Brutal Attack of Hon.  Jean Chisenga

Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba writes:

Brutal Attack of Hon. Jean Chisenga

Mr. President, has Inspector General of Police, Grapharl Musamba given you a report that your UPND Cadres brutally assaulted Mambilima MP, Hon.Jean Chisenga?

I know she is one of your biggest critics but your constitutional role as President of the Republic of Zambia mandates to protect all citizens from hatm and criminality including your severest critics.

And have you been told that this incidence occurred in the precinct of the National Assembly?

To this extent has your Speaker of the National Assembly, Nellie Mutti informed of the violation of parliamentary sacredness and sanctity by the UPND attacking her own member?

Have you arrested the perpetrators of this heinous crime?

Or you have chosen to defend and protect them like you do to perpetrators of similar political crimes?

Antonio questions where 15-hrs of electricity being generated is going to

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader Antonio Mwanza says while Zambians are suffering with only 3 hours of electricity supply daily, 15 hours of electricity being produced is unaccounted for.

President Hakainde Hichilema while in opposition denounced what he described as chipantepante and visionless leadership of then president Edgar Lungu’s administration for leading the country into loadshedding, during a season of drought, while countries such as Saudi Arabia which was in the desert had electricity.

However, under his administration, the country is facing the worst loadshedding ever experienced in history, despite the excellent rains from the 2024-2025 rain season.

But during his address to Parliament yesterday, President Hichilema blamed the lack of investment in the energy sector, and that the government was undertaking several projects aimed at enhancing energy generation in the country.

However, other administrations have in the past carried out development projects in the energy sector while maintaining stability in electricity generation, exception in very rare circumstances when the country has experienced serious droughts.

During the address, President Hichilema announced what have been observed as discriminatory policies where more energy would be provided to those in ‘kombonis’ while offering little to those in ‘mayadis’, a policy that has only been introduced two years after the blackouts started, and that has been denounced as appeasement to those in densely populated areas ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The President has been accused of coming up with these discriminatory policies after failing to find a solution he said he would find to the problem at hand.

Commenting on the crippling blackouts being endured by Zambians, Mwanza described Zambia as a country in crisis.

“ZESCO is generating 1,806 megawatts (MW) of power per day against a national demand of 2,400 MW per day. This represents about 75 percent of our national needs, which should translate into at least 18 hours of electricity supply every single day for the Zambian people,” Mwanza stated. “But what is the reality? Zambians are only receiving 3 hours of power per day while 15 hours of electricity is unaccounted for and sold outside the country.”

Mwanza described the state of affairs as unacceptable, wondering how the government expected the people to produce, farm, run industries, keep shops open and create jobs to grow the economy when they were in darkness for 21 hours of the day

NO MATTER HOW HARD LISWANISO TRIES TO SCARE PEOPLE, THERE WILL BE TROUBLE IN UPND OVER ADOPTIONS

NO MATTER HOW HARD LISWANISO TRIES TO SCARE PEOPLE, THERE WILL BE TROUBLE IN UPND OVER ADOPTIONS

Here is another member of parliament who is in trouble, in addition to Jack Mwiimbu in Monze and Cornelius Mweetwa in choma:

Itezhi tezhi member of parliament Twaambo Mutunta is reported to have sued a party chairman in his area for alleged defamation.

Mutinta has sued United Party for Natiinal Development (UPND) District Chairman Hardwork Kangongwe for defamation.

MP Mutinta is demanding 5 Million Kwacha from his own district chairman who stays in the village.

Lawyers for Mutinta have given the district chairman a bank account in which to deposit the money within seven days.

At the heart of this story is a claim by Mutinta that the Chairman defamed him in a letter to the provincial leadership alleging the MP is interfering with party structures, by instigating moves to replace current office holders with thise who will support his re-adoption in 2026 for his current seat.

This argument scenario that will be played out in many constituencies held by UPND MPs.

Therefore, Gilbert Liswaniso, who has already claimed there will be no independent candidates coming out of the party’s adoption process, is probably engaging in wishful thinking.

OPPOSITION PARTIES NEED QUICK RESPONSE TO HH SONA SPEECH

OPPOSITION PARTIES NEED QUICK RESPONSE TO HH SONA SPEECH

President Hakainde Hichilema delivered what should be this year’s last major comprehensive review of the State of the Nation in the National Assembly yesterday. His speech was a broad review of economic, social and political developments in Zambia since he took office in 2021. This is, of course, strictly from his, and his government’s, perspective.

The picture he painted was  optimistic, in the midst of economic challenges, especially. He skipped quickly over embarrassing ones such as the daily devastation caused by current load shedding of up to 22 hours in some cases, never mentioning his favourite comparison with Dubai, which has reliable electricity despite receiving less rains than Zambia.

Positive statistics were strewn or sprinkled all across the speech to bolster the picture of  emerging Zambia, ostensibly poised  to build on the foundation of the “achievememts” of the last four years.

In doing this, President Hichilema was simply doing his job, making a major speech that captures what will probably be his 2026 elections pitch. From now on, his total control of the country’s government owned media outlets, and the cooperation of  private media collaborators will work to make this the predominant narrative which Zambians should imbibe.

But the narrative given by President Hichilema in this SONA is not gospel truth. Its overriding objective was to put some wind in the sails of the United Party for National Development (UPND) campaign machine, in the face of the increased groaning of majority Zambians who have slowly buckled under the overwhelming burden of harsh economic conditions. Many of them must be asking themselves: if the picture is as rosy as has been painted by the President, why has our economic suffering surpassed 2021 levels?

There are answers to that question. The ruling party and government can only provide one set of these answers. To complete the picture, or make for a fuller understanding of the state of the nation, citizens need to listen to other perspectives, especially those from opposition political parties.

People expect opposition political parties to react to the substance of President Hichilema’s speech, challenge the accuracy of his statistics and also question whether their extrapolation accurately portrays the economic, social and political realities of Zambia under the hand of Hakainde Hichilema and his UPND government.

This is a very serious responsibility for the opposition, and it cannot be discharged effectively through sound bites, walk in interviews or online memes.
People need to benefit from serious consideration of this SONA by opposition party leaders. This is the time for serious dissection of what has been put on the table, possibly with some alternative ideas of how to take Zambia forward.

Zambians are craving an alternative review of the last four years. The opposition will have themselves to blame if this opportunity, too, goes begging.

REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT CHALLENGES MPS, STAKEHOLDERS TO SPONSOR NATIONAL SERVICE VOLUNTEERS

REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT CHALLENGES MPS, STAKEHOLDERS TO SPONSOR NATIONAL SERVICE VOLUNTEERS

The Republican President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Force, Mr Hakainde Hichilema has appealed to Members of Parliament and other stakeholders to help sponsor candidates for the Voluntary National Service Training Programme, which has already drawn far more applicants than available places.

Speaking at the ceremonial opening of the 13th National Assembly, the Head of State revealed that he is personally sponsoring 200 students drawn from all 156 constituencies and challenged MPs to emulate his example by supporting young people in their respective constituencies.

The President described the training programme as a vital pathway for instilling vocational skills, discipline, and patriotism in the young people.

“When we first spoke about the ZNS Voluntary Training Programme, some thought it was mere pep talk. It is real. We have taken in the first intake, and I am pleased to say it is oversubscribed,” he said.

