Dr Fred M’membe says USA discouraged Africa from attending

…the Russia-Africa leaders Summit in Petersburg

Lusaka, Sunday, July 30, 2023

“It´s better to be inside looking out than outside looking in…” Amb. Anthony Mukwita wrote

With hours, or even days to go before the official launch of my new book ´China in Africa, the Zambia Story´ remaining on the clock, I came across a very interesting interview between Russia TV or RT with Dr Fred M’membe on the sidelines of the Russia-Afrika Summit that just ended in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The reason I say ´important and interesting´ is because Dr M’membe, a leading opposition leader of the Socialist Party (SP) in Zambia speaks to several issues I have shared in my new book, it can’t go without a follow up, just in case you missed the viral interview.

In a bold ballsy move, Dr M’membe who has never been camera shy on issues whether be them good or bad, fingered the United States, as the country that ´stopped´ many African leaders from breaking bread and tea with President Vladmir Putin in the opulent culturally rich city of St. Petersburg aka the unsung top cultural city of Europe.

Dr M’membe told RT that unlike others in Africa, “our presence here is a demonstration of our independence and solidarity with the Federation of Russia who helped us fight colonialism.”

Bluntly, M’membe told RT that, “many people were discouraged to visit Russia by those that think only their way (of life from the west) is the best way but we say we have the right to choose own friends.”

A longtime open and fearless critic of western domination or hegemony, M’membe said in an era that is experiencing a major ´shift in global power´ and a push for multi polarity, Zambia and Africa, “can’t continue being dominated by one country or group of nations.”

He becried the fact that the United States alone presently has up to 29 US military outposts in some 15 African countries to project “their own interests” and continue threatening the security of African countries like Zambia while France has a presence militarily in ten African countries that like the US do not serve the interest of Africans.

Dr M’membe also criticised what he called “hybrid wars” being fought on various foreign soils against independent nations by the US and allies.

“A good example is that of the Ukraine issue with Russia, Venezuela and always starts with sanctions, bad press and a psychological warfare that turns a people against its elected leadership in favour of puppets,” Dr M’membe said.

The former newspaper Editor-in-chief seeks a halt to growing “Russophobia, hate speech because its now bordering on racism against President Putin and the people of Russia as their resources sanctioned abroad are plundered due to sanctions.”

He advised the west to stop their habit of enriching themselves based on neo colonialism and sanctions as they previously did on the back of slavery.

The Zambian SP leader also raised a red flag on Zambia´s debt restructuring programme which he said ´suspiciously´ came on board only after the government allowed the US to establish a controversial AFRICOM office in Lusaka.

Dr M’membe´s full interview is available on the Russia TV YouTube for those of you interested in the just ended summit attended by 17 African presidents out of a list of 49.

His views like those of other scholars in Zambia and abroad are also widely shared in my new book ´China in Africa, the Zambia story´ now available in Grey Matter, Bookworld, Takealot and Amazon for your reading ´blesure´ ISBN-978-1-7764285-6-4.
Zambia had representation from government officials, UNZA and prominent politicians such as Luapula constituency Legislator hon. Chanda Katotobwe who was attending the summit for the second time after the Sochi Indaba.

In an ever-shrinking geopolitical sphere pushing for greater multipolarity, I would urge those within and outside government at the highest-level summits such as the St. Petersburg one without fear of sanctions in future.

Its better to be inside looking out than outside looking in, in the field of international relations.

UPND MPS ARE TRAITORS TO THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE- FDD

PRESS RELEASE
29.07.23.
Lusaka.

UPND MPS ARE TRAITORS TO THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE.

The shooting down of a motion moved by Petauke Central Member of Parliament Honourable Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda, in which he urged government to re-introduce the Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs, is an act of betrayal by the UPND Members of Parliament to the Zambian people!

It’s questionable and unbelievable, to see Honourable Members of Parliament, under the UPND, deny Zambians to have a Ministry that could guide them to uphold Christian values, especially that constitutionally, Zambia is a Christian Nation.
Reports of rejoicing by the UPND MPs, led by Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu, when they successfully shot down such a progressive motion, as reported in the News Diggers edition of Thursday, July 27th, 2023, makes sad reading, in that the UPND has failed to uphold the
constitutional declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation.

Equating acts of various crimes by the PF regime to God’s Will and denying Him, a means of communication to His people, is tantamount to blasphemy!

The inertia by the Ministry to act when the PF attacked the UPND should not be used as an excuse for it not to be reintroduced.

The Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD), as a party that believes in Christian values, therefore calls upon all Christian faith based organisations, particularly Churches and Church Mother Bodies to rise to the occasion and demand for the re-introduction of the Ministry if National Guidance and Religious Affairs as it is in tandem with the constitutional declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation.

Only an Atheist grouping can deny such a motion and as a country, we can not have such a government in place that goes against its own citizens wish with impunity, by denying them a Ministry charged with the affairs of their Christian beliefs.

Zambians must therefore arise and defend the declaration that defines Zambia as a Christian Nation and reject leaders that intend to rule the country in an unGodly manner, as Zambians have always turned to God in times of trouble.

Normalise writing a WILL!

By Laura Miti

Discussed, with friends, the deep rifts that exist in so many Zambian families, across status, over inheritance. Disturbing stories of previously close extended families, siblings and even surviving parents and children, who now hate each other over estates

While, by no means, restricted to them, the situation is worst in blended families where either parent has children from more than one relationship.

Families are selling off valuable properties at give away prices, following disputes. They, then, share what amount to ngwees and close the door on each other.

As for court processes, between close family members, those are a pandemic.

Our conclusion was that, given that Zambians spend a considerable amount of their life’s energy building property, and trying to create the so called generational wealth for their children, individuals need normalise writing wills.

Further, couples should jointly own property, if that is the way they live their lives. Stories abound of a couple jointly pouring money into a property, whose title is one name only. When the title holder dies, well, the property passes to the joint estate for all heirs, not to the surviving spouse who, in all argument, now owns it.

I will end this by saying a nuclear family is only primary until children marry, and create their own primary families. What this means is that an amicable agreement on how rent from “a family house,” for example, will be shared, is usually only civil until new spouses and children enter the picture.

Then, individuals begin to centralise the interests of their own children over the original nuclear family. This becomes a bomb when the the line of the first inheritors has passed.

How it tends to go is: property belonged to Mr and Mrs Siame, parents toJohn, Martha and Mwaka. The three shared rent happily.

Then, John and Mwaka are dead and there is only Martha who now takes the rent. However, John and Mwaka’s children are resentful and believe they should still have a share. Quarrels start.

As for what happens after Martha dies, and it is the first cousins, many who didn’t even meet the original Siames, engaged in a money battle. There are no loyalties.

It’s a case of – let blood flow ngati ni so.

Simply, write wills, people. In truth, believe the Bible when it says – that which you sweat for, will be owned by a stranger one day. A friend kept repeating this to us, in our discussion.

When we are gone we are gone – thankfully!

We can only pray you do not get to see what your sweat does to your children, and their children. Even worse, how much of what you treasured is sold off, without a second thought.

This is done even before your intestines have burst out of your stomach, in the grave.

How Much Suffering Did The PF Cause For Not Paying Pensioners For Over Four Years In Zambia ?

HOW MUCH SUFFERING DID THE PF CAUSE FOR NOT PAYING PENSIONERS FOR OVER FOUR YEARS IN ZAMBIA ?…***

By Stembridge Sikalundu

The UPND govt has paid all the backlog of pensioners which were left pending for over five years . The new scheme under the UPND govt is meant to pay pensioners within three months after their retirement date . PF had zero opinions on this matter which kept zambians worrying and fearing to retire under the PF tyrans .

It is very sad to see the opposition leaders with reprogressive leading critics on the UPND govt ignoring the damage which was caused in this country before , it is very clear they all just want to be presidents and return to the PF old ways of irresponsible character in the country and the people . If today PF members are saying zambians are suffering where did zambians heavenly stay during their reigns ? , when their carders killed innocent citizens just to consolidate power with that massive intimidative culture . zambians were being levied everywhere and anywhere .Are these the only ills about this banditry episode ?, absolutely not . People were displaced and properties destroyed .

How much pain did the pensioners go through in this country when they were kept waiting for their dues for so many years ? , do they understand what these families went through at the hands of their uncaring nature of poor leadership which lacked humility and remorse thinking towards its own people . Zambians died leaving their money which they worked hard for many years of their life , families got broken keeping more children in the streets , criminals trends and prostitution became the ways of survival , there was a serious case of moral decay in the country . Today there is an opportunity given by the new dawn govt through free education to keep more children in school than being in the streets ,why should anyone decieve zambians not to see the change of things under the new govt , retirees will now get their dues in three months time .

When we hear that PF is saying zambians are suffering ,they should be the least people to say that because they over enjoyed during their time ,even rats had wings , we all recall that civil servants were given salary increments as low as 2% and 4% , civil servants were remitting their loan deductions through PEMIC and the PF govt misapplied these funds which were not rimmitted to various lending institutions on behalf of the civil servants , that prompted these instituitions to enter into a memorundum of understanding with the BANKS to effect other DEDUCTS direct from the personal salary accounts to recover their money , this meant that civil servants were being deducted twice torwards repaying their loans because of a Mafia govt which did not care of its ills ,whoever complained was treated with punishable offences by retirement on national interest , many families suffered in this country while citizens gave in every effort to serve the country .

The PF party leaders claim it was an advantage for the party to give contracts to PF members in order to enhence money circulation in the country , it became their money because they were in power , it is assumed PF ministers were better to Serve the country and be beneficiaries of serious plunder and money laundering using companies that are owned by them , when they stole this money they made sure they had it out as hand outs for Political mileage. We don’t see them dishing out money to their members that are complaining now that they are suffering , what has happened means they can not steal anymore because they are out of govt ,it is undeniable if their members don’t learn how to work hard and better their living standards , the situation will place them in a condition which may never improve their lives because of hoping and waiting to see PF bounce back with the same bad leaders that lacked good concious to govern this country .

No one will forget the TRIBAL DIVISIONS which PF members used in this country , the former ministers who want to be president in the PF party may have forgotten how they wanted to have govt deals in the PF govt by campaigning on TRIBAL grounds , who has forgotten the brutality that of ? , when we see some people humble today and saying PF is a party and not a criminal organisation , we must take gassing of zambians as one of the most cruel activity under the leadership of these tyrans, who was smuggling MUKULA species whom this PF party did not know , their ministers were being fired for exposing corruption and calling the fire tenders wheelbarrows , let’s not look at the bones in the mouth but the red lips that did the damaged and sucked on us in this country . God bless mother Zambia .

