Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sacked by Besiktas

0

Former Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked by Besiktas after the Turkish club were dumped out of Europe in the Conference League play-offs.

Solskjaer, 52, was appointed to the role in January, his first position since losing his job as Man United manager in November 2021.

Besiktas confirmed in a short statement that the United legend had been relieved of his duties. The decision came just hours after they were beaten by Ineos-owned Lausanne-Sport in their Conference League play-off.

The Turkish outfit were knocked out of the European competition altogether after losing 2-1 on aggregate following a 1-0 home defeat.

The club announced the decision in a brief 39-word statement after a board meeting following the match.

‘Our contract with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been terminated following a decision made at the board meeting,’ Besiktas said.

‘Following the meeting, our chairman, Serdal Adalı, thanked Solskjaer for his services to date. We respectfully present it to the public.’

His sacking comes just one match into the SuperLig season.

MAGA pollster says Trump’s approval ‘tanked’ — and GOP faces midterm disaster

0

President Donald Trump is not in good shape for the midterm elections next year, warned Mark Mitchell, lead pollster of the heavily pro-MAGA outfit Rasmussen Reports, in a Thursday interview on “War Room.”

Despite Trump “racking up wins” for his base, Mitchell said, “the Republicans are in a really bad spot.”

“Now, you’ve probably heard a lot of really good headlines about the future of the Democrat Party, about how their brand is in the tank, about how over the long term they’re going to hemorrhage electoral votes as the 2030 Census catches up with all of the movements that happened post-pandemic, how we might fix the 2020 Census and that might give another 15 seats back to the Republicans. And also all this redistricting stuff.”

Despite all of that, though, he continued, “Trump still has to have the Republicans win November of 2026. And, you know, the bad news is that every single major pollster right now has the Democrat Party picking up seats in the House and most likely winning the majority.”

“And that brings us to a very inconvenient and uncomfortable public opinion fact, which is that Donald Trump might get all of these wins, but he can’t pick and choose what he gets credit for,” said Mitchell. “And so this summer he got his signature legislation signed, the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill.’ He took out Iran’s nuclear program, and he got all of these trade deals. But his numbers between the middle of June and the middle of July tanked, from approval rating of net +8 down to net -4, and he’s at net -2 today. So he hasn’t really recovered.”

The root cause of this, Mitchell said, is Trump’s mishandling of the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking case files, a major promise his supporters were hanging on.

“Maybe people didn’t like the One Big Beautiful Bill because the messaging kind of stunk, or maybe people were upset about the fact that we were getting involved with stuff with Israel. But probably the biggest one is the Epstein thing,” he said. “And I’ve lost a ton of followers calling Trump out for the way he handled that because it was kind of a canary in the coal mine that maybe we aren’t getting the massive redress of voters grievances that we thought we were going to get with Trump. And so maybe, again he won’t get credit for all these wins.”

Worse still are the numbers for the GOP as a whole, he continued.

“Objectively, if you look at the 119th Congress, Republicans are giving us absolutely nothing,” said Mitchell. “They made a lot of really major promises back in November. The stuff that Mike Johnson was saying on the steps of Congress on November 12th about how he was going to hang an America First banner over Congress. And our list of legislation is essentially the One Big Beautiful Bill and that’s about it. They have 50 legislative days left in this year.”

In addition to pressing Republicans to rig congressional maps in their favor, Mitchell noted, Trump will be hand-picking candidates he thinks can best win and plans to hold a convention ahead of the 2026 election. “But I don’t know if that’s going to be enough, because only 38 percent of Trump 2024 voters give Republicans in Congress a very favorable rating. That’s horrible. And so Trump got all these crossover Democrats, he got all these independents and Republicans have not converted those votes.”

VIDEO: Wife nabs husband with her sister

SOUTH AFRICA – A viral video has captured the intense moment a woman caught her husband in a hotel room with her own sister.

The dramatic footage, recorded by the wife herself, shows a heated confrontation unfolding in the room.

Both the husband and sister appeared stunned and flustered as the wife demanded answers.

Shockingly, instead of apologizing, the sister turned defensive and accused the wife of encouraging the affair.

She claimed her married sister had pushed her into the relationship with the husband — a statement that left viewers stunned.

The wife strongly denied the accusation, calling it outrageous and saying her sister was “out of her mind.”

Visibly shaken and emotional, the betrayed woman expressed her pain and disbelief at the betrayal.

In the end, overwhelmed by rage and humiliation, she laid bitter curses on her sister in front of the camera.

Cheating wife d!es while lodging in a guest house with another man

In Kenya, a man has been left devastated after his wife, Paulina, died in a guest house while with another man.
Paulina, a mother of three, reportedly left her home late at night for a secret meeting with her lover.

Her husband, an okada rider, returned to find their children alone and hungry, with no idea where their mother had gone.
He tried calling her, but her phone was off, so he fed the children and waited for her return, which never came.

The next day, he reported her missing to the police and was shocked to learn that a woman had been found dead in a guest house.
He later confirmed that the deceased was his wife, who had checked in with another man who fled the scene.

To make matters worse, Paulina’s family is now fighting him for the right to bury her and take custody of the children.
The grieving husband says despite her infidelity, he loved her deeply and had hoped she would stay and grow with him through his struggles.

Trump plan widely regarded as ethnic cleansing proposed by top Israeli official

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Thursday proposed the systematic annexation of Gaza over the coming months if Hamas keeps fighting, as well as the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s plan to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian enclave.

Smotrich, who leads the far-right Religious Zionism party, announced his plan to “win in Gaza by the end of the year” during a press conference in Jerusalem.

Israel “must completely hold control of the entire strip, forever,” he said.

The minister explained that “an ultimatum will be presented to Hamas between two options,” surrendering, disarming, and returning all hostages kidnapped during the October 7, 2023 attack, or “gradual annexation of areas of the Gaza Strip and reduction of the enemy’s territory, and implementation of the Trump plan for voluntary emigration of the strip’s residents.”

“Voluntary emigration” is widely viewed as a euphemism for ethnic cleansing, given most Palestinians’ unwillingness to voluntarily abandon their homeland. Most Gazans are descendants of survivors of the Nakba, the ethnic cleansing of more than 750,000 Palestinians during the creation of Israel in 1948. Some are actual Nakba survivors.

Smotrich also called for a tightening of the siege on Gaza—which has caused the starvation of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians—in order to “starve and dehydrate Hamas fighters to death.”

The minister’s remarks followed comments last week in which he said that “whoever doesn’t evacuate, don’t let them. No water, no electricity; they can die of hunger or surrender. This is what we want.”

Earlier this year, Smotrich said: “We conquer, cleanse, and stay until Hamas is destroyed. On the way, we annihilate everything that still remains.”

Last month, the Israeli Knesset hosted an annexation conference at which Smotrich declared that “we will occupy Gaza and make it an inseparable part of Israel.”

Smotrich’s annexation plan comes as the Israel Defense Forces carries out Operation Gideon’s Chariots 2, a campaign to conquer and occupy Gaza and ethnically cleanse around 1 million Palestinians. Trump said earlier this year that he wants to transform Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

Some critics, including the Israeli jurist Itay Epshtain, said Smotrich’s comments will surely be noticed by the International Court of Justice (ICJ)—which is currently weighing a genocide case against Israel—and International Criminal Court (ICC), which last year issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes, including murder and forced starvation.

The ICC has also reportedly prepared arrest warrants for Smotrich and Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir for the crime of apartheid related to their Trump-backed plans to expand illegal settler colonies in the West Bank and annex the occupied territory.

Last year, the ICJ issued an advisory opinion that Israel’s occupation of Palestine is an illegal form of apartheid that must end as soon as possible.

Over the past 693 days, Israeli forces have killed at least 63,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. However, experts say the actual death toll is likely much higher. More than 158,600 Palestinians have been wounded, and thousands more are missing and presumed dead and buried beneath rubble. A growing famine engineered by Israel has claimed at least hundreds of lives and is threatening hundreds of thousands more.

