Putin’s Inner Circle Is Privately Mocking Trump, Calling Him Putin’s Useful Idiot

BREAKING: Putin’s Inner Circle Is Privately Mocking Trump, Calling Him Putin’s Useful Idiot

Vladimir Putin’s closest advisors are laughing at Donald Trump behind his back, and British intelligence has the receipts to prove it. According to a senior UK security official speaking to The Spectator, intercepted communications between top Kremlin figures are filled with ridicule over what they see as Trump’s stunning gullibility when it comes to accepting Putin’s word on the Ukraine war at face value.

“We have continually shown them intelligence that shows the Russians are lying,” the official said. “The Russians are privately mocking Trump over his naivety about Putin’s intentions. Putin doesn’t want to end the war.”

The pattern of broken promises is staggering. After Trump’s February 2025 call with Putin, during which Trump triumphantly announced both sides wanted peace, Russia launched over 170 strikes against Ukraine that same day, killing at least seven people. In March, Putin pledged to halt attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

Days later, Russian forces bombed a power station in Sumy and damaged energy lines in Dnipropetrovsk. In August, Trump rolled out the red carpet for Putin at an Alaska summit and teased a ceasefire deal was “close.” He never mentioned it again.

By October, a planned Budapest summit collapsed entirely after Moscow refused to show any flexibility. In December, Trump held what he called a “very productive” call with Putin and then used his own press conference to amplify Kremlin talking points about Ukrainian strikes on Putin’s residence. Kyiv denied it. Russia never produced evidence.

And in January, Trump proudly announced that Putin had agreed not to bomb Kyiv for a full week due to extreme cold. The Kremlin quietly narrowed that window, and strikes resumed the moment it expired.

Every single time, Trump trusted Putin. Every single time, Putin lied. And every single time, the men sitting inside the Kremlin laughed.

This is not just embarrassing. It is a national security catastrophe. While Trump plays the role of Putin’s most reliable Western mouthpiece, America’s intelligence partners are watching in disbelief as the leader of the free world gets played over and over again by a war criminal who has never once honored his commitments.- Really American

Breaking News : Trump Says U.S. Crushed Russian & Chinese Defenses in Lightning Raid That Captured Maduro

U.S. President Donald Trump declared that American forces overpowered Russian and Chinese military systems during a high-stakes operation in Venezuela that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro inside a fortified complex in Caracas.

According to verified reporting from Reuters and The Times of India, Trump publicly stated that U.S. forces neutralized defense equipment supplied by Russia and China during the operation. He asserted that the foreign-supplied systems “did not work” when confronted by American military capabilities and used the outcome to project U.S. technological superiority.

In his remarks, Trump framed the mission as a decisive demonstration of U.S. power, directly referencing Moscow and Beijing while highlighting what he described as the failure of their defense exports in Venezuela. The statements themselves are verified and documented in mainstream media coverage.

While operational specifics remain classified, independent outlets confirm that Trump explicitly credited U.S. forces with overcoming Russian and Chinese-origin defense infrastructure protecting Maduro’s compound.

Defense analysts note that although the President’s claims are verified as having been made, technical confirmation of the exact methods used remains limited due to the sensitive nature of the mission.

The raid and subsequent capture of Maduro represent one of the most consequential U.S. military actions in Latin America in recent decades and have triggered significant geopolitical reactions.

Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin says he sent a letter to the president Trump warning him not to enter a war with IRAN 🇮🇷.

Lloyd Austin is warning the White House to DO NOT ATTACK IRAN 🇮🇷.

According to the claim, his message to the Trump was “if the U.S. goes to war, the consequences could be catastrophic” and IRAN could bring the US downfall.

For context, while he is in office Austin repeatedly stated that the U.S. “does not seek conflict with Iran” but would defend its forces if necessary.

With tensions rising again in the Middle East and massive military deployments underway, this raises a big question:

Is Washington being pulled toward another major war despite internal warnings?

Even the former Defense Secretary is sounding the alarm…

War with IRAN is not a joke.

It’s a gamble with the future of the United States.

Africa’s wealthiest billionaire commits $1 million to a scholarship fund for business graduates

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has committed $1.1 million, to fund postgraduate business education in Nigeria, reinforcing a growing trend of billionaire-backed human capital investment across the continent.

The five-year funding commitment, announced through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, will support MBA, entrepreneurship and management students at Bayero University Kano’s Dangote Business School.

Structured five-year commitment
Under the agreement, N300 million, approximately $222,883, will be disbursed annually over five years.

Beginning in the 2024/2025 academic year, each eligible student will receive N150,000, about $111 per session, covering half of the institution’s current N300,000 ($223) tuition fee.

University data shows the Dangote Business School currently enrols 1,225 postgraduate students.

The scholarship framework is structured to support all qualified students within that capacity, easing financial pressure while strengthening managerial and entrepreneurial training in one of Africa’s largest economies.

Mariya Aliko Dangote, speaking on behalf of the foundation, framed the intervention as part of a broader development strategy.

“Our vision at the Foundation is to build human capital that translates into economic opportunity. Strengthening business and entrepreneurship education is critical to turning knowledge into enterprise, innovation and jobs. This scholarship deepens our commitment to Dangote Business School by investing directly in the next generation of business leaders and change makers.”

Billionaire philanthropy shapes Africa’s skills agenda
The initiative reflects a wider continental trend of billionaire-led investments in education and entrepreneurship.

In recent years, African business leaders such as Strive Masiyiwa, Patrice Motsepe and Tony Elumelu have expanded scholarship and enterprise funding programmes aimed at building local leadership capacity.

Elumelu’s foundation continues to deploy millions of dollars annually to support African entrepreneurs, while Masiyiwa’s Higherlife Foundation has funded thousands of scholarships across Southern Africa.

As African economies pursue diversification, industrialisation and private sector expansion, targeted investments in advanced business education are increasingly viewed as strategic tools for long-term competitiveness.

Dangote’s latest commitment underscores how private capital is playing an expanding role in shaping Africa’s future workforce and enterprise ecosystem.

Trump Funds Traoré’s Health Plan

Trump Funds Traoré’s Health Plan

Ibrahim Traoré has shifted Burkina Faso’s security focus eastward, but relations with the West are cautiously re-engaging through health diplomacy.

Under a new five-year health cooperation Memorandum of Understanding, the United States has committed up to $147 million to support disease prevention and regional health security efforts. In return, Burkina Faso has pledged to increase its own domestic health spending by approximately $107 million.

The agreement allocates $12 million toward global health security initiatives, including strengthening local clinics and laboratory systems to improve outbreak detection and response capacity.

At the same time, Traoré’s government has launched a Presidential Health Initiative aimed at constructing 55 new medical centres across the country.

Despite previous diplomatic tensions, the renewed cooperation signals a pragmatic approach from both sides…separating geopolitical differences from urgent public health priorities.

🚨 Breaking News : Pakistan Declares ‘Open War’ on Taliban-Led Afghanistan Amid Deadly Cross-Border Escalation.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has officially declared an “open war” with the T∆liban government in Afghanistan, following intense cross-border clashes, airstrikes on Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia provinces, and mutual accusations of aggression.

Pakistani authorities claim their forces inflicted heavy casualties in retaliatory operations (codenamed “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq”), reporting 133 Afghan T∆liban fighters unalived and over 200 w0unded, along with the destruction of multiple border posts. In contrast, Afghan sources report significantly lower losses on their side and claim up to 55 Pakistani soldiers unalived in their counter-attacks.

The escalation includes reports of Pakistani airstrikes hitting targets deep inside Afghanistan, explosions rocking Kabul, and unconfirmed Afghan claims (via TOLOnews) that their forces shot down a Pakistani aircraft in Afghan airspace.