The UPND Leadership Must Borrow Answers Why The Poor PF Members Are Ready To Die With Their Leadership

THE UPND LEADERSHIP MUST BORROW ANSWERS WHY THE POOR PF MEMBERS ARE READY TO DIE WITH THEIR LEADERSHIP …***

By Stembridge Sikalundu

It is very important that as UPND members we understand why PF members are sacrificing in opposition to sink with their PF leadership . The question that begs answers is how many UPND poor members will sacrifice more than what they did to form govt , by being with the party after president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA is gone like what PF members are doing ? , when in UPND the most considered are the well educated ,elite and wealthy families who seem to run the shores of destiny in their lives .

The common denomination in the PF Political binary is the closeness the PF party leaders are to the followers , unfortunately after winning elections the UPND leadership chose the elite , rich and most educated people to get a step in the comfort zone , this is the difference between UPND and PF , if someone asks me how many rich ,elite and most educated will be around for the UPND party after president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’S terms ,my honest answer is that there will be no one around doing what PF members are doing to support the party and the PF leadership .

Am not so naive to support the UPND govt and also taking sides on the reality checks of how things are in UPND , when I hear that most UPND members have been abandoned I see the pain of sacrificing for the rich ,most educated the elite that have been elavated easily . It can’t be everyone that fits in the same boat but PF leaders were too close to the people that supported them to get power to govern this country . Most areas which are dominantly UPND ,the leaders have gone into oblivion and now they are called masters littering some properties a d telling UPND members there are no benefits in politics under this govt .

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has the mandate to govern this country , but who else is there to build the party and have the same strength that convinced the people of zambia to vote for president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and the UPND party after he is long gone ? . The UPND followers that had the forceful strength to mobilise and ensure zambians understood what the UPND leadership was meant to do for this country , unfortunately those who funded the party are the most important today and those with reputable ancestors record of existence that was paramount . Politics is about benefits , if PF managed their poor followers it is the main reason the followers are still largely behind the party abd their leadership , unfortunately I don’t think in my mind these intellectuals , rich and elite families will be there for the UPND party once president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA hangs up his boots in 2031.

These are reality the terms which we must understand even if we love president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and the UPND govt , as much as we are free to express ourselves on many political issues , the UPND character of inclusiveness changed immediately after winning elections , if my assessment is incorrect posterity will judge me wrongly because history will very soon repeat itself because of not handling party organisation matters properly .God bless mother Zambia.

THE BAN AND IMPOUNDING OF MOTORCYCLES AND BICYCLES MUST ALSO COME WITH BAN ON HIACE BUSES – RTSA TOLD

By Correspondent Reporter

…”Hiace “buses” are a danger to passengers and must be banned and proper passenger transportation be introduced…

The Communtter Rights Association has charged that as the Road Transport and Safety Agency -RTSA is impounding motorcycles and bicycles being used as passenger transport, the Agency must also begin to Impound Hiace buses.

Association Chairman, Aaron Kamuti says motorcycles and bicycles are used as passenger transport in parts of the country that do not have sufficient or proper passenger transport.
He says the association’s opinion is that other safe modes of transportation should be found before any action is taken against the use of these in areas where there is not much of an option.

Mr Kamuti has also charged that Hiace buses must also be removed from providing passenger transportation as they are not meant for that purpose.

“These have never been buses, these are vans. We just improvise everything on them.” He said.

He added that the seats are installed into them and they do not even have seat belt and that the material used used to manufacture the seats have been dangerous to the passengers and have contributed to causing passenger death.

He had Further questioned what is being done with regards to this “unsafe” mode of transport.
“Idon’t think it would make any sense for you [RTSA] to start impounding bicycles and motorcycles, it’s not making sense, you leave our the major fatal kind of transport we are using in our CBDs, Lusaka, Copperbelt….
These are vans, even on documentation, RTSA you know very well. When you are giving them the licenses, you know very well these are not buses.” He said

Mr Kamuti also said that the association has continually demanded for the removal of the buses and has written to the Ministry of transport and Logistics to have them banned and has since stated that the association will sue government if the status remains.

“We are sacrificing people’s lives, in the soonest possible time, we are going to take the Ministry of transport and Logistics, the government to task. We are going to sue you. We have seen people that are dying who are using these so called Hiace buses. He said.

Coup In Niger A Challenge To Democratization In Africa – Statement By Dr Vernon J Mwaanga GOEZ

COUP IN NIGER A CHALLENGE TO DEMOCRATIZATION IN AFRICA – STATEMENT BY DR VERNON J MWAANGA GOEZ.

The military coup in Niger which ousted the democratically elected President, is a major set-back for democracy on the continent of Africa. President Mohamed Bazoum was elected President of Niger in 2021, in elections which international election observers as “free and fair”. He was ousted by his own Presidential Guards and subsequently, the Army of Niger, announced its support for the coup. After went through a period of holding elections for political leaders at all levels. Recent developments in Sudan, Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso and now in Niger, are a major setback for Africa. This is the 7th coup since 2020.

The African Union has officially taken a zero tolerance stance against the removal of democratically elected leaders by the military. There is urgent need for punitive measures to be taken by the international community against countries which change power, using unconstitutional means, because they are an affront to emerging democracies. An interim leader General Tchiane has now been appointed.

Experience teaches us that democracy – whatever you perceive it to be – is a collective undertaking that involves duties and obligations, rights and responsibilities, that bring together the leaders and the led, the elected and the electors, representatives of civil society and political institutions in a constant process of dialogue, consultation and consensus building. Africa has suffered a major setback, when you take into account the fact that there are still people out there who treat Africa as a country and not a huge continent of 55 countries . There is still a frequent practice of ascribing to the whole of Africa, failings and misfortunes which occur in one country on the African continent. For example, the Eurocentric Press used to describe the Ugandan Military dictator Idi Amin and the then President and later Emperor of the Central African Republic, as “African dictators”,whereas Benito Mussolini of Italy, Adolf Hitler of Germany and Generalissimo Franco of Spain, were never described as “European fascists”. They were always debited to their individual countries.

We must all commit ourselves to upholding democratic values. We cannot expect to develop our countries without political stability. We cannot develop our countries without the rule of law. The role of the opposition is no less important, in entrenching democracy. The challenge for them is to show that opposition is in no way contaminous with disrespect and disloyalty to the state and its institutions : and far from being a force for dissension all the time, they are integral to true widening of the frontiers of freedom. We owe it to ourselves, to the present generation and to generations yet unborn, to make sure that we succeed. Failure is not an option.

African Union gives 15-day ultimatum to Niger junta to end regime

The African Union has issued a 15-day ultimatum to the junta in Niger to reinstall the country’s democratically elected government just as the coup leaders met with senior civil servants to discuss how they would run the country and as the US and the European Union threatened sanctions against the regime.

Brigadier General Mohamed Toumba, one of the soldiers who ousted President Mohamed Bazoum on Wednesday (local time), told state television that the junta met with civil servants on Friday and asked them to continue their work as usual following the suspension of the constitution. “The message given was not to stop the processes underway, to keep on with things,” said Toumba.

“Everything that must be done will be done,” he said, signalling the intention of the regime led by General Abdourahmane Tchiani, who also goes by Omar, to remain in power.

After its meeting on Friday, the African Union Peace and Security Council said it was concerned by the “alarming resurgence” of coups that undermine democracy and stability on the continent. It asked the soldiers to “return immediately and unconditionally to their barracks and restore constitutional authority, within a maximum of 15 days”.

Bazoum, whose condition and that of his officials remains unknown since the government was overthrown, should also be released immediately and unconditionally, the AU said. Failure to do so would compel the bloc to take “necessary action, including punitive measures against the perpetrators”.

On the streets of the Nigerien capital Niamey on Saturday, things appeared to be returning to normal, though many in the international community were still on lockdown with hotels full of foreigners, many given instructions not to leave.

Locals say they’re waiting to see what unfolds, with many still in support of Bazoum who has not yet resigned. “I’m with him, he does a good work. [But] what can we do?” said Mohamed Cisse, a street seller. “This is [the new leader’s] time, Bazoum’s time is over,” he said.

Tchiani, the junta leader and commander of Niger’s presidential guard, is close to former Nigerien president Mahamadou Issoufou, who stepped down in 2021 after a decade in office. Tchiani’s takeover of power will reinforce speculation that Issoufou is behind the coup, said Ulf Laessing, head of the Sahel program at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, a German think tank and consultancy.

The US threatened to halt its economic support to Niger while the European Union announced the immediate indefinite suspension of budgetary support and security assistance.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who is in Australia as part of a Pacific tour, estimated America’s economic and security partnership with Niger at hundreds of millions of dollars and said its continuity depends on “the continuation of the democratic governance and constitutional order”.

“So that assistance, that support, is in clear jeopardy as a result of these actions, which is another reason why they need to be immediately reversed,” Blinken said.

While there are no signs of the junta backing down amid growing international pressure, analysts called for synergy in the interventions of the international community and continental organisations such as the AU and the regional bloc of ECOWAS, which is scheduled to meet over the coup on Sunday.

A successful coup in Niger and the sanctions in the aftermath could cause more hardship for millions of poor and hungry people in West Africa and could further threaten international relations with the region, which is seeing a resurgence of coups in recent years, according to Idayat Hassan, senior Africa program fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

“A non-reversal of the coup also means that we are defining a new world order in West Africa in particular as you are pitching the west and other countries against few military regimes which may be backed by Russia,” said Hassan.

Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles files for divorce from second husband Richard Lawson

0

After 8 years of marriage, Beyoncé‘s mother Tina Knowles-Lawson has filed for divorce from her second husband Richard Lawson. According to TMZ, Tina filed for the divorce on Wednesday on the grounds of irreconcilable differences and stated the date of separation as Tuesday.

The 69-year-old in the divorce documents has also asked the court to cancel the court’s power to grant spousal support to her or Lawson. Initially called Celestine Knowles, Tina had her name changed to Celestine Lawson in the wake of her marriage with Richard. She has, however, asked for the former name to be restored.

Tina was initially married to Beyoncé and Solange’s father Mathew Knowles before they went their separate ways in 2009 after more than 30 years of marriage. Tina is said to have ended that marriage after she got to know Matthew had an affair that resulted in the birth of a child, Page Six reported. The former couple finalized their divorce in 2011.

Tina then married Lawson in 2015 after they started dating two years prior. That was also Lawson’s second marriage. “I’ve known Richard for 40 years, and when we reconnected, it was, just, I felt like, a gift from God,” Tina said about their relationship on the Tamron Hall Show last year.

“I really mean that because I prayed. After I went through a divorce, it was pretty devastating after 33 years, and I always planned on, if it was in God’s plan, to get married again because I like being married. I like being in a relationship.”

To celebrate their wedding anniversary in 2021, Lawson in an Instagram post also revealed how he met his future wife. The actor said Tina was married and pregnant with Beyoncé when his sister introduced them.

“I thought you were one of the most beautiful women I had ever met. Breathtaking.!! The thing that was so striking was that your beauty continued to be enhanced by your incredible heart, compassion, empathy, generosity, and philanthropy,” he shared.

