OPPOSITION ZAMBIA MUST PROSPER DOUBTS PROSPECTS OF A UNITED OPPOSITION

OPPOSITION ZAMBIA MUST PROSPER DOUBTS PROSPECTS OF A UNITED OPPOSITION

Opposition Zambia Must Prosper President, Kelvin Fube Bwalya, has expressed doubt over calls from various stakeholders for a united opposition front.

Mr. Bwalya said he is sceptical that such calls can be realized, describing the current opposition as fragmented and driven by differing values that, in his view, do not prioritize the interests of ordinary Zambians.

Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Mr. Bwalya claimed that some alliances are formed to advance personal interests rather than serve the public.

“As long as opposition political parties do not change their language and align their vision with the aspirations of the people, a united force may not be possible,” said Mr. Bwalya.

He stressed the need for opposition parties to ensure they put the interests of Zambians first.

However, Mr. Bwalya did not rule out the possibility of a united opposition, stating that party leaders would need to set aside their egos for the benefit of the nation.

Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Reportedly Killed in Airstrike

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the former president of Iran, has been reportedly killed after his residence in Tehran’s Narmak district was struck during a wave of U.S. and Israeli military strikes late Saturday, according to multiple media reports.

The Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA) and other state-affiliated outlets reported that Ahmadinejad, who served as president from 2005 to 2013, was killed alongside several of his bodyguards when the building was hit. He was later appointed as a member of the Expediency Discernment Council, an advisory body for the Supreme Leader.

The reported death comes amid one of the most significant escalations in Middle East tensions in years. The strikes on Tehran also killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with other senior officials. In response, Iran has launched retaliatory missiles toward the region, raising fears of a broader conflict.

Ahmadinejad was a polarizing figure whose presidency was marked by a confrontational foreign policy, the accelerated development of Iran’s nuclear program, and internally disputed elections in 2009 that triggered massive protests. He had remained politically active in recent years despite falling out of favor with Iran’s clerical establishment.

Trump Pushes for Rapid End to Iran Conflict After De∆dly Opening Strikes – Ceasefire Offer Rejected by Tehran

Breaking News: Trump Pushes for Rapid End to Iran Conflict After De∆dly Opening Strikes – Ceasefire Offer Rejected by Tehran

In a dramatic escalation, U.S. President Donald Trump is seeking a swift conclusion to the ongoing military operation against Iran following a precision opening strike that eliminated Supreme Leader Ay∆tollah ∆li Kh∆menei and several top Iranian military officials, including the defense minister, chief of staff, and Revolutionary Guard commander.

U.S. officials had originally planned a brief 4-5 day campaign to weaken Tehran and force it back to the negotiating table. In a significant diplomatic move, Washington proposed an immediate ceasefire through a mediator reportedly Italy aiming for an agreement as early as today or tomorrow.

Iran outright rejected the ceasefire proposal, signaling continued defiance amid retaliatory actions and vows of revenge.

This development highlights Trump’s desire for a quick exit from the conflict after achieving a major blow to Iran’s leadership, though the regime in Tehran shows no signs of immediate collapse.

“Putin has lost three of his closest friends in just over a year. He also failed to help any of them,” Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs noted.

Sybiha believes that the domino effect of fallen dictators must continue, and that Putin’s downfall one day is inevitable.

“Together, we must make every effort to bring that joyful day closer and ensure accountability for all Russian crimes,” he emphasized.

WE WILL NOT BE RUSHED TO HOLDING A PF CONVENTION – LUBINDA

The Given Lubinda-led-PF says it will not be bullied and rushed into holding the most anticipated general Assembly to elect the president of the party.

The PF was supposed to hold the general Assembly yesterday and had announced all was set.

But insiders say the process had started and was being held privately to avoid disruptive by state agents.

But the Lubinda office issued the following statement this morning:

PATRIOTIC FRONT (PF)
OFFICIAL STATEMENT: DEFENDING DEMOCRACY AND PARTY
STABILITY
The Patriotic Front wishes to address the sustained barrage of speculation and politically motivated attacks regarding the scheduling of our National Convention.

Let it be clear: the PF will not be
bullied into conducting a rushed, chaotic or legally questionable convention simply to satisfy
opponents who wish to see instability within our ranks.

Our responsibility is to ensure that when delegates gather, the process is lawful, credible, transparent and beyond dispute.

We refuse to repeat mistakes that could later nullify the will of our members. Those who shout the loudest about “delays” are often the same forces that seek to disrupt internal processes through legal and political
manoeuvres.

The PF remains united, structured and focused. Internal preparations are ongoing.

Membership verification, structural alignment and compliance requirements are being handled with
diligence. Leadership is not measured by noise or impatience. It is measured by responsibility and foresight.

Iran-US-Israel Tensions Escalate as Top Iranian Military Leader Reportedly  Unalived in New Airstrike

Iran-US-Israel Tensions Escalate as Top Iranian Military Leader Reportedly Killed in New Airstrike

Abdolrahim Mousavi, Iran’s Chief of Staff, has reportedly been killed in a fresh wave of airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel, according to Iranian state television on Sunday.

