But you don’t expect me to hide myself away forever, That’s the only reason I’m not going to get into an argument with any keg-legged, long chin, frog eyes troll right now.”

UPND Government’s Response to Allegations of Harassment Against Former President Edgar Lungu

0

In recent times, allegations of government harassment against former Zambian President Edgar Chagwa Lungu have stirred public debate and concern. These claims, coupled with warnings of potential turmoil in the country, have prompted Acting Minister of Information and Media and Chief Government Spokesperson,Hon Makozo Chikote to issue a statement denying any such harassment and setting the record straight on the treatment of the former President and his family.

Respect for the Former President:

The UPND government maintains that it has consistently respected and upheld the institution of the former President, as mandated by the country’s laws. This respect extends to various aspects of the former President’s status, including privileges and entitlements. The government’s stance aligns with established legal norms.

Immunity Privilege:

One of the key points the government emphasizes is that the immunity granted to former President Lungu is a privilege extended exclusively to him. This privilege does not apply to any of his family members. It is imperative to distinguish between the legal status of the former President and that of his relatives.

Due Process for All:

The statement emphasized the principle of equality before the law, stating that if any family member of the former President is suspected of wrongdoing, they, like any other citizen, are subject to investigation and other due legal processes. In this context, the rule of law prevails.

Commitment to Upholding the Rule of Law:

Furthermore, the government reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law for the benefit of all Zambian citizens, including the former President. The government considers itself bound to ensure that legal standards and principles are upheld, irrespective of one’s status, in the interests of justice and fairness.

GOVT HAS NOT HARASSED FORMER PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU IN ANY WAY-CHIKOTE

In the recent past, some sections of society have continued to peddle allegations against Government that it is harassing former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu. They have gone further to allege that this would plunge the country into turmoil.

Government dismisses these allegations as unfortunate and unfounded.

As stated on several occasions before, Government has not harassed the former President in any way since he left office.

Contrary to the allegations, the institution of the former President has been respected and upheld by this Government, as per law established.

The record is clear that the former President is fully enjoying his liberties and entitlements in accordance with his status, and as enshrined in the law.

I ought to stress, however, that former President Lungu’s immunity, is a privilege extended to him only and not any of his family members. This seems to be the confusion that some people are making.

Any family member of the former President who is suspected of wrongdoing, like all other citizens, is subject to investigation and other due processes of the law.

Government reaffirms its commitment to upholding the rule of law for the benefit of all citizens of which the former President is part.

DR Congo December polls attract 22 opponents for Tshisekedi

0

On December 20, the Democratic Republic of Congo will be heading to the polls to elect the next president. Twenty-three candidates, among them several youths, two pastors, and one woman, will face off with President Félix Tshisekedi.

Observers broadly classify the candidates into two groups: The serious and those whose chances are next to nil. Even then, the candidates agree on a need to transform DRC and put its resources to better use. What is more, they all accused Rwanda of fomenting rebellions in the DRC.

First off the ramp of the heavyweights — and not necessarily the most likely to win — is ex-minister Delly Sessanga, 53, and member of parliament since 2006, who is presenting himself as one of the most competent candidates.

Hardliners versus doves:

“I have presented a candidacy based on a project that will not only unite the Congolese people, bringing them together to give meaning to and ensure that progress is shared among us. But also, a project that will restore to our nation the foundations of its stability, security, and independence”, declared Sessanga.

Then there is Moïse Katumbi, owner of the football team Tout Puissant Mazembe, who is reputed to be a good manager. He is regarded as one of the most feared challengers in the Tshisekedi camp.

Like Katumbi, Martin Fayulu is also popular, particularly in Kinshasa and several provinces in the west of the country. He has a hard position on the war in North Kivu and Ituri. He lays claim to the political heritage of Étienne Tshisekedi wa Mulumba, the father of the current head of state.

Franck Diongo also claims to be a descendant of Étienne Tshisekedi wa Mulumba, accusing the current president of having strayed from his father’s fight to establish the rule of law.

The candidates must now also reckon with Denis Mukwege, the Nobel Peace laureate, who is engaged in virulent verbal exchanges with Félix Tshisekedi.

“Be vigilant, watch out for foreign candidates”, declared Félix Tshisekedi, insinuating that certain candidates were “puppets”, placed in Congo to serve the interests of other nations.

Mukwege replied that he was “the most Congolese of all the candidates”. “I have always worked in DR Congo. It’s unfortunate that these people who live in Europe, who live on welfare subsidies from Europe, have their father’s address in the Congo, but we don’t know their address in the Congo, can say that I’m a white man’s candidate”.

There is also former prime minister Matata Ponyo. He is optimistic despite his legal troubles. He is accused of misappropriating public funds allocated to a major agricultural project during his time as prime minister (2012-2016). His trial is underway.

The only woman:

On to the lightweights but no less important candidates.

Marie-José Ifoku, 58, and the only woman in the race will be hoping her message of ending the exploitation of the country will endear her to the electorate.

Into the cauldron are pastors Théodore Ngoy, 65, and Aggrey Ngalasi, 69. The latter claims to have received a mission from God for the DRC. “We obeyed the voice of God who wants to bless this nation because God loves the DRC.”

Mr. Ngoy, who is also a lawyer and was on the ballot in 2018, is presenting himself as the ideal candidate to save the country.

“To halt the destruction of the country, we need a just man, a good man, capable. I am that man”, he said.

From the youth, comes Constant Mutamba, 35, a lawyer who likes to compare his commitment to that of Patrice Lumumba, Che Guevara, and Mahatma Gandhi. He presents himself as the candidate of the “rupture” and holds very strong anti-Rwanda sentiments.

Mutamba’s position is similar to that of former prime minister Adolphe Muzito, 66. His political offer is based on four priorities: military and security sovereignty; monetary sovereignty; the fight against poverty and the fight to reduce unemployment.

There is also Seth Kikuni, 42, an entrepreneur who’s offering his candidature for the second time.

Jada Pinkett Smith reveals she and Will Smith never signed a prenup

0

Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed why she and her husband Will Smith never signed a prenuptial agreement before getting married.

The former talk show host, 52, spoke candidly about her husband during a recent interview with Parade. While discussing her new memoir, Worthy, Jada revealed that she and Will didn’t sign a prenup when they were married in 1997 because they knew divorce wasn’t in the cards for them.

“Listen, weddings are beautiful, but they can be very romanticised,” Jada said. “I feel that was a very real moment for the two of us to look each other in the eyes, recognise that there would be tough times in this journey and to say to each other: ‘No matter what, we’re going to figure it out and that’s why we don’t need a prenup, because I’m making a promise that divorce won’t be necessary, that we will figure this out.’”

The Girls Trip star explained how she and Will casually promised not to get a divorce, and how that decision impacted their perspective on on marriage.

“And we made that promise to each other without all of the bridal wedding beauty; it was just sitting on a log in his mother’s backyard, and going: ‘Hey’ – having to really look at the possibility of us not being together,” she said.

This isn’t the first time that Jada has opened up about her long-term commitment to her husband. During an interview with Hoda Kotb for Today, which aired on 13 October, the actor confirmed that she and her partner have been living “completely separate lives” for the past seven years. However, according to Jada, their choice to live in separate homes doesn’t mean that they’ll be getting divorced anytime soon.

“I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce,” she said. “We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”

When asked why she and Will didn’t “just amicably divorce,” Jada simply replied: “We don’t want to.”

She then explained how her family shaped that decision, as she and the King Richard star share two children – Jaden, 25, and Willow, 22. Will also has a 30-year-old son, Trey, who he shares with ex-wife Sheree Zampino. “We love our family and we love each other. It’s more of a life partnership,” Jada explained. “Now, 10 years from now, Hoda, who knows?”

During a 2018 episode of her Facebook Watch series, Red Table Talk, Jada doubled down on her stance about divorce, as she recalled the the hard conversation she had with Will about the topic before they got married.

“I told Will from the gate, I said let me tell you something: ‘If you marry me, know this: we’re gonna be together. We’re going to be under the same roof,’” she said. “For me personally, I’m not mature enough to have a divorce, I’m just not. I don’t think I would ever be mature enough, I don’t.”

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star has also shared similar sentiments, as he said during an appearance on the Ellen Degeneres Show that “divorce just can’t be an option” for him and Jada. “It’s really that simple. And I think that’s the problem with LA – there are so many options. So a huge part of the success for [Jada] and I is that we just removed the other options.”

Last week, Jada made headlines when she revealed that at the time of the 2022 Academy Awards, when Will slapped Chris Rock, she and her husband had been separated for six years. “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together,” she said during an interview with People. “We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.”

Jada then praised her children for how they’ve helped her grow, adding: “My children, they’re little gurus. They’ve taught me a deep sense of self-acceptance.”

On 16 October, Will broke his silence on his wife’s comments during an interview with the New York Times. The outlet noted that he said his partner’s memoir “kind of woke him up” and that he has now realised she is more “resilient, clever and compassionate than he’d understood”.

“When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties,” Will added.

Ruto hopes he will face Kalonzo in the 2027 race

0

Kenya’s President, William Ruto is anticipating a battle with former vice-president Kalonzo Musyoka as his main rival in the 2027 election in the likely event that opposition leader Raila Odinga doesn’t vie.

Ruto, who has been accused by the opposition of engaging in early campaigns, publicly mentioned Musyoka’s name as a possible challenger last week while addressing a meeting in Homa Bay County.

The meeting was one of several addressed by the president during a four-day whistle-stop trip to four counties in the Nyanza region, officially dubbed a development tour but dominated by political rhetoric regarding the next elections.

His early campaign pitch is seen as part of a strategy to widen his support base and exorcise the ghosts of legitimacy that have continued to haunt his presidency.

Homa Bay, Kisumu, Siaya, and Migori counties are considered the bedrock of opposition politics and have largely voted for Odinga in each of his past five unsuccessful presidential bids.

The veteran opposition leader has yet to publicly rule out a sixth stab at the presidency. But with his age advancing — he will be 82 in 2027 — there has been mounting speculation about his participation in the next elections.

Some close allies of the president, miffed by Odinga’s following and ability to mobilise the recent anti-government protests, have not concealed their wish to see the back of him.

In March, six MPs threatened to petition the Treasury to withhold Odinga’s retirement benefits if he continued to participate in politics.

Elements within the opposition are also pushing for a succession plan in which Odinga will step aside and back someone else to face Ruto.

In July, a senator and an MP elected on Musyoka’s Wiper Party challenged Odinga to publicly endorse Musyoka’s candidature in 2027, saying it was time to return the favour. Musyoka, 69, has backed Odinga’s past three presidential election bids, two of those as running mate. The Wiper Party leader contested the presidency in 2007, coming a credible third behind then-president Mwai Kibaki and Odinga. He served as vice president in the Kibaki administration between 2008 and 2013.

If the 2027 race narrows down to Dr. Ruto and Musyoka, both will be calling on Odinga to play the kingmaker role in their favour, claiming political debt from past campaigns.

In his speeches during the Nyanza tour, the president sought to appeal to the former prime minister’s supporters in the region to consider backing his re-election bid, repeatedly touting his role in the former’s presidential campaign in 2007 and Odinga serving as prime minister.

Although Odinga lost narrowly to Kibaki, he ended in the grand coalition government as prime minister following mediation of the ensuing post-election conflict led by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Although several other leaders have been mentioned as potential successors in the opposition Azimio One Kenya Alliance, Musyoka’s allies see him as first among equals.

Will Smith’s Kids Reportedly Feel Bad For Him Amid Jada Pinkett Smith Revelations

0

The news cycle has been dominated for a full week now by Jada Pinkett Smith. In a new bombshell interview and promotion for her new memoir, she’s spilled all kinds of details on her relationships dating back decades. That included information about Tupac, like the fact that he proposed to her while in prison and she turned him down. She also describes the rapper as her soul mate, which was just one of many details that put her current partner in a strange situation.

One of the biggest details that Jada made public was that she and Will Smith had been functionally separated for somewhere around 7 years. Additionally, she described them as living “entirely separate lives.” That surprised plenty of people who remembered Smith’s notorious Oscar slap. Chris Rock, the victim of the slap was also implicated in the drama. Jada mentioned specifically that Rock had hit on her in the past. While some have contested the story she seems to stand by her words. Now Page Six is elaborating on how all of this unraveling could be impacting Will.

Will Smith’s Children Weigh In

Above everything else, Willow and Jaden Smith appear to just want privacy for their parents. Page Six reports that they “feel bad” for their dad and are just hoping that private matters could stay private. Consequently for his part, Will seems to be taking things relatively well. Insiders claim that he’s just trying to stay busy and hang out with friends and his children.