This marks one of the most serious military confrontations between the two neighbors in recent years, fueled by longstanding disputes over militant groups like the TT🅿️ and border security.

SHOCK MOMENT: CARS SWALLOWED BY SINKHOLE AT University of Nebraska Omaha

Dramatic security footage from the University of Nebraska–Omaha has captured the terrifying instant two vehicles plunged into a sudden sinkhole on campus Tuesday.

Public Safety cameras recorded the ground giving way without warning, sending both cars crashing into the gaping hole as stunned onlookers watched in disbelief. Within seconds, the pavement collapsed, swallowing the vehicles nose-first in a scene straight out of a disaster movie.

Emergency crews rushed to the site after the collapse, securing the area and assessing the damage. Officials have not yet confirmed what caused the sinkhole, but early indications suggest structural ground failure beneath the roadway.

The shocking incident has raised urgent questions about campus infrastructure and safety as students and staff reel from the heart-stopping moment caught on camera.

CHINA RAISES FIBER OPTIC PRICES FOR RUSSIA — DEPENDENCE DEEPENS

0

🟥 CHINA RAISES FIBER OPTIC PRICES FOR RUSSIA — DEPENDENCE DEEPENS

According to reporting by Vedomosti, China has raised fiber optic cable prices for Russia by 2.5 to 4 times at the start of the year.

Russian industry sources link the increase to the global artificial intelligence boom, which has created high demand for fiber optic infrastructure.

Large AI models rely on thousands of interconnected servers inside data centers — and those servers are linked by dense fiber networks.

But Russia’s need is different.

📡 NOT AI — WAR

Fiber optic cable has become a key component in Russia’s battlefield adaptation.

It is used in:
• Fiber-guided FPV drones
• Secure battlefield communications
• Electronic warfare-resistant systems

Unlike radio-controlled drones, fiber-guided systems cannot be jammed. That has made them increasingly attractive in the war against Ukraine.

🏭 DOMESTIC PRODUCTION HALTED

Russia can no longer produce fiber optic cable at scale.

The country’s only major plant — Optic Fiber Systems in Saransk — reportedly stopped operating in May 2025 after repeated Ukrainian drone strikes.

With EU and U.S. supplies restricted by sanctions, Russia’s options narrowed sharply.

🇨🇳 FULL DEPENDENCE ON CHINA

That leaves China as the primary supplier.

If prices have indeed risen 2.5–4×, it underscores a structural shift:

Russia is no longer leveraging global markets.

It is increasingly reliant on a single partner.

In wartime logistics, dependency is vulnerability.

And when your military supply chain hinges on foreign pricing decisions, strategic autonomy shrinks.

The AI boom may be driving global demand.

But on the battlefield, fiber is no longer just data infrastructure.

It’s combat infrastructure.

MAGA Billionaires Just Bought CNN and Plan to Turn It Into Trump TV

BREAKING: MAGA Billionaires Just Bought CNN and Plan to Turn It Into Trump TV

Trump-aligned billionaires Larry Ellison and his son David have secured a takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of CNN, and are now positioned to reshape one of America’s most recognized news networks in MAGA’s image.

Paramount Skydance, the Ellison-controlled media company, outlasted Netflix in a fierce bidding war for the media giant after sweetening its offer and David Ellison made a very public show of loyalty by attending Trump’s State of the Union address as the personal guest of MAGA Senator Lindsey Graham.

The Warner Bros. Discovery board formally determined that Paramount Skydance’s $31-per-share bid was the superior offer, surpassing Netflix’s competing proposal, which had only sought the company’s streaming arm and film studio operations.

Netflix officially walked away, stating the deal no longer made financial sense. With the acquisition now moving forward, Paramount Skydance will take control of CNN, HBO, CBS, and a massive portfolio of other media properties.

Perhaps most alarming to journalists and media watchers is what comes next for CNN. The network is widely expected to fall under the editorial control of Bari Weiss, the MAGA-friendly commentator who already runs CBS News and has sparked internal revolt there.

Anderson Cooper recently departed 60 Minutes to focus exclusively on CNN, meaning he will soon find himself working under the same leadership he has spent years pushing back against.

Larry Ellison, one of the wealthiest and most politically connected figures in Silicon Valley, had previously attempted a $108 billion takeover that was rejected. He returned with his son’s hostile bid, going directly to shareholders and ultimately winning full control of the entire conglomerate. Trump, who has spent years publicly attacking CNN and demanding it be sold, is now watching his allies take the keys.

The free press is under siege, and this deal is the clearest proof yet that MAGA money is buying up the institutions that are supposed to hold power accountable.

PARANOIA? Kristi Noem says DHS staff “SPIED” on her — claims Elon Musk had to save the day.

BREAKING: PARANOIA? Kristi Noem says DHS staff “SPIED” on her — claims Elon Musk had to save the day.

“Paranoia strikes deep. Into your life it will creep.” — Stephen Stills/Buffalo Springfield

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem just dropped a bombshell — and it sounds like something straight out of a political thriller.

During a MAGA podcast appearance, Noem claimed that her own Department of Homeland Security employees planted spyware on her phone and laptop to record her meetings. And who did she credit for uncovering this alleged internal surveillance plot?

Elon Musk.

Noem told podcast host Patrick Bet-David that Musk and his team were “extremely helpful” when she first took office, helping identify software allegedly downloaded by her own staff to spy on her and other political appointees.

“They had downloaded software on my phone and my laptop to spy on me, to record our meetings,” she claimed.

According to Noem, multiple staffers were “brought in, polygraphed, fired.” She also said her office now conducts regular sweeps for listening devices and even discovered a secret file room containing classified documents — now in the hands of attorneys.

If true, these claims point to chaos inside one of the most powerful agencies in the federal government. If not? They raise equally alarming questions about leadership and stability at DHS.

Either way, it’s extraordinary.

The head of Homeland Security — the department tasked with protecting the country from threats — is now saying she needed a billionaire tech mogul to uncover alleged espionage within her own ranks.

And this isn’t happening quietly. It’s unfolding on partisan podcasts, not through formal investigative channels or official reports.

No public evidence has been released. No details about what kind of spyware was allegedly used. No independent confirmation.

But the message is clear: Noem believes she walked into a department riddled with sabotage — and that Musk was the hero who exposed it.

For an agency already plagued by scandal and morale problems, the idea that internal spying was allegedly happening at the highest levels is stunning.

Whether this is whistleblower material or political theater, one thing is certain: America deserves answers when the Secretary of Homeland Security says her own department was spying on her.

Because if DHS can’t secure its own leadership, how exactly is it securing the country?- Occupy Democrats

GOVERNMENT CANNOT WITHDRAW  Edgar Lungu’S BURIAL CASE BEFORE SOUTH AFRICA’S TOP COURT, BUT HIS FAMILY CAN – SPEAKER MUTTI

GOVERNMENT CANNOT WITHDRAW ECL’S BURIAL CASE BEFORE SOUTH AFRICA’S TOP COURT, BUT HIS FAMILY CAN – SPEAKER MUTTI

By: Thomas Afroman Mwale

Speaker of the National Assembly, Nelly Mutti, says it is the family of late former President Edgar Lungu that has the authority to withdraw the burial case currently before the Supreme Court of South Africa, which has resulted in Mr Lungu remaining unburied eight months after his death.

Ms Mutti said the appellants in the matter are members of the Lungu family, who have the power to withdraw the case not the Zambian Government.

She explained that it was the family that initially challenged the repatriation of Mr Lungu’s remains to Zambia.

She described the matter as serious and advised Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa to help facilitate the return of the former president’s body to Zambia for burial.

