2Face Blames Hackers After Announcing Divorce From Annie

Nigerian music icon, Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia, blamed hackers shortly after an Instagram post on Sunday announcing his separation from wife Annie Macaulay.

In the now-deleted post, 2Baba wrote, “Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long… Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while now and have currently filed for divorce. I will grant a press release soon to say my story, not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offense. Stay blessed my people. I love you all.”

Minutes later, the musician posted another message that reads: “My Instagram account has been hacked, efforts are being carried out to take back control. #OneLove!”

2Baba and Annie’s relationship has faced several challenges over the years, particularly in 2021 when Annie removed her husband’s surname from her Instagram bio, fueling speculations of marital discord. She later reinstated the name.

In the past, Annie accused 2Baba of maintaining inappropriate ties with his first baby mama, Pero Adeniyi, who has three children with him.

In one of her Instagram posts at the time, Annie alleged that 2Baba spent nights at Pero’s home under the guise of visiting their children.

She also accused his family members of not accepting her and called out his brother, Hyacinth Idibia, for housing 2Baba and Pero under the same roof, and the issue later escalated when 2Baba’s brother, Charles Idibia, responded by claiming Annie was controlling and that the singer was “dying slowly” in the marriage.

Following the recent Instagram post, fans believed that the divorce announcement was a publicity stunt or an emotional outburst.

Annie and 2Baba have been together for over two decades. She met 2Baba when she was just 15 years old. The duo tied the knot in Dubai in 2013 and have two children together.

2Baba has previously spoken about why he chose Annie as his wife, despite having children with other women.

He once said: “When I used to repeat just three sets of clothes, she would always hold my head, look me in the eyes, and tell me things will be fine one day. When I wasn’t handsome, she would call me her prince charming. When I wasn’t celebrated, she called me her king and said she is my number one fan and to this day, she still is,” 2Baba had said

Tottenham Players Need Help After Shock Leicester City Defeat – Postecoglou

Under-fire Tottenham Hotspur coach Ange Postecoglou has revealed that the players need help in the transfer window following a shock 2-1 defeat to Leicester City.

Tottenham have struggled with injuries to key players this season, and James Maddison missed out on action in the encounter due to injury.

Richarlison, who scored the only goal for the team, could not complete the encounter as he hobbled off the pitch with a groin injury.

Postecoglou has once again clamoured for new signings to help Tottenham end their poor run in the Premier League.

He said: “I’ve said all along, the players need help and I’ve also said the club is working hard in that area to try to alleviate some of those problems.

“Pape Sarr shouldn’t have played today. He obviously wasn’t fit. There are probably at least two who shouldn’t have been out there. They were just desperate to try to turn our fortunes around. Hopefully over the next 10 days or two weeks we should get some significant players back which I think will help this group a lot. It will give them the boost they need.

Tottenham suffered their 13th league defeat of the season to sit 15th on the log, eight points above the relegation zone.

Postecoglou was asked if he would still be in charge to reap the benefits of some players returning from injury.

He said: “Who knows mate? I’m sure there will be a fair chunk that says no. As a manager sometimes you can feel really isolated.

“I don’t because the players are still giving everything for this club and I’ve got great staff who are doing the same.”

“Certainly something I wanted to try and do when I took on this role is to try to unify the club and create an environment here where we are all focused on the one thing.

“Obviously it hasn’t worked out that way. It’s understandable, the fans are not happy with our current situation. It is a difficult one to navigate because we need them right now, especially at home to create an atmosphere.

“I have been around long enough to know that some will just judge us on where we are at the moment and rightly so in some respects. It’s not good enough. If people want to put context to that they can, if not so be it.”

Tottenham will be back in Premier League action against Brentford Gtech Community Stadium next Sunday.

By Linda Banks ©

“At the very start of your administration, I warned you about the strategic finesse required when dealing with Emmanuel Mwamba. He’s not just a journalist—he’s a tactician who thrives on chaos, and he’s masterful at lighting fires without burning himself. His method? A simple, leading question that sends the entire country into a whirlwind of speculation. And unfortunately, time and time again, your team falls right into his trap.

Take a moment to reflect on recent events. He asked a seemingly innocuous question: ‘Where is the President?’ What followed? A frenzy. Suddenly, the nation was consumed with rumors, debates, and conspiracies.

Instead of staying composed, your team not only engaged but went as far as responding to him directly—on his page, no less. For someone in such a high office, this was a grave misstep.

That’s exactly what he wanted, and now he’s twisted your response to claim he’s being threatened. The mud isn’t on him; it’s on you.

Mwamba is a puppeteer. He pulls a string, and the whole political machinery dances to his tune. Has the army changed their uniform? Boom. Another fire. And yet again, your team scrambled, with even a high commissioner jumping into the fray, a civil servant at that.

His objective? Achieved. Your response? Emotional and reactive. This is the kind of amateur engagement he counts on, and you’re delivering it to him on a silver platter.

Here’s a hard truth: Mwamba isn’t the problem—your strategy is. The more you engage him directly, the more you legitimize his provocations. You’re not just feeding the fire; you’re pouring gasoline on it.

Here’s what you need to do:
1. Ignore him. Silence is not weakness; it’s strategy. He thrives on reactions. Starve him of them.

2. Deploy your media team. You have professionals for a reason, well I hope you do. Let them handle the public discourse instead of engaging at the highest level.

3. Think before you speak. Phrases like ‘watch out’ and ‘be careful’ from a high office carry heavy connotations. Don’t give him ammunition to twist your words.

Mwamba will always test the boundaries. That’s his nature. But the question is, will you keep playing his game, or will you finally rewrite the rules?”

UPND SECRETARY  STRONGLY CONDEMNS TONSE ALLIANCE (FORMERLY PF) PERPETRATED ELECTORAL VIOLENCE IN MINGA WARD OF PETAUKE

UPND SECRETARY  STRONGLY CONDEMNS TONSE ALLIANCE (FORMERLY PF) PERPETRATED ELECTORAL VIOLENCE IN MINGA WARD OF PETAUKE

On behalf of the United Party for National Development (UPND) and on my own behalf, I would like to warn  the TONSE Alliance  members (formerly PF), who attacked the United Party for National Development (UPND)  campaign camp in Minga Ward of Petauke yesterday to desist from violence and campaign in a civilized manner.

After sensing danger that they would lose elections, Tonse Alliance started  their old politics of violence and intimidation by attacking innocent citizens. Law breakers will not end well  as this brings them in conflict with the law. We call upon the Zambia Police to strongly execute their mandate to save the lives of the Zambian people and bring the perpetrators to book. If this is their plan B, we will meet them fairly and squarely as you are operating from the wrong side of the prison gates.

We cannot allow the same PF tactics of violence in elections as this behaviour keeps citizens from playing their civic role to freely vote for candidates of their choice. President Hakainde Hichilema’s position on violence has been candid from the out set and he will not be shaken from this position.

The UPND remains a staunch supporter of a violence free electoral system  as this  shall remain a beacon of a successful democratic dispensation.

We remain  resolute to ensuring that all by-elections are free and fair devoid of the Patriotic Front (PF) violence which Zambians rejected in 2021.

Electoral violence should never again form part of our Electoral system as was the case under the PF.

It is for the above reason  that from  the time the UPND took over leadership, sanity has been restored in Zambia’s electoral system, and this is not by accident, but by design as this is the message which resonated with the people of Zambia when we were campaigning to take over the mantle of leadership.

We call upon all like-minded citizens to condemn the (TONSE Alliance formerly PF) in the strongest terms for causing violence in Minga ward of Petauke.

The UPND shall formally report the perpetrators to the police so that law and order is maintained.

REJECT UPND CANDIDATE TO PRESERVE YOUR DIGNITY, PETAUKE RESIDENTS URGED

….Zambians expect the people of Petauke to make a wise decision of NOT voting for the UPND candidate, says Dr M’membe

Petauke… Sunday January 26, 2025

Socialist Party (SP) President Dr Fred M’membe has urged the people of Petauke to vote against the UPND candidate in preference for JULIUS MWALE in the forthcoming parliamentary by-election to preserve their dignity.

Dr. M’membe says it will not only be shocking but also dissapointing if the people of Petauke will make a mistake of voting for a UPND candidate whose party orchestrated the February 6 parliamentary by-election.

He said looking at how the UPND have treated the immediate past area Member of Parliament Hon Emmanuel Jay Banda, it would not be prudent to vote for the UPND candidate.

The SP leader says this is a big by-election and is causing the UPND to have sleepless nights and that the nation is looking forward to the outcome of the by-election next month.

“Who has caused Jay Jay Banda to be on the run? Who has caused the by-election here? Who incarcerated Jay Jay Banda? It’s the UPND, and you want to vote for them,” he questioned.

“It’s like a críminàl comes to your house, kills your husband and later on return that your children are suffering because you don’t have a husband. The críminàl asks you to marry him so that he looks after the children. Will you agree? Will even your relatives consent to such a marriage? We will be shocked if you people opt to vote for a UPND candidate. Show them that they can’t have it easy here,” Dr M’membe stated.

He further said it is inhumane for the UPND officials to mock the people of Petauke that due to hunger and high poverty levels, they will use money to buy their votes.

“The UPND are saying you can’t reason well because of hunger and the high poverty levels. Yes there is hunger and have high poverty levels, but they should not mock you. According to 2022 census, Eastern Province is number five in terms of poverty levels which stands at 76.4%. Before that, it was at 70% but it has worsened. That’s why the UPND are saying you sale them your voters cards and NRCs for small money.”

President Hichilema Disobeys Court Judgment, Diverts K10.2 Million Meant for Illegally Fired Times of Zambia Employees to UPND Cadres- Kasonde Mwenda C -EFF President

Urgent Press Statement

SCANDAL: President Hichilema Disobeys Court Judgment, Diverts K10.2 Million Meant for Illegally Fired Times of Zambia Employees to UPND Cadres- Kasonde Mwenda C -EFF President

26 January 2025

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) strongly condemns the blatant and immoral actions of President Hakainde Hichilema, who has willfully defied a court judgment by failing to pay benefits owed to *40 unlawfully dismissed employees of Times of Zambia Newspaper. Instead, he has chosen to divert a staggering K10.2 million meant for these employees to compensate UPND cadres under dubious and politically motivated circumstances.*

Upon assuming office in 2021, President Hichilema, in his capacity as Chairperson of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) Board under which Times PrintPak (Times of Zambia) falls, illegally dismissed 40 employees without cause or notice. These dismissals were not only abrupt but were conducted in clear violation of established redundancy procedures.

On 29 January 2024, the Lusaka High Court ruled in favor of the aggrieved employees and issued the following directives:

Declared the redundancy unlawful due to the failure to follow proper procedure.
Awarded each complainant six months’ salary as damages for the unlawful termination.

