Kanye West has fired off a cease and desist to Kim Kardashian regarding their kids

Kanye West has fired off a cease and desist to Kim Kardashian regarding their kids.

The rapper claims Kim Kardashian is exploiting their children. Kanye also claims she left their oldest child North all alone in a car while prancing around the Met Gala this week, and he is now he’s threatening to drag Kim to court over all of it.

The rapper’s lawyer, Kathy Johnson, sent Kim’s attorney, Laura Wasser, a cease and desist letter, “concerning the welfare and custody of Mr. West’s minor children: North West, Saint West, Chicago West, and Psalm West.”

Kanye West fires off cease and desist to Kim Kardashian regarding their kids

In the cease and desist, Kanye claims Kim violated his rights and their divorce settlement in 3 ways: First, Kanye says Kim brought North to the Met Gala in NYC earlier this week, and claims she left their 11-year-old daughter unattended in a vehicle during portions of the event.

Ye also claims Kim ignored his demands not to post “images and videos” of North on TikTok.

Second, Kanye says Kim has denied him “meaningful access” to his children, which violates their custody agreement for equal parenting and decision making.

Ye notes he has not seen Saint so far this year, and has had “unreasonably restricted” interactions with North, Chicago, and Psalm.

His claim about Saint, which he earlier made on X, has been debunked, as there are photos of him with his 3 youngest kids in Japan back in January.

For his third and final point … Kanye says Kim is exploiting North for “personal or commercial gain” by posting online content of their daughter at public events. He says this “disregards his joint custodial rights and his stated opposition to his children’s public exposure.”

Sources connected to Kim told TMZ that Kanye has rarely asked to see the kids at all this year, and Kim has never denied him access when he wants to see them.

Xabi Alonso confirms he’s leaving Bayer Leverkusen to become Real Madrid coach

Xabi Alonso has confirmed that he will be departing Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season, ahead of a Real Madrid switch.

Alonso has long been linked to a return to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season, with pressure mounting on Ancelotti after a disappointing campaign with Los Blancos.

The Spanish manager led Leverkusen to an unbeaten domestic double last season, losing just one game across all fronts, the Europa League final in their final match of the campaign.

However, ahead of Sunday’s last home game of the season, Alonso has now announced that he will be leaving the club, with numerous reports indicating he departs for Real Madrid.

‘This week, the club and I have agreed these will be my last two games as Leverkusen coach,’ Alonso announced on Friday.

‘This is the right moment to announce it because we have always had good communication with the club.

‘We have to enjoy this moment with mixed emotions, it is emotional! I spoke to the players and the staff it was not easy.

‘We’ve had a great connection, and that’s been the key. They believed in me and they’ve followed me.

‘I want to have a proper goodbye this weekend.’

As Leverkusen’s manager, Alonso has taken charge of 138 games, winning 88 of them under an impressive 64 per cent win rate.

As well as being voted the Bundesliga’s coach of the season last year, the Spaniard was also crowned ‘Best Coach of the Year’ by Globe Soccer in 2024.

Trump’s base of support may soon fracture into two competing far-right factions- Expert says

President Donald Trump’s base of support may soon fracture into two competing far-right factions, according to one expert.

The Wall Street Journal’s Joshua Chaffin and Zusha Elinson reported Friday that two camps within the MAGA world are emerging and will likely battle for supremacy during Trump’s second term. They wrote that on one side are “tech bros racing to create a new future,” with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk as the quintessential example. On the other side are “conservative Catholics who yearn for an imagined past,” like Vice President JD Vance, who seek to upend the liberal establishment and return America to a “bygone era.”

According to Chaffin and Elinson, the “dark prince” of the tech wing of MAGA is Curtis Yarvin — a pro-feudalist writer who has called for democracy to be replaced with a monarch who would rule the United States like a CEO leads a tech company. And the conservative Catholic faction upholds ideologies like that championed by University of Notre Dame political philosopher Patrick Deneen.

Catholic theologian David Deane told the Journal that Deneen’s 2023 book “Regime Change” offered a prediction that the second Trump administration would put a torch to traditionally liberal institutions like universities, the media and the nonprofit sector. Deane opined that the ultimate goals of both factions are very different despite Trump managing to corral them under one tent.

“At some stage a civil war is coming to the Trump movement,” Deane said. “And I think Musk and Vance will be on two very different sides of that civil war.”

The Journal noted that during an appearance at Harvard University, Yarvin expanded on his view that democracy was “bunk” and defended his call for America to have a king unaccountable by law who could be free to impose reforms without Constitutional constraints. And he notably made a dig at modern conservative icon Christopher Rufo — who led the 2021 push against “critical race theory” and spearheaded the effort to oust former Harvard President Claudine Gay — as a “grifter.”

Deneen, for his part, has unleashed on the technocratic wing of the far right, deriding them as out-of-touch elites who “like nice restaurants.” While speaking at the 2021 National Conservatism Conference in Orlando, Florida, Deneen said MAGA-aligned tech billionaires espouse “an ideology of rapine and plunder — the stripping of wealth from a ship that they are sinking while busily stocking the lifeboats until the last moment when they will be able to cut loose.”

Ex-federal judge blasts Trump plan to suspend migrants’ legal protections

0

Retired U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin didn’t hold back Friday as she tore into White House adviser Stephen Miller’s suggestion that the Trump administration could unilaterally suspend migrants’ rights to challenge their detention in court.

Speaking to CNN’s Anderson Cooper hours after Miller made the eyebrow-raising comments, Scheindlin said flatly the suggestion is “ridiculous.”

“It’s loony to do that,” the retired federal judge said. “There’s no invasion.” Two judges have already ruled there’s no invasion under the Alien Enemies Act, she added.

“So there wouldn’t be a basis in the world to suspend the great writ – the writ of habeas corpus.”

Scheindlin, who served on the federal bench in New York, said Miller’s comments not only ignore a cornerstone of the U.S. Constitution, but also amounted to a “veiled threat” against judges.

“At the end of Stephen Miller’s little statement, he said, ‘We’ll see what the judges do. It depends if they do the right thing.’ That was another veiled threat against judges,” Scheindlin.

Legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin also noted the gravity of what Miller proposed.

“Talking about suspending habeas corpus is such a wild step,” he told Cooper on Friday. “The only time a president has done it unilaterally without the authorization of Congress was Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War.”

‘I didn’t break any laws’- Newark mayor slams arrest at ICE facility

Ras Baraka, the Democratic mayor of Newark, New Jersey, didn’t waste any time defending himself after his arrest outside an ICE facility sparked a chaotic scene that included protesters and several members of Congress who were on site.

“It was really humiliating and painful,” Baraka, who said he’s now facing a federal trespassing charge, told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on Friday.

Speaking out just hours after his release from federal custody, Baraka, a candidate for governor of New York, took to CNN to tell his side of the story – and denounce the charges. He said he was there in support of members of Congress and his capacity as mayor, not to protest, and was wrongfully “targeted.”

“After they told us to leave, we left and they began to try to arrest me,” Baraka said. “I shouldn’t say us. They targeted me and came after me specifically and arrested me.” He also slammed comments from Alina Habba, acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey and longtime Trump ally, that accused the Newark mayor of ignoring multiple warnings.

“The reality is, Alina Habba wasn’t there,” he said. “She doesn’t know what happened. I was there for over an hour in that space, and nobody ever told me to move.”

“Not a single person,” he added. “Not an officer from ICE, not any of the security guards, nobody told me to leave that place.”

But Baraka said he has no regrets.

“I don’t have any regrets at all,” Baraka told Collins. “I would do it again. I have a right to go to those facilities as the mayor of the city.”

“And it is not federal property,” he added. “It is, in fact, private property. GEO is privately owned.”

Leeds fan in a coma after falling from a tree during the club’s Championship-winning celebrations

A Leeds fan is reportedly fighting for his life in hospital after falling from a tree during the club’s Championship-winning celebrations this week.

The English club booked their spot in the Premier League after their win against Plymouth courtesy of Tottenham loanee Manor Solomon striking deep in stoppage time.

Football fan in a coma after falling from a tree during his team Championship-winning celebrations

Leeds then took their celebration to the streets on Monday, with over 150,000 fans turning out for the club’s trophy parade.

But as fans stormed the streets and scaled lampposts, traffic lights, and bus stops for a glimpse of their promotion heroes, tragedy struck in the midst of the celebrations.

Ed O’Brien is thought to have fallen from a tree in Millennium Square while taking part in the parade, with the 23-year-old promptly rushed to hospital.

A JustGiving page was launched in the wake of his serious injury, with a friend stating that O’Brien was ‘fighting for his life’ and in a coma.

The page has already exceeded its £70 target, raising a staggering £10,801 at the time of climbing.

As per the Sun, O’Brien’s mother Stacey Barker explained that he was not out of control when the tragic accident took place.

‘As far as I am aware, he had consumed alcohol, but I am confident he wasn’t paralytic as some posts are suggesting,’ Barker wrote.

‘I am also as confident as a mother can be that no other substance was involved.’

Barker also told the BBC: ‘Ed and his siblings are incredibly close and they’re feeling his absence acutely, as are his dad and I.’