He posted a video to social media the other day right as the news was hitting its peak. In the clip, he’s sleeping on a boat and completely ignoring his phone notifications. “Notifications off :)” he captioned the clip. Subsequently, a handful of notable names even appeared in the comments to praise how he was handling the situation. What do you think of Will Smith’s children’s reported reaction to Jada’s recent revelations? Let us know in the comment section below.

Yours Faithfully

TAFADZWA MANYIKA INTERIM SECRETARY GENERAL +1 (332) 208-4115

Some Context:
The letter is addressed to Jacob Mudenda, a high-ranking member of the ruling party in Zimbabwe, who holds important positions within the party. He knows the party’s secretary, Obert Mpofu.

This comes when the nation is still grappling with the recalling of 15 MPs from CCC by Sengezo Tshabangu who claims to be the interim Secretary-General of CCC. Tshabangu alleges that the recalled individuals had ceased to be CCC members. However, the CCC argues that Tshabangu is not a genuine member of the party and that they do not have an interim or official Secretary-General. Despite receiving a letter from CCC leader Nelson Chamisa advising the Speaker not to accept such communication from anyone except his office, the Speaker of Parliament expelled the MPs based on Tshabangu’s recall.

The recalling of CCC MPs further worsened the political crisis which emanated from the disputed 23 August 2023 harmonised elections which the CCC says were rigged by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) in connivance with ZANU PF and its surrogates.

Putin visits ‘close friend’ Xi Jinping in China

0

Vladimir Putin has come to Beijing to meet with Xi Jinping, who he considers a close friend. This trip is meant to highlight the strong alliance between their countries, which they believe has no boundaries.

Putin and his group traveled to Beijing on Tuesday morning, marking only their second trip abroad since the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant for Putin’s arrest.

This year, the Russian president is also going on his first official trip outside of the old Soviet Union. He recently visited Kyrgyzstan, which used to be a part of the Soviet Union.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) accuses Putin of taking children out of Ukraine without permission. The ICC makes the 123 countries, who are members, arrest Putin and send him to The Hague for a trial if he visits their land.

Both Kyrgyzstan and China are not part of the ICC, which was created to handle cases of war crimes.

Xi recently saw the person he is often compared to in Moscow a few days after the legal document was given.

He asked Putin to come to a conference in Beijing called the Belt and Road forum, which is organized by the Chinese leader to promote international cooperation.
Russian media reported that Putin will go to the forum’s reception and have discussions with the leaders of Vietnam, Thailand, Mongolia, and Laos on Tuesday.

Putin is an important guest at the forum. He will speak after Xi on Wednesday and then have a one-on-one meeting with the Chinese president.

Beijing said no to criticism from the West about its partnership with Moscow, even though the war in Ukraine is still going on. They said their partnership is not breaking any international rules and China can work with any country it wants.

Putin went to China for the Winter Olympics in February 2022. At that time, Russia and China said they would work closely together. But a few days later, Putin sent many soldiers to Ukraine.

Putin will be going to the Belt and Road Forum for the third time, and it will last until Wednesday. He went to the last two meetings in 2017 and 2019.

The forum focuses on the Belt and Road initiative, a big plan started by Xi ten years ago. His goal is to create worldwide infrastructure and energy networks that will connect Asia with Africa and Europe, using both land and sea routes.
Putin has said that he likes the idea and thinks it is a good way for countries to work together without forcing anything onto each other.

Since the Ukrainian conflict began, Russia and China have strengthened their energy connections as a sign of their economic collaboration.

Russia sends about two million barrels of oil to China every day, which is more than a third of all the crude oil it exports. Moscow also wants to construct another pipeline that will transport natural gas to China.

The leaders of Russia’s biggest oil and gas companies, Rosneft and Gazprom, will be with Putin when he travels, but we shouldn’t anticipate any new energy deals.

The Kremlin said the trip is not a complete bilateral visit, but rather one that is happening alongside an international conference.

Israel denies it was responsible for blast at Gaza hospital that ‘killed 500’

0

Israel has denied it was responsible for the blast at a hospital in Gaza that Hamas claims killed at least 500 people and has more trapped under rubble.

Intelligence information revealed that the strike that hit al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City was a rocket misfired by Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists, the Israeli army has claimed.

But a spokesman for Islamic Jihad has said this is ‘completely incorrect’ and accused the IDF of ‘trying to cover for the horrifying crime and massacre they committed against civilians’..

Hundreds of people were reportedly seeking shelter at the hospital at the time of the blast, which Hamas has called a ‘horrific massacre’ and a ‘crime of genocide’.

The carnage came as the US tried to convince Israel to allow the delivery of supplies to desperate civilians, aid groups, and hospitals in the tiny Gaza Strip, which has been under a complete siege since the deadly rampage by Hamas in southern Israel.

It also came a day before US President Joe Biden was due to visit the region to show support for Israel and try to prevent the war from spreading.

Palestine’s president Mahmoud Abbas is understood to have cancelled the meeting with Biden in protest over the airstrike.

An analysis of IDF operational systems has indicated that the Islamic Jihad terrorist organisation is ‘responsible for the failed shooting that hit the hospital’.

The military, in a statement, said that a ‘barrage of rockets was fired by terrorists in Gaza, passing in close proximity to Ahli hospital in Gaza at the time it was hit’.

An IDF spokesperson added: ‘Intelligence from multiple sources we have in our hands indicates that Islamic Jihad is responsible for the failed rocket launch which hit the hospital in Gaza.’

The Islamic Jihad is another Gaza-based terrorist group which has claimed to be fighting Israel alongside Hamas. The group has denied responsibility for the attack.

The Israeli army earlier on Tuesday said that a hospital is a ‘highly sensitive building’ and is ‘not an IDF target’, and urged ‘everyone to proceed with caution when reporting unverified claims of a terrorist organisation’.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has also blamed the United States for the attack, saying in a televised speech late on Tuesday that Washington gave Israel ‘the cover for its aggression.’

‘The hospital massacre confirms the enemy’s brutality and the extent of his feeling of defeat,’ he said, adding that the attack will be ‘a new turning point.’

Haniyeh called on all Palestinian people ‘to get out and confront the occupation and the settlers.’ He also called on all Arabs, and Muslims to stage protests against Israel.

Former Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal also called for protests in front of Israeli embassies across the world after the hospital blast.

Russian helicopters damaged by Ukrainian airstrikes

0

Ukraine says it used an air strike to destroy nine Russian helicopters in two cities that are occupied by Russia in eastern Ukraine.

According to a special forces statement, the cities of Berdyansk and Luhansk were attacked and some important military equipment, including an air defense system and a storage place for weapons, were damaged.

Many Russian soldiers were killed or hurt in the mission, stated the report.

No one else has confirmed the attack, and the Russian military has not said anything about it.

Vladimir Rogov, who was chosen by Russia to be the governor of the captured area in Zaporizhzhia region, announced that the air defense systems were able to stop enemy rockets in Berdyansk. They are currently investigating any injuries or damage and will inform us later.

However, there is a video on a social media account that supports Russia, which has not been confirmed, that shows explosions and rockets flying in a place called Berdyansk. In the video, a voice explains that a storage area for ammunition has been bombed.

A Russian blogger recently wrote about an assault on an airfield using American-made ATACMS rockets. The attack caused significant damage and resulted in casualties of both people and technology, according to the blogger.

Berdyansk is about 85km (or 53 miles) from the closest area of conflict, while Luhansk is nearly 100km away.

Fights are still happening between Ukrainian and Russian forces in Avdiivka, Kupyansk, and Lyman. Russian forces have been attacking these towns heavily lately.

Emergency services in Ukraine have reported that a dormitory building was destroyed in an attack by Russia on the city of Slovyansk. There are currently two people who are believed to be trapped under the debris.

In Odesa, the people in charge say that parts from Russian flying machines that were destroyed have harmed a club for boats and some boats themselves, but nobody was hurt.

Ukraine is attempting to reclaim land in the eastern and southern parts of the country that Russia has taken over. They have started a large-scale attack, but their progress has been slow.

It has also frequently attacked Russia’s positions in the air in order to weaken Moscow’s war effort.

Davido bought Chioma a mansion in Atlanta worth $900000 as push gift” Kemi Olunloyo alleges, gives singer important advice

Davido bought Chioma a mansion in Atlanta worth $900000 as push gift” Kemi Olunloyo alleges, gives singer important advice
Investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo has alleged that new father, Davido has gifted his wife, Chioma a mansion worth $900000 as a push gift following the birth of their twins.

The journalist made this known on her Instagram story as she offered advice to the singer on the importance of keeping his life private.
Kemi revealed that the house is well furnished and tasteful and warned the singer against publicizing it.

She claimed that Davido had videotaped the mansion and hoped the singer wouldn’t show it online to avoid burglaries.

“This is how it starts. I like Davido’s Push gift for Chioma a mansion in Atlanta worth $900000 after my real estate search of the address. Well furnished and tasteful but videotaping the entire house over there is setting it up for burglaries and danger. Have we forgotten Popsmoke and the Air B & B location murders? David keep it private. Nooo!!! Not where you sleep at night. Nobody must know that location. Don’t do Ojuorolari”.

Recall that when the news of the birth of the twins made rounds, Kemi Olunloyo shared details about the twins’ birth.

Kemi disclosed that Chioma delivered twins – a boy and a girl on Monday, 9th October 2023 at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, US.

She claimed that Chioma, who had been on bed rest for 90 days, welcomed her twins, through cesarean operation (CS) at 38 weeks.

On Sunday, in an interview, Davido had spoken out on the birth of the twins and how he and his wife found out about it.

He disclosed that both he and Chioma were shaking when they learned of the news, as he noted how his twins were born the same month, his late son, Ifeanyi was born.

Kemi Olunloyo has nothing to fear when it comes to the singer publicizing his private life as he has been keeping the twins’ birth very private.

Davido had even blasted music producer, Samklef for allegedly leaking a video of him and Chioma with their newborn twins.

Calling him a clout chaser, he stated that the video wasn’t supposed to be released online as he urged him to delete the video.

However, Samklef stated that he clarified to the singer that he obtained the video from the public domain on Twitter.

He stated that he and Davido are cool as he has made it known that he didn’t leak the video.

TRIBALISM WILL HAUNT HICHILEMA- Nason Msoni

TRIBALISM WILL HAUNT HICHILEMA, HIS FAMILY AND HIS REGION
…as Msoni questions the silence by the Church, LAZ, Human Rights Actors among many

By Fox Reporte(The FOX Newspaper)
THE tribalism President Hakainde Hichilema is openly promoting and practicing through his appointments will forever haunt him, his family and people from his region, All Peoples Congress leader Nasson Msoni has observed.

And Msoni says Zambians are now regretting electing a tribalist as President.

In unsolicited interview, Msoni wondered why President Hichilema has disappointed the 19 million people and the 2.8 million that voted for him on the pretext that he would unite the country and do away with tribal appointments as was alleged under the PF administration.

He says it has become extremely difficult for President Hichilema to cleanse and clean himself from a tribal tag because of his appointments in major government positions.

“Mr. Hichilema cannot to cleanse himself from his tribalism by stating that he will not load his blood relatives in government. That is exactly what he has done. That is exactly what he has done and he will not wash or clean himself from tribalism by word of mouth. Let him show in deeds,” he noted.

Msoni said so, far, President Hichilema has proved to be the worst leader Zambia has ever had, stating that his action will forever haunt him, his family and the region where he comes from.

“So, far Mr. Hichilema is the worst President this country has ever had, and on account of his tribalism, tribalism will haunt him, will haunt him and a lot of innocent people will be affected by his kind of tribalism. Innocent people who probably could have done better for our country but because of Mr. Hichilema’s tribalism they will be affected. Sadly, even his own children will be caught up by his sins. He must be more focused and change now, and this tribalism that he is openly encouraging will one day haunt him, haunt his children, haunt even innocent citizens from the regions where he hails from,” Msoni warned.

He further noted that President Hichilema has missed an opportunity to put Zambia back on the right track by making appointments that were tribal in nature.

“A lot of people will be injured because of his tribalism because Zambians never thought that Mr. Hichilema would misconduct himself in the manner he has done after he assured the people that he will work at uniting the nation. He has missed an opportunity to demonstrate that what opponents were saying that he was a tribalist was not true, he has officially played in their hands, he has pried in their hands too.

