FACTS ABOUT NDOLA THANKSGIVING PRAYER MEETING:

12th September, 2023

TRUTH be told………. The following are facts of what transpired in Ndola regarding the thanksgiving prayer meeting which was unfortunately blocked by the Police. We feel for the Police who sometimes continue to work under unnecessary political pressure making them look unprofessional.

1. The Ndola City Ministers Platform, a known fraternal of ministers of the gospel duly registered in accordance with the laws of Zambia and has been meeting weekly called for a thanksgiving prayer meeting focused on four Christian National pillars. This meeting was for Pastors and Church leaders only.

2. Church stakeholders in the City had welcomed the idea to pray as planned. The Church mother bodies in the City were fully briefed and did support the idea.

3. The Police were informed and invited accordingly. Initially the Police did agree on 7th September, 2023 with the organisers that the meeting was important and committed to providing security.

4. The invitation was extended to Pastors across the City. The Provincial Minister was fully aware and got official invitation. The guest of honour was to be the former 6th head of state ECL for reasons that were clearly explained to the Police.

5. The venue was to be UCZ St Andrews Town Centre Ndola from 10hrs to 14hrs.

6. The official program was shared with all stakeholders including the Police, well discussed, guided and agreed.

7. Suddenly a day before on 8th September, 2023 a named senior Police officer at division called for a meeting with the organisers at which he first requested to postpone the meeting due to alleged security concerns but struggled to clearly explain when asked by the men of God.

8. The organisers picked information that some party officials had moved in to influence the blocking of the prayer meeting. The men of God did advise the Police to remain professional.

9. On the day of prayer Saturday 9th September, 2023, it shocked the servants of God and the Nation to see the Church surrounded by heavy presence of Police with riot gear. Some Pastors were mishandled in the process and a wedding scheduled at Church before the prayer program was disturbed.

10. Five key Church leaders were marked for arrest on flimsy grounds a thing which failed. The reported “Rev”……. alleged to have been arrested is a false narrative as no Reverend was arrested, we challenge any one on this item. Police arrested a free-lance journalist named Chileshe Charles and thought they had arrested one of the targeted senior Clerics. The devil is a liar.

11. The organisers upon seeing the confusion arising from conflicting statements by the Police did advise their guest ECL who had landed and picked from the airport to humbly return back to Lusaka who gladly heeded and was driven by road. ECL had a flight scheduled for about 18hrs but couldn’t wait for long hours hence going by road.

12. The organisers later asked Police to allow the meeting to proceed without ECL but Police refused and said they had strict instructions to not allow any of the prayer program to happen.

Country men and women;
It is extremely sad the times we are living in where prayer meetings can be stopped for no justifiable reasons and those in public office conflicting with the Church. It must be stated that the program was not for UCZ. UCZ was only gracious to grant the organisers of the event use of the venue and non of the UCZ Clerics was involved in the organising of the program. The spirit of the meeting was simply about thanksgiving prayers and to prepare the Body of Christ in Ndola for NDoP slated for 18th October, 2023. ECL was invited in his capacity as former head of state who has since retired from active politics. ECL has never come out in the open that he is back to active politics. Continued disturbance on ECL may make him popular and tempted to come back, seeing that even when he is simply jogging it’s creating discomfort for some people raising sympathy for him. Please let’s promote love, peace and unity in Zambia. Let’s work on reducing the cost of living the greatest enemy we all face today. The Church remains open to working with all political stakeholders and will support the Government of the day always regardless of the party in office.

We call upon the Church in the City and indeed on the Copperbelt to continue praying for leaders in authority and the Police to serve better all citizens, observing the rule of law and not the rule of men. Have blessed day.

Jealous Woman Slices Off Lover’s Manh00d in Shocking Act of Revenge

Jealous Woman Cuts Off Lover’s Manhood
How Do Magicians Cut People in Half?

In a horrifying incident of domestic violence, a jealous woman took revenge on her lover by cutting off his manhood.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of September 7, has shocked the local community and raised concerns about the escalating levels of domestic abuse.

The Encounter Turns Tragic
According to a police memo, the victim, identified as Thomas Tasarirenhamo, 43, and the accused, Mercy Nhira, 24, were in a romantic relationship.

They resided in Marondera, where the tragic incident took place.

According to the details provided by the District Victim Friendly Unit (DVFU) in Marondera, the couple had a consensual intimate encounter before the shocking turn of events.

A Calculated Act of Revenge
In the middle of the night, tensions flared when Tasarirenhamo received a phone call from another woman who is reported to be his girlfriend.

Unbeknownst to him, this conversation would trigger a horrifying act of violence.

While Tasarirenhamo was engaged in the conversation, Nhira quietly retrieved a broken mirror from a nearby table and concealed it under the blankets.

A Shocking Act of Violence
As the conversation ended, Nhira cunningly approached Tasarirenhamo, pretending to initiate another intimate encounter.

However, her true intentions were far from amorous.

In a sudden and horrific act, the jealous woman took the hidden broken mirror and used it to sever her lover’s manhood.

Desperate Measures and Report to Authorities
Stunned and in excruciating pain, Tasarirenhamo retrieved his severed organ and placed it in his pocket.

He quickly took Nhira into his vehicle and rushed to the Marondera Rural Police Station to report the shocking assault.

The police promptly arrested Nhira and transferred Tasarirenhamo to Marondera Hospital.

Thereafter, the local hospital transferred the hapless victim to the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for urgent medical attention.

Investigation and Detainment
The police investigation is currently underway, with the Marondera Rural RRB 5568760 case number assigned to the incident. The police memo confirmed the arrest of Mercy Nhira and her detainment at the ZRP Marondera Central DB 1739/23.

Addressing Domestic Violence
Domestic violence and abuse continue to be pressing issues affecting individuals and families nationwide.

This incident is a stark reminder of the extreme consequences of jealousy and unresolved conflicts within relationships.

The local community and advocacy groups are calling for increased awareness, education, and support to address and prevent such acts of violence.

Community Unearths Bishop’s Dark Secrets: Son Found Malnourished and Abused

In a shocking case that has sent shockwaves through Chimanimani, a local church bishop stands accused of unspeakable abuse against his own son whom he locked away for years.

Joseph Nemaramba, a paraplegic young man, was discovered in a deplorable state after two years of captivity in a locked room.

His father, Namatai Nemaramba, a bishop in the Zion Sabbath Christian Church, is now facing serious allegations of neglect, abuse, and even spiritual exploitation.

The Horrific Discovery
Joseph Nemaramba, 21, was rescued by the community, led by Acting Chief Saurombe, after years of isolation.

He was found in a malnourished and injured state, unable to speak or walk.

Joseph’s aunt, Mrs. Susan Mukocheya Nemaramba, had not seen her nephew for years and had feared he was dead.

“He went to school with my son years ago and then shockingly became paraplegic. From then onwards, he was kept indoors. He stopped talking. He was not allowed to have visitors or enjoy fresh air.

“Over the years I would ask my grandson about Joseph’s whereabouts. I was told that Joseph was now staying in Harare, but also concluded that he might have died and was buried secretly.

“I am actually the one who tipped off Acting Chief Saurombe about the issue because one of Namatai’s daughters accused me of bewitching her brother,” said Mrs Mukocheya Nemaramba.

Road to Recovery
After his rescue, Joseph was immediately taken to Biriiri Mission Hospital and later transferred to Mutambara Mission Hospital for medical care and psychological counselling. Thankfully, his condition has improved, and he is now able to converse with doctors and is learning to walk again.

“I still have chest pains, but I am now feeling better. I am now learning to walk at the physiotherapy ward,” Joseph said.

Bishop’s Disturbing Confession To Locking Away His Son
The Manica Post reports that Bishop Namatai Nemaramba later confessed to holding his son captive for two years and causing his illness.

He claimed he believed that keeping Joseph isolated would enhance his spiritual powers and attract more church members.

He even surrendered church items allegedly used in rituals that caused Joseph’s condition.

However, he later alleged that he made the confession under duress, adding complexity to the case.

Acting Chief Saurombe strongly condemned the inhumane act and called for condemnation from all sections of society.

The community is planning to retrieve additional tools of the trade allegedly used in the abuse.

Village Head, Stephany Nemaramba, expressed disbelief over the treatment of Joseph, stating that the room in which he was kept captive was always locked.

The Zion Sabbath Christian Church sect members also expressed shock and disappointment in their bishop’s actions, calling for his resignation.

“Joseph is recovering well. His condition could have been much better if he had been exposed to proper medical care early.

‘‘It is disheartening to know that someone that we respected and acted as our spiritual father would abuse his own child like this.

“He is not worth being a leader and should step down from the bishop’s position. It is clear that he was using his son for rituals to increase his flock. We feel cheated and betrayed,” said Mr Mukuche.

Legal Action Pending
While the matter has been reported to the police, Namatai Nemaramba has not been arrested as of yet. Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Norbert Muzondo, confirmed that they are yet to receive the report.

Acting Chief Saurombe has adjourned the matter to this Sunday, and further legal action is expected.

This heart-wrenching story sheds light on a man of God’s alleged descent into darkness, as the community grapples with the shocking abuse suffered by Joseph Nemaramba during his two-year captivity.

The search for justice and accountability continues as authorities investigate this disturbing case.

SADC Revolution: Some liberals within the bloc inspire new hope in Southern Africa

From the day the SADC Election Observer Mission to Zimbabwe released its preliminary findings and observations on the recently held Zimbabwean elections, no day ends without talk in the Zimbabwean streets about SADC.

Although SADC used to be talked about in an unfavourable manner as a club of dictators, citizens of Zimbabwe are talking about it in a positive manner.

In an unprecedented and probably inconceivable turn of events, the SADC Election Observer Mission (SEOM) opened a can of worms by reporting objectively about the Zimbabwean election.

It is undeniably veracious that since 1980, most of these African observer missions would come to sanitize disputed elections in Zimbabwe.

In spite of glaring and incontrovertible evidence of an unlevel playing field, they would just choose to bastardize the truth, to bastardize the truth on the altar of expediency and selfish motives, but now, the coming of the new Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema and other progressive people within SADC seems to have turned the tables.

Are we witnessing the birth of a new epoch or era in Southern Africa and Africa?, some are wondering. Considering that its observer mission agreed that the electoral process was flawed, what is SADC going to do about the Zimbabwean precarious and perilous situation?

Again, what is to be expected from the conservative and reactionary elements who continue to sing old songs about the Africa revolution against colonialism? Are the shouts about the Pan-Africanist revolution genuine? Isn’t the revolution devouring its own children?

Aren’t the reactionary former liberators plotting to stop the Hichilema revolution and aren’t they plotting the downfall of Hichilema in order to bury him together with his revolution?

Zimbabwe’s 2023 Disputed Election

On the 23rd of August 2023, Zimbabwe held its harmonised elections which many observer missions came to observe. Surely, most observer missions, particularly the SADC observer mission led by former Zambian Vice President Dr Nevers Mumba , noted that the process was fundamentally flawed, it failed to pass the credibility test.

Nevers Mumba and his colleagues noted that the election failed to meet the guidelines of SADC on free and fair elections. “If the process were flawed, the result cannot be legitimate”, Nevers Mumba remarked in one of his interviews after he read the preliminary report of the SADC Election Observer Mission(SEOM).

Note should be taken to realise that the preliminary report was not one individual’s product but a collective report made by more than 20 people from different SADC member states.

Previously, SADC observer missions would just come to rubberstamp disputed elections. Even though it was clear that things were not well, the guys would give the processes a thumps up, what a tragedy!

It is clear that these guys would be told what to say by those who would have sent them. In fact, they probably came with written reports before observing the process.

But this time, the tables have turned. Coincidentally, the Zimbabwean election happened when President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia was and is still chairman of the SADC Troika Organ on Politics, Defence and Security.

The Troika Chairman, in this case President Hichilema, is responsible for appointing the head of the observer mission. The heads of these missions usually do as they are told. Previously it seems they would be told to say that black is white and white is black.

But this time, Dr Nevers Mumba said he was told by President Hichilema to report about the situation as it is. It is known that SADC despots use the principle, “I am my brother’s keeper”. Most of them cannot stand to see the fall from grace to grass of their counterparts.

There’s no witch who can ensure that another witch is exposed, why? Other witches are afraid of becoming the next victims so they protect each other by hook or by crook. “If this one is captured, l might also be captured”, they soliloquize.

But Hichilema is a new kid on the block. He became president under difficult circumstances, the then incumbent President Edgar Lungu tried to stop the idea whose time had come.

Hichilema understands what these guys do. He is now trying to do things properly. He understands that he cannot tell observers to okay a disputed process, they must report exactly what they see on the ground.

This is not to say that Hichilema wants to remove certain leaders, as some propagandists say, but Hichilema wants the truth and the truth only.

He understands that Africa is far behind other countries because of Machiavellian lies. Now is the time, the time to put a fullstop to all those stratagems. Let the truth prevail, Hichilema believes.

Indeed, one can proffer that the SEOM report on the Zimbabwean election corroborates and authenticates beyond any reasonable doubt that Hichilema and some progressive statesmen are breathing new air into SADC.

That Hichilema didn’t instruct them to distort the truth is very commendable. That’s why this author believes that Hichilema is waging a revolution in SADC. A revolution towards progressive reforms that are people-centered. Yes the effort might not be Hichilema’s alone, there are some who must be credited.

For example, the SADC Executive Secretary must be applauded for also ensuring that the Observer mission reports accurately. The Secretariat must be applauded for defending Mumba when he was under vicious verbal attacks from Zanu PF politicians who were infuriated by the report.

The SADC secretariat, in no uncertain terms, declared that the report read by Mumba was not a product of his personal opinions but it was approved by the SADC secretariat before it was published. In fact, what Mumba read is the irrevocable standpoint of SADC on the recently held elections in Zimbabwe.

The electoral process was flawed! It failed to meet the guidelines of SADC on free and fair elections, which every member state of SADC, except the eSwatini (Swaziland) monarchy, is bound by. So Zimbabwe flouted one of the most important regulations of SADC.

That the electoral process was flawed is unquestionably correct. Using Steven Levitsky and Luncan Way’s 2002 article called Elections Without Democracy: The Rise Of Competitive Authoritarianism, there’s completely no doubt about the dubious nature of the Zimbabwe electoral process.