Mousavi, regarded as a key figure within Iran’s military leadership, is said to have died amid intensifying regional hostilities. His reported death represents another major setback for Iran’s defence command and comes less than 24 hours after reports emerged about the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in what was described as a joint US-Israeli strike.

Observers believe that the continued targeting of Iran’s senior leadership could significantly disrupt the country’s command structure and further destabilise the Middle East.

Reports indicate that US President Donald Trump has suggested that military operations against Iran’s top commanders may continue. According to sources, Trump signalled that the strikes would persist until Iran’s senior military leadership is completely dismantled, raising concerns about prolonged tensions in the region.

Meanwhile, Iran is expected to act swiftly to address the leadership gap created by Khamenei’s reported death. The Guardian reported that interim arrangements have been proposed to steer the country during this transitional period.

Under the temporary framework, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, and another senior legal official are anticipated to manage state affairs.

Additionally, Iranian state television named Mohammad Mokhber as the designated successor to Khamenei. Mokhber, a longtime adviser to the late leader, previously served as acting president following the sudden death of former President Ebrahim Raisi in 2024 and held the role of First Vice President from 2021 to 2024.

The situation remains dynamic, with international leaders closely observing developments as tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel continue to rise.

CIVIL SOCIETY OUTLINES NEW SEAT ALLOCATION

CIVIL SOCIETY OUTLINES NEW SEAT ALLOCATION

Civil society organisations have unveiled a proposed provincial distribution for the 70 new National Assembly seats.

The Consortium of Civil Society Organisations on Governance and Constitutionalism announced this on Sunday in Lusaka.

The consortium stated that it has completed a detailed scientific analysis ahead of the Electoral Commission of Zambia’s provincial meetings starting in Choma.

It noted that the interim proposal aims to contribute transparently to the delimitation process using data from the 2022 Census and 2021 voter register.

The group emphasised that constituencies serve primarily for electoral representation under Article 59 of the Constitution.

It declared that any seat allocation must prioritise constitutional fairness that takes into account surface area for each province, population density, population of voters and geographical features.

The alliance suggested Central Province receives 8 seats, Copperbelt 9, Eastern 8, Luapula 6, Lusaka 8, Muchinga 5, Northern 6, North-Western 7, Southern 8, and Western 5.

It explained the model balances population density, voter numbers, urban-rural needs, and provincial geography.

The coalition highlighted avoidance of extreme population-based skews or equal distribution to uphold voter equality.

It affirmed that the approach stays within global voter deviation standards for equitable representation.

The body urged stakeholders, including traditional leaders, to scrutinise the data during consultations.

It clarified that delimitation sets electoral boundaries without affecting chiefdoms or traditional structures.

The partnership called on politicians to view constitutional processes and customary authority as complementary.

CSOs forming the consortium include the Southern Africa Centre for the Collaborative Resolution of Conflicts (SACCORD), hosted at its secretariat.

THE US–ISRAEL WAR ON IRAN AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR ZAMBIA AND AFRICA

THE US–ISRAEL WAR ON IRAN AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR ZAMBIA AND AFRICA

Dr Cosmas Musumali, the General Secretary of the Socialist Party, said the party had followed with deep concern the outbreak of the military conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which began on 28 February 2026, describing it as a dangerous escalation with serious global consequences.

He stated that the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and the subsequent retaliatory strikes represented a blatant violation of international law and a grave assault on the principle of state sovereignty. He warned that such actions, undertaken without clear authorisation from the United Nations, were weakening the rules-based international order that smaller and developing nations such as Zambia rely on for their security and independence.

Dr Musumali explained that Zambia could not afford to view the war as a distant Middle Eastern problem, noting that any disruption to global oil supply routes would inevitably drive up fuel prices. He said Zambia’s total dependence on imported petroleum meant that higher fuel costs would quickly translate into increased transport fares, higher food prices, rising production costs in the mining sector, and added inflationary pressure on ordinary citizens.

He further observed that heightened global instability often depressed demand for industrial commodities, including copper, which remains Zambia’s economic backbone. He cautioned that a prolonged conflict could negatively affect copper prices at a time when the country urgently needed stable revenues to support development and meet its financial obligations.

Dr Musumali said Africa had painful historical experience of the consequences of powerful states acting without restraint, adding that wars in Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan had shown that military interventions justified in the name of security frequently resulted in long-term instability and humanitarian suffering. He warned that decisions taken by powerful leaders such as Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu risked setting the world on a path of deeper insecurity whose costs would be disproportionately borne by weaker nations.

He also expressed concern that the conflict was sending a dangerous global message that nuclear weapons were the only reliable guarantee of national survival, arguing that this threatened the future of nuclear non-proliferation and increased the likelihood of more states seeking weapons of mass destruction.

Dr Musumali said the Socialist Party condemned all acts of aggression that violated international law and undermined national sovereignty, and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations.

He urged the Zambian government, working together with the African Union, to speak with a united and principled voice in defence of peace, multilateralism, and international law.

He further called on the government to prepare proactively for the economic shocks arising from the conflict, particularly in relation to fuel pricing, food security, and the stability of the mining sector.