Those that said Mr. Hichilema was a tribalist have been vindicated, Zambians who rejected him and never voted for him for five times all have been vindicated, so having said that, Mr. Hichilema will go into history that he is the worst tribalist to have occupied the office of the Presidency in Zambia. Even Dr. Kaunda at the time he was struggling with memory due to old age, he was able to bring it out, he brought out his fears that this man is a man whose Presidency he could not fear the prospects of him becoming President because he is a very divisive element. Dr. Kaunda even in his grave he has been vindicated. The truth is that President Hichilema has divided this country deeply than expected and he is not fit to continue to be President,” he said.

Msoni has since challenged the silence by the Church, Civil Society Organizations, faith-based organizations, the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) the International Community, traditional leaders, labor movements, student unions, Human Rights Actors and Zambians in general to self-introspect before the situation becomes uncontrollable.

Both State House Communications Expert Clayson Hamasaka and Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa are yet to comment on the matter.

Mampa counsels ‘tired’ Musenge to stop talking about HH

Mampa counsels ‘tired’ Musenge to stop talking about HH

By Oliver Chisenga

UPND member Happy Mampa says President Hakainde Hichilema is preoccupied with mopping the country that was left “soiled” by the Patriotic Front administration.

Mampa is also aspiring to be meber of parliament for Bangweulu Constituency Luapula Province’s Samfya district in the 2026 elections.

Recently, Musenge who is Advocates for People’s Prosperity leader cautioned President Hichilema against being in the comfort zone since no one knows what will happen in 2026.

Bu Mampa reminded Musenge that under the PF, the freedom to speak was an unusual luxury to an extent that he was hounded out of the then ruling party.

Musenge and several other PF members were forced out of the party and he later formed the National Democratic Congress with Chishimba Kambwili.

“Ba Musenge should [stop] talking about President HH. [Musenge] is a tired and retired politician; who can even sit to listen to him? He is wasting political space, let him go to farming or repair his old buses and continue as a transporter. Ama politics yabakana (politics have failed him),’’ Mampa said. ‘’As much as we under the new dawn government are allowing free speech, some people have lost political relevance.”

He said much as the country was undergoing challenges owing to rising fuel prices, President Hichilema should be commended for many things, including freedom of speech and tranquility in the country.

Mampa said citizens are today free to debate and criticise government on what they feel is not going right, something that was not seen in the previous regime.

“Let Musenge applaud the recruitment of teachers, over 30,000 teachers, over 11,000 health workers and I hear more will be recruited. In yesterday’s (Wednesday) Zambia Daily Mail, there was an advert of Zambia Police officers. And as we speak there is training for about 5,000 military personnel,’’ he said. ‘’Surely, with all this Mr Musenge is talking about happenings of 2026? It is with great shock to see that a former politician Mr Mwenya Musenge can even talk about President HH. If he desperately wants political relevance, let him talk about how he lost as MP for Chimwemwe when he was in the ruling party, because that’s a seat he lost terribly.”

Mampa further said President Hichilema has taken his political opponents “into retirement” because due to unprecedented performance in his first two years in office.

“I will mention this again [President Hichilema] has brought freedom…employment, stability of the economy, debt restructure, rule of law, brought back meal allowances for students; free education, the CDF is being distributed equally in all constituencies of Zambia regardless of one’s political affiliation. This has never happened before, the list is endless,” Mampa said. “The few remaining challenges like price of mealie meal and fuel are being addressed methodically and soon these issues will be a thing of the past. Our President doesn’t believe in ‘cipante pante’ policies but he always looks at long term solutions.”

Mampa also advised Musenge on the former president’s pension Act, saying as it stands, former president Edgar Lungu has clearly been politicking, contrary to what the Act states.

He said President Hichilema will surprise his critics in 2026 because his performance speaks for itself and more things are yet to come.

“It’s like Mr Mwenya doesn’t even understand the former president’s pension Act. It’s surprising how a former lawmaker can compare a former president to an MP who doesn’t have a limit and life pension. Mr Mwenya should find time and read the Constitution before commenting on matters that he doesn’t understand,’’ said Mampa. ‘’Former president ECL (Edgar Chagwa Lungu) is in active politics, hence the government should with immediate effect withhold his pension because it’s against our Constitution. Musenge should instead join in the path to transforming Zambia instead of playing cheap politics to gain political mileage. PF should in fact thank President HH for his good heart because if you look at how he was treated while in opposition and imprisoned on trumped up charges, instead of seeking vengeance, he is the one preaching peace and everyone to be treated equally. PF criminals would have been hiding by now if it was not for President HH’s good heart. He has forgiven you but the cases you committed will follow you up. Your days are numbered.

Kennedy Liwmwanya investigates George Mpombo’s source of bombastic gymnastics

Kennedy Liwmwanya investigates George Mpombo’s source of bombastic gymnastics, writes…

IN my upcoming autobiography due for publication in February 2024, there is a part in which I write about my interactions with former minister of Defence George Wello Mpombo.

I became close to Mpombo at the time I was Times of Zambia bureau chief in Livingstone between 2003 and 2004.

At that time, Mpombo was Southern Province minister.

Over the years, Mpombo has been known for his inclination for unfamiliar or difficult English words instead of more common ones.

It is not uncommon to hear Mpombo using words like shenanigans, higgledy-piggledy, kerfuffle, brouhaha, tintinnabulation or the Japanese term hara-kiri.

In my book, I make an attempt to engage him on the motivation behind his love for such words and also seek to know the truth behind who remained with the Instruments of Power when President Levy Mwanawasa was leaving for Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, in June 2008.

Was it Mpombo as Defence minister or Vice-President Rupiah Banda?

Here is an excerpt from the book.

NEARLY every time I went to Mpombo’s office at the provincial administration in Livingstone, I would find him buried in a book.

He was an avid reader.

I do not really know whether all the books he read had bombastic words, which could have been the reason he was fond of using such in his speeches and debates.

One late afternoon, the two of us rode in his ministerial vehicle to the Livingstone Boating Club where we spent some leisure time.

That opportunity enabled me to interview Mpombo about his life, the result of which was a profile that was later published in the Times of Zambia in 2003.

Even when President Mwanawasa transferred him to Lusaka in a new capacity as Energy minister, we still remained close.

Later, our interaction lost steam, particularly when I moved from the Times of Zambia to State House in July 2009.

The main reason was that by that time, Mpombo had resigned as Defence minister from new President Rupiah Banda’s Cabinet due to some differences which he never disclosed.

We never communicated again until 2019 when I called him on his mobile phone to seek clarification on the status of who had remained with the Instruments of Power at the time of President Mwanawasa’s departure for Egypt in June 2008.

I just told him it was Kennedy Limwanya calling and the response was enthusiastic.

After that, I asked him about how he was doing.

“Ken! I’m as fit as a fiddle,” he responded.

In our brief chat, he proceeded to use some more unfamiliar words which I have since forgotten.

But what I still remember was him telling me that “when I come to Lusaka next week, I’ll give you a tinkle”.

I had told him that I was writing a book and that what I wanted was for him to clear the air on the issue of Instruments of Power.

His response was not negative and he went as far as saying he had reconciled with former president Banda.

It was from that premise that he promised to give me “a tinkle” when he arrived in Lusaka from his base in Masaiti.

Once he had arrived in Lusaka, I would then be able to put on record what he would tell me.

A week later, I called him.

I also informed him that I had told former President Banda about his response and that he was happy that the matter would now be put to rest.

Later, Mpombo sent me a text message asking that I forward him the questions I wanted him to respond to.

I did as advised.

I began by asking him about his knack for big words and whether it was a result of extensive reading.

In his text messaged response to me, he chose to begin with the subject of difficult words.

It went as follows:

I’m a voracious reader from my school days at Chiwala Sec [ondary] School where I could hold the assembly hall spell-bound, you literally heard a pin drop.

Each morning, I read the Washington Post, New York Post, The Daily Beast and Wall Street Journal.

At Chiwala, I was also president of the debating society, whose membership was by invitation.

I was also an effervescent English literature student who mercilessly devoured books by literary giant and Nobel literature laureate Wole Soyinka.

I was dubbed moving dictionary at school due to my bombastic gymnastics.

When former president Banda died in March 2022, Mpombo described his demise as a “stupendous and colossal” loss to the nation.

More details in my autobiography in February 2024.

President Hichilema Receives Credentials of Several Ambassadors, Calls for Global Peace

0

In an official ceremony held at State House, His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema received the letters of credence from various Ambassadors, reaffirming the commitment of their respective countries to fostering diplomatic relations with Zambia.

The dignitaries who presented their credentials to President Hichilema included Her Excellency Ms. Karolina Stasiak, Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Zambia and COMESA; His Excellency Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Gian Luca Perici, Ambassador of the Holy See to Zambia; and Her Excellency Mrs. Ingrid Marie Mickelson, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Zambia.

Additionally, Mr. Adam Burakowski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Zambia, and Mr. Jean-Marie Somet, Ambassador of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire to the Republic of Zambia, were welcomed as they assumed their diplomatic posts.

President Hichilema extended his warm congratulations to the incoming Ambassadors, acknowledging their appointments as a testament to the enduring and robust relations their nations share with Zambia. This diplomatic exchange exemplifies the nation’s commitment to strengthening international ties.

During the discussions, President Hichilema reiterated Zambia’s unwavering dedication to two fundamental principles of diplomacy: Peace, Stability, and Security, and Economic Diplomacy, aimed at fostering job creation and poverty alleviation.

The President underscored the significance of these pillars in the face of regional and international instability, such as the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which has had far-reaching consequences on fuel and fertilizer prices and, in turn, global food costs. Zambia believes that global instability anywhere has repercussions everywhere.

President Hichilema urged the newly appointed Ambassadors to play an active role in establishing and expanding trade and investment connections during their tenures, with the goal of enhancing the well-being of the Zambian people. He assured them of the Zambian Government’s commitment to collaborative efforts that lead to tangible outcomes.

In his call for global peace, President Hichilema emphasized the need to end hostilities in conflict-ridden regions worldwide. He stressed that conflicts and wars have not only created instability but have also contributed to escalating fuel and fertilizer prices. Acknowledging that instability affects everyone, he underscored the importance of working towards peace and stability in afflicted nations to ensure sustained economic and social development. President Hichilema emphasized that peace, security, and stability are essential elements for promoting both economic and social progress.

President Hakainde Hichilema expressed his desire for strengthened and deepened relations with the countries represented by the Ambassadors, emphasizing that his government’s foreign policy is centered on the promotion of peace, security, stability, and economic and social development.

In response to the reception of her credentials, Ambassador Karolina Stasiak affirmed the European Union’s commitment to its partnership with Zambia across various areas of development. Additionally, Archbishop Gian Luca Perici reiterated the Vatican’s dedication to strengthening the cordial relationship with the Zambian Government.

Jae Cash shares his experiences as a single parent!

The Lusaka-based prominent rapper Jae Cash has spoken openly about his experiences as a child growing up without his biological father and how he picked himself up as a man after losing the mother of his two children.

When he appeared on Diamond TV Zambia to discuss parenting, the CEO of Apa ili So Entertainment spoke with Chichi Daisy about his own experiences.

He began by describing how growing up with just his mother had no impact on him growing up without his father. He later added how he would explain this to his two children who lost their mother, especially the youngest, who was only about three months old.

“I grew up with a single parent; that’s my mom, and I honestly didn’t feel affected by not being around my dad. But then, getting to realise that my kids lost their mom, I wondered how I would explain this development to them.” During the interview, he said.

“Fast forward; that happened and we did the funeral process. My wife developed this heart condition that she was fed for in the hospital, but she didn’t make it, unfortunately. May Her Soul Rest In Peace.” He added.

Before his wife passed away, Jae Cash and his wife had two sons; the eldest was about four years old, and the youngest was only three months old. He did, however, explain how he ended up staying with his children rather than his wife, as per custom.

“Right after the meeting on the day of burial, we sat down to decide where the kids would go, so we had this talk with her family and there was a little bit of confusion here and there, certain things that I can’t really say right now because I really don’t know how the other family will feel but just in a nutshell, there was some talk. Some didn’t want me to have the kids; some thought I was not responsible enough and where they wanted my kids to go, I was just like, I would rather die than let my kids go.” He said.

He added; “I said I would take full responsibility and I don’t care. My mom is a single parent so I felt it’d be best for my kids to grow up there. If I myself grew up like this with morals and stuff, then I might as well just let my kids stay with her. So that’s how the three-month-old baby came with us together with the little boy.”

“My mom was staying a little bit far from where I was, so the plan was to relocate them and just bring them to somewhere close by because the little baby needed attention and I just thought I couldn’t afford to be called to somewhere like 30 or 20 kilometres away. I just needed them close by and I did bring them close and it happened to be like that.”

