Nationwide Protests erupt in Israel as citizens call for end to war

0

Mass protests broke out across Israel on Thursday, August 7, as the country’s security cabinet met to vote on whether to expand its military operations and fully reoccupy Gaza.

In Jerusalem, demonstrators gathered in front of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office — the site of the cabinet meeting — demanding an end to the war and the return of hostages still held by Hamas. A large Israeli flag, printed with photos of the hostages, was laid out as protesters chanted and called for an immediate resolution.

Video shared by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum showed crowds chanting slogans and waving banners. The group warned that escalating military action would put the remaining captives at grave risk.

“Escalating the fighting is a death sentence and immediate disappearance for our loved ones,” the forum said in a press release. “Look us in the eyes when you choose to sacrifice them. This is the time — put a comprehensive deal on the table that will bring them all back home, all 50 hostages.”

Anat Angrest, the mother of an Israeli soldier abducted by Hamas, issued a personal appeal to the government. “For a year and ten months, we’ve tried to believe that everything is being done to bring them back. You have failed,” she said.

In Tel Aviv, demonstrators marched in front of the headquarters of Netanyahu’s Likud party, also demanding action to secure the hostages’ release and expressing frustration with the government’s handling of the crisis.

Smaller but coordinated protests were reported in other cities including Herzliya, Ra’anana, and Ness Ziona, as public pressure mounted on Netanyahu’s administration.

The protests come amid growing political and public division over Israel’s military strategy in Gaza. While some factions in government are pushing for a full reoccupation, many Israelis — particularly families of the hostages — view such a move as jeopardizing efforts to secure their release. The vote by the security cabinet marks a critical turning point in the war’s trajectory and could reshape Israel’s long-term presence in the Gaza Strip.

6 in 10 Zimbabweans consider leaving the country

About six out of ten Zimbabweans are considering emigrating in search of better opportunities, as economic challenges continue to deepen across the country, a new Afrobarometer report shows.

The pan-African survey network, which gathers data on governance, democracy, and quality of life, found that despite official claims of economic improvement, many Zimbabweans remain pessimistic about the local economy.

Conducted through face-to-face interviews in respondents’ preferred languages, the report highlights economic factors as the primary drivers for emigration. Some 58% of those considering leaving cited the pursuit of better work opportunities, while 32% sought to escape economic hardship and poverty.

South Africa remains the top destination for prospective emigrants, with 38% naming the country despite reports of xenophobic attacks and labor exploitation. Other popular destinations include Europe (23%) and North America (12%).

Afrobarometer estimates that over 2 million Zimbabweans currently live outside the country, many having fled the ongoing economic crisis. Professionals such as nurses and teachers are reportedly among those preparing to leave.

The study also revealed that education level significantly influences emigration plans: while only 35% of those with little or no schooling have considered leaving, this figure rises to 75% among the most educated.

“Youth are especially inclined to consider emigration, with 68% contemplating leaving, compared to just 26% of the elderly,” the report noted.

Migration challenges, including difficulties crossing borders, were found to be common. The report states that 58% of respondents have thought about leaving Zimbabwe, with 34% doing so “a lot.” Those with higher education and greater lived poverty reported more difficulties in crossing borders.

Men (63%) and urban residents (65%) were more likely to have considered emigration than women (53%) and rural dwellers (53%).

Despite these migration trends, the report found broad support for free movement within southern Africa, with three-quarters of Zimbabweans endorsing unrestricted cross-border travel for trade and work. However, 67% said that in practice, crossing borders is “difficult” or “very difficult.”

Attitudes towards migrants were generally positive: 86% expressed no issues living next door to foreign workers or immigrants, and 77% felt similarly about refugees.

Still, over 60% believed the government should reduce or stop immigration of foreign job seekers.

The report underscores the strong economic motivations behind Zimbabweans’ desire to emigrate, reflecting ongoing challenges in the country’s economic landscape.

“IF TONSE ALLIANCE WINS, UPND WILL SUFFER!” – NJOBVU WARNS OF 2026 POLITICAL REVENGE

“IF TONSE WINS, UPND WILL SUFFER!” – NJOBVU WARNS OF 2026 POLITICAL REVENGE
………..DU Leader Calls for Neutral President, Slams UPND’s ‘Useless Statistics’ Amid Rising Poverty

Democratic Union (DU) president Ackim Antony Njobvu has warned that if the opposition Tonse Alliance wins the 2026 general elections, Zambia could face political revenge, instability, and deeper national division. He cautioned that the ruling UPND would “feel the wrath” of a bitterly charged opposition.

Featuring on Capital FM on Thursday morning, Njobvu said Zambians are caught in a political battlefield between two hostile camps the ruling UPND and the opposition both of which have failed to reconcile for the good of the country. He argued that only a neutral and sober-minded leader can bring lasting peace and unity.
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CMNVpNnQH/

“There is too much hate between the UPND and the opposition. This has affected national peace. We don’t need a government that is coming in just to punish another. We need healing and a fresh start,” Njobvu emphasized.

The DU president, who is positioning himself as a unifier, said most of those in the Tonse Alliance and the ruling party are part of the old political system and should be replaced with leaders offering new, people-centered ideologies. He urged voters to reject recycled leadership and failed promises.

Njobvu also slammed the UPND’s handling of the economy, stating that citizens are tired of “empty statistics.” He said economic indicators being flaunted by the government do not reflect the real suffering on the ground. “The people are still poor, mealie meal prices are high, and fuel price reductions have not helped transport costs,” he said.

He further noted that the current economic hardship is not just frustrating families but leading to rising mental health issues and suicides. “Zambians are suffering. There’s no dignity in poverty. We need leadership that restores hope, not just announces figures,” Njobvu said.

The DU leader questioned why government officials continue to celebrate what he termed “hollow achievements” when the dollar remains high, businesses are struggling, and citizens cannot afford basic commodities. He warned the UPND not to be too comfortable, saying, “Their biggest opposition in 2026 is not a party it’s the people.”

As the election draws closer, Njobvu has invited all citizens seeking change to rally behind the Democratic Union. “We mean well for this country. We’re not here for vengeance or ego. We’re here to build,” he said.

He pledged to prioritize youth and women in his administration, promising to appoint women as provincial ministers. “Women keep our homes. They are dependable. Together with the youth, they will lead this country into a new era,” Njobvu declared.

ZAMBIAN GOVT WANTS TO GIVE LUNGU A DIGNIFIED BURIAL

ZAMBIAN GOVT WANTS TO GIVE LUNGU A DIGNIFIED BURIAL

Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha says the Zambian government wants to give former President Edgar Lungu a dignified and decent burial.

