Reggae music icon Jimmy Cliff has d!ed at the age of 81, his family said in a statement shared on social media.
“It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia,” Latifa Chambers said in a statement posted on Cliff’s Instagram account. “I am thankful for his family, friends, fellow artists and coworkers who have shared his journey with him. To all his fans around the world, please know that your support was his strength throughout his whole career … Jimmy, my darling, may you rest in peace. I will follow your wishes.”
The couple’s children Lilty and Aken also signed the statement.
He was best known for songs including “Many Rivers to Cross,” and “The Harder They Come,” the title song for the movie of the same name from 1972, which featured Cliff. The film’s soundtrack was a major international success and helped spread the appeal of Jamaican reggae.
Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness said in a statement: “His music lifted people through hard times, inspired generations, and helped to shape the global respect that Jamaican culture enjoys today.”
Born in Jamaica in 1944, Cliff scored his first local hit aged just 14 with “Hurricane Hattie” and would go on to win two Grammy awards and pick up seven nominations.
He was only one of two Jamaicans to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, alongside Bob Marley. He was inducted in 2010, with an introductory speech from Wyclef Jean.
An essay commemorating Cliff from writer Rob Bowman said that if he had done nothing but star in “The Harder They Come,” he would have merited inclusion.
Cliff was a foundational figure in the Jamaican reggae scene. He worked as an A&R man, discovering new talent for Beverley’s Records. This legendary label promoted ska, rocksteady, and eventually reggae, and played a role in the discovery of both Desmond Dekker and a young Bob Marley.
A former Canadian police sergeant has pleaded guilty to using a law enforcement database to pursue intimate relationships with around 30 women, including several victims of domestic violence.
53-year-old Robert Eric Semenchuck, a 22-year veteran of the Regina Police Service in Saskatchewan, Canada, pleaded guilty to one charge of breach of trust and one charge of unauthorized use of a computer on Friday, Nov. 21.
The police service claimed in March, when Semenchuck was charged, that the former sergeant had accessed protected information to find, contact and pursue relationships with women, some of whom had no idea he was a police officer.
According to women interviewed about the incident, Semenchuck allegedly would use an alias, including the names “Jay Lewis” or “Steve Perkins,” and send a text messages to the women saying that he was a contractor or project manager. The conversation would then turn into constant messaging over a lengthy period, sometimes years.
One woman identified as only “K” said she first received an unusual message while she was staying in a women’s shelter and was recovering from domestic abuse. She said that the text felt like a “lifeline” at a low moment, and they continued texting for four years, before she eventually began questioning him in 2023.
“I was like, ‘Do I really know this guy?’ ” she told The Globe and Mail.
She added that she ran a photo he had sent her through facial-recognition software, and it returned an image of Semenchuck with police gear.
“I can’t describe the feeling, everything that went through my head in that moment,” she said. “One of the first things that hit me was fear. Fear of this person, his power and what he could do.”
K then contacted police, which triggered an internal investigation that lasted for two years, according to the outlet.
Another woman, identified as simply “C” said that she received a message from a man calling himself “Steve” and they began a relationship that lasted for more than one year.
“I was 18 years trying to find someone, and I didn’t know how to go about it,” she told the outlet, recalling how “Steve” eventually became controlling and demanding in their conversations.
“He was s£x-crazed,” she said, describing how he consistently pressured her to send him explicit photos.
“How did he know who I was? Why did he choose me?” she questioned.
Semenchuck, who had been honored with policing awards over the course of his two-decade career, was charged in March 2025. At the time, then-Police Chief Farooq Sheikh said that he had resigned from the force effective April 21.
“We acknowledge that a police officer being charged can negatively impact trust and confidence, and I’m hoping that the community also recognizes our accountability and transparency here today,” Sheikh previously said.
Regina police has since announced new policies to ensure incidents like this can’t happen again. The policies now include an auditing process, additional training and a message that reminds anyone accessing the database that the information is only for investigative purposes.
A judge set Semenchuck’s sentencing date for Jan. 23.
As many as 20 victim impact statements are expected during the hearing.

In his complaint to SADC, Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba catalogued serious issues that accused President Hakainde Hichilema of engaging in the process of stealing the largest political party in Zambia using state instutions and the Judiciary, had passed draconian laws that took away freedom of expression of citizens, was engaged in passing amendments of the Constitution that will negatively impact the 2026 General elections, and was actively undermining the independence and autonomy of the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
In a letter responding to Amb. Mwamba, Ms Onalenna Nthase, Senior Secretary Directorate of the Organ on Politics Defence and Security Affairs, she stated that;
“The SADC Secretariat takes note of the concerns that you raised in the letter mentioned above, and of your readiness to travel to Gaborone, Republic of Botswana, to further make representations on the matter.”

MINISTER of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu, has opposed the proposed protest by the Catholic Church and other religious organisations against Bill No. 7.
Mr Mwiimbu said the path being pursued by certain church leaders risks undermining the sacred responsibility of the Church, adding that the planned protest will not unify the country.
In a statement, Mr Mwiimbu appealed to the leadership of the Roman Catholic Church and other faith-based organisations to reflect seriously on the matter.
“As a member of the Roman Catholic Church, I wish to categorically state my strong opposition to such actions. The Church, which I hold in high regard, is divinely mandated to be a unifier of people. Its mission is to foster dialogue, reconciliation and peace among citizens,” he said.
Mr Mwiimbu said the proposed protest will further polarise both the nation and the Church. “At a time when Zambia requires collective wisdom and unity, such divisive actions are regrettable and counterproductive,” he said.
The minister said the Church must remain a beacon of hope and dialogue, not a source of division, adding that Government has consistently engaged the Roman Catholic Church and other denominations on matters of national interest.
“As a Catholic, I have participated in a number of these dialogues between the Church and Government. These engagements have been constructive and demonstrate that dialogue remains the most effective path to resolving differences,” he said. Mr Mwiimbu said Government remains committed to safeguarding the rights of all citizens, including the freedoms of worship and expression.
“However, we urge our partners in the faith community to exercise these rights responsibly, in ways that promote unity and peace,” he said.

PRESIDENT HH MUST EXPEL BWEENGWA MP FOR SUPPORTING CADERISM
Patriotic Front (PF) Deputy Secretary General for Administration, Celestin Mukandila, has urged President Hakainde Hichilema to expel Bweengwa Member of Parliament, Kasautu Michelo, for publicly declaring that caderism was back in the political space.
Mr. Mukandila has described the statement as one of the contributing factors to the recent political violence witnessed in some parts of the country.
Speaking when he featured on Radio Christian Voice’s “Chatback” programme in Lusaka today, Mr. Mukandila said it is unfair for the Bweengwa lawmaker to make such pronouncements without any action taken by the President.
“As the President addresses the nation tomorrow on political violence, he must first expel the Bweengwa lawmaker who made these pronouncements,” said Mr. Mukandila.
He further argued that it will be difficult to tackle political violence when perpetrators and sponsors are not held accountable.
Mr. Mukandila has since called for impartiality in handling cases of political violence, adding that the police must not spare anyone based on political affiliation.

He said in moments of national significance such as amending the Republican Constitution, it is essential that all citizens are afforded the opportunity to participate meaningfully in decisions that shape the country’s collective future
“As you prepare to march and formally register your concerns regarding the hasty constitutional amendment process, please accept the CF’s full solidarity and support in this quest. Your resolve to uphold the principles of unity, due process, and transparent governance reflects a deep commitment to the nation’s democratic ethos,” the CF leader said.

” Your peaceful and coordinated action underscores the importance of consultation, accountability, and adherence to established procedures. We in the CF are committed to working with the Oasis Forum and all well meaning Zambians who understand that an illegality is an illegality and it does not matter what Mr. Hichilema says, Bill 7 was found to be an illegality and no amount of sanitization will change that,” he said.
Mr. Kalaba has since called on Zambians to stand together as a United front in safeguarding the values that binds the country together.
“May God bless Zambia and the men and women of character who have resolved to highlight the flaws in Mr. Hichilema’s flawed constitution making process. Let us stand united, proceed with clarity of purpose, and continue to champion the rule of law,” he said.

Justice Sichinga Seeks Constitutional Court Interpretation of Article 142 (6)
LUSAKA, Zambia – Former Court of Appeal Judge, Hon. Justice Dominic Yeta Sichinga, SC, has lodged an originating summons with the Constitutional Court of Zambia seeking an interpretation of Article 142 (6) of the Republican Constitution. The case, registered as 2025/CCZ/0030, raises essential questions concerning the constitutional criteria for judges accepting appointments to roles outside the Zambian Judiciary.