Directed the payment of redundancy gratuity equivalent to three months’ basic salary for each year of service.
Ordered the payment of full salaries from December 2021 until the redundancy gratuity is settled in full.

However, instead of honoring this court judgment, *President Hichilema has flagrantly diverted funds meant for these employees to pay a total of K10.2 million to 17 UPND cadres. This payment, under the guise of “compensation for false imprisonment,” was confirmed and widely reported by public and private media, including ZNBC, Daily Nation, and News Diggers, on 28 August 2024. Each cadre received K600,000, while K800,000 was allocated to their legal fees.*

This is a shocking act of lawlessness and mismanagement of public funds. The President’s decision to prioritize party loyalists over the legally entitled former Times of Zambia employees is not only morally reprehensible but a direct affront to the rule of law and democracy.

As things stand, the 40 unlawfully dismissed employees continue to languish in poverty, waiting for justice and their rightful benefits while the treasury is being depleted to enrich a select group of UPND cadres. This irresponsible and unethical behavior undermines public trust in governance and demonstrates President Hichilema’s disregard for judicial authority.

The EFF demands that the President immediately adhere to the court judgment and ensure that the illegally dismissed Times of Zambia employees are paid their benefits without further delay. We also call on all Zambians to hold the government accountable for its continued assault on democracy and the rule of law.

This abuse of power and misallocation of resources is a betrayal of the people of Zambia and a stain on the office of the Presidency. We will not remain silent in the face of such injustice and will continue to fight for the rights of all Zambians.

Wherever we want to go our feet will take us there.

POLITICAL INTIMIDATION AGAINST WOMEN MUST END…says SP Women, as they denounce ‘Zambia’s shrinking democratic space’

POLITICAL INTIMIDATION AGAINST WOMEN MUST END

…says SP Women, as they denounce ‘Zambia’s shrinking democratic space’

Mpongwe… Sunday January 26, 2025

The Socialist Party (SP) National Women’s League has strongly condemned the deliberate political intimidation against women in Zambia, calling for an immediate end to such oppressive tactics.

Speaking on the state of democracy in Zambia, party Women’s Chairperson Gitipher Chinyanta Kalungu stated that the democratic space under the current regime is rapidly shrinking, with women particularly bearing the brunt of targeted intimidation.

She cited the case of Mumbi Phiri, who she claimed was unjustly arrested and detained under inhumane conditions, as a glaring example of the regime’s attempts to silence dissenting voices.

Ms Kalungu revealed that Phiri endured over a year of wrongful imprisonment and an additional two weeks in Police custody under degrading conditions for a crime she did not commit.

She argued that Phiri’s real offense was her courage to speak truth to power and advocate for justice.

Ms Kalungu criticized the silence of women in leadership positions on Phiri’s plight, calling it a betrayal of their mandate to protect the rights of women.

The Socialist Party official highlighted the far-reaching consequences of political intimidation, noting that it discourages women from entering politics for fear of humiliation, arrest, or harm.

She emphasized that excluding women from leadership roles is detrimental to Zambia’s democracy and development.

Quoting Nelson Mandela, Kalungu reminded Zambians that “freedom cannot be achieved unless women have been emancipated from all forms of oppression.”

She pointed out that women leaders have historically been instrumental in driving change and accused the regime of targeting them to stifle accountability and suppress democracy.

Ms Kalungu urged the government to halt its oppressive tactics, stating that political intimidation undermines Zambia’s democratic foundation.

She called on women aspiring to leadership roles to rise against oppression and support each other regardless of political affiliations.

In her message to Zambian women, she encouraged them not to retreat in the face of oppression.

“Now, more than ever, Zambia needs your voice, your courage, and your leadership,” she said, quoting Eleanor Roosevelt’s famous words: “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

Ms Kalungu concluded with a rallying call for solidarity, urging Zambians to stand together against political intimidation and to demand a nation where democracy thrives, women are safe to lead, and justice prevails.

“Mumbi Phiri’s story is a reminder of what is at stake,” she stated. “Hands off Mumbi Phiri and every Zambian woman who dares to stand up for what is right!”

Canada rejects Esther Lungu’s asylum request

Canada rejects Esther Lungu’s asylum request

By Dr Munyonzwe Hamalengwa

At the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, Board Room 6, Madam Mehta Nehru presiding.

Decision on the refugee claim of Madam Esther Lungu of Zambia. This is the decision on the refugee claim of Madam Esther Lungu being delivered today as I had promised when we adjourned two months ago. The hearing itself took place over a seven-day period. The hearing was heavily contested on both sides. I was presented with mountains of documents, videos, audios, books, social media accounts, newspapers and expert witnesses testified on both sides.

All documents and other aids have been marked as exhibits. The testimony of the claimant, Madam Lungu and the expert witnesses have been transcribed into transcripts and are available. I also took the liberty of independently reading about Zambia and I availed counsel of the issues I discovered on my own and sent questions to counsel to answer those issues and provided links to the sources so that counsel could also read those sources I consulted, themselves. I am grateful that counsel answered fully in writing my questions.

I should state at the outset that I found the latest US Department of State Country Report on Zambia (2021) the most neutral and objective as it was written by an independent reliable source or sources. I also found reports and books on court cases and court decisions compelling. These books and reported cases done during the previous regime of Edgar Chagwa Lungu, the husband of the present claimant and the legal cases and practices of the current regime of President Hakainde Hichilema brings the central concept of this claim into broader relief, the claim as agreed upon in prehearing conferences between myself and counsel for both sides, is based on the concepts of persecution versus prosecution. Was the experience of the claimant Esther Lungu, persecution or prosecution, especially in comparing to the practices of the Edgar Lungu regime as objectively chronicled in the book by Major Richard Kachingwe entitled “HH Destined to Rule” and Mazuba Mwiinga, “Midnight Raid: Hakainde Hichilema’s brutal taste of hate, a chronicle”.

There are certain instances when prosecution can turn into persecution. The police and military like operation against Hakainde Hichilema at his house before he was charged with the underlying charge of treason compared to the laid back call-in-notice to Esther Lungu by law enforcement agencies to answer questions about the 15 unclaimed houses registered in her maiden name and built in the Lusaka area using a permit registered for Kasama in Northern Zambia is quite telling about what is persecution and what is lawful investigation for lawful prosecution purposes.

This tribunal has a lot of decided cases on the differences between persecution and prosecution and both counsel are familiar with the jurisprudence or have been availed with the leading jurisprudence which I need not summarise herein as a result. Hakainde Hichilema had been summoned to attend at law enforcement agencies’ offices numerous times without fail but on this one occasion, the police raided his house as if it was a military operation to capture a big terrorist, someone who had voluntarily presented himself on numerous occasions without fail. The end result of that treason case was actually also telling. If there was truly a case of treason pursuant to Section 43 of the Penal Code of Zambia, Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia, no nolle prosequi could have been entertained by the Zambian state. Treason involves the life and security of the nation. The charge cannot be exchanged for anything unless it was based on political persecution rather than criminal prosecution.

Esther Lungu is summoned once pursuant to the corruption statutes of that country, just once and she laments persecution. The Hakainde Hichilema regime was partly elected to vigorously vanquish the cancer of corruption and the regime has vowed to follow the rule of law in this fight, using predetermined legally constitutional anti-corruption statutes, statutes which are also germaine in international and comparative corruption statutes as ably analysed in the writings of Zambia’s eminent scholar Professor Muna Ndulo of Cornell University who was presented as an expert witness here on whether the fight against corruption in Zambia is persecution or prosecution.

The claimant Esther Lungu put in context that the fight against corruption in Zambia is targeting only members of the former ruling party, therefore the fight against corruption has turned into persecution on the basis of membership in a political or social group. She has tried strenuously to bring her experiences and those of other members of the Patriotic Front (PF) party into the definition of refugee status formulated in the “Handbook on Procedures and Criteria for Determining Refugee Status under the 1951 Convention and the 1967 Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees”. That Handbook has been operationalised in hundreds of decisions defining each case meeting the criteria set out therein. There is plenty of jurisprudence on what is persecution and what is prosecution.

In his authoritative books, “The Law of Refugee Status” and “The Law of Refugee Status Under International Law”, Professor James Hathaway, formerly of Osgoode Hall Law School, has assembled a mass of case law encompassing the different definitions and case law on who fits into the criteria of refugee. Hathaway has been an expert witness at this hearing and was extensively examined and cross-examined by both teams of counsel. Esther Lungu’s lamentation of persecution does not come even within a thousand metres of the Convention definition of “persecution” in the context of Zambia under the current regime.

Lungu hasn’t even been prosecuted to even meet and demonstrate that that prosecution has devolved into political persecution. This is the case under tyrannical regimes such as the former Apartheid regime in South Africa. See Richard Abel, “Politics By Other Means: Law in the Struggle Against Apartheid, 1980-1994”.

Expert witnesses called by the claimant, for example Mr Joseph Chirwa and Mr Isaac Mwanza failed to demonstrate that fighting corruption in Zambia now amounts to persecution on political or social group grounds. Lungu is merely being investigated. And all PF leaders who have been charged with corruption, have been granted bail.

That there was massive corruption under the PF regime is indisputable as shown in the rims of documents filed as exhibits at this hearing. A commission of inquiry into corruption in Zambia under the PF regime would be apropo to expose the monstrosity of that cancer and if the government were to defeat the claim that legally fighting corruption in Zambia is persecution.

It may well be that the fight against corruption in Zambia in future, if not well handled and defined, could turn out to be persecution and not prosecution. At this juncture, however, the experience of Esther Lungu is neither persecution nor prosecution. The claim of persecution advanced by Esther Lungu is manifestly ill-founded and is accordingly dismissed. The claimant has a right to apply for leave in the federal court. This proceeding is concluded.

Emmanuel Mwamba please don’t bring trouble to yourself- Clayson Hamasaka warns Amb.  Emmanuel Mwamba

Lusaka- Saturday, 25th January 2025

State House Chief Communications Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka has warned Patriotic Front Chairperson  for Information and Publicity, Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba with an arrest and other consequences.

Commenting on a thread on Emmanuel Mwamba’s Facebook Page entilted; “Where is the President”, Hamasaka warned Mwamba that he will be dealt with severely.

“Emmanuel Mwamba please don’t bring trouble to yourself. I have been in touch with the President almost whole day today”.

“The speculation you are posting on your Munyaule and other PF pages is very dangerous”.

But Mwamba dismissed Hamasaka’s threats advising him to establish facts before issuing threats founded on false information.

“Clayson Hamasaka my brother behave!”wrote Mwamba

“Clayson your regular resort to threats based on unfounded information makes you one of the most dangerous aides to the President.”

“I don’t own those pages you repeatedly allege”.

“The trouble with you  is you think the force of the Zambia Police will intimidate us and silence us.”