Speaking to journalists in Pretoria, South Africa, Mr. Kabesha said such a burial would involve laying Mr. Lungu to rest at Embassy Park in Zambia, where other late former Heads of State are buried.

Mr. Kabesha also called on all Zambians to pray for the Lungu family as they go through a difficult time, adding that matters relating to how the former First Family will be treated will be addressed in due course.

He further reiterated that the Zambian government will respect the decision of the court in the ongoing matter.

In this case, the Zambian government has sued some members of the Lungu family, including former First Lady Esther Lungu, seeking the repatriation of Mr. Lungu’s body for burial in Zambia contrary to the family’s wishes.

There is no winner or loser in tomorrow’s Lungu repatriation judgement – Kabesha

ATTORNEY General Mulilo Kabesha has guided that there will be no winner or loser when the Pretoria High Court gives its ruling tomorrow in the case about where former president Edgar Lungu should be buried.

Addressing the nation at a press briefing this afternoon in Pretoria, Kabesha said what matters most is giving Lungu a decent and respectful burial.

“I don’t think there will be a winner and a loser but the court will just be giving us what is the best and I think the court has looked at the evidence before which is recorded and the court is equal to the task to look at what is the best for both parties,” he said.

Kabesha said the Zambian government believes the former president should be buried at Embassy Park in Lusaka, where other presidents are laid to rest.

But if the court rules that he should be buried in South Africa, Kabesha said government will accept it as the family’s preferred choice.

“Let’s keep our ears to the ground so that we can hear what the judgement will be. Parties are anxious to know what the result will be. But what is important, whatever will be the outcome, let us continue respecting the deceased.“

“On our side as govt the best is to give Mr Lungu a dignified burial and what is a dignified burial on the Zambian side is where you are buried among your colleagues,” stated Kabesha.

The Attorney General said whatever the outcome of the case, the focus should shift to unity and peace.

“Those who have been presidents before they are all lying at Embassy park in Lusaka. That is the best for the government. If the court decides otherwise, we will take it that is the best for the family for the Lungu family’s desire has been that he be buried in South Africa.”

“Let us continue praying and loving ones another so that the matter comes to closure.
When you bury someone, other issues follow. Other things follow, such as how the family is looked after burial,” guided the Attorney General.

The Pretoria High Court in South Africa will deliver its judgment tomorrow at 11:30 hours in the case that has kept Lungu’s body unburied for two months.

The Zambian government wants to bring the body back for a state funeral, as required by law for former presidents.

However, Lungu’s widow Esther Lungu and family want him buried in South Africa, saying Lungu did not want President Hakainde Hichilema to attend his funeral.

The family’s lawyer, Casper Welgemoed, told the court that before his death, Lungu said in a podcast that he didn’t want Hichilema near his coffin.

He also argued that the family had already made funeral plans and spent a lot of money in South Africa before the government stepped in.

But the judges questioned whether there was clear evidence that Lungu wanted to be buried in South Africa.

They also said the court cannot block a sitting president from attending a funeral and that such an order can only be made by a court in Zambia.

They’ll be gnashing of teeth should Tonse alliance win next year’s elections – Njobvu

They’ll be gnashing of teeth should Tonse alliance win next year’s elections – Njobvu

…says Zambia needs a neutral person for reconciliation to occur

Democratic Union (DU) president Ackim Antony Njobvu has projected that should the opposition Tonse alliance win the 2026 general elections, they’ll be gnashing of teeth and that the UPND would feel the wrath.

And Njobvu says for real reconciliation to take place, Zambians need to vote for a neutral person as President next year.

Featuring on Capital FM earlier Thursday morning, Njobvu said there is too much hate between the ruling UPND and the opposition which has affected the peace in the country.

He said most people in the alliance and those in government had been in the system for a while and needed to be replaced by a person with fresh ideologies.

Njobvu said others claim that they have experience, but yet they are failing to address the challenges facing the nation.

“If the opposition alliance win next year’s elections, they will make sure that the UPND suffers. It will be revenge for them, and we do not need that as a people,” Njobvu said.

Njobvu emphasized the need for citizens to elect a neutral and sober person.

“The Zambian people can trust me and the DU because we mean well for this country and we have come to add value to this nation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Njobvu said there is need to restore people’s dignity by addressing poverty levels.

The outspoken politician  stated that current economic hardships had led to some citizens committing suicide.

He said the challenge with the ruling UPND government is that they are too “statistical” and liked talking about figures which do not make sense.

Njobvu challenged that Zambians should feel the impact of claimed economic improvements by the ruling party.

The opposition leader said, despite claims that government had scored improvements in certain sectors, Zambians are still suffering.

“They claim that they have reduced fuel prices, but what good has that done to the economy because transport still remains the same for those in business. Mealie meal prices are still high despite them promising to lower the prices,” Njobvu said.

Njobvu further said; “The dollar is still higher than they found it, so one wonders as to why they want to celebrate. They are just good at figures”.

He cautioned President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration not to be too comfortable, stating that the biggest opposition they have in 2026 are the Zambian people.

“I am inviting all Zambians who want to see this country take a different direction to join the DU. The youth this is our time to rule alongside women whom will appoint as provincial ministers because of how they keep our homes,” he added.

GOVERNMENT ASSURES NATION: WATER SAFE AND POLLUTION UNDER CONTROL AFTER SINO METALS INCIDENT

GOVERNMENT ASSURES NATION: WATER SAFE AND POLLUTION UNDER CONTROL AFTER SINO METALS INCIDENT

Lusaka, Thursday, August 7, 2025 – Government has assured the nation that water in the areas affected by the Sino Metals Leach Zambia Limited pollution incident has been declared safe, with pH levels now meeting both national and World Health Organization (WHO) standards.

Speaking during a high-level press briefing at the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) Boardroom in Lusaka, Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa provided a comprehensive update on the measures undertaken to respond to the incident and restore public safety.

The pollution occurred in February 2025 when a tailings dam (TD15F) at Sino Metals failed, releasing approximately 50,000 cubic metres of acidic slurry contaminated with heavy metals into the Chambishi Stream, Mwambashi, and Kafue rivers.

Mr. Mweetwa said the government, through its specialized agencies, mounted a vigorous and immediate response, successfully neutralizing the acidic content through lime dosing. By early March, pH levels had returned to above 7, within acceptable limits.

Mr. Mweetwa stated that laboratory results show pH levels have returned to normal and concentrations of heavy metals are steadily decreasing. This means the immediate danger to human, animal, and plant life has been averted.

