Zimbabwe power surge triggers shutdown in Zambia?

0

Zimbabwe and Zambia were hit by a synchronized nationwide power blackout on Tuesday, following a shutdown initiated by South African power utility Eskom due to a surge in the regional power grid.Starlink internet

The blackout occurred just before 1 PM, with restoration efforts beginning an hour later. Officials warned it could take several hours for power to be fully restored in all affected areas.

According to Eskom sources, the decision to cut off the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) – the regional electricity sharing network – was necessary to prevent “serious infrastructure damage” caused by the surge.

This marks the second national blackout in two weeks for both countries, highlighting vulnerabilities in their energy systems.

Industry insiders attributed the latest surge to failures in Zimbabwe’s transmission infrastructure, through which Zambia’s ZESCO imports electricity from Eskom and Mozambique’s Electricidade de Moçambique (EdM).

“Zambia has been heavily importing power from Mozambique through the SAPP system,” explained an industry expert. “Mozambique supplies electricity into Zimbabwe, which then transmits it to Zambia. The over-importation has placed immense strain on Zimbabwe’s systems, resulting in an overcurrent.”

When the surge was detected, Eskom acted to safeguard the regional grid by shutting down the SAPP system, cutting off supply to Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Both Zimbabwe and Zambia are grappling with diminished hydropower output due to critically low water levels at Lake Kariba, which has severely restricted electricity generation.

The two countries are accelerating energy projects to improve supply, but energy security is not expected for several years.

This latest blackout underscores the fragility of regional energy cooperation and the urgent need for infrastructure upgrades in Zimbabwe and Zambia. While the Southern African Power Pool offers a collaborative approach to mitigating power shortages, the surges reveal its limitations when local systems fail to manage high demand.

As restoration efforts continue, authorities in both countries face increasing pressure to fast-track long-term energy solutions to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen their power grids.

50 Cent Thinks There Are Too Many Hyper-Sexualized Female Rappers

0

50 Cent has weighed in on today’s mainstream female rappers, suggesting there’s a lack of balance when it comes to substance versus sex appeal.

During an interview with comedian and radio personality Michael Perry, the G-Unit boss was asked about his favorite women MCs and didn’t hesistate to speak his mind about Hip Hop’s current crop of leading ladies.

“I just want somebody to break [through] that is not trying to sell some box,” he admitted with a smirk. “I just need one!”

He even claimed that the increasing dominance of hyper-sexualized rap music “might be damaging female culture. Seriously.”

Fif acknowledged that he, too, was guilty of making raunchy records in his heyday, but argued there’s one major difference between what he was doing then and what female rappers are doing today.

“I was doing ‘Candy Shop’ and ‘Magic Stick,’ like metaphors for sexual experiences. They are flat-out saying the experience in the music now,” he said.

Hip Hop has seen a surge in sex-positive female rappers in recent years, from Megan Thee Stallion and Latto to Ice Spice and Sexyy Red.

Established acts like Nicki Minaj and Cardi B have also enjoyed continued success with their brand of sexually-charged music, topping the Billboard Hot 100 with “Super Freaky Girl” and “WAP,” respectively.

However, as fans were quick to remind 50 Cent on social media, artists like Doja Cat and the rapidly-rising Doechii have also broken through while taking a different approach to their music and identity.

50 isn’t the first rapper to levy such a critique, with fellow New Yorker Fabolous previously complaining that today’s female rappers were too one-dimensional.

“I love hearing female rappers talking some real shit,” he wrote on his Instagram Story last year. “Women are so strong. Have so many stories and perspectives that we need to hear in pure form.”

He continued: “No disrespect to any female rappers out there but I think there’s only one style of female rap/Hip Hop being promoted, programmed and looked at as successful now.”

JAY-Z ‘s lawyer denies accusations that the rapper r@ped a 13 year old girl with Diddy; shares evidence

Rapper, JAY-Z through his lawyer, has denied being close to Diddy and presented a catalog of evidence refuting a lawsuit that accuses the rap legend of r@ping a 13-year-old girl with Diddy following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

Speaking at Roc Nation’s New York City headquarters on Tuesday, December 17, in front of reporters, Alex Spiro poked holes in the anonymous woman’s story in an attempt to prove that the alleged rape “never happened.”

During his presentation, Spiro showed photos of Jay at a different event to the one his accuser said he was at and claimed that none of the properties owned by Diddy at the time matched that of the description in the lawsuit.

“There is no such location,” he said. “We don’t know whether they created a location in order to try to get jurisdiction in New York so they could bring this case in New York or that they just didn’t do their homework.”

The attorney also highlighted several inconsistencies in the woman’s timeline of events, arguing it would have been impossible for her to have been driven to the afterparty, raped, fled to a nearby gas station and picked up by her father (who was five hours away) “shortly before dawn,” as she claimed in her suit.

“These are not minor inconsistencies … If you look at the time, it’s not possible this could happen,” Spiro said, adding that he expects the case “to be dismissed. If not, it will crumble.”

Spiro also disputed the woman’s claim that she watched the VMAs on a jumbotron outside Radio City Music Hall, where the awards show was held, as there was not a jumbotron that year.

He further pointed out that she would not have been able to reach Diddy’s limousine as the streets had been heavily blocked off due to Eminem‘s now-famous VMAs performance.

Spiro also denied JAY-Z’s close relationship with Diddy, who is facing a large number of other sexual assault lawsuits as well as federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

His denial comes despite series of videos and pictures over the last two decades that show both men to have had a special closeness/bond.

“Mr. Carter has nothing to do with Mr. Combs’ case or Mr. Combs,” he said. “They knew each other professionally for a number of years. At music awards, they support each other. They go to the NBA All-Star Game, they support each other. That’s just how professions work.

https://twitter.com/i/status/1869005694680379891

“There is no closer association between any of them — that’s also a matter of fiction. That’s all that there is. He doesn’t know anything about the charges or allegations against him. He has nothing to do with that case and there’s nothing more to say.”

As for how his client is handling the lawsuit, Spiro said: “He’s upset that somebody would be allowed to do this, would be allowed to make a mockery of the system like this. He’s upset that this distracts and dissuades real victims from coming forward. He’s upset that his kids and family have to deal with this. And he should be upset.”

In response, the woman’s lawyer Tony Buzbee told Complex: “Courts resolve factual disputes. They aren’t resolved in press conferences.”

Spiro’s presentation comes shortly after the woman herself admitted in an interview with NBC News that she made “some mistakes” in her recollections of the night of the alleged assault.

JAY-Z responded by issuing a statement that said:

“Today’s investigative report proves this ‘attorney’ Buzbee filed a false complaint against me in the pursuit of money and fame.

“This incident didn’t happen and yet he filed it in court and doubled down in the press. True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began.”

West African bloc pins hopes on ambitious superhighway from Ivory Coast to Nigeria

0

West African leaders are holding a crucial summit in Nigeria’s capital Abuja, focusing on the morale-sapping departure of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger from their 15-member bloc Ecowas.

Few think the military rulers of the three dissident states can be persuaded to pause or reverse their decision.

While faced with this blow to regional unity, West Africa is also poised to start work on a 1,028km (689 miles) highway from Ivory Coast’s main city Abidjan – through Ghana, Togo and Benin – to Nigeria’s biggest city Lagos.

Construction is supposed to start in 2026 and pledges of $15.6bn (£12.3bn) have already been mobilised from a range of funders and investors.

Just as Western Europe matched the Soviet-led communist bloc with a “Common Market” that later evolved into today’s trading powerhouse, the European Union (EU), so Ecowas may find that a drive for prosperity and growth proves to be its most effective response to the wave of military coups and nationalism that have swept across the region since 2020.

The plan to build a modern transport corridor along the West African coast was originally approved eight years ago – long before the coups that have overturned civilian rule in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.

Preparatory studies, led by the African Development Bank, were commissioned.

But when these were presented last month, the timing could hardly have come at a better moment for reinvigorating the battered self-confidence of Ecowas (Economic Community of West African States).

Neither traditional diplomacy, nor sanctions, nor even the threat of military intervention in Niger, had managed to push the juntas into organising elections and restoring civilian government, as required by Ecowas governance rules.

The defiant regimes declared they would leave the 15-member bloc altogether.

They have subsequently spurned the remaining members’ efforts to persuade them to stay, although the Ecowas envoy, Senegal’s new, young President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who shares their nationalistic outlook, is still trying.

Until this crisis, Ecowas was Africa’s most cohesive and politically integrated regional grouping, with a creditable record of crisis management and even the deployment of peacekeepers in troubled member states.

With the departure of Mali, Burkina and Niger, the bloc will lose 76 million of its 446 million people and more than half its total geographical land area, with the loss of vast tracts of the Sahara – a painful blow to prestige and self-belief.

The shock of the three countries’ withdrawal may boost those pushing for tougher governance and democracy rules.

Meanwhile, the ambitious coastal transport corridor project, conceived to support economic development, will also serve a political purpose – demonstrating the remaining member countries’ capacity to work together and accelerating the trade growth and investment attraction of coastal urban West Africa, already the most prosperous part of this vast region.

And just as the EU’s wealth and dynamism proved a powerful attraction for former communist states, perhaps rising prosperity across Ecowas will eventually entice the now disenchanted further north states into rejoining the bloc.

Construction of the proposed four-to-six lane motorway is forecast to create 70,000 jobs, with completion ambitiously targeted for 2030.

And the plan is to acquire a sufficiently broad strip of land along the route to later accommodate a new railway line, linking the big port cities along the Gulf of Guinea. Existing rail routes extend inland, but there is no rail line along the coast.

The road will connect many of West Africa’s largest cities – Abidjan, with 8.3 million people, Accra (4 million), Lomé (2 million), Cotonou (2.6 million) and Lagos, estimated at close to 20 million or perhaps even more.

Several of the cities are key gateway ports for the flow of trade in and out of the region.

Already the bureaucratic hassles and risks of petty corruption that have so often complicated life for drivers passing from one country to the next are beginning to wane.

At many border crossings, modern one-stop frontier posts, where officials from both countries work side by side to check passports and transit documents, have replaced the assorted huts where drivers and passengers queued at a succession of counters while one set of border police and customs officers after another laboriously worked their way through the formalities.

And now the proposed highway and rail line promise to further speed the flow of trade and travel between the coastal economies, boosting competitiveness and integration and transforming the region’s attraction for investors – just as the EU transformed trade and development across the European continent.

And that process of economic and administrative integration of course had enormous political consequences.

It acted as a powerful incentive for countries still outside the bloc to improve economic governance, strengthen democracy and tackle corruption, in the hope of qualifying for membership.

Perhaps Ecowas can emulate this precedent, and lure the dissident states into re-joining, particularly if flagship projects such as the transport corridor give a real fillip to growth.

For not only do Mali, Niger and Burkina face severe development and security challenges, but they are also all landlocked, and heavily dependent on their coastal neighbours, through transport, trade and labour migration.

Huge volumes of trade, formal and informal, flow across the borders.

Livestock from the three countries in the Sahel is exported on the hoof to feed city dwellers in Dakar, Abidjan and Lagos.

Onions and potatoes grown in Niger’s arid climate are prized by coastal household shoppers, while Ivorian, Ghanaian and Nigerian manufactured goods are exported in the opposite direction.

Millions of Burkinabès and Malians are settled in Ivory Coast, a mainstay of the workforce for its cocoa plantations.

Moreover, the coup leaders are not pulling out of the West African CFA franc, an eight-country single currency, backed by France, that hampers competitiveness but provides a solid defence against inflation and monetary instability.

Yet these deep ties between the Sahelian countries and coastal West Africa were not sufficient to deter the military regimes in Mali, Burkina and Niger from announcing their withdrawal from Ecowas.

Hostility to the bloc, which they portray as bullying and arrogant, has paid political dividends, boosting their popularity at home. And Morocco talks of opening up an alternative trade corridor to its Atlantic ports, which could broaden the options.