Dr Musumali concluded by saying Zambia and Africa had no role in initiating the war but would bear part of its consequences, adding that it was therefore imperative for progressive forces to oppose the normalisation of imperial wars and to continue advocating for a just, peaceful, and rules-based international order.

Zambian Govt refutes international media reports that it rejected US health support

Government refutes international media reports that it rejected US health support

THE ZAMBIAN government has refuted international media reports that it had rejected the 26 billion Kwacha health support from the United States.

Last week, TRT Afrika reported that Zambia had rejected the health assistance from US government that sought to have greater access to the country’s mineral wealth as well as personal health data of citizens in return.

The report sparked online debates with thousands praising the Zambian government for its stance.

However, Chief government spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa clarified that government had not rejected the 26 billion Kwacha health support from the United States.

Speaking during a media engagement, Mweetwa said that government had continued to engage in dialogue with the United States on the matter.

Mweetwa said that any official position on international agreements especially the United States of America health funding would be communicated at an appropriate time.

“Media practitioners should avoid publishing unverified information that could jeopardize diplomatic relations,” he said.

Mweetwa, who is also Acting Minister of Health further stated that there is no diplomatic rift between Zambia and the United States, as alerted by some sections of the media.

He said that government maintains cordial bilateral and multilateral relations with the United States of America and continues to engage in dialogue with other partners.

DEPORTATION DRAMA: Son of Zimbabwe’s Former Strongman Found in South Africa Illegally After Being Previously Denied Entry — Chatunga Bellarmine Mugabe Now Faces Forced Return to Zimbabwe

🇿🇦🚨 DEPORTATION DRAMA: Son of Zimbabwe’s Former Strongman Found in South Africa Illegally After Being Previously Denied Entry — Chatunga Bellarmine Mugabe Now Faces Forced Return to Zimbabwe

South African immigration authorities have confirmed that Chatunga Bellarmine Mugabe, son of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, was in the country without legal status — despite having been previously denied entry.
Officials revealed that his presence in South Africa directly contradicts an earlier immigration refusal, raising serious questions about how he managed to enter or remain in the country.

Now, he faces the very real possibility of deportation back to Zimbabwe.
⚖️ No Immunity at the Border
Under South African immigration law:
• A person denied entry cannot legally re-enter without proper authorization.
• Being in the country without valid documentation is grounds for arrest and removal.

• Deportation orders can include future travel restrictions.
Authorities have indicated that due process will be followed, but the law is clear — status and surname do not override immigration regulations.

🌍 A Diplomatic Flashpoint?
The development is politically sensitive. As the son of one of Zimbabwe’s most controversial leaders, Chatunga’s case could attract attention from both Pretoria and Harare. However, immigration enforcement is handled under domestic law, regardless of political lineage.

South Africa has in recent months intensified immigration compliance operations, reinforcing a message that entry and residency rules apply equally to all foreign nationals.

🔎 What Happens Next?
If deportation proceeds:
• He could be detained pending removal.
• He would be formally handed back to Zimbabwean authorities.
• Future travel to South Africa could face long-term restrictions.

Officials have not yet confirmed whether legal representatives are contesting the move.

This unfolding case places the spotlight once again on immigration enforcement in the region — and sends a clear message: no one is above the law.
As developments unfold, this story is far from over.

GAYTON MCKENZIE THROWS HIS FULL SUPPORT BEHIND PATRICE MOTSEPE — SAYS HE’S READY TO LEAD THE ANC INTO A NEW ERA

GAYTON MCKENZIE THROWS HIS FULL SUPPORT BEHIND PATRICE MOTSEPE — SAYS HE’S READY TO LEAD THE ANC INTO A NEW ERA

Gayton McKenzie has made it clear that he believes Patrice Motsepe is being targeted by a coordinated campaign aimed at discrediting his leadership and achievements. According to McKenzie, Motsepe has transformed African football, raised standards across the continent, and proven that he has the vision, discipline and global respect needed at the highest levels.

Now, McKenzie is going further — backing Motsepe not just in football leadership, but as someone capable of steering the ANC into a new chapter. He argues that South Africa needs strong, respected and results-driven leadership, and says Motsepe has demonstrated exactly that on the continental stage.

McKenzie’s message is simple: attempts to undermine Motsepe will not succeed, and there are leaders who stand firmly behind him.

UK advises against travel to Pakistan after US consulate stormed by protesters

0

The UK’s foreign office has updated its advice to British nationals in Pakistan and restricted movements for its British staff in the wake of violence at the US consulate in Karachi.

Earlier, hundreds of protesters stormed the US consulate in southern Pakistan in reaction to the strikes in Iran, killing nine people and injuring at least 32 others during clashes between police and protesters, according to a local hospital.

Pro-Iran demonstrations are still unfolding across Pakistan, where there are Shia communities who have been longtime supporters of Iran’s regime. Hundreds of protesters have been trying to reach the US consulate in Lahore, but are being held off by police.

In Pakistan-administered Gilgit Baltistan, protesters gathered and burned a UN building. It’s a region where posters of Iran’s supreme leader have been displayed in public for years.

The US-Israeli strikes are forcing Pakistan’s government to navigate a fine line between its growing relationship with Donald Trump and its support for Iran. The foreign minister has already condemned what he called “unwarranted attacks against Iran” after a call with his counterpart there.