The Ministry of Health deployed rapid response teams in Kitwe, Ngabwe, and Mumbwa. Apart from three minor suspected cases of water-related illness, all of whom recovered, no deaths or confirmed cases of acute heavy metal poisoning have been recorded.
Mr. Mweetwa emphasized that there has been no loss of life resulting from this incident.

Upon receiving a report from Sino Metals on 18 February, government agencies led by ZEMA responded the next day with an inspection, followed by a suspension of operations and the issuance of an Environmental Restoration Order compelling cleanup and a comprehensive environmental plan.

Other key interventions included over 200 water and sediment samples collected for testing, suspension of acidic tailings disposal into dams across all mining firms and new safety rules for tailings dams to take effect by December 2025.

The Chief Government Spokesperson further said when Sino failed to appoint a qualified consultant to assess environmental damage, the government invoked Section 107 of the Environmental Management Act, assumed full responsibility, and required the polluter to cover the costs.

Mr. Mweetwa said Sino Metals has already paid a K1.5 million fine and begun interim compensation to affected communities for crop and soil damage. The company is also cooperating with authorities to decommission and rehabilitate the failed dam.

He noted that Sino Metals is complying with national laws and the “polluter pays” principle.

Mr. Mweetwa commended Nkana Water Supply and Sanitation Company for acting swiftly to shut down water plants when abnormal pH levels were detected. Water supply was maintained through browsers, and plants resumed operation within days after confirming safe conditions.

The government has also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and environmental protection. Ministries and experts will continue to monitor the situation and engage affected communities.

Mr. Mweetwa stated that the government will continue to support the communities until the situation is fully resolved. He said the government remains resolute in protecting the environment and public health for current and future generations.

U.S. has suspended visa applications for Zimbabweans in Zimbabwe effective immediately

BREAKING: The U.S. has suspended visa applications for Zimbabweans in Zimbabwe, effective immediately, except for those traveling on government or diplomatic business.

The U.S. Embassy in Harare received overnight directives from Washington to halt consular operations.

Visa appointments and interviews at the Harare embassy are paused until further notice, pending additional guidance from Washington. Zimbabweans with valid U.S. visas or permanent residency cards can still travel, and applications from other countries remain unaffected.

Hopewell Chinono writes:

America has stopped all Zimbabweans from applying for U.S. visas in Zimbabwe with effect from today, except those travelling on government and diplomatic business.

The American Embassy in Harare received instructions from Washington overnight to pause consular operations.

This means there will be no visa appointments or interviews during this period at the American embassy in Harare until further notice. Embassy officials said they are awaiting further guidance from Washington.

Zimbabwean travellers with valid visas or permanent residency cards can still travel, those applying from other countries are not affected.

America also imposed a refundable visa bond fee of up to US$15,000 for Malawians and Zambians due to their high overstay rates, the same reason visa processing has been stopped in Harare.

Recent American data shows that 10.57% of Zimbabweans with B‑1/B‑2 visas (tourist/business) overstayed their stay in 2023. Malawi’s overstay rate was 14.3%, and Zambia’s was 10.5%.

These high overstay rates are the main reason the U.S. has introduced a visa bond pilot program for Malawi and Zambia; and why it has suspended visa processing for Zimbabwe.

PRETORIA HIGH COURT SETS AUGUST 8 FOR JUDGMENT IN LUNGU REPATRIATION CASE

PRETORIA HIGH COURT SETS AUGUST 8 FOR JUDGMENT IN LUNGU REPATRIATION CASE

By Darius Choonya, Pretoria, South Africa

The Pretoria High Court has set Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:30 hours as the date and time to deliver its judgment in a case in which the Zambian government is seeking the repatriation of former President Edgar Lungu’s remains for burial in Zambia.

This follows the conclusion of submissions from both the Lungu family and the State on August 4, 2025.

In their submission, the Lungu family did not object to the repatriation of the former President’s body. However, they opposed the idea of President Hakainde Hichilema presiding over the funeral proceedings, in line with the wishes of former First Lady Esther Lungu.

During the hearing, the Lungu family’s lawyer, C.J. Welgemoed, was asked by the judges whether the return of the body to Zambia would present any issues.

He responded in the negative, stating that the core concern was President Hichilema’s involvement in the funeral.

Mr. Welgemoed argued that even in the absence of a formal statement from Mr. Lungu regarding his burial, the court should respect the wishes of his wife as next of kin, who feels it would be undignified for President Hichilema to preside over the ceremony.

The court, however, noted that it cannot issue an order barring the current President from presiding over the funeral.

Meanwhile, the Zambian government has maintained that the body should be repatriated and that Mr. Lungu should be accorded the honour befitting a former Head of State.

The case has drawn national attention, as it pits the government’s position against the preferences of the late President’s family.

Speaking when he featured on Emmanuel Mwamba’s podcast, Tuesday, Lubinda said selecting a leader for the opposition required synergy from various players.

“We accept the fact that what brings us together is stronger and bigger than what separates us because we are into this not for ourselves. We are into this for the country.

So, yes, we shall have challenges, we shall have difficulties but as long as we are willing to listen to one another and as long as we commit ourselves to handling these matters without self being” he said.

VIDEO: Diamond Platnumz says that he is aware that not all his children are biologically his but he chooses not to argue with the mothers and take care of all

Tanzanian singer, Diamond Platnumz says that he is aware that not all his children are biologically his, but he chooses not to argue with the mothers and take care of all.

Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz has claimed that DNA tests revealed some of the children he has been raising are not biologically his.

Speaking on a podcast interview on Tuesday, August 6 2025, the celebrated artiste opened up about the emotional complexity surrounding his fatherhood journey. He admitted that although he has between four to six children, not all of them are his by blood.

Diamond explained that he chose to undergo DNA testing, which brought to light some unexpected truths. However, the Katam hitmaker said rather than reacting with anger or disowning the children, he decided to continue supporting and caring for them.

According to him, his decision was driven by a desire to avoid unnecessary conflict with the children’s mothers and to maintain peace in their lives. He described the situation as complicated but insisted that his priority remains the well-being of the children, regardless of the DNA results.

“It’s complicated. I have four to six kids, but I know some are not mine. I still take care of them because I don’t want to argue with their mothers. I did DNA,” he said.

He went on to explain why he believes children are often better off with their mothers. According to him, women tend to understand and care for children more intuitively.

“Sometimes it is good to let mothers care for the kids because they understand children better, so letting them stay with the mother is the perfect choice in this case,” he said.