But if the remaining Ecowas countries can accelerate their own drive for prosperity, pruning back trade barriers and pressing forward with breakthrough projects such as the coastal highway and rail line, then gradually they may salve today’s political bruises and mistrusts and draw the Sahel states back into a reunified West African regional identity.

Marcus Rashford admits he is ready to leave Manchester United for a ‘new challenge’

Marcus Rashford has admitted he is ready to leave Manchester United after two decades amid reports that the club have put him up for sale.

The England star, 27, was left out of United’s squad to face bitter rivals Man. City on Sunday, with new manager Ruben Amorim making the decision based on the forward’s recent performances.

Earlier this month, it was reported that United are ready to cash in on Rashford, who joined the club aged seven, ahead of the January transfer window.

In a candid interview with Henry Winter at his old primary school, where he handed out 420 presents to children, the 27-year-old admitted that he wants a ‘new challenge’.

Marcus Rashford admits he is ready to leave Manchester United for a
“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” Henry Winter quotes Rashford as saying. “When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.

“If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse. I’e seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave I’ll make a statement and it will be from me.”

Asked if he’d ‘always be a red’, he replied: “Yes! 100 per cent. 100 per cent.”

On Amorim’s decision to leave him out against City, the academy graduate said: “It’s disheartening to be left out of a derby but it’s happened, we won the game so let’s move on. It’s disappointing but I’m also someone as I’ve got older I can deal with setbacks. What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it. Or do my best the next time I’m available.”

But he’s eyeing playing for the Three Lions at the 2026 edition in Canada, Mexico and the United States. “I’m halfway through my career. I don’t expect my peak to be now,” Rashford added.

“I’ve had nine years so far in the Premier League and that’s taught me a lot, that’s helped me grow as a player and as a person. So I don’t have any regrets from the last nine years. I won’t have any regrets going forward because I take things day by day and sometimes bad things happen, sometimes good things happen. I just try and keep a fine balance.

“[The World Cup] still excites me. It’s playing for your country in the biggest competition in the world. I’ve had the chance to do it before (Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022) and it’s an unbelievable experience. If I got the opportunity again, I’ll try and grab it with both hands.”

Indian Woman in a relationship with cousin gets her husband k!lled 3 days after their wedding

A 23-year-old woman from Koteshwar in Gandhinagar, India, who is in a relationship with her maternal cousin, planned and executed the k!lling of her husband just three days after their wedding.

The victim, Bhavik Chunara, a 24-year-old resident of Vatva in Ahmedabad, married Payal Dantani on December 10, 2024.

He was abducted and strangled to d3ath on December 13. His body was recovered from a canal on Sunday, December 15.

According to the victim’s father, Kanhaiyalal Chunara, Payal was unhappy with the marriage and maintained a relationship with her cousin, Kalpesh Chunara, from Kubadthal village.

Kanhaiyalal stated in the FIR with Adalaj police that Bhavik left their home on December 13 to bring Payal back from her paternal home in Koteshwar.

Before departing, Bhavik told his father that he suspected his wife was dissatisfied with the marriage.

Bhavik left for Koteshwar on his scooter but never reached his destination.

Later that day, Kanhaiyalal received a call from Payal’s father, Suresh Dantani, who informed him that Bhavik had not arrived.

Efforts to contact Bhavik on his mobile phone were unsuccessful. A search was launched by Kanhaiyalal and his friends. Around noon, Bhavik’s scooter was found abandoned near the Mahadev temple in Koteshwar.

Witnesses at the scene informed Kanhaiyalal that Bhavik was struck by a white Innova car, after which three men forcibly bundled him into the vehicle, claiming they were taking him to the hospital and also said Bhavik was their relative.

Suspicions grew when Kanhaiyalal questioned Payal, who initially resisted answering but eventually confessed to taking part in Bhavik’s abduction and killing.

According to the police, Payal admitted that she informed Kalpesh about Bhavik’s visit to Koteshwar. Kalpesh, along with his relatives Shailesh Chunara and Sunil Chunara, allegedly intercepted Bhavik, abducted him, and fled.

Police officers said that they strangled him to death and threw his body in the Narmada canal, which was recovered on Sunday.

Payal revealed that she was in love with Kalpesh for four years and only agreed to marry Bhavik under family pressure.

She further disclosed that she and Kalpesh planned the abduction and murder to remove Bhavik from their lives.

Following the confession, the police registered an FIR for murder, abduction, and criminal conspiracy.

Inspector K B Shnkhla of Adalaj police said that all four accused were arrested.

Vladimir Putin’s top army general is blown up outside his Moscow apartment

One of Vladimir Putin’s top army generals in charge of nuclear and biological forces has been k!lled in an explosion after a bomb hidden in an electric scooter was detonated outside his apartment in Moscow.

According to Mail Online, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov d!ed in the blast moments after he emerged from his apartment block with his assistant, who was also k!lled.

The bombing is believed to have been conducted by a Ukrainian hit squad.’

It comes just a day after Kyiv had accused Kirillov of overseeing the widespread use of banned chemical weapons against its troops in the conflict zone.

Charging him in absentia with war crimes, the Ukrainian SBU security service said he was responsible for more than 4,800 documented cases of Russian troops using chemical munitions since the start of the full-scale war.

The Russian investigative committee confirmed the army general’s death, adding that investigations had been opened into the bombing. Russia has denied allegations it has used chemical weapons in Ukraine.

The bomb was hidden in or on an electric scooter at the scene.

Kirillov, who was named the head of Russia’s nuclear defence forces in April 2017, was under sanctions from several countries including the UK and Canada for his role in Ukraine.

It is believed the bomb was remotely detonated, setting off a blast that mil bloggers suggested was equal to roughly 200 grams of TNT.

The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case following the explosion at Kirillov’s building on Moscow’s Ryazansky Prospekt.

Investigators confirmed the de@ths of two men and said that a suspect in the case is being identified. The second man k!lled was identified only as Ilya P.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility from Ukraine, but the deadly exp

losion came hours after the SBU said Kirillov had been charged with the use of banned chemical weapons.

He was accused of masterminding the use of K-1 grenades loaded with banned irritant agents, CS and CN, as confirmed by two laboratories affiliated with the International Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

JAY-Z’s Lawyer Shares Evidence Refuting Rape Lawsuit, Downplays Diddy Relationship

Sensitive data leaked after Namibia ransomware hack

0

Namibia’s state-owned telecoms company has fallen victim to what is known as a ransomware attack resulting in the leak of sensitive customer data, including reportedly information about top government officials.

Telecom Namibia said the data had been released after it refused to engage with a group of hackers known as Hunters International.

The company said that it is now investigating how such a massive breach of its system occurred.

Outgoing President Nangolo Mbumba has condemned the cyberattack.

He called for it be dealt with the “urgency it deserves”, adding that cybersecurity was a matter of national security, his spokesman Alfredo Hengari was quoted by The Namibian newspaper as saying.

Local media reported that the hackers stole nearly 500,000 pieces of information including personal and financial data belonging to ministries, senior government officials and other company clients.

In a statement on Monday, Telecom Namibia said that it only discovered last Friday that some of its customers’ data had been leaked onto the dark web.

Chief executive Stanley Shanapinda said the hackers made the stolen data public after Telecom Namibia said it was not willing to negotiate with them over the ransom that was demanded.

He added that at first seemed that no sensitive information had been compromised.

Sensitive customer records, including personal identification details, addresses, and banking information are said to have leaked and shared on social media.

Telecom Namibia has said it is working with security officials to “minimise any further exposure and bring the criminals to justice”.

The company has in the meantime warned that people should not share any of the leaked information.

“We caution that anyone that uses and/or circulates any personal information that has been leaked will be committing a criminal offence,” Mr Shanapinda said.

The company has also urged customers to change passwords on their personal devices and avoid making money transfers in suspicious circumstances.

Ransomware is malicious computer software that locks up data and devices until a ransom is paid.

Like in the Telecom Namibia’s case, ransomware hackers typically ramp up pressure for the victims to transfer funds, usually in in cryptocurrency to an anonymous digital wallet.

The hackers will likely set a deadline by which the money should have been transferred, or else they leak potentially sensitive data to the public.

Mr Shanapinda said in an interview with local media that the company would not “negotiate with cyber-terrorists”.

“We know the sums they’re asking for are exorbitant and unaffordable, so there’s no reason to even consider discussing it. And even if you do pay a ransom, there’s no guarantee the information won’t still be leaked,” he said.

Naomi Campbell splits from toyboy German DJ lover after whirlwind romance

British supermodel, Naomi Campbell has split from her German DJ boyfriend Rampa after the pair enjoyed a whirlwind romance.

The pair had confirmed their relationship in August after they were spotted kissing during a night out in Mykonos, Greece.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell splits from toyboy German DJ lover after whirlwind romance
It has now been reported that Naomi, 54, and Rampa have called it quits after ‘life got in the way’ with the supermodel cutting all contact by unfollowing her ex on social media.

A source told The Sun on Monday that their relationship wasn’t ‘feasible’ long term and the split was caused by their busy schedules.

They said: ‘Naomi and Rampa’s romance was a bit of a whirlwind but it’s over now.

‘They were really into each other and wanted to spend every moment together, which they did for quite a while – But life got in the way and they’ve both been really busy.

‘Ultimately they decided to call time on their relationship, it became clear it wasn’t feasible for them to be together so she’s cut off contact with him.’

The source added that while it is a sad situation, both Naomi and Rampa have been receiving a lot of attention from others in the wake of the split.

Rampa, who was born Gregor Sütterlin in Freiburg in Germany’s Black Forest – is a renowned DJ and founder of electronic music record label, Keinemusik.

It was reported back in September that the ex couple had ‘real chemistry’ as their ‘whirlwind romance’ went from strength to strength.

A friend of Rampa, whose real name is Gregor Sutterlin, later told The Sun that he and Naomi were ‘having fun’ and enjoyed an ‘amazing summer’ together.

The insider said: ‘They’ve got real chemistry and they’ve had an amazing summer together.

‘He is keen to see where it goes and they have been very much acting like they’re a couple.

‘Gregor has had a busy year with work but Naomi has been happy to join him wherever he is in the world. It’s a whirlwind romance but at the moment it’s not slowing down.’

Ukraine claims responsibility for assassination of Russian general

0

Ukraine’s security service on Tuesday claimed responsibility for killing the head of Russia’s chemical, radiological and biological weapons unit, Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was behind the detonation of an explosive device planted in a scooter next to the entrance of an apartment building in Moscow, according to a Ukrainian source who told Reuters, the media agency said .

The Tuesday morning blast killed Kirillov and his assistant, who was not identified by name, according to Russian officials.

Russian officials have not immediately responded to Ukraine’s claim of responsibility for the incident.

Russian investigators, forensic workers and emergency services were still working at the scene late Tuesday morning, with video published on Telegram by the Investigative Committee showing emergency responders parked outside an apartment building where one entrance could be seen visibly damaged.

The committee’s chairman, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered an investigation into Kirillov and his assistant’s deaths shortly after the blast hit. They did not name any suspects.

In October, Britain sanctioned Kirillov and the nuclear protection forces for the use of riot control agents and reports of the use of chloropicrin, a chemical choking agent, on the battlefield.

In a statement at the time, the British government said Kirillov was “responsible for helping deploy these barbaric weapons” and had also been “a significant mouthpiece for Kremlin disinformation, spreading lies to mask Russia’s shameful and dangerous behavior.”

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova sought to defend Kirillov’s record, saying he had been “systematically exposing the crimes of the Anglo-Saxons for many years.”

“He worked fearlessly,” Zakharova said in a statement published to Telegram on Tuesday. “He met problems head on. For the Motherland, for the truth. Bright be his memory, may he rest in peace.”

