PODCAST REMARKS COST ACTOR MATHIAS MUSUMALI TWO MAJOR BRAND DEALS

PODCAST REMARKS COST ACTOR MATHIAS MUSUMALI TWO MAJOR BRAND DEALS.

Actor Mathias Musumali says he has lost two major corporate endorsement deals following controversial remarks he made about female students during a podcast appearance.

Musumali came under public criticism after comments he made on Podcast Yatu, where he suggested that younger female students were more desirable than older women, remarks widely condemned as objectifying.

Speaking during a special interview on PTV2, hosted by PMC, Musumali revealed that two companies withdrew planned commercial partnerships in response to the backlash.

He said the firms informed him that they could no longer associate their brands with him following the comments.

“I had two big commercial deals lined up, but they were cancelled. The companies said they could not associate their brands with me,” Musumali said.

Meanwhile, the actor disclosed that he has chosen to step back from social media and avoid reading public commentary for the sake of his mental wellbeing, describing the criticism he has faced as overwhelming.

Musumali stressed the importance of protecting one’s mental health amid intense public pressure, adding that his decision to disengage from social media was necessary for his personal safety and peace of mind.

FORMER TUNISIAN PM JAILED FOR 24 YEARS FOR AIDING JIHADISTS TO TRAVEL TO SYRIA

FORMER Prime Minister of Tunisia Ali Larayedh saw his initial 34-year jail term reduced to 24 years on Thursday evening for allegedly aiding Tunisian jihadists in travelling to Syria for years.

Late on Thursday evening, it was official: Ali Larayedh, former Prime Minister of Tunisia, received a 24-year jail sentence for aiding Tunisian jihadists travel to Syria during the Syrian war, a case known as “Tasfir”.

The Appeals Court of Tunis was firm in its decision, which lowered the final sentence by ten years. The prosecution had initially demanded a 34-year jail term, which had been confirmed by the first trial result in May 2025.

Larayedh’s party, the Islamist opposition Ennahda, denounced the decision as “politically motivated”. Larayedh’s first trial last year had been marked by doubts when it came to solid proof for the accusations.

Seven other individuals were also sentenced at the same occasion, with verdicts requiring between three and 28 years in prison.

Ali Larayedh was Prime Minister of Tunisia from 2013 to 2014, just after the Arab Spring.

South Africa cuts all diplomatic ties with Israel amid rising tensions

South Africa cuts all diplomatic ties with Israel amid rising tensions

In a significant diplomatic move, South Africa has taken steps that amount to a breakdown in formal relations with Israel.

The South African government recently declared the senior Israeli diplomat in Pretoria persona non grata and ordered him to leave the country, escalating an already strained relationship between the two states. Israel responded in kind by declaring South Africa’s senior diplomatic representative persona non grata and giving him the same deadline to depart.

This tit-for-tat comes against a backdrop of long-running tensions: Pretoria has openly criticised Israel’s military actions in Gaza and at the International Court of Justice, accusing Israel of violations of international law and supporting Palestinian rights. Parliament previously passed motions to suspend diplomatic ties and shut down the Israeli embassy, though the full implementation of those decisions has been contested and remains complex.

The diplomatic rupture marks a major turning point in South Africa–Israel relations and could have broad implications for foreign policy and regional diplomacy.

Iran’s top security body vows ‘crushing response’ to US-Israeli strikes

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) has promised a “crushing response” following joint US and Israeli air strikes on Iran, noting the attacks occurred “once again during negotiations” with Washington.

It added that the “enemy” wrongly assumed the Iranian people would “surrender to their petty demands through such cowardly actions”.

The SNSC said Iran’s armed forces had already begun retaliatory measures and pledged to “continuously keep the dear people informed”.

It warned that operations by the US and Israel could continue in Tehran and other cities, urging citizens, “while maintaining calm”, to travel to safer areas where possible to avoid danger.

The council also reassured the public that the government had “prepared all societal needs in advance” and that there was “no concern regarding the supply of essential goods”, advising people to avoid crowded shopping centres.

Schools and universities will remain closed until further notice, banks will continue services, and government offices will operate at 50% capacity, the SNSC said, adding further updates would be announced in due course.

Iran says it knew US and Israel had ‘intentions’ to carry out strikes

0

Iran’s foreign ministry says in a statement that although Iran was aware of the “intentions” of the US and Israel to carry out attacks, they entered the negotiations regardless.

It acknowledges that the strikes happened “while Iran and the United States were in the midst of a diplomatic process”.

The third round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the US was held two days ago, on 26 February, in Geneva – without any breakthrough.

Iran and the US also held five rounds of talks also without progress in May last year, and a sixth round scheduled for June 2025 was cancelled after Israel launched surprise strikes on Iranian targets, triggering a 12-day conflict in which the US hit three key Iranian nuclear sites.

Explosions heard in Doha, as Qatar says it ‘countered several attacks

Qatar’s defence ministry said it intercepted several missiles, apparently targeting the al Udeid air base, the largest American military base in the region.

The interior ministry said the attacks caused no damage.

We’ve been getting emergency alerts on our phones warning people to stay indoors. There’s still traffic on the roads, but less than on other days.

Explosions have also been heard in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait.

The UAE’s state news agency said one person had been killed after the Emiratis intercepted Iranian missiles.

In Bahrain the state news agency announced that missiles had struck the US naval base, headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet.

It’s not clear what the damage was. Iran had vowed to target US bases in the region if it was attacked and its carrying out its threat.

World leaders react as Israel and US launch strikes on Iran

Global leaders and authorities are beginning to react to the news that the US and Israel have carried out strikes on Iran, and that Tehran is responding to those attacks with its own strikes in the Middle East.

The European Union’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas called the developments “perilous” and said that she has spoken to Israel’s foreign minister this morning. “Protection of civilians and international humanitarian law is a priority,” she said on X.

Switzerland’s foreign ministry said it is “deeply alarmed by today’s strikes by the US and Israel against Iran,” calling on “all parties to exercise maximum restraint, protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.”

Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the US and Israeli strikes on Iran “bring the Middle East to the edge of catastrophe,” urging Washington and Tehran to “pursue a diplomatic off-ramp rather than further escalation.”

Slovenia’s President Nataša Pirc Musar said that she was following the latest developments “with great concern,” posting to X that “we are witnessing a serious escalation of regional tensions, thereby endangering peace and stability in the Middle East.”

Ukraine’s foreign ministry said on X that “the regime in Tehran had every opportunity to prevent a violent scenario,” adding: “We reaffirm our unwavering position: we wish security, prosperity, and freedom to the Iranian people, as well as stability and prosperity to the Middle East.”

Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that his country “support(s) the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon,” also writing on X that “Australia stands with the brave people of Iran in their struggle against oppression.”
India’s embassies in Israel and Iran advised Indian nationals in the countries to “exercise utmost caution,” avoid unnecessary travel and monitor the situation.

Israeli strikes targeted Iranian supreme leader and president, among others- sources

0

Israel’s strikes on Iran Saturday morning targeted senior Iranian figures, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, armed forces Chief of Staff Sayyid Abdolrahim Mousavi, and President Masoud Pezeshkian, among others

Other targets included the secretary of Iran’s newly established Defence Council, Ali Shamkhani, and the secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, Ali Larijani, according to the Israeli sources.