The Speaker was responding to Mr Sampa, who asked in Parliament when Mr Lungu would be buried, describing the eight-month delay as unchristian.

Mr Sampa raised the matter while debating President Hakainde Hichilema’s State of the Nation Address on National Values and Principles.

He appealed to Vice President Mutale Nalumango and Minister of Justice Princess Kasune to urge Attorney General Kabesha to withdraw the case and allow the former president to be buried.

Former President Lungu died on 5th June 2025 and has not yet been buried due to an ongoing legal dispute between his family and the Zambian Government over his final resting place.

His family appealed a judgment by the High Court of South Africa, which ruled in favour of the Zambian Government that he should be buried in Zambia.

ZAMBIA DECIDES? ARE WE READY AS ZAMBIANS?

ZAMBIA DECIDES? ARE WE READY AS ZAMBIANS?

By: Chanda John Chimba.

The political space is often filled with noise, but sometimes that noise becomes so manufactured that it insults the intelligence of the very people it claims to represent. Recently, the so called podcast opinion polls pushed by Emmanuel Mwamba have sparked more amusement than credibility among many observers.

These polls, which appear heavily tilted toward Makebi Zulu and Harry Kalaba, attempt to create the impression that they are the most popular opposition figures in the country. But to many watching closely, this impression feels carefully manufactured rather than genuinely measured.

Across the democratic world, opinion polling follows structured and transparent methods designed to capture representative views. Yet here, citizens are asked to “vote” by calling into a podcast, a process that raises more questions than answers. Who verifies the callers? Who ensures balance? Who prevents coordinated participation? When the same familiar voices dominate the lines, it begins to look less like public opinion and more like organised theatre. Critics argue that such arrangements risk turning polling into performance, where participation is curated rather than open, and results reflect networks rather than national sentiment.

Meanwhile, the camp of Brian Mundubile remains unshaken. Those around him have consistently maintained that podcast polls do not reflect the real mood on the ground, the conversations in markets, the sentiments in communities, or the genuine concerns of citizens across the country. Political momentum is not built in call in queues, it is built through engagement, service, and trust earned over time.

What is perhaps more concerning is the growing trend of opposition figures turning their energy inward. Instead of presenting a united alternative, divisions have deepened to the point where it often appears to be opposition versus opposition rather than opposition versus the ruling party. Many citizens long for cooperation, maturity, and shared purpose, not rivalry driven by insecurity or competition for attention.

It is particularly disappointing to some observers that elements within Patriotic Front have directed intense criticism toward Mundubile. His greatest “offence,” they argue, is simply offering himself in service to the nation and receiving significant support both nationally and within party structures. That support, visible, growing, and organic, has unsettled those who did not anticipate it. But popularity born from engagement cannot be silenced by narratives crafted in studios.

Mundubile’s approach to politics has been widely described by supporters as calm, disciplined, and focused on issues rather than personalities. He has consistently emphasised policy, national development, and constructive dialogue. Where others escalate rhetoric, he responds with substance. Where others chase spectacle, he speaks of service. In a political environment often dominated by confrontation, his steady and measured tone stands out.

Many citizens say they would welcome a truly united opposition, one grounded in shared vision rather than competing egos. The country’s challenges require cooperation, maturity, and leadership anchored in responsibility.

In the end, political legitimacy is not built on staged enthusiasm or curated opinion. It is built in the hearts of the people, quietly, steadily, and authentically. And that reality cannot be manufactured, no matter how many microphones are switched on.

Copper, Crocodiles, and Courage
…Zambia Tells Uncle Sam to ‘Keep the Change’

Copper, Crocodiles, and Courage
…Zambia Tells Uncle Sam to ‘Keep the Change’

Amb. AM 26 Feb 26

In a move that has electrified the corridors of African power, Zambia, the continent’s second-largest copper producer, has sent shockwaves through diplomatic circles by rejecting a $1 billion financing proposal from the United States government.

President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration, elected on a reformist platform under the United Party for National Development (UPND), declined the deal after uncovering what local media and international observers have described as restrictive and intrusive conditions.

Among the most controversial demands: unfettered access to the personal health data of Zambian citizens and sweeping mining concessions for American interests (Reuters).

Zambia’s refusal echoes a broader continental shift. Observers have applauded the government’s bold stance, contrasting it with the historical pattern of African nations acquiescing to Western demands, often at the expense of sovereignty and integrity.

As Lusaka charts its own course, echoes ring across the southern border, where Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa—known as “The Crocodile”—similarly rebuffed U.S. overtures, famously telling Washington to “keep your money.” (Reuters)

This is no mere diplomatic spat. At stake is Zambia’s immense mineral wealth, which includes not only copper but also an increasingly strategic cache of rare earth minerals.

These resources are critical in the escalating global contest between the United States and China for technological supremacy. While both superpowers vie for influence, Zambia and Zimbabwe find themselves in the crosshairs, but, crucially, are no longer playing by the old rules.

Washington’s grip as the world’s economic trendsetter appears to be loosening. Once, the world caught a cold when America sneezed; today, African nations like Zambia and Zimbabwe reach for their own remedies.

Is this the dawn of a stronger, multipolar Africa? Whatever the answer, Lusaka and Harare now stand tall, their mineral-rich lands a testament to a new era of African resolve and resourcefulness.

ARCHBISHOP PHIRI ACTING LIKE JUDAS
…he has betrayed the ZCCB -Sishuwa Sishuwa

ARCHBISHOP PHIRI ACTING LIKE JUDAS
…he has betrayed the ZCCB -Sishuwa

By Mast Reporter

NDOLA Archdiocese Archbishop Benjamin Phiri exhibited the characteristics of a Judas Iscariot when he betrayed the position of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) that the pulpit must remain a place of prophetic truth and moral clarity, not political opportunism, Harvard-based historian Sishuwa Sishuwa has charged.

On Sunday, President Hakainde Hichilema and several UPND politicians such as Minister of Mines Paul Kabuswe and Copperbelt Province Minister Elijah Matambo attended mass at St Joseph Cupertino Catholic Church in Chifubu Parish, Ndola. During the event, the trio were allowed to use the pulpit to address congregants and pledge monetary donations to the Church for the procurement of uniforms for choir members.

Commenting on this development yesterday, Dr Sishuwa, a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University in the United States of America, criticised Archbishop Phiri for allowing politicians to use the pulpit for partisan interests or political agenda.

He said the ZCCB’s guidance on the use of the pulpit by non-priests was clear and the Archbishop, who is a member of the body, should have respected commonly agreed positions.

“Never in the history of the ZCCB has an Archbishop repudiated commonly agreed positions. As you know, I am a historian, so I consider myself sufficiently qualified and competent enough to comment on this matter. [Editor’s note: Dr Sishuwa obtained his PhD in Modern History at Oxford University and is also a Senior Lecturer in History at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.] The last time this happened was in June 2017 after then Lusaka Archdiocese Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu, who was also president of the ZCCB, issued a statement that Zambia was sliding into a dictatorship following the arrest of then opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema on a bogus charge of treason by the previous administration. Bishop Benjamin Phiri, who was then Chipata Catholic Auxiliary Bishop, distanced himself from Archbishop Mpundu’s statement, claiming that it was not approved by the ZCCB. One can excuse Archbishop Phiri’s conduct at the time, especially if it was proved that Archbishop Mpundu’s statement was issued without consultation with the ZCCB membership. His conduct this time around cannot be excused”, Dr Sishuwa said.

“On 30 January this year, the ZCCB issued a Pastoral Letter in which they advised against the use of the pulpit by anyone for partisan interests or political agenda. The Pastoral Letter did not provide for any exemptions. Archbishop Phiri was a signatory to that Letter so it cannot be said that he is ignorant of the Church’s position on this issue.