As noted by the two American scholars, “In competitive authoritarian regimes, violations of these rights (civil rights) are both frequent enough and serious enough to create an uneven playing field between government and the opposition. Although elections are regularly held and are generally free of massive fraud, incumbents routinely abuse state resources, deny the opposition adequate media coverage, harass opposition candidates and their supporters and in some cases manipulate electoral results. Journalists, opposition politicians and other government critics may be spied on, threatened, harassed or arrested. Members of the opposition may be jailed, exiled or less frequently even assaulted or murdered. Regimes characterized by such abuses cannot be called democratic”.

The two academics further note that in competitive authoritarian regimes, those regimes which give a facade of democracy when they are in fact tyrannical, four zones of contestation are captured, viz, the electoral arena, the legislature, the judiciary and the media.

When these are captured, the results produced cannot be regarded as the true reflection of the will of the majority of the citizenry.

Using the above analysis, one should note that indeed opposition politicians like Job Sikhala and Jacob Ngarivhume were jailed on trumped up charges. Towards the election, an opposition MP candidate in Glen View, Grandmore Hakata was arrested together with 39 of his supporters.

An opposition supporter Tinashe Chitsunge was murdered in cold blood by ruling party supporters at a rally in Churu, scores of opposition supporters were left nursing wounds and broken legs. Judges of the courts were bribed with money in order to pass heavily skewed rulings against the opposition.

The above is some of what was noticed by the SADC observer mission and indeed that is what happened.

Reactionary Propaganda Against Progressive SADC Reforms Must Be Debunked

Even though Hichilema and some progressive liberals within SADC are trying to bring back the lost vehicle on the right way, some reactionary counter-revolutionaries in Zanu PF and the ANC have begun to sing boring, obsolete and antiquated songs about imperialism and neo-colonialism.

Whenever they are caught pants down, in a compromising position, they begin to look for neatly wrapped excuses to attack the voices of the voiceless. By hook or by crook, power must be retained, according to them.

Their arsenal of outrageously dangerous lies is always well-equipped. Even though they are the ones who made the revolution lose its way, blaming others is their most favourite modus operandi.

The most vociferous of all is Fikile Mbalula, the secretary-general of the ruling ANC in South Africa. For the past days, he has been peddling dangerous lies about Zimbabwe. In his wisdom or lack of, in fact in his lack of wisdom, the problems of Zimbabwe are from external factors, viz, Western quest for hegemony.

He is always supported by the disgraced former minister of propaganda in Zimbabwe Professor Jonathan Moyo who is desperately preparing for life after Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa in Zanu PF. These guys, Fikile Mbalula and Jonathan Moyo, supporting Herald lies, always refer to the main opposition leader of Zimbabwe Advocate Nelson Chamisa as “a puppet of the West and a running dog of imperialism”.

In fact, they have shamelessly begun to put the same title on Hakainde Hichilema. Just because they don’t agree with Hichilema policies or in fact, because they are afraid of the reforms he is bringing in Zambia and SADC, they tell the most perilous lies.

If Hichilema chooses to ally with the Western powers, the same way Zanu PF chooses to ally with Eastern powers, what’s wrong with that? This reminds me of what the late and great Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa, once said, “One of the problems which some political analysts make is to think that their enemies should be our enemies”.

He said that in 1990 while in New York City, USA at a town hall meeting after being asked by some why he was hobnobbing , dining and wining with former Libyan and Palestinian strongmen Muammar Gaddafi and Yasser Arafat.

Mbalula has the guts to talk about neoliberalism in his attacks. Paradoxically and ironically, Mbalula is a supporter of Cyril Ramaphosa, SA President, the man who is heavily implicated in the killing of 34 striking mine workers in Marikana, South Africa because of his pursuit for neoliberal profits where he was director at one of the mines.

One wonders if Mbalula knows the definition of neoliberalism or it’s just hypocrisy of the worst order. This Animal Farm style of propaganda must be unmasked and rejected for that matter. Mbalula is bringing the ANC into disrepute. The ANC of the esteemed statesmen like Chief Albert Luthuli, Oliver Reginald Tambo, Walter Sisulu and Nelson Mandela has been hijacked.

It used to stand for democracy but its now slowly becoming a shadow of its former self. On the 7th of September 2023, *respected Zimbabwean academic Dr Ibbo Mandaza was supposed to give a public lecture at the OR Tambo School of Leadership but Mbalula stopped it. Is that democracy?

With characters like Mbalula at the helm, the ANC is degenerating towards authoritarian consolidation. Mbalula knows that the African National Congress(ANC) is gradually losing popularity in South Africa, that’s why he’s recklessly defending Zanu PF because he knows that once Zanu PF loses power, the ANC is next.

The hunger and thirsty for change increase once change occurs next door. The birth of dictatorship in the ANC must be understood in the context of Steven Levitsky and Daniel Zibblat’s book How Democracies Die.

The scholars posit that, “the backsliding of democracy is often gradual, with its effects manifesting overtime”, “people are often slow to realize that their democracy is being dismantled, even if it happens in their eyes”, “the erosion of democracy takes place piecemeal, often in baby steps, none of the steps truly appears to threaten democracy”.

Though it will be met with massive resistance, the guardrails of democracy in South Africa will be under attack. People like Mbalula are the ones who are bent on making sure that SADC doesn’t provide a solution to Zimbabwe.

Progressives like Hichilema and others in SADC will be under serious attack from obdurate and intransigent reactionaries like Mbalula who are not ready to heed any calls for democratic consolidation.

All these name-callings and smear campaigns done by Mbalula, Jonathan Moyo and Zanu PF are rooted in attempts to run away from their shadows. Why is Africa poor? Some nations like Zambia are beginning to progress yet Mbalula and company, a bad company which corrupts good behaviour are turning a blind eye.

What Mbalula, Moyo and Zanu PF don’t realize is that the people don’t care whether the cat is black or white for as long as it can catch mice. The citizens don’t care who’s governing for as long as the government is delivering.

The people don’t care whether you are pro-West or pro-East or you are neutral for as long as you are executing your duties efficiently.

In certain countries like China, Rwanda and Tanzania, most citizens are satisfied with life because their governments have performance legitimacy, that legitimacy emanating from progressive economic reforms.

That makes citizens satisfied and quite a number of them divorce and wean themselves from being too concerned about the prevailing situation in the political terrain.

Mbalula likes to talk about leftism yet his organization and its friend Zanu PF are the most right wing, conservative and anachronistic organisations. The Zanu PF and ANC comprador bourgeoisie are the exact opposite of what Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote about.

The scholars, in the Communist Manifesto talked about a classless society with the proletariats at the helm. Alas, Zanu PF and the ANC continue to destroy the proletariats (workers) through massive unemployment, thereby creating a dangerously unequal society.

Yes the ANC and Zanu PF fought liberation struggles but those are not passports to use to oppress, suppress and depress the masses. By so doing, you empty the meaning of the liberation struggles against colonialism and Apartheid.

As Blade Nzimande, the SA minister of higher education once remarked, “once ama liberation movements sense that they are losing power, they begin to do a lot of funny things, they begin to come up with radical concepts”.

Exactly what Robert Mugabe began to do when his popularity was wanning. He began to talk about imperialism and neo-colonialism yet prior to 1999, he was known for his romance and bromance with the Westerners.

In their book chapter, Colonialism, Poverty and Underdevelopment In Africa, Dr Takavafira Zhou and Peter Machenjera write about this at length. The two scholars acknowledge that indeed colonialism did not leave Africa in good shape through its “robbery economy” but the problem has been immeasurably exacerbated and compounded by African corrupt dictators who have turned “the veritable paradise promised into a bullet to the head and a diet of starvation”, thereby leaving Africa “in bandages”.

While they profoundly acknowledge the negative effects of colonialism, the academics label it “too simplistic and intellectually deficient” to continue to blame colonialism for our problems so many decades after independence.

“For Africa to turn things around, it must take responsibility for its own actions”, the scholars further posit. So, these are the issues that Zanu PF, Mbalula and Jonathan Moyo deliberately fail to comprehend.

All these counter-revolutionaries from Zanu PF and the ANC are the ones so determined to torpedo the SADC Revolution which is credited to Hichilema and other progressives within SADC.

Is SADC Likely To Help Zimbabwe?

Due to disputed electoral outcomes, Zimbabwe has become what some observers have referred to as “the sick man of Southern Africa”, a term that was used in reference to Turkey prior to the days of the First World War of 1914.

Among scholars, it is undisputed that Zimbabwe has never had an uncontested and undisputed electoral outcome. That scenario has adversely affected the Zimbabwean economy rendering it moribund and comatose. If politics is sick, the symptoms also manifest through the economy.

Now, Zimbabwe is again drowning in the sea of a deep crisis emanating from the 2023 harmonised but also flawed elections. What is SADC going to do, considering that its observer mission noted that the electoral process failed to meet the expected standards.

Zimbabwe is a member state of SADC and it is bound by SADC rules and regulations. Can SADC afford to ignore the report of its SEOM?

Though it is impossible for SADC to overturn and nullify the disputed election, it has got a duty to proffer some solution to the current crisis and also help Zimbabwe in ensuring that habitual and cultural reforms take place.

SADC must help us to ensure that we chase away the ghost of disputed elections that continues to haunt and injure our nation.

In the context of seeking to understand, l asked Dr Simba Makoni and Dr Takavafira Zhou on what they thought might happen.

Dr Simba Makoni, former finance minister in Zimbabwe and former executive secretary of SADC (1983 -1994) had this to say, “Hi Clayton, thank you for your communications in connection with the above matter. Here is my response: l think SADC is going to try to help Zimbabwe but they will not succeed in their efforts. They will not succeed, not because they are incapable of helping, but because Zimbabwean authorities are unwilling to be helped.

The SEOM report marks a serious departure from previous SEOMs. Its significance is in the message it conveys to the Zimbabwean authorities and Zanu PF, that they can no longer count on the blind solidarity of regional peers.

Allow me to add a message to the youths of Zimbabwe, that change is in their hands. Regional neighbors or even the international community can only help when/where they see us seriously making efforts to solve our problems. I urge the youths to live the struggle slogan, “WE OUR OWN LIBERATORS”.

Dr Takavafira Zhou, a prominent historian and politician is of the opinion that, “SADC certainly has the capacity to help Zimbabwe resolve the impasse of disputed election results. Zimbabwe cannot afford the opportunity to ignore SADC recommendations as days of splendid isolation are a non-event in the fast moving regional, continental and global geo-political relations of the 21st century. Non-disputable elections results are a basis for reconstruction of Zimbabwe based on transparency, accountability, justice, equity, frugality and thrift”.

Indeed, what these two gentlemen raise is very pertinent. SADC seems, in spite of the disruptive efforts of certain conservatives in the bloc, to be willing to help Zimbabwe get out of the mud.

There’s going to be obstinate resistance from Zimbabwean authorities who are still in denial but a multi-stakeholder delegation to SADC and the AU is the panacea. Not only aggrieved and discontented politicians should go but, in their superb efforts, they should rope in important people like church leaders, academics, business leaders and other key stakeholders from the civic society who will help to amplify our voice to the AU and SADC.

Already, some people who hail from the aforementioned stakeholders have expressed their deep displeasure towards the electoral process.

The Zimbabwe Council of Churches which is made up of not just mainline but widely acclaimed churches like the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Methodist, Salvation Army, Evangelical Lutheran, etc, and senior Catholic Bishops in Zimbabwe have noted that the election was disputed.

Including such stakeholders in the diplomatic offensive to SADC and the African Union will strengthen the case. This will also ensure that if SADC helps us with a solution, the solution won’t be just an elitist pact. It must be a people-centered settlement.

Most probably, SADC and the AU might try to broker for some unity government or a transitional mechanism. But the foresight about the next election should be always thought about so that a provision for the establishment of a credible body that will run elections in the future is put in place.

Part of helping ourselves is coming together so that we speak with one voice to SADC and the AU.

Obviously, SADC and probably the AU are divided about the Zimbabwean crisis at the moment. Yes the SADC and AU revolution is in its infancy but we should make sure that we fuel it by staging an organised multi-stakeholder diplomatic offensive so that dialogue might bring some relief while also preparing for a permanent solution.

After Zanu PF, in 2008, got into power through disputed elections, the AU and SADC refused to endorse the election and called for dialogue. Yes some relief came but we now need better terms if a settlement is proposed.

Considering that SADC and AU observer missions noted innumerable shortcomings in the past election, it is not erroneous to think that they will try their very best to resolve the problem considering that in 2008, despite its problems, a settlement was arrived at.

With progressives and liberals like Hichilema now in positions of power and Influence, what is needed is a concerted and united front of Zimbabweans who help to raise the volume of the voice of SADC and the AU progressives who will help in waging the struggle for a solution from SADC and the AU.

As noted above, the Zimbabwean authorities are allergic to reforms, therefore it is incumbent upon Zimbabweans to be their own liberators through galvanising themselves towards compelling the current government to take heed of the calls from SADC.

Conclusion

Gifts from God indeed, Hichilema and other progressives in Africa need the support of Zimbabweans and Africans in their journey of pursuing the truth while ensuring the jettisoning, abandonment of lies. Most pseudo and fake Pan-Africanists are probably plotting the fall of Hichilema through pumping in a lot of money to ensure that Hichilema doesn’t win the second term in Zambia.

Such plots must be resisted. The SADC Revolution of telling the truth about the nature of the elections must be made to continue. If possible, SADC and AU must be reformed enough to ensure that member states who brazenly flout the rules and regulations are punished with Pan-African sanctions.

I once had this discussion with the late Zimbabwean lawyer Dewa Mavhinga who said to me, “Pan-African sanctions against rogue regimes are the best”.

Teenager given life sentence for murdering his father, stepmother, and three younger siblings

0

The young individual from Alabama was handed a lifelong jail sentence for the murder of his mother, father, and three siblings. One of them was only half a year old.

Mason Sisk was a 14-year-old boy in September 2019 when his family was killed in their home in Elkmont, Alabama.

Four years later, he was convicted of causing the death of five people, and it was considered the most serious type of murder. Now 18 years old, Sisk will spend their life in prison and will not have a chance to be released.