Justice Sichinga, represented by Messrs. Likando Kalaluka & Co., resigned from his position as Judge of the Court of Appeal on 31 March 2025, following his appointment as a Non-Resident Judge of the Seychelles Court of Appeal. In his affidavit, Justice Sichinga explained that his new role in Seychelles is not full-time and requires him to preside over cases only three times annually. However, he felt compelled to resign because of the provisions of Article 142 (6), which state: “Where a judge is appointed or assigned to an office, which is not an office in the Judiciary and that judge wishes to take up the appointment, the judge shall resign from the office of the judge.”
Justice Sichinga’s application highlights a perceived inconsistency in the application of Article 142 (6). He noted that several senior court judges in Zambia have accepted roles outside the judiciary, such as serving as Commissioners to the African Commission, Rapporteurs for the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, members of the SADC Administrative Tribunal, and lecturers at the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE), among others, without resigning from their judicial posts
The summons seeks clarity on whether Article 142 (6) requires resignation for judges accepting part-time or one-off appointments to roles outside the Zambian Judiciary. Justice Sichinga argues that the interpretation of this provision is of “fundamental constitutional importance,” given the resignations of judges like Lady Justice Nicola Sharpe-Phiri, who also stepped down from her position as a Judge of the Court of Appeal after accepting a similar appointment in Seychelles.
The affidavit further highlights the challenges faced by the Zambian Judiciary, including understaffing, as evidenced by recent recruitment advertisements and opposition from stakeholders such as the Legal Resources Foundation Limited, which has petitioned the court to challenge the constitutionality of the recruitment process.
Justice Sichinga’s legal team had previously written to the Attorney General, State Counsel Mullio Kabesha, seeking the State’s position on the interpretation of Article 142 (6).
The case is likely to have far-reaching consequences for the judiciary and the interpretation of constitutional provisions relating to judicial appointments. The Attorney General has 14 days to respond to the summons. The legal community and the public await the court’s ruling, which will set a precedent for future judicial appointments and resignations in Zambia.
This case underscores the importance of constitutional clarity in ensuring the effective functioning of the judiciary and maintaining public confidence in the legal system.
Hon. Mr. Justice Dominic Luther Yeta Sichinga, SC was appointed Judge of the Court of Appeal on 13th June, 2016. Justice Sichinga holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Anglia University in the United Kingdom. He was admitted to the bar in 1996. He was conferred with the rank and status of State Counsel in 2003.
Justice Sichinga served as Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications from 2009 to 2011 and as a Solicitor General of the Republic of Zambia from 2003 to 2009. He was appointed Judge of the High Court in 2011.
Justice Sichinga worked in the United States of America as Child Support Officer in the Office of the Attorney General of Texas from 1999 to 2003 and as Administrative Officer on the UN Kosovo Law Enforcement Project from 1998 to 1999. Justice Sichinga also served as Legal Consultant at the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) in 1998. Justice Sichinga served as Nascent Advocate at Budd Martin Burrett in the United Kingdom from 1992 to 1994.
Justice Sichinga served as Board Chairperson of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority in 2011, the National Airport Limited from 2009 to 2010, the Mpulungu Harbour Corporation Limited in 2009, the Contract Haulage Limited in 2009 and the Zambia Telecommunication Company Limited in 2009. He has also served as a member of several boards, commissions and committees.
Despite some parts of the Bible being well over 2,000 years old, as well as it being the most read text in history, scholars are always discovering new parts or new meanings from the book.
This included a ‘forgotten gospel’, which challenged the whole concept of Christianity itself.
When it comes to religion, we may all have our own interpretations of God, and what it means to follow that particular faith, but it’s almost universally accepted by Christians that Jesus is God himself, in human form.
Therefore, he should have been omnibenevolent, omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent, yet the latest finding certainly seems to contradict that.
Known as the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, the passage seems to be typical of the Bible at first, as it talks of some of the ridiculous feats that Jesus is said to have achieved, this time including bringing clay birds to life, drawing water from a broken pitcher and healing a boy whose leg was injured by an axe.
However, it also shows off a darker side to him in his younger days, which sees him curse a child to death for bumping into him, while he also blinds the parents of the young boy who accidentally strikes him.
This book is dated to when Jesus was said to be just five, while in the Bible, he is 12 at his youngest, and this particular passage depicts Joseph as angry with his son for his actions.
The passage, which was seemingly written by Thomas the Israelite, reads: “When Joseph saw that Jesus had done such a thing, he got angry and grabbed his ear and pulled very hard.
“The boy became infuriated with him and replied, ‘It’s one thing for you to seek and not find; it’s quite another for you to act this unwisely. Don’t you know that I don’t really belong to you? Don’t make me upset.”
It also sees the carpenter take Jesus to a teacher to learn the alphabet, but the teacher becomes frustrated after the son of God laughs at his instructions.
‘Hand him over to me, brother, and I shall teach him the Scripture; and I shall persuade him to bless all, and not to curse.
“And Jesus, hearing, laughed, and said to them: You say what you know; but I know more than you, for I am before the ages. And I know when your fathers’ fathers were born; and I know how many years of your life.”
Unsurprisingly, early church leaders were less than keen on having the text included in the Bible, given its depiction of Jesus as a violent and petulant child.
Three suicide attackers struck the Federal Constabulary headquarters in Peshawar, killing at least three security personnel and injuring civilians after one attacker blew himself up at the gate.
The other two tried to force their way inside but were shot dead before reaching the morning parade area, where dozens of officers were assembled – preventing a far larger mass-casualty event.
Hospitals declared emergencies, the area was locked down, and officials say the assault mirrors past strikes by armed groups operating along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border.
PM Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and vowed those responsible would be identified and brought to justice.
The Department of Immigration has apprehended more than 100 suspected illegal immigrants in two separate operations conducted in Kapiri Mposhi and Mbala between 21st and 23rd November, 2025.
According to a statement issued by Chief Public Relations Officer Namati Nshinka, the latest incident occurred on Sunday when Immigration Officers in Kapiri Mposhi intercepted a tanker truck carrying eighty-nine (89) Ethiopian nationals who had unlawfully entered the country.
The suspected immigrants were discovered at the Kapiri Mposhi Turnoff inside and on top of a tanker truck bearing registration numbers AJF 7250 and AJF 7218, belonging to Karan Transport Limited of Lusaka.
The truck driver is believed to have fled before officers arrived and is currently on the run.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Ethiopians were concealed in the empty tanker but were forced to climb on top due to excessive heat and poor ventilation.
Some were also found at nearby shops where they had gone to buy food.
Mr. Nshinka revealed that 61 of the suspects were carrying only Ethiopian national identity cards, while 28 held passports without Zambian entry endorsements, suggesting they had bypassed designated entry points.
The group is believed to have been en route to South Africa.
All 89 have been detained at Kapiri Mposhi Police Station, and the tanker truck has since been impounded.
In a separate operation conducted on 21st November in Mbala District, Immigration Officers apprehended ten Bangladeshi and three Pakistani nationals, also for failing to appear before the nearest Immigration Officer upon entry.
Additionally, three Zambian nationals were arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting the foreigners’ illegal entry.
The sixteen suspects were intercepted at a lodge in Senga Hill District, and two motor vehicles a Toyota Mark X and a Toyota Ractis were seized to aid investigations.
Mr. Nshinka warned transporters and motorists against engaging in such illegal activities, stressing that the consequences are severe.
“We wish to warn drivers to resist the temptation of aiding and abetting illegal immigrants, as doing so places them at serious risk of arrest and prosecution.
Transport operators must exercise strict oversight over their drivers and operations, as failure to do so may result in their vehicles being impounded and possibly forfeited to the State,” he said.
The Department of Immigration says all suspects remain in custody pending further investigations and possible prosecution.
University Of Zimbabwe Makes Desperate Plea For Body Donations Zimbabweans are being urged to donate their bodies to medical science. The University of Zimbabwe is facing a serious shortage of cadavers, a situation that is severely hampering the training of the nation’s future doctors and nurses. This direct appeal from the university’s anatomy unit highlights a growing crisis in medical education.
The call was made clear during a recent ceremony. According to The Herald, the University of Zimbabwe’s Department of Biomedical Sciences has stated that a shortage of body donations is directly impacting the quality of training for health professionals. Body donations are the foundation of anatomical study, yet the supply is not meeting the demand from growing student intakes.
A Silent Teacher’s Final Lesson The recent funeral ceremony for Mrs Rosalie Chigariro highlighted both the need and the profound impact of such donations. Mrs Chigariro made history in 2021 by becoming the first black Zimbabwean woman to donate her body to the University of Zimbabwe for medical research.