In addition to defying a collective position, Archbishop Phiri has allowed Hichilema to create a template whereby if the UPND presidential candidate is stopped from addressing the faithful using the pulpit in another parish, he will cry hatred. The conduct of Archbishop Phiri undermines collective positions and the standing of both the ZCCB and the Catholic Church in general.

If individual leaders of the various opposition parties went to the Cathedral in Ndola to pray and request to use the pulpit to address the congregation and pledge financial donations like it was done on Sunday, will Archbishop Phiri allow this since the Catholic Church is known for its impartiality, fairness, and consistency? And where would that leave the ZCCB’s guidance on this issue? Archbishop Phiri may be compromised or sympathetic to Hichilema, but he should have respected the position that was stated by the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops that the pulpit must remain a place of prophetic truth and moral clarity, not political opportunism”, he said.

Dr Sishuwa argued that Archbishop Phiri betrayed not only the ZCCB’s position but also his own stated position on the use of the pulpit.

“Not long ago, Archbishop Phiri issued a statement in which he banned the use of the pulpit by visitors. Let me quote what the same Archbishop wrote on 8 August 2022 in an internal memo addressed to the Vicars Forane, all priests, religious men and women, and all the lay faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Ndola. Here said and I quote: ‘Whenever politicians visit our churches, they should be treated like any other ordinary Christian coming to worship. At no time should they be accorded a chance to speak to the gathered faithful during Mass at the pulpit nor should they be given an audience outside Mass to speak to the parishioners within the church premises. I further admonish all the priests, especially the parish priests and their respective parish leaders, to strictly adhere to my directive without fail.

I am aware that some priests out of courtesy have in the past accorded an opportunity to politicians to speak to the gathered faithful in the name of greeting them during Mass. This is not permitted at all. Our Churches are not political platforms of whatever political pronouncements our brothers and sisters from the political sphere wish to make known to the public. They are instead places of worship and reverence of our Creator.

All the people must be free to come and worship without the worry of the environment or atmosphere whatsoever’, end of quote. This is what Archbishop Phiri said not long ago. What has changed? If the Archbishop could not respect the position of the ZCCB, he should have at least respected his own position on the use of the pulpit”, Dr Sishuwa said.

The political commentator said that while there is nothing wrong in welcoming Hichilema to any church service, it was wrong for Archbishop Phiri to allow Hichilema and his entourage to use the pulpit.

“No person goes to church in their capacity as president, minister, chief executive officer, academic, or representatives of any political party or ethnic group. They all go as ordinary worshippers. The church welcomes everyone regardless of their status in society.

That is why Hichilema, like anyone else, is welcome to attend mass if he wishes to. Indeed, this is what both Archbishop Phiri and the ZCCB have repeatedly told us, that we are all equal before them. The moment a priest treats a person before the congregation differently because of the position that person holds somewhere else, then the priest is creating hierarchies within the Christian faithful that are not provided for in Scriptures.

It is important to note that Hichilema did not attend Mass because he is president of UPND or of Zambia.  He did not attend mass because he is an elder in the SDA Church. He attended mass as a sinner and child of God and should have been treated like anyone else for the duration of the service and the time that he spent within the Church premises. When people appear before a priest in a place of worship, they do so as children of God.

Whatever status they enjoy outside the church service is immaterial when they are in a church. Neither the statement from the ZCCB nor the one from Archbishop Phiri provided any exemptions regarding who is allowed to use the pulpit beyond the priests. Both statements admonished the use of the pulpit by any visitor to the church. Hichilema, Kabuswe, and Matambo are not priests in the Catholic church; they were visitors and should not have been accorded any other status that elevated them over and above that of other worshipers”, added Dr Sishuwa.

The US-based academic argued that Archbishop Phiri exhibited four characteristics of a Judas Iscariot when he betrayed both his own previous position and the position of the ZCCB on the use of the pulpit by church visitors.

“The characteristics of the Judas Iscariot type include being a traitor, hypocrite, liar, and greed. The unacceptable conduct of Archbishop Benjamin Phiri on this subject meets all the four traits. One can say the Archbishop is a traitor because he went against what the ZCCB stated in black and white that the pulpit must remain a place of prophetic truth and moral clarity, not political opportunism.

I doubt that the ZCCB, when they sat to write that Pastoral Letter, knew that there was a traitor in their midst and that he was about to betray them. Archbishop Phiri is a hypocrite because the very things that he told other people not to do are the very things that he did himself: that the use of the pulpit before, during, or after Mass is not permitted at all.

And if a liar is a person whose word cannot be trusted, then Archbishop Phiri fits this description because he has gone against his own word and failed to live up to what he presented to us as the truth. How can anyone including priests under his care, trust what he will say today or tomorrow?’, Dr Sishuwa asked before providing the other trait of a Judas Iscariot that the Archbishop exhibited.

“Archbishop Phiri is greedy because he has betrayed collective positions in exchange for donations from politicians meant to finance the purchase of uniforms for choir members in his Archdiocese. I doubt the Archdiocese of Ndola is in such a financial ruin that it cannot afford to buy uniforms for choir members at any given parish under its care.

Moreover, if choir members at Chifubu Parish need uniforms, then it means the politicians who donated money towards the purchase of unfirms were provided with this information. But this is not the way to go. If the Archdiocese is facing financial difficulties, let the Archbishop publicise this information so that all interested Zambians, including members of the opposition, can make donations and contribute to overcoming the spirit of poverty that appears to have afflicted the Archdiocese of Ndola”, Dr Sishuwa said.

Zambia Walks Away from Washington’s $1 Billion Offer: A Mineral Moment, Not a Health One

🇿🇲 VIEWPOINT | Zambia Walks Away from Washington’s $1 Billion Offer: A Mineral Moment, Not a Health One

Zambia has formally rejected a proposed US funding package worth more than $1 billion, becoming the latest African country to step back from Washington’s new transactional health framework. The move follows Zimbabwe’s earlier withdrawal from a similar $367 million arrangement, and growing unease across parts of East and Southern Africa about the strategic strings attached to such deals.

The US proposal was framed as a major health initiative. Reuters reported that Washington would provide over $1 billion over five years, while Zambia would contribute about $340 million. But controversy emerged around clauses linked to collaboration in the mining sector and concerns over access to sensitive health data.

A Ministry of Health spokesperson stated that the draft agreement “did not align with the position and interests” of Zambia. The language was restrained. The message was firm.

Zimbabwe’s government, in rejecting its own package, cited concerns about access to critical minerals and citizen data. At the same time, Harare has announced a ban on the export of certain raw minerals, reinforcing its shift toward value addition and domestic processing. Malawi earlier signaled similar intentions to limit raw mineral exports.

Zambia has been echoing that direction. During a recent visit by a World Bank official, President Hakainde Hichilema emphasized that Africa must move beyond exporting raw commodities. The message has been consistent in his administration’s mining narrative: local content, beneficiation and industrialization must follow extraction.

This rejection therefore sits within a broader continental recalibration. It is not merely about health funding. It is about who controls the next mineral century.

Copper, lithium, cobalt and rare earth elements are now strategic assets. Zambia is Africa’s second-largest copper producer and holds significant reserves of cobalt, manganese, lithium and nickel. Global demand is accelerating due to electric vehicles, battery storage, renewable energy grids and the artificial intelligence infrastructure build-out.

Late last year, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a call with President Hichilema focused on trade and strategic cooperation. On the same day Zambia announced the upcoming visit of Chinese Premier Li Qiang. That diplomatic choreography reflected a reality: major powers are positioning themselves around Africa’s mineral corridors.