Shia organisations are calling for more rallies across Pakistan. Police say they’re already taking measures to protect the US embassy in the capital Islamabad, where protesters are now heading.

PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa CALLS FOR MIDDLE EAST DIALOGUE — WARNS GLOBAL POWERS AND ISSUES STRONG MESSAGE TO Donald Trump OVER INTERNATIONAL LAW VIOLATIONS

PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa CALLS FOR MIDDLE EAST DIALOGUE — WARNS GLOBAL POWERS AND ISSUES STRONG MESSAGE TO Donald Trump OVER INTERNATIONAL LAW VIOLATIONS

The Presidency of the Republic of South Africa has released a firm and carefully worded statement expressing deep concern over escalating tensions in the Middle East — with President Cyril Ramaphosa not only calling for restraint, but also delivering a pointed warning to global powers, including President Donald Trump of the United States.

In the statement, South Africa cautioned that the growing hostilities pose a direct threat to regional and international peace and security, with potentially devastating humanitarian, diplomatic and economic consequences.

⚖️ A Clear Line on International Law

Ramaphosa emphasized that all parties must act strictly within the framework of international law, international humanitarian law, and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Citing Article 51 of the UN Charter, the President underscored that:

• Self-defence applies only in response to an actual armed attack.
• Anticipatory or pre-emptive self-defence is not permitted under international law.
• Military action cannot be justified on assumptions or perceived future threats.

The message was unmistakable — powerful nations must not act outside internationally agreed rules.

🕊️ “There Is No Military Solution”

Drawing from South Africa’s own painful but transformative history, Ramaphosa stressed that armed confrontation cannot resolve fundamentally political disputes.

He reminded the world that:

• Military escalation does not create sustainable peace.
• Violence deepens instability instead of solving grievances.
• Only inclusive dialogue, negotiation and justice can secure long-term stability.

“As a nation that emerged from conflict through dialogue and reconciliation, South Africa remains steadfast in its belief that peace is not only possible, but imperative,” the statement read.
🌍 Pretoria’s Diplomatic Signal to Washington and the World

By reaffirming strict adherence to international law and rejecting anticipatory military action, Ramaphosa’s statement is widely viewed as a diplomatic signal to major global actors — particularly the United States — that unilateral escalation risks undermining global stability.

South Africa is urging the international community, multilateral institutions and regional partners to intensify mediation efforts and create space for meaningful negotiations before the situation spirals further.

At a moment of rising global uncertainty, Pretoria’s stance is clear:

Restraint over retaliation. Law over force. Dialogue over destruction.

The message from South Africa’s highest office is not just a call for peace — it is a warning that the world cannot afford another prolonged and destabilising conflict.

Iran’s system designed to function after supreme leader’s death

0

The killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is a huge blow to Iran, but it does not automatically produce regime change, nor is it likely to shorten the conflict.

Although Khamenei was a towering figure – Iran’s un-challengeable ruler for the past 37 years – the system of rule is designed to continue functioning after his death.

Since the 1979 revolution, Iran has been governed by Shia religious leaders, and its political and military institutions are structured to protect this form of rule.

A system is in place to appoint a successor to Khamenei, an election by a body of 88 religious figures known as the Assembly of Experts. These clerics are loyal to the regime and will choose someone who will continue Khamenei’s path.

But Iran’s most powerful institution is the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC), a pervasive, ideological military force whose purpose is to guard Iran’s Islamic system. It is fighting back against the US and Israel and will tolerate no dissent at home.

The IRGC is expected to play a decisive role in shaping the succession – and in ensuring that any new leader protects its interests.

Senior Iranian official denies Tehran attacking Arab states

A senior Iranian official has said Iran has no intention of attacking other countries in the region – only the️ US bases on their territory.

The head of Iran’s National Security Council, Ali Larijani, said such US military facilities “are not the territory of the countries of the region, they are the territory of the United States. We do not intend to attack the countries of the region.”

“We had told the United States through the Swiss embassy that if you attack this time, we will hit your bases,” he said in remarks carried by state media.

Many of the Iranian attacks since Saturday have struck civilian infrastructure in the Gulf, including airports in Dubai and Kuwait, hotels and

other buildings. Dozens of missiles and drones have targeted the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

“We had many casualties in the previous war, but yesterday the number of our martyrs was very small,” Larijani claimed.

“The armed forces, with experience from the previous war, are in control.”

Two Israelis killed in missile attack – IDF

0

IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin says two Israelis have been killed in Iran’s retaliatory attack.

In a briefing, Defrin says: “Even though we have extensive operations of the IDF air defence systems, it’s still not foolproof.” He urges people in Israel to follow instructions from the authorities and take shelter when under attack.

Defrin says the IDF has “severely damaged” Iran’s defence system, adding that Israel is working with the US military to continue its attack.

“We’re going to continue with that campaign until we manage to achieve all the goals we have set for ourselves,” he says.

In addition to the two deaths reported, Israel’s Ministry of Health says that since the start of the attack on Iran, 456 people have been taken to hospital. Of those, 86 are still in hospital and in intensive care, it says.

