IRAN WAR A BLESSING IN DISGUISE FOR HH – KALABA … he will now blame all his failure and autopilot leadership on Iran. No wonder loadshedding is back
The US/Israel war against Iran has now become a blessing in disguise for Hakainde Hichilema as he will blame all his failures and autopilot leadership on the war, says Citizens First (CF) leader Harry Kalaba.
In an interview yesterday, Kalaba stressed the importance of opposition leaders joining forces to remove what he described as the visionless UPND leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema from office.
He said Zambians could not allow President Hichilema to continue in office as even some of the cosmetic solutions they had tried to come up with like ending loadshedding for the sole purpose of winning the elections were now blowing up right before their faces.
”Most Zambians are now reporting that the blackouts https://dailyrevelationzambia.com/iran-war-a-blessing-in-disguise-for-hh-kalaba-he-will-now-blame-all-his-failure-and-autopilot-leadership-on-iran-no-wonder-loadshedding-is-back/
A lawyer received ZMK 260,000 in the firm account from his client for conveyancing work. Later, the client made a mistake and deposited another ZMK 260,000. A further ZMK 15, 500.00 was deposited for legal fees. However, the lawyer made multiple withdraws from the account and a sum of ZMK 315,000.00 was transferred to a third party Noah Chileshe. Simply, all the monies were withdrawn from the account.
The client realized that he had made a double payment and requested for refund. But the lawyer claimed that ZMK 315,000.00 was erroneously paid to scammer. And that he reported the matter to the police who arrested and charged the scammer and that he was even jailed.
Unsatisfied with the explanation, the client took the Lawyer to the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) Legal Practitioners Committee (LPC). The LPC found him wanting and referred him to Disciplinary Committee that also found him liable for professional misconduct. They then recommended to the High Court to banish him from practicing law for good.
In the High Court, the lawyer maintained his innocence and repeated his story that he was scammed and the scammer was even convicted. On the cash withdrawals, he indicated that he had wanted to payback the client in cash but then he deposited the money back in the account.
Two Judges sat to look at the case. They determined that money in law firm “client accounts” must always be there and ready to be paid out to client on demand without any stories. It is not money to be spent anyhow by lawyers.
“While the Respondent (lawyer) frames this as an honest mistake resulting from fraud, the legal characterization of the transaction remains that of misappropriation,” the Judges noted.
“The client’s money was used to settle a liability or fulfill an instruction that was not that of the client, thereby depriving the client of the immediate use and ownership of those funds,” the Court ruled.
The Judges noted that even though the lawyer claimed to have been scammed, that very act does not absolve him of the responsibility as the offence he committed was that of professional misconduct and breach of fiduciary duty owed to his client.
The Court noted that since 2018 when the incident happened, the lawyer has failed to refund his client the money which he claimed was sent by error to a fraudster.
“It is trite that a legal practitioner holds client money on a strict trust,” the Judges said.
“Once such funds are removed, transferred or otherwise dissipated without authorization, thereby placing them beyond the reach of the client’s instructions, the breach is complete and irremediable, irrespective of the legal practitioners subsequent actions or intentions,” the Court explained.
The Judges the ruled that the lawyers should be struck off the roll of practitioners (banished) and he will no longer practice law in Zambia.
Case citation – LAZ v Makondo Simubala – 2011/HP/1319 and Judgment passed yesterday, March 31st, 2026.
Lecture Notes:
1. This Judgment is important reminder to lawyers that money in the law firm “client account” is not yours but for the client. Therefore, it should be ready at any given time when the client makes a demand. You cannot use this money for other things outside the client instructions. By law, lawyers are required to keep client money in a separate account from the office account. Client money is held in trust and even when stolen, lawyer is still held accountable.
Netanyahu Declares Victory Iran No Longer an Existential Threat to Israel
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a clear message on April 1 stating that Iran no longer poses an existential threat to the Jewish state.
This follows weeks of intense US-Israeli airstrikes that hammered Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities ballistic missile production sites and deeply buried underground bunkers.
The operations including efforts like Rising Lion dismantled key parts of the regime’s nuclear and terror infrastructure that Tehran had poured decades and billions into building.
Netanyahu’s words send a strong signal. Israel backed by decisive American leadership under President Trump has shifted the balance of power in the Middle East. The ayatollahs’ massive investment in nukes missiles and proxy armies has been largely wasted and turned to rubble. The nightmare scenario of a nuclear Iran capable of wiping Israel off the map is now off the table.
For years Iran funded groups like Hezbollah and Hamas while racing toward the bomb. Weak diplomacy only made the mullahs bolder. Bold decisive action has finally checked that aggression. Strength works where endless talks failed.
Skeptics on X are already spinning defeat or calling it an exit strategy but the results speak louder. Iran is significantly diminished. The region stands a better chance at de-escalation and real security because America and Israel refused to back down.
This is what peace through strength looks like.

Breaking News : UAE Signals Readiness to Support U.S.-Led Effort to Reopen Strait of Hormuz Amid Escalating Tensions
The United Arab Emirates is preparing to support a potential U.S.-led coalition effort to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, as concerns grow over prolonged disruption to global energy flows and maritime security.
According to verified reporting by The Wall Street Journal, the UAE has indicated its willingness to participate in operations aimed at restoring access through the chokepoint, including the possibility of military involvement if required. The move comes as the situation in the Gulf continues to deteriorate, with the strait facing partial closure amid ongoing conflict dynamics involving Iran.
The UAE is reportedly engaging in diplomatic efforts to build international backing for such a mission. This includes pushing for a coordinated response involving the United States, European nations, and key Asian partners heavily dependent on Gulf energy supplies. Discussions have also centered on seeking legitimacy through international frameworks, including potential United Nations involvement.
While no final decision on direct military engagement has been publicly confirmed, the UAE is understood to be evaluating multiple support roles. These may range from logistical and naval assistance to mine-clearing operations and broader maritime security contributions alongside allied forces.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical energy corridors, handling a significant portion of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments. Any sustained disruption carries major implications for international markets and regional stability.

Breaking News : U.S. Deploys Third Aircraft Carrier to Middle East in Major Show of Force
The United States Navy has dispatched the powerful Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush and its full strike group from Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, heading toward the Middle East.
This deployment would bring the total to three U.S. carrier strike groups in the region, joining the USS Abraham Lincoln, which continues active operations in the Arabian Sea, and the USS Gerald R. Ford, currently undergoing repairs after an onboard fire but still part of the regional presence.