Daughter speaks out after love-struck mum scammed for $81,000 by AI deepfake of TV star

A love-struck mum who believed she was in a relationship with a TV star sent a scammer $81,000 after falling for his AI deepfake videos.

We only need to look at how the AI videos of Will Smith eating spaghetti have evolved over the years to realise just how powerful the technology has become and it’s getting harder and harder to distinguish it from real life.

Unfortunately, that means it can sometimes be used for unscrupulous methods, whether it be creating sexualised images of women using the Grok technology on X, or depicting celebrities in ways they would have never imagined.

While some lads might be dreaming of getting a message from Jennifer Aniston, it proved to be very expensive for one UK man after he was scammed, while a French woman suffered the same fate after getting a message from a con artist pretending to be Brad Pitt.

It seems as if scammers are willing and able to depict almost anyone in order to trick someone out of their hard-earned cash, after one woman in the US lost over $80,000 after receiving deepfake videos of TV star Steve Burton, best known for his portrayal of Jason Morgan on long-running US drama General Hospital.

Abigail Ruvalcaba sent money through prepaid cards, cash and even bitcoin after the scammer convinced her that Burton had lost his home during the LA wildfires at the beginning of the year.

She had even sold her $350,000 condo in LA to raise funds for Burton and planned to hand the funds over until her daughter Vivian eventually stepped in.

“Had I not intervened when I did, she was scheduled to send the scammer $70,000 out of that money that was sitting there,” Vivian shared with ABC News.

“In her head, there was no scammer. She was talking to Steve Burton the entire time,” Vivian said.

Abigail is now ‘in complete debt’ due to the calculated scheme and is ‘going to have to file for bankruptcy,’ according to her daughter.

“She’s ashamed and to put that stress on me, on herself, on my dad, the entire family, I know it weighs heavy on her,” Vivian continued.

Abigail, who suffers from bipolar disorder, had been completely duped by the AI videos, with the generated version of Burton telling her in one video: “Hello, Abigail. I love you so much, darling. I had to make this video to make you happy, my love.”

Vivian added: “I’m sickened by it because why did it go this far? Why didn’t I know this? Why didn’t I see what was happening? What did I miss?”

Burton has even weighed in on the situation and warned others not to fall for the same scam.

When asked how many of his fans had lost money to scammers pretending to be him, he said: “That I know of who have lost money, it’s in the hundreds. It’s in the hundreds. I see people come to my appearances and look at me like they’ve had a relationship online for a couple years and I’m like, ‘No, I’m sorry. I don’t know who you are.’ It’s so sad, you see the devastation.”

“I don’t need your money. I would never ask for money.”

VENUS WILLIAMS WINS A US OPEN WOMEN’S DOUBLES MATCH FOR THE 1st TIME SINCE 2014 — WITHOUT SERENA

VENUS WILLIAMS WINS A US OPEN WOMEN’S DOUBLES MATCH FOR THE 1st TIME SINCE 2014 — WITHOUT SERENA

VENUS Williams insists she is not a good doubles player. The 14 major championships she and Serena won together tell a different story.

Without her younger sister by her side, Williams showed Thursday she’s still got it. Williams won a women’s doubles match at the U.S. Open for the first time in more than a decade, teaming with Leylah Fernandez to defeat the sixth-seeded pair of Lyudmyla Kichenok and Ellen Perez 7-6 (4), 6-3.

When it was over, the 45-year-old Williams did her signature twirl-and-wave and called Fernandez “the best partner I ever played with outside of Serena.” The 22-year-old Canadian even reminded Venus of Serena.

“Our energy really matched each other in terms of determination, in terms of not giving up, in terms of really still just focused and dialed in in every single thing,” Williams said. “That felt amazing because I never really played with a partner outside of Serena, obviously who had that kind of mentality, so it was really fun.”

Williams and Fernandez, the 2021 singles runner-up at Flushing Meadows, were heavy fan favorites at a nearly-full Louis Armstrong Stadium, and the chair umpire had to ask the crowd multiple times to quiet down.

The spectators gave Williams and Fernandez a standing ovation after they claimed the opening tiebreaker despite trailing 5-2 in that set and rose again to cheer after the match ended in 90 minutes.

“Leylah is a good player, (and) Venus is also a good doubles player,” Kichenok said. “They have played doubles many times. They know what it is. Maybe it took a bit of time to adjust at the beginning, but then they found their rhythm.”

Throughout the match, there were chants of “Here we go, Venus, here we go!” and a sign in the stands read, “Welcome to the Williams show.”

“Wow,” Williams said in her on-court interview. “Thank you, you guys. Thank you for showing up for us.”

Williams hadn’t won a women’s doubles match in New York since 2014, when she and Serena made it to the quarterfinals, or at any Grand Slam tournament since the 2018 French Open.

“It’s an area that I’m not that comfortable in, being on a doubles court, but I think you get to some point in the match where you stop thinking about it,” Williams said. “When push comes to shove, I’ll do what I have to, but I’m a singles player, so of course when I walk out there, I actually tell myself just to play singles and try that method. I try not to be something that I’m not.”

The older Williams won seven Grand Slam titles in singles and another two in mixed doubles. She had been off the tour for 16 months until returning to action by playing singles and doubles at Washington in July.

“With the amount of matches I’ve played, I’m progressing very quickly,” Williams said. “I didn’t have to come back to play tennis, but eventually I found my way back.”

At Flushing Meadows, Williams lost in the first round of mixed doubles and singles, then was awarded a wild card for women’s doubles. Fernandez described feeling “like a kid on Christmas Day” and jumping around with a smile on her face after getting the call that Williams wanted to play doubles with her.

She was shocked to hear the comparison to Serena.

“It’s probably the biggest compliment I’ve ever gotten,” Fernandez said. “I feel like those are big shoes to fill.”

“I actually feel great,” Williams said. “With some luck, we’ll stay, maybe win another round and just keep getting better.”

RUSSIA’S REVENGE ON UKRAINE’S STRIKE IN ITS OIL REFINERIES DESTROYS EU AND UK BUILDINGS IN KYIV KILLING 19 AND WOUNDING MORE

By CIC International Affairs

RUSSIA’S REVENGE ON UKRAINE’S STRIKE IN ITS OIL REFINERIES DESTROYS EU AND UK BUILDINGS IN KYIV KILLING 19 AND WOUNDING MORE.

Russia launched a major air attack early Thursday on Kyiv that included a rare strike on the city center, killing at least 19 people, wounding 48 and damaging European Union diplomatic offices, authorities said.

The bombardment of drones and missiles was the first major Russian attack on Kyiv in weeks as U.S.-led peace efforts to end the three-year war struggled to gain traction. Britain said the attack sabotaged peace efforts, while top EU diplomat Kaja Kallas summoned Russia’s EU envoy to Brussels over the strikes that damaged EU offices.

Ukraine on Thursday requested an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council to discuss the overnight bombardment, while two of Ukraine’s top envoys were set to meet Friday with the Trump administration regarding mediation.

The Kremlin said Russia remained interested in continuing peace talks despite Thursday’s air attack, which was one of the war’s biggest since it began in 2022.

Among the dead were four children between 2 and 17, said Tymur Tkachenko, the head of Kyiv’s city administration. He said up to 10 more people could still be under the rubble.

The attack was one of the few times Russian drones and missiles have penetrated the heart of Kyiv since the start of the full-scale invasion.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 598 strike drones and decoys and 31 missiles of different types across the country early Thursday, most of them striking targets in Kyiv.

At least 33 locations across all 10 of the city’s districts were directly hit or damaged by debris, Tkachenko said. Thousands of windows shattered as nearly 100 buildings were damaged, including a shopping mall in the city center.

Oleksandr Khilko arrived at the scene after a missile hit the residential building where his sister lives in the capital’s Darnytsia district. He heard screams from people who were trapped under the rubble and pulled out three survivors, including a boy.