O’Brien, who turned 23 last week, is currently being treated at Leeds General Infirmary.

Barker confirmed that O’Brien had undergone surgery, but that potential damage to his brain was currently unclear.

‘We wanted to minimise the countless untruths which are currently circulating around Ed’s condition and also to urge people to consider what they are writing on social media for Ed’s loved ones to see,’ Barker said.

‘We are going through one of the worst things a parent can go through and some of the unwarranted comments are further compounding our heartache as a family.

‘Ed is just a young man who made a mistake and he’s paying for it dearly

India’s cricket super-league is suspended, while Pakistan’s matches are moved abroad

India’s cricket board has reportedly suspended the money-spinning Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 tournament amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.

Officials decided to pause the richest tournament in cricket after a match Thursday was abandoned in Dharamsala, less than 200 kilometres (125 miles) from the northern city of Jammu, where explosions were reported hours earlier.

On a third day of exchanges between the nuclear-armed neighbours on Friday, India said it repulsed a wave of Pakistani drone and artillery attacks overnight.

Pakistan cricket has moved the remaining matches in its T20 league to the United Arab Emirates because of player safety, and now the IPL has stopped indefinitely, Press Trust of India and other reports said.

There was no immediate confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

But five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings wrote on X: “Nation first. Everything else can wait.”

Thursday’s match in the T20 league between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was abruptly called off after 10.1 overs due to an apparent floodlight failure in the Himalayan hill town of Dharamsala.

The stadium was swiftly evacuated and players whisked out of the ground in the team bus, according to media reports.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal was seen signalling to fans to leave the stadium.

The 10-team IPL, which features cricket stars from around the world, started on March 22.

Some Australian players based in India could fly home as soon as Saturday, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation said.

Cricket Australia said in a statement on Friday before the suspension news: “We continue to closely monitor the situation in Pakistan and India… and maintaining communication with our players and support staff currently in the region.”

India and Pakistan have fought two of their three full-scale wars over Kashmir, a disputed territory that both claim in full but administer separate portions of since gaining independence from British rule in 1947.

New Delhi launched missile strikes on Wednesday morning in retaliation for a deadly attack on tourists in Indian-run Kashmir two weeks ago that India blames on Pakistan.

Islamabad has denied any involvement.

More than 50 people have been k!lled on both sides of the border since Wednesday, in the worst violence in decades between the South Asian neighbours.

Vatican sets May 18 for Inauguration of new Pope Leo XIV

The inauguration mass of the newly elected head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, will take place on Sunday, May 18, in St. Peter’s Square, the Vatican announced.

World leaders are expected to gather for the event, to be held 10 days after the election of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as the first American head of the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics.

The Vatican said the new pontiff would meet with journalists on Monday and diplomats accredited to the Holy See the following Friday.

Pope Leo’s first general audience will be on Wednesday, May 21, and he will meet with members of the Roman Curia, top Vatican officials, on May 24.

Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was announced as the first U.S. pontiff on Thursday after white smoke emerged from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel following four rounds of voting in the papal conclave.

Nursery worker allegedly harmed infants by punching them in attacks filmed on CCTV

A court heard a nursery worker allegedly harmed infants by punching, grabbing and pinching them in attacks said to have been filmed on CCTV.

Roksana Lecka, 22, is accused of leaving scratches on the faces of the babies, along with pinch marks on their legs and stomachs, while working at the £1,900-a-month Riverside Nursery in Twickenham, south west London.

A jury was told the 23 kids were harmed under the 22-year-old’s care at the nursery, which looks after children aged between 10 months and two years.

A further charge of child cruelty involves an alleged incident from before she was employed there. At the time she was hired, there was no evidence to suggest she was a safeguarding risk, the jury was told.

CCTV footage appeared to show the woman pinching one of the children. The child was allegedly left with red marks as a result.

In clips played in court, Lecka is allegedly seen pinching a child in a number of places across their body. Another piece of footage appeared to show her yanking a child’s hair and pinching their face.

Another clip appeared to show Lecka vaping before she removed a baby from the crib and punched them in the side, Kingston Crown Court was told. With the same child, she allegedly grabbed them by the arm and pulled their hair, resulting in them hitting their head on the table.

Prosecutors say Lecka was seen looking around the room to see if other staff members were able to witness the behaviour. It wasn’t until a colleague reported they had seen her pinching a child’s leg that the headteacher checked CCTV footage. The footage allegedly showed her pinching the child on the nose, body, wrist and mouth.

When Lecka was arrested, she gave investigators a prepared statement which read: “I deny assaulting any children at the Riverside Nursery…I went to work that day and had a normal day. There were no accidents where any child seemed hurt. We have procedures for the handling of the children, which I adhered to. I am unaware how any injury to these children was caused.”

Lecka faces child cruelty charges. She has admitted to two charges and denies 21 further offences that allegedly took place between January and June 2024.

The trial continues.

THE TRUTH ABOUT KEITH MWEEMBE’S ELECTION

THE TRUTH ABOUT KEITH MWEEMBE’S ELECTION

By: Timmy

Emmanuel Mwamba’s recent article accusing President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND government of sponsoring Keith Mweemba’s election as FAZ President is nothing but a web of lies and propaganda. The facts speak for themselves:

✅ No UPND member was involved in campaigning for Keith Mweemba, and top party members were not even present during the election. Even Matomola, a UPND member, attended the event as a personal supporter of Adrian Kashala, not Keith Mweemba.

✅The election was fair, and Keith Mweemba won based on his merits. Kamanga’s loss was due to his own mistakes and lack of popularity, not because of any alleged sponsorship.
✅ The UPND government’s congratulations to Keith Mweemba after his win is a testament to their sportsmanship and respect for the democratic process.

Mwamba’s attempts to link President Hichilema to Keith Mweemba’s election are baseless and lack evidence. The truth is, Kamanga’s downfall was aided by his own silly mistakes and failure to focus on the bigger picture – the interest of football in Zambia.

The opposition’s failure to provide a strong alternative is evident in their inability to produce a credible candidate. It’s time for them to regroup and focus on unity, rather than spreading propaganda and lies. As seen in their article, they try to paint President Hichilema in a bad light, but their arguments are weak and lack substance.

The people have spoken, and Keith Mweemba is the rightful winner. Let’s move forward with sportsmanship and integrity. The opposition should take a cue from this and work on building a stronger, more united front, rather than resorting to baseless accusations and propaganda.

The facts clearly show that Keith Mweemba’s election was a fair and democratic process, and any attempts to undermine it are nothing but political mudslinging.

KEITH MWEEMBA ELECTED NEW FAZ PRESIDENT

Keith Mweemba has been elected as the new Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president after securing 45 votes during the reconvened elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Kabwe on Saturday.

The Lusaka-based lawyer will commence his four-year term from 2025 to 2029, succeeding Andrew Kamanga, who led FAZ from 2016 to 2025.

Mweemba beat a field of four other contenders, with incumbent Kamanga polling 20 votes, former FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala finishing with 17 votes, while Francis Hafwiti and Emmanuel Munaile failed to register a vote.

The elections, which were the only agenda item on the day as unanimously agreed by the Congress, were conducted under the supervision of a FIFA, CAF and COSAFA delegation led by FIFA’s Senior Manager for Member Associations Governance, Ahmed Harraz.

In the Vice Presidential race, the position will be decided by a runoff later today after none of the three candidates secured the required 50 percent plus one vote.

Incumbent Justin Mumba received 41 votes, while Mutale N’gandu came close with 40 votes. Christopher Kasale polled one vote, and will not proceed to the second round.

Meanwhile, Col. Priscilla Katoba was ratified as the FAZ Women’s National Representative, having gone unopposed. Her nomination was proposed by Green Buffaloes Women FC and seconded by FC MUZA.

REPUBLICAN PROGRESSIVE PARTY (RPP) OFFICIALLY ENDORSES PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA FOR 2026 ELECTIONS

REPUBLICAN PROGRESSIVE PARTY (RPP) OFFICIALLY ENDORSES PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA FOR 2026 ELECTIONS

Lusaka, Zambia – May 9, 2025

Republican Progressive Party (RPP) has formally endorsed President Hakainde Hichilema as its preferred presidential candidate for the 2026 general elections.

In a landmark announcement in celebration of its decade-long partnership with the UPND, which began in 2015 when the now-ruling party was still in opposition, RPP President Leslie Chikuse commended President Hichilema’s transformative leadership since taking office in August 2021, praising his administration’s achievements in economic recovery, democratic governance, youth empowerment, and social welfare.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka, Mr. Chikuse said “President Hichilema has proven beyond doubt that he is a servant leader who puts people first and the Republican Progressive Party proudly endorses him as the candidate who will carry Zambia forward in 2026.”

The RPP highlighted the country’s economic turnaround under President Hichilema’s administration, noting that Zambia inherited a crushing debt and economic instability from the previous Patriotic Front (PF) government.

However, Mr. Chikuse said through what he described as “disciplined leadership”, the country secured a $1.3 billion IMF deal, stabilised inflation, and restored investor confidence.