Her remains were used for teaching for four years before being cremated. Speaking at her ceremony, Mr Kavhura, the Chief Technician in the Department of Anatomy, explained the irreplaceable role of such gifts.
“Anatomy is the cornerstone of medical education. Without sufficient specimens, it becomes difficult for students to gain the full appreciation of human structure and function, something no textbook or computer model can replace.”
Mr Kavhura stated that Mrs Chigariro’s decision was a monumental act of selflessness that also challenged deep-seated cultural taboos surrounding death and the treatment of the deceased. He emphasised that donation and dignity are not mutually exclusive.
“We understand that our traditions are important. But body donation does not take away dignity. It is an act of generosity, of service, and of faith; faith that even in death, one can still help others live.”
How To Become A Donor The process for donating one’s body to medical science in Zimbabwe is legally supported by the Anatomical Donations and Post-mortem Examinations Act. Interested individuals can make the arrangement through their will, in a signed document witnessed by two people, or even orally in the presence of two witnesses.
The University of Zimbabwe encourages anyone considering this path to contact its Anatomy Unit directly to obtain the necessary forms. Officials stress that informing one’s family of the decision is a vital step, as their consent may still be required.
University authorities are keen to reassure the public that the process is handled with the utmost respect. As demonstrated by Mrs Chigariro’s case, after the educational use of the body is complete, the remains are cremated.
The university’s chairman of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Josephine Chidaushe, was quoted in other reports praising the immense value of these donations.
“The gift of body donation is one of the most profound forms of service to humanity. Through her selflessness, Ms. Chigariro became a silent teacher, one who helped nurture the next generation of doctors, surgeons, and health professionals.”
The university hopes that by sharing these stories and clarifying the process, more Zimbabweans will be inspired to consider this final act of donating their bodies, ensuring that the nation’s medical students receive the best possible education.
Steenhuisen accused of misusing DA credit card for personal expenses, including Uber Eats
Democratic Alliance (DA) is dealing with an internal crisis as its leader, John Steenhuisen, faces allegations of misusing an official party credit card for personal expenses, including Uber Eats orders for his family, according to News24.
The party has been forced to intervene and launch a formal investigation after the allegations triggered a public feud with senior colleague Dion George.
Dion George, who serves as the DA’s federal finance chairperson, stated that he took action to block the card.
In a report by News24, George is cited as confirming he removed the card because “the account could not be reconciled, as is a condition of issue”.
However, Steenhuisen has countered this narrative, claiming he chose to return the card himself and moved to a reimbursement system because he found the card’s administration “onerous”.
This dispute erupted shortly after Steenhuisen removed Dion George from his position as Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries recently. While the party initially cited “poor performance” for George’s removal, the subsequent airing of the credit card allegations has been characterized by Steenhuisen as a “revenge attempt”.
The public nature of the conflict has compelled the party to step in.
The party has issued a gag order, instructing all involved to stop arguing their cases through the media.
The outcome of the internal investigation is likely to have significant implications for the DA’s internal cohesion and public image.
Social media these days is all about doing the most outrageous thing you can to try and attract views.
But TikTok and Instagram were both a long way away when Karl Busby set off on the journey of a lifetime in 1998 as he set himself the challenge of walking around the world.
We see similar challenges pretty often online at the moment, whether it’s the Hardest Geezer’s run across Africa or even the bloke who attempted the similar athletic feat of drinking 2000 pints in 200 days.
But Bushby puts them, and even Forrest Gump’s run across America, to shame with his 27-year dedication, which saw him set off in Chile all the way back in 1998, when this writer was just a baby.
He’s walked through huge global events like the millennium celebrations, the 9/11 attacks and most recently, the coronavirus pandemic, which would have been enough to send most folks on the first flight back home.
Bushby had two rules: he would use no mechanical forms of transport, and wouldn’t go home until he got there on foot.
He even told family members that he wouldn’t be home if there was a funeral, but as we prepare for 2026, the Brit is closing in on a return to the UK, where he probably won’t last long after realising how expensive it is these days compared to the rest of the world.
Now 56, Bushby’s journey took him up through the Americas, across to Russia and then through to Asia, and now he’s on the home straight back to the UK, although he may have to swim the Channel to get there
The walk hasn’t been without its intense physical and mental challenges, as he passed through a war zone, narrowly avoided a polar bear attack and swam 186 miles in a month as he crossed the Caspian sea last year.
He’s also benefited from some technological advancements, buying his first touch screen back in 2013, while regular updates on TikTok have seen him amass over 350,000 followers.
Speaking to CBS News, he said: “I’ve found nothing but the best in those 27 years, which has just been remarkable.
He added: “Don’t be afraid, get off the couch, get out of bed, make it happen. That first step will open up a world of possibilities and opportunities, so don’t be afraid.”
Karl has around 2,000 miles to go, having travelled over 30,000 miles since first setting off, and it’s predicted that he could be home with a cuppa before the end of next year.
What’s perhaps most impressive is that he managed it all without Google Maps or a phone before 2013, and it’s probably a foreign concept to most of his viewers on TikTok that there was a time where people made do without their phones.
Elon Musk’s government body, DOGE, has been quietly dumped by the Trump administration, eight months before it was set to close.
The Tesla CEO had initially headed up a directive in the president’s administration to cut government spending. But it seems the Department of Government Efficiency has ended with a dud, closed down with eight months left on its mandate. Musk had said the aim of the department was to be so cost effective it made itself redundant by the halfway point of the president’s second term.
But it seems the slashes made by DOGE weren’t working out as well as the administration had hoped. Speaking to Reuters, Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor confirmed the department no longer exists.
He said, “That doesn’t exist. There is no target around reductions.” Kupor would go on to say it’s no longer a “centralised entity” in the administration. DOGE did not provide any details of what they had cut, when they had cut it, or how much they had effectively saved but did claim to have cut government expenditure down by tens of billions of dollars.
White House spokeswoman Liz Huston told Reuters, “President Trump was given a clear mandate to reduce waste, fraud and abuse across the federal government, and he continues to actively deliver on that commitment.”
The main figures of the DOGE team appear to have been moved to new jobs within the government also. Musk had a major fallout with Trump in May but this appears to have been patched up after the tech billionaire was spotted at a recent White House gathering attended by soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo and Saudi Arabian Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Zachary Terrell was part of the DOGE team given access to government health systems but has since been moved to the Department of Health and Human Services.
Another major player in the DOGE project was Jeremy Lewin, who is now overseeing foreign assistance at the State Department, according to the agency’s website.
Under Musk’s leadership of DOGE, tens of thousands of federal employees were fired, though hundreds were offered their jobs back in September. According to The Daily Beast, the General Services Administration was cut so heavily they had to call on ex-employees to return to work as they were left “broken and understaffed”.
MERZ & MACRON REJECT U.S. PEACE PLAN – KREMLIN SAYS “WHAT PLAN?”
Germany’s Chancellor Merz says there’s “no willingness” among G7 leaders to let Russia back into the G8 – flatly rejecting a key point in the reported US “peace plan” for Ukraine.
Macron echoed the same: no G8 comeback without full consensus, which isn’t remotely in sight.
The US plan, leaked to media, proposes reintegrating Russia into the global economy in exchange for ending the war – including lifting sanctions, a long-term US-Russia economic pact, and cooperation on AI, energy, and rare earth metals.
Trump has long pushed to bring Russia back into the fold, calling its G8 exit a “big mistake.”
Russia was kicked out in 2014 after annexing Crimea. It hasn’t attended a G20 summit in person since 2019.
Moscow says it hasn’t officially received the 28-point plan and wasn’t even aware of the Geneva talks between the US, Ukraine, and European countries.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia won’t discuss the proposal through the media.

Kim Erick, 54, was visiting the Real Bodies exhibition in Las Vegas when she encountered what she is convinced is the body of her son. She was left traumatised after seeing his body “skinned” and “butchered” for public viewing.
However, the museum denied that the body is her son’s. The police also reassured Kim that it had thoroughly investigated her son Chris’s de@th and were confident that no foul play was involved.
But, Kim remained convinced that there is a sinister aspect to his de@th and his alleged appearance in the museum.
The Texas-born mum recalled the moment she first saw the body: “I knew it was him; it was so unbelievably painful to look at. My words cannot describe how this shook me and my family to its core.
“I was actually looking at pictures of my son’s skinned, butchered body,” she added. “It is gut-wrenching.”
