Diddy’s Mom Allegedly Exposed Him To Wild S33x Parties At Childhood Home

Diddy‘s mother allegedly exposed him to sex parties at an early age, so says one of the embattled mogul’s childhood friends.

Rolling Stone got a preview of the Peacock documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boyahead of its premiere on Tuesday (January 14). According to the publication, producer Tim “Dawg” Patterson speaks at length about the parties Janice Combs would throw back when they were children.

“On the weekend, [Diddy] partied in the house, and we did that a lot,” he said. “He was around all types of alcohol; he was around reefer smoke. Drug addicts around, lesbians around, homosexuals, he was around pimps, pushers. That was just who was in our house. People that attended the parties were from Harlem, from the streets. It wouldn’t be a thing to mistakenly walk into one of the bedrooms and you got a couple in there, butt naked.”

He continued: “That’s what we were privy to; this is what we were fed. Was it desensitizing us? I’m sure it was. Were we aware of it? No, that was just Saturday night.”

“I’ve always been asked the question why. I don’t know the answer to why, but I truly believe it all goes back to childhood.”

Another childhood friend, DJ EZ Lee Davis, is also interviewed in the doc and said that though he never attended Janice’s parties, he heard rumors about what went down and that “everyone was welcome.”

“[Janice] had little cool chicks that would come around and … she made sure everybody was comfortable,” he said.

Back in October, Janice Combs defended her son from accusations of sex trafficking and sexual assault in her first comments since his arrest.

Combs released a statement through her attorney Natlie G. Figgers in which she said: “It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies.

“To bear witness what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.”

83-year-old Combs also addressed her son’s relationship with Cassie and the brutal assault that was caught on camera by hotel CCTV.

“My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things, such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise,” she added.

Walter Mzembi Steps in to Mediate Mozambique’s Post-Election Crisis

The President of the Institute of Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) Africa, Walter Mzembi, has been called upon to mediate the escalating political crisis in Mozambique, following disputed elections that have plunged the nation into chaos.

In a formal appeal dated December 29, 2024, Mozambique’s opposition leader Venancio Antonio Bila Mondlane reached out to Mzembi, urging him to intervene in the wake of widespread unrest triggered by the October 9, 2024, election results. The Mozambique electoral commission declared ruling Frelimo candidate Daniel Chapo the winner, sparking protests that have resulted in loss of life, property destruction, and disruption of public services.

Mondlane’s letter to Mzembi highlighted the dire situation: “The Mozambican people find themselves at a critical juncture in their history, facing an unprecedented political and social crisis exacerbated by the electoral process of October 9, 2024.” He called for immediate action, stressing that stabilization efforts must occur before the scheduled inauguration on January 15, 2025, to prevent further deterioration.

The Institute of Cultural Diplomacy, known for its expertise in mediation and conflict resolution across Africa and globally, has committed to deploying a team to Mozambique. The organization, headquartered in London, aims to facilitate dialogue among all stakeholders, working toward a peaceful resolution.

Walter Mzembi, who previously served as Zimbabwe’s Foreign Affairs Minister, emphasized the urgency of resolving the crisis through impartial dialogue. “Stabilization of Mozambique has to be done in the next seven days or at least before January 15, 2025, the inauguration date, before the situation degenerates further,” he stated.Starlink internet

Mzembi proposed the immediate formation of a Council or Panel of Elders, comprising former presidents and eminent persons, to spearhead the mediation process. “The consummation of the council/panel of elders should be constituted urgently with former presidents/eminent persons taking the lead, while the Sadc Secretariat can play a facilitatory role across the framework,” he said, stressing the importance of fairness and justice for all political players to ensure long-term peace, unity, and development in Mozambique.

ICD Africa Secretary-General Pardon Tapfumaneyi confirmed their engagement in the matter. “We will be in Mozambique in a few days,” Tapfumaneyi said. “We will be meeting all stakeholders, including the Council of Elders of Sadc, trying to see how best these issues should be resolved. We are happy that Sadc has come in to try and resolve the crisis.”

Tapfumaneyi underscored the importance of Sadc’s neutrality in the process. “Sadc should not be seen to be partisan but should try to resolve the problem in a transparent manner before the inauguration on January 15,” he added.

Mondlane’s appeal and ICD Africa’s involvement mark a critical moment in efforts to restore stability in Mozambique. The region, already grappling with economic challenges and ongoing security threats, cannot afford further instability.

The intervention led by Mzembi and his team signals hope for a peaceful resolution, with emphasis on inclusivity, fairness, and the restoration of public confidence. As the clock ticks toward the inauguration date, all eyes are on Mozambique’s leadership and the role of regional and international mediators in averting a deepening crisis.

Jonathan Moyo defends Mnangagwa’s term extension, labels critics as malcontents

0

Exiled former Cabinet Minister Jonathan Moyo, once a vocal critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has described those opposing Mnangagwa’s proposed presidential term extension as malcontents.

Moyo’s comments come days after a faction of the main opposition party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), revealed support for Mnangagwa’s potential stay in power beyond 2028, a position that has been dismissed by another faction led by Jameson Timba.

Some members of Zanu-PF are pushing for amendments to Zimbabwe’s Constitution to remove term limits, allowing Mnangagwa to pursue a third term in office. However, this move is facing resistance from internal factions within the ruling party, including those aligned with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Sections 91(2) and 382(7) of the Constitution must be amended for Mnangagwa to secure a third term.

“Interesting. Meanwhile, there are some malcontents who are already eyeing the 2028 elections and agitating for their holding only and only because, as is now the toxic ritual,” said Moyo in response to the CCC faction’s support of Mnangagwa’s stay in power.

“They hope to dispute their conduct and outcome, even without the V11s or evidence of anything untoward!”

Moyo’s comment appears to be a veiled attack on CCC leader Nelson Chamisa, who has previously disputed the results of two consecutive elections and accused Mnangagwa of rigging.

Timba, who is aligned with Chamisa’s faction, has been vocal in urging Zanu-PF and supporters of Mnangagwa’s term extension to respect Zimbabwe’s supreme law.

Jonathan Moyo, who has been in self-exile since fleeing the 2017 coup that saw Mnangagwa take power, has since shifted his stance towards supporting the Zanu-PF leader. His association with G40, the faction that sought to succeed Mugabe, was dismantled during Mnangagwa’s ascent with the help of Chiwenga and the military.

After years of criticism, including questioning Mnangagwa’s leadership and chronicling the former Vice President’s role in atrocities such as Gukurahundi, Moyo has expressed support for Mnangagwa’s leadership since 2023. This shift came after his offer to assist a united CCC was rejected, with top officials arguing that he could not be trusted.

Mandela’s Grandson Released Due To Insufficient Evidence In Hijacking Case

South Africa’s former president, Nelson Mandela’s grandson, who was apprehended alongside four other suspects in a hijacking case, was released from custody on Friday. The authorities cited insufficient evidence connecting him to the crime. While the other suspects appeared in the Johannesburg magistrate’s court, Mandela’s grandson was notably absent.

Prosecutor’s Statement on the Case
Prosecutor Tshepo Mahange ka Mzizi informed the court that only the four suspects faced formal charges at this stage, including kidnapping, robbery, and assault of an Uber driver.

“Further investigations are ongoing, and until those are concluded, we cannot implicate the fifth suspect.”

Although the grandson arrived at the court premises in a police vehicle, he was neither presented before the court nor included in the charges. After the session, he was seen leaving in a private car.

Details Surrounding the Incident
The hijacking reportedly occurred on Wednesday along Louis Botha Avenue in Oaklands, Johannesburg. According to Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Supt Xolani Fihla, the tactical response unit acted on information from a vehicle tracking company. They traced the stolen white Toyota Corolla to a residence in Houghton, once owned by the late Nelson Mandela.

Upon their arrival, officers recovered the vehicle and detained five individuals — four men and one woman. A search of the property also led to the discovery of an unlicensed firearm. The car matched the description provided by the Uber driver who reported the incident.

Accusations Against the Suspects

According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane, the suspects allegedly requested an Uber ride, ambushed the driver, and hijacked his vehicle. The Uber driver was reportedly robbed of R800 in cash, along with an additional R300 deducted from their account.

“The driver contacted the tracking company, quickly alerting the JMPD tactical response unit. Officers managed to locate the stolen vehicle at the Houghton residence,” Mjonondwane stated. The recovered vehicle, its number plate, and the firearm are key evidence in the case.

DJ Akademiks Alleges Drake Helped LeBron James Cheat On His Wife

Drake and LeBron James have been the big story of the week. Drake released “Fighting Irish,” which many interpreted as a LeBron diss. The NBA superstar has clearly switched up on Drake in the last year, due to the fallout of the Kendrick Lamar battle.

LeBron has been team Kendrick from the onset, and the debate as to whether Drake is being sensitive or LeBron is being a bad friend rages on. DJ Akademiks got in on the conversation on Friday night. He also made some bold claims about the duo’s friendship.

DJ Akademiks alleged that Drake and LeBron James routinely went on “two mans” together. “Maybe Drake will keep teasing it,” Akademiks said during a live stream. “Let me just tell you what I’ve heard.

LeBron, you and Drake used to go on two mans.” Ak directly accused the NBA star of cheating on his wife, Savannah James, with Drake as the facilitator. “You’ve been cheating on your gddamn wife,” he alleged. “Drake used to facilitate the hes.” This obviously paints Drake in an unflattering light, but DJ Akademiks kept his focus on LeBron.

As far as he was concerned, LeBron should have more loyalty to Drake. He felt that the NBA star should not have switched up, and repeatedly said how much he liked Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” “You can’t dance to a song about him being a pedophile,” DJ Akademiks posited. “He used to supply you with the b*tches.” He then went on to say that Drake had a right to “snitch” on LeBron James for being unfaithful to his wife. The last statement, in particular, is interesting.

A leaked DM alleged to be from Drake made the rounds on social media recently. The post saw Drake allegedly draw a comparison between his own allegations and the ones made about LeBron’s marriage.

DJ Akademiks claimed the DM was fake, however. He even cited Drake as his source. Now, DJ Ak is claiming that Drake intended to “snitch” on the NBA legend as revenge for switching up on him.

“Sorry, buddy, you can’t do that,” he said regarding LeBron. “You’ve been living a lie, and everybody think you’re this perfect guy.” Akademiks has always stumped for Drake, but this may very well be the boldest claim he’s made against one of the 6 God’s “ops” to date. We’ll see what the fallout will be.

Chris Brown Wants Prisoners Fighting L.A. Fires To Have Sentences Shaved

Chris Brown has called for prisoners who have enlisted to tackle the Los Angeles wildfires to have their sentences cut.
Nearly 800 incarcerated firefighters have been deployed in L.A. since the enormous blazes began earlier this week and have devastated much of the California city.

Brown, who lives in L.A., is among those who have called for the inmate firefighters to be rewarded by the justice system for helping out during the disaster.