Adding;

“But some women will use this as a weapon. You need to know how to control that. If you don’t understand them, you might end up fighting them. So we need to understand women. It needs a wise man to understand women. Sometimes they need you, they miss you, so when they throw tantrums, it’s because they want you. They love you way too much.”

He also claimed that his relationship with his baby mamas is drama-free because he respects their lives and has accepted that they can move on.

“The mother of your kids moving on is good. Now you can be friends, and there will be less drama. Zari is the mother of my kids. Like her, she is married, we are so cool, we are friends. We need to understand that the mother of our kids can move on, too. Me, I’m cool with all my baby mamas,” he said.

Diamond’s kids
Diamond is known to have six children, although he has occasionally suggested the number could be higher. His publicly known children include Prince Nilan and Latifah Dangote with Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan, Dylan Abdul Naseeb with Tanzanian model Hamisa Mobetto, and Naseeb Junior with Kenyan singer Tanasha Donna.

During an episode of the Netflix reality series Young Famous & African, he claimed, “I have four kids. Maybe five or maybe six.”

He also shared an incident where a woman told his mother that she had his child, but kept it a secret because she was married and her husband believed the child was his.

“A couple of months back, my mum told me she met this lady. I know this lady, and she said she has my kid, but then, she doesn’t want to tell me because she is married, and her husband thinks the kid is his. My child is 10 years old,” he said.

In a 2022 interview with Wasafi FM, Diamond claimed he had been kept away from two of his daughters because of strained relationships with their mothers.

“I have a daughter whom I just started seeing the other day. It’s been approximately four years since I last saw her. The first one is in Mwanza, but her mother hid her from me. As for the second, her mother is in a serious relationship, and we’re trying to find the perfect time for me to meet her,” the singer said.

Adding;

“My mother has seen them and said they are mine. My mother does not lie.”

Diamond also admitted that he struggles with being alone and sometimes ends up in relationships or one-night stands that result in complications.

“Sometimes I can have one-night stands that complicate everything.”

When Every Voice Wants The Throne:A Silent Crisis In The Opposition

By Dr Mwelwa

Zambian politics has always danced to the tune of region, language, and the unspoken alignments of power. Since independence, the corridors of power have echoed most loudly with the voices of those from certain regions—especially the North. Now, as we approach yet another decisive election season, we find ourselves standing before a familiar pattern.

The list of those vying for the presidency reads like a roll call from the Northern block—Brian Mundubile, Miles Sampa, Chishimba Kambwili, Emmanuel Mwamba, Kelvin Bwalya Fube, Chanda Katotobwe, Bwalya Ng’andu, Chishala Kateka, Binwell Mpundu, Christopher Kang’ombe, Nevers Mumba, Chilufya Tayali, Mutotwe Kafwaya, Fred M’membe—the list goes on. Talented, yes. Patriotic, no doubt. But all from the same corner of the country. Is it by design or by accident?

Zambia’s history is rich with moments when leadership rotated—slowly—from one region to another, bringing a sense of shared belonging. But in recent times, the perception is that two regions are constantly in a silent tug-of-war: the Zambezi region, which currently holds the reins of power, and the Northern region, which has remained the stronghold of the opposition. What is troubling, and perhaps dangerous, is the apparent fragmentation within the Northern bloc. It seems almost everyone wants to be President, regardless of whether the timing, context, or mathematics make sense.

Political ambition is not a sin. But political reality is a harsh teacher. Zambia does not elect leaders based on dreams alone, but on coalitions, arithmetic, and public mood. Even the mightiest need alliances. The ruling party is not resting. It is reorganizing, strengthening rural structures, consolidating ethnic support, and rebranding its failures as transitional pains. Meanwhile, the opposition—especially the North—is splintering into many voices, many flags, and many egos. How then can it win?

It is also strange that some of those accused of betrayal, of cozying up to power, of weakening the opposition from within, are again from the North or East. Is this coincidence, or is there a deeper question to ask ourselves about unity, long-term vision, and the ghost of political survivalism? When regions continually produce both the strongest opponents and the softest defectors, it becomes difficult to build trust and momentum.

Let us ask a sensitive but necessary question: how many candidates from Northwestern Province have declared their intentions? What about Western? Or even Central? Where is the reflection of Zambia’s full diversity in this race for the highest office? Or have we unconsciously reduced national leadership to a regional affair?

This is not to discredit any candidate. It is rather a call for self-reflection. It is a reminder that strategy must sometimes tame ambition. That if unity is not forged now, the Zambezi region may rule for another decade—not because it is invincible, but because the opposition refuses to read the signs of the times.

Perhaps it is time some contenders reconsider. Perhaps it’s time for kingmakers to rise, and not just kings. Power does not always come from the one who shouts the loudest or marches alone. Sometimes, it comes from the one who steps back and builds alliances. Zambia is watching. History is writing. And the future, as always, will not favour the divided.

Zambia Rejects U.S. Request to Admit Deported Criminals, Citing Christian and Constitutional Values

Zambia Rejects U.S. Request to Admit Deported Criminals, Citing Christian and Constitutional Values

Micheal Lombe, Lusaka.

Lusaka — Government sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, have revealed that the United States recently requested the Zambian government to admit deported foreign nationals described as dangerous illegal immigrants. The request was reportedly tied to an unspecified aid package.

According to the sources, the Zambian government firmly rejected the proposal, citing both Christian and constitutional values, as well as the potential backlash from Zambia’s deeply religious communities.

“Government refused on moral and constitutional grounds. As a Christian Nation, Zambia cannot be a haven for individuals who committed crimes in other sovereign jurisdictions. Doing so would be immoral, akin to slave merchandising, and deeply offensive to both local and American Christian communities,” said one source familiar with the matter.

The source added,

“Accepting such a deal would violate our national conscience and resemble transactional justice, a morally unacceptable and historically exploitative practice.”

In what appears to be a retaliatory move, the United States has reportedly singled out Zambia and Malawi, announcing that citizens from both countries will now be required to pay a prohibitive $15,000 collateral for the issuance of a U.S. visa.

Both Malawi and Zambia maintain a low rate of visa overstays by their citizens in the United States.
Available data consistently shows that nationals from both countries largely comply with U.S. immigration regulations, including departure timelines associated with their visas.

This strong record of compliance underscores the responsible travel behavior of Malawian and Zambian citizens and challenges any justification for imposing harsh or punitive immigration measures against them.

Malawi, which is approaching a critical election season, is also reported to have rejected the U.S. request.