The judge, Chadwick Wise, gave the toughest punishment for the killings, which he described as horrifying, disturbing, and filled with pure evil.
Since Sisk was under 18 years old at the time of the murders, he couldn’t be given the death penalty.

The people who were hurt were his dad, John Wayne Sisk, who is 38 years old, his mom, Mary Sisk, who is 35 years old, and his three brothers and sisters: Kane, who is six years old, Aurora, who is four years old, and Colson, who is only six months old.

All five people in the family were shot in the head and died.

Sisk first told the police that he was playing video games in the basement of his family’s house when he heard the sound of gunshots. He said he didn’t see the killers since they had already left by the time he went upstairs.

But only a few hours later, Sisk admitted to the murders during questioning by the sheriff’s deputies.
He said in a video shown to the jury that he was tired of all the fighting and yeah, he killed them.

Sisk’s lawyers tried to say that the confession was forced, and that the interrogators used a sneaky method to trick the teenager.

They also pointed out that the person asking the questions, former Sheriff Mike Blakely, was found guilty of stealing and leveraging his position for personal benefit in 2021.

A group of people called a jury decided that Sisk is responsible for all five murders in April. He was given a punishment of being in prison for the rest of his life on Thursday.

I can count on one hand the five most dangerous people that I have ever encountered in my career, and Mason Sisk is the most dangerous among them,” said District Attorney Brian CT Jones to reporters outside the courthouse.

Judge Wise’s decision will make sure that this dangerous person will not be a danger to our children.

Wagner Boss Prigozhin, said to be ‘hiding in Caribbean, ‘managed to avoid death’

0

A person from Russia says that it is not true that Yevgeny Prigozhin, who is a warlord called Wagner, died in a plane crash last month. Instead, the person says that he is living a fancy life on an island in the Caribbean.

Dr Valery Solovey thinks that Prigozhin was told about the upcoming airplane crash on August 23rd and managed to avoid dying.

Russia says that all 10 individuals on the plane were killed and they have confirmed this by conducting genetic tests.

However, Ukrainian military intelligence recently mentioned that there is a chance that Prigozhin is still alive. They also mentioned that they could not verify if he has actually passed away.

Dr Solovey, who some people think is a conspiracy theorist, thinks he is hiding on an island called Margarita, near Venezuela.

He has also said before that Vladimir Putin is very sick and all of the times we see him recently are actually impersonators.

Both Putin and Prigozhin are thought to use look-alikes and costumes.

Dr Solovey claimed that Prigozhin made a deal with Nikolai Patrushev to escape from his trick, but he did not provide any proof for his claims.
He told me “I promised to say where Yevgeny Prigozhin is. ”

‘He is currently in Venezuela. ‘ From what I know, he is on an island called Margarita.

Yevgeny Prigozhin was given a warning that someone might try to kill him by destroying his airplane.

‘They figured out the clever method that we saw. ‘

‘After Wagner’s main leaders passed away in the airplane accident, Yevgeny Prigozhin was still alive and in good health. ‘

Dr Solovey believes that Prigozhin may have around 5,000 hired soldiers who follow his orders. If Putin were to pass away, Prigozhin could potentially employ these troops to compete for authority in Russia.

Dr Solovey, who used to be a professor at MGIMO, a well-known school for spies and diplomats in Moscow, stated that Prigozhin is currently having a great time at a luxurious vacation destination.

Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, GUR, said it can confirm that military commander Dmitry Utkin and other members of a mercenary army died in a plane crash. However, they did not mention anything about Prigozhin.

A person speaking for the group said: “We need to make decisions based on true information, so we have to be patient and wait. ”

I will just talk about how we know for sure that Utkin and some people who work with Prigozhin have died.

Russia applauds unexpected G20 ‘milestone’ , Ukraine fumes

0

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said he is happy with a statement made by G20 leaders in Delhi. The statement does not criticize Russia for its conflict with Ukraine.

Mr Lavrov said that Russia was not expecting everyone to agree, but they saw the agreement on the wording as a positive step.

The G20 statement said it is wrong to use force to take over land, but did not mention Russia’s aggressive actions. Ukraine criticized this.

The meeting that lasted for two days also welcomed the African Union as a new permanent member.

The group of 55 countries is invited by India to join. India wants to include more countries from the Global South in the G20.

The largest economies in the world made important agreements in Delhi. They agreed on issues like climate change and using biofuels. However, some people were upset because they did not agree to stop using fossil fuels.

For the second year in a row, there was no official G20 “family photo”. (Simple words) No explanation was given, but there are reports that many leaders did not want to take pictures, because they were upset about Russia being at the meeting.

Only a small number of people had expected all the countries in the G20 to make a statement together, especially on the first day of the summit. The group is strongly split over Russia’s attack on Ukraine last year. Neither Russia’s Vladimir Putin nor China’s Xi Jinping came to Delhi. Instead, they sent representatives of lower rank.

There was a surprise when, only a few hours after the summit began, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that they had agreed on how to word the part about Ukraine in the statement. This part had criticized Russia last year, but now it was made less strong.

Mr Lavrov said at a press conference on Sunday that an important point had been reached.

To put it simply, we were really surprised. We were prepared to protect our choice of words in the text. He responded to a question from the BBC’s Yogita Limaye by saying that the Global South is no longer interested in being told what to do.

The UK and US also mentioned the joint statement positively, but Ukraine, who participated in last year’s Bali summit but was not included this year, expressed that they were not proud of it.
Last year in Bali, most members strongly criticized Russia’s aggressive behavior towards Ukraine. In contrast, the Delhi declaration discusses the harm and negative effects of the war in Ukraine on worldwide food and energy security.

It asks countries to not use violence to try to take land from other countries. This might be talking about Russia, but it says that different people have different opinions about what is going on.

Experts say that the way money and influence are shared among the top 20 economies in the world is changing. It is no longer just the wealthy countries in the Western world that have the most control, but also the big developing countries in Asia.

There were also important events at the summit that focused on making plans to address climate change.

The G20 countries have agreed to work together to increase renewable energy capacity by three times using their current goals and policies. The group represents over 75% of the greenhouse gases discharged worldwide.

India, the United States, and Brazil have come together to create a global alliance for biofuels. The purpose of this alliance is to increase the use of cleaner fuels. The grouping aims to help speed up worldwide efforts to reach the goal of no net emissions by promoting the trading of biofuels made from things like leftover plant and animal materials.

There was also a big agreement between countries in the Middle East and South Asia about building railways and ports, which happened during the summit. The pact is seen as a way to oppose China’s efforts to expand global infrastructure through their Belt and Road project.

On Sunday afternoon, Mr. Modi ended the summit, which had been hyped up and waited for for months. He gave President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of Brazil a special hammer, as he is becoming the president.

President Lula focused on the difficulties that developing countries experience in his speech.

“We live in a world where there is a lot of wealth in the hands of a few, while millions of people still don’t have enough to eat. Our efforts towards sustainable development are constantly at risk, and the institutions that govern the world still operate based on outdated ideas from the middle of the previous century,” he said.

Heavy rain during the monsoon spoiled some events that were supposed to happen earlier in the day. Despite the rain, leaders walked in the rain to honor Mahatma Gandhi, who fought for India’s independence, at the place where he was cremated. A ceremony where trees were planted was changed to become a symbolic action where G20 presidents traded young trees among themselves.

Mr Modi’s government has organized a fancy event, where delegates are enjoying cultural performances, a big dinner party, and excellent Indian hospitality.

However, some disagreements arose, particularly when Mr. Modi held up a sign at the beginning of the summit that said “Bharat” (which is the Hindi word for India). This caused some people to wonder if there might be a potential name change for India.

Mr Modi and his ministers said that the event was a big success and showed that India is a strong global leader.

“We have tried our best to include as many people as possible in this G20,” said Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that India has successfully made sure that disagreements on certain matters do not take away attention from the important developmental issues that are of concern to the global community.

“She said that India’s G20 Presidency has successfully followed through with its actions”.

Rapper Nasty C is under fire after he lost his cool while on stage and punched a fan in Zambia.

Nasty C is currently on a tour with fellow rapper Cassper Nyovest, dubbed African Throne World Tour. On the 8th September they were in Botswana and on the 9th they touched down in Zambia to rock the crowd.

They have also performed in Kenya, Rwanda, Mozambique and eSwatini. The duo will take the shows to about nine more countries including Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Nigeria, England and the United Arab Emirates.

Nasty C Punches A Fan In Zambia
On 9 September, Nasty C and Cassper Nyovest rocked fans who thronged the NASDEC in Lusaka, Zambia. They dedicated their show to late hip hop superstar AKA, who was shot dead in February this year.

Nasty C, born Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, took to the stage and belted songs from his upcoming album, I Love It Here. As he was engrossed in his delivery, one ecstatic fan shook off the event security and jumped onto the stage before running to hug Nasty C.

And it got nasty.

The rapper would have none of that and he punched the fan who made a few steps back. Nasty C followed up with two strong strikes and security personnel ran to grab the stage invader.

If it was not for the security, Nasty C was going to give the fan a thorough beat down. The invader had already fallen down from the punches and force from the bouncers and they yanked him away.

Watch the drama below.

Fans Divided

Nasty C divided fans after punching the fan who invaded the stage during his performance in Zambia.

DME:

“I C he Nasty fr.”

TaMoney:

“Nasty C wants to act like a thug. He should have let security deal with him. As soon as they hit the millions they want to forget the same people that made them rich.”

The 2016 Rigging Activities And The Pre- 2021 General Elections Activities Must Be Probed- Mark Simuuwe

0

THE 2016 RIGGING ACTIVITIES AND THE PRE- 2021 GENERAL ELECTIONS ACTIVITIES MUST BE PROBED ; IT IS DANGEROUS TO LEAVE ILLEGAL ELECTION ACTIVITIES TO POSTERITY AS HISTORY HAS A TENDENCY TO REPEAT ITSELF WHEN PERPETRATORS GO UNPUNISHED IN ANY JURISDICTION.

Mark Simuuwe writes…

Leaving acts of treason by attempting to use unconstitutional means of putting leaders in power should not be left to posterity. History has a tendency of repeating itself when offenders go unpunished. Some of the reasons for probing into such matters are well-known as questions to following incidents have not been answered:

1. The details of rigged 2016 elections must be addressed as keeping quiet will leave so many questions unanswered now and in the future, and will create a basis to justify the action when the constitutional method will not seem to work ;

2. The 2016 airlifting of Ballot papers and boxes using ZAF planes to City Airport without other stakeholders with alleged pre- marked ballots leading to the arrest of Hon Mwaliteta and pursing of Mr Siyandenge must not be ignored ;

3. The pre -2021 election registration of infants as voters must seriously be investigated and civil servants involved be nabbed since they are still active in government;

4. The pre- 2021 elections registration of foreigners in Malawi and DRC boarders be investigated and those involved at NRC offices be nabbed ;

5. The printing of ballot papers which ended up being pre-marked must bother all of us ;

6. The local printers who printed the ballot papers that were pre marked must be made to account as such printers are still around ;

7. The persons at ECZ that shared the temperate for ballot papers be nabbed and charged for treason;

8. The people who gave instructions to cancel flying rights to opposition be nabbed for abuse of public office ;

9. The act of systematically censoring the journalists to go to Witness the printing of ballots be taken as abuse of public office ;

10. The 2021 Mandevu and Munali fracas by PF carders to attempt to rig the 2021 elections through a well- calculated attack on the polling stations must seriously be investigated as many of such people involved are well known and are around – if left unchecked, they will work towards perfecting the art;

11. Failure by the Speaker to hand over power when there was an active matter of Presidential Petition in the Concourt should not be ignored;

12. Testimony from KBF on Prime TV on how they were meeting judges at night when there was a presidential petition should concern all of us especially that such judges are still active and are now offering fake loyalty to the nation, and KBF is still around ;

13. The 2016 Chingola allegedly manipulated polls be accounted for as an act of treason as mere petitions do not sufficiently cure the problem and are out of time ;

14. The allegedly manipulated results in the Saver room , and the breaking into the saver room and all those involved be investigated as many of them are still active;

15. The manipulation of results on the ECZ website , which was reported on Muvi TV and later led to the closure of Muvi TV be probed as such matters can’t be left to posterity;

16. Campaign messages that fueled ethnic divisions at the expense of clear legal provisions that criminalize the act ;

17.Teachers who were recruited to help with rigging of elections be nabbed and prosecuted;

18. The establishment of Chitulika constituency by decree by the ECZ Chairman then , which has not been corrected remains unanswered; and

19. The nabbed men with pre marked ballots in Kanyama Constituency remains unaccounted for.

My view is that leaving such matters unresolved has the potential to cause future tensions given that many of the culprits or people that were involved are still active in the system ; many of them especially on NRC registration of foreigners and infants are still active in the system . Nothing stops them from using the same method in future elections.

Such unanswered questions should never be left to posterity . They should concern all of us . Citizens will never know till eternity what really happened.l if nothing is done .

All of us are aware that there willl serious attempts to rig the 2021 elections , equipment for rigging was allegedly purchased and centers for rigging were also established in Chilenje and some in Northern province, yet nobody will tell a story if these matters are not resolved. History has a tendency to repeat itself when perpetrators are left unpunished.

Intense Programme Of Economic Engagements Awaiting President Hichilema In China

Mr Clayson Hamasaka Writes;

INTENSE PROGRAMME OF ECONOMIC ENGAGEMENTS AWAITING PRESIDENT HICHILEMA IN CHINA 🇨🇳

10th September 2023

Republican President Hakainde Hichilema and First Lady Madam Mutinta Hichilema are expected to arrive for a State Visit here in China at the invitation of His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China 🇨🇳.

A tight programme awaits President Hichilema and his entourage here as part of his continued foreign policy agenda anchored on Economic Diplomacy.

He is scheduled to visit and interact with key players in various sectors of the Chinese economy such as Energy, Infrastructure, Tourism, Mining and Manufacturing, among others.

ENERGY AND MINING SECTORS

China is very technologically advanced in the manufacturing of equipment for green energy such as solar and wind power. In this energy mix, they have rapidly accelerated their transition from petroleum propelled automobiles to electrical vehicles. Automobiles in green Registration Numbers signifying electric battery propulsion are many on Chinese roads now, the majority of which are driven as Public Service Transport such as taxis and buses.