The remains were part of the Real Bodies exhibition in Las Vegas, which showcases actual human bodies that have been meticulously preserved, offering visitors a unique insight into their own anatomy.
Now, she is pleading for DNA tests to be conducted on the corpse to confirm if it is indeed her son.
Kim and Chris shared a profound bond as mother and son, she said. But her world was shattered when Chris was discovered de@d in November 2012 at his grandmother’s home.
Horrified mum
Police investigated his de@th and informed Kim that he had d!ed peacefully in his sleep.
However, whilst Chris’s dad – Kim’s ex-partner – arranged the cremation, Kim claimed no funeral arrangements were ever discussed. She was later given a small necklace containing a vial of ashes, supposedly belonging to her beloved son, reports the Daily Star.
Kim wasn’t convinced and suspected something wasn’t right, urging police to reopen the investigation. Weeks afterwards, she received photographs of his body at the death scene, showing bruises and cuts.
“The photos were very disturbing,” Kim told The Sun. “There were restraining marks across Chris’s arms, chest and abdomen.”
Kim kept demanding further investigation into Chris’s de@th and a toxicology report revealed there was a fatal quantity of cyanide in his body. The poisoning proved the breaking point for Kim, who is now convinced he was murd3red.
A jury in 2014 subsequently opened a murd3r investigation into Chris’s de@th, but ultimately discovered no evidence supporting the homicide claim, officially determining his de@th was likely su!cide. Kim remained adamant someone has k!lled her son and has kept campaigning for answers and proof he was murd3red.
Years later, she came across the Real Bodies exhibit and, after examining photos of the displayed bodies, she’s now convinced that one of them is her son. She pointed out that one of the bodies bears striking similarities to the crushed skull injury Chris would have likely sustained.
“I started looking online for the deep skull fracture I saw in Chris’s right temple of his head when he d!ed,” she explained. “When I saw the platinated body online in the news article with this same skull fracture… it was too painful to look closer.”
Chris’s recognisable tattoos had been “shaved away” on the body in the exhibition – a peculiar feature, as tattoos usually remain on a preserved body due to the ink’s deep penetration. The only method to remove a tattoo is to peel off the skin it was applied on, something Kim believed was done to conceal the identity of the body.
Kim has never visited the exhibition herself, as it was too distant for her to travel to, but she has pleaded with the curators to hand over the remains to her.
However, the exhibition bosses maintained that the bodies were sourced from China and there’s no feasible way to identify them.
Imagine Exhibitions, Inc. , the owner of Real Bodies, issued a statement in response.
It said: “We extend our sympathy to the family, but there is no factual basis for these allegations. The referenced specimen has been on continuous display in Las Vegas since 2004 and cannot be associated with the individual named in these claims.
“All specimens are ethically sourced and biologically unidentifiable. We remain committed to ensuring that all exhibits meet the highest ethical and legal standards.”
POWER HUDDLE: SOUTH KOREA MEETS CHINA AND JAPAN LEADERS AT G20 SIDELINES
In a rare trilateral meeting at the G20 summit, South Korean President Lee sat down with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Japanese PM Fumio Kishida to address rising tensions in East Asia.
The leaders discussed regional security, economic cooperation, and managing flashpoints like North Korea’s provocations and Beijing’s pressure on Taiwan.
The meeting comes as all three nations navigate strained relations with Seoul and Tokyo, improving ties under U.S. pressure while both maintain a delicate balancing act with China.
Lee pushed for stronger dialogue and “practical cooperation,” while Beijing called for “strategic autonomy” from U.S. influence.
While no major breakthroughs were announced, the optics alone signal a tentative reset in Northeast Asia’s high-stakes diplomacy.
‘SALAH NOT HELPING’ – ROONEY CALLS FOR ‘BIG’ DECISION
LIVERPOOL manager Arne Slot should drop Mohamed Salah, says former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest was another game in which the Egyptian, who has scored five times this season, failed to record a goal or an assist.
“If I was Slot, I’d try and make a big decision just so it has an impact on the rest of the team,” said Rooney in his latest podcast episode.
“Salah is not helping them defensively.
“If you’re one of the players who they’ve signed and you’re on the bench and you’ve seen him not running and again he’s a club legend and everything he’s done for the club – but if you’re on the bench, then what message does that send to you?”
The 33-year-old became the first player in Premier League history to finish a season with the most goals and assists and win the player of the season award last term.
His dazzling form coincided with a successful first season in charge for Slot, as he guided Liverpool to the title after succeeding Jurgen Klopp.
After a busy summer transfer window – including the arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak for a combined outlay of £241m the Reds have struggled.
Liverpool sit 11th in the table, with 18 points from 12 games.
“They’re going through a hard time, aren’t they?” added five-time Premier League winner Rooney.
“You’ve probably got to look at the effect of what sadly happened to Jota. What effect does that have on the players because that’s his team-mates? That surely has to have an effect.
“But then there’s no excuse for not fighting and not tackling.”
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said after Saturday’s loss that “everyone in the team has to take responsibility” and with Slot’s team mustering just one win in their past seven league matches, the shadow of his predecessor is beginning to loom over the Dutchman.
“I think Slot’s got a big job to get them back playing and winning,” said Rooney.
“The big thing is when he has a run of results like this, Klopp’s name keeps getting brought up.
“It’s a bit like the presence with Sir Alex Ferguson. For instance, when David Moyes came in [at Manchester United] and [Louis] Van Gaal, Fergie’s name would always get brought up.
“With Slot, Klopp keeps getting brought up. ‘He’s not Jurgen Klopp, he’s not as good as Jurgen Klopp’.
“But I think the Liverpool fans just need to move away from that and get behind him.”
Prince Philip didn’t give his grandson’s marriage to Megan Markle his seal of approval, a bombshell new book claims.
Instead of popping open the champagne, the late Duke of Edinburgh reportedly shared a warning with Prince Harry, 41, about his future wife.
That’s according to historian Andrew Lownie, who released his biography of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, earlier this year.
It’s brimming with claims of scandals about ‘sex and money on almost every page’, according to the BBC, as well as anecdotes about the royals – and what they thought of Markle.
The former Suits star, 44, got engaged to Prince Harry in 2017, and the pair made things official in May the following year.
But before the couple – who now live in California with their children Archie, six, and Lilibet, four – made it down the aisle, Prince Philip is alleged to have pulled his grandson to one side for a stern word.
“One steps out with actresses, one doesn’t marry them,” he is said to have told Harry, according to Lownie’s book.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward also made similar claims in her 2023 book My Mother And I, as she claimed Philip was ‘one of the very few wary’ of Markle.
The 99-year-old, who passed away on 9 April 2021, was reportedly really not a fan of his grandson’s spouse.
As we all know, Markle struggled to settle in among the royal family after getting hitched to Harry, culminating in ‘Megxit’. The pair ended up leaving the UK to start afresh across the pond in March 2020.
And Seward claims this only caused further tension between Philip and his grandson.
“I think [Philip is] very, very disappointed because I think he feels he gave up his naval career in order to stand by the Queen and help the monarchy,” she told Sky News in 2020.
“And why can’t Meghan just give up her acting career, support her husband and support the monarchy?
“He just cannot understand why she couldn’t support Harry and help him rather than wanting to have her voice.”
Markle announced she would not be reprising her role as the paralegal-turned-lawyer in Suits shortly before revealing her engagement to Harry in 2017.
Opening up about her role as Rachel Zane and subsequent departure, she said previously: “I left Suits right after the 100th episode, in 2018. I didn’t think I’d ever be in the entertainment industry again.
“But the entire culture has changed; streamers have changed things. The ability to create zeitgeist moments like we had in the ‘90s – where everyone would tune in at the same time for a show or gather for one moment – that doesn’t happen anymore.”
In January last year, Markle’s former co-star Gina Torres revealed that the cast ‘don’t have her number’ anymore.
A Democrat has hit out at Marjorie Taylor Green after the ex-Trump ally resigned from her position in Congress.
Jasmine Crockett, the Democrat representative for Dallas, Texas, said that Greene “can’t take the heat” of being on an opposing side to Donald Trump. Speaking to CNN, Crockett said, “Honestly, I was like, you’ve got to be kidding me. You’re on the other side of the president for one week and you can’t take the heat.
“Imagine what it is to sit in my shoes, to not only be on the opposite side of him, but to have people like her who are constantly fanning the flames.” The pair had clashed frequently in Congress though the resignation from Greene comes after she voiced her support for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Despite being at odds with the president on the Epstein files issue and defecting from her position as one of his most dedicated allies, Trump paid tribute to her work in a post to Truth Social.