The Commander-in-Chief highlighted the programme’s proven impact by citing National Assembly Speaker Right Honourable Ms Nelly Mutti, as one of the notable graduates of the earlier compulsory ZNS training and an example of how impactful national service programme is.

“National service training is good training, take it from me. Those of us who went through that programme appreciate its value. You can see the difference in the character of those who trained and those who did not,” Mr President said.

He urged young people across the country to seize the opportunity to attain vocational skills and become productive citizens, stressing that education and practical training remain Zambia’s most important investments

The President lauded the voluntary initiative revived more than four decades after the end of compulsory national service for attracting far more applicants than available places, calling the oversubscription a sign of the nation’s appetite for discipline, skills development, and self-reliance.

He revealed that despite the oversubscription, his administration did not go back to treasury for supplementary funding but was ingenious enough to mop up the available funds within the resource envelope and also ride on support from volunteer sponsors such as himself.

“We were ingenious and financed the programme within our existing envelope, with support from volunteer sponsors including myself,” he said.

Meanwhile Mr Hichilema, has praised the Defence and Security Chiefs for enhancing the country’s food security and combating hunger during times of peace.

The President noted that ZNS in particular, has taken a leading role in enhancing food security, emphasizing that “food security is national security.”

He explained that through the collective efforts of many stakeholders, the country has been able to produce more than enough to cater for both human and animal consumption.

Earlier this year, President Hichilema directed that in periods of peace, the Defence Force should actively contribute to national development, a directive that ZNS is running with.

Meanwhile, the ZNS Commander Lieutenant General Engineer Maliti Solochi II was among the Defence and Service Chiefs that attended the landmark event.

Zambia on the Rise, Hichilema’s Address Crushes Opposition Propaganda, Showcases Progress

Zambia on the Rise, Hichilema’s Address Crushes Opposition Propaganda, Showcases Progress

By Tobbius Hamunkoyo-LLB

President Hakainde Hichilema’s address to the 5th Session of the 13th National Assembly was more than a speech, it was a progress report that demolished opposition propaganda.

Under the theme “Consolidating economic and social gains towards a prosperous, resilient and equitable Zambia”, the Head of State laid out the transformation achieved in just four years of UPND leadership, compared to the decline left by PF.

From the start, President Hichilema struck a unifying tone by honoring late leaders such as former late President Edgar Lungu and Clerk of the National Assembly Roy Ngulube. This humility reminded the nation that leadership is about continuity and respect, not division. It was a sharp contrast to the opposition’s politics of bitterness.

On the economy, the facts were undeniable. Growth has averaged 5.2% between 2021 and 2024, far better than PF’s 1.5% collapse. Inflation has been cut from 23% to 15.5%, and over 92% of Zambia’s external debt has been successfully restructured. Where PF buried the economy in debt and mismanagement, Hichilema’s government has revived it with stability and renewed confidence.

Agriculture has become one of UPND’s biggest victories. Maize production jumped from 1.5 million tonnes to 3.7 million, with projections beyond 4 million this season. Soya bean and seed production are also booming, making Zambia self-sufficient and an exporter. With reforms like the e-voucher FISP and irrigation support, farmers are finally thriving instead of facing shortages and uncertainty.

Mining, once destroyed by PF’s reckless handling, is now back on track. Copper production rose from 733,000 tonnes in 2021 to 821,000 in 2024, with 1 million tonnes expected in 2025. Mopani has been revived with a US$1.1 billion injection, KCM is operational again, shaft 28 , Kalengwa, Lubambe, Mimbula and major expansions are underway at Kansanshi and Lumwana. Zambia is reclaiming its place as a mining powerhouse, something the opposition claimed was impossible.

Infrastructure and energy development are equally visible. Thousands of kilometers of roads, upgraded airports, and new power projects like the Itimpi and Chisamba solar plants are expanding connectivity and reducing load-shedding. These investments are not empty promises but tangible projects that Zambians can see and use.

Social services have also been transformed. Free education has returned 2.3 million children to school, over 42,000 teachers and thousands of health workers have been recruited, and hundreds of schools, health facilities, and immunization programs are in place. Under PF, services collapsed; under UPND, they are growing stronger by the day.

Finally, President Hichilema reaffirmed Zambia’s democracy, peace, and rising global reputation. With the Access to Information Act in force, corruption reduced, elections prepared, and foreign partnerships strengthened, Zambia is no longer isolated. The opposition’s lies cannot stand against these facts: UPND is moving the country forward, delivering progress, dignity, and hope.

A Zambia National Service (ZNS) soldier is fighting for his life in hospital after being run over by a suspected smuggler in Ndola District Copperbelt province.

The ZNS Chief of Public Relations and Liaison Brigadier General Nyoni, confirmed this development to Mafken news, highlighting the risks that ZNS personnel face in the line of duty, particularly in counter-smuggling operations.

Brigadier General Nyoni is appealing for citizen support and cooperation to help protect the rule of law and national food security.

She has encouraged traders and farmers to engage in legitimate and authorized trade by applying for necessary documentation through the relevant government ministries, and ZNS troops will not interfere with legally sanctioned trade.

Brigadier General Nyoni has urged citizens and institutions to work together to ensure that the rule of law is respected, national food security is protected, and no more lives are lost to smuggling-related confrontations.

MAN K!LLED BY DEAD CORPSE

BREAKING NEWS: MAN KILLED BY DEAD CORPSE

A man tragically lost his life at Ga-Kibi in Senwabarwana Limpopo after slipping and falling into a grave while helping to lower his best friend’s coffin. Due to the weight, those assisting were forced to let go, and the incident claimed his life instantly.

Community members are in shock, especially after the grieving mother revealed that the two friends had always said they would “depart together” — words that have now left many speechless.

Authorities and safety experts are urging families to take extra safety precautions during burials, including using proper lowering equipment instead of relying only on hands.

Man demands his ex-wife who cheated on him returns his kidney or pay him $1.5 million

A doctor from Long Island, Dr. Richard Batista, is asking that his ex-wife Dawnell Batista returns his kidney or pay him $1.5 million in compensation.

In 2001, Batista donated one of his kidney to his then wife after she suffered a life threatening kidney failure.

Batista was a perfect match and he decided to give to her out of love. Dawnell underwent the surgery successfully and regained her health.

The love story took a twisted fate in 2005 after Baptist discovered Dawnell’s affair. She had been cheating on her husband with her physical therapist.

Batista filed for divorce in 2007. As part of compensation, Batista filed a lawsuit against Dawnell.

He demanded either $1.5 million (the estimated black-market value of a kidney) or she returns the kidney itself.

He argued that the kidney was a conditional gift that he gave his wife under the expectation their marriage will last a life time.

After a series of contentious legal battle, case was ultimately dismissed in court because organ donation laws prohibit treating donated organs as property subject to return or compensation.

In a 2009 TV interview with Inside Edition, Batista reaffirmed his stance. He added that he was only going to drop the charges if his kidney was returned.

Mother and daughter go viral after revealing they are both expecting babies by the same man

A young YouTuber is going viral after he allegedly impregnated his girlfriend and her mother at the same time.

Nick Yardy recently dropped a video announcing that his girlfriend Jade, 22, and her mom Dani, 44, are both pregnant with his kids.

