market full of civilians is one of the clearest examples of a war crime that exists,” said Tigere Chagutah, Amnesty International regional director for East and Southern Africa.

On Tuesday, the RSF also shelled the Zamzam displacement camp in North Darfur.

The attack killed five people, according to the civil society group Darfur General Coordination of Camps for the Displaced and Refugees.

The mounting civilian casualties come amid continuing clashes across the country between the Sudanese army and RSF.

On Tuesday, the RSF targeted an army-controlled area within the city of Omdurman in Khartoum – Sudan’s second-most populous city – with heavy artillery fire.

State-aligned Khartoum Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza said the attack killed at least 65 people.

More than 16,000 people have been killed since the conflict began, with another 10 million displaced and 25 million in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the UN.

M.I.A. Reveals First Thing Jay-Z Asked Her To Do After Signing To Roc Nation

Artiste M.I.A., born Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam, recently took to Instagram Live to make some revelations.

She discussed the dissolution of her once-promising musical career and named a few famous people who contributed to her downfall.

In her IG discussion, one noteworthy name the Paper Planes rapper called out was Jay-Z, claiming she refused to fulfill his sexist request upon signing to his label.

According to M.I.A., Jay-Z asked her to go under the knife to drastically change her appearance after she signed to his label, Roc Nation, in 2012.

In that short clip, which various Instagram accounts have posted, M.I.A. said:

“The first thing [Jay-Z] asked me to do was get plastic surgery.”

She also expressed her suspicion that people in the music industry may watch her Instagram Live and say that she’s merely “insecure” about her music career dying down and she’s only calling people out now to “massage her ego.”

“I’m not insecure because I would have gotten plastic surgery. So their argument of ‘Maya’s fucking insecure; that’s why she needs to fucking massage her ego’ fails. It fails because you turn around and ask; What women do you know who haven’t had plastic surgery around [Jay-Z]? All of them have. I’m the only one who didn’t, which already proves the fact it’s not insecurity.”

Even though M.I.A. didn’t specify which procedure Jay-Z asked her to do, in her full-length Instagram Live video, she listed a few procedures people in the music industry have suggested she get done.

“I’m not going to bleach my skin, no I’m not going to get a fucking nose job, no I’m not going to get fucking filler,” the Grammy-nominated musician said 54 minutes into the video.

“Because I’m 100% content, happy, and at peace with exactly how God designed it. That’s why.”

Elsewhere in the video, M.I.A. does say that musician Azealia Banks was the one who suggested she bleach her skin to be “accepted in the music world” because she’s too “dark-skinned.”

Both Roc Nation and Jay-Z have yet to comment, and it sure doesn’t seem to be anytime soon.

What makes this ironic is that just last week Roc Nation started a true crime podcast and just last week, in an amended lawsuit from October, the plaintiff, who filed as “Jane Doe,” revised a lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs to include Jay-Z accusing him of raping her at the age of 13.

In the suit, the then 13-year-old alleges that during a 2000 house party after the MTV Video Music Awards, Jay-Z and Diddy drugged her and took turns raping her while an unnamed female celebrity watched.

West African military states promise visa-free travel to rival bloc

0

Three West African states ruled by military leaders have announced visa-free travel and residency rights for citizens in the 15-member regional bloc Ecowas, ahead of the trio leaving the group.

The leaders of the states – Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger – said the visa and residency decision had been taken in the spirit of friendship, and to strengthen centuries-old ties among African people.

The trio plan to withdraw from Ecowas in January after refusing the bloc’s demand to restore democratic rule.

Ecowas leaders meeting in Nigeria on Sunday said they respected the decision to withdraw but offered a six-month grace period for them to reconsider.

The three Sahel countries can be readmitted to the bloc should they decide to rejoin the community, a communique from Ecowas noted.

During the transitional period between 29 January and 29 July, 2025, negotiations led by Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Togo’s Faure Gnassingbé will continue.

So far the military juntas have refused to remain in the bloc despite efforts to persuade them.

After a ministerial-level meeting on Friday in Niger’s capital, Niamey, the three states said in a joint statement that their decision was “irreversible”.

There are fears their withdrawal would be a major blow to regional unity and efforts to boost economic and security cooperation.

At the opening of the summit, Ecowas commission head Omar Touray said their “impending exit” was “disheartening”, but he wanted to “commend the ongoing mediation efforts”, AFP news agency reported.

Ecowas countries have not yet made any decisions on whether they would allow citizens of the three Sahel states to live and work within the bloc.

In the meantime, the Ecowas Commission in Abuja has been mandated to work out the modalities for future relations between the two blocs.

Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger were founding members of Ecowas in 1975.

With their planned departure, the bloc will lose 76 million of its 446 million people and more than half its total geographical land area.

This is the first split in Ecowas, with the three breakaway states forming their own bloc, the Alliance of Sahel States.

In a statement, the new alliance’s chairman, Mali’s military ruler Assimi Goïta said the right of Ecowas citizens to “enter, circulate, reside, establish and leave the territory” of the new bloc would be maintained.

His statement was seen as a signal to Ecowas leaders that Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger wanted to maintain good relations, despite quitting the bloc.

The three states gave notice to Ecowas in January 2023 that they would withdraw in a year, meeting the timeline set by the bloc for states that decide to leave.

Relations between the bloc and the three countries have been tense after military coups took place in Niger in July, Burkina Faso in 2022 and Mali in 2020.

Ecowas condemned the coups, and suspended their membership, hoping they will restore civilian rule.

But the coup leaders dug in their heels, and have pivoted towards Russia.

They accuse Ecowas of being too close to Western powers, and are increasingly relying on Russia to fight armed jihadists who are waging an insurgency in the region.

BBC accused of plot to destabilise Niger

0

NIGER has suspended the operations of the British media company, BBC, owing to the suspicion that the company is trying to disrupt the country’s peace.

Niger’s government has suspended the UK-based broadcasting network, BBC, for three months, over its reporting of a terrorist attack that allegedly killed dozens of its soldiers and civilians.

“BBC broadcasts false information aimed at destabilizing social calm and undermining the troops’ morale,” said Raliou Sidi Mohamed, Niger’s communications minister.

His statement was aimed at local radio stations that rebroadcast BBC content. He instructed that they cut off all content that traces back to BBC.

The British network on Wednesday reported that jihadists massacred 90 troops and up to 40 people in Chatoumane, located in the western Tera area bordering Burkina Faso and overflowing with armed rebels.

However, Niger, on the same day, denied the details of the report, calling the allegations of the massacre “baseless assertions” and a “campaign of intoxication,” as seen on AP News.

This is hardly the first time Niger has had a running-in with foreign media.

Niger vs western influence

In September, Wassim Nasr, a France 24 journalist was served a lawsuit by the Alliance of the Sahel States (AES), which consists of Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso.

They alleged that the journalist was culpable for instigating acts of terrorism by contacting terrorists who are currently causing severe insecurity problems in the West African sub-region.

These decisons to sanction Western media align with the AES’s new political stance to expel as much Western influence as possible.

The nations that make up the AES in recent years have all been switched to military rule, after successful coups.

For Niger, a group of soldiers from the presidential guard announced the ousting of Bazoum, on the the 26th of July 2023.

The country has since been governed by the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland, which is being commanded by the guard’s commander, Abdourahamane Tiani.

However, on the 10th of August, Tiani issued an order establishing a transitional administration.

Additionally, Niger, alongside fellow AES countries, opted to form their regional coalition outside of ECOWAS, despite being a part of West Africa.

They did this noting that ECOWAS still had a strong affiliation with the West, which is counterproductive to what they are trying to achieve.

Why is President Hichilema allowing these individuals to violate the Constitution and desecrate public service guidelines- Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

Destroying the Public Service
..Why is President Hichilema allowing these individuals to violate the Constitution and desecrate public service guidelines…
Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba wrote;

A new crop of UPND cadres in the public service won’t even bother to pretend to be civil servants, professional or act non-partisan.
Leading the troupe is Permanent Secretary for Information and Media, Mr. Thabo Kawana, who has publicly and repeatedly stated that he engages in politics, spurs with politicians and issues political rhetoric because he is a party cadre.
He says he is from the UPND Alliance and will not therefore bother to abide by civil service regulations.
He emphasises that will not have a job without President Hakainde Hichilema.

He forgets as a Permanent Secretary, he has a Minister whose job it is too legitimately engage in political matters and handle such political work.

He also forgets that every time he talks, he exposes how harpless his boss, Patrick Kangwa, Secretary to Cabinet is, who is his supervisor and whose duty it is to ensure and build, a public service that is professional, ethical and non-partisan.

Now Permanent Secretary for Special Duties at Cabinet Office, Naomi Tukiya Tetamashimba says she is an unapologetic “UPND civil servant” and is openly campaigning and coordinating logistics for the Kawambwa parliamentary by-election.
Another one who comes to mind is the new Lusaka High Court Judge, who is a previously known UPND cadre, Situmbeko Chocho, but has shamelessly continued to do the bidding of her Party in her sacred work of a Judge.

Currently, stakeholders are contending with Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chairperson and Commissioner, Mwangala Zaloumis and Mcdonald Chipenzi.

Recently,Joseph Akafumba, former NDC Vice President, but now Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, rallied his colleagues that they should respond enmass to attacks issued against President Hichilema by former President Edgar Lungu or opposition leaders.

The trouble is not with these partisan elements soiling the public service and subsequently obtaining illegitimate pay, allowances, and deriving fringe benefits from the public purse.

The trouble is with President Hichilema who has allowed the desecration of the public service to continue.
He had pledged that he would build an independent and professional public service.
He is expected to promote a professional and non-partisan public service.

When he came into office in 2021, he did the Opposite, he actually purged civil servants and public officials who he fired, dismissed, retired in-national-interest or victimized on mere allegations that they allegedly belonged to the Patriotic Front.
He also set up a commission to reinstate and reintegrate those public officials who he said, could have been dismissed because they were members of the UPND or were victimised because they came from a certain region.

But currently it’s a serious offence warranting immediate removal or dismissal, if you are suspected to be a member or sympathizer of the Patriotic Front or the Opposition.

For example, President Hichilema retired in purported national interest 38 senior police officers, in one swoop, at the Zambia Police.
Currently over 430 directors and senior civil servants are parked at the Public Service Management Division (PSMD) and Cabinet Office on false allegations that they are/were sympathetic to the former ruling party.

Each Minister, Permanent Secretary or head of department, Commissioner or Board, has proceeded to remove those senior civil servants they found and replaced them with those they feel are UPND first, as priority criteria.
The purge, removal and harrasment of civil servants has been so wanton that the Public Protector investigated this regional, tribal and partisan purge.

Sadly she has grown cold feet and has failed to release the findings and her own Report.
The Public Protector, Caroline Sokoni won’t even bother to emulate the former Public Protector of South Africa,Thuli Madonsela, whose fearless work inspired Zambia to set up a similar constitutional office to hold power to account.

Madonsela investigated corruption at State House and authored the report into “State Capture”, that exposed nefarious and corrupt influence of the Gupta Brothers on the Presidency of South Africa.