“LA… Make sure y’all throw a ceremony or parade for these firefighters and first responders after this,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories on Thursday (January 9).

“Also the prisoners who were out there risking they lives need time knocking off their sentences. Just saying.”

The R&B singer also expressed skepticism over the origin of the fires, writing in a separate post: “Someone starting these fires. Shit don’t add up.”

It has been reported that the incarcerated firefighters are being paid between $5.80 and $10.24 per day, plus $1 per hour extra when they are responding to an active emergency.

The Game has also been busy helping those affected by the fires.

The Compton rapper said he would help people who have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the blazes find accommodation free of charge.

“Me & [talent manager Travis Wilson] are helping 10 families effected [sic] by the fires here get into @airbnb for a week free of charge [praying hands emoji],” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.

He then directed those interested to message Wilson on Instagram, adding: “Must have an identification or drivers license with address in the affected areas.”

At least 10 people have been killed since the fires began, with the number expected to rise.

As many as 10,000 structures have also been destroyed in the ferocious blazes, which have been difficult to stop due to powerful winds and dry conditions.

Almost 200,000 people have been evacuated from their homes and it is already the most destructive fire in Los Angeles history, with damages widely expected to surpass $50 billion.

Chopper Alleges Diddy Threatened To Kill Da Band Member Freddy P

Chopper put on a clinic during his recent Art of Dialogue interview. The rapper worked under Diddy for several years, and did not hold back when it came to the stories. He claimed Diddy hated Tupac and got mad whenever the West Coast icon was mentioned.

He alleged that he saw Diddy kissing another man in a studio. Now, Chopper claims that the Bad Boy mogul threatened to take out one of his own artists. The artist in question was Freddy P, who worked alongside Chopper in Da Band.

Chopper told the Art of Dialogue that Freddy P had a particularly difficult time working under Diddy. He stood up for the rapper, and vowed to always be there for him. That said, he did feel compelled to share a story involving Freddy and Diddy. The rapper claimed that Diddy became so frustrated with Freddy that he actually threatened to kill him.

“Diddy threatened his life,” Chopper alleged. “Told him he was gonna kill him. Fred said something slick to Diddy.” The rapper claims the incident took place during the filming of Making Da Band on MTV, and Diddy allegedly turned the cameras off.

Chopper claims the threats were not limited to murder, either. Diddy allegedly told Freddy P he would buy his whole block and move everybody he knew out. “And every time you walk outside, somebody will be shooting at you,” the mogul allegedly said. Freddy P left Da Band soon after. Chopper claims that he was so offended by what Diddy told him that he wanted to take the mogul out himself. “Fred wanted to kill that n**ga right there,” the rapper claimed.

Chopper was in the room when the alleged confrontation went down. He claims Freddy P was looking around the room when Diddy was threatening him, in an attempt to locate a sharp object.

“Fred wanted to find a knife or something,” the rapper posited. “Fred wanted to poke that boy. I truly believe [that].” Freddy P has spoken on Diddy several times since the mogul was arrested. He told Art of Dialogue he was not surprised by the accusations leveled against his former boss. He also confirmed the story that Chopper told. Freddy P claimed he would never work with Diddy again after he was threatened, and he made good on his word.

Zimbabwe safe from severe Tropical Storm Dikeledi

0

The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) has assured Zimbabweans that the country will not be affected by Severe Tropical Storm Dikeledi throughout the week of Friday, January 10 to Wednesday, January 15, 2025. The storm is currently located approximately 3,000 kilometers away from Zimbabwe.

In a weather advisory issued at 6 PM on Friday, January 10, the MSD reported that Tropical Storm Dikeledi is expected to make landfall north of Vohemar town in Antsiranana province, northeastern Madagascar, on January 11, during the mid-afternoon (UTC).

The storm, classified as a tropical cyclone due to its maximum sustained winds of up to 179 km/h, is expected to weaken after crossing Madagascar before re-emerging in the Mozambique Channel.

The MSD emphasized that Dikeledi poses no direct threat to Zimbabwe. However, the department has forecast heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Matabeleland North, Mashonaland West, and Manicaland provinces, which are unrelated to the tropical storm.

The MSD outlined the trajectory of Dikeledi and provided context for Zimbabwe’s cyclone season, which typically begins in December but started early this year, in October 2024.

“To date, there have been two Tropical Cyclones – Ancha and Bheki – which did not reach Mozambique or Zimbabwe, and one, Chido, that reached Mozambique but not Zimbabwe,” the advisory stated.

The advisory explained that Dikeledi, the fourth system of the season, has reached the Severe Tropical Storm stage, weaker than a tropical cyclone. It is expected to weaken further after passing over Madagascar.

“Considering the current trajectory, the impacts on Mozambique – if any – will only be assessed after it enters the Mozambique Channel, specifically after Sunday, January 12, 2025. The Meteorological Services Department will continue to monitor and keep the nation informed about its strength and path.”

While Zimbabwe remains unaffected, the MSD highlighted the importance of vigilance during the tropical cyclone season, as most cyclones affecting the country originate in the Southwest Indian Ocean.

Citizens in provinces experiencing heavy rains and thunderstorms are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid risks such as flooding and lightning strikes.

The department assured the public of continuous updates regarding Dikeledi and other weather developments, urging them to rely on official communication channels for accurate information.

Arsenal Hungry To Win FA Cup Trophy Again – Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that the team is ready to win the FA Cup trophy again, five years after they defeated Chelsea at Wembley to emerge as champions.

Arteta captained the Gunners to the trophy in his first season as a player in 2014 before winning it again in his first season as a coach in 2020.

The Gunners will take on Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday in the third round of the competition as they begin their quest to win the trophy.

Arteta is confident that the club can win a record-extending 15th FA Cup trophy this season starting with a win against Manchester United.

He said: “It’s a massive part of our history. We’ve won it 14 times and it is a competition very attached to us.

“It’s a beautiful game to play against a massive club, and a very special occasion as well with the amount of supporters that they’re going to bring, so it’s a very big game.”

Arsenal came back from a goal down against Chelsea in the final in 2020 to win 2-1 thanks to brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arteta admitted it was a tough period in his first season but he was delighted to win the trophy.

He said: “I was so happy and proud because it was a really tough period, emotionally as well. To take my first managerial job in the middle of the season, then go home for two-and-a-half months, then start competing again in those circumstances, it was tricky. But I was so happy with the result. I just want to replicate the same but sharing it with other people.

“We have to be noisier, more on the front foot, certainly [more] than them. It’s a special occasion to create that atmosphere, I think it’s a beautiful football atmosphere, so let’s make it our own.”

rteta has been impressed with Ruben Amorim since the Portuguese manager took over from Erik Ten Hag in November.

He said: “When you look especially at the big teams [they’ve played], how they perform and the results that they’ve got, it’s very impressive.

“I know him well, I followed him a lot when he was in Portugal and there is a big reason why he is where he is at the moment, and he deserves to be there.”

Manchester United are the defending champions of the competition after beating Manchester City 2-1 in May to win the trophy for the 13th time.

The Red Devils ended their four-match winless run against Liverpool with a credible 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Amorim has vowed to play his best team in the encounter as he aims to build on the Liverpool’s performance.

He said: “At this moment, I’m living day by day.
“What I’m thinking is that we have had one week without a game, we had a day off [after Liverpool] and we could work the team a little bit.

“So it doesn’t make sense to rest players now, for both of the games here, so we have to put out the best team and we have to follow the last performance. Now we are rotating less, although sometimes I have had to choose fresh legs. Now I feel they are at the same level.

“I didn’t rotate because I wanted to rotate, I was just trying to find the best solutions to win. I had some doubts and the guys who were more fresh were able to cope with the demands of the game.

“We want to win the FA Cup and you never know what can happen in this type of competition. Sometimes it’s better to win this type of game, so my focus now is day by day and we just want to win this tie.”

The Red Devils are currently languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table, seven points above the relegation zone.

Maresca Happy Over Chelsea’s Reaction To Winless Run

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is delighted with the team’s reaction to their poor run of form in the Premier League.

The Blues have failed to win their last four matches in the league to slip to fourth on the log, which is threatening their Champions League hopes.

Maresca’s men lost to Fulham, and Ipswich Town and recorded disappointing draws against Everton, and Crystal Palace.

The Italian manager is impressed with his players’ reactions to the winless run.

He said: “The reaction is not weird or strange. It is a good one.

“Even in the last game against Palace that we drew, the mood was not the best in the changing room at the final whistle because they have the desire to win all the games. This is something very good.”

Maresca admitted that the poor form has surprised him and his coaching staff, saying that sustaining such high levels over the course of an entire campaign with a young, and developing team was always unlikely.

“You also have to analyse the games, and in the last game against Palace the team was very good.

“It’s a matter of a moment and hopefully we can win the game soon and come back with three points.”

He also provided injury updates on Wesley Fofana, Reece James, and Romeo Lavia.

Maresca said: “We speak the same language in terms of we communicate between each other in English and in French, so it has been quite clear. I spoke with Wes – the 12 to 16 weeks the club mentioned the situation.

“Wes is thinking he can recover sooner than that. We are all happy if Wes recovers and will be available for tomorrow, but we are going to see.

“There is not any problem, I just told you what the medical staff said to me, that it is around 12 and 16 weeks. Wes is thinking he can recover earlier than that. We are all happy if Wes is back as soon as possible.”

Reece James, and Romeo Lavia are expected to feature in Chelsea’s FA Cup clash against Morecambe on Saturday.

“Reece and Romeo are both available and hopefully they can get some minutes for tomorrow’s game.

“The rest are all available for selection other than those that were already injured from before. Benoit Badiashile and Wesley (Fofana) are out and Keirnan (Dewsbury-Hall) is still injured, so he won’t be involved.”

Maresca is expected to make wholesale changes to the size that played out a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace last week.

He said: “Probably, as we were in a moment of the season second and close to first, people thought that we were not going to have this kind of moment. But it’s not real.

“At this moment, the only team since the start of the season that is winning nearly every game is Liverpool. Otherwise, every team has had moments where they have struggled with the results, but it’s part of the season.

LUNGU WON’T RETIRE, HE WILL GUIDE THE NATION TOWARDS  ELECTING A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT IN 2026

LUNGU WON’T RETIRE, HE WILL GUIDE THE NATION TOWARDS  ELECTING A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT IN 2026

PRESS STATEMENT

Mpika, 11Th January 2025

Dr. Lungu’s continued involvement in the political arena is not a matter of personal ambition but a duty to the millions of Zambians who look to him for hope and direction in these trying times.

Those hired by the UPND to advise Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu to retire from politics should enjoy the crumbs they have been given in peace, rather than mocking the suffering majority who are calling for ECL to help unite the opposition, provide alternative policies, and reclaim the democratic space that has shrunk to unprecedented levels in the history of our country.