The Trump administration has openly stated that US foreign funding should not be treated as charity. Under its “America First” doctrine, economic and security returns are expected. In December, US officials referenced “collaboration in the mining sector” alongside the proposed grant package.

The question Zambia faced was straightforward: does immediate fiscal support outweigh long-term leverage over mineral access and data frameworks?

Macroeconomically, Zambia is not in the same position it was in 2021. Inflation has fallen from 22.8 percent to 7.5 percent. International reserves stand at about $5.5 billion. Approximately 94 percent of external debt restructuring agreements have been secured. Stability has improved, though fiscal space remains tight.

Walking away from a billion-dollar facility suggests either confidence in alternative financing channels or discomfort with strategic trade-offs embedded in the deal.

The geopolitical undertone is unmistakable. Africa’s resource-rich states are signaling that the era of raw extraction without domestic value capture is closing. Zimbabwe’s export ban, Malawi’s policy shift, and Zambia’s refusal to sign under current terms all point toward a recalibration of bargaining power.

This does not mean disengagement from Western partnerships. It means renegotiation from a different posture.

The mineral rush is no longer abstract. Artificial intelligence data centers require copper wiring. Electric vehicles require lithium and cobalt. Clean energy grids require vast quantities of conductive metals. Control of supply chains now shapes global power alignments.

Zambia’s decision reflects a strategic calculation: development finance must not quietly morph into resource access agreements that compromise long-term economic sovereignty.

The real test will be what follows. Rejecting a deal is one move. Building diversified, transparent, mutually beneficial partnerships is the harder task.

Africa’s mineral century is underway. The question is no longer whether the continent has leverage. It is whether it will use it wisely.

Election Map Showdown: Peter Sinkamba Takes Electoral Commission of Zambia to Court Over Delimitation Battle

Election Map Showdown: Peter Sinkamba Takes Electoral Commission of Zambia to Court Over Delimitation Battle

A high-stakes constitutional battle has erupted as Peter Sinkamba, president of the Green Party, drags the nation’s electoral boundaries process into court — seeking to halt the ongoing delimitation exercise and declare it null and void.

The petition was heard before the full bench of the Constitutional Court of Zambia, presided over by Deputy President Justice Arnold Shilimi. At the center of the dispute are sweeping allegations that the Electoral Commission of Zambia has failed to properly execute its constitutional mandate.

Sinkamba contends that the Commission misapplied constitutional amendments — particularly Article 13(5) of 2025, which expanded parliamentary representation from 156 to 226 seats — and proceeded in a sequence that undermines the integrity of the electoral framework. He argues that delimitation should precede voter registration and certification of the 2026 voters’ register, warning that the current timeline risks disenfranchising citizens.

The petition further challenges the structure of voter documentation, alleging that the absence of clearly defined ward and constituency boundaries reflects fundamental procedural flaws in the process.

Also cited as a respondent alongside the ECZ is the Attorney General, while the State, through legal representatives, has urged the court to dismiss the case as premature, maintaining that no final determination on boundaries has yet been made.

Heard by a panel of seven justices, the case now stands as a pivotal legal confrontation — one that could reshape the architecture of representation and the conduct of the next general election in Zambia.

“I am receiving it with alot of humility,  it is just humility that the people of Zambia can look at me in that respect and when they look at me with that respect, it humbles me greatly and it even makes me want to work with others even more, because that is a sign that I need to hold hands with others. You can’t underrate the wisdom of others, ” Mr. Kalaba said.

” … imagine a Government were a renowned lawyer like Makebi Zulu is part,  imagine a Government where experienced people like Given Lubinda are part, myself am part of it. We need to hold hands and we just have to reach out to everybody. This is why I am reaching out to my brother Makebi Zulu, I am reaching out to my brother Given Lubinda,  to Chishimba Kambwili,  Emmanuel Mwamba, I am reaching out to everybody, ” he said.

And Mr. Kalaba said Citizens First party understands that there is power in unity that is mutual and reciprocal adding that CF is available and open to other opposition political parties.

” … and we are saying that unity must be reciprocal,  it should be mutual and there must be respect and that is what we are trying to do, so we are reaching out. We also believe that once we come together,  not just to remove Mr. Hichilema but our coming together must be to provide the much needed leadership this country is not having. Once we do that Zambia will be better,” he said.

“And so unity is paramount and to our colleagues in the opposition our home, the Citizens First party is available to you, it is open  to you and so you are welcome, ” Mr. Kalaba said.

UNITED PARTY FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL WARNS KAFUE MP AND 8 OTHERS OVER BILL 7 VOTE

UNITED PARTY FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL WARNS KAFUE MP AND 8 OTHERS OVER BILL 7 VOTE

26th February, 2026

United Party for National Development (UPND) Deputy Secretary General Gertrude Imenda has issued a stern warning to party Members of Parliament who failed to vote for Bill 7 during its reading.

The warning follows what she described as a “shocking” development in which nine UPND MPs did not cast their votes on the bill. Imenda made it clear that disciplinary action awaits those who defied the party directive.

“You can’t sponsor your child to a prestigious university and then, when it’s time to write exams, your child decides to stay away,” she said. “Let them leave if they feel they are too big to support the party.”

Meanwhile, the Second Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Hon. Moyo, dismissed claims that some members failed to vote due to faulty electronic gadgets. The Speaker clarified that parliamentary voting devices are serviced regularly and confirmed that none malfunctioned during the session.

Among the MPs cited are former ministers Elijah Muchima and Elias Mubanga, as well as Newton Samakai, Mirriam Chonya, Kasautu Michelo, and Gary Nkombo.

Further developments are expected as the party deliberates on the next course of action.

COUNCIL OF ELDERS CALL FOR A FOURTH REPUBLIC

COUNCIL OF ELDERS CALL FOR A FOURTH REPUBLIC

By Brian Matambo | 26 February 2026

Dear Readers,

Yesterday was probably one of the most important days yet this year in Zambia’s political calendar. I was privileged to attend a momentous press conference at which two of Zambia’s decorated leaders of multiparty democracy spoke to the media. The event, organised by the Centre for Policy Dialogue, was held at M’kango Golfview Hotel in Lusaka. The press statement was given by Dr Mbita Chitala, and Prince Akashambatwa Mbikusita-Lewanika delivered a powerful keynote.

Dr Mbita Chitala carries a unique credibility in this conversation. He is not theorising about reform from the sidelines. He is one of the men who stood in the furnace of 1991 and helped compel President Kenneth Kaunda to repeal Article 4 of the Constitution, reopening Zambia to multiparty democracy. When such a man stands up and says the job was not finished, we would be foolish not to listen.

https://www.zambiavotes.com/2026/02/26/elders-call-for-a-fourth-republic/

The message delivered yesterday was clear and sober. Zambia is not merely approaching another election. Zambia is approaching a structural reckoning. As we move toward 13 August 2026, the question before us is not simply who will occupy State House. The deeper question is whether the constitutional and governance framework of this Republic can sustain another cycle without collapsing under its own contradictions.

The elders did not dramatise the moment. They diagnosed it. Constitutional contestation has never fully settled since independence. A presidency that has grown stronger through successive amendments. Institutions are drifting from national service into partisan service. The national debt stands at approximately 28 billion dollars. A cost-of-living crisis biting families and businesses alike. Load shedding is crippling productivity. Political competition is increasingly treated as something to be managed rather than embraced.

These are not isolated problems. They are symptoms of a centralised and personalised governance model that has never been fully dismantled. The first republican constitution emerged from consensus but was eroded by selective amendments. The second republican constitution entrenched the one-party state. The third republican constitution restored multiparty politics in 1991 but did not fully uproot the structural dominance of the executive. Over time, instead of diffusing power, amendments have often reinforced it.