Beyond economic gains, the RPP pointed to improved democratic freedoms and rule of law. Mr Chikuse recalled how political violence and suppression had gripped the country in the PF era. In contrast, he said President Hichilema’s leadership has championed peace, free expression, and inclusive governance.

“He turned the page on fear and replaced it with freedom,” Mr. Chikuse said.

He also hailed government’s free education policy and youth employment which has seen the recruitment of over 30,000 teachers and 11,000 health workers, as well as the rollout of a landmark school feeding programme.

Mr. Chikuse said over 2.3 million have gone back to school since the introduction of the free education policy an initiative he praised as “a game changer” in tackling hunger and boosting school attendance, especially in drought-hit rural communities.

“These are not just numbers,” Mr. Chikuse stated. “They are symbols of hope and evidence of a government walking the talk.”

Mr. Chikuse further praised President Hichilema’s firm stance on corruption, reasserting the independence of oversight institutions such as the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), and Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).

He thanked President Hichilema for restoring Zambia’s image and noted his continued engagement with the Church and traditional leaders, preserving Zambia’s moral and cultural fabric.

THOSE STEALING DRUGS WILL BE ARRESTED, SAYS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA

THOSE STEALING DRUGS WILL BE ARRESTED, SAYS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA

…Declares war on corruption

President Hakainde Hichilema has vowed that individuals involved in the theft of medicines from public hospitals or any form of corruption will face the full force of the law.

Reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to fighting corruption, the President noted that such acts divert critical resources away from key sectors such as healthcare and education.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Kafulafuta Water Supply System in Masaiti, Mpongwe District, President Hichilema described the theft of medical supplies as an inexcusable crime against the people of Zambia.

He revealed that Cabinet has classified the theft of drugs as an economic crime, ensuring such cases will now be handled through the fast-track Economic Crimes Court.

“Those stealing drugs from our hospitals will be put behind bars. Corruption robs us of the funds intended for free education for our children and the meal allowances they depend on,” President Hichilema said.

“We will not relent in our efforts to apprehend those who steal from the Zambian people.”

The Head of State also reiterated his government’s commitment to inclusive national development, stressing that the UPND New Dawn administration is determined to complete all ongoing infrastructure projects, including those inherited from previous administrations, to ensure maximum benefit to the citizens.

President Hichilema expressed satisfaction with the completion of the Kafulafuta Water Supply System, a project which had stalled due to the Patriotic Front government’s debt default. He noted that its resumption was only made possible after the government successfully restructured debt with China’s Exim Bank.

The newly commissioned water project will serve four districts: Luanshya, Masaiti, Ndola, and Mpongwe.

In addition, the President directed the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure that the dam connected to the project is fully utilised for irrigation purposes.

President Hichilema is currently undertaking a two-day working visit to the Copperbelt Province. His itinerary includes an inspection of the dewatering operations at 28 Shaft in Luanshya, as well as public engagements with residents of the area.

TONSE ALLIANCE STATEMENT ON THE DECISION BY THE US GOVT TO SUSPENDED K1.4BN WORTH OF MEDICAL AID PER ANNUM TO ZAMBIA DUE TO RAMPANT THEFT OF MEDICINES

TONSE ALLIANCE STATEMENT ON THE DECISION BY THE US GOVT TO SUSPENDED K1.4BN WORTH OF MEDICAL AID PER ANNUM TO ZAMBIA DUE TO RAMPANT THEFT OF MEDICINES

Liberty House, 9th May 2025

1. The TONSE ALLIANCE is very saddened by the failure of the UPND Government to prevent theft of donated medicines, as well as failure to take responsibility for these continued thefts. As a result of the UPND Government’s continued incompetence and lack of appetite to fight corruption and theft of medicines, various donors, including the US Government are now suspending donations of medicines to our health sector, much to the detriment of ordinary Zambians.

2. As TONSE ALLIANCE, it is our strong belief that the main reason the UPND Government is failing to fight corruption and theft of medicines in the supply chain is because the majority of the people that have been appointed to senior positions in the entire medical supply chain, are either friends, relatives or children of friends and relatives to President Hakainde Hichilema or party cadres of the UPND party.

3. Due to these close relations which most of the offending culprits share with President Hakainde Hichilema or his UPND party, they feel untouchable and above the law. Therefore, as long as the current dispensation persists, whereby the majority of senior positions in the entire medical supply chain are occupied by either friends or relatives or children of friends and relatives to President Hakainde Hichilema or party cadres of the UPND party, the theft of medicines as well as general corruption shall persist.

4. As an illustration, the immediate past Director General of the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) is a well documented UPND cadre who recently stood as a Lusaka Mayoral candidate on the UPND ticket. Additionally, despite four senior staff members of ZAMMSA being reportedly arrested for alleged theft of medicines a few months ago, this matter has never commenced in court and is unlikely to commence, to the best of our knowledge.

5. The reason for adopting a casual approach to the fight against theft of medicines, by the UPND Government is simple. It is because President Hakainde Hichilema and his Government are unwilling to prosecute and send to prison his friends or relatives or children of his friends and relatives or party cadres of the UPND party. Meanwhile, the ordinary citizens are the ones who are suffering the effects of this selective fight against corruption and theft of medicines.

6. As TONSE ALLIANCE, we wish to take this opportunity to advise President Hakainde Hichilema to consider firing all his friends and relatives as well as children of his friends and relatives and cadres of his UPND party, and replace them with independent and professional Zambians, who will not have any entitlement mentality and will be afraid to engage in corruption or theft of medicines.

7. If President Hakainde Hichilema is either unwilling or unable to implement the proposed reforms above, not only at ZAMMSA and Ministry of Health, but across the entire civil service and parastatal firms, then enforcement of discipline to stop corruption and theft, will remain an impossibility. That is because it is impossible to enforce discipline among your friends or relatives or children of your friends or relatives or cadres of your political party.

8. However, the Zambian people will render a final verdict on 13th August 2026, on whether they want to continue to be led by a Government that is run for the benefit of one man, and his friends and relatives, as well as children of his friends and relatives and cadres of his political party, to the exclusion of ordinary citizens who have to endure the pain of having medicines stolen away from them. Medicines which were not bought by their Government, because their Government was busy compensating it’s cadres with millions of Kwacha in consent judgements, for spending a few days in cells. But medicines bought by a foreign Government and donated to the people. The only job which the UPND Government had to do was to deliver the donated medicines to the intended recipients. And they have failed to do that small task.

May the Zambian people render an appropriate judgement to President Hakainde Hichilema and his UPND party on 13th August 2026.

MUTALE NG’ANDU ELECTED FAZ VICE PRESIDENT

MUTALE NG’ANDU ELECTED FAZ VICE PRESIDENT

Mutale Ng’andu has been elected as the new Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Vice President following a runoff held during the reconvened elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kabwe on Saturday afternoon.

Ng’andu secured 52 votes, beating incumbent Justin Mumba, who polled 30 votes in the second round of voting.

The rerun was necessitated after none of the three initial candidates attained the required 50 percent plus one vote in the first round.

In the opening ballot, Mumba led with 41 votes, Ng’andu followed with 40, while Christopher Kasale managed one vote and was eliminated.

Ng’andu will now join newly elected FAZ President Keith Mweemba and Women’s National Representative Col. Priscilla Katoba, who went through unopposed, in steering the Association forward from 2025 to 2029.

The elections were conducted under the oversight of representatives from FIFA, CAF and COSAFA, including FIFA Senior Manager for Member Associations Governance Ahmed Harraz, ensuring a transparent and credible process.

British High Commission apologizes after Malema barred from UK conference

British High Commission apologizes after Malema barred from UK conference

The British High Commission in South Africa has issued a formal apology to Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema after a delayed visa process barred him from attending the Cambridge Africa Together Conference on 10 May 2025.

Malema, a prominent critic of Western imperialism and colonial legacies, was due to deliver a keynote address at the prestigious event hosted by the African Society of Cambridge University. The visa delay, communicated just hours before his scheduled departure from OR Tambo International Airport, sparked a wave of political controversy.

The EFF condemned the delay as a politically motivated act designed to silence Malema’s dissenting voice on the global stage, calling it an “administratively orchestrated ban.” In contrast, the British High Commission blamed the delay on recent UK public holidays, a justification the EFF dismissed as insufficient. A leaked letter from UK High Commissioner Antony Phillipson cited “unfortunate timing” as the reason the visa was not finalized in time.

AfriForum, a South African civil rights organization that has long clashed with Malema, welcomed the outcome. They linked the visa issue to their broader efforts to hold Malema accountable for what they characterize as inflammatory and racially divisive rhetoric. Public reactions have been sharply divided, with some social media users questioning the EFF’s narrative and speculating that a late visa application may have contributed to the mishap.

Despite the apology, tensions remain high. The incident has reignited debates around freedom of expression, academic engagement, and the treatment of African political leaders by Western institutions.

…as Luzendi questions why there are no prosecutions, resignations, or visible political will to tackle the issue

Lusaka… Friday May 9, 2025 —The United States government has suspended K1.4 billion in health sector funding to Zambia, citing persistent corruption concerns within the UPND administration.

The announcement was made publicly during a live press briefing yesterday by U.S. Ambassador to Zambia, Michael Gonzales, and has since sparked widespread public outcry and debate.