It is unclear if any senior Iranian figures were hit in the attack.

FORMER UPND VICE PRESIDENT DR. CANISIUS BANDA PRAISE UPND FOR REJECTING QUESTIONABLE USA AID

FORMER UPND VICE PRESIDENT DR. CANISIUS BANDA PRAISE UPND FOR REJECTING QUESTIONABLE USA AID.

IN DEFENCE OF THE NATION
[Shibukeni]
___________

That Republican President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND in government have rejected the US Dollar 1 billion health co-financing offer from the US government is commendable indeed.

This is exemplary and required leadership.

This carrot is both questionable and dangerous.

The pursuit of biological data coupled with access to our minerals by the US government is suspicious.  It constitutes  treachery and a nefarious purchase of our sovereignty.

These days efforts aimed at neo-colonialism are a lot more subtle than before.

In the wrong hands, genetic profiling of our people and the infectious diseases that they suffer from could lead to the total extermination of Zambians.

We now live in a world of custom-made germs.

That this offer is coming for preventive efforts for future outbreaks may just be a ruse to make us take the money, wool over our eyes.

Note also that digitisation of data is another covert way of accessing the same data.

It is hoped that the on-going amendments to the deal will not sedate or fool us but that they will firmly safeguard the interests of Zambia through and through.

This high level of alertness in national security vigilance by Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND deserves the praise and support of every citizen.

Every citizen puts his country first, and every Zambian should do the same.

This level of national security alertness should be maintained and encouraged and be extended to every sphere of human endeavor in Zambia.

Collection of money in exchange of vital identity data is betrayal of the nation.

It constitutes an existential threat for Zambia.

Statement on the Reported $1 Billion US Health Funding Compact- KBF

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement on the Reported $1 Billion Health Funding Compact

The President of Zambia Must Prosper (ZMP), Kelvin Fube Bwalya (KBF), has noted with concern recent reports that the Government of Zambia has pushed back on aspects of a proposed health funding compact reportedly valued at over US$1 billion.

Public health is not a partisan issue. It is a national priority.
If indeed Zambia has raised objections to specific clauses within the proposed agreement, the Zambian people deserve full transparency.

Matters of National Concern
Zambia continues to face significant health challenges, including:
HIV/AIDS management
Malaria prevention
Health system strengthening
Medical supply stability
Emergency preparedness
Any funding framework designed to support these areas must be handled with clarity, accountability, and national consensus.

Questions the Government Must Address
ZMP respectfully calls upon the Government to provide immediate clarification on the following:

1. What specific clauses in the proposed agreement were considered inconsistent with Zambia’s national interest?
2. Has the Government submitted a formal counter-proposal? If so, what are its key provisions?

3. What safeguards are being proposed to ensure continued access to life-saving treatment and public health services?
4. Will the revised agreement be subjected to Parliamentary scrutiny and public disclosure?

Our Position
Zambia Must Prosper believes that:
National sovereignty must always be protected.
Strategic partnerships must serve Zambia’s long-term interests.

Public health programs must not be disrupted by political or diplomatic delays.
Transparency builds trust — secrecy breeds speculation.

Protecting national interest and securing international health support are not mutually exclusive objectives. They can and must coexist.

Our Recommendation
ZMP recommends that the Government:
Issue a comprehensive public brief outlining the concerns raised.
Disclose the proposed alternative framework.

Engage stakeholders, including Parliament and civil society.
Prioritize uninterrupted health service delivery.

Zambians deserve clarity, not rumors.
This is not about political point-scoring. It is about safeguarding the health and future of our citizens.

Lusambo Loses Appeal as Courts Tighten Grip on High-profile Asset Cases

🇿🇲 WEEKEND DIGEST: Lusambo Loses Appeal as Courts Tighten Grip on High-profile Asset Cases

Zambia’s Economic and Financial Crimes Court has delivered one of the most consequential rulings of the political season, upholding the four-year sentence of former Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo and reinforcing a broader judicial trend that is reshaping the country’s political and economic landscape ahead of the 2026 elections.

On Friday, February 27, 2026, a three-judge panel led by Justice Anna Ononuju dismissed Lusambo’s appeal and affirmed the lower court’s conviction, ruling that the State had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. Lusambo had been convicted in November 2024 on nine counts of corrupt practices, tax evasion and possession of properties suspected to be proceeds of crime.

His sentence of four years’ imprisonment with hard labour now stands.

The ruling follows months of public complaints by Lusambo over delays in the delivery of judgment. His wife, Nancy Manase, who was initially jointly charged with him, had earlier been acquitted. The former Kabushi Member of Parliament now remains incarcerated at a time when internal Patriotic Front divisions have weakened visible political backing for embattled former officials.

But Lusambo’s case does not stand alone.

In parallel proceedings, the State recently took possession of assets linked to former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM), including property forfeited under a non-conviction based forfeiture order granted in favour of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Officials from the National Prosecutions Authority confirmed the repossession and indicated that the asset is undergoing valuation.

Similarly, former President Edgar Lungu’s son, Dalitso Lungu, has appealed a lower court decision that ordered the forfeiture his property valued at over K24 million. The Economic and Financial Crimes Court had ruled that the assets were reasonably suspected to constitute proceeds of crime, raising questions about tax compliance and the source of funds used in the acquisitions.

Dalitso Lungu has lodged nine grounds of appeal, arguing that the court erred in rejecting his affidavit evidence and that no specific predicate offence was sufficiently established.

Taken together, these cases illustrate a clear economic and institutional pattern: the aggressive use of both conviction-based and non-conviction based asset forfeiture mechanisms under Zambia’s Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime framework.

From a policy perspective, the implications are significant.

First, the courts appear willing to uphold lower court findings where prosecutorial evidence meets the threshold of proof beyond reasonable doubt, as seen in Lusambo’s case. Second, the State is increasingly relying on civil forfeiture tools, which do not require a criminal conviction, to recover suspected illicit wealth. Third, appeals are now emerging as the next major battleground in politically sensitive financial crime litigation.

The political consequences are equally notable. Several former PF ministers and officials now face either incarceration, forfeiture, or pending appeals at a time when the opposition is attempting to reorganize ahead of the August 2026 elections. With internal party factions competing for leadership control, sustained legal battles may further fragment already divided support bases.

Economically, asset recovery efforts intersect with investor confidence and governance narratives. Government officials argue that recovery of “ill-acquired wealth” strengthens institutional credibility and restores public trust. Critics within the opposition describe the process as selective or politically timed.

The courts, however, continue to anchor their rulings in statutory interpretation and evidential standards.

As the weekend settles in, one reality is clear: the Economic and Financial Crimes Court has become a central theatre in Zambia’s political economy. The outcome of ongoing appeals, including Dalitso Lungu’s challenge, will shape not only individual fortunes but also the tone of governance debates heading into the election year.

For now, Bowman Lusambo remains behind bars. GBM’s property has been repossessed. Dalitso Lungu’s appeal awaits determination.

The courts are speaking. The political season continues.

COP NARRATES HOW FORMER IBA DG’s ALLEGED KILLERS WERE IDENTIFIED

COP NARRATES HOW FORMER IBA DG’s ALLEGED KILLERS WERE IDENTIFIED

A POLICE officer has narrated to the Lusaka High Court how the three people, charged with the murder of former IBA Director Guntila Muleya were positively identified by witnesses who saw them pick the deceased at Mika Convention Center.