“You were pregnant with Beyonce at the time, and married, so my incredible attraction for you then, could only live in my fantasy. As we remained friends throughout the years, I took great pleasure in observing you become the ultimate mother, especially for your own daughters, but also for the way you care for and nurture women all over the world.”

Lawson also said it took “32 years for my attraction for you to come full circle’, adding, “It was well worth the wait.”

VEDANTA IS A BROKE INVESTOR – KELVIN KAUNDA

VEDANTA IS A BROKE INVESTOR – KELVIN KAUNDA

….as he blasts the UPND Government for failing to improve the living standards of majority Zambians in 2 years

Kitwe, Sunday, July 30, 2023 ( Smart Eagles )

The New Dawn Government has been blasted for failing to improve the living standards of the majority since they formed Government.

The UPND will clock two years being in power next month.

Socialist Party National Youth Chairperson Kelvin Kaunda said “UBUTEKO Bwafilayo led by Bashi Promise has not done anything tangible”.

Mr Kaunda has told the media on the Copperbelt that Zambians are still waiting for change they were promised.

“We want to remind them that the material conditions of the people have not changed,” he said.

And Mr Kaunda has asked Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Garry Nkombo to stop victimising the street vendors.

He said the vendors are not on the streets because they want to but it is due to high poverty levels.

“The material conditions of Garry Nkombo has changed, he cannot relate with the majority Zambians. How you are living is not the way others are living. The fact that you have a better job, the Zambian people do not have that. The street vendors mwapata nabo bantu, they have families, that’s where they find a living. Have mercy on the Street vendors. We will not allow to see the street vendors being victimised,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Kaunda has warned the Government that there is nothing Vedanta would do to improve the lives of the people on the Copperbelt if given the mantle to run KCM.

He said Vedanta is a ‘broke’ investor which must not be entertained.

Mr Kaunda said it would be unwise to expect something new from Vedanta.

“Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. At the time it was leaving, it was owing 500illion dollars to standard bank of south Africa. The Zambian people have been optimistic that this administration had a solution. We challenge this administration to give us a credible investor on the copperbelt. We have credible investors from Russia, credible investors from China, they can even look from within….,” he said.

Mr Kaunda has also stated that it was right for the previous Government to repossess KCM from Vedanta.

He said just because it was done in Zambia, people want to classify it as a problem.

He said the resources which the country has must benefit the Zambians.

“We have seen in Europe where Government take over property to safeguard public interests. But when the same thing happens in Zambia, it is classified as a problem. These resources are for the Zambian people. Now it appears they have waited all in vain to benefit. Vedanta is not in any way going to change the narrative. They will still fail to give the people what is rightfully theirs. There are a lot of investors who can be invited…,” he said.

Wives Look After Your Husbands, Don’t Blame Other Women Who Give Comfort To Your Men When You Mistreat Them – Guard Jealously What You Have- Chilufya Tayali

EEP President Chilufya Tayali
WIVES LOOK AFTER YOUR HUSBANDS, DON’T BLAME OTHER WOMEN WHO GIVE COMFORT TO YOUR MEN WHEN YOU MISTREAT THEM – GUARD JEALOUSLY WHAT YOU HAVE
====================
These stories are coming up on social media and as a man that loves families being together I want to address them, later in the day. Here is an article from a frustrated wife:

“The lady below has been screwing married men for a living. Among those married men is someone “I thought was my husband for years”. Note: I use the clause above because a married man who lives recklessly does not qualify to be called “a husband” neither does he qualify to be called “a father”, such a one is for the streets.

Her name is Sharon; her number is 0978 (I am attaching her number incase there are other married men interested; you just have to be loaded though) or you can find her at some place in Kaunda square called KAMTUZI (I hope I got the spelling correct).

There are videos and chats with the said “married man” of which some have been attached.

I have chosen to not attach the man’s photo as my son, who happens to be his son too is in his late teens and in an examination class. Therefore, I will not put him in turmoil.
Additionally, there are certain conditions that I have laid down for him that he needs to meet in 48 hours.

Hello Sharon, 24 hours has elapsed; your silence entails, “do whatever you want woman” and this is me doing whatever the hell I want🤷🏿‍♀️..
However, this is good publicity for you, you may get new clients. You are welcome ‼️‼️
Note: I do not live in a glass house😉.”

At the centre of it, the name that every media talking head had on their lips was Mr Vladmir Putin, the President of the Federation of Russia.

Mr Putin was at home hosting some 17 heads of states out of an invited list of 49 that gathered in the resort city to engage with him over a myriad of geopolitical issues including the elephant in the room, the invasion of Ukraine.

Some such as Zambia simply sent representatives at ministerial level but either way, the die was cast as international media pulled shots trying to get the first view out.

Of special note is the fact that other members of government such as legislator Chanda Katotobwe found themselves at the summit out of own interest, including the University of Zambia, the largest and oldest university in Zambia.

The government of Zambia was also represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Commentators from the western media such as CNN and other ´n´s that traditionally paint President Putin as a pariah went ahead and did their thing.

Others as such Al Jazeera, GTN, Russia TV also did their best trying to give the world a balanced view of the summit, the second after Sochi.

The western media the lines were drawn, ´either you are with us´ or you are with ´Russia´.

President Putin clearly stated for the record that “Russia was advocating expansion of representation of African countries in the UN Security Council and other UN structures.”

Media reports cited him saying, “Russia and Africa strive to develop cooperation in all areas and strengthen ‘honest, open, constructive’ partnership.”

He added, “Russia will also assist in opening new African embassies and consulates in Russia.”

The President said, the reopening of embassies in Burkina Faso and Equatorial Guinea are going on as planned.

He said sovereignty was “not a one-time achieved state,” and it must be constantly protected.

Mr. Putin also promised to aid Africa in countering threats “such as terrorism, piracy, and transnational crimes adding that it would continue to train personnel from African countries.”

The Major Take Aways from St Petersburg

In my humble view, the African countries that attended the summit at Presidential level obviously gained a bit more from their proximity engagement with President Putin than those that didn’t, a natural unwritten law of international relations. Take Eretria for instance that showed open public gratitude to Russia, even in the face of further sanctions.

The adage goes “either you are on the dinner table as a guest or you might just be the dish, but there´s always room to up the game in future.”

Mostly portrayed as a ´bad guy´ in the western press, the Russian President had the world stage eating from his proverbial, palms as he announced goodwill gestures for African countries without strings.

The biggest difference between Russia and China vs the US in geopolitics is that they tie ´no conditions´ to their aid.

The goodwill gestures from Mr Putin included greater debt-write offs and provision of food in term of grain (corn barley and wheat) donations that are likely to win President Putin lots of friends, hearts and souls, according to pundits that have been following the meltdown between Russia and the US led NATO countries, since and before the invasion of Ukraine.

President Putin announced generous donations of between 25,000 to 50, 000 tons of grain to six Africa countries currently under stress or sanctions from Uncle Sam and allies.

“In the next three to four months,” said President Putin, “we will be providing free grain to Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, the Central African Republic, and Eritrea. Free of charge. We will also provide free delivery of this product to consumers.”

Putin From Grain to Cash for Africa

The Russian President also announced the cancellation of up to US$23 billion of debt African countries owe the Federation that seems to have come back roaring after the fall of the USSR according to analysts, playing a crucial role in ensuring that the world remained multi-polar.

Mr. Putin seeks to advocate the “expansion of representation of African countries in the UN Security Council and other UN structures.” Despite having a population of about 1,4 billion, Afrika is ´nothing´ on the UNSC.

The President told the summit that, “Russia and Africa strive to develop cooperation in all areas and strengthen ‘honest, open, constructive’ partnership.”

“Russia will also assist in opening new African embassies and consulates in Russia,” he said.

President Putin said, “the reopening of embassies in Burkina Faso and Equatorial Guinea is going as planned,” and shows the sincerity Russia has with African partners today and in the future.

He said, “sovereignty was not a one-time achieved state,” and it must be constantly protected.

Upon Zambia, a History of Education Diplomacy

Up to 6000 Zambians for instance have been trained by Russia from independence to date from bachelor’s degree level all the way to PhD´s in fields of engineering, medicine etc.

It´s by far the largest reservoir of scholarships above any other western corporation partner since independence, UNZA has just escalated that now while everyone went to sleep.

Is Zambia still Gaining from Russian Ties?

This year alone some150 Zambian students (citizens) will be studying at top Russian universities on full and partial scholarships, paid for by Russian taxpayers from bachelor level to PhD.
Russia, probably holding one of the largest reserves of gas and oil says it will continue to work for a better independent Africa founded on mutual respect, without conditionalities based on money, religion, or ideology, as the invasion in Ukraine plays out. A story I have told several times.

Soft power is key in the story going forward as more and more people shy away from military power.

With the Africa Russia summit coming to an end, one thing is for sure according to geopolitical experts such as Prof. Richard D. Wolff.

The Divided World Order

The world is now divided in two, the US led NATO and the BRICS comprising China, Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa (and rising numbers) etc with a combined GDP running into trillions of dollars and the largest population numbers in the world.

It is not clear who will win, right or wrong, but for countries like ours caught in this geopolitical ´war´ and the Thucydides Trap plays out, its important to play a ´long game´ and not a short one based on an election season.

We must strike our own balance carefully and choose our own enemies and friends and not inherit other countries, frenemies, and values.

To understand more on this geopolitical issue in a much simpler sense, please get my book now available in Bookworld, Grey Matter, Amazon and Takealot.

My new book title is “China in Africa, the Zambia Story” by Anthony Mukwita.

Zimbabwe stands in solidarity with Putin over Ukraine war- Mnangagwa

ST PETERSBURG, Russia – Zimbabwe stands in solidarity with Russia as it wages war on Ukraine, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said in a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

In comments that will anger western countries and likely prolong Zimbabwe’s international isolation, Mnangagwa openly chose sides in the war, where other African leaders whose countries enjoy strong relations with Russia have only declared neutrality.

“Zimbabwe is in solidarity with the Russian Federation in your country’s special military operation in Ukraine,” Mnangagwa declared, reading from a prepared speech.

On Thursday, during a speech to at the Russia Africa summit in St Petersburg, Putin pledged to donate 50,000 tonnes of free grain to Zimbabwe.

He also gifted Mnangagwa with a Mil Mi-38 helicopter worth US$16 million.

Meanwhile, the African Union on Friday urged Putin to move ahead with its peace plan to end the Ukraine conflict and to renew a deal on the safe wartime export of Ukrainian grain that Moscow tore up last week.

While not directly critical of Russia, African leaders’ interventions on the second day of the summit were more concerted and forceful than those that African countries have voiced until now.

They served as reminders of the depth of African concern at the consequences of the war, especially rising food prices.

“This war must end. And it can only end on the basis of justice and reason,” African Union Commission Chairman Moussa Faki Mahamat told Putin and African leaders in St Petersburg.

“The disruptions of energy and grain supplies must end immediately. The grain deal must be extended for the benefit of all the peoples of the world, Africans in particular.”