He wrote, “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown, because of PLUMMETING Poll Numbers, and not wanting to face a Primary Challenger with a strong Trump Endorsement (where she would have no chance of winning!), has decided to call it ‘quits.'”
“For some reason, primarily that I refused to return her never ending barrage of phone calls, Marjorie went BAD. Nevertheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie, and thank her for her service to our Country! President DJT.”
His post comes just a short while after previously describing Greene as a “traitor”. A four-page statement from Greene confirmed her resignation while also taking aim at Washington DC. She wrote, “I’ve always represented the common American man and woman as a member of the House of Representatives which is why I’ve always been despised in Washington DC and never fit in.”
“Americans are used by the Political Industrial Complex of both Political Parties, election cycle after election cycle, in order to elect whichever side can convince Americans to hate the other side more.”
“No matter which way the political pendulum swings, Republican or Democrat, nothing ever gets better for the common American man or woman.”
Recent reports suggested that police and investigators are now considering d4vd as a suspect in teenager Celeste Rivas’ death. d4vd still hasn’t spoken out publicly about the dead body of teenager Celeste Rivas, which was found in a Tesla registered to his name earlier this year. Apparently, according to a new report from People, this public silence might be indicative of his alleged role in the police investigation into her death.
The outlet reports that an alleged police source with direct knowledge of the case told them that the singer is “not cooperating” with officials. As for what this alleged lack of cooperation looks like, the source reportedly claimed that he hasn’t cooperated throughout this entire process and that police have not yet interviewed him or spoken with him. It’s unclear if this is due to a lack of response or reach-out on either end or if either party has denied the chance. If this isn’t the case, the reason for this alleged lack of communication might be more complex.
In addition, the source reportedly told People that police still haven’t concluded which crimes d4vd or others may have allegedly committed. Medical examiners have yet to determine Celeste Rivas’ cause of death. As such, they have not presented any charges nor made any arrests, as they need more information to come to a solid enough assessment.
This report comes after police allegedly confirmed to TMZ that they are now considering d4vd as a suspect in this case. Just a day before, the outlet reported that officials are still far away from an arrest, whether relating to the 20-year-old artist or other individuals.
Elsewhere, a private investigator’s look into the d4vd situation yielded other conclusions, assumptions, and theories. Take those findings with a grain of salt, but the discovery of farm tools at his home and allegations that there was a “sadistic” plan with Rivas’ body led to a lot of Internet speculation.
For now, take these updates with a grain of salt, as officials still have a lot of work to do in the investigation. These quick updates, though, got a lot of people talking. We will see whether or not we get a key development sooner rather than later in this mystery.
International Monetary Fund (IMF) Director for Africa Abebe Selassie has assured President Peter Mutharika’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led-government that the organisation will support Malawi in bailing out on numerous crises including forex.
Selassie told the news conference after meeting Mutharika at Mtunthama State Lodge in the Capital Lilongwe that IMF will embrace Malawi’s local grown policies that advance economic recovery.
He assured Mutharika’s Government that IMF will not impose economic policies but rather able to understand on workable strategies to help local people in improving livelihoods.
He was responding to Mutharika’s appeal that Malawi needs immediate resources to secure critical imports as the country faces a delayed farming season and recurring fuel queues.
The Malawi leader called for urgent support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to help Malawi confront what he described as an “extremely difficult” economic crisis marked by shortages of food, fertilizer, fuel and foreign exchange.
“Help us with forex to address food, fuel, fertilizer purchase for good of our people’s welfare.
“You help other countries with huge finances. But, we are just asking for a little, the rest will square ourselves,” Mutharika appealed to IMF’s Africa Chief Selassie.
Echoing the same, Finance Minister, Joseph Mwanamvekha said the Malawi government simply wants the IMF program back.
Mwanamvekha expressed optimism that IMF will support Malawi’s economic recovery strategies.
The Minister disclosed that IMF will meet donors pool in Malawi for support.
The meeting provided an opportunity for Selassie to appreciate President Mutharika’s vision for the country, particularly how his administration plans to address the current economic challenges Malawi is facing.
The discussions also focused on identifying areas in which the IMF can provide support to complement government efforts.
The IMF Director, Selassie told the press after the meeting that his visit to Malawi and the meeting with Mutharika, signifies the commitment that the Bretton institution has to assist Malawi with the crises.
Lubinda must finish the fight he has started in PF – Davies
By Mubanga Mubanga
Former Patriotic Front secretary general Davies Mwila says party acting president Given Lubinda is trying to cause confusion in the party.
And Mwila said Lubinda must finish the fight he started in PF.
On Friday, Lubinda removed Mwila, acting secretary general Brenda Nyirenda, national chairperson and Lupososhi member of parliament Emmanuel Musonda Mphakanta, among other members of the central committee of the party.
He then appointed Matero member of parliament Miles Sampa (PF) as deputy secretary in-charge of politics and Celestine Mukandila as secretary general in-charge of administration.
In an interview with Daily Revelation on Saturday, Mwila said the decision by Lubinda to remove him and others from the central committee of the party
BUILD UP | PF DRAMA REACHES BREAKING POINT AS LUBINDA, MUNDUBILE AND MAKEBI CAMPS COLLIDE
The Patriotic Front has entered one of the most volatile forty eight hour stretches since losing power in 2021. What began as internal friction after the assault on Acting President Given Lubinda in Kabwe has spiralled into a full blown confrontation involving court injunctions, accusations about citizenship, open defiance from senior figures, and a late night intervention by party elders calling for a halt to the November 29 convention.
The first rupture came on Friday night when Lubinda suspended the Central Committee meeting without explanation. The announcement was made by the PF Media Director, a worker at the Secretariat, and not by a principal office bearer. The decision triggered an immediate backlash from Acting Secretary General Brenda Nyirenda and Acting Chairperson Musonda Mpankanta.
Internal messages seen by this publication show MCC members accusing Lubinda of acting in bad faith and possibly reacting to the injunction obtained by former Mafinga MP Robert Chabinga in the Kabwe High Court.
Lubinda then took a step that detonated the crisis. He removed Nyirenda, Mpankanta, former secretary general Davies Mwila, former national chairperson Christopher Shakafuswa and several others from the Central Committee. He insisted the changes fell within his powers.
Critics argued that elected officials cannot be dismissed by an acting president. The removals fractured the Lubinda bloc into three visible camps: the Mundubile group, the Makebi group and Lubinda loyalists.
Mwila responded with the harshest attack yet on Lubinda’s leadership. He questioned Lubinda’s legitimacy and tribal roots. He said, “We do not know whether Lubinda’s father is Zambian or what. We do not know where he comes from. Where is he going to get the votes from?”
He accused the acting president of attempting to impose himself on a democratic party.
Nyirenda added her own blow, saying Lubinda “might have taken one or two whiskey shots” before dismissing senior officials. She said the move was “illegal, null and void.”
The escalation forced senior PF figures to step in. Ambassador Emmanuel Mwamba advised immediate de escalation. He warned that the party risked creating a “third faction” if the suspensions were sustained.
Mwamba said, “We must not lose our strength. We have remained focused on the larger agenda to reclaim power from the UPND.” He urged Lubinda to reinstate those removed. He also called for the convention to be postponed to December or January to allow cooler heads to prevail.
This call was rejected by political analyst Dr Lawrence Mwelwa, who accused Mwamba of encouraging paralysis. He said, “Postponing the General Conference is the most dangerous mistake PF can make. A party that delays choosing a leader becomes a party that has already chosen defeat. Time is the battlefield, not a detail.”
He warned that further delays would sink the party into permanent uncertainty.
By Sunday evening, the pressure was too high for the candidates to ignore. In a late night emergency meeting chaired by party elders including former vice president Inonge Wina and Ambassador Paul Lumbi, all nine aspirants agreed to propose a postponement of the convention.
Makebi Zulu was authorised to issue the statement. He said, “The party is challenged to rise to the call for unity. The meeting resolved to propose to the Central Committee to postpone the holding of the proposed convention to a later date.”
The statement confirmed that Chishimba Kambwili, Mutotwe Kafwaya, Chitalu Chilufya, Miles Sampa, Chanda Katotobwe, Greyford Monde, Brian Mundubile, Makebi Zulu and Given Lubinda attended the meeting and accepted the proposal.
The proposal now sits in the hands of the Central Committee, but the party enters a critical week fractured, bruised and deeply mistrustful. The Lubinda camp insists the removals must stand. Others argue the suspensions are invalid without the full committee.
The Mundubile base is furious over attacks on its loyalists such as Mwila. The Makebi camp is positioning itself as the unifier. None of these groups want to appear weak ahead of the leadership vote.