Dr Chitala made it plain: those in government rarely complain about a framework that concentrates authority. The discomfort lies with those outside that concentration and with citizens who feel governed but not empowered. That tension has defined Zambia’s political life for decades

Prince Akashambatwa’s keynote cut through the noise of ordinary politics. He reminded us that being non-partisan does not mean being neutral between justice and injustice. That line deserves reflection. In Zambia, we often confuse neutrality with virtue. But neutrality in the face of structural imbalance is not a virtue. It is avoidance.

The National Conference scheduled for 6th and 7th March is therefore not a rally. It is not an endorsement event. It is being positioned as a forum where over twenty political leaders and representatives of civil society will sit as equals to deliberate on what has been described as a minimum program for change. The aim is not to elevate one individual. The aim is to confront the architecture itself.

At the centre of that confrontation is the proposal for a Fourth Republic. This is not a slogan. It is a call for a comprehensive review and reconstruction of the current constitutional order. A genuinely people-driven constitution, not one negotiated solely among elites. A system anchored in power sharing rather than power hoarding. A governance model that reduces personalisation and restores institutional integrity.

When Prince Akashambatwa repeatedly invoked the national anthem and its call to stand up proud and free, it was not ceremonial nostalgia. It was a challenge. How proud can citizens be if their economic survival depends on political alignment? How free can institutions operate if authority remains heavily centralised? How fearless can political actors be in an environment where competition is viewed with suspicion?

The elders are effectively saying that Zambia’s independence remains incomplete if its citizens cannot participate directly in shaping the rules that govern them. That is the moral core of the Fourth Republic argument. It is not about rebellion. It is about reconstruction.

Of course, not everyone will embrace this call. Some are comfortable with the existing framework. Some benefit from its concentration of authority. In a democracy, people are free to endorse what they choose. But comfort cannot be the measure of national progress. Sustainability must be.

What struck me most yesterday was not anger. It was urgency without hysteria. Experience without bitterness. These are men who have seen Zambia at its lowest and its most hopeful. When they speak of structural reform, it is not out of fashion. It is out of memory.

“We stand at a crossroads.” That phrase is easily overused. Yet crossroads are defined by decision. We can continue adjusting personalities within the same structure and hope for different results. Or we can examine the structure itself.

The elders have placed the question before the nation. Will Zambia manage symptoms, or will it treat the root? The coming weeks will reveal whether political leaders are prepared to think beyond immediate advantage and engage in genuine collective reconstruction.

History has a habit of revisiting unfinished business. The conversation about a Fourth Republic suggests that Zambia’s constitutional journey is not yet complete. The choice now is whether we confront that reality deliberately or wait for a crisis to force the matter upon us.

Yesterday was not ordinary. It was a reminder.

Binwell Mpundu Sees the Writing on the Wall, Will not Seek Re-election for his Nkana Parliamentary seat

Binwell Mpundu Sees the Writing on the Wall, Will not Seek Re-election for his Nkana Parliamentary seat

With the political clock ticking down toward the general elections, a major shift has emerged from Nkana Constituency: Binwell Mpundu has stepped away from the parliamentary battlefield, declaring he will not seek re-election — a decision that signals a dramatic pivot from local representation to national ambition.

Speaking during an appearance on Diamond TV, Mpundu announced that his mission in Nkana is complete and that his focus now lies on a broader political campaign — rallying nationwide support for the Tonse Alliance and its presidential candidate Brian Mundubile.

“I am now part of a bigger plan,” Mpundu declared. “I have done my part for Nkana. The people must now choose someone better than me.”

Framing his departure as a strategic elevation rather than a retreat, Mpundu described his next role as a national mobiliser — a political “freelancer” tasked with energizing support across Zambia.

Beyond electoral strategy, he outlined a policy stance centered on reform rather than reversal. Mpundu argued that flagship programs such as free education must be strengthened through expanded infrastructure and extended to tertiary institutions, warning that overcrowded classrooms and limited access to higher learning threaten to dilute the promise of opportunity.

He further called for broader government sponsorship across all higher learning institutions, insisting that access to education should not be constrained by institutional category but guaranteed as a national commitment.

As the campaign season intensifies, Mpundu’s withdrawal from Nkana marks not an exit from politics — but a calculated repositioning onto a far larger stage.

Zambia rejects Trump’s $1bn health funding linked to data access
The US previously said it was committed to a plan to give Zambia a “substantial grant package” in exchange for “collaboration in the mining sector”.

Zambia has rejected a more than $1-billion US funding package, saying conditions set by Washington do not align with its national interests.

It has now joined neighbouring Zimbabwe in turning down the Donald Trump administration’s health initiative.

The package aims to fight diseases in African countries, but in many cases, it is tied to granting Washington greater access to mineral resources and sensitive health data of citizens of the African countries.

Reuters news agency reports that under the proposed, controversial deal, the US was expected to provide more than $1 billion while Zambia would give about $340 million over the next five years.

Problematic sections

It was initially due to be signed in November last year, but had to be delayed due to some problematic sections. Now, Zambia has pulled out altogether until the draft is amended.

Reuters quoted a Zambian Ministry of Health spokesperson on Wednesday, 25 February, as saying the draft agreement “did not align with the position and interests” of Zambia, but suggested it is not linked to mineral resources.

PATRIOTIC FRONT REJECTS “BUREAUCRATIC INTERFERENCE, “SAYS PARTY REMAINS STRONG

PATRIOTIC FRONT REJECTS “BUREAUCRATIC INTERFERENCE, “SAYS PARTY REMAINS STRONG

By Jack Makayi

Lusaka 25th February 2026

The Patriotic Front (PF) has issued a strongly worded statement accusing unnamed actors of engaging in “propaganda and psychological warfare” aimed at undermining the party’s legitimacy and readiness.

In the statement released by the party leadership, PF maintained that it derives its authority from the Zambian people rather than from administrative institutions such as the Registrar of Societies or other government offices.

“The Patriotic Front is not a creation of the Registrar of Societies, nor of the police, nor of any Ministry,” the statement read. “It was built by the sweat ,sacrifices, and voters of millions of citizens.”

The former ruling party suggested that efforts are being made to shift political competition away from public support and toward what it described as bureaucratic technicalities and delays. While the statement did not directly name any institutions or individuals, it implied that certain processes were being used to weaken the opposition.

PF further asserted that it remains the “single strongest opposition force in Zambia today,” adding that its legal team and leadership are handling ongoing administrative matters with confidence.

The party also referenced past challenges, including arrests and alleged persecution of its leaders, stating that such experiences have strengthened rather than weakened its structures.

Political analysts note that the statement comes amid heightened political activity and growing debate over party structures and compliance processes in the country. However, government officials have not publicly responded to the specific allegations raised in the PF statement.

The Patriotic Front urged its members to remain calm and united, emphasizing that elections are decided by voters rather than administrative offices

As Zambia’s political landscape continues to evolve, observers say developments surrounding party registration and internal compliance may shape the dynamics of the upcoming electoral cycle.

SABOI IMBOELA COMES OUT SWINGING IN DEFENSE OF HER SG, MAMBWE ZIMBA

SABOI IMBOELA COMES OUT SWINGING IN DEFENSE OF HER SG, MAMBWE ZIMBA

A swift law enforcement operation in Lusaka has culminated in the arrest of Mambwe Zimba, accused of transmitting deceptive electronic communication under the Cyber Crimes Act.

The Zambia Police Service confirmed that Zimba — a resident of Water Works in Libala South — was apprehended following a coordinated multi-agency operation targeting alleged digital misinformation.

