Japan Talked Big on Taiwan. China Hit Back. And Now Tokyo Is Begging for a Reset

🇯🇵🔥 Japan Talked Big on Taiwan. China Hit Back. And Now Tokyo Is Begging for a Reset

Tokyo is in full damage-control mode this week after PM Sanae Takaichi’s loose-lipped Taiwan comments triggered a diplomatic storm with China and now Japan is trying desperately to put the genie back in the bottle.

🇯🇵 What Started It?
Takaichi publicly said a Chinese move on Taiwan “threatening Japan’s survival” could trigger a Japanese military response.

That’s something previous governments avoided saying out loud because… well… provoking the world’s second-largest economy isn’t exactly smart diplomacy.

🇨🇳 China’s Response?
Predictable and Measured.
Beijing issued a travel warning for Japan, reminded Tokyo to stop stirring up the Taiwan issue and summoned Japan’s ambassador for the first time in 2+ years.

Chinese media also called out Takaichi’s “strategic recklessness”, which, frankly, is a polite way of saying “What were you thinking?”

🇯🇵 Japan Backpedals
Japan’s Foreign Ministry is now rushing a senior official to Beijing to explain that Takaichi’s remarks don’t represent a shift in policy.

Translation: “Please don’t tank our economy, we need your tourists.”

🇨🇳🇯🇵 Tourism Panic Has Begun
Stocks tied to tourism and retail tanked:
• Isetan Mitsukoshi: –10%
• Japan Airlines: –4.4%
Economists warn that if Chinese visitor numbers drop like they did in 2012 (–25%), Japan could lose over half its annual growth.

That’s the price of reckless rhetoric.

🇹🇼 Taiwan Plays Along
Taiwan’s Lai Ching-te accused China of a “multifaceted attack” on Japan, which is interesting, given Japan’s comments are the whole reason the drama started.

🇨🇳 Context Matters
Japan is home to the biggest concentration of US military assets outside America.

It’s also the country being nudged (again) into frontline status by Washington’s “major power competition” agenda.

And yes… the nukes were American.

🇺🇸 Of Course the US Ambassador Jumps In
The US ambassador in Tokyo weighed in, attacking China’s consul general online.
Because nothing says “regional stability” like Washington adding kerosene to a fire.

Japan provoked, China responded, the US piled on… and now Tokyo is scrambling to calm it all down before its economy pays the price.

This is what happens when leaders talk tough for domestic points without thinking about geopolitics or economics.

The question now:
Does Japan keep walking this tightrope, or does its new PM learn that poking China over Taiwan comes with consequences?

Ray J Countersues Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner, Says They Broke $6M Settlement

Ray J has hit back at Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner with a countersuit, accusing them of breaking a $6 million settlement and using the legal system for publicity rather than addressing any real defamation. He is seeking damages and wants their defamation case dismissed.

In his November 13 filing, Ray J, also known as William Ray Norwood Jr., denied all defamation claims made by Kardashian and Jenner. He called their lawsuit “a public relations charade” and said it was about “publicity, power, and punishment” rather than any real harm. Ray J claims they are upset he “no longer wants to play along with their tall tale,” according to People.

The dispute revolves around a sex tape recorded in 2003. Ray J says the tape was consensual and that he and Kardashian discussed releasing it in 2006, with Jenner overseeing the process. Licensing agreements with Vivid Entertainment led to the tape’s release in 2007, and Ray J claims Kardashian and Jenner staged fake lawsuits and leaked a false $5 million settlement to generate attention.

Ray J’s filing also targets Kardashian’s Hulu series, The Kardashians. He alleges that in 2022, Kardashian, Jenner, Kendall Jenner, and Ye (Kanye West) made false statements on the show, including claims of sexual assault and extortion. Ray J says he confronted Kardashian online but refused to join another “false story” about removing the tape from the internet.

The 2023 settlement allegedly required Kardashian and Jenner to pay $6 million and avoid further public references to the tape. Ray J claims they violated this agreement during the show’s third season, prompting his countersuit for breach of contract. He is seeking $1 million in damages, plus interest, attorney fees, and any additional relief deemed proper.

Kardashian and Jenner originally sued Ray J in October over comments he made on TMZ and Twitch comparing their actions to RICO charges. Ray J maintains his remarks were either off-camera or minor and excused by their own breaches. Their lawyer dismissed the countersuit as “disjointed” and predicted Ray J would lose.

Her next post read:

In the latest update, she accused him of trying to take down her Instagram page:

“And why exactly are you trying to take my Instagram down? You always wanted it down if it wasn’t promoting you. That’s why you made me deactivate my Instagram the last time. Thank God for this my coconut head sha. How do I say ‘leave me alone’ in Arab if it’s that one you understand?”

Nicki Minaj to address UN on alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria today

Popular American rapper, Nicki Minaj is set to speak at a United Nations event in New York on Tuesday, November 18, over the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria.

The mother of one will appear alongside the United States ambassador to the UN, Michael Waltz, and Alex Bruesewitz, an adviser to US President Donald Trump and the convener of the event.

They are expected to shed more light on the persecution of Christians in Nigeria and the efforts being taken by President Donald Trump to address the problem

Ahead of the event, the Trump administration heaped praise on Nicki Minaj for using her platform to create awareness about the alleged atrocities Christians in Nigeria are facing, which both the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria have described as a genocide.

“@NICKIMINAJ is not only arguably the greatest female recording artist, but also a principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice,” Mr Waltz said. “I’m grateful she’s leveraging her massive platform to spotlight the atrocities against Christians in Nigeria, and I look forward to standing with her as we discuss the steps the President and his administration are taking to end the persecution of our Christian brothers and sisters.”

Responding to Waltz’s comments, Minaj thanked the Trump administration for giving her an opportunity to address the UN about the situation in Nigeria.

“I am so grateful to be entrusted with an opportunity of this magnitude. I do not take it for granted. It means more than you know,” the rapper said. “The Barbz (her fans) & I will never stand down in the face of injustice. We’ve been given our influence by God. There must be a bigger purpose.”

Paris Hilton breaks her silence on claims Ghislaine Maxwell tried to recruit her for Jeffrey Epstein

Famous heiress, Paris Hilton, has addressed reports that Ghislaine Maxwell tried to recruit her for Jeffrey Epstein after it was claimed she thought the heiress would be ‘perfect for him’.

Hilton, now 44, was just 19 when she was spotted by Maxwell at a party, who reportedly told friends she had set her sights on the teen for Epstein.

Maxwell, who dated notorious s£x offender Epstein for several years in , was said to be scouring parties looking for girls who would date Epstein.

She was later convicted and sentenced for her role as Epstein’s ‘chief recruiter’ and a partner in his s£x trafficking operation.

However, despite Maxwell’s alleged intentions for Hilton, the mother of two has insisted that she ‘doesn’t remember ever meeting her’.

During a new interview in the Sunday Times magazine, Paris claimed: ‘I don’t even remember ever meeting her’.

Hilton then reflected that she may have been dragged into the media storm at the time because of the weight her name carries, adding: ‘I’m such a good clickbait name.’

The claims about Maxwell’s plans for Hilton were made by a former friend of the British socialite in 2020.