The Big Fish singer claimed that, had it not been for the fact that he is naturally an introvert, the death of his wife would have completely destroyed him. Music therefore serves as therapy for him.

He convinced himself that he could not afford to fail now, especially since he is a rock for his family, and that if he became preoccupied or overly concerned with his difficulty, it would mean he was going to snap.

“Music really helped me cross that bridge and I also had several people texting me here and there on social media telling me that if I needed someone to talk to, I should always hit them up and I appreciate those I never got to speak about this publicly.” He said. “Honestly, with time, I just got to accept because time is a healer of everything so that also helped me, including my friends around me.”

Chris Rock wants Jada Pinkett Smith to ‘keep his name out of her mouth’

0

Chris Rock is reportedly not happy about his name being brought into the latest saga of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s ongoing drama.

The comedian, who has had run-ins with the Hollywood power couple before, apparently wants his name kept out of Pinkett Smith’s mouth.

This comes as the Red Table Talk host is currently on her press tour promoting her new tell-all book.

The 52-year-old actress has claimed that Rock asked her out on a date while she and Smith were caught up in rumours of divorce.

Pinkett Smith told People magazine: “I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce.

“And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce.

“So he called me and basically he was like, ‘I’d love to take you out’. And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No, Chris, those are just rumors.’

“He was appalled. And he profusely apologized and that was that.”

This claim has frustrated Rock, according to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail.

“Chris has said his piece on the entire Will Smith slap, but now with these new revelations from Jada that she and Will have been living separate lives it is just another WTF moment in the whole saga from these past few years between Chris, her, and Will,” the source said.

All of this drama comes in the wake of revelations that Smith and his wife have been separated since 2016.

The current saga in question began at the 2022 Oscars where Smith slapped Rock as he was hosting, after Rock made a joke at the expense of Pinkett Smith’s buzzcut.

Rock angered the Fresh Prince of Bel Air star with a jibe that Pinkett Smith – who has alopecia – was going to appear in GI Jane 2.

Since then, it has been a series of back-and-forth jabs between the stars, with Rock taking aim at the couple in his stand-up routine.

Regarding the current set of accusations, the source said of Rock’s reaction: “Chris hates that she keeps bringing it up and bringing up the other revelations about Chris asking her on a date and all of that.

“He is a relatively private person and was just getting to a point where people may have started to move on, but now it is back in the limelight, and it’s just frustrating that everything is coming back to the forefront.

“Chris is over it and would actually love for her to keep his name out of her damn mouth.”

That last remark was a nod to what Smith screamed at Rock at the Oscars.

LADBible have contacted the representatives of both Rock and Pinkett Smith.

LUNGU IS PF CANDIDATE-PF

0

ON FORMER PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU

Tuesday, 17th October 2023

We have noted that a media statement has been issued and covered by The Mast of Tuesday, 17th October, 2023 with headline: “LUNGU IS PF CANDIDATE-PF”.

A further scrutiny of the statement shows that it has been issued by a party official named James Mwape with a position of Youth Secretary in Livingstone.

Please note that Official Spokespersons of the Party on key policy and party positions of the Patriotic Front are a preserve of the President, Secretary General and Chairperson for Information and Publicity, therefore it’s mischief to allege that the statement has been issued by Party.

Our position on the matter regarding our former President, Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu remains as communicated several times.

President Edgar Lungu was elected as party president in April 2021 for a period of five years.

However after the loss of elections in August 2021, President Edgar Lungu informed the State that he had resigned from active politics.

To this end, he appointed the Vice President, Hon. Given Lubinda as Acting President to handle presidential matters of the party.

He also delegated administrative and disciplinary powers related to the office, to the Acting Secretary General, Hon. Nixon Chilangwa MP.

In October 2021,the Central Committee considered these developments and accepted these decisions.

The Central Committee directed that President Lungu would remain on leave indefinitely during this period in order for him to be available to hand-over his office to the person that the party will elect as his successor.

As a result of this development, the party began to prepare to hold both the Constitutional Conference and Extra-Ordinary General Conference to elect the new President.

This process is underway but has since been delayed because of financial, legal and logistical issues that the Central Committee is determined to reolve and are being attended to.

According to our party Constitution, a Party President can only be replaced through an electoral process of the General Conference or Extra-Ordinary General Conference.

We have also noted that Government and UPND officials have expressed concerns that President Edgar Lungu still appears on the list of Office Bearers at the Registrar of Societies.

They also allege that the former President has returned to active politics.

Please note that, after the holding of a General Conference, President Lungu will formally be replaced by the successor as one of the Office Bearers.

Todate there is no programme or activity that shows that the former President has returned to active politics as maliciously alleged by the ruling party.

As the country may be aware, President Lungu doesn’t participate in party activities including campaigning for by-elections or chairing the Central Committee Meetings.

Although by law, President Lungu is eligible to participate and stand in the 2026 elections, to our knowledge and information, no such decision has been made or communicated to us.

The focus of the leadership has been to build a strong party and vibrant structures, that will be able to carry, to electoral victory, any person or leader as our presidential candidate.

The Day Ba Lungu Will Announce His Come Back, Thats The Day PF Will Break Into Three Parts- Kalani Muchima

KALANI MUCHIMA WRITES BELOW…

Welo come back sir. Elo if you lose for the second time even the to little respect you are being given will completely vanish.

But let me give you a tip sir. Mr former President Sir in 2021, your government through the ministry of home affairs denied the people of Southern province both NRC’s and voters cards there by denying them their right to vote.

Despite those attempts, Southern had about slightly over 800,000 registered voters and was number 3 on national numbers.

This time around southern province alone will produce, 1.5 million voters so your colleagues already have those 1.5 million votes in the ballot box.

Northwestern which had about 400,000 registered voters will come to about 800,000 then western province.

already your colleagues have over 2 million votes.

Then add central which UPND enjoys the majority support

despite Lusaka and copperbelt not being loyal to any party, i can still confidently predict that UPND still enjoys the lion share of support.

Eastern province is also loyal so we shall give the majority votes to ba ECL, Northern UPND and SP, Luapula and Muchinga UPND and SP but UPND will get the lions share.

what i am writting now is exactly what i also wrote before the 2021 elections and my predication came to pass and trust me this is the simplest predication i can ever make.

Whether you like it or not, say what ever you want to say but there is no party other than UPND which can go into northwestern, Western and Southern province and the larger part of Central and come out with votes to win it an election.

worse still state power on top. guys foget it. Just forget it. No part right now as things stand can wrestle power from UPND.

without any malice, allow me to say that ba Lungu is a weak soul. Ba Lungu cant manage to mobilize an opposition political party at full scale of capacity.

Infact, the day ba Lungu will announce his come back, thats the day PF will break into three parts…..

CHIBOLYA GRANDMA DENIES SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A 10 YEAR OLD IN EXCHANGE FOR K10

A grandma accused of sexually abusing a 10-year old boy in exchange for a K10 has told the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court that she was shocked when police officers interrupted her beer-bust at a shebeen on allegations of forced intercourse with a minor.

This is in a matter were 41-year old Martha Sampa, an unemployed housewife of Chibolya area is charged with defilement of a boy under the age of 16.

It is alleged that Sampa met the victim who was sent to buy cooking oil within the same compound and lured him into quenching her sexual urge at her home in exchange for a K10 note to buy himself some jiggies and candy.

Sampa is said to have falsely introduced herself to the boy as Anna as they made way to her house.

Upon getting to her house, the grandma allegedly fondled the young lad’s small and weak family jewels, which cannot stand firm to penetrate her honeypot.

Sampa allegedly gave the child a K10 as promised and asked him to bite the tongue about the immoral act or else she would spank him.

The woman pledged to pay the boy the same amount every time she ‘abused’ him.

It is alleged that boy disclosed to his parents about his sexual abuse at the hands of Sampa upon noticing some rash on his private parts.

Opening her defense before magistrate Mutinta Mwenya, Sampa said whilst enjoying some opaque beer at a shebeen with her male patrons she saw two men in the company of a boy enter the bar.

She said the men approached their table and the lad poked her upon being instructed by the men.

“I asked what was happening and I was told mwa ononga mwana (you have violated a child). I asked what I had done and I was told I had infected him with Syphilis but I told them I do not know the boy,”she explained.

“I asked the boy if he knew me and he confirmed. I asked him to mention my name and he said I am Anna. I told him I am not Anna but Martha. The two men left but later returned. They asked me to accompany them to the police and I obliged.”

Sampa said whilst at the police station the police informed her that the juvenile had accused her of sexually assaulting him and infecting him with syphilis.

She explained that the police ordered that she undergoes a vaginal swab but she was not given her results following the medical examination.

“I was never told the results. I was taken back to central police from the clinic. I felt ill and I was taken to Chainama and back to Lusaka Central police where I was released on bond and the matter was brought to Court,” said Sampa.

During cross examination by State prosecutor Malama Chisenga the accused said out of the many patrons in the tarven it was shocking that the boy singled her out as his devourer because she was the only female.

She denied ever knowing the child prior to her allegedly exposing him to sex at an early age.

Magistrate Mwenya adjourned the matter to November 15 for Judgement.

CHIEF’S INDUNA ABANDONS WITCHRAFT,ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS LORD

I’ve abandoned witchcraft for Jesus, says Ng’andu

By Ben Mbangu in Choma

A SELF-confessed 65-year-old Choma wizard has abandoned witchcraft for Jesus Christ.

In an interview with The Mast, Albert Ng’andu of Mboole, who is chief Cooma’s senior ngambela, said he did not know that charms administered to him by a Malawian traditional healer in 1987 when he was sick would end up making him practice witchcraft.

“Having been raised in a village and to a family that believed in superstition my life evolved around believing that charms were the only protection for man. So at an early stage of my life, I developed interest in traditional medicine to an extent that whenever I got sick, what came into my mind was that I had been bewitched,” Ng’andu explained.

“I got very sick from 1987 to 1989 and now for fear of dying as a result of being bewitched, I went to Malawi to look for charms for protection. A friend took me there as you know during that period people believed much in traditional medicine than conventional medicine.”

Ng’andu narrated that upon reaching Malawi he discovered that there were a lot of charms for all kinds of problems.

“I got healed and brought the charms for protection for my home. And these charms were planted around my yard and so no evil missile could access my home. Old men in the village that were practicing witchcraft were shaken with my powerful charms,” he said.

Among the traditional arsenals that Ng’andu acquired for ‘protection’ was an amulet locally known as chitumwa.”An amulet, also known as a good luck charm, is an object believed to confer protection upon its possessor. The word ‘amulet’ comes from the Latin word amuletum, which Pliny’s Natural History describes as ‘an object that protects a person from trouble’. I got a chitumwa from a Luvale person which I used to move with in the pocket and put under a pillow while sleeping at night. Whenever I sit with friends who also had Chitumwa with them they would run away because mine was so powerful such that no one could stand it. So even if we were served food at a public gathering I would remain alone,” he narrated.

He said the amulet has helped him a lot “to win cases in court and deal with whoever dared him”.

“Even in public meetings people could get scared to quarrel with me or arguing with me because of my powerful chitumwa. It used to send shivers in their nerves while some could urinate on themselves or poop,” Ng’andu said.

He said he also had another charm which he kept in a metal tin for applying as body lotion.

“I used this charm in courts and other meetings. As a Ngambela I’m in charge of traditional courts. People used to run away from me whenever they face me. They could cry. I also had charms whereby if a woman is divorced because of another woman, they could get back and make the one who disturbed the marriage get chased away or divorced. A lot of marriages were saved by this charm,” he said. “I had charms also to boost love and to win cases.”

Ng’andu said the other charm enabled him not pay any fare when he used public transportation or anything of that sort.

“I never used to pay transport money in any vehicle I jumped in. No one used to charge me even if it was in a bus. They never used to see me. Sometimes, I used to make my own transport by throwing a magic stick on the road and the rule was that you wait for two cars to pass then the third one you stop it and jump in,” he said. “And the third vehicle would stop and pick me up without charging me. The rule of that charm was to make it on the road by throwing the magic stick then first vehicle will pass, second will pass then third one will stop for me. I travelled extensively to all parts of this country for free using this same method. The most places I frequented was Lusaka and Livingstone.”

Ng’andu said had helped a lot of people especially civil servants to get promoted using his charms.

“There are a lot of people that got promoted through my charms and till now they are heading institutions, departments, while others rose to ranks quickly than expected even without proper qualifications,” he boasted.

Ng’andu said after using the charms for a good period of time his home became a haven of strange things that made everyone uncomfortable.