He revealed that Jade is expecting a girl named Nicole whilst Dani is supposedly carrying a boy called Nick Jr.

“It’s not often that a mom and daughter are pregnant at the same time, let alone by the same man, but we wouldn’t want things to be any other way,” Jade said in a video.

During an interview with The Daily Mail, Nick admitted that the entire pregnancy story was a fabrication.

“There are no babies. It’s just, like, a skit. It’s not actually real,” Nick revealed.

He however stated that the relationship with both women is legit as they’ve been living together for almost two years, taking turns on dates and everything.

“They are actually mother and daughter, and our involvement with each other is real. It’s just that they’re not actually pregnant. At least not yet,” he told the news outlet.

Jade is an OnlyFans model and Dani is a life coach. Jade actually met Yardy during a video shoot.

Lady turns down his boyfriend because he didn’t kneel to propose

Does kneeling down really matter when proposing marriage to the love of your life?

While some hold it in high esteem, others feel it’s one of those western cultures that has found its way into that of Africans.

A young Nigerian lady refused to accept his boyfriends proposal just because the guy did not kneel in the process.

In a video which has gone viral, a guy planned a romantic proposal for his girlfriend only for him to be denied because of a minor detail.

The guy ushered the lady into a room where he has decorated for the event. He even showered her with gifts before the main deal.

After bringing out the ring, the guy who was standing took the hand of his girlfriend who was sitting as he asked the big question.

To his surprise, the lady asked her to kneel down and ask as their friends urged her to say yes.

In his defense, the guys said he was not going to kneel down as he’s a man and does not see it’s relevance.

The lady out of anger began to shout on him. Why don’t you go down on your knees like other men do, what’s your problem?

When you are ready to propose to me you know where to find me she said as she picked her bag and walked out.

The video has sparked wild criticisms online. While some are claiming the lady knows her worth, others feel she over did it because she doesn’t really love him.

Black Educator Known as “Teacher Bae” Has Parents Concerned About What She Wears to School

Ms. Williams, also known online as “Teacher Bae,” is under fire after sharing TikTok videos of herself in revealing outfits filmed inside classrooms and hallways. Her clips, which mix fashion poses with teaching settings, have drawn sharp criticism from viewers.

Williams, whose TikTok account has over 134,000 followers, calls herself both an educator and a fashion influencer. Her content often blends runway-style walks with classroom backdrops, drawing millions of views while raising concerns among viewers.

One viral clip shows her dancing in a school hallway while wearing a nude pencil skirt, white blouse, and lace-up heels. Another feature her in a sheer maxi skirt paired with a black top with a bow and a designer purse, a style consistent with her online persona.

According to the New York Post, the video that drew the most outrage shows her writing on a whiteboard in fitted trousers, which many viewers said were intentionally chosen to highlight her figure. One comment said, “She’s setting up the camera just so people can see her butt jiggle.”

Comments on her page include calls for stricter dress codes and even demands for an investigation. “Schools need to start enforcing teacher dress codes. You look great, but wrong time and place,” one viewer wrote. Another added that she’s “trying to look sexy for kids.”

Williams, however, has not backed down. In a response video, she told critics, “Y’all are miserable,” adding that many parents of her former students still support her. She continues to post fashion-forward content from school grounds despite the uproar.

ZAM RESPONDS TO YO MAPS’S REQUEST TO SPONSOR 2025 KWACHA MUSIC AWARDS

GUIDANCE ON YO MAPS’S REQUEST TO PARTICIPATE AS A SPONSOR OF THE 2025 KWACHA MUSIC AWARDS

The Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) wishes to clarify its position regarding the statement issued by Olio’s Records on Facebook concerning Yo Maps’s withdrawal from competing in the 2025 Kwacha Music Awards, citing his desire to participate as a sponsor instead.

ZAM respects Yo Maps’s decision to withdraw his nomination(s) as it falls within his artistic freedoms. However, we would like to emphasize that an active musician cannot sponsor an award ceremony or any of its categories, as this may compromise the integrity of the awards.

While we appreciate the kind gesture by Olio’s Records management and ZAM member Yo Maps, we encourage them to consider alternative initiatives that can benefit the industry. These may include:

  • Funding studio time for emerging artists
  • Supporting collaborations between new and established artists
  • Funding music videos for upcoming artists
  • Organizing masterclasses for new artists on music business lessons

Furthermore, we advise the Kwacha Music Awards committee to continue partnering with corporate entities that have been sponsoring the awards since 2017. This will promote fairness and maintain trust in the legitimacy of the awards.

Accepting sponsorship from interested parties, particularly active artists, may lead to conflicts of interest and public suspicion of future biases towards such artists and those connected to them.

ZAM – United with one voice.

IT’S SO SAD HOW WE KEEP FIGHTING EACH OTHER – T LOW VENTS

In a post seemingly made as a result of the online Kwacha Music Awards 2025 feud between Yo Maps and Chile One, singer T Low has taken to his socials condemning the tension between artists.

The singer said the tension is retrogressive, divides fans, and is hurting the artists’ fans and industry. He further called for unity.

He said, “It’s so sad how we keep fighting each other. We have even made our fans get into battles of magnitude that they don’t even understand.”

He continued, “Their ignorance to support their favorites has caused so much damage to the industry that they don’t even realize what this will do to the next generation.”

The singer encouraged unity, in oder for the industry to grow, just like the way Nigeria has grown with Afrobeats and South Africa with Amapiano.

“When are we going to stand as ONE industry, be proud of each others’ achievements, conqour Africa  and the globe?” he questioned.

The online feud that has resulted in Yo Maps withdrawing from the Kwacha Music Awards 2025 has been condemned by several industry players.

T LOW’s message is clear, fighting for superiority and undermining others will only cause division and hinder industry growth. Hence, artists should unite and collaborate for the betterment of the industry.

YO MAPS WITHDRAWS FROM KWACHA MUSIC AWARDS 2025 AMID TENSION WITH CHILE ONE

YO MAPS WITHDRAWS FROM KWACHA MUSIC AWARDS 2025 AMID TENSION WITH CHILE ONE

YO MAPS’ record label has announced the singer’s withdrawal from the KWACHA MUSIC AWARDS 2025 after CHILE ONE said the label’s move to sponsor two categories would interfere with the awards’ integrity.

“On behalf of Yo Maps Yo, we wish to inform the public and the organizers of the Kwacha Music Awards that Yo Maps has officially withdrawn his nomination from this year’s awards,” the record label said in part.

This frenzy comes after the Olios Records announced that it is requesting to sponsor two categories, which included BEST ARTIST CENTRAL PROVINCE and BEST MALE ARTIST.

Both Yo Maps and Chile One are nominated in the category BEST MALE ARTIST which implied that if Chile One won, his prize money would come from the Olios Records and if Yo Maps won, he would be paying himself.

In response to this, Chile One called on the organisers of the Kwacha Music Awards not to accept the offer as it would be disrespectful, further urging them to uphold their usual standards.

He said in part, “Being recognized doesn’t mean we’re desperate for validation, tatwapaya saana. We do this not for money but out of love and passion for the music.”

He continued, “More importantly, it’s one of the few ways we feel appreciated and connected with our fans.”

Even though the Olios Records did not say the reasons for the withdrawal, many social users speculate that it is evident from the chain of events that it is sponsored by Chile One’s
to their sponsorship offer.