President Hichilema swore to respect, uphold and promote the values of the Constitution.
He cannot allow zealous party cadres to desecrate with contempt, the Constitution and values of the public service.
This set of values as outlined in the Zambian Public Service Code of Ethics, define and guides the conduct of government officials.
These include impartiality, integrity, honesty, objectivity, loyalty, respect, accountability, excellence, confidentiality, and selflessness; essentially emphasizing ethical conduct, transparency, and commitment to serving the public good without personal gain.

Probably, Josephs Akafumba, Thabo Kawana and Naomi Tetamashimba have put this document in their dustbins next to their plush offices.

An Open Letter to Mr. Cornelius Mweetwa – Government spokesperson- Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

An Open Letter to Mr. Cornelius Mweetwa – Government spokesperson
No Lives Are Being Uplifted: The Reality Under the UPND Government

Dear Mr. Cornelius Mweetwa,
I write this letter with a sense of outrage and disbelief at the audacity of the statement you made, claiming that Zambia is the best in Africa at uplifting people’s lives. This assertion is not only detached from reality but also an insult to the millions of Zambians who wake up every day facing unimaginable struggles just to survive. With our economy in ruins, poverty spreading like wildfire, essential services collapsing, and businesses suffering from prolonged blackouts, I must ask you point-blank: On what basis do you make such a claim? Which people’s lives is the UPND government truly uplifting?

The Economic Crisis Zambians Are Enduring

Mr. Mweetwa, do you even see the economic devastation unfolding across Zambia? Inflation has obliterated the purchasing power of our citizens, forcing families to make heartbreaking choices between food, rent, and essential utilities. Food prices have surged to absurd levels, and the falling value of the Kwacha against major currencies has only worsened the economic burden on households. How can a nation claim to uplift lives when its citizens are forced to decide whether to have dinner or pay for transportation?
Unemployment is not just a problem—it is a full-blown crisis. The promises you and your party made during the 2021 election about creating jobs and boosting economic opportunities remain unfulfilled. Young graduates, skilled professionals, and hardworking individuals are left jobless and disillusioned, with no real opportunities in sight. Instead of progress and prosperity, we see frustration, hopelessness, and disillusionment growing among Zambia’s youth. Is this the life you refer to as being uplifted?

The Brutal Reality of Poverty and Social Inequality

Your claim completely disregards the grim reality of widespread poverty that continues to plague Zambia. Many families live in abject poverty, relying on community support, handouts, and sporadic charity just to make it through the day.

Healthcare services are in disarray, with hospitals and clinics often lacking even the most basic essentials—medicine, staff, and infrastructure. Education is no better, with schools suffering from dilapidated infrastructure, a severe shortage of qualified teachers, and inadequate learning materials. Social aid initiatives remain ineffective, often providing nothing more than superficial band-aids that fail to address the systemic issues that keep Zambia in a cycle of poverty. Is this your vision of uplifting lives?
A Hard-Hitting Question: Whose Lives Are Really Being Uplifted?

If your statement were even remotely accurate, we would witness significant improvements in areas that matter most to the lives of everyday Zambians: job opportunities, quality education, accessible healthcare, and thriving small businesses. We would see communities with trade infrastructure that boosts production and commerce, young people securing real careers, and families experiencing economic stability. Yet, none of these outcomes are visible.

Instead, we see social and economic disparities widening. Wealth remains concentrated in the hands of a privileged few—government officials, party insiders, and their allies—while the majority of Zambians struggle with job insecurity, poor living conditions, and economic instability. How can a government claim to uplift lives when most citizens remain trapped in poverty and a select few continue to benefit at their expense?

Furthermore, we are experiencing abnormal hours of load-shedding, a situation that has decimated businesses across the nation. Many industries, shops, and offices have had to shut down entirely due to an unreliable electricity supply, leading to job losses, reduced productivity, and long-term economic setbacks. How can a government claim to uplift lives when businesses are forced to close their doors, and livelihoods are being destroyed by infrastructure failures?

A Demand for Accountability and Real Leadership

Mr. Mweetwa, Zambians deserve a government that speaks truthfully about our challenges and progress. Admitting the difficulties our nation faces is not a sign of weakness—it is a sign of maturity, integrity, and responsibility. You and the UPND leadership must come forward and provide concrete evidence of real progress and tangible solutions, not just hollow claims.

It is time to stop making empty promises and start addressing the real issues that affect millions of Zambians. We need real initiatives that focus on job creation, support for local industries, investments in agriculture, meaningful education reform, and healthcare infrastructure that actually serves communities rather than just political rhetoric.

We also need urgent action to resolve the ongoing power supply crisis that continues to hinder businesses and disrupt lives. A reliable electricity supply is fundamental to economic growth and social stability. Investing in energy infrastructure and ensuring a consistent supply would demonstrate a commitment to supporting our workforce, entrepreneurs, and communities.

Conclusion

Mr. Mweetwa, I ask you directly: Which lives is the UPND government uplifting? Is it the hardworking farmer in rural communities who sees no support, the young graduate in urban centers struggling to find work, or the business owner whose enterprise was shut down by prolonged blackouts? If you genuinely believe in uplifting lives, then show us actions and results that speak louder than your words.
Zambians deserve a government that prioritizes the needs of its people, creates sustainable economic opportunities, and commits to transparency, accountability, and inclusive development. It’s time to stop the rhetoric and start delivering real solutions. Only then will your claims be more than empty statements and instead reflect the true progress and upliftment that every Zambian truly deserves.
Sincerely,
Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

PF SG REPRESENTS ECL AT JACOB ZUMA’S PARTY FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY

“PF SG REPRESENTS ECL AT UMKHONTO WESIZWE FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY.”
I have been privileged to come and deliver a message of solidarity and congratulations to President Jacob Zuma and the UMKHONTO WESIZWE-MK Party on behalf of his brother PF President Dr Edgar Chagwa LUNGU and the Patriotic Front on the 1st Anniversary celebrations of the MK Party taking place today at Moses Mabida Stadium in Durban in South Africa this Afternoon.

We are amazed and take cognizance for the progress and impact the party has made in a short period of its since its birth. It’s baby that within a few weeks and months has learnt to crawl, walk and run. Even outrunning organizations that have existed for decades.

Changing the political dynamics of South Africa and setting a tone of a second wave the liberation struggle against those who have chosen to sell out and turned themselves into puppets of the oppressors. And those who have continued to loot the natural resources of the continent.

Aluta Cntinua the revolutionary movement for the second emancipation of the continent from economic saboteurs, until the African child is fully liberated economically, politically and spiritually.

Indeed we have witnessed that the people’s will and struggle doesn’t require years to achieve results, and there are many lessons and insights we have picked from our interactions with President Zuma.

CF SCHOOLS GOVERNMENT ON MWEETWA ATTACK ON PRESIDENT HARRY KALABA

CF SCHOOLS GOVERNMENT ON MWEETWA UNPROFESSIONAL ATTACK ON PRESIDENT HARRY KALABA

The Citizens First Party (CF) has noted with grave concern the disparaging remarks made by United Party for National Development (UPND) Spokesperson, Mr. Cornelius Mweetwa, against our party President, Dr. Harry Kalaba.

Such language, unbecoming of a government official, reflects poorly on the leadership entrusted with safeguarding Zambia’s unity and dignity.

The Citizens First Party unequivocally condemns the use of intimidating and disrespectful language against our President.

As a leader advocating for the well-being of all Zambians, Dr. Kalaba has raised legitimate concerns about the prevailing economic hardships, the diminishing availability of business opportunities, and the growing discontent among citizens.

His statements are grounded in the lived realities of the Zambian people, whom this government has seemingly chosen to ignore.

As a responsible opposition party, CF is duty-bound to hold the government accountable on behalf of Zambians who continue to endure broken promises, escalating poverty, and worsening socio-economic conditions. Instead of addressing these valid issues, Mr. Mweetwa has resorted to unwarranted personal attacks, a tactic that underscores the lack of substantive responses from the UPND government.

While CF refuses to descend to the level of such unprofessional conduct, we urge Mr. Mweetwa to focus on fulfilling the many unkept promises his government made to the people of Zambia.

The challenges of agriculture, mining, industrialization, and the revival of local manufacturing are far more pressing than political mudslinging.

The Citizens First Party stands resolute in its commitment to the Zambian people and to ensuring that their voices are heard. We remain steadfast behind Dr. Harry Kalaba, who has been endorsed as our presidential candidate for the 2026 elections. His vision for a united, inclusive, and economically vibrant Zambia continues to inspire hope in citizens who feel abandoned by the current administration.

To the UPND government, we say this: Zambia deserves better. The citizens of this great nation expect decorum, responsibility, and tangible solutions to their everyday struggles. Citizens First will not waver in its pursuit of a government that truly puts Zambians first.

ZAMBIA’S SME SECTOR TO BENEFIT FROM BENCHMARKING VISIT TO SOUTH AFRICA

ZAMBIA’S SME SECTOR TO BENEFIT FROM BENCHMARKING VISIT TO SOUTH AFRICA
Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Permanent Secretary Subeta Mutelo says the three-day benchmarking working visit to South Africa will go a long way in reshaping the growth of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Zambia.
Speaking in Pretoria today after the benchmarking exercise, which included an engagement with the Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition (DTIC) of South Africa, Ms. Mutelo says the success stories of locally-owned companies in South Africa provided valuable lessons on how best the Zambian Government can help its SME sector grow.

She says Zambia has made significant progress in producing some of the most innovative and successful entrepreneurs and that such engagements are vital for continued expansion by incorporating best practices prevailing in the region aimed at providing a conducive environment for doing business.

She says that the benchmarking visit to South Africa followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development and Tusumupule Impact Accelerator in October this year.
She says the MoU is for the implementation of the Support Effort Recognition Matrix (STERM) aimed at recognising the support provided to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives by both public and private stakeholders.

She says the benchmarking visit to South Africa was initiated because DTIC has been implementing similar initiatives and that the two countries have since agreed to share expertise and technical knowledge as well as exchange implementation initiatives to support SMEs.
She said SMEs are key to the growth of the country by helping young people grow their businesses, adding that President Hakainde Hichilema emphasises the need to promote small and medium enterprise, creating job opportunities, and establishing linkages.
“The Government has placed a high premium on ensuring a conducive business environment as it is key to the economic growth of the country by helping emerging entrepreneurs to thrive and grow their businesses and contribute to job creation,” Ms Mutelo said.
Acting Zambia High Commissioner to South Africa, Ms. Inonge Mwenya, says SMEs play a crucial role in the economic development of the country as they are significant contributors to employment through job creation for a large portion of the population, thereby reducing unemployment, particularly in rural and peri-urban areas.

Ms Mwenya notes that while Zambia’s economy has historically been reliant on copper mining, the SMEs have significantly contributed to economic diversification by developing various sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, trade, and services, which can reduce vulnerability to fluctuations in commodity prices.

“SMEs foster innovation and entrepreneurship, driving economic growth. They often introduce new products and services, improve processes, and create competition, which can lead to better quality goods and services in the market.
“SMEs tend to reinvest their profits back into the local economy, which stimulates economic activity in Zambia. Further, our SMEs source materials and services locally thereby supporting other businesses and contributing to community development. This is why they are key,” Ms Mwenya said.