Israel claims “majority” of Iran’s senior military leaders killed in strikes

Israel has claimed that a “majority” or Iran’s senior military leaders were killed in the opening wave of strikes during the joint US-Israel attacks on Iran.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had killed 40 senior commanders, calling it a “historic strike” that was possible because of military intelligence. Most of the commanders were killed in simultaneous strikes on two separate sites, the IDF said, without providing the names of all those killed.

The IDF said the list includes Iranian Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Abdoorahim Mousavi. Iranian state media said Mousavi and other senior Iranian security leaders were among those killed in the US-Israeli strikes.

The Israeli military also said it had dismantled Iran’s aerial defense systems in western and central Iran as the country’s Air Force establishes air superiority over Tehran.

“The Israeli Air Force continues to operate extensively in both defense and offense, with the goal of removing threats posed to the State of Israel,” the IDF said.

Iran’s top clerics order Muslims to avenge Khamenei’s killing

0

A leading Iranian Shiite cleric has issued an order for Muslims to wage jihad against the United States and Israel to avenge the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The 99-year-old Grand Ayatollah, Makarem Shirazi, said Khamenei’s revenge is the “religious duty of all Muslims in the world to eradicate the evil of these criminals from the world,” according to state-affiliated Tasnim News Agency.

Another leading cleric, Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani, issued a fatwa declaring an obligation for all Muslims “avenge the blood” of Khamenei, Tasnim said.

Iranian president says revenge is country’s “right and duty”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Iran views revenge for the attacks by Israel and the United States as its “legitimate right and duty.”

In a statement issued Sunday on Iranian state media, Pezeshkian said that the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had been killed “at the hands of the most wicked villains in the world.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran considers bloodshed and revenge against the perpetrators and commanders of this historical crime as its duty and legitimate right will fulfil this great responsibility and duty with all its might,” Pezeshkian said.

He said that the killing of Khamenei was a “declaration of open war on Muslims, especially Shiites, in all corners of the world.”

Iran is majority Shiite, as is Iraq, while the populations of most Gulf countries and that of Egypt are predominantly Sunni Muslims.

Putin calls Khamenei’s killing a “cynical murder” that violates international law

In his first official comments since US-Israeli strikes on Iran and ensuing retaliatory strikes, Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the targeted killing of Iran’s supreme leader a “cynical murder,” Russian state media agency TASS reported.

The Russian leader described Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death as a murder that violated “all norms of human morality and international law,” according to TASS.

Putin said Khamenei would be remembered in Russia as an “outstanding statesman.”

Moscow and Tehran have long been key allies, with Iran providing Russia with military support including drones and ballistic missiles, and helping Moscow build a drone-manufacturing facility, amid its war on Ukraine.

It comes after Russia’s foreign ministery yesterday condemned the US and Israeli strikes on Iran, calling them a “reckless step” and an “unprovoked act of armed aggression.”

Iran forms leadership council to run country after Khamenei’s killing

0

Iran formed a leadership council to administer the country in the wake of the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The country’s constitution stipulates that if the supreme leader is no longer in power, a provisional leadership council comprising the president, the head of the judiciary, and a senior cleric from the powerful Guardian Council should assume his responsibilities until a new leader is elected by the 88-member Assembly of Experts.

The council includes Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, 67, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i, the head of judiciary.

Arafi is an established cleric with a track record in government institutions who was also a confidant of Khamenei. He currently serves as deputy chairman of the Assembly of Experts and has been a member of the powerful Guardian Council, which vets election candidates and laws passed by parliament.

President Trump Issues Dire Warning to Iran Threatens “Force That Has Never Been Seen Before” if Attacks Escalate

🚨 Breaking News: President Trump Issues Dire Warning to Iran Threatens “Force That Has Never Been Seen Before” if Attacks Escalate

Washington, D.C. — March 1, 2026

In a sharply worded statement posted on Truth Social this morning, President Donald J. Trump directly addressed Iran amid rapidly escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The President wrote:
“Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever been hit before. THEY BETTER NOT DO THAT, HOWEVER, BECAUSE IF THEY DO, WE WILL HIT THEM WITH A FORCE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE!”

The warning comes as U.S. and Israeli forces continue major combat operations against Iranian targets, following reports of Iranian retaliation plans and ongoing regional strikes.

This marks the latest in a series of strong presidential messages as the situation remains fluid.

Mojtaba Khamenei son of the late Supreme Leader has been named as Iran’s new Supreme Leader

Reports that Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Supreme Leader, has been named as Iran’s new Supreme Leader, confirming the death of his father as reports claimed.

Now father to son.

Mojtaba has long been considered the shadow power behind the regime, controlling key IRGC appointments, overseeing intelligence operations, and managing his father’s inner circle.

In true USA fashion, they overthrew Khamenei to be replaced by Khamenei. Remember Afghanistan?

And now, propelled by the martyrdom of his father, the fury of his revenge will be felt by the worst two terrorist govts on earth.

It is not a matter of who has nuclear weapons to use but about principled leadership.

Which country attacked by the terror organisation called country has ever seen peace in the last 50yrs? NONE! That is not success.