Authorities state that on February 22, 2026, Zimba, acting as a page administrator, published a manipulated and misleading image on the Facebook platform “Zambia for All 2026,” falsely portraying the Republican President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Force, Hakainde Hichilema, lying in a coffin.

Investigators allege the publication was deliberately crafted to mislead the public both within Zambia and beyond, heightening concern over the spread of harmful digital fabrications.

Zimba remains in police custody and is expected to appear before the courts as the case moves forward under the provisions of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025.

National Turning Point: Council of Elders for Ethical Leadership, Democracy and Development Announces High-Stakes Democracy Conference for Zambia

National Turning Point: Council of Elders for Ethical Leadership, Democracy and Development Announces High-Stakes Democracy Conference for Zambia

A pivotal national moment is taking shape as the Council of Elders for Ethical Leadership, Democracy and Development (CEELDD) announces a landmark National Conference of Democracy and Development Change Advocates, set for March 6–7, 2026 — a gathering framed as a decisive step toward confronting Zambia’s most urgent challenges.

Addressing the nation during a press briefing, conference chairperson Prince Akashambatwa Mbikusita-Lewanika declared that Zambia stands at a historic crossroads as the August 13 milestone approaches — a moment demanding reflection, unity, and bold direction.

The conference, he explained, will confront the nation’s most persistent fault lines: constitutional disputes, deepening concerns over national unity, governance tensions, economic strain, rising living costs, and entrenched poverty — issues he described as defining the country’s present and shaping its future.

Calling for broad national participation, Mbikusita-Lewanika urged stakeholders across society to rise above division and collectively chart a new path forward.

Reinforcing the call, planning committee member Mbita Chitala emphasized that the initiative is strictly non-partisan — designed as an open national platform where dialogue, reform, and development can converge in pursuit of a stronger, more cohesive nation.

The gathering is being positioned not merely as a conference, but as a forum for national reckoning — and potentially, renewal.

ERB COMMENCES INVESTIGATIONS INTO FAST DEPLETING ZESCO UNITS

ERB COMMENCES INVESTIGATIONS INTO FAST DEPLETING ZESCO UNITS

The Energy Regulation Board-ERB- says it has started conducting investigations into the fast depletion of ZESCO units.

This follows Energy Minister Makozo Chikote’s recent directive to the ERB and ZESCO to conduct an investigation into the fast depleting ZESCO units and submit the findings before the end of March 2026.

Speaking during a media engagement in Lusaka this morning, ERB Director General Elijah Sichone has assured that the findings will be submitted within the time frame given by the minister.

Mr. Sichone has however noted that the fast depletion of ZESCO units could be as a result of increased consumption of electricity as opposed to high electricity tariff as there has been no further increase in electricity tariffs since the last approval in October last year.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sichone has appealed to fuel consumers in Lusaka not to have preferred service or filling stations, saying this has contributed to perceived temporary shortages of fuel in the district.

He explained that most of the Oil Marketing Companies in Lusaka obtain the fuel from the same source, citing diesel which comes through the TAZAMA pipeline before being distributed to the companies as an example.

Trump Advisers Weigh Impact of Possible Israel–Iran Strike

A report by Politico claims senior advisers around Donald Trump have discussed how a potential Israeli strike on Iran could influence American public opinion.

According to sources cited in the report, some officials believe that if Israel were to act first and Tehran retaliated, U.S. domestic support for direct American military involvement could increase. The discussions reportedly include scenarios of coordinated or joint operations, though diplomatic engagements are said to be continuing behind the scenes.
The White House has not publicly confirmed these internal deliberations.

Analysts warn that any escalation could carry serious regional consequences, including wider conflict across the Middle East, risks to U.S. personnel, and broader geopolitical implications involving powers such as China and Taiwan.

While no official policy shift has been announced, tensions remain high as military positioning and diplomatic talks continue simultaneously.

Court Explains Service Via WhatsApp

GUEST ARTICLE: Court Explains Service Via WhatsApp

By Dickson Jere

Since 2020, before one sues in the High Court, you must first serve a “Letter of Demand” on the person to be sued. When filing your case, you must prove that you indeed served the “Letter of Demand” and the person did not heed to your demand.

In this case, lawyers attempted to serve the letter on the Defendant – a Member of Parliament -but was elusive. Even attempt to physically serve the documents at his parliamentary office proved futile as they refused to accept the documents. Left without any options, the letter was served via WhatsApp to the MP after verifying his number.

But when the case was filed in Court, the MP claimed the letter was never served on him and therefore the case should be thrown out. But the Plaintiff argued that the documents were indeed served via WhatsApp after his office refused to accept them.

An affidavit of service was filed explaining why they opted for WhatsApp service and showed “blue ticks” as received.

The High Court heard the case and observed that the was no law on how the “Letter of Demand” should be served because that comes before even one goes to Court. It is pre-litigation procedure that is not covered under service of Court process.

“WhatsApp can be used as an informal or supplementary means to notify a Defendant,” the Court said.

“However, WhatsApp alone is unsafe if you intend to rely on the letter of demand in Court because if the Defendant later denies receipt, the entire action risks being declared irregular or a nullity,” the Judge added.

The Court observed that the Electronic Communications and Transaction Act of 2021 recognizes electronic communications and electronic records generally but does not override the rules of Court on service.

“So it is advisable to serve the letter of demand physically and obtain a written acknowledgment of service or file  an affidavit of service proving delivery of the same, or failure to deliver as was the case in casu,” the Court guided.

“The Plaintiff took steps to personally or physically serve the letter of demand on the Defendant who made himself unavailable,” the Court said, adding that the MP was aware of the letter but was elusive to receive it.

The Court has since condemned the Defendant in costs to be taxed if he cannot agree on the amounts with the lawyers.

Case citation – Mvunga v Sampa – 2025/HP/0188

Lecture Notes;

1. This case underscores the need to amend our Court Rules to matchup with the current trends in electronic communications. Service via Postal Office is acceptable but not through texts and WhatsApp even though recently another Judge accepted email service as perfect for letter of demand.

2. This case also explains that service of letter of demand is not governed by any law or rule as it is done before litigation starts. So you cannot apply to Court for substituted service of letter when matter is not even before Court.

MAININI Vs MAIGURU: POLICE ARREST WOMAN FOR THROWING CHILDREN BELONGING TO FIRST WIFE

The Zambia Police Service through Chelstone Police Station has arrested a woman for allegedly throwing into the Ngwerere River two children belonging to her husband’s first wife.

Deputy Public Relations Officer Chipo Kaitisha confirmed the arrest in a statement.

She explained that the suspect, Mary Kachilika aged 26 of Meanwood Kwamwena Phase 4, was detained following a report made on February 25, 2026.

Kaitisha revealed that the report was lodged at around 14:30 hours by Titus Kamanga aged 29, who alleged that his second wife had thrown his two children from his first wife into the river.

She disclosed that the incident is believed to have occurred around 12:00 hours near Ngwerere River in Meanwood Phase 5.

Kaitisha narrated that preliminary investigations show the complainant is in a polygamous marriage, having married his second wife on January 10, 2025.

She recounted that disputes had reportedly arisen from jealousy, as one wife has children while the other does not.

Kaitisha stated that on the day of the incident, the husband had gone to work while the first wife was outside doing house chores.

She indicated that the children were inside the house eating when their mother later heard them crying and discovered they were missing.

Kaitisha added that the mother followed the cries towards Ngwerere River, where she found the suspect being pursued by a fisherman aged 28.

She highlighted that the fisherman is reported to have witnessed the accused allegedly throwing the children into the river and apprehended her.