Both Chile One and Yo Maps had seven nominations at this year’s edition, and fans were excited to see the results on the awards night, but it seems the fun has been cut short.

I’M NOMINATED FOR INTERNATIONAL AWARDS BUT LOCAL? – SWATI PATIL SENDS SUBLIMINAL SHOTS AT KWACHA MUSIC AWARDS’ NOMINATION CRITERIA

I’M NOMINATED FOR INTERNATIONAL AWARDS BUT LOCAL? – SWATI PATIL SENDS SUBLIMINAL SHOTS AT KWACHA MUSIC AWARDS’ NOMINATION CRITERIA

India-Afro singer Swati Patil, through a humorous, subliminal social media post, has questioned the nomination criteria Kwacha Music Awards organisers used in selecting the 2025 nominees that she didn’t meet.

Reacting to the nominees list unveiled yesterday, she seemingly suggested that she didn’t understand how she was left out when she gets international nominations and releases international standards music.

She suggested that a fan wrote the complaint despite it being written in first-person.

“So us who (have) been producing international music representing Zambia and getting nominated internationally have no place in local awards?” She questioned.

With laughing emojis, she added, “While some who hardly produced songs are nominated – says a Swati fan.”

To the singer’s credit, she has consistently released music that has accumulated thousands of streams on digital streaming platforms this year.

Each year, complaints rain when nominees are unveiled. Despite not having artists withdraw this year, B Flow has asked the organisers to consider DJs at the next edition.

Meanwhile, Vinchenzo requested them to include B Quan Phamaika’s Nkondo as he claims it was the biggest conscious song in 2025 as it accumulated over six million YouTube views.

Kwacha Music Awards organisers were clear about their nomination criteria as they said through their socials that nominations were based on airplay from 45 radio stations countrywide.

Well, for the second time in a role, Swati Patil is missing on the Kwacha Music Awards 2025 nominees list. Will she grab one next year?

Chakwera thanks Malawians, vows to continue development push

President Lazarus Chakwera has expressed gratitude to Malawians for entrusting him with the country’s leadership and urged them to protect ongoing development projects while voting wisely in next week’s general elections.

Speaking at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday during the Malawi Congress Party (MCP)’s final campaign rally, Chakwera said he is committed to continuing efforts to build a “new Malawi” by expanding the progress already made under his administration.

“Your trust and support mean the world to me, and I’m committed to continuing our journey towards progress,” said Chakwera.

He added, “We have made significant strides in various sectors, and it is crucial that we preserve these gains for our children and grandchildren. Together, we can ensure they inherit a prosperous and thriving Malawi.”

The President urged communities to take care of public infrastructure such as roads, railways, schools, and hospitals, saying such investments are essential for the country’s future.

He also pledged to take decisive action to improve government performance if re-elected.

“From the first day after winning the election, I will work tirelessly to transform Malawi. Those entrusted with public offices must deliver, and if they fail to do so, they will be replaced,” he said.

Minister of Information, Mosses Kunkuyu, echoed the President’s message and called on voters to make the right choice by electing a leader who will deliver meaningful change.

“As Malawians, let us vote wisely and choose Dr. Chakwera, a leader with a clear vision for development and improving people’s lives,” Kunkuyu said.

MCP Secretary General, Richard Chimwendo Banda, also commended Chakwera’s leadership, describing his development initiatives as a beacon of hope for the nation.

“President Chakwera’s commitment to serving this country is commendable. His initiatives have brought tangible improvements to communities, and we must continue to support him to achieve even more,” said Chimwendo Banda.

The rally, attended by thousands of supporters, marked the official close of MCP’s campaign ahead of the September 16 elections, with party leaders urging citizens to safeguard development gains and vote for continued progress.

SHE HIRED ME TO PERFORM AT HER FASHION SHOW AND SHE DIDN’T PAY – JAY ROX RECOUNTS MEETING HIS WIFE

SHE HIRED ME TO PERFORM AT HER FASHION SHOW AND SHE DIDN’T PAY – JAY ROX RECOUNTS MEETING HIS WIFE

TOP Zambian artist Jay Rox shared how he met his now wife, Don Estelle Mantel, when he answered Kenny T’s question on Kenny T 1 ON 1 podcast.

The artist revealed that their first encounter was when she booked him to perform at her fashion event, and her beauty caught his attention.

“She had hired performance services and the performance was done but she didn’t pay! She did a fashion show and she didn’t pay!” said Jay Rox.

The artist revealed that when he asked for the money she owed him, she postponed to a later day twice. Therefore, he called her, and they went to the ATM to get the money.

“And she gave me the money, she wasn’t happy because she felt it was a little bit more hostile,” he recounted.

Jay Rox said he met her at a friend’s place about a week later, and they had a conversation ironing out the strain in their relationship.

His pursuit for her heart was met with ignored conversations sometimes for up to a week. “I really worked, I worked, I worked!” said Jay Rox, emphasizing how hard it was pursuing her.

The artist had his break into getting her attention after she had an electronic technical malfunction, to which he was called to her house to fix as he is an IT specialist.

Jay Rox then said he took advantage of this moment, making the problem seem bigger so that he could spend more time with her. By the end of that day, he noticed she was seeing another side of him, the good side.

“Then after that, we had like another link up. Then I was like, the interests was there from my end, and I was like we are getting somewhere. So it was a process, but after that, things really sat in, we started doing things together, you know?” Jay Rox said.

Jay Rox and Don Estelle Mantel have now been married for many years with five children, three boys, and two girls with the eldest studying law.

Thabo Mbeki calls for respect of sovereignty in multipolar world

Former South African president Thabo Mbeki said countries pursuing national interests should respect sovereignty and United Nations principles as the world shifts toward multipolarity, aligning with views expressed by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Speaking to students at the University of South Africa on Friday, Mbeki addressed global political changes amid U.S. tariff impositions on multiple countries including South Africa. The engagement covered local and international issues, with U.S.-South Africa relations taking center stage.

“Since everybody in the world pursues their own interest, why should the United States not pursue their own interest?” Mbeki told the gathering. He emphasized that countries should be guided by three principles: respect for multipolarity, multilateralism, and adherence to UN frameworks.

The former president’s comments echo recent statements by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who declared that “it’s not normal for the world to simply have a unipolar power” and called the post-Cold War dominance “an anomaly.”

South Africa faces a 30 percent U.S. tariff announced in July, which President Cyril Ramaphosa’s administration disputes as based on contested trade balance interpretations. The government maintains average tariffs on imported goods entering South Africa stand at 7.6 percent.

Mbeki supported the South African government’s ongoing negotiations with Washington. “Actually it had been a correct position taken by Secretary of State Rubio,” he said regarding the pursuit of national interests within agreed frameworks.

The UNISA event, hosted by the Thabo Mbeki African School of Public and International Affairs, provided a platform for intergenerational dialogue on pressing socioeconomic and geopolitical issues.

University of South Africa Vice-Chancellor Puleng LenkaBula described the gathering as crucial for discussing South Africa’s role as “a positive force in the world” amid shifting global dynamics.

Rubio has articulated that multipolarity represents “not an abandonment of our principles” but requires working “in the national interest, sometimes in cooperation with people who we wouldn’t invite over for dinner.”