The political stakes are high. PF is expected to play a decisive role in the 2026 elections. Its ability to present a credible leadership structure is central to its survival. Internal confusion has already exposed major vulnerabilities. The assault on Lubinda in Kabwe, the alleged attack on Ndola mayor Jones Kalyati in Masaiti, and the police response have added a violent edge to a party already under pressure from State institutions and its own unresolved battles.
The next Central Committee meeting will determine whether the convention goes ahead or collapses under legal, political and emotional strain.
For now, PF remains a divided house trying to avoid a complete implosion while its rivals watch closely. The build up to November 29 has now shifted into a struggle for legitimacy, survival and control inside Zambia’s largest opposition movement.
This is Build-Up bringing insight and unbiased clarity.
GIVEN LUBINDA SAYS NO HOUSEHOLD IN ZAMBIA WOULD HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING LOAD-SHEDDING TODAY IF PF HAD NOT LOST 2021 ELECTIONS
By Chamuka Shalubala
Patriotic Front Acting President Given Lubinda says no household in Zambia would have been experiencing load-shedding today if the PF had not lost the 2021 general elections.
Speaking to phoenix news, Mr. Lubinda contends that the country’s current power challenges are a direct result of stalled progress in the energy sector over the past five years.
Mr. Lubinda explains that when the PF left office, Zambia’s electricity generation capacity had doubled from about 1,600 megawatts in 2011 to around 3,200 megawatts adding that recent additions to the national grid, including projects commissioned under the current regime, were initiated by the PF and have pushed national capacity to above 4,000 megawatts.
He says the former ruling party had a clear long term energy expansion programme and insists that Zambia would have reached 6,000 megawatts of generation capacity by now if the party had remained in power as outlined in its 2021–2026 manifesto.
Mr. Lubinda adds that the pf had planned large-scale investments in solar energy and nuclear power as part of a diversified national energy mix.
READER OPINION | The Catholic Church’s Political Role: A Different View
I read your yesterday’s analysis and editorial on the two Catholic voices with a mixture of concern and disappointment. Your commentary raised important issues about political rhetoric, but it also felt harsh toward a Church that many of us look to for moral direction. The Catholic Church has been part of Zambia’s conscience from the days of UNIP, through the difficult transitions of the 1990s, and into the present. To many believers, the pulpit has always been a place where truth is spoken without fear.
Archbishop Alick Banda and bishop Ignatius Chama did not speak in a vacuum. Their warnings about political violence, selective application of the law, and public frustration did not appear from nowhere. They reflect the anxiety many citizens feel. When Archbishop Banda said the country risks tension and possible bloodshed, he was not promoting chaos. He was challenging leaders to act with fairness. When bishop Chama called for peaceful protest against constitutional changes and what he sees as rising political intimidation, he was reminding the nation that civic participation is rooted in our democratic tradition.
As a Catholic, I found it difficult to see these interventions framed as partisan. Bishops are anointed shepherds who carry spiritual and social responsibility. Their role is not to please political actors. Their responsibility is to speak for the vulnerable, the powerless and the silenced. It is possible to disagree with their tone without dismissing their prophetic duty. Many Catholics felt your editorial downplayed this sacred responsibility.
The People’s Brief has built a reputation for sober reporting. That is why your critique carried weight. But it also created the impression that the Church was being placed in the same category as political players. The Catholic Church is not perfect, but it has consistently advocated for peace, justice and dignity. When it raises an alarm, it is usually because ordinary citizens are whispering the same fears in their homes and workplaces.
I respect your commitment to neutrality. I also respect your insistence that no institution should become the country’s sole moral referee. But I ask that future analyses recognise the depth of the Catholic Church’s influence and its historical role in protecting democratic space. Zambia has always relied on institutions that speak boldly when the political climate becomes tense. The Church is one of them.
This is not a defence of every statement made by the bishops. It is a reminder that critique must be balanced with context. As readers, we value your voice. As Catholics, we simply ask for the same fairness you expect from every leader in this country.

DON’T PROTEST OUTSIDE, COME INSIDE STATE HOUSE – HH
In a calculated move, Hichilema has invited would-be protesters not to go ahead and protest outside State House but instead get inside and sit down with him.
Outside, the protests would be broadcast to the rest of the country and beyond.
He can’t influence the narrative if the protest is outside.
It would make him look bad in the eyes of both Zambians and the international community.
But inviting them inside would make him look good – a good leader and a statesman.
Sitting down with them would give him an opportunity to study each of the protesters up close and personal hoping to see vulnerabilities he could exploit for his own political ends.
However, he is not under-estimating this lot. He knows that together, they are a tough nut to crack, a stubborn lot.
Even inside State House, they have the potential to foil his agenda and embarrass him.
If HH capitulates, it may seem a sign of weakness. But that’s just on the surface.
Inside, it’s a sign of a leader who listens, credentials that must endear him to the public.
Hichilema really needs this. The energy deficit in the country must be giving him headaches and threatening his continued stay in power.
So, he needs something that could give him hope of staying at the helm.
The prospects of losing power just after one term while his nemesis, PF, is regrouping, must be a nightmare that must be giving him sleepless nights.
For the would-be protesters, their “threat” of embarrassing him by staging a protest on his door-steps would have achieved its purpose.
Protests are potentially a very powerful political device to extract concessions from stubborn regimes.
There is enough dataset from around the world to prove their effectiveness.
Especially protests that have taken place at the gates of palaces, official residencies of public officials or their offices, they are powerful displays of people power that have scared even the strongest of dictators.
With his infamous trip to Tanzania recently (where he faced regional criticism) fresh on his mind, Hichilema may want to use this interaction with protesters to indirectly dismiss suggestions that he can be as vicious to those opposed to his views as his counterpart in the East African nation.
It therefore seems to be a win-win-situation. It may be the right time to steer him away from Bill7.
COPPERBELT HEARS MAKEBI ZULU’S CALL FOR UNITY, IDEOLOGY AND CHANGE
By Brian Matambo | Lusaka, Zambia
PF presidential hopeful Hon. Makebi Zulu delivered a pointed and uncompromising assessment of Zambia’s political landscape during a live appearance on MAFKEN Radio in Mufulira with presenter Misheck Moyo. His message carried the weight of a nation in economic distress and spoke directly to Copperbelt voters who feel abandoned, overlooked and increasingly restless under the current administration. Zulu’s tone was deliberate and controlled, but the political warning he delivered was anything but soft.
He began by cautioning that Zambia cannot afford to approach the 2026 general election with a fragmented opposition. A divided field, he argued, would not strengthen democracy but hand the ruling UPND government an undeserved advantage. According to Honourable Zulu, the UPND is not banking on national progress to secure re-election. It is depending on opposition disunity, a strategy he described as a sign of a government that has drifted away from the needs and sentiments of ordinary citizens. In his view, this should worry any Zambian who is concerned about the direction of the country.
Honourable Zulu pressed the case for a unified opposition, insisting that collective action is the only realistic path to a decisive first-round victory. Avoiding a runoff, he said, would save the country from unnecessary financial pressure and prevent a prolonged period of political uncertainty. He warned that while a divided opposition may still triumph in a second round, the delay and cost would be paid by citizens who are already carrying the weight of a failing economy. For this reason, he said, unity must be genuine and immediate rather than a last-minute remedy forced by electoral arithmetic.
When pressed by Misheck Moyo on the whispered question circulating among supporters and observers alike, whether he is the chosen one, Honourable Zulu refused both self-anointment and political mythology. He insisted that the only “chosen ones” are the voters themselves. What he offers, he said, is not a claim to destiny but a commitment to principled service. If Zambians desire leadership that rejects vengeance, prioritises food security, fixes the power crisis and ensures that the country receives a fair share of its mineral wealth, then he stands ready to shoulder that responsibility. But leadership, he stressed, must be a collective endeavour, one in which the electorate replaces the politics of personality with a shared national mission.
Turning to the internal dynamics of the Patriotic Front, Honourable Makebi Zulu said that the party remains far stronger than portrayed by its detractors. Legal wrangles and attempts to manipulate its structures, he argued, have not dislodged the PF from its social base.
Those seeking to hijack the party, he said, have walked away with paperwork, not the movement itself. PF, in his view, will emerge on the other side of its internal disputes because it is anchored in a pro-poor ideology that resonates with ordinary Zambians. He reminded listeners that PF has survived more severe storms before and that the upcoming convention will formally restore clarity and direction as the party heads toward 2026.