Detective Chief Inspector Evans Chanda, 48, based at Lusaka Central Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said M’Thusani Baza Dokowe and Alex Caleb Zulu, both police officers and Samuel Baza Dokowe, an engineer, were positively identified by seven witnesses on a parade.

In this case, Francis Chipyoka, 42, is jointly charged with M’Thusani Baza Dokowe, 29, Zulu, 30, and Samuel Baza Dokowe, 37.

The four are charged with murder, contrary to Section 200 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. Particulars of the offence allege that the four, in Lusaka, jointly and while acting together with other unknown persons, murdered Guntila Muleya.

During trial before Justice Vincent Siloka, Chanda said he conducted two identification parades; the first for Zulu and M’Thusani Dokowe, and another for Samuel Dokowe.

“I was appointed officer in charge of an identification parade which was in the case of murder contrary to Section 200 Chapter 87 of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia, in which Mr Guntila Muleya, the deceased, was allegedly murdered by Caleb Alex Zulu, Dokowe and Mr Samuel Dokowe. I conducted two identification parades. The first one was for Caleb Zulu and M’Thusani Dokowe. I had about six witnesses who were supposed to identify the two, and the same witnessed [the] picking of the deceased, Guntila Muleya, at Mika Convention Center. Before I could conduct an identification parade, I had to select eight people from our police custody of almost the similar features of the two accused [persons], that is the complexion, height and also the body structures. We made them wear black t-shirts,” he said.

“Before I could conduct the identification parade, I explained their rights, that they should invite their lawyers to be present during the procession of the identification parade. Zulu requested a phone call and contacted their counsel, he requested from me. They called and told me that their counsel advised them to go ahead even without him.

The whole process was being captured by the scenes of crime officer, Detective Inspector Katai. We proceeded with the identification parade. I asked them how they were feeling, and if they were okay to proceed. Although they looked like their legs were swollen, they insisted that we proceed with the identification parade”.

Chanda said the three accused persons were positively identified by the witnesses.

“I started the identification parade around 14:00 hours. The first witness, Mr William Shawa, the police reserve, was with the two accused while they were picking the accused, Guntila Muleya. The first witness came and identified both Caleb Zulu and M’Thusani Baza on both positions. The next witness, Mr Rogers Banda was also called after they changed their position. The second witness identified both.

The third witness was also called, Mr Frank Kampamba, who also came and identified only Mithusani Baza Dokowe on different positions. The fourth witness was Richard Kapili, who also identified M’Thusani Baza Dokowe, also in different positions. The fifth was Chanda Kalale, who was coming from the car hiring company and he identified both Alex Zulu and M’Thusani Baza Dokowe. The last one was Jacob Banda, a worker for Mika Convention Center, who also identified only Caleb Alex Zulu,” Chanda said.

“I started with the second identification parade which was for Samuel Basa Dokowe. I did the same by selecting eight accused [persons] from custody who had a similar feature of Samuel Baza Dokowe and I also explained his rights to invite his counsel but he decided to do it without his counsel. On this identification parade, I only had one witness, Mulenga Simukoko, also a worker at Mika convention center. I proceeded with the identification parade, while the same scenes of crime officer was capturing the process. The witness was called to come and do the identification and he positivity identified Samuel Baza Dokowe”.

Asked during cross examination whether he had no contact with the witnesses who had identified the accused persons after the parade, Chanda said he spoke to them.

Asked whether they had told him who they came to identify, Chanda said only Shawa did so.

The matter was adjourned to a later date for continued trial.

LITHIUM LOCKDOWN? Industry Group Warns: “Strategy Needed, Not Shock Bans!”

LITHIUM LOCKDOWN? Industry Group Warns: “Strategy Needed, Not Shock Bans!”

Zimbabwe’s glittering lithium reserves could power its rise in the global green economy but only if handled with care, says the Centre for Natural Resource Governance (CNRG).

In a strongly worded statement, CNRG backed calls for mineral beneficiation and value addition but raised red flags over the government’s sudden ban on raw lithium exports. The group argues the move was rolled out without sufficient consultation or a clear transition plan risking serious economic fallout.

Among the dangers? Disrupted mining operations, shaken investor confidence, potential job losses, and a sharp dip in much-needed foreign currency earnings.

CNRG insists beneficiation cannot be achieved by export bans alone. It requires reliable electricity, water, transport networks, capital investment, skilled labour, and crucially, policy stability.

The watchdog is now urging authorities to adopt a phased, well-structured transition with broad stakeholder dialogue and firm legal guarantees warning that without strategy, Zimbabwe’s lithium dream could lose its shine.

Respect Lambas, Respect our Language and Culture

It is Time for us Lambas to rise and fight for our Language, Tribe, Culture and Heritage, we’ve seen how they’ve been trying to shut us from speaking our Language and Promoting our Culture, we’ve sacrificed a lot for this country yet we’re treated as a minority Tribe, yet we have more Chiefdoms than other Tribes considered Major Tribe’s, the government continues to teach our Children a foreign Language on our own Land.

They’ve been trying to erase our history so that they can claim our Land, they’ve been trying to Branch us as part of another tribe, a tribe which  our People didn’t even know even existed till they came to work on the Mines in our territory, they’ve gone as far as disrespecting our Chiefs, by suggesting that they’re Paramount Chief has Power over Our Land’s which is not true.

Zambians call western ku Bulozi or Barotseland, Southern as Kubu Tonga or cuundu, Northern as Kubu Bemba, when we call the Copperbelt as Kwi Lamba or Lambaland, you get upset, you don’t like the fact that the Copperbelt is Lambaland.

As Lamba-Lima People we want the abolishment of teaching Bemba in all schools on the Copperbelt, and some parts of Central Province and introduce the language of Land rather than imposing a foreign Language on us, and those who feel like their Children can’t Learn our Language should take their Children to region’s of their Preferred Language.

↘️A Hasty and Silent Burial

Residents contacted in the area describe a rapid burial conducted under tight security in a tense environment.

There was no public announcement and no formal communication from the rebel coalition regarding the exact circumstances of either his death or his burial.

For a figure who served as the public face of the movement’s military messaging, observers say the absence of official honors is striking.

↘️Silence From Leadership

To date, leaders of M23-RDF-AFC have not issued a statement confirming or clarifying the details surrounding Ngoma’s death or interment.

That silence has fueled speculation locally, particularly given his strategic and media role within the movement.

Within circles close to the rebellion, some voices have quietly questioned what they describe as a lack of respect toward a senior figure.

“Even in times of conflict, human dignity should prevail,” one local source said anonymously.

↘️Questions and Internal Strains

The circumstances of the burial have also highlighted possible internal tensions within armed groups operating in Masisi, a highly contested and strategically significant area of North Kivu.

According to available information, the family was not involved in decisions regarding funeral arrangements.

As of now, uncertainty remains over the full details of both his death and the reasons behind the clandestine burial.

LUCKY DUBE’S KILLER SAYS IT WAS A MISTAKE

BREAKING NEWS: LUCKY DUBE’S KILLER SAYS IT WAS A MISTAKE

The man convicted for the 2007 murder of South African reggae icon Lucky Dube says he thought the singer was pulling out a gun. He now claims he panicked and opened fire.