“It’s inhuman, striking civilians,” Khilko said, his clothes covered in dust and the tips of his fingers black with soot. “With every cell of my body I want this war to end as soon as possible. I wait, but every time the air raid alarm sounds, I am afraid.”

Sophia Akylina said her home in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district was damaged.

“It’s never happened before that they attacked so close,” the 21-year old said. “Negotiations haven’t yielded anything yet, unfortunately people are suffering.”

European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen said two strikes landed 20 seconds apart about 50 meters (165 feet) from the EU Mission to Ukraine building in Kyiv. She said no staff were injured in the strike.

“No diplomatic mission should ever be a target. In response, we are summoning the Russian envoy in Brussels,” Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s top diplomat, said Thursday in a post on X.

The British Council, which promotes cultural relations and educational opportunities, also said its Kyiv office had been “severely damaged” in the attack and was closed to visitors until further notice.

The organization posted a photo showing the building with its windows and entrance smashed open and surrounded by glass and debris. A guard was injured and is “shaken but stable,” council chief executive Scott McDonald posted on X.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Russian President Vladimir Putin was “sabotaging” hopes of peace following the “senseless” strikes. The Russian ambassador to London was summoned to the foreign office.
Thursday’s attack is the first major combined Russian mass drone and missile attack to strike Kyiv since U.S. President Donald Trump met with Putin in Alaska earlier this month to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.

“Russia chooses ballistics instead of the negotiating table,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a post on X following the attack. “We expect a response from everyone in the world who has called for peace but now more often stays silent rather than taking principled positions.”

While a diplomatic push to end the war appeared to gain momentum shortly after that meeting, few details have emerged about the next steps.

Western leaders have accused Putin of dragging his feet in peace efforts and avoiding serious negotiations while Russian troops move deeper into Ukraine. This week, Ukrainian military leaders conceded Russian forces have broken into an eighth region of Ukraine seeking to capture more ground.

Zelenskyy hopes for harsher U.S. sanctions to cripple the Russian economy if Putin does not demonstrate seriousness about ending the war. He reiterated those demands following Thursday’s attack.

Trump bristled this week at Putin’s stalling on an American proposal for direct peace talks with Zelenskyy. Trump said Friday he expects to decide on next steps in two weeks if direct talks aren’t scheduled. Russia’s Defense Ministry said it carried out a strike against military air bases and companies “within Ukraine’s military-industrial complex” using long-range weapons, including Kinzhal missiles.

“All designated objects were hit,” the ministry said in a statement.

Ukraine has ramped up domestic arms production to fight Russia’s invasion. Many weapons factories operate covertly, with some embedded in civilian areas with superior air defenses. Indiscriminate Russian attacks claiming to target Ukraine’s defense industry have killed many civilians.

The Russian Defense Ministry also said it shot down 102 Ukrainian drones overnight, mostly in the country’s southwest. A drone attack sparked a blaze at the Afipsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar region, local officials said, while a second fire was reported at the Novokuibyshevsk refinery in the Samara region.

Ukrainian drones have repeatedly struck refineries and other oil infrastructure in recent weeks in an attempt to weaken Russia’s war economy, causing gas stations in some Russian regions to run dry and prices to spike.

Ukraine’s national railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsia, reported damage to its infrastructure in the Vinnytsia and Kyiv regions, causing delays and requiring trains to use alternative routes.

Steve Bannon warns Trump’s CDC move could backfire spectacularly

One of President Donald Trump’s closest confidants revealed Thursday that his latest move could backfire in a big way.

Steve Bannon, who worked in Trump’s first administration, discussed the efforts to fire Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Susan Monarez on a new episode of his podcast, “The War Room.” He said the administration’s approach to removing Monarez could make it more difficult to get a loyalist confirmed to take her spot, especially given Sen. Bill Cassidy’s (R-LA) opposition to Monarez’s firing.

“Maybe this is why we really need recess appointments,” Bannon said. ‘Because this one’s going to going to be brutal and it’s just going to slow down everything we’re trying to do, and it looked like we were trying to make so much progress.”

Monarez was confirmed as CDC director in late July after Trump pulled a nominee who was skeptical about vaccines. Cassidy, a physician, opposed the nominee, and Trump swapped them out for Monarez.

Bannon added that replacing her could be difficult because Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has defended the so-called “blue slip” policy, which requires both of a state’s senators to support a nominee before their nominations can advance.

“It is going to be as tough a confirmation battle as Pete Hegseth, and Kash Patel, and Bobby Kennedy, and Tulsi Gabbard,” Bannon said. “We’re going to go back to the beginning on how tough this is going to be.”

“This thing had to have a plan to get rolling,” Bannon added.

Egypt national soccer team refuses to play Zambia due to Israeli coach Avram Grant

The Egyptian Football Association rejected a proposal for a friendly match against Zambia because the coaching staff of the Zambian team includes Israelis, Egyptian media reported on Wednesday.

The objection was not directed personally at head coach Avram Grant, who had previously coached Ghana, or his assistant Eyal Lachman, but rather at the wider political situation they represent.

According to the reports, the game was scheduled for the November international break, which takes place after the African World Cup qualifiers and serves as a preparatory match ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, to be held in Morocco from late December through mid-January.

Zambia frequently competes against Arab and Muslim nations with no normalization ties with “Israel”, some of which maintain openly hostile relations; however, Egyptian officials, citing the ongoing war in Gaza and broader regional tensions, confirmed these factors as the reason for the cancellation.

Scrutiny against “Israel” has been rising in the football world, most recently when the Italian Coaches’ Association (AIAC) formally called on FIFA and UEFA to suspend “Israel” from international football tournaments, citing moral responsibility due to the ongoing war in Gaza.

In a letter addressed to Italian Football Federation (FIGC) president Gabriele Gravina, AIAC president Renzo Ulivieri stated that the decision was unanimous among the association’s national board and described it as a “necessary choice” driven by a “moral imperative”.

“The values of humanity, which underpin those of sport, compel us to oppose acts of oppression with terrible consequences,” Ulivieri stated, calling on FIFA and UEFA to take action against “Israel”. -almayadeen

Miles Sampa  & Nakachinda Report UPND govt to the US embassy

PF TAKES DEMOCRACY FIGHT TO U.S. EMBASSY
……..Opposition accuses HH Govt of silencing critics and capturing institutions

The opposition Patriotic Front (PF) yesterday escalated its fight against what it calls Zambia’s shrinking democratic space by taking its grievances directly to the U.S. Embassy in Lusaka.

Leader of the Opposition Miles Bwalya Sampa, accompanied by PF Secretary General Raphael Nakachinda and Central Committee member Isaiah Bwanga, held a closed-door meeting with U.S. Ambassador Michael Gonzales, where they submitted a dossier on governance and human rights concerns.

At the top of the PF’s complaint list was what they described as a “selective fight against corruption”, where only opposition figures are pursued while ruling party ministers and MPs accused of similar offenses escape scrutiny.

Sampa said the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has been turned into a political tool after stopping the PF from contesting by-elections, describing the move as “institutional capture” designed to weaken democracy and entrench the ruling UPND in power.

He further charged that freedom of speech, association, and protest has been systematically shut down, noting that “since 2021 not a single protest has been permitted.” Opposition lawmakers Munir Zulu and Maureen Mabonga have faced arrests over speech-related charges, while similar conduct by UPND officials has gone unpunished.

The PF delegation also raised concerns about alleged human rights abuses, including the Mufumbwe gold mine killings and the reported mistreatment of activist Francis Kapwepwe. They accused government of silencing once-vibrant civil society, creating what they called a climate of fear.

Another issue tabled was the controversial US$15,000 visa bond requirement for certain Zambians traveling to the United States, which the PF says punishes ordinary citizens rather than elites.

Sampa vowed the opposition would not remain silent, declaring: “We shall go everywhere possible to expose the UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema’s disregard of the rule of law, which has been replaced by the rule of man or woman across all three arms of government.”