Kirillov held several posts in the Directorate of the Chief of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense troops since 2009 before leading the force, according to Russian state-run news agency RIA

Megan Thee Stallion files restraining order against jailed Tory Lanez over ‘psychological warfare’

Megan Thee Stallion has reportedly filed a restraining order against fellow rapper Tory Lanez for harassing her while he’s in prison.

The 29-year-old rapper submitted a request on Tuesday, per TMZ, detailing months of torment from Tory, who’s currently serving a 10-year sentence in California for shooting at her feet back in 2020.

She claimed that Lanehadas orchestrated defamatory statements about her through a group of bloggers that spread defamatory statements about her. One of those bloggers is Elizabeth Milagro Cooper — someone that Meg sued in October due to allegedly promoting deep fake porn about her.

In this new filing, Meg claims that prison phone call logs are evidence of a “conspiratorial relationship” between Lanez and Cooper.

According to Meg, there’s a conversation that Lanez has with his father about payments for the blogger for harassing her.

TMZ says that this “psychological warfare” against her has caused her to get deeply depressed and estranged from her friends. With this filing for a restraining order, she wants it to force Lanez to stop harassing her directly or through others.

There are also reportedly financial records of payments to Cooper, according to TMZ’s source.

The records allegedly showcase payments made between October 2020 and March 2022 for a total of $3,000.

Last week, the accusation about Lanez appeared in an amended complaint in connection with Megan’s lawsuit against Cooper.

In the complaint, Megan’s legal team said that Lanez “repeatedly discussed” Cooper with his father. At one point, both Lanez and his father “confidently asserted that [Megan] would never be able to prove” that Lanez “pays or paid” the blogger for attacking her.

“By consciously coordinating with [Megan’s] convicted assaulter simply to amplify [Lanez’s] disproven and baseless theories to help him seek retribution against [Megan]—the true victim of [Lanez’s] criminal acts Defendant engaged in extreme and outrageous conduct that has caused, and continues to cause, [Megan] severe emotional distress,” the filing reads.

In October, Megan sued YouTuber and social media personality Milagro Gramz (Elizabeth Milagro Cooper) for allegedly acting as a ‘mouthpiece and puppet’ for Tory.

Megan’s attorney Alex Spiro accused Gramz of carrying out a public campaign to ‘denigrate, belittle, insult, and spread false statements’ about Megan on behalf of Lanez.

The blogger is accused of going as far as to share a ‘deepfake pornographic video’ depicting the rapper, real name Megan Pete – a move that Spiro says violates a Florida statute banning ‘altered sexual depictions’ of real people.

In a statement shared with DailyMail.com, Megan said: ‘It’s time to hold bloggers accountable for years of harassment, cyberbullying and the publication of misinformation about my personal and professional life.

‘I’ve endured countless attacks on my character based on false narratives from social media bloggers misrepresenting themselves as journalists.’

She continued: ‘It’s unacceptable behavior and these individuals need to understand there will be repercussions for recklessly posting lies and defamatory falsehoods.’

In a statement posted to X, Gramz acknowledged the lawsuit and confirmed that she had ‘been informed that I’m being sued by Alex Spiro on behalf of his client Megan Thee Stallion.’

In August 2023, Tory was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan in the feet during a drunken argument after a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s house in 2020.

Former heavyweight boxing champion, Tyson Fury has revealed that he has not had any contact with his wife of 16 years in the last three months as he prepares for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk this weekend.

Fury is set to face Usyk for the second time in seven months on Saturday night after losing to the Ukrainian on points in their first fight in May.

The British boxer is taking his training serious as he has blocked contacts from everyone including his wife .

Speaking about his training camp, Fury told TNT Sports presenter Dev Sahni: ‘It’s been a long camp. Been away from my wife and kids for three months, I’ve not spoken to Paris at all for three months, not one word. Yeah, I’ve sacrificed a lot.’

Sahni responded that it would all be worth it if Fury wins the rematch, to which Fury replied: ‘It will be worth it, 100 per cent.’

Fury has been married to his wife, Paris, since 2008. The couple have seven children together, and she is often at ringside for his fights.

However, she was not in attendance when Fury was beaten by Usyk earlier this year.

Fury later revealed that Paris suffered a miscarriage the night before the fight, but did not tell him outright before he got into the ring.

However, Fury claimed he knew of the devastating news after having a phone call with Paris on the eve of the fight.

‘When she said she couldn’t come over, I knew there was a problem,’ Fury said in October. ‘She usually comes out on fight week but she said she had high blood pressure.

‘I knew she wasn’t coming over on the Friday and [Saudi boxing chief] Turki Alalshikh offered us a private jet to get around the high blood pressure and said he would bring the doctor with her.

‘She said she couldn’t come and I asked her what was up and asked her to tell me but she wouldn’t. So I knew, I knew there was a problem. I said to my brother, “She’s lost that baby”. She never told me she had lost the baby, but I knew.

‘I am not making excuses but she was six months pregnant; it’s not like a small miscarriage at the beginning, you have to physically give birth to a dead child, on your own, while your husband is in a foreign country. I could not be there for her in that moment and that is tough for me. To go through that on your own, that isn’t good.

‘I have been with the woman for longer than I wasn’t with her, so it is hard that I couldn’t be there with her in that time. When I got back I got the inevitable confirmation that it was gone but she kept it to herself.’

Tyson and Paris have suffered family heartbreak before on multiple occasions.

Paris gave birth to a stillborn baby in 2014 and miscarried four years later. She learned of her miscarriage on the same day Tyson made his long-awaited comeback after three years out the ring against Sefer Seferi in June 2018, but did not tell her husband until after he had got his hand raised.

Fury has insisted the miscarriage did not affect his performance against Usyk, but his trainer Andy Lee believes it did have an impact on him.

‘Tyson never mentioned it. He never mentioned it once but he was very quiet,’ Lee told The Sun.

‘Even the day of the fight in the afternoon, the fight takes place so late over there, it must have been about 6 or 7pm, we all went for a walk and he was very quiet.

‘When Tyson got into the ring I could see somebody who was a little bit agitated and I think all of those little things that were going on in the build-up to the fight maybe were playing on his mind, or maybe just having that bit of anxiety about him,’ he added.

‘I could see, if you watch the fight back, before the fight he wasn’t really himself. Like usually he’s quite within himself.

‘So just an interesting insight, something I noticed straight away when he got into the ring,’ said the trainer.

Fury is now in Saudi Arabia, with the biggest fight of his career just days away.

I’m asking Mr Hakainde Hichilema to
STEP ASIDE AS PF PRESIDENT
…and hand over the party to Lubinda, the entire genuine PF leadership – Changala

By Ernest Chanda(The Mast)

ACTIVIST Brebner Changala has asked President Hakainde Hichilema to hand back the PF to its original leaders led by Given Lubinda.

Changala says now that the state has managed to stop former president Edgar Lungu from contesting in future elections, President Hichilema should “step aside from being PF president”.

“First of all, I want to congratulate Mr Hichilema for being president of both the Patriotic Front and the UPND. The judgment of the Constitutional Court on Mr Edgar Lungu’s eligibility has shown that the UPND were very scared of him being on the ballot. Mr Hichilema had to stop this man at all costs from being on the ballot and he has achieved this,” Changala said in an interview. “I have seen more celebrations in the UPND circles than outside. This is a sign that the judgment was not in public but UPND interest. Now that they have achieved to stop Mr Lungu from participating in any future elections, I’m asking Mr Hakainde Hichilema to step aside as PF president and hand over the party to Mr Given Lubinda and the entire genuine PF leadership. They have achieved what they wanted. Mr Lungu will not stand, so give back the party to its true members so that they can begin to mobilise for 2026.”

And Changala wondered why government officials were attacking Lungu’s reaction to the court judgment.

“I have seen reactions from [Minister of Infrastructure and Urban Development Charles] Milupi. I have heard chief government spokesperson [Cornelius] Mweetwa call for security alert because Mr Lungu talked about Plan B. Now, Mr Hichilema was in opposition for 15 years and he stood in presidential elections and failed five times.

When each time he lost, he talked about Plan B. Did anyone arrest him for that? No. So what is this false alarm about Lungu’s talk of a Plan B?” asked Changala. “So, it should be only them talking and not Lungu or any other person? If Lungu speaks then he’s speaking for himself but if UPND functionaries speak they are speaking for all of us, who told them that? No, they don’t speak for us but for themselves. Even this ConCourt judgment it’s in UPND interest and not for Zambians. So Mr Hichilema should hand back PF to its true leaders since he has achieved his objective.”

Chitotela weeps as court pronounces 10 year jail term

PAMBASHE PF member of parliament Ronald Chitotela was yesterday morning reduced to tears as the Kabwe High Court condemned him to a 10-year stay for burning car during the campaigns of the 2021 general elections.

As tears rolled down the cheeks of the former minister while he stood numb in the dock, some of his family members threw themselves on the floor and and wailed at the verdict creating a sombre yet dramatic atmosphere in the court.

Chitotela, a former minister of housing infrastructure, was jailed 10 years by Kabwe High Court judge Irene Mbewe for arson with hard labor.

He was imprisoned together with his brother Kunda Chitotela and Davies Kiniki.

The trio during the 2021 general election campaigns, burnt a Mahindra belonging to the UPND Luapula Youth Committee.

Chitotela and others were convicted by magistrate Martin Namushi who committed them to the High Court in August this year for mitigation and sentencing.

Magistrate Namushi lacked sentencing powers as the offense of arson attracts a minimum mandatory sentence of five years.

In mitigation before judge Mbewe Chitotela said he never committed a crime during the period he served as minister, as the offense of arson was his first.

He begged the court for mercy saying he was a maize dealer in his constituency, and contributed towards economic development in the area, and if jailed for a long time, the locals may suffer as he purchases maize from them.

Judge Mbewe in her judgment said the trial Court was on firm ground to convict the three, as the offense of arson not only endangers property but human life.

She also dismissed his application to vary the conviction on reasons that it amounted to forum shopping, as a similar application was raised before judge Kelvin Limbani.

For setting ablaze a vehicle without thinking their decision through, the former minister of tourism and his abettors have been confined to a cell for a decade.

After the pronouncement Chitotela broke down as he was patted on the back by his friends notable among them Chanda Kabwe.

His family members were a sorry sight, as they rolled on the floor crying uncontrollably in protestation of the trio’s jailing.

Apart from losing his freedom, Chitotela has also lost his status as honorable as he ceases to be a law maker for Pambashe constituents.

The Speaker of the National Assembly will have to declare his seat vacant and inform the Electoral Commission of Zambia to prepare for a bye-election in Pambashe constituency.

ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CRIMES COURT DENIES FORMER FIRST LADY ESTHER LUNGU STAY OF EXECUTION ON FLATS FORFEITURE

ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CRIMES COURT DENIES FORMER FIRST LADY ESTHER LUNGU STAY OF EXECUTION ON FLATS FORFEITURE

Court rules that no sufficient grounds or special circumstances were presented to halt the forfeiture of 15 double-storey flats to the state.

Lusaka, Zambia, December 18 – The Economic and Financial Crimes Court has declined former First Lady Esther Lungu’s application to stay the execution of a ruling that forfeited her 15 double-storey flats to the state. The court found that Esther failed to present sufficient grounds or special circumstances to justify such a stay.

On September 27, 2024, the High Court ruled that the flats were “tainted properties” and ordered their forfeiture to the state. Esther subsequently appealed the judgment to the Court of Appeal and sought a stay of execution from the High Court to prevent immediate enforcement of the forfeiture.

In a ruling delivered by Justices Pixie Yangailo, Ian Mabbolobbolo, and Vincent Siloka, the court emphasized that the decision to grant a stay is discretionary and requires compelling grounds. “It is a well-settled principle of law that a successful litigant is entitled to the immediate enjoyment of the fruits of the judgement,” the ruling stated.

The court clarified that a stay may only be granted under stringent conditions, including where the applicant demonstrates a risk of irreparable loss, the presence of special circumstances, or a situation where the appeal would become moot without a stay.