Christopher Mason said Maxwell stopped in her tracks and said ‘oh my god’ when she saw a young Hilton at a party.

Maxwell said she would be ‘perfect for Jeffrey’ and told a friend: ‘Can you introduce us?’

Mason, a British journalist based in New York who has known Maxwell since the 1980s, did not give a date for the encounter. But it appears to have been around the year 2000 when Hilton signed up to Donald Trump’s modeling agency, T Management.

US govt to designate Venezuelan Cartel as a Foreign Terrorist Organization

The United States will designate Cartel de los Soles, which the US alleges is led by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and other high-ranking officials, as a foreign terrorist organization this month, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced Sunday, November 16.

“Neither Maduro nor his cronies represent Venezuela’s legitimate government,” the State Department said in a press release.

“Cartel de los Soles by and with other designated FTOs including Tren de Aragua and the Sinaloa Cartel are responsible for terrorist violence throughout our hemisphere as well as for trafficking drugs into the United States and Europe.”

The designation, which will be effective November 24, comes as the United States has ramped up its military presence in the Caribbean, including with the arrival of the world’s largest aircraft carrier on Sunday.

Tensions have risen between US President Donald Trump and Maduro as US forces target alleged drug-trafficking operations, with the US conducting its 21st known strike against an alleged drug boat over the weekend.

Trump suggested on Sunday that designating Cartel de los Soles as a foreign terrorist organization allows the US military the ability to target Maduro’s assets and infrastructure inside Venezuela.

“It allows us to do that, but we haven’t said we’re going to do that,” Trump told reporters. “We may be having some discussions with Maduro, and we’ll see how that turns out.”

“They would like to talk,” he said, without elaborating further.

While Trump signaled on Friday that he had made a decision on military actions regarding Venezuela, he was noncommittal on Sunday.

Trump also said he doesn’t believe the administration needs congressional authorization for potential military actions inside Venezuela.

Rather, the president said he would like to keep lawmakers informed without a say.

“We like to keep Congress involved. I mean, we’re stopping drug dealers and drugs from coming into our country. … We don’t have to get their approval. But I think letting them know is good,” he said.

Some experts have reported skepticism on the legality of the boat strikes, as the United States has not declared war against Venezuela. The terrorist organization designation authorizes a US president to impose sanctions but doesn’t explicitly authorize the use of lethal force.

However, the foreign terrorist organization designation is one of the State Department’s most serious counterterrorism designations. It is illegal for US persons to knowingly provide “material support or resources” to a designated foreign terrorist organization, and representatives and members of one are blocked from entering the US.

Congress has seven days to review the foreign terrorist organization designation after being notified, and “in the absence of Congressional action to block the designation,” it then takes effect, according to the State Department.

Earlier this year, Rubio said the foreign terrorist organization designation gave the United States the right to “target these groups.”

“We have to start treating them as armed terrorist organizations, not simply drug-dealing organizations. Drug dealing is the kind of terrorism they’re doing, and it’s not the only,” Rubio said.

The State Department’s announcement comes after the US Treasury Department sanctioned Cartel de los Soles in July, deeming it a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” organization and alleging it “provided material support to Tren de Aragua and the Sinaloa Cartel.”

According to the Treasury, “The cartel’s name is derived from the sun insignias often portrayed on the uniforms of Venezuelan military officials.”

In August, Attorney General Pam Bondi put out a $50 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Maduro to face US drug charges. She has not presented conclusive evidence of the Venezuelan leader’s alleged role in international drug trafficking. Caracas has flatly rejected the claims.

President Trump concedes defeat as he orders House Republicans to release Epstein files

U.S. President Donald Trump has insisted that he has ‘nothing to hide’ as he ordered House Republicans to vote for the release of files on Jeffrey Epstein.

In a Truth Social post Sunday evening, he called the issue a “Democrat Hoax” intended to “deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party.”

President Donald Trump has ordered the House Republicans to vote to release the files in the Jeffrey Epstein case.

In a Truth Social post Sunday evening, he called the issue a “Democrat Hoax” as he insisted that he has ‘nothing to hide.’

“We have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party,” Trump wrote on social media late Sunday after landing at Joint Base Andrews following a weekend in Florida.

‘If Jeffrey Epstein had any dirt on Donald Trump, he would have had great leverage in the criminal case against him at the time he died,’ wrote David Schoen, in a post Trump also shared on Truth Social.

‘The fact that he unequivocally said he had none ought to shut down the false claims otherwise; but facts are no obstacle to political attacks.’

Schoen, who also served as a lawyer for Trump during his second impeachment trial, pointed out that Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre testified under oath that Trump ‘did nothing inappropriate.’

However, before Sunday, Trump had been waging war against Republican defectors like Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie, who support releasing the files.

He made the shocking U turn shortly after landing at Joint Base Andrews on Sunday following a weekend in Florida. Trump claimed he had ‘nothing to hide’ while insisting the entire saga was a ‘hoax.’

‘We have nothing to hide, and it´s time to move on from this

Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party.’

Trump noted that his Department of Justice have already turned over tens of thousands of pages on Epstein. He hinted that the files could potentially damage Democrat enemies like Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, and Reid Hoffman.

He wrote: ‘The House Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally entitled to, I DON’T CARE!’

‘Nobody cared about Jeffrey Epstein when he was alive and, if the Democrats had anything, they would have released it before our Landslide Election Victory,’ he said.

‘Some ‘members’ of the Republican Party are being ‘used,’ and we can’t let that happen. Let’s start talking about the Republican Party’s Record Setting Achievements, and not fall into the Epstein ‘TRAP,’ which is actually a curse on the Democrats, not us. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!’

Trump later confirmed he still believed it was a hoax, writing: ‘It’s a Democrat Hoax for purposes of deflection, just like the Russia, Russia, Russia Scam!!! They had the sleazy relationships with Epstein, and should be prosecuted!!!’

He also took another shot at Greene, continuing their weekend-long feud over the Georgia Congresswoman’s recent split from Trump on various issues.

‘Wacky Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown (Remember, Green turns to Brown where there is ROT involved!) is working overtime to try and portray herself as a victim when, in actuality, she is the cause of all of her own problems. The fact is, nobody cares about this Traitor to our Country!’

‘I don’t even sleep good after being with a woman I don’t see a future with’ – Rapper The Game

Rapper The Game has opened up about how casual intimacy hits differently now that he’s in his 40s.

Speaking on the Den of Kings podcast, he explained that in his 20s and 30s, everything felt like a simple exchange — no emotions, no expectations. According to him, both parties were young, busy, and focused on life ahead, so it was easy to move on.

But things changed with age.

The Game said that once he hit his 40s, he started feeling like he was womanizing, especially when dealing with women who already had emotional histories and past trauma. He admitted that the guilt follows him home.

He revealed that he sometimes loses sleep after being intimate with a woman he knows he has no real intentions with — especially when she’s in her mid or late 30s and clearly investing emotionally, even if just a little.

He said dinner is cool, going out is cool, but once intimacy enters the picture and he knows he won’t be talking to her the next day, he carries the weight of it.

According to him, these feelings never existed when he was younger — but now they hit hard.