President Lazarus Chakwera, a Christian pastor by background, is believed to have taken a principled moral stance like Zambia’s position, grounded in faith and national values.

The development has stirred diplomatic unease and raised concerns about the use of immigration policy as leverage in bilateral relations.- Zambian Eagle

STATEMENT BY KBF ON THE PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT ISSUED BY THE U.S. EMBASSY REGARDING THE SINO METALS MINE TAILINGS DAM SPILL IN KITWE

STATEMENT BY KELVIN FUBE BWALYA (KBF)
ON THE PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT ISSUED BY THE U.S. EMBASSY REGARDING THE SINO METALS MINE TAILINGS DAM SPILL IN KITWE

Lusaka, Zambia
6th August 2025

I have received with deep concern the public health alert issued by the United States Embassy in Zambia, warning its citizens of serious environmental and health risks in Kitwe, Chambishi, and surrounding areas due to the dangerous tailings dam spill at the Sino Metals Leach Mine.

The U.S. government has already withdrawn its personnel from the affected areas, citing alarming levels of carcinogenic and hazardous substances — including arsenic, cyanide, uranium, and other heavy metals — contaminating the water, soil, and even the air. This is not just a foreign alert — it is a direct indictment on our country’s environmental regulation and crisis response.

Where is the Zambian Government?

The silence from the UPND administration is deafening. Our people in the Copperbelt are drinking, cooking, and farming with water that may be contaminated — yet their own government has issued no alert, no protection, and no emergency plan.

Where is ZEMA?
Where is the Ministry of Mines?
Where is the Ministry of Health?
Where is the President?

Zambians deserve leadership that doesn’t wait for foreign embassies to speak before it acts.

Our Position and Proposal

This level of environmental abuse cannot go unpunished. Zambia Must Prosper (ZMP) demands the following immediate actions and long-term structural reforms:

1. Immediate Public Health and Environmental Response

Declare a State of Environmental Emergency in Kitwe, Chambishi, and all affected downstream areas.

Distribute safe drinking water and emergency food supplies to affected communities.

Deploy mobile health units to screen and treat people exposed to heavy metal poisoning.

2. Independent Investigation & Accountability

Establish an Independent Public Inquiry — involving ZEMA, international experts, medical professionals, and civil society — to determine:

The cause of the dam failure.

The extent of contamination.

The level of negligence or criminal liability.

Suspend the operating license of Sino Metals Leach Mine until:

Full environmental and safety compliance is independently verified.

Victim compensation and site clean-up plans are completed.

3. Justice for the People

Institute legal proceedings against those found liable — both corporate and government officials — under Zambia’s Environmental Management Act and Penal Code.

Demand that Sino Metals funds the full clean-up, including restoration of contaminated land and rivers, as well as medical costs for those affected.

4. Reform the Mining Sector

Review and strengthen environmental compliance laws and enforcement.

Require mandatory insurance or remediation bonds from all mining companies to cover future disasters.

Ban mining activities within close proximity to public water sources and residential zones.

Leadership Must Protect, Not Neglect

We cannot continue to sacrifice our people and our environment in the name of foreign investment. Zambia is not a dumping ground, and the health of our citizens is not negotiable.

Zambia Must Prosper stands with the people of Kitwe, Chambishi, and the entire Copperbelt in demanding transparency, accountability, and justice. We also stand ready to work with all stakeholders to ensure no such disaster ever happens again.

Leadership is about responsibility. The time to act is now.

Signed,
Kelvin Fube Bwalya (KBF)

I DON’T OWE LUSAMBO US$100, 000 – CHIEF NKANA

I DON’T OWE LUSAMBO US$100, 000 – CHIEF NKANA

CHIEF Nkana has denied owing Bowman Lusambo US$105, 000, arguing that the former lawmaker had no role in the sale or investment process of Bisma Mining Limited.

In a defence filed before the Lusaka High Court Commercial Division, Mr Godfrey Shamanena, known as Chief Nkana of the Lamba people in Lufwanyama dismissed Lusambo’s claims as baseless and gratuitous.

Mr Lusambo sued Chief Nkana in the Lusaka High Court, seeking payment of US$105, 000, claiming it was his agreed share from the sale of Bisma Mining Limited.

He asserted that he had played a key role in facilitating negotiations and investing in legal and commercial efforts that led to the eventual sale of the mine to Grizzly Mining Limited.

He said that following the transaction, Grizzly Mining, through its chairman Ndiaye Abdoulaye (popularly known as Gunnase), agreed at the request of Chief Nkana to release a balance of US$165, 000 from the sale proceeds.

According to Mr Lusambo, this amount was to be shared as follows: US$105, 000 to himself, and US$30, 000 each to Chief Nkana and Chieftainess Malembeka.

He claimed that Chief Nkana authored a letter confirming this arrangement and instructed Grizzly Mining to disburse the money accordingly.

However, he alleged the full amount was instead deposited into Chief Nkana’s personal account.

But in his defence, Chief Nkana insisted Mr Lusambo had no legal claim to the money, stressing that he neither facilitated the sale nor invested in the process.

He stated that Mr Lusambo was not a shareholder or director in Bisma Mining Limited and that the alleged promise to pay him was merely a gesture of financial help.

“The plaintiff never invested any resources nor did he facilitate any negotiations relating to Bisma. In fact, he is neither a shareholder nor a director,” read part of the court filing.

Chief Nkana said he only received a portion of the sale proceeds proportional to his shareholding in Bisma and that the US$165, 000 was not disbursed at his request, nor was Mr Lusambo a party to the sale agreement.

He contended that any promise to pay Mr Lusambo was not legally binding, as it lacked consideration and was based solely on a personal plea for financial assistance.

Asserting that he was wrongly sued, Chief Nkana argued that the entire claim is from a transaction involving Bisma Mining and Pridegems Mines Limited, to which he was merely a shareholder and not a principal.

KANSANSHI MINE, BOZ & THE GOLD AGREEMENT MYSTERY: WHAT HAPPENED?

KANSANSHI MINE, BOZ & THE GOLD AGREEMENT MYSTERY: WHAT HAPPENED?

In 2020, the Bank of Zambia (BoZ) proudly announced a Gold Purchase Agreement with Kansanshi Mining PLC, a subsidiary of First Quantum Minerals (FQM). The agreement, signed by then-Governor Christopher Mvunga and Rudi Badenhorst, Director of Operations at FQM, was celebrated as a milestone in BoZ’s strategy to strengthen foreign exchange reserves through local gold holdings.