The Zambian people are enduring immense hardships, and those who have aligned themselves with the regime have no moral authority to advise anyone to retire. Today, Zambia stands as a global example of corruption, youth unemployment, poverty, and injustice. Any reasonable leader or politician should focus their energy on advocating for a just society, where national resources are prioritized to uplift the poor.

Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, with his wisdom and experience, remains Zambia’s political midwife, poised to guide the country towards electing a Republican President in 2026—one who will dedicate their mandate to fighting poverty and youth unemployment.

Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, with his unparalleled wisdom and vast political experience, remains a pivotal figure in Zambia’s political landscape. He is a statesman whose leadership qualities have been tested and proven during his tenure as Republican President. At a time when the country is grappling with numerous challenges, including high poverty levels, rampant youth unemployment, and growing disillusionment among citizens, Dr. Lungu’s voice and guidance are more critical than ever.

His ability to unite diverse political interests and foster dialogue among opposition parties makes him the cornerstone of a movement that seeks to restore democracy, justice, and economic prosperity. Dr. Lungu has the capacity to rally the nation behind a vision for change, nurturing leadership that prioritizes the well-being of ordinary Zambians.

SODOMY ROCKS CHIZONGWE SCHOOL AS WORRIED PARENTS RAISE ALARM

SODOMY ROCKS CHIZONGWE SCHOOL AS WORRIED PARENTS RAISE ALARM

PARENTS and guardians of Chipata’s Chizongwe Technical School have raised concerns over allegations of sodomy at the school.

This has sparked outrage among parents and guardians, with some accusing the school administration of failing to address the issue in an urgent and transparent manner.

A parent recently shared a disturbing account in a WhatsApp group and revealed that their 12 year old Grade eight son was allegedly sodomised by a 17 year old Grade 10 pupil during the third term last year.

The family only discovered the incident while investigating a case of stolen books on the last day of the term.

The parent alleged that their son had become withdrawn, depressed and missed classes yet the school did not inform them of the situation.

“The school knows what I’m talking about. What hurts the most is the fact that the school never informed us when it happened. The boy was missing classes and when paraded in front of the teachers to ask about him, the boy was painted blue black.”

“My son had withdrawn from school and slept into depression and nobody cared. He was missing classes but nobody cared. Claiming to be sick as one of the teachers put it but nobody cared. My boy loved the school until he called the father asking for a transfer claiming bulling is too much. This got us thinking, on the closing meeting, we overhead the head teacher talking about sodomy,” shared the parent.

The write up triggered heated discussions among parents and teachers on the WhatsApp group with many expressing fear for their children’s safety.

Meanwhile, Eastern Provincial Education Officer (PEO) Brainely Malambo confirmed awareness of the allegations and stated that government had intervened in dealing with sodomy issues.

Malambo claimed that there were churches who would go to schools in Eastern province and call pupils for prayers at awkward hours.

He stated that schools are meant to focus on academic excellence and discouraged any activities that may compromise pupils’ safety or well being.

“One time I had that issue, I don’t want people to be meeting my pupils at awkward hours what they are doing is not about church. I was attacked by political parties on social media,  that’s what I said yet I had all the data that people were doing in my schools.”

“People went quiet, they almost took that matter to parliament until some more data were unleashed. My children were sent there to concentrate on school. I’m here to ensure that my children learn. I said no more questionable meetings for my children at night that are coming through some churches. If there is such a pupil at Chizongwe, they should be taken back home and they should be taken to day schools,” charged Malambo.

In the meantime, Chizongwe Technical School headteacher Ronald Mugala acknowledged that sodomy had been a long standing issue but reassured parents that the administration was working with law enforcement agencies and other institutions to address the problem.

In a WhatsApp message statement that was forwarded to Kalemba by one of the parents, Mugala outlined the school’s efforts, including expelling perpetrators and collaborating with government agencies like the police and the Ministry of Education.

He stressed that the vice often originates in communities and spills over into schools, making it a shared responsibility between parents and the administration.

“Basing on our findings, the sodomy issue has been a complex vice that has existed at our school for some years but thank God it’s been unearthed and being arrested steadily. Who needs the applause, the old silence or the current exposure? I can challenge you, while our boys are with you, ask them about this vice, since when and the current stance. You will be shocked. The school, together with other government institutions like Police, DEC, PTC, MOE (PS, PEOs, DEBS) SU, is taking the fight seriously and steadily,” said Mugala.

“Sodomy is coming right from our own homes and perpetrators are right, our own boys from some, amongst ourselves and the school is on the receiving hand. It’s from our communities to the school and suspected to be a strong movement probably funded, boarding schools being fertile targets. Some of the parents that we have ever called over such cases can attest to this fact because no any parent doubted the allegations, though shocked in disbelief.”

“The school rules have been straightforward, the perpetrators have been kicked out. Remember, the school is just on the control management or management control and these boys are coming from our own homes. Remember, every parent we summoned expressed strong shock and disbelief and cried. These children can shock parents.”

It’s Loan, Not Sale – Money Lenders Told

It’s Loan, Not Sale – Money Lenders Told
By Dickson Jere

The highest Court in Zambia – Supreme Court- has finally made its position on the rampant “fake” Contracts of Sale transactions by money lenders who eventually grab houses from borrowers. It is a landmark case!

You see, a lady borrowed K300,000 from the Chinese money lender and pledged a house as collateral. Instead of mortgage, the money lenders prepared a Contract of Sale of the house and converted the K300,000 into dollars and added interest.

The amount was now at USD67,800. When she defaulted on the six months loan, the Chinese Shylock went ahead and changed ownership of the house which is situated in Chilanga and valued at over K3.4 million. The lady lost her house!

She sued the Chinese in the High Court, arguing that she had entered into a loan agreement and not sale of the house. After hearing the case, the Judge agreed with her and cancelled the purported “Contract of Sale” and ordered that the transaction be treated as a loan.

There was no agreement that she wanted to sell the house and buy it back within six months at higher price. It did not make sense at all unless it was a loan.

Unsatisfied with the outcome, the Chinese appealed to the Court of Appeal where three Judges handled the case. They ruled that the “Contract of Sale” was valid because the lady voluntarily agreed and signed the document. Simply, she knew what she was signing for.

The lady climbed to the Supreme Court arguing that she got a loan and the house was merely collateral. Three Judges of the Supreme Court analyzed the case and found that the terms of the transaction pointed to a loan and not a sale of the house.

“When the contract is considered with all other evidence, it all points to the conclusion that this was a loan and not a sale,” the Judges said.

The Supreme Court noted that the content of the said Contract of Sale which had “Buy Back” clauses was vague and pointed to the fact that the lady was merely getting a loan.

“The ordinary and natural meaning of the contract leads to the conclusion that it was meant to be a loan and not a sale,” they said, adding that the lady only received K300,000 and not even the mentioned USD 67,800.

The court said since the sale was a nullity, there was no basis of claiming the monies except for the K300,000, which should be paid back with interest at the bank lending rate.

“Anything more would be usury,” the Judges said and ordered that the Certificate of Title given to the Chinese be cancelled.

The Judges observed that these fake sale transactions with “buy back clauses” have become prevalent in Zambia and urged Parliament to pass laws to prevent the scourge.

“The time has in our view, come for legislative intervention in transaction such conveyancing and mortgages so that, it becomes mandatory for parties seeking to buy, sell or borrow using property as security, to obtain independent legal advice before doing so,” they concluded.

Case citation – Gillian Mutinta v New Future Financial Company Limited- Appeal No 13 of 2023 and Judgment delivered yesterday 10th January 2025.

NB. The Court declared the sale as a nullity also because the lady was an Administrator of the property for the deceased and she did not obtain Court Order to sell as well as her appointment was from the Local Court which had no jurisdiction. I will write more about this in my next article.

FAZ ELECTORAL COMMITTEE UNVEILS FIFA APPROVED ELECTIONS ROADMAP

FAZ ELECTORAL COMMITTEE UNVEILS FIFA APPROVED ELECTIONS ROADMAP

…campaigns open on Feb 22

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Electoral Committee has unveiled the roadmap for the 2025 elective annual general meeting to be held on March 29.

Addressing the media, Electoral Committee chairperson Ronald Hatoongo said nominations will open on February 1, 2025 with FIFA having approved the roadmap.

Hatoongo was flanked by Governance and Review Committee chairperson Brian Msidi who confirmed that FIFA had given the roadmap a thumbs up after dissecting the FAZ constitution and Electoral Code.

“Then we will have opening of nominations which are governed by article 33 (8) that requires 45 days. We shall have eligibility checks, these eligibility checks should be done by 1st February 2025 (when nominations open). Once that has been done, of course this will be done by the governance committee now, previously it used to done by what was known as the Ethics Committee,” said the seasoned lawyer.

“Once the outcome of the eligible checks is done, people will be given an opportunity to appeal, those who may feel that the outcome is not fair or is flawed at law. The Appeals Committee will look at, after that there will be approval of valid nominations which will be sent to my committee for me to announce valid nominations and the official opening for campaigns for elections.”

“By 7th February 2025, we will close nominations and between 7th and 9th February if there are issues that may arise they will be given a chance to do that (clarify). By 9th February there will be no more review of people who have applied to be nominated that will be the final closing of (nominations).”

The two day window after the closure of nominations will be used for candidates to provide any missing pieces demanded by the regulations.

The Electoral Committee chairperson said that the final announcement of validated nominations for elections will be done on February 17, 2025 after which candidates who would not have been successful will have the right to appeal from February 17-18.

The Appeals Committee will communicate its final decision on February 22, 2025 and officially open the campaign window.

And Hatoongo said there was no breach as regards the dates for the elections as far as the FAZ constitution was concerned.

“We have dissected this constitution several times and we do not see any breaches whatsoever. This is so because the constitution is couched in general terms when it comes to elections. FAZ needs to insert a date of the elections going forward,” he said.

“Article 27 (2), article 33 (3) and article 79 of this constitution gives unfettered power to executive committee.  We have bounced back this constitution to FIFA as we sit, and even this roadmap we bounced it off to FIFA, they also dissected our constitution and our code they have approved this roadmap. As you know the constitution of FIFA is superior to our constitution, ours is subservient to this constitution. They also have lawyers there who looked at these documents and they are in agreement with us. So there is no breach whatsoever.”

Meanwhile Governance and Review Committee chairperson Brian Msidi, who is a lawyer said no one except the executive committee could set the date for FAZ elections.

“It will be untoward for anyone to think that an AGM can be called at their whim. It is the mandate of the executive to call for the AGM which in this case will be an elective AGM. This announcement is preceded by a FIFA thumbs up if you like because we could not have convened in this manner if FIFA had a different view,” Msidi said.

On December 21, 2024, FAZ general Secretary Reuben Kamanga announced the roadmap for the 2025 elections after the executive committee approved the roadmap.

FAZ availed the roadmap to FIFA who have since given it their seal of approval paving way for the process to run its full course.

Provincial elections will commence on March 15 while the elective AGM will be held on March 29.