According to reports, Lucky Dube was not armed. He was simply reaching for his car keys when the shooting happened. The incident shocked the whole country and left fans heartbroken.

Sifiso Mhlanga reportedly shared with his former cellmate, Bra Mandla, that he regrets what he did. He says it was not planned that way. But the damage was already done. A legend was gone.

After failing to hijack his car, the three men involved were later arrested and sentenced to life in prison. South Africans demanded justice, and the courts responded.

Even years later, the pain of losing Lucky Dube still feels fresh for many people. His music continues to live on, but the loss remains heavy.

Iraqi fighters told to prepare for a long war with U.S.

An Iran-backed Iraqi militia has issued a direct warning to Washington, saying American forces would face severe consequences if the United States launches strikes on Iran.

The group, Kataeb Hezbollah, declared that its fighters are preparing for a prolonged regional conflict and could intervene if Tehran comes under attack. Commanders stated that any strike on Iran would be treated as a direct threat to their movement and to the broader “axis of resistance.”

The militia warned that U.S. troops stationed across the Middle East would face “immense losses,” adding that their response would be more aggressive than in previous confrontations…particularly if any military action is perceived as an attempt to overthrow the Iranian government.

The warning comes amid heightened tensions in the region, raising concerns that any direct clash between Washington and Tehran could quickly expand into a wider regional war involving armed groups in Iraq, Syria, and beyond.

Trump FREAKS OUT and orders federal agencies to stop using Anthropic’s AI after company refuses to allow it to power killer drones and surveil Americans

BREAKING: Trump FREAKS OUT and orders federal agencies to stop using Anthropic’s AI after company refuses to allow it to power killer drones and surveil Americans.

Donald Trump threw a full-scale tantrum on Truth Social Friday, ordering all federal agencies to “immediately cease” using technology from Anthropic, the safety-conscious AI company that had the audacity to say no to autonomous killer drones and mass domestic surveillance of American citizens.

The meltdown came after days of escalating tensions between Anthropic and Trump’s “Department of War” over whether the Pentagon could use Claude, Anthropic’s AI model, for literally whatever it wanted, legal guardrails be damned.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei held firm, refusing to sign a contract that used legal language allowing the military to bypass any safeguards “at will.” His position was simple: don’t let AI autonomously kill people or spy on Americans without oversight. Apparently, to Trump, that makes you a “radical left woke company.”

The irony is almost too much to bear. While Trump screams that Anthropic is “putting American lives at risk,” intelligence analysts at the NSA and CIA are now scrambling — because they depend on Claude to sift through communications intercepts and intelligence reports. Former officials say CIA analysts are “anxious” to keep access to a tool that has genuinely deepened their national security work.

So, what’s Trump’s brilliant replacement plan? Grok — the AI built by his buddy Elon Musk. Government officials, both current and former, already consider it an inferior product. Grok is the AI system that spewed out racist and antisemitic content without prompting and once called itself “MechaHitler.”

But who needs quality when you have loyalty?

In a remarkable show of solidarity, nearly 225 employees from OpenAI and Google signed an open letter backing Anthropic’s stance, warning that the Pentagon was trying to “divide each company with fear.” Even Silicon Valley’s fiercest competitors recognized what was really happening: a power-hungry administration trying to bully a private company into handing over unchecked AI capabilities.

Senator Mark Warner said the quiet part loud: this looks less like national security policy and more like political retaliation dressed up in all-caps Truth Social rage.

Anthropic’s red lines — no autonomous lethal weapons, no mass surveillance of Americans — aren’t radical leftism. They’re the bare minimum of responsible AI governance.

Trump just made America’s intelligence apparatus weaker to own the libs.

DETAILED COURT UPDATE BY NPA: HIGH COURT UPHOLDS LUSAMBO CONVICTIONS AS ALL SIX GROUNDS OF APPEAL STAND DISMISSED

DETAILED COURT UPDATE BY NPA:

HIGH COURT UPHOLDS LUSAMBO CONVICTIONS AS ALL SIX GROUNDS OF APPEAL STAND DISMISSED

Lusaka | February 27, 2026 – The Economic and Financial Crimes Division of the High Court has today dismissed all six grounds of appeal filed by former Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo, fully upholding his convictions for corruption, possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime, and tax evasion.

A panel of three judges, Lady Justices S. M. Wanjelani, P. K. Yangailo, and A. Malata-Ononuju, heard the appeal, with Lady Justice Malata-Ononuju delivering the judgment.

The State was represented by Senior State Advocate Mrs. Susan Mwamba-Besa from the General and Appeals Department in the National Prosecution Authority. She was assisted by Ms. Tendai Shumba, Senior Prosecutions Officer from the Anti-Corruption Commission and Ms. Lorraine Tembo a state Advocate from the NPA’s Economic and Financial Crimes Department.

The Appellant was represented by Mmes. D. Findlay & Associates and Makebi Zulu & Partners.

Mr. Lusambo challenged his convictions on six grounds:

  1. That the trial court lacked sufficient evidence to convict him of corruptly acquiring public property.
  2. That there was no evidence linking him to property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.
  3. That his tax evasion convictions were against the weight of evidence. As argued in the Appellant’s grounds 3, 4 and 6.
  4. That the trial court erred in evaluating and weighing the evidence.
  5. That the court’s analysis was unbalanced or biased.

The State opposed all grounds of appeal, and the Court agreed fully with their submissions. In opposition to the Appellant’s first ground of Appeal, Mrs. Besa argued that the evidence presented at the trial clearly demonstrated that Mr. Lusambo, in his capacity as Copperbelt Province Minister, orchestrated the allocation of Lot 39876/M to Frontier Management Services Limited (FMSL), a company in which he had no legal interest. The State submitted that the trial court had correctly convicted Lusambo for corruptly acquiring public property contrary to section 34(1)(a) as read with section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 3 of 2012.

According to the State, Mr. Lusambo abused his ministerial office to acquire land through FMSL, effectively bypassing the company’s directors and shareholders. Evidence before the trial court showed that in April 2017, PW1, Enerst Malangazo Sumani, then Town Clerk for Ndola City Council, was summoned to Lusambo’s office and instructed to allocate the land to FMSL.

The company’s directors and shareholders were completely unaware of the transaction, and the Chief Surveyor, Dr. Chisala, confirmed that none of the director or shareholders had contacted council officials regarding the property. Instead, Mr. Lusambo personally handled the land application, exerting pressure on council officers and threatening them with transfers should they fail to comply.

The State further highlighted that Mr. Lusambo subsequently sold the land to Jignesh Soni Prosecution Witness number 7 (PW7) for K880,000, routing the payment through Sylvia Mutale Prosecution Witness number 20 (PW20), from whom Mr. Lusambo purchased a Range Rover. Mrs. Besa emphasised that Mr. Lusambo did not dispute these facts during cross-examination, and the combined testimonies of PW1, PW7, and PW20 painted a compelling picture of fraudulent acquisition and direct abuse of ministerial authority. The Court agreed with the State that these actions clearly demonstrated the corrupt and unlawful use of public office for personal gain.