GOVERNANCE UNDER FIRE: HON NAKACHINDA SAYS UPND HAS FAILED ZAMBIA

*GOVERNANCE UNDER FIRE: HON NAKACHINDA SAYS UPND HAS FAILED ZAMBIA*

_By Brian Matambo – Lusaka, Zambia_

The Secretary General of the Patriotic Front (PF) and of the Tonse Alliance, Hon. Raphael Nakachinda, has delivered a scathing critique of the United Party for National Development (UPND), declaring that after four years in office, President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration has not only failed to deliver on its promises but has “systematically destroyed” Zambia’s governance institutions.

Hon Nakachinda, speaking on State of the Nation hosted by Kennedy Mambwe at the PF Secretariat in Lusaka, accused the UPND of weaponising the police, compromising the judiciary, and manipulating electoral systems to entrench its hold on power. He framed the PF as the natural alternative ready to “rescue Zambians from this brutal regime.”

A GOVERNMENT OF BROKEN PROMISES
According to Nakachinda, the UPND’s 2021 campaign mantra, “Bally Will Fix It,” has collapsed under the weight of unmet pledges. “Instead of fixing, they have actually destroyed,” he said, pointing to the economy, the judiciary, and law enforcement as institutions now “deeply politicized.”

He stressed that UPND had promised immediate remedies, including stabilizing the kwacha and attracting billions in investment, but has failed to secure even modest financing such as the $1.3 billion IMF deal. “By their own standards, four years is too long for excuses,” he said.

RULE OF LAW “UNDER SIEGE”
Nakachinda placed strong emphasis on what he described as the collapse of the rule of law. He cited police brutality against opposition rallies, the selective application of the Public Order Act, and controversial Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) decisions that disqualified PF candidates in by-elections.

In reference to the failed Bill 7, accused President Hichilema of defying court orders and harbouring ill intentions to manipulate the delimitation exercise proposed in Bill 7 to secure a legislative advantage. “We are dealing with a dictator, full-blown,” Nakachinda charged. “Every evil will be defeated by good, if we remain consistent.”

THE PF’S PATH BACK TO POWER
Despite Zambia’s political history where former ruling parties rarely rebound, Nakachinda expressed confidence that PF can return to government in 2026. He argued that the rise of digital media and heightened citizen awareness makes it impossible for UPND propaganda to mask the “anguish and hunger” Zambians are facing.

“The citizenry is enlightened,” he said. “Poverty cannot be explained away by spin doctors. If people are hungry, they are hungry.”

ON UNITY AND SUCCESSION
Addressing internal PF matters, Hon Nakachinda clarified that recent bans on endorsements of potential candidates were meant to maintain unity, order and discipline during mourning for late President Edgar Chagwa Lungu. He insisted that the PF remains in consultation with the Lungu family and that the party will resolve leadership questions through proper structures, not premature campaigns.

He also reaffirmed PF’s commitment to the Tonse Alliance, cautioning opposition partners against reneging on previously agreed frameworks for unity. “Being President is not an achievement, it is a responsibility,” he said. “We must rise above narrow ambitions and focus on rescuing the nation.”

NRC SCANDAL
Hon Nakachinda seized on reports of fake National Registration Cards (NRCs) issued in Northern Province, calling it a “grave matter of national security.” He demanded accountability from Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu, describing the exercise as an attempt to disenfranchise voters in perceived opposition strongholds.

“Those issuing fake IDs must be arrested immediately,” he said. “This is abominable politics.”

“TIME TO PACK”
Hon Nakachinda concluded that the UPND has exhausted public patience and has no capacity to redeem itself. “The only thing this government can do now is prepare to pack,” he said. He urged citizens to remain peaceful and trust in the ballot box in 2026 to end what he called “four years of torment and anguish.”

ANALYSIS
Hon Nakachinda’s remarks underscore the PF’s strategy to position itself as the defender of Zambia’s democracy and economic future while portraying the UPND as authoritarian and inept. Central to this strategy is the demand for accountability from the judiciary. The manner in which courts handle PF-related cases, particularly the long-delayed consent order, will serve as a litmus test of whether Zambia’s judicial system retains its integrity or has been fully compromised by executive pressure. For Nakachinda, these decisions are not procedural technicalities but defining moments that will reveal whether the rule of law in Zambia is intact or fatally eroded.

At the same time, the UPND government may point to potential gains over the next twelve months, modest reductions in loadshedding, possible easing of fuel prices, and slight improvements in macroeconomic stability. Yet even such progress will not erase the lived realities of ordinary Zambians. Barbershops, salons, butcheries, and thousands of small businesses have endured four years of extreme loadshedding, economic strain, rising costs, and declining disposable incomes. The cumulative damage to livelihoods cannot be offset by incremental improvements in the twilight of a political term.

As Zambia inches toward the 2026 general election, the battle lines are clear: a ruling party seeking redemption through late-term reforms, and an opposition framing itself as the vehicle of democratic restoration and economic relief. For citizens, the deeper question may not be about short-term fixes but about whether governance itself can be trusted to serve the people, and whether institutions, starting with the judiciary, will rise above politics to uphold the nation’s democratic fabric.

His vitriolic vituperation against The Zambia We Want Spokesperson, Muhabi Lungu, had no modicum of intellectual argument simply “insults by any other name”.

This is not to say that the Zambian Whistleblower agreed with Muhabi Lungu’s analysis, and postulations on why opposition parties need to be united. But the attitude and language of Max Chongu was a throwback to the bad memories Zambians still have of the worst of the PF days. In fact Max Chongu, with his insult of the spirituality of the Adventists Dorcas uniform, and showboating with cars bought with money from an unfulfilled contract, was the stuff that convinced millions of Zambian voters that PF needed to go.

People, including ourselves, were almost forgetting that sad episode. But the piece that Max Chongu has written, reacting to what Muhabi Lungu said generally, and the specific examples he used about Citizens First President Harry Kalaba, is just a reminder that this cadre is unreformed. Perhaps the bad ways, and language are too ingrained to be so easily shed.

Rather than proving his commitment to protecting Kalaba, Chongu’s utter disrespect, and misplaced reaction, actually call into question the CF President’s judgment. Politics is about numbers, we accept, but when you hoover up unwholesome characters as youth activists, need you thrust them in the forefront of national debate that is clearly above their heads?

To say that Muhabi Lungu’s comments on Kalaba were motivated by hatred, jealousy and envy is just plain shallow, and cut-and-paste UPND punchline. Is it that CF President Kalaba lacks members with requisite intellectual muscle to engage in the debate Muhabi Lungu raised? Why on earth would he allow intellectually bankrupt brutes such as Max Chongu to soil the critical  debate on opposition unity for the 2026 elections?

This is a very serious debate, needing serious minds to address issues Muhabi Lungu raised, whether we agree with him or not. It is not one that a serious opposition President should leave in the hands of youths who learnt their politics in the cadre-era most Zambians want to forget.

If Harry Kalaba believes it is wrong for President Hakainde Hichilema to be silent after his Secretary General,  Batuke Imenda, called Archbishop of Lusaka Dr Alick Banda as the Lucifer of Zambia, he should not be quiet when Max Chongu uses base and insulting language against political leaders of other parties.

And, Chongu has the gall to pretend that calling Muhabi Lungu a political nonentity is not insulting.

As neutral observers, the ZWB will not let such insolence slide. Be warned.

GOVERNMENT HAS FAILED ZAMBIANS ON COST OF LIVING – MONDE

GOVERNMENT HAS FAILED ZAMBIANS ON COST OF LIVING – MONDE

Lusaka… Thursday August 28, 2025 – Former Agriculture Minister Greyford Monde has challenged the government’s claims of having fulfilled 80% of its campaign promises, arguing that such statements show a lack of awareness of the daily struggles Zambians are facing.

Featuring on The Political Podcast, Monde said government officials appear disconnected from reality because, while they live comfortably, they assume that ordinary citizens share the same lifestyle.

He pointed out that many Zambians are struggling to survive, with some unable to afford even three meals a day, while government leaders continue to live in comfort.