According to Ambassador Gonzales, the decision to withdraw the funds was not related to financial constraints or a change in foreign policy, but was instead a direct response to the Zambian government’s failure to address corruption allegations meaningfully over the past several years.

The U.S. embassy, he said, had made consistent efforts to collaborate with Zambian authorities on the matter, but those efforts yielded little progress.

In reaction to the suspension, Socialist Party member and activist Thompson Luzendi strongly criticized the UPND government, condemning it for betraying the public trust.

He stated that the ruling party, which campaigned on a platform of transparency and accountability, had instead demonstrated reluctance to confront graft within its ranks.

Mr. Luzendi contended that while public health institutions across the country continue to struggle with medicine shortages, staff deficits, and overstretched resources, the UPND leadership had failed to act against individuals implicated in corruption.

He further questioned why there had been no prosecutions, resignations, or visible political will to tackle the issue, despite repeated warnings from the international community and local oversight bodies such as the Auditor General and the Financial Intelligence Centre.

He accused the government of prioritizing public relations over governance, stating that many Zambians were disillusioned by the lack of accountability.

“This is no longer a political issue—it is a national crisis,” Mr. Luzendi said, emphasizing that the loss of the $50 million in funding could have provided critical support such as antiretroviral drugs, maternity ward infrastructure, and healthcare worker training.

He urged President Hakainde Hichilema to take decisive action by dismissing those implicated in corruption, initiating independent investigations, and restoring the Anti-Corruption Commission’s independence.

“This is about governance, morality, and justice,” Mr. Luzendi added. “If the UPND cannot fight corruption, it has no business leading a country in crisis. The people of Zambia deserve better.”

NEW DAWN GOVERNMENT UNDER HAKAINDE HICHILEMA HAS ACHIEVED A LOT – GRACE CHIVUBE

NEW DAWN GOVERNMENT UNDER HAKAINDE HICHILEMA HAS ACHIEVED A LOT – GRACE CHIVUBE

Lusaka – Grace Chivube, a Trustee of the United Party for National Development (UPND), has said that the New Dawn government led by President Hakainde Hichilema has done a lot to improve the lives of Zambians, and party officials must take time to inform citizens about these achievements.

Addressing party officials drawn from different wards, this morning during a party mobilisation meeting at Chawama Skills Center in Chawama Constituency.
Ms. Chivube emphasized the need for leaders at all levels to remain accountable and engaged with the people they serve.

She urged officials to clearly explain what the government has done to deliver development.

“It is our responsibility to speak to the people about what this government is doing,” she said.

Ms. Chivube also warned against the misuse of public projects and urged leaders to be honest when entrusted with developmental initiatives.

“When you are given projects, be transparent. These projects are for the people, not for personal gain,” she stated.

She further encouraged grassroots mobilisation and asked party officials to work in unity to strengthen the UPND in the constituency.

“We must work together and build this party from the ground up,” she added.

The meeting was part of ongoing efforts by the UPND to strengthen its structures ahead of future political engagements.

UPND’s CONSTITUTIONAL DRIVE SLAMMED AS BETRAYAL BY SP’s CHIBANGA

UPND’s CONSTITUTIONAL DRIVE SLAMMED AS BETRAYAL BY SP’s CHIBANGA

Lusaka… Friday May 9, 2025 — Socialist Party (SP) Member of the Central Committee, Joseph Chibanga, has strongly criticized the UPND for its continued push to amend the Republican Constitution, despite what he described as widespread opposition from the majority of Zambians.

Speaking during an address to the Socialist Party leadership in Munali Constituency, Chibanga condemned the ruling party for betraying the trust placed in them by the Zambian people during the 2021 general elections.

He stated that the constitution forms the bedrock of the nation’s democracy, and warned that making changes without broad consensus risked undermining the very fabric of Zambian society.

He argued that the UPND appeared to believe the constitution was theirs alone to alter, rather than treating it as a sacred document that belongs to the people of Zambia.

Mr Chibanga said the party’s insistence on pushing through the amendments demonstrated a blatant disregard for public opinion.

According to Chibanga, pressing ahead with unpopular constitutional changes suggested that the UPND believed they knew better than the citizens they were elected to serve — a stance he labeled as both unacceptable and undemocratic.

He further stated that the absence of national consensus on the proposed amendments was deeply concerning.

In his view, any effort to change the constitution required thorough consultations and widespread support, particularly when a significant portion of the population was opposed.

Mr Chibanga questioned the UPND’s commitment to democratic principles, suggesting that ignoring public sentiment could lead to increased polarization and social unrest.

He warned that bypassing public engagement eroded trust in national institutions and weakened the democratic process.

“The UPND’s actions,” Chibanga stated, “could have far-reaching consequences for the country. Leaders must prioritize the will of the people and strive to build an inclusive and participatory democracy.”

He concluded by affirming that the Socialist Party would continue to stand with the majority of Zambians who opposed the amendments.

He urged the UPND to respect the wishes of the people, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic values and building a more just and equitable society.

FASTON MWALE URGES MUNALI GRASSROOTS TO JOIN CONSTITUTION PROTESTS

FASTON MWALE URGES MUNALI GRASSROOTS TO JOIN CONSTITUTION PROTESTS

Lusaka… Friday May 9, 2025 – Socialist Party (SP) Deputy General Secretary for Politics, Faston Mwale, has commended the Munali constituency leadership for their relentless efforts in advancing the party’s values and strengthening grassroots mobilization.

Speaking during an interactive meeting with the Munali Constituency and ward leadership held yesterday, Mr. Mwale urged party members to take an active role in the ongoing protests against proposed constitutional amendments.

He specifically encouraged participation in the Friday “honking” protests, describing them as a vital form of civic expression.

He called on the Munali leadership to collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure that diverse voices are amplified and included in the national dialogue.

According to Mr. Mwale, working together would enhance the community’s influence and increase the impact of their message.

Mr. Mwale emphasized the importance of community engagement, saying the party’s strength lay in its ability to mobilize and listen to the people.

He encouraged leaders to organize ward meetings and facilitate grassroots discussions on the proposed changes, adding that these engagements would help shape the party’s official stance.

He described the UPND’s proposed constitutional amendments as a pivotal issue in Zambia’s history, stressing that the Socialist Party must act to prevent attempts to selfishly alter the country’s most sacred document.

Mr. Mwale stated that the constitution must reflect the will and needs of the people, not the interests of the ruling party.

Calling for unity, Mr. Mwale urged party members to stand together in promoting Socialist Party values and ensuring their communities’ voices are heard.

He expressed confidence that collective action could drive meaningful change and secure a better future for Zambia.

Several other senior party figures attended the meeting, including Members of the Central Committee Horace Longwe, Kapasa Makasa Kalulu, Fletcher Kalobwe, Joseph Chibanga, Marian Mwango, Boston Chifita, and Nancy Busiku from the National Youth League.

PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY OF ZAMBIA URGES U.S TO RECONSIDER ZAMBIA AID CUT

PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY OF ZAMBIA URGES U.S TO RECONSIDER ZAMBIA AID CUT

THE Pharmaceutical Society of Zambia is urging the United States government to reconsider its decision to cut $50 million in annual aid to Zambia, as the reduction, which targets the supply of medicines and medical commodities could lead to increased mortality rates across the country.

The aid cut follows concerns raised by the U.S. government regarding the widespread theft of donor-funded medical supplies and the Zambian government’s failure to implement decisive corrective measures.

In an interview with Phoenix News, PSZ President Keagan Mwape has emphasized that the withdrawal of support will severely impact Zambia’s already strained healthcare system.

He has since called on government to urgently engage with U.S. authorities and work towards restoring trust and continued cooperation.

And Association of Citizen Owned Pharmaceutical chairman Gallen Sichilima has stressed the need for government to step in and prioritize the financing of essential medicines particularly those for malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV to prevent shortages.

Meanwhile, Treatment Advocacy and Literacy Campaign acting national director Clever Chilende says the aid cut threatens to undo the progress Zambia has made in healthcare delivery, especially efforts aimed at achieving universal health coverage.

But Health Minister Elijah Muchima has reaffirmed government’s commitment to addressing the systematic theft of medicines, which has led to the cutting of $50 million in aid to the health sector by the United States government.

My Company Gibson Power System, is worth over $5.9million and cannot fail to buy a helicopter-Malanji

My Company Gibson Power System, is worth over $5.9million and cannot fail to buy a helicopter-Malanji

…Why charge me for actions of the comoany?…

Malanji concludes testimony, refuses owning helicopters

FORMER Foreign Affairs Minister, Joseph Malanji has maintained his stance, denying accusations of him owning two helicopters, a Bell 403 and a Bell 206 claiming the two aircrafts belong to Gibson Air Power Systems, a company where he is a director and shareholder.

He said he cannot be charged with possession of the aircraft when he did not purchase them.

Malanji in concluding his testimony told Senior Resident Magistrate, Irene Wishimanga sitting under the Economic and Financial Crime’s Court that Gibson power systems had a financial capacity of US$5.9 million and cannot fail to purchase a Helicopter.

“It is a pity, it’s not the company brought to court,” he said.