“My amulet or chitumwa got angry and started causing havoc to my family by making them sick, certain birds like owls could come and make terrible noise at home even during the day. A lot of strange things happened that gave me sleepless nights. My children were fainting. We called the Luvale man who gave me chitumwa or amulet to come and remove it and we burnt it,” he narrated.

“All these things I was doing, happening around me because of these charms I was using as protection. I didn’t know that it made me become an evil spirit as well. My family started getting sick not knowing that it was my things that were fighting me while I thought it was my enemies.”

Ng’andu said those that attempted to bewitch him kicked the bucket.

“Whoever tried to bewitch me they died. Whoever hated me died. We grew up knowing that killing and shedding blood during rituals was meant to feed the spirits so that they don’t turn on the family. As Bansaka clan from childhood, we grew up with charms and we were protected yet sickness continued troubling us. We were doing rituals by killing cattle, goats and chickens during family ceremonies and so this was part of our tradition,” he explained.

Ng’andu said his mother was the last person to die among all her age mates in Mboole area.

“Our mothers never used to go to their husbands’ place after getting married. It’s them who were keeping men. So they used to choose who to marry them and bring him home. When dying, the old lady told us that we abandon witchcraft and healing people so that we concentrate on Jesus Christ,” he narrated.

Ng’andu said in 2006 an American missionary by the name of Tiens visited him to try and share the Word of God.

“This missionary preached to me so that I repent. He used tricks of giving us second hand clothes so that we can be attending his church services. At first when he started baptising those that repented, myself and other friends who were still living in the dark world refused because we didn’t want to lose our magic power,” he said. Ng’andu said a local pastor, Albert Muleya from Choma preached to him until he decided to accept Jesus Christ.

“Pastor Albert Muleya made me accept Jesus Christ because during his preaching I could only see myself in his preaching though I was hesitating to repent because I was scared that once I throw away my charms I will die,” Ng’andu explained. “I accepted Jesus in 2006. Pastor Muleya’s church came to uproot the charms planted at home. I had a bottle of charms which if the sick person is fought by people once I used the charms from that bottle they would get healed immediately and whoever bewitched them would die. I used to make a lot of money through healing such that it was the only thing I was doing. Life was good and I never used to do farming.”

However, he said time came when he realised that all the magic he was doing was temporary for there was Jesus Christ who was more powerful than anything.

“When I accepted that whatever I had was temporal I brought men of God to pray for me. The last week I wanted to accept Jesus I had a lot of customers from all parts of the country. I made a lot of money such that I wanted to change my mind from going ahead with my initial plan of repenting,” Ng’andu explained. “I had a cupboard which contained all kinds of charms. So I thought of hiding the metal tin of lotion but later I just thought of revealing it. We burnt everything. As we were burning these charms three forms of rainbow developed covering my home only for two days.”

He said after burning the charms fear of being bewitched gripped him.

“[But] I have now lived 15 years without using charms and I rarely get sick. So with permission from Chief Cooma I’m going round the whole chiefdom to give my testimony so that those that are still using charms should give their life to Jesus Christ like I did,” Ng’andu said. “Charms cannot help anyone apart from Jesus Christ. The time I lived in the dark world I never had peace. At night there was no sleeping. I’m now free in Jesus Christ. From the time I got baptised I no longer get sick. Despite people still throwing their missiles on me, I’m now protected by the blood of Jesus. I was practicing witchcraft without knowing because the charms I had for my own protection was fighting other people. A lot of people that fought me using charms died…I’m now a full time farmer after stopping depending on healing using charms. I used to find a lot of money but I could not do any tangible things because the source of the money was evil.”

Ng’andu said after giving his life to Jesus Christ, he was privileged to go to South Korea and was also blessed with a motorbike given to him by “a certain church”.

“…a villager, I reached South Korea where even some educated people have never been to. All this was the favour of God. A certain church had taken me to South Korea for a tour and when I came back I opened a branch,” he said.

Ng’andu said the other benefit he has so far experienced after giving his life to Jesus Christ was peace with other people.

“I’m no longer in conflict with peopleThere is only love in my life, peace at home. I’m married to four wives and have 33 children. Because of the decision I made to repent now my family is living a free life without anything disturbing them,” said Ng’andu.

FEATURED NATIONALMnangagwa Plans To Ban Chamisa’s CCC Party

The Emmerson Mnangagwa Government has hinted that it would enact laws that bar structureless political parties from contesting elections.

Mnangagwa’s Justice, Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, told the state media that the Government was considering regulating political parties to ensure they are “organised”.

Ziyambi said it may become necessary to bar political parties without structures from contesting in national elections.

This comes after the “structureless” opposition CCC party led by Nelson Chamisa recently recalled 15 MPs, 9 senators and 17 councillors.

The recalls were initiated by CCC member Sengezo Tshabangu the party’s self-declared interim secretary-general, even though the party does not have such a position as it doesn’t have structures.

Ziyambi said the “endless” recalls by the opposition are a drain on the fiscus as the Government is forced to divert funds towards financing by-elections. He said:

I think going forward we need to have a discussion, and conversations to ensure that political parties are registered. They deposit their constitution and show that they are organised.

The situation that exists now is that we have had political parties that would just sprout towards elections.

You have a coalition of individuals with no structure that is recognised and soon after elections they start fighting.

You can’t tell who is who, and perhaps what needs to be discussed is that let us have proper political party registration so that all those parties without structures will not be able to contest.

ZANU PF rarely recalls its elected officials but the opposition has seemingly developed a culture of recalling members.

After the 2013 elections, MDC-T recalled 21 MPs including former Finance Minister Tendai Biti after a group of legislators had called for leadership renewal within the party.

In the post-2018 elections, the MDC-T recalled dozens of MPs and councillors following a leadership dispute.

Ziyambi argued that the Government is forced to divert resources whenever there are recalls and as a result, money that should have been used for developmental programmes is channeled towards elections. He said:

The Constitution and the Electoral Act state that when a vacancy occurs within 90 days we must go for an election.

And when we go for an election, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission must deploy people to do all the necessary preparations and this is an unnecessary expenditure that has to be borne by the taxpayers.

That money could have been used for development projects. We could put this money to good use such as improving the road to Victoria Falls and paying our contractor.

We now have to satisfy the constitutional requirements which require that we conduct by-elections within 90 days and mind you we are just coming from another election.

Meanwhile, Constitutional lawyer Lovemore Madhuku has called for the removal from the Constitution the clause that parties can recall members. Said Madhuku:

… the problem is not within opposition parties, but the Constitution and that clause should be removed.

Chamisa says SADC advice on domestic remedies not enough to resolve crisis

Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has said that domestic remedies are not adequate to resolve the political crisis facing Zimbabwe following the disputed 2023 presidential election.

The plebiscite held on the 23rd and 24th of August was, according to observers, marred by irregularities. Incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa emerged as a winner with 52,6% votes against Chamisa’s 44%.

The opposition refused to endorse the outcome accusing the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) of rigging in favour of the Zanu-PF leader.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) in its final report last week concluded that some aspects of the election fell short of the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

After refusing to endorse the election results, Chamisa called for a fresh plebiscite supervised by SADC.

But the regional body urged the disputing parties to seek domestic legal remedies.

But Chamisa believes that the local institutions are not capable of resolving the matter on their own.

“The SADC Final Report on Zimbabwe’s harmonised Elections is a powerful affirmation of the consensus that exists among the majority of Zimbabweans (both rural and urban) that the conduct of the August 23 Elections flagrantly violated the Constitution of Zimbabwe, Electoral Laws and SADC Guidelines and Principles on Elections,” Chamisa said.

“As the Report itself notes in its Recommendations and other sections, there are still outstanding recommendations from 2018 on the lack of impartiality of the key institutions.

“In addition to this, the Report itself highlights a litany of very serious and brazen breaches which result in SEOM concluding that the Elections fell short of the standards highlighted above.

“Given the above developments, based on the Report’s own findings, domestic remedies cannot be a credible response and are therefore clearly inadequate and incapable of resolving this long standing national crisis.”

The opposition leader added that, together with his supporters, they will continue to fight for “a just, stable, peaceful, prosperous and democratic Zimbabwe.”

“For those reasons, the citizens of Zimbabwe will not rest until a permanent solution and lasting political settlement has been found to address all their long standing political grievances, pursuant to achieving a just, stable, peaceful, prosperous and democratic Zimbabwe.

“No amount of bare denials, deflections, use of proxies, diversionary tactics, subterfuge and political side shows will take our eyes off the ball. Citizens are entitled to be led by a government which truly reflects the will of the people having been chosen in a free, fair and credible election.

“Our resolve is not shaken. Our will can not be broken. The citizens will not be silenced. Our struggle is just and legitimate. It is a citizens project, a people’s struggle for majority rule,” Chamisa said.

Meet world’s youngest president: 35-year-old Daniel Noboa of Ecuador

0

On October 15, 2023, Daniel Noboa, a 35-year-old businessman and politician, won the presidency of Ecuador with 52.3% of the vote, defeating his rival, Luisa González, who also garnered 47.7%.

Daniel becomes the world’s youngest president after his win against his rival, Luisa González, the hand-picked candidate of former president Rafael Correa.

His win is said to be the fulfilment of a long-held family ambition, as Daniel’s father, Álvaro Noboa, a billionaire tycoon known for owning the world’s largest banana exporting company, ran for the presidency unsuccessfully five times.

Education:
Daniel graduated from Harvard Kennedy School with a master’s degree in public administration and international development in 2012
He also has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Universidad San Francisco de Quito.

He is the driving force behind the Noboa Group, a multifaceted conglomerate engaged in diverse sectors, including agriculture, real estate, tourism, and technology.

Also, he is the president of the National Democratic Action Party, which he founded in 2019.

Family
The banana fortune heir is married to a former congresswoman and journalist, María José Carrión.

The couple has two children, a boy and a girl, namely Daniel Jr. and Sofia.

Daniel Noboa, standing next to his wife, said he would bring back smiles to Ecuadoreans’ faces

He is known for his calm and conciliatory approach, with a strong focus on job creation, economic growth, and a resolute stance against crime and drug trafficking.

He will be sworn in as president on November 25, 2023, five days before his 36th birthday.

Noboa in a press conference

He will only have 17 months in office until the next election in May 2025, due to the fact that the current election was triggered early when outgoing President Guillermo Lasso dissolved parliament amid an impeachment trial.

Four kidnapped Ukrainian children returned by Russia

0

Russia has said yes to giving back four kids from Ukraine to their families. This happened because of an agreement made by Qatar.

The repatriation is a program that aims to bring back more children who were taken away by Russia after their big invasion last year.

The youngest kid of the four is 2 years old, and the oldest is 17.

Ukraine found out that Russia has taken away 20,000 children from Ukraine.

But it is believed that the actual number of people deported is much greater.

In March, the International Criminal Court declared that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and his commissioner for children’s rights Maria Lvova-Belova are wanted for arrest. They have been accused of sending Ukrainian children out of the country without following the law.

Russia said that its reasons were only to help people, and they claimed that they saved lots of Ukrainian kids from harm. Important people in Russia didn’t take the charges against them seriously.

The diplomat, who wanted to keep their identity a secret, explained that the plan Qatar had been working on with Moscow and Kyiv will be put to the test when the four children return.

They said they hope that if the first repatriation is successful, more repatriations will happen.

Qatari Minister Lolwah Al Khater said that they are helping to solve a problem, and the return of some people is just the beginning.

“We are happy that both sides have shown dedication and honesty during this process. We hope that this will result in more efforts to decrease tensions and create trust between the two groups,” she said.

But it has been difficult to bring the children out of Russia. In at least one case, a child had to go back home by going through Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland.

One of the four kids was sent back to Ukraine and reunited with his grandmother. He arrived there on Monday after getting back with his family on Friday.

The other three kids, who were also reunited with their families, will most likely come to Ukraine on Monday or Tuesday.

Thousands of children in Ukraine have been taken away from their families and brought to Russia. The government in Kyiv says that these children face a deliberate attempt to erase their Ukrainian identity.

Sometimes Ukrainian families have had to travel to Russia in difficult and exhausting conditions to bring their children back.

Chicago: Landlord charged with hate crime for stabbing 6-year-old Muslim child 26 times

0

A man has been arrested for killing a six-year-old boy who was Muslim. He has been charged with murder and hate crimes.

Joseph Czuba, a 71-year-oldman, is being accused of causing the death of Wadea Al-Fayoume and causing severe injuries to his mother in Plain field, Illinois.

The landlord supposedly singled out the two people who rented from him because of their religious beliefs and the ongoing dispute between Hamas and Israel.