“You have ZICTA, find out the admins and runners of those pages.”

“You are a menace to freedom of expression as you are behind many engineered arrests.”

“You know by now that whatever I wish to say, I say it on my Page without fear or favour”.

“I don’t fabricated or prevaricate, I don’t hide in other pages like you do.” He said.

“Whatever I wish to say, I say it on radio, on TV or on my pages.”

“Behave. You have institutions in this country that can help you establish the Truth. Stop harming and harrasing innocent citizens and political leaders.”

“Hold me accountable to what I publish”.

Mwamba broke the news of the sudden medical evacuation that occurred at Maina Soko Medical Centre.

In another post, he also asked where the President was when he was scheduled to launch the construction of a multi-million dollar Phosphate Plant.

Mwamba also did the latest update stating that;

“Where is the President?”

“On Friday, President Hakainde Hichilema yesterday Chaired a meeting at State House where he received a detailed briefing on the initiatives being pursued to scale up irrigation schemes in the country.”

“To enhance food security President Hichilema’s government has designed a program to utilise the country’s water bodies for irrigation to grow food throughout the year.”

“President Hichilema was on Friday scheduled to lay the foundation stone on the construction of the Integrated Phosphate Products Beneficiation Plant being set up by a Chinese firm, Sino Great Chemical.”

He delegated Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Chipoka Mulenga to do so on his behalf.

Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba  is trying to build a case in order to seek asylum in America where he is right now-  Amb. Elias Munshya

It’s TV Bakwetu that threatened Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba-Setting the Record Straight

Elias Munshya Writes;

Ambassador Emmanuel Mwamba  has decided to accuse me of threatening him. Ati I’m after him? Awe sure, I haven’t, and I won’t. Maybe it’s his way of spicing up his story, but let me clear this up before it gets out of hand.

So here’s what happened:

Bakwetu Media, which is as independent as an honest referee at a football match, had an issue with Mr. Mwamba and decided to respond to him. Meanwhile, here in Canberra, it was very late, and I was busy sleeping peacefully like a good civil servant.

Fast forward to the morning, and boom! Mr. Mwamba is out here accusing me of all sorts of things. Bakamba, if you have issues with Bakwetu, take it up with them. Don’t drag me into your politics. I’m minding my own business, posting directly from my page, as always.

Let’s be real—Mr. Mwamba is a smart man, and deep down, he knows I’m totally innocent in this matter. But propaganda has a purpose, doesn’t it? As someone who’s spent years working as an asylum lawyer, I can only speculate. Could it be that he’s trying to build a case for himself? Ati, “My life is under threat”? I see where this is going. Bo Mwamba, mwamvela, it’s not every day that someone will make you a victim just because you say so.

And please, let’s not forget—I’m a civil servant. If you’re looking for political battles, kindly engage your fellow politicians. I’m not in that ring. My job is to serve Zambians in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, not to entertain cooked-up accusations.

So, to Mr. Mwamba, I say this with all the siwanga I can muster: if you’re looking for drama, you’re knocking on the wrong door. Theatrics might work elsewhere, but here, we stick to facts. Take your issues to Bakwetu if you must, but leave me out of it.

And to everyone else, let’s stay focused on what matters—real development and progress. Everything else is just noise.

Twalumba!

Open Letter to Clayson Hamasaka: Is This What Your Job Requires?- Clayson Hamasaka

Open Letter to Clayson Hamasaka: Is This What Your Job Requires?

Dear Mr. Clayson Hamasaka,

As a Zambian citizen, I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding your actions and the controversies surrounding your name. As a State House Communications Specialist, your role carries immense responsibility and influence. You are tasked with shaping the image of the Presidency, communicating key policies, and fostering trust and transparency between the government and the people. Yet, your conduct has raised serious questions about your commitment to these duties.

Your name has been mentioned in the alleged abduction of Hon. Emmanuel Jay Banda—a shocking and appalling incident that has left the nation in disbelief. Such allegations not only cast doubt on your personal integrity but also tarnish the credibility of the office you represent. How does someone in such a significant position find themselves entangled in such a scandal?

To make matters worse, you are now publicly threatening Ambassador Emmanuel Mwamba. WHY? Is this truly what your job requires of you?

Your role should never be about intimidation, threats, or silencing dissent. It is your responsibility to conduct yourself with professionalism and integrity, ensuring that the government is seen as a beacon of democracy and accountability. Threatening someone who exercises their constitutional right to free expression, like Ambassador Mwamba, is both undemocratic and unacceptable.

Ambassador Mwamba, like every Zambian, has the right to voice his opinions, critique the government, and hold leaders accountable. Your threats not only undermine his rights but also reflect poorly on the government you represent. Is this truly the example the UPND government wishes to set?

I, along with many Zambians, demand accountability and transparency. You owe the nation answers. Specifically:

1. What role, if any, did you play in the alleged abduction of Hon. Emmanuel Jay Banda?

2. Why are you threatening Ambassador Emmanuel Mwamba?

3. Is intimidation and controversy part of your official job description?

As a State House Communications Specialist, your role should be to build trust and foster dialogue—not to spread fear or engage in actions that divide the nation. If these actions reflect the stance of the government, then it is fair for Zambians to question the direction of our leadership.

I urge you to reflect on your actions and the immense responsibility you carry. Zambia deserves leaders and public servants who uphold the values of democracy, integrity, and professionalism—not individuals who perpetuate division and controversy.

Sincerely,
Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

UPND can win an election anywhere in Zambia today, says Katambo

By Darious Kapembwa

THE ruling UPND can win an election anywhere in Zambia today, says deputy media director Cheelo Katambo.

Recently, Matero PF member of parliament Miles Sampa said the ruling party was afraid of losing elections in urban areas that is why the by-elections are only happening in rural areas.

But Katambo dared Sampa to resign as Matero MP and see if the UPND cannot win an urban seat.

He reminded Sampa that Kabushi in Ndola and Kwacha in Kitwe were all urban constituencies that his party managed to win.

“We have seen the statement from Matero member of parliament Miles Sampa where he is calling on the UPND to call for elections in an urban area alleging that the UPND was scared of losing that’s why by-elections were being held in rural areas. We find that laughable because Mr Miles Sampa in the first place should realise that places like Kawambwa Central that is an urban constituency in Luapula Province. Kabushi is urban in Ndola, Kwacha is in Kitwe. So when Mr Miles Sampa talks about urban areas we tend to wonder whether the man understands what an urban area is as compared to a rural area,” Katambo said. “Now if Mr Miles Sampa wants us to have an election, if he wants us to go into a game … for elections, we advise him to step down in Matero so that we can have by-election in Matero and see if he can still retain that seat.”

Katambo claimed that Sampa had failed the people of Matero as roads and drainages were still bad despite government procuring earth-moving equipment.

“If you go to Matero today roads are bad, drainages are bad and there is literally nothing that Mr Miles Sampa can point at today as having achieved in Matero. So if he wants us to go to a by-election we ask him to resign today and go for a by-election more especially that his secretary general Morgan Ng’ona has petitioned the Constitutional Court to ask the National Assembly to declare Matero Constituency vacant then we can meet in Matero and see if the people of Matero will not vote for the UPND,” he said.

Katambo said people stopped voting for “mere rhetoric but visible development like what President Hakainde Hichilema” was delivering in Matero as a result of increased Constituency Development Fund, the cash for work, women and youth loans plus construction of classrooms and clinics.

“We are game for Matero if Miles Sampa wants to have an election in an urban area as he says it. We are ready to start with his constituency which is Matero. We are asking him to resign today so that ECZ can call a by-election. The people of Matero are tired of Miles Sampa. He was an MP, became mayor and MP again. All he knows is bikering, behaving like a small boy. Jumping from one plane to another, arguing with people and busy misbehaving.

That is not the kind of politics that… the UPND right now can win an election anywhere in the country regardless of the terrain, geographical location, even in areas that were once deemed as impossibilities because the people are seing the advantages and the things that are being done on the ground,” said Katambo.

Bidena Faces Excommunication from the Catholic Church for joining Freemasonry

The former US president could technically be excommunicated from the Catholic Church for becoming a Master Mason

Former US President Joe Biden, a self-professed Catholic, has joined an African-American Masonic lodge as a ‘Master Mason’. The Vatican takes a dim view of Freemasonry, and Catholics who join the fraternal order face excommunication.

Biden was inducted into the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge in South Carolina on Sunday, one day before he left office. In a private ceremony, the lodge’s grand master, Victor C. Major, granted Biden “Master Mason membership with full honors,” according to a statement published by the organization last weekend that circulated online on Friday.

https://dailyrevelationzambia.com/immediate-past-us…/An announcement surfaced online Friday, issued the Conference of Grand Masters of Prince Hall Lodge Freemasonry, and stating that the Grand Lodge of South Carolina had conferred membership on President Joe Biden.According to the announcement, dated Jan. 19 — the day before Biden left office — the president was granted a “resolution of membership” by the lodge in recognition of his “exceptional dedication and service to the United States” which “reflects the core values of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of South Carolina, including brotherly love, relief, and truth.”

It is not uncommon for outgoing presidents to be honored by groups and organizations.

But as the second Catholic to hold the office, Biden’s new “membership” of the lodge presents a particular issue: Catholics have been banned from joining masonic lodges and organizations since 1738, and are subject to canonical penalties for doing so.

So, is Joe Biden now a Freemason? And if so, what canonical penalties does he face? Based on the facts available, the situation is more complicated than you might think. The former US president could technically be excommunicated from the Catholic Church for becoming a Master Mason

Although its origins stretch back to the 15th century, modern Freemasonry developed in Britain in the early 1700s and quickly grew into a Europe- and US-wide fraternity for philosophers, religious dissidents, occultists, and the business and political elite. Some 14 US presidents, including George Washington, were Freemasons.

Man City Defeat Chelsea To Return To EPL Top Four

Erling Haaland scored a stunning goal to lead Manchester City to a 3-1 win over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to return to the Premier League top four.

Pep Guardiola handed two of his January signings a surprise start, Abdulkodir Khusanov, and Omar Marmoush made their Premier League debuts from the start.

It was a start to forget for Khusanov, who made a mistake that allowed Jackson to assist Noni Madueke for the opening goal in the second minute to put Chelsea ahead.

Josko Gvardiol restored parity for Man City just before half time following finishing off a rebound from a Mattheus Nunes effort to end the first half 1-1.

Erling Haaland scored a stunning goal to make it 2-1 for Chelsea in the 68 minute after Robert Sanchez came off his line, which allowed the Norwegian forward to dink in a delightful finish for his 18th Premier League goal of the season.

Phil Foden put the icing on the cake following a superb lay off from Erling Haaland to allow him a straight run at Chelsea’s goal before finishing past Sanchez.