Malanji further denied allegations that the aircraft were taken away from Zambia to South Africa and Zimbabwe, in order to be hidden.

He said they were taken away for charter services, and because the two countries had a bigger market and have experienced air charter companies.

Malanji said he has proof that the purchase of the two aircraft was done by Gibson power systems and a contract with the vendors was signed on November 5, 2020.

Malanji also explains how he purchased his three houses which are allegedly said to have been acquired through proceeds of crime.

He said he purchased the houses in 2021 from the income he generated from his emoluments.

Malanji said altogether he owns seven houses in Silverest area, the three are in court and the four are not.

He lamented that the four which are not in court were also recently seized by Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and the tenants have since been paying rentals to DEC.

“It is surprising that one can accuse me that I cannot manage to purchase those houses, I was Minister of Foreign Affairs and I was airborne, every time I was out and when I came back that’s the only time I would attend to my businesses and I was making payments to ZDA towards the houses,” he said.

Malanji’s testimony comes in a case where he is Jointly charged with former Secretary to the Treasury, Fredson Yamba.

The former minister is charged with eight counts of being in possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime while Yamba is facing two counts of willful failure to comply with laid down procedures.

In other counts which are in respect of Malanji, he allegedly possessed a Bell 430 Helicopter, a Bell 206 JET Ranger Helicopter, Gibson Royal Hotel and other properties suspected of being proceeds of crime.

It is also alleged that Malanji possessed US$110,000 and US$105,000 property suspected of being proceeds of crime.

The court adjourned the matter to May 12, 2025 for the State to cross examine Malanji.

If failure was a political  party, it is the UPND- Dr Canisius BANDA

Press Statement

THINGS FALL APART
____________

The shit has now hit the fan. No one is laughing now. Now people are very mad with anger.

Ba gwila ku mankhwala. Ba gwila kosagwila. Be gwila ku moyo. Some women at a market were heard lamenting today.

Things have now gone beyond tolerable limits. The wheels have come off the leadership and governance wagon. Everyone is now both concerned and enraged.

The shocking revelations of theft of life-saving medicines, including ARVs, donated by the US government are a stark reminder of the UPND administration’s catastrophic failure to prioritize the health and welfare of Zambians.

Using objective parameters, we have said it before. And we will say it again. Based on its own yardstick, the UPND government has failed.

If failure was a political  party, it is the UPND.

Zambia’s Republican President Hakainde Hichilema had promised that, in five years’ time, Zambia would be better. It isn’t.

In fact, Zambians are worse off now. According to ZAMSTATS, a government department, their poverty has increased.

Just how many times are we going to say it? Just what language should we use now, how should we say it for this fact to be understood? We thank God now diplomats, inspired by their own national interest, are speaking on behalf of citizens.

For how long should Zambians continue to suffer? Is it normal or acceptable that economic recovery should only be seen by economists? Where in the world is economic wellbeing not lived or felt by citizens? Why should citizens, instead of relying on their pockets and the belly, need a professorial lecture to know that Zambia is doing well?

As Professor P. L. O. Lumumba cautions, as a leader, if you have to explain what you have done then it means that you have done nothing.

To the UPND’s failure, now add theft and corruption.

Trouble has come. Now the shame is here. Every citizen is now in panic.

President Hakainde Hichilema, the leader of the culprit and responsible officers, remains captured, stuck and functionally paralysed, like a deer in the headlights.

If it is not President Hakainde Hichilema who has stolen the medicines, who is corrupt, and who has failed, then who is it? The buck, you see, stops with him.

You see, everything rises and falls on leadership.

We demand that the government takes immediate and concrete actions to investigate, prosecute, and bring to justice those responsible for this heinous crime.

The United States of America, supposedly an ally of Mr Hakainde Hichilema’s, is now calling him out, saying he has stolen the drugs, saying he is corrupt and that he has failed. And as a consequence, Donald Trump and the American people have made their decision. They are now imposing severe, life-threatening sanctions on innocent Zambians.

Just as we have repeatedly said that this government has failed, the US is now saying the same thing.

Perhaps their voice, carrying with it a barbed whip, will cause the required leadership-shifting quake in the country.

There is no hiding it. There is no spinning it.

The failure of the UPND is now in the open for all to see. The failure of the UPND has now gone global, and because of this unmitigated governance fiasco, Zambia, its image soiled, is now under sanctions.

As if Zambians had not suffered enough, their suffering is now about to get even worse, and for many of them, their premature one-way journey to the cemetery, to an early grave is now being quickened, it is now on the fast track.

Listen to these strong and biting words from the US: “We cannot continue to underwrite the personal enrichment of fraudsters while patients go without life-saving medicines we provide for free, and the Zambian government fails to enforce accountability or introduce necessary reforms.”

Things have indeed fallen apart. When your friends start to wash your dirty and stinking linen in public, just know that, indeed your days are numbered. Friends do not embarrass you this way.

For the sins of a few in the UPND,  now the whole country is being made to pay.

Quoting Mwebantu, ‘the United States government has announced that it has cut K1.4 billion approximately $50 million in annual funding for malaria, HIV, and TB medications due to government’s failure to address widespread theft of donated medical supplies.’

Disease, you see, is not partisan. Citizens who need and take ARVs, TB and malaria drugs are in their millions. They are found at State House, within the Ministry of Health, all ministries, in churches, the Zambia Police Service, and in all political parties. And a caring government looks after all its people. It does not defraud them as the UPND is patently guilty of, and doing.

Disease comes to all. It follows then that there must be healthcare for all.

And now because of its failure to govern properly, failure to ensure accountability, and because of its deception and ineptitude, the UPND is now playing Russian roulette with the lives of Zambians. As the saying goes, the UPND government is now aiding and abetting the ill health and death of citizens.

Just listen to this shocking exposè: “Between 2021 and 2023, buyers visited over 2,000 pharmacies across Zambia. Shockingly, 95 percent of those selling products the US provides were also selling stolen goods,” US Ambassador to Zambia, Michael Gonzales revealed.

‘Speaking at a media briefing, US Ambassador to Zambia Michael Gonzales said that since 2021, the US uncovered systemic theft of life-saving medicines including antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) intended for free distribution to the public.

He said following the discovery of widespread theft in late 2021, the US Embassy informed the Zambian government and initiated an on-the-ground assessment of private pharmacies nationwide.

He added that 45 percent of those pharmacies were selling medicines donated by the United States.’

Michael Gonzalez, livid with anger, goes on: “Across all ten provinces, nearly half of the pharmacies selling US-donated medicines and supplies were dealing in stolen stock. The remainder were selling medicines stolen from supplies purchased by the Zambian government, the Global Fund, and other donor partners.”

‘Ambassador Gonzales said that on April 3, 2024, he presented the alarming findings to senior government officials, including representatives from multiple ministries, law enforcement, and the Executive branch.’

See,? He presented to the Executive branch of the Government of the Republic of Zambia, to President Hakainde Hichilema himself.

“I asked them to act in two areas – stop further theft and hold high-level perpetrators accountable,” he said.

Note here Ambassador Gonzalez’s reference to and emphasis on ‘high-level’ thieves.

‘Ambassador Gonzales said despite more than 33 high-level meetings over 12 months including with Permanent Secretaries and senior US officials, the Zambian government has failed to take sufficient action.

He said the US even offered technical support in supply-chain management and law enforcement, but results have been disappointing.’

This then is the gory tale of those that promised to fix Zambia, to make it better. Those that said they knew better and how.

This then is the sad ending to a party that once held so much promise, a party I once helped.

This is exactly what happens when, instead of leaders, you have dealers in government.

It is not just the US government which is disappointed with the UPND government. Every sober citizen in all the ten provinces of Zambia, save only for demented sycophants and zealots, is even more disappointed., is seething with anger.

The failure of the UPND has not only grossly disappointed citizens, it has also shocked, embarrassed and angered them. More so for me who was one of the chief architects for its ascendancy to State power. I am not only shocked but now shame has become me.

Talking of some people being more equal than others, of sparing sacred cows, Ambassador Gonzalez further complains: “Instead of targeting masterminds behind the theft, enforcement efforts focused on low-level actors, resulting in only a few arrests of mid-level officials.”

The Ambassador clearly knows who should fall on the sword but isn’t. A school of big fish is still Scot-free,
profiting off US aid

‘Ambassador Gonzales further added that now more than six months into a forensic audit of the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA), no public report has been released, nor has any been shared with the US.’

“Since October, I have made it clear to senior government officials that I am obligated to safeguard American taxpayers’ resources in light of gross theft and mismanagement,” he said.

Haven’t Zambians said it many times before that the UPND government is mega-corrupt? Now look who is talking. Is the US ambassador motivated by sour grapes, bitterness or jealousy?

‘He further said that while the US remains committed to Zambia’s development, it will no longer fund systems that enable corruption.’

But then, as if having diseased and addled minds, the UPND, defending themselves, will again annoyingly remind us that failure is global, and that corruption isn’t new or limited to Zambia, that it was there before 2021 and that you will also find it in other countries, where it is even worse. As if possessed, they might even say that ECL is behind all this.