But fast-forward to 2025 and the headlines now tell us that Kansanshi Mining has inked a “new” gold deal with a foreign company.

So the obvious question is:
 What happened to the BoZ – Kansanshi gold purchase agreement of 2020?

Is it still active? Was it terminated? Renegotiated? Ignored? Or just politically decorative?

Other key Questions the Public Deserves Answers To:

1. Was the 2020 BoZ-Kansanshi agreement ever implemented beyond the signature ceremony and press statements? If so, how much gold did BoZ actually purchase under it?

2. Why has Kansanshi now signed with a foreign entity for gold sales instead of continuing to supply the national central bank?

3. Was BoZ sidelined or did it willingly back out? If sidelined, this raises serious concerns about Zambia’s sovereignty over its natural resources.

4. What are the implications for Zambia’s forex reserves if our own gold is now being exported under private or foreign agreements?

5. Was this “new” deal approved or reviewed by the Ministry of Finance or BoZ? Or are we seeing parallel deals that override national interest?

6. Where does ZCCM-IH stand in all this, especially considering its 20% stake in Kansanshi and its role in government’s mining oversight?

7. How transparent are these gold transactions, really? With gold prices hitting record highs, Zambians deserve to know who is benefitting.

Let Bill 7 be scrapped off for good

Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) general secretary Father Emmanuel Chikoya has urged the government to withdraw Bill 7 of 2025, and create a clear roadmap away from the elections.

And human rights and governance activist Laura Miti says it is difficult for the country to have a constitutional amendment process that is consensus on content, because most governments want a constitution in their own image.

The duo said this during an appearance on Hot FM yesterday.

“The problem is that when you want to deal with constitutional matters around election time, the idea is to politically get into office especially if you come into office with promises that you will deliver like yesterday,” said Fr Chikoya.

We were of the view that this matter would disappear from the public space and be confined to the dustbin of history following the Constitutional Court ruling that it did not follow the proper procedure.

Clearly, if the process which was set up to establish Bill 7 was flawed, it follows that anything that speaks to that bill is flawed, no matter how appealing some clauses may be. The fact that those in government sat in their secret places and drafted a bill that they intended to give to the Zambian people as constitutional amendments, made the whole thing flawed as that is not how constitutional processes are done in this country.

President Hakainde Hichilema argues that the same bill has merely been deferred, views reinforced by Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti who argued that the same could still be tabled if Justice minister Princess Kasune wished

Elections are less than a year away. Yet there is no serious communication of the government’s progress- Frank

Let’s talk with uncle Frank….

The media can build or break a nation. It can ignite war like it did in Rwanda. It can win you an election like it did for the UPND in 2021. It is no joke that it is called the Fourth Estate. But one wonders if this government understands that.

Even the few gains it has made in governance have not been effectively shared. That is not the media’s fault. Sources must be accessible. Ministries must reach out. Ministers must respond. Government must not wait to be pursued for information.

I speak for myself. It has been extremely difficult to reach most government sources. Ministers are unavailable. PR officers are silent. Yet they are all on the public payroll.

Government must be proactive, not reactive. It must be on the front foot. The ZAMMSA drugs scandal is not new. The Sino Metals pollution on the Copperbelt is not new. Government has known these things. The public has been kept in the dark.

Then the American Ambassador speaks, and suddenly we see action. Suddenly there is panic. Suddenly statements are flying. Where was the urgency before.

Where is the government media machinery. Where are the ministry PROs. Where is public media.

The President tries. He updates the people on Facebook. But the President is one man. He carries the weight of the nation. He should not carry the burden of communication alone. That is the job of those employed to do it.

Elections are less than a year away. Yet there is no serious communication of the government’s progress. That silence is dangerous. That silence can cost.

Maybe the government is too comfortable. Maybe the lacklustre opposition has given it false confidence. But the real opposition is the people. They are watching. They are waiting.

Chief Nkana denies facilitating the sale of Bismark Mine

CHIEF Nkana, Godfrey Shamanena has denied claims by former Lusaka province minister, Bowman Lusambo that he was actively involved in the facilitation and investment of the sale of Bismark Mining Limited.

He said he did not receive the full sale proceeds of the Bismark Mining Limited transaction as he only received his share proportionate to his shareholding.

Chief Nkana submitted that Lusambo never invested any resources nor did he facilitate any negotiation relating to Bismark.

“In fact Lusambo is not a shareholder nor a director in the said mine.”

“There were no legal disputes attendant to the sale of the said Bismark Mining Limited, further, the released sum of US$165,000 was not at the request of the defendant as the defendant was not a party to the sale agreement,” read the document .

Chief Nkana submitted that the promise of US$105,000 to Lusambo was simply gratuitous as it was made at his request for financial help or assistance.

“The defendant’s promise to pay the said sum to the plaintiff was simply a gratuitous act following the plaintiff’s request for financial assistance and there was no consideration furnished by the plaintiff to the defendant for the purported payment,” he said.

He stated that Grizzly Mining Limited could not act in the said letter as the plaintiff was not a party to the transaction and had no entitlement to the proceeds of the sale.

The traditional leader further said he is not obligated to pay the plaintiff in any way or at all.

He added that Lusambo has failed to show and prove his entitlement to the said sum of US$105,000.

Chief Nkana further stated that he is a wrong party to the action as the plaintiff’s entire claim upon which the injunction order is based or anchored upon, relates to Bismark Mine.

“The sale agreement from which the plaintiff’s alleged claim arises was between Bismark as a seller of the mining licence and Pridegems Mines limited as a purchaser and the defendant was not a party to the said sale agreement.”

“In view of the foregoing the plaintiff is not entitled to any reliefs from the defendant herein as claimed in the statement of claim,” read the document.

In this case, Lusambo sued Chief Nkana in the Lusaka High Court demanding payment of US$105,000 from the proceeds of sale of Bismark Mining.

Lusambo said he was actively involved in the facilitation and investment processes relating to the sale of Bismark Mining Limited.

He said chief Nkana received the full sale proceeds in respect of the Bismark Mine transaction.

CEJ URGES GOVERNMENT TO RELEASE SINO METAL POLLUTION REPORT AMID COPPERBELT CONTAMINATION CONCERNS

CEJ URGES GOVERNMENT TO RELEASE SINO METAL POLLUTION REPORT AMID COPPERBELT CONTAMINATION CONCERNS

Centre for Environment Justice (CEJ) has called on the government to urgently release the Sino Metal pollution report.

Executive Director Maggie Mapalo Mwape highlighted the US Embassy’s August 6th statement—announcing staff withdrawal from the Copperbelt due to high contamination—which has stirred national anxiety.