Senior U.S. officials have indicated that Washington is prepared to maintain all three carrier strike groups in the U.S. Central Command area for the foreseeable future. This rare concentration of naval firepower provides unmatched airpower, deterrence, and operational flexibility as the U.S.-Israeli campaign against Iran, known as Operation Epic Fury, continues into its fifth week. The move supports sustained strike missions, protection of vital shipping lanes like the Strait of Hormuz, and broader maritime security amid escalating tensions.
The USS George H.W. Bush departed on March 31, 2026, accompanied by escort warships including guided-missile destroyers. While the Navy describes it as a regularly scheduled deployment, the timing aligns with the intense operational demands in the theater.
Transit across the Atlantic and into the region will take several weeks, but the addition bolsters America’s ability to project power and respond rapidly to threats.
This significant buildup reflects the high stakes in the ongoing conflict, where U.S. forces have already conducted thousands of sorties.
Analysts note that maintaining three carriers simultaneously in one theater is uncommon outside of major global conflicts and signals a long-term commitment to stability and deterrence in the Middle East.
Breaking News | IRGC Issues Strike Threat Against 18 U.S. Companies Across the Middle East, Sets April 1 Deadline
Iran’s Isl∆mic Revolution∆ry Gu∆rd Corps (I₹GC) has issued a formal threat to attack the regional operations of 18 American technology, defense, and finance companies across the Middle East, with strikes set to commence at 8:00 PM Tehran time on Wednesday, April 1.
The threat was published through Sepah News, the IRGC’s official outlet, and later amplified via the IRGC’s official Telegram channel. The full list of named companies includes: Apple, Google, Microsoft, Meta, IBM, Cisco, Intel, Oracle, Dell, HP, Nvidia, Palantir, JPMorgan Chase, Tesla, General Electric, Boeing, Spire Solutions, and UAE-based AI firm G42.
In its statement, the IRGC accused these companies of functioning as intelligence assets, stating that American information technology and AI corporations are the primary elements involved in designing and tracking targets for strikes against Iran. The IRGC declared that for every act it characterizes as an assassination on Iranian soil, a corresponding facility belonging to one of the named companies will be targeted for destruction.
The statement included a rare and explicit civilian warning. Employees of all listed companies were instructed to vacate their workplaces immediately. Residents within a 1-kilometer radius of any associated facility across all countries in the region were urged to relocate to a safe area before the stated deadline.
The threat represents a significant escalation in the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict, marking the first time Tehran has publicly extended its declared target list from military installations and energy infrastructure to multinational commercial and technology corporations operating in the Gulf.
The U.S. State Department confirmed it is tracking the threat and has advised American citizens in Saudi Arabia, including those near hotels, U.S. businesses, and educational institutions, to shelter in place.

🚨 Breaking News : Ukraine’s Top General Outlines 2026 Strategy – Focus on Strategic Defense to Exhaust Russian Forces While Preparing Future Offensives
In a major development on the ongoing war, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has declared that Ukraine’s primary goal for 2026 is to conduct a strategic defensive operation. The aim is to deter Russian advances, prevent any loss of territory, exhaust the enemy’s forces and resources, build up reserves, enhance troop training, and create conditions for large-scale offensive operations in the future.
Syrskyi emphasized that while defense remains central, Ukraine will not rely on it alone. He stated: “Our goal, of course, for this year is to conduct a strategic defensive operation to deter the enemy, prevent the loss of territory, exhaust his forces and means, create conditions for conducting large-scale offensive operations, build up our reserves, ensure high-quality training of service members, and at the same time carry out counteroffensive and offensive operations in those directions where the enemy is weak.”
This approach is designed to maintain operational and strategic initiative, forcing Russia to divert significant manpower, weapons, and ammunition. Syrskyi noted that these efforts ultimately serve the goal of liberating Ukrainian territory.
The statement comes amid reports of intensified Russian assaults along multiple frontline sectors, which Ukrainian forces continue to repel.
Source: Direct quotes and reporting from General Syrskyi’s recent interview with ICTV (aired March 30, 2026), as covered by credible Ukrainian media outlets including Ukrinform, Obozrevatel, Militarnyi, Rubryka, and Mezha(dot)net. Similar strategic outlines appeared in his earlier January 2026 interview with LB(dot)ua
This announcement provides a clear window into Ukraine’s military planning for the year ahead, balancing resilient defense with proactive actions to wear down the adversary. Stay tuned for further developments from the front.
United States: Ohio-Class SSGN Submarine Spotted Near Mediterranean, Special Forces Deployment Suspected
A U.S. Navy nuclear-powered guided missile submarine (SSGN), believed to be USS Ohio, has been detected conducting logistical operations near Gibraltar, a key gateway to the Mediterranean and Middle East.
The movement is drawing global attention, as SSGN submarines are among the most versatile assets in the U.S. arsenal, often deployed for high-priority missions. Only 4 out of 18 Ohio-class submarines have been converted for this role, capable of carrying up to 154 Tomahawk missiles.
The platform is also designed to support special operations forces, fueling speculation that Washington may be preparing covert underwater infiltration missions as tensions continue to escalate.
Iran has confirmed the killing of General Jamshid Eshaghi in a joint US-Israeli airstrike.
Eshaghi was a brigadier general and head of budget and finance at Iran’s military headquarters.
He had been sanctioned by the US in 2025 for his involvement in a global network of Iranian oil shipments to China, the proceeds of which were allegedly used to finance militant groups such as Hamas, Houthis and Hezbollah.
According to the IRGC, Eshaghi was killed along with several members of his family, although further details of the incident were not released.
His death makes him one of the highest-ranking Iranian officials killed since the start of the war, with the US and Israel saying it has weakened Iran’s military leadership, although some analysts believe Iran is still capable of withstanding the attacks.
Russia: Military Transport Plane Crash in Crimea Kills 29
Russia’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that an Antonov An-26 military transport aircraft crashed during an operation over the Crimean Peninsula early Wednesday.
All 29 personnel on board, including crew members and military passengers, were killed, with no survivors reported.
Officials stated the aircraft suffered a critical mechanical failure, lost control, and crashed in a remote area. Authorities stressed the incident was not related to combat or any external attack.
Messi did what Ronaldo can never do in his career.
Leo Andrés Messi decided to let Nicolás Otamendi take the penalty at La Bombonera.
The 38-year-old defender could be playing his last home game in front of Argentina fans, and Messi wanted to give him that moment.
LM10 had the chance to score a brace against Zambia, but he chose to give the penalty to his teammate so he could be remembered as a player who made an impact towards the end of his career in Argentina 🇦🇷
Otamendi took the penalty, and the game ended in a 5–0 victory over Zambia.