The judges reviewed the grounds of appeal submitted by Esther and concluded they lacked sufficient prospects of success. “Accordingly, we have perused the grounds of appeal exhibited, and it is our opinion that they do not disclose any prospects of success, especially taking into account the facts and the authorities cited in the judgement being appealed against,” the ruling read.

Esther had argued that the forfeiture violated her constitutional right to property and raised concerns about the court’s departure from precedent. However, the court ruled that these arguments failed to meet the threshold for granting a stay.

“Further, as can be seen from the affidavit evidence, the issues that the interested party seeks to rely upon do not constitute special or exceptional circumstances on which the court may grant a stay of execution of the judgement,” the judges stated.

The court underscored the distinction between conviction-based forfeitures and the non-conviction-based forfeiture applied in this case, dismissing any legal provisions cited by Esther’s counsel as irrelevant to her case.

In its final decision, the court declared: “We are therefore not satisfied that the interested party has made out a good case to persuade this court to exercise its discretion to stay the execution of the judgement pending appeal. The interested party has not advanced good grounds, let alone special circumstances, to warrant this court to exercise its discretion to grant a stay of execution of the judgement dated September 27, 2024, pending the hearing and determination of the appeal. This application is consequently declined.”

I’m not eligible to advise Lungu, he has his own friends – Kabimba

I’m not eligible to advise Lungu, he has his own friends – Kabimba

ECONOMIC Front leader Wynter Kabimba has refused to advise his fellow lawyer, former President Edgar Lungu on politics stating that the former President has his own friends who should do better at playing the role of advisors.

After the Constitutional Court ruled last week that Lungu was not eligible to contest future elections, the former President still insisted that he would be on the ballot in 2026, come what may.

Kabimba who was asked to comment on Lungu’s plans after the case, stated that he could not speak for, nor advise the former Head State as his wish to still push for his political career remained his personal decision.

The former Justice minister said Lungu now had confidants who should be eligible to tell him what to do regarding his political life.

“He has confidants around him…whom he believes in and talks to everyday, those are the ones who should advise him. I don’t want to say anything because it’s a personal decision for him. When he decided to come back to politics he didn’t consult me, what he does in his political career is up to him, he didn’t consult me,” said Kabimba.

Meanwhile, Kabimba commended President Hakainde Hichilema’s fight against corruption noting that the recent dismissal of Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Joseph Simoonga is a testament to how the President is not choosy in how he deals with officials.

Kabimba explained that President Hichilema has shown seriousness in the fight against corruption citing the number of many previous public officials who have been exposed and convicted.

“I’m happy with the fight against corruption, it has given us a great deal of comfort, that the State is coming up with evidence. Now we have figures that are not being produced by the state but before the courts of law and those accused have the opportunity to respond,” he explained.

He added that fighting corruption is not an overnight issue which people should expect to end soon.

The former cabinet minister stated that the argument that corruption is targeting certain people is no longer attainable as the President is fighting both present and past corruption.

“Corruption is not something that you can fight for years and stop it. Even in China where they execute corrupt officials, it has never ended. How do you grant yourself a tender. The president has taken action to show that he is serious about the fight against corruption. Not only past but present. He is acting regardless of the ethnicity or affiliation,” he said.

Kabimba said this on ZNBC’s Sunday interview.

UNZA lecturer questions criteria used to appoint principal PR officers in ministries

UNZA lecturer questions criteria used to appoint principal PR officers in ministries

UNZA MEDIA LECTURER, DR. BASIL HAMUSOKWE writes;

May I congratulate all those that have been appointed to the new position of Principal PR Officers in government.  Most of them are friends that I have known for many years. Indeed, some of these individuals have very admirable work culture, and no doubt, the ministries stand to greatly benefit.

I rarely publicly share my views on such matters, but on this issue, I feel compelled.

As one of the people who have been advocating for professionalism in the PR industry, I have received this development with mixed feelings.

And I think that Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communications (ZIPRC) needs to carefully address it and guard from the potential entropy it is likely to cause in the PR industry.

Of course, government may have discretion over certain appointments, but now they should know that we have the ZIPRC Act that guides on some of these processes.

As such, government should have considered that PR positions are professional positions.

PR jobs should not be likened to political appointments such as those of District Commissioners or foreign service jobs.

By the way, was there a Commission that was appointed to review the Ministry establishments to create this/these position/s in line with both government and industry expectations?

Did this appointing authority even take into account issues of hierarchy, especially given that the Principal Officer is a relatively senior position in government?

How are these positions aligned with ZANIS Provincial Information Officers?

Let’s try to understand the sensitivity of some of the issues and information handled at this levels.

Don’t get me wrong. Indeed, it is a great move for the industry – one of the things we’ve been advocating for.

I am actually celebrating this move, but it’s the process that begs questions:

1. Was there a public advertisement for these positions?

2. Do all of the appointees meet the required qualifications for these positions?

3. Are they in compliance with the ZIPRC Law, which mandates specific qualifications and affiliations? (Are they ZIPRC members?)

4. Was consideration given to the promotion of existing PROs?

What will be the fate of the long-serving PROs within the various ministries and provinces?

It seems they will be forced to report to the new Principal Officers regardless of qualifications.

SH00TING INCIDENT: THREE CHINESE NATIONALS ARRESTED

Three Chinese nationals have been arrested as investigations continue into the shooting incidents that occurred on 12th December, 2024 at Sun City and Zambezi Mall.

The accident resulted in two other Chinese nationals getting injured.

Those arrested are 41-year-old Heming Yang of Makeni, 36-year-old Feng Chen of Chudleigh and Yang Houcai, 43, of Los Angeles Road.

Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, says Yang disclosed that on 12th December, 2024 around 23:00 hours, he handed over his pistol to his friend, Yang Tahan, who is believed to have fled to Tanzania en route to China.

Tahan is said to have recklessly fired three shots into the air, causing terror and alarm.

Hamoonga notes that Heming Yang has since been charged and arrested for the offense of failing to secure a Firearm contrary to Section 38(3) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 110 of the Laws of Zambia and remains in custody at Chelston Police Station.

Meanwhile, during his interrogation, Chen revealed that on the night of the incident, he responded to a distress call from his elder brother, Can Chen, who reported being attacked by a group of Chinese nationals armed with pistols at Zambezi Mall.

He stated that in an attempt to defend himself and his brother, he used his pistol, to shoot at their attackers, injuring Yang Houcai, one of the assailants.

Hamoonga says Chen has been charged and arrested for Acts Intended to Cause Grievous Harm contrary to Section 224 of the Penal Code Act, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Meanwhile, Houcai who was summoned for interviews after being discharged from Medland Medical Center revealed that he was in possession of a firearm during the incident and actively participated in the violence, firing shots at the victims.

He has been charged and arrested for two counts of Acts Intended to Cause Grievous Harm contrary to Section 224 of the Penal Code Act, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia and currently in custody at Chelston Police Station.

Hamoonga says all the suspects are scheduled to appear in court soon.

Woman rewrites story after biological father defiled her for 8 years

SCARS of A Brave Girl is the title of her newly launched book where she tells the abominable story of how her biological father allegedly found pleasure in defiling her from the age of six.

28 year old Faith Kamanga wrote the story to advocate for the girls who may be going through what she went through at a tender age.

She went back to the past, recalling the trauma as the man meant to protect her reportedly turned into a ‘monster’ that destroyed her childhood and took away her innocence.

According to Kamanga, the time molestation started she was living with her dad and three young brothers.

She narrated that her father decided to turn her into a mini wife from the age of six up until she was 14.

Kamanga told Kalemba that after eight years of being sexually molested, she gathered the courage to tell her mother who reported the matter to the police but the matter developed short legs as her father only spent a week behind bars.

“My dad got me from mum when I was three years old. In the process, at the age of six, he began to touch me in a way that no child would be touched… the abuse continued until when I was 14 years old,” narrated Faith.

“The scars of my father’s abuse ran deep, twisting and warping my sense of self worth. I began to believe that I was to blame, that my very existence provoked his predatory urges, I had carried the burden of his sins on my slender shoulders, a heavy burden that threatened to crush my fragile spirit. As I grew older, the darkness of my father’s abuse followed me like a shadow, staining every facet of my life.”

She shared that as she grew up, she struggled to form healthy relationships as she was living with the trauma.

“I battled demons that whispered lies of unworthiness and shame in my ears, poisoning my thoughts and actions. But beneath the veil of sorrow and despair,” she said.

The 28 year old has since used her pain to encourage her fellow survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and those going through the trauma but may not have the courage to speak out.

“I want to give hope to young girls who have been through what I went through, I also want to give hope to those who may be going through what I went through so they can speak out and tell the world. Young girls are being sexually abused by older men and that’s not fair to the girls. It’s possible to come out of the pain and live a fulfilling life,” stated Kamanga.

She urged survivors and victims to come out in the open and share their stories so the perpetrators can be brought to book.

Faith Kamanga completed her secondary education in 2013 and has since faced challenges to go to tertiary education.

Despite the trauma he reportedly left in his child, Kamanga’s father lives scot free in Livingstone…https://kalemba.news/entertainment/lifestyle/2024/12/17/woman-rewrites-story-after-biological-father-defiled-her-for-8-years/

UPND’S REPRESSIVE TACTICS, A TOXIC LEGACY IN ZAMBIA – Chanoda Ngwira

UPND’S REPRESSIVE TACTICS, A TOXIC LEGACY IN ZAMBIA

By Chanoda Ngwira F

The continued arrests and persecution of opposition leaders under the New Dawn Government signal a deeply troubling trend that not only undermines democratic norms but also cultivates a toxic political environment in Zambia.

Prominent figures like Hon. GBM, Hon. Bowman Lusambo, Hon. Chilangwa, Mayor Chifumbe, and most recently Hon. Chitotela have been jailed in what appears to be an orchestrated campaign to silence dissent.

Such actions are not merely authoritarian, they represent a dangerous precedent that sets the stage for potential reckoning in the future. The insatiable hunger to suppress opposition voices only serves to escalate tensions and sow division among an already strained populace.

The UPND’s relentless offensive against political adversaries distracts from the pressing issues plaguing the nation, such as rampant tribalism and regionalism. As Zambians continue to grapple with socio-economic hardships, the government appears more consumed by vendetta than by solutions.

Jailing opposition leaders will not alleviate the calamities Zambians face, instead, it exacerbates the cycle of animosity and resentment. The people are yearning for constructive dialogue and meaningful reforms, yet the government remains entrenched in its bitterness, prioritizing repression over unity.

History has shown that political repression often leads to backlash. The New Dawn Government’s tactics could lead to an inevitable backlash, whereby the very architects of hostility will come to regret their actions. The heavy toll of their current path symbolized by a metaphorical open cheque, will inevitably be paid, as their attempts to entrench power through intimidation backfire.

Zambians demand leaders who genuinely represent their interests, not those who seek to quash dissent and entrench division. It is high time the UPND shifts focus from persecution to collaboration in order to heal the rifts within society and confront the real challenges facing the nation.

Constitutional Court Judges: The Masters of Judicial Acrobatics- Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

Constitutional Court Judges: The Masters of Judicial Acrobatics

By Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

In the grand theater of Zambian democracy, where laws are sacred and justice is a pillar of governance, a group of unsung heroes deserves recognition—the Constitutional Court judges. These esteemed legal minds have revolutionized the art of interpretation, proving that the constitution is not carved in stone but can bend, twist, and somersault depending on the day, mood, or political climate. Their remarkable performance in handling the eligibility case of former President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu deserves nothing short of a standing ovation.

Consistency: Who Needs It?

The Constitutional Court judges have boldly rejected the notion that consistency is the hallmark of sound jurisprudence. Why stick to earlier rulings when the law is clearly open to creative interpretation? In the case of Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the judges have proven that decisions are like fine wine—they only get better when revisited and reconsidered.