He added that men rarely talk about this kind of emotional conflict among themselves. Even when they feel guilty for taking advantage of someone’s emotions, they bottle it up because their friends are dealing with the same thing but no one is actually discussing it.

Instead, they just greet each other like everything is fine.

Ecuadoran voters have rejected a proposal to allow the return of United States military

0

Ecuadoran voters have overwhelmingly rejected a proposal to allow the return of United States military bases to the country, delivering a major political setback to President Daniel Noboa. With around 75 percent of ballots counted, about 60 percent voted against lifting the longstanding ban on foreign military bases.

The outcome blocks any possibility of the US military returning to the Manta airbase on the Pacific coast, which previously served as a key hub for Washington’s anti-drug operations. The vote also represents a serious defeat for Noboa, who has aligned closely with US President Donald Trump and pushed for deeper security cooperation amid escalating cartel violence.

The referendum was held as the United States continued controversial airstrikes on alleged drug-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean and Pacific, a policy Noboa has endorsed. Nearly 14 million Ecuadorans were eligible to vote on overturning the 2008 ban, along with three additional proposals concerning public funding for political parties, reducing the number of lawmakers, and creating an elected body to draft a new constitution. Early tallies showed all measures being rejected.

“We respect the will of the Ecuadoran people,” Noboa said, conceding defeat. The president had hoped a new constitution would expand his powers to confront rising crime, overhaul the judiciary and pursue economic reforms.

The result is unexpected, as polls had suggested Noboa would win on all four questions. Although recently re-elected and still popular, the vote signals growing frustration as the country struggles with unprecedented levels of violence linked to drug trafficking gangs. In the first half of the year, Ecuador recorded 4,619 murders, the highest in recent history.

As voting began, Noboa announced the arrest of “Pipo,” the fugitive leader of the Los Lobos cartel, who had allegedly faked his death and fled to Europe. Despite high-profile security crackdowns, including military deployments and major prison raids, many citizens remain skeptical of Noboa’s approach.

The referendum defeat reflects mounting concerns over security, sovereignty and fears that Noboa’s constitutional plans could centralize power. While supporters argue the country needs stronger tools to combat crime, critics say the president has overreached and failed to offer clear explanations of his proposed

Singer Dolly Parton accepts honorary Oscar from home after pulling out of ceremony

Legendary singer Dolly Parton delivered a warm, emotional virtual speech at the Governors Awards after receiving The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award — an honorary Oscar recognizing her decades of philanthropy.

Parton was unable to attend the ceremony in Hollywood due to undisclosed health issues, but still showed up in true Dolly fashion, recording a charming message for the audience, Daily Mail reported.

The 79-year-old icon shared how deeply the honor meant to her, reflecting on her upbringing in a crowded home of 12 children and how her parents taught her the power of giving — even when there wasn’t much to give.

“From my heart to yours, I truly thank you,” she said.

“I grew up in a house with 12 kids… my mom and daddy showed me that the more you give, the more blessings come your way.”

Dolly added that she has spent her whole life trying to live by that example — and receiving an award for helping others felt like a blessing of a lifetime.

She also used the moment to express gratitude to her longtime friend and 9 to 5 co-star Lily Tomlin, who introduced her at the event.

Parton told the Academy that the award only inspires her to do even more:

“It makes me want to dream up new ways to help lift people up — and isn’t that what we’re here for?”

The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award has previously gone to Oprah Winfrey, Angelina Jolie, Geena Davis, Tyler Perry, Michael J. Fox, Jerry Lewis, and Debbie Reynolds.

Tom Cruise, Debbie Allen, and production designer Wynn Thomas were also honored with honorary Oscars at the event.

Cruise received a standing ovation after delivering a passionate speech about the magic of cinema and why storytelling remains the heart of his life and career.

UK threatens visa bans on three African countries

The UK government on Monday, November 17, warned that it will impose visa bans on Angola, Namibia and the Democratic Republic of Congo if the three African nations do not begin accepting the return of their nationals who entered Britain illegally.

The Home Office said visas would no longer be granted to citizens of the affected countries unless they cooperated by taking back “their criminals and illegal immigrants.” The warning came as Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood prepared to unveil what the government has described as the most sweeping overhaul of the UK’s asylum system in modern times.

Immigration has become an increasingly polarising issue in Britain, with surging support for Reform UK placing pressure on the governing Labour Party. Mahmood’s upcoming reforms are aimed at curbing the rising number of asylum seekers crossing the English Channel in small boats.

According to the Home Office, the three African countries face penalties because of “unacceptably low cooperation and obstructive returns processes.” Minister Alex Norris told Sky News that the governments involved have “one month to get this in order,” adding that similar action could be taken against other nations.

The proposed measures will include an “emergency brake” restricting visas from countries with high asylum application rates, even for people entering the UK legally. The government is also planning a major tightening of asylum rules, drawing on Denmark’s restrictive model.

Under the expected reforms, automatic benefits for asylum seekers would end, refugee protections would be significantly reduced, and the standard duration of refugee status would be cut from five years to 30 months. Refugees would face regular reviews of their status and could be required to return home once their countries are deemed safe. The waiting period for permanent residency would rise from five years to 20.

Critics have condemned the proposals, warning that the changes would create prolonged insecurity for refugees. Labour MP Tony Vaughan said the approach risks fostering “perpetual limbo and alienation,” arguing that it benefits neither refugees nor British society.

Government figures show that while asylum applications increased this year, the number of initial approvals actually fell. The UK has granted thousands of visas under humanitarian schemes for Afghans, Ukrainians and Hong Kong residents in recent years.

Europe is ‘not ready’ for Russian drone attack – EU

0

European Union Defence Commissioner Andrius Kubilius has issued a stark warning that Europe is still unprepared to effectively respond to a large scale Russian drone attack, stressing that the continent must urgently integrate Ukraine’s battlefield experience into its defence framework.

Kubilius delivered the warning during a speech in Vilnius, where he criticised the slow pace of Europe’s military adaptation despite more than two years of Russian aggression next door. His remarks come as the 27 nation bloc races to strengthen its aerial defences after NATO fighter jets were forced to shoot down Russian drones that violated Polish airspace in September.

“Why did it take us more than two years and the trigger of the Russian provocation with drones against Poland, and also against Baltic states and Romania, to understand that we are not ready to detect Russian drones and to destroy them with cost effective means?” Kubilius asked. “The Russians are learning. Are we?”

NATO has already boosted troop deployments and drone defence systems along its eastern flank following the incident in Poland. The European Union has also announced plans to build a continent wide anti drone defence system, although officials admit that concrete details remain unsettled and the project may take years to materialise.

Kubilius insisted that any serious European defence strategy must include Ukraine, whose soldiers have gained extensive real time experience countering Russian drones and missile barrages since the full scale invasion began in 2022. Ukraine’s military now consists of roughly 800,000 personnel, many of whom have spent years adapting to Russia’s rapidly evolving drone and missile tactics.

“If we do not do that, we shall make a historical mistake, which shall leave us weaker. And which shall leave Ukraine weaker,” he said.

His comments come amid growing concern within European intelligence services that Russian President Vladimir Putin may eventually target a NATO member state once the war in Ukraine stabilises. Several agencies have warned that Moscow could test the alliance’s resolve within the current decade unless Europe urgently boosts its defence readiness.