The reduction in transportation costs for our citizens if these vehicles were introduced in Zambia, particularly especially now when global petroleum prices are on the increase would offer a great relief. Of course we need to speedily move in installation of appropriate infrastructure to support such innovation like charging points in our roads. Rwanda is so far doing very well in this aspect.

In the economic mix, these electrical batteries are manufactured from mineral components which are abundant in our Zambia’s mining sector. This is a huge opportunity which Zambia’s Chief Marketing Officer wants to push by leveraging on value addition for the manufacturing of these vehicles and their components in Zambia, for both local and regional markets. Already some African countries are assembling these electrical vehicles.

AGRICULTURE SECTOR

Zambia has a lot to learn and adopt from the Chinese particularly in the area of agriculture mechanisation, if we are to improve productivity per hectare in our country. China is the production hub for both high and low mechanisation agriculture equipment suitable for various levels of our farmers.

These are among the many key sectors and opportunities that President Hichilema and his entourage will be visiting and encouraging them to invest in Zambia in partnership with locals.

And with a billion population, China is equally looking for various foods commodities such as beef products, soya beans and wheat among many.

Zambia has to maximize on this incredible Chinese market.

Ministry Of Youth Clinches Scholarship Deal With One Of India’s Top Universities

MINISTRY OF YOUTH CLINCHES SCHOLARSHIP DEAL WITH ONE OF INDIA’S TOP UNIVERSITIES

The Ministry of Sport, Youth, and Arts has clinched a deal with JAIN University of India which will see the institution offer free online training of up to 5,000 Zambian students in skills development and entrepreneurship.

JAIN University is ranked among the top universities in India and offers courses in education, entrepreneurship, research, and sports and currently runs eight campuses across the country.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Acting High Commissioner to India Deliwe Mumbi on Thursday evening, Youth and Sport Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe described the deal as a game changer towards youth empowerment.

Mr. Chileshe says his ministry is happy that the four-day engagement with university management has culminated into the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will be done next month and has further challenged the youths in Zambia to take advantage of the opportunity and attain quality education online.

He says the agreement between JAIN University and his ministry resonates with the Government’s Free Education Policy and the training will widen the scope of opportunities for the young people with an entrepreneurial mind to create employment for others and add to the economic transformation of the country.

He said once trained, Zambian youths will start adding value to most of the agro produce which in most cases goes to waste due to a short shelf life and that adding value to such products is key in increasing foreign earnings as the surplus would be exported to other countries.

He says Zambia has a readily-available market for its agro produce in most of its neighbouring countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, among others.

“The issue of youth empowerment is a multi-sectoral one because youths, who are the majority of Zambians, are in every sector. They are in agriculture, transport, mining, health, education, and so on and therefore, with our cooperation with JAIN University on research and development, we will do a lot.

“One of the things we have discussed is how JAIN University and its team will set up a plant in Zambia for drying food, which they are already doing. The university is currently processing over 22 different products and with the technology they have shown us, we will be able to process fruits and vegetables which we can sell locally or export to other countries thereby creating employment opportunities for young people. There are huge prospects and we are looking at getting 5,000 scholarships for the young people. This is a breakthrough for us as a country,” Mr. Chileshe said.

And JAIN University Senior Manager in charge of International Admissions, Goutam Bhowmick says the university is looking forward to the commencement of the training for Zambian youths soon after the MoU is signed next month.

Mr. Bhowmick says Jain university is humbled to have a delegation from Zambia to carry out its due diligence and expressed satisfaction that the tailor-made free scholarship training programmes for Zambian youths will go a long way in imparting life skills that this would translate into job and wealth creation.

THE ZAMBIA POLICE ACTED WITHIN THE LAW CANCELLING A CHURCH SERVICE WHERE DR. EDGAR C. LUNGU WAS SCHEDULED TO BE GUEST OF HONOR

THE ZAMBIA POLICE ACTED WITHIN THE LAW CANCELLING A CHURCH SERVICE WHERE DR. EDGAR C. LUNGU WAS SCHEDULED TO BE GUEST OF HONOR.
PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE!

Movement for Promoting National Values and Principles wish to reaffirm the stance taken by the Zambia Police of cancelling the International Fellowship organized by religious Ministers from the Pentecostal Churches in Ndola.

It is enshrined in the Zambian Constitution that whenever a public gathering is being organized whether a religious one or a private gathering, the Organizers are expected to notify the Zambia Police at least a week before the event take place. Among the religious groupings known to conduct large gatherings include Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Annually Jehovah’s Witnesses hold large gatherings across the Country. Prior to any gathering to take place, organizers of such assemblies and conventions notify the police and seek their consent. Large gatherings are different from local meetings conducted every week in various churches.

The planned International Fellowship organized by the Pentecostal Churches was going to attract huge numbers of people. We wish to educate the general public about the need to inform authorities about public gatherings held in any location. It must be noted by everyone that any public gathering attract the attention of the Special Branch or representatives from Office of the President who are assigned to follow proceedings of any gathering.

At every gathering, chances are high that sensitive information could be disseminated that may pose danger and risk to the Nation. Even when Organizers of such events mean well, there is no guarantee that others might not take advantage of the situation. No wonder the organizers of every gathering are held accountable about any information that might endanger the Nation.

CURIOSITY SURROUNDING DR. EDGAR C. LUNGU.

Besides, the State has every reason to be curious and suspicious about movements of the former President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Although Dr. Lungu has not yet come out publicly to announce his intentions of getting back into active politics, it is in public domain about his agenda. Rather than idling and harnessing his intentions, we are challenging Dr. Lungu to come out publicly and make his intentions known. We would be sad if he chose the route of President Shadreck Chiluba who allowed the Country to be divided at his own expense.

Candidly speaking, Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu has already started mobilizing and campaigning for his possible re – election. Any discerning person can attest to the plans and intentions of the former ruling Party – the Patriotic Front. As an Organization, we have deduced and concluded that the former President is testing the political waters, his fortunes and chances of his reelection in the Country.

EXPOSING THE HYPOCRISY OF THE CHURCH IN ZAMBIA.

We wish to denounce the hypocrisy of some Churches in the Country. So far some religious denominations are being used as conduits in facilitating the return of President Lungu into power. We are aware about some secrete meetings and engagements that have been taking place among some religious denominations.

Some clergymen who were initially opposed to the coming back of Dr. Lungu into politics have suddenly gone mute. The Patriotic Front Party has also halted the plans of holding the Convention without giving genuine reasons.

Every day, it is becoming apparent and imminent about the intentions and plans of the Patriotic Front. We are not ignorant about what is going on in the political realm.

Recently we witnessed the hypocrisy of the Church Mother Body in Zambia who chose to stand aloof to the proposed private bill of reintroducing the Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs. Surely we could have appreciated seing the Church advocating for the reinstatement of the Ministry that could have taken the lead in promoting matters of worship in the Country. We are therefore disappointed by the allegiance of the Pentecostal Churches especially for preferring conferring with politicians than helping masses of people to gain salvation.

OUR APPEAL TO THE FORMER PRESIDENT.

As an Organization taking the lead in promoting National Values and Principles, we wish to candidly and openly render advice to His Excellency the sixth Republican President to rethink and deeply reflect about his intentions of wanting to get back into active politics.

Just as the common adage says, ‘ not all that glitters is gold ‘, many times what looks to be opportunities turns out to be melediction. President Lungu had his precious privilege of having served as a Republican President and many are the good things he accomplished.

President Lungu must be reminded about the critical times we are living in. Worldwide, the economic situations are not only terrible but uncertain and unpredictable. We are living in the last days as confirmed in the bible in the book of second Timothy chapter 3:1-5.

Regardless of the sincerity and genuineness of our leaders, conditions are likely to worsen. It does not belong to us human beings bringing about permanent changes in the lives of others. No matter how many times we may change Governments, we are likely to fail.

As an Organization, we are appealing to President Edgar Lungu to remain an adviser and a consultant to His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema. We look forward to seeing President Edgar Chagwa Lungu working in collaboration with the incumbent President!

SAFADA DISAPPOINTED WITH PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS DURING THE OPENING OF PARLIAMENT

SAFADA DISAPPOINTED WITH PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS DURING THE OPENING OF PARLIAMENT

…..Says the speech does not hold water as it left Small Scale Farmers out…

The Small Scale Farmers Development Agency SAFADA says the remarks made by the president during the opening of the third session of the 13th National Assembly on Friday, despite giving hope to Zambians does not hold water and is relatively empty because some critical issues were not addressed.

SAFADA Executive Director Boyd Moobwe said the president told the nation that government would introduce a public loan facility that would engage the public to produce more maize to mitigate the high cost of mealie meal but did not highlight specifically how small scale farmers would be catered for.

“In particular president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has told the nation that the government will introduce a public loan facility that will engage the general public to produce more maize to mitigate the high cost of mealie meal in the country.

The small scale farmers development agency SAFADA is particularly very disappointed because small scale farmers are left (out) in the official speech.” Mr.Moobwe said.

SAFADA has since appealed to president Hakainde Hichilema to clarify more in details as to how the small scale farmers will be assisted to become key players in maize production and other crops to ensure nationl food security is maintained.

“The plan to open up a window to public servants to venture into crop production is a good idea but will affect the mealie meal manufacturing companies and small scale farmers will have no better matter. The Government is not clear on this matter because there have been a lot of pronouncement such as the 12 million US dollars through the Ministry of small and medium enterprise, And loan facility to be introduced assist farmers who are not on FISP to obtain a loan.”

He added that Government on the contrary is talking about an open window to allow the public get a loan to venture into maize production in order to address the current situation of high cost of mealie meal in the country.

SAFADA is against this approach saying it does not promote the agriculture sector and the Ministry of agriculture to spearhead agriculture production..

“The speech to some extent does not hold water but running water which shall be dry after sometime.” Mr Moobwe charged.

SAFADA has since appealed to president Hakainde Hichilema to engage technocracats and agricilture consultants to review his speech and that it must be debated in parliament in order to arrive to a general consensus on how to drive the ZAMBIAN economy that will benefit the entire country.

He said that the president did not talk about the extension service but went on to highlight on the education and health sectors, leaving the agriculture sector behind.

He said SAFADA is not well convinced that small scale farmers in zambia will be assisted strongly hence the farmers will be demolished and the stituation will allude extensive poverty .

“Government should note that the manufacturing companies like milling company will loss market and small scale farmers will be suspressed.” Mr Moobwe said.

African Union becomes permanent member of G20

0

The group of the world’s 20 leading economies is welcoming the African Union as a permanent member, a powerful acknowledgement of Africa as its more than 50 countries seek a more important role on the global stage.

U.S. President Joe Biden called last year for the AU’s permanent membership in the G20, saying it’s been “a long time in coming.” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the bloc was invited to join during the G20 summit his country is hosting this week.

The African Union has advocated for full membership for seven years, spokesperson Ebba Kalondo said. Until now, South Africa was the bloc’s only G20 member.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR AFRICA?

Permanent G20 membership signals the rise of a continent whose young population of 1.3 billion is set to double by 2050 and make up a quarter of the planet’s people.

The AU’s 55 member states, which include the disputed Western Sahara, have pressed for meaningful roles in the global bodies that long represented a now faded post-World War II order, including the United Nations Security Council. They also want reforms to a global financial system – including the World Bank and other entities – that forces African countries to pay more than others to borrow money, deepening their debt.

Africa is increasingly courting investment and political interest from a new generation of global powers beyond the U.S. and the continent’s former European colonizers. China is Africa’s largest trading partner and one of its largest lenders. Russia is its leading arms provider. Gulf nations have become some of the continent’s biggest investors. Turkey ’s largest overseas military base and embassy are in Somalia. Israel and Iran are increasing their outreach in search of partners.

African leaders have impatiently challenged the framing of the continent as a passive victim of war, extremism, hunger and disaster that’s pressured to take one side or another among global powers. Some would prefer to be brokers, as shown by African peace efforts following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Granting the African Union membership in the G20 is a step that recognizes the continent as a global power in itself.

WHAT DOES THE AFRICAN UNION BRING TO THE G20?

With full G20 membership, the AU can represent a continent that’s home to the world’s largest free trade area. It’s also enormously rich in the resources the world needs to combat climate change, which Africa contributes to the least but is affected by the most.

The African continent has 60% of the world’s renewable energy assets and more than 30% of the minerals key to renewable and low-carbon technologies. Congo alone has almost half of the world’s cobalt, a metal essential for lithium-ion batteries, according to a United Nations report on Africa’s economic development released last month.

African leaders are tired of watching outsiders take the continent’s resources for processing and profits elsewhere and want more industrial development closer to home to benefit their economies.

Take Africa’s natural assets into account and the continent is immensely wealthy, Kenyan President William Ruto said at the first Africa Climate Summit this week. The gathering in Nairobi ended with a call for fairer treatment by financial institutions, the delivery of rich countries’ long-promised $100 billion a year in climate financing for developing nations and a global tax on fossil fuels.

Finding a common position among the AU’s member states, from the economic powers of Nigeria and Ethiopia to some of the world’s poorest nations, can be a challenge. And the AU itself has long been urged by some Africans to be more forceful in its responses to coups and other crises.

The body’s rotating chairmanship, which changes annually, also gets in the way of consistency, but Africa “will need to speak with one voice if it hopes to influence G20 decision-making,” Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, a former prime minister of Niger, and Daouda Sembene, a former executive director of the International Monetary Fund, wrote in Project Syndicate this year.

African leaders have shown their willingness to take such collective action. During the pandemic, they united in loudly criticizing the hoarding of vaccines by rich countries and teamed up to pursue bulk purchases of supplies for the continent.

Now, as a high-profile G20 member, Africa’s demands will be harder to ignore.

Ugandan president calls for calm days after security defuse three bombs

0

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has called for calm days after the East African country’s security defused three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted at different locations in the capital of Kampala.

Museveni, who was addressing the nation late Thursday, said there was no need to panic because the country’s army was at the tail end of defeating the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a rebel group blamed for previous bomb attacks in the country.