Under the revised and FIFA aligned FAZ constitution, provincial elections precede the main election.

CHISHALA CHILUFYA CALLS FOR POLITICAL MATURITY AND FAIRNESS IN ZAMBIA

CHISHALA CHILUFYA CALLS FOR POLITICAL MATURITY AND FAIRNESS IN ZAMBIA

Friday, January 10, 2025 (Smart Eagles)

Renowned social and political analyst, Mr. Chishala Chilufya, has expressed concern over the growing hostility in Zambian politics, urging political leaders and citizens to embrace tolerance, fairness, and mutual respect. He criticized the treatment of former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu by the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND), calling for greater equity and maturity in governance.

“There is too much hate in Zambian politics,” Mr. Chilufya said. “Politics should be a competition of ideas, not a platform for personal vendettas and hostility. What we are witnessing is unhealthy for our democracy and the nation as a whole.”

Drawing comparisons with Malawi, Mr. Chilufya pointed to the treatment of former leaders as an example Zambia could learn from. He noted that in Malawi, former President Professor Peter Mutharika, despite being an active critic of the incumbent President Lazarus Chakwera, enjoys state security and the freedom to hold rallies.

“Look at Malawi,” he said. “Professor Mutharika is challenging the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in the 2025 elections while holding rallies and making strong political statements, yet he is treated with dignity and accorded proper state security. This is how a mature democracy functions. Meanwhile, here in Zambia, we claim to be more advanced than Malawi, yet they are ahead of us in political maturity.”

Mr. Chilufya urged Zambian leaders to take lessons from Malawi, emphasizing that respecting the rights of former leaders and political opponents fosters national unity and strengthens democracy.

“As a nation, we must reflect on our approach to these issues. The treatment of former state leaders often lacks respect until their passing, when they are suddenly celebrated with state funerals. This inconsistency creates unnecessary divisions and sets a damaging precedent. It’s 2025—it’s time for serious conversations about fairness and respect for all political players,” he emphasized.

He also highlighted the need for citizens, civil society organizations, and the Church to hold the government accountable and promote inclusivity and dialogue in politics.

“Zambians must demand better. We cannot allow politics to divide us. We are one nation, and our differences in political opinion should not breed hatred or exclusion,” he added.

Mr. Chilufya questioned the sincerity of Zambia’s declaration as a Christian nation, challenging leaders and citizens to uphold Christian principles such as love and unity.

“What does it mean to declare Zambia a Christian nation if we fail to practice the principles of Christianity, which are anchored on love and respect? Our Constitution calls for the upholding of human rights and the principles of democracy and good governance, yet we see divisions fueled by hate and bitterness,” he said.

He cited the recent Petauke Central by-election as an example of politics driven by animosity. “Where did this by-election come from? Is this what we call democracy?” he asked.

Mr. Chilufya further criticized the selective treatment of political figures. “When Honorable Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda visited President Hakainde Hichilema at Community House or welcomed him at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, he was praised as a saint. Yet, when he accompanied former President Edgar Lungu to Eastern Province to attend a Reformed Church in Zambia (RCZ) function in Chipata or City Market, he was labeled a criminal. Why such hypocrisy? Are we truly Christians, or are we mocking God?”

He concluded by calling for a political culture rooted in love and unity. “Let’s build our country on the foundation of love, not bitterness and hate. Only then can Zambia move forward,” Mr. Chilufya concluded.

Zambia’s Poor Foreign Policy Decsions Chocking the Zambian Economy- Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

Zambia’s Poor Foreign Policy Decsions Chocking the Zambian Economy

Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba wrote;

I know the issue of Foreign Policy is a matter for the Chief Diplomat, the Head of State.

But his key Ministers on this matter; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon.Mulambo Haimbe, Minister of Finance and National Planning, Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane and Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Chipoka Mulenga and their teams are failing the country lamentably.

Look at this;

● Zimbabwe; Zimbabwe has imposed a $21,500 transit fee per truck. This is against trade protocal and amounts to imposition of trade and non-trade barriers contrary to COMESA and SADC trade protocals. So far we have not seen an aggressive engagement with Zimbabwean authorities or with SADC or COMESA to ensure that Zimbabwe lifts these illegal transit fees.

Even the seemingly simple issue of surrendering and extraditing Petauke Central Independent MP, Emmanuel Jay Banda from Harare to Lusaka, was thwarted and caught up in these knots affecting the Foreign policy.

● Mozambique; Hundreds of Fuel tankers and trucks stranded in Beira and Nakala. Zambia was registering a large number of voters to participate in the Mozambican general election.

Even when we raised concerns, the Zambian authorities did not bother or demonstrate that the country hosts such a large number of Mozambicans in Zambia.

Today the outcome of that election has brought chaos and civil unrest in Mozambique.and has disrupted trade, rail and road transport.

There are hundreds of trucks carrying Zambian fuel caught up in this post-electoral conflict and instability currently occuring in Mozambique.

We have not seen Zambia push for quick resolution of this conflict or demand for an emergency and extraordinary SADC meetings to bring the belligerents together.

To overcome the power crisis that Zambia has faced as a result of the 2023 drought, ZESCO signed an agreement with Mozambique’s state-owned energy firm, Mozambique Electricity (EDM), to import 300 megawatts.

This has also been affected by the civil unrest and tensions taling place in Mozambique

● DRC; the perennial crisis at Kasumbalesa is back with over 1,500 trucks stranded. There is never a good explanation for this frequent crisis.

But there are issues.

Zambia collected an advance of $15million on the export of $50m worth of maize to the country.

Minister of Defence, Ambrose Lwiji Lufuma informed the nation that Government had received the upfront payment. This was in addition to the ZNS and murky importation of tonnes and tonnes of GMO mealie-meal imported from South Africa by Zambia and destined to the DRC.

These multi-million dollar transactions were suspicious.

● Tanzania; Protests at Tunduma Border in Tanzania that has seen another set of large numbers of fuel tankers destined to Zambia stranded.

In June 2024, Tanzania had also signed a contract to supply and deliver 650,000 tons of maize to Zambia.

But Tanzania has suspended the maize exports to Zambia due to non-payment issues, with the Tanzanian National Food Reserve Agency citing Zambia’s failure to fulfill contractual obligations regarding payment for previously supplied maize.

FRA has failed to submit letters of credit and has delayed in implementing new payment proposals. National Food Reserve Agency, has notified Zambia of the suspension of maize exports until outstanding payments are settled in full!

Zambia is a land-locked country, and the issues affecting borders, mivement of goods and services and trade must never be compromised as their failure may cause shortages of goods and services in Zambia and therefore spark civil unrest in Zambia.

Strangely, all we are hearing are press reports from the immigration department of Zambia’s escalated mass deportation of DRC, Rwandese, Mozambique and Zimbabwean nationals.

In diplomacy, occurrences are not happenstance!

Let us therefore get to attend to the concerns from the issue of AFRICOM, to sectional trade interest some powerful people in Hichilema’s government have taken in DRC, and Tanzania.

CHIMWEMWE TEACHER PACKS HER ENTIRE HOUSE AFTER “HEAD TEACHER” JAB

CHIMWEMWE TEACHER PACKS HER ENTIRE HOUSE AFTER “HEAD TEACHER” JAB

Chimwemwe Township in Kitwe was turned upside down this after a dramatic showdown between a teacher, her overly talkative husband, and a Canter truck that will surely be the talk of the komboni for weeks.

Regina Banda, a 39-year-old teacher and certified queen of silent vengeance, decided to end her marriage in what locals are calling “ati bola naikosa”. It all started as she prepared to report for duty in Kalulushi, only for her husband—who clearly thinks he’s Zambia’s Trevor Noah—to start throwing verbal jabs about her “relationship” with her head teacher.

“Now that schools have opened, it will just be, ‘I was with the head teacher doing this, I was with the head teacher doing that,'” he said, sipping his morning tea like it was an Mosi lager.

Regina, showing the patience of a ZESCO customer waiting for power to return, stayed quiet. But her silence wasn’t surrender—it was the warning before the storm. The man, who was clearly on a roll, added: “Is your head teacher not transferred? He loves working with women too much. Let’s see how much he enjoys working when they send him to Shang’ombo.”

Neighbors say Regina stopped packing her bags and stood still for a moment, as if asking her ancestors whether this was the day for her to explode. Then, without a word, she walked out of the house.

Minutes later, a Canter truck appeared, driven by a man who clearly didn’t ask too many questions. Regina, now fully in “enough-is-enough” mode, started loading everything in sight. Sofas, beds, pots, the plasma TV, even the curtain rods—nothing was safe.

“She even took the ashtray, and they don’t even smoke,” said one bemused neighbor, who had come outside to enjoy the free entertainment.

Meanwhile, the husband stood there, clutching his oversized Salaula shirt, looking like a man who had just realized he might have gone too far.

As the Canter filled to capacity, Regina turned to her husband and delivered the fatal blow: “Don’t call me. Don’t come near my family. Since you think I open my legs for everyone, go and marry your head teacher!”

The husband, who was preparing to travel to Ngabwe for work, reportedly sat down on the floor of their now-empty house, surrounded by nothing but his Salaula wardrobe and a plate of cold nshima.

The Chimwemwe community is in a frenzy, with everyone taking sides. Some say Regina was right to leave, as the husband clearly has a “loose mouth.” Others believe she overreacted, claiming she had been waiting for an excuse to leave.

“Ba Regina balibe time. If it were me, I’d have taken even the door frames,” one woman joked, while another added, “Nomba who will explain to ba landlord what happened to the house?”

As for the husband, his komboni nickname has already changed to “Head Teacher’s Assistant,” and it’s unlikely he’ll live this one down. Regina, on the other hand, is probably in Kalulushi, sipping her tea peacefully and plotting her next move.

Chimwemwe will not forget this drama anytime soon, and neither will the husband—who now has nothing but a pile of Salaula and regrets to keep him company.

Diddy Accused Of Forcing Alleged Victims To Wear Specific Outfits To Indicate Their Availability

Diddy continues to face more legal accusations about his alleged wrongdoing, particularly as it relates to his infamous White Parties in the Hamptons and Miami, as well as other gatherings. Now, Adria English – reportedly a former go-go dancer who worked at these parties – filed a lawsuit against him that claims he forced women to wear a particular dress code to indicate their sexual exploitation and sexually available status for guests.

“She later learned that the [color-coded] uniforms [forced] her and other trafficking victims… to indicate to guests whether a victim was available for sexual exploitation,” Adria English’s lawyer Joel M. Taylor expressed according to AllHipHop. “[Diddy] would choose the uniform and color that girls would wear to indicate to the rest of the partygoers that she was for sale as a sex slave.” English reportedly worked as a dancer at the 2004 Labor Day White Party, allegedly falling into an exploitative environment under false pretenses that she would be able to make her way into the music industry. She also alleged that these parties would eventually turn into “freak-offs” that forced her and others into nonconsensual sexual acts.