In ground two, the Appellant argued that the trial court had erred in convicting him of possession of property, namely the Range Rover, reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime, asserting that there was no evidence linking the transaction in Kitwe, the purchase of the vehicle, to the sale of property to Jignesh Soni, which he claimed was owned by Mr. Lusambo’s sister-in-law.

The State, however, contended that both the K880,000, representing the sale price of the land unlawfully acquired as discussed under ground one, and the Range Rover were inextricably linked to the corrupt acquisition of the land. This connection, the State argued, was sufficient to meet the legal definition of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime. Mr. Lusambo’s efforts to dissociate himself from these transactions, the State emphasised, were unsupported by any credible evidence, and the trial court had correctly inferred his possession and use of the funds for personal gain.

In relation to grounds three, four, and six, the Appellant stated that the trial court had erred in convicting him of tax evasion, claiming the convictions were against the weight of the evidence.

The State, however, maintained that Mr. Lusambo had willfully evaded property transfer tax on three distinct properties. These included S/D B of Farm No. 288a, Lusaka, on which $7,500 was unpaid; Lot No. 19884/M, Lusaka, with $4,250 evaded, where the sale had been falsely represented as conducted by Apache Trading Limited; and MASAI/LN-1003028/218, Masaiti, for which K7,500 remained unpaid.

The State’s position on these grounds was that Mr. Lusambo had deliberately structured the sales to avoid tax liabilities and had failed to provide any credible evidence to explain the transactions. This conduct, the Court concluded, demonstrated a clear and willful intent to evade his tax obligations.

In ground five, the Appellant argued that the trial court got it wrong in law and fact by analysing the evidence in an unbalanced manner.

In opposing this ground, the State submitted that the trial court had properly and impartially assessed the evidence before reaching its conclusions. Counsel for the Respondent argued that to sustain a conviction for possession of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime, it was necessary to prove that the accused possessed the property and that there were articulable facts giving rise to reasonable suspicion that it was derived from criminal conduct.

The State emphasised that possession was not in dispute, as the Appellant admitted purchasing properties identified and marked in court and directing that they be registered in his wife’s name. The central issue was the source of the funds. The Appellant failed to provide a credible, logical or verifiable explanation for the substantial cash and dollar payments used to acquire the properties, and the documents he relied upon did not constitute proof of payment.

The State, therefore, maintained that the trial court’s findings were grounded in objective evidence and established legal principles. The Court agreed with this argument, holding that the evidence had been analysed in a balanced and legally sound manner.

Verdict

All six grounds of appeal were dismissed. Mr. Lusambo’s convictions and sentences remain intact, reinforcing the judiciary’s commitment to holding public officials accountable for corruption, abuse of office, and financial crimes.

This judgment sends a strong signal that no one is above the law, and that attempts to manipulate public office for personal gain will be met with the full force of justice.

Hichilema deserves continuity, term limits take us backwards – Chilufya Tayali

Hichilema deserves continuity, term limits take us backwards – Tayali

ECONOMIC and Equity Party (EEP) leader Chilufya Tayali is advocating against presidential term limits, describing them as a setback to national development.

The opposition leader expressed support for continued leadership under President Hakainde Hichilema.

In a video posted on his Facebook page last night, Tayali said limiting the number of terms a president can serve destabilises countries by forcing frequent leadership changes.

Tayali said he was speaking in his personal capacity and not on behalf of any government institution.

“I’m against that presidential limit and this is me. I’m not in government. I’m not anywhere,” he said.

He argued that while elections should continue to be held every five years, voters, not constitutional limits should determine whether a leader remains in office.

“We should maintain five-year elections but remove term limits. If a leader performs poorly, we can vote them out, just as we did with Edgar Lungu. But if a leader performs well, we should not restrict ourselves from re-electing them.”

“We must stop blindly imitating other countries like the United States and instead govern ourselves according to what truly works for us,” Tayali added.

He said constant changes in leadership take countries backwards, adding that this informed his decision to support President Hichilema.

“Presidential limits are changing leaders now and then. It takes our country backwards. That is why I am supporting Hakainde Hichilema today,” he said.

“I want him to continue because he has sown seeds which are germinating now. What is this germination? Germination in terms of investment. You have seen investor confidence. Investor confidence does not come when there’s instability. Investor confidence does not come in an environment where leaders are always changing. It doesn’t,”

Edgar Lungu’s son wants State to give him back 79 vehicles

Dalitso Lungu wants State to give him back 79 vehicles

EDGAR Lungu’s son, Dalitso wants the State to give him back the 79 vehicles and 25 other properties his ‘loving’ daddy gifted to him.

Through his lawyers, Messrs Malisa and Partners, Dalitso and his company, Saloid Traders Limited, have filed a Notice of Intention to Appeal and a Memorandum of Appeal challenging the February 9, 2026 judgment of the Economic and Financial Crimes Court (EFCC).

The lower court had ordered the forfeiture of the fleet of vehicles valued at over K24 million and multiple pieces of land dotted across the country after finding that the properties were “tainted” and reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.

But Dalitso now argues that the High Court judges erred in law and in fact when they concluded that the properties were proceeds of crime without identifying any specific serious offence allegedly committed.

In his grounds of appeal, Dalitso contends that the court wrongly shifted the burden of proof onto him after the State established what it termed “reasonable grounds to suspect” the properties were tainted.

He argues that this approach contravened Sections 31 and 34 of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act and effectively reversed the statutory burden of proof.

Dalitso further argues that the court misdirected itself by premising the Non-Conviction Based Forfeiture Order on Section 71 of the Act instead of limiting itself to Sections 29 and 31.

He also faults the court for allegedly departing from binding authority in the case of Sydney Mwansa v The Director of Public Prosecutions (Appeal No. 276/2021) decided on June 11, 2024, which he says is the highest judicial authority on the interpretation of non-conviction based forfeiture provisions.

In another ground, the former first son claims the court rejected his unchallenged affidavit evidence that his late daddy financed the purchase of some of the properties, while at the same time accepting what he describes as hearsay evidence from the State.

He further argues that the court erred in accepting the State’s valuation of the motor vehicles at over K23 million without independent or credible valuation evidence.

“The Court below erred in law and in fact in accepting the Respondent’s assertion that the aggregate value of the motor vehicles… was ZMW 23,050,842.49 when this figure was not supported by any independent or credible evidence of valuation,”said Dalitso.

“The Court below erred in law and in fact when it rejected the Appellants’ unchallenged affidavit evidence that the late former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu financed the purchase of certain properties.”

The appeal also seeks to challenge the decision to condemn him in costs.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, under the National Prosecution Authority, had successfully applied for Non-Conviction Based Forfeiture after investigations revealed that Dalitso and his company possessed unexplained wealth running into tens of millions of kwacha, far exceeding their declared income.

In its February 9 judgment, the EFCC held that investigations conducted at ZRA and other institutions showed that neither Dalitso nor Saloid Traders Limited had the financial capacity to acquire the properties in the manner and at the rate they did.

The EFCC said that Dalitso cannot innocently claim to have been gifted a filling station by his father as the manner in which the land in Jack compound was obtained from the Lusaka City Council, gifted to him and later leased to Total Energies has no legal foundation.