From there, Honourable Zulu widened his critique to the state of national governance. He argued that Zambia urgently requires leaders who understand that political authority is a responsibility to uplift citizens, not an opportunity for personal enrichment or intimidation. A government that relies on silencing dissent and reshaping the political environment to its own advantage, he said, has already lost its sense of purpose. For him, governance must be defined by accountability, service and development, especially in a country facing rising food prices, prolonged power outages and a declining industrial sector.
As the programme drew to its conclusion, he delivered a heartfelt message to the Copperbelt. He reminded residents that their region has carried Zambia’s economic burden for generations, and that they deserve better than the abandoned hospitals, halted school projects and collapsing livelihoods seen under the current administration. He urged citizens to register, prepare to vote, and take ownership of the country’s direction. The next generation, he said, should be able to look back with pride, knowing that their parents acted decisively at a critical moment in the nation’s history.
He closed by saying that Zambia’s destiny remains in its own hands. With unity, purpose and the resolve to choose leaders who stand with the people, the Copperbelt and the nation at large can redirect the country toward a path of recovery. In his view, change is not only possible but inevitable when citizens stand together.
A SYNOPSIS OF NOVEMBER EVENTS IN HISTORY OF ZAMBIA ===≈=============
November is an eventful month in Zambia’s history since independence.
November, 8 2025: Stoning of President Hakainde Hichilema in Chingola. President Hichilema visited Chingola on the Copperbelt to express solidarity with victims of the Chiwempala Market fire. During his address, a group of individuals began chanting and throwing stones at the podium, prompting his security detail to evacuate him swiftly. The disturbance, reportedly fueled by frustrations over the Senseli mine activities, escalated into a riot involving vandalism and arson. A police vehicle (Toyota Land Cruiser ZP 2537 B) was attacked, its windscreen shattered, overturned, and set ablaze. The presidential holding tent, carpets, a portrait of the President, and other equipment were also destroyed.
November 16, 2025: Undisclosed visit to Zambia by Donald Trump Jnr. President Hichilema has confirmed meeting Donald Trump Jr. Although it was reported that he had come to Zambia for business, he has not been reported anywhere in Zambia attending a business event.
Here are some of the historical events that have happened in the month of November in Zambia since 1964.
November 1, 1991: First Multi-Party Elections after One-Party Rule were held on November 1, 1991. The opposition leader, Frederick Chiluba of the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD), won the presidential election, defeating the founding father of the nation, Kenneth Kaunda of the United National Independence Party (UNIP). This event marked a major turning point in Zambia’s political history, transitioning to a multi-party democracy and a peaceful transfer of power.
November 18, 1996: Second Multi-Party General Elections were held on November 18, 1996. Incumbent President Frederick Chiluba was re-elected. This election was a major event because it took place amidst significant political controversy: The National Assembly had passed a constitutional amendment earlier in the year that barred individuals not born in the country to Zambian parents from running for political office, which was widely seen as a measure to prevent former President Kenneth Kaunda from running (his parents were alleged to have come from what is now Malawi). In protest of this and general government intolerance of the opposition, Kaunda’s United National Independence Party (UNIP) and other opposition parties boycotted the election.
As a result, Chiluba’s Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) achieved a landslide victory, winning 131 out of 150 elected seats in the National Assembly, though the outcome was widely criticized by international observers and some donor nations temporarily suspended aid.

Next attraction is November 28, 2025. This is promising to leave a historical impact on the history of Zambia when protests against Bill 7 will be launched starting with State House. The Archbishop Ignatius Chama of the Kasama Archdiocese has issued a powerful moral appeal to Zambian Christians, urging them to join nationwide peaceful demonstrations organized by the Oasis Forum in opposition to what he described as a potentially dangerous erosion of constitutional safeguards.
Speaking on Radio Lutanda’s Ishiwi lyakwa Kacema program on Friday, Archbishop Chama framed the upcoming protest scheduled for November 28 at State House in Lusaka not merely as a political act, but as a sacred civic duty rooted in Christian ethics and constitutional fidelity.
“The Constitution is not a mere legal document; it is the covenant between the state and its people,” Archbishop Chama declared. “When that covenant is manipulated, when rights are quietly stripped away under the guise of reform, it is not only the duty of citizens it is the conscience of the faithful to rise in peaceful, orderly protest.”
The Archbishop emphasized that the right to peaceful assembly is enshrined in Zambia’s Constitution and must be exercised with integrity. He warned against apathy, particularly among the country’s estimated 70% Christian population, stressing that silence in the face of governance overreach undermines both democracy and moral leadership.
PeP STATEMENT ON THE PLANNED PEACEFUL PROTEST BY THE OASIS FORUM
Lusaka, 24th November 2025
1. As Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) we have received, with gratitude, the public invitation by the Oasis Forum Chairperson, Ms Beauty Katebe, to participate in the planned peaceful street protest against the irregular and unlawful manner in which President Hakainde Hichilema and his UPND Government are trying to amend the Constitution, using Bill 7, despite the said Bill 7 having recently been declared unlawful and unconstitutional, by the Constitutional Court of Zambia.
2. As Patriots for Economic Progress, we have since accepted the invitation to participate in the planned peaceful street protest that is scheduled for this Friday, 29th November 2025, starting at the Freedom Statue to State House. Our acceptance of this invitation, and desire to participate in this planned peaceful street protest, is premised on our strong belief that in a constitutional democracy such as ours, citizens should never be shy to exercise their inalienable constitutional rights and liberties, such as the right to peaceful assembly and protest, provided such rights are exercised within the confines of the law.
3. As Patriots for Economic Progress, we are happy to note that the Oasis Forum has fully complied with the requirements of the Public Order Act, insofar as giving notice to the Police, regarding the planned peaceful street protest, is concerned. We are however saddened by the report from the Oasis Forum Chairperson, that the Lusaka Division Police Command refused to receive the said notice, when it was delivered. However, the fact that the notice was delivered, is enough to have satisfied the legal requirements of the Public Order Act. Whether the Police read the notice or refuse to read the notice, is entirely their own matter.
4. As Patriots for Economic Progress, we have also noted the proposal by President Hakainde Hichilema, through his Press Aide, for dialogue regarding the ongoing illegal and unconstitutional Constitution amendment process, that was extended to the Oasis Forum. Our considered view is that any such dialogue should only take place after the planned peaceful street protest, and not be a substitute for the planned peaceful street protest. In other words, the planned peaceful street protest that is scheduled for this Friday, 29th November 2025, must proceed without fail.

“There is no justifiable reason for Tasila Lungu to stay away from Parliament.”
By Thandiwe Ketiš Ngoma
Laura, if we are discussing fairness and principles, then let’s apply them consistently. Before questioning Tasila Lungu’s leave or implying she is receiving special treatment, you should first direct your concern where it belongs:
Ask the Attorney General, Mr. Mulilo Kabesha, to drop the case that is preventing the burial, and ask President Hakainde Hichilema to step away from the matter of former President Edgar Lungu’s funeral.
Until those two things happen, it is unreasonable to fault Tasila for remaining close to her family during an unprecedented and painful situation. She is not the cause of the delay — the State is. And if the State is involved in a process that directly affects her father’s burial, then any criticism should begin there.
Instead of speaking up for a person whose rights are clearly being constrained, your commentary ends up defending the actions of the very regime that has created this impossible situation. The humane position is simple: allow the family to bury their father. Once that is resolved, Tasila can fully resume her duties without the emotional and legal cloud hanging over her.
Let us demand justice and decency consistently — not only when it is convenient.
YOU ARE ‘GIVEN ROBSON’ AND NOT ‘GIVEN LUBINDA’ – DAVIS MWILA
“Lubinda is not a pure Zambian”
Comrade Given Lubinda does not qualify to stand as PF President as he is not a pure Zambian, Former Patriotic Front Secretary General Davis Mwila has charged.
Addressing PF supporters a short while ago, Mr Mwila said it was shocking that a man whose father was Scottish wants to impose himself as PF President at the expense of pure Zambians. “This is just the beginning of the real fight ahead.
We fought politicians bigger than Given Lubinda and he thinks he can just bulldoze himself to the party leadership at a silver plate by intimidating us. Abepelefye”, said Mwila as scores of PF youths clapped in approval.
Meanwhile, Mr Mwila has claimed that the real father for Hon Given Lubinda was Dr Edward Robson; a Scottish origin who was a commercial farmer in Mazabuka while his mother was Inonge Lubinda who was hailing from Mongu in Western Province.
“Instead of using his father’s surname, he went for his mother’s so that he can use it to dominate Zambian politics. But he won’t manage as we are equal to the task of defending ourselves. We now say no to that; enough is enough”, added Davis Mwila angrily.