The push to strengthen drone defences is now seen as a top priority across the bloc, with NATO allies coordinating new deployments and EU leaders discussing funding mechanisms. However, with winter approaching and the war in Ukraine intensifying again, Kubilius urged member states not to delay. “The Russians are adapting. Europe must catch up,” he said.

Portugal ‘set to appeal Ronaldo’s red card in hope he’s not banned for any World Cup match

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) is reportedly set to appeal Cristiano Ronaldo’s red-card ban so he can play Portugal’s opening game of the 2026 World Cup.

Ronaldo was sent off during Portugal’s 2-0 qualifier defeat at the Republic of Ireland on Thursday after lashing out and elbowing Dara O’Shea on the hour mark in Dublin

The 40-year-old’s length of ban is currently unclear but, he was suspended for Sunday’s 9-1 thumping win over Armenia, which secured their qualification for next year’s finals in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America.

If he is given a multiple-game ban, which is the usual punishment for a straight red card, then he would miss Portugal’s opening two matches at the World Cup next summer.

In a bid to prevent that outcome from happening, the FPF are preparing to file a complaint to FIFA to ensure his ban covers solely the Armenia qualifier, according to A Bola.

The Portuguese outlet claims FPF president Pedro Proenca has been directly involved in the process to defend Ronaldo when they make their complaint, and have three reasons for their case.

The first point they will argue is of the hostile environment within the Aviva Stadium and the actions of Republic of Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson contributing to that. The Icelandic manager had alleged that Ronaldo had dominated the referee in the previous meeting between the teams.

Secondly, they argue that Ronaldo was provoked by O’Shea’s shirt-grabbing in the build-up to the incident.

And finally they are seeking goodwill on the count of Ronaldo’s disciplinary record at international level – with this his first red card in 226 appearances for his country.

In the wake of Thursday’s loss, Portugal boss Roberto Martinez argued Ronaldo’s outburst was not ‘violent’ post-match in a staunch defence of his captain.

‘Of course, we spoke,’ the Everton manager said. ‘I think it’s difficult for a player like Cristiano, who’s in the box. And today he had two defenders constantly in physical contact.

‘There’s no violence. He tries to push the defender away and he was unlucky that the VAR… the angle of the images [makes it look] worse than what happened. It’s Ronaldo’s first red card for the national team, it’s incredible.’

DR Congo used Voodoo to Beat Nigeria – Coach Eric Chelle

0

The Manager of the Nigerian national team, Coach Erci Chelle, has made some wild allegations against DR Congo representatives on the touchline during the World Cup Playoff.

Nigeria, Gabon, Cameroon, and Congo finished as the second-best teams in their group stages, so they got a chance to play a few matches to secure a slot.

The Super Eagles beat Gabon 4-1 after extra time in their first match, and DR Congo beat Cameroon 1-0.

The two clashed in the African Final, where Nigeria took the lead in the third minute of the game, but Elia Meschack equalised in the 3rd minute before half-time. The full 90 minutes ended, and the match headed to Extra time and penalties after 1-1 in 120 minutes.

A scuffle broke out between Eric and the Congo’s coaching staff during the penalty shout-outs, but no one knew why. His supporters and the Nigeria Football Federation calmed him down and focused on the shoot-outs, which Nigeria eventually lost 4-3 on penalties.

Eric explained the fight, stating that he saw some DR Congo officials sprinkling some water in the air throughout the penalties. He was doing that as a Voodoo, a spiritual way of turning things around in tough times.
He tries to stop them, and that is how things escalated.

https://twitter.com/MickyJnr__/status/1990195273826758933?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1990195273826758933%7Ctwgr%5E347d347045fcd3d3148ce21655833332c195a12b%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.cbgist.com%2Fdr-congo-used-voodoo-to-beat-nigeria-coach-eric-chelle%2F

Eric claims that’s why Nigeria lost.

His post-match conference triggered a lot of Nigerians, questioning his tactics and the Nigeria Football Federation.

People who believe in spirituality understand him to some extent, but others don’t believe in Voodoo; they say Nigeria is just weak.

ZAMBIA’S DIPLOMATIC WEEK | Washington Signals Money, Beijing Signals Strategy

🇿🇲 ZAMBIA’S DIPLOMATIC WEEK | Washington Signals Money, Beijing Signals Strateg

Zambia has entered one of its most geopolitically significant weeks in recent years. Washington has pledged deeper economic cooperation and a five-year health package valued at 1.5 billion dollars. Beijing is dispatching its Premier for a two-day state visit centred on trade, infrastructure and regional connectivity.

The sequence is not accidental. Israel’s President was in Lusaka last week. The United States is expanding its economic footprint. China is reinforcing long-term strategic ties. Zambia now sits at the centre of a quiet contest for influence in Southern Africa.

President Hakainde Hichilema just held a call with United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The American readout was direct. Washington wants to drive private sector investment into Zambia and partner on reforms that deliver “meaningful action.”

This aligns with Washington’s view of Zambia as a stable anchor in a region marked by coups, insurgencies and political volatility.

The 1.5 billion dollar American health commitment is the clearest long-term signal of US engagement. The package runs from April 2026 to 2031 and forms the backbone of a new multi-year agreement to be signed in December.

Health Minister Elijah Muchima said the funding targets human resources, laboratories, epidemic preparedness and the control of HIV, TB and malaria. Zambia has reached the 98-98-97 HIV milestone and moved life expectancy from 33 years in 2004 to 64 years today. The American support is meant to consolidate these gains and guide Zambia toward full programme ownership after 2030.

The details are under negotiation. Zambia wants revisions to penalty clauses linked to domestic financing, stronger data protection measures under the Data Protection Act and the National Health Act, and tighter controls on long-term specimen sharing. A 323 million dollar technical assistance component is under review.

Muchima underlined that Zambia welcomes the money but must protect sensitive data and maintain oversight of programme delivery. United States Ambassador Michael Gonzales said the package is designed to build permanent systems rather than deepen dependency.

While Washington focuses on health and investment confidence, Beijing is returning with a strategic agenda. China’s Premier Li Qiang arrives on 19 November for a two-day visit. Foreign Affairs Minister Mulambo Haimbe said discussions will cover trade, investment, logistics, mining, agriculture, energy and technology.

Central to the talks is the revival of TAZARA, the historic railway China built in the 1970s and now wants to modernise as part of a broader industrial corridor.

China remains Zambia’s most consistent infrastructural partner. Its presence spans mining, energy, construction, health and manufacturing. The Premier’s visit signals Beijing’s intention to maintain strategic depth as Zambia draws heightened attention from Western investors and multilateral banks.

Beijing wants to retain its position in infrastructure, critical minerals and regional transport.

Zambia has become a diplomatic corridor where global powers are competing through soft power, strategic funding and long-term positioning. The United States is sharpening its development and investment role.

China is reinforcing its industrial, mineral and logistical leadership. Israel’s recent visit added agriculture, security and technology to the equation. Each relationship carries incentives, risks and political weight.

For Lusaka, the task is balance. Zambia needs Chinese infrastructure, American capital, and Israeli technology. It must also protect sovereignty, ensure transparent governance and maintain consistent policy in the face of competing interests.