In forfeiting his 79 vehicles and 25 pieces of land the Court said Dalitso had alleged that he used profits from his businesses and claimed that he was a commercial farmer yet he could not mention a single crop that he sowed or reaped and any livestock he reared nor mention a single name of the people he sold his farm produce to, which makes the property tainted.

The Court said the failure to prove the source of his funds to purchase property way beyond his legitimate income proves that the same was illegally obtained.

In this matter that State had moved a motion before the EFCC to have 69 vehicles worth over K24 million and 25 pieces of land dotted across the country in Kanakantapa of Chongwe district, Chibombo, Chisamba, Solwezi, Masaiti in Ndola district, Chilanga, Petauke and Nakonde belonging to Dalitso confiscated.

The ECL family is the one delaying the burial of Edgar Lungu and not Government- Speaker Nelly Mutti

Family, not government holds key to Lungu’s burial

THE family of the late former President Edgar Lungu, is the only authority that can withdraw the ongoing burial case in the South African Supreme Court, Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti has said.

The speaker was responding to Matero member of parliament Miles Sampa, who in parliament yesterday questioned why Lungu has not yet been laid to rest.

Sampa described the delay as unchristian, contrary to Zambian culture and values, adding that it undermines the nation’s principles.

He appealed to Vice President Mutale Nalumango and Minister of Justice Princess Kasune to intervene, and urged Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha to withdraw the case.

“I am appealing that we bury President Lungu so that this country can move forward. I urge the Vice President and Minister of Justice to speak to the Attorney General to withdraw the case and allow us to lay our president to rest.”

” He is your former president and our president, let us unite and ensure he is buried, eight months after his passing,” Sampa said.

In response, Mutti emphasised that the government has no authority to act in the matter.

“If there is anyone who can withdraw the matter, it is the Lungu family. They are the ones who went to court. How can the Vice President or Minister of Justice withdraw a matter they didn’t start or bring? Get your facts right,” she said.

She also directed Sampa to help facilitate the return of Lungu’s body to Zambia for burial.

“Matero MP, you even make us laugh as if this is a joke, but it’s a serious matter. I thought the ball was in your court, being the leader on that side. Why can’t you ensure the body is brought back so it can be buried? We all have a role to play, but I believe you have a bigger responsibility here, and we are waiting on you to act,” she stated.

Lungu, passed away on June 5, 2025, but he remains unburied eight months later due to an ongoing legal dispute between his family and the Zambian government over the repatriation and final resting place of his remains.

On February 9, the Lungu family appealed against the judgment of the Pretoria High Court which ordered Lungu’s remains to be handed over to the Zambian government for repatriation and burial in this country.

PORTRAYING THE PRESIDENT IN A COFFIN – DARK HUMOR GONE TOO FAR

By Kellys Kaunda

I can defend a lot of things including the decriminalization of all insult laws even if directed at me but I ll never defend portraying the living in a coffin.

This is dark humor gone too far. This is as sickening as wishing someone dead.

In life, there’re lines you don’t cross. And wishing someone dead, let alone, portraying them in a coffin, is one of them.

No matter how strongly you dislike President Hichilema, never wish him dead.

He may not be useful to you but he is definitely useful to many other people.

The office he occupies is not a personal office to warrant personal attacks.

Instead, he occupies a public office where the currency of trade is public policy.

So, argue with him on these matters and leave matters of personal health, life and death to himself and God.

Until I saw that image of him in the coffin, I didn’t know that I’d feel emotionally affected if he died.

It reminded me of the day when Mwanawasa died. Until that day, the man was just a distant figure to me.

But I found myself shedding a tear on the news of his passing away.

I realized that no one should wish anyone dead, let alone make a joke out of it.

To the President, may the good Lord see you way into your old age with abundant health.

‘I have over 50 fibroids’ – Actress Lupita Nyong’o reveals

U.S.-born Kenyan American actress Lupita Nyong’o, famous for her presence in the movie ‘The Black Panther’, has revealed that she has over 50 uterine fibroids, a condition where noncancerous growths form on the uterus and can lead to debilitating symptoms like heavy menstrual bleeding, long periods, pelvic pain, frequent urination, and constipation.

Recently, Nyong’o appeared on an American Talk Show and talked about her experience with fibroids.

She highlighted that she realized she had the condition in 2014.

“The first time I got the fibroids taken out, they took out 23, and this time, I’ve been informed two years ago that I have over 50. And I’m being faced with the same options, Surgery or live with the pain,” she said.

The 42-year-old star said she hasn’t decided yet whether to go for a myomectomy, a surgery to remove fibroids while preserving the uterus.

“I’m not ready to make that decision,” she shared. “It’s quite invasive… and it’s a big threat to our reproductive organs.”

Nyong’o has appeared in movies like The Black Panther, The Wild Robot, 12 Years a Slave, and many more.

Uterine fibroids are not only affecting women in other countries, as in Malawi, reports indicate that 375 fibroid cases were registered at Mzuzu and Queen Elizabeth Central hospitals in 2025, and out of 250 uterine fibroids registered at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, 26 were operated on.

Meanwhile, a study by the University of the Free State in South Africa has found that some sanitary pads and pantyliners sold in South Africa contain hormone-disrupting chemicals, which may also be contributing to the prevalence rate of fibroids in women.

WESTERN PROVINCE RESIDENTS HAIL HICHILEMA AS ‘MIRACLE PRESIDENT’

WESTERN PROVINCE RESIDENTS HAIL HICHILEMA AS ‘MIRACLE PRESIDENT’

Residents of Western Province have nicknamed President Hakainde Hichilema the “Miracle President,” citing a wave of development projects and social programmes implemented under his administration.

The development was disclosed in Parliament by Sikongo Member of Parliament Mayungo Simushi during Vice President’s Question Time.

Simushi praised the President’s leadership and the work of the ruling UPND in the region.

According to Simushi, the nickname stemmed from initiatives such as the introduction of free education and increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations.

He said the people of Western Province were proud of the Head of State’s performance, adding that visible infrastructure development, including the construction of classroom blocks and improved water access in Sikongo and other parts of the province, had earned him widespread support ahead of this year’s elections.

In response, Vice President Mutale Nalumango said a miracle is typically something unexpected, yet significant, and that this description reflected the progress recorded under President Hichilema’s tenure

Nalumango highlighted what she described as key achievements of the government, including job creation and the reinstatement of meal allowances in higher learning institutions.

She noted that in the past, some students had dropped out of school due to a lack of financial support, but that the restoration of meal allowances had eased such challenges.

The Vice President further called on political opponents to acknowledge the tangible progress made under President Hichilema’s leadership, stating that the administration had delivered meaningful change for citizens.

MKWANAZI CLEARED! High Court Crushes Claims of Crime and Corruption

The KwaZulu-Natal High Court has delivered a dramatic victory for KwaZulu-Natal’s police boss, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

In a ruling handed down in Durban, the court found in favour of Lt-Gen Mkhwanazi in his legal showdown with businessman Calvin Mathibeli. Mathibeli has been ordered to retract all statements suggesting that Mkhwanazi is corrupt, a criminal, or that he abuses his authority and orchestrates unlawful killings.

In a significant twist, the court ruled that any allegations made during mainstream media interviews must be withdrawn using the very same platforms where they were first aired. Mathibeli is also barred from repeating the claims in any form.