Mwape stressed the importance of transparency to help the public take informed precautions for health protection.

She pointed out that around 500 victims in Kalusale and Luale have received ZMW 14–16 million in compensation, amounting to ZMW 26,000–30,000 per person.

She said CEJ considers this payout inadequate and questions why other affected communities along the Kafue River—like Mukumbo, Kankonde, Kapata, Chifumpa, and Kamwesha—were excluded.

Mwape noted these areas have experienced serious crop damage due to water contamination.

She urged the government to disclose the total penalties, fines, and payments made by the polluter for environmental destruction.

Mwape called for swift and strategic intervention describing the pollution crisis as a national disaster

She emphasized that the report’s release is vital for guiding response strategies and keeping citizens informed.

Mwape also called for fair compensation for all impacted communities, not just a select few.

She demanded full transparency on financial liabilities imposed on the polluter.

Mwape appealed for bold action to protect Zambia’s environment and the rights of its people.

Zambian woman gives birth without a womb

Zambian woman gives birth without a womb!

A woman in Zambia whose womb had been removed by doctors nine years ago is reported to have given birth to quadruplets.

Zambian Accurate Information reports that the woman “had her uterus removed 8 years ago due to multiple fibroids”.

Unable to give birth, she was mocked by people as is done to women associated with barreness in Africa.

Local media reports that the woman has been barren for 14 years. Zambian Accurate Information reports that “after 14 years..this is what she got..2 boys and 2 girls all healthy ones”.

Doctors are said to be shocked by how “she conceived and successfully gave birth to 4 babies without an operation.”

The Zambian Accurate Information which is a religious group sought to link the woman’s ability to give birth to a miracle.

In African societies giving birth is very crucial in sustaining marriages. Women who are unable to give birth years after marrying are usually mocked.

This has forced many women into desperation, constantly putting them under pressure from families.

Although adoptions are allowed in many countries in Africa not many people consider it fulfilling.

How Janet Jackson made $200 million from her five-year marriage deal after divorcing her billionaire Qatari husband

In a high-profile divorce that has captivated global audiences, pop icon Janet Jackson has reportedly secured a staggering $200 million settlement from her estranged husband, Qatari billionaire Wissam Al Mana, following the dissolution of their five-year marriage.

The couple, who married in a private ceremony in 2012, announced their separation in April 2017, just three months after the birth of their son, Eissa Al Mana, in January 2017.

According to sources close to the situation, the terms of their prenuptial agreement were pivotal in determining the settlement amount.

The agreement stipulated two key clauses: Jackson would receive $100 million if the marriage lasted at least five years, and an additional $100 million if she gave birth to a child.

Having met both conditions—maintaining the marriage for just over five years and welcoming a son—Jackson was entitled to the full $200 million payout.

Jackson and Al Mana first met in 2010 at a hotel opening in Dubai, sparking a romance that led to their engagement and secret wedding in 2012. The marriage was confirmed publicly in 2013, with the couple emphasizing their commitment to privacy and philanthropy, noting that their wedding gifts were contributions to children’s charities.

The marriage however had its challenges. According to reports, cultural and religious differences strained the relationship, particularly after the birth of Eissa.

Jackson, raised as a Jehovah’s Witness, reportedly adapted to Al Mana’s Muslim faith, adopting modest attire and toning down her signature provocative image during their union.

Sources also allege that Al Mana’s controlling behavior, including dictates over her appearance and performances, left Jackson feeling stifled. Her brother, Randy Jackson, claimed in 2017 that the marriage involved “verbal abuse” and that Janet felt like “a prisoner in her own home,” allegations that added a darker dimension to the split.

The timing of the divorce, occurring just after the five-year mark and following Eissa’s birth, raised eyebrows, with some speculating that Jackson strategically aligned the separation with the prenuptial terms.

However, those close to the singer vehemently denied accusations of a “money grab,” emphasizing her financial independence and desire to reclaim her identity. “She loves to be in control,” a family confidante told the New York Post.

“She ceded that control [in marriage] and she was not happy about it. She wants to get back to being Janet Jackson.” A friend, Gil Duldulao, defended her character, stating, “Even if there was a possibility that my friend could make 500 mil off of having a child, she would never accept a payout.”

The divorce settlement has further solidified Jackson’s financial legacy, with her net worth now estimated between $180 million and $250 million, bolstered by her music career, real estate investments, and this historic payout.

YOUNG BRITS JAILED IN ZIMBABWE FOR DRUG SMUGGLING

A 19-year-old man and 21-year-old woman have been sentenced to nine years in a Zimbabwean prison for drug smuggling.

Tihaise Darlin Elisha and Taylor Tamara Simone, both British nationals, were arrested at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in May.

Officials in Zimbabwe say the couple were stopped after looking “suspicious” coming off a flight from Thailand, which led to them being searched.

Authorities claim more than 66kg (145lb) of cannabis was found “hidden” in four suitcases.

The pair were each sentenced to nine years in prison, with three years suspended on the condition of good behaviour.

When asked about the case, the UK Foreign Office told BBC Newsbeat it is “helping” two British nationals who are detained in Zimbabwe, and is “in contact with the local authorities”.

The UK government warns that carrying illegal drugs through Zimbabwe can “carry severe penalties”.

U.S. 30% tariffs on South African exports take effect today

U.S. 30% tariffs take effect today

Starting today, South African exports to the United States face a crippling 30% tariff, a direct result of President Donald Trump’s aggressive trade stance aimed at curbing what he calls “unfair global trade imbalances.”

The tariffs, announced in a July 7 letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa, dismantle South Africa’s long-standing duty-free benefits under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). The country now joins Libya, Algeria, and Tunisia as one of the few sub-Saharan nations facing such steep duties.

Industries heavily reliant on U.S. markets automobiles, citrus, and textiles are already reeling. The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) reported an 80% plunge in auto exports to the U.S. in May, warning that as many as 100,000 jobs could be lost.

Ramaphosa has sharply criticized the move, calling it “unjustified and economically destructive.” He insists the tariffs are based on inaccurate data, pointing out that 77% of U.S. goods enter South Africa duty-free, with the country’s average tariff on American imports at just 7.6%.

South Africa has proposed a compromise that includes easing poultry import rules and buying U.S. liquefied natural gas, but no deal has been reached. Trade Minister Parks Tau is now urgently seeking alternative partners, including China, though analysts warn that pivot won’t easily replace U.S. demand.