The coming weeks will determine whether Zambia can translate diplomatic visibility into investment, structural reform and economic durability.

President Samia Suluhu of Tanzania Appoints Daughter and Son-in-Law to Cabinet Roles

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed her daughter, Wanu Hafidh Ameir, as Deputy Minister of Education and her son-in-law, Mohammed Mchengerwa, as Minister of Health — a move already stirring intense debate in Dodoma, according to political sources.

Wanu and Mohammed, who are married, now enter the Cabinet together, a decision expected to intensify criticism from opponents who have long accused President Samia of nepotism and of consolidating power within a close inner circle.

Mohammed, the MP for Rufiji, previously served as Minister of State in the President’s Office for Regional Administration and Local Government, a position he has held since 2023.

In the same reshuffle, former President Jakaya Kikwete’s son, Ridhiwani Kikwete, was appointed Minister for Governance, further expanding the list of politically connected family members elevated to senior government roles.

The appointments come just days after President Samia was declared the winner of Tanzania’s disputed election with 97.66 per cent of the vote — a result opponents decried as uncompetitive after leading challengers were barred from the race.

Receiving her certificate of victory in Dodoma, the president defended her mandate even as critics accuse her administration of nepotism, intolerance of dissent, and centralising authority within the ruling establishment.

It seems Zambia is fast becoming the place everyone wants to be. Within the last few days, the nation has had visits from billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote, celebrated entrepreneur Tony Elumelu, the President of Israel Mr Isaac Herzog, US President’s son Donald Trump Jr, European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships Mr. Jozef Sikela. And now, the Premier of China, Mr. Li Qiang, is also set to visit Zambia.

This growing list of influential visitors is a clear sign of the rising global interest in Zambia’s potential.

From investment opportunities to diplomatic partnerships, the world is paying attention. These high-profile visits reflect the strong reputation Zambia continues to build on the international stage.

China’s Premier LI to Visit Zambia from November 19 to 20, 2025

China’s Premier LI to Visit Zambia

By Masauso Mkwayaya

Premier of the Chinese State Council, LI QIANG, will undertake a two-day official visit to Zambia from November 19 to 20, 2025.

Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE says the visit aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and advance key development programmes.

Mr. HAIMBE says Premier LI is travelling at the invitation of President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, with discussions expected to deepen collaboration in trade and investment, transport and logistics, energy, mining, agriculture and technology.

The visit follows President HICHILEMA’s State Visit to China in September 2023, during which Zambia and China elevated their long-standing relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

According to the Ministry, Premier LI’s visit reaffirms the continued growth of the historic and mutually beneficial ties between the two nations.

While in Lusaka, Premier LI will hold bilateral talks with President HICHILEMA at State House.

The discussions will include a review of progress on existing agreements and flagship projects such as the revitalisation of the Tanzania–Zambia Railway Authority -TAZARA.

The two leaders are also expected to explore new areas of cooperation under the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation -FOCAC.

Premier LI is scheduled to depart Zambia at the conclusion of his engagements on November 20, 2025.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by Mr. HAIMBE.

Who Is Li Qiang, and Why His Visit  to Zambia Matters

Who Is Li Qiang, and Why His Visit Matters

Li Qiang is not a ceremonial figure. He is the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, a position that places him in charge of the country’s government and its economic direction.

In China’s system, the Premier is the second most powerful leader after President Xi Jinping. When someone at that level travels abroad, it signals serious intent.

Li Qiang was born in Zhejiang in 1959 and rose through the ranks of provincial leadership. He once served as Party Secretary of Shanghai, one of China’s most important economic centres.

His reputation is built on his record of promoting private enterprise and pushing for economic growth. He is known for being close to President Xi, which gives him considerable influence within China’s decision-making circles.

For Zambia, his visit is important because he oversees the machinery that drives China’s investments, trade policy and development cooperation.

When he arrives in Lusaka, he brings the authority to confirm agreements, open new areas of cooperation and shape how China engages with Zambia in the years ahead.

This is why the visit matters. It is a moment when Zambia meets not just a visitor, but a key architect of China’s economic power.

The outcomes of his meetings here have the potential to influence investment, jobs and long-term partnerships that touch daily life across the country.

LISWANISO ADMITS PF SECRETARIAT ATTACKERS WERE UPND YOUTHS, WARNS AGAINST VIOLENCE

LISWANISO ADMITS PF SECRETARIAT ATTACKERS WERE UPND YOUTHS, WARNS AGAINST VIOLENCE

UPND youth chairperson Gilbert Liswaniso has admitted that the unruly group of young people who stormed the PF Secretariat over the weekend were members of his own party, warning that such behaviour is a danger to the country’s democracy and to the ruling party itself.

Featuring on Hot FM’s Breakfast Show this morning, Liswaniso broke the silence that had surrounded the incident, saying his own inquiries revealed that the youths, who were seen in party regalia, came from Kanyama after holding a meeting in Chinika before embarking on their own roadshow.

Liswaniso distanced senior party officials, particularly Lusaka deputy mayor Ketty Nanyangwe from the attack, saying some people were wrongly linking her grassroots mobilisation programmes to the violent group that descended on the PF Secretariat.

The youth chairperson cautioned that the UPND could not afford to tolerate caderism in any form and that violence risks pushing the ruling party out of favour with voters.

He revealed that he personally spent the day of the incident making calls to establish who the perpetrators were, and that honest members confirmed that they were indeed UPND youths.

“For me my punishment is different from everyone. When you are identified as the ring leader, we chase you from the party,” he said.

The youth boss said UPND had tried its best to reduce caderism despite isolated cases such as the recent attack.

The raid on the PF Secretariat, captured on video over the weekend, left the opposition party crying foul after its members were beaten and property was damaged.

The party has directed authorities to launch investigations into the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.

US, Zambia Discuss $1.5bn Health Grant

By Honester Mshoka

The United States government and Zambia have begun discussions to conclude an agreement for a 1.5-billion-dollar grant to support the health sector.

Health Minister ELIJAH MUCHIMA says the assistance will be delivered through a Memorandum of Understanding -MoU, which will run for five years beginning in April 2026.

Speaking during a high-level meeting in Lusaka, Dr. MUCHIMA said the government will work closely with the US to implement health services in line with the MoU.

Dr. MUCHIMA explained that the agreement will focus on technical areas, human resources, medical commodities and broader health system strengthening.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to Zambia, MICHAEL GONZALES, said the support will reinforce laboratory and data systems, workforce capacity and medical interventions.

Mr. GONZALES noted that the partnership aims to ensure long-term sustainability in delivering quality healthcare to Zambians.

US State Department Senior Health Adviser BRAD SMITH added that the United States regards Zambia as a key partner.

SENIOR U.S. DELEGATION SETS NEW DIRECTION FOR U.S. HEALTH SUPPORT TO ZAMBIA

NOVEMBER 17, 2025, LUSAKA – ZAMBIA

A high-level United States Government delegation visited Lusaka on November 17 to initiate discussions on a new direction for U.S. health assistance to Zambia. The talks focused on a major grant package from the United States aimed at strengthening Zambia’s health systems and services over the next five years.