“[Adria English] was required to wear a black dress to the ‘White Party’ not simply to denote her capacity as an employee, but more sinisterly as a sex-trafficked sex worker who had been drugged and r**ed while unconscious by multiple guests at a previous party,” the lawsuit against Diddy reportedly read. However, English also struggled to tell her side of the story in court, as her legal team suddenly departed her. They cited “irreconcilable differences” around legal strategies and settlement demands, citing “undermining behavior” and a “tone and lack of respect” on her part.

Meanwhile, Diddy awaits a May trial on federal RICO charges of alleged sex trafficking and racketeering, as well as various allegations via civil lawsuits. He and his legal team continue to deny any and all accusations of wrongdoing, save for his documented abuse of Cassie. Many other accusations did not enter the legal space at press time, but they certainly paint a dark and alleged picture of Sean Combs’ deeds.

NDOLA WOMAN DUMPS TEARS AS HUSBAND PICKS MARKET TOMATOES

NDOLA WOMAN DUMPS TEARS AS HUSBAND PICKS MARKET TOMATOES

Drama unfolded in Ndola’s Mushili Township when Mary Mwale, a 29-year-old stay-at-home mom, was left in a puddle of tears after her husband, Peter, left her for a marketeer selling tomatoes at Masala Market. The couple, married for five years, had what Mary thought was a stable life until Peter decided “tomato life” was better than her home-cooked nshima.

The commotion began at breakfast when Peter, with the audacity of a Lusaka minibus conductor, declared he was tired of “coming home to problems and porridge.” He packed his clothes into a torn black plastic bag and said, “I’m going to Maureen. She understands me better.” Mary, still clutching a pot of nshima from the previous night, could only watch as Peter walked out the door.

By mid-morning, Mary’s sobs had attracted half the komboni. “Can you imagine? He left me for a marketeer! After five years of marriage and two children!” she cried, as neighbors tried to comfort her. One elderly woman joked, “Don’t worry, mama. Tomatoes don’t last forever; he’ll come back when the soup is sour.”

Peter, meanwhile, was spotted later that day at Masala Market, happily carrying a sack of charcoal for Maureen. Witnesses said he looked like a man auditioning for Zed Celebrity Couples. “Awe, this man has ironed his Salaula shirt to impress Maureen,” one marketeer laughed. Back in Mushili, neighbors couldn’t stop roasting him. “Peter will learn that tomatoes don’t pay school fees!”

The neighborhood quickly rallied around Mary, offering food, clothes, and even a little money. “Start your own tomato stall next to Maureen’s,” one cheeky neighbor suggested, sparking laughter. But Mary wasn’t in the mood for jokes. “This man has been eating my nshima for five years. Now he wants market nshima? Let him stay there!” she declared.

The story spread like bushfire, with komboni WhatsApp groups turning it into memes and jokes. A remixed song titled “From Mushili Beans to Market Tomatoes” even started circulating. When asked if she’d take Peter back, Mary shrugged. “Awe sure, he’s had his last taste of my beans. I’ll focus on my children and find a better man who doesn’t confuse tomatoes with love!”

Meanwhile, Maureen, the marketeer, reportedly told her friends, “I didn’t steal Peter; he came willingly.” But market gossipers were quick to warn her. “Wait until Mary opens her stall. You’ll see competition!”

As the sun set, Mary, sipping tea with her supportive neighbors, said with a smile, “Life moves on. But Peter? Let him keep moving, just not back here.” Komboni philosophers wrapped it up perfectly: “Tomatoes garnish nshima, but nshima is the foundation. Peter will soon learn that lesson.”

Mugabe Family Wins Legal Battle Against Chief Over The Late President’s Remains

The Mugabe family has finally won a legal battle against a Zvimba Chief over the former president’s remains.
Zimbabwe’s late long-time ruler, Robert Mugabe’s family, continues to grapple with legal challenges surrounding his final resting place. Mugabe, who passed away in 2019, was buried at his rural homestead in Kutama village, reportedly to safeguard his grave from potential exhumation.

His children—Bona, Tinotenda, and Chatunga—recently secured a significant legal victory not to have his remains exhumed.

Legal Proceedings Surrounding the Grave
A local traditional leader, Headman Tinos Manongovere, had sought a court order to inspect the gravesite as part of efforts to argue for the exhumation of Mugabe’s remains.

However, Magistrate Kudzanai Mahaso dismissed the application, siding with Mugabe’s children. This ruling marked a significant milestone in the ongoing dispute, drawing national and international attention.

Manongovere argued that Mugabe’s burial inside his homestead contravened Zvimba cultural traditions. He contended that an inspection in loco, a legal process involving on-site visits to gather evidence, was essential to resolve the factual disagreement over whether Mugabe was buried inside a house or in compliance with cultural norms.

Objections Raised by Mugabe’s Children

The late leader’s children opposed the inspection, arguing that Manongovere’s application was procedurally flawed. They pointed out that the headman failed to submit an adequately commissioned affidavit to substantiate his claims. Magistrate Mahaso concurred, emphasizing the importance of a sworn statement to outline the case’s foundation.

Key Findings from the Court Ruling

Magistrate Mahaso highlighted several critical issues in his ruling:

  • The absence of a founding affidavit was deemed a critical procedural error, rendering the application defective.
  • An inspection in loco is not an automatic right but a matter left to the court’s discretion.
  • Previous inspections conducted in this case were limited to public sites, such as the National Heroes Acre, and did not involve private property.

Respecting Privacy and Property Rights
One of the pivotal arguments in the case revolved around property rights. The court noted that inspecting a private residence without consent would constitute trespassing. Magistrate Mahaso underlined the constitutional right to privacy, which protects individuals from unlawful interference with their homes or personal spaces.

He further stated that alternative methods, such as witness testimonies, could resolve disputes without infringing on property rights or privacy.

South Africans Express Outrage Over Policy Allowing Undocumented Foreign Nationals’ Children to Enroll in Schools Without Any Form of Identification

South Africans Express Outrage Over Policy Allowing Undocumented Foreign Nationals’ Children to Enroll in Schools Without Any Form of Identification

South Africans are expressing outrage on social media after it emerged that children of undocumented foreign nationals will not be required to provide any form of identification when registering for admission at schools in South Africa.

Undocumented Learners Granted Full Access to Education
According to IOL, the Department of Basic Education (DBE) has directed schools to admit all learners, regardless of their documentation status, for the 2025 academic year.

This includes allowing undocumented learners to register for matric examinations.

Basic Education director-general Mathanzima Mweli confirmed that the department had received reports from civil society organisations about learners being denied admission or prevented from registering for the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations due to missing documents such as identity documents, birth certificates, or asylum permits for foreign learners.

Mweli clarified that undocumented learners cannot be prevented from registering and writing the NSC examinations.

In alignment with this directive, Umalusi, the government’s education quality assurance council, also emphasized that identity documents are not mandatory for issuing NSC certificates. Mweli reiterated this, quoting Umalusi’s position:

“Whether documented or not, all registered candidates will be certified if they fulfil the qualification requirements. In short, the Identity document is not a requirement for the issuing a certificate.”

Mweli communicated this policy to heads of provincial education departments, district directors, school governing bodies, and school principals, urging them to comply fully with the directive.

Bela Act Supports Inclusive Education
The recently enacted Basic Education Laws Amendment (Bela) Act further reinforces this stance. Signed into law by President Cyril Ramaphosa in September, the Act stipulates that any learner whose parent or guardian has not provided the necessary documents must still be allowed to attend school. This ensures that no child is excluded from accessing education due to administrative barriers.

South Africans Erupt with Anger
The Department of Basic Education’s decision to allow the children of undocumented foreign nationals to enroll in schools without any identification has triggered outrage among South Africans.

South Africans are questioning why undocumented foreign national students are exempt from providing any form of identification before registering for admission at schools in South Africa.

Here are some of the reactions;

@visse_ss;

This is an absolute travesty.

No responsible country would ever open its doors to such blatant disregard for immigration laws. It undermines national security, opens the floodgates to exploitation, and leaves local children at a disadvantage.

If we continue down this path, we risk turning South Africa into a magnet for illegal immigration, creating more social issues than we can manage.

@Rabs2013;

Well expert a huge influx then. What a banana republic @MYANC is the enemy of our people.

@KeshanNaidoo3;

So South Africans have to follow long processes but foreigners are exempt 🤔. South Africans, you’re on your own

@DamnGiGi01;

Disgraceful. Meanwhile South African children must provide identification as well as that of both parents. This cannot be constitutional. 😡

@Glentanarocks;

This decision to allow children of undocumented foreigners into SA schools without ID is a slap in the face for SA parents struggling to get their kids educated. Our schools are already overcrowded and under-resourced! Time for the government to prioritize its own citizens! #EducationCrisisSA

@Lesufi they in the queue coming back from Zim now! Ready to enrol their kids next week!

Megan Thee Stallion granted 5-years restraining order against Tory Lanez

American rapper, Megan Thee Stallion has been granted a five-year restraining order against Canadian artist Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a ten-year prison sentence for assaulting her back in 2020.

The ruling comes a month after her legal team informed the court about Lanez’s continued “campaign of harassment” from behind bars.

Addressing an LA courtroom via video on Thursday, Megan Thee Stallion reportedly detailed how she continues to suffer anxiety from the attack which saw Lanez fire five bullets from a semiautomatic weapon and wound both her feet, and that this has been made worse by harassment on social media that has been encouraged by Lanez.

“I haven’t been at peace since I been shot, and I’m just trying to be un-harassed, not only by the person who shot me, but by the people he’s been paying to continue to harass me,” the three-time Grammy Award winner shared in a tearful testimony, according to Rolling Stone’s Nancy Dillon.

“I probably won’t ever have my own peace about the situation, but I just really want the harassment from the person who shot me to stop.”

“I feel like when he gets out of jail, it’s going to be worse. I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time, I won’t make it,” she said, according to Dillon.

“No matter how many people tell me I have to get past it, it just seems like I have to relive it every day. I’m not good in social situations anymore because I think everybody hates me at this point because of everything that he’s done and said about me after the shooting.”

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Richard Bloom have agreed with Megan’s testimony, stating that “with a violent act like that, there’s a ripple effect that continues on. Ms. Pete’s testimony is that the ripple effect has been significant.”

The order states that Lanez must stay at least 100 yards away from Megan, and refrain from harassing, intimidating or threatening her in any way until at least January 9, 2030.

Fury as Woman Who Lied About R@pe Against Star Gets Lenient Sentence and Avoids Jail

TV Model Who Falsely Accused Theo Hernandez of Rape Avoids Jail Sentence
A TV model who lied and falsely accused AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez of rape in 2017 has avoided jail. Luisa Kremleva received a lenient six-month suspended sentence and a £1,500 fine after admitting to fabricating the allegation against the France international.

The court in Malaga, Spain, confirmed that Kremleva struck a plea bargain deal with prosecutors, admitting her guilt to avoid a possible two-year prison sentence. She has been warned that if she reoffends in the next two years, the suspended sentence will be activated, and she will face jail time.