The victory moved Man City up to the fourth position on the Premier League table with 41 points, while Chelsea slipped to the sixth position on the log.

Up next for Chelsea is a home clash against West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, while Man City will take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium next Sunday.

Earlier in the day, Liverpool recorded a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town thanks to a brace from Cody Gakpo, and other goals from Mohammed Salah, and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Arsenal earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wolves courtesy of a solo strike by Riccardo Calfiori.

Bournemouth stunned Nottingham Forest 5-0 to maintain their impressive run of form which took them to seventh on the Premier League log.

SOME TUMBUKA FIRST-NAMES AND THEIR MEANINGS

SOME TUMBUKA FIRST-NAMES AND THEIR MEANINGS

Names are an important element of heritage. A person’s name is a link to their society and helps tell the story of where they come from.

As is the case with many other African societies, the first-names that the Tumbuka people give to their children  are usually based on the different circumstances and events that surround the birth of the child, some of these include; manner of the birth, happiness, fertility, bad occurrences, order of birth and so on. In some instances first-names are given to infants in memory of dead family members such as a sibling, parent or grandparent. Sometimes the characteristics that parents observe from the child at birth also play a role in determining the naming of the child.

Some of the common Tumbuka first-names are as follows:

(1). VITUMBIKO: The meaning of this name is “Blessings”. Parents give their child this name as a way to thank God for blessing the home with a child.

TEACHER, POLICE OFFICER FIGHT OVER A BEAUTIFUL LADY AT COURT

TEACHER, POLICE OFFICER FIGHT OVER A BEAUTIFUL LADY AT COURT

“Each one is claiming to be the owner of the child as they want to marry a lady”

There  was drama at a named Local Court in Lusaka yesterday Friday when two men physically fought after they both claimed to have fathered a two-year-old child from a woman aged 26.

Ronald  Mwanza, 31 a teacher by profession, and Wezi Lungu, aged 30 a police officer, could not control their anger when the court ordered that a DNA test should be conducted to ascertain who the biological father of the child was between the two men.

After the court’s ruling, Mwanza and Lungu both started demanding custody of the child saying DNA was a waste of time.

When they walked outside the courtroom they started exchanging blows, attracting the attention of other people within the court premises before the court clerk told them to leave the place.

The woman at the centre of the paternity puzzle was Royce Mutale a good looking nurse. In this matter, Mwanza sued Royce for reconciliation over paternity of a child.

Mwanza said three years ago, Royce, who was his girlfriend, informed him that she was pregnant for him and after a few weeks her relatives took her to his house so that he could take care of her since he was responsible for the pregnancy.

“I started staying with Royce at my house from the time she was two months pregnant to the time she gave birth. But after the birth of my child this man (Lungu) started claiming that the child was his and not mine. We used to fight whenever we met,” he said.

Lungu also claimed that Royce went to his house to inform him that she was carrying his child.

After the two gave their statements, the magistrate asked Royce to stand before the court and asked her to tell the court who the real father of her child was between the two men.

But Royce who was hesitant at first pointed at Lungu as the father of her child.

“Lungu is the father of the child. Yes, I was sleeping with both of them, but I think Lungu is the father. I told them both that I was pregnant for them, because I love both of them and I want them to marry me”, she said sending the court to laughter.

A$AP Rocky’s Shooting Trial Gets Underway With No Black Jurors

A$AP Rocky knows the jury he will have to win over in his shooting trial, but it will not feature any Black people.
According to TMZ, the 12-person jury is made up of seven women and five men who are either white, Asian or Latino.

There are also four alternate jurors, all of whom are white women.

Both the accused perpetrator, Rocky, and the alleged victim, former friend and A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli, are Black.

Neither Rocky’s legal team nor prosecutors have so far voiced any concerns regarding the jury selection process, but it has been a contentious point in the run up to the trial, which begins on Friday (January 24).

Civil rights leader Al Sharpton recently spoke out against the lack of Black representation in the jury pool, especially given Los Angeles’ racial diversity.

“It is absolutely ridiculous that the jury will be not fair and representative, so as to deprive A$AP Rocky of a fair trial,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) earlier this week.

“When we have four (4) black people in the city of Los Angeles, out of one hundred and six (106) — and exactly zero (0) within the first thirty (30) possible candidates for the jury — something appears to be very wrong with the system.”

He added: “I am monitoring this trial and challenging the Los Angeles District Attorney to ensure that fair and representative justice is afforded to A$AP Rocky […] as is his Constitutional right.”

Sharpton has not yet commented on the final jury.

A$AP Rocky stands accused of shooting A$AP Relli (real name Terell Ephron) during a dispute in Hollywood in November 2021.

He has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and faces up to 24 years in prison if convicted.

Rocky recently turned down a plea deal that would have seen him be sentenced to three years’ probation, a seven-year suspended prison sentence and 180 days in county jail.

The rapper’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, previously indicated that they would reject any plea agreement, saying: “From our side, we have no interest in a settlement. My client has indicated he’s not willing to take anything.”

Tacopina also recently revealed some elements of his defense for the upcoming trial, which is expected to last 15 days. Opening statements are expected on Friday morning.

He said they have two witnesses who are ready to testify that the gun seen on security footage was a prop gun that Rocky carried “for security reasons.”

Man Sentenced To 15 Years for Assaulting His Lesbian Neighbour Who Rejected Him

Bloemfontein sexual offences court.

Details of the Incident that led to the arrest
The assault took place on December 9, 2022, when the victim, a woman who identifies as a lesbian, was on her way to a nearby shop to buy milk. The accused, who was her neighbour, lured her into his home under the false pretence of asking for her assistance with a purchase.

Upon her arrival, while waiting outside his door, Mohapi claimed he needed to retrieve money from inside. However, he suddenly attacked her, pulling her into his home and onto his bed.

Once inside, the attacker threatened the victim with a knife to prevent her from screaming before proceeding to assault her. After the attack, Mohapi discarded the victim’s clothing outside his house.

This brutal crime occurred despite the victim previously informing the accused of her s_xual orientation and declining his advances when he had proposed a romantic relationship.

Legal Proceedings
At trial, Mojalefa Senokoatsane, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), highlighted that the 23-year-old woman had been subjected to an appalling act of violence and exploitation.

Prosecutor Azola Key emphasized the gravity of the crime, stressing that the case fell within the disturbing trend of so-called “corrective r_ape” – a violent and cruel act aimed at attempting to “cure” someone’s sexual identity.

During sentencing, the defence, represented by Legal Aid, argued for a lighter punishment, suggesting that the accused deserved a reduced sentence as a first-time offender. However, the court upheld the minimum prescribed sentence of 15 years, citing the severity of the crime and its impact on both the victim and society.

Aftermath and Consequences

As part of the sentence, the court also ordered that Mohapi’s name be added to the National Register for Sex Offenders, ensuring that his crime is permanently recorded to prevent further offences.

Belize removes Queen Elizabeth’s image on its dollar banknotes

0

Belize has taken a “significant step” toward removing iotas of colonialism by replacing the image of the late Queen Elizabeth on its dollar bills with those of national heroes.

Unveiling the new design of the bank notes late on Thursday, January 23, the governor of Belize’s central bank, Kareem Michael, said that along with improved security and anti-counterfeit features, the “new family of notes also allows us to recognize and celebrate our heritage and the rich history of Belize”.

The new notes will go into circulation in June. Instead of the queen’s image, the new 100-, 20- and five-dollar bills will feature George Cadle Price, who was the first prime minister of the country and is considered the father of independence from British rule.

Fifty-, ten and two-dollar bills will bear the likeness of Philip Goldson, a founding member of the country’s major political parties, the People’s United Party and the United Democratic Party, who is celebrated as a champion of national pride.

Belize’s prime minister, Johnny Briceño, said the new images “exemplify our national heroes who symbolize our resistance”.

Speaking to local media he said: “I know some people will say, ‘We don’t have the queen [on the note].’ Well, the queen has died, and that has nothing to do with the Belize dollar.

“While the primary reason for this change was to incorporate technological advancements into new notes for increased security features and durability, it is one more way for us to remember the sacrifices of those who came before us. Each time we look at the faces of our national heroes on our new currency, we are seeing history, we are seeing leadership, we are seeing the great work that led us to where we are today,” Briceño said

For citizens campaigning for Belize to remove King Charles as head of state, the removal of the British monarch from the country’s money is an important milestone in the journey towards becoming a republic.

The Belizean political scientist Dr Dylan Vernon, a former ambassador to the European Union and former chair of the country’s political reform commission, said the removal of the queen’s image was long delayed, describing it as “a small but significant symbolic step in the unfinished business of decolonisation”.

He said: “I have long argued that symbolic changes – such as renaming streets, putting national heroes on currency and replacing the king with a Belizean head of state – are needed but in no way enough. Constitutional and political reforms are essential for more meaningful decolonisation – for example, separation of legislative and executive powers, and reforming the electoral system to include proportional representation.

“The hopeful angle is that when the new currency notes have no impact on their lives, other than increasing national pride, fewer Belizeans will fear the more substantive move of replacing the British monarch with a Belizean head of state as part of wider constitutional decolonisation and reform.”

ASAP Rocky’s Lawyer Reads ASAP Relli’s Shocking Alleged Texts In Court

ASAP Rocky’s assault trial is officially underway after jury selection. Today (January 24), they kicked things off with opening statements. LA County Deputy District Attorney Paul Przelomiec opened, and the rapper’s lawyer Joe Tacopina followed. Each side presented the evidence they’ll be using throughout the trial to support their arguments.

At one point, for example, Tacopina read a series of text messages that he alleges were sent by ASAP Relli, the man Rocky is accused of shooting at. “Relli told his friend that Rocky was a ‘piece of sht,’ and that ‘I’m gonna beat this n**a up.’ That’s funny. They showed you a lot of text messages,” he added of the prosecution. “I didn’t see that one.” This is far from the only pertinent update in the case, however.

Earlier this week, it was also reported that Rocky’s team was not pleased with the lack of representation in the jury pool. Reportedly, out of 106 people, only five of them were Black. “We’re in downtown Los Angeles. Not a small town in Montana. We’re troubled by that to say the least,” Tacopina said. Judge Arnold rejected this notion, stating “There’s no authority that requires any particular percentage of any ethnicity on a jury.”

ASAP Rocky also rejected a deal from prosecutors to plead guilty to one count of assault in exchange for a 180-day jail sentence, three years probation, and a seven-year suspended prison sentence. This move was controversial, as it was later alleged that prosecutors told his family members that he should have accepted it.

According to TMZ, the performer turned it down because it could have potentially ruined his career. “This would effectively end his career because he would lose all of his endorsement contracts, including Gucci, Puma, the Met Gala and, most important, he would not be able to tour and his career would be over,” a source reportedly told the outlet. “They would have him under their thumb for over 8 years.”