Their refusal to be bound by their previous rulings is a true act of judicial courage. Why be predictable when you can surprise the nation with decisions that defy logic? The art of U-turns is not for the faint of heart, and these judges have mastered it with finesse.

The Art of Judicial Innovation

Constitutional provisions are often viewed as clear and straightforward, but Zambia’s Constitutional Court judges understand that true genius lies in innovation. Faced with Dr. Lungu’s eligibility case, they dusted off the rulebook and rewrote it—because why let old decisions stand in the way of progress?

By upholding one ruling yesterday and bending it today, the judges have embraced flexibility as a virtue. After all, laws are living things—they must evolve, adapt, and sometimes conveniently forget their own past. This bold approach ensures that every constitutional question becomes a thrilling guessing game for the nation.

Independence: A Shifting Concept

Judicial independence is often celebrated as the court’s guiding principle, but the Constitutional Court judges have taught us that independence, much like eligibility rulings, is a flexible concept. Their decisions demonstrate an uncanny ability to align with unspoken winds of influence—whether those winds blow from the corridors of power or elsewhere.

It takes extraordinary skill to craft rulings that balance legal acrobatics with political convenience. Yet, these judges have excelled at delivering decisions that leave both lawyers and laymen scratching their heads. Is it a legal precedent? Is it politics? Is it divine inspiration? Only the Constitutional Court judges know.

Legal Drama: Entertainment for All

Under the leadership of the Constitutional Court, Zambia’s judiciary has embraced its role as a provider of national entertainment. The eligibility case of Dr. Lungu has been a blockbuster event, filled with suspense, unexpected plot twists, and a cliffhanger conclusion that would put any soap opera to shame.

Citizens across Zambia have been glued to their radios and television screens, captivated by the sheer unpredictability of the court’s rulings. Who says the judiciary can’t deliver drama? Forget Netflix—Zambia’s Constitutional Court is where the real action is.

A Bold Legacy of Ambiguity

The hallmark of any great institution is the legacy it leaves behind, and the Constitutional Court judges are building a legacy that will endure for generations. Their rulings—opaque, inconsistent, and sometimes incomprehensible—are ensuring that future legal scholars, politicians, and ordinary citizens remain forever confused about the constitution.

By refusing to be bound by the weight of earlier rulings, they have created a precedent of non-precedent. Who needs clarity when ambiguity can keep everyone on their toes? Their decisions serve as a powerful reminder that the law is not about certainty—it’s about endless possibilities.

Conclusion: The Heroes Zambia Deserves

In handling the eligibility case of former President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the Constitutional Court judges have shown us that failure is not a setback—it’s a strategy. Their ability to interpret, reinterpret, and then reinterpret again is nothing short of extraordinary. They have proven that rulings are not about consistency or logic but about keeping the nation guessing.

While critics may grumble about “credibility” and “judicial integrity,” the Constitutional Court has risen above such petty concerns. Their brilliance lies in their unpredictability, their boldness in rewriting their own decisions, and their tireless commitment to keeping Zambians entertained and bewildered.

So let us celebrate these judicial acrobats, the guardians of constitutional chaos, and the architects of Zambia’s legal uncertainty. To the Constitutional Court judges: you are the heroes Zambia didn’t know it needed. Bravo, your honors. Bravo.

Keep Away from Emmanuel Mwamba

Thabo Kawana warns newly appointed Principal Public Relations officials

●Beware of Emmanuel Mwamba
●Keep away from Emmanuel Mwamba
●Do not leak information to Emmanuel Mwamba
● Watch your association with Emmanuel Mwamba
● Do not become his greatest source of confidential information.

Thabo Kawana wrote;

A WELCOME AND WORD OF CAUTION TO PRINCIPAL PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICERS.

To all newly employed Principal Public Relations Officers most of whom are on this platform DAZ, congratulations on your appointments.

It is an understatement to say well deserved because simply, you are the best, cream de la cream and have worked hard over the years to build your careers.

As your Permanent Secretary and Controlling Officer, I have a little word for you. Your inclusion in Government has shot you straight to the round high table where decisions are made and issues including confidential matters are discussed as part of Management and you will attend Senior Management meetings.

This has cured the long standing complaint that PROs have had over the years that they are not part of Management and do not attend Senior Management meetings yet are expected to project the doings and activities of line Ministries.

Your selection was thorough, deliberate and non discriminatory, you have not only been drawn from different sexes, from all regions of the country and different age ranges but, you have also been drawn from across political divide despite some of you been perceived by the public as sympathisers of opposition political parties and perceived further to be championing the said ideals and views of the opposition. For the New Dawn Government, opportunities are never on partisan or regional lines as was the case in the recent past under the PF Government.

In this Government you simply have to be a Zambian first and qualified for the job secondly. No other consideration.

I am also aware that most if not all of you are known to and associate with our country’s biggest liar and propagandist Emmanuel. I now caution you on this platform to carefully watch your association with Emmanuel.

I have further noted with a pinch of salt the happiness and excitement of Emmanuel at the news of your appointment. Emmanuel does not see any good in what this Government does and always condemns, lies and spins into the negative every action this Government takes. But on your appointments, he is as excited as a little child that has seen a parent come home with giggies and sweets.

This is because in his thinking (and I know him very well), you will become his greatest source of confidential information from Senior Management meetings across various Government Ministries and Provinces. Information he is excitedly expecting to use and spin in the negative against Government in his continued crusade of telling lies and misleading the people that believe in his lies.

I caution you to stay away from Emmanuel and not volunteer any iota of information he may ask from you, leaking Government confidential information is a serious offense and is dismissible. Be warned!!!!

Congratulations again and welcome to GRZ, this is the people’s Government and we work for the people as espoused by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia Dr Hakainde Hichilema. We work including over late hours and over weekends in most cases as duty calls. We are in a hurry to bring development to the people of Zambia.

Whilst theirs (Masholi)
Was parte after parte after parte, ours is hard work after hard work and more hard work.

SO COME, LET US BUILD US A NATION AND WORK FOR THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA.

Why the UPND is Poised to Win in Kawambwa and Lead Zambia Beyond 2026

0
Why the UPND is Poised to Win in Kawambwa and Lead Zambia Beyond 2026

The Kawambwa by-election is a significant test for the United Party for National Development (UPND), although its outcome may not predict the 2026 elections. The election underscores the party’s growing acceptance and continued push to deliver sustainable development to Zambians. Under President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership, the UPND’s achievements and vision have positioned it as the leading force for transformation and peace in Zambia.

UPND’s Transformational Achievements

The UPND government has achieved notable milestones that directly impact Zambians’ daily lives, demonstrating its commitment to inclusive growth and long-term development. These achievements include:

  • Public Service Recruitment: Over 51,000 teachers and health workers have been recruited to address critical gaps in education and healthcare. Recruitment of soldiers has reinforced national security, ensuring a peaceful and stable environment conducive to growth.
  • Free Education: By introducing free education up to secondary school, the UPND has eased financial pressures on families and improved access to learning opportunities, particularly for underprivileged communities.
  • Infrastructure Development: The Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway is a flagship infrastructure project that promises to enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, and reduce travel time for Zambians. Other infrastructure projects, including rural road rehabilitation, are improving access to markets and services in underserved areas.
  • Mining Sector Investment: Strategic partnerships, such as the $1.3 billion agreement with First Quantum Minerals, are revitalizing the mining industry, creating jobs, and boosting economic activity.
  • Constituency Development Fund (CDF): Significant increases in the CDF allocation have empowered local authorities to implement region-specific projects, fostering grassroots development.
  • Peace and Stability: Zambia continues to uphold its reputation as one of Africa’s most peaceful nations, with the UPND emphasizing unity and constructive dialogue to resolve political and social challenges.
  • Agriculture Development: Enhanced subsidies and irrigation initiatives are driving food security and improving rural livelihoods, with smallholder farmers benefiting from increased support.

The Significance of Kawambwa

While the outcome of the Kawambwa by-election may not directly determine the 2026 elections, it represents a microcosm of the UPND’s expanding footprint in Zambia. Historically, Kawambwa and similar constituencies have leaned toward opposition parties. However, the UPND’s developmental policies and tangible results are resonating with voters, even in regions that once seemed unreachable.

President Hichilema’s Vision Beyond 2026

President Hakainde Hichilema embodies the UPND’s focus on transformative, long-term policies that prioritize the nation over short-term political gains. His leadership has been marked by:

  • Economic Stabilization: Successful debt renegotiations have restored international confidence, unlocking resources for infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
  • Accountability and Transparency: HH has set a high standard for governance, reducing corruption and ensuring public resources are utilized effectively.
  • Visionary Leadership: By prioritizing education, healthcare, and infrastructure, Hichilema has laid the groundwork for sustainable national development that will benefit future generations.
The Opposition’s Challenges

In contrast, Zambia’s opposition parties face significant hurdles:

  • Fragmentation: The opposition lacks unity and a coherent strategy, weakening its ability to present a viable alternative to the UPND.
  • Lack of Vision: Criticism of the UPND has been largely reactionary, with few substantive proposals for addressing Zambia’s challenges.
  • Nondevelopmental Focus: The opposition has failed to prioritize key sectors like healthcare, education, and infrastructure in its rhetoric, leaving voters unconvinced of its capacity to govern.

Beyond 2026: Building on Success

The UPND’s policies and programs provide a solid foundation for continued growth and development beyond 2026. Major projects, like the Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway and the free education initiative, symbolize the party’s commitment to improving lives and creating opportunities for all Zambians.

Re-electing President Hichilema and the UPND in 2026 would ensure continuity and prevent disruptions to Zambia’s progress. Starting over with new, unproven leadership would risk derailing the gains made over the past few years.

Conclusion: A Future of Hope and Progress

The Kawambwa by-election is not merely a contest for a parliamentary seat; it is a measure of the UPND’s acceptance across Zambia. Under President Hichilema’s steady leadership, the party has achieved remarkable progress, from employing public servants to delivering peace, stability, and infrastructure development.

As Zambians head toward 2026, the UPND offers a compelling case for continued leadership. Its record of achievements, coupled with its long-term vision, makes it the best choice to guide Zambia toward a brighter, more prosperous future.

Thabo Kawana: The Permanent Secretary Who Turned Public Service Into Political Theater- Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

Professionalism is Optional with Thabo Kawana

Thabo Kawana: The Permanent Secretary Who Turned Public Service Into Political Theater

By Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

In the twisted corridors of Zambia’s civil service, where neutrality was once held as a sacred principle, one man has emerged as a trailblazer, rewriting the rules of governance.

Thabo Kawana, the Permanent Secretary for Information, has transformed his position from a symbol of impartial service to a stage for partisan farce.

With flair, cunning, and unshakable loyalty to the ruling party, Kawana has redefined what it means to be a civil servant, proving once and for all that professionalism is merely optional under this government.

A PS and a Cadre: Breaking Boundaries

The role of a Permanent Secretary is, by design, to remain above the fray of politics—a steady hand guiding national administration. But Thabo Kawana has bravely rejected this outdated notion. Why be neutral when you can be a party operative with a title? Kawana has single-handedly shown that you can serve two masters: the public (in theory) and the ruling party (in reality).

In a move that should be studied in political science courses, Kawana has seamlessly merged his bureaucratic powers with political allegiance. Where others hide their partisan leanings, Kawana wears his UPND loyalty like a badge of honor, proving that true innovation lies in blurring the line between the civil service and party structures.

The JJ Leaked Audio: A Masterstroke of “Negotiation”

In what can only be described as a stroke of genius, Kawana’s name surfaced in the now-infamous leaked audio featuring Hon. Jay Jay Banda. Allegedly caught pressuring JJ to exonerate his abductors in exchange for his freedom, Kawana displayed a skillset far beyond the ordinary: negotiation by coercion.