A Seven-Year Saga Comes to an End
The case began on June 4, 2017, when Kremleva claimed that Hernandez raped her in the back of a Porsche parked outside Marbella’s Olivia Valere nightclub. She reported to police that Hernandez pushed her out of the car after the alleged assault, causing injuries to her knees.

However, investigators quickly dismissed her allegations after reviewing CCTV footage from the car park. The video showed Kremleva falling accidentally, not being pushed. Police also obtained text messages sent by Kremleva to Hernandez hours after the alleged incident, asking him when he was coming home with her.

Sentencing judge Lourdes Sanchez Esquinas outlined the sequence of events:

“It has been proven that in the early hours of June 4, 2017, the accused Luisa T.K. was in the Olivia Valere nightclub in Marbella, where she had arranged to meet Theo H. About 4am, both left the venue with the intention of having sex. They went to the car park and had consensual sex in Theo’s friend’s car before returning to the nightclub.

“About 8am, in revenge and taking advantage of Theo’s fame, she called police telling them she had been the victim of a rape and informed them about her intention of making a formal complaint before being taken by officers to hospital for a medical examination.”

The judge further stated that Kremleva “maliciously reported” the crime and “unlawfully hid” the fact that her injuries were self-inflicted.

Public Outcry Over Lenient Sentence
The suspended sentence has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many questioning the fairness of the punishment.

Conor McGregor, MMA fighter, weighed in:

“If it had gone the other way, the sentence would have been about 10 years for the footballer. The sentences should be replicated if proven to be lies. Six months for attempting to put a person away for a large portion of their life with lies is NOT ENOUGH!”

Another Twitter user, @realni9gaa, wrote:

“If he was found guilty, he would be doing at least 10 years. Six months is ridiculously unfair. False accusations should carry a harsher punishment.”

Others echoed similar sentiments:

@Tm_gram1155: “False accusers and rapists should share the same time. Six months is too light for such a serious crime.”
@ReggieRMA: “This is absolute nonsense. A false accusation of rape can ruin lives. The punishment should reflect the severity of the false claim.”

@mohammedvld: “Only six months? She almost ruined his life.”
@DavidAdenibuyan: “Six months is small, but at least it’s a start. Let’s hope this sets a precedent.”
The Aftermath for Theo Hernandez
Theo Hernandez, who currently plays for Serie A side AC Milan, had been due to testify during Kremleva’s trial. The star footballer has continued his career despite the controversy, recently playing a pivotal role in AC Milan’s victory in the Italian Super Cup.

The ordeal has highlighted the devastating impact false accusations can have on reputations and careers. Many have called for stricter penalties to deter similar false claims in the future.

Kremleva has yet to comment on the public backlash against her sentence.

Man Sets Fire to Mother-in-Law’s Hut Before K!ll!ng Her Brutally With Machete

A Filabusi man sets his mother-in-law’s hut on fire before killing her brutally with a machete before running from authorities.

Authorities are on high alert as they search for a 28-year-old man accused of committing a brutal murder in Montrose Village.

The suspect, Newton Mthethwa, allegedly set fire to a hut while his mother-in-law was sleeping inside and attacked her with a machete when she fled the blaze.

Suspect Fled Scene After Heinous Crime
The tragic incident occurred on the evening of January 8 in Ward 13 of Insiza North, under the jurisdiction of Chief Maduna. Police report that Mthethwa escaped after fatally assaulting 48-year-old Florence Msipha.

Relatives disclosed that Mthethwa’s wife, identified only as Yvonne, had recently left him. The couple previously resided in Fairbridge, Bulawayo, but Yvonne reportedly returned to her rural home, leaving Mthethwa behind.

According to local police, Mthethwa arrived at his estranged wife’s rural residence only to find his mother-in-law, Florence, and her 13-year-old daughter asleep in a thatched bedroom hut.

Acting Matabeleland South Provincial Police Spokesman, Assistant Inspector Stanford Mguni, provided details of the horrifying event.

“The late Florence Msipha and her daughter realized their bedroom hut was on fire and managed to escape through the door. Upon exiting, they saw the suspect standing nearby, armed with a machete. He attacked Florence repeatedly, inflicting severe head injuries.”

Teen Daughter’s Quick Action Alerts Neighbors

The victim’s 13-year-old daughter managed to flee the scene and sought help from nearby residents. Neighbours immediately contacted law enforcement, but by the time police arrived, the suspect had already vanished.

Florence was rushed to Filabusi District Hospital, but sadly, she was declared dead upon arrival.

Police Appeal for Information

The motive behind the attack remains unclear as police continue their investigations. Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of Mthethwa’s whereabouts to come forward and report to the nearest police station. Assistance from the public could be crucial in ensuring justice is served.

Nicolas Maduro sworn in for third presidential term despite not being acknowledged by the West

0

Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro has been sworn in for a third presidential term despite the protests of the country’s opposition movement, and non-acknowledgement by Western powers.

The ceremony occurred on Friday, January 10 in a small room of the National Assembly, a marked difference from previous ceremonies held in the building’s main hall.

Maduro was sworn in by National Assembly leader Jorge Rodríguez, who placed the presidential sash on him, prompting thunderous applause from those in attendance.

“We’ve achieved what we knew we would achieve,” Maduro said during his first speech after being sworn in.

“The power given to me was not given by a foreign government, a foreign president or a gringo government,” Maduro said at the event, which saw Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Cuba’s Miguel Diaz-Canel in attendance.

“No one in this world can impose a president in Venezuela.”

Venezuela?s Nicolas Maduro sworn in for third presidential term despite not being acknowledged by the West

China and Russia also sent representatives, with Russia’s State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin seen arriving late on a state media broadcast after the ceremony began ahead of schedule.

Former Bolivian President Evo Morales expressed support for Maduro, writing on X that his nation “salutes the Venezuelan people who once again defeated attempts to destabilize their government.”

Maduro was proclaimed winner of the country’s presidential election on July 28, by electoral authorities under the tight control of the ruling Socialist Party but Venezuela’s opposition has published thousands of voting tallies claiming that their candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez, had actually won the vote with 67% against Maduro’s 30%.

On a call previewing the announcement, the official told reporters that Maduro, “stands mostly alone at this juncture, with few friends in the region and the world,” noting calls from countries throughout the region and across the globe “since July 28th to call on Maduro to respect democratic norms.”

The United Kingdom on Friday sanctioned 15 people associated with Maduro and what it called his “contested regime,” including leaders from Venezuela’s Armed Forces and members of the Supreme Justice Tribunal.

The European Union also issued sanctions against 15 people affiliated with Maduro, who have been accused of “undermining democracy, rule of law or human rights in Venezuela.” And Canada sanctioned 14 current and former senior officials who it said engaged in activities that “supported human rights violations” in the country.

Maduro did not name any of Venezuela’s opposition leaders in his speech but referred to the movement currently led by Maria Corina Machado and Edmundo Gonzalez as “Guaidó 2.0” — a reference to Juan Guaidó, who in 2019 proclaimed himself interim president of Venezuela and was recognized by 50 countries, including the US.

“A Guaidó 2.0 talks to the people in the streets, a new Guaidó, and comes with the same baggage, we saw it, we saw their plans, we saw them yesterday,” Maduro said, apparently referring to an opposition rally attended by Machado on Thursday.

Guaidó himself condemned the inauguration, writing on X that “the president of Venezuela is Edmundo González Urrutia.”

“Maduro only confirms his usurpation and the coup d’état they carried out on July 28,” Guaidó added.

Venezuelan opposition coalition Plataforma de la Unidad Democrática echoed Guaidó’s remarks, saying, “A new phase begins today in this fight for the freedom of Venezuela throughout the national territory and in all sectors that form our nation.”

Al B Sure Claims Kim Porter Kept Diary About Diddy’s Alleged Crimes

Kim Porter has been the subject of widespread speculation over the last few years. The late model and actress died in 2009, but her relationship with Diddy has become a topic of public fascination since the mogul was arrested. So much so, that multiple sources have come forward and claimed Porter kept a diary or journal of her experiences with Diddy. Al B Sure, Porter’s ex-husband, is the latest celebrity to make this claim.

Al B Sure appears in the upcoming Peacock documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy. During said doc, the singer discusses Diddy’s relationship with Kim Porter. He claimed that Porter kept a diary that chronicled all of the alleged crimes that Diddy committed during their time together. “What I do know is that before her death she was keeping a diary,” Al B Sure asserted. “Someone got the passcode to her phone and computer. [They] found out what [she] was writing, what was going on behind closed doors.” The singer also claims that Kim Porter confided in him during her romance with Diddy.

Al B Sure recalls being concerned about Porter’s well being. The same goes for his son, Quincy Brown, who was adopted by Diddy. “She began to confide in me,” he explained. “She said something’s not right. [Diddy’s] soul has gone completely dark like he’s just not there.” The most inflammatory thing the singer said during the documentary, though, was about Porter’s death. Al B Sure accused Diddy of killing her in an effort to conceal his list of crimes. He didn’t want Porter to “blow the lid off” his activities, the singer alleged.

The diary rumor has made the rounds on several outlets over the last year. A memoir was published via Amazon, but was subsequently taken down when it was proved to be a fake. Kim Porter’s children, which includes Quincy Brown, denied the existence of a diary or memoir in a public statement. “Claims that our mom wrote a book are simply untrue,” they said. “She did not. And anyone claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves.”

Wife Of Late TV Starn Stephen “tWitch Boss Alleges He Was A Drug Addict

Allison Holker, the widow of television personality and hip-hop dancer Stephen “tWitch” Boss, is revealing sensitive secrets about her late husband.

Following the tragic passing of beloved dancer and Ellen DeGeneres Show DJ Stephen “tWitch” Boss was described as an introverted who was said to have taken his own life at the age of 40 on December 13, 2022.

News by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner that the star’s official cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head sent the world into shock.

Despite the bizarre circumstances surrounding his death, fans still rallied behind his wife.

However, in anticipation of her upcoming tell-all memoir, Allison Holker has come under fire after alleging that her late husband was a drug addict.

Holker’s shocking revelations about her late husband have seen fans and people who were close to tWitch defending him.

According to an exclusive interview with People magazine, Holker revealed the “triggering moment” she learned that Boss had an addiction problem after his passing.

Holker said that she allegedly discovered a “cornucopia” of drugs, including mushrooms, pills, and “other substances I had to look up on my phone,” hidden in her late husband’s closet while cleaning out a closet and picking out an outfit for his funeral.

She went on to explain that.
“He was wrestling with a lot inside himself, and he was trying to self-medicate and cope with all those feelings because he didn’t want to put it on anyone because he loved everyone so much.”

Allison went on to detail more about her husband’s past in her writings, noting that “he went through a lot as a child and never faced it.”