Mr. Monde alleged that the Government has failed to address the rising cost of living, which he said is the clearest indicator of its failure to improve people’s livelihoods.

“The cost of living reflects the combined impact of all economic factors. If citizens cannot afford basic necessities, it means the government has failed,” he said.

Mr. Monde further criticized the ruling party’s “kwenyu” slogan, describing it as a mockery to the suffering population.

CALL FOR A NATIONAL INDABA

CALL FOR A NATIONAL INDABA

i. The Government of the Republic of Zambia has since 1964 been attempting to build a state that is united, independent, and democratic.

The 1964 Independent Constitution left us with an executive presidency that quickly degenerated into a dictatorship culminating into the removal of the referendum clause in the constitution in 1969 and the imposition of the one party state after 1972.

The Constitutional amendments that were made in 1991 and subsequent years 1996, 2016 did not abolish the one party state clauses and all constitutional amendments were anchored on personal and partisan expediency as opposed to being democratic.

ii. Since the 2021 Presidential, Parliamentary and local government elections, the country has experienced political and social fragmentation, unbridled corruption and abuse of office, break-down in the rule of law, poor governance, and general economic decline resulting in high cost of living.

iii. There is a cry by the people for change to ensure that stability and peace in the country is retuned, to tackle the challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality and the respect for the rule of law.

iv. The people have been demanding that the next government to be elected in 2026 must entrench constitutionalism and the rule of law and usher in a new period of peace, justice, fair play and development for all.

v. It is in this vein that the members of the National Consultative conference (NCC) plan to hold an indaba or a  National Conference to discuss these matters and advise all concerned on our resolutions. Delegates to the Indaba shall include representatives of political parties, progressive mass organizations and independent nationals.

vi. The NCC is a non-profit, non- state and non-partisan Trust whose mandate among others includes event planning and education in partnership with other concerned citizens and civic organizations plan to hold an Indaba on a date and venue to be advised.

vii. The NCC is cognisant of the fact that amending the Republican Constitution in 2025 has been deferred by our government, pledge to cooperate and advocate for the enactment of  a holistic, voluntary inclusive peoples’ democratic constitution as provided for by the current Republican Constitution.

viii. It is hoped that the delegates to the National Conference will reaffirm their collective commitment to forge and uphold the popular unity among the people of Zambia and support a movement or party that is committed to actualizing the following fundamental goals;

a. Enactment of a new democratic constitution in 2026 with a referendum clause that will stand the test of time and usher in respect of the Constitution, observe the Bill of rights, and insure the respect of  the rule of law.

b. The reduction of  the cost of living by making basic needs such as food, medicine, shelter, transport, electricity affordable and available  to all by championing developmental fiscal and monetary policies.

c. The enforcement of  Zero tolerance against Tribalism, Provincialism, Nepotism, Sexism, racism and all chauvinist practices that have tended to  divide the people and spread unnecessary discord.

d. Ensure Unity in diversity of Zambians and advance Zambian culture and way of life and ensure the equal development of all regions and nationalities.

e. The professionalization of  the public service, ensuring the  practice of merit-based appointments and ending nepotism, favouritism and cronyism.

f. The enforcement of  policies on  Zero tolerance against corruption and abuse of office, enhancing good governance and uphold integrity of leadership and reclaim all stolen public assets.

g. The strengthening of programs and policies towards Eradication of poverty, Illiteracy, enhancement of  social justice, facilitating the creation of employment opportunities by enabling both public and private investment in manufacturing, housing, roads, railways, energy and other  public goods such as education, health and social security and national defence.

h. The empowerment of farmers by subsidizing production and supporting small businesses by providing affordable credit, market support and training opportunities.

i. The development of programs that will ensure affordable electricity and petroleum products and ensure their availability to all, ending electricity load shading and reducing the cost of petroleum products.

j. The advancement of polices that insure the de-politicization of  the security services including the Zambia Police Service and security organs of government to insure Peace, stability and  safe communities and invest in the security and defence of Zambia.

k. The insurance of the policy of enabling more money in people’s pockets, equitable and fair taxation, ending capital flight and ensuring Zambian ownership of strategic enterprises such as Mines, Banks and big enterprises that provide public goods.

l. The Advancement of  the principles of non-alignment in international relations and insure the friendship with all Zambia’s neighbours and other countries based on mutual respect.

Zambia Secures Hosting Rights for Three Major African Conferences in 2026

Zambia Secures Hosting Rights for Three Major African Conferences in 2026

Zambia has officially won the bid to host three high-profile continental conferences in May 2026, marking a significant milestone for the country’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector. The announcement was made following a competitive bidding process against Botswana and Malawi, with the final decision revealed in Ghana on August 22.

The three events—the African Marketing Confederation Conference, the African ICT Conference, and the Africa Supply Chain Conference—will take place in Livingstone from May 25 to 27, 2026. Organizers expect over 2,000 delegates from across Africa and beyond, positioning Zambia as a rising hub for business tourism and professional networking.

Minister of Tourism, Honourable Rodney Sikumba, described the achievement as a “defining moment” for Zambia’s economic diversification strategy. “Tourism is central to our growth agenda, and MICE tourism is one of the fastest-growing segments. This win affirms Zambia’s readiness to host world-class events and strengthens our reputation as a center for innovation, culture, and commerce,” Sikumba said during the ceremonial handover in Lusaka.

Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM) President Mwewa Besa emphasized the power of collaboration in securing the bid. “This victory belongs to the nation. It reflects the strength of our partnerships and will open doors for business, regional cooperation, and the promotion of Zambia’s professional expertise,” he said.

Zambia Tourism Agency CEO Matongo Matamwandi echoed the sentiment, noting that MICE tourism plays a critical role in boosting visibility and attracting investment. “We will continue working with stakeholders to expand capacity and market Zambia globally as a premier MICE destination,” Matamwandi stated.

The Ministry of Tourism extended its gratitude to ZIM, the Information and Communication Technology Association of Zambia (ICTAZ), the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS), and the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) for their leadership and teamwork in securing this historic opportunity.

Livingstone, known for its proximity to the iconic Victoria Falls, is expected to benefit significantly from the influx of delegates, further enhancing its status as a gateway for both leisure and business tourism.

ZCTU HAILS GOVT’S ANTI-CORRUPTION DRIVE

Speaking during a quarterly press briefing on the state of the nation in Lusaka, Mr Beene called for a comprehensive audit of ZAMMSA and reforms in procurement systems to safeguard public resources.

Meanwhile, ZCTU president Blake Mulala condemned irresponsible leadership in key public institutions, stressing that those entrusted with critical services must be held accountable.

French Montana and Sheikha Mahra sparked dating rumors last year via many extravagant outings and life updates.

French Montana has kept things pretty low-key for the past few months, dismissing his rap beef rumors and just enjoying life. However, amid this chill era, TMZ Hip Hop reports that he just underwent a huge life change, as his representative reportedly told the publication that he tied the knot with Sheikha Mahra, the Princess of Dubai.

According to this report, they are still figuring out the finer details of the wedding, such as the date and other logistical considerations. They also reportedly had a couple of months to celebrate, as their engagement reportedly took place at Paris Fashion Week this past June after he walked on a runway.

For those unaware, French Montana and Shiekha Mahra sparked dating rumors last year thanks to some luxurious outings and social media activity. Congratulations to the happy couple on this next step of their journey, a massive one for any relationship – royal or otherwise – to take.

We will see if either individual takes to social media soon to address any of this. They probably have some huge celebrations to make plans for, and a lot of extravagance and opulence to set up.

French Montana Engaged

As for other details surrounding this reported engagement, such as the story behind it and what actually happened, we don’t know as of writing this article. We will have to wait for them to share the happy moment or recall it online, but we’re not rushing anyone. After all, they can be as private or open as they want.

Elsewhere, though, French Montana’s catching flack from his collaborators. Concerning his hit “All The Way Up,” Fat Joe recently claimed that French is always trying to take credit for that track.