This is something many football c-ritics claim Ronaldo can never do in his ca-reer because they believe he wants all the glory to himself.
Indeed, what Messi did was special—but does that mean Ronaldo can’t do the same thing❓

🇮🇱 Israel: Defense Minister Outlines Plan to Seize Southern Lebanon, Establish “Security Zone”
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced a plan to establish a full security zone inside southern Lebanon, extending control up to the Litani River and key infrastructure including remaining bridges.
The proposal includes preventing over 600,000 displaced Lebanese civilians from returning south of the Litani River, and demolishing villages near the border using a model similar to operations in Gaza. Katz stated the objective is to eliminate threats along Israel’s northern frontier permanently.
He also warned that Israel would respond to any cross-border fire from elsewhere in Lebanon and maintain a continuous military presence, similar to its posture in Syria and Gaza.
Critics argue the move would amount to full-scale occupation rather than defensive border security.
*Zambia Declares Fuel Emergency, Suspends Taxes to Ease Crisis*
Lusaka, 31st March 2026 – The Government of Zambia has declared the current fuel supply situation an emergency and announced immediate measures to cushion citizens and businesses.
At a special Cabinet meeting chaired by President Hakainde Hichilema, ministers approved the zero-rating of Value Added Tax (VAT) and the suspension of excise duty on petrol and diesel imports. These measures will take effect from 1st April 2026 and run for three months.
Minister of Information and Media and Chief Government Spokesperson, Hon. Cornelius Mweetwa, said the decision is aimed at reducing the cost of fuel and stabilizing supply during the crisis.
“This intervention is designed to ease the burden on households and businesses while government works to restore normal fuel availability,” Hon. Mweetwa explained.
The announcement comes as part of broader efforts to safeguard Zambia’s socio-economic stability amid rising concerns over fuel shortages.
IF UPND WANTS TO TAKE OVER NDC, THEY SHOULD BRING REAL MEN TO THE FIGHT AND NOT THOSE MASHED POTATOES THEY HAVE SENT
30/03/2026
As National Democratic Congress, NDC, we strongly condemn the way the UPND has been trying to destabilize a number of political parties in the country.
The recent fake convention held at a Government Lodge by individuals claiming to represent NDC, but working with UPND is very sad but expected of the UPND. This is so because arresting the opposition and trying to take over political parties by force seems to be their only strategy to stay in power.
We warn all impostors that we will not allow anyone to hijack our party. From 2021, the NDC has faced all sorts of attacks from the UPND, we have fought battles that the nation is not even aware of. But we shall continue to overcome as we have done with every spear they have thrown at us.
To those behind this sham, if you are looking for a fight with me and the NDC, bring your A-game and real contenders, bring real men to the fight and not the mashed potatoes you have assembled. We are ready for you and we shall eat you for breakfast.
Zambia deserves better than a ruling party that is scared of democracy and obsessed with destabilizing the opposition. We will not let fear and intimidation dictate our politics. The One party participatory system ended in 1991 and UPND needs to accept and appreciate Zambia’s choice for plural politics.
For clarity, the NDC has completed 7 Provincial Conferences and are on track for our national Convention next month, after wrapping up the remaining 3 provinces. Do not be fooled- our party’s growth can not be stopped. Our hard work, passion and dedication for the NDC will continue to define how we do our politics.
As a government that likes eavesdropping on all our Conversations, I’m sure they hear how on a daily basis people call us from across the country to join us, and this is not sitting well with them. Compared to their numbers, we should not even be a threat, but we are dealing with very evil and insecure people and any steady growth and organization of a party they want to come in and destroy.
As the NDC President, and the only Commander in Chief of our party, the direction to our members is simple- the NDC will continue to mobilize and engage our people on the ground. We shall yet again ignore this latest attack but keep our eyes open as we continue our programmes in all provinces.
May God bless Zambia and may all those who scheme evil against our party and the entire democracy of our beloved country be exposed.

I WILL SUPPORT HH, UPND WITH ALL MY RESOURCES AND LIFE- EMMANUEL KASAMBO AS HE URGES OPPOSITION POLITICAL PARTIES TO HEAL AND MOVE ON
Ndola – 31st March, 2026
United Party for National Development (UPND) Member on the Copperbelt, Mr Emmanuel Kasambo, has pledged to continue supporting Republican President, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, and United Party for National Development (UPND) because he believes in the Republican President, Mr Hakainde Hichilema’s policies.
Mr Kasambo says he is going to use his resources, his energy and entire life to ensure that Republican President, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, wins big in the forthcoming general election in August 2026.
The Mpongwe Business man was speaking today in Ndola where he held a press briefing following a video on social media where he was seen alighting from a chopper recently and some opposition party leaders took it out of context.
The UPND member further clarified that he has been hiring the very helicopter for the past 13 years, even during his time as a PF Member. He further wondered as to why the issue of the chopper was not an issue then in PF, but after joining UPND, those in opposition are making a big issue now. “People like Emmanuel Mwamba know very well, and they should accept that I have now joined UPND and let them move on with their lives and respect my decision to join the party i love ” He said.
Mr Kasambo further apologised to the United Party for National Development ( UPND) family for the inconvenience the video may have caused, as it was not meant for public display.
He also assured all members of the party and general public that this will never happen again as he is a man from the floor and does not mean to flaunt the lavish life, adding that his aim is to uplift the living standards of his people in Mpongwe District, which is in line with Republican President, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, and UPND New Dawn Government’s vision.
WE CAN’T CONTINUE PUNISHING THE ECL FAMILY – MUNDUBILE.
…. Calls for a dignified burial of the late Sixth Republican President.
Lusaka – 31 March 2026 (Smart Eagles)
Tonse Alliance president Brian Mundubile has called for respect of the wishes of the Lungu Family so that Zambia’s sixth Republican president Edgar Chagwa Lungu can be put to rest.
Speaking in Lusaka today, Hon Mundubile said it is painful that Dr Lungu remains unburied adding that Government must act with urgency and compassion.
Hon Mundubile has since urged Zambians to continue praying for the family.
He said Dr Lungu served the country diligently and should be given a dignified send-off.
“We all know that our Sixth Republican president still remains unburried. We have tried to remain quiet that our friends in Government will find it fitting, to think about the grieving family and be able to allow the wishes of the family, and the wishes of the deceased to prevail so that we put ECL to rest.
I want to join all of us to continue praying for the family. We can’t continue punishing the Lungu family. He served this country diligently. We implore government so that we move expeditiously and give respect to our late former president by giving him a dignified burial so that we also respect his wishes and wishes of the family,” he said.