Adding to the blow, the businessman has been ordered to foot the legal bill for the court application capping off a decisive courtroom triumph for the embattled top cop.

M23 WARLORD SULTANI MAKENGA APPARENTLY ‘DIES’ IN A KAMPALA HOSPITAL

M23 WARLORD SULTANI MAKENGA APPARENTLY ‘DIES’ IN A KAMPALA HOSPITAL

KAMPALA — Shockwaves are rippling across the Great Lakes region after the rebel group March 23 Movement (M23) claimed its longtime battlefield commander Sultani Makenga has DIED from injuries in Kampala.

In a dramatic communiqué from Goma dated February 25, the rebels say Makenga was wounded on February 24 and later succumbed to his injuries at a Ugandan hospital.

The statement, signed by Chief of Staff Alumba Lukamba Omokoko, describes Makenga’s death as a “huge loss” to their so-called revolutionary struggle.

But here’s the twist  — there is STILL NO independent confirmation from Kinshasa, regional mediators, or the United Nations.

 DRONE STRIKE DRAMA

Makenga’s reported death comes just days after a deadly drone strike near Rubaya that killed M23 spokesperson Willy Ngoma.

Sources say Makenga was near the blast zone when the strike happened. Was he critically wounded there? Was he secretly evacuated to Kampala? The full story remains murky.

Meanwhile, M23 is accusing the Kinshasa government of violating the Doha peace framework — escalating tensions even further.

⚔️ WHO WAS MAKENGA?

Born in Rutshuru, North Kivu, Makenga wasn’t just another commander. He was widely seen as the military backbone of M23’s operations in eastern DR Congo for over a decade.

If confirmed, his death could:

 Shake up M23’s command structure

 Intensify factional power struggles

️ Complicate fragile ceasefire talks

 Shift the entire trajectory of the eastern Congo conflict

For now, it’s a waiting game. No official word yet from the Congolese government.

Is this the end of an era for M23 — or the beginning of a new, more dangerous chapter?

EPSTEIN FILES BOMBSHELL! 500 terabytes of FBI data compromised in massive cyber intrusion

0

BREAKING: EPSTEIN FILES BOMBSHELL! 500 terabytes of FBI data compromised in massive cyber intrusion.

Just when you thought the Epstein saga couldn’t get murkier, here comes another bombshell: a staggering 500 terabytes of FBI data — including material tied to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation — was reportedly compromised in a 2023 cyber intrusion.

According to a newly unearthed Justice Department file cited by Raw Story, FBI Special Agent Aaron Spivack detailed what he described as a “potential hack” into the Bureau’s New York office. In a sworn 2024 statement, Spivack wrote that agents noticed “strange IP activity” from two addresses that were “combing through certain files pertaining to the Epstein investigation.”

If the fact that someone was rummaging through Epstein investigation files doesn’t blow your mind, we’re not sure what will.

Spivack later stated that “500 terabytes of data” were lost in the breach. While roughly 400 terabytes were eventually recovered, that still leaves about 100 terabytes gone — a digital black hole of investigative material.

This alleged intrusion occurred in 2023, under the Biden administration. But it adds to a long, troubling pattern of chaos and controversy surrounding the Epstein case. Under the Trump administration, the FBI reportedly issued a “stand down” order to NYPD investigators just days after Epstein’s 2019 arrest. Now, years later, critical files appear to have been exposed — or worse.

And that’s not all.

The Justice Department has already acknowledged it possesses at least 2.5 million additional Epstein-related files that it has no plans to release. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has said those documents will remain sealed. Meanwhile, the files that have been made public have drawn criticism for heavy redactions and alleged withholding of material — including records said to contain serious allegations involving powerful figures.

So let’s recap: millions of files unreleased. Hundreds of terabytes compromised by unknown hackers. Redactions everywhere. And a case involving one of the most connected sex traffickers in modern history.

The American people were promised transparency. What they’re getting instead looks like a digital Bermuda Triangle.

When it comes to Epstein, the questions keep multiplying — and the data keeps disappearing.

Bill Clinton HAMMERS GOP hypocrisy in his statement to Oversight, demanding JUSTICE for Epstein survivors. He didn’t plead the 5th, and he didn’t hold back

0

Bill Clinton HAMMERS GOP hypocrisy in his statement to Oversight, demanding JUSTICE for Epstein survivors. He didn’t plead the 5th, and he didn’t hold back:

As someone who grew up in a home with domestic abuse, not only would I not have flown on his plane if I had any inkling of what he was doing—I would have turned him in myself and led the call for justice for his crimes, not sweetheart deals.

I’m here today for two reasons. The first is that I love my country. And America was built upon the idea that no person is above the law, even Presidents—especially Presidents.

Democracy requires every person to play their part, and I hope that by being here today, we can bring ourselves a little further away from the brink and back to being a country where we can disagree with one another civilly—where the search for truth and justice outweighs the partisan urge to score points and create spectacle. I’ll do my part, and I hope you’ll do yours.

The second reason I’m here is that the girls and women whose lives Jeffrey Epstein destroyed deserve not only justice, but healing. They’ve been waiting too long for both.

Though my brief acquaintance with Epstein ended years before his crimes came to light, and though I never witnessed during our limited interactions any indication of what was truly going on, I am here to offer what little I know so that it might prevent anything like this from ever happening again.

But before we start, I have to get personal. You made Hillary come in. She had nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein. Nothing. She has no memory of even meeting him. She neither traveled with him nor visited any of his properties.

Whether you subpoenaed 10 people or 10,000, including her was simply not right.

We began this hearing with me raising my hand and taking an oath to tell the truth. But everyone has a responsibility to be honest with those they represent. Whether you raised your right hand or not, each and every one of us owes nothing less than truth and accuracy to the American people.

Now, let me say what you’re going to hear from me.

First you noide me thave me things at at the eid of the day eiter many
than your interpretation of those 20-year-old photos.

I know what I saw, and more importantly, what I didn’t see.

I know what I did, and more importantly, what I didn’t do.

I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong.

But even with 20/20 hindsight, I saw nothing that ever gave me pause. We are only here because he hid it from everyone so well for so long. And by the time it came to light with his 2008 guilty plea, I had long stopped associating with him.

You’ll often hear me say that I don’t recall. That might be unsatisfying. But I’m not going to say something I’m not sure of. This was all a long time ago. And I am bound by my oath not to speculate, or to guess. This is not merely for my benefit, but because it doesn’t help you for me to play detective 24 years later.

Since I am under oath, I will not falsely state that I am looking forward to your questions. But I am ready to answer them to the best of my abilities, consistent with the facts as I know them: the legitimate, the logical, and even the outlandish.

With that, Mr. Chairman, fire away.

DR CONGO SIGNS $1.2 BILLION  HEALTH DEAL WITH TRUMP’S AMERICA — BUT NOTHING GOES FOR NOTHING!

RHUMBA: DRC SAYS YES TO USA HEALTH AGREEMENT

CONGO SIGNS $1.2 BILLION DEAL WITH TRUMP’S AMERICA — BUT NOTHING GOES FOR NOTHING!

President Félix Tshisekedi just inked a massive health partnership with the United States $900M from Washington, $300M from Kinshasa. Sounds generous? Think again.

Yes, they’re targeting HIV, malaria, TB, and maternal health from 2026–2031.