The proposed framework commits both governments to agreed funding levels and measurable health performance targets, with the goal of accelerating Zambia’s transition from reliance on external aid to a nationally led and sustainably financed health system that meets the needs of its people.

The discussions were led by U.S. State Department Senior Health Advisor Brad Smith, alongside Zambia’s Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Elijah Muchima, Minister of Finance Hon. Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, and Minister of Defense Hon. Ambrose Lufuma.

The meeting also included U.S. Ambassador Michael Gonzales, senior officials from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. State Department, as well as the Zambia National Public Health Institute Director General and Presidential Advisor on Health, Professor Roma Chilengi, and Director for Infectious Diseases, Professor Mulenga.

This new approach builds on more than two decades of collaboration between the two countries in combating HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, maternal and child mortality, and public health emergencies. It also aims to preserve and strengthen the laboratory networks, data systems, health workforce, and medical interventions jointly developed to ensure long-term sustainability, safeguard Zambia’s health gains, and enhance regional and global health security.

THE CHURCH SHOULD BE FREE TO ADVISE GOVERNMENT, OPPOSITION – HON MUNDUBILE.

………says past incidents of insulting or belittling church leaders must never be repeated.

Kabwe………..16th November, 2025 (Smart Eagles)

Patriotic Front Presidential Aspirant Honourable Brian Mundubile has urged the public and Political leaders to frown upon any acts that disrespect church leaders.

This came to light when he addressed congregants at United Church of Zambia (UCZ) St Marks congregation in Kabwe during the service to celebrate 20 years of unbroken service for Rev. Gift Kyembe.

Hon Mundubile said unruly behaviour targeting the Church Leaders undermines the dignity of the church and the order of society.

He said the trend where politicians  get carried away and exchange words with the clergy must come to an end.

Hon Mundubile said respect for the church is non-negotiable and that the church must remain free to advise both the ruling party and the opposition.

“what has been witnessed in the past where the church is called names and disrespected must never be repeated.  The church should be free to advise politicians whether they are in opposition or ruling party. The dignity that should be accorded to the church remains fundamental for us to have an orderly society,” he said.

And Hon Mundubile has called for stronger interaction between the church and government.

He has also noted the need for the revival of the Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs and the speedy completion of the House of Prayer.

“There is need for increased and enhanced interaction between the church and government.  The church continues to give spiritual guidance .  We feel there is a strong relationship between the church and government. There must be respect given to the church if we are to have a strong relationship,” said Hon Mundubile.

He said the opposition will continue to provide alternative policies to government in various sectors.

Roman Catholic leader Pope Leo XIV has listed Nigeria among countries where Christians face discrimination and persecution, alongside Bangladesh, Mozambique, Sudan, and others.

In a post on his official X account, he expressed concern over continued attacks on Christian communities and churches, urging prayers for peace and unity.

He also called for prayers for families in Kivu, DRC, after recent massacres killed many civilians.

The pope’s remarks echo concerns from US President Donald Trump, who re-designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” over religious persecution.

The Nigerian government has rejected this label, insisting the country is secular and does not target any faith

Bangladesh’s ousted leader Sheikh Hasina sentenced to death after crimes against humanity conviction

By: CNN

Sheikh Hasina, the ousted Prime Minister of Bangladesh, has been sentenced to death after being found guilty of crimes against humanity for the violent suppression of student protests last year that led to the collapse of her government.

A panel of three judges from the International Crimes Tribunal, Bangladesh’s domestic war crimes court, delivered their verdict Monday, ruling that Hasina was responsible for inciting hundreds of extrajudicial killings carried out by law enforcement.

The courtroom, where some victims’ families were present, burst into applause as the judges delivered their sentence.

“Sheikh Hasina committed crimes against humanity by her incitement, order and failure to take punitive measures,” one of the judge said as he delivered her verdict.

South Africa said they will not travel to the USA  to hand over the G20 presidency

South Africa  said they will not travel to the USA  to hand over the G20 presidency, either the US comes and collects it in South Africa, or host the next meeting without an official handover

This week, the South African government made it clear, it will NOT travel to the United States to hand over the G20 presidency.

According to Pretoria, the next move is now up to Washington. Either the US must come to South Africa, or go ahead and host the next G20 leaders’ summit without an official handover ceremony.

This standoff comes after months of rising tension between the two countries. Matters escalated when Donald Trump announced that the US would not send a delegation to the Johannesburg summit next week, while openly criticising South Africa’s role in the G20.

With the summit just days away, global eyes are now on how the US responds—and what this means for the future of the G20’s leadership tradition.

Moroccan stadiums are creating major, even destabilizing challenges for Spanish venues ahead of the 2030 World Cup, with Spanish media reporting growing alarm over the North African nation’s ambitious infrastructure projects – an issue some outlets have already described as “a mess” for the Iberian country.

Spanish newspaper Diario AS revealed that “Morocco intends to organize the 2030 World Cup final in its Casablanca stadium.” The report made it clear that Morocco “wants to celebrate the final in its own country rather than at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu.”

This development puts Spain in an uncomfortable position as co-host alongside Morocco and Portugal. AS noted that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is pushing for the Spanish capital to host the final, but Morocco’s growing football influence presents serious competition.

SOUTH AFRICA REFUSES TO CROSS AN OCEAN FOR A “HANDSHAKE”

16th November 2025

By: The Enlightened Spectator | Tough Talk Satire Section & NotSoSeriousNews (NSSN)

In a development that has left diplomats clutching their pearls and travel agents wondering where it all went wrong, South Africa has politely — but firmly — informed the United States that it will not be hopping on an aeroplane to hand over the G20 presidency. Not even for the sake of ceremony, photo ops, or an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington’s finest beige conference rooms.

According to Pretoria, if the US wants the ceremonial passing of the G20 baton, it can pack its bags, dust off its passports, and pop down to South Africa like everyone else. Otherwise, America is welcome to simply assume the presidency and announce its priorities to the world — presumably from behind a podium embossed with an unnecessarily large eagle.

This diplomatic tango follows months of rising tension, culminating in President Donald Trump declaring that the US would not be sending a delegation to next week’s summit in Johannesburg — and suggesting, with characteristic subtlety, that South Africa shouldn’t be at the forum in the first place. Washington insiders report that the decision came after hours of careful consideration, plus a sudden realisation that “Johannesburg” isn’t, in fact, near Florida.

South Africa’s G20 Sherpa, Ambassador Xolisa Mabhongo, was unbothered, unshaken, and entirely unimpressed.

“There is nothing South Africa will do,” he said, in a tone rumoured to have caused several American officials to Google “diplomatic sulking”. “We’re not going to the US to hand over. They can come here, or they can carry on without a ceremony. It is what it is.”

And indeed, it very much is what it is.

Traditionally — that is, in years when nobody is in a mood — the outgoing host formally passes the G20 reins to the incoming chair at the leaders’ summit. Last year, for instance, President Cyril Ramaphosa travelled to Rio de Janeiro, where Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva transferred the role with dignity, ceremony, and only a modest number of overly enthusiastic samba drums.

This year, however, tradition appears to have packed its bags and quietly slipped out through the side door.

Whether the US will eventually decide to hop across the Atlantic for a symbolic handshake remains to be seen. For now, one thing is clear: South Africa won’t be budging — not even for the world’s most powerful nation.