If this is not a valid reason for regime change, then tell me fellow Zambians, what is?

Divest yourselves of cronyism or ethnic bias, use an objective lens, why should a ruling party that endangers the lives of citizens, through its acts of both omission and commission, be retained?

Furthermore, whilst it is still in office, in the few months left we call on the government to provide a comprehensive plan to mitigate the impact of the US funding cut and ensure that Zambians continue to access essential healthcare services.

The people of Zambia deserve better than a government that allows corruption and mismanagement to rob them of their right to health.

In the final analysis, in light of this gross theft and mismanagement by a ruling party, Zambians are also obligated to safeguard their country. And as the Patriotic Front with its Tonse Alliance, we state that the hour to remove the UPND from power has now come. We must change again.

This then is how the cookie crumbles.

Twacula pafula!
Aluta continua! Indeed, the struggle must continue!

Saki is ‘blackmailing me’ with K30,000 legal fees – Saboi

By Staff Reporter

NDC leader Saboi Imboela says the moment she asked United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) chairperson Sakwiba Sikota to step down from his position for running down the alliance, he wrote a letter accusing her of owing him K30, 000 legal fees for the “free” legal representation he offered her last year.

And Imboela said Sikota wants to be UKA’s flag bearer instead of just retiring from active politics as he has no energy.

On Thursday, Sikota expelled Imboela from the UKA.

In a letter dated May 7, 2025, Sikota stated that further to a letter of May 1, 2025 in which Imboela was asked to exculpate herself or face expulsion, five days had expired without her exculpating herself.

“This letter serves to formally expel you from the United Kwacha Alliance. We wish you the best in your future endavours,” the letter read in part.

However, Imboela rejected the expulsion on the grounds that Sikota had no powers to expel her.

In an interview on Thursday, Imboela accused Sikota

Theft of medicines began long before the UPND administration took office in August 2021- Health Elijah Muchima

MINISTER of Health Elijah Muchima says the theft of medicines reflects a deep-rooted problem that began long before the United Party for National Development (UPND) administration took office in August 2021.

Yesterday, the United States government announced that it had cut K1.4 billion (approximately $50 million) in annual funding for malaria, HIV, and TB medications due to the government’s failure to address the widespread theft of donated medical supplies.

US Ambassador to Zambia Michael Gonzales stated that since 2021, the US has uncovered systemic theft of life-saving medicines, including antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) intended for free distribution to the public.

However, in a national address, Dr Muchima said the persistent challenge reflects a deep-rooted problem that took hold long before the current administration assumed office in August 2021, stemming from systemic weaknesses in oversight and supply chain management under previous governments.

“To address this, the Government of Zambia has implemented robust remedial measures to protect medicines, ensuring they reach the patients who need them most. You may wish to note that the President of Zambia, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, commissioned a comprehensive independent forensic audit of the entire medicines supply chain immediately after the concerns were raised,” he said.

The Minister said the audit was commissioned by the Auditor General’s Office and conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers, with its interim report shared with stakeholders, including cooperating partners, at State House at the invitation of the President.

He said following the preliminary report, the Government of Zambia took action by suspending several ZAMMSA officials from their positions.

“You may wish to note that, other than the Director of Finance, these officials are appearing before the courts of law,” Dr. Muchima said.

He added that the final report has been completed and cleared by the Office of the Auditor General for further action.

Dr Muchima said there will be no sacred cows in this process, adding that all suspects will go through the full legal process, with the presumption of innocence until proven guilty by competent courts of law.

He urged the US Ambassador to Zambia to share any additional information that may be useful for further action or prosecution.

Dr Muchima further stated that the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has intensified its operations, leading to the arrest and prosecution of additional individuals involved in the theft of medicines.

“In its quest to improve visibility of the supply chain system, ZAMMSA has implemented an advanced digital stock tracking system. This system enables real-time monitoring of medical inventories, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reducing diversion and/or theft of medicines,” he said.

He added that to ensure long-term sustainability, the Ministry of Health, ZAMMSA, and key stakeholders are set to convene next week in the Copperbelt for an annual planning exercise to assess Zambia’s medical needs for 2026.

Dr Muchima said the strategic session will focus on optimizing resource allocation, strengthening supply chain security, and guaranteeing the availability of essential medicines for all Zambians.

The Minister also assured the public that Zambia currently maintains sufficient stocks of essential medicines, including antiretroviral, antimalarial, and other critical drugs, with no immediate risk of shortages.

“Under this government, national essential drug availability has increased from averages under 35% to well over 75% countrywide for primary care,” he said.

Dr Muchima added that government is engaged in constructive dialogue with the U.S. Government to address their concerns, implement robust solutions, and maintain the strong partnership that underpins Zambia’s healthcare progress.

He said the government remains committed to transparency, accountability, and justice in delivering quality healthcare to every Zambian.

Saboi Imboela Expels ‘Grandpa’ Saki, Appoints New Sheriff in Town as UKA goes full circus

Saboi Expels ‘Grandpa’ Saki, Appoints New Sheriff in Town as UKA goes full circus

The United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) has officially stopped being a political movement and transformed into Zambia’s newest comedy series complete with surprise exits, dramatic speeches, and plot twists that would make Mpali jealous.

In the latest episode titled “Revenge of the Expelled,” Saboi Imboela the recently expelled leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) held a press conference not to defend herself, but to flip the table. Instead of sulking, she decided to fight fire with fireworks, announcing the expulsion of coalition chairperson and legal veteran Sakwiba “Grandpa Saki” Sikota.

“Not only have I expelled Grandpa Saki,” she said, straight-faced, “I’ve also retired him in national interest.” Because nothing says ‘new political energy’ like personally announcing someone’s pension package at a press conference.

But the real drama came when Saboi addressed Mr. Sikota’s presidential ambitions and let’s just say, she wasn’t holding back her sarcasm.

“The problem we have is everyone wants to be president,” she scoffed, “even those with four members in their party. How do you want to run a country when you can’t even fill a Honda fit?”

She has since appointed Robert Chansa, leader of the “Revamped for Development Change” party a political group so quiet, some Zambians thought it was a book club, as the new Chairperson of UKA. Because, clearly, the solution to UKA’s instability is more plot characters.

Zambians on social media are already calling for a popcorn tax as this drama continues to unfold. Others have asked if UKA should just apply for a time slot on ZNBC and “do things properly.”

ARVs not being paid for by other tax payers outside Africa is a wake up call to Zambia and Africa- HH

ARVs not being paid for is a wake up call, we needed the slap – Hichilema

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says ARVs not being paid for by other tax payers outside Africa is a wake up call to Zambia and Africa at large.

President Hichilema stated that the continent needed to be slapped not on one cheek but on both.

He said the shrinked developmental assistance from outside the continent shows that Africa had been doing things wrongly for many years, waiting for others to do things for it.

“Yes we can complain about ARVs not being paid for by other tax payers outside Africa. Yes we can complain about development assistance shrinking. I actually think that this is a wake up call to Africa that we have been doing things wrongly for too many years, waiting for someone to do things for us, we must do those things ourselves.”

“Let’s flip our coin, there’s an opportunity in that. It’s an opportunity, a great one for that matter,” stated the President as he officiated at the Inaugural African Continental Free Trade Area Digital Forum in Lusaka, today.

He said Africa must pay attention to the opportunity which tax payers from outside the continent have presented to it.

“We must pay attention to the opportunity. Why are we confident that African countries trade the least with it-selves? Why are we buying wheat from continents outside of Africa when Africa has land to use one hectare to produce? Why is it like that Zambians like saying we don’t like GMOs when at breakfast they eat cornflakes which are GMOs?”

“Africa needed not one slap but two slaps on both cheeks. There’s a lot we can do. Nigeria, South Africa and Ethiopia are doing a lot,” he explained.

This morning, the US announced that they would slash K1.4 billion in aid to Zambia’s health sector due to government’s failure to stop the theft of critical medicines such as ARVs, malaria and TB drugs.

United States to Cut $50 Million in Medications & Medical Supplies Support
Following Inadequate Response to Systematic Theft

Good morning everyone and thank you for joining me here today.

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that the United States is cutting $50 million – that’s 1.4 billion kwacha – in annual aid provided to Zambia for medications and medical supplies. For more than a year the United States has requested tangible action by the Government of Zambia to respond to the country-wide, systematic theft of these products. In the face of minimal responsive action by the government, the United States is taking necessary steps to safeguard, and ensure the accountability of, American taxpayer funds.

For more than 60 years, the United States and Zambia have shared a strong friendship. Because of our commitment to Zambia and the Zambian people, in recent years the United States has invested roughly $600 million a year – that’s nearly 17 billion Zambian kwacha annually – toward our shared goals of economic development and improved health and wellbeing. Roughly one in every three kwacha spent on public health in Zambia comes as assistance from the American people. As part of this, in recent years the United States has provided approximately $128 million annually – nearly 3.5 billion kwacha – to buy medications to treat HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis, as well as to provide technical and operational support for Zambia’s national health supply chain. These medications and supplies are intended to be provided for free to Zambian patients in need.