But remember  Trump doesn’t write billion-dollar cheques out of love. The DRC sits on $24 trillion in untapped minerals  cobalt, coltan, lithium  the backbone of every phone, EV, and weapon on earth.

Zimbabwe said NO. Zambia said NO. They read the fine print and walked away over sovereignty concerns. What does Congo know that they don’t?

Africa, when America brings a gift with one hand  always check what the other hand is reaching for.

Zambian Govt, US Embassy Tight-Lipped On Controversial Health Deal Linked To Sensitive Health Data, Rare Earth Minerals

UPDATED – Zambian Govt, US Embassy Tight-Lipped On Controversial Health Deal Linked To Sensitive Health Data, Rare Earth Minerals

An Exclusive KBN TV Special Report

The Zambian Government and the United States of America have both remained tight-lipped over a controversial $1billion health funding deal that many believe seeks to give the US access to citizens’ health data, and a push for America to access Zambia’s rare mineral wealth.

In a dismissive response to a press query, the United States Embassy Public Affairs Section in Zambia, wrote to KBN TV: “thank you for your inquiry, we refer you to the Ministry of Health.”

State House Communication Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka, could neither respond to a press inquiry sent to him nor answer follow up calls seeking to confirm international media reports that Zambia had rejected the proposed $1bn health funding linked to citizen’s data access and rare earth minerals.

Post publication, Hamasaka responded in a WhatsApp text saying “As far as I know, negotiations are still ongoing. But get more details from the Ministry of Health.”

But a Ministry of Health official, told KBN TV separately that “there will be no comment yet on this story.” Another anonymous source close to the deal told KBN TV “as far as we are concerned, the deal is still on the table as we have not received anything to the contrary from the Government of Zambia.”

Speculation is rife over the reasons why President Hakainde Hichilema recently fired former Minister of Health, Elijah Muchima unceremoniously.
Some sections of society have tried to frame Muchima, accusing him of not voting for Bill 7, contrary to Parliament records showing that 135 MPs voted (Yes) with zero record of anyone voting (No). This record proves that the former Health Minister, voted for the divisive and hard fought Bill 7.

On February 19, 2026, two civil society organisations: Chapter One Foundation and LCK Freedom Foundation, appealed to the Government of the Republic of Zambia to immediately publish the MoU purported to have been signed with the USA Government in relation to health aid to Zambia.

The two organisations demanded that the UPND administration must ensure that any health aid agreements respect the Constitution of Zambia, protect the privacy and dignity of citizens, and prioritise the health and welfare of ordinary Zambians above all other interests.

Although several sources talked to believe no MoU has been signed yet, the silence from both the U.S Government and the UPND administration about the contents of an MoU kept secret from public scrutiny, has sparked speculation that America is proposing a very predatory deal.

“It’s a very bad deal, but we don’t have an option for the health sector if the USA doesn’t give us the money. We don’t have a plan B. I’m very curious to know how Zimbabwe will navigate their health problems, they must have a plan B,” another source close to the deal said.

In May 2025, the United States announced plans to cut $50 million in assistance for medicines and medical supplies due to the unaddressed systematic theft of such products.

However, the USA, which was critical of the UPND administration and cancelled support to the health sector, has suddenly rebound with quiet overtures to negotiate a new health deal laden with selfish commercial interests, according to those who have had sight of the proposed MoU.

“The US Government was too quick to announce the USD 50 million aid cut to the Zambian health sector citing corruption. The Trump administration later realised that without a viable health deal, it had weakened its bargaining power to access rare earth minerals to counter the scale and influence of China in exploiting Zambia’s mineral wealth.  That’s why the U.S came back to the negotiating table with a USD1.5billion bait as support to the health sector,” an international analyst told KBN TV.

The U.S backpaddled after a high-level U.S. government delegation visited Lusaka to “chart a new course for U.S. health assistance to Zambia.  The delegation-initiated discussions on the provision of significant new grant assistance from the United States to support health systems and services in Zambia over the coming five years,” the US Embassy in Zambia, announced on its website on November 17, 2025.

“This is about technological control, the USA cannot continue to have their things manufactured in China. The Zambia, USA health deal is critical to the management and control of rare earth minerals,” a source close to the USA deal told KBN TV.

Kenya and Zimbabwe Rejected the Deal

In December last year, Kenya’s High Court suspended the implementation of the country’ MoU signed with the United States following a challenge from the Consumer Federation of Kenya (COFEK) and local Senator Okiya Omtatah.

COFEK argued that the agreement contravened Kenya’s Data Protection Act, Digital Health Act, Health Act, and new data regulations that protect citizens’ health data.

In neighbouring Zimbabwe, the Emmerson Mnangagwa led administration this week rejected a US health deal that would have provided $367m (£272m) in funding over five years because of Washington’s demand for sensitive data.

The decision came to light after a government memo from December leaked, revealing that President Emmerson Mnangagwa felt the deal was “lopsided”.

A government spokesman has since revealed that the US was demanding access to biological samples for research and commercial gain but said it was not willing to share the benefits for future vaccines and treatments.

In light of actions taken in Kenya and Zimbabwe, where the “lopsided” and intrusive deals were rejected, Zambia risks being perceived weak and unable to protect both citizens and its sovereignty should the Hichilema administration sign such a predatory deal.

In January 2026, the United States government announced a travel ban into the United States for Zambian citizens on B1/B2 visitor visas.

Analysts say, such sanctions don’t give the U.S government any moral right or leverage to negotiate outrageous commercial deals with a nation its  punishing diplomatically.

Kafwaya unhappy with inclusion of Hichilema’s ‘one people’ in national motto, speaker defends

Kafwaya unhappy with inclusion of Hichilema’s ‘one people’ in national motto, speaker defends
LUNTE member of parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya has objected the inclusion of President Hakainde Hichilema’s phrase “One People” alongside Zambia’s long-standing national motto “One Zambia, One Nation,” arguing that the addition alters Kenneth Kaunda’s legacy.

The matter arose in Parliament yesterday during debate on the President’s address on national values, where Kafwaya challenged government references to “One Zambia, One Nation and One People.”

Kafwaya said Zambia officially recognises only the slogan coined by founding president Kaunda, warning that expanding it risks undermining its historical significance.

“The coat of arms carries ‘One Zambia, One Nation.’ Adding ‘One People’ dilutes the legacy of Dr Kaunda,” Kafwaya told the august House.
President Hichilema has repeatedly used the phrase to emphasise unity in diversity under his administration, describing it as a reinforcement of national cohesion.

However, Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti dismissed concerns that the inclusion departs from Kaunda’s vision, saying national ideals are not static and can evolve with time.

Mutti said future leaders have a responsibility to build on, rather than merely repeat, the country’s founding principles.
“So if Kaunda’s legacy was ‘One Zambia, One Nation,’ does that mean we cannot improve on it? We can improve on the legacy,” she said.
The speaker added that leadership requires innovation in responding to changing national circumstances.

In remarks that drew laughter in the House, Mutti likened national development to adjusting footwear to suit changing conditions.
“We cannot keep doing things the same way forever. We can’t keep wearing the same shoes whether they are big or small and continue walking in them. If the shoes are too tight, put Vaseline. If the shoes are too big, put toilet tissue or a cloth,” she said.