Kaitisha pointed out that police officers, together with Fire Brigade personnel, visited the scene.

She emphasised that the bodies of the two children have not yet been recovered and search operations are ongoing.

Kaitisha confirmed that the suspect remains in police custody.

She noted that investigations into the matter are still ongoing.

Ilhan Omar defends her heckling of Trump at the State of the Union — “He killed my constituents.”

BREAKING: Ilhan Omar defends her heckling of Trump at the State of the Union — “He killed my constituents.”

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar isn’t apologizing — and she isn’t backing down.

After interrupting Donald Trump’s State of the Union to confront him over the deaths of two of her Minneapolis constituents, Omar went on CNN and made it crystal clear: silence was never an option.

When asked by Wolf Blitzer whether she should have followed Democratic leadership’s advice to sit quietly or skip the speech altogether, Omar didn’t hesitate.

“No,” she said. “It was really unavoidable.”

Why? Because as Trump spoke about “protecting Americans,” Omar says he ignored the fact that two Americans — Renee Good and Alex Pretti — were killed under his administration’s watch.

“I just had to remind him,” she said bluntly. “His administration was responsible for killing two of my constituents.”

That’s not heckling. That’s accountability.

Omar brought four Minnesotans with her as guests to the address — people she says have lived through what she described as a federal “occupation,” traumatized by aggressive law enforcement actions in their communities. She said it was critical to “bear witness” and “hold the space” for neighbors who have suffered.

When Blitzer pointed out that Democrats previously criticized Republicans for interrupting President Biden’s State of the Union, Omar stood firm.

“I do not [have regrets],” she said. “It was important for my constituents to see me there.”

This wasn’t political theater, she argued. It was personal. Two families in her district lost loved ones. And as the president spoke about safety, she says their names deserved to be heard.

Omar framed her protest as a moral obligation — not a breach of decorum. In her view, failing to speak up would have meant abandoning the people who sent her to Washington.

Whether critics call it disruption or courage, Omar made one thing unmistakable: when she believes lives are on the line, party strategy takes a back seat.

And for her constituents in Minneapolis, she says, being present — and being vocal — mattered more than staying silent.

Modi Slams Violence Against Civilians, Puts Netanyahu on the Spot at Knesset

Narendra Modi told Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, that “no cause justifies killing civilians,” in remarks widely seen as a bold moral rebuke to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Modi emphasized India’s opposition to terrorism while underlining the importance of protecting civilian lives, creating a diplomatically tense moment amid ongoing military operations.

Despite close defense and technology ties between India and Israel, New Delhi’s message highlighted humanitarian concerns and the need for restraint.

Iran’s FM says deal with US ‘within reach’; Trump says he prefers diplomacy
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s remarks in advance of Geneva talks come as a second US aircraft carrier heads towards the Middle East.

Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi has said that a deal with the United States to avert conflict is “within reach”, in advance of talks between the two countries in Geneva, Switzerland.

Araghchi said that the “historic opportunity to strike an unprecedented agreement” would depend on whether “diplomacy is given priority”, in a possible reference to US President Donald Trump’s ongoing threats to use military force against Iran.

In a statement shared on social media on Tuesday, Iran’s top diplomat added that his country remained “crystal clear” that it would “under no circumstances ever develop a nuclear weapon“, while also recognising the right of Iran’s people to the benefits of “peaceful nuclear technology”.

Indirect talks scheduled for Thursday in Geneva will be the third round of discussions between Washington and Tehran, mediated by Oman, which has said it hopes to see “a positive push to go the extra mile towards finalising the deal”.

Delivering his State of the Union address in Washington, DC, later on Tuesday evening, Trump again struck a belligerent tone towards Tehran. While saying that he preferred diplomacy, he accused Iran of developing missiles that could “soon reach the United States of America”.

“My preference is to solve this problem through diplomacy. But one thing is certain, I will never allow the world’s number one sponsor of terror, which they are, by far, to have a nuclear weapon. Can’t let that happen,” Trump said.

Trump said that after the US attack on Iran’s nuclear sites in June 2025, “they were warned to make no future attempts to rebuild their weapons programme, in particular, nuclear weapons – yet they continue”.

“They’re starting it all over. We wiped it out, and they want to start all over again, and are at this moment, again, pursuing their sinister ambitions. We are in negotiations with them. They want to make a deal, but we haven’t heard those secret words: ‘We will never have a nuclear weapon’,” he added.

‘Strong fortress’
Araghchi has been leading the negotiations on behalf of Iran, while White House envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, have been representing the US.

Following the most recent talks in Geneva, Trump said that Tehran had 10 to 15 days to make a “meaningful deal”, while again referring to the possible threat of military intervention amid a huge US military build-up near Iran.

The talks on Thursday will take place as the US Navy has docked its largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R Ford, at a NATO base on the Greek island of Crete, on its way towards the Middle East, where the US has been increasing its military presence in recent weeks.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has also been conducting military drills in the south of the country, saying that it has built “a strong fortress” in the area.

Al Jazeera’s Tohid Asadi, reporting from Tehran, said that “the public mood in Iran is a mixture of different sentiments, and oscillation between fear of the war, in terms of the military build-up by the Americans in the region, and hope for diplomacy”.

Asadi said the talks were taking place alongside “public dissatisfaction”, as seen with the “massive protests” that took place across Iran in December, “initially driven by the economic hardship“.

“Right now, we also hear sounds echoing of dissatisfaction in political and social spheres, over the past three days at least, in some major universities in the capital and across the country,” he added.

The US has acknowledged that it caused a shortage of US dollars in Iran, contributing to severe economic consequences, including the collapse of one of Iran’s largest banks in the lead-up to December’s street protests.

The Swedish S33x Federation had been trying for some time to establish this new sport, so they were very pleased with the achievement and welcomed this championship:

🗣 “Like any sport, getting the results you want in s33x requires training.”

LITHIUM LOCKDOWN! Zimbabwe BANS RAW MINERAL EXPORTS IN SHOCK MOVE

LITHIUM LOCKDOWN! Zimbabwe BANS RAW MINERAL EXPORTS IN SHOCK MOVE

In a dramatic policy bombshell, the government of Zimbabwe has slammed the brakes on all exports of raw minerals and lithium concentrates  effective immediately.

Mines Minister Polite Kambamura announced the sweeping suspension on Wednesday, declaring it a move taken “in the national interest.” The ban applies to all unprocessed minerals even shipments already in transit and will remain in force until further notice.

The decision fast-tracks earlier plans to halt lithium concentrate exports by 2027, piling pressure on mining companies to process and refine minerals locally instead of shipping them abroad.

With the world scrambling for lithium and rare earths vital for electric vehicles, smartphones and military technology, Harare is tightening its grip on resources seen as the backbone of the green-energy revolution.

Zimbabwe, home to Africa’s largest lithium reserves, has long exported much of its output to China for refining. Now, authorities say a new era of in-country beneficiation and tougher oversight has begun.

“MY FATHER NEVER BORROWED ANY MONEY TO SUSTAIN NIGERIA”

-Zainab Abacha opens up

“There was a sustained media war waged by the West against my late father because he was one man with the courage and resolve to never bow to their manipulative schemes.

They blacklisted Nigeria during that period, blocking access to many international opportunities, all in an effort to force him to crawl on his knees and come begging.

Yet, starting from virtually nothing, he reduced Nigeria’s external debt from approximately $36 billion to $27 billion and dramatically boosted foreign exchange reserves from about $494 million to $9.6 billion.

Western-style democracy has worked for them, but my father was more like Jerry Rawlings of Ghana—a leader determined to reset Nigeria in a rugged, no-nonsense way—because a soft, easy-going approach simply doesn’t work here.”