But Iran is neither Iraq nor Libya.

We wait and see.

Dubai just shut down. The busiest international airport on earth. Closed. Indefinitely

Dubai just shut down. The busiest international airport on earth. Closed. Indefinitely.

Dubai International and Al Maktoum International both suspended all operations on February 28 per official Dubai Airports statement. Over 280 flights canceled. 250 more delayed. The airspace that handles more international passengers than any hub on the planet went dark this morning because Iranian ballistic missiles were flying through it.

Now read the airline list and understand the scale of what just broke.

Emirates. Grounded. Etihad. Grounded. Qatar Airways. Suspended all flights to and from Doha after Qatari airspace closed. Air India. Every single flight to every destination in the entire Middle East. Suspended indefinitely. Turkish Airlines. Suspended flights to Bahrain, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Syria, Qatar, and the UAE until at least March 2. Lufthansa. Dubai suspended. Air France. Tel Aviv and Beirut suspended. Wizz Air. Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman suspended until March 7. British Airways. Affected. Virgin Atlantic. Affected. Japan Airlines. Affected. Norwegian Air, LOT Polish, Scandinavian Airlines, Aegean, Iberia, Air Arabia, PIA, Saudia, Air Algerie. All affected. All grounded or rerouting.

This is not a regional disruption. This is the global aviation network breaking at one of its most critical nodes.

Dubai is not just an airport. It is the single largest connecting hub between Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Every flight from Mumbai to London, from Singapore to Frankfurt, from Nairobi to New York that routes through the Gulf is now either canceled, delayed, or burning extra fuel on thousand-mile detours around closed airspace. IndiGo just suspended flights to Almaty, Baku, Tashkent, and Tbilisi until March 28. Not March 2. March 28. A month of Central Asian connectivity erased because Iranian missiles crossed the flight paths.

The cost is compounding by the hour. Rerouted flights burn more fuel when oil is spiking past 100 dollars a barrel because the same conflict that closed the airspace is threatening the strait that moves 21 million barrels a day. Airlines are paying surge prices for fuel to fly longer routes around a war zone that did not exist yesterday morning. Every hour the airspace stays closed, the losses multiply across carriers already operating on thin margins

And here is what nobody is calculating yet. Dubai’s economy runs on connectivity. Tourism. Trade. Finance. Logistics. All of it depends on DXB being open. The UAE just absorbed an act of war on its sovereign territory with a civilian killed in Abu Dhabi from missile debris.

The country that built its entire economic model on being the safe, neutral, connected hub of the Middle East is now closed for business because the country it had no quarrel with fired missiles through its airspace.

Iran did not just attack military bases this morning. Iran shut down the economic engine of the Gulf.

That is a cost Tehran cannot afford to repay and the UAE will not forget.

$30K DRONE WIPES OUT $300M US RADAR: Gulf Defense Shield Blown Apart

$30K DRONE WIPES OUT $300M US RADAR: Gulf Defense Shield Blown Apart

A low-cost Iranian drone reportedly worth just $30,000 has destroyed a $300 million long-range 360° air surveillance and missile defense radar site in Bahrain that supported the United States Fifth Fleet.

The radar installation, operational since 2004, served as a critical early warning system for detecting aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic missile threats across the Gulf. Its loss marks a stunning blow to one of the region’s key defensive assets.

Military analysts say the strike underscores a new reality of modern warfare: inexpensive unmanned systems can cripple high-value infrastructure in seconds.

The attack is likely to raise urgent questions in Washington and allied capitals about force protection, vulnerability and the escalating technological arms race reshaping conflict in the Middle East.

Trump Ignores CIA Warning: Killing Khamenei Could Backfire

Trump Ignores CIA Warning: Killing Khamenei Could Backfire

President Donald Trump pushed for regime change in Iran, targeting Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, despite a CIA assessment warning it could make matters worse.

The agency noted that if Khamenei dies, IRGC hardliners would likely take over — leaders focused on military power rather than diplomacy or religious legitimacy. Killing the top could destabilize Iran and unleash far more extreme elements, echoing the Iraq war lesson: removing a leader doesn’t dismantle the system.

Trump urged Iranians to rise up, but with the IRGC in charge, protesters may face soldiers with nothing left to lose.

I’M BEST ALTERNATIVE TO HH, SAYS M’MEMBE

I’M BEST ALTERNATIVE TO HH, SAYS M’MEMBE

PEOPLE’S Pact Movement presidential candidate Dr Fred M’membe says he is the alternative to President Hakainde Hichilema in the August 13 general elections.

Raising serious concerns about the state of democracy in Zambia under Hichilema’s regime, Dr M’membe said Zambia needed to return to ‘rule by the people’ and not an individual as was the case currently.

“In confronting the challenges posed by President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership style, Zambia needs an opposition figure of exceptional courage, integrity and vision,” he said.

Dr M’membe said he was unmatched and was the only option Zambians should trust ahead the August 13 general elections and beyond to unite the nation and mend its broken economy.

Dr M’membe, who is the Socialist Party (SP) President, said he was incorruptible and unbuyable.

He said some of his opponents were easily swayed through payoffs or corruption, as seen in cases such as the controversial Bill 7.