Today, millions of Zambians are living longer, healthier lives because of this assistance – which comes in the form of grants, not loans – provided by American taxpayers. We are incredibly proud to have partnered with Zambia to reverse the AIDS epidemic and reach epidemic control. Due to joint efforts by the United States and Zambia, 98 percent of Zambians living with HIV now know their status, 99 percent of Zambians who know they are HIV positive are now on treatment, and 98 percent of HIV positive Zambians on treatment are now virally suppressed – meaning they cannot transmit the virus. Beyond our support related to HIV, over the past ten years our joint efforts have helped reduce deaths from malaria and tuberculosis by more than 75 percent.

Our investments in Zambia are intended to benefit the Zambian people. U.S.-donated medical supplies and medicines – which include antiretrovirals, also known as ARVs; TB and anti-malarial drugs; and others – are made available to Zambians for free. Today, one in every nine Zambians is living with HIV. The majority of those 1.3 million Zambians is virally suppressed because of ARVs provided by the United States and intended for free distribution. However, I am disappointed to share publicly today that since 2021, we have uncovered systemic theft of life-saving medicines and other products that were intended for free for the Zambian public, including ARVs.

As soon as we discovered this country-wide theft in late-2021, we immediately informed the Zambian government of our findings and initiated an on-the-ground assessment of private pharmacies across Zambia to understand the extent of the issue. From 2021 to 2023, our buyers visited more than 2,000 pharmacies throughout Zambia that sell the same types of products that the United States provides for free to Zambia’s healthcare system. Shockingly, across these visits, 95 percent of the pharmacies that were selling the kinds of products that the United States provides were also selling stolen goods. Of those pharmacies selling stolen goods, 45 percent were selling stolen products that the United States had provided to Zambia for free to Zambians in need. Let me repeat that: in all ten provinces, nearly half of the pharmacies that were selling the kinds of products the United States provides for free for the Zambian people were selling stolen medications and medical supplies donated by the U.S. government. The rest of the pharmacies selling stolen products were selling stolen medications and supplies from stocks purchased by the Zambian government, the Global Fund, and Zambia’s other donor partners.

On April 3 of last year, 2024, I brought this alarming information to the attention of senior Zambian government leaders. In attendance at the meeting were high level officials from multiple ministries, law enforcement agencies, and the executive. I asked them to take meaningful action on two fronts: first, mitigate further theft and, second, enforce high-level accountability for those involved in stealing life-saving medicines from the Zambian people. Over the next 12 months through more than 33 meetings with Permanent Secretary-level officials or higher across the Zambian government, U.S. Embassy staff, senior U.S. officials from Washington, and I reiterated our request for action to stop further theft and to bring the culprits to justice. We even offered U.S. government experts in supply chain management and law enforcement to partner with Zambian counterparts to support the requested efforts.

I regret that to date, the government’s actions have fallen drastically short of demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding U.S. assistance and the lives we aim to save. Instead of investigating supply sources and pursuing the masterminds behind the theft of medicines, law enforcement operations have focused on low-level actors and have led to the arrest of only a few mid-level officials. And more than six months into a forensic audit of the Zambian Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency’s (ZAMMSA) mismanagement, there is still no public report, nor has a report been shared with the United States. Since October, I have alerted senior government officials of my obligation to safeguard American taxpayers’ resources in the face of gross theft and mismanagement. I have stressed repeatedly that the accountable safeguarding of American taxpayer funds will require the United States to significantly reduce our contribution of medicines and medical supplies if meaningful action was not taken to hold high-level culprits responsible and stop the theft.

After more than a year of little tangible action by Zambian authorities to address this systematic theft of U.S.-provided health support, the United States can no longer justify to the American taxpayer continuing to provide such massive levels of assistance when the Zambian government will not take the necessary measures to protect this American investment.

As a result, and with a very heavy heart, the U.S. government has made the difficult decision to cut $50 million of our annual support for critically needed medications and medical supplies in Zambia. Again, that is 1.4 billion kwacha of assistance being reduced. The exact parameters of the reduction are not yet finalized, and my Embassy team and I remain available to the government to discuss the matter. This is not a decision we have taken lightly. I have recommended to Washington that we continue to procure and deliver these lifesaving medicines and medical supplies to Zambia until January 2026 to provide time for the government to develop a transition plan, budget, and initiate procurements to avoid stock-outs of these medications. After that point, we will offer technical and logistics assistance to support humanitarian activities and prevent drug resistance and disease transmission, but we will cut $50 million of our annual contribution to providing malaria, HIV, and TB medicines.

As you may know, the Trump Administration is in the process of finalizing a broader review of our foreign assistance funding around the world, including here in Zambia. That review is still underway. But I want to stress that this $50 million cut in our medicines and medical supplies budget is wholly separate from that process. This reduction is exclusively because of the lack of action by the Zambian government to respond to the country-wide, systematic theft of American-donated medications and medical supplies.

Moving forward, we remain committed to supporting Zambia and the Zambian people to realize the massive potential that this great country possesses. Zambia’s prosperous economic future – and a healthy population that can drive that future – is in the shared interest of both Americans and Zambians. The United States remains interested in contributing to that future. But, we are no longer willing to underwrite the personal enrichment of fraudsters or the corrupt when patients go without or have to buy life-saving medications that we have provided for free, and the Zambian government does not take action to enforce meaningful accountability or introduce systemic reforms to ensure the resources that belong to the people actually reach them.

Thank you. I welcome your questions.

…on hon. Robert Chabinga unsavoury diplomacy

By Amb. Anthony Mukwita

In a surprise move, President HH showed that he can stand up for greater good than self when last week, he threw under the bus, the estranged Mafinga Legislator Robert Chabinga.

You see Mr Chabinga is a strange kettle of fish if you ask moi, he identifies as an opposition MP but actually in reality and publicly he has professed that he supports the ruling party.

Party affiliations are ok in my view but then there’s rules to the whole game whose play-book perhaps Mr Chabinga has not read well.

Anyhow, he’s party affiliations—whether he is PF or UPND—are his prerogative as we leave this matter to be adjudicated upon by the competent courts of laws.

My beef is the fact that Mr Chabinga had the guts to cast aside diplomatic decorum recently and blow the whistle on diplomats based in Zambia, accusing them of ‘undermining the sovereignty’ of Zambia.

As a person that has served this wonderful country at the highest level in diplomacy and studied the craft in Uni, I found the statements by Mr Chabinga, whom I vaguely know, to be not only outlandish, ‘pedestrianish’ but also dangerous.

I cannot find a diplomatic way to frame this.
You cannot just wake up and start accusing diplomats that enjoy immunity in your country of ‘treason’ because that’s what ‘undermining sovereignty’ of a country means to me.

Perhaps Mr Chabinga missed ‘Diplomacy Class 1.0’, if at all they have that in their ‘how to become a legislator’ class before they let them make laws and utter public statements.

There’s a simple thing called the Vienna Convention signed in 1961 in the cultural rich city of Vienna in Austria, effected in 64 which Mr Chabinga can acquaint himself before he continues digging a political grave for himself.

Hence the reason I am commending Don HH for quickly cracking the whip and distancing Zambia from the blatant and wanton ignorance of Mr Chabinga regarding all matters ‘ diplomatic and privileges’ enjoyed by our friends in the ‘mission’ called Lusaka, Zambia.

The Don H showed that when it matters, he can crack the whip even if the person involved is a close business or political bed-fellow that is what leadership requires Mr President.

Throwing Chabinga under the bus does one of two things, it assures the diplomats in Zambia that they are safe and protected under his leadership, yet it also sends a signal to his ‘Kitchen Cabinet’ that ‘I HH shall not hesitate to feed you to the lions if you step out of line.

It puts a check and spotlight on overzealous, or negatively capricious behaviour that has been exhibited by some of his men and women lately.

It’s time for the stick not the carrot, people must stick to their lanes, there must be laws even in the jungle of politics.

I know the public ‘crucifixion’ of Mr. Chabinga was announced by Justice Minister Mulambo Haimbe but it definitely had the final signature of the Don all over it, as it should be with many other things that go awry in our country today.

FROM CHABINGA BACK TO CHINA

I was one of the commentators that relentlessly wrote that the Don H (Hichilema) should have made his first major foreign trip regarding debt restructuring to Beijing and not London and DC or Paris after becoming President in 2021.

My humble thought that time, and still is now, is that if you owe one single bilateral partner a third of your entire foreign debt stock, that time about $15 billion, you meet them first then later London et’ Palais Elyse.

You do not just go around poking the Bear!

I was proven right yet again as the debt wheels only started rolling after the Don H visited Beijing; it don’t take no rocket science to figure this one out and when that worked, I commended la Presidente as I am doing now regarding Chabinga because of my love for diplomacy and order.

The major question now, is, ‘has the love between Mr Chabinga and the Don H faded into ether?’ is the honey-moon finally over before the next polls even bat an eye-lid?

Where to now for Mr Chabinga as he seeks re-election in the crucial polls some are calling make or break next August?   Is he gonna get accepted back by his ilk after so much has gone down or this is how the bow breaks?

FROM CHABINGA TO THE POPE

By the time you read these lines, we might have a new Pope or not at the Holy Sea after Pope Francis crossed over to the next world leaving a deep unfilled void in the hearts of 1.4 billion Catholics on earth.