Why wait for due process, court hearings, or police investigations when you can “persuade” victims to rewrite the truth? Kawana understands that justice is slow and cumbersome; his alleged actions streamline the system with ruthless efficiency. By allegedly offering JJ freedom in return for silence, Kawana has pioneered a new brand of conflict resolution—swift, behind closed doors, and entirely devoid of accountability.

Who needs law enforcement when you have Kawana’s brand of quiet diplomacy? If this is not innovation, what is?

Misinformation Management: The Ministry’s New Mandate

As Permanent Secretary for Information, Kawama has brilliantly redefined the ministry’s role. Under his leadership, the ministry has abandoned outdated ideals like transparency, truth, and open communication. Instead, he has embraced a far more pragmatic philosophy: control the narrative at all costs.

Unfavorable reports? Buried.
Critical voices? Silenced.
The messy truth? Repackaged as a tidy UPND-approved version of reality.

Kawama understands that in politics, the public does not need to know the truth—they only need to hear the right story. By turning the Ministry of Information into a propaganda powerhouse, he ensures that citizens receive carefully curated “alternative facts” while dissenting voices are muffled into oblivion. Bravo, PS Kawana, for making misinformation an art form.

Loyalty Above All Else

Thabo Kawama has shattered the illusion that the civil service is there to serve the people first. He reminds us that loyalty to the party supersedes all else, including duty, integrity, and conscience. Kawana’s steadfast devotion to the ruling UPND—whether through alleged backroom deals, strategic silencing, or media manipulation—is a marvel to behold.

Future Permanent Secretaries should take notes: true service lies in serving the party that holds the reins, not the public that pays the bills. Kawana’s performance ensures that he will be remembered as the patron saint of partisan bureaucracy.

Power Management: Turning Victims Into Advocates

The JJ saga, where Kawana allegedly “persuaded” Hon. Banda to exonerate his abductors, is more than just a scandal—it is a masterclass in the creative use of power. Only Kawama could turn a victim of abduction into a public advocate for his captors. This is not just coercion; it’s a psychological chess move of epic proportions.

By skipping courts and rendering the police irrelevant, Kawana has shown aspiring power brokers that the true genius lies in managing narratives, controlling victims, and shaping outcomes behind closed doors. It’s leadership at its most creative and cunning.

Conclusion: Kawana, The Architect of Modern Governance

Thabo Kawana has elevated himself to the pantheon of Zambian political brilliance. He is not just a Permanent Secretary—he is a visionary, a political strategist, and a master manipulator of both truth and power. His legacy will be remembered as a groundbreaking period in which the civil service fully embraced its role as an arm of the ruling party.

From the leaked audio scandal to his unapologetic loyalty to UPND interests, Kawama has redefined public service as a theater for political influence. He has proven that neutrality is obsolete, integrity is optional, and coercion is a tool for progress.

So let us raise our voices in celebration of Thabo Kawana—the Permanent Secretary who broke all the rules, buried the truth, and emerged as a champion of party-first governance.

Bravo, Thabo Kawana. Your legacy of “service” will echo through the halls of history. Bravo!

WE ARE READY FOR KAWAMBWA POLLS-ECZ

KAWAMBWA -The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ says it is ready to deliver a free, fair and credible Kawambwa Central Parliamentary by-election that conforms to internationally accepted standards.

During a stakeholders meeting at St. Mary’s Secondary School today, ECZ Commissioner, Major Vincent Mukanda said that the electoral body has put modalities in place to ensure that smooth polls for the vacant Kawambwa Parliamentary seat are guaranteed.

Major Mukanda further stated that it was the wish of the Commission to ensure an election that reflects the will of the people of Kawambwa Central constituency.

The Commission further urged political players to ensure they conducted their campaigns in line with applicable laws as stipulated in the Electoral Code of Conduct (ECC).

Major Mukanda stressed that the fairness of voting happens on poll day and the most critical part is when a registered voter democratically cast the vote chosing the candidate of choice.

The vast Kawambwa Central constituency, also called the *”land of plenty”* due to its favourable rainfall pattern and huge swaths of fertile land with 57 polling stations and 9 wards; with 27,882 registered voters.

The Kawambwa Central Parliamentary by-election has been necessitated by the conviction of Nickson Chilangea for malicious damage by the Kawambwa Magistrates Court on 23 July, 2024.

Mr Chilangwa was the Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament for Kawambwa Central and served as Luapula Province Minister.

In this election, the ruling UPND has fielded Nason Musonda as its candidate, while the Tonse Alliance has fielded Danstan Mwansa under the Peter Chanda’s  New Congress Party-NCP.

The Commission thanked all the stakeholders for being of service to the nation and encouraged the spirit of peace and oneness to prevail before, during and after the elections.

New PRO in Government, an Attempt to Bridge the Gap in Information Dissemination- Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

By Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

New PRO in Government, an Attempt to Bridge the Gap in Information Dissemination

I’ve seen a report that states that Government has appointed Principle Public Relations Officers in Ministries, Provinces and other Spending Agencies.

I guess this is one of the key recommendations from the Kenyan Gina Din Corporate Communications firm to the state communication team grappling with delivering effective communication.

I have always advocated for a decentralised and devolved communication infrastructure that overcomes the burdens and inefficiencies of the Ministry of Information.

That Ministry is a dated and legacy of centralised communication strategies of communist governments.

There have been attempts to modernise the Ministry of Information by various new democratic governments to adapt it to be a crucial government department responsible for disseminating information about government policies, schemes, and programs to the public through various media channels like radio, television, print media, and social media.

Let me NOT digress.

The appointment of these officers will be effective if they will be given room to operate and will be allowed to sit in crucial senior management meetings.

This helps in building background and institutional memory.

Trouble is that executives such as CEOs, Ministers and Permanent Secretaries treat information or Public Relations Officers as their Chola boys/girls or protocal officers.

Further there is a tendency to hide information or exclude information officers and PRO from the management of the organisations and key meetings but only called upon  like fire tenders, to quench the raging fires of scandal.

Further, this will only work if there is effective coordination, team work and excellent strategy.

Under the Patriotic Front Government, a new layer of more information officers were added to district councils, and foreign missions.

Otherwise, this initiative will join the ranks of many information outlets and layers of bureaucracy currently failing to communicate and have consequently become moribund.

Above all, the top must be committed to tell the truth and further deliver public service and projects for these teams to shine.

Below is the story.

GOVERNMENT APPOINTS PRINCIPAL PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICERS

Miles Sampa PF faction President has expelled Kantanshi Hon. Anthony Mumba MP from PF

PF DRAMA: Now, Miles expells Anthony Mumba

In the continuing drama featuring an all-villain PF cast, matero member of parliament Miles Sampa has expelled fellow lawmaker Anthony Mumba of Kantanshi Constituency.

According to a letter which Sampa has signed off as party president, Mumba has been ejected from the party for issuing disparaging remarks to both current and former party leaders.

Sampa stated that such statements from Mumba had brought the party into perpetual public idiom and disrepute.

“Consequently, and to curb disunity catalyst in the party, I formerly notify you that you have been with immediate effect been expelled as member of the Patriotic Front due to your continued indiscipline and gross misconduct in the party,” the letter reads in party.

Mumba’s expulsion comes in the wake of his advice to 2026 Tonse Alliance presidential candidate Edgar Lungu who the Constitutional Court declared in ineligible to contest any presidential election having been voted and sworn in twice.

Since losing power in 2021, the PF’s internal power struggle has been a never-ending soap opera, keeping Zambians entertained more than Zambezi Magic televised local telenovelas, Zuba and Mpali combined.

With eight candidates vying for the party’s top spot, each having paid a whopping K200,000 nomination fee, one would think the elective conference would be a priority.

But the party’s leadership is still up in the air, with Miles Sampa, Edgar Lungu, and Robert Chabinga all acting as presidents of the party.

The drama has been unfolding rapidly, with Sampa being expelled from the party by the Central Committee, citing his disregard for party protocol. But Sampa hasn’t taken the expulsion lying down, dismissing the decision as baseless and continuing to act as party president.

Meanwhile, Chabinga has been making moves, expelling top party officials, including Lungu…https://kalemba.news/…/pf-drama-now-miles-expells…/

Court directs Lusambo to continue defense in case involving his Chamba Valley mansion

THE plan by former Lusaka province minister Bowman Lusambo to hamper criminal proceedings relating to his fancy Chamba valley house and six incomplete flats, has failed, as the Economic and Financial Crimes Court has ruled that he will conclude his defense.

Lusaka Chief resident magistrate Davies Chibwili said Lusambo’s claim that he did not take plea when the EFCC rules were effected, is annoying and lacks merit.

Lusambo had taken the court aback when he curtailed his defense in protestation that he never took plea for his possession charges under the Economic and Financial Crimes rules of Statutory Instrument no. 10 of 2024.

He said his proceedings were a nullity and the court can neither convict nor acquit him.

“I never took plea on count one and two. These charges were under the indictment before your sister, magistrate Faidess Hamaundu that’s where the ACC got these charges,” said Lusambo.

“According to Rule 4(2) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Rules, I was supposed to take plea after the Rules were operational on March 1, 2024.”

Ruling on the matter, Lusaka chief resident magistrate Davies Chibwili said it was surprising that the defence have questioned the legality of the proceedings.

“The whole case has been dogged with numerous applications from the defence but the accused did start his defence,” he said.

“The accused took plea on July 26, 2023 and we then proceeded to trial and by the time the EFCC rules were coming in, in March, 2024, the prosecution had already brought eight witnesses.”

He said there was no need to take fresh plea and file witness statements for witnesses who had already testified.

“The position taken by the defence is frivolous and vexatious and the application is dismissed for lack of merit,”directed magistrate Chibwili.

He adjourned the case to January 10, 11 and 12, 2025, for continuation of defence.

In this matter the jailed former Kabushi member of parliament is facing two counts of possessing property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

It is alleged that Between May 1, 2015 and December 31, 2021 Lusambo possessed property no. F/609/E/44/B/9 which is a single storey four-bedroomed house and a guest wing and an incomplete block of six flats which are suspected to be tainted…https://kalemba.news/…/court-directs-lusambo-to…/

Open Letter to Hon. Peter Kapala: Stop the Electoral Malpractice in Kawambwa- Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

Open Letter to Hon. Peter Kapala

Stop the Electoral Malpractice in Kawambwa

Dear Hon. Peter Kapala,

I am compelled to write this letter with deep concern and indignation regarding a video circulating in the public domain. In this video, you are seen addressing a group of electorates in Kawambwa ahead of the upcoming by-election, and you are heard making promises to women and youths, including offering K300 to facilitate the opening of cooperatives. While the idea of supporting cooperatives may seem commendable in principle, the timing and manner in which you have chosen to do this raises serious ethical, legal, and moral questions.

You, as a senior government official, are well aware that offering gifts, money, or financial inducements during a campaign period is an outright violation of Zambia’s electoral laws and international democratic standards. This is not merely inappropriate—it is illegal. Your actions risk undermining the integrity of the electoral process, which must remain free and fair, built on the competition of ideas and values, not manipulation through material incentives.

It is shocking that, as a sitting minister, you could display such audacity and complete disregard for the law. As much as you want to campaign for your candidate, the route you have chosen is unlawful and disgraceful. Zambia is governed by laws that demand strict adherence from all citizens, especially those in leadership positions. Your behavior is not only an abuse of your office but also a betrayal of the Zambian people’s trust.

Zambia is not your personal property or a private estate to be managed at your convenience. It is a nation with established laws and principles that must be upheld by all. Leaders like you should never advocate for others to follow the rules while breaking them whenever it suits your political agenda. Such double standards are not only hypocritical but also deeply damaging to the country’s democratic fabric.

The upcoming by-election in Kawambwa, necessitated by the questionable and unlawful incarceration of Hon. Nickson Chilangwa, is already a contentious issue. For you to further compromise the credibility of the process by engaging in actions that amount to voter bribery is reckless and unacceptable.