Lil Wayne Finally Confirms When Much_Anticipated Album Will Drop; Check Out The Details

Rapper, Lil Wayne, has promised his fans that they wouldn’t have to wait too long for his next album.

The Young Money legend has officially reassured fans that Tha Carter VI will be delivered before the end of 2025. This was confirmed during a chat with AT&T at the College Football Playoff National Championship in Atlanta on Monday. January 20, 2025.

When asked if fans could expect the highly anticipated album this year, he gave a confident one-word answer: “Guaranteed.” Available records indicate that this marks the most promising update yet on the highly anticipated project and Wayne’s first solo album since 2020’s “Funeral.”

Over the years, the Young Money boss has dropped hints about the project, and it’s clear he’s been assembling a number of unexpected collaborators.

Last year, Warren Gspilled the beans about his contribution, sharing on SiriusXM: “I got a record called ‘All Alone’ with Lil Wayne. It’s gonna be on ‘Tha Carter VI.’. That muthaf–ka’s so vicious. When they hear that, they gon’ be like, ‘Wow!’ […] This is a banger.”

Meanwhile, NBA superstar Kevin Durant accidentally revealed his involvement in the project, much to Lil Wayne’ss annoyance. “Why would KD do that? That was on the wrap,” Wayne laughed in a conversation with Taylor Rooks. “See KD, you messed up.” While the song’s fate on “Tha Carter VI” remains unclear, Wayne hinted it might land on another project instead.

With promises of fresh sounds and collaborations, Weezy’s guarantee has set the stage for what’s shaping up to be a monumental return.

In other news, Lil Wayne appears to have responded to Kendrick Lamar by referring to him on his new album, GNX, and asking for peace, but warning, “I shall destroy if disturbed.” Taking to X, Wayne wrote without mentioning Lamar by name: “Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.”

South African Man Shoots Wife and Flees to Zimbabwe for Ritual Cleansing

South African Man Shoots Wife and Flees to Zimbabwe for Ritual Cleansing

Police in South Africa have launched a manhunt for their fellow countryman Dakalo Nemangwele (34), who brutally shot and killed his wife in Free State province last week Friday before allegedly skipping the border to Zimbabwe for cleansing by a traditional healer.

Nemangwele is alleged to have shot his wife (29) in unclear circumstances.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malasela Ledwaba said indications are that he could have entered Zimbabwe through Beitbridge Border Post. South African police have since recovered ammunition believed to have been used by Nemangwele to murder his wife.

The shocking discovery began when a vehicle tracking company alerted police to a white Ford Ranger reported missing, along with its owner and his wife, under Moroka SAPS in Gauteng. The vehicle was tracked to a residence in Campbell, where the homeowner revealed that Nemangwele had left the truck as collateral after borrowing a significant amount of money.

“On 20 January 2025, police in Musina received information from a tracking company about a white Ford Ranger with Limpopo registration numbers, which had been parked at a 6residence in Campbell. The vehicle’s owner had been reported missing since Friday, 17 January 2025, under Moroka SAPS in Gauteng, along with his wife. Police rushed to the scene and found the vehicle at the residence. The property owner explained that he had kept the pick-up truck in his yard with permission from the male owner, who had borrowed a large amount of cash and indicated he intended to cross the border to Zimbabwe for spiritual assistance due to issues at his workplace.”

He said further investigations revealed that Nemangwele was accompanied by another man when he dropped off the vehicle on January 17, 2025, at about 10 pm.

Further investigations revealed that Nemangwele had been accompanied by another man when he dropped off the vehicle on January 17 around 10 PM.

During the initial investigation, police discovered bloodstains inside the vehicle, along with two empty rifle cartridges, three empty 9mm pistol cartridges, a fragment of 9mm ammunition, six live 9mm rounds, two black 9mm pistol magazines (one full and one empty), and a pair of black gloves.

On January 22, 2025, authorities located the body of the 29-year-old woman in the bushes along the N1 in Kromdraai, showing multiple gunshot wounds.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the husband (Nemangwele), who was supposed to be travelling with the deceased, passed the Verkeerdevlei Toll Gate alone in the same vehicle on Friday, 17 January 2025. It was at the turn-off in Kromdraai where the woman’s body was discovered,” said Col Ledwaba.

Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to Nemangwele’s arrest to contact Lieutenant Colonel Shuhani Rendani at +2782 414 6683, Crime Stop at +278600 10111, or through the MySAPS App.

Kyle Walker joins AC Milan on loan with option to buy

England defender, Kyle Walker has joined AC Milan from Manchester City on an initial six-month loan, with the Serie A club having the option to buy him permanently this summer.

The 34-year-old asked to leave City earlier in January with his last appearance for the club coming in the 4-1 home win over West Ham at the start of the month.

City accepted Milan’s formal loan offer on Thursday. The option to buy in the summer is worth around £4.2m (€5m), according to Sky in Italy.

Walker departs City having made 319 appearances for the club across seven-and-half-seasons at the Etihad Stadium, while he captained the side for last season’s historic fourth consecutive Premier League title.

The England international will wear the number 32 shirt at AC Milan, who sit eighth in Serie A and are on course to finish in the top eight of the Champions League table with Sergio Conceicao’s team occupying the sixth spot.

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker joins AC Milan on loan with option to buy

Walker has helped City win 17 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League, since joining the club in a £50m deal from Tottenham in 2017.

Walker posted a lengthy and emotional statement to his Instagram page paying tribute to City after his transfer was confirmed, saying that signing for the club had been a “dream come true”.

“Manchester City… where do I start? Signing up for this incredible club in 2017 was a dream come true. Seven years later, winning 17 trophies, including the Champions League and the famous treble is something I could only have dreamt as a child.

“To play alongside so many top players has pushed me to be the best version of myself, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity I’ve had at the Etihad.

“A huge thank you to so many people, the coaching staff, the kit men, and all the backroom staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes. You make every day enjoyable and provide the platform for us to perform at our best.

“To my teammates, from the moment I walked through the door, I felt at home. Thank you for the great memories and for all the success we have shared together. You are friends, but also family for life.

“To Pep Guardiola, thank you for believing in me and working so hard to bring me here in 2017. Together, we’ve celebrated 17 trophies, and your guidance has helped shape me into the player I am today. I’ll be forever grateful.

“To Annie, our children and all my family who have been there and supported me on this journey thank you.

“Most importantly, to the fans – thank you for embracing me as one of your own from day one. Your unwavering support, week in, week out, home and away, will never be forgotten.

“I wish you all constant success going forward. Thank you.”

Diddy says government is spying on him in jail

Attorneys for disgraced rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs have claimed federal investigators posed as prison guards searched through his cell for new evidence.

This comes as new allegations are set to be levied against Diddy in a documentary next week, including the former editor-in-chief of Vibe Magazine, Danyel Smith, who claims Diddy threatened to k!ll her.

Smith told of her alleged experience as part of the upcoming Investigation Discovery docuseries The Fall of Diddy, alleging Diddy flew into a rage when she refused to show him an early preview of a magazine cover he was appearing in.

After Smith rejected the request, she claimed that Diddy ‘said he’d see me dead in a trunk if I didn’t show it to him.’

She said Diddy only apologized after she threatened to go to law enforcement, but said in the days before he ‘he had come up to the Vibe offices with two tough guys, looking for me.’

Smith continued to work with Diddy on numerous occasions over the next decades, and said in the upcoming documentary that while she tried to be ‘cordial’ with him – a stance she now appears to regret, saying: ‘It’s very hard not to feel complicit – I wish that things were different.’

His attorneys slammed the soon-to-be-released documentary in a statement to People, saying the several documentaries and shows that have come out since his arrest in September, saying they ‘are rushing to cash in on the media circus’ around his case.

In Diddy’s attorney’s claims about federal agents searching his jail cell, they alleged that the search was directed by supervisors from the Southern District of New York, which is prosecuting the rap mogul.

They said in a filing obtained by DailyMail.com that the search of his cell and seizure of his belongings was ‘illegal’, including ‘privileged notes.’

The search was ‘for evidence, not contraband’, the filing claims, ‘and it is clear the purpose was to gather evidence for the prosecution, not police any potential threats to (the jail’s) security.’

‘Mr. Combs has never received so much as a write-up in his four months in BOP custody, despite the government’s constant decries of his alleged obstruction from MDC and supposed violation of policy,’ the filing read.

The investigator who searched his cell was ‘an agent of the prosecution team’ who ‘admits he listened to Mr. Combs’s calls, including with his counsel, and all those recordings, including the ones with attorneys, were furnished to the U.S. Attorneys’ Office’, it is alleged.

‘(The investigator) has been spying on the defence team all along,’ the filing concludes.

Diddy is currently in a Brooklyn jail after he pleaded not guilty to a wave of sex trafficking charges, with a slew of further alleged victims still coming out with allegations about the rapper.

South African president signs controversial land seizure law

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed into law a bill allowing land seizures by the state without compensation, a decision that has put him at odds with some members of his government.

Black people only own a small fraction of farmland nationwide more than 30 years after the end of the racist system of apartheid – the majority remains with the white minority.

This has led to frustration and anger over the slow pace of reform.

While Ramaphosa’s ANC party hailed the law as a “significant milestone” in the country’s transformation, some members of the coalition government say they may challenge it in court.

The law “outlines how expropriation can be done and on what basis” by the state, the government says.

It replaces the pre-democratic Expropriation Act of 1975, which placed an obligation on the state to pay owners it wanted to take land from, under the principle of “willing seller, willing buyer”.

The new law allows for expropriation without compensation only in circumstances where it is “just and equitable and in the public interest” to do so.

This includes if the property is not being used and there’s no intention to either develop or make money from it or when it poses a risk to people.

The president’s spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said that, under the law, the state “may not expropriate property arbitrarily or for a purpose other than… in the public interest”.

“Expropriation may not be exercised unless the expropriating authority has without success attempted to reach an agreement with the owner,” he added.

The signing of the law comes after a five-year consultative process as well as the findings of a presidential panel set up to look into the issue.

The pro-business Democratic Alliance (DA), the second largest party in the government of National Unity (GNU), says it “strongly opposes” the law and was consulting with its lawyers.

It says that while it supports legislation addressing land restitution, it takes issue with the process followed by the country’s parliament to enact this law.

The Freedom Front Plus, a party that defends the rights of the white minority and is also in the GNU, vowed to challenge the constitutionality of the law and do “everything in its power” to have it amended if it is found to be unconstitutional.

One of the sticking points for the party was the law’s possible threat to private ownership.

Outside of the coalition government, the Economic Freedom Fighters, known for its radical views on nationalisation and land distribution, has called the move a “legislative cop-out” by the governing party.

The party also says the law will not help resolve the contentious issue of land restitution in South Africa.