And Hon Mundubile also stated that Dr Lungu’s development record shows that he worked even in areas where he was not voted for.
He said this is the kind of leadership Zambia needs.
“The Zambian people have something to remember. If you go to Monze, you will find police houses, hospitals. You go to Dundumwezi, Solwezi will talk about the Mutanda, Zambezi Road.
He is remembered everywhere because President Lungu is a President for all Zambians. He endevoured to take development even in areas he did not get votes. Chingola Solwezi Road is an example of this,” he said.
🇿🇲 BRIEFING | Mundubile Tells EU Zambia’s Electoral Environment “Not Free nor Fair”
Tonse Alliance leader and presidential aspirant Brian Mundubile has raised concerns over Zambia’s electoral environment, telling a European Union election monitoring delegation that the current political climate is not conducive for credible polls ahead of the August 13 general elections.
Speaking during a meeting in Lusaka, Mundubile argued that the country’s democratic space has narrowed significantly, warning that the credibility of the electoral process is at risk. His concerns focused heavily on the leadership of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), particularly Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis, whom he described as conflicted due to alleged political associations.
According to Mundubile, “how does one expect Mrs. Zaloumis… to oversee a free and fair election? It’s impossible.”
He further urged the EU team to consult reports from international and local bodies, including the US State Department, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the Law Association of Zambia, and the UN Human Rights Commission, which he claims have highlighted concerns about Zambia’s democratic trajectory since 2021.
A central claim in his submission was the restriction of opposition political activity. Mundubile stated that opposition parties have not been allowed to hold public rallies, arguing that this undermines the fairness of the electoral playing field.
“Here I am as an opposition leader… we have never been allowed to hold a public rally. How can anyone claim we are heading into a free and fair election?” he said.
His remarks come amid ongoing legal challenges. Within recent days, Mundubile has faced a cybercrime charge and has also been questioned over alleged irregular payments linked to past transactions.
He suggested that such developments, including the reported confiscation of personal devices, risk affecting his political participation ahead of the elections.
Framing the issue more broadly, Mundubile cautioned that Zambia’s democratic standards are under pressure, stating that elections must be judged not only by voting day but by the entire process leading up to it.
“An election date is not the election… the election is the process,” he told the delegation.
The claims, however, remain those of the opposition, and authorities have not yet formally responded to these specific allegations.
The summon and recording of a warn and caution on Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) and Tonse Alliance president Brian Mundubile by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over the lucrative road contracts is long overdue.
The road contracts, which were awarded between 2014 and 2020, have attracted public interest with some questioning whether the ACC case brought against Mundubile is genuine or it’s the UPND government targeting a political opponent.
The law, through the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012 (Section 28) mandates a written disclosure or declaration of any personal interest by public officers before a public body.
Failure to declare interest or participating in public business contracts or making decisions where a conflict exists is deemed a criminal offence, often leading to conviction, jail sentences, and forfeiture of acquired assets.
Brian Mundubile was a public officer serving as Minister in the Patriotic Front (PF) government when participated in the high value contracts amounting to K1.5 billion.
Sixth Republican President Edgar Chagwa Lungu appointed Mundubile as the provincial minister for Northern Province in 2016, a position he served up to July 2019, before he was transferred to the position of Government Chief Whip.
The companies in which Mundubile is alleged to have interest were awarded lucrative contracts while he served as senior government official.
The ACC action on Mundubile is within the confines of the law. The action also provides Mundubile an opportunity to clear his name on alleged brought against him.
Once proven innocent, Mundubile will ride with head high as he seeks to contest for the Republican presidency in the August 13, 2026 general elections.
Political analysts have commended the ACC for ensuring that those who are seeking to serve in elective positions come with clean hands.
The law’s demand for people seeking political office to declare interest on public business contracts is a matter of principle and ethics. This enhances good governance and curbs conflict of interest.
The law on conflict of interest in Zambia are governed by the ACC Act No. 3 of 2012, which mandates that public officers must disclose any personal business interest before a public body.
FDD and Tonse Alliance spokesperson George Chisanga has labelled the ACC’s instigations into Mundubile’s high-value road contracts as witch-hunt. However, Chisanga’s outbursts collapses when he fails to tell the public whether Mundubile declared interest in the companies that were awarded lucrative road contracts.
As a lawyer of many years at the bar, Chisanga should be telling the public if a serving cabinet minister is permitted to engage in public business contracts without conflicting the law.
There are also questions as to whether the road projects awarded to companies in which Mundubile has business interests were completed, delivered to the government, and paid for in full. “People should not only concentrate on the project delivery but also ethical behaviour by the so-called leaders.”
The allegations that companies linked to Mundubile were paid in full for road contracts that were not fully executed are not new. The story is something that has been heard from the time the PF lost political power in 2021.
Senior members of the former ruling party have come out in public and claimed of being in possession of evidence, proving that Mundubile received money for undelivered road contractual works.
One such senior PF member is former cabinet minister Chishimba Kambwili, who publicly warned of unleashing credible evidence against Mundubile.
Why don’t some people want to say things the exact way they are? Who told the nation Mundubile was awarded contracts by the previous government that he did not deliver but just got away with the money?
Was it not Chishimba Kambwili, who actually promised that he had evidence enough to prove to the nation beyond doubts about his claim.
Analysts expressed disappointment at Chisanga, a lawyer, who has claimed political witch-hunt in the matter.
Anyways, some political commentators have told Chisanga that, “indeed, some witch-hunt to recover public resources is good witch-hunt.”
A few cases have been cited as examples where individuals have been convicted and jailed for failing to declare interest.
Dr. Brian Chituwo, the former minister of Heath, received a one year suspended sentence in 2019 for failing to declare interest in a Constituency Development Fund project (CDF) project.
Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, alias GBM, the former minister of Defence, was sentenced in October 2024 to five years imprisonment with hard labour for multiple counts of conflict of interest, money laundering, and possession illegal property.
Therefore, Chisanga and his Tonse Alliance cronies should understand that conflict of interest is what earned GBM his time in prison
The Tonse Alliance should not mislead people. The probe against Mundubile specifically focuses on the manner in which various contracts for road construction in the Northern, Eastern, Western, and Central Provinces were awarded to companies in which Mundubile allegedly holds interests.
According to the ACC, these contracts were awarded between 2014 and 2020 and carry an estimated total contract value of over K1.5 billion.
⚖️ COURT OF APPEAL CLEARS DPP TO REVIVE HONEY BEE CASE IN MAJOR LEGAL BREAKTHROUGH
A dramatic legal turnaround has reignited the high-profile Honey Bee case, after the Court of Appeal ruled that the Director of Public Prosecutions can proceed with an appeal—despite it being filed out of time.