President Joe Biden expressed feeling very disgusted and disturbed by the attack that occurred on Saturday.

“This terrible act of hate should not exist in America and goes against our core principles:feeling safe to worship, having our own beliefs, and being accepted for who we are,” he stated.

The woman, who is 32 years old, was hurt by her landlord. The landlord used a big knife with a long blade that is like the ones used in the military. It had a length of seven inchesor18centimeters. The woman quickly went to the bathroom to call the police for help, according to the authorities.

Her six-year-old son, Wade Al-Fayoume, was stabbed many times in the attack and later died in the hospital.

He had his birthday party a few weeks ago. He had strong feelings of affection and care towards his family and friends. Ahmed Rehab, the executive director of the Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), said that he really enjoyed playing soccer and basketball.

When the police got to the place, which was around 40 miles (64km) away from Chicago in the south-west direction, they saw Mr. Czuba sitting on the ground outside the building. He had a cut on his face.

The people who were hurt, and are from Palestine and America, were discovered in a room.

Mr Czuba went to the hospital to get medical help before speaking with the detectives. He was accused of committing very serious crimes including murder, attempting to murder someone, displaying hatred towards specific groups, and causing severe harm to someone.

The detectives were able to figure out a possible reason even though he did not say anything.

The suspect attacked both victims because they were Muslim and there was a conflict happening in the Middle East involving Hamas and the Israelis. The Will County Sheriff’s office stated this.

The US Justice Department is investigating the attack as a federal hate crime.
During a press meeting on Sunday, CAIR introduced the boy as Wadea al-Fayoume and his mother as Hanaan Shahin.

It is said that Wadea was born in the US. His mother came from Beitunia in the West Bank and moved to the US 12 years ago.

“[Wadea] suffered the consequences of the strong dislike and exclusion of others, as well as the act of treating them as less than human, which I honestly believe is happening in the United States,” expressed Mr.

The father of the boy, Oday al-Fayoume, was at the press conference and was very surprised, according to Mr.

People who lived nearby, like Eva Case, were really shocked and couldn’t believe what happened during the violent attack. “I don’t have any concern about the circumstances,” she said to CBS,which is a US partner of the BBC. “Don’t blame someone who is innocent in life. “

Some people who lived close by said the two people moved into the house four years ago.

It’s making me feel really disgusted. “I can’t believe someone would do that to a small child,” a neighbor said.
Over 1,400 people died in Israel when Hamas came over the border from the Gaza Strip to attack regular people and soldiers.

In Gaza, around 2,700 people have died because of the bombings by Israel, according to Palestinian authorities. They believe that approximately 1,000 people are still missing and trapped under the debris.

On Sunday, the FBI announced that there have been more reports of threats in the US since Hamas began their attack over a week ago.

A high-ranking FBI official said that many cases were found to lack credibility, but both Jewish and Muslim institutions have been targeted.

MUMBI PHIRI DOESN’T LEARN

0

Mumbi Phiri’s recent actions and statements, notably her unwavering endorsement of Edgar Lungu, former President of Zambia, demonstrate a concerning ignorance or dismissal of history. Lungu’s presidency was marred by allegations of corruption, economic challenges, and democratic regression, issues that should serve as cautionary tales for any politically astute individual. Yet, Phiri’s endorsement seems to overlook or trivialize these critical aspects of recent history.

One would expect a seasoned political figure to recognize the importance of learning from past experiences. History provides invaluable lessons that can guide present-day decision-making, preventing the repetition of detrimental policies and actions. Ignoring or downplaying historical missteps suggests a disconnection from reality and a disregard for the well-being of the nation and its citizens.

Political leaders must have a strong foundation in historical understanding to navigate the complexities of governance effectively. This includes acknowledging the failures and shortcomings of past administrations and using that knowledge to advocate for better approaches and policies. Failure to do so may result in a perpetuation of detrimental patterns, inhibiting progress and growth.

Phiri’s endorsement of Lungu raises questions about whether she genuinely comprehends the historical consequences of his presidency or if she is merely pursuing her personal or party interests. A discerning leader should prioritize the welfare of the nation over political allegiances, and this necessitates a thorough understanding of historical events and their implications.

In the interest of fostering a healthy democracy and promoting responsible governance, it is essential for political figures like Phiri to demonstrate a willingness to learn from history. This includes critically evaluating past actions, acknowledging mistakes, and actively striving for a more transparent, accountable, and prosperous political future.

Mumbi Phiri’s apparent historical amnesia is a cause for concern in the realm of Zambian politics. Effective leadership demands a deep understanding of history and a commitment to learning from it. Phiri’s failure to grasp the lessons of the past casts doubts on her ability to navigate the complexities of contemporary politics and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development. It is essential for all political figures to be diligent students of history, for only then can they pave a path towards a brighter and more informed future for their country.

To us this endorsement raises concerns about the ability to learn from past experiences and adapt to changing political landscapes.

It is essential for political leaders to learn from history and reassess their allegiances in light of the changing needs and expectations of the citizens they serve. The endorsement of a leader associated with a problematic past calls into question the capacity to adapt and evolve. In a rapidly changing world, political figures should demonstrate an ability to introspect, adjust strategies, and align themselves with the interests and aspirations of the people.

Phiri’s endorsement of Lungu could be seen as a refusal to acknowledge the legitimate concerns and grievances that many Zambians have expressed regarding the previous administration. It is vital for political figures to display an openness to feedback and a willingness to engage with diverse perspectives. Blindly endorsing a leader without addressing past shortcomings can erode trust and hinder the progress of the nation.

In the spirit of true democratic leadership, individuals should be willing to step beyond their comfort zones and consider alternative paths for the advancement of their country. Rigid adherence to past alliances might hinder the development of fresh ideas and innovative solutions that could benefit the nation in the long run.

Zambia is at a critical juncture where unity, progress, and ethical governance are paramount. It is imperative for political leaders to put aside personal interests and prioritize the needs of the citizens. Leadership should be characterized by a commitment to learning, growth, and a genuine desire to work collaboratively for the greater good of the nation.

We are not politicians but we know that in politics, individuals often strive to remain relevant, seeking to influence the course of events and maintain a position of significance within their respective political spheres. Mumbi Phiri, appears to be on a quest to regain and solidify her political relevance.

Mumbi Phiri, known for her active involvement in the Patriotic Front (PF) party and her previous role as Deputy Secretary-General, seems to be employing various strategies to reclaim political prominence. Since her departure from the formal party leadership, Phiri has utilized public platforms to express her opinions, making her stance known on key political matters. This includes vocalizing her support for Edgar Lungu, the former Zambian President, and aligning herself with his policies and ideologies.

One may argue that Phiri’s attempts to reassert her influence in Zambian politics are reflective of her ambition to remain at the forefront of political discourse. By backing Lungu and presenting herself as a staunch advocate of his administration, she positions herself as a figure with enduring dedication to her party’s values, attempting to maintain her standing as a notable political commentator.

However, it is crucial to analyze the motivations behind this pursuit of relevance. Phiri’s endorsement of Lungu, particularly in light of the controversies and challenges that marked his presidency, raises questions about whether her allegiance is solely for the benefit of the nation or if it is driven by personal interests and aspirations for political power.

Political figures have a responsibility to prioritize the needs and aspirations of the citizens above personal ambitions. In striving for political relevance, one must be cautious not to compromise integrity, ethical principles, and the overall well-being of the nation. It is essential for leaders to demonstrate a genuine dedication to the people they represent, transcending self-interest in favor of the greater good.

As Zambian politics continues to evolve, the electorate should critically assess the actions and motives of all political players, including Mumbi Phiri. Transparency, honesty, and a genuine commitment to progress should guide their decisions and shape the political landscape.

Mumbi Phiri’s pursuit of political relevance demands careful consideration and scrutiny. While the quest for influence is natural in the political arena, it is imperative for individuals to align their actions with the greater interests of the nation. Only through principled, ethical, and sincere efforts can political figures achieve lasting relevance and contribute positively to the advancement of their country and its people.

WE GIVE OUR TOTAL SUPPORT, SOLIDARITY TO MOISE KATUMBI, ENSEMBLE- Fred M’membe

WE GIVE OUR TOTAL SUPPORT, SOLIDARITY TO MOISE KATUMBI, ENSEMBLE

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will hold its presidential and parliamentary elections in December this year.

Incumbent President Felix Tshisekedi is seeking re-election after being in power for four years.

This is yet another election that we cannot afford to be neutral. And the reason is simple, the DRC is not only the territory of our origin and where many of our relatives still live but it is also a strategic neighbour to Zambia hence our concern and interest in the future and leadership of that country.

It’s worth mentioning that despite the peaceful handover of power from Mr Joseph Kabila to Mr Tshisekedi, the DRC has seen very little or no progress at all in terms of political and economic growth and stability.

The hope of reconstruction and general improvement in the livelihoods of the people, which the citizens of the DRC had when Mr Tshisekedi took over office has not materialised.

As grand corruption, tribalism and misgovernance have become more prevalent and increasingly widespread under Mr Tshisekedi’s regime and this has completely shuttered the people’s desire for positive development and changes in the affairs of the country.

With such a record, an endorsement or support for Mr Tshisekedi can only come from another equally corrupt, divisive and inept regime.

Without a doubt, Mr Tshisekedi has presided over a highly corrupt and inefficient regime which has made the political and socio-economic situation for the people worse than before. Poverty and squalor, especially in the countryside, is also rampant and has reached alarming levels.

Clearly, this is a very corrupt regime that should not be allowed to continue mismanaging the wealth and mineral resources of the DRC. There is nothing Mr Tshisekedi will do in his second term that will bring positive results in the material conditions of the people.

We therefore, put our total support and solidarity with Mr Moise Chapwe Katumbi and Ensemble Pour La Republique (Together for the Republic) in the coming December elections.

We wish them victory in the December 20, 2023 polls!

Kanye West ‘struggling’ to release new album as ‘no record label wants to touch him’ after rapper’s antisemitic comments

0

KANYE West has a new album ready to go, as he attempts a comeback after his antisemetic remarks cost him millions last year.
But the rapper is finding it hard to pin down any big name distributors, who are all still keeping their distance.

Kanye is said to have recorded a complete new album with rapper Ty Dolla $ign.

But according to Billboard, the biggest names in business have all passed on the project.

The outlet cites sources indicating every major label is staying away Kanye – especially after the fallout from his hateful remarks about Jews late last year.

The ongoing war in Israel is said to only be fueling the hesitation.

So Billboard reports Ye is shopping the album to smaller distributors – a few of which have shown interest.

Kanye is expected to make a selection soon, and the album could be released in just a few weeks.

Almost exactly a year ago, Kanye courted controversy when he wrote on Instagram: “Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me.”

Several days later, the rapper tweeted: “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con [sic] 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.”

The star went on to allege he wasn’t antisemitic because “black people are actually Jew also” and that he is the victim of a “Jewish underground media mafia.”

Within days, Ye lost deals with Adidas and Gap and he hasn’t put out any new music since.

In severing their ties with Yeezy, the German sports giant said: “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech.

“Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”

The statement continues: “After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”

It concluded: “This is expected to have a short-term negative impact of up to $246million on the company’s net income in 2022 given the high seasonality of the fourth quarter.”

Kanye is reportedly planning to kick off his comeback with a secret concert in Italy.

But local World War II veterans have already called for a ban on the performance.

Word of Kanye planning a secret concert has sparked outrage among war veterans who were justifiably offended by the rapper’s praise for Adolf Hitler, reports the Daily Mail.

The outlet revealed that a set is being built at the RCF Arena near Reggio Emilia, about 60 miles west of Bologna.

The RCF Arena is the largest outdoor venue in Europe.

Sources claimed that the concert could take place as early as this upcoming weekend with the possibility of 80,000 concert-goers expected to attend the live performance much to the dismay of local veterans’ groups.

The organizations represent former partisans who battled against the Nazis, Hitler, and Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini during WWII.

The groups slammed the concert and Kanye himself, citing his professed admiration of Hitler and the Nazis.

They asserted that Kanye’s “political ideas are unacceptable.”

Douglas Syakalima Is Right But He Lacks Political Correctness… Zambia Is Where It Is Today Largely Because Of Poverty Of The Mind -Dr Canisius Banda

0

[The Alarming National Case Of Poverty Of The Mind]

Douglas SYAKALIMA is right. Zambia is where it is today largely because of poverty of the mind.

Even his own UPND is suffering from this same affliction. I should know.

We are where we are today as a country – stuck – because of our cognitive limitations.