During the wide-ranging discussion, Mbeki also addressed conflicts in Ukraine and Palestine, gender equality issues, and South Africa’s non-aligned foreign policy stance.

The former president, who served from 1999 to 2008, remains influential in South African political discourse through the Thabo Mbeki Foundation and his role as UNISA chancellor.

South Africa fast-tracks repatriation of apartheid-era political prisoners’ remains

South Africa is accelerating efforts to repatriate remains of political activists executed during apartheid, Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi said Saturday as three anti-apartheid fighters were reburied in the Eastern Cape province.

The department has handed over 180 remains of political prisoners to date, including 81 who were executed under apartheid and have been exhumed and reburied across the country.

Kubayi spoke at a ceremony in Komani where the remains of political activists Mncekeleli Boskati, Madoda Ralane and Wantu Silinga were returned to their families for burial with dignity after decades in unmarked graves.

“Currently, we are working on phase two so we can be able to repatriate outside the country,” Kubayi told Report Focus News at the ceremony. “However, there are other families who are saying they don’t want it to happen.”

The minister acknowledged complex negotiations with foreign governments over repatriation. “Other countries are saying this is part of their heritage, so those negotiations are not easy,” she said.

The Gallows Exhumation Project, launched in March 2016, aims to locate and recover graves of political prisoners executed during apartheid. Between 1960 and 1990, 130 political prisoners were executed at Kgosi Mampuru Prison.

Of 83 remains targeted for exhumation, 81 have been recovered and handed over to families across five provinces. The department has handled 180 cases total, including spiritual repatriations and symbolic burials.

The project represents part of South Africa’s broader efforts toward national healing 30 years after apartheid ended. Many executed activists were buried in unmarked pauper graves without family consent or traditional rites.

Earlier this year, the department returned remains of Benjamin Moloise and Abraham Mngomezulu, executed in the 1980s for their anti-apartheid activities. In July, activists Alex Matsepane and Solomon Mawasha were reburied in Limpopo province.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission Unit coordinates with the National Prosecuting Authority’s Missing Persons Task Team to identify and exhume remains using forensic techniques.

Kubayi called for patience as the department engages with multiple stakeholders to balance family wishes with international diplomatic considerations in the repatriation process.

Zimbabweans Outraged As 9 Chinese Nationals Fined Only $150 Each For Cocaine

Swift Bail And Light Fine For Chinese Cocaine Case Angers Zimbabweans
Zimbabweans have reacted with anger after nine Chinese nationals convicted of illegal possession of cocaine were fined just US$150 (about R2,700) each, with the option of a six-month prison sentence. The case, reported by Daily News on Saturday, 13 September 2025, has attracted attention because the group had earlier been swiftly granted bail when they first appeared in court on 3 September 2025.

Their case has been resolved in less than two weeks, while many Zimbabweans accused of far smaller offences spend months in remand prison without bail and face lengthy trials.

Public figures question justice system
Prominent lawyer and opposition figure Fadzayi Mahere drew attention to the case when she posted on X at 8:06 AM on 13 September 2025, saying:

“🔸Just look. Don’t comment.”

Her post, which has since been viewed more than 14,000 times, was widely shared and sparked fierce debate online.

Former Education Minister David Coltart expressed his frustration later that morning, posting at 9:42 AM:

“How is this possible that foreigners, indeed anyone, are convicted of illegal possession of cocaine and only sentenced to a US$150 fine?

Is there anything credible left in our justice system? The same system allows people like an innocent man, Job Sikhala, to rot in prison for over 500 days for exercising his constitutional rights of freedom of expression? Something is terribly wrong in Zimbabwe.”

Other public figures and commentators joined in, questioning how the judiciary could impose such a light penalty for possession of a dangerous drug.

Swift bail and rapid sentencing
The nine were arrested during a police raid in Harare on 3 September 2025, where cocaine, methamphetamine, and other substances were allegedly recovered at a party. They appeared in court the following day, 4 September 2025, and were swiftly granted bail after spending only one night in custody.

For many Zimbabweans, the speed of both bail and sentencing stood out. Several highlighted that locals accused of carrying even a single joint of cannabis can languish in custody for months without bail. The contrast was not lost on social media users.

On Facebook, user Tonderai Chipindu wrote:

“2 mins bail asi muzimba anogariswa mwedzi ne mwedzi asat apiwa bail
(2 minutes bail yet a Zimbabwean national stays for months and months without being granted bail).”

Another user, Mai Mumu Chigz, described what happens in ordinary cases:

“Bail padombo necocaine Zimbabwe yakadonhera butsu 🤣😂 nhasi uno munhu anosungirwa dombo 1gram chairo hayipuhwe bail straight ku Reeds onoita gore ariko ozoti 30gr opuhwa bail
(Bail for cocaine in Zimbabwe has collapsed. These days a person caught with just 1 gram is denied bail and sent straight to Remand Prison for a year, yet someone with 30 grams is given bail).”

The rapid conclusion of the case—less than two weeks after the initial arrest—was also criticised, with many pointing out that Zimbabweans often face years waiting for trial.

Citizens decry double standards
Ordinary Zimbabweans took to X and Facebook to compare the punishment with much harsher sentences given to locals.

Oscar Ndaba Pambuka, posting from Harare on 13 September 2025, said:

“So you are telling me that the Chinese who were found with cocaine were fined 150 dollars only. What happened to the statutory instrument of 15 years? If these guys were in China all of them were going to die.”

Keith Km Matora observed the inequality:

“Zim citizen caught with 1 joint of weed u pay US$20. This is a joke. We don’t know how many grams of cocaine those guys were with and they pay 150. Guka boys 15 years mukati.”

Others compared the case to unrelated crimes. Josiah Mawarire remarked:

“10 years for cable theft kkk.”

In another post, Humphrey Rhodings Mavimba recalled:

“And a Zimbabwean found with cannabis was jailed 10 years in prison without option.”

The relatively small fine and short court process led many to question whether the law was applied equally to all. Denford Chikanga summed up the public mood:

“Then the possibility is very very high they will continue dealing… what’s US$150 to druglords?”

Many citizens also pointed out that in China, similar offences often carry the death penalty, while in Zimbabwe, the suspects walked away with a fine.

Redman was ‘jealous’ when ex Faith Evans married Notorious B.I.G. – ‘She’s always been a sweetheart’

During a Tuesday appearance on Acton Entertainment, veteran rapper and producer Redman jokingly stated that he was jealous when his ex-girlfriend, Faith Evans, married The Notorious B.I.G.

Evans, 52, has previously stated that Redman, 55, was her boyfriend in ninth grade. Evans, later in life, dated the late Notorious B.I.G. before they ultimately tied the knot.

“When she started her relationship with Biggie, I was jealous,” Redman, whose real name is Reginald Noble, said, per PEOPLE. “First of all… Faith was my sister’s best friend, and I met Faith through my sister… Yeah, we were all young. Me and Faith was dating at a very young age before we got on. She’s always been a sweetheart to me.”

Redman also revealed that he and Evans had parted ways when she started seeing Biggie, adding that he was pursuing other endeavors at the time.

“When she started dating Biggie and stuff … I was doing my thing. I was already on tour wildin’ out with chicks, you know?” the Da Rockwilder rapper said. “Me and her had split and parted ways, of course, but she would still come to see me… Then she finally got on, and I was happy for her.”