The ruling effectively breathes new life into the case involving former Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya and others, who were acquitted in 2021 over the controversial procurement of 22,500 health centre kits valued at $17 million.
Delivering the decision, Court of Appeal Deputy President Chalwe Mchenga dismissed a challenge against the High Court’s earlier ruling, which had granted Gilbert Phiri permission to file the appeal out of time.
Justice Mchenga held that the High Court’s decision was merely interlocutory—meaning it could not be contested at this stage—and declared the opposing application incompetent.
The development traces back to a landmark decision on September 30, 2025, when the Economic and Financial Crimes Division of the High Court ordered the reopening of the Honey Bee case. This followed arguments by the DPP that the 2021 acquittal of Dr. Chilufya and eight others was procedurally flawed.
According to Phiri, the acquittal was irregularly entered before all pleas had been taken—and critically, without the consent of the prosecution.
In response, Honey Bee Pharmacy Limited and other parties sought to block the move by appealing to the Court of Appeal—but that effort has now been decisively shut down.
With the legal barriers cleared, the stage is now set for one of Zambia’s most contentious corruption cases to return to the spotlight, carrying significant implications for accountability and the rule of law.

BREAKING: Italy refuses to let U.S. military planes land, citing Trump’s chaos
Italy has turned away American military aircraft attempting to land at one of its airbases, with Italian officials citing a lack of proper authorization and the non-routine nature of the mission as grounds for the refusal.
The incident marks a significant and embarrassing moment for the Trump administration, which has spent months alienating European allies through threats, tariffs, and erratic foreign policy decisions.
Italian officials made clear the denial was not a technical oversight but a deliberate response to a mission that fell outside established protocols between the two NATO allies.
The refusal is the latest sign that America’s relationships with its closest partners are fraying in real time. Countries that have stood shoulder to shoulder with the United States for decades are now drawing lines that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago.
BREAKING: France refuses to allow U.S. military flights over its territory in Trump’s Iran war
France has taken a bold stand against President Trump’s military campaign in Iran, refusing to allow U.S. aircraft carrying military supplies to cross French airspace over the weekend.
It was the first time France had blocked American access since the operation began, and it sent an unmistakable message to Washington.
France did not make this decision in a vacuum. Across Europe, a clear consensus has been forming that Trump’s Iran war is not a conflict the continent is willing to enable. Italy had already refused to allow U.S. warplanes to land at a base in Sicily.
Spain closed its airspace to American military aircraft entirely, with Defense Minister Margarita Robles confirming the decision had been communicated to U.S. military leadership from the very beginning.
These are not rogue nations. These are some of America’s closest and most reliable partners, and they are collectively drawing a line.
Europe’s message is coming through loud and clear: this is Trump’s war, not theirs. And they are not going to make it easier.
Florida Moves to Rename Palm Beach Airport as “Trump International Airport”
Florida is preparing to rename Palm Beach International Airport after Donald Trump, following the signing of a state-approved bill by Ron DeSantis.
The change still requires approval from the Federal Aviation Administration before becoming official, including updates to aviation maps and navigation systems.
The move is part of a broader push within Florida to incorporate Trump’s name into public infrastructure fueling both political support and growing controversy nationwide.
Japan Deploys Long-Range Strike Missiles on Ground Units for First Time
Japan has begun deploying domestically produced long-range missiles to ground units, marking its first operational step toward “counterstrike capability” beyond pure self-defense.
The upgraded Type 12 missile capable of reaching around 1,000 km will be stationed in Kyushu and Honshu, with future upgrades targeting up to 2,000 km, potentially covering parts of China and nearby waters.
The move signals a major shift in Japan’s security doctrine, though concerns remain over escalation risks, legal limits, and growing public unease in deployment areas.
Iran Pressures Houthis to Prepare Red Sea Blockade
Iran is reportedly urging Yemen’s Houthi rebels to prepare attacks on vessels in the Red Sea, raising fears of a potential maritime blockade as the war escalates.
European officials warn that if strikes intensify especially around key oil routes like Bab el-Mandeb global energy markets could face severe disruption on top of the Hormuz crisis.
However, sources say the Houthis remain cautious, weighing escalation risks while using the threat of attacks as strategic leverage against the U.S. and its allies.
BREAKING: Iran eyes $100 billion jackpot by turning Strait of Hormuz into a toll road.
Iran’s parliament security committee has approved a bill to impose transit tolls on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, the critical chokepoint carrying about 20 percent of global oil supply.
The plan requires ships to pay fees in Iranian rials, bans passage for US and Israeli-linked vessels, and asserts full Iranian sovereignty over the waterway. Lawmakers describe it as a move covering security, safe navigation, environmental protection, and revenue generation amid the ongoing conflict.
Iranian state media touted potential annual revenue exceeding $100 billion, based on pre-war traffic of around 140 ships daily and fees that could reach roughly $2 million per tanker. In reality, current volumes have plunged sharply due to the fighting, with only a handful of tankers transiting each day, making that headline figure highly optimistic.
The bill still requires full parliamentary approval, review by the Guardian Council, and the president’s signature before it becomes law. Even so, the signal is unmistakable: Iran is formalizing a “toll booth” on one of the world’s most vital energy arteries while oil prices sit above $100 a barrel and shipping risks have soared.
This escalates tensions and turns a strategic chokepoint into a direct cash grab in hybrid warfare. Global energy markets are paying close attention.
Patrice Motsepe Said He Was Shocked To See Tunisia FA President As Part of Appeal Committee That Award The Title To Morocco
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Patrice Motsepe, has admitted that he was shocked to learn that the Tunisian Football Federation President, Moez Ben Tahir Nasri, was part of the CAF Appeals Board that took the decision to strip Senegal of its Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title and award it to Morocco.
“When I was informed that one of the people (appeal judges) was the president of one of our football associations, I responded: ‘But come on, what is this?
How did he end up there?… Of course, we must draw lessons from this kind of thing, you know… He [Moez Nasri from Tunisia] shouldn’t have been there! We need more rigour “
BREAKING: Kristi Noem’s Husband Caught Living Secret “Crossdressing Fetish” Double Life Online
Kristi Noem’s already turbulent time in the spotlight has taken another deeply personal hit after a bombshell report revealed that her husband Bryon has been leading a secret online life as a crossdressing fetish participant, allegedly spending tens of thousands of dollars on adult performers.
The Daily Mail obtained hundreds of messages tied to Bryon Noem, 56, who reportedly operated under the fake name “Jason Jackson” while engaging in a fetish community centered around what participants call “bimbofication,” which involves roleplaying as a hypersexualized, Barbie-like figure complete with exaggerated curves and skintight clothing.