Dr M’membe said he had consistently proven his loyalty to a Zambian cause. He could therefore not be bought or compromised.

“[My] record shows an unwavering refusal to trade principles for personal gain,” he said.

Dr M’membe said Zambians should trust him with leadership because he was equal to the task of facing Hichilema’s ruthless strategies aimed at silencing dissenting voices.

He said Hichilema’s leadership was authoritarian in nature and undermined the country’s democratic progress.

In confronting the challenges posed by Hichilema’s leadership style, Zambia needed an opposition figure of exceptional courage, integrity and vision like him.

“Many in the opposition falter under such pressure, but Dr M’membe remains unshaken. No one in Zambian politics today demonstrates greater bravery or steadfastness in the face of adversity,” Dr M’membe said.

He said while Hichilema frequently targeted opponents through arrests and prosecutions tied to past government dealings or contracts, he did not have such entanglements because he had never won any government contracts or positions that could expose him to that.

Dr M’membe said he was a qualified accountant, economist with a Master’s degree in Economic Policy Management, a lawyer and advocate of the High Court and Supreme Court, journalist and holder of a Doctorate in Business Administration, making him suitable for the presidency.

“[My] deep knowledge extends to history, politics, military affairs and intelligence, making [myself] the most comprehensively educated figure in Zambian politics today. Among opposition candidates, only [myself] has presented a solid, structured economic blueprint and a clear national vision rooted in social equity, structural reform and democratic renewal. The ideas offer a genuine path to lasting transformation,” he said.

For decades, he had held successive governments accountable through fearless journalism and advocacy.

“No other opposition leader has a stronger record of championing integrity, fairness, transparency and the interests of ordinary Zambians and the nation,” he said.

LUBINDA LED PF CONVENTION FAILS TO TAKE OFF

LUBINDA LED PF CONVENTION FAILS TO TAKE OFF

THE Given Lubinda led PF’s much-anticipated convention failed to take off yesterday, with party officials offering little clarity.

When contacted, Deputy Secretary General Celestine Mukandila insisted that the nation will be updated on the way forward.

Meanwhile, PF-aligned page Grindstone TV, reported that acting president Given Lubinda was involved in a road accident in Chilanga. The incident was later confirmed by Mukandila, who stated that Lubinda and his wife were safe and didn’t require medical attention, as it was just minor damage to the vehicle’s bumper.

Below is a direct post from Grindstone TV.

“Road Traffic Accident Involving Given Lubinda in Chilanga. A road traffic accident involving former Kabwata member of parliament, Given Lubinda, occurred earlier today in Chilanga. According to sources at the scene, the vehicle was being driven by his wife at the time of the incident. It is reported that she failed to keep to her near side of the road, resulting in another vehicle hitting the front bumper. Fortunately, no injuries have been recorded. The parties involved were later released from the scene. Mr Lubinda and his wife are reportedly heading to St Ambrose to check on their child. More details will be provided as information becomes available,” as reported by Grindstone.

In an interview, Mukandila assured the nation that they will be informed on the convention.

“Yes, president Lubinda had a minor accident as he was proceeding towards Kafue somewhere in Chilanga, and there was just some damage on the bumper of the vehicle. Otherwise, he is very okay and everyone else who was in the vehicle is okay, issues of being taken to the hospital were not there. And talking about the convention, you will be updated, the nation shall be updated don’t worry, today or not today,” Mukandila said.

And presidential candidate Miles Sampa refused to comment.

“On that I have no comment, sorry, I have no comment, bye,” said Sampa.

When called to confirm whether the convention will happen, Mukandila insisted that the nation will be updated.

“So, like I indicated earlier as SG we will issue a formal statement on that, just be on the lookout like we always do. You do not worry, everything will be communicated and you will be updated” said Mukandila.

PF faction acting president Robert Chabinga on Saturday warned that any attempt by the Given Lubinda-led team to hold a convention yesterday under the party’s name will lead to contempt of court proceedings.

MUNDUBILE IS THE BEST OPTION – BINWELL  MPUNDU

MUNDUBILE IS THE BEST OPTION – BINWELL

MOVEMENT for Good Governance (Ichabaiche) leader Binwell Mpundu says a lot of traditional and church leaders advised him to join the Brian Mundubile-led Tonse Alliance.

And Mpundu claims Ichabaiche is the biggest political grouping in the country with almost one million members.

Speaking on Diamond TV recently, Mpundu said he joined the Mundubile-led Tonse faction because the UPND had become a common enemy for the opposition.

He added that it would be folly for his movement to think it would win the August elections single-handedly.

“This decision was made based on the fact that we need to unite to dislodge UPND, because the UPND have now become a common enemy among all of us who are on the opposite side. The UPND, we believe, are an enemy to our democracy. Look at how our democracy has basically been thrown into tatters? They have become an enemy to the rule of law. Unfortunately, today it’s a kangaroo situation or the Animal Farm situation where some animals are more equal than the others. The economy also is in serious problems, people are hardly surviving. So, we looked at the next election in August as an election that you can’t go in just for numbers or to be on record that ‘I participated and I came third’. If we are to go into the election, we must win it. Now, it will be folly for us to think that we can win it alone, which is why we came into this painful decision to go into the election as an alliance,” he said.