She stated that she was aware he would smoke marijuana in their guest house after their kids went to sleep.

Boss’s wife also claims her late husband alluded to being sexually abused as a child by a male figure in one of his journal entries.

“It’s hard to think that he never opened up to someone and wanted to face it, to get through on the other side,” Holker shared.

“I really hope people dealing with the same thing will help themselves out of the shadows and [know] you’re going to be OK.”

MFUWE PATRIOTIC FRONT LAWMAKER MAUREEN MABONGA HAS DENIED UTTERING SEDITIOUS WORDS, ARGUING THAT SHE WAS ONLY ALERTING LAW ENFORCERS ABOUT SOME THREATS MADE BY UPND CADRES

MFUWE PATRIOTIC FRONT LAWMAKER MAUREEN MABONGA HAS DENIED UTTERING SEDITIOUS WORDS, ARGUING THAT SHE WAS ONLY ALERTING LAW ENFORCERS ABOUT SOME THREATS MADE BY UPND CADRES

Ms Hon. Maureen Mabonga- Mfuwe Constituency  said the utterances she made were meant to alert authorities about other criminal elements that were happening.

“The words I uttered are not seditious and I didn’t intend to promote I’ll will. I intended to bring all these issues to the attention of the authorities and the law enforcement agencies and the nation,” she said.

This is in a matter the Patriotic Front (PF) lawmaker was found with a case to answer in two counts of seditious practices after she allegedly incited civil unrest between May 25 and 28, 2024.

She is further alleged to have uttered statements that could be construed as inciting violence against a specific ethnic group.

Mabonga uttered the words after fugitive Petauke lawmaker Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda was purportedly abducted.

The accused denied the allegations but after several witnesses testified against her, Lusaka resident magistrate Trevor Kasanda found her with a case to answer and placed her on defence last October.

To consolidate her defence, the accused applied to tender a Facebook video evidence in which suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) carders were heard warning to deal with PF.
The alleged cadres also allegedly threatened injury former President Edgar Lungu by saying they would circumcize him.

Magistrate Trevor Kasanda granted the accused’s application to tender the clip as evidence.

She later told the court that the ruling party cadres threatened Mr Lungu using harsh words.

“He was told that he will be circumcised. The cadres said demeaning words towards PF. Jean Chisenga my fellow MP was burnt, Jay Jay Banda went missing and we decided to talk about it”.
She said it was agreed that a press conference would be held to discuss Mr Banda’s disappearance and other issues.

“It was at that press briefing where I spoke and that’s why am here today”.
Defence lawyer Norman Siwila then asked her to comment over allegations in the first count.

“I was responding to the threats that were issued by the cadres, the UPND cadres those from Western and Southern province.

“I said at the press briefing that ‘You can kill me but you cannot finish the Bembas and Easterners…”

“What I meant here is that we were being threatened, as for me, I wanted to bring these issues to the attention of the nation, authority so that these issues can come to conclusion”.

She denied allegations that the words were seditious and meant to incite violence.

“I didn’t intend to promote any violence. Am also a mother and a wife and there is no way I can promote violence or even incite people to fight”.

ECZ BECOMING AN HINDRANCE TO DEMOCRACY  – KALABA

ECZ BECOMING AN HINDRANCE TO DEMOCRACY  – KALABA

…says the ECZ is full of UPND cadres and needs to be disbanded.

LUSAKA, FRIDAY, JANUARY, 10, 2025 [SMART EAGLES]

Citizens First President Harry Kalaba  says the Electoral Commission of Zambia- ECZ, is becoming an hindrance to the democratic dispensation of Zambia.

Speaking when he featured on the ‘Let the People Talk’ Program on Radio Phoenix today, Mr. Kalaba said the ECZ needs to be disbanded because it is full of UPND cadres.

He said the ECZ has an  interest in political parties issues and are trying to use them to their advantage.

He adds that ECZ commissioner, McDonald Chipenzi did not want the Citizens First party to file in Pambashe constituency in Kawambwa because he saw the crowds that came to support the party.

” We feel we have been mistreated by ECZ, and we have filed in a petition against ECZ because they are disenfranchising opposition political and we are going to defend the constitution of this country, ” Mr. Kalaba said.

” If ECZ  continues on this trajectory of disadvantaging opposition political parties they will bring problems in this country. ECZ is infested with UPND cadres and needs to be disbanded because it is the worst composition this country has ever had,” Mr. Kalaba said.

And Mr. Kalaba said Zambia is heading towards an emotive period and ECZ should not bring rules that do not exist.

” Its not the business of ECZ to bring rules that do not exist and they are playing politics of disturbing opposition political parties and in Pambashe constituency Chipenzi was not on the side of the law and this has exposed ECZ,” Mr. Kalaba said.

“Next time we will not fall into the traps of ECZ and ECZ should know that this an emotive period and we need to respect each other. We have petitioned ECZ because we dont need this to happen any political party,” the CF leader said.

AM GOING TO PETAUKE TO HELP ENHANCE DEMOCRACY- BINWELL MPUNDU

AM GOING TO PETAUKE TO HELP ENHANCE DEMOCRACY.

I have started a tour of my constituency starting with a  meeting with the CDF committee agreeing on what the CDF allocations for 2025 will be distributed.
I’m heading to petauke after am done with this tour, fully aware of the evil plans that when I step into Petauke the merchants of death will come and cause confusion in the areas I will be so that they can the accuse me of causing the violence and accuse me of non bailable offences as they have done to Hon Mrs Mumbi Phiri.

This plan was also supposed to be executed when I attended the late Dandy’s funeral but I was fully aware as you may be aware that tebonse batupata we also have friends and allies within our competitor’ camps.

This is the only time in my 20 years in politics that politicians are more focused on eliminating opponents by either killing them, harming them,or imprisoning them as opposed to the practice of silencing your opponents with your deliverables.I have too many people advising me to watch my movements, watch what i eat and be careful with my phones …and am always wondering how we got here because these things only happen in a fully blown dictatorship…ARE WE ALREADY THERE ?am wondering how we got here.

Colleagues politics is a competition of ideas on how to govern people. You don’t focus on fixing people but fixing problems.Fixing problems earns you the respect and support you need to stay in power for as long as you need, but fixing opponents make you hated and no matter how power you may think you are they will kick you one day or naturally death will knock you out and your families will live to bear the weight of your evils.

Ine am only a young man who wishes to contribute to the prosperity of our country and I have done so by helping those in power to see where they are going wrong but because they are deaf my other mission is to tell people to make a decision because when a government cannot change your lives there remains no option but to remove that government.(Quote from President HH).

Let me finally say that am going to petauke even if I don’t agree with the choice of candidates by the opposition whom am going to join hands with to give those planning evil on me the chance to execute their planned scheme so that they can lock me up for good.I wish to assure you that am ready and the beauty is that even my family is ready .We will not be intimidated nor silenced from exercising our rights to contribute to the wellbeing of our country and for all those who are being recruited and being used to commit these crimes ,just know that your time to answer for your crimes will surely come .TIME SETTLES ALL MATTERS.

Let us meet in petauke so that we can campaign for our preferred candidates in peace because that is what democracy entails or dictates.

Zambia is our country and we all have a duty to safeguard its peace and democracy is what guarantees that peace and therefore we must all abide by the tenets of democracy and therefore peaceful campaigns and free and fair elections are a pre-requisit for the enhancement of democracy.

May the best candidates Win the petauke Seat.

QUALITY OF BANK NOTES: Please urgently address this notes dilemma- Fred M’membe

QUALITY OF BANK NOTES

There is currently a public outcry on the deteriorating quality of lower denomination notes to the extent that some businesses have stopped accepting these notes.

Currency printing is a very expensive exercise. Given the loss of purchasing power in our currency eroded by imported inflation due to the deteriorating Kwacha/ dollar exchange, it requires a re-think.

The velocity of lower denomination notes (speed at which these notes exchange hands) is very high in lower denomination notes. Market prices, for example, hover in the K2 to K50 range. This means that the frequency at which the lower denomination notes exchange hands has increased and consequently the poor quality of notes.

The Bank of Zambia should immediately take action whilst paying attention to the costs of the implications of currency printing.

We propose that the Bank of Zambia introduces K1, K2, K5, and K10 coins, which are more durable than notes. Equally remove Ngwee coins from circulation as they are valueless. All pricing should move to Kwacha only. For example, instead of pricing at K20.80 for an item, the same can just be priced at K21. In any event, currently, most people just leave the ngwee coins on shop teller counters as they have no value.

Also, the Bank of Zambia should introduce K200 notes targeted at ATM withdrawals. This way, people can withdraw meaningful amounts at the ATM than currently is the case. As I speak, a number of ATMs are out of currency and out of order as a result because they empty quicker with the highest denomination of K100. This will also minimise ATM re-stocking costs for banks who outsource ATM cash re-stocking to security companies.

Surely, this is a simple and straightforward matter that does not require rocket science.

The Bank of Zambia has currency models that help them assess currency velocity and assist with determining the need for the introduction of higher denominated notes. Others may argue that this will increase inflation, but the question is: how?

In UAE, the highest denomination is 1,000, in South Africa it’s R200, Euros it’s 500, and so on and so forth.

Come on, let’s stop inconveniencing over burdened citizens and act now. If you recall, we did propose to the Bank of Zambia to introduce a facility to support businesses against the effects of load shedding and drought. Again, they procrastinated for a long time before adopting what we had proposed.

Please urgently address this notes dilemma. Actually, do it now so that there is no currency printing in an election year. Note that UPND was the loudest in 2021, accusing PF of changing BoZ Governors to print election money. We don’t want a repeat of this in 2026.

ACT NOW IS OUR CALL!

Proposal for Enhancing the Sustainability of Zambia’s National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) through Diversified Funding Sources and Private Sector Cost Controls

Proposal for Enhancing the Sustainability of Zambia’s National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) through Diversified Funding Sources and Private Sector Cost Controls

By Dr. Mpuma Kamanga

Background and Problem Statement

The National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) currently faces significant financial distress due to unsustainable expenditure patterns. Monthly contributions collected amount to approximately ZMW 100 million, while monthly hospital claims paid out total ZMW 160 million. This mismatch is unsustainable and threatens the viability of the scheme.

A deeper analysis reveals that over 70% of these claims are driven by private sector facilities, which charge higher fees than public health facilities. Additionally, the current contribution rates — a 2% deduction from the formal sector and a flat ZMW 50 per month from the informal sector — are inadequate to cover escalating costs. These issues necessitate urgent reforms to ensure the sustainability of NHIMA.

Proposal for Reforms
To address these challenges, the following measures are proposed:

1. Diversification of Funding Sources
NHIMA should diversify its revenue base by tapping into additional sources of funding beyond the formal and informal sector contributions. Below are proposed sources:

Proposed Funding Source Rationale

Mobile Money Transactions Levy a small percentage on mobile money transfers to capture contributions from the informal sector.

Remittances Apply a health levy on international remittances received by individuals.