The African plan floats a series of possible steps to defuse the conflict including a Russian troop pull-back, removal of Russian tactical nuclear weapons from Belarus, suspension of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant against Putin, and sanctions relief.

Putin gave it a cool reception when African leaders presented it to him in June. On Friday, he said Moscow respected the proposal and was carefully studying it, with Ukraine due to be discussed later at a working dinner.

Congo Republic President Denis Sassou Nguesso said the African initiative “deserves the closest attention”, calling “urgently” for peace.

Senegalese President Macky Sall called for “a de-escalation to help create calm”, while South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said he hoped that “constructive engagement and negotiation” could help end the conflict.

The stream of calls prompted Putin repeatedly to defend Russia’s position and place the blame on Ukraine and the West.

He said it was Kyiv that was refusing to negotiate under a decree passed shortly after he claimed last September to have annexed four Ukrainian regions that Russia partly controls.

Russia has long said it is open to talks but that these must take account of the “new realities” on the ground.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has rejected the idea of a ceasefire now that would leave Russia in control of nearly a fifth of his country and give its forces time to regroup after 17 grinding months of war.

AU chair Azali Assoumani offered some support for Putin’s line, saying the Russian leader had shown his readiness to talk, and “now we have to convince the other side”.

At the summit, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi urged Russia to revive the Black Sea grain deal which, until Moscow refused to renew it last week, had allowed Ukraine to export grain from its ports despite the conflict.

Egypt is a big buyer of grain via the Black Sea route, and Sisi told the summit it was “essential to reach agreement” on reviving the deal.

Putin responded by arguing, as he has in the past, that rising world food prices were a consequence of Western policy mistakes long predating the Ukraine war.

He has repeatedly said Russia quit the agreement because the deal was not getting grain to the poorest countries and the West was not keeping its side of the bargain.

Russia’s withdrawal and its bombardment of Ukrainian ports and grain depots have prompted accusations from Ukraine and the West that it is using food as a weapon of war, and driven the global wheat price up by some 9 percent.

The Ukrainian Grain Association estimated in May that 4 million metric tons of Ukrainian grain had been stolen since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February last year.

On Thursday, Putin promised to deliver up to 300,000 tons of free Russian grain – which U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called a “handful of donations” – among six of the countries attending the summit, including Zimbabwe.

Assoumani said Putin’s offer might not be enough, and what was needed was a ceasefire.

Putin was seeking to use the event to inject new momentum into Russia’s ties with Africa and enlist its support in countering what he describes as U.S. hegemony and Western neo-colonialism.

Many of the leaders had warm words for Moscow’s record of support for their countries in their 20th-century liberation struggles, and the final declaration promised Russia would help them seek compensation for the damage done by colonial rule and secure the restoration of plundered cultural treasures.

The leaders of Mali and Central African Republic, whose governments have relied heavily on the services of Russia’s Wagner mercenary group, both expressed gratitude to Putin.

President Faustin Archange Touadera said CAR’s relations with Russia had helped it to save its democracy and avoid a civil war, thanking Russia “for helping us to oppose foreign hegemony”. – Reuters

Mnangagwa taunts accusers over ban on poll opponents, calls them uneducated

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has issued a disdainful rebuke on those accusing him of masterminding court generated disqualifications on election opponents, describing them as uneducated.

This follows the shock ban on independent presidential candidate Saviour Kasukuwere and 12 CCC Bulawayo parliamentary candidates by the courts this week.

Kasukuwere was Friday disqualified by the Supreme Court which upheld an earlier High Court ruling in favour of Zanu PF activist Lovedale Mangwana.

Mangwana, in his challenge, had argued the exiled politician did not qualify to contest for any electable public office in the land as he surrendered the right through being absent from the country for a continuous period of 18 months.

Kasukuwere, once a close ally to former President Robert Mugabe, was hounded out of the country in November 2017 after the Zimbabwe military which backed Mnangagwa’s succession bid, ousted the now late leader and installed the tough ruler in his place.

CCC candidates were also blocked by the Bulawayo High Court after some Zanu PF activists argued they violated provisions of the electoral law through filing their nomination papers beyond the stipulated deadline of 4pm June this year.

Kasukuwere, the one-time Zanu PF political commissar seen as a potential banana skin in the incumbent’s re-election bid, has blamed Mnangagwa for his ouster.

Equally, CCC has accused the Zimbabwe strongman of capturing the judiciary through a combination of enticing perks comprising hefty home loans and sacking judges viewed inflexible to political manipulation.

CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere on Thursday described the current administration as worse than that of Mugabe who “never tried to brazenly remove opponents he knew he would lose against from the ballot”.

Asked to comment on the accusations, Mnangagwa said he has never been to the courts to file any challenge against opponents.

“Those who claim that I am using the courts to thwart my opponents should go and collect back their school fees from wherever they went to school, because I have never taken anyone to court and I am nowhere in any court process.

“If they make such allegations, it shows they don’t have much education,” Mnangagwa said at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe Airport as he returned from Russia.

THE PF PARTY MEMBERS THAT ARE CALLING FOR THE RETURN OF ECL ARE BEHAVING LIKE THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW BAD THEIR LEADERS GOVERNED THIS COUNTRY …***

By Stembridge Sikalundu

Zambians can not and will never forget how PF leaders and their members governed this country after 2015 , they are pretending to be very innocent and humble when you see them appealing to the people of zambia when they are in opposition , they think zambians lIved in heaven during the reigns of ECL because of their members enjoying at the time .

It is sad to see ECL personally ignoring the trends of his leadership style in this country which haunted many people ,I personally followed how ECL reacted when zambians were being gassed with instruments of power on his shoulders , I recall how his ministers could not be investigated unless he authorised to do so , when you look at ECL today he appears not to have been president and unaware of how his appointees looted state resources , ECL addressed the people of zambia to join the PF party if they wanted to enjoy the benefits of this country , this is not too long ago to forget.

This country under ECL was a homeless to many zambians because of the divide and rule syndrome , when PF carders were killing members of the opposition , destroying properties , making people homeless ECL never said any single word to stop his followers from behaving like bandits , they are now telling him to contest elections because they have no wings , tell us when the bandits became angels ?. How much debt did ECL accrue which he left it unsustainable for the country requiring so much efforts to restructure which he failed himself , we can tell how many future generations are going to feel the affects , we can’t forget that his govt defaulted . The questionable properties which most of ECL’s appointees which are associated with proceeds of crimes against the state . ECL has a lot of bad reminders in the minds of many citizens in this country whose hearts are broken and still on the mending process .

What are the reasons which ECL is thinking
can make him president in Zambia again ? , someone must show the clips which his violent carders got into big buses at Intercity terminal laden with matchettes to attack citizens during by elections or any political activity which included funerals of the opposition then , and in whose interests will the zambians sink low to suggest the criminals that harassed zambians can have space in Zambia again to brutalise peaceful zambians because of ECL that was in power , ECL can not dominate in this country with the same force which awoke zambians up to change govt in 2021 .

If PF members have been to church to ask God for forgiveness ,they should not have thought zambians have forgibrutalise already in less than two years , the removal of the street vendors and the high cost of living can not be the reason to bring back the torn shoes which are not useful now because they have never been at all .

The PF are asking for development in two years from the UPND govt , they are the least to speak a word in this country because they deserve nothing from the people of zambia , but no one is marginalising them , they are beneficiaries to many policy benefits in this country since UPND forming govt , we don’t need to talk about what the UPND has done so far because most decisions are unprecedented in the history of this country ,we may be seen to fight worse comparisons , zambia has retained it’s dignity in the first place , we are proud to be called zambians and peacefully united we are under the UPND govt because we all have equal opportunities and citizenry freedoms , we earned our freedoms which are freely exercised by citizens including PF members who denied us. ECL may be a white angel to PF members but certainly a black one to the majority zambians that have every different bad story to tell about the ECL era which haunted the many . God bless mother Zambia.

Let Your Eyes Be Open: Beyond Arrests and Acquittals

WEEKLY REFLECTIONS WITH DR MWELWA

Let Your Eyes Be Open: Beyond Arrests and Acquittals

Have you ever wondered why the arrests are very dramatic and take the front pages of the state controlled newspapers but the acquittals are not covered at all?

In a world where information is readily available at our fingertips, it is important to question the narratives presented to us. Arrests may dominate the headlines, capturing our attention with their dramatic allure, but what about acquittals? Why do they often fade into the background, carried only by online bloggers?

Given Lubinda’s arrests was so dramatic and flooded the news space across Zambia newspapers, radio and television. However, they have gone quiet on his acquittal. Why?

The answer lies in the power of media influence and the agendas at play. State propaganda newspapers, driven by their own motivations, choose to prioritize certain stories over others. While arrests are deemed newsworthy, portraying a government’s vigilance in upholding law and order, acquittals are often neglected. They do not serve the preferred narrative, which seeks to maintain a sense of control and righteousness. Crucifying political opponents and denting their reputation. It’s abuse of the media for political gain.

But where does that leave us, the readers, hungry for a well-rounded understanding of reality? It leads us to question the impartiality of these propaganda wings and their editorial tone. Can we trust that they will present the full truth or merely cater to a predetermined agenda? It is time to let our eyes be open.

This government, like any other, is not immune to the art of manipulation and the tactics of war. By painting opposition members as lawbreakers, they create a narrative that conveniently overlooks any shortcomings or missteps on their side. It becomes a battle of perception, where the ruling party seeks to maintain a stronghold on righteousness, while vilifying those who dare to challenge them.

Take, for instance, the case of Koswe, a tool in the arsenal of a particular political party. Despite its potential contravention of the law, Koswe seems to be untouchable, shielded by its association with strong men of party. This begs the question: why is the law selectively enforced when it comes to political tools? If today I attempt to publish anything similar to the contents of Koswe, I would abducted to driven to the unknown.

In such a convoluted landscape, it is essential for individuals to foster a discerning mindset. Let our eyes be open to the subtle machinations that occur behind the scenes. Let us question the narratives presented by those in power and seek multiple perspectives. The truth lies beyond the headlines, in the deep recesses of untold stories, waiting for us to uncover them.

Arrests may capture our attention, but acquittals deserve equal scrutiny. They represent the checks and balances that protect our rights and ensure a fair justice system. By embracing critical thinking and open-mindedness, we can break free from the confines of biased propaganda and strive for a more holistic understanding.

So, let us embark on a quest for truth, armed with knowledge and an unwavering dedication to unraveling the complexities of our world. Only then can we hope to transcend the one-sided narratives and glimpse a more nuanced reality, where justice and fairness prevail over manipulation and political agenda.

PF Denies Allegations of Edgar Lungu’s Return to Politics: A Fact-Checked Account

In the recent past, rumors have been circulating in the political sphere about the potential return of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu to active politics. Several media outlets reported on these speculations, raising questions about the intentions of the Patriotic Front (PF) party and its leadership.