Hon. Kapala, leadership is about integrity, accountability, and service to the people. By acting in this manner, you have undermined these principles. The Zambian people deserve better—leaders who respect the rule of law, uphold democratic values, and serve the public without bias or corruption.

I, therefore, demand that you immediately address this issue publicly, clarify your actions, and take full responsibility for your misconduct. Failure to do so will not only erode public trust in your leadership but also serve as a stain on the very government you represent. The Zambian people are watching, and we will not tolerate any further abuse of power or subversion of our democracy.

The time for impunity is over. Zambia belongs to its people, not to those who manipulate its systems for their own benefit.

Sincerely,
Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

Open Letter to President Hakainde Hichilema

Open Letter to President Hakainde Hichilema

Mr. President,

It is said, Don’t trouble trouble, for trouble will double trouble you. The same machinery you wield today in governance was used by your predecessors, yet history shows that the will of the people always prevails. Leadership is not about exerting control or silencing dissent it is about service and uplifting the lives of the majority who are grappling in abject poverty.

Zambians are watching. Words and rhetoric, however eloquent, do not put food on the table, nor do they restore hope to the many who feel abandoned by promises made. You campaigned on the message of change, but change for whom? We ask, not to challenge, but to remind you that leadership is a privilege bestowed by the people.

If you do not intend to serve the majority, the poor, the struggling, the forgotten why then choose to lead? Wisdom dictates that life is fleeting, and in the end, it is not power or wealth that matters, but the legacy one leaves behind. What will yours be, Mr. President?

Zambians have learned their lessons well. We have seen governments come and go, each promising to prioritize our resources, yet leaving us further impoverished. Leadership demands responsibility, not excuses. Our natural wealth, if managed prudently and equitably, has the potential to transform this nation for generations. Instead, we see resources exploited for the benefit of a few while the majority languish in poverty.

Mr. President, remember that a little wisdom is worth more than gold. Your role is to unite and uplift, not to divide or burden. Leadership demands humility, accountability, and action. The contradictions in your governance grand promises followed by scandals, cosmetic projects tainted with corruption betray the trust of the Zambian people.

Take, for example, the Public Private Partnership (PPP) agreements. A stretch of fewer than 30 kilometers from Solwezi Turnoff to Kasumbalesa Border has been handed to a contractor for toll collection for over ten years. This move has killed business at Kasumbalesa, stifling growth and punishing the very entrepreneurs you claim to support. High toll fees, coupled with minimal oversight, speak of misplaced priorities and corruption.

Once bitten, twice shy, Mr. President. Do not assume the people are oblivious or powerless. The anger is growing, and the consequences for failing the people will be evident at the ballot box. The solution is simple humble yourself and lead with integrity. Focus on practical, transparent governance and policies that will uplift the lives of majority, not a select few.

Zambia deserves better!

Yours sincerely,
Abraham Simpamba

Jamie Foxx speaks out after being struck by glass in Beverly Hills birthday altercation

Jamie Foxx has spoken out after being struck by a glass during an altercation at Mr. Chow, a Beverly Hills restaurant, while celebrating his 57th birthday.

“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth. He had to get stitches and is recovering,” a spokesperson told USA TODAY on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Oscar-winning actor addressed the incident on social media, sharing a message of resilience and gratitude with his followers.

“The devil is busy … but I’m too blessed to be stressed,” Foxx wrote on Instagram. “The devil is a lie. Can’t win here … thank you to everybody that pray and check on me. When your light is shining bright … they try to bring you darkness — but they don’t know that you’re built for it.”

Foxx also thanked fans for supporting his Netflix comedy special, What Had Happened Was, which has climbed to the platform’s number one spot. “The lights have been shining bright … and huge thank yous to everyone that have watched and been inspired by What Had Happened Was. If you haven’t checked it out, please go check it out — it’s from my heart and my soul.”

The Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) reported that officers responded to a call shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday regarding a possible assault with a deadly weapon at Mr. Chow. Upon investigation, the report was deemed unfounded, and the incident was classified as a physical altercation between parties.

The department issued a statement confirming that a preliminary investigation had been conducted and a report documenting the battery had been filed. No arrests were made, but authorities emphasized their commitment to public safety and ongoing investigation into the matter.

Foxx has faced a tumultuous year, recently revealing details of a life-threatening medical emergency in 2023. The actor shared in his Netflix special that he suffered a brain bleed leading to a stroke, leaving him fighting for his life.

“It is a mystery,” Foxx said in the special, reflecting on the experience. “We still don’t know exactly what happened to me.”

“I’m the manager and I’m not good enough, simple as that” – Man City coach Pep Guardiola

Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola has admitted that he is “not good enough” to solve his club’s mounting problems after a 2 – 1 defeat to rival Manchester United which extended their dire run to eight losses in 11 games.

During the Sunday night clash, City led through Josko Gvardiol’s 36th-minute header but Matheus Nunes’s defensive lapse conceded an 88th-minute penalty, which Bruno Fernandes converted, before Amad Diallo’s winner just before the end of regulation time.

“I’m the boss, I’m the manager, I have to find solutions but I don’t find solutions,” he said in his press conference.

“This is a big club and when you lose eight [out of 11 games] something is wrong. You can say the schedule is tough or the injuries to players, but no.

“I’m the manager and I’m not good enough, simple as that. I have to find a way to talk to them, to train them in the way we need to play, to press the way we need to press.

“I’m not good enough. I’m not doing well. That is the truth.”

Guardiola signed a new two-year contract in November, saying he did not feel he could leave the club at a difficult time, but the crisis has spiralled since then and he is now facing questions over how and when he can reverse their fortunes.

“I’m here,” he said. “I’m responsible. It would be easy for me to say we lost because of this action or this player or this situation but football is a team game.

“I’m completely convinced in what I’m saying, that I’m not good enough to find a way for them to feel peace in their bodies and their minds. I want it desperately. I’m here to try and I will try again and again but that is the reality.”

Guardiola added: “I knew it would be a tough season but I didn’t expect so hard.”

Speaking to Sky Sports, Guardiola said: “This year, I would say many times this has unfortunately happened. We give away many things against Feyenoord and in games this season and at this level, it’s more difficult.

“We are not, I would say, nice in the way we play. Before it was so fluid and now we struggle for different reasons – of course for a lot of defeats – but we put everything in, the game was almost closed except for one chance for Bruno Fernandes.

“OK, they were a little better, more possession in the first half, but nothing special. But at the end, we give away the two goals and it’s more difficult.”

“It is what it is, what can I say? It is not about this action of a player or that, it is a tough season and it will be a tough season.

“We did not play at our best today because in some positions we are not at our best, we struggled, but it is what it is.

“Now we do not play for many things, but especially for the momentum that we have.

“We obviously need results to lift our mood, but it is getting worse and worse and the reality is it is like this. I am the manager of this club and I have to find a solution. And so far, I did not find it. This is the truth.”

Floyd Mayweather Says He Wasn’t Manhandled By Mob In London; This Is What Happened

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. has denied being manhandled when he was confronted by protesters in the Hatton Garden area in London.

The boxer and members of his entourage reportedly traveled to England to go shopping and were accosted by a mob that hurled some unfriendly words at him.

Footage of the incident, which appeared online, captured Mayweather in a green coat engaging with a large crowd of people on a street outside a jewelry store.

His security was seen preventing him from getting into his vehicle and instructed him to drive away from the scene. Reacting to the incident afterward, Mayweather said he was not jostled in any way.

“Let me set the record straight… there’s no truth to the rumors going around… I wasn’t punched or touched in any way. What you’re seeing is just my security doing their job to keep things under control,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I was in the U.K. for a quick 48-hour stop to do some shopping, and unfortunately, people let jealousy and negativity fuel false stories. It’s perfectly fine, and there’s nothing more to it,” he added.

In June, American rapper and singer Lil Uzi Vert and Floyd Mayweather were sued by a man who claimed he was assaulted by the duo and members of the boxing legend’s entourage.

The lawsuit, filed by Abdullah Ali, alleged that the incident occurred on June 27 last year in New York while Ali was trying to catch a glimpse of Mayweather’s trailer.

Ali’s attorneys stated that their client was recording the former world champion’s trailer unloading a Rolls-Royce when he was spotted by Lil Uzi Vert and members of Mayweather’s entourage.

According to Ali, he was then attacked by at least 10 men, who punched and kicked him for about a minute as he lay on the ground.

Lil Uzi Vert’s legal team denied the claims, indicating that the rapper does not know Floyd Mayweather and had no affiliation with Mayweather’s Money Team.

Possible ‘Name Change’ Amid Jay-Z Lawsuit Sparks Debate Among Beyoncé’s Fans

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are not new to rumors and headlines. Their relationship has weathered its share of turbulence, with rumors of infidelity and Jay-Z admitting to cheating on Beyoncé in a 2017 New York Times interview.

These past couple of weeks, they have moved from celebrating their baby girl Blue Ivy’s big TV and red carpet moment to Jay-Z being accused of an alleged rape.

This week a possible name change rumor has sparked debate after Forbes dropped Jay-Z’s last name from Beyoncé’s moniker in a recent listing of the year’s most powerful women.

The timing of Forbes’ decision to omit “Carter” in its feature on Beyoncé comes amid her husband facing a lawsuit accusing him of allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl alongside Diddy at a party in the year 2000.

This alleged incident took place following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

Both rappers have vehemently denied the claims, with Jay-Z issuing a scathing statement refuting the allegations.

Fans were quick to notice that Beyoncé was identified as “Beyoncé Knowles” rather than “Beyoncé Knowles-Carter,” fueling speculation of a potential name change.

While some fans rushed to Beyoncé’s defense, pointing out that Forbes has frequently used her maiden name in the past, others quickly voiced their surprise, theories, and speculations.

However, this fan’s explanation doesn’t entirely align, as Forbes has referred to her as “Beyoncé Knowles-Carter” just two months ago, during the launch of her whiskey brand, SirDavis.

Beyoncé, who has embraced the Carter name for over a decade, even touring as “Mrs. Carter” and naming her recent album Cowboy Carter, has not commented on the speculation.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé got married in 2008 and share three children: sensational Blue Ivy and six-year-old twins Rumi and Sir Carter.

Often referred to as a power couple, these two Black Hollywood powerhouses have long been pillars of the R&B and hip-hop worlds, celebrated for their artistic achievements and family legacy.

They share a combined estimated net worth of $3 billion.

FAZ IS SERVED: Kamanga & His Cronies Must Announce The Date Of Elective AGM In 7 Days

This morning, I delivered a letter asking the FAZ Executive Committee to respect the constitution and its councillors by announcing the date of the 2025 elective annual general meeting.

READ THE FULL LETTER & SEE ATTACHED

The FAZ General Secretary
Football House
Alick Nkhata Road
Lusaka

ATTEN: Reuben Kamanga

Dear sir,

Ref: Announcement of the 2025 FAZ elections and its road map

Refer as above.

As a Zambian football stakeholder, I am compelled to draw your attention to constitutional provisions of the FAZ which you are abrogating with impunity.

The four-year term of office for the current Executive Committee expires on February 28, 2025 as stipulated in Article 33(3) of the 2024 FAZ Constitution.

By operation of the FAZ Constitution, it is instructive that you give a 60-day notice to your members about the elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) which, to be precise, is December 28, 2024. These members serve the 20 million Zambians who contribute to the successful financing and administration of the game – so kindly note my vested interest as a stakeholder.

In view of the foregoing, I write to demand that you impress on your Executive Committee to convene the deferred meeting and devise the roadmap for this important event in our football.

Failure to timely call for this meeting borders on serious constitutional mischief and has financial implications against the association and individual executive committee members.

It is law in this country that public officers who stay in office beyond their mandate are liable to refund all allowances accrued to them during that period as guided by the Constitution Court in the case of the 63 ministers

You are hereby advised to show some courtesy and demonstrate respect to FAZ Councilors and the general public by announcing the date of the next AGM and provide a roadmap for the elections so that those who qualify to serve can start campaigning without looking behind their back.