How else would you explain a government defrauding iits own people and causing them to suffer by, at their expense, subsidising corporate entities such as the mines?

Why should Zambia, a wealthier country, be sustained by aid from the United Kingdom, a resource- limited ‘country’?

I know Douglas SYAKALIMA very well. Very very well. The man is incapable of lying.

Douglas SYAKALIMA, usually emotionally, calls a spade a spade.

Douglas SYAKALIMA needs to know that not all truth should be spoken. He is incapable of spin. That is just how naive or innocent Douglas SYAKALIMA is. He lacks the App for political correctness.

You see, a lot of Zambians are not aware of this fact. Zambia, over the years, has recorded alarming STUNTING levels of its under five population. The percentage of stunting in Zambia, for many years, has hovered about fifty [50].

Once children, these stunted citizens, eventually become adults.

Now here is the significant and interesting part.

When they become adults, children that stunt, will exhibit SHORT ATTENTION SPANS, a HIGH TENDENCY FOR VIOLENCE and a BELOW PAR PERFORMANCE at almost anything.

Clearly, Zambia’s most important resource, its human resource, has been badly managed over the years.

Dr Kenneth KAUNDA started very well. But along the way, the wheels came off the wagon, something went terribly wrong.

You see, the UPND is doing it’s very best. But sadly, it’s very best is worse than what the PF did. See? Feel for them. They are doing all they can, but their best is crap. Period.See? Poverty of the mind.

And now with the increasing poverty levels in the country this national stunting will now worsen, and this vicious cycle will remain unbroken.

It is not only Luapula PROVINCE which is cognitively challenged.

The whole country, including State House, is facing this affliction.

Poverty of the mind has severely constrained Zambia’s State House today.

How else would you explain its kowtowing to the West the way it is doing?

Further, how else would you explain State House celebrating the administration of experimental and questionable vaccines to a critical mass of the citizens. Tell me. Who does that?

As a matter of fact, politics aside, anyone that finds what Douglas SYAKALIMA said offensive might just be reflecting this national calamity.

Do NOT be emotional.
Remain rational.

Douglas SYAKALIMA should not have publicly said what he said. These are UGLY national secrets we discuss in private. KU CHIPINDA. But then that’s Douglas for you. He shoots from the hip.

To state that a significant fraction of Zambia’s population is cognitively handicapped is a fact.

But to say this publicly is tactless and elicits the exact emotional and irrational response it now has. It is akin to saying that Israel is wrong. Such statements cause people to regress and become irrational.

Though his utterance is jarring, Douglas SYAKALIMA should not be demoted. He must be listened to, his views should be investigated and promoted.

Demoting Douglas SYAKALIMA would be antithetical to national aspirations. If such a thing happened, then the case for idiocy by the demoting authority would have been successfully argued.

Such an action, Itself would be a symptom of this same affliction, cognitive dissonance.

Zambians must be comfortable with interrogating the actual origins of their backwardness and gross underdevelopment.

The truth, regardless of how offensive it may be, should be acknowledged and addressed.

When Zambia overcomes its cognitive limitations, its poverty of the mind, as periodically illustrated by the mines minister for example, Zambia will prosper, become debt-free, improve its per capita income, and begin to give aid to poorer countries such as Britain and France.

Douglas SYAKALIMA, watch your mouth, my friend. The world frowns on people who wash dirty linen in public. They forget that it is the washing which matters. Nonetheless, the Universe is on your side.

Zambia can, and will, do better.
Aluta continua!

HON SYAKALIMA SHOULD BE FIRED…. for demeaning the people of Luapula province, says former Mwansabombwe DC

HON SYAKALIMA SHOULD BE FIRED

…. for demeaning the people of Luapula province, says former Mwansabombwe DC

Mwansabombwe… Monday October 16, 2023 (SMART EAGLES)

Education Minister Hon Douglas Syakalima should be fired for demeaning the people of Luapula province, says former Mwansabombwe District Commissioner Jacob Chilufya.

Last week, Hon Syakalima told Parliament that Luapula Province has remained the poorest and least developed region because of the poverty of the minds of the people in the province.

But Mr. Chilufya says if President Hakainde Hichilema cares about the people of Luapula province, he should consider firing Hon Syakalima immediately.

Mr Chilufya says the language used by the Minister is insult!ng to the people of Luapula province and he should be relived off his duties saying he does not mean well for the country.

“I cannot hide this from you my brother, we are at pains to learn that a whole Minister can call us that we suffer from poverty of the mind. The people are upset and he (Hon Syakalima) cannot continue in that office if President Hakainde Hichilema cares for us. He should immediately fire him for using such a language against the people who voted for the UPND. How many people voted for the UPND in the previous elections?”

“We are not happy with such sentiments. The sentiments simply mean that we are all dull in the province. This party UPND does not care for the people and that’s why they have resorted to insult!ng us. But this party in government should not forget that the people of Luapula province added value for them to even form government. Because of the votes that the people of Luapula gave to President Hichilema resulted in Hon Syakalima to be appointed as a minister.”

He said the people of the province are not poor in mind as they utilize God given resources to advance their lives such as farming, fishing and other ventures.

He added that the province is also endowed with mineral resources such as sugilite which is illegally mined by a few individuals for their selfish gains.

Mr Chilufya said it would be a grave mistake for President Hichilema to keep in that office unless he had the blessings of the head of state in issuing such a careless statement.

HICHILEMA IS FUELING TRIBAL POLITICS – Fred M’membe

He writes:-
WHAT’S FUELLING TRIBAL POLITICS DEBATES?
It seems Mr Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND are perched on the defensive over accusations of tribalism. Why? Probably it is because of the promises they made to have a tribal and regionally balanced and representative government. Critiques are asking if what they are seeing is equal to what they were promised:

– President (Tonga)
– Vice-President (Bemba married to a Lozi)
– Speaker (Lozi)
– Chief Justice (Lenje)
– Acting President of the Constitutional Court (Lozi)
Attorney General (Lenje)
– Solicitor General (Tonga)
– Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission (Lozi)
– Chairman of the Judicial Complaints Commission (Tonga)
– Commissioner of Lands (Tonga)
– Chief Legal Advisor to the President (Lozi)
Minister of Justice (Tonga).

They are saying the key state institutions and the country’s justice system are basically is the hands of Tongas and Lozis (with very little or no meaningful participation from the rest)

They are saying the same about the key government ministries (Ministries that are not easily done away with by any government):
– Home Affairs (Tonga)
– Local Government (Tonga)
– Education (Tonga)
– Tourism (Tonga)
-Justice (Tonga)
– Foreign Affairs (Lenje)
– Health (Soli)
– Defence (Luvale)
– Infrastructure (Lozi)
– Finance (Lozi)
– Lands (Lunda)
– Governor of Bank of Zambia (Tonga).

The rest are, in the main, pushed to ministries that can easily be done away and receive very limited budgetary allocations.

They say the picture is the same for key defence and security agencies:
– Zambia Army Commander (Lozi)
– Zambia Air Force Commander (Kaonde)
– ZNS Commandant (Luvale)
– Inspector General of Police (Kaonde)
Director General of Intelligence (Lozi)
– Commissioner General of Correctional Services (Tonga)
– Chief Immigration officer (Lozi)

They are saying in all these key command defence and security positions there’s no one from the East or the North as the political leadership to keep the tribal and regional balance the political leadership had promised.

They are also pointing to the Electoral Commission of Zambia:
– chairperson (Lozi)
– vice-person (Mambwe)
– the other three commissioners are Tonga, Lozi and Lunda

There’s no one from the East or the North proper.

These concerns are raised about lower positions in these and other state, government and quasi government institutions and agencies.

These are the concerns they are raising and the response is to label them tribalists, divisive elements and prosecute or persecute them on charges of tribal hatred.

With these concerns and the debates they are generating our multiparty political dispensation is back on the spot. The concern is no longer the lack of political pluralism or diversity, but the hijacking of the political processes by tribal politics.

The challenge to our multiparty political dispensation is not the prevalence of ethnic diversity, but the use of identity politics to promote narrow tribal interests. It is tribalism.

But the African experience over the last six decades has
shown us the dangers of ethnic competition and underscore the importance of building nations around ideas rather than clan identities.

In the absence of efforts to build genuine political parties with clear ideologies that compete on the basis of ideas, we have reverted to tribal identities as foundations for political competition.

Leaders are often exploiting tribal loyalty to advance personal gain, parochial interests, patronage, and cronyism. How else can one explain the tribal or regional voting that was confirmed by a Commission of Inquiry following the 2016 elections?

We shouldn’t forget the fact that tribes are not built on multiparty democratic ideas but thrive on zero-sum competition. As a result, they are inimical to multiparty democratic advancement.

In essence, tribal practices are occupying a vacuum created by lack of strong multiparty democratic institutions. The political parties are unable to find common ground through coherent party manifestos and ideological positions.

Many members of our political parties often don’t even know that their parties have manifestos.

The manifestos are generally issued just before the elections because much of the effort goes into regional manoeuvring and building tribal alliances.

Tribal politicians are clever and calculating.
They are quick to dress in the latest fashion and co-opt emerging trends to preserve their identities. They buy influence and create convenient alliances.

Their sole mission is self-preservation, with the side effect of subverting multiparty democratic evolution.
For them tribal politics is a zero-sum game.

The way forward for our multiparty democracy lies in concerted efforts to build modern political parties founded on strong ideological foundations, clear development ideas and not tribal bonds.

Such political parties must base their competition for power on ideological and development platforms.

Defining party platforms will need to be supported by the search for ideas – not the appeal to tribal coalitions.

Political parties that create genuine ideological and development platforms will launch initiatives that reflect popular needs.

Those that rely on manipulating ethnic alliances will bring sectarian animosity into government business by appointing to key government positions people from their tribes and allied ethnicities.

Party manifestos should fundamentally be documents in which parties outline their principles and goals in a manner that goes beyond popular rhetoric and cheap promises. They should arise from careful discussion, compromise, and efforts to express the core values and commitments of the party.

But building clear party platforms requires effective intellectual input, usually provided through think-tanks and other research institutions. Most of our political parties lack such support and generally their manifestos are cobbled together with little consultation.

Tribal groupings see themselves as infallible but parties have to be accountable to the people.

By stating a vision for the future, political parties provide voters with ways to measure their performance on all fronts.

Forging platforms fosters debate within parties that transcend tribal differences. Such debates are a central pillar of multiparty democracy. Building modern political parties and associated think-tanks is, therefore, the most urgent way to counter tribal politics. Policy debate is a key element of multiparty democracy.

Specific manifestos would foster healthy political competition that would force parties to distinguish themselves from each other. Conversely, such debates would also help to illustrate areas of common interest.

Indeed, it is becoming clear that issues such as poverty, infrastructure – energy, transportation, agriculture and food, and telecommunication – and youth employment are emerging as common themes in our politics irrespective of ideological differences.

So long as multiparty democracy offers the best chance for sustained growth and prosperity, tribal politics must be replaced by genuine party platforms and modern democratic institutions like think-tanks.

Otherwise our road to doom will continue to be paved by tribal intentions.

LUNGU PONDERING POLITICAL COME BACK IS A JOKE, SAYS MAMPA

LUNGU PONDERING POLITICAL COME BACK IS A JOKE, SAYS MAMPA

READING that former president Edgar Lungu is pondering a comeback to active politics is beyond a dry joke and is an affront to Zambians, says Bangweulu UPND aspiring parliamentary candidate Happy Mampa.

Recently when asked if he would like to come back into active politics, Lungu said he would think about it.

But Mampa warned the former president not to try his luck, stating that Zambians are not stupid.

“ECL pondering about coming back in active politics is a joke. I will take it as such. The former president is being delusional to think that Zambians can give him a chance again. What is it that he wants to do that he didn’t do in 7 years? A lot of our UPND members and other innocent citizens died at the hands of his police and cadres – Mapenzi, Joseph Kaunda, Nsama Nsama and many more people lost their lives because of his thuggery government,’’ Mampa explained. ‘’Does he want to come back so that his cadres can continue beating innocent citizens? Does he want to come back so that he scraps meal allowance again which President HH reintroduced?”

He wondered what Lungu wants to do if he comes back into government.

Mampa reminded Lungu that during his time as president he divided the country along tribal lines.

“Does he want to come back so that his supporters can continue sleeping on money? Does he want to come back so that CDF (Constituency Development Fund) can go back to K1.6 million which other constituencies were not even getting? Does he want to come back so that he removes free education? We should ask ourselves serious questions on what ECL wants to achieve,’’ he said. ‘’The atrocities he caused are still fresh and that shouldn’t go without being punished. I think it’s high time we lifted his immunity so that he can be accountable for what he did. Does he want to come back so that he can continue borrowing recklessly at abnormal interest rates? President HH has resolved the debt crisis [Lungu] left so what is it that he wants to come and do? Let us be honest to each other.”