Don’t say bad things about your own country, Catholic priest tells opposition

A CATHOLIC priest of Ndola Archdiocese has told off opposition leaders who are cooking up propaganda to make government and the country at large look bad to other countries.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1ALKBffZA9/?mibextid=oFDknk

In his homily yesterday, Fr Elias Muma told the opposition to refrain from issuing statements that paint the country black stating that no patriotic Zambian could paint their own country and government black.

Fr Muma stated that the opposition needs to learn that no government or anyone around the globe is perfect including the same people reporting the worst against the country.

“What is currently going on, teti umuntu nangufye uli politician ukulalanda ifibi pali country yobe, (even if you are a politician, don’t say bad things about your own country) Zambia  is a peaceful nation moving to greatness,” he said.

“Ukulachita behave kwati baice abakutila naya nkusosele kuli ba daddy pakuti bese bakume (you are behaving like children who say let me report you to dad so that he beats you). You can’t say bad things about your own country, you are not patriotic. If you say bad things to those you think are the ones who give us money, now if they fail to give us money who will suffer?”

Fr Muma stated that it is not good for outsiders to have a bad impression of the country.

The Catholic priest emphasised that Zambia was not a bad country for politicians to be parading it like one for their own selfish interests.

“Outsiders can get an impression that Zambia is a bad country and yet we are not a bad country unless those who are corrupt and have stolen, those are the problems. So ukulanda ifibi pali family yobe, pali wemwine napa chalo chobe takwaba (saying bad things about your own family, yourself and country should not exist,” he stated.

He further said those who are fond of talking down on the country do not deserve to be Zambians.

“Ninshi you are not fit to be here in Zambia. Go where you think it’s peaceful then. We are all not perfect, the government is not perfect, you are not perfect. Stop parading yourselves like children. We can only solve problems within ourselves not outside. No country is perfect even where you are reporting, they are also not perfect,” he added.

M’MEMBE SYMPATHIZES WITH ECL …calls on Zambians to unite in order to uproot UPND in 2026

[MUST WATCH]: M’MEMBE SYMPATHIZES WITH ECL

…calls on Zambians to unite in order to uproot UPND in 2026

Petauke… Saturday January 25, 2025

Socialist Party (SP) President Dr Fred M’membe says if Zambians won’t change government next year, they will bury former Republican President Dr Edgar Lungu.

Dr. M’membe claims that the UPND are harassing him so that he dies of depression.

He says the UPND are on rampage grabbing his property saying that is tantamount to killing him.

The Socialist Party leader further says President Hakainde Hichilema has managed to destroy the Patriotic Front (PF) which the former Head of State wanted to contest on.

He also said President Lungu has been barred from standing as a Republican President until his death.

“If you are not careful in changing government next year, you will bury ECL (Edgar Chagwa Lungu). They want to kill him by grabbing his property so that he dies of depression. ECL is trying so hard to defend himself but he won’t manage alone,” he said.

“HH is today controlling PF. He first gave PF leadership to Miles Sampa, after seeing that they are not controlling him, they gave it to Robert Chabinga. And today I hear they want to give it to Dr. Chitalu Chilufya. PF is gone, because UPND has destroyed it.”

Dr. M’membe said in as much as President Lungu is trying by all means to save the party, it is not going to be easy.

“ECL has been barred from standing until his death. He tried to come up with UKA, it couldn’t stand. Now he is trying to come up with Tonse Alliance but even that it may not go anywhere. Most of these PF officials may die in prison if you won’t change government. I also have relatives in prison such as Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM), even Stephen Kampyongo is my young brother and his wife is in prison today,” he stated.

“Does it mean only PF members are the only ones who break the law? They (UPND) even came up with what they are calling Financial Crimes Court for PF members. You can’t govern a country like that.”

Dr. M’membe further claimed that if there will be no change of government, former Petauke Central MP Hon Emmanuel Jay Banda may return back to Zambia a dead person.

He also condemned the UPND government for grabbing land from the Lungu family saying even President Hichilema has huge farms in Southern Province and no one has grabbed land from him.

It’s Insulting and Nonsensical for Mr. Mweelwa Muleya to Claim Human Rights Practices in Zambia Have Improved- Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

It’s Insulting and Nonsensical for Mr. Mweelwa Muleya to Claim Human Rights Practices in Zambia Have Improved

By Thandiwe Ketis Ngoma

Mr. Mweelwa Muleya, spokesperson for the Human Rights Commission of Zambia, owes Zambians an explanation for his outrageous and baseless claim that human rights practices in the country have improved. Such a statement is not only a slap in the face to those suffering under escalating violations but also a betrayal of the very principles the Commission is mandated to uphold.

This claim flies in the face of irrefutable evidence from local and international organizations that have consistently documented a worsening human rights situation over the past three years. The United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the USA Country Reports on Zambia have all issued alarming reports exposing a disturbing trend of political persecution, suppression of dissent, and erosion of basic freedoms in the country.

Closer to home, respected institutions like the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops, Chapter One Foundation, and a coalition of 13 NGOs have repeatedly raised concerns over the government’s heavy-handed tactics, arbitrary arrests, and the increasing slide toward tyranny and dictatorship.

The Brutal Reality on the Ground

Mr. Muleya’s statement does not align with the lived experiences of Zambians or the mounting evidence of systemic abuse. The following realities expose the falsehood of his claim:

1. Political Persecution at Alarming Levels

The government has intensified its crackdown on opposition leaders and activists using unlawful detentions, fabricated charges, and outright harassment.

The abduction and inhumane treatment of Hon. Emmanuel Jay Banda, an opposition figure, highlights the government’s increasing reliance on lawlessness to intimidate critics.

Chishimba Kambwili, another vocal opposition leader, has been repeatedly harassed and arrested on flimsy charges aimed at silencing him.

Activists and youth protesting peacefully against poor governance have faced brutal crackdowns, arbitrary arrests, and prolonged detention without trial.

2. Erosion of Freedom of Speech and Media Suppression

Zambia’s democratic space has shrunk dramatically, with journalists, media houses, and civil society organizations bearing the brunt of state repression.

Investigative journalist Thomas Zgambo was unlawfully detained for daring to expose government corruption.

Media houses critical of the government are routinely threatened with closure, and ordinary citizens expressing dissent on social media face intimidation and legal harassment.

Peaceful protests are no longer tolerated, as evidenced by the violent dispersal of demonstrations against the high cost of living and poor governance.

3. Systematic Use of Excessive Force

Police brutality has become the norm, with law enforcement officers acting as instruments of political repression rather than protectors of citizens’ rights.

Protesters advocating for better living conditions have been met with tear gas, beatings, and arrests, creating a climate of fear that silences legitimate grievances.

In one shocking case, a peaceful protest by unemployed youths was violently dispersed, with many detained in inhumane conditions for extended periods.

4. Tribalism and Divisive Rhetoric

Under the current administration, tribal discrimination has taken root, with public appointments and opportunities skewed to benefit certain regions while marginalizing others.

Top government officials have openly insulted and dehumanized certain tribes, referring to their regions as “poverty-stricken” or “useless.”

This unchecked tribalism erodes national unity and deepens divisions among Zambians.

5. The Judiciary as a Weapon of Oppression

The judiciary, once a symbol of impartial justice, has been turned into a weapon for political persecution.

Opposition leaders and critics of the government are subjected to swift and harsh judgments, while ruling party officials guilty of hate speech and corruption walk free.

Hon. Banda’s abduction included reopening a dormant case from eight years ago as a diversionary tactic to justify his mistreatment.

6. Silence on Grave Human Rights Violations

The removal of Hon. Banda from Medland Hospital, where he was receiving medical care, to a military facility without his consent, was a blatant violation of his rights. Such acts are not isolated incidents but part of a worrying pattern of abuse under this administration.

A National and Global Outcry

Numerous local and international institutions have issued statements and reports exposing the deteriorating human rights situation in Zambia:

Amnesty International has reported on the shrinking civic space and the systematic targeting of dissenting voices.

The Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops has warned against the government’s failure to protect fundamental freedoms and its authoritarian tendencies.

Human Rights Watch has provided credible evidence of arbitrary arrests, harassment, and suppression of free speech.

When so many respected institutions raise the alarm, how can Mr. Muleya, as a representative of the Human Rights Commission, turn a blind eye?

A Dangerous Betrayal of Trust

Mr. Muleya’s reckless claim not only undermines the credibility of the Human Rights Commission but also emboldens the government to continue its oppressive tactics. His misleading narrative trivializes the suffering of Zambians who have endured harassment, detention, and persecution. It shows a shocking disregard for the mandate of the Human Rights Commission, which should be to hold the government accountable—not to act as its apologist.

A Call to Action

Zambians deserve better. They deserve a Human Rights Commission that stands with them and speaks truth to power. Mr. Muleya must immediately retract his statement, apologize to the nation, and commit to upholding the principles of justice and fairness.

The people of Zambia have the right to demand honesty and accountability from their leaders, especially on matters as critical as human rights. The evidence is clear: human rights in Zambia are not improving—they are deteriorating at an alarming rate. It is time for the Human Rights Commission to fulfill its duty to protect the people, not shield the government.

If Mr. Muleya cannot align himself with the truth, he should step aside and allow someone with integrity to lead the fight for human rights in Zambia. The Zambian people deserve nothing less.

Zambia Ministery Of Health Must Think Twice

0

Zambia Ministery Of Health Must Think Twice.

The withdrawal of the USA from the world Health organization (WHO) is a sad development especially to Zambia and other least developed countries. The move as negative repercussions particularly on our already struggling health sector.

Zambia has projects that depend on WHO funding including initiatives like PEPFAR the impact will be felt deeply.
Moreover, the potential disruption to ARV, Antimalaria drug, TB drugs and Other essential health programs is alarming like
1, Medical equipment partners like merck and Co have provided medical equipment crucial for health facilities in Zambia.

2, Medicine and medical supplies, the US has been donating medicine and medical supplies to address shortages in Zambia health facilities.

3, Vitamins and supplements, organizations like vitamins Angels have provided vitamin A for children under 5 and multivitamins for pregnant and lactating woman.

4, Training and capacity building, USAID has been supporting the training and capacity building of health professionals in Zambia, including pre- and in – service training, mentoring and performance management.

5, HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention. The US President’s Emergency plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has been providing significant funding and support for HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention programs in Zambia.

This donations are aimed at strengthening Zambia’s Health systems, improving access to quality health care and addressing some of the country’s most pressing health challenges. This is a wake up call to the UPND government to put key important measures on how they are going to address this issues as soon as possible by putting up shot term and long term plan because it as negative impact to Zambia health sector.

However, my humble advice for short term apart from changing procurement system, they should also consider Direct Financing to hospitals and Clinics across the country and long term plan the ministry of health of Zambia having its own pharmaceutical company so that it can be making its own essential Medications like Antibiotics, Antimalaria, TB drugs and ARVS and setting up a pharmaceutical industry it can cost the country US 850 Million dollars.