TANZANIAN TRUCK DRIVERS PLAN PROTEST OVER COLLEAGUE’S ALLEGED MURDER IN NAKONDE, ZAMBIA

TANZANIAN TRUCK DRIVERS PLAN PROTEST OVER COLLEAGUE’S ALLEGED MURDER IN NAKONDE, ZAMBIA
Tanzanian truck drivers are reportedly planning a protest in Tunduma following the alleged murder of their colleague identified as Benjamin Moyovere, 28, in Nakonde, Zambia.

Moyovere reportedly died after being hit on the head with a stone while trying to stop thieves from stealing his truck’s cargo.
He is said to have been driving his truck, laden with copper cathodes, from Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of Congo, to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

He arrived in Nakonde around 23:00 hours on Thursday, his friend Simon Edgar, who travelled with him told Chete FM News on Friday afternoon.

He stopped his truck near the Nakonde main bus station, waiting to be cleared at customs, when he noticed two people trying to steal his tent, which covered the copper cathodes.

Confronting them led to one of the individuals hitting him on the head with a stone, causing a deep cut.
The matter was reported to Nakonde Police, Unfortunately, few hours later, he died at Nakonde Urban Clinic.
Chete FM News contacted police on Friday, they are yet to comment on the matter.

According to a poster shared on various social media platforms, believed to have been circulated by their association, all truck drivers are called to gather in Tunduma for a protest.

They are demanding to be addressed by their Tanzanian Government regarding the deaths of their two colleagues and are seeking guarantees for their safety from the Zambian Police.

The drivers have threatened to halt all truck movements until their demands are met and have vowed not to transit into Zambia until their safety is assured.

Nakonde District Commissioner Marvelous Sikapizye has acknowledged receiving a report about the incident.
However, efforts to get a comment from the association in Tanzania by Chete FM News have been unsuccessful so far.
There is a concerning trend in Nakonde of thieves targeting trucks waiting for customs clearance. Recently, Chete FM News posted a video of suspected thieves, caught on camera stealing from a truck in the queue.
Another truck was stolen from, but the thieves dropped the tent and fled after being chased.

From Black Love To Breakup: Remy Ma And Papoose’s Relationship Timeline

Remy Ma and Papoose have long been celebrated as one of Hip-Hop’s most iconic couples. Their love story, filled with admirable loyalty and resilience, captivated fans as they navigated highs and personal struggles together. From holding it down as Remy sat behind bars to exchanging vows and reality TV stardom—their bond became a symbol of “Black love.”

However, over the years Remy and Papoose have shown that they’re not perfect as rumors of infidelity and public disputes have overshadowed their once-inspiring relationship. The couple’s journey began in 2004 when they met and the relationship deepened in 2008 when Remy Ma was sentenced to six years in prison for assault.

Papoose’s unwavering support during her incarceration, including their over-the-phone wedding that same year, solidified his reputation as a devoted partner. Fans admired his unshakable loyalty, with many hailing him as the “standard” of what a husband should be.

After Remy’s release in 2014, the couple quickly re-established themselves as a power duo, balancing their music careers and own endeavors. Their time on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York further highlighted their relationship, showcasing the dynamics of their family and their bond. In 2016, the couple renewed their vows on TV and two years later, gave birth of their first child together, a daughter named Reminisce Mackenzie.

However, cracks in their marriage seemingly began in 2022, when rumors of Remy dating battle rapper Eazy The Block Captain surfaced. The entire debacle reportedly led to a rift between Papoose and Eazy that got physical, according to Pap. Speculation intensified as Remy started using her maiden name and was frequently seen with Eazy on different occasions.

Now, the situation has escalated as both Pap and Remy have accused each other of infidelity. Remy exposed Papoose for dating world champion boxer Claressa Shields, to which Papoose claimed to have requested a divorce multiple times. These events turned their private struggles into a public spectacle, with many fans heartbroken at the possible end of Remy and Papoose’s run.

As fans await clarity on the couple’s future, let us take a journey down memory lane of Remy Ma and Papoose’s relationship timeline.

2004

Remy Ma and Papoose meet through DJ Kay Slay in NYC, who tells him that Remy wants to do a song with him—but also warns him that Remy “likes him” but she’s “crazy.” They eventually collaborate on a song and immediately “click” as they build their friendship up.

According to Remy, before they officially got in the studio, she almost got him kicked out of a club while trying to check him out with a security guard’s flashlight. No hard feelings—the two would become inseparable, hanging out in the studio all the time, sitting in the car talking until morning and eventually entering a romantic relationship.

2008

Their relationship solidifies when Remy Ma is sentenced to six years in prison for shooting a former friend of hers. Despite her incarceration, Papoose remains devoted and loyal to her—visiting her regularly and supporting her through the ordeal.

In May of the same year, the couple got married over the phone while Remy was incarcerated. Despite the circumstances, Remy and Pap committed to one another.

2014

Remy Ma is released from prison and resumes her music career with Papoose by her side. The couple joins VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York.

The show offered Remy Ma a chance to reignite her music career while highlighting the resilience of her marriage with Papoose. Their journey struck a chord with viewers, inspiring other couples navigating similar struggles.

Before long, they became emblematic of “Black Love,” with Papoose proudly sporting apparel to promote the message. He also used his platform on the show to encourage other men to build and sustain healthy relationships with their partners.

2015
In December, the couple renewed their vows with a lavish wedding filmed for a VH1 special. Remy Ma and Papoose marked their love with a grand, televised ceremony, surrounded by friends, family, and Hip-Hop peers.

Remy described it as “the best day of my life,” a sentiment clearly reflective of the couple finally having the wedding of their dreams. It was a such contrast to their initial over-the-phone vows.

2018

The couple welcomes their first child together, a daughter named Reminisce Mackenzie who they affectionally call “The Golden Child.” The special moment arrived after Remy experienced a previous pregnancy complication.

“When I tell you she makes everything so peaceful, like, we don’t want to disagree on anything. We’re like alright, fine, whatever,” Remy Ma said at the time. “Everything is just so calm. She really completed the whole circle.” Remy also shared how Reminisce was conceived after trying IVF. “My husband calls the baby the Golden Child [because] it was a miracle. So many people were saying it might not work. We sacrificed a lot with no guarantees.”

2023

Rumors of trouble in paradise surfaced when Remy was linked to battle rapper Eazy The Block Captain. Speculation grew after Papoose reportedly got into a physical altercation with Eazy at a Chrome23 rap battle rap event for “getting too close” to Remy.

However, Remy denied the fight took place in a post on X. “I’d like to apologize to everyone that was disappointed tonight because we couldn’t get 3 full rounds from all the opponents,” she wrote at the time. “I tried …and can y’all pleasee STOP with the Eazy & Pap LIES There’s NO place like Chrome! Right back at it ; see y’all in August. #Chrome23.”

The couple then sparked breakup rumors when fans noticed Remy and Eazy at an Eagles-Cowboys football game in November and elsewhere. Also, she hadn’t shared a post of her with her husband since his birthday in March of 2022.

2024
The breakup rumors take a dramatic turn as alleged infidelity and more hit social media from the couple’s mouths. Remy Ma exposed Papoose of dating boxing champ Claressa Shields, and Pap shared that he requested a divorce from Remy “numerous times.”

After a fiery online exchange between Remy and Shields—who challenged Remy to a boxing match—Papoose followed up by claiming that his estranged wife is now “mad” that he moved on. Pap also dubbed her a “narcissist” and even doubled down on knocking out the battle rapper over “shaking his hand” then “sleeping with his wife.”

Shields fired at Remy, saying: “How a woman with 2 boyfriends mad at a man that has a girlfriend? @remyma if I ain’t the only one, why the hell you tagging me?” In response, Remy clarified that she’s a “one boyfriend woman” like she was a “one husband woman.”

US govt in ‘direct contact’ with victorious Syria rebels

0

The US has made “direct contact” with the HTS rebels who now control Syria after toppling the Assad regime, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said.

It is the first acknowledgement of direct US interaction with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which the US currently still designates as a terrorist organisation.

Blinken said the US has been in contact in particular over the fate of the missing American journalist, Austin Tice.

He was speaking in Jordan after talks with representatives from several Arab countries, Turkey, and Europe to discuss the future of Syria.

Officials agreed to support a peaceful transition process in the country, with Jordan’s foreign minister saying that regional powers did not want to see it “descend into chaos”.

A joint communique called for an inclusive Syrian government that respects the rights of minorities and does not offer a base for “terrorist groups”.

The talk both inside and outside Syria after the tumultuous events of recent weeks has been of the vital importance of setting up new governance that represents all Syrians. HTS was not present at the meeting in Jordan.

At the meeting, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein expressed concern over Syria’s future shared across the Middle East and beyond.

He said super powers in the region did not want to see another Libya – referring to the chaos that ensued after Colonel Gaddafi’s removal from power.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said existing Syrian institutions must be preserved and reformed.

“Never allow terrorism to take advantage of the transition period. And we have to coordinate our efforts and learn from the mistakes of the past,” Fidan said according to Reuters news agency.

HTS, Syria’s most powerful rebel group, was set up under a different name, Jabhat al-Nusra, in 2011 as a direct al-Qaeda affiliate. It was considered to be one of the most effective and deadly groups opposing President Assad.

It was proscribed as a terrorist group by the UN, the US, Turkey, and other countries – and currently remains so.

Its leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, who previously used the name Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, cut ties with al-Qaeda in 2016. He has recently pledged tolerance for different religious groups and communities.

Assad’s downfall followed a 13-year civil war, which started after he crushed pro-democracy protests. The fighting killed more than half a million people, displaced millions more, and embroiled international powers and their proxies.

Jamie Foxx is recovering after an incident at a restaurant during his birthday dinner

Hollywood actor, comedian and singer, Jamie Foxx is recovering after an incident at a restaurant during his birthday dinner on Friday, December 13, left him with injuries.

The Beverly Hills Police Department said it responded to “a reported possible assault with a deadly weapon at Mr. Chow restaurant, located at 344 N. Camden Drive.” The incident happened just after 10 p.m., police said, though the department does not mention Foxx by name.

“Upon investigation, officers determined that the reported assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded,” BHPD said. “Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties. The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No arrests were made.”

A spokesperson for Foxx said;

“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” “He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”

The incident comes days after Foxx detailed the struggles he had with his health last year in a Netflix special titled: “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was.”

In the Netflix special released Tuesday this week, Foxx said he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke during a medical emergency he faced last year.

“It is a mystery,” the Oscar-winning actor said in the Netflix special. “We still don’t know exactly what happened to me.”

“April 11, I was having a bad headache and I asked my boy for an aspirin. And I realized quickly that when you’re in a medical emergency, your boys don’t know what the f**k to do,” he said on Netflix.

“Before I could get the aspirin I went out,” he said. “I don’t remember 20 days.”

Foxx thanked his sister, who he said was “4 foot 11 of nothing but pure love,” for driving him around Atlanta to find a hospital.

He said they arrived at Piedmont Hospital, where a doctor told them Foxx was having a brain bleed that had led to a stroke and that he would die without an operation, the actor says on the Netflix special.

After the operation, doctors said Foxx might make a full recovery, “but it’s going to be the worst year of his life,” Foxx said on Netflix.

SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY FELIX NKULUKUSA AND PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA ARE LYING: $80 MILLION WAS NOT ERRONEOUSLY PAID TO CHINA*- Kasonde Mwenda C -EFF

PRESS STATEMENT

*SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY FELIX NKULUKUSA AND PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA ARE LYING: $80 MILLION WAS NOT ERRONEOUSLY PAID TO CHINA*- Kasonde Mwenda C -EFF President

14th December 2024.

As the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), and on behalf of the Zambian citizens, we categorically reject and expose the lies perpetuated by the UPND government, claiming that a colossal $80 million debt payment to China was made in error. This blatant misinformation tarnishes the image of Zambia and demonstrates an alarming lack of accountability, transparency, and seriousness on the part of this government.

It is inconceivable that such an error could occur, even in the most disorganized or incompetent administration. This fabricated narrative is an insult to the intelligence of the Zambian people and a desperate attempt to conceal the truth: this payment is legitimate and directly undermines the UPND’s false claims of having successfully restructured Zambia’s debt.

The UPND government, led by President Hakainde Hichilema, has built its narrative on lies. First, they claimed to have achieved a “debt restructuring miracle.” Now, when exposed for making a debt payment they swore had been resolved, they attempt to cover it up with another lie, falsely labeling it as an erroneous transfer.

*Why This Error Claim is a Lie*
Unless this payment resulted from deliberate corruption at the highest level, it is virtually impossible for an $80 million international transfer to occur as an error. Let us explain why:

1. *Rigorous Approval Processes*

Such payments require multiple layers of approval within the Treasury, Bank of Zambia, and the Ministry of Finance, often reaching the President.
Documentation, including agreements and invoices, must accompany such payments, ensuring that the transaction aligns with proper procedures.

2. *Sophisticated Systems and Oversight*

Zambia’s financial systems are designed to prevent such errors. Automated checks and multi-level verifications make it impossible for such a large payment to “slip through.”
Dual or multi-signatory protocols ensure that no single individual can authorize a payment of this magnitude.

3. *Bank Oversight*

International payments must pass through correspondent banks, which verify and ensure compliance with terms before releasing funds.
A payment of $80 million would undergo intense scrutiny, both automated and manual, to ensure accuracy.

4. *Debt-Specific Safeguards*

Debt repayments follow pre-agreed schedules that are transparent to both Zambia and its creditors. There is no room for “spontaneous errors.”
The Improbability of Human or Technical Errors

For this payment to be an “error,” it would have required numerous simultaneous failures across multiple levels of oversight—an absurd notion in any functional system.
Even in the rare instance of data entry errors or miscommunication, the amount would have triggered internal reviews long before payment.

*The Real Issue: Lies and Deception*
President Hichilema and his administration have continuously misled the nation. After claiming to have restructured Zambia’s debt, they are now exposed for making payments they insisted were unnecessary. This latest deception is an insult to the Zambian people, designed to mask their failure to deliver on promises.

We challenge the UPND government to:

1. *Provide Evidence of This “Error”*: Release all documentation showing how such an error could occur despite Zambia’s rigorous systems and oversight.
2. *Reverse the Payment If It Was a Mistake:* If the payment is truly erroneous, why has it not been reversed?

3. *Tell the Truth About Zambia’s Debt Status*: The lies must stop. Zambians deserve to know the truth about the government’s mishandling of national debt.
*Conclusion*
The EFF stands firm in holding this government accountable. President Hakainde Hichilema and Secretary to the Treasury Felix Nkulukusa owe the Zambian people an honest explanation. This charade must end.

We demand transparency and an immediate response to these pressing concerns. The Zambian people deserve leaders who prioritize their interests, not a government that peddles lies to cover up its incompetence and failure.

Wherever we want to go our feet will take us there.

Judicial Integrity at Stake: The Controversy Over Former President Dr. Edgar Lungu’s 2026 Eligibility- Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

Judicial Integrity at Stake: The Controversy Over Former President Dr. Edgar Lungu’s 2026 Eligibility

By Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

The debate around former President Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s eligibility to contest in the 2026 elections has reignited deep divisions within Zambia’s political and legal landscape. UPND sympathizers have repeatedly argued that it is the Constitution—and not President Hakainde Hichilema (HH)—that has barred Dr. Lungu from seeking a return to office. However, this narrative does not hold water when examined against the backdrop of the Constitutional Court’s precedents and the suspicious circumstances surrounding this latest ruling.

The Constitutional Court’s Previous Rulings on Dr. Lungu’s Eligibility

The Constitutional Court, Zambia’s ultimate authority on constitutional matters, had on several occasions unequivocally ruled that Dr. Lungu was eligible to run for office. These rulings were based on Article 106(6)(b) of the Constitution, which states that a presidential term served for less than three years does not count as a full term.

1. The 2015-2016 Term: After the untimely death of President Michael Sata, Dr. Lungu served as President for less than two years. This period did not meet the constitutional threshold to qualify as a full term.

2. Clear Legal Precedents: The court repeatedly affirmed that Dr. Lungu’s short tenure did not disqualify him from contesting the presidency in 2016 or 2021.

3. 2021 Eligibility: Following these precedents, Dr. Lungu was deemed eligible to run in 2021, where he faced and lost to President Hichilema.

These rulings were consistent and firmly rooted in the Constitution. For the court to reverse its own established precedents now—without any changes to the constitutional framework or compelling new arguments—is deeply troubling.

Political Pressure: A Possible Catalyst for Reversal

The decision to bar Dr. Lungu from contesting in 2026 cannot be separated from the political context surrounding it. President Hichilema, long a critic of his predecessor, vowed to ensure that Dr. Lungu would never return to power. His infamous statement, “we will play iming’alato,” was not just rhetoric but a clear indication of his intent to use every available means to neutralize his predecessor politically.

Fast-forward to the current scenario,  UPND  surrogate Michelo  Chizombe an ally of President Hakainde Hichilema spearheaded a legal petition questioning Dr. Lungu’s eligibility. This petition, however, brought no new evidence or arguments to the table—only recycled claims that the Constitutional Court had already addressed. The court’s decision to entertain this petition and reverse its earlier rulings raises serious questions about judicial independence and political influence.

Unanswered Questions About the Reversal

The court’s latest ruling on Dr. Lungu’s eligibility is riddled with contradictions and lacks a transparent legal basis:

What Changed Between 2021 and 2026? The Constitutional Court previously ruled that Dr. Lungu was eligible in 2021. The Constitution itself has not been amended since then, so on what basis did the court determine that Dr. Lungu is now ineligible for 2026?

Failure to Justify the Reversal: The court has not provided a clear explanation for reversing its own precedent. This unexplained decision undermines its credibility and fuels perceptions of political interference.

Judicial Manipulation: A Threat to Democracy

Further compounding these suspicions is the controversial replacement of three Constitutional Court judges who had previously ruled on Dr. Lungu’s eligibility. These judges were removed under opaque circumstances and replaced with individuals perceived to be aligned with the ruling UPND.

When Dr. Lungu’s legal team raised concerns and requested the recusal of these judges, their plea was ignored. This refusal has further eroded public confidence in the judiciary and bolstered claims that the court’s independence has been compromised.

Does President Hichilema Have the Power to Bar Dr. Lungu?

Constitutionally, President Hichilema does not possess the authority to directly bar a political rival from contesting elections. However, the reversal of Dr. Lungu’s eligibility raises serious concerns about indirect interference. The judiciary, meant to serve as an impartial arbiter, appears to have been swayed by political pressure—a dangerous precedent for Zambia’s democracy.

This leads to a critical question: If HH lacks the legal authority to bar Dr. Lungu, how else could this sudden reversal have occurred if not through political influence over the judiciary?

The Bigger Picture: Implications for Zambia’s Democracy

The barring of Dr. Lungu is more than a political maneuver—it is a direct assault on Zambia’s democratic institutions. By undermining the judiciary’s independence, this decision has eroded public trust in the rule of law and set a dangerous precedent for the future.

Even Zambians who are not supporters of Dr. Lungu are troubled by these developments. Their concerns are not about Dr. Lungu’s political fate but about the integrity of the country’s institutions. A judiciary that is perceived to be politically compromised is a judiciary that fails to serve justice.

The Constitution is meant to be a guiding document, protecting democracy and ensuring fairness. However, the handling of Dr. Lungu’s eligibility case has turned the Constitution into a political weapon, manipulated to serve partisan interests.

Conclusion: A Call for Judicial Integrity

The claim that the Constitution barred Dr. Edgar Lungu from contesting the 2026 elections is misleading. The same Constitution and its provisions were used by the Constitutional Court to declare him eligible in 2021. The court’s unexplained reversal not only undermines its own credibility but also casts a shadow over Zambia’s democracy.

For Zambia to move forward, it is imperative that the judiciary reasserts its independence and integrity. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done. The handling of this case has left the courts exposed and raised serious doubts about their impartiality. Zambians deserve better, and the restoration of trust in the judiciary is essential for the nation’s democratic future.

Justice must serve the people, not political agendas. Let this be a wake-up call to protect the sanctity of Zambia’s institutions for generations to come.

ZESCO PAID $80 MILLION TO CHINA BY MISTAKE – GOVT

ZESCO PAID $80 MILLION TO CHINA BY MISTAKE – GOVT

Is it Airtel Mobile Money?, Wonders Mwamba.

China Won’t Refund So We’ve asked Exim Bank of China to treat Zesco’s $80m pay as advance debt payment, the Ministry of Finance has said.

Commodity international news outlet Bloomberg and Reuters have reported that Zambia’s Power Utility, ZESCO Ltd erroneously paid a collosal sum of $80million to China.

And the News Diggers reports that Secretary to the Treasury, Felix Nkulukusa, has also confirmed the details stating that Zesco payed Exim Bank of China US$80 million.

However, Nkulukusa has revealed that Zesco did not consult government before making the payment, hence the confusion on the transaction.

“Zesco Ltd had been accumulating revenues from electricity sales in a securitized account from a power plant, Kafue Gorge Lower Power Station, that Chinese companies built and financed, and “unfortunately” transferred about $80 million from the account”, Secretary to the Treasury Felix Nkulukusa said.

Since we owe China a lot of money, China will not even bother to refund the money and Nkulukusa has advised China that the $80million must now be treated as advance payment towards debt payments!

Opposition PF Spokesperson Emmanuel Mwamba has made the following observations to this ordeal.:

No wonder Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane has presented two unprecedented supplementary budgets in one fiscal year, and has proceeded to recall Parliament to return and approve more National Borrowings Plan.

My questions are;

1. Where are the guard rails at Ministry of Finance, and Bank of Zambia?

2. Citizens have trouble remitting $2,000 as they have to provide lists of documents including ZRA’s Tax Payers Identification Number (T-Pin) for duch a payment to be processed.

3. ZESCO Managing Director and Board have limited mandates and cannot make such a lumpsome and collosal payment without requisite approvals.

I’ve noticed that Nkulukusa is trivialising this huge payment by attributing it to social-media. When did Bloomberg reports become mere social-media talk?

WHY CHISHALA KATEKA AND THE NEW HERITAGE PARTY (NHP) ARE SIMPLY THE BEST CHOICE FOR ZAMBIA

WHY CHISHALA KATEKA AND THE NEW HERITAGE PARTY (NHP) ARE SIMPLY THE BEST CHOICE FOR ZAMBIA

Among the aspirants seeking Zambian presidential office in 2026, Chishala Kateka, is one exceptional individual worthy of  consideration and support, for she is a visionary and revolutionary leader.