Mampa warned Lungu against ‘’taking his luck too far’’.

“ECL shouldn’t take his luck too far. You can imagine a parent at that age confirming that ‘alitumpa’ (he is stupid); even being proud to sing in public, it’s a shame indeed.

Those lying to him that he can bounce back are his number one enemies because Zambians are not thinking about him anymore. Let him enjoy his retirement and my advice is that he should stop politicking. He is defrauding the Zambians if he continues being in active politics while employing his pension. Let him decide what he wants to do than playing cheap politics.

ECL should thank HH because if it was other leaders, he (ECL) should have been in prison by now,” said Mampa. “Our country will never be the same, believe me. HH’s policies will help with economic emancipation. Daydreaming is dangerous, hence ECL should wake up and face reality. Those calling for his comeback are selfish as they are self-centred and only looking out to find a source of livelihood. No normal Zambian would vote for Lungu, let alone the PF.

Theirs is a closed chapter which Zambians dread. Lungu should not fool himself but rather wake up from slumber…once bitten twice shy. Zambians cannot be bitten by the same snake twice.”

LEGALISE SUGILITE MINING – LUAPULA ROYAL FOUNDATION APPEALS TO THE NEW DAW GOVERNMENT

LEGALISE SUGILITE MINING – LUAPULA ROYAL FOUNDATION APPEALS TO THE NEW DAW GOVERNMENT.

15th October, 2023

LUSAKA – The Royal Foundation in the Luapula Province has sent a passionate appeal to President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND New Dawn Government to quickly legalise the mining of sugilite to enhance the economic potential of the region.

Luapula Province Royal Foundation Chairperson Chief Chisunka of the Ushi People of Mansa says the failure to legalise the mining of the precious stones is hampering the economic development of the Province leading to the illegal mining of the commodity.

Chief Chisunka says the number of people who have been arrested and detained in connection with the illegal mining of the mineral proves the need for the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development to quickly put up policy guidelines if local artisanal miners are to benefit.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on President Hichilema at his Community House this evening, thevv traditional leader said the legalisation of the sugilite mining will help revamp the region’s economic potential owing to the value attached to the forbidden mineral.

He further commended the President and his UPND led administration for among others introducing the free education policy and the enhanced CDF allocation which have resulted into more children entering primary and secondary school as well as tertiary skills training centres.

The Ushi Chief who is also the serving House of Chiefs Chairperson further commended the government for the works on the Mwenda – Kasomeno – Nakonde as well as the Nchelenge – Chiengi roads saying the gesture will greatly open the region to sustainable economic development and growth.

Chief Chisunka however urged the government to expedite the construction of chief’s palaces whose works have been funded through the enhanced Constituency Development Fund.

In response, President Hakainde Hichilema said the process of legalising the mining of Sugilite will be expedited to benefit the locals.

President HICHILEMA assured the Chief that the issuance of mining licences to communities will also be expedited and appealed to the people of Luapula to partner with individuals and firms that have the financial and technical capacities in mining the precious metal.

He says he expects Zambians who will be granted mining licences to partner and not sell off their rights as that was defeating the whole purpose of empowering locals for local direct investments.

On the slow pace at which Chiefs’ Palaces were being constructed, the Head of State advised local authorities to expedite the processes as funds for the works had already been apportioned and was sitting in council bank accounts waiting utilisation.

Government has allocated atleast one million kwacha towards the construction of a Chief’s palace through CDF every fiscal year.

Highest court in India to make decision regarding same-sex marriage

0

Aditi and Susan didn’t fall in love when they first met at a book club in Mumbai.

“We didn’t like each other at all,” Anand, a filmmaker, said happily as she remembered the meeting. “We always disagreed with each other’s opinions on the books we were reading. ”

After a few weeks, the two women saw each other at a phone store. Dias purposely didn’t pay attention to Anand.

She made a big effort to ignore me. “But luckily, or maybe luckily for both of us, we met each other at the phone counter,” Anand said. We greeted each other and gave each other our phone numbers.

Over ten years later, Anand and Dias have created a life together.

But they cannot get married in their home country.

India, which is the biggest democracy and has the most people, does not accept same-sex marriage. This means that millions of LGBTQ couples are not able to receive legal benefits connected to marriage, such as adoption, insurance, and inheritance.

The current law only recognizes one of them as the legal parent of their son, which affects important decisions like who can make medical choices for him.

But, things might be about to change.

India’s highest court, the Supreme Court, has been hearing arguments from activists since April about a significant case. The proceedings are being broadcasted live to the public, and tens of thousands of people are watching it every day.

People who support the rights of 18 petitioners say that India should start treating LGBTQ people as equal citizens according to its constitution.

They said in a recent court filing that these unions were an idea for people in cities and of high social status, and therefore not wanted in the country.

The court is going to make a decision soon.

If the activists succeed, it could greatly alter what is usually a very traditional and conservative country.

“I want my son to have two parents who are legally and officially recognized,” said Dias, who is one of the 18 people petitioning, just like Anand. “And that’s why we think this petition matters to us. ”

Hindu stories from many years ago tell about men who turn into women, and sacred texts talk about characters who are neither male nor female. Same-sex sex was made illegal and only straight couples could get married in India in 1860 by the British rulers.

After that, the LGBTQ community in India, which is probably one of the biggest in the world because of the country’s 1. 4 billion people, has been treated poorly and excluded by society.

Both of these laws from the colonial period were still being used even 70 years after India became independent in 1947. These laws were no longer being used in the country they came from, England and Wales, who made same-sex intercourse legal in 1967 and same-sex marriage legal in 2013.

For almost ten years, Narendra Modi, the leader of India, and his ruling party, the BJP, have wanted to get rid of India’s connection to its past as a colony. They have changed the names of streets and cities and have promoted the idea of India being in control of its own future. However, the laws in Victoria that govern same-sex marriage are a remnant of the past from when the country was a colony. His party has been working hard to keep these laws in place.

In 2017, when Vishwa and Vivek got married, being gay was still against the law and could result in up to 10 years in jail. They had a small Hindu ceremony at Vishwa’s parents’ apartment near New Delhi. They only invited a few of their closest friends and family.

We had to do it fast. Vivek, who works for a non-profit organization, said that it had to be short. “My family was not there. ”

In that year, the talented Indian filmmaker, Karan Johar, wrote about the experience of being homosexual in India.

“I don’t need to loudly announce my sexual orientation as everyone already knows it,” he wrote in his book “An Unsuitable Boy. ” I will not say this because in my country, I could possibly go to jail for it.

However, it seems like people’s opinions and behaviors are starting to shift.

In 2018, the Supreme Court made a decision to end a law that made same-sex intercourse a crime. However, they did not change the law that only allows heterosexual couples to get married.

In the past few years, the movie industry and big cities in India have become more accepting of same-sex relationships. Bollywood, the influential Hindi-film industry, and cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru now celebrate pride month with parades and big events.

Vishwa believes that these wins are great for the community and have motivated people to keep trying to change the law, despite strong opposition from the government. He said that even if the judge ruled against the people making the request, there could still be some positive aspects.

It may not result in a victory. Most of us have accepted it without any problems,” Vishwa said. We believe that if the Supreme Court agrees with us, it will help us in the long run. We are prepared to keep fighting.

No matter what the court says, its decision will impact many people in India for a very long time.

Famous chef and LGBTQ supporter Suvir Saran is one of many who disagree with the government’s position. He believes that the government is showing that India does not accept people for who they are.

In areas with a lot of discrimination in the countryside, the consequences of revealing your true identity can be very serious, according to Saran.

If you don’t have good education or basic things for living, you’re in a bad situation. Saran said that you might feel damaged or hurt even before you understand your sexual identity.

Anish Gawde, who started Pink List India, a group that keeps watch on Indian politicians and their views on LGBTQ issues, mentioned that a lot of people have been expelled from their homes and made to live alone because they do not have any support.

Gawde said that marriage equality is very important to many queer people in India. “They keep loving each other even though people judge them and try to hold them back. ”

Vivek wants a positive decision to make his relationship with his husband recognized and accepted by more people.

“I want to be recognized as Vishwa’s legal partner,” he said. Marriage is an agreement between two people that is recognized by society. It is also an agreement about money. The privileges given to opposite-sex couples are extremely important for people like us to create a life together.

After asking the highest court for help, Dias explained that she now understands they are not doing this only for themselves, but for the many people who cannot afford to fight.

Now, many people are working together to take action. “I’m doing this for people who can’t do it themselves, just as much as I’m doing it for myself,” she explained.

Anand said yes, adding that their home conversation turned into a big movement that brought together India’s LGBTQ community.

She asked if we can be equal.

South Africa recalls soldiers accused of s3xual abuse in DRC

On Sunday, the South African army announced the recall of nearly a dozen peacekeepers suspected of operating a system of mass prostitution in front of their base in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

On Wednesday, the UN mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Monusco) said it had arrested eight South African peacekeepers deployed in the eastern town of Beni on charges of “systematic and widespread violation” of UN rules against sexual exploitation and abuse, and suspended one officer.

“In view of the seriousness of the accusations”, the South African army announced that it had “decided to recall the soldiers to South Africa to respond”, adding that investigators had been sent to the DRC to look into the matter.

According to internal Monusco documents consulted by AFP, the peacekeepers arrested are accused of being involved in a system of “brothels” and “makeshift bars that appeared in front of the Monusco base at Mavivi”, near Beni, and were used for prostitution.

According to a preliminary report, the officer in question “intimidated and verbally threatened” members of the UN, following the arrest of peacekeepers for frequenting brothels, which resulted in an attempted escape, a fight and a chase with elements of the UN military police.

This week, the UN Secretary-General’s spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, had indicated that Monusco had received information indicating that the soldiers concerned “were meeting after curfew in a bar outside the boundaries (of the base) known to be a place of prostitution”.

When they came to arrest the accused, UN police officers “were physically attacked and threatened by members of the South African contingent”, he added.

Since May, Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi has been calling on SADC (Southern African Development Community) countries, including South Africa, to deploy in the DRC to support the Congolese army in the face of the M23 rebellion, which has seized large swathes of the east of the country.

The DRC government is also calling for an “accelerated” departure of the UN force from next December, accusing it, after 25 years of presence, of having failed to put an end to violence by armed groups.

UN contingents in Africa have been accused on several occasions in the past of fostering prostitution, exploitation and sexual abuse of young local men and girls around their bases.

Last June, Tanzania announced the total repatriation of a 60-strong military unit following “allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse” involving 11 of them.

Putin Speaks On ‘Possible War’ Between U.S., Russia, China

0

Russian President, Vladimir Putin, Sunday, reacted to developments in the Middle East crisis and suggestion of war between Moscow, China and the United States.

A panel of the United States Congress had during the past week advised the President Joe Biden administration to continue expanding U.S. conventional forces
in preparation for any possible wars with Moscow and China.

On Saturday, the US Government made the second deployment of military ships and warplanes to the Mediterranean sea to forestall countries that may want to get involved in the Israeli war against Hamas.

“The Eisenhower CSG will join the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group, which arrived earlier this week. The Ford CSG includes the USS Normandy, USS Thomas Hudner, USS Ramage, USS Carney, and USS Roosevelt. Earlier in the week, the U.S. Air Force announced deployment to the region of squadrons of F-15, F-16 and A-10 fighter aircraft.

“The increases to U.S. force posture signal the United States’ ironclad commitment to Israel’s security and our resolve to deter any state or non-state actor seeking to escalate this war,” the US Defense had said in a statement.

Putin, who is billed to visit China soon, said suggestions of war between Moscow and the U.S is nonsense and should not be contemplated.

Putin opined that the US and China are only scaring each other with cold wars.

“I don’t think these are healthy thoughts in the minds of healthy people, because to say that the United States is preparing for war with Russia; well we are all preparing for war because we follow the ancient principle: if you want peace, get ready for war.

“But we want peace, moreover, to fight with both Russia and China, it is nonsense – I don’t think it is serious,” Putin said, as quoted by Reuters.

Furthermore, Putin warned that the US-Russia war will be a different ball game from other wars since both countries have nuclear capabilities.

“And if they want to fight with Russia then it will be a completely different war – it will not be carrying out a special military operation. Look at the Middle East – is that a special military operation – can you compare them? If we talk about a war between great nuclear powers, then it would be a completely different story.