Mpundu said many stakeholders advised him to team up with the Mundubile-led Tonse Alliance, adding that he won’t be re-contesting his Nkana seat.

“We have been listening to many stakeholders who have pointed us to this direction that we have now made. And here I’m speaking to church leaders, I’m speaking to traditional leaders and as we speak here I can tell you there is a huge number of traditional leaders who are pointing to that Tonse Alliance, there is a huge number of Church factions that are pointing to that direction, they are the ones who convinced us that this is the direction to go. So, let me say without sounding unreasonable that it looks like Honourable Brian Mundubile may actually be leading the pack around the opposition and that’s what led us into that particular alliance,” he said.

“I am now part of the bigger picture or a bigger plan, I am not going into Nkana, I have done my part. I wish that the people of Nkana can now pick a better person than me. I have done my home work, I did what I promised I would do, I think now there is a calling that I must step up and help at a bigger platform. So I will be helping galvanise support for Tonse Alliance across the country, so I will be a freelancer”.

Meanwhile, Mpundu said his Ichabaiche movement was arguably the biggest political grouping in the country.

“I have been telling people that if we were to put numbers, we could arguably be the biggest political grouping at the moment because when you go into our database, those who have now managed to register with membership cards have actually exceeded 600,000. But those who have not yet, because others have struggled, in total we could be clocking about a million members, so when you look at the context of the sizes of political parties we could arguably be the biggest, save for the UPND, they would claim they are bigger because they got 2.8 million votes in the last election. But between me and you, you know that those who vote are not necessarily your members, because voting is based on the mood of that particular time,” said Mpundu.

“We’ve had serious engagement with different stakeholders. Civil society organisations, the church and traditional leaders have all called on us not to go in alone, because then we would distribute these votes among opposition members or share as they like to call it. So we came to a painful decision that we had to let go of our ambitions, me for example who wanted to be president, I had to let go of my ambitions to become president, or at least shelve that ambition to now be part of a bigger group”.

Negotiation, Not Capitulation: Reading Zambia’s Position on The US Health Deal

🇿🇲 EDITOR’S NOTE | Negotiation, Not Capitulation: Reading Zambia’s Position on The US Health Deal

The news that “Zambia has rejected” a US$1 billion American health funding package has travelled fast. Social media, especially across Southern Africa, has celebrated what many perceive as a bold stand. Zimbabwe’s decision to walk away from a similar arrangement has amplified that sentiment. In Zambia’s case, however, the reality is more nuanced.

First, a simple fact: Zambia does not appear on the least list of countries that have signed the new US health Memorandum of Understanding. This alone confirms one thing clearly. No deal has been concluded.

Engagements between Lusaka and Washington began last November and remain unresolved. This means negotiations are ongoing, not finalized. If there were a formal rejection, government would have issued an unequivocal statement. Instead, the Minister of Information and Media, Cornelius Mweetwa, clarified that Zambia’s official position “will be communicated at an appropriate time,” while emphasizing that there is “no diplomatic rift” between Lusaka and Washington and that dialogue continues.

What has fuelled public reaction is not speculation alone. Zimbabwe’s withdrawn draft reportedly contained clauses involving the sharing of health data and collaboration linked to access to critical and rare minerals. Those disclosures shifted the debate from pure health financing to questions of sovereignty, data governance, and resource diplomacy. Once health data harvest and mineral access entered the public conversation, the tone changed sharply.

Across Zambian social media platforms, the mood is clear. Many citizens support continued cooperation with the United States but oppose any arrangement that appears to compromise national control over health databases or strategic mineral resources. Funding for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and maternal health is important. But so too is the protection of sovereign data and natural wealth.

The Trump administration’s “America First” global health strategy is explicitly transactional. Washington has withdrawn from the World Health Organization and is increasingly pursuing bilateral frameworks where accountability, co-financing, measurable outcomes, and strategic collaboration are central. Reuters reported that the funding would support disease prevention and research planning. This is legitimate.

But where research intersects with national data systems and mineral supply chains, governments will scrutinize the fine print.

Zimbabwe’s withdrawal, combined with broader Southern African debates about value addition and mineral sovereignty, has shaped how Zambians are interpreting this moment. Even without a signed agreement, the perception of conditionality triggered caution.

The Zambian government has not publicly disclosed the specific clauses under discussion. This silence has created space for speculation. But from a diplomatic standpoint, negotiations often involve multiple drafts, redlines, and amendments. It would be premature to declare conclusion at this point despite delays by months now.

What is clear is this: Zambia has not signed. Negotiations have not concluded. Public sentiment leans strongly toward safeguarding sovereignty. And government has chosen careful wording over dramatic declarations.

In the current geopolitical climate, health funding, mineral security, and data governance are no longer separate conversations. They are interconnected pillars of economic and national security policy.

The question now is not whether Zambia rejected a deal. The question is whether the final draft, if one emerges, will align with both Zambia’s development needs and its sovereign interests.

Until then, what we are witnessing is negotiation under scrutiny and a citizenry increasingly alert to the fine print.