“PEOPLE WANT ME BACK IN 2026 AND I WILL COME AND ARREST HAKAINDE – LUNGU,” wrote Koswe, a Zambian Facebook page recently in a widely reacted post.

“Edgar Lungu back into active politics. This is stage managed ba Lungu, no one wants you back” posted another online platform called Zambia News Yatu Media in a Facebook video.

In an effort to verify these widely shared claims, Venus Media reached out to the Patriotic Front (PF) who dismissed the posts along with the rumors as “just mere allegations”.

Fact Check: Unsubstantiated Claims
Upon a thorough investigation, no concrete evidence or official statements have been found to support the claim of Edgar Lungu’s intention to return to politics. While various media sources have reported on the speculations, none have provided verifiable sources or direct quotes from Lungu or party representatives confirming his return.

Claim: PF Denies Lungu’s Return to Politics
Patriotic Front, the former ruling political party in Zambia, has addressed the rumors surrounding former President Edgar Lungu’s return to politics. Party member Chishimba Kambwili Venus Media’s Fact Checking team that there is no truth to the allegations.
“I’m not aware about that (the allegations), I think that is just an allegation,” confirmed Mr. Kambwili in an interview.

Conclusion:

After conducting a thorough fact-check, it has been established that the rumors surrounding Mr. Lungu’s return to politics lack substantiated evidence. The Patriotic Front has officially denied these allegations through their senior member. It is important to emphasize that, as of 26 July 2023, there is no verified indication that Mr. Edgar Lungu, the 6th Zambian president who unsuccessfully contested against 16 other presidential candidates including President Hakainde Hichilema who emerged victorious in the 2021 general elections has not made any suggestions of intending to make a political comeback. -Venus Publishers

THE PARALLEL BETWEEN MOBUTU AND HICHILEMA- Fred M’membe

Fred M’membe

THE PARALLEL BETWEEN MOBUTU AND HICHILEMA

We take note of Mr Hakainde Hichilema’s response through the Minister of Information and Media, Ms Chushi Kasanda, who also doubles as the Chief Government spokesperson, to our concerns regarding the current terrible state of Zambia’s foreign relations under Mr Hichilema’s far-right UPND government.

We have carefully studied Mr Hichilema’s reaction and realised that they are aliens to the discourse they are attempting to engage us in. To put it simply, they are at sea. They do not grasp the geopolitical standpoints informing the deep foreign relation matters we have been consistently raising.

A puppet regime or puppet government is a state that is de jure independent but de facto completely dependent upon an outside power and subject to its dictates, orders or desires. Puppet states have nominal sovereignty, except that a foreign power effectively exercises control through economic or military support. By leaving a local government in existence, the outside power evades all responsibility, while at the same time successfully paralysing the local government they tolerate.

Puppet states differ from allies, who choose their actions of their own initiative or in accordance with treaties they have voluntarily entered into. Puppet states are forced into legally endorsing actions already taken by a foreign power.

And so, this government is merely pretending to be saying something even when it is vividly clear that it does not comprehend, let alone subscribe to, our detailed and patriotic stance on these matters. But since they are liars and hypocrites, they are busy issuing statements whose contents they do not fathom and in response to matters which are totally beyond their grasp, just to save face. With due respect, Mr Hichilema’s reaction today, through Ms Kasanda, is actually nothing but mere words on paper – not to be taken literally.

That said, we want to make it categorically clear once more that Mr Hichilema is leading a far-right Western puppet regime and is delivering on his key commitments to the West and NOT to the Zambian people. He is a Western project. A front for the West to dominate us and loot our minerals and national wealth in the 21st Century.

Isn’t it odd that while Western countries are very happy with Mr Hichilema, who has created an enabling environment for foreign capital and individual accumulation of wealth for those who loot Africa’s minerals and national resources, the Zambian people are waking up to the higher prices of commodities everyday? And Mr Hichilema seems not to care about the poor living conditions of our people at all.

But our people must know that this is not a new thing in Africa, because we have had leaders like Mr Hichilema before, who mortgaged their countries for personal gain and glory. Our neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), formerly Zaire, for instance, was once led by Mobutu Sese Seko, a leader installed by the United States and the Belgians to serve Western interests in exchange for personal power, glory and other benefits.

Today, Mr Hichilema appears very clearly to be inspired by Mobutu in his zeal to please the West while dividing the country and choking the poor masses with his neo-colonialist puppet agenda. But the sad part of it all is that the losers will be the people of Zambia, much the same way as the people of the DRC were the losers under Mobutu. Mr Hichilema must know that the Mobutu approach to foreign relations and irresponsible handling of national wealth and state power has always ended with disastrous consequences and hugely negated development in countries that attempted to entrench this repulsive style of governance.

Few will forget Mr Hichilema’s excitement when he was summoned to the White House upon assuming office to meet, not Mr Joe Biden, but Kamala Harris, and in his excitement, he was not ashamed to tell the world how happy he was to be “the first to be invited to the White House” (even though this was not true as Mobutu and other puppets had been there before him). We do not know how many times Africa’s founding fathers turned in their graves to see a reincarnation of Mobutu in an era when leaders should know better than being a puppet of the West.

Mr Hichilema must know that owing to his puppeteering and foreign policy inconsistencies, Zambia is currently standing out on the continent as a bastion of diplomatic treachery, transnational corporations and Western interests, a situation which is getting the country increasingly isolated both in the sub-region and across the African continent. If nobody has told him this, let him hear it from us that Zambia no longer commands the respect and admiration it once had on the continent and globally. We stand discredited and unnoticed due to this government’s treachery and prostitution on key foreign policy matters. We have shamelessly abandoned our non-aligned position on global affairs, a policy that gained Zambia global recognition, support and respect – and we expect our traditional allies to look at us the same way?

Even back at home, the situation is the same. Mr Hichilema’s commitment to serve the West and transnational corporations has distanced him from the masses who elected him, but who are left to scavenge for a living while he assists his Western masters to sustain their hegemony.

If indeed, Mr Hichilema and his far-right UPND government prioritises transparency and sovereignty throughout its decision-making process, as claimed by Ms Kasanda, we challenge them to make the AFRICOM office agreement public. If not, let them stop lying to our people and violating our territorial integrity and sovereignty through reckless decisions like allowing the US to be hovering and patrolling our country like a chosen race of prefects via AFRICOM.

THE HUMILITY AND SELFLESSNESS OF MACKY 2, IS INSPIRING

THE HUMILITY AND SELFLESSNESS OF MACKY 2, IS INSPIRING

By EEP President Chilufya Tayali

Somehow, I am close to Roma Girls Secondary School (I love the school for some reasons, which I will disclose in one of my books yet to be written), so I came to know about an event that they were going to have on 21st July.

22nd July is a special day for Roma girls, because it is an anniversary for Mary Aikenhead (19 January 1787 – 22 July 1858) who is the founder of the Religious Sisters of Charity. These Sisters are the ones that runs Roma Girls Secondary School.

To celebrate the day, (22nd July) the school decided to have some social activities, as well as raise some money to finish some classrooms being built, on Friday, 21st July.

Among the social activities, they wanted to invite one of the local artists to perform at the school. A few names of artists were floated and I was tasked to see who could be available.

My best guess was Macky 2 and I called him first. Without any hesitation he agreed.

“MweMfumu, tapali ubwafya, that’s what I do. I want to inspire young people, so I would be happy to perform for free.” said the humble artist.

I could not believe it and I was anxious;

“Did he mean it?”, “Will he show up?”, “What if…..” I wondered in anxiety.

A few days before 21st July, I called him to confirm and he assured me, he will be there.

True to his word, on 21st July, Macky 2 arrived at Roma Girls with his team and they entertained and inspired the pupils.

Out of anxiety, I stayed away, praying all goes well and it did.

The teachers and the Headmistress were amazed with everything about him. “Such a humble young man.” commented the Headmistress.

Nothing was paid to Macky 2 but everyone is very grateful for his performance and inspiring mentorship message he gave to the girls.

It has been a week since he performed and I am here to say, thank-you very much, on my own behalf and that of the Roma Girls (Parents, Teachers and the pupils).

Surely, there are not many artists, especially at the top level of Macky 2, who are as humble, selfless and inspiring as Mr. Mulaza Kaira (his real name).

Actually, Macky 2, is behind the success of many artists and songs, but you would rarely hear him claim the credit.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU, YOUR TEAM AND FAMILY

COURT DISCHARGES LUBINDA OF BREACHING PARLIAMENTARY PRIVILEGES

COURT DISCHARGES LUBINDA OF BREACHING PARLIAMENTARY PRIVILEGES

THE Lusaka magistrates’ Court has discharged former minister of justice Given Lubinda on a charge of breaching parliamentary privileges.

Magistrate Trevor Kasanda said Lubinda was not taken to Court on time after he flouted parliamentary rules.

Lubinda was facing one count of failure to appear before the parliamentary committee or assembly contrary to Section 11(a) of the National Assembly Act (Powers and Privileges) Chapter 12 of the Laws of Zambia as read with Amendment Act No. 13 of 2016 of the Laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that Lubinda between December 18, 2021 and June 14, 2022, being a person summoned by the Committee on Privileges and Absences of the Zambian National Assembly, failed to appear before the National Assembly when summoned to do so, without reasonable cause at the time and place specified in the summons.

Lubinda had asked the Court to free him on reasons that the period in which he was supposed to be tried has elapsed.

He said Section 219 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) limits the time within which offences that border on breaching parliamentary privileges can be taken to court.

Ruling on the matter magistrate Kasanda said any offence that attracts a fine and a maximum sentence of three months is supposed to be taken to Court within 12 months.

He said the Subordinate Court cannot assume authority to deal with the matter after the period has elapsed but the same does not apply to superior courts.

“This court cannot do anything in accordance with Section 219 of the CPC I have not been satisfied by the State’s behavior of bringing this matter to court late,” magistrate Kasanda said.

He said the delay is a dereliction of duty on the part of the State.

Magistrate Kasanda that in future the State should see to it that they take such matters to Court on time.

“Based on the foregoing I therefore discharge the accused,” said magistrate Kasanda.

Despite receiving the news of his discharge with smiles Lubinda expressed dismay claiming he was deprived of an opportunity to educate the public on parliamentary system.

“Today I have been discharged by the Subordinate Court however this does not give me any joy at all, actually it has denied me the opportunity to do what I wanted to do,”he said.

Lubinda admonished the speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti for suppressing political commentators who give a review on parliamentary affairs.

“The tendency of guaging debate by the opposition members of parliament is wrong. And now you have even extended this to try and gag members of the public from commenting on matters that are in parliament, that in itself is totally unacceptable. For you madam Nelly Mutti to think that you can have members of the public imprisoned because of what they say about you as a person is wrong,”Lubinda said.

He charged that the speaker was not faultless for her to be reactive to criticism.