The ADF, an affiliate of the Islamic State in central Africa, is holed up in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) from where it launches attacks within the country and in neighboring Uganda.

On Sunday and Monday, the country’s security defused IEDs, that had been planted at a church, shopping mall, and guest house.

“I don’t want anybody to start panicking and think there is a big insoluble problem,” Museveni said.

To fight acts of terrorism, Museveni advised the public to be vigilant and report strangers to the police.

The president also issued new directives on churchgoers, tenants and guests at hotels.

“No stranger should enter your bar or church, your mosque. They must be challenged, isolated and reported to the police,” Museveni said. “For hotels and lodges, take the particulars of your guests, and have them show you their IDs with their pictures.”

The president ruled out any amnesty for the terrorists but advised them to surrender to lessen their punishment.

“Even if they surrender, especially the hardcore ones who have been doing bad things, we cannot just forgive them. They have to be held accountable,” he said. “Maybe they may not die. But you might be tried, sentenced, you may get a sentence less than death. That will be better than dying.”

He said the DRC government had given Uganda more permission to hunt for the terrorists hiding there.

“We are going for them. The Congolese government has allowed us apart from hunting for the ones in the forests which we have been doing since 2021, we shall go for these ones who are sending these young people to kill other people,” Museveni said.

In June last year, the Ugandan military said they had busted an ADF training center in the central Ugandan district of Luweero.

The ADF was blamed for the bombings in Kampala in 2021 that left six people dead and 33 others injured.

In June this year, Ugandan security blamed an attack on a school that left 41 people dead, mostly students, on the ADF.

‘There were reports coming through on Moroccan media caution individuals not to go back into their homes,’ he said. ‘This was a across the country message that was put out by the specialists.

‘So, you have got this abnormal evening of nearly each single town in Morocco, most individuals are sitting on the ground exterior of their houses or flat pieces, since they were anxious of the moment seismic tremor which they anticipated would come two hours afterward.

‘Thank God it didn’t.’
Prof Charge McGuire, Teacher Emeritus of Geophysical & Climate Hazards at UCL, said: ‘Morocco isn’t the primary put that comes to intellect when individuals think of seismic tremors, but they do happen.

‘This one, in any case, is particularly expansive for the locale – the greatest in more than 120 a long time – and, as the climbing passing toll demonstrates, dangerous.

‘The issue is that where dangerous seismic tremors are uncommon, buildings are basically not developed heartily sufficient to manage with solid ground shaking, so numerous collapse coming about in tall casualties.

‘I would anticipate the ultimate death toll to climb into the thousands once more is known. As with any enormous tremor, consequential convulsions are likely, which is able lead to assist casualties and ruin look and rescue.’

World pioneers advertised to send in help or protect groups as condolences poured in from nations around Europe, a Gather of 20 summit in India, nations around Europe, the Mideast and past.

Turkey’s president, whose nation misplaced tens of thousands of individuals in a gigantic seismic tremor prior this year, was among those proposing help. France and Germany, with huge populaces of individuals with Moroccan beginnings, moreover advertised to assist.

And the pioneers of both Ukraine and Russia communicated back for Moroccans.

The Moroccan government has not formally inquired for offer assistance, a step required in arrange for exterior protect groups to be brought in.

The USGS said the epicenter was 11 miles underneath the Earth’s surface, whereas Morocco’s seismic office put it at seven miles down. Such shallow shakes are more unsafe.

Beginning reports propose harms and passings were extreme all throughthe Marrakech-Safi locale, which more than 4.5 million individuals call domestic, concurring to state figures.

Seismic tremors are generally uncommon in North Africa. Lahcen Mhanni, Head of the Seismic Checking and Caution Division at the National Organized of Geophysics, told 2M TV that the seismic tremor was the most grounded ever recorded within the mountain locale.

In 1960, a size 5.8 tremor struck close the Moroccan city of Agadir and caused thousands of passings.

The Agadir shudder incited changes in development rules in Morocco, but many buildings, especially provincial homes, are not built to resist such tremors.

17 persons detained in Cuba for ‘enlisting fighters for Russia in Ukraine’

0

Cuban authorities have caught 17 individuals for trying to get Cubans to join the fight for Russia in Ukraine.

The person in charge of investigating crimes in Cuba’s interior ministry, Cesar Rodriguez, said that out of the 17 people who were arrested, at least three of them were involved in trying to recruit others.

He didn’t say who the people in the network were, but he mentioned that they had been in trouble with the law before.

On Friday, a few families started to voice their opinions about the situation. One mother said that her son was assured a job in building things in Russia.

Cuba’s government found out that a group from Russia was trying to convince Cubans in Russia and Cuba to join them in fighting in Ukraine.

They said the police were trying to stop and take apart the network.

The foreign ministry said in a news release that Cuba is not involved in the war in Ukraine.

Cuba and Russia are friends in politics and Cubans can visit Russia without needing a visa.
In May 2023, a newspaper in Ryazan, Russia, reported that some people from Cuba signed up to join the army at a military recruitment office there. The city of Ryazan is located about 100 miles southeast of Moscow.

The Ryazanskiye Vedomosti newspaper reported that some Cubans were in Russia to assist with completing tasks in a special military operation area.

It also said that some of them want to become citizens of Russia in the future.

In Havana, lawyer Jose Luis Reyes said on the state TV that authorities are looking into people who have done crimes like working as a soldier for hire or convincing others to become soldiers for hire. These individuals might be punished with up to 30 years in jail, life imprisonment, or even the death sentence.

Marilin Vinent, who is 60 years old, said on Friday that her son Dannys Castillo, who is 27 years old, is one of the Cubans chosen to work in Russia.

She told me that her son and some other Cubans went to Russia at the end of July from their home in Havana. They were offered job opportunities in construction.

‘Everyone was tricked,’ she said.

She showed pictures of her son on her phone to the reporters. Some of the pictures showed him wearing military clothes.

She said that her son told her he agreed to go to Russia because he wanted to financially support the family. The island is going through tough times economically, with people not having enough of certain things.

I’m not sure if my son is alive. She said we have no knowledge about anything. I want to have a conversation with him.

In Russia, people from other countries can join the army if they sign an agreement with the defense ministry.

Starting from September 2022, foreigners who have spent a year serving in the Russian army can apply for Russian citizenship in an easier way, without needing to get a residency permit beforehand.

Russian media recently reported that the government is not allowing Tajik people to become citizens until they sign a contract with the defense ministry and join the army.

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 83, to run for office again

0

Nancy Pelosi, who used to be in charge of the US House of Representatives, plans to run for re-election next year in November.

Mrs Pelosi, who is 83 years old, was chosen by the people in her San Francisco area to represent them in 1987. She then had two separate times when she was the leader, called the speaker, from 2007 to 2011 and from 2019 to 2023.

She was in charge of the Democrats in the House of Representatives for twenty years before stepping down as leader when the Republicans won last year’s election.

Her choice to run again is likely to start debate again about how old US political leaders should be.

Ms Pelosi wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, that our City needs us to advance San Francisco values and continue our recovery.

Our country wants America to demonstrate to the world that our flag is still flying, representing freedom and fairness for everyone. That’s why I want to be elected again – and kindly ask for your vote.

Mrs Pelosi is the first woman ever to be the speaker of the House in the United States. She has been very important in either helping or stopping the plans of many presidents.

She is given a lot of recognition for helping to pass the important healthcare law under former President Barack Obama, as well as laws about building things like roads and dealing with climate change under current President Joe Biden.

Mrs Pelosi openly disagreed with Donald Trump during his time as president, and she became well-known for tearing up a copy of his State of the Union address while he wasn’t looking.

She resigned as the leader of the Democratic party when the Republicans won back control of the House of Representatives in the election last year. Kevin McCarthy was chosen as the speaker of the House after a long selection process.

The choice to leave the highest position has caused people to think that she might retire after the 2024 midterm election.

But according to the US media, she told her top advisers and activists at a morning meal on Friday that she plans to run for another term as an official before officially announcing it later.

She decided to run for a 19th term in office as the country thinks about how old its top politicians are getting.

Joe Biden, the President of the United States, will be 81 years old when he attempts to get re-elected next year. His expected competitor, previous President Donald Trump, will be 78 years old.

Some people are wondering if Mitch McConnell, the highest-ranking Republican in the Senate, should step down. This is because he seemed to freeze again at a media event last week, which is the second time it has happened in a little over a month.

Most surveys show that most Americans, about three-quarters of them, support age limits for people who work in the White House and Congress.

About the same number of people are worried that Mr. Biden’s age might affect his physical and mental abilities, CNN reports.

Turkish crypto executive sentenced to 11,196 years in jail

0

A person from Turkey who is in charge of a digital currency and his two brothers have been sent to prison for a very long time, each serving 11,196 years. They did this because they stole lots of money from people who had invested in their business.

Faruk Fatih Ozer, who is 29 years old, ran away to Albania in 2021 when his Thodex exchange crashed unexpectedly and took the money invested by people.

He was sent back to Turkey in June and was found guilty of moving illegal money, tricking people, and being part of a criminal group.

Ozer said in court that if he had intended to commit a crime, he would not have acted in such an unprofessional way, according to the news.

“I can lead any organization in the world because I am intelligent,” as reported by the Anadolu agency.

“It can clearly be seen in this company I started when I was 22 years old. ”

The short trial in Istanbul also decided that his sister Serap and brother Guven are also guilty of the same accusations.

Turkish news agencies reported that the people accused were given separate punishments for many crimes against 2,027 individuals, resulting in the total number of years in the sentence.

Long prison terms like this are normal in Turkey since they got rid of the death penalty in 2004.

Adnan Oktar, a religious leader with a TV show, was sent to prison in 2022 for a really long time (8,658 years) for tricking people and committing sexual crimes. Ten people who follow him were given the same punishment.

Prosecutors wanted Ozer to go to jail for a really long time, about 40,562 years, according to AFP.

Turks started using cryptocurrencies to protect themselves from the falling value of their currency, the lira, which started about two years ago.

Thodex was started in 2017 and became one of the biggest platforms in the country for trading virtual currencies.

Ozer became well-known across the country for being very talented with finances. He succeeded in becoming part of the influential group of people who supported the government by making friends with important figures.

However, the platform unexpectedly fell apart in April 2021. The money that the investor had is gone and Ozer is now hiding.

He got arrested in Albania last year because Interpol wanted him. He was sent back to his home country after a long legal process.

Turkish news outlets said that Ozer ran away with assets valued at $2 billion.

The prosecutor’s charges say that Thodex investors have lost 356 million liras in total.

That sum of money was valued at about $43 million when the exchange crashed.

The value of the same amount has increased to about $13 million due to rapid inflation and the decline of the lira in international markets.

Joint Statement from the US and the EU on Support for Angola, Zambia and the DR Congo’s commitment to Further Develop the Lobito Corridor

0

Today, on the margins of the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) event at the G20 in India, the United States of America and the European Union welcomed the recent commitment by Angola, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to develop the Lobito Corridor connecting southern Democratic Republic of the Congo and northwestern Zambia to regional and global trade markets via the Port of Lobito in Angola.

To accelerate this work in partnership with the three African countries, the European Union and the United States are teaming up to support the development of the Corridor, including by launching feasibility studies for a new greenfield rail line expansion between Zambia and Angola. This represents a powerful evolution of the Partnership element of the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment with a collaborative approach that could be replicated in other strategic corridors around the world.

The U.S.-EU partnership will upgrade critical infrastructure across sub-Saharan Africa to unlock the enormous potential of this region. We are excited to join forces to generate economic benefits with our partners in Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Zambia.

The partnership will combine financial resources and technical know-how to accelerate the Lobito Corridor development, including investments in digital access and agricultural value chains that will increase regional competitiveness. This announcement shows PGI and Global Gateway at work, bringing partners together to finance multibillion dollar projects that will help create local jobs, decrease the carbon footprint and improve local economies.

As an immediate next step, the United States and the European Union will support the Governments in launching pre-feasibility studies for the construction of the new Zambia-Lobito railway line from eastern Angola through northern Zambia. This builds on the initial U.S.-led support to refurbish the railway section from the Lobito port in Angola to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Once transport infrastructure connecting all three countries is fully operational, the Corridor will enhance export possibilities for Zambia, Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, boost the regional circulation of goods, and promote the mobility of citizens. By significantly reducing the average transport time, the new railway will lower the logistics costs and carbon footprint of exporting metals, agricultural goods, and other products, as well as for future development of any mineral discoveries.

The United States and the European Union plan to explore cooperation in three specific areas: i) transport infrastructure investments; ii) measures to facilitate trade, economic development and transit; and iii) support to related sectors to fuel inclusive and sustainable economic growth and capital investment in Angola, Zambia and Democratic Republic of the Congo in the longer term. Specifically, this includes developing clean energy projects to increase the power supply to surrounding communities, supporting diversified investment in critical minerals and clean energy supply chains, extending digital access, growing agriculture value chains to enhance local food production for the region’s expanding population and to address global food insecurity, as well as augmenting local workforce training, support for small and medium enterprises and economic diversification. http://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2023/09/09/joint-statement-from-the-united-states-and-the-european-union-on-support-for-angola-zambia-and-the-democratic-republic-of-the-congos-commitment-to-further-develop-the-lobito-corridor-and-the/

Gabon’s new president names interim PM

0

Brice Oligui Nguema, Gabonese transitional president, has appointed Raymond Ndong Sima as interim prime minister and head of the transitional government, announced Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi, spokesperson for the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI), Thursday.

TRANSITIONAL GOVERNMENT TO COME

The spokesperson broke the news on national television in a statement signed by Nguema, who was sworn in Monday as transitional president, without specifying further details. The CTRI was set up by a group of military officers after the coup a week ago, with the officers declaring the overthrow of President Ali Bongo.

On Monday, Nguema promised that a new government “made up of experienced people and people with seasoned skills” would be implemented in the coming days.

Sima, 68, served as prime minister from 2012 to 2014. He ran for president in the presidential elections both in 2016 and 2023.

Nguema also promised a new constitution by referendum, a new electoral code, and a reliable penal code. He pledged to “return power to civilians” and hold “free” and “transparent” elections after the transition without specifying the election date and duration of the transition.