Gambling and Betting Introduce a health tax on lottery and gambling winnings.

Value Added Tax (VAT) Dedicate a percentage of VAT collections towards the NHIS.

Car Insurance and Road Tax Introduce a health levy on motor vehicle insurance and road tax payments.

Mining and Extractive Industry Establish a health levy on mining revenues, given the industry’s significant contribution to the economy.

Food Reserve Agency (FRA) Sales Allocate a portion of proceeds from FRA grain sales to NHIMA.

Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Allocate a portion of the CDF for health insurance, ensuring equity in health financing.

Expected Impact:

Diversifying funding sources will reduce the burden on formal and informal sector contributions, ensuring more sustainable revenue streams for NHIMA. This approach will also align with Zambia’s broader goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by engaging multiple sectors in health financing.

2. Introduction of Co-Payments and limits for Private Sector Facility Use

To reduce the financial strain from private sector claims, the following policy changes are proposed:

Outpatient Department (OPD) Visits in Private Sector:

After the first four visits per year to a private sector facility, beneficiaries should be required to pay 20% co-payment of the bill.

Objective: Encourage beneficiaries to use public health facilities, which are more cost-effective, thereby reducing NHIMA’s expenditure.

Public Sector Services:
NHIMA should continue to cover 100% of the costs for beneficiaries using public health facilities to incentivize the use of public services and reduce the claims burden from private providers.

Expected Impact:
This measure will reduce NHIMA’s expenditure on private sector claims by encouraging beneficiaries to seek care in public health facilities. Additionally, the introduction of co-payments will deter unnecessary utilization of private health services, thus promoting cost-effective care-seeking behavior.

3. Adjusting Contribution Rates

To further ensure financial sustainability, NHIMA should revise its contribution rates:

Formal Sector: Maintain the 2% deduction but introduce tiered contribution levels based on income brackets, ensuring higher earners contribute more.

Informal Sector: The ZMW 50 monthly contribution is insufficient. Introduce tiered contributions based on income levels, ranging from ZMW 50 to ZMW 200, depending on the individual’s capacity to pay.

Expected Impact:
Adjusting contribution rates will increase revenue collections without overburdening any specific income group. The tiered system will ensure that contributions are fair and proportionate to earnings.

Projected Financial Impact of Proposed Reforms:
The proposed reforms are expected to have the following financial impact on NHIMA:

Measure Projected Monthly Revenue (ZMW)

Mobile Money Transactions 30 million

Remittances 15 million

Gambling and Betting 10 million

VAT Allocation 40 million

Car Insurance/Road Tax Levy 20 million

Mining and Extractive Industry Levy 25 million

FRA Sales Allocation 10 million

CDF Allocation 10 million

Total Additional Revenue 160 million

These additional revenue streams could potentially double NHIMA’s current monthly revenue, ensuring financial sustainability.

Conclusion:
The sustainability of Zambia’s National Health Insurance Scheme is at risk due to the current imbalance between revenue collection and expenditure. To address this, NHIMA must diversify its funding sources and implement cost controls on private sector claims.

By introducing new revenue streams and co-payments for private sector visits, NHIMA can reduce its financial distress and continue to provide comprehensive health coverage to Zambians. These reforms will also help achieve the government’s broader goal of Universal Health Coverage, ensuring that all citizens have access to quality healthcare without facing financial hardship.

Recommendations for Implementation:

Conduct stakeholder consultations to gather input and secure buy-in for proposed reforms.

Develop legislation and revise SI 63 of 2019 to facilitate the introduction of new health levies and taxes.

Launch public awareness campaigns to educate beneficiaries on the changes and their benefits.

Establish monitoring mechanisms to track the financial impact of the reforms and adjust as necessary.

With these reforms, NHIMA can transition from a financially distressed scheme to a sustainable and resilient health insurance system that supports Zambia’s health sector and promotes equity in healthcare financing.

For How Long Will the Constitutional Court Be Used to Drive President Hakainde Hichilema’s Agenda?- Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

For How Long Will the Constitutional Court Be Used to Drive President Hakainde Hichilema’s Agenda?

By Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

The Zambian Constitutional Court was established to be a guardian of justice, ensuring the Constitution stands above political influence and personal ambition. Unfortunately, under the United Party for National Development (UPND) government, this noble vision is crumbling. Increasingly, the Court appears to function as a weapon of political engineering, manipulated to protect and advance President Hakainde Hichilema’s grip on power. This dangerous erosion of judicial independence is a threat not just to the integrity of Zambia’s legal system, but to the very survival of democracy itself. How much longer will this misuse of judicial authority continue before irreversible damage is done?

The Eligibility Case: Judicial Integrity in Tatters

The Constitutional Court’s integrity came under intense scrutiny when it inexplicably revisited the eligibility of former President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, despite having already ruled on the issue four times. Each ruling affirmed that Dr. Lungu was constitutionally eligible to contest future elections. Yet, without introducing any new legal basis or compelling evidence, the court overturned its previous decisions and declared him ineligible to run in 2026.

This blatant reversal did more than contradict legal precedent—it exposed the court’s troubling willingness to bend to political pressure. President Hichilema’s effusive praise of the ruling as “the best judgement ever” only confirmed the political nature of the outcome. The question that lingers is simple: How can a judgment that undermines its own foundations be celebrated as a victory for justice? It cannot—unless justice has been replaced by political expediency.

Cabinet Ministers Case: A Dangerous Precedent of Reversal

If the eligibility case raised alarms, the Constitutional Court’s decision to entertain yet another politically charged petition only deepens concerns. In 2016, the court boldly ruled that PF Cabinet and Provincial Ministers remained in office illegally after Parliament was dissolved. The judgment, hailed as a victory for constitutionalism, required these ministers to repay the salaries they wrongfully earned.

Now, under a cloud of political influence, the same court is poised to revisit this landmark ruling. The petition brought forward by Lusaka lawyer Miza Phiri Jr. challenges the court’s previous interpretation of Articles 29 and 30 of the Constitution. As with t
Dr Lungu’s eligibility case, this maneuver appears to follow a familiar playbook: use a legal petitioner to orchestrate a predetermined reversal. The real intent is transparent—to whitewash inconvenient decisions and align the court’s rulings with UPND interests.

Should the court succumb, it will deliver another self-inflicted wound, confirming that its role has shifted from arbiter of justice to enforcer of political will. Judicial credibility will be damaged beyond repair, and the rule of law will suffer yet another grave setback.

Executive Overreach and the Collapse of Justice

The manipulation of the Constitutional Court is emblematic of a broader trend: the creeping encroachment of executive power over state institutions. When the judiciary no longer serves as a check on political authority, democracy becomes a hollow shell. Today, it is Dr. Lungu’s eligibility. Tomorrow, it could be a ruling that extends presidential term limits or erodes electoral freedoms. The machinery of authoritarianism begins with the subversion of law, and Zambia is dangerously close to that precipice.

Cry, My Beloved Zambia

The systematic use of the judiciary to advance political agendas marks a betrayal of the Zambian people’s trust. The courts must remain independent arbiters of justice, not tools for partisan retribution or personal gain. The eligibility debacle and the looming reversal of the Cabinet Ministers decision should sound a national alarm. This is no longer a question of PF versus UPND—it is a question of whether Zambia will remain a free and democratic nation.

When courts lose their independence, democracy crumbles. Free expression is silenced, dissent is criminalized, and corruption runs rampant. Judicial manipulation is not just a legal travesty—it is a gateway to tyranny.

A Leader Obsessed with Power

President Hichilema ascended to office promising transparency, justice, and democratic reform. Yet, his administration’s actions reveal an unsettling reality: the systematic targeting of political opponents, suppression of dissent, and subjugation of the judiciary. Far from the reformer he pledged to be, Hichilema now appears as a leader intent on consolidating his hold on power at all costs. The Constitutional Court, once a pillar of hope, has been reduced to a mechanism for political domination.

This is not a partisan critique—it is a call to defend democracy itself. If Zambians allow the courts to be commandeered, the erosion of civil liberties and democratic norms will soon follow.

Conclusion

Zambians must rise to the occasion and demand an independent judiciary. The Constitutional Court must be reminded of its sacred duty to the law and the people—not the whims of those in power. The longer this abuse persists, the harder it will be to restore the rule of law and public confidence in the justice system.

Our democracy stands at a crossroads. The survival of our freedoms depends on collective courage and the resolve to speak truth to power. Let this not be the moment in history where justice surrendered to political ambition. Let it be the turning point where Zambians reclaimed their democracy and reminded the Constitutional Court of its true mandate: to uphold justice, not serve political agendas.

Mumbi Phiri starts another long stay in jail

Mumbi Phiri starts another long stay in jail

IT seems a tune of jail has been played and former PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri is dancing to it once more as police confirmed a docket of aggravated robbery has been opened against her.

This means Phiri will be behind bars for a long time before the cases dealt with by the Courts as the offence which she has been pinned down for is non bailable.

This arrest comes barely two years after the State entered a nolle prosequi, freeing the boisterous PF official from her one year stay in prison on allegations that she was behind the murder of a UPND supporter, Lawrence Banda in 2019.

“Police in Kawambwa have today January 9, 2025 formally charged and arrested Mrs. Mumbi Phiri, aged 55, for the offence of Aggravated Robbery, contrary to Section 294(1) of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia,” said police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga.

Yesterday Hamoonga announced Phiri’s detention over the aggravated robbery that happened in Kawambwa, Luapula Province last month where she and her colleages believed to be from the Tonse Alliance are alleged to have stolen a UPND supporter’s phone and cash worth K20,000.

28 year old Boldwin Chilambikwa reported that his Infinix cellphone, valued at K3,800, and cash amounting to K20,000 were stolen by a male suspect identified only as Peter, who was allegedly following the instructions of Mumbi Phiri.

According to police reports the aggravated robbery incident happened when the PF official led a group from the Tonse Alliance to Chisheta Primary School in Kawambwa District accusing the victim and UPND officials of election malpractice.

Following investigations, Phiri was arrested after police found out that she was involved in the act which she reportedly involved others.

“On the material date, the complainant was in the company of the Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Honourable Mike Mposha MP and other UPND cadres checking on their members when they were confronted by a team from the Tonse Alliance, led by Mumbi Phiri,” Hamoonga earlier stated.

“The confrontation arose from allegations by Mumbi Phiri that the UPND team was collecting voter’s cards from members of the public in collaboration with the ECZ. Amid the confusion, another suspect Peter, other names not known, attacked the complainant with a Taser gun, causing him to fall to the ground. While incapacitated, the suspect grabbed the complainant’s cellphone and the cash, which had been provided by the Honourable Minister for fuel.”

Hamoonga disclosed that Mumbi Phiri is currently detained at Kawambwa Police Station and is awaiting her court appearance.

Meanwhile, the police spokesperson said Investigations are ongoing to apprehend her accomplice, identified only as Peter, and other individuals involved in this case.