“When a person insults the institution of parliament that’s different but when a person comments on your conduct that is different you are a human being, you are fallible like any human being there’s no person in this country who’s beyond reproach not even yourself! not even the President!,” Lubinda charged.

“How many people have commented on the Head of State? how many people have told the Head of State that he’s wrong what is so special about you holding the position of speaker ? Who do you think you are that members of the public must not comment on your conduct?”

He said Mutti should keep her conduct in check as she is not the last person to lead the legislative branch.

“Madam Nelly Mutti please come down to earth that position you hold many people have held it before and I can tell you I will repeat what I said again if you want cite me but I am telling you all the years I have lived on this earth, all the time I have been following parliamentarism in Zambia I want to say that this is the worst period that we have seen were opposition members of parliament are told to sit down, to shut up and so on this is the worst time,” he said.

He advised the speaker to be courteous to opposition members of parliament like her predecessors did in the past.

“That institution is not yours madam Nelly Mutti, it is for the Zambian people and you must be willing to be told off when you go wrong, don’t think you are omnipotent because your are not!,”lubinda said.

“So am happy that I have been discharged but if Nelly Mutti wants she can also indict me again so that we go and meet in Court because am very ready for this because the Zambian people must be given the freedom to express themselves.”

The former PF Kabwata member of parliament said the green family will not accept to be subdued.

“We (PF) will not allow that one person in the name of the speaker, she must be listening to what the public are saying about her and when they say things she doesn’t like she must take them to prison no we shall not allow that,” said Lubinda

“PF will not allow that we shall stand up to defend the freedom of expression our forefathers fought for, they paid with blood Madam Nelly rember that.”

Retirees To Be Paid 3 Months After Retiring

0

In a bid to address the longstanding issue of delayed retirement payments, President Hakainde Hichilema has declared that retirees will now receive their terminal benefits just three months after they retire. The move is aimed at reducing the backlog of retirees who have been waiting for their dues for several decades. President Hichilema made the announcement during a meeting with Bishops from the Anglican Church at State House.

During the meeting, President Hichilema expressed his government’s commitment to resolving the plight of retirees who had endured years of uncertainty and financial strain due to delayed payments. He disclosed that his administration had already cleared the pending retirement benefits for the majority of retirees who had been waiting for up to 20 years.

Additionally, the Zambian President unveiled plans to implement a Credit Window, offering citizens access to credit with interest rates below commercial levels, especially designed to support businesses. The Credit Window initiative is expected to provide significant benefits for the agricultural sector, enabling farmers to plant crops twice a year, which, in turn, would lead to increased yields.

President Hichilema emphasized that the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP) had encountered challenges as some individuals took advantage of the system, accessing fertilizers meant for farming and subsequently selling them for personal gain without engaging in any agricultural activities. The new Credit Window is intended to offer farmers better access to financial resources for their agricultural needs and curb the misuse of agricultural support programs.

The announcement of the Credit Window has been met with enthusiasm from various agricultural stakeholders, as it is anticipated to have a positive impact on the productivity and livelihoods of farmers across the country.

Meanwhile, during the meeting with the Anglican Church representatives, Archbishop Albert Chama of the Central African Province praised the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for its transformative role in empowering communities. He commended the initiative, stating that it allowed people to decide on development projects according to their specific needs and priorities.

However, the Archbishop also expressed concerns about the National Health Insurance Scheme Authority (NHIMA), noting that the coverage provided did not include all illnesses. He urged the government to extend NHIMA’s coverage to include a broader range of medical conditions, as many Zambians could not afford treatment in private health facilities.

President Hichilema assured the Anglican Church representatives that his government would take their concerns into serious consideration and strive to make improvements in the country’s healthcare system to ensure better access to medical services for all citizens.

‘His package was ‘long and skinny, like a ruler’ – Australian model shares intimate details about the night she allegedly spent with rapper Kanye West

0

A former Aussie model has shared intimate details about the night she allegedly spent with Kanye West at his hotel room Down Under many years ago.

The woman, named Lily, called into the Will and Woody show on KIIS FM this week to spill it all.

Lily alleged the rendezvous took place many years before his relationship with ex-wife Kim Kardashian and while he was on tour with Nas.

Lily claimed she met artist Kanye at the Chasers Nightclub while she was on a date with another man but she went back with Kanye to his room at the Park Hyatt.

Lily said she was in her twenties at the time, she’s 37 now, and the pair both got ‘naked’ before he eventually fell asleep. It’s believed Kanye was single at the time.

When asked about his penis size, she said his package was ‘long and skinny, like a ruler’.

‘Imagine a ruler you use at school. So long and skinny so not very nice. The girls will know what I’m talking about,’ she said with a laugh.

‘We all went to the Park Hyatt where they must’ve been staying and everyone kind of just went off to their rooms and it was just Kanye and I and we were chilling, having a conversation on the bed and then he fell asleep on me.’

‘He was trying to get on with it, but I think I was in two minds still because I was living with the guy that I was on a date with because we were roommates and then we started dating,’ she claimed.

‘We were just lying there, and he just started snoring and I was like okay this is my cue that I’m doing the wrong thing, so I got my clothes back on, I had my clothes off at that stage.’

‘We were on top of the sheets but there weren’t many clothes happening,’ she claimed.

She claimed before going back to his hotel Kanye put his number in her phone and ‘asked if I would come on tour with him around Australia’.

However, after their night together she said she didn’t have any contact with Kanye again.

Reflecting on what Kanye was like as a person, she said: ‘Everyone said he was a pk, and he had the reputation of being a real ahole, but he was actually lovely, so sweet, sang Love Lockdown to me acapella. It was beautiful.’

Kanye toured Australia with Nas back in 2008. It’s believed he was single at the time.

The All of the Lights hitmaker, 46, went on to date Amber Rose from 2008-2010 before marrying ex-wife Kim in 2014, whom he shares four children with.

US woman, Carlee Russell is charged with faking her own abduction

0

An American woman has been charged with faking her own abduction after handing herself in to the police.

Carlee Russell has been charged with two misdemeanor charges of filing a false report. She now faces up to two years in jail and $12,000 in fines. She was released from jail today after posting a $2,000 bond.

Russell, 25, was driving home from work in Hoover, Alabama, on July 13 when she called 911 claiming she’d seen a toddler in a diaper on the side of the road.

US woman, Carlee Russell is charged with faking her own abduction
She then called her brother’s girlfriend, claiming the same sight, and screamed down the phone.

She wasn’t seen again for two days, then turned up at her parent’s house with a cut lip and a tall tale about having been snatched by a man with orange hair who held her captive for two days before she managed to somehow escape.

Hoover Police then revealed the spa therapist’s incriminating Google search history that included the terms ‘do you have to pay for an Amber alert’ and research on the movie Taken.

A sheepish Russell went quiet, then admitted via her attorney to making the entire story up.

Today, Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis announced criminal charges against her.

The Russell family lives in a $800,000 house and hold steady jobs – her mother is a realtor and her father is a VP at a bank.

Quite why the spa therapist made up her story remains unclear.
There were rumors she was trying to win back the attention of her boyfriend, from whom she’d recently split, when she staged the hoax.

The boyfriend frantically appealed for information when she was missing then quickly distanced himself from her when her story started to crumble.

Now, there are also questions over whether she will have to repay the $100,000 that was spent in the search for her.

Russell’s parents are yet to comment on her arrest and she is yet to explain why she lied.

In a statement, her attorney said: ‘My client has given me permission to make the following statement on her behalf:

US woman, Carlee Russell is charged with faking her own abduction
‘There was no kidnapping on July 13, 2023. My client did not see a baby on the side of the road. My client did not leave the Hoover area when she was identified as a missing person. My client did not have any help in this incident, but this was a single act done by herself.

‘My client was not with anyone or at any hotel during the time she was missing.

‘My client apologizes for her actions to the community, the volunteers who were searching for her, to the Hoover Police Department and other agencies, as well as to her friends and family.

‘We ask for your prayers for Carlee as she addresses her issues and intends to move understanding that she made a mistake.
‘Carlee again asks for your forgiveness and prayers.’

‘They have got rid of the Western colonisers’- Wagner boss Prigozhin hails Niger coup, offers his services to ‘maintain order’

0

Wagner mercenary boss, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who remains publicly visible despite leading a failed mutiny against the Russian army’s leadership last month, has hailed Niger’s military coup saying his his fighters’ services can bring order to the West African nation.

A voice message by Prigozhin on Telegram app channels associated with Wagner did not claim involvement in the coup, but described it as a moment of overdue liberation from Western colonisers .

“What happened in Niger is nothing other than the struggle of the people of Niger with their colonisers. With colonisers who are trying to foist their rules of life on them and their conditions and keep them in the state that Africa was in hundreds of years ago,” said the message, posted on Friday, Julyb28.

“Today this is effectively gaining their independence. The rest will without doubt depend on the citizens of Niger and how effective governance will be, but the main thing is this: they have got rid of the colonisers,” the message said.

Prigozhin, in his voice message, boasted of Wagner’s alleged efficiency in helping African nations stabilise and develop in what sounded like a sales pitch.

“Thousands of Wagner fighters are capable of bringing order and of destroying terrorists and of not allowing them to harm the local populations of these states,” he said.

As at press time it is still unclear who is in charge of Niger after soldiers on Wednesday evening declared a military coup and held President Mohamed Bazoum in the presidential palace.

Then on Friday, Abdourahmane Tchiani, head of Niger’s presidential guard, named himself head of a transitional government in Niger, two days after his guards detained and overthrew democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum.

The country declared full independence from former colonial ruler, France in 1960.

The voice message was the latest sign that Prigozhin and his men remain active in Africa, where they still have security contracts in some countries like Central African Republic (CAR), and are keen to expand.

Prigozhin, 62, appears to continue to enjoy freedom of movement despite a a deal with Putin that would see him relocate to neighbouring Belarus where some of his men have already started training the army.

He was heard in a video released earlier this month telling his men in Belarus that they should gather their strength for a “new journey to Africa.”

Donald Trump accused of asking Staffer To delete Camera Footage in Florida Classified Documents Case

Former US President Donald Trump faced new charges Thursday, July 27 in a case accusing him of illegally possessing classified documents, with prosecutors alleging that he asked a staffer to delete camera footage at his Florida estate in an effort to obstruct a federal investigation into the records.

The indictment includes new counts of obstruction and willful retention of national defense information, adding fresh detail to an indictment issued last month against Trump and a close aide. The additional charges came as a surprise at a time of escalating anticipation of a possible additional indictment in Washington over his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

The updated allegations make clear the vast scope of legal exposure faced by Trump as he seeks to reclaim the White House in 2024 while fending off criminal cases in multiple cities.

The new allegations from special counsel Jack Smith center on surveillance footage at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, evidence that has long been vital to the case. Trump is alleged to have asked for the footage to be deleted after FBI and Justice Department investigators visited in June 2022 to collect classified documents he took with him after leaving the White House. The new indictment also charges him with illegally holding onto a document he’s alleged to have shown off to visitors in New Jersey.