“He be talking about, ‘It’s that golden voice…'” Joey Crack remarked on his podcast with Jadakiss. “He just take too much credit for it… There’s a lot of n***as signed to delusional records. I’m being honest with you. There’s a lot of artists signed to delusional records.”

Nevertheless, congratulations to Sheikha Mahra and the “Outta Here” MC. We wish them nothing but the best in their relationship, careers, and lives.

121 political killings dockets returned to KZN task team amid interference claims

121 political killings dockets returned to KZN task team amid interference claims

A total of 121 case dockets linked to political killings in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) have been returned to the province’s Political Killings Task Team (PKTT), following allegations that senior officials interfered with investigations.

KZN Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi accused Police Minister Senzo Mchunu of undermining the PKTT to protect politically connected individuals.

Mkhwanazi said Mchunu ordered the unit’s disbandment in March 2025, transferring the dockets to SAPS headquarters in Pretoria, allegedly stalling cases to shield figures including businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and political operative Brown Mogotsi. Reports claim WhatsApp messages and forensic evidence support these allegations.

Since its formation in 2018, the PKTT has secured 436 arrests and 128 convictions, including 29 life sentences, in over 600 cases of political violence in the province. The return of the dockets follows public pressure and the creation of the Madlanga Commission, led by retired Constitutional Court judge Mbuyiseli Madlanga, which will investigate interference claims.

President Cyril Ramaphosa, who placed Mchunu on special leave, described the situation as a “serious threat to national security.” While an internal SAPS report disputes Mkhwanazi’s allegations, admitting only procedural flaws, families of victims continue to demand justice. The reinstatement of the dockets is seen as a vital step toward accountability in KZN’s politically charged murder cases.

SAHRC welcomes Equality Court’s hate speech ruling against Julius Malema

SAHRC welcomes Equality Court’s hate speech ruling against Julius Malema

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has welcomed a ruling by the Western Cape Equality Court, which found Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema and his party guilty of hate speech.

The judgment follows inflammatory remarks Malema made during a 2022 EFF provincial assembly, in which he appeared to advocate violence against a white man allegedly involved in an assault on an EFF member.

The court found statements such as “A revolution demands that at some point there must be k**lling” and references to punishing racists constituted hate speech under Section 10 of the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act.

Judge Nathan Erasmus rejected defenses that the comments were political rhetoric or metaphor, noting they showed clear intent to incite harm.

While no immediate penalties were imposed, Malema and the EFF were ordered to pay the complainants’ legal costs, with remedies such as apologies or retractions to be determined later.

The SAHRC hailed the verdict as a victory for constitutional protections against hate speech, saying it reinforces efforts to combat expressions that incite harm and division. The EFF has vowed to appeal, calling the judgment “fundamentally flawed.”

Political parties and civil society groups, including the Democratic Alliance and AfriForum, welcomed the ruling, citing Malema’s history of divisive rhetoric.

Young Thug & Ralo Trade Scathing Shots Amid Snitching Scandal

Ralo is mad at Young Thug for having folks cut him off for allegedly fake snitching accusations, whereas Thugger’s happy to distance himself.

Young Thug continues to deny the snitching allegations against him concerning Peewee Roscoe, but Ralo isn’t buying any of it. The two former friends took to Twitter recently to send scathing shots at each other.

For those unaware, this all started when resurfaced audio of Thug allegedly speaking on Peewee during a police investigation hit the Internet again. He denied these accusations, whereas Peewee himself cleared Young Thug’s name. However, he suggested that Gunna, Ralo, and YSL Duke were the real “rats” here, which the Atlanta rapper took issue with.

Ralo blasted Peewee Roscoe online, and then set his sights on the “With That” hitmaker. He claimed he lied to the feds, but that Thugger still told Lil Baby to cut him off for allegedly fake snitching allegations. In fact, Ralo even brought up Wunna and suggested they are unjustly suffering from fake snitching allegations in the same way Thug is right now.

In response, the UY SCUTI artist claimed on Twitter that there’s a difference between the two situations. “Your friends said you didn’t lie,” he wrote. “You actually told on real people. You said that somebody actually did something that they was arrested for. I made an honest mistake saying that we sold Lil Wayne Weed to try to prove to the detectives that we wasn’t beefing with him. See the difference? And let’s not forget u told fani [Willis] u would take the stand on me and [YFN} lucci in our case to get out of jail [crying-laughing emoji]. I tried to free my mans. U tried to fry yours [crying-laughing emojis] @ralofamgoon.”

Ralo Allegations
“Well let’s hear it out my friend mouth did I tell on him py,” Ralo clapped back via his Twitter page concerning Young Thug’s snitching allegations and those against himself. “I went FEDERAL you went Fulton County, I never met a Fani in my life. Show your proof like I’m showing mines AND FYI I WAS ONE OF THE ONLY NAS SCREAMING #FreeLucci YOU SNAKE A** N*A IS THE REAL REASON ATLANTA IS BROKEN. Suspected Minneapolis school shooter posted haunting video laughing and showing off guns before allegedly killing two students

0

The suspected shooter who shot through the windows of a Minneapolis church shared a disturbing video before allegedly killing two children and injuring 17 others.

23-year-old Robin Westman has been named by Minneapolis Police as the suspect who opened fire at children sitting in the pews during Mass at the Annunciation Catholic School on Wednesday (27 August).

Westman died by suicide after the shooting.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said at a news conference the incident took place just before 8.30am local time, as the shooter arrived at the school with a number of weapons, including a shotgun, rifle and pistol.

Two children, aged eight and ten died, while 14 other children and three parishioners in their eighties were injured, but are expected to survive, the chief said.

The alleged shooter uploaded at least two videos to a YouTube channel titled Robin W before the platform removed it on Wednesday.

In one video, they display a number of weapons and ammunition, some inscribed with phrases including ‘kill Donald Trump’ and ‘Where is your God?’

Another video depicts them pointing to two windows in what appears to be a sketch of the church, before stabbing the drawing with a large knife.

The date of that upload remains unclear.

There’s also a notebook, written partly in English and partly in Cyrillic script with scattered Russian words, with suggestions of deep self-hatred.

Other passages also detail their early ‘morbid obsession’ with other school shooters.

FBI director Kash Patel said on X that the shooting is being investigated as an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime targeting Catholics.

“FBI agents are on scene, and we ask everyone to keep potential victims, civilians or law enforcement in harm’s way in your prayers,” he wrote.

While federal officials identified Westman as transgender, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey condemned hostility directed toward ‘our transgender community’.

In 2020, a judge approved a petition filed by Westman’s mother to change the name from Robert to Robin, noting that the petitioner ‘identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification’, according to People.

According to the New York Post however, in one of the videos uploaded, a manifesto written by Robin reads: “I don’t want to dress girly all the time but I guess sometimes I really like it. I know I am not a woman but I definitely don’t feel like a man.

“I really like my outfit. I look pretty, smart and modest. I think I want to wear something like this for my shooting.”

Westman’s mother reportedly worked at the south Minneapolis school until her retirement in 2021. According to NBC affiliate KARE 11, Westman had attended the school for at least a year and was seen there within the past week while teachers prepared for the new school year.

Husband tries to have wife killed again after being jailed for trying to orchestrate her death years earlier

A New York podiatrist tried to have his wife killed again just a few years on from his first murder plot being foiled.

Ira Bernstein spent four years behind bars after plotting to kill his ex-wife Susan in 2017 but he clearly didn’t learn his lesson, as he pled guilty once again this week to tampering with evidence in connection to a second murder-for-hire bid.

According to the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, Bernstein tried to kill his wife again just one year after his release from prison in 2021, this time asking a landscaper to kill Susan before attempting to get documents destroyed.

The pair were married in 2001 but things were rocky throughout and while they share children together, they eventually divorced in 2016, with Susan also filing for a restraining order against her ex-husband.

After he was found guilty in 2017, he appeared tearful and remorse in court at his sentencing, but his ex-wife wasn’t buying it.