Photos published by the outlet showed Bryon stuffing balloons into a tight shirt to simulate a large chest while posing with a pouty expression. Messages reviewed by reporters showed him complimenting women on their bodies and asking whether they’d consider augmenting their appearance further.
A PayPal account connected to “Jason Jackson” showed repeated payments between $500 and $1,000, with the total allegedly reaching around $25,000 across PayPal and Cash App combined.
One model told the Mail she accidentally pocket-dialed “Jason” and heard a voicemail greeting for “Noem Insurance,” Bryon’s South Dakota-based business. When she searched the name, she immediately recognized Kristi Noem.
Bryon reportedly acknowledged having a wife and family during these exchanges. “He’d say, ‘I love my wife, I want to get better.’ Then he’d disappear, come back, and start again,” one woman recalled.
A spokesperson for Kristi Noem said she was “devastated” and “blindsided” by the report, asking for privacy and prayers. The revelations arrive at a particularly painful moment for the recently ousted Homeland Security secretary, whose public image has long been anchored in Christian faith and traditional family values. In a 2022 interview, Kristi described the Noems as a “transparent family” and an “open book.”
BREAKING: “HE’S NOT THE OWNER OF THE WHITE HOUSE!” Bush-appointed judge SHUTS DOWN construction on Trump’s $400 million ballroom until it gets approved by Congress, ruling that he overstepped his authority!
In a fairly scathing ruling, Judge Richard J. Leon declared that “The President of the United States is the steward of the White House for future generations of First Families. He is not, however, the owner…no statute comes close to giving the President the authority he claims to have.”
“Unless and until Congress blesses this project through statutory authorization, construction has to stop!”
That last sentence succinctly sums up Donald Trump’s entire presidency. He has been willfully and flagrantly violating the law left and right, plowing forward into wildly illegal ventures and trying to tear everything down around him faster than the courts can stop him, like a hangry toddler in a room full of traffic cones.
Luckily for us, this creates an all-new set of headaches for Mike Johnson and the Republicans.
Passing the approval for this grotesque show of opulence / apparent post-election loss holdout bunker is going to cost political capital that Johnson does not have to spend, and it’s going to send Trump into a conniption the second he hears about it at a time when he’s already losing his mind over his disastrous Iran war, dumpster approval ratings, and the fact that everybody hates him.
We need to oppose this ballroom at every turn. It’s the People’s House, not Demented Old Pedophile’s House, and he should not get to determine what is built on it.
BREAKING: Poland HUMILIATES Trump by bluntly rejecting his desperate plea for them to send their Patriot air defense system to the Middle East to help with his disastrous Iran War.
The White House is begging for someone, anyone to bail them out…
“Our Patriot batteries and their armaments are used to protect Polish airspace and NATO’s eastern flank. Nothing is changing in this regard, and we have no plans to move them anywhere!” Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X. “Our allies are well aware of and understand the importance of our tasks here. Poland’s security is an absolute priority.”
The Trump administration had requested the transfer of a Patriot system because Iranian drones, missiles, and rockets have repeatedly overwhelmed the defenses of Israel and the Gulf countries, decimating the expensive interceptor systems used to block such attacks. The U.S. and Gulf countries burned through 1,285 Patriot missiles in just the first 16 days of Trump’s illegal war.
“Poland should not grant approval for such matters,” said former Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak.
According to “a senior defense official from a NATO country” who spoke to Politico, Poland wasn’t the only country to which Trump came begging. The U.S. has asked all of its NATO allies to surrender Patriot batteries for redeployment in the Middle East as well as, supposedly, to Ukraine. That official claimed that the batteries were not intended for the Gulf, a minor point of distinction.
It’s of course unsurprising that Poland has no desire to risk its military equipment in the service of a pointless, bloody war of aggression being waged by the United States on behalf of Israel. The entire world now sees America as a deeply unstable, violent country that cannot be relied upon in any meaningful sense. European nations are now looking to bolster their military defenses, confident in the new reality: they can no longer trust the United States to protect them.
BREAKING: Trump begs Europe to fix his Hormuz problem for him in desperate, frantic Truth Social outburst!
Donald Trump just lashed out at European countries struggling with jet fuel shortages caused by his illegal Iran war, specifically calling out the UK for refusing to join his supposed “decapitation” of Iran.
Trump wrote: “All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom … I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT.
“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us.”
He then lied that Iran has been “essentially decimated” and “the hard part is done,” telling allies therefore to “go get your own oil!”
This is Trump at his most pusillanimous: starting an illegal war that de didn’t believe would shut the Strait of Hormuz and set of a global energy crisis, then turning around and scolding allies for not cleaning up his mess while trying to profiteer off their desperation by selling them American jet fuel.
If you have had enough of Trump’s delusional recklessness and bullying approach to diplomacy, please like and share.
UNZA RIOTS SPARK PRESIDENTIAL ACTION ON SANITATION CRISIS
March 31, 2026 — Violent protests erupted at the University of Zambia (UNZA) as students demonstrated over a severe water shortage and deteriorating sanitation conditions on campus.
The unrest saw students blocking roads, disrupting traffic, and clashing with authorities, with frustrations largely centred on the lack of running water and growing fears of a possible disease outbreak.
As tensions escalated, President Hakainde Hichilema moved swiftly, delivering an emergency address calling for calm and urging peaceful engagement. He acknowledged the challenges facing students and assured the nation that urgent steps were being taken to restore normalcy.
Following the address, the Head of State convened an emergency meeting with key ministries and UNZA management. He has since directed the Ministries of Education, Health, Infrastructure, and Water Development and Sanitation to immediately conduct a comprehensive sanitation audit at UNZA and across all public universities and colleges.
The President has further instructed authorities to present practical, time-bound solutions and work with the Zambia National Service (ZNS) to fast-track sanitation improvements.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and UNZA management have been tasked with resolving long-standing concerns affecting lecturers and academic staff, as part of broader efforts to stabilise the learning environment.
According to a statement issued by State House, the measures are aimed at safeguarding student welfare and ensuring institutions remain safe and functional. President Hichilema emphasized that education is a critical national investment, adding that proper sanitation is essential to health, dignity, and effective learning.
Meanwhile, investigations into the riots are ongoing, with university authorities suggesting possible external influence in the escalation of violence. Security has since been heightened on and around campus as the situation remains tense.
The Green Party Zambia has officially rejoined the Tonse Alliance, now under the leadership of Brian Mundubile.