A Trump spokesperson dismissed the new charges as “nothing more than a continued desperate and flailing attempt” by the Biden administration “to harass President Trump and those around him” and to influence the 2024 presidential race.

Prosecutors accuse Trump of scheming with his valet, Walt Nauta, and a Mar-a-Lago property manager, Carlos De Oliveira, to conceal the footage from federal investigators after they issued a subpoena for it. Video from the property would ultimately play a significant role in the investigation because, prosecutors said, it captured Nauta moving boxes of documents in and out of a storage room — including one such incident a day before a Justice Department visit to the property.

According to the indictment, Nauta met with De Oliveira on June 25, 2022, at Mar-a-Lago, where they went to a security guard booth where surveillance video was displayed on monitors and walked with a flashlight through a tunnel where the storage room was located, observing and pointing out surveillance cameras.

Two days later, according to the indictment, De Oliveira walked with an unidentified Trump employee to an audio room, where De Oliveira asked how many days the server retained footage.

De Oliveira, prosecutors said, told the other employee “that ‘the boss’ wanted the server deleted” and asked, “What are we going to do?”

During a voluntary interview with the FBI last January, prosecutors say, De Oliveira lied when he said he “never saw nothing” about boxes at Mar-a-Lago.

De Oliveira was added to the indictment, charged with obstruction and false statements related to an interview he gave the FBI earlier this year. His lawyer declined to comment Thursday evening.

The new charges were filed as Trump is bracing for the prospect of an additional indictment related to his efforts to undo the 2020 election in the run-up to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. Last week, he revealed he had received a letter from the Justice Department informing him he was a target in that probe, suggesting that charges could be forthcoming, and his lawyers met with prosecutors in Smith’s office earlier Thursday to discuss that case.

Niger’s army general Tchiani takes charge after coup against President

0

Gen Abdourahmane Tchiani has declared himself the new leader of Niger after a dramatic coup.

Also known as Omar Tchiani, he staged a takeover which started on Wednesday when the presidential guards unit he led seized the country’s leader.

This shatters Niger’s first peaceful and democratic transition since independence in 1960.

President Mohamed Bazoum is thought to be in good health, and still held captive by his own guards.

He had been considered a key ally by Western nations in the fight against Islamist militants in the region.

The coup has been roundly condemned by international bodies including the African Union, West African regional bloc (Ecowas), the EU and the UN.

However, the leader of Russia’s Wagner mercenary group has reportedly praised the coup, describing it as a triumph.

“What happened in Niger is nothing other than the struggle of the people of Niger with their colonisers,” Yevgeny Prigozhin was quoted as saying on a Wagner-affiliated Telegram channel.

The BBC has not been able to verify the authenticity of his reported comments.

Gen Tchiani, 62, has been in charge of the presidential guard since 2011 and was promoted to the rank of general in 2018 by former President Mahamadou Issoufou.

He had also been linked to a 2015 coup attempt against the ex-president, but appeared in court to deny it.

Speaking in a televised address, Gen Tchiani said his junta took over because of several problems in Niger, including insecurity, economic woes and corruption, amongst other matters.

Niger’s coup is the latest in a wave of takeovers that have hit the West African region in recent years, toppling governments in countries including Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso.

It also comes as a big blow to the leadership of Ecowas. Just two weeks ago, the bloc’s chairman, President Bola Tinubu, warned that terrorism and the emerging pattern of coups in West Africa had reached alarming levels and demanded urgent, concerted actions.

There are now concerns about which countries the new leader will align with. Niger’s neighbours, Burkina Faso and Mali, have both pivoted towards Moscow since recent coups of their own.

Sadio Mane has Joined Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr

0

Liverpool legend Sadio Mane looks set to sign for Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr from Bayern Munich this summer, after agreeing personal terms.

Mane has now verbally approved the terms of an improved offer submitted by the PIF-backed Riyadh side, according to journalist Rudy Galetti.

The runner-up in the 2022 Ballon d’Or looks to be the next big name making the move to the Middle East, and will line up alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Seko Fofana for Al Nassr if the transfer is completed.

Galetti claims that Bayern have given ‘verbal approval’ for the move, while the parties will now meet to ‘finalise the deal’.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has called ‘here we go’ on the transfer.

A switch to the Saudi capital comes just one year on from his Anfield departure, with Mane bringing an end to his illustrious six-year stay on Merseyside in order to sign for German champions Bayern Munich.

However, the 31-year-old’s time in Germany has left a lot to be desired.

Mane suffered a fibula injury last November that sidelined him for three months, and following his return, was unable to meet the standards he has set for himself over recent years.

The Senegalese captain played just 38 games in Bayern’s Bundesliga winning campaign, scoring 12 times.

Mane was also involved in a confrontation with teammate Leroy Sane after Bayern’s quarter-final first leg meeting with Manchester City in April, a bust-up that seemed to shatter a number of his relations with members of the squad.

He was reported to have hit Sane in the face, and despite an apology soon after, this incident came to define Mane’s 2022/23 campaign and increase the likelihood of a departure from the German capital this summer.

Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel is reportedly also looking at adding more firepower to his side, with Harry Kane heavily linked.

Mane will find several familiar faces in the Saudi Arabia next season, with Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson already completing moves to the Pro League, while Fabinho’s £40m transfer appears imminent.

THE PRICELESS CASE OF THE OWL – SEEING IN THE DARK
[Why the UPND will fail]

There is no secret under the sun. In time, everything is exposed.

For years, the UPND has been a Western project.

To use political power for the spread of liberalism and for resource control has been its mission

The reason Hakainde HICHILEMA will NOT relocate to State House is that Community House, his house, is now the local command post for this private sector driven project.

The UPND will fail.

This is so because it is primarily an instrument for the actualisation of foreign interests.

It does NOT have the collective spirit of ordinary people behind it.

Entrepreneurship prospers.

For instance, Kachasu brewers and street vendors all are types of SMEs.

Anyone or any government against them exhibits idiocy, anyone or government which harasses them, is against prosperity.

All they require is policy support and strategic regulation.

Besides it being a platform for the assertion of ethnic pride, the UPND is a special purpose vehicle for Western accumulation, and defrauding citizens.

It explains why FQM hired covert operatives and spent millions of pounds to take out ECL and install Hakainde HICHILEMA.

The cover used for this targeted investment for regime change were elections and the people of Zambia.

There is no nationalism in the UPND.

How else do you explain Zambia’s Cabinet marketing FNB and promoting its growth and NOT ZANACO?

Many of Zambia’s Cabinet ministers are at sea, in the dark, they are not quite aware of exactly what is going on.

Barring a change of course, Zambia’s economy will not prosper.

And Zambia’s poverty will remain.

There is NOT a single county in the world that has developed through private sector initiatives alone, without State guidance and economic involvement.

Zambia might do well to learn from the economic model of Sweden, itself a Western country.

Zambia has now become one big holding corporate entity for private securities.

Our Republican President is merely its front.

Hakainde HICHILEMA is in office but NOT in power.

Aluta continua!
________ S

HICHILEMA MUST REVIEW POLICE SALARIES- Fred M’membe

HICHILEMA MUST REVIEW POLICE SALARIES

Mr Hakainde Hichilema and his far- right UPND government must urgently review the remuneration and conditions of service for Zambia Police Service officers and staff.

We have made this demand in response to the frequent appeals and complaints our party leadership and structures countrywide have been receiving regarding this matter, which we strongly feel is long overdue.

And going by the appeals and complaints, we have received so far, it is very clear that this matter is yet another unfulfilled campaign promise because the expectation was that after Mr Hichilema’s 2021 elections victory, there would be some kind of gradual progression towards prioritising and attending to the numerous hardships facing our police officers and staff.

But this has not been the case and this is not right. That is why we are demanding that Mr Hichilema and his government to immediately initiate a comprehensive review in the manner the police officers and staff are remunerated. And this review of remuneration and conditions of service must be aligned with the challenges and demands of modern policing.

Police officers and staff are an integral part of our national defence and security apparatus. For this reason, it is necessary that this far- right UPND government urgently looks into their plight by providing and caring for them. Our police deserve to be adequately and fairly remunerated in order for them to account for their performance and general conduct satisfactorily.

Further, policing has become a highly sophisticated career, which requires extensive knowledge and skills in the discharge of duties. That is why we urge Mr Hichilema and his league to invest in capacity building programmes, skills training and career development for the police to guarantee a higher level of competence that will be fit for purpose in the 21st century.

Our assurance to the gallant police officers and staff is that if this government does not respond favourably to the issues raised above, we shall implement these plans upon assuming office because our main goal is to modernise the police service by bridging the existing remuneration as well as training and career development gaps.

This is so much of a priority to us because we want to ensure that the nation is assisted by a highly motivated and flexible police service that is determined and strong enough to reach its full potential. So let our police officers and staff know that tuli bantu babo and we are resolved to reward their tireless effort and sacrifice for the motherland to enable them provide a better service for all Zambians.

President Hichilema and the Rogue Media at State House

..Mr. President, Koswe has become such a monster that you have even allowed it to toy with Zambia’s national peace and security…

By Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

Koswe, a known rogue media run by State House media team, has run dangerous and defamatory articles against the Zambia Army Commander, Lieutenant General Dennis Sitali Alibuzwi and Socialist Party President, Dr. Fred Mmembe, literally accusing them of treason and conspiracy.

Later, the Army Commander has been relegated to the position of Vice Chairperson of the Central Joint Operations Committee (CJOC), a highly irregular move.

Minister of Defence,Ambrose Lufuma said the Chairmanship of the CJOC has since been taken by Director General of the Zambia Security and Intelligence Services, Mr. Friday Nyambe.

It is irrefutable that Koswe is run by State House and this has been publicly asserted by many including those close to the team. The question is why does President Hakainde Hichilema allow this?

The rogue media defames, insults, abuses, and destroys lives of his own officials, relentlessly engages in character assassination of members of the Opposition and citizens, and this is done without remedial or recourse to the law.

Koswe instigates dismissals, prevents employment of successful candidates, incites arrests and encourages hate speech against Citizens.

Reporting Koswe to authorities is useless as both Police or ZICTA can never act against a State House entity.

No one has been spared from the character assasinations, lies and defamatory attacks including President Hichilema’s own Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and especially members of the Opposition.

When the online paper attacked and ran defamatory and dangerous allegations against State House Permanent Secretary Oliver Kalabo in December 2021, it had to take his own spouse and long-time senior member of the UPND media team, Jacqueline Saidi Chishimba to go to her Facebook page and call out and name the Koswe editors for them to stop the rot on her husband.

A few weeks ago, the rogue paper ran articles against Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary, Chembo Mbula and it didn’t take long, he was quickly transferred!

That has been the case of many silent victims.