He said that he was ‘humiliated, humbled and frankly embarrassed,’ and said he would be a ‘compassionate and good-hearted man in the future’ as he faced the woman he’d tried to have killed in court.

“To Susan, we had a very stressful marriage, but no matter what happened there is no justification for entering into a conspiracy to have you murdered,” he added.

However, she took the opportunity to blast him for all his wrongdoings, describing him as ‘evil’, and a ‘deadbeat dad’ who lived in luxury while his children’s lives suffered.

She said: “He hasn’t paid a penny of support money to me or the children for almost five months since he pled guilty in January.

“While we are living in a hell, a constant state of crisis, Ira has been living with Kelly in the luxurious Montebello Pines and supporting his high-flying lifestyle.

“He has the money. But won’t even pay for my children’s therapist to help them heal from the damage he permanently caused.”

Prosecutors suggest that Bernstein and his new partner Kelly Gribeluk paid $100,000 to a killer for hire for them to kill Susan, but were promptly turned in by the prospective hitman.

And in 2023, Susan filed another official civil lawsuit and Bernstein pled guilty once again earlier this week, with reports suggesting he could face anywhere between one and a half to three years in jail when he is sentenced in December.

His sister Jaclyn Goldberg has also been accused of helping him to tamper the evidence, although she could see charges against her dropped in six months depending on good behaviour.

Crimes such as this are unfortunately all too common, with one husband in US charged with a double murder after a bizarre love triangle case, while a doctor in Hawaii was accused of trying to push his wife of a cliff.

Scientist explains ‘truth’ behind Bermuda Triangle after mystery is ‘solved’

A scientist reckons he knows why the Bermuda Triangle has caused so many disappearances over the years.

The Bermuda Triangle, a 700,000km area in the North Atlantic Ocean, has been shrouded in mystery because of what’s happened within its boundaries between Florida, Puerto Rico and Bermuda.

Throughout the years, numerous ships and planes have vanished without a trace, earning it the ominous moniker of the ‘Devil’s Triangle’.

The legend of Flight 19 is said to be the first reported incident of a plane going missing in the triangle.

It mysteriously disappeared after taking off from Florida, along with the rescue plane which was deployed. Apparently, no wreckage or bodies were found.

Fifty ships and 20 planes are said to have vanished in the region.

After years of conspiracy theories, Dr Simon Boxall, of the University of Southampton, thinks he has ‘solved’ the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle.

The educator believes that the triangle’s ‘rogue waves’ produced by a ‘perfect storm’ is the reason why so many ships go missing.

He said colossal water crests can reach heights of up to 100 feet in the Bermuda Triangle. If two such waves follow in rapid succession, a ship can find itself being suspended between them, with one wave at its bow and another at its stern.

Under those circumstances, pretty much nothing can be done to stop the ship from getting destroyed.

“You get two or three storms coming together and, what happens is, the waves from different storms interact,” Dr Boxall told the Daily Mail.

“The biggest waves you get from a single storm are usually about 10 meters, 12 meters tops – which [is] very big, but not sort of horrendous big.

“Then, the same way as you usually get these beat frequencies, you get the same thing with water waves.

“And so, if you get two troughs that happen to occur at the same time, or two peaks at the same time, they catch up.”

The oceanographer, who said that the mystery is easily solvable by science, explained: “So you end up with, rather than a 10-meter wave, a 20-meter wave.

“If you get three different wave systems coming together, you can get a 30-meter wave, but they also cancel out. So you get this sort of beat pattern… sort of a few low waves and some big waves and so on.”

When it comes to the various planes that have vanished in the region, he claims that the ‘evidence’ is there for all to see.

Speaking about the 1945 disappearance of Navy bombers on a training flight, Dr Boxall insisted: “The person in charge of the training flight was renowned for being a bit of an a*** and wouldn’t ever listen to anyone. He misread the land. He misread where he was.

“The story is that you’ve got this experienced flight going out, so there must be something weird going on… the reality is they weren’t [experienced].”

Minneapolis school shooter Robin Westman confessed he was “tired of being trans”

The shooter who opened fire at a Minneapolis Catholic Church when students were having mass confessed that he “was tired of being trans” and wished he “never brain-washed” himself.

Robin Westman made the confession in a manifesto posted online before he k!lled two students aged 8 and 10 and wounded dozens more at a Minneapolis church.

In a twisted handwritten journal he shared on YouTube before the massacre Westman complained about his long hair and his decision to transition.

“I only keep [the long hair] because it is pretty much my last shred of being trans. I am tired of being trans, I wish I never brain-washed myself,” he wrote, according to a translation by The Post.

“I can’t cut my hair now as it would be an embarrassing defeat, and it might be a concerning change of character that could get me reported. It just always gets in my way. I will probably chop it on the day of the attack.”

Westman, 23, later wrote that he regretted being trans and just wished he were a girl.

“I regret being trans.. I wish I was a girl I just know I cannot achieve that body with the technology we have today. I also can’t afford that,” he said.

Westman opened fire on the Annunciation Catholic Church and School Wednesday morning, August 27, while students were praying at Mass, k!lling two kids and wounding 17 others before taking his own life.

Westman applied to change his birth name from Robert to Robin in Dakota County, Minn., when he was 17 years old, according to court documents. That name change was granted in January 2020.

The petition noted that Westman “identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification.”

But, five years later, he seemed to have have doubts about his new identity.

He wrote on one page of his notebook “I don’t want to dress girly all the time but I guess sometimes I really like it. I know I am not a woman but I definitely don’t feel like a man.”

Westman’s chilling writings revealed his violent fantasies about k!lling children, including wanting to be the “scary horrible monster standing over those powerless kids.”

He also glorifies the Sandy Hook massacre, in which 20 schoolchildren were k!lled.

Westman’s videos, posted hours before the shootings, also show the phrases “k!ll Donald Trump” and “for the children” scrawled on gun magazines.

His notebook also showed how he had specifically targeted Annunciation Catholic Church and School, where he graduated from grade school in 2017.

His mother, Mary Grace Westman, spent five years working as a secretary at the school until she retired in 2021.

Westman started shooting through the church’s stained glass windows with a rifle, shotgun and pistol around 8:30 a.m. while schoolchildren and parents were praying. He bought the weapons legally, authorities confirmed. Two students were k!lled “where they sat” in their pews, while 17 others were injured, some critically, police said.

Argentine President Javier Milei is pelted by stones ‘over corruption scandal’

Argentinian President Javier Milei was pelted with stones while campaigning for an upcoming election amid an alleged corruption scandal.

While riding in the back of a pickup truck on Wednesday to greet supporters in Lomas de Zamora, a city near Buenos Aires, Milei encountered hostility from demonstrators.

Protesters threw plants, rocks, and bottles at the President’s motorcade and personal vehicle.

The right-wing leader, who is campaigning for the October mid-term elections, had to be whisked away from the scene by his security detail.

Russian kids as young as 8 seen handling AK-47s and grenades in military drill

Russian children as young as 8 have been taught how to throw hand grenades and carry rifles at a summer camp designed to train up the next generation of Vladimir Putin’s military.

The army-style training, supervised by soldiers who have fought in Russia’s war in Ukraine, saw young children given what looks like real rifles at a camp in the Rostov region, close to the Ukrainian border.

“We threw hand grenades and fired dummy shots,” 8-year-old participant Ivan Glushchenko said excitedly when asked what his favorite part had been during the camp, which is open to both boys and girls.

About 83 children — ages 8-17 — participated in last week’s activities, including a “route march” along the River Don involving running and crawling on their bellies across sand and shallow water while holding weapons and wearing camouflage uniforms.

“I nearly di£d!” one teenage girl said, while her friend said that the two had carried out the march “three times.”

Another young camper, David, said he had been able to test his own limits at the camp.

“It allowed me to find out how strong my willpower is,” he said.

One of the instructors, Alexander Shopin, was wounded while fighting in Ukraine, and is awaiting surgery.

Despite that, he brought his middle daughter along to take part in the camp.

“It’s not the first time I’ve taken part in this route march. I like it – to pass my experience to the children. You can see how a family is forged out of them,” Shopin said.