After all, as any seasoned diplomat will tell you: if the mountain won’t come to Muhammad, Muhammad certainly isn’t paying for long-haul flights.

Mali  Suspends French TV Channels Over “False Reporting”

Mali’s military government has taken LCI and TF1 off air, accusing the two French TV channels of spreading false information about an alleged fuel blockade by the al-Qaeda-linked JNIM group.

According to authorities, the broadcasters misled the public by reporting that JNIM has been blocking fuel supplies since September — a serious claim for a landlocked nation already facing security and economic pressures.

TF1 is one of France’s biggest commercial TV stations, while LCI serves as its major free-to-air news channel.

This move adds to the tense atmosphere in the Sahel, where Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso — all under military rule — say they’re focused on restoring security, even as relations with Western partners grow increasingly strained.

 Iran Hit Hard by Drought… Government Considers Relocating the Capital!

Iran is facing one of the worst droughts in its modern history, with more than 20 provinces affected — including the capital, Tehran, which is now at real risk when it comes to drinking water and daily life.

As the situation worsens, the Iranian government has officially begun studying a plan to move the capital away from Tehran to a region less affected by drought, amid warnings from environmental experts that the city’s water resources could run out within a few years if drastic decisions are not made.

The drought has impacted:

Agriculture and livestock

Drinking water sources

The electricity sector due to declining dam water levels

Increased internal migration from villages to cities

 Environmental reports point to several causes, including climate change, poor water-resource management, excessive use of groundwater, and outdated water infrastructure.

 The crisis represents a direct existential threat to millions of residents.

WHY HAKAINDE HICHILEMA HAS FAILED
[Lessons for  others intending to lead Zambia]
______________
Dr. Canisius BANDA, a once close ally of HH now writes ✍️….

Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema has publicly acknowledged that “both government and the nation have failed…’

He has taken responsibility and described the situation as a wake-up call.”

Hakainde Hichilema
President of the Republic of Zambia
October 2025

In-depth Reasons

1. His severe lack of grounding in both domestic and African nationalism. This is a vital requirement for any leader intending to occasion the continental renaissance.

2. His unbridled and unquestionable faith in foreign-led private sector governance.

3. His disdain for the public service and ,view of it as a hindrance and not the required tool for governance and economic anchorage. His sense of being outside the framework of Zambia’s Republican Constitution and capacity to flout and run roughshod with it.

4. His insistence in running government as a business and firm but false belief that government has no business in business. Government is a social construct.

5. His lack of depth on geopolitics and naivety about national strategic positioning. Pandit Nehru and Kenneth Kaunda should have have been his guide posts for non-alignement.

6. His willingness to easily trade moral principle for personal ambition.

7. His social awkwardness with people. His lack of emotional intelligence and people skills. He fails to connect with people as people.

8. His lack of sincerity in dealing with his own team, his overblown sense of self and lack of fearless and competent advisors. He views his Vice President Mutale Nalumango and most of his cabinet ministers as only utilitarian and as redundant/mere padding. His know-it-all attitude is his nemesis.

9. His excessive faith in non-Africans and willingness to dance to their tune regardless of how manipulative it may be.

10. His failure to effectively use the the IDC as a national development vehicle, and the absence of original thought in developing and implementing a home-grown economic recovery and growth plan. His view of debt as a problem. Debt is an asset. The whole world runs on debt.

PF’s Legal Firestorm Escalates as Sampa Drags Chabinga & Ng’ona to Court; Convention Hangs in Balance

.

 BUILD-UP | PF’s Legal Firestorm Escalates as Sampa Drags Chabinga & Ng’ona to Court; Convention Hangs in Balance

The Patriotic Front (PF) has entered another volatile chapter of its internal breakdown, with fresh court filings by Matero MP Miles Bwalya Sampa escalating a power struggle that is now running parallel to police lockdowns, violent clashes, factional standoffs and a stalled convention process.

This morning, Sampa’s lawyers filed a 36-page affidavit before High Court Judge CC Zulu, seeking committal proceedings for contempt of court against Morgan Ng’ona and Robert Chabinga, two figures at the centre of last week’s Kabwe High Court injunction that shut down PF offices across the country.

The documents, stamped 17 November 2025, mark Sampa’s most aggressive legal counteroffensive yet. In his sworn statement, Sampa argues that Ng’ona (the so-called PF Secretary General) and Chabinga (Mafinga MP) acted “fraudulently” and in “clear disobedience” of the Lusaka High Court ruling of 25 March 2025, which had discharged an earlier stay, restoring Sampa’s decisions to expel Ng’ona and remove Chabinga as Leader of the Opposition

Sampa insists that the Kabwe injunction obtained last week was grounded in misrepresentation and amounts to contempt of court.

These filings come only days after violence erupted at the PF Secretariat in Lusaka, prompting the police to seal off the building. The state claims the move is to prevent further clashes. But online sentiment tells a different story. The People’s Brief monitoring data shows a strong belief among PF supporters and political observers that police presence is serving a secondary political function: enforcing the Chabinga injunction by preventing Lubinda-aligned structures from accessing the Secretariat ahead of the long-overdue PF convention.

The allegations of “state enforcement” have gained traction because Chabinga’s injunction effectively froze PF activities and halted the convention machinery. The PF constitution requires a valid Secretariat and functioning central structures to run a lawful elective conference.

With the Secretariat shut, the convention clock is stuck. And with the police camped at the gates, the Chabinga order whose legitimacy Sampa is now challenging, remains the de facto status quo.

Sampa’s affidavit paints a picture of a party running two parallel states. He recounts the 2023 PF extraordinary conference at Mulungushi where he claims he was legitimately elected president. He outlines the disciplinary measures he took against Ng’ona and Chabinga in 2024.

He lists court rulings that, in his interpretation, validate his authority. And he accuses his rivals of defying binding judicial decisions. The language is unmistakable: Sampa says they have “with impunity disrespected and disobeyed the dignity, authority and jurisdiction” of the court.

Chabinga’s faction, on the other hand, insists it is acting within the law and that the Kabwe injunction reflects the true leadership. Their camp has framed Sampa’s filings as a panic move, arguing he fears the injunction will collapse his claim to the presidency.

The timing is politically sharp: PF presidential aspirants are already campaigning informally. Names like Makebi Zulu, Brian Mundubile, Chitalu Chilufya and Given Lubinda are intensifying their ground work. A locked Secretariat creates a leadership deadlock that benefits factions seeking to delay the convention until their numbers consolidate.

For the ruling UPND, this is politically useful chaos. After the attack on PF Secretariat, Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa condemned the violence but distanced the party from it. He also reminded the public that PF must resolve its internal crisis.

The online reading, however, is far more suspicious: much of the PF base sees the police lockdown as a continuation of the Chingola stoning aftermath, a moment that has shifted political policing into sharper national focus.

With the PF convention now suspended in mid-air, the latest court filings show the party moving deeper into a legal minefield. Sampa wants Ng’ona and Chabinga jailed for contempt.

Chabinga wants PF structures shut. The police want calm. The factions want control. And the 2026 race wants clarity.

For now, PF remains frozen. Two court orders, two centres of power, one sealed Secretariat and a convention nowhere in sight.