Gabon’s leading opposition group, Alternance 2023, which claims to be the winner of the elections on Aug. 26, has called on the international community to encourage the junta to hand power back to civilians.

OUSTED PRESIDENT SET FREE

Bongo was allowed to go abroad Wednesday for medical checkups, a week after being kept under house arrest since the coup.

“Given his state of health, the former President of the Republic Ali Bongo Ondimba is free to move. He can, if he wishes, go abroad to carry out his medical checks,” announced Manfoumbi late Wednesday.

On Aug. 30, a group of military officers appointed Nguema, commander-in-chief of the Gabonese Republican Guard, to head the transition after launching a coup earlier in the day following the announcement of the reelection of Bongo by the national electoral body.

Nguema, 48, noted that the military took “their responsibilities” in the face of an “outrageously biased electoral process,” referring to the coup. “The defense and security forces of our country took their responsibilities by refusing the electoral coup,” he explained.

Bongo, 64, once served as minister of defense and other posts in the government. He was elected president of Gabon in 2009 and was reelected in 2016. He was put under house arrest, while some of his advisers and senior officials, including his son Noureddin Bongo Valentin, were said to have been arrested for treason, embezzlement, and corruption, among other allegations.

PENDING ROADMAP

In response to the coup, the African Union suspended Gabon’s membership last Thursday, followed by the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), a regional bloc that Gabon is a member of, until the return to constitutional order in the country.

The ECCAS on Monday appointed President of the Central African Republic Faustin-Archange Touadera as facilitator for the democratic process in Gabon, while ordering the temporary relocation of the institution’s headquarters from Libreville, the capital of Gabon, to Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea.

“ECCAS appointed me as a facilitator (…) to draft a roadmap enabling a swift return to constitutional order, with the agreement of the interim president,” Touadera said in brief remarks on Gabonese television late Wednesday during his visit to Libreville from Tuesday to Wednesday.

“Unanimously, I think that the population appreciated the action taken by the committee, which preserved the peace and avoided a bloodbath,” assured Touadera. “But we must continue to work within the framework of this facilitation with the Transition Committee to develop a roadmap allowing a rapid return to constitutional order.”

CCC spokesman flees Zimbabwe as police offer cash for his whereabouts

Main opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi has fled the country after the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) offered US$1000 for information leading to his whereabouts.

Mkwananzi who led a movement, Tajamuka-Sesijikisile, launching protests against late former President Robert Mugabe’s regime since 2016, is vocal in rejecting the outcome of the 2023 harmonised general election.

ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Mkwananzi has a warrant of arrest for allegedly defaulting court proceedings for charges he faced in 2019.

“Promise Dalubuhle Mkwananzi is facing two counts of contravening the Criminal Law) Act. The suspect defaulted court proceedings and was issued with a warrant of arrest,” Nyathi said.

He also named Clayd Mashozhera and Noel Munhuweyi saying that they are facing three counts of assault and malicious damage to property after allegedly beating four complainants and setting their vehicles on fire in Sunningdale, Harare on August 23 2023.

“A reward of $1,000 (about R19,100) is being offered to anyone who supplies credible information leading to the location and subsequent arrest of the suspects,” police said.

Mkwananzi confirmed that he fled the country saying he did not commit any crime.

“Following protracted efforts to get me detained for no crime other than speaking out against a sham election, I have left the country. I will continue to do my work and fight for change from my new station until the Zimbabwean crisis has been resolved, which is not long, trust me,” Mkwananzi posted on his X.

“I wish to reiterate I have no pending cases with the police. I was cleared of all the flimsy charges previously placed against me. My resolve to fight for change runs deeper than they can imagine. Let us remain peaceful, vigilant and focused on ensuring Zimbabwe holds a fresh and free election.”

Soon after being appointed the new spokesman of the CCC, Mkwananzi had a baptism of fire when plain clothes police officers grabbed his speech and disrupted his press conference on August 26 that was meant to articulate how elections had been rigged.

After outrage over the disruption police later claimed they wanted to arrest Mkwananzi over outstanding warrants.

Zimbabwe held elections on the 23rd and 24th of August 2023. The plebiscite, according to observers, was marred by massive irregularities including voter suppression and intimidation.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa emerged as the winner with 52,6% against CCC leader Nelson Chamisa’s 44%.

Our Attendance Is Not An Endorsement Of Mnangagwa-CCC MPs

Our Attendance Is Not An Endorsement Of Mnangagwa, Says CCC

The Citizens Coalitions for Change (CCC) has said it has not endorsed President Emmerson Mnangagwa after its legislators were sworn in yesterday at the new Parliament Building in Mt Hampden.

The CCC had earlier hinted at boycotting the event in protest over alleged electoral fraud.

The CCC is demanding a fresh election supervised by Sadc and the African Union.

In an interview with NewsDay yesterday, CCC deputy spokesperson Gift “Ostallos” Siziba said their attendance was not an endorsement of Mnangagwa’s victory.

“This is not an endorsement of Zanu PF’s alleged win, but just protocol. We cannot endorse electoral theft,” Siziba said

CCC national organising secretary Amos Chibaya, however, complained that party members were harassed for flaunting yellow ties.

“I think it’s Zanu PF members who don’t want to see anything yellow. The yellow ties had no party symbols,” he said.

Zanu PF has 136 Members of Parliament (MPs) and 33 Senators. The CCC has 73 MPs and 27 Senators.

In separate interviews, CCC and Zanu PF MPs said they were excited after being sworn in.

Kadoma legislator Gift Mambipiri (CCC) said his mandate was to fulfil the wishes of the people who elected him.

“I promise that the people’s vote will never go to waste,” he said.

Cowdray Park MP Pashor Sibanda (CCC) said their party wanted to reconstruct the agenda of Parliament.

“We have seen how Parliament has been abused before,” Sibanda, who defeated outgoing Finance minister Mthuli Ncube, said.

Hwedza South legislator Tinoda Machakaire (Zanu PF) said: “It’s not about coming to Parliament to make noise, but it’s about coming to develop and give the nation what we can do, what we were voted for by our constituencies for the betterment of our country.”

Chikomba West legislator Tatenda Mavetera (Zanu PF) said: “Being in Parliament is a mandate that we have been given by the people and we have to represent their interests more and push for legislation.”

Of course, like we said before, this trip has come after a lot of illusions and arrogance accompanied by ignorance on the part of Mr Hichilema. However, we are glad that reality finally dawned and Mr Hichilema came back to his senses and accepted guidance on this very crucial assignment of the future of the traditional Sino- Zambia relations.

This particular trip is important to resolving our country’s current economic and foreign policy challenges and therefore, we expect Mr Hichilema to be honest and sincere with the leaders of China by committing to the following:

• Mr Hichilema should sincerely and uncompromisingly stick to and reaffirm Zambia’s support for the One- China policy and unequivocally state that the government of the People’s Republic of China, under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, is the sole legal representative of the Chinese people, and denounce US interference in the internal affairs of China over Taiwan.

• Mr Hichilema should be honest with the leadership of China and explain the presence of AFRICOM in Zambia since the US government has made it clear that the purpose of AFRICOM is to counter Chinese and Russian expansion in Africa. China has been mentioned in this issue, so it’s only right that as the host of AFRICOM, Mr Hichilema assures the Chinese government over this issue.

• Mr Hichilema must seek technical and bilateral support from the Chinese government in order to operationalise TAZARA to full capacity. This move will positively impact the railway industry and subsequently translate into higher bulk and heavy cargo inflows for import and export via the railway network. Further, this will also increase the lifespan of our road network. The Chinese are very passionate about TAZARA because it signifies two things: the long-standing relationship between our two countries, and the beginning of the most iconic and awe- inspiring engineering feats done by China in Africa.

Below is the guidance we provided to Mr Hichilema in July this year over his maiden trip to China:

After a lot of illusions and arrogance accompanied by ignorance, finally, Mr Hakainde Hichilema has conceded to guidance on the need to respect and uphold the traditional friendship between Zambia and China, and will embark on a state visit to the country next month (August).

We are glad that eventually, commonsense has prevailed over Mr Hichilema’s big-headedness and diplomatic ignorance on this matter of major interest to our country and its people.

Sino-Zambia relations are a traditional friendship established by the founding leaders of a senior generation of the two countries, Chairman Mao Zedong and Dr Kenneth Kaunda. And these relations have withstood the test of time because they have always been anchored in mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.

And so, as Mr Hichilema heads to China next month, he should take into account a few critical issues to enable him to represent our people and country well and prevent possible embarrassments to the country and himself as a leader:

• Let Mr Hichilema firmly and uncompromisingly stick to and reaffirm our country’s support for the one-China policy and unequivocally state that the government of the People’s Republic of China, under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, is the sole legal representative of the Chinese people, and denounce US interference in the internal affairs of China over Taiwan.

• Mr Hichilema must appreciate that strengthening Sino-Zambia ties and China-Africa friendship and cooperation in general has always been a vital cornerstone of China’s foreign policy. And the Chinese have always been willing to work with Africa with mutual respect and equality in order to open up and advance new prospects of cooperation with practicality on a win-win basis.

• Mr Hichilema should realise that prostitution is for brothels and not for foreign relations. There is a need to stick to our traditional non-aligned policy and not allow our country to become an agent of US imperialism and its hegemonic agenda, and not allow AFRICOM to establish itself in our country.

• Mr Hichilema must exchange in-depth, genuine and unswerving views on Sino-Zambia ties with President Xi Jinping in order to deepen mutual trust, confidence, and cooperation between our two countries. There is no need for Mr Hichilema to start prostituting around clear matters of foreign policy, because the Chinese have always been consistent, sincere, and have helped Zambia in the cause of national development since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1964. The Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA) line is one of the many historical testimonies to their genuineness and dedication.

• Mr Hichilema must realise that in order for Zambia to carry forward and sustain this inherited, traditional friendship between the two countries, frequent visits and exchanges are the surest way of cementing friendships closer and tighter. There was no need to wait this long to take this important trip, particularly when one considers the longstanding relationship Zambia shares with China.

• Mr Hichilema must value the relevant cooperation plans from China and seek to expand them in areas such as technology, agriculture, commerce and trade, infrastructure, and so on, to enable Zambia to realise economic stability and self-development.

• Mr Hichilema must also guarantee the legal rights of Chinese enterprises operating in Zambia and not harass them at the instigation of his friends – the US – and other imperialist governments he is fraternising with.

As we have always said, this particular state visit is crucial to resolving Zambia’s current economic glitches, and Mr Hichilema must attach importance and honesty to this engagement. Let him not go to China with the usual diplomatic illiteracy he parades – egocentricity and his habitual lies – because the people he is going to meet are not fools. They are well ahead of him and very refined. They have already studied his personality, inclinations, intellect, emotions, behaviours, and so on.

They will give him the full honours, ceremonies and pomp, which he seems to be enjoying so much lately, but if he proves to them that he is not a man of his word, they will never respect him as a decent human being, and that will be a great shame in the diplomatic history of our country, because China has been “a good friend, partner and brother” to Zambia and the Chinese have always held successive leaders of this country in high esteem and trust since the establishment of Sino-Zambia relations.

The die is cast. Zambia is watching!

STATE STILL NOT READY IN DR. M’MEMBE’S MATTER…says they await consent from the DPP

STATE STILL NOT READY IN DR. M’MEMBE’S MATTER

…says they await consent from the DPP

Lusaka… Friday, September 8, 2023 ( Smart Eagles)

The matter in which Socialist Party President Dr Fred M’membe is charged for alleged communication of certain Information has failed to take off.

This is because the state is still waiting for consent from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Particulars of the offence are that Dr M’membe on 21st July, 2023 in Lusaka without authority from the authorised officer did communicate via his Facebook page information namely, the appointment of Mr Friday M. Nyambe as chairperson of the Committee, which information relates to the defence or security of the Republic of Zambia.

The case has since been allocated and “will come up for mention and possible plea awaiting consent on the 25th of September, 2023.”

Speaking shortly after his bond was extended, Dr M’membe said Government must put to trial the High Cost of Living as opposed to taking trivial matters to court.

He said it has become difficult for most people to feed their families because of the high prices of commodities such as mealie meal.

“The high cost of living, we have a statement from CCZ calling on government to deal with the matter of the cost of living, High mealie meal prices, prices of kapenta and other commodities. It is difficult for the people to feed their families. The stress is high, good leaders feel the pain. This is the matter that should be on trial and not wasting time on trivial issues. The issues they are taking to court are trivial issues. I am not the only one calling for that, even our religious leaders are calling for Government to address the cost of living,” he said.

Dr M’membe has condemned President Hakainde Hichilema’s usage of strong words when addressing the public.

“It is dangerous for a person heading the country to issue such statements as mingalato and holding people’s throats…. how can a president talk about holding people on their throats, that is not a recipe for good leadership, it is not a recipe for governing the country well. It is not a recipe for peace in the country,” he said.

With regards to the cancellation of the fertilizer tender, Dr M’membe has warned that the problems in the Agriculture sector are likely to be repeated next year if the Government is playing with the delivery of inputs.

“Already with high prices of mealie meal, if they are playing with the inputs in the agriculture sector, the problem will be carried off to next year. Today, we have high fuel prices, these are the matters they are supposed to concentrate on and not me.”

Bobi Wine asks US, EU to defund Uganda

Uganda’s opposition and National Unity Platform (NUP) party leader Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, has urged the European Union (EU) and the US government to stop funding the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government.

Kyagulanyi said the NRM government is using the funds to perpetuate oppression and violence against Ugandans.

“This is a message to the EU and the Americans, we are not asking you to remove and stop sponsoring the dictator,” he said while addressing NUP supporters at Busamaga Playgrounds in Mbale City on Wednesday.

“This is the time to put to an end the puppets of neo-colonialism. Museveni is an agent of neo-colonialism. He has turned us into slaves in our own motherland,” he added.

The EU, in addition to medium and long-term development assistance, provides Uganda with humanitarian aid through the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG-ECHO) to the government.

In 2022, the EU allocated $36.4 million (Ush135 billion) in humanitarian aid to Uganda. Since 2017, the EU has supported humanitarian action in Uganda with more than $257 million (Ush956 billion) in funding.