Party president Peter Sinkamba says the decision to return follows the resolution of earlier internal disputes, noting that the noise and quarrels that once characterized the alliance have since subsided.
He expressed confidence that Mr. Mundubile is currently the strongest opposition figure capable of unseating the UPND government.
Meanwhile, several other groups have also aligned themselves with the alliance, including the Movement for Patriots, Hope for Human Rights Association, Upnd 2021 Parliamentary losing candidates and the Make Zambia Great Movement.
⚖️ Patrick Tenbo Banda Starts Hallucinations After Smoking A Real Bad Herb 👉🏽👉🏽 LEADERSHIP SHAKE-UP CLAIM AS TEMBO BANDA DECLARES CONTROL OF UPND STRUCTURES
Patrick Tembo Banda has announced that he has assumed administrative control of the United Party for National Development (UPND), following what he describes as the expiration of the current leadership’s mandate.
Tembo Banda stated that he will soon convene a party convention, where a new General Assembly is expected to be constituted. The Assembly will, in turn, elect members to the National Management Committee—signaling a potential restructuring of the party’s top leadership organs.
The declaration sets the stage for what could become a significant internal contest over authority and direction within the ruling party.
WHEN DOCUMENTS SPEAK LOUDER THAN DEFENCES: THE MUNDUBILE DILEMMA
Recent documents circulating in the public domain, reportedly released by Brian Mundubile himself, raise more questions than they answer. Instead of clearing his name, they seem to confirm key concerns that have been quietly building.
At the centre of the matter are two issues: conflict of interest and delivery on public contracts.
1. A Paper Trail That Confirms Payment
One of the documents, issued by Kasama Municipal Council, clearly states that there was no objection to the contractor’s claim for payment of ZMW 9.59 million for road works in Northern Province. The language is formal, but the meaning is simple: the contractor was paid.
Another document from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development supports a similar pattern. It confirms the submission of a final payment certificate worth over ZMW 4.87 million for feeder road maintenance in Eastern Province.
Taken together, these are not minor figures. They point to millions of kwacha paid out under government contracts.
And this is where the contradiction begins.
2. The Conflict at the Heart of It
The central allegation has never been complicated. It is that Brian Mundubile, while serving as a government minister, was still linked to companies that were awarded public contracts.
In most governance systems, including Zambia’s, this is not a grey area. It is a clear breach.
A sitting minister is expected to separate public duty from private gain. When those lines blur, it raises the risk of influence, unfair advantage, and abuse of office. In legal terms, it falls under conflict of interest, which is not just unethical but can amount to a criminal offence.
By releasing documents that confirm payments under these contracts, the defence shifts from denial to acknowledgment. The question is no longer whether money was paid. It is now under what circumstances those contracts were awarded and executed.
3. The Bigger Question: Were the Roads Done?
Payment alone is not the full story.
There are growing claims that, despite these large sums being disbursed, the roads in question were not rehabilitated to expected standards, or in some cases, not done at all.
If true, this introduces a second and more serious dimension. It is not only about who got the contracts. It becomes a matter of value for money and possible misapplication of public funds.
Zambians understand this issue better than any report can explain. A road is visible. It is driven on. It either exists in good condition or it does not.
No document can substitute that reality.
4. A Defence That Raises More Than It Settles
What makes this situation unusual is that the documents now circulating do not dispute the core concerns. Instead, they appear to reinforce them.
They show:
i. Contracts existed
ii. Payments were made
iii. Government institutions processed and certified those payments
What remains unclear is whether:
a. Proper procurement procedures were followed
b. There was full disclosure of interests
c. The works matched the payments ______ Zambian Angle
Garry Nkombo has been seen as HH’s successor in the eyes of many from within and outside UPND circles. Typically of African politics, he has been seen as a threat to president HH and his stay in UPND has been on big brother watch.
The nation does not know what Garry did to be dropped as Minister of Local government, to us who have been UPND before and knows president HH, knew he wasn’t going to last long.
Remember Garry was the last person to be appointed Minister by HH, it came as a shock to many for we all expected him to be among first ministers to be appointed and given a bigger ministry like Defense, Home Affairs or indeed Foreign Affairs.
The last nail on the coffin is his removal from the position of UPND National Chairman for campaign and elections.
Garry Nkombo is loved by people naturally, he’s an outgoing, down to earth individual, he has his own weaknesses and flaws but a very good politician worth learning from.
He can pretend the way he wants but his stay in UPND is done and dusted. Firstly, he won’t be adopted for the Mazabuka seat under UPND, secondly, he won’t have any huge responsibility in the party if not adopted since he was unceremoniously removed.
Way foward for Garry Nkombo is to man up and leave UPND and join his brother Brian Mundubile. Let him consider standing on Tonse Alliance as an MP in either Chilanga constituency (where his home is) or Kanyama/Makeni constituency.
Garry still has a lot to offer to this nation and we should not allow UPND to bury a vibrant political heavyweight like GN. His contributions in parliament when in opposition were enormous to be ignored.
One Love Big Brother Garry, come to FDD Tonse Alliance where you will be valued and cherished.
In Garry’s own words’ ‘NOTHING EXISTS IN PERPETUITY’ time to move.
ECONOMIC Front leader Wynter Kabimba says Zambia is in a civil environment now more than the criminality and disorder that characterised the Patriotic Front rule.
Mr Kabimba said the country is better in almost all spheres than it was in 2021, and that citizens must accept that fact.
Speaking when he featured on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation TV1 Sunday Interview programme, Mr Kabimba said it will be unfair to the country for anyone to assume that PF, if brought back, will do better than what the New Dawn administration has done so far.
“Certainly, we have moved away; we are in more of a civil environment now than the criminality and disorder that we saw under PF,” Mr Kabimba said.
“And to start running around today that our colleagues who were there would come and do a better job than this…. No! I don’t believe that. Let’s be fair to the country, we are definitely better than we were in 2021 in almost everything.”
Mr Kabimba further said it is not right to drag the President’s name into matters whenever a prominent figure, especially a political player, is summoned for questioning by investigative agencies.
Brian Mundubile Weeps Over Lungu’s Frozen Fate …ten months tick on 5 April
“La muerte no espera, y el respeto al muerto es sagrado”—death does not wait, and respect for the dead is sacred. But in Zambia, respect for the dead has been replaced by fear and silence.” Amb. Anthony Mukwita
Mar 31, 2026
Ten months will pass on 5 April since Zambia’s sixth President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, was laid low by death, yet his body remains frozen, unburied, and trapped in a legal limbo.