He continued: “So, when she dated Biggie, man, I was like, Faith has always been a smart person. She’s Brick City. She’s Jersey all day. So, of course, she’s going to move with good discernment.”

Evans and Biggie, born Christopher George Latore Wallace, share a son, Christopher Jordan “C.J.” Wallace, who was born in October 1996. Redman, in the interview, disclosed that he was “amazed” at Evans’ “outcome” after C.J. was born.

“Getting on, being successful, being part of one of the hottest rap crews at the time,” the 55-year-old said. “I was, ‘Wow, she’s doing her thing.’ So only thing I can do was salute her, pray for her and wish her the best.”

Evans has also similarly had good things to say about Redman. In a 2010 interview with New York Magazine, the Soon as I Get Home singer described Redman as a “real nice guy from a respectful family.”

“He went to church. He’s my daughter’s godfather,” Evans added. “When I got signed, he used to come down to the studio and check on me. Some people thought I was some church girl, but when Red came around, they knew not to mess with me.”

Evans and Biggie married in August 1994, and they were still a couple at the time he was shot and killed in March 1997. In a 2022 interview with PEOPLE, Evans said she remembers Biggie every day.

“I walk down my stairs and there’s a portrait that someone gave me of him up in the top of the foyer. B.I.G. is a huge part of this house,” she said. “He’s one of the reasons that I am able to be here, to be quite honest, and live here, and my son.”

DJ Khaled Explains Staying Neutral In Drake, Rick Ross, & Future’s Beefs

DJ Khaled says he always tries to bring “love” and “positivity” when his fellow artists are beefing with one another.

DJ Khaled says he makes an effort to remain neutral when his collaborators feud with one another. He discussed how he handled Drake beefing with Rick Ross and Future during an interview with Fat Joe and Jadakiss on their new podcast. Both Future and Ross feuded with Drake in 2024, but Khaled remained silent on the matter.

“I’m the one out of the crew that always says ‘Yo, we don’t need that.’ We need to come together, we need love… At the same time, we don’t wanna slow up the money,” he said. “I love Drake, I love Ross, I love Future… Those are my brothers, you can’t question my friendships.”

When Joe and Jada shared the clip on Instagram, fans had mixed reactions in the comments section. Many brought up Khaled’s lack of public comments on the violence in Gaza over the last several years. “Sweating like he think they gonna ask him something about Palestine,” one user joked. Another wrote: “Nah brothers this is one y’all could’ve left off your couch. I know he’s your man’s Joe, your brother, but read the room.”

Drake and DJ Khaled have collaborated a number of times over the years. They worked together on the singles, “For Free,” “No New Friends,” “I’m On One,” and more.

Earlier this year, Khaled announced that Drake will be appearing on his new album, Aalam of God, for two different songs. In response to that news on Instagram, Drake commented: “Must be @drakebell.” Shortly afterward, Khaled deleted the album announcement and has yet to provide any further updates on when it will release.

In August, he shared two singles from the project. They included “Brother” with NBA Youngboy and Post Malone as well as “You Remind Me” featuring Vybz Kartel, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Mavado, RoryStoneLove, and Kaylan Arnold. The new album will mark his first full-length release since dropping God Did in 2022.

Black Woman Reveals How She Handles Comments About Her Blonde, Blue-Eyed Daughter

Alex McCurry, an African American mom of three, went viral after sharing her parenting journey online. Her youngest daughter, born with blonde hair, blue eyes, and light skin, has drawn constant questions and criticism about her parentage both on social media and in real life.

Alex and her husband, Rob, who is white, welcomed their third child through IVF. Unlike their older children, their youngest, affectionately called “Pudge Pudge,” has noticeably fair features. The couple initially questioned whether there had been a mistake, but medical tests confirmed the baby was biologically theirs.

Online, Alex’s videos often receive comments suggesting infidelity. She responds with humor while also pointing out the bias behind such remarks. In one case, when a viewer asked how to block her page, Alex posted a lighthearted tutorial showing the process.

The criticism hasn’t been limited to the internet. In public, she has been mistaken for her daughter’s nanny and once followed in a grocery store by a stranger who thought the child might have been stolen. Alex believes these interactions expose racial bias rather than genuine concern.

“I try to handle it with grace and patience because this is not the most common-looking kind of family, but at the end of the day, it’s none of anybody’s business,” she told People. “Like, as long as the kid looks healthy and is doing great and looks like they’re in a loving situation, that’s what matters. So coming up to us and saying anything is really exposing [the] racial bias that you have.”

Despite the criticism, Alex continues to share her family life to highlight that families come in many forms. She teaches her children about their African American, Irish, and Dominican heritage and uses music like James Brown’s “I’m Black and I’m Proud” to build pride in their identity.

Looking ahead, Alex knows her youngest daughter will face more questions as she grows older. She hopes that by preparing her children with knowledge and confidence, they will embrace their background without fear. For Alex, love defines a family more than appearances ever could.

Woman Arrested for Threatening to Kill President Trump, Now Faces Two Felony Charges

Nathalie Rose Jones, a 50-year-old woman from Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested in Washington, D.C. after making repeated threats on social media to kill President Donald Trump. She now faces two felony charges, federal officials said.

As reported by TMZ, the U.S. Secret Service began monitoring Jones in early August after she posted a series of alarming comments on Instagram and Facebook. Between August 2 and August 15, her messages included violent threats, with one post saying she would “disembowel” the president.

On August 14, Jones met with Secret Service agents to discuss her online activity. During the interview, officials said she called Trump a “terrorist” and a “nazi” and claimed it was her “mission” to assassinate him. She also blamed his administration for lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic and said she wanted revenge.

Investigators said Jones continued to share anti-Trump messages even after that meeting. She later announced plans to travel to Washington, D.C., on August 17 for protests outside the White House. Following the demonstration, she confirmed making threats online but insisted she did not intend to harm the president.

Despite her denial, Jones admitted to posting the threats on Facebook. She was arrested the same day and charged with threatening to take the life of the President of the United States, as well as transmitting threats across state lines.

The Department of Justice stated that Jones faces serious penalties if convicted. Her social media accounts have been inactive since her arrest.

Of Chakwera, Mutharika forsaking 2025 Presidential debate

During his campaign stop in Salima on Friday, 12 September 2025, President Lazarus Chakwera made a striking comment regarding the presidential debates.

He stated, “But because time is already over, the person I really wanted to meet in a presidential debate is the DPP leader, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.”

At first glance, this remark signals a desire to engage directly with his main political rival in a structured, public forum.

However, a closer look suggests that it does not entirely align with Chakwera’s broader campaign approach, which has largely emphasized rallies, voter outreach, and policy messaging rather than high-stakes direct confrontations with the DPP leader.

By admitting that the debate will not take place due to time constraints, Chakwera avoids a situation that could expose his vulnerabilities or force him into unscripted exchanges with Mutharika.

In that sense, the comment may be interpreted as a carefully calibrated statement designed to appear conciliatory and open to debate while strategically sidestepping a potentially risky encounter.

Analysts note that Chakwera’s campaign has prioritized mobilizing his base and emphasizing the government’s achievements, rather than engaging in combative dialogue with the opposition.

This raises the question of whether the missed debate narrative is a genuine call for engagement or a subtle way to shift responsibility for the absence of direct confrontation onto the DPP, framing it as a lost opportunity for voters without actually risking campaign momentum.