The UPND government should revisit Minning concessions and Tax waivers to improve Health sector in Zambia because the country is losing over US 2 Billion dollars of tax waives per annum and this money can help the country to be self dependent when it comes to health sector in Zambia.

Statement Condemning President Hakainde Hichilema for Undermining UN Efforts to Investigate Freedom of Speech Abuses- Pumulo Situmbeko

Statement Condemning President Hakainde Hichilema for Undermining UN Efforts to Investigate Freedom of Speech Abuses

The New Era Democratic Party (NED) strongly condemns President Hakainde Hichilema’s recent statements, which undermine the ongoing efforts of the United Nations (UN) to investigate violations of freedom of speech and other human rights abuses in Zambia. The President’s remarks, suggesting that concerns over human rights abuses are a “misunderstanding,” are not only misleading but also an attempt to downplay the growing suppression of free expression under his administration.

While the fight against corruption is crucial and should be supported, it cannot and should not come at the expense of fundamental human rights. President Hichilema’s insistence that the UN is misinterpreting the situation is a blatant effort to deflect attention from the real issues facing Zambians today—the weaponization of state institutions, harassment of opposition voices, and the erosion of civil liberties.

Contrary to the President’s claims, Zambia is witnessing an alarming increase in the abuse of law enforcement agencies, with police being used as a political tool to silence dissent. Citizens, opposition figures, and civil society activists have been arrested, intimidated, and denied their right to express themselves freely, which directly contradicts the democratic principles the President claims to uphold.

Furthermore, the President’s assertion that his administration has improved freedom of movement and speech is far from reality. Many Zambians today live in fear of persecution for merely criticizing government policies, and social media has become a battleground where government-aligned actors intimidate and harass those with dissenting views. If freedom of expression were truly respected, there would be no need for the UN to intervene and assess the state of human rights in Zambia.

In addition, we urge President Hichilema to declare his assets publicly. You cannot prosecute others for corruption when you have not subjected your own assets to fair and transparent scrutiny by all Zambians and stakeholders in politics. Transparency and accountability must begin at the highest office to build public trust and demonstrate genuine commitment to the fight against corruption. Without this disclosure, the fight against corruption lacks credibility and raises questions about the President’s true intentions.

NED calls on the government to cooperate fully with the UN’s investigative efforts and to acknowledge the legitimate concerns raised by Zambians and the international community. The fight against corruption should not be used as a smokescreen to justify political oppression and human rights violations. We urge the President to prioritize democratic values and uphold the rights of all citizens.

We urge President Hichilema to stop dismissing human rights concerns as mere misunderstandings and take concrete action to restore the democratic space that enabled his government to come into power.

POLICE CHIEF ACCUSED OF MOZAMBIQUE ABUSES SACKED BY NEW PRESIDENT

POLICE CHIEF ACCUSED OF MOZAMBIQUE ABUSES SACKED BY NEW PRESIDENT

Mozambique’s police chief Bernadino Rafael has been sacked, following allegations of brutality during October’s disputed election and its aftermath.

He has denied claims by prominent opposition figures that he had worked with criminal groups to kidnap and kill civilian protesters in recent months.

The country’s new President Daniel Chapo, who took office last week, announced Mr Rafael’s removal on Thursday.

It is the first major security shake-up of Chapo’s presidency so far, as he faces immense pressure to win public trust and kick-start the ailing economy after months of unrest.

Mozambique is in the throes of one of its worst post-election crises since independence.

Outraged citizens took to the streets after evidence of election-tampering was overlooked and Frelimo was once again declared the winning party, extending its almost 50-year rule.

Some 300 people have been killed in protests since, say civil society groups.

Ex-police chief Rafael said earlier this week that only 96 people had died, including 17 officers.

He says those killed had attacked police officers who had defended themselves, or they had been hit by stray bullets.

According to the Mozambique Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (CDD), agents from the elite National Criminal Investigation Service (Sernic) dressed in civilian clothing “infiltrated protest crowds to identify and record the addresses of young participants” and “later carried out house raids, often resulting in arbitrary arrests and killings”.

Their actions “[turned] residential areas into war zones”, says CDD’s report, which Sernic has not commented on.

Mozambique’s police force has also denied claims that it was responsible for shooting dead two political aides in broad daylight. Elvino Dias and Paulo Guambe worked for Venâncio Mondlane, who claims he is the true victor of October’s election.

Mondlane has been leading the post-election protests despite stints in self-imposed exile for his safety, and he alleges that he has been targeted for assassination on at least two occasions.

Analysts including Mirna Chitsungo and Luís Nhanchote had told the BBC that after taking office, President Chapo should sack Mr Rafael.

He was sacked after seven years as Mozambique’s police chief.

President Chapo has replaced him with Joaquim Sive, who was previously the police chief for the provinces of Sofala and Nampula.

In 2019, Sive was suspended from his duties after at least 10 people died after a Frelimo rally at the 25 de Junho Stadium in Nampula. (BBC News)

Mumbi Phiri vows to continue political fight after release

Mumbi Phiri vows to continue political fight after release

DESPITE spending 14 days in police cells on charges of a non bailable offence and having described the experience as harsh, former PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri has vowed to remain vocal and active in politics, describing herself as a big machine that is capable of intimidating government.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14wbvZ75CW/?mibextid=oFDknk

Phiri, who had been charged with aggravated robbery was released after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Gilbert Phiri dropped the charges due to lack of evidence.

However, the outspoken politician has maintained that her detention was politically motivated and intended to silence her.

Appearing on Hot FM this morning, Phiri described her ordeal as dehumanising and an act of abuse of human rights.

The Tonse Alliance opposition member claimed that she was kept in a cage for 14 days straight without being given an opportunity to take a bath.

“I slept in a cage on the floor it was open. I slept without bathing for 14 days. I was treated like an animal. I have never been on the other side of the law. I’m a big machine they can’t match me, all of them put together can’t match me.”

“I will never stay away from politics because it’s a calling for me. Why should I take a back seat. It’s aluta continua and they better be ready. I’m a hot cake, everybody wants to see who is this Mumbi Phiri. God wants me to use my voice to liberate the people of Zambia,” said Phiri.

She explained that the police in Kawambwa where she was detained treated her like an animal where her right to basic needs was violated.

Phiri criticised government and the justice system for what she called wrongful detention.

Phiri also accused the man behind her release of playing to the gallery at the presence of the UN rapporteur currently in the country monitoring the right to freedom of expression and opinion.

The opposition critic further accused Green Economy minister Mike Mposha and the government at large of being behind the committed crime.

“If anything the person who was supposed to be arrested was Mike Mposha. Government has failed, this is a government of failures,” she complained.

Meanwhile, Phiri announced plans to sue the State for harassing her, stating that she will seek compensation for the emotional and physical toll of her detention.

“This time, I’m suing the State. I want to be compensated. Because mine was wrongful detention. I’m starting the proceedings on Monday. I’m very upset with UPND. I’m taking them to court,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission chairperson Pamela Sambo has refuted Phiri’s claims of mistreatment, stating that its officers visited her during her detention and confirmed that she had access to basic rights such as food and water.

“From the time she was incarcerated in Kawambwa our Mansa office was on the ground. And from the reports we have, there was no record of any ill treatment as she was incarcerated. All her basic rights were met,” she added.

Sambo however stated that if there were any human rights violations, then an official complaint should be sent to them so that the commission launches investigations.

DANDY CRAZY’s FAMILY APPLAUDS UPND AND GOVERNMENT  FOR THEIR CARE

DANDY CRAZY’s FAMILY APPLAUDS UPND AND GOVERNMENT  FOR THEIR CARE.

Lusaka , Zambia
(24-01-2025)

The family of the late Zambian music icon, Wesley Chibambo, popularly known as Dandy Crazy, has expressed profound gratitude to the United Party for National Development (UPND) and the government for their invaluable support during his funeral.

Dandy Crazy, who tragically passed away following a road accident on 31st December 2024, was laid to rest with a ceremony befitting his stature in the nation’s music industry.

During a press briefing held at the UPND Secretariat, the musician’s cousin, Kabyimbo Ndichenge, spoke on behalf of the family.

He commended the government for its overwhelming support, noting that the family drew immense strength from the assistance they received.

“We are deeply grateful for the unity and generosity extended to us during this difficult time,” Ndichenge said.

“We are here just to say thank you to everyone for the support you gave us as a family. You were there to help us in every way possible. We just want this message to be conveyed to the President: the children understand that we are still united as a family and are ready to support all the efforts he is making for this nation.”

The family emphasized how the government’s involvement brought comfort, and they expressed deep appreciation for the compassion shown.

“It touches us as a family to see this kind of compassion. May God bless the President,” Ndichenge added.

Batuke Imenda, the UPND Secretary General, also joined in commending the unity and collaboration displayed during the funeral.

He expressed the party’s appreciation for the government’s support.

“On behalf of the United Party for National Development, we want to express our appreciation for what the government did during this period. The support rendered was remarkable, showing the President’s compassion and commitment to the people,” Imenda said.

Imenda underscored the significance of the diverse crowd that attended, reflecting a message of unity that transcended political affiliations.

“The turnout at the funeral was inspiring. People from different political parties stood together in unity, setting an example for how we should approach our differences. It was not just a funeral but a moment of national reflection,” he added.

Imenda also encouraged young artists to carry themselves with dignity and purpose, following the example set by Dandy Crazy.

“We encourage young men and women in the arts to emulate the life and values of Dandy Crazy. If you carry yourself with dignity and purpose, you leave behind a legacy that will be remembered,” Imenda said.

A sympathizer who attended the funeral spoke about the exceptional unity and respect exhibited during the event.

“We witnessed something extraordinary—a unity that transcended politics. The peace and respect demonstrated from the beginning to the end showed that we are still a united nation,” the sympathizer said.

They went on to praise the celebration of Dandy Crazy’s life, noting how the crowd came together to honor his contributions to Zambia.

“The crowds that gathered were truly remarkable, and the celebration of life was befitting for someone who contributed so much to our country,” they added.

Dandy Crazy’s contributions to Zambian music will forever be remembered as a unifying force in the nation’s cultural fabric. His legacy continues to inspire both artists and fans alike, reminding the nation of the power of music to bring people together.

Kabyimbo Ndichenge further remarked that the funeral not only celebrated the life of a musical legend but also demonstrated the peace and unity that can exist across the political divide.

“It was not just a funeral, but a moment of national reflection,” he concluded.