When contacted, the Press and Information Officer at the Delegation of the European Union to Uganda Emmanuel Gyezaho said there is a process the organisation follows when responding to comments made by leaders.

“Send an email because we need to contextualise the comments before we respond,” he said.

Efforts to get a comment from Minister of ICT and National Guidance Dr Chris Baryomunsi and Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre and government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo were futile as the former did not answer our repeated calls and the latter’s phone number was off by press time.

Arrival in Mbale
By 10am, several residents had gathered on the roadside in anticipation of the NUP leader’s arrival. Many were singing songs in his praise.

When he arrived, the supporters clamoured around his car to catch a glimpse of the musician-turned-politician.

He was then led to the NUP offices on Pallisa Road to officially open the facility.

Kyagulanyi said the reason for his nationwide tour is not to seek votes but to urge the masses to rise up against the ruling NRM government, which has been in power since 1986.

He said the reason security forces haven’t stopped their nationwide tour is because President Museveni fears reaction of the international community.

“Last time when I attempted to come here and address you, I was unable to. People must be wondering why we haven’t been stopped today by the police beating us and using teargas. We recorded them in the previous election and we went to International Criminal Court. Their arrest warrant is going out anytime from now,” he added.

Butambala MP Muwanga Kivumbi urged the public not to get swayed by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the first son and presidential advisor on special operations.
“Uganda is not monarch. What good can we expect from him after what his dad has done to us? We should vote for change,” he said.
Mr. Zaake Francis, the Mityana Municipality MP, said: “We need a peaceful transition and we are going to take over this government without bloodshed.”

Liberia President George Weah launches campaign for second term

0

Liberia’s President George Weah officially launched his campaign for a second term on Thursday, in front of thousands of supporters in the capital Monrovia ahead of next month’s polls.

Keen supporters of the country’s leader, a former international football star, began descending on a stadium in central Monrovia at dawn for the event.

“I am extremely pleased you put your confidence in me to lead our country over the last six years,” Weah said.

“I owe my accession to the presidency to the hard work and perseverance of my supporters,” he added.

“During our first term, we laid the foundations for peace, freedom of speech, macroeconomic stability, and restoring confidence in the national educational system. I can guarantee that the years 2024 and beyond will be better for all Liberians”.

Supporters wore red berets bearing the logo of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) party as well as blue T-shirts with pictures of Weah and running mate Jewell Taylor, ex-wife of former president Charles Taylor, who is serving a 50-year jail sentence for war crimes and crimes against humanity in neighbouring Sierra Leone.

Many of those assembled were young people who have backed the party since before they were eligible to vote. Sixty-three percent of Liberians are under the age of 25, according to UN figures.

First-time voter Victoria Kpahn, 19, told AFP she was confident of a “first-round victory”, as she chanted CDC slogans.

Weah has been touring the country to test his popularity with voters ahead of presidential and parliamentary elections on October 10, and other major parties have followed suit.

Twenty presidential candidates are competing to lead the country of about five million. Many Liberians say the rising cost of living and concerns over corruption are key issues that will affect their vote.

Many are also worried about possible electoral violence in the country, which suffered back-to-back civil wars between 1989 and 2003 that left more than 250,000 people dead.

Weah has promised to create jobs and invest in education, but his critics accuse him of failing to deliver.

LIES! LIES! LIES! AWE HICHILEMA WAKULEKAFYE KUBUFI!- Fred M’membe

LIES! LIES! LIES! AWE HICHILEMA WAKULEKAFYE KUBUFI!

Mr Hakainde Hichilema’s natural propensity to lie, deceive, and manipulate is out of this world.

To be honest, we have never seen or met any other person who shamelessly lies in such an extreme and uncommon manner with a straight face.

This man lies incessantly to get his way and does so with very little awareness or guilt. He is simply never bothered by his odd behaviour. For instance, just listen to the lies and inconsistencies on the Vedanta/KCM saga. Even the body language is very clear to see. The man has perfected the art of being a liar and manipulator over many decades.

Does Mr Hichilema even listen to himself when he’s speaking? Does he take time to watch or review the footage and sound bites of the commitments and promises he makes on different platforms, to get a feel of what people actually think of him?

It is important that he does so in order to ensure that he has an adequate understanding of what the lies and misinformation he deliberately peddles in public means to the people.

In fact, it’s sad to mention that, when it comes to lies and deception, Mr Hichilema surpasses all six previous presidents who have ruled this country.

Yes, like all human beings, Dr Kaunda, Mr Chiluba, Mr Mwanawasa, Mr Banda, Mr Sata and Mr Lungu had their failings, but this level of lies and deception has never been seen in State House before. They were relatively believable and trustworthy leaders in many ways, especially when it came down to matters affecting the livelihood of the poor and marginalised people and communities of this country.

A leader with a never-to-be-forgotten reputation for being a liar, deceiver, and manipulator like Mr Hichilema is the first of his kind to occupy the presidency of this country.

Kubufi kwena, awe Hichilema wakulekafye!

RETURN OF VEDANTA A CRIMINAL UNDERTAKING- HON MUSUKWA

RETURN OF VEDANTA A CRIMINAL UNDERTAKING- HON MUSUKWA

…………says it is payback time for the UPND to the institutions they worked with during election campaigns.

Lusaka………7th September, 2023 [Smart Eagles]

The handing back of Konkola Copper Mines-(KCM) to Vedanta is simply payback time for the UPND, Former Mines Minister Richard Musukwa has said.

Speaking when he featured on 5Fm’s burning issue, Hon Musukwa insinuated that the UPND were supported by such institutions prior to the 2021 General Elections hence they feel the need to return the favor.

He said the action taken by the Government is therefore a reckless criminal undertaking against the people of Zambia.

Hon Musukwa said the move can only be propagated by ill motives, corruption and is not in the interest of Zambians or Thousands of workers.

Hon Musukwa said the government has just mortgaged the people’s asset to ensure that those who have interest are serviced.

He said this is because Vedanta has no technical capacity including financial prowess to resolve the challenges at the mines.

“It is payback period and has nothing to do with Zambians. We knew this decision would be made because our colleagues in the UPND have no option, they were blackmailed because of legacy issues surrounding the elections. They were working in Collusion with some of these institutions. So now they feel the need to pay back,” he stated.

Hon Musukwa has reminded the people that the problem of Vedanta was an investor’s problem and not Government at that time.

“The action by PF against Vedanta cannot be classified as political cause there are many other investors in the mining industry who were not engaged like Vedanta. The bottom line is government refused to be patronized by Vedanta but rather engaged them on a serious business platform…….,” Hon Musukwa said.

Meanwhile, Hon Musukwa has charged that Vedanta will most likely not fulfill most of the commitments made.

He said the K2,500 will be paid, but they have forgotten that the challenges of the miners are way beyond the K2,500.

Hon Musukwa has challenged Vedanta to pay suppliers and contractors at once.

He said even the $1 billion dollars investment must be paid in one goal because it is a drop in an ocean based on the mines value.

“What these guys are going to do, they are now going to start looking for money, no wonder they are saying that it will take three months,” he said.

He has also noted that if Vedanta works differently, credit must be given to the Patriotic Front for making it realize that workers interests come first.

“If there is any action that Vedanta will take in the interest of the workers, mining contractors and Suppliers then it must be credited to the PF having taken action earlier which taught Vedanta a lesson to behave themselves as an investor.

The Former Mines Minister said is therefore unfortunate that the same Unions that called for Government to take action against Vedanta are the ones that propagated for its comeback.

Great coincidences exist between Christianity and socialism- Fred M’membe

Great coincidences exist between Christianity and socialism

There are thousands more coincidences between Christianity and socialism than between Christianity and capitalism.

Responding probably to different motivations, they both advocate attitudes and behaviours that are quite similar.

There’s great coincidence between Christianity’s objectives and the ones we socialists seek, between the Christian teachings of humility, austerity, selfishness and loving thy neighbour and what we might call the content of a revolutionary’s life and behaviour. For what is the Socialist Party teaching its members and the Zambian people? We teach them unwavering commitment to honest, equity, humility and solidarity.

We are telling them that our country right now may be too poor to give our people great material wealth, but it can give them a sense of equity and of human dignity.

We socialists believe that Christ was a revolutionary par excellence. His entire doctrine was devoted to the humble, the poor; his doctrine was devoted to fighting against abuse, injustice and the degradation of human beings.

There’s a lot in common between the spirit and essence of Christ’s teachings and socialism.
And the Bible has very revolutionary content. The teachings of Christ are very revolutionary and completely coincide with our aims as socialists.

That is why we believe and openly say that we socialists are not the only revolutionaries. All those who truly follow Christ’s doctrine and devote themselves to the cause of the humble, the poor; and devote themselves to fighting against injustice, abuse and the degradation of human beings and to helping them liberate themselves are all revolutionaries.

Like we socialists, the Catholic social teaching does advocate the protection of property rights, but only when strongly situated within what is called the universal destination of goods. That is, “Christian tradition has never recognised the right to private property as absolute and untouchable: ‘On the contrary, it has always understood this right within the broader context of the right common to all to use the goods of the whole of creation: the right to private property is subordinated to the right to common use, to the fact that goods are meant for everyone.”
(Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church, No. 177, quoting St. John Paul II’s Laborem Exercens). And because God intends the world to provide for the needs of every person, the distribution of resources must allow every human person with what is needed for a full life. Isn’t this what we socialists are advocating for?

In his encyclical “Pacem in Terris,” St. John XXIII explained: “Man has the right to live. He has the right to bodily integrity and to the means necessary for the proper development of life, particularly food, clothing, shelter, medical care, rest, and, finally, the necessary social services. In consequence, he has the right to be looked after in the event of ill health; disability stemming from his work; widowhood; old age; enforced unemployment; or whenever through no fault of his own he is deprived of the means of livelihood” (No. 11). Isn’t this what the Socialist Party’s manifesto is advocating for?

A defense of property, absent that context, functions to absolve those who own property from responsibility to those in desperate need. But Catholic teaching treats the withholding of resources from those in need as a failure of justice, and so private property always comes with a “social mortgage.”

Pope Leo XIII explained in his encyclical “Rerum Novarum”: “[W]hen there is a question of defending the rights of individuals, the poor and badly off have a claim to especial consideration. The richer class have many ways of shielding themselves, and stand less in need of help from the State; whereas the mass of the poor have no resources of their own to fall back upon, and must chiefly depend upon the assistance of the State” (No. 37). Isn’t this what we socialists are seeking?

And what is being advocated by the Catholic social teaching is not consistent with the capitalist social order.

Even on religious liberty, the Catholic social teaching is saying that it must also respect the common good.

As capitalists, with their religious agents, seek to accord special recognition to Christianity or section of it, the “Compendium” says, “Such recognition must in no way create discrimination within the civil or social order for other religious groups” (No. 423). The church’s witness to the Gospel always requires (and Catholics must acknowledge that it often has failed in this) the defense of the well-being of persons who do not accept the Gospel, in keeping with the commands to love both neighbour and enemy. The purpose of the right to religious liberty within Catholic thought is both to make room for the church’s freedom to give witness to the Gospel and also to honour the call of God for every person to freely enter into communion with the divine life. These two purposes are not at odds.
The church’s witness to the Gospel always requires the defense of the well-being of persons who do not accept the Gospel.

The document “Dignitatis Humanae,” promulgated at the Second Vatican Council, explains it thus: “It is…completely in accord with the nature of faith that in matters religious every manner of coercion on the part of men should be excluded. In consequence, the principle of religious freedom makes no small contribution to the creation of an environment in which men can without hindrance be invited to the Christian faith, embrace it of their own free will, and profess it effectively in their whole manner of life” (No. 10).

This makes it important to remember that Catholic teaching says the right to religious liberty “is not of itself an unlimited right. The just limits of the exercise of religious freedom must be determined in each social situation with political prudence, according to the requirements of the common good, and ratified by the civil authority through legal norms consistent with the objective moral order” (No. 422).

And speaking for myself, I can say that the ethical values that are propelling my revolutionary, socialist work came from my Catholic upbringing and education, from my teachers – the Capuchin Fathers, the Irish Christian Brothers and Sacred Heart Brothers. I would even say from my Christian family, home.

I was taught very early in my life that I should not lie. I was taught what was right and wrong, things that should and should not be done. I remember being punished by my Form 1 mathematics teacher at St John’s Secondary School to write 3,000 times, “Oh what a web we weave for ourselves when we first practice to deceive.” I had not done my homework and when asked about it, I lied that I had left it in the dormitory. I was told to go and get it. And immediately after I left classroom, the teacher told the class I was not going to come with any homework. He asked for a bet on it. When I came back empty-handed, the whole class burst into laughter. I have carried these words and memories of that day with me wherever I am and in whatever I do. And I remind my classmates of this incident whenever we meet. That was my baptism out of lying.

Later on, my revolutionary and political involvement began to create in me a feeling of what was wrong, the violation of an ethical standard, an injustice, abuse or fraud. I began to have an idea of what was fair and unfair. I began to have a concept of personal dignity. I think I have always had a sense of justice – from very early on – because of what I saw and experienced.

Undoubtedly, my Catholic upbringing and education influenced me a lot. The Capuchin Fathers, the Irish Christian Brothers and Sacred Heart Brothers inculcated a very strong sense of personal dignity in me, regardless of their political ideas which quite often I didn’t agree with. They valued character, rectitude, honesty, courage and ability to make sacrifices.

The Irish Christian Brothers definitely influenced me with their strict organisation, their discipline and their values. They contributed to my development and sense of justice. Following that path, I came to view abuse, injustice as unacceptable.

If you mix ethical values with a spirit of rebellion and rejection of injustice you begin to appreciate and place a high value on a number of things that other people don’t value at all. A sense of personal dignity, honour and duty form the main foundation that enables people to acquire political consciousness and a revolutionary spirit.

The President’s visit is significant as it is aimed at reinforcing the excellent long-standing bilateral relations and cooperation between Zambia and China. It will build on the previously held key discussions between the two leaders, with the recent engagement having occurred during the China – Africa Roundtable on the margins of the BRICS Summit in South Africa. This visit will also create an opportunity for various Zambian sectors to meet with their Chinese counterparts and deepen cooperation in trade and investment.