For undecided voters, the remark may have mixed effects. On one hand, it could enhance Chakwera’s image as transparent, willing to be scrutinized, and confident in his policies.

On the other hand, it may also reinforce perceptions that his campaign avoids direct challenge with Mutharika, potentially leaving doubts about his ability to confront opposition criticisms head-on.

Moreover, the statement highlights the broader challenge in Malawi’s electoral landscape, where debates have struggled to become central fixtures of the political process, leaving citizens with fewer opportunities to witness leaders directly tested against each other.

Economic and governance context

Chakwera’s missed debate comment cannot be viewed in isolation from the broader economic and governance challenges facing Malawi.

The country continues to experience persistent fuel shortages, which have disrupted transport, commerce, and daily life for ordinary Malawians.

Forex shortages remain a critical issue, affecting imports, business operations, and remittances, and leaving citizens and enterprises struggling to access foreign currency for essential needs.

Passport delays and bureaucratic inefficiencies have compounded frustrations, limiting travel and mobility for students, businesspeople, and ordinary citizens.

Political violence against opposition figures and dissenting voices, including civil servants demanding better pay, has raised serious concerns about democratic space, freedom of expression, and respect for human rights.

Rampant corruption within key sectors of the government has eroded public trust, with high-profile scandals highlighting mismanagement of public funds.

Indecisiveness in appointing the right people to cabinet and other crucial positions—and a reluctance to remove underperforming officials—has further undermined effective governance.

These persistent failures intensify scrutiny of Chakwera’s leadership and magnify voter concerns about his ability to deliver on promises.

In this context, the absence of a direct debate with DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika may be perceived as symptomatic of a broader avoidance of accountability, reinforcing voter frustration among undecided and critical constituencies.

The combination of economic hardship, governance inefficiencies, and missed opportunities for public accountability through debate can significantly influence voter sentiment, particularly among younger, urban, and politically active populations.

Chakwera under pressure compared to Mutharika

The missed debate with DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika also underscores the current political pressure facing President Lazarus Chakwera.

Unlike Mutharika during his tenure, Chakwera has had to contend with widespread public dissatisfaction over the government’s inability to deliver on promises that directly affect citizens’ daily lives.

Fuel shortages remain acute, forcing car owners, taxi drivers, and ordinary commuters to spend hours waiting in long queues at filling stations.

Similarly, the delayed distribution of affordable fertilizer has sparked frustration among farmers, threatening productivity and creating political vulnerabilities ahead of the 16 September elections.

The incumbent president has publicly acknowledged these failings, recently appealing to Malawians for forgiveness and seeking a second chance to address these economic hardships.

In contrast, Mutharika’s period in office, while also facing criticism, did not provoke the same level of urgent public grievance over basic commodities and inputs, allowing him to project a relatively stable leadership image during electoral cycles.

This juxtaposition frames Chakwera’s campaign in a defensive position, where his messaging must not only highlight achievements but also reconcile public frustration with perceived governance lapses.

The missed debate with Mutharika, therefore, is not merely a campaign tactic—it also amplifies the scrutiny of Chakwera’s record, emphasizing the electorate’s expectations for accountability, delivery on promises, and effective management of the economy.

By publicly seeking forgiveness, Chakwera aims to soften voter dissatisfaction and remind the electorate of the potential for corrective action under his continued leadership.

Voter impact

The missed debate narrative could resonate differently among various demographic groups.

Young voters, who often value direct engagement, transparency, and public scrutiny, may perceive Chakwera’s remark as a missed opportunity to hold leaders accountable, potentially generating skepticism about his willingness to confront the opposition.

Rural voters, who tend to rely more on rallies and direct outreach, may be less influenced by the debate narrative and more swayed by Chakwera’s promises and visible engagement in their communities.

Urban, educated, and first-time voters, however, may interpret the statement as an attempt to shift blame or avoid substantive discussion, which could influence their decisions at the ballot box.

Business communities and civil society groups, already concerned about economic mismanagement and policy failures, may see the missed debate as an indicator of risk-averse leadership, reinforcing doubts about Chakwera’s ability to address pressing economic challenges.

Ultimately, the remark could energize Chakwera’s supporters who appreciate his focus on rallies and campaign messaging, while simultaneously leaving a window for undecided voters to question the depth of his campaign’s commitment to open scrutiny and accountability.

Conclusion

Chakwera’s comment about the missed debate with DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika underscores both the importance he publicly places on political dialogue and the calculated nature of his campaign strategy.

While it may resonate with voters seeking accountability and transparency, it also exposes a tension between appearance and strategy, showing that Chakwera is cautious about direct confrontation with his main rival.

The impact on different voter demographics will likely vary, with younger and urban voters potentially reading deeper into the missed opportunity, while rural communities remain focused on in-person engagement and messaging.

As Malawi approaches the 16 September elections, undecided voters may interpret the statement in different ways—either as a display of openness or as evidence of a campaign that prefers controlled messaging over unscripted debate.

Ultimately, this remark reflects the intricate balance political leaders must strike between signaling confidence, managing electoral risk, and addressing widespread economic and governance challenges in a highly competitive environment.

Final countdown

As the final moments of the campaign approach, with only 78 hours remaining before the 16 September 2025 elections, Malawians are poised to make a decisive choice.

Citizens will determine whether to continue along a path marked by the devaluation of the Malawi Kwacha, rising prices, and economic uncertainty, or to pursue a future with a more stable local currency, controlled inflation, and greater economic predictability.

The outcome will reflect not only political preferences but also the electorate’s assessment of which leadership can effectively manage the economy, deliver on promises, and restore confidence in the nation’s governance.

Steve Biko’s Death Back Under Investigation

Nearly five decades after the death of anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko, South Africa has reopened an inquest into the circumstances surrounding his killing.

Biko, who founded the Black Consciousness Movement, died in police custody in 1977. At the time, authorities claimed he had sustained fatal injuries after “banging his head against a wall.” However, widespread evidence later suggested he was brutally tortured while in detention.

In 1997, former apartheid-era officers admitted to lying under oath and covering up the true cause of Biko’s death during Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings. Their applications for amnesty were denied, leaving unanswered questions about who should be held accountable.

The renewed inquest seeks to revisit the case and pursue long-delayed justice for one of South Africa’s most iconic anti-apartheid figures.

Utah governor Spencer Cox says he had hoped Charlie Kirk shooter “wouldn’t be one of us”

Utah governor Spencer Cox has sparked criticism after he said Friday, September 12, that he had hoped Charlie Kirk’s shooter “wouldn’t be one of us”.

On Friday, it was announced that the suspect arrested for the a$$assination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk is Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old white man from a pro-gun family with parents who are registered Republicans.

Speaking at a press conference, Cox said while he was grateful for the quick arrest of a suspect in Charlie Kirk’s a$$assination, he had hoped the suspect “wouldn’t be one of us,” hoping it would be someone from another state or country.

He said he thought it would “make it easier” to be able to say, “We don’t do that here.”

“For 33 hours, I was praying that if this had to happen here that it wouldn’t be one of us — that somebody drove from another state, somebody came from another country… Sadly, that prayer was not answered the way I hoped for… But it did happen here, and it was one of us,” Cox said.

His statement has sparked criticisms.