“Bwela Tupange” Prophet John General’s WhatsApp Messages Land Him in Court

“Bwela Tupange” Prophet John General’s WhatsApp Messages Land Him in Court

In what has left tongues wagging across Zambia, cybersecurity expert Jeff Sitali has dropped a courtroom bombshell, revealing WhatsApp messages that may just seal the fate of prophet John Nundwe, famously known as John General. The prophet, who is accused of r@ping a woman under the guise of “prayers for conception,” is currently facing one count of r@pe contrary to the Penal Code of Zambia.

Testifying in a packed courtroom, Sitali said he used a forensic tool called Magnet Axiom to extract messages from John General’s iPhone 13 Pro Max—a phone that some murmured in court “should have been used for holy purposes.” Among the 11 messages retrieved, one stood out like a sore thumb. The victim, in her desperation for a child, messaged the prophet saying, “Dady, what can I do for me to have a child?” The prophet’s response? The now-infamous “Bwela tupange,” loosely translating to “Come we make.”

This single message had the courtroom erupting in whispers, with some attendees shaking their heads and others visibly trying to stifle laughter. “So, prayers have now been upgraded to bwela tupange?” one attendee was overheard murmuring outside the courtroom.

The allegations stem from an incident on November 22, 2022, at the victim’s home in Lusaka, where she had invited the prophet for prayers to help her conceive. Instead, the prayers allegedly took a dramatic and unholy turn, leaving the nation divided over the man who calls himself “General.”

Sitali, the digital detective of the day, explained to the court that while some messages were clear, others had mysteriously vanished. When pressed by prosecutor Joe Phiri, he said it was possible that the messages had either been deleted by the sender or were set to disappear. “But I can’t confirm which one,” Sitali said, shrugging.

In true Zambian courtroom drama, defense lawyer Yokonia Daka pounced on this uncertainty. “So, Mr. Sitali, you mean you can’t tell if these messages were deleted or just disappeared on their own?” Daka asked with a smirk. Sitali, perhaps feeling the heat, simply responded, “I can’t tell for sure.” Another defense lawyer, Elijah Siatwaambo, seized the moment to clarify, “You don’t know anything about the r@pe allegations themselves, correct?” Sitali nodded, “That’s correct.”

The courtroom mood was a mix of shock, disbelief, and even a little comedy as murmurs of “bwela tupange” echoed outside. Social media, meanwhile, is ablaze, with some Zambians creating memes and others taking to TikTok to parody the prophet’s now-famous words.

The trial is far from over, with proceedings set to continue on February 26, 2025. Whether justice will be served or not, one thing is clear—Zambians will be talking about “bwela tupange” for a long time to come.

STATEMENT BY GENDER DIVISION OF CABINET OFFICE ON THE DEATH, AND SUBSEQUENT DISCOVERY OF THE SKELETON, OF GEORGE KALABA.

The Gender Division of Cabinet Office is deeply disturbed by the recent horrific discovery of a human skeleton in a home in Lusaka’s Garden Compound and is calling for justice for the victim, identified as George Kalaba.

The Division wishes to strongly condemn the reprehensible act, which is not only a violation of human dignity but also goes against the fundamental values of morality, integrity and respect that we uphold as a nation.

Zambia, as a Christian nation, holds sacred the proper treatment of the deceased, in accordance with our cultural and religious beliefs. Our society expects that the dead be accorded a dignified burial, and any deviation from this practice is unacceptable.

The Division wishes to stress that such actions should never be tolerated, condoned or excused under any circumstances.

The Division would like to urge the investigative wings to conduct a thorough investigation into this tragic event and ensure that all individuals involved in this heinous crime are held accountable.

We call on the authorities to treat this case with the utmost urgency, care and sensitivity, especially as Sylvia Kalaba, George’s wife, and their four children are currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.

Furthermore, the Gender Division strongly cautions those who practice spiritualism to refrain from misleading vulnerable individuals into engaging in harmful practices that perpetuate violence and fear. Such actions not only endanger lives but also contribute to a culture of harm and distrust within our society. As a nation, we must work collectively to condemn these acts and create a safer and more just environment for all.

The Gender Division stands in solidarity with the friends and family of the late George Kalaba, residents of Garden Compound and all Zambian citizens. We demand justice for George Kalaba and his bereaved family. We urge everyone to uphold the law and maintain our Christian and cultural principles to safeguard our national values.

The Sugilite Saga: Zambia’s Purple Dream That Turned Into Dust

The Sugilite Saga: Zambia’s Purple Dream That Turned Into Dust

Once upon a time in Zambia, deep in the belly of the Copperbelt, a miracle was discovered. A mineral so rare, so beautiful, and so gloriously purple that it felt like the ancestors themselves had sent it as a sign. Its name? Sugilite. A gemstone that glittered with the promise of wealth, prosperity, and a future where potholes, load-shedding, and kadansa politics would be nothing but bad memories. For a moment, Zambia believed it had finally hit the big time.

Excitement swept through the country faster than a kwacha exchange rate rumor. Politicians lined up to praise the discovery like they had personally struck the pickaxes into the ground. Miners were ululating, local traders were rubbing their hands in anticipation, and social media was ablaze with people dreaming of sugilite-funded mansions in New Kasama and Bentleys on Cairo Road. “Ba Zambia,” we told ourselves, “this is our oil. Forget Dubai; Lusaka is next!”

But as every Zambian knows, when things are too sweet, they sour quickly. Within a few months, the sugilite was finished. Yes, kaput. Just like that, the purple dream turned into a national punchline. “Wait,” the nation asked in disbelief, “that’s all?!” Sugilite had come and gone faster than those free drinks at a Zambian wedding.

Instead of a careful plan to pace the mining and maximize the benefits, we handled the mineral the same way people handle free relish at a market—rushing, grabbing, and consuming without thinking about tomorrow. Export, export, export. Ba Zambia, it’s like we forgot the first rule of nshima: you don’t eat all the relish in one sitting. And just like that, the sugilite was gone, leaving nothing but empty promises and some very rich middlemen.

Meanwhile, the communities near the mining sites, who had been promised development, jobs, and tarred roads, were left with big holes in the ground and big holes in their hearts. “So what happened to the sugilite money?” one resident asked, shaking his head. “It came and went faster than a Lusaka minibus with no change.” The roads stayed dusty, the schools stayed unfinished, and even the boreholes remained dry.

And let’s not forget the environmental damage. Where there were once lush landscapes and wildlife, there are now barren craters and polluted streams. “Eh, it’s like we swapped nature for a disaster movie set,” joked one environmentalist. “We should start charging tourists to visit The Great Sugilite Pit. Bring your own water bottles—it’s hot out there!”

But perhaps the most painful part of the story is how the sugilite was exported raw. Yes, ba Zambia, raw. While other countries polished our purple treasure into expensive jewelry and sold it back to the world, we clapped for ourselves for digging it up. It’s like cooking a pot of beans, giving it to your neighbor, and then buying a plate back from them with your last 20 kwacha. Sangalaleni!

So here we are, left with nothing but lessons from the Great Sugilite Saga. We’ve learned (again) that while Zambia is rich in resources, we’re a little too quick to celebrate and a little too slow to plan. Instead of building local industries, we let the opportunity slip through our fingers. Instead of thinking long-term, we grabbed short-term gains. It’s like we found a chicken that lays golden eggs and decided to braai it on the same day.

But hey, every mistake is a chance to do better. The next time Zambia discovers a shiny new mineral—or any resource, for that matter—let’s approach it like nshima: slow, steady, and mindful of tomorrow’s meal. Because if we don’t, the next big find might leave us laughing at ourselves again. And as they say in Zambia, katwishi… the joke might be too expensive to handle.

LUSAKA PS CALLS FOR STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT TO ADDRESS WORSENING FLOODING CRISIS

LUSAKA PS CALLS FOR STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT TO ADDRESS WORSENING FLOODING CRISIS

Acting Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Alex Mapushi has urged stakeholders to collaborate in addressing the growing flooding crisis across Zambia, which is being worsened by continuous rainfall predicted by the Zambia Meteorological Department.

Speaking at the Mandevu Constituency Parliamentary Office, Mr. Mapushi described the flooding situation, which has left houses uninhabitable due to waterlogging, as an emergency requiring immediate attention. He emphasized that while the government, through the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU), is making efforts to mitigate the effects, additional support from stakeholders is essential.

“The situation where houses are becoming inhabitable due to waterlogging in residential areas is an emergency that needs urgent attention through concerted efforts to work on the drainage systems,” Mr. Mapushi said. He called on communities to take proactive measures by clearing waste near drainage systems to prevent blockages that exacerbate flooding.

He further urged Mandevu Member of Parliament Christopher Shakafuswa to allocate resources from the five percent Disaster Emergency Component under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to address pressing flood-related challenges in the constituency.

Meanwhile, MP Shakafuswa revealed that 55 households affected by the floods have already been accommodated at an Internally Displaced People (IDP) camp set up at Chipata Primary School Grounds. An additional 13 families are awaiting relocation as the number of displaced households continues to rise.

“I am very grateful to President Hakainde Hichilema and the DMMU through the office of the Vice President for the swift response of the relief items that were delivered to the affected families on Tuesday,” Mr. Shakafuswa said, while appealing for more tents and relief supplies to cater to the growing needs of the displaced.

The flooding crisis has highlighted the urgent need for improved drainage systems and stakeholder collaboration to prevent further displacement and loss of property.

BISHOPS EXCHANGE BLOWS IN CHURCH OVER TITHES

BISHOPS EXCHANGE BLOWS IN CHURCH OVER TITHES

Last Church Bishop and Pastor exchange punches

A Bishop and a Pastor of African Last Church of God in Nakonde again exchanged punches yesterday Friday during the end of the 5 days crusade service over who collects tithes from the branch in Chiyanga Village.

The fight which lasted over one hour saw the two men wearing white gowns tear each other’s shirt in the presence of worshippers and onlookers over K4,200 tithes and offerings that was donated by church members.

It’s alleged the pastor only named as Mwambene became angry when learned he was going to be replaced by another Siame from Malawi.

That was, however, not going to be the case as the preacher hired boys locally known as Manguluweni (junkies), who reportedly had knives, to attack the new pastor, although they did not.

The general overseer called Bishop Sichone from Tanzania was nowhere to be seen when the men of the cloth abandoned teachings of the Bible before service could start.

“The the general bishop ran away after things became tense. When he came back, he suspended the programme,” a witness told police.

It took former Chiyanga village headman Chris Sikaona and section six Chairman Geoffrey Sinyinza to stop the fight.

“Each pastor had his own supporters. The pastor from Malawi was strangled with the necktie he was wearing when the fight started,” Mr Sinyinza said as he laughed.

Mr Sinyinza who witnessed the fight the police were immediately contacted but were told to hold on after the situation calmed minutes later. It’s not common for pastors to square themselves  in church in Zambia over tithes. Last month, a prophet in Mongu was badly beaten after he took all the tithe donated by church members without sharing with other pastors and the overseer.