Today, leading presidential candidate Hon. Brian Mundubile broke down in tears, pleading with the government of President Hakainde Hichilema to allow Lungu’s family to bury him with dignity. Daily Nation Zambia
“Our sixth president remains unburied—tragic for the family. We pray for them; we implore the government to allow a decent burial as per wish of the family. We cannot continue punishing this family,” Mundubile said, his voice cracking with sorrow.
The Attorney General’s court action has halted the burial, leaving Zambia and the world gobsmacked, the cost on taxpayers, astronomical and spikes every day.
No one is allowed to discuss how much Zambia is paying South African lawyers to keep ECL frozen on ordinary Zambia taxpayers’ money amid poverty.
Mundubile says his team is crunching the numbers to find out how much Joe the plumber in Kalingalinga pays for the court action in Pretoria.
The presidential aspirant says, “How can a nation deny rest to a man whose presidential titles and benefits were stripped while he was alive? It boggles the mind.”
Mundubile adds that, “Lungu was no ordinary leader—his footsteps are etched across Chilubi, Bweengwa, Dundumwezi, Mutanda, and Kasempa, where hospitals, schools, power lines, and roads stand as monuments to his vision.
“He used to say, ‘I am the President of Zambia, I will take development to places where I was not voted.’ That was President Edgar Lungu. He wanted to be a president for all Zambia, not one region,” Mundubile recalled.
Yet today, even speaking of Lungu’s death has become dangerous. Prominent politician and presidential aspirant Fred M’membe was recently locked up simply for demanding his burial according to family wishes.
His arrest sent shockwaves across Zambia, a chilling reminder that mourning itself has become a crime.
“La muerte no espera, y el respeto al muerto es sagrado”—death does not wait, and respect for the dead is sacred. But in Zambia, respect for the dead has been replaced by fear and silence.
Mundubile’s plea was not just political; it was human. “Lungu saved this family this nation with diligence, he was a great president,” he said. “If we cannot bury him under President HH, we must bury him under God.”
Mundubile’s words echoed across a nation bewildered by the cruelty of denying a family closure because of a court action by the office of the attorney general of Zambia.
Dr. Fred M’membe, too, spoke with anguish before his arrest: “It is dangerous now to even ask for Edgar Lungu’s burial. But we must not fear—we must demand dignity for our leaders, even in death.” Ten months frozen. Ten months of sorrow.
Ten months of unanswered prayers. Why does Zambia want to bury a president they dethroned while alive—why? Asks Mundubile.
Brian Mundubile: “We cannot continue punishing this family. Edgar Lungu was the president of all of Zambia.”
Fred M’membe: “It has become dangerous to even speak of his burial, but dignity must be demanded.” Zambia goes to the polls on 13 August, possibly with an unburied President frozen in SA. Mrs. Esther Lungu weeps.
SOUND THE ALARM: THE 2026 ELECTORAL CALENDAR IS A TIGHTROPE FOR THE OPPOSITION
By Michael Zephaniah Phiri, Political Activist
The roadmap released by the Electoral Commission of Zambia for the 2026 general elections may appear orderly and well-structured on the surface, but beneath that neat presentation lies a dangerously tight, and potentially exclusionary, framework that should concern every serious political player in the country. This is not merely a timetable; it is a pressure mechanism. If not rigorously interrogated, it risks becoming a silent tool for disqualifying opposition candidates on technical grounds rather than through the will of the people.
The most glaring red flag lies in the nomination timelines, particularly for presidential candidates. The calendar compresses critical processes into a narrow window at a time when many political parties are still struggling to organize internal structures, hold conventions, and finalize their candidates.
These are not minor administrative exercises, they are foundational democratic processes that demand time, consensus, and strict legal compliance. By forcing them into such a limited timeframe, the calendar effectively sets a trap: only those already fully organized, resourced, and aligned can meet the threshold, leaving others vulnerable to elimination before the race even begins.
It must be clearly understood that while many steps in the roadmap are framed as administrative, the consequences of failing to meet them are strictly legal. By the time nominations are filed, there is no margin for error, no grace period, and no second chances. Every requirement must be met in full, and any shortfall—no matter how minor, can result in outright disqualification.
This creates a dangerous environment where technicalities override democratic choice, and where paperwork, timelines, and procedural hurdles become more decisive than public support or political credibility
Political parties must wake up to the reality that they are not merely competing against each other, they are racing against time and against a system that may not forgive even the smallest misstep. Failure to properly file nomination papers, delays in verifying supporters, confusion over evolving guidelines, or incomplete compliance with legal requirements could all be used to knock candidates off the ballot. In such a scenario, elections risk being decided long before voters ever step into a polling booth.
Equally troubling is the broader context in which this calendar has been introduced. There are ongoing discussions and allegations about changes to the electoral process that could potentially restrict independent presidential candidates from appearing on the ballot, effectively limiting participation to those backed by political parties. If such measures are indeed being pursued, then this roadmap begins to resemble less a neutral administrative guide and more a coordinated framework designed to narrow the democratic space under the guise of reform. That would set a dangerous precedent for any democracy.
The silence or passivity of stakeholders in the face of this document would be a grave mistake. This calendar is a public instrument and must be subjected to constant scrutiny, rigorous questioning, and, where necessary, legal challenge. The Electoral Commission must be compelled to provide clarity where ambiguity exists, to justify timelines that appear unrealistic, and to guarantee that administrative procedures will not be weaponized to unfairly exclude candidates Without sustained pressure, there is a real risk that these processes will proceed unchecked, with far-reaching consequences for political diversity and electoral fairness.
What is most alarming is that many opposition parties appear to be moving at a routine pace, as though time is abundant, when in reality the window is rapidly closing. The truth is harsh but unavoidable: those who are not fully compliant by the time nominations open will simply not be allowed to participate. It will not matter how popular they are, how compelling their message is, or how much support they command. They will be disqualified, not by the people, but by procedure.
This moment demands urgency, discipline, and above all, unity among opposition political parties. Fragmentation and internal battles will only make it easier for these administrative traps to take effect. There must be coordination, sharing of legal expertise, and a collective approach to monitoring and challenging every aspect of this process. Standing alone, parties risk being picked off one by one through technical disqualifications. Standing together, they stand a far better chance of safeguarding transparency and fairness.
Time is not on anyone’s side. The clock is ticking relentlessly toward the nomination deadlines, and every day lost to complacency or internal wrangling is a step closer to potential exclusion. This is not a theoretical concern, it is a real and immediate threat that demands action now. If political parties fail to prepare, fail to question, and fail to act with precision, they may find themselves watching the election from the sidelines, not because they were rejected by voters, but because they were eliminated by a system they did not challenge in time.