The NHP acknowledges that each individual has their strengths and weaknesses, just like the spots on an animal’s body. Some have dark spots like a hyena, repulsive to the public and voters. Dark hyena spots include  selfishness, greedy, vulgar language, lies, hot temperedness, reactionary, holier than thou,  intimidating, bullying, highly controlling, being bought by the ruling party, opportunistic and being double legged.

However, Chishala Kateka stands out with the attractive spots of a leopard, appealing to every eye and all voters.

What sets Chishala Kateke apart is her impeccable record – she is corruption-free, untainted by past political affiliations, and unencumbered by pending cases and accusations. – Promoting perpetual land ownership, rather than 99-year leases that UPND offers.

– Empowering Zambian youth and women through education, training, and economic opportunities.

AfDB APPROVES $108 MILLION LOAN TO ZAMBIA FOR ECONOMIC REFORMS AND AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT

AfDB APPROVES $108 MILLION LOAN TO ZAMBIA FOR ECONOMIC REFORMS AND AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT

The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved a $108 million loan to Zambia to bolster economic governance and drive reforms across critical public sectors. The funding aims to support the Fiscal Sustainability and Economic Resilience Support Programme, designed to build a resilient and diversified economy.

In a statement issued Thursday, AfDB Country Manager for Zambia, Raubil Durowoju, described the loan as part of a multi-sectoral initiative designed to build a resilient and diversified economy. The funds will support the Fiscal Sustainability and Economic Resilience Support Programme, a cornerstone of Zambia’s economic reform agenda.

Key objectives of the programme include boosting domestic revenue generation through measures such as introducing an electronic “smart invoice” system, registering 12,000 VAT-liable taxpayers, and strengthening Zambia’s participation in the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes.

A significant portion of the funding is earmarked for the agricultural sector. This includes supporting the Ministry of Agriculture’s mechanization strategy by establishing ten mechanization centers to provide rental equipment to farmers lacking access to machinery. The goal is to enhance agricultural productivity and reduce reliance on the mining sector by enabling farmers to supply both domestic and international markets.

Additionally, 257 million kwacha (approximately $9.4 million) will be allocated for the 2023-2024 agricultural season to support sustainable agriculture. The private sector will manage this market-driven initiative, offering small and medium-sized farmers customized financing for agricultural inputs, addressing their limited access to affordable credit.

The programme also aims to improve the efficiency and transparency of public spending by strengthening Zambia’s public investment management strategy.

This approval is part of AfDB’s broader commitment to Zambia, which, as of November 30, 2024, included an active portfolio of 24 projects valued at $872.3 million.

“This facility represents a significant step toward achieving fiscal stability and advancing private sector participation in Zambia’s economic development,” said Durowoju.

The loan is expected to play a transformative role in Zambia’s economic diversification efforts, driving growth and resilience across critical sectors.

WHY “KASONGO” WAS COMPOSED

WHY “KASONGO” WAS COMPOSED.

His real name was Kasongo wa Kanema, died 2 years ago  and buried at Lang’ata Cemetery…..

“Kasongo” has been trending but few know the story behind the song.
“Kasongo” was done by the band Super Mazembe, a congolese band that moved to Kenya in 1974. The band members had gone to visit their friend Kasongo in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

On reaching his  house, they met Kasongo’s wife and they asked her if he was at home.
Kasongo’s wife welcomed them and told them that she had not seen Kasongo for days.

Back then, there was no internet and it was rare to find someone who owned a phone. They decided to send him a message through music, hoping it would reach him.

The Super Mazembe members started creating a song for Kasongo in his living room, telling him to come home because his wife is worried and she’s looking for him but can’t find him.

They went on to record the song and, as they say, the rest is history.

Will Smith Addresses Diddy Rumors During Concert: ‘I Don’t Even Like Baby Oil’

Will Smith is addressing the rumors that he was involved with Diddy‘s ‘freak-offs’ or any of the embattled mogul’s alleged sex crimes.

While performing in San Diego on Thursday (December 12), Will took a moment to discuss all of the memes he’s been seeing that place him in Diddy’s vicinity – and made sure to clarify he’s had nothing to do with any of it.

“The world we’re in right now, it’s really hard for y’all to discern what’s real and what’s true,” he said in a video obtained by TMZ. “I been seeing y’all memes and stuff. People been making memes. I see the memes. Some of the stuff is funny. I haven’t addressed any of this publicly but I just wanna say this very clearly – I don’t got shit to do with Puffy so y’all can stop all them memes. Y’all can stop all of that bullshit. I ain’t been nowhere near no damn freak-off. I do enough of my own shit. Don’t be putting me in other people’s shit.”

He continued: “I ain’t been nowhere near that man, ain’t did none of that stupid shit. So whenever y’all hear that, if somebody say it, it’s a damn lie. I don’t even like baby oil. I usually don’t respond to dumb ass stuff because like, it’s so many things. People say so much stuff, but that one, y’all memes was doing too much. Y’all was having me mad.”

Even before any of the mounting lawsuits and charges came down on Diddy this year, Gene Deal made a claim in 2023 that Jada and Will Smith were hoping to lure Jennifer Lopez into having a threesome with them, prompting her then-boyfriend Diddy to confront the superstar actor.

When asked about this rumor during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Diddy first stared at Kimmel with a stern expression in response to the audacious question. He then broke character and said: “Yo, this show has gotten crazier since the last time I was here … you really heard that? I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about. Jimmy, I thought we was friends.”

Deal made the allegation during an interview with The Art of Dialogue a month prior, where he recalled Puff’s alleged heated reaction after suspecting that the Men In Black star and his wife were trying to get with his partner.

“We were at a birthday party that I think Matt Damon was giving for Ben Affleck. It was just a little gathering at the Four Seasons,” he recalled. “Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, Puff, Will Smith and Jada were sitting on [one] side of the room.

“[Puff] stood up. And when he stood up, he walked and did his arms a certain kind of way like [crossing them]. I go over towards him and he said to me, ‘Yo, I think Will and Jada are trying to scoop up Jennifer. I want you to stay close ’cause I’ma snuff him.’

Jay-Z’s ‘illegitimate son’ accuses rapper of fraudulently avoiding DNA tests

Jay-Z is facing new calls to confirm the paternity of his ‘illegitimate son’ in another legal battle days after the rapper was accused of s3xually ass@ulting a 13-year-old alongside Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

The record executive, 55, real name Shawn Carter, is being dragged back into the ongoing legal tussle over the paternity of Rymir Satterthwaite who has been in a decade-long fight to prove that the rapper is his biological father.

Satterthwaite, 31, is claiming Carter’s legal team acted fraudulently during previous attempts to get him to take a paternity test.

Satterthwaite, his late mother Wanda, and his guardian Dr. Lillie Coley are listed as plaintiffs in a new lawsuit against multiple New Jersey courts, judges, and officials, including the New Jersey Supreme Court, alleging violations of their constitutional rights.

Filed on November 25, the suit argues that from 2012 to 2023 their ‘rights were violated through fraudulent court actions, which included sealed records, wrongful sanctions, and obstruction of their legal proceedings.’

Wanda, who died in 2019, alleged she had sex with Carter in 1992 when she was 16 and he was 22 in a sworn affidavit obtained by DailyMail.com. Satterthwaite was born in the summer of 1993.

At the time, she was in an on-again-off-again romance with her high school sweetheart Robert Graves.

In 2010 she requested that a Pennsylvania court make both men take a paternity test in order to determine her son’s real father.

According to Mail Online, the case began with a pre-trial in Camden County, New Jersey on August 13, 2012.

During the pre-trial, Carter’s attorney argued that Dr. Coley, who has acted as Satterthwaite’s legal guardian since his mother handed over custody in 2011 due to ailing health had ‘no jurisdiction’ over his case because it was first filed by Wanda in Pennsylvania, and therefore should be heard in the same state.

The case was dismissed outright because Satterthwaite was over 18 years old at the time of the pre-trial and, according to Pennsylvania state law, paternity must be established before a child reaches the age of adulthood.

The court ruled that the case should be tried under New Jersey law, which states that the age of ‘parentage’ is 23.

Carter’s legal team then argued that the rapper should be exempt from undergoing a DNA test in New Jersey because he did not live or own any property in the state despite public records linking him to homes in Alpine and Newport.

On December 12, 2012, his attorney in New Jersey, Lise Fisher, admitted that she ‘misspoke’ when she said that Carter did not own property in New Jersey.

In court transcripts obtained by DailyMail.com, Fisher said: ‘I submitted as an exhibit to my client’s cross-motion an introductory statement, and verified the introductory statement, signed by her that specifically gives Mr. Carter’s residence in New York.

‘I did misspeak at the last hearing, because I really did think that, that was his home address. I didn’t realize that was his business address. So I do apologize for that.’

At the time, Carter’s Roc Nation was located in New York – the address that his attorney claimed was his home address.

Fisher continued: ‘That having been said, he has a domicile in New York. That’s what counts. That’s where he lives. That’s where he resides. And there’s nothing that changes that.’

However, Fisher was made aware of Carter’s New Jersey properties from the motion for reconsideration that included the deeds and tax records.

New Jersey law states that an attorney commits fraud when knowingly making false statements.

The lawsuit came days before Carter was mentioned in a suit with Combs, 55.

On Tuesday, Satterthwaite slammed Carter’s response to the allegation that he r@ped a 13-year-old girl at an MTV VMAs after party on September 7, 2000.

Carter denied the claims and insisted he has always fought to ‘protect children.’

‘It is both heartbreaking and frustrating to see Mr. Carter respond to allegations with such deflection and attacks,’ he told DailyMail.com of the statement.

‘My late mother, Wanda, was just 16 years old when she became pregnant with me, and for years I have sought clarity about my identity. This is not about greed or spectacle – it’s about uncovering the truth and ensuring all parties are held accountable.’

Satterthwaite took aim at the statement, claiming if Carter ‘values the ideals of honor and protecting children’ then he should stop refusing to acknowledge his paternity.

‘Despite my efforts, Mr. Carter has never once written a letter to me to address these claims – whether to deny or acknowledge paternity, or to address why his attorney’s committed this fraud,’ he continued.

‘If Mr. Carter values the ideals of honor and protecting children, as he claims in his letter, he should step forward with transparency. He continues to deflect and avoid.’

The suit claims the woman, referred to as Jane Doe, was driven to a house party and offered a drink that made her feel ‘woozy, lightheaded and felt [like] she needed to lie down.’

Combs and Carter are then alleged to have entered the room with Combs declaring: ‘You are ready to party!’

She claims Carter then removed her clothes, held her down and r@ped her while Diddy and an unnamed female celebrity watched. She says Combs also r@ped her as Carter and the woman looked on.

‘These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?’ Carter said in his statement.

‘These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.’

Diddy’s alleged ‘three word excuse when victim woke up while being r@ped’ revealed

A bombshell new lawsuit has claimed Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs told an alleged r@pe victim, ‘I’m almost done’ when he awoke to find the rapper s3xually ass@ulting him.

Combs, 50, has been accused of drugging and r@ping three men in shocking new filings.

The anonymous complainants claim the disgraced music mogul plied them with spiked drinks before attacking them while unconscious.