The South African Reserve Bank has cautioned the tariffs could push inflation toward 7%, further straining households. As the new trade reality sets in, the government faces mounting pressure to protect vulnerable industries and stabilize a shaken economy.

US Banks refused to do business with me over my conservative style of Politics- US President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, August 5, accused major U.S. banks of refusing to do business with him due to his conservative political views, a claim that echoes long-standing complaints from right-wing figures about alleged discrimination.

“They discriminate against many conservatives,” Trump said during an interview on CNBC. He also hinted that an executive order addressing the issue may be in the works.

Trump claimed that both JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America rejected him after his presidency, allegedly in retaliation for his political stance and the events surrounding the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

According to Trump, JPMorgan Chase gave him a 20-day notice to close his accounts. He also said that when he attempted to open accounts at Bank of America “after I was president,” the bank refused.

“I personally spoke with [JPMorgan CEO] Jamie Dimon and [Bank of America CEO] Brian Moynihan,” Trump said. “Brian was kissing my ass when I was president, and when I called him after I was president to deposit a billion dollars plus and a lot of other things, he said, ‘We can’t do it.’”

Bank of America declined to comment directly on Trump’s statements but reiterated that political beliefs do not factor into decisions about customer accounts. The bank also noted it had worked with the Trump administration in the past to improve regulatory clarity.

JPMorgan likewise said it does not close accounts based on political views. While the bank did not comment on Trump’s specific claims, it issued a statement saying: “We’re pleased to see the White House is addressing this issue, for which we’ve been advocating for many years, and look forward to working with them to get this right.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, the White House is preparing an executive order aimed at curbing what it sees as politically motivated financial discrimination by large banks. The draft reportedly criticizes the role certain financial institutions played in cutting ties with clients following the January 6 incident. The order could be signed as soon as this week, though officials caution that plans may still change.

Speaking to reporters, Trump also floated the idea of a future Republican ticket featuring Vance alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

“Well, I think most likely,” Trump said when asked if Vance is the movement’s heir apparent. “In all fairness, he’s the vice president.”

Trump added that Rubio — who served as a Florida senator and now holds the dual roles of Secretary of State and National Security Adviser — could potentially team up with Vance: “I think Marco is also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form. I also think we have incredible people — some of the people on the stage right here.”

Joining Trump at the event were other prominent administration figures, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi, both of whom are believed to harbor their own presidential ambitions.

“It’s too early, obviously, to talk about it,” Trump continued, “but certainly [Vance] is doing a great job, and he would probably be the favorite at this point.”

Rubio himself appeared open to the idea of a Vance candidacy. Last month, he praised the vice president during an interview with Fox News’ Lara Trump, saying, “I think he’s doing a great job as vice president. He’s a close friend, and I hope he intends to do it. But I know it’s kind of early.”Nigerian beauty tips

While Rubio didn’t rule out his own potential presidential run, he said, “You never know what the future holds.”

This marks a shift in tone for Trump, who previously resisted endorsing a successor for the 2028 race. In February, he described Vance as “very capable,” but declined to name him as the leading figure to carry on the MAGA legacy.

Vance, a 40-year-old former U.S. Marine and Ohio senator, has taken on an increasingly influential role in Trump’s second term — both domestically and on the world stage. As one of Trump’s top surrogates and a key architect of foreign policy, he has carved out a central role within the administration.

Rubio’s dual role, the first since Henry Kissinger to serve as both Secretary of State and National Security Adviser, also signals his strong standing in the Trump White House.

Though both men vied for the VP position during the 2024 campaign, Vance and Rubio have since developed a close working relationship. “Marco is incredibly competent and reliable,” Vance told CNN last month. “And he’s also one of my closest friends in the administration.”

If the 2028 race features either or both of them, it would mark a continuation of Trump’s influence over Republican politics, even beyond his time in office.

Hulk Hogan’s estranged daughter Brooke Hogan reveals why she skipped his funeral

Brooke Hogan, the daughter of late wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, has revealed why she chose to skip her father’s funeral service in Florida this week—citing their estrangement and his personal aversion to funerals.

In an emotional Instagram post, Brooke shared that she instead honored her father’s life privately at the beach—a place they both loved—alongside her husband, former NHL player Steve Olesky, and their infant twins.

“My father hated the morbidity of funerals. He didn’t want one,” Brooke wrote. “Although I know people grieve in many ways – and I’m so grateful for all celebrations and events organized to honor him… I had to make my own decision to honor him the best and most genuine way I knew how… privately… the way that made me feel the closest to him.”

The 37-year-old posted photos of her young family playing in the surf, calling the moment a deeply personal tribute.

“The only thing missing today was him in his pop-up lawn chair watching the waves… and the sunset,” she captioned.

Hulk Hogan, born Terry Bollea, was laid to rest Tuesday, August 5 in a private service at Indian Rocks Baptist Church in Largo, Florida.

The funeral was attended by close family and friends. Pallbearers wore yellow boutonnieres—a tribute to the legendary yellow gear Hulk made famous during his WWE career.

The wrestling superstar died on July 24 at age 71 after suffering a heart attack at his Clearwater home.Though Brooke and her father had grown apart in recent years, she has continued to speak fondly of him.

“Daddy, we honored you in the simplest way that agreed with my soul,” she wrote. “Molly loved the water. I think she’ll be a ‘little fish’ as you called me.”

Brooke later revealed that her decision to skip public tributes, including WWE’s televised memorials on SmackDown and Monday Night Raw, was not entirely her choice.

“For those of you giving me crap for not attending my Dad’s tributes, @WWE did not extend an invite,” she wrote.

In a reflective post on July 29, Brooke addressed media speculation about the nature of her estrangement from her father, which reportedly began in September 2023. She clarified that there was no major falling out—only a series of deeply personal conversations that led her to step away for her emotional well-being.

“My dad’s blood runs through my veins. His eyes shine through my children. And our bond was never broken, not even in his final moments,” she wrote. “We never had a ‘big fight.’ It was private phone calls that no one will ever hear, know, or understand.”

Brooke said she moved to Florida in 2023 to be closer to her father but felt an emotional “force field” blocking her out. The last time they spoke was two weeks before her wedding that September.

In a gesture of peace, Brooke removed herself from his will aiming to avoid conflicts with other family members, including her mother Linda and Hogan’s third wife, Sky Daly.

“We love you and honor the things that made you so special. Every grain of sand and every wave reminded me of being your beach baby and brought us closer to you. I pray you are at peace and know how dearly I love you,” she wrote. “Rest in heaven, Daddy.”