Mr Mwila said Hon Lubinda has now two choices; to make peace by reinstating all fired Members of the Central Committee or to escalate internal wrangles by being adamant which will see him (Lubinda) being expelled from the party for misconduct.-ZAI
Cameroon’s opposition figure, Mr. Issa Tchiroma Bakary (self-proclaimed President-Elect), who has been in self-exile since November 7, 2025, is currently in The Gambia.
In a press release issued today, Saturday, November 23, 2025, the Government of The Gambia acknowledged Mr. Bakary’s presence in their territory. They stated that he is being hosted temporarily on purely humanitarian grounds.
The question now is: How long will The Gambia be willing to host Mr. Bakary? Will the Gambian government maintain its position of humanitarian accommodation, or will it take a stance if Mr. Issa Tchiroma engages in activities perceived as challenging or undermining the current Cameroonian government under Paul Biya?
Analysis
What does this means?
It means he is officially on exile. Gambia, as his host country, made it clear that he is there on humanitarian grounds, which they are obliged to grant him, protection under international law. Gambia has technically positioned her government as the intermediary for possible negotiations.
In most cases, your host country may not allow you to run a government in his country when you are there on humanitarian grounds, since it might jeopardise the relationship with your home country. The question is: what negotiation is currently going on? What happens if the negotiation fails?
Gambia is equally significant in all of this, owing to the fact that Ahidjo took refuge in the then Senegambia, which was a loose confederation between Gambia and Senegal. He later died in exile. The choice of Tchiroma to anchor in Gambia is not a coincidence.
NB
The communiqué said “Cameroon opposition leader.” It did not say “President-elect of Cameroon.”
Secondly, Adama Barrow understands the politics of disputed elections, owing to the fact that he also fled to Senegal during the disputed elections with Yahya Jammeh. He took his oath of office at the Gambian embassy in Senegal.

Elon Musk’s father, Errol Musk, is stirring controversy after claiming the United States is “finished” once white Americans become a minority — warning the country will go “back to the jungle.”
His remarks came during a sit-down interview with CNN for the upcoming special MisinfoNation: White Genocide, where senior correspondent Donie O’Sullivan asked him about projections that white Americans will be a minority population within the next two decades.
According to TMZ, Errol’s response was blunt and inflammatory: “That will be a very, very bad thing to happen. You want to see the U.S. go down? Why? You don’t like electric cars, and you don’t like technology? What is it, you want to go back to the jungle?”
O’Sullivan, visibly taken aback, pressed him for clarification — but Errol doubled down, drawing on South Africa as his example. Speaking from his home country, he echoed long-debunked narratives often used by far-right commentators in the U.S., especially after Donald Trump amplified claims that white South African farmers were being targeted and murdered. South African officials, including President Cyril Ramaphosa, have repeatedly rejected those claims as misinformation.
Errol then insisted there was no oppression of Black South Africans during apartheid — calling the historical reality “nonsense.” When Donie pointed out that he may not have seen oppression precisely because he was white, Errol only dug in further.
His comments reflect a broader rhetoric pushed by several public figures who have warned about demographic changes in the United States. Personalities like Tucker Carlson, Ann Coulter, and Nick Fuentes have all promoted fears about “replacement” or the decline of white Americans — ideas widely condemned as racist and rooted in white nationalist ideology.
Some political commentators on fringe platforms have gone even further, openly claiming that technological advancement and societal stability depend on maintaining a white majority, despite extensive evidence disproving those arguments.
This ideology — often referred to as the “Great Replacement Theory” — has been repeatedly linked to misinformation, fear-mongering, and even violent extremism. Yet the talking point continues to resurface through different voices, from European far-right leaders to U.S.-based internet personalities who claim demographic shifts will lead to cultural or economic collapse.
Errol’s remarks arrive as the U.S. prepares to boycott the upcoming G20 summit in South Africa, while Trump continues to repeat the discredited narrative of a “white genocide.” South African officials maintain those claims are false and politically motivated.
Sinda Police searching for grade 2 who defiled grade 5, leaving her with painful private parts
TWO GIRLS of the same family aged 12 and 13 have been defiled and left in excruciating pain on the private parts by two teenagers aged 19, and 15 respectively.
On Saturday November 22, Police apprehended one of the suspects accused of defiling one of the girls, while a 15-year-old male accused who is also a grade 2, still remains at large.
Details of the allegations are that, on November 17, 2025, two minor sisters aged 12 and her 13, on returning from school, were tasked to pluck some mangoes from trees behind their house.
Mother to the victims narrated to Sinda Police that her daughters returned from school around 12:00 hours on November 17, a Monday and went to pluck mangoes.
According to Sinda Police, the victims’ mother narrated that, from around 12 hours when they went to pluck mangoes, the two sisters only returned home around 18 hours, and seemed a little disturbed.
She told Police that she had been searching for them so they could eat Nshima, but were nowhere to be found. According to her, when her daughters returned in the evening, they were asked where they had gone, but did not say anything.
The mother further narrated to Police that the following day, her children went to school and when they returned, they still seemed disturbed and could not play.
Noticing their terrified silence, the victims’ mother asked a male neighbour to help quiz the little girls, who without haste, revealed that two males they could identify took advantage of them when they went to the fields to pluck mangoes, after they did not find ripe ones in their backyard.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba shares that, his officers received this report and began a search for the suspects who were nowhere to be seen, until Saturday when they managed to capture the 19-year-old suspect.
He says his officers are working with members of the community in their efforts to capture the second suspect, a 15-year-old minor, who is a grade 2 and is alleged to have defiled one of the sisters.
WE WILL NOT TAKE PART IN THE DEMONSTRATION- WORLD TOUCH MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL
PRESS STATEMENT
SUNDAY 23RD NOVEMBER 2025
1. We wish to inform the Body of Christ in Zambia and all well-meaning citizens that World Touch Ministries International will not take part in the demonstration for change and against the ongoing constitutional making process which has been called by the Oasis Forum. Our decision not to participate is informed by the following principles and considerations.
2. One of the roles of all churches and religious organisations in the world is to work for the establishment of an environment where all people can freely and actively participate in the governance of their countries. Therefore, the role of the church is to promote dialogue and not confrontation and intolerance.
3. We do not accept the emerging religious dictatorship where some church leaders engage in activities of twisting the arm of government to achieve narrow goals mainly aimed at promoting interests which do not reflect the will of the people.
4. We believe that Zambia has a Republican President and cabinet that is exemplary in terms of the open-door policy. President Hakainde Hichilema has demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt that he respects the views of the Zambian people and those who genuinely represent them. We have seen Mr. Hichilema meeting church leaders and comparing notes on various issues including the on-going constitution making process.
5. Therefore, we find calls by the Oasis Forum to demonstrate for change and against the constitutional making process as totally unnecessary. We believe that the Oasis Forum do not mean well. In fact, we are shocked that some church leaders who should be champions of dialogue and tolerance are the ones pushing people to participate in the demonstration.
6. We appeal to the Catholic Arch-Bishop of the Kasama Arch-Diocese His Grace Ignatius Chama to examine his conscience and choose the path of dialogue and not confrontation. We think that the demonstrations will drown the voice of reason and achieve nothing. But dialogue will produce understanding and common good. Henceforth, we appeal to all the good people of our country to ignore leaders that think that agitation is a way to solve national problems and disagreements.
7. World Touch Ministries values democracy and robust engagements on important national matters. But we do not support religious leaders who try to use religious dictatorship to manipulate the will of the people. Zambians elected Mr. Hichilema as President of Zambia and our role as church leaders is to pray for him and guide him so that he can be guided by God as he leads our country. This does not mean that we should not promote social justice or keep quiet in the face of injustice, corruption, and other public sins but that we should be sincere, constructive and non-partisan as we provide checks and balances.
8. We wish to call upon all religious leaders not to forget that the peace we have been enjoying in Zambia under President Hichilema can be destroyed by ourselves, God forbid! Henceforth, we should not take our peace for granted and we should not incite young people to rise against the same government which has been doing a lot to solve national challenges especially those that mainly affect our youth.
9. In conclusion, we again ask Arch-Bishop Chama and those that agree with him to seek the path of dialogue and ensure we preserve our peace and national unity under the motto One Zambia One Nation. We are aware that there are many Catholic faithful including priests who do not agree with the position Arch-Bishop Chama and others has taken. We encourage that to keep praying so that God can show those who want to promote confusion in our country abandon their destructive plans. It is not too late to abandon confrontation and choose dialogue.