A new Pope will not calm the hearts of the hurting flock but it will at least bring closure to the largest faith on the globe whose population almost equals that of China.

But before the mourning even ends, POTUS Don Trump pulled of one of his many stunts when he feels the media spot light has left him a bit—Trump had his media team viral share an AI image of himself as a ‘pope’ to the chagrin of many Catholics that cannot see the joke up to now.

But you just never know what to expect next from ‘pope Trump’ nowadays. Perhaps it was fake new or just trying to divert attention from ‘blinking first’ after a stand-off on trade with China!

Nobody wins when everyone is losing.

Government Action to Combat Medical Drug Theft and Strengthen Zambia’s Healthcare Supply Chain

Government Action to Combat Medical Drug Theft and Strengthen Zambia’s Healthcare Supply Chain

The Zambian Government acknowledges the concerns raised by the Ambassador of the United States of America to Zambia regarding recurrent thefts of medicines. The Zambian Government wishes to reaffirm its commitment to resolving this unfortunate issue. We express our profound gratitude to the American Government and people for their generous support, which has significantly strengthened Zambia’s healthcare services, particularly in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and other public health challenges.

The theft of medicines jeopardizes public health, depriving patients of essential treatments, and undermining confidence in Zambia’s healthcare system. This persistent challenge, reflects a deep-rooted problem that took hold long before the current administration assumed office in August 2021, stemming from systemic weaknesses in oversight and supply chain management, under previous governments.

To address this, the Government of Zambia has implemented robust remedial measures to protect medicines, ensuring that they reach the patients who need them most. You may wish to note that the President of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema commissioned a comprehensive independent forensic audit of the entire medicines supply chain immediately the concerns were raised. This audit was commissioned by the Auditor General’s Office and conducted by Pricewater House Coopers. The interim report was shared with stakeholders, including co-operating partners, at State House at the invitation of the President.

Following the preliminary report, the Government of Zambia took the following actions;

a) A number of ZAMMSA officials were suspended and/or removed from their positions, including the Director General, Mr. Victor Nyasulu, the Director Supply Planning, Ms. Nalishebo Siyandi, the Director Procurement, Mr. Nchimunya Habadu, and the Director of Finance, Mr. Milimo Ngululu. You may wish note that other than the Director of Finance these officials are appearing before the courts of law.
The final report has been completed and cleared by the Office of the Auditor General for further action. Note that there will be no sacred cows in this process. However, all the suspects will go through the entire legal process, with the presumption of being innocent until proven guilty by our competent courts of law. The Government of the Republic of Zambia urges the Ambassador of the United States of America to Zambia to share any additional information that may be useful for action and/or prosecution.

Further, the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has intensified its operations, leading to the arrest and prosecution of additional individuals involved in the thefts of medicines.

To enhance oversight, the Government has established a Joint National Drug Taskforce to conduct real-time monitoring, early detection, and prevention of theft across the supply chain.

In its quest to improve visibility of the supply chain system, ZAMMSA has implemented an advanced digital stock tracking system. This system enables real-time monitoring of medical inventories, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reducing diversions and/or theft of medicines.

To ensure long-term sustainability, the Ministry of Health, ZAMMSA, and key stakeholders are set to convene next week in the Copperbelt for an annual planning exercise to assess Zambia’s medical needs for 2026. This strategic session will focus on optimizing resource allocation, strengthening supply chain security, and guaranteeing the availability of essential medicines for all Zambians.

We want to assure the public that Zambia currently maintains sufficient stocks of essential medicines, including antiretroviral, antimalarial, and other critical drugs, with no immediate risk of shortages. Under this government national essential drug availability has increased from averages under 35% to well over 75% country-wide for primary care.

The government is engaged in constructive dialogue with the U.S. Government to address their concerns, implement robust solutions, and maintain the strong partnership that underpins our healthcare progress. The government is committed to transparency, accountability, and justice in delivering quality healthcare to every Zambian. By working together, we can protect our healthcare system and ensure that medicines reach those in need.

The Government under President Hakainde Hichilema has assured that there is transparency and accountability as can be seen by removal of Senior Management of ZAMMSA was suspended and the Board dissolved. This fight was without victimizing anybody and rushing arrests.

MUKUKA APPEALS TO HH, FORM NEW TASK FORCE TO CUT GOVERNMENT SPENDING BY HALF FOR US TO SURVIVE

MUKUKA Kampamba popular as Tiza Mukuka a Zambian youth advocate has called on President Hichilema to respond with a powerful solution following US announcement to cut funding to Zambia’s health sector.

US ambassador Michael Gonzales announced today that the US has cut $50m (£37m) in aid to Zambia’s health sector.

I appeal to President Hichilema to establish a new task force tasked with cutting all government spending by half and redirecting those funds to the Ministry of Health. Says Mukuka.

“Forget about those responsible for the alleged theft, tangible solutions are what is needed.

The Government Spending Waste Reduction (GSWR) Task Force will effectively fill the space left by the American actions.

First being CDF budget to reduce it by half and redirect funds to health.

By cutting government spending aggressively, we will have sufficient resources to address the medical needs of our nation. This will enable us to continue importing essential medications for Malaria, HIV, and TB.”

40 votes from provincial representatives

18 votes from Super League clubs

18 votes from national league clubs

6 votes from affiliate associations

4 votes from women representatives

The winner must get 50%+1 of the valid votes cast to be declared as the winner of the elections.

Piers Morgan calls Kanye West a coward for walking out on him mid-interview

Piers Morgan had some choice words for Kanye West after he cut off their interview early, and didn’t hold back.
Piers Morgan recently attempted to interview Kanye West on his YouTube show, but unfortunately, their conversation didn’t last as long as expected. In the middle of the interview, Ye stormed off, leaving his sidekick Sneako alone to defend him. Morgan made it clear he didn’t appreciate this in the slightest, calling the Chicago rapper “a snivelling little coward” as well as an “antisemite” a “Hitler worshipper.”

The talk show host later took to social media to vent about the experience. “I interviewed Kanye West again today,” he wrote, as captured by No Jumper. “As I expected, given what I’ve said about him recently, it didn’t last long or go well. This was him right before he stomped off like a big baby before I could ask him why he’s become a vile, Hitler-loving, Nazi-slathering, anti-Semitic prick. Drops on @piersmorganuncensored later…”

He also shared a short clip of the unfinished interview on Instagram, calling Ye “a massive d*ck.”

“@piersmorgan Let’s have a real interview someday It’s all love,” he wrote in response to the incident. “We could have had one yesterday if you hadn’t run away before I could ask you any questions,” Morgan fired back. “When you’re prepared to actually do that, let me know.” It remains unclear whether or not that’s actually on the table at this point, but it doesn’t look a follow-up interview will be happening any time soon.

The short-lived chat featured several tense moments, including when Morgan got Ye’s follower count wrong. He said he had 32 million followers, when he actually has over 33 million. “You’re not gonna take inches off my d*ck, bro,” Ye responded. “I’m a gift, bro. Why do all you people in media act like you haven’t played my songs at your weddings, or graduations or at funerals or when your child was born?”

“This is what you get for now,” he said shortly before storming off. “We can circle back when you can count.”

FAKE NEWS

It all started with wild claims that you would win the elections and hand over power to yourselves in 2021. We all know how that ended. You lost. Then came the next rumour: that I would never be appointed in the new government. Again, you were wrong.

His Excellency the President gave me the honour to serve the Zambian people, and I have done so faithfully for over two years now. Every few months, like clockwork, you dust off the same script and claim I’ve been recalled.

Let me be clear: this latest fake news is just a repeat episode of the same tired propaganda you’ve been pushing since we defeated your Bill 10, stood firm against your corruption, stood against your tribalism, and beat you by 1 million votes.

I remain a humble civil servant, proud to serve. And when my tour of duty ends, it will not be because of rumour or fake blogs — it will be because, like every ambassador before me, “bu ambassador lifupa, wakolokotakofye waya!”

I am focused on my job, serving the Zambian people and flying our flag high.

To the people of Milenge and Chiwempala, please ignore this recycled fake news.

Woman fakes robbery, rape!

Woman fakes robbery, rape!

A mobile money operator in Nakonde, Muchinga Province, has been arrested for allegedly stealing K28,000 and providing false information, faking a robbery and rape.

Margate Nankamba, of Ntoni Village, was arrested after it was discovered that the aggravated robbery and rape that she initially reported to the police was false.

Nankamba, 25, reported to the police on Monday that she was robbed of K31,000 cash by two unknown men who also raped her.

According to Muchinga Province police commanding officer Dennis Moola, the suspect claimed she received a call from a man wanting to withdraw K50,000, prompting her to meet him.

The suspect alleged that two men in a vehicle invited her in, drove off and then raped and robbed her of the money.

He said police officers instituted investigations, but before they could conclude, Nankamba’s boss Margret Nakanyika reported her to the police the following day for theft by servant.

Mr Moola said police officers checked Nankamba’s transactions, which revealed that she did not have K31,000 that she alleged was stolen.

Nankamba later confessed that she lied about the rape and aggravated robbery.