It is now clear that President Hichilema allows and feeds Koswe, using it and unleashing it as an attack and rabid dog against harpless Citizens.

President Hichilema is now the Republican President and he cannot allow the abuse of the law, and the abuse of citizens. It could have been excusable when he was in Opposition to run guerrilla journalism but he is now President, sworn to defend the Constitution and sworn to defend the rights of all citizens.

Mr. President, Koswe, a monster you have been feeding, is now NOT even afraid to toy with Zambia’s national peace and security. For how do you allow the attacks on your own Army Commander and the subsequent changes you have since made?

Throwing Out The Baby With The Bath Water – The Case Of The Ministry Of National Guidance And Religious Affairs- Chishala Kateka

THROWING OUT THE BABY WITH THE BATH WATER – THE CASE OF THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL GUIDANCE AND RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS

28th July 2023

Parliament debated a motion brought to the floor to request Government to re-introduce the Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs.

This motion was defeated 49:79 votes.

Of course Government had indicated that the Ministry was scrapped due to the fact that it did not serve any specific role requiring a Ministry.

Listening to the debate in Parliament yesterday was rather concerning.

The main reason for voting against the motion was that the Ministry was run by a Minister that did not do the right thing, a Minister that did not speak when ills were being perpetrated etc. by the last Government.

This is a very defective thinking not founded on any principle. Decisions always ought to be made based on principle.

If a previous President does not do a good job while in office, do you then scrap position of President? Making emotional decisions will not help us to get to where we ought to be.

The decision must be made solely on the basis that the position is necessary, or not, to our corporate vision as a country.

Having said that, we give the following as the New Heritage Party position on this matter. Bear with us and read to the end.

Every society needs a moral/spiritual compass.

This is a set of commonly held or shared values against which an individual or group within that society can be held accountable to, in terms of conduct.

It is also a standard or a guide by which rules and regulations are set for the governance of that society, so that any new law passed by Parliament that does not conform or is contrary to the standard/guide already set, can be rejected out rightly.

Every Nation needs to be governed on this shared philosophical or ideological base or framework within which the various competing ideas, or struggle for power, are to be harmoniously carried out.

With the diversity of beliefs that exist, there is need for rules and regulation that of necessity, point the citizenry to operating in that agreed upon philosophical or ideological framework, if not, the society will begin to disintegrate.

We currently have, in our Constitution, a requirement for the President to report on the National Values to Parliament.

Which Institution is responsible for these ‘Values’ to be actualised? Which Institution even ‘monitors’ the progress in this regard?

There then, of necessity, needs to be a Ministry in charge to provide that function of providing guidance to the nation. A national guidance that checks and ensures that we are aligning to our accepted national values. A Ministry of National Guidance is crucial to help shape public opinion, inform as regards culture, to educate the citizenry (e.g., do not litter), and in helping direct the nation with regard to the moral compass so that the moral sensibilities of society at large are safeguarded.

We could consider assigning this function to the Ministry of Information and call it ‘The Ministry of Information and National Guidance’.

National Guidance is not something new to Zambia. We had a Ministry of Information and National Guidance that was responsible for ensuring that media content – anything that was subject to mass communication – was or was not acceptable as weighed against the national standards set. . This was for harmonious co-existence within society.

With regard to the above therefore, the New Heritage Party is of the view that a Ministry of National Guidance is necessary for good governance and a harmonious society.

Zambia has need of well-defined values such as patriotism, integrity, truth, honesty, abiding to the rule of law etc. which can be inculcated into the citizenry, especially the younger generation, and ought to be overseen by such a Ministry.

It is important for national leaders to be giving guidance to the nation lest we have a situation of ‘there was no king in those days and each man did as he pleased’. What is the institution through which the Government currently gives the nation guidance?

With regard to the Religious Affairs, the New Heritage Party is of the view that the Church (Ecclessia) that was built by our Lord Jesus Christ ought to be in charge of spiritual matters. The Body of Christ needs to therefore take up its mandate. It is the role of the Church to disciple nations.

Chitotela Faces Arrest For Corruption Following Lifting Of Arrest Immunity

CHITOTELA FACES ARREST FOR CORRUPTION FOLLOWING LIFTING OF ARREST IMMUNITY

FORMER minister of housing and infrastructure Ronald Chitotela now faces arrest over his Ibex Hill house which law enforcement agencies suspect was harvested from corruption as the Economic and Financial Crimes Court has cancelled his immunity from prosecution.

The EFCC (High Court division) has declared that Chitotela’s exemption from prosecution for corruption by the Anti-graft body after he surrendered the house in exchange for freedom, has no legal effect.

The Anti-Corruption Commission had instituted proceedings to set aside the settlement agreement relating to cause no. CRIMP/28/2019 where he stood charged with nine corruption-related charges.

ACC wanted the immunity granted to Chitotela exempting him from prosecution to be set aside on grounds of misrepresentation and concealment of material facts.

Acting chief legal prosecutor Gloria Muyunda had submitted that Chitotela did not give the Commission correct information and surrender the real properties he acquired through corrupt activities as he gave up his partner’s house.

Muyunda said Chitotela’s wife Lillian Lufupa claimed ownership of the Ibex Hill house that was surrendered as part of the settlement agreement on reasons that she acquired and developed it from her employment earnings.

She submitted that Lillian demanded that the property be given back to her because it was acquired through legal means and that she had made substantial developments.

Chitotela argued that the ACC had failed to prove that the out of Court settlement entered into between them is liable to be set aside on the ground of misrepresentation and concealment of material facts.

The Pambashe constituency member of parliament had argued that the ACC has not particularised or produced evidence of misrepresentation.

High Court judge Susan Wanjelani, in delivering judgement on behalf judge Ann Ononuju and Mwanajiti Mabbolobbolo said it was illogical for Chitotela’s lawyers Andrew Kampamba Kombe and Benjamin Mwelwa to argue that the EFCC can ignore its earlier findings and deal with the same issue in an academic exercise of finding merits and demerits of the arguments relating to the setting aside of the immunity.

“We therefore find it otiose to go into detailed analysis or arguments over an agreement which was void ab initio,” judge Wanjelani said.

She stated that there in no evidence on record to prove that Chitotela entered into a bargain with the ACC and surrendered his house in Ibex Hill as part of the purported out of Court settlement which the wife claims legal ownership.

“We find that there is no valid out of Court Settlement to set aside as the said settlement agreement was void ab initio. However as the said settlement agreement was filed into Court, we proceed through the academic motions of setting it aside and hereby do so,” said judge Wanjelani.

She ordered the parties to bear their own costs and denied Chitotela leave to appeal.

MP Given Katuta remains defiant

Luapula’s Chiengi Member of Parliament Given Katuta has remained defiant following her release from police detention on bond after being arrested on allegations of assaulting a photo journalist Contrary to Section 247 of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Ms. Katuta was released after meeting bond conditions late on Tuesday.

Times of Zambia journalist Henry Chunza aged 41 of Minestone Ng’ombe Compound alleges that whilst on duty at parliament premises, he was commonly assaulted by Ms. Katuta as he took photos of her after she was suspended in Parliament recently.

Ms. Katuta is accused of screaming at Chunza, spitting in his face and manhandling him with the help of other Members of Parliament.

Speaking after her release from custody, Ms. Katuta described her detention as political and vowed that she won’t be silenced.

“Thank you so much for your support my followers and to those I have seen insulting me, I also thank you for the insults. And those insults have become my lotion. You can insult me; call me names because I am not the first one to be called those names. Archbishop Alick Banda was called names, Bishop Banda from the Pentecost was also insulted, and Apostle (Sunday) Sinyangwe was insulted. You can insult me, you can judge me. You can still call me anything but I will still hold on to my God,” she said in a video on her facebook page.

The Independent MP said she is being judged by the opinion of many UPND followers even before the case goes to court.

“This war is not about me and I have seen everything. Those insulting you are making me popular and people are asking who is this Given. We cannot be silenced even if they have me arrested. I mean convict me for five years, it is OK. Chiengi Constituency is not only the platform where I can voice out. Mandela was incarcerated for 27 years but his voice never died,” Ms. Katuta said.

She continued:”There will be some people who will be saying there was a woman who was incarcerated, who was judged by the opinion of many UPND followers who went to the media houses to write things about her. Even the MISA, everyone was writing about me but it is well with my soul. So for your information I have learnt a lot from my incarceration. I have discovered that we have 31 people that have not been taken to court since February. What kind of justice is that in our country? I am very blessed and I feel honoured that at least I am part of this nation.”

UPND GOVERNMENT IS HIGHLY CORRUPT, UNSTABLE AND DIRECTIONLESS- Fred M’membe

UPND GOVERNMENT IS HIGHLY CORRUPT, UNSTABLE AND DIRECTIONLESS

Mr Hakainde Hichilema’s government is highly corrupt, unstable and directionless and our people must manage their expectations because nothing epic will arise out of this double-dealing far- right UPND regime.

We can say it without any hesitation that Mr Hichilema is leading the most corrupt, divisive and neo-colonialist puppet regime in the history of our nation. Simply put, Mr Hichilema and his league are agents of mining transnational corporations and the Brenthurst Foundation with the primary focus of keeping the indigenous suffering majority of our people to the extreme margins of economic structures and activities as they regain control of our mineral resources and national wealth.

Without a doubt, these are people who are unpatriotic to the nation and with no empathy whatsoever for the poor people on whose behalf they claim to govern. No wonder they can decide without reluctance to apply colonial administration methods of keeping the suffering indigenous people at the peripheries of the Central Business District of Lusaka without offering proper alternatives. They have no heart for the poor because Mr Hichilema and his league view the poor people of this nation as a nuisance.

Let us not forget that Mr Hichilema told our people so many lies and typical of his kind, instead of apologising for his deceit and manipulation, he has elected to pass the blame on the poor people, whose trust and confidence he has abused unsympathetically.

Going forward, our honest counsel to the Zambian people is to understand Mr Hichilema in the context that he is a brutally stubborn liar and manipulator with no clue on how to govern the country fairly, efficiently, effectively and in an orderly manner yet reluctant to follow advice. Zambians must know that the lies Mr Hichilema told before being elected into office; the lies he is telling today and the lies he will tell tomorrow are all done consciously and intentionally.

These lies are neither misstatements of fact nor regrettable errors. They are all part of Mr Hichilema’s grand scheme to “fabricate his own reality” and run with it as if there is nothing wrong or indecent about what he is doing. In Mr Hichilema’s mind, he owes nobody an honest discourse and promise later on an apology once caught lying.

It’s a shameless and unethical undertaking, which unfortunately, Mr Hichilema seems to have perfected and adopted as part of his persona over time but it will no longer work because Zambians are wide-awake to his deception and are resolute to put a stop to this corrupt, dishonest and manipulative regime. And Mr Hichilema and his far-right UPND government must know that we have launched a selfless struggle for the poor people of this nation and nothing will stand in our way. Pantu ubufi bwachila!