Failure to comply with this public interest request will leave me with no options but to seek legal redress in an ordinary court which you and I are aware will attract FIFA sanctions for what is deemed as third-party interference but is still my inalienable
right to ensure public institutions such as yours are accountable and uphold the tenets of good governance.

Therefore, if you are true servants of the Zambian game, I beseech your office to comply by the FAZ constitution to avoid a legal rigmarole that has the potential to throw the careers of many Zambian players into jeopardy.

Yours in sport

SOUTH KOREA COURT BEGINS YOON’S IMPEACHMENT TRIAL PROCESS

SOUTH KOREA COURT BEGINS YOON’S IMPEACHMENT TRIAL PROCESS

South Korea’s constitutional court has begun trial proceedings for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol, who was suspended for declaring martial law and plunging his country into political turmoil.

MPs voted to impeach Yoon last Saturday, after his actions sparked widespread protests calling for him to step down.

The court now has six months to decide whether to remove Yoon or reinstate him.

Yoon’s ruling People Power Party (PPP) has been grappling with the fallout ever since, with its leader announcing his resignation on Monday.

While public hearings for Yoon’s impeachment trial could take months, the court is under pressure to decide quickly and bring an end to political uncertainty. Protesters have vowed to keep up their calls for Yoon’s removal during court proceedings.

In the previous two instances a South Korean president faced impeachment, the court reversed one decision and upheld the other.

Observers say what will complicate Yoon’s trial is the fact that the court only has six justices out of nine, as three had retired recently and have yet to be replaced.

If the court upholds impeachment in Yoon’s case, the country must hold fresh presidential elections within 60 days. In the meantime, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo is serving as acting president.

It is unclear if Yoon will take the stand himself during the court hearings.

He ignored a summons to meet prosecutors in Seoul on Sunday, and is set to be ordered in again for questioning. If he fails to come forward this week, police may move to arrest him.

Yoon has defended his decision to impose martial law, and after his impeachment he once again said he would fight until the end.

Minutes after the constitutional court convened on Monday morning, PPP leader Han Dong-hoon announced his resignation. [BBC News]

Oscar Pistorious is dating a new woman who bears a striking resemblance to the ex-girlfirend he murder£d

Oscar Pistorious is dating a new woman who bears a striking resemblance to the ex-girlfirend he murder£d.

Olympic and Paralympic sprint legend Oscar Pistorius, 38, was convicted in 2014 in the shooting de@th of model and law graduate Reeva Steenkamp, 29, at his South African home on Valentine’s Day 2013.

He was released in January 2024 but was placed on strict parole and must abide by certain rules.

Since his release nearly a year ago, Pistorius has reportedly found love again, according to the South African newspaper Netwerk24.

The mother of the South African model murdered by Oscar Pistorius has now sent a chilling warning to his new girlfriend, who looks so much like her de@d daughter.

“He was angry — and he still has a problem with anger,” June Steenkamp, 78, mother of his former girlfriend, told the Sun on Sunday, Dec 15.

Oscar dating Rita Greyling, 33, a business management consultant from Wakkerstroom, Mpumalanga, who is a long-term friend of the family.

Though details on their relationship are being kept private, sources close to the couple confirmed to Netwerk24 last week that they are romantically involved.

Steenkamp’s heartbroken mother has spoken out since the news of her daughter’s killer’s new romance broke and wants his girlfriend to be wary of his “red flag.”

“I don’t understand how she doesn’t see a red flag about him because he has not lost his temper problem,” June told the Sun.

“He was supposed to be under anger management when he was in jail and at one stage I stopped him coming out because I was annoyed that he wasn’t having treatment.”

The mother said she and her husband, Barry, convinced parole chiefs to block the killer’s release twice over fears he still posed a threat.

June, who founded the Reeva Steenkamp Foundation Against The Abuse of Women and Children, said she believes that Pistorius is “still a danger to women.”

“Reeva only knew him for three months and she was dead and he’s never confessed,” she shared.

“It’s not painful for me that he’s with this young woman — I’m just worried about her,” June added.

Simone Cowburn, 59, the older sister of Reeva expressed shock at reports that Oscar has found love again just months after leaving jail for her sister’s murder.

Simone, who doted on kid sister Reeva Steenkamp, wept yesterday, Dec. 15, as she read the story of Oscar not only beginning to rebuild his life but finding a new woman after serving only nine years behind bars.

Simone said at her home in Port Elizabeth, South Africa: “I am just looking at this woman’s photographs and I have goosebumps and shivers going down my spine at this moment.

“What shocks me is that she looks so much like my Reeva. She is the same build, the same face and hair, even the same eyes. Is he that sick that he wanted to find a lookalike?

“I have to ask myself that having killed Reeva did he want to replace her with another?

“I also have to ask myself how a woman can close her eyes at night and go to sleep with a man she knows fired four bullets that mutilate flesh into a woman he says he loved.

“Those bullets were Black Talon bullets that are illegal to even use on animals but he put one bullet in my Reeva’s head and three more into her body that did terrible things.

“How can you cuddle up to a man that you know has that trigger lurking inside him?

“It just goes to show me even more that he has no remorse for what he did to Reeva.

“Reeva found Oscar totally charming to start with for the first three months and no doubt the same as this woman does but then he changes and becomes more controlling.

“He became very possessive and Reeva wanted out but Oscar would not allow it. I will always be convinced she ended the relationship that night and he lost all control.

“If he couldn’t have her no-one could so he got his gun and shot her. He murdered her. Those were specialised bullets that mushroom on impact with the human flesh.

“This new woman knows a judge found him guilty of murd£r which means she must know that he has been found capable of doing that to a woman but she sleeps with him?

“I have nothing against her but will warn her to sleep with one eye open. He has inside him the potential to do again what he did to Reeva and I don’t want that ever repeated.

“He will always have anger issues and to a degree I can understand that having had such a tough childhood having his legs amputated at birth and his mum dy!ng when he was 15.

“His father couldn’t cope and he moved in with his uncle so life was tough for him and I get that but unfortunately the anger he has inside him boils over and it led to a murd£r.

“I know as part of his parole he has to go to anger management classes and gender-based v!olence classes but as far as I am concerned it is always somewhere there inside him.

“I am just so shocked he has chosen a woman that looks so like my Reeva. I can’t help thinking that having got rid of one Reeva he has gone out and got another” she said.

The Steenkamp family has always claimed Reeva was k!lled deliberately in a fit of temper after she fled to the bathroom of his home.

At his trial, Pistorius claimed he shot Steenkamp through the bathroom door of his luxury home because he thought she was a burglar.

Pistorius — once an international celebrity who became a household name in 2012 as the first double amputee to run in the Olympics — was initially sentenced to five years in jail for culpable hom!cide, but prosecutors appealed the light sentence, and he was resentenced to 13 years and five months.

The double amputee served over half of that sentence — only spending nine years behind bars.

Syria dictator Bashar al-Assad airlifted £200million cash to Russia in 21 flights before fleeing his country

0

Syria dictator Bashar al-Assad reportedly airlifted around £200 million in cash to Moscow in a two-year period when Syria was dependent on Russia for support.

The Financial Times uncovered records showing that Assad’s regime flew two tonnes of banknotes into Vnukovo airport in Moscow to be deposited at Russian banks between 2018 and 2019.

The shipments came at a time when Syria was dependant on Russia’s military support, including mercenaries from the Wagner group.

At the same time Assad’s family began buying hoards of luxury properties in Moscow, the FT reported.

Assad’s regime has been accused of looting Syria’s wealth and turning to criminal activity to finance the war against its own people.

It was also gathered that Assad’s regime transported huge shipments of US and euro banknotes into Russia between March 2018 and September 2019.

Russian trade records from Import Genius, an export data service, show that on in 2019, a plane carrying $10mn in $100 bills sent on behalf of Assad’s central bank landed in Vnukovo airport.

The central bank then airlifted in around €20mn in €500 notes in February 2019. There were 21 flights from March 2018 to September 2019 with money worth over $250million (USD).

According to the records, the transfers only started happening in 2018.

A person familiar with Syrian central bank data told the FT that foreign reserves were almost depleted by 2018.

Due to sanctions, the bank had to make payments in cash, they added.

It bought wheat from Russia and paid for money printing services and ‘defence’ expenses, the person said.

They said the central bank would pay according to what was available ‘in the vault’. When a country is completely surrounded and sanctioned, they have only cash’, they said.

Russian records show that exports from Russia to Syria took place in the years before and after the shipment of money, including new Syrian banknotes, secure paper and military components.

However, there is no record of the Russian lenders who received the banknotes and took any other shipments of cash from Syria or any other country.

Now even some former loyalists of the Assad regime have become angry at Assad’s escape to Moscow, seeing it as proof of his overriding self-interest.

In 2015, Russia brought its warplanes to bear down on what remained of the Syrian rebels and Islamist insurgents.

The ties between the two countries became deeper as Russian military advisers bolstered Assad’s war effort and Russian companies became part of Syria’s lucrative phosphate supply chain.

Over the past six years, people with insight into the regimes working said Assad and his associates seized control of the country’s troubled economy.

Asma al-Assad, first lady and ex-JP Morgan banker influenced international aid and oversaw a secretive presidential economic council.

The regime also generated money from international drug trafficking and fuel smuggling, according to the US.

Washington had previously sanctioned the regime for its cash transfers.

In 2015, The US treasury accused former Syrian central bank governor Adib Mayaleh and a central bank employee of facilitating bulk cash transfers for the regime to Russia.

Records show the cash delivered to Moscow in 2018 and 2019 was delivered to Russian Financial Corporation Bank, or RFK, a Russian lender based in Moscow controlled by Rosoboronexport, the Russian state arms export company.

In March 2018 records show Syria’s central bank also shipped $2mn to another Russian bank, TsMR Bank, which has also been sanctioned by the US.

This comes days after Russian President, Vladimir Putin’s allies confirmed that Russia helped President Bashar al-Assad flee Syria to Moscow after · Rebels seized power.

ECOWAS has given Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger a six-months to reconsider their decision to withdraw

0

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has given Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger a six-month window, from January 29 to July 29, 2025, to reconsider their decision to withdraw from the regional bloc.

Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga stated that the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Omar Touray, announced the decision on Sunday, December 15, in Abuja during the 66th Ordinary Session of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government.

“The Authority takes note of the notification by the Republic of Burkina Faso, Republic of Mali, and Republic of Niger of their decision to withdraw from ECOWAS. The Authority acknowledges that by the provisions of Article 91 of the revised ECOWAS Treaty, the three countries will officially cease to be members of ECOWAS from January 29, 2025,” Touray stated.

He added, “The Authority decides to set the period from January 29, 2025, to July 29, 2025, as a transitional period and to keep ECOWAS doors open to the three countries during the transition period.”

During this time, ECOWAS has extended the mandates of Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé and Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to mediate efforts to reintegrate the three nations.

Touray further noted, “The Authority directs the Council of Ministers to convene an Extraordinary Session during the second quarter of 2025 to consider and adopt both separation modalities and a contingency plan covering political and economic relations between ECOWAS and the Republic of Niger, Republic of Mali, and Burkina Faso.”

ECOWAS leaders commended the diplomatic efforts of President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, Presidents Gnassingbé and Faye, and other member states for their continued engagement with the three countries.

In his closing remarks, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity and commitment to the principles of ECOWAS.

“As we move forward to implement the outcomes of this Summit, let us remain united in our determination and steadfast in our commitment to the principles that bind us together as a Community. I call on all member states to redouble their efforts in ensuring that the decisions reached here translate into tangible benefits for our citizens,” Tinubu said.

He further called on leaders to work toward a peaceful, secure, and prosperous West Africa, grounded in ideals of freedom, justice, democracy, and good governance.

Tinubu also praised Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, referring to him as “Mr. Democrat,” and highlighted the significant contributions of outgoing African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Mahamat.