Muslim priest who s£xually abused four young girls inside a mosque has been jailed for 10 years in the UK

0

A former Muslim priest who s£xually abused four young girls inside a mosque has been jailed for 10 years in the UK.

Qari Sher Mohammad, who was the iman at the Muslim Community Centre in Chatham, Kent, targeted children for almost a decade.

According to Mail Online, concerns about his behaviour were first raised in 2018 when one of his victims revealed he had sexually touched her while carrying out his spiritual duties.

She said the assault took place inside a mosque on Thorold Road between March 2014 and October 2016.

Mohammad, 61, was arrested and interviewed in April that year, but he was not charged because there were concerns that the trial would have a negative impact on his young victim.

Between May 2022 and December 2023, he went on to s£xually ass@ult three more children and was arrested on December 11.

The victim who had made the previous allegation, now an adult, stated she wished to support a police prosecution for the crimes committed against her.

The iman was charged with multiple counts of s£xual touching of a child.

He denied the offences, but on March 7, 2025, was convicted at Canterbury Court on 16 indictments.

On Friday, Mohammad was sentenced to 10 years in jail.

He will be the subject of a S£xual Harm Prevention Order for five years once he is released.

Detective Constable Conor Middleton said: ‘This man was in a position of authority when these appalling offences were committed.

‘The children showed immense courage by reporting his actions, and I would like to commend them and their parents for assisting our investigation.

‘Mohammad is now serving a prison sentence and he should reflect on his actions and the impact they had on these vulnerable victims.’

Charlie Kirk ‘shooter’ Robinson ‘lived with transgender partner’

0

Charlie Kirk’s suspected killer, Tyler Robinson, was living with a transgender partner, it has emerged, as new details continue to surface about the 22-year-old accused of assassinating the conservative activist.

The partner, who is said to be transitioning from male to female, is now fully cooperating with the FBI in its investigation. According to reports, text messages and other communications between Robinson and the individual helped authorities track down the suspect.

Neighbours confirmed that Robinson shared a property with a roommate at a condo complex featuring a swimming pool, hot tub, fitness centre, and walking trails. One resident noted a wreath on the door and a vehicle parked in the assigned space. The apartment is located about five miles from Robinson’s family home.

Sources told the New York Post that the partner’s cooperation proved crucial, with investigators learning about bullet casings inscribed with meme-style messages similar to those found at the crime scene, as well as a conversation about retrieving a rifle from a drop point.

Kirk, 31, co-founder of Turning Point USA and a close ally of Donald Trump, was fatally shot in the neck on Wednesday while speaking to students at Utah Valley University. His final on-stage exchange came in response to a question: “Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?” He was rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries.

The killing has been described as a “political assassination” by Trump allies. Utah Governor Spencer Cox called it a “dark chapter” and a “watershed moment” in American politics, telling the Wall Street Journal: “It’s very clear to us and to the investigators that this was a person who was deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology.”

Robinson, raised in a Mormon family, was taken into custody near his family home in southern Utah on Thursday, September 11. He is being held without bail at Utah County Jail and is expected to be charged with aggravated murder and firearms offences.

Friends described him as quiet, geeky, and fond of video games and Reddit. Investigators said he also used the chat service Discord. His family told police he had become “more political” in recent years, despite growing up in a conservative, pro-Trump household.

The picture emerging remains complex. Some messages allegedly written on bullets pointed to anti-fascist causes, while others drew on online meme culture, prompting speculation about links to both the far-left and the alt-right Groyper movement.

At a press conference, police confirmed that Robinson’s father had assisted the investigation, while neighbours said he appeared increasingly withdrawn in recent months.

Charlie Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two children. His death comes amid rising political violence in the United States, following last year’s attempted assassination of former President Trump and the killing of Minnesota Democrat state representative Melissa Hortman.

A Trump advisor broke down live on Fox News upon learning of Kirk’s death, saying he believed Kirk “would have been president one day.”

North Korea has executed citizens for watching or distributing foreign films

North Korea has executed citizens for watching or distributing foreign television programmes, including popular South Korean dramas, according to a new United Nations human rights report released on Friday, September 12.

The 14-page review, based on interviews with more than 300 witnesses and escapees, describes a worsening clampdown on personal freedoms since 2014. It highlights the use of advanced surveillance technologies and harsher punishments, including the death penalty, for offences such as sharing foreign entertainment.

James Heenan, head of the UN human rights office for North Korea, told reporters in Geneva that executions for both political and non-political crimes have risen since Covid-19 restrictions. While he did not disclose specific figures, he confirmed that people had already been executed under the new laws for distributing South Korean TV dramas.

“Under laws, policies and practices introduced since 2015, citizens have been subjected to increased surveillance and control in all parts of life,” the report concluded.

The UN’s latest findings follow a landmark 2014 report which accused Pyongyang of crimes against humanity. The new review also documented the use of forced labour, including children compelled to work in dangerous conditions as part of so-called “shock brigades” in industries like coal mining and construction.

“They’re often children from the lower level of society, because they’re the ones who can’t bribe their way out of it, and these shock brigades are engaged in often very hazardous and dangerous work,” Heenan said during a briefing from Seoul.

Despite these grave findings, the report noted limited improvements, such as reduced use of violence by guards in detention centres and the introduction of new laws that appear to strengthen fair trial guarantees.

North Korea’s diplomatic missions in Geneva and London did not respond to requests for comment. The government has previously rejected the UN Human Rights Council resolution authorising the review, dismissing it as interference in its internal affairs.

Japan has set a new record as the number of its citizens aged 100 or older

Japan has set a new record as the number of its citizens aged 100 or older has climbed to 99,763, according to fresh figures released by the country’s health ministry.

According to Complex, the new milestone makes it the 55th year in a row Japan is breaking its own centenarian record. Women dominate the numbers, accounting for about 88% of those who have lived past 100.

The country, known for having the world’s longest life expectancy, also has some of the oldest living people on record. Currently, the oldest is 114-year-old Shigeko Kagawa, while the oldest man is 111-year-old Kiyotaka Mizuno.

Officials say the remarkable longevity is largely linked to diet, lifestyle, and low obesity rates. Public health campaigns that reduced salt intake, coupled with active habits like daily walking and group exercises such as “Radio Taiso,” have helped keep many Japanese people healthier for longer.

But the rise also reflects one of the fastest ageing societies in the world, with a low birth rate adding to the challenge.

The latest figures were published ahead of Japan’s annual Elderly Day celebration on September 15, when new centenarians are honoured with a congratulatory letter and a silver cup from the prime minister.

OF ALL THE MINISTERS, GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND MP’S, THE ONLY PERSON DOING THE RIGHT THING IS ME – MUUNDA

UPND aspiring Member of Parliament for Chawama Morgan Muunda has challenged his fellow party members, including cabinet ministers and sitting MPs claiming he is the only one truly committed to addressing youth unemployment.

Muunda said he is passionately fighting to ensure that young people are given opportunities for government employment across various sectors.

Speaking during an interaction with youths, Muunda stated that he is not desperate for a parliamentary job, which pays less than K30,000 as he already has multiple investments that earn him millions of kwacha every month.

Muunda emphasized his readiness to take on any task, no matter how difficult or dirty, if it means improving the lives of the people in Chawama. He said leadership should be about action and sacrifice, not just occupying positions of power.