The incidents allegedly took place between 2019 and 2022, according to the documents filed in New York State’s Supreme Court by lawyer Thomas Giuffra.

One of the men, who says he used to work for Combs, claims he was raped by Diddy at a Manhattan hotel after he agreed to meet him to discuss missed payments.

He claims he was given a drink laced with drugs which caused him to feel sleepy, prompting Combs to encourage him to take a nap on a couch. When he awoke, he was on his stomach and found his boss on top of him r@ping him, according to the lawsuit.

‘When Plaintiff questioned Defendant Sean Combs and attempted to resist his advances, COMBS told him to “stop” and that he was “almost done”,’ the filing states.

Another man alleged that his attack was filmed and he was given $2,500 in cash after the incident.

The third man claims Combs and his associates ‘from Bad Boy Records’ took turns s3xually ass@ulting him at a party in the Hamptons.

‘These complaints are full of lies. We will prove them false and seek sanctions against every unethical lawyer who filed fictional claims against him,’ Combs’ representatives said.

But one lawsuit states Combs, ‘has a profound contempt for men and women and an ongoing practice of denigrating, drugging, blackmailing, and humiliating them.’

Giuffra insisted, ‘Combs is a rich, powerful public figure who was able to take advantage by drugging these men.’

‘After the ass@ults, he ensured their silence by threatening them and relying on their fear of his power,’ he said.

‘This is a long overdue opportunity for the victims to take the power back after carrying the burden of the ass@ults in silence for several years.’

The claims are the latest lawsuits filed against the embattled rapper which accuse him of r@pe and s3xual ass@ult.

Combs, 55, remains at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center where he is awaiting trial for federal criminal charges of s3x trafficking and racketeering which he denies.

In one lawsuit, Combs’ former employee states that he has known the musician since 2006 when he was hired to run errands for Combs in his capacity as CEO of Bad Boy Records.

He claims that in February 2020, he was at a meeting at the InterContinental New York Times Square hotel when Combs poured him an alcoholic drink which was laced with something that made him feel ‘excessively tired’.

He alleged Combs told him to take a nap and when he awoke he found the executive on top of him raping him.

‘Defendant Sean Combs told Plaintiff that going to the police will make Plaintiff “look like an idiot” and that because Combs is “Diddy,” Plaintiff would never be able to substantiate his claims against Combs,’ the lawsuit states.

It adds that Combs’ entourage then called the alleged victim on his cellphone to threaten him further.

Another man claims he was ‘recruited’ for an afterparty after he met Combs at the Marquee New York nightclub in Manhattan in 2019 through a club promoter friend.

Around ten people joined the party at the Park Hyatt New York, according to the filing.

Once there Combs, ‘personally offered Plaintiff a cocktail which had been made in the other room’, the document states.

The man claims he consumed half the drink and the room, ‘started spinning and his mouth became very dry’.

He alleges Combs, ‘looked at him and the other people in the room and said, “he is ready to party”,’ before he passed out and awoke to find himself being r@ped by the rapper.

He claims that in a brief moment of consciousness, he saw a man and woman recording the alleged assault.

When he awoke the next day, he was handed $2,500 on behalf of Combs, the lawsuit states.

‘Out of fear and humiliation, Plaintiff never told anybody about the aforementioned incident, until now,’ the filing adds.

The third man claims he met Combs in 2020 through friends but quickly, ‘fell victim to one more more criminal sex acts at the hands of Sean Combs and his associates’.

He alleges he was repeatedly r@ped by the group after attending a party at the rapper’s Hamptons home.

The filings seek legal fees and an unspecified number of damages from Combs, as well as several entities linked to the rapper, to be determined at trial.

Bad Boy Entertainment Holdings Inc., Bad Boy Entertainment LLC., Bad Boy Productions Holdings, Inc., Daddy’s House Recordings, Inc., and Sony Music Holdings Inc. are named as co-defendants.

Combs has fiercely refuted all the allegations so far. Last month his request for bail was denied for a third time.

He will now remain behind bars until his May 2025 trial.

Jay-Z and Diddy’s accuser admits holes in story

0

Jay-Z is seeking to have a rape lawsuit against him dismissed after the accuser, who also named Diddy in her claims, admitted to significant inconsistencies in her story during an interview with NBC News.

The accuser, identified as Jane Doe, alleges she was raped by the music moguls at the age of 13 during an after-party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Speaking publicly for the first time, she described being taken in a limo to Diddy’s house, consuming a drink that made her feel disoriented, and later being assaulted.

Doe referred to the alleged incident as a “catastrophic event” that ruined her life. However, during the interview, she acknowledged discrepancies in her account, including her claim that she interacted with musician Benji Madden at the party—who stated he was not in New York City at the time. She also alleged that her father picked her up afterward, but he reportedly has no memory of this.

Adding to the inconsistencies, photos from the night show Diddy and Jay-Z partying at Lotus nightclub during the VMAs after-party, though they do not confirm their whereabouts for the entire evening.

Despite the inconsistencies, the accuser stands by her overall claims, saying, “Those flaws in the story don’t mean the rape didn’t happen.”

In response to her interview, Jay-Z’s attorney Alex Spiro filed documents calling the accusations “a sham” and emphasizing, “Basic facts in her narrative—the who, what, when, and where—are wrong.” He also highlighted the absence of any corroborating witnesses and criticized the accuser’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, for allegedly failing to verify the facts before filing the complaint.

Diddy’s legal team echoed these sentiments, describing the lawsuit as part of a larger pattern. “Yesterday, a lawyer admitted that over 50 people falsely claimed to be victims. Today, for the second time this week, a Buzbee plaintiff has been exposed. This is the beginning of the end of the money grab,” they stated.

Jay-Z’s legal team plans to file a motion to dismiss the case promptly, as both artists maintain their innocence amid the mounting scrutiny over the lawsuit’s inconsistencies.

50 Cent Says His Diddy Documentary Is Struggling To Keep Up With New Lawsuits

0

50 Cent is one of Diddy’s most vocal opps these days, taking every chance he gets to clown him for his abhorrent allegations and one-up him as a businessman. But that rivalry has a couple of challenges on the horizon.

One of them concerns Fif’s purported documentary on the Sean Combs scandal, which will apparently move to Netflix. While the G-Unit mogul seems quite excited to bring it to life, he also recently admitted on GMA3: What You Need To Know on Friday (December 13) that the wave of more and more allegations has made it difficult to fully complete this media endeavor.

“It’s a difficult project because every day, there’s new accusations coming out, it’s new things that happened,” 50 Cent remarked. “So, it’s become an octopus, with so many powers and so many things going on.” Then, he answered a question about whether or not he expected the Diddy allegations to reach this point. “No, not this bad. Not this much stuff. I don’t think anyone could have anticipated this many accusations and things that have taken place.”

What’s more is that 50 Cent is apparently interested in churning out plenty of documentaries on controversial and explosive pop culture topics, especially those at the intersection of crime, politics, and entertainment. For example, he recently suggested that he wants to produce a doc on Luigi Marone, the alleged assassin who murdered UnitedHealth Group CEO Brian Thompson. “I don’t know, I kinda like this killer,” Curtis Jackson wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. “I’m sorry this is going this way it is but I’m doing a documentary on him, he is special! I apologize in advance for to anyone who doesn’t understand.”

Meanwhile, 50 Cent also likes to insert himself into a lot of other unrelated pop culture drama, such as the cheating scandal between Claressa Shields, Papoose, and Remy Ma. With this in mind, we wouldn’t express surprise if he decided to build out his Diddy documentary even more or indulge in other interesting documentaries. Maybe not all the topics 50 wants will pan out, but it’s why he’s a mogul: he’s got the cash to make it happen.

50 Cent Says He Has No Issues With Jay-Z Despite Constantly Trolling Him

50 Cent is cutting back on his trolls while weighing in on the latest legal case involving another high-profile celebrity.

As previously reported, he took to his trolling station, Instagram, to share his reaction to Jay Z’s first public appearance amid the rapper’s rape allegations.

Accompanied by wife Beyoncé, 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter, and mother-in-law Tina Knowles, Jay Z posed for photos on the red carpet at the Mufasa premiere in Hollywood on Monday, December 9, 2024.

In a now-deleted post, 50 Cent joked, “Jay said they said I rapped [sic] a kid, everybody get dressed we going to see Mufasa LOL.”

During an appearance on BigBoyTV, 50 Cent elaborated on the situation, clarifying that he harbors no issues with Jay-Z or any significant problems with Diddy, who is also named in the lawsuit. “I just hope things are alright for him internally, at the crib,” 50 said, referencing Jay’s remarks during his interview with Big Boy.

“In the statement, they mentioned his daughter [Blue Ivy] being old enough [to understand]. She’s about 13. So it’s the same age as his kids… what [they are] saying he did.”

Jay-Z addressed the matter in a statement on Sunday, saying, “My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.”

Having faced numerous legal battles himself over the years, 50 Cent expressed his belief that cases of misconduct “isn’t [about] what you did. It’s what they said you did.” He added, “The damage is already done by the allegation itself.”

He went on to suggest that Jay-Z, who has been the live music entertainment strategist for the NFL since 2019, may encounter difficulties with the league if the legal situation escalates. “They will fall back, the NFL… they won’t necessarily be associated with that,” he remarked.

NFL Stands By JAY-Z Amid Sexual Assault Lawsuit

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has confirmed that JAY-Z’s relationship with the league remains strong despite the recent sexual assault lawsuit filed against him.

Speaking at the NFL’s winter meetings on December 11, Goodell clarified that Roc Nation, the entertainment agency led by the rapper, will continue to oversee the league’s annual Super Bowl halftime show and its social justice initiatives.

“We’re aware of the civil allegations and JAY-Z’s strong response to them. We know the litigation is ongoing, but from our standpoint, our relationship with them remains unchanged, including our preparations for the upcoming Super Bowl,” AP reported him as saying.

He also emphasized that the partnership had grown beyond the Super Bowl, noting that Roc Nation’s influence had been valuable in advising the NFL on various events and initiatives, especially social justice.

Jay-Z accused of assaulting teenager with Diddy
The lawsuit, filed by high-profile attorney Tony Buzbee, accuses JAY-Z of sexually assaulting a teenager at an afterparty following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Initially, the case named Diddy as a defendant, with the rapper referred to anonymously as “Celebrity A.” However, on December 8, the lawsuit was refiled, formally naming the rapper as the defendant.

The accuser claims that she was invited to an afterparty by Diddy’s driver, after being told she “fit what Diddy was looking for.” After being served a drink that allegedly made her feel ill, she claims to have been led to a bedroom, where she later woke up to find herself in the presence of JAY-Z, Diddy, and an unidentified female celebrity. The suit details graphic allegations of sexual assault, claiming that JAY-Z raped the girl while Diddy and the woman allegedly watched.

In response, JAY-Z and his team have vehemently denied the accusations. Roc Nation issued a statement labeling the lawsuit a “fraud” and accusing Buzbee of attempting to blackmail the rapper. JAY-Z, who rarely speaks publicly about his personal life, expressed his heartbreak over the impact the case could have on his family and reiterated his stance that the allegations are false.