THE EDUCATION SECTOR UNDER THE UPND GOVERNMENT IS COLLAPSING, CLAIMS MAKEBI ZULU

He Writes  

Fellow Zambians,

Our education sector is collapsing.

If we were to assess the United Party for National Development’s (UPND) investment in higher education since taking office, we would rate it one out of ten. Since the Patriotic Front left government, there has been no significant development of universities, colleges, or skills training facilities in any part of the our country. We in the Patriotic Front had a clear vision to decentralise education and reduce the need for youths to travel to Lusaka and the Copperbelt just to access it. That vision has been abandoned.

In all our 10 years in office, we built Trades Training Institutes in the following locations:

• Kalabo, serving Sikongo, Kalabo, Mitete, and Nalolo
• Sesheke, serving Sioma, Shangombo, Mwandi, Sesheke, Mulobezi, and Kazungula
• Kafue, serving Kafue, Mazabuka, Chikankata, and Chirundu
• Lundazi, serving Lundazi, Chasefu, Chama, Lumezi, and Chipangali
• Isoka, serving Isoka, Nakonde, and Mafinga
• Mwinilunga, serving Mwinilunga, Ikeleng’i, and Kabompo
• Mumbwa, serving Mumbwa, Itezhi-Tezhi, and Shibuyunji
• Mwense, serving Mwense, Nchelenge, and Chiengi
• Kaoma, serving Kaoma, Lukulu, and Nkeyema

We built Robert Kapasa Makasa University in Chinsali. We modernised Mulungushi University and Kwame Nkrumah University in Kabwe. We upgraded Mukuba University in Kitwe. We constructed a new medical campus in Ndola. We expanded Chalimbana University in Chongwe. We built the Levy Mwanawasa Medical University in Lusaka, to name a few.

And so we urge you fellow Zambians, Do not lose hope. Cadre Tensions, Police Seals PF Secretariat, & The Narrative Control Battle

⬆️  MONITOR | Cadre Tensions, Police Seals PF Secretariat, & The Narrative Control Battle

The People’s Brief has been tracking the escalation around the PF Secretariat since Saturday’s attack. What is unfolding now is no longer just a security story. It is a political perception war, an information battle and a test of state neutrality as Zambia edges toward 2026. The police presence at the Secretariat, the government’s insistence on peace and the online interpretation of these developments form a triangle of tension that needs careful unpacking.

The first development is the visible police deployment at the PF Secretariat. News Diggers and other outlets have reported that officers are camped outside the building. Officially, this is framed as an attempt to prevent further violence and maintain order after Saturday’s chaotic scenes. But online perception tells a different story.

Our sentiment monitoring show a dominant narrative suggesting this police presence is being viewed as the state indirectly enforcing the Chabinga court order. In the eyes of many PF supporters, law enforcement is not keeping peace, but locking down PF operations on behalf of Robert Chabinga, who insists he is the legally recognised PF president. That perception has spread fast because it aligns with existing fears inside the PF that the state is picking a side in their internal dispute.

The government has tried to push back. Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa condemned the attack on the PF Secretariat and distanced the UPND from the violence. He insisted that no cadres were sent and that there will be “no return to caderism” under President Hichilema.

His tone was firm, but online responses show that the public is divided. Non-partisan viewers welcomed the call for law and order. PF supporters, however, framed it as political theatre. The hardline opposition base says Mweetwa is trying to pretend the UPND is clean while ignoring that the attackers wore ruling party regalia. This gap between official assurances and public trust is widening.

Another layer has emerged. UPND-aligned voices have been quietly defending the presence of police at the PF Secretariat, arguing it is a safety measure. But PF platforms have been posting videos and captions claiming the police are “sealing” the Secretariat, not protecting it.

The fact that Chabinga himself announced that PF offices across the country are “out of bounds” has fed a perception that the state is helping him execute his directive. The timing makes the perception stronger: the attack happened days after the court order, the police arrived soon after, and the party’s structures remain split.
Facts and narrative have diverged.

On the UPND side, the worry is different. Sentiment analysis shows many ruling-party supporters fear infiltration. They believe Saturday’s attackers could be PF coordinated effort to embarrass the government and paint the President as losing control. They also fear that premature statements by UPND officials Father Frank Bwalya’s remarks and others on the Chingola stoning fiasco created communication confusion that weakened the party’s credibility when the police later issued a more serious report contradicting them.

This internal concern resurfaced after Mweetwa stressed that he alone speaks for the party. That signal was not lost on the base.

Inside PF, the mood is chaotic. The party is still split between the Lubinda bloc and the Chabinga bloc. The court order shutting the Secretariat until further notice has added legal uncertainty to the internal war. Scenes of police outside the building are being used by both factions to argue legitimacy.

Lubinda’s faction says the order is selective and politically assisted. Chabinga’s faction says law is finally being followed. Meanwhile, aspirants pushing for the convention are unsettled, because without access to the Secretariat, mobilisation and verification processes are compromised.

Across social media, the dominant narrative is that the state has entered the ring, whether intentionally or through perception. In Zambia, perception often eclipses fact. If large sections of the opposition believe the government is helping Chabinga, the state risks being framed as partisan even if it is not.

If sections of the ruling party believe there is an attempt to destabilise the President through manufactured violence, the UPND risks sliding back into the opposition mindset that has already damaged its communication strategy.

What is clear from our monitoring is that the PF meltdown has now become a national mood influencer. The violence in Chingola, the stoning of the President, the arrests, the attack on the Secretariat and the police deployment have created a charged environment where every move is politicised.

The government must manage perception. The PF must resolve its internal war. And law enforcement must demonstrate equal application of the law. The stakes are rising, and the battle for narrative control has already begun.

Deputy Inspector General of  Has Crossed the Line Into Cadre Behaviour – Njobvu

Hamaamba Has Crossed the Line Into Cadre Behaviour – Njobvu

Democratic Union President Ackim Antony Njobvu says Deputy Inspector General of Police, Fred Hamaamba, has “crossed the line into cadre behaviour” after issuing partisan remarks in Nakonde.

This follows Hamaamba’s own assurance that the Zambia Police Service under his command would not tolerate caderism a pledge Njobvu says now rings hollow.

While addressing residents, Hamaamba urged citizens and state institutions to fully support President Hakainde Hichilema, describing him as a visionary leader. The comments have sparked outrage, with critics arguing that such endorsements have no place in the mouth of a senior civil servant.

Njobvu says the Deputy IG’s statement is not only careless but openly partisan.

He insists the police must remain neutral and not be seen taking sides, especially from someone holding the second-highest position in the service.

“The police should be above party politics. What Hamaamba said is deeply concerning and raises questions about the fairness of the police as we head into next year’s elections,” Njobvu said.

He added that such conduct undermines confidence in the service and contradicts the professional principles Hamaamba claims to champion

According to Njobvu, the Deputy IG’s remarks are “hypocritical and unbecoming of a civil servant,” particularly one entrusted with national security responsibilities.

He questioned whether citizens can expect impartial law enforcement when those at the top are making politically coloured statements.

Njobvu, speaking in an interview in Lusaka, urged the police command to uphold its constitutional mandate and avoid dragging the service into partisan politics.