He insisted his daughter had enjoyed the camp, even though she found it difficult.

“To run as part of a team and not to let her friends down – this is what she likes,” he said.

The camp is part of Putin’s attempts to indoctrinate even young children to be prepared for eventual military service and instill patriotism in Russian youth.

“Patriotic training is very important. They don’t want to hang out in back alleyways. It’s much more fun for them here,” instructor Vladimir Yanenko said.

“Why I am here? It’s because I want to tie my future with military service. To serve my country and be loyal to my cause until the very end,” said one of the older boys, Anton.

South Korea has approved a nationwide ban on mobile phones in school classrooms

South Korea has approved a nationwide ban on mobile phones in school classrooms, joining other nations in efforts to reduce social media use among minors.

Officials announced Thursday, August 28 that the bill, passed by the National Assembly on Wednesday, will take effect in March next year. The law prohibits smartphones and other smart devices in classrooms, except when used for educational purposes or as assistive tools for students with disabilities or special learning needs.

The Education Ministry stated that the measure aims to protect students’ right to learn and support teachers in maintaining focus during lessons.

Lawmakers highlighted that the issue had been contentious for years due to concerns over human rights. However, the National Human Rights Commission recently concluded that restrictions are justified given smartphones’ negative effects on learning and emotional well-being.

Despite this, the legislation has drawn criticism from groups like the left-wing Jinbo Party, which argues that the law infringes on students’ digital rights and limits their ability to develop responsible online habits.

The move places South Korea alongside countries such as Australia and the Netherlands, which have also tightened rules on mobile phone use in schools.

ZED FARMER’S FAMILY RESPONDS TO MURDER CHARGES AGAINST HER

ZALOUMIS FAMILY RESPONDS TO MURDER CHARGES AGAINST MARIA

Kabwe – August 28, 2025 – The family of Maria Zaloumis has issued a public statement following confirmation by the Zambia Police Service that she is among five individuals charged with the murder of 22-year-old Enock Simfukwe Kasengele.

Earlier today, Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga announced that Chowa Police Station in Kabwe had concluded investigations into the case and formally charged five suspects, including Maria Zaloumis, aged 40.

The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to appear in court soon.

Speaking on behalf of the Zaloumis family, Maria’s sister, In’utu Zaloumis, confirmed receiving the news of the charges and reiterated the family’s stance on the matter.

“We have received the news of my sister Maria being charged with murder along with others by the police in Kabwe,” Ingutu said. “We have stated from the very beginning and re-state yet again as a family that there’s the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in Zambia. We hope that will be the case for Maria. She is my sister, she is a mother, we love her.”

In’utu also made a heartfelt appeal to the Zambian public, urging restraint and compassion in the face of growing speculation surrounding Maria’s arrest.

She emphasized the importance of separating the legal proceedings from Maria’s family ties, particularly her connection to their mother, who serves as chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

“I appeal to fellow Zambians not to harshly judge Maria or continue linking her to our mother’s position. These are separate matters, and Maria deserves to be treated fairly under the law,” In’utu said.

The other suspects named in the police statement include Nathaniel Barthrem, a Nigerian national; Daniel Chiluwa, a farm manager; Fortune Mwitangati; and Gift Daka–all of whom are residents of the Montana farming area.

There has been zero protests allowed since 2021- Miles Sampa

Miles Bwalya Sampa writes…

Thursday 28th August, 2025

Earlier today the SG of PF Hon Nakachinda, MCC Isaiah Bwanga and I were at the US embassy in Lusaka and had a meeting with the US Ambassador  His Excellency Michael Gonzales.

We presented and discussed a number of National, Public and diaspora concerns as regards governance, selective corruption fight, selective ethnic arrests or justice, stoppage of the PF by the ECZ from participating in by-elections, capture of public institutions for partisan or hold on power advantage.

This also includes stoppage of freedoms of speech, association or expression. There has been zero protests allowed since 2021, arrests of opposition MPs & ignoring of ruling party MPs or Ministers that commit similar so called speech crimes (sedition), zero vibrant or silenced civil society, Mufumbwe Gold mine killings, Human Rights abuse on Francis Kapwepwe, the $15,000 visa bond requirement etc etc.

We shall go everywhere possible to expose the UPND & HH disregard of the ‘Rule of Law’ in preference for the ‘Rule of Man or Woman’ in all 3 arms of government namely Executive, Legislature & Judiciary plus the ECZ (Electoral Commission of Zambia).

The oppression of Zimbabweans is aided by the oppressed themselves- Hopewell Chin’ono

By Hopewell Chin’ono

I was talking to a South African friend last week who asked me why Zimbabweans accept the political nonsense happening in Zimbabwe.

I told her that Zimbabwe’s former Vice President, Simon Muzenda, once said that even if ZANUPF put up a baboon, Zimbabweans would still vote for that baboon. This is not an opinion, it is a fact. Those were his exact words. “If we give you a baboon, you vote for that baboon.”

Muzenda’s assessment was very correct. He was very right. The oppression of Zimbabweans is aided by the oppressed themselves.

They go and buy fuel from service stations owned by Mnangagwa and his criminal cartels. They go and shop in supermarkets owned by Mnangagwa’s people.
They bank with institutions owned by Mnangagwa and his cronies.

They knowingly buy goods from businesses controlled by Mnangagwa’s criminal cartels. They have alternatives, yet they choose to aid their own oppression.

You can never truly assist such a people, a people who cannot even do the bare minimum for themselves to immobilise the cruel political system that suffocates them.

The system survives and thrives on money, but the political elites in the opposition will never talk about these things because they too have been co-opted.

In the end, the cycle of oppression continues; not just through the power of the oppressor, but through the compliance and complicity of the oppressed.

Zimbabwe is a lost cause, no leadership on both ends, no hope for the future as the oppressed aid their oppression!

You will never hear a leader of any purportedly big opposition party in Zimbabwe openly saying that Mnangagwa is a thief, or that Mnangagwa is corrupt and that he leads criminal cartels — calling him by name. You will never hear that in Zimbabwe.

The only people who say such things are those on the periphery. But as the old African saying goes, you do not talk when you are eating and when you have food in your mouth. It is considered bad table manners.

Their silence is not born of caution or strategy, but of complicity and comfort. Once they are allowed a seat at the table, they stop speaking truth to power.
Instead of challenging the system head-on, they become part of the performance, pretending to oppose while carefully avoiding any words that might jeopardise their place at the feast. They just share empty and vague political statements.

And so the suffering of ordinary Zimbabweans continues, while the ruling elite and their so-called opponents share the spoils in silence.

The ordinary people don’t help the situation on the other hand. They will go and buy their fuel from ZUVA. They will go and bank with FBC or CBZ.
They will go and patronise in businesses that are owned by the ZANUPF elites. That’s where they take their money to and buy goods.

And as I said, they have got alternatives, but they choose to participate in their oppression.
They can go and buy elsewhere, but they actually knowingly go and buy from those who oppress them. Such a people can’t be helped, my friends, until they wake up. There is zero political consciousness, if you remind them of these things, they actually turn against you in defence of the opposition ZANUPF puppets.

If you look at countries like South Africa, people boycotted businesses linked to the apartheid system wherever they could. They deliberately refused to patronise those businesses. The masses were also led by leaders in the ANC and the PAC to do exactly that.

But in Zimbabwe, you will never see such a thing. And I am telling you this — I will donate $1,000 if any senior Zimbabwean opposition leader dares to lead a boycott campaign.

It will never happen, because they are co-opted, they are captured. If any of these so-called opposition leaders ever do it, I will give $1,000 to a charity of your choice. I can tell you here and now, my money is safe!

So I want to declare unequivocally that South African citizens are right when they say ZIMBABWEANS ARE COWARDS. We are, denying a self evident truth makes us dishonest cowards!

As Dr Nkosana Moyo said; Zimbabwean opposition politicians are not fighting for change, they are fighting to be included in the looting.