If Mweetwa wants to know Plan B, let him ask Hichilema to call Lungu – Tonse Alliance

If Mweetwa wants to know Plan B, let him ask Hichilema to call Lungu – Tonse Alliance

THE Tonse Alliance headed by former President Edgar Lungu has revealed that the Plan B which the alliance is claiming to be in motion can only be discussed at presidential level.

Yesterday, Chief Government spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa demanded that Lungu’s Plan B must be made available to the public so the country can know if it is lawful or not.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today, Tonse Alliance spokesperson Sean Tembo stated that if Mweetwa wanted to know what Plan B really is, then he should ask President Hakainde Hichilema to talk to Lungu.

Tembo said just because Lungu said he had accepted the decision of the Constitutional Court on Tuesday, it does not mean he can’t challenge it.

“Our Plan B is actively in motion, as to what Plan B is, our advice to Cornelius is that Plan B  can only be discussed at presidential level. If Cornelius wants to know what Plan B is, then he should ask his president to get in touch with our president at that level they will discuss Plan B,” he said.

The alliance has failed to accept the Court’s ruling on Lungu’s eligibility where he was declared ineligible to contest future elections.

Tembo claimed that the judgement given was unlawful stating that the Constitutional Court had no right to review its decisions.

“We don’t accept the judgement because it’s illegal, the ConCourt has no jurisdiction to review or depart from its previous decision. The Supreme Court is the only one with that power. It has the power through written law. The Zambian constitution does not give power to the ConCourt to do that. We have decided to reject the decision because the reasons they gave are baseless and have no water,” lamented Tembo.

And Tonse Alliance Spiritual leader Danny Pule maintained that Lungu remains the Presidential candidate for Tonse Alliance in the 2026 general election.

Pule is confident that his boss will emerge victorious in 2026.

“It’s not over and President Lungu will be the eighth president, we want to assure you that the UPND will lose,” he said.

“Tonse Alliance Rejects Constitutional Court Ruling on Edgar Lungu’s Eligibility”

The Tonse Alliance has publicly rejected the Constitutional Court’s recent ruling, which bars former President Edgar Lungu from contesting the 2026 presidential election. At a press briefing held in Lusaka, Alliance spokesperson Sean Tembo and Alliance vice chairperson Danny Pule questioned the legality of the court’s decision and vowed to continue pushing for Lungu’s candidacy.

Speaking at the briefing, Sean Tembo argued that the Constitutional Court overstepped its jurisdiction by reviewing and departing from its earlier decisions, claiming that such authority is only granted to the Supreme Court under Article 125 of the Zambian Constitution.

“The Constitutional Court is a creature of Article 128, which does not provide for the power to review and depart from its own judgments. By doing so, the court acted outside its jurisdiction,” Tembo stated. He further criticized the court for citing precedents from South Africa and Kenya, where constitutional provisions expressly allow similar reviews.

Danny Pule echoed Tembo’s sentiments, insisting that the ruling is flawed and cannot be accepted. “It is not over. President Lungu will be on the ballot paper in 2026. We remain confident that he is eligible and will contest,” Pule asserted.

In response to questions about the alliance’s contingency plans, Pule hinted at a “Plan B” but declined to provide specifics. “Our Plan B is legal, and it will ensure that President Lungu is on the ballot. We cannot disclose details at this time,” Pule said.

Observers have noted the ambiguity surrounding the alliance’s next steps, with some speculating on possible legal or political maneuvers.

The alliance’s rejection of the court ruling has sparked varied reactions. Some legal experts argue that while the Constitutional Court’s decision can be debated, outright rejection undermines the rule of law.

“The Constitutional Court is the highest judicial authority on constitutional matters. While one may disagree with its rulings, there are legal avenues to pursue redress rather than outright defiance,” commented a constitutional law scholar.

Public opinion is also divided. Supporters of the alliance see the move as a necessary stand to ensure Lungu’s participation in 2026, while critics view it as a disregard for judicial authority and a distraction from pressing national issues.

The Constitutional Court’s decision has significant implications for Zambia’s political landscape, especially for the opposition’s strategy heading into the 2026 elections. While the Town Centre Alliance remains firm in its resolve, questions about its legal basis and strategy continue to linger.

For now, the nation watches closely as the alliance navigates this critical moment, with the fate of its leadership ambitions hanging in the balance.

BORROWING NEEDS FOR THE 2024/2025 FINANCIAL YEAR

Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba writes:

BORROWING NEEDS FOR THE 2024/2025 FINANCIAL YEAR

Minister of Finance and National Planning, Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane has requested the Speaker of the National Assembly to urgently recall Parliament to request its approval for more urgent national borrowings.

Musokotwane wants the National Borrowing Plans ( ABP) to be increased upwards.

Musokotwane has already sought two unprecedented supplementary budgets in one fisval year but now wants to borrow more.

The National Assembly approved Government’s plan to borrow K16.3 billion as Net Domestic Financing (NDF) and US $416.33 million from external sources for 2024 in the 2024 Annual Borrowing Plan (ABP) approved in October of 2023.

Following the amendment of the ABP which was approved in July 2024, the NDF for 2024
increased to K21.53 billion, while loans to be contracted from external sources increased to US $907.11 million.

2 DOMESTIC BORROWING

Net Domestic Financing (NDF) remains as earlier projected in the amended 2024
ABP at K22.3 billion. The funds will be raised through the issuance of Treasury bills
and Government bonds in public auctions, or contraction from local Commercial
Banks.

3 EXTERNAL BORROWING

3.1 Approved New External Loans
New external loans approved for contraction in the 2024 financial year amounted to
US $907 million, out of which US$ 150 million was budget support from the African Development Bank (AfDB), US $389,000,000.00 million from the IMF and US $368,109,333.00 project loans. Of this amount US $203.97 million was projected to be disbursed in 2024. (refer to Table)

The 2025 national budget for Zambia was ZMW 217.1 billion, which was a 9% increase from 2024.

The budget was intended to be financed by:
1. Domestic revenue: ZMW 174.2 billion, which includes tax revenue of ZMW 137.4 billion and non-tax revenue of ZMW 36.8 billion.

2. Grants: ZMW 8.1 billion from cooperating partners.

Financing: ZMW 34.7 billion

The budget’s goals included plans that have already collapsed:

a) A GDP growth rate of 6.6%
b) Inflation reduction to 6-8%
c) A budget deficit target of 3.1% of GDP

The major challenges facing Zambia’s 2025 national budget include the ongoing effects of a severe drought, leading to food insecurity (mismanaged by earlier exports of the national maize strategic reserve), loadshedding, and reduced economic growth, the need to manage a large debt burden, balancing social sector spending with infrastructure development, and navigating potential external economic shocks while aiming for ambitious growth targets, all while facing limited resources to address these issues.

Budget crisis looming

ADB has refused to fund Zambia’s concessionary Loans after critical assessment.

IMF cannot release the Loan component if the other money from ADB is not released.
It is imperative ghst Musokotwane gets the approval and adjustments from Parliament.

NIGER’S MILITARY RULERS SUSPEND BBC BROADCASTS

NIGER’S MILITARY RULERS SUSPEND BBC BROADCASTS

NIGER’S military government has suspended the BBC for three months, accusing it of spreading fake news that could destabilise social peace and demoralise troops fighting jihadists.

Niger’s Minister of Communication Raliou Sidi Mohamed announced that the decision would take effect immediately.

BBC programmes, including in Hausa, the most spoken language in Niger, and French, are broadcast in the country through local radio partners, reaching 2.4 million people in the country this year – about 17% of the adult population.

Although BBC radio programmes have been suspended, the website is not blocked and the radio can still be accessed on shortwave.

Niger’s government did not cite a specific broadcast for the suspension but it follows BBC reports about jihadist attacks in the Tillaberi region on Tuesday, which are said to have killed 91 soldiers and nearly 50 civilians.

The junta called these reports “baseless assertions” and a “campaign of intoxication orchestrated by adversaries of the Nigerien people aimed at undermining the morale of our troops and sowing division”.

The attacks were reported by multiple sources, including security blogs, which said the gunmen, believed to be allied to the Islamic State group, launched two simultaneous attacks in Chatoumane village.

In one of the attacks, the attackers are reported to have disguised themselves as civilians and opened fire at soldiers on patrol in the weekly market. The soldiers could not return fire directly because of the risk of collateral damage.

A BBC spokesperson said: “We stand by our journalism and we will continue to report on the region without fear or favour.”

French outlets, France24 and Radio France Internationale (RFI), have also been suspended in Niger since the military seized power in a coup in July 2023.

WATCH: How has Niger changed since the coup?
‘France takes us for idiots’ – Inside coup-hit Niger
The junta is under pressure for failing to curb militant attacks, one of its justifications for deposing democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum in July 2023.

Niger’s government also announced plans to “file a complaint” against RFI for “incitement to genocide”.

It claimed that RFI was a propaganda mouthpiece for former colonial power France.

RFI described the complaint as “extravagant and defamatory” and said it wasn’t based on any evidence.

Niger did not say where it planned to lodge the complaint against RFI.

West African neighbours Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali have all experienced coups in recent years. All of these military-led governments have suspended foreign media at some point since taking power.

The BBC was also suspended by Burkina Faso over its coverage of a report accusing its army of mass killings.

They are facing an insurgency made up of different jihadist groups which operate across the Sahel region of West Africa. Tillaberi is a particularly volatile area, near the borders with Mali and Burkina Faso.

The Sahel region is considered the new global epicentre of the Islamic State group, while groups linked to al-Qaeda also operate in the region.

The three countries have formed an alliance to fight the jihadists and expelled French troops, turning to Russia and Turkey instead for their security needs.

But the violence has continued.

Even if you are sworn in and after a day you die, it’s a term – Hichilema

Even if you are sworn in and after a day you die, it’s a term – Hichilema

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has described Tuesday’s judgement on the eligibility of former President Edgar Lungu as excellent, relating it to how the Public Private Dialogue Forum (PPDF) should operate with intent and clarity.

Officiating at the third PPDF Day in Lusaka yesterday, President Hichilema stated that the Constitutional Court gave all the benchmarks as to why they arrived at the decision.

“If you listen to the excellent judgement on the eligibility, what the ConCourt argued was that we have given all the benchmarking why this decision is being made. But more importantly what was the intention of the Zambians when they conceived the issue of a limited term, it was not to allow anybody to do more than two terms, they didn’t care whether it was five years or whatever happened there. But more than two, elected once, twice that’s it.”

“Even if you were sworn in and after a day you die, it’s a term. What am I saying, the intention of this platform is to get things done, that’s the intention of this PPDF,  to get things done so we can grow the economy and create jobs. Whether you are ministers, PSs, just get things done. If you are not sure ask someone else,” said President Hichilema.

The Head of State added that three years of working with the private sector has proved to be fruitful stating that he could now say that the public and private sectors now understood each other.

“Now three years down the line we understand each other. I want to see judgement cause on this platform, the third platform like this, I can afford to say these things. First platform, we were setting up things, second, beginning to understand each other and third, we now understand each other,” he said.

The President further touched on the need for mutual respect in the two sectors to promote more dialogue.

“Dialogue means mutual respect, some people are so rude that they write to a minister that if I were the president, I would fire you. Really? Just write what you want done and what you don’t and deliver it to the PPDF since you are so arrogant and can’t reason with others,” stated the Head of State.