During the visit, President Hichilema will hold bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping premised on areas of mutual interest at bilateral and multilateral levels, including Chinese investments in key sectors of the Zambian economy such as energy, infrastructure, mining and manufacturing, among others. As a key highlight of the visit, President Hichilema and President Xi Jinping will oversee the signing of Bilateral Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding in various areas including economic cooperation and investment, which will set the foundation for practical results.

The President is expected to hold meetings with key policy makers including the Chinese Premier, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, and the respective Leaderships of Shenzhen City, Jiangxi Province and Fujian Province.

The programme includes investment and tourism promotion fora in Jiangxi Province and Beijing where captains of industry from Zambia will be in attendance. In addition, President Hichilema will undertake a tour of a poverty reduction village which showcases China’s success in transforming villages into towns and cities with access to all the necessary amenities.

President Hichilema’s visit will provide a platform to strengthen the existing bilateral relations between Zambia and China, and create avenues to explore valuable partnerships and investment opportunities for mutual benefit. Through the President’s high level engagements, Zambia is expected to benefit from China’s experience in development and management of economic zones and the transformation of ordinary towns and villages into economically viable cities. Therefore, President Hichilema’s visit to the People’s Republic of China will enhance the all-weather friendship between the two countries and yield tangible results for improved livelihoods of the Zambian people.

CDF IS AN INVESTMENT, NO ONE CAN AFFORD TO IGNORE – IMENDA

CDF IS AN INVESTMENT, NO ONE CAN AFFORD TO IGNORE – IMENDA

September 8th, 2023.

CHIPANGALI- The United Party for National Development Secretary General Batuke Imenda says the growing numbers of new
members from opposition political parties joining the ruling party follows the waves of investment and development brought in communities through the Constituency Development Fund.

A group of more than 300 energetic and vibrant youths in Chipangali have defected from PF and other political parties to join the UPND at Chisitu primary school in Chipangali Constituency.

Leading the team of new members, charismatic Mr Kambani Phiri ,said his team was tired of political hate speech from some of the opposition parties while the ruling party was working tirelessly to bring resources to the people to invest in their communities and resolve issues affecting them.

“ We has been observing the developments taking place, in the constituency ,bridges are being built, classroom blocks extended and desks made by the local people. Children are now going to school free relieving parents off financial burden. CDF has changed the face of our constituencies nd this is something no one can ignore,” said Mr Phiri.

He added that in the past, development in communities was neglected and central government owned resources while today, President Hichilema has allocated CDF direct to communities and this has changed the face of most constituencies.

“ CDF allocation to all, has proven the commitment of UPND government in inclusive development and building a better future for all.’ said Mr, Phiri

Mr Imenda in his welcoming remarks said that he was so grateful seing energetic youths joining a team working to contribute their efforts towards developing their constituencies.

He said that President Hichilema wants people in communities to take charge and take ownership of all developments taking place in the constituencies because they are the ones who are aware about the problems that need to be observed in the communities.

Earlier Mr Imenda met more that ten village headmen who presented issues affecting the Constituency.

Mr Imenda in his response said that President Hichilema increased the CDF from K1.5m to K25.7m later to K28.3m because he wanted to empower communities, so that they are able to deal with issues affecting them and at the same time use the money to undertake projects that will help them sustain their livelihood.

“ My Leaders all issue you have mentioned can be resolved using CDF because it is yours to use ,” Mr Imenda

UPND has recently continued to grow not by forcing people to join but through the power of inclusivity and belief that a brighter future is possible.

THE ZAMBIAN OPPOSITION’S PRICE OF ENDORSING ZANU-PF

THE ZAMBIAN OPPOSITION’S PRICE OF ENDORSING ZANU-PF

I still can’t wrap my head around why opposition parties in Zambia were probably the only opposition parties in Southern Africa to endorse and celebrate the ZANU-PF victory. They even poured scorn on the SADC observer mission which is supposed to be their ally in terms policing electoral fraud in the future elections.

I can understand why ANC was quick to praise ZANU-PF, they are both liberation parties with a high sense of entitlement for self-preservation and are yet to face a population that has turned the page, away from the liberation pride to the progressive developmental ambition. PF for example is totally different from their “adopted brother” ZANU-PF because it does not even have a clear ideology, because its assumption to power was based on pure populism. That is why PF was able to U-turned from its anti-china rhetoric with a simple handshake to end up claiming to be China’s best friend. Socialist Party on the other hand claims an outdated ideology that even its vision carrier does not practice. The SP members don’t even understand the legal, economic and social reconfigurations, if at all there are any, required to make socialism work. Whilst ZANU-PF has real issues with the west, Fred Mmembe has imginary issues which he is trying to inculcate in the Zambian psyche. This is the mismatch between the Zambian oppositions parties and the ZANU-PF, and that is why there fellow opposition parties in SADC are laughing at them.

What message has PF and SP or even ANC sent to Zambia and Southern Africa by endorsing a fraudulent election? Here is what I think:

1. PF/SP are telling us they won’t rely on the work of the SADC observor mission in 2026, because according to them it is doctored in a language of imperialists. It will be embarrassing in the future for them to ride on any of their concerns.

2. According to ANC, the Zimbabwe elections was a victory for Pan-Africanism, meaning to achieve Pan-Africanism one has to steal votes from fellow Africans.

3. PF and SP are telling us that the precedent set in Malawi’s nullification of election results which prompted SADC to revisit it approach in election monitoring can be squashed and we can reset SADC to default settings of being impotent when it comes to electoral malpractice.

4. PF and SP have deep hatred for HH, that if it means endorsing a fraudulent election in which HH’s purported ally was defeated, they are ready to do that with a straight face.

5. SP and PF are so shamelessness they can associate themselves to an election victory of party that has presided over some of the greatest hardships that any citizens of any country have ever experienced.

6. While we have the pride of having replaced a one party state, shaken off a dorminant liberation party, elected seven different presidents and three different political parties, SP and PF reversed all those gains by going to dine with a dictatorial liberation party that left the rest of southern africa confused.

7. The most embarrassing of all is Nakachiinda who said, “There are lot of positives that Zambia can borrow and learn in the manner the ZANUPF leadership has managed the just ended elections..” This statement mocked most Zimbabweans, it was an injustice on Zambia.

Nigeria opposition to appeal verdict upholding US endorsed Tinubu presidential win

Nigeria’s main opposition candidates will appeal a tribunal ruling that affirmed Bola Tinubu’s victory in a disputed presidential election in February that they claim was marred by irregularities, their lawyers said.

Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, who came second and third respectively, had asked the court to cancel the election, alleging everything from vote fraud to failure by the electoral agency to post results electronically. They wanted Tinubu to be disqualified.

But the Presidential Election Petition Court on Wednesday dismissed their petitions point-by-point in a judgment that lasted more than 11 hours.

The ruling followed a pattern in previous election years in Africa’s most populous country, where no legal challenge to the outcome of a presidential election has succeeded since Nigeria returned to democracy in 1999.

“I am therefore here to tell you that, though the judgment of the court yesterday is respected, it is a judgment that I refuse to accept. I refuse to accept the judgment because I believe that it is bereft of substantial justice,” Atiku said at press conference on X, formerly called Twitter.

“Consequently, I have asked my lawyers to activate my constitutionally guaranteed rights of appeal to the higher court, which, in the instance, is the Supreme Court.”

At a press briefing in his home state of Anambra on Thursday, Obi said while he respects the views of the tribunal, he disagrees with the judgement and will immediately appeal.

“It is my intention as a presidential candidate and the intention of the Labour Party to challenge this judgment by way of appeal immediately,” he said.

“Our legal team has already received our firm instruction to file an appeal against the decision. I shall not relent in the quest for justice, not necessarily for myself but indeed for our teeming supporters all over the country whose mandate to us at the polls was regrettably truncated,” Obi said.

An appeal at the Supreme Court should be filed within 14 days from the date of the tribunal ruling. The apex court then has 60 days to hear the case and make its ruling.

ZAPU accuses ANC of opportunistic relationship with ZANU PF

The Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU) has accused the African National Congress (ANC) of having an opportunistic relationship with the ruling Zanu PF party in Zimbabwe.

These sentiments come after the ANC publicly endorsed Zanu PF’s Emmerson Mnangagwa as the winner of Zimbabwe’s disputed elections, with reports indicating the two southern African ruling parties are involved in “delicate talks.”

ZAPU, which was once allied with the ANC during the liberation struggle in both countries, said the ANC’s current partnership with Zanu PF was based on “gifts and presents” rather than shared ideology.

“We are wise enough to understand that some individuals in the ANC enjoy a political relationship with Zanu PF which is based on gifts and presents more than it is ideological,” said ZAPU National Spokesperson, Msongelwa Ndlovu in an interview with CITE.

“It is a different animal to the ANC of Oliver Reginald Tambo whose foundation was the Freedom Charter. This ANC is doing everything against the core values of the Freedom Charter when it comes to the Zimbabwean question,” he said.

“It is an absolute disgrace for a party which was persecuted for its relationship with ZAPU to shift allegiance only because their nemesis is in a position of privilege. We have been tempted to denounce the ANC and cut ties completely, but we’re aware that the real ANC will never change,” Ndlovu said.

Ndlovu also claimed ZAPU was aware that a South African wealthy businessman, entrepreneur and investor, one Zunaid Moti, was at the centre of “oiling the relationship between ANC and Zanu PF.”

Ndlovu, said the ANC had “molested” the core values of the Freedom Charter, the ANC’s founding document, in its pursuit of personal gain.

Ndlovu also claimed that a South African businessman, Zunaid Moti, was at the centre of “oiling the relationship between the ANC and Zanu PF.”

He said Moti had supported a tour of South African celebrities and regional journalists in Zimbabwe prior to the country’s elections.

Ndlovu remarked that the current leadership of the ANC have hijacked the revolutionary movement in order to commercialise it.

“There is an evident and deliberate purge of freedom fighters in the ANC disguised as a renewal process. The current ANC of labour unionists and student activists is closer to White monopoly capital than it is to the ordinary people whose living shield is the Freedom Charter. We hope that one day South Africans will restore this glorious movement back to its founding values,” said the ZAPU spokesperson.

He called on South Africans to restore the ANC to its founding values.

The Lungus set social media ablaze with night smooch

THE former first couple of Zambia, Edgar Lungu and wife Esther have set the internet abuzz with a passionate evening smooch that marked her release from police custody.

The duo had the world’s eyes glued to their screens as they shared a passionate embrace, defying the odds following the ex-first lady’s recent detention on allegations of theft.

It all began when Esther Lungu, aged 66, was apprehended alongside four other individuals at the Ibex Hill Police Station on accusations of theft yesterday.

In the unfolding drama, Zambia Police Service deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale announced that Police had formally charged and arrested Esther, James Phiri aged 49, Lee Chisulo, 31, Kapambwe Lungu 42, and Catherine Banda aged 30.

The five faced a barrage of charges, including three counts of theft of motor vehicle, theft of a certificate of title for a property situated on stand number S/Lusaka/SLN 0003/2977 in Libala South.

Esther further found herself facing another charge – possession of property believed to be proceeds of crime.

As Esther sat in the holding cell at Ibex Police Station, her husband also sat somewhere within the station making frantic efforts to have her released on bond.

A bandwagon of PF sympathisers were also at hand to keep their boss company until Esther was eventually released.

On arrival home, in a moment on restrained joy Lungu embraced the former first lady and planted his lips on hers right before the glare cameras.

The couple’s romantic moment has created a spectacle for social media for keyboard warriors and sparking an internet frenzy.

Netizens from all corners of the digital realm have joined in creating a viral “Kissing Challenge” that’s spreading like wildfire on social media platforms.

As the five suspects were granted release on police bond, police Deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said the suspects await their day in court to address their charges.

HAT IS WRONG?

By Koswe Editors

It is in black and white that the former first family of Mr Edgar Lungu was involved in a lot of financial deals. No one can dispute this and not even themselves.

However, what is wrong is wrong and our focus today is on the yesterday detention of former first lady Esther Lungu.

Mrs Lungu was reported to the police by her personal relation who she had entrusted with 400, 000 dollars believed to have been stolen money.

This relative of hers instead decided to also steal from her and after stealing, she went and bought herself three vehicles and a house.

Clearly, she knew that Esther and Lungu had enough of these assets obtained using dubious means.

But after losing power, Esther decided that now, it was time to collect all the assets she was hiding in the names of her family members and so, she moved in and demanded for the 400, 000 dollars from this relative who refused to hand bank as everything was in her names.

At several occasions, Esther with the help of her husband sent PF thugs to go and threaten this relative of their’s to give back what was due to them but she told them that there was nothing.

After torture from the PF thugs, their relative disclosed that she had bought two vehicles and a house using the 400, 000 dollars.

And it was at this stage where Esther and Lungu grabbed the said items including the title and white books but this relative of their’s had photocopies of the same and so, after they got them, she also reported to the police that someone had stolen her vehicles and was claiming her house.

Now, here is the twist of fate. When Esther’s relative realised that things were not moving accordingly, she reported the matter of vehicle thefts and a house.

As per the report, police started investigations and when they checked the documents and ownership of the said properties, police summoned Esther Lungu so that she can give her side of the story.

In fact, even without Koswe investigating this issue, you can clearly see that it is an issue of family members stealing from each other but using government funds or underhand funds.

Now that Koswe has told you the truth. How would you, as a normal human being blame President Hakainde Hichilema for this clear cut family matter?

Unless one thinks in reverse. Esther, Edgar and their relative must reconcile and stop washing their dirty linen or indeed thefts in public.

If Esther will be found wanting and be jailed by the law, it will be the law at play engineered by her relative and not anyone in any political office.

Koswe has also established that the relative has been crying day and night that the said house is the only house where she can stay with her child whose father died and that Esther and Lungu have plenty of assets but just want to punish her.

This is a pure case of theft by one family. Its theft by trickery. They stole from each other and now reporting each other to the police.

Let the law take its course.

In fact, the UPND government must avoid getting involved in family matters such as this by allowing the law to take its course. No one is above the law. We have seen UPND cadres being sent to jail and we have seen PF thugs hacking UPND members and to now want to cry wolf after stealing from each by the Lungu family is pure lack of thinking.