A LETTER TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE- Sishuwa Sishuwa

A LETTER TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE

Dear Zambia,

I deeply love you, and my affection for you is unwavering. Nothing can diminish my enduring and everlasting love for you. I owe you a debt of gratitude. You gave me life, nurtured me, and continue to sustain me. Like so many others, it is my duty and responsibility to safeguard your well-being and ensure your prosperity.

I am acutely aware of those who seek to exploit you for their own gain. These opportunists, envious of our bond, aim to come between us and alienate you from me. Yet my love for you remains pure and steadfast, unshaken by any evil intentions. This year, as in years past, I have fought for you to the best of my ability, through conviction and the pen. My efforts have always been dedicated to the truth and helping you perceive the threats that jeopardise your well-being and your future. Despite my warnings about the myriad forces that seek to harm you, your response has been discouraging.

At times, it feels as though you are indifferent to the dangers that surround you. There have been moments when I felt tempted to give up, but I remained committed to you and my love for you is strong.

One day, I believe you will come to recognise the truth that those who lead you now and preside over your well-being may not have your best interests at heart. When that day comes, you may also understand the depth of my care and the sacrifices I have made and continue to make for you. I have hoped for reciprocity in our bond, but it has not come.

Even when I have given everything, you have often remained distant and unresponsive. Yet your indifference only deepens my curiosity and sense of responsibility towards you. My love is not contingent upon acknowledgment or return. It is a reflection of my nature, an innate part of who I am. Like the sun, I will continue to rise and shine for you. My commitment to doing what is right and just will not waver, regardless of whether it is recognised or appreciated.

While some may celebrate the light I bring, others may focus on the imperfections. Nevertheless, I persist. My affection for you is unwavering, and our bond is inseparable. I remain hopeful that the coming year will bring clarity and enlightenment to you. May the Universe grant you the ability to see through the shadows and discern the path forward. I wish you nothing but the best as we end another year together and as we step into another.

Love always,

Sishuwa

*ECL AND LUBINDA’S IMPULSE REACTIONS TO THE CONCOURT ELIGIBILITY RULING NOT INSPIRING*
================
Authored By *Mupishi Jones*

They say in the midst of a crisis, that’s when you see true leaders.

No doubt PF Faction led by Edgar Lungu is facing one of the toughest crises ever since it was established. It is facing a risk of extinction as one of the three factions of PF.It is in such circumstances that its followers were expecting messages of hope and not empty rhetoric.

The reactions from both Edgar Lungu and Given Lubinda at the Concourt ruling over the eligibility ruling, lacks sincerity and therefore does not inspire any hope to their followers and sympathisers. No wonder, their own Members of Parliament are calling for Edgar’s second retirement. These are MP’s representing PF in parliament,a political party Edgar claimed he came back from retirement to salvage. His own members are worried that his continued stay at the helm of PF posses danger to the continued existence of the party. They can no longer stomach the embarrassment.

Mr Edgar Lungu and Mr Given Lubinda’s reactions were definitely uttered out of impulse and under emotional collapse.Instead of exhibiting leadership qualities and skills at a time such as this, they showed us the opposite of what true leaders are made of!

Contrast this behaviour with that of President Hakainde Hichilema. How many times did President Hakainde Hichilema faced situations such as this in his political career as a leader?

The man faced worse situations than this where an adjourned presidential election petition Concourt case ruling on a Friday late evening to Monday morning and woke up on Monday morning only to be told that there was not going to be any further sitting on his case because the 14 days period elapsed! The 14 day period in itself wasn’t the problem, but the question was when did the ConCourt reconvened to pronounce itself on the 14 days, on Saturday,or sunday or on Friday midnight?

President Hakainde Hichilema was arrested and thrown into different prisons on more than 15 different times.
He’s never faked any illness during all these times. He’s never attempted to escape from this country even when he had both the financial capacity and international connections to do so.Not even his family members, the reason? He knew he had followers who were looking up to him to provide leadership during those extremely daring times.

Each time he was coming out of prison,he would appear to his members and sympathisers 10 times stronger than ever before, that was an inspiration leader worth dying for because he equally proved that he was willing to die for his country and his people!

Additionally, President Hakainde Hichilema has proved on time without numbers not only exceptional contagious courage to his members but also exceptional negotiating leadership skills in holding his party together for decades without any significant internal wrangles threatening it’s existence the way PF of Edgar Lungu has been facing ever since he left office.

This reveals that what was keeping the PF moving for 7 years when Edgar Lungu was in power, was the power of incumbency and not the leadership skills of Mr Edgar Lungu. The man has shown us that he is simply incapable of providing sound leadership at whatever level from family, his legal firm, during his presidency and ultimately at post Republican presidency level!

At family level, look at what his family is going through today, even if one is claiming that they are just being politically persecuted, all of them?? He was not providing leadership to his family and allowed them to exploit his presidency.
That just goes to prove that “if you keep on tolerating ,massaging and defending your family’s criminal activities even when they are clearly at fault , one day you’ll hire expensive lawyers to defend them “.

Anyone can go back and critically do a search at his legal firm, isn’t he Edgar Lungu whose practicing lincense was revoked for professional misconduct?

Look at his presidency……. uncontrolled caderism, allegations of corruption at an industrial scale, election malpractices and now this kind of post presidency impulse plan B in motion rhetoric, to scale who?????

Leaders are born and you can see them by their fruits ,

*I submit*

Contradictions in Crisis
…….SADC and Zambian Government Clash Over Weather Narratives

Contradictions in Crisis
…….SADC and Zambian Government Clash Over Weather Narratives

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Zambian government appear to be at odds over the country’s climate situation, creating confusion and raising questions about preparedness. While SADC has issued a statement warning of heavy rainfall in Zambia due to Tropical Cyclone Chido, the Zambian government has declared the ongoing dry spell and its impact on maize production a national disaster and emergency. This apparent contradiction has sparked critical analysis of the two positions and their implications for national and regional planning.

SADC’s statement highlights Tropical Cyclone Chido, which has formed over the southwest Indian Ocean and is expected to bring heavy rainfall to Zambia and other member states in the coming days. The regional body has urged member nations to prepare for potential floods and other cyclone-induced disruptions, emphasizing the need for coordinated disaster response strategies.

This forecast paints a picture of imminent relief for drought-stricken areas but also raises the specter of excessive rainfall overwhelming already vulnerable regions. In a region where climate variability is becoming increasingly common, such warnings are critical to avoid complacency and mitigate potential damage.

Contrary to SADC’s warning, Zambia’s government has declared a national disaster due to a dry spell and its looming effects on maize production. Information Minister Cornelius Mweetwa announced measures aimed at addressing food insecurity, including:

Mobilizing irrigation systems in the north to boost food production.

Contracting farmers to grow early-maturing maize.

Securing maize imports from Tanzania and maintaining significant national reserves.

The government’s declaration underscores an immediate concern for the country’s agricultural sector, which is reeling from reduced rainfall and prolonged dry conditions.

At first glance, the positions of SADC and the Zambian government seem contradictory—how can a country simultaneously face a drought and impending heavy rainfall? However, a closer examination reveals that these phenomena can coexist, especially in the context of climate variability.

1. Localized Weather Patterns:

Zambia’s dry spell may be specific to certain regions, particularly the agricultural belts in the south and central parts of the country.

Cyclone Chido’s rainfall may primarily affect the northern and eastern regions, potentially bypassing the areas worst hit by drought.

2. Timing Discrepancies:

The dry spell declaration reflects conditions leading up to December 2024, while SADC’s forecast pertains to short-term weather impacts from the cyclone.

3. Climate Complexity:

Zambia’s climate, like much of the SADC region, is increasingly unpredictable. Droughts and floods can occur in close succession, compounding challenges for agriculture and disaster management.

The conflicting narratives expose gaps in communication and coordination between Zambia and SADC, raising critical questions about disaster preparedness:

Policy Disconnect: The Zambian government’s focus on drought mitigation appears reactive, addressing immediate food security concerns while neglecting potential flood preparedness.

Regional Coordination: SADC’s cyclone warning underscores the importance of a unified regional response. Zambia’s inward-focused strategy, though necessary for immediate needs, could undermine broader regional efforts to manage climate-related disasters.

Public Confusion: Mixed messaging risks creating uncertainty among citizens, who may be unsure whether to prepare for floods, drought, or both.

To navigate these complex challenges, Zambia must adopt a more integrated approach, aligning national efforts with regional frameworks. This includes:- Strengthening communication between SADC and national authorities to harmonize messaging, Investing in dual-purpose infrastructure that can address both drought and flood risks and Enhancing climate forecasting capabilities to provide accurate, localized data.

The apparent contradiction between SADC and the Zambian government reflects not just differing priorities but also the multi-faceted nature of climate challenges. Both perspectives are valid but incomplete on their own. Addressing Zambia’s food security and climate resilience will require reconciling these narratives and crafting strategies that account for the full spectrum of risks—drought, floods, and beyond.

As the region braces for the effects of Cyclone Chido, Zambia stands at a crossroads. The decisions made now will shape the nation’s ability to withstand future climate shocks and safeguard its people’s livelihoods.

41-YEAR-OLD WOMAN RETURNS TO SCHOOL, HAILS UPND GOVERNMENT FOR FREE EDUCATION POLICY

41-YEAR-OLD WOMAN RETURNS TO SCHOOL, HAILS UPND GOVERNMENT FOR FREE EDUCATION POLICY

December 13,2024

SOLWEZI – A 41-year-old woman from Kyawama Compound in Solwezi, North-Western Province, has made headlines for her inspiring decision to return to school after decades of absence. Dorothy Kamanicha, a single mother of four, dropped out in Grade 3 following the death of her mother.

Her return to school has been facilitated by the United Party for National Development (UPND) government’s visionary Free Education policy under President Hakainde Hichilema. The re-entry policy has enabled individuals like Ms. Kamanicha to reignite their educational journey regardless of age.

Now a Grade 8 pupil at Rodwell Mwepu Secondary School, Ms. Kamanicha has showcased exceptional determination, skipping two grades due to her impressive academic performance in primary school. She expressed her gratitude to the UPND government for prioritizing education and ensuring it is accessible to all, young and old alike.

“I could not read or write for years, and it was a big challenge,” said Ms. Kamanicha. “But today, I am able to return to school and continue my education, thanks to the Free Education program introduced by President Hichilema. This policy has given hope to many of us who thought our dreams were lost forever.”

President Hichilema’s administration has been lauded for removing financial barriers to education, leading to a significant increase in enrollment. Over 2.5 million learners, including adults like Ms. Kamanicha, have benefitted from this transformative initiative.

Education Minister Douglas Syakalima recently highlighted that the re-entry policy is a testament to the government’s commitment to human capital development. “We believe in creating opportunities for every Zambian to realize their potential. Education is a right, not a privilege,” he said.

Ms. Kamanicha’s story is a beacon of hope for many, symbolizing how inclusive education policies can empower individuals and transform communities. She urged other adults who dropped out of school to take advantage of the UPND government’s programs and pursue their education.

“This government has shown that it cares for the marginalized and those left behind. I am a living example that it is never too late to learn,” she said.

The Free Education policy stands as a hallmark of President Hichilema’s administration, underscoring its commitment to improving lives through equitable and accessible education for all.
